The best place in town! Everyone goes here for family brunch, to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, business entertaining -- you name it. The bread pudding is oh so good! Monday night they serve 3 special, tasty entrees for $12.99. Great bar, excellent food and service.

Excellent thin crust pizza. They are HUGE! Sold by the slice, too, which is fast and tasty. Very nice salad bar, beer and wine, too. Great to hang out, and everyone does. There's a piano and couch seating up in the front. Also -- Next door to, and owned by Messenger Pizza, Savage Bakery is the newest place in downtown. Great coffee, house-baked goods, breakfast and lunch.

Italian food, made with family recipes! The Italian dressing is To Die For. The lasagne, also a family recipe, is delicious. If they have the scampi special, get THAT! Yummmm. Tiny indoors, patio outdoors if the weather is nice. Great prices on house wine by the bottle.

This is THE place to go after a visit to Celebration Park! You'll be lucky if Beth is cooking. She is GOOD. Limited menu, full bar I think, pool tables, and TVs set on DIY channels, I think. You'll end up watching some random program while you wait. Everyone stops by for a burger and fries. You'll see workmen at lunchtime, old guys meeting to shoot pool, families passing through. I've never been in the evening but the bar will be busier I suppose. Melba is a tiny town that grows to 10,000 or more for their annual 4th of July parade and outrageous fireworks display.

Indian Creek Steakhouse is so much fun! It is a for-real cowboy steakhouse, run by a sweet cowboy who is a wizard on the grill. They use apple wood on the grill and it makes a delicious difference. You can watch them cook your steak/fish/pork/chicken. There are two menus--one is steaks and one is a lunch/more affordable menu. Last time we wre there I had a huge beef rib and sides that was delicious and only $10. The decor is great. The bar side has a stage and live music -- and dancing! There's a row of barstool/saddles at the bar. They are only open part of the week, so check before you go. Yum!

We joined the Elks Lodge because it is right next door to our home -- we share a wall with them! Everyone is SO nice, the lodge does many things to help the community, the drinks are a bargain, and there's dinner about twice a week. You do need to be a member--or come in with a member--to be admitted. If you'd like to visit our lodge, please tell us--we would be happy to bring you in, introduce you to our friends, and show you our lodge. It's a great place!

PreFunk is a craft beer tap bar with an excellent selection. Big patio where you can run into just about anyone in town! Fabulous owners and staff. They also serve ciders, kombucha, and wine and bubbly. You can bring food in from anywhere, but Messenger is the most convenient. I think Messenger will even deliver! Open on Sundays and some holidays too. We love this place!

Parks & Nature
This is our favorite outdoorsy place in the area. There are around 5,000 petroglyphs in the park. Plus hiking trails, fishing, boat ramp, camping sites, an awesome little museum with rotating exhibits, a cool old train bridge from the 1800s. If you go while the park is open, the rangers will tell you about everything, and let you try your hand at throwing ancient spear-weapons called atlatls (just saying it is fun!). The first Thanksgiving we were here, most of the kids came up to see us, and we spent Black Friday at Celebration Park instead of shopping. A new tradition.

This is a beautiful setting with several fishing ponds. There are walking paths all around. Beautiful in all seasons! Our Mattie the Cat was found with two siblings when she was a teeny kitten, right there at Wilson Pond. Also, it was the first place my grandkids got to go fishing! There is a trail network that connects to the ponds, that cuts diagonally through Nampa.

This is a bike path that is part of a system that isn't quite together yet! Wilson, Stoddard, and Indian Creek Pathways will all hook together some fine day. There are good maps on the Nampa Parks and Rec website. The best-developed one is Wilson Pathway, 3 miles long. Stoddard is next, and it is also an equestrian pathway. It is 2 miles long.

Great little museum in Celebration Park. I'm a little biased because I helped them open it by producing their first two exhibits. It's a museum that does not own a permanent collection -- did you know there's a name for that? I didn't either, it's a kunsthalle. There are three exhibitions per year. You'll learn something! And in a beautiful setting, right beside the Snake River.

There are SO many old airplanes here! Anyone who loves aviation and history will be in heaven. The Warhawk Air Museum is a not for profit organization funded entirely by individual donations and private foundations. The mission of the museum is to teach and preserve America’s history during times of war from the home front to the war front and aviation history from the advent of flight through the space age. This is perhaps the closest supermarket. Selection is better at Fred Meyer, and there's a much larger Albertsons farther south on 12th Avenue Road with a much better selection (Safeway is part of Albertsons' chain). You can buy beer and wine and mixers at the grocery stores in Idaho, but you have to go to the state-run stores for hard liquor.
