If you're looking for a pleasant night's sleep on a quiet road about 40 minutes from downtown Sacramento, try our cottage! With more than 50 fruit trees and a big veggie garden on 2 acres, we'll keep a bowl of fresh produce for you in season . . . and we always keep candy, towels and reading materials on hand. From the outside, our place isn't grand, but it's cozy and friendly inside. Park on road directly in front of our house. Convenient to I-5 and Highways 20, 65, 70 and 99! Downtown Sacramento & Roseville - 40 minutes Sacramento International Airport - 35-40 minutes Toyota Amphitheater - 10 minutes Chico - 1 hour San Francisco - 90-120 minutes, depending on traffic Reno - 2.5 hours, give or take Lake Tahoe - 2.5-3 hours, depending on traffic The Sutter Buttes - 35 minutes Grass Valley & Nevada City - one hour Wifi, private bathroom, fully-stocked kitchen, breakfast fixings for the first morning, orchard and garden for your picking pleasure in season; lots of walking space; gas station/mini-mart and highway access 1 mile away. GLUTEN-FREE pizza is 1 mile away. The Toyota Amphitheater is about 4 miles away, as the crow flies. No stairs leading to, or inside of, the space; there is a long footpath of stepping stones across our large yard to reach the space. No animals in the space Lots of interesting bird visitors year-round. Nearby fields fill with thousands of migrating waterfowl late fall through mid winter. Main bedroom sleeps 2 in a comfy queen bed. Twin bed in a tiny separate room; also 2 folding twin beds and a big couch in the living room. Charming space heaters; window AC unit in the bedroom; evaporative cooler and ceiling fan in the main living area. If you require consistent temps of 68 degrees year-round, this may not be the spot for you. Spring and fall are fantastic times to visit! Available for day meetings, workshops, retreats I also offer jewelry-making classes to guests who are interested if the timing works out. Just ask! :-) And now, the fine print: IMPORTANT: When placing a reservation request, please enter the exact number of your party, including infants. Not only do Airbnb policies pertain to guests of all ages and sizes, but we provide utilities and supplies for every guest. Increased guest numbers are reflected in increased costs for us, especially in hot and cold weather. - Our guests often describe our space as homey. Yay! However, that's not the same as being at your mom's house. :-) If you make a mess of the oven, microwave, stovetop, etc., PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF! If you would, empty the grounds from your last pot of coffee or the dregs from your last pot of tea, clean your last set of dirty dishes, and so on. We don't have a cleaning staff and don't charge a cleaning fee. Do not remove the smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. Haven't you seen those scary commercials?! NO SMOKING. ABSOLUTELY NO CANDLES! Not only are they a fire hazard, but we have cleaned wax off the table made by our late dad, off the painted floor, off the rug, etc. No pets are allowed in the cottage, due to some guests' allergies.
We are surrounded by historical spots! Yuba, Sutter and Nevada Counties are filled with Gold Rush history, tiny towns to visit, gold mines to tour, bird watching, hiking, river accesses and so on. We keep lots of books on local history in the cottage, as well as a binder of info on available activities.
  • Pete and Erica are perfect hosts! We felt welcome and had complete privacy. We fell asleep to the sound of the train whistle and woke to the sounds of the rooster crowing. The "cottage" is comfortable, full of art and light and the garden and open space just outside the door makes the space feel bigger. Sunsets are magical just outside the french doors, and then the yard comes to life after dark when the tiny, outdoor lights twinkle on!

  • The hosts were excellent- providing us treats like free Peets coffee and delicious pastries. The accommodations were cozy and comfortable. My two boys ages 21 months and 3-and-a half loved visiting with the chickens.

    Lisa2014-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a terrific one night stay. Erica is a gracious hostess and the accommodations were quite nice. We really enjoyed taking a breather sitting outside in the back enjoying the bird life. We would definitely stay here again. So relaxing. Thanks!

  • I needed a place to stay for a night before spending the morning at West Coast Falconry, but now I wish I could have stayed in the cottage a while longer! Erica is lovely (I didn't interact with Pete, but I'm sure he's great too)--really welcoming and flexible, which I especially appreciated when I needed to make a last-minute addition to my party. The cottage is both spacious and homey, and the kitchen has everything you need. The fresh eggs and pastries were great touches; we ate breakfast outside at the picnic table, and watched the sun come up. I was pleased to add my name to the vintage guestbook on the dining room table, and I hope to add another signature in the future!

