Just booked in Woodend

1920s tram / tiny house accommodation located on the edge of the Lauriston forest. Includes split system heating and cooling, an indoor wood fire, campfire and BBQ area, tiki bar, hammocks, veggie patch, boardgames, books + more. Just 1 hour from Melbourne, 5 minutes from Kyneton, 20 minutes from Daylesford and Trentham. * Friday and Saturday = 2 night minimum * Sunday through to Thursday = 1 night minimum New photos added regularly on Instagram: @campkulning
Camp Kulning is a one-acre property which backs onto the Lauriston forest. In addition to the tram accommodation, it includes a retro tiki bar, undercover BBQ area, veggie garden, hammocks and vintage sports equipment. There's a campfire area with cast iron cooking equipment for fireside snacks, and is surrounded by fairy lights which looks magical once the sun goes down. The W-Class tram (aka Jean Claude Van Tram) was in operation between the 1920s and 1980s, and has recently been transformed into accommodation. Its lounge room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom are all decorated with vintage furnishings. The lounge area has a wood fire, comfy chairs, bar cart, books and board games. The bedroom has a queen bed with electric blanket, and a very efficient split system aircon / heater which flows throughout the tram. The kitchen is a simple set up, equipped with 2 portable hot plates, bar fridge and a breakfast bench. It's stocked with pots and pans, toaster, kettle, crockery and utensils, coffee and lots of tea, plus some cooking basics and breakfast cereals. The bathroom has a shower and basin, and in the drivers cabin there's an environmentally friendly waterless (and odourless) compost toilet. Never fear, it just looks like a regular toilet! The water from the tram shower and sink is filtered though a grey water treatment system which is then recycled to water the lawn. The property is also shared with a tiny private cottage and separate yard which I live in part time. Please see the 'interaction with guests' section for more details. If you're considering staying at Camp Kulning that is wonderful news but please keep in mind that it's located in the country, so you'll come into contact with bugs and your shoes are likely to get dirty. Please don't expect anything too fancy or luxurious - it's furnished with old treasures found in op shops. The tram is 91 years old! It has some wear and tear as you’d expect, but adds to its charm. It's is no-frills, ramshackle and rustic. It's also unique and fun, and is the perfect place for those looking to switch off and relax. More photos and updates added regularly on Instagram: @campkulning ---------- The property has been lucky enough to feature in: frankie magazine and their interior design book Spaces Volume 3, Broadsheet (twice!), Time Out Melbourne, Apartment Therapy, Country Living, The Age newspaper, Concrete Playground, Smith Journal, Lunch Lady, Countryphiles, travel website AWOL, Messy Nessy Chic, and the video for Fraser A. Gorman's song Broken Hands. "A true forest-bound getaway. It's where those suffering waves of wanderlust and a good dose of wonder go to sooth their souls and connect with the great outdoors" - Countryphiles "like something out of a Wes Anderson movie... a tiny country amusement park" - AWOL "Sleeping in a tram has never been so appealing" - Broadsheet
There are (incredibly lovely) neighbours living close to the tram, so unfortunately it isn't the right fit for those looking for absolute seclusion OR for anyone looking party and make a lot of noise. Although Camp Kulning backs onto the forest, it is in a residential area and is located just off the road which connects Kyneton to Daylesford and other nearby towns. Please view the map to get better idea of where the property is situated to ensure it's what you have in mind. Lauriston is the perfect base to explore the Macedon Ranges and Victoria's spa country, with Kyneton, Daylesford, Hepburn Springs, Trentham, Woodend, Taradale, Hanging Rock, Castlemaine, Malmsbury, Turpins Falls, Trentham Falls all within a half hour drive.
  • One of the loveliest weekend getaways around!

  • Great little romantic getaway, if that's what you're looking for! Beautiful, rustic and felt like home! Angela was very accommodating, happy and prompt, met us when we arrived and showed us the place, and even gave a few tips of places to walk ie the nature reserve. So lovely to of had a warm, cozy fire on a chilly night. You'll love your stay at The Place with the Tram.

  • Angela is very kind and helpful, give us a warm welcome to the team as well as some useful tips! Wonderful place, special experience! Highly recommend!!

