Pro tip- visit Yushak's Supermarket while you're in Shushan for some amazing sausage. Shushan also has a covered bridge and a one room schoolhouse museum!

So much fun! Rent a kayak for $50 for 3 hours, easy paddle on Fish Kill Creak. It's very scenic, we saw blue heron's, turtles, and more! Walk over to the pizza place for dinner after! A 20 minute drive from the schoolhouse.

"The Summer Place to Be" Open seasonally mid July - August, dark on Monday and Tuesday. A fun experience if you've never been to the track before. Get there early if you want to stake out a picnic table, otherwise it's super fun to just wander around!

Great off the beaten path stop for local cuts of meat, we hear there's 30 different types of sausage! The drive over is beautiful and you'll be right near the Georgi too, make a morning of the trip. About a 10 minute drive from the schoolhouse.

Getting around
Craving some shopping and night life? Head to Saratoga!
We love our rural setting and local farm stores but If you are looking to travel a little further from the schoolhouse (about 20 minutes) check out Saratoga Springs. This small city has a great downtown with specialty shops, a variety of restaurants and bars and beautiful architecture. Take a walk down Broadway and visit Congress Park.
What to pack
Have Some Cash : )
We love swiping our cards too but out here some of the smaller places are cash only. We still forget half the time and dive for quarters in our car. It helps to carry a little cash...especially for ice cream!