    Mariko2015-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved this place! It is just so cute and nice and tranquil : ) Plus a lovely garden (fruit trees!). If it wasn't for the fact that we we had a deadline to get home to LA, I would've liked to stay at least another night. The communication with Erica was very easy and she was super flexible with our arriving time (she greeted us with a hug at 1.30AM!!). She also left us fresh eggs and croissants for breakfast, which was a welcome surprise. Thank you Jeffreys! 3

    Lineke2013-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • I am truly grateful to have found Pete and Erica on airbnb, the cottage is a lovely home and the Jeffersons are such nice people. Thank you for your hospitality and allowing me to stay at Farm Fresh :) In addition, Erica's pastries are so delicious, which is the icing on the cake.

    Carla2014-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Farm Fresh! The house was quite comfortable, the Hens friendly (and their eggs made a delicious breakfast). I was looking for a relaxing stay on a busy weekend and this was exactly what we found. Erica was warm and welcoming. The new foal in the neighbor field addad the "awwww" factor beautifully.

Great access to Rideout Hospital and Sutter North medical facilities. Near the Sutter Buttes. Thirteen miles from Beale AFB. In a quiet residential neighborhood. Please note we do have friendly felines. The pool (not heated) is available for use. The room, bath and family room are on the bottom floor, with access to the back yard.
Our house is in a residential area that's quiet, but conveniently close to Highways 99 and 20. Guests enjoy the peaceful setting.
We're close to Highways 99 and 20 and the commercial areas, but in a quiet neighborhood. Also, Marysville and the Rideout Medical facilities are nearby.
  • Mary Jane was extremely helpful, respectful and responsive. Their home is inviting, as listed and located in a good residential area close to all amenities by car. The two things my wife would have liked: sink in the breakfast area, separate area for cats (this part may be ok for cat owners)

    Jarnail2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Jane, her husband and their cat were the sweetest hosts! The cat (his name escapes me) greeted me in the driveway and walked me to the door. I checked in late, but Mary Jane and Jon were there to welcome me and offer help. The room was adorable and peaceful. The bathroom was nice and clean. They even had coffee, tea, orange juice, organic boiled eggs, fruit, oatmeal, a sweet roll and toast for me in the morning. I enjoyed the beautiful backyard in the morning and sleep like a baby! I would love to stay there again :)

    Melissa2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Mary Jane and Jon was easily my best airbnb experience ever. They are very hospitable people -- happy to spend time discussing travel, animal stories, home improvements, or whatever, and also willing to leave you alone with total privacy. The accommodations are totally private and upscale, and the bedroom can be totally dark and quiet for a perfect night's sleep. I would definitely stay again if I'm in Yuba City. In fact, I might find a reason to go back just for the experience.

    Sierra2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent! I would definitely stay their again. Nice, friendly people. Wonderful house. The area reserved for their guests is very nice with a comfortable living area, a nice set up for breakfast, an outside area with pool, clean private bathroom and nice room. Maybe the best value on Airbnb.

    Jeff2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Jane and Jon were both really wonderful hosts who worked hard to keep things tidy and to my liking. They regularly went out of their way to make me feel at home by bringing me fresh fruit and setting up a bicycle for me so I could ride around the neighborhood. The pool is very clean and nice, as is the backyard patio area. The space was well-maintained, comfy and spacious. Would definitely stay here if I'm in the area again!

    Ashley2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent hosts, cozy and welcoming place, very clean and neat. Good area and Mary and her husband's hospitality was excellent. We had a little delay and they were totally comprehensive and very willing to extend our checking time.

  • This is a spacious downstairs, with view of pool. Small fridge, selection of snacks, tea- and coffee-makers... and I felt very warmly welcomed. Lovely.