  • The Shack was a perfect getaway for a rainy and cold winter weekend. Angela was the perfect host, quick to respond, accommodating and has set up the property for a great weekend away with friends. We were the first lucky guests to stay in the tram. Nothing like waking up in the cosy comfort of an iconic Melbourne tram, looking out to a skyline filled with trees. The Shack provided the perfect place for our group of 5 to share meals and we retreated to the tram to lounge in the big comfy chairs and beanbags when the rain would't let us continue to explore the garden. The kitchen is well stocked, all the bathroom and other amenities are provided and there are plenty of places to explore and visit in the nearby area. I highly recommend a visit.

  • What a special little place this is, we absolutely loved our stay at Angela's! There were 8 of us and we stayed in the main house, caboose, and caravan. The design was like stepping into another era - gorgeous 70s decor, an old record player with a great selection of LPs, a well stocked bookshelf, and tons of outdoor games like croquet and table tennis. Oh and the kitchen was stocked with teas, pancake mix, yoghurt, milk, and cereals! Angela is an awesome host - she was informative and generous with details leading up to our stay, met us on arrival and showed us around, and checked in with us to make sure everything was swell. Our dog stayed too and loved the fenced yard and the nearby walk around the reservoir. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and couldn't recommend it highly enough to others!

  • What an amazing place. Cute, cosy and completely relaxing. Whether it's sitting by the campfire, drinking in the tiki bar, or sitting round the wood fire in the amazing tram, you're bound to have a great time. Ang was a great host, very welcoming, providing plenty of info in the lead up to the stay and responded to any queries we had. Will definitely be heading back for further weekends. Highly recommend.

  • The property is set in a lovely location and was just as described. Angela is a wonderful host and nothing was too much trouble. The record collection is very cool too. Make sure you sleep in the tram at least one night!

  • Camp Kulning is great! Some friends and I went for the long weekend in June and even though it was cold (as expected) it was such a fun weekend! We kept toasty warm by the fires in the main cabin and the tram and made really good use of the campfire. Ang was easy to communicate with and supplies everything you could need which makes staying there and planning so easy - I highly recommend for anyone looking to get away from the city for a little while!

  • Beautiful apartment in a beautiful part of the world! Our hosts were fantastic and we couldn't fault them in the slightest. They made us feel welcome and the service was brilliant. Would recommend to anyone staying the area - you won't be disappointed.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Mokepilly. The photos on Airbnb didn't do it justice! It was bright and spacious with everything we needed. We were travelling with our 4 month old baby and there was plenty of space for the portacot and additional baby paraphernalia. Although connected to the main house, the apartment is very private with its own entrance and deck.

    Jeremy2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • The hospitality was amazing. Wonderful hosts. Amazing local tips. The house was beautiful - the photos don’t do it justice. Can’t wait to return. Love Bec & Harry x

  • Our stay at Mokepilly Apartment was wonderful. We booked one night here as we were visiting Bendigo for a sporting event and wanted a place to stay on our drive up from Melbourne (even though it is only a short 35min drive from Tullamarine Airport). The nearby Macedon Ranges and stately homes are amazing to see. Mokepilly Apartment is spacious and beautifully decorated and has everything you need and more. I loved the huge selection of books in the library nook. I only wished I had more time to read some properly. The bed is very comfortable and the view of the garden is lovely. Great value for money. Highly recommended, especially if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway. Thank you very much!

  • There's a spa!!! This has to be my favourite air bnb to date. Everything has been thought of to make your stay comfortable and carefree... From the well equipped kitchen to the comfortable bedding, everything is perfectly set for relaxation. Even when I had a hiccup with one of the appliances, the hosts were absolutely lovely and quick to respond when I needed help. I hope I get the chance to go back soon :)

    Sue2017-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Mokepilly! The house was cosy and the location was beautiful. Nicky and Karen were very friendly and helpful, and they provided great tourist and local information. We loved our stay and look forward to returning!