    A quiet retreat
    18 reviews
Private bedroom with super comfortable queen bed & lush bedding. The shared bathroom with a tub/shower is just across the hall and is shared only if company is visiting. A peaceful retreat, my home sits behind a park and is in a very quiet, lovely neighborhood with lots of trees. Walking distance to the river, Starbucks, grocery, restaurants and bus stop. Just minutes away from Rideout Hospital and close to Sacramento Airport, Old Town Sacramento, Toyota Amphitheater, Thunder Valley Casino.
Your private room has plenty of space for your belongings as it is set up solely for guests! The room may include a TV with Netflix if not in use elsewhere. If you are traveling or working in the area, it is a great place to wind down from your day! Ask me about special offers for long term stays! Come on over and let your troubles slip away and enjoy the peaceful oasis. Take a nap in the lounge chair in the yard or take a walk on the levy along the river or hangout at the park, which has a basketball court, lots of grass, a play yard and picnic tables. I live in South East Yuba City off the Garden Highway and it's just a skip to get to Highway 99 and off to the delights of Sacramento.
I live in a quiet family neighborhood by a nice park with play structures, a basketball court, picnic tables and lots of grass to play on. I love all the trees in this neighborhood and that you can take a beautiful walk to the river. You can also take a quick walk to the shopping center where there is a gas station, grocery store, Starbucks, an Urgent Care Center, dry cleaners, dentist and several restaurants serving sandwiches, chinese, mexican or pizza. You can also walk to church. I love this neighborhood with all you need within in blocks and friendly neighbors.

  • Carolyn is an excellent host. She anticipates the needs and comforts of her guests and has everything (and more) awaiting at check in. I decided to stay long-term for work in Yuba City and she continued to be attentive and responsive to my needs and comfort while staying in her cozy airbnb room. I recommend her as a super host! Sheila

    Sheila2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Carolyn is a kind and welcoming host. Her home was very clean and comfortable. One of the best sleeps I've had at an air bnb - super comfy bed, sheets, blackout shades/curtains, and a ceiling fan - wonderous! Would highly recommend staying at Carolyn's place!

    Rachel2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Easy communication, close to where I needed to be for work, breakfast was offered but I was unable to enjoy it due to the time I needed to leave in the AM. Place is exactly as listed and the stay was short but enjoyable.

    Diana2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This host prepares well for guests and provides everything they may need and more. When I checked in for long-term business stay, she had everything organized throughout the home with generous provisions for my enjoyment and comfort. This made it so smooth for me to settle in in an orderly manner with a wonderful home base for my traveling work. I recommend Carolyn's place without any hesitation!

Maria and her husband Clemente have a private room with a queen size bed and private bath available in their warm and inviting home. Guests will have access to the kitchen, living room, swimming pool, and patio. Absolutely no smoking inside & outside
Room is decorated in Spanish colonial revival style overlooking our patio garden, swimming pool, and waterfall fountain. It has a comfortable queen-sized bed. Closet space and drawers are available for clothing and belongings. There is a mini refrigerator, iron and ironing board in the room.
The house is located in a safe and quiet residential neighborhood just off of California Highway 99.
  • This was not my first time at María´s. As in previous times I enjoyed the quietness, the refrigerator inside the room, all the details that were put into place so that guests have a more fulfilling stay.

    Gina2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Maria was a wonderful host! I only stayed with her for one night but it was perfect. The room was very neat and clean. It looked even prettier to me than it aready does in the pictures. I stayed at her place while on a road trip. I drove all day before I got to her house. It was so nice to walk into such a beautiful home. The bed was very comfortable. I slept like a log! Maria said there were extra blankets and a fan if I needed them but I didn't. She also offered me some coffee in the morning. She was really sweet and I would definitely suggest staying here. The neighborhood is very quiet and it felt incredibly safe.

    Julie2016-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Maria greeted us at the door and showed us the room and bathroom. Plugged in the fridge and let us be, which was relaxing after a long day. The neighbor hood felt like a safe place. We didn't see Maria in the morning but her charming husband was in the kitchen and my husband enjoyed chatting with him. Loved the pictures of the ranch in Mexico and hearing about it. If you have an allergy to perfume, you might avoid this listing as Maria perfumes her house with some kind or floral air fresheners. It is VERY pervasive.

    Kristine2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Maria and her husband were extremely warm and welcoming. Their home is absolutely beautiful and the bed is very, very comfy! Wonderful stay!