This cosy cottage is a private retreat in our garden at the foothills of Mt Macedon. Fully self contained, it has two bedrooms. Highlights are the bay window, wood heater (for winter days by the fire), wide verandah and outdoor fire pit (for summer evenings under the stars), large open space to lie on the grass. Watch the passing kangaroos, say hello to the nearby sheep and listen to the amazing morning birdsong. It's also a great base for visiting the beautiful Macedon Ranges.
This very sweet little cottage has been a much loved bed and breakfast for over 15 years. Recently renovated, the interior design is simple and uncluttered, done creatively and lovingly. The cottage is surrounded by open grassy spaces and tall trees. The birdsong in the mornings is truly fantastic. Kookaburras are often hanging around. In the evenings there is a mob of kangaroos who come to graze on the grass. You will often hear the skimming of the wild ducks as they come to land on the dam nearby. Breakfast provisions will be left in the kitchen so you can just sleep in and relax on your first morning - eggs, bacon, milk, bread, tea, coffee, jams....
We are in the Macedon Ranges and very close to Victoria's famous spa country. There's so much to do in the area. Fantastic restaurants, pubs, wineries, walks, bike rides (we have bikes you can use...), farmer's markets, galleries, etc.
  • As we arrived at dusk we were welcomed by a pair of kangaroos in the field, kookaburras laughing all around, and cockatoos flying high above. Although we did not meet Emma and Bernard, they provided us with all the essentials (down to the last detail) that we would need to make our stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. The cottage is everything it's described as and more. Tastefully decorated and ingeniously designed, the cottage provides a sense of homeyness and warmth that makes you feel like you belong. Our evenings were perfect for roasting marshmallows over the fire pit and introducing our children to the wonderful world of S'mores. The gorgeous grounds provided us ample space to wonder, relax on the large porch, all the while our children kicked the ball around. The flora and fauna was breathtaking. While in Woodend, we toured Taranaki Farm which was fantastic and took Emma up on a recommendation of hers for horseback riding with Hepburn Lagoon Trail Rides. Kieran and his family were amazing, so thank you to Emma for that. My family and I had an unforgettable time and can't wait to return to this country cottage!

    Darrel2014-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly, the few night's away at Bernard and Emma's cottage was perfect. From every little detail inside, to the bacon and eggs provided for breakfast and even the goats in the paddock behind, we loved all of it. It exceeded our expectations for a girls getaway and we were happy to spend our time at the cottage near the fireplace or on the verandah. It was a shame we didn't get a chance to meet Emma or Bernard but their kindness was felt through all the special touches in their cottage and their correspondence. Would definitely return.

    Emily2015-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Bernard and Emma's country cottage was the perfect place for our honeymoon. The property is beautiful and close to all the major local attractions. The cottage itself is cosy and inviting and all the little touches (stocked fireplace, marshmallows, fresh bread, eggs and bacon) make this a very relaxing place to stay.

    Peter2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at this lovely cottage . Bernard and Emma responded to Amy queries and requests we had. The cottage is beautifully positioned. Really enjoyed watching from the balcony the rabbits, black face sheep and other native animals. The lovely farms eggs and beautiful sourdough bread was appreciated. There was some interesting art that I enjoyed

    Kris2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely time in this cottage. The attention to detail is what really impressed us. The wood heater was set up and ready to be lit, the art work was fantastic and bacon, eggs and bread provided was delicious. We met (2 sheep and a beautiful doggy) which made the stay even that much better. Highly recommended and we would definitely stay again!

    Kimberly2016-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Bernard and Emma's cottage was everything we had hoped it would be. Quiet, cosy and very cute. We chose the cottage for our wedding weekend and it couldn't have suited us better! Everything has been thought of and we honestly felt very welcomed. I would recommend the cottage to anyone wanting a getaway to Woodend- Dont forget to go to Hanging Rock and the foodie haven of Kyneton!

    Lucie2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • My mum and I found Emma and Bernard's cottage to be absolutely perfect. The property is very beautiful and quiet. Exactly what we where looking for. I hope to return again soon.

    Holly2015-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Last week I spent a couple of days with my two teenage daughters at Emma and Bernard's cute cottage and we loved it. It was close enough to Woodend to make a quick trip in for coffee and milk, while being situated so we felt like we had complete privacy. The place itself had everything we needed for our stay. It was quick to heat, it was clean, beautifully styled, full of gorgeous artworks and fittings and the beds were really comfy . We did have to take turns sitting in the best seat in the house, the window seat, to read, knit and play guitar. Emma was fantastic with getting back to us quickly each time we contacted her and was even lovelier in person when she came to check up on us and make sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this cottage to people wanting to stay in and enjoy the surrounding area. We'll be back for sure.