  • Everything was as described. Maria's home is great. She was very nice and helpful. She gave us lots of tips what to do in the area. I'd recommend her place to anybody.

A quiet, peaceful retreat. Cozy queen bed with lush bedding. Right across from the bathroom, which would only be shared if there is another guest staying.

Enjoy a private riding lesson. Roasting marshmellows over the fire. Walks around the ranch. Visit historical areas. Go bird watching at Grey Lodge. Shoot skeet and other fun stuff. Horseback riding $40/person/hr. Shooting $25/box
The space is perfect for 1 person or a couple who want to experience ranch life. Butte Star Ranch is a working horse ranch where people board their horses and enjoy horseback riding. If you are looking for the western ranch experience and you love horses you will not be disappointed. The space has kitchen, living room, 55" TV, and 1 bdrm.
The Sutter Buttes are the smallest mountain range in the United States. The Buttes offer their own unique experience. You can hike, bike, flyover, or drive through the Buttes. You can also visit near by attraction such as wild life refuges, historic downtown Marysville where some of the first gold miners lived. Take time to fish the Yuba, Feather, and Sacramento rivers or hunt the pacific fly way for waterfowl.
  • My only regret was that we didn't get to stay here longer, we just stopped through between bike races in Davis and Williams (perfect location if you're racing in both of those places in one weekend, by the way). Jerry was extremely friendly and welcoming, the ranch is beautiful. We'll definitely be back soon to enjoy the area more. Thank you for your hospitality!

  • Jerry was super-responsive and made sure that we had the best getaway weekend! Together with his mom and his cousin, he made sure that we got the proper California Ranch experience. The Bunk House is clean, spacious, has everything you want (&more) and is surrounded by horses. If you are in for a weekend feeling like a cowboy/cowgirl, this place is definitely recommended. And so is the lovely family that runs it.

  • I had no expectations of the ranch. This was our first vacation in thirteen years and I was ready to get away. My wife, eleven year old son, and I went to Yuba City for a week long camp that taught people with special needs how to ride a bicycle. Our son has autism, and the last eleven years have been incredibly rewarding, but also very challenging. This was the first time as a family we were going on a trip that wasn’t to see a doctor or receive some kind of autism related training. Though our son has recovered a great deal we needed a place that would be a peaceful environment, accepting of who he was, and enable us to set up a home away from home so we could relax, get away from the craziness of the world, and prepare all of our meals to maintain his strict diet. As it turned out the ranch was the perfect place. Jerry and Amanda welcomed us and got us settled in the “Bunkhouse”. It was light, airy, with tile floors, a full kitchen, and an added bonus of a washer and dryer. I’m a practical person and I knew right away our most basic needs were going to be met, and judging by the welcome we received, I knew that our hosts would make our stay enjoyable. It’s a working horse ranch and we were living in the midst of it with all the sights, sounds, and smells it had to offer. We were surrounded by horses and horse people which was a new experience for us, but we immediately felt comfortable in our new environment where we were free to roam and make ourselves at home. We live in a small town but still I was struck by the peace of the place. It’s a slower life there and the people who work it go to unwind and bring with them a calm energy. Our son took to his surroundings immediately and we went on long walks, played in the dirt, listen to the birdsong, and did what we most wanted to do: relax and spend some quality time together after years of running around. We then met Becky and Joe, Jerry’s parents. They too welcomed us, but more than that they made us feel like we belonged. I can’t stress enough what a difference this meant, after years feeling like we were living on the outside looking in, having to gauge every outing to determine if our destination would be accommodating, or even welcoming to us, with all of our needs surrounding our son. Being out in the world can be exhausting, but Becky and Joe put us at ease and genuinely made us feel welcome. That level of hospitality is priceless. I never would have thought living on a working ranch for a week could be a vacation, but it was. It allowed us to be in the moment and to let all of life’s distractions...

  • This is an awesome place to stay. The accomandations are really, really nice and very comfy. Jerry is a very kind person. I totaly recommend this place if you are looking for an escape from busy city life. My favorite was sitting ourside in the mornings watching and hearing the horses and cows get their breakfast :)

    Adriana2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry and his parents were amazing hosts! They live on a beautiful property and know how to make guests feel welcome. We definitely hope to plan a trip back and stay on their ranch again!

  • Sutter Ranch was wonderful! Jerry was so helpful and kind. His family has built a beautiful gentle community centered around horses. He took our 4 yr old out for her first ride and she loved it so much. He was a perfect first teacher! The house is just right for a couple-- our small family squeezed in thanks to Jerry helping us with an air bed. The stars were magnificent at night! We loved making a fire in the wood stove-- We explored birding, hiking, gorgeous river canyons and even snow. I highly recommend this spot to discover the hidden gem of the Central Valley!

    Sunder2015-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say! Jerry was born to be social! I liked that because I like that approach, it is why I use airbnb! Jerry comes walking across a grassy area with a big smile a hand shake for both of us, runs through the basics and more! gets extra wood so we can have a fire. We decide to cook together, hit the local market (about 2-3miles) grab what we need and head back during a beatiful sunset, we start a fire out front. A little wine cheese fruit, a blanket..nice romantic start. some of the people who board their horse and coming and going and we get to visit with a few and watch and a couple young girls ride their horses, add a horse to a young person and you seem to get a friendly caring sweet person! Jerry has a gas grill out back so I grilled chicken! great dinner Cheryl prepared, all I did was grill!lol! the bed was awesome, very comfortable! eventually found our way back to the real world the next last late morning. I had arranged to go horseback riding with Jerry. Cheryl was a first timer, Jerry was an: awesome, patient, detailed oriented, guide to understand these beautiful creatures. Jerry was also very firm about who should be running the show, a horse needs to follow directions all the time. If you are not providing the instructions and directions a horse with develop an attitude that makes them tougher for future riders. be kind but be firm and stay in control. the entire family was around, we met Jerry's mom, wife and two of the kids. What a great family and what a special experience they can provide for you! come on out, you will be better for it! if you have a reunion or a family gathering they have a great barn available and an aunt and uncle that can rustle up some grub for the group!

  • upon on our arrival we were friendly greeted by mr.handy we were very appreciative he was able to be flexible with our arrival & departure. He and his family were very nice and helpful both me and my girlfriend enjoyed our relaxing weekend so much we never left the house the room was so beautiful and peaceful just what we needed our only regret is we didn't get a chance to explore the beautiful ranch & see the horses.Well that is all the more reason to come back and enjoy this fabulous place.

Wheatland CA has no hotels. This is an opportunity to stay 10 minutes away form the Toyota Amphitheater. I can show you and back way in and beat the traffic. Home is on a cul-de-sac with lots of parking. Queen bed with private bath. You can also drink some of my homebrews before spending $15 for beer in the show.

  • Our stay at mikes home was relaxing quiet and comfortable, a home away from home. He was a pleasure to meet! Thank you for being such a cool laid back host given the lack of time we booked the room ( the day before ) and our busy tournament schedule that weekend. We would definitely stay here again and give him 2 thumbs way up! He even went so far as to baking us some delicious chocolate scones before our departure which we thoroughly enjoyed on our trip back home. THANK YOU MIKE!

    Bryana2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mike was awesome. So was his place. He made sure we had everything we needed and his place is conveniently located near the amphitheater. We hung out before and after the show and it was a very fun experience!

My place is close to wine tasting, horseback riding, lakes, boating, and nature! Just over 1 hour to skiing at Boreal/Sugar Bowl. You’ll love my place because of the beauty and peacefulness. It has a beautiful pond view for your enjoyment. Large playground for kids. There is cable but NO Internet.
The home and property offer peaceful tranquility in a parklike setting. Neutrally located between Grass Valley and Marysville.
This is an amazing neighborhood of close-knit families. With each home having acreage, there is room to enjoy peace and quiet without interruptions.
  • My family had a wonderful time here. We fished at the private pond and the whole family was able to stay in one place. Would absolutely stay again!

  • This house is Amazingly great for us. It has great rooms and surroundings. We walk around the pond with nice view. Very relaxing. Inside was full of stock of staff such as things in the fridge and a dozen of farm eggs from the owner. They gave us another dozen when we leave. Alicia and Brandon were so nice in hosting us. They have changed the trundle bed to a queen size before we arrived. Thank you for all their efforts. Definitely recommend to anyone who want to have a nice vacation on the foothill of sierras.