  • A beautiful and relaxing country studio set amongst the trees and wildlife. It felt like our home away from home. The studio was amazing and had everything we needed, including complimentry snacks and a range of books and dvd's for those rainy days. The atmosphere was relaxing and serene and Terry and Fiona were great hosts.

    Jasmin2015-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for everything Fiona - the studio was a delightful place for some rest and relaxation, with lots of thoughtful touches to make the experience extremely comfortable. Really appreciated the excellent quality of the bed, the linens, the towels and the furnishings as well - the space was very clean, tastefully decorated and had a lot of personality. Instructions left in the studio explained everything clearly and gave some great suggestions for where to eat in town. Overall it was a lovely time and wonderful accommodation, thank you for everything!

  • This place was a perfect place for us for our short getaway... Fiona is very thoughtful and prepared everything to perfection. It was winter, and the whole place was very well equipped with heater.. Besides having thestudio equipped with heater air conditioner, she had the electric blanket prepared, heated towel rails and an additional portable Dyson heater if we need to use them... She even prepared snacks, milk and eggs too :-) she has also a list of recommended places to visit with visitor brochures for our reference as well.. Not forgetting the marsallows that were prepared for us to toast when we sat by the fire at the back of the studio and enjoyed the beautiful scenery during sunset :-) There are books, DVDs, cards and games in the studio too.. The entire studio was clean, tidy and so cosy and we really enjoyed our stay there.. Great place and thank you Fiona for everything!!

Musk House is a tastefully decorated 1 bedroom cottage with an en-suite bathroom. The open planned living/dining/ kitchen area is spacious with views out to the garden. There is also a day bed in the sun room, perfect for an afternoon snooze or to relax on with your favourite book.
While the buzz of Daylesford is barely a few minutes drive, here at Musk House is another world of peace and solitude. A stroll through the garden reveals a myriad of wonderful plants and a babbling creek that flows all year round. The large leather sofa is a treasured spot for relaxing with a book, accompanied by foraging birds. Even from inside the cottage, by the warmth of the wood fire or the coolness of the air conditioner with a favourite CD playing, the garden still envelops you with its tranquil ambiance. There is a full kitchen with everything you need to self cater. Breakfast supplies for the first morning are provided consisting of eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, bread, milk, butter, tea and coffee. There is a De Longhi coffee machine with pods for your stay. Cooking oil, salt and pepper can also be found in the pantry. There is a flat screen TV & a DVD player with a stack of DVDs in the drawers for your enjoyment. (Please return discs to their correct case so future guests can also enjoy them) In the bedroom you will find a queen size bed and an ensuite bathroom. Sorry but there is only a shower as we are on tank water out here in the country and filling a bath would be contradictory to good water management practices. I do hope you understand. Musk House is also pet friendly so feel to have your fur baby accompany you on your country escape. I do ask that your well behaved pet is not left inside the cabin unsupervised. The courtyard garden accessed via the back door or the French doors from the sun room, is fully fenced. Pets are not permitted on the furniture or the bed. Please clean up after your dog in the garden. Enjoy a body massage in Daylesford, but experience a massage of the soul at Musk House.
I love that Musk is a delightful little farming community located a short drive out of Daylesford. There are numerous attractions located in Musk such as Passing Clouds winery & Istra small goods farm- who sell products direct to the public at a great price.
  • This is such a gorgeous property. It's easy to see that Martin has paid such attention to detail. Cosy and easy to get to the surrounding areas, and so close to wineries and springs. The only thing to note is the property is on a main road which means there is some noise from the cars that drive past, however this is minimal. The garden is spectacular and we had lovely nights sitting out on the deck drinking local wine and eating cheese. We would definitely return!

    Georgia2017-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, cosy home. Quick communication from owner and the place was warm when we checked in with the fire place ready to go.

    Stella2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Martin, had a lovely weekend at your place. Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a weekend away around the Daylesford area.

    Zoe2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend Musk House, exactly as described in the listing. A very cosy cottage just short drive from Daylesford. We really liked having no reception on our phones which allowed us to just relax. Thank you for the small touch of breakfast supplies, we enjoyed making use of breakfast on the balcony with the beautiful garden views. We took our bikes and rode around locally to the Cidery and Tavern (approx 4km away) which was really enjoyable- recommend! Martin was great to communicate with, quick responses and very informative with his recommendations. Thank you!

    Hayley2015-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at Musk House. It's a very cozy little cottage with beautiful furnishings and great attention to detail to ensure you feel welcome. The quiet location just outside Daylesford was perfect and it was great that we were able to take our dog, without too many restrictions. Martin provided a lot of detailed information on things to do and places to eat, as well as driving directions and excellent communication. He was very prompt at responding to messages. Highly recommended!

    Sue2016-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the booklet that Martin provided for us with suggestion for things to do as well as restaurants and whatnot, tried out a few of his suggestions and they were all amazing! The house itself was very welcoming and had a nice country feel to it, perfect to snuggle in when it was raining outside. We did have some trouble with lighting up the open fire, but the heaters provided enough warmth, especially the electrical blankets, they made the warm nice and cosy for us! Reception was pretty much non-existent, but that was not an issue as we were looking for an escape from work.

    Beini2015-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Musk house was a cute little cottage with everything we needed. Martin responded quickly and was very pleasant to deal with. The location was nice being a little out of the main town but it’s located right on the road which did slightly disturb the otherwise peaceful scenery. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will be back again! Thanks Martin.

    Krista2018-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough about Musk House. We checked in with groceries in hand however, Martin had already stocked the kitchen with milk, bread and breakfast for the next morning! The house is so clean, one of the best we've ever stayed in. The house is very cosy and you can tell it's lovingly cared for. It's only 2 minutes to Daylesford town centre and is a beautiful tranquil spot to relax in! I would highly recommend Must House!

  • Simply gorgeous feel to a very warm and inviting home away from home. The house was perfect for us. Well designed, well presented, well done. Had absolutely everything we needed. Even the towels smelt delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. Would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet house to replenish and rejuvenate. Small drive to Daylesford and surrounding towns. Great base for exploring. Great girls weekend and would definitely return with young families.

Julie and Roel communicated regularly, we were confident with our directions and everything went smoothly. The fire was fantastic! Loved the beds (very comfy), the linen was divine, breakfast provisions were very generous and the stunning decor just made it feel very homely. Thanks again guys!! xx

  • A beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. Such a peaceful escape with all the trimmings.

    Bron and Greg2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wild Duck Cabin is a truly special place and Julie and Roel provided such a warm welcome on a cold evening- with a fire burning, and eggs bacon bread and milk left for our breakfast. The cabin is beautifully decorated and had games for kids and adults and videos for kids and adults as well. The location and views are stunning - with cows wandering by and lovely bird life to enjoy from the deck. This cabin is perfect if you are after a quiet peaceful rejuvenating weekend in the country. We will definitely be booking again!

  • I don't often return to accommodation for a second trip - I can't resist the urge to try something new - but Julie and Roel's place is an exception, I have just returned from my second stay there. It's clean, stylish, comfortable, peaceful, and has everything you need. Great place to stay near the bigger towns of Daylesford and Castlemaine, but remain out of the bustle. The Glenlyon General Store is worth a trip for coffee as well! Thanks again.

  • Mary was there to greet us on our arrival at Cedar Rise Farm. The Barn was a wonderful place to stay with a fantastic courtyard for our little dog. The beds were comfy and the curios were a delight to discover both inside and out. The garden was a great place for an early morning breakfast on a hot day. The magnificent dry stone walls added to the experience. We would love to return one day.

  • Mary was very welcoming and accommodating during our visit to Cedar Rise farm. It is an excellent space in a beautiful location. Looks just as good if not better than the photos. Would visit again, highly recommended.

  • The Barn House was lovely and warm when we arrived and Mary met us and showed us around which was very helpful. The loft was much loved by the small people in our family and they slept up there very happily. Clearly much love has gone into the design of the space which makes it very cosy and inviting.

  • Very welcoming host, home was exactly as we saw it online, just the right place for our stay

    Glenda2015-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy tranquil stay for the weekend. Unfortunately there was a price discrepancy. Initially advertised $249 per night, after contacting the host the price was increased to $290 per night. I brought this up with the host I was told I was getting a special rate and the price is usually $350. Apart from that it was an alright place. Just make sure you check the price before you confirm.

  • Had a fantastic stay at this incredible property! Mary thank you so much for being so welcoming and making this such an awesome and pleasant stay, we wish we had stayed two nights! We will defiantly be back again :-)

Beautiful country setting. Fresh air, horses, birds, ducks, dogs and kangaroos! A modern self-contained guest house complete with air conditioning, bathroom, kitchenette, lounge and dining area. • The apartment was nestled in a beautiful piece of tucked away farmland. Beautiful surrounding valleys and Pinetree lines gravel roads. The unit was clean, neat and perfect for a little get away from Melbourne. Seane left provisions for breakfast, great flexibility around timing, a nice apartment and plenty of privacy.

  • Wilton Farm was beautiful - even better than I'd imagined. The setting was amazing - horses, kangaroos and rabbits in your back yard and absolutely no noise around - and there was plenty of privacy in the unit. The accommodation itself was extremely clean, well appointed, and had plenty of space for a couple. Although we didn't get to meet Seane and Jo, they were very pleasant and easy to communicate with. Wouldn't hesitate recommending this place!

  • Jo and Seane were wonderful hosts. We arrived late for our check-in end this was no problem at all. Their villa contains all the essentials and is only a short drive away from the town. A very enjoyable weekend!

  • What a great start to my Airbnb journey! My first experience and it was a pleasure. This is a beautiful little cottage in a stunning area. Seane was very accommodating for our late check in and left the lights and heater on for us. We had a great stay, would highly recommend. Lovely touches such as a loaf of bread, butter, spreads, coffee, tea etc. Thanks Seane and Jo!

  • My partner and I stayed in Kate' self-contained room for one night in January. The room and bathroom were spacious and the facilities were excellent. Kate communicated promptly and check in and out was easy. Off street parking was also handy (although the street is very quiet). We'll definitely stay here again next time we're up in Woodend!

  • Kate's place is spacious and comfortable...a large studio sized space with an adjoining dressing room, large bathroom and patio area with table and chairs. It's in a peaceful tree lined street close to a nature reserve but about 8 minutes walk from the coffee shops and restaurants in the main (Website hidden by Airbnb) a great location. Highly recommended!

  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Kate’s place in Woodend. The room was large with a comfortable bed and pleasant furnishings. Kate even placed a vase of flowers in the room which was a nice touch. There was also tea, coffee and some breakfast provisions which were gratefully received and appreciated. Overall we found that Kate has provided a charming room with ensuite, located in a lovely garden with a private entrance – we will be back to enjoy your place again. Thankyou Kate.

  • The problem with finding really good Air BnB places is that you want to tell everyone but then fear when you do, the place will ALWAYS be booked out. This home is one such place. The war touches of hospitality. The cosy interior. The stunning 360 degree views. Want to really get away? Come home to this place. Five stars!

  • We had a fantastic experience at Daniel's place. Daniel was very accommodating, the cottage was extremely clean, comfortable beds and excellent amenities. The extra touches made us feel at home. The location is lovely on the outskirts of Woodend and we could've spent many days there relaxing. I would highly recommend Daniel's accommodation to friends and family and would love to visit again!

  • Great Place!

    John2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • I came out to Daniels bnb with my partner and dog for a little getaway from the city and we were not disapointed. The house is situated out of the township of woodend on a large block. The house itself has recently been put together with all the mod cons. Daniel has been the best host we have encountered on air bnb with immediate responses to questions and supplying us with plenty of food for brekky and wood for the fireplace. If you come out to Daniels you will not be disappointed!

    Boden2018-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel's place was a fantastic getaway. The house and land was beautiful and peaceful. Very clean and tidy, comfy bed and fluffy towels. Daniel was a great host, fantastic communication and lots of little thoughtful touches made the stay special.

    Ali2018-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it! My partner and I had a phenomenal stay at this humble yet spacious home. We loved the decor, the thoughtful amenities (Nespresso machine, toiletries), and the food and drinks which Daniel so kindly prepared for us (including a generous breakfast basket in the morning). We felt so welcomed and at home here, well taken care off but still had our own space and privacy (even though the main house is right beside it). Outside the accomodation was a beautiful, simple garden which we could roam for fresh air. The wifi is a little bit slow out here, but that’s the point of escaping a busy city for a place as peaceful as this. Great for enjoying each other’s company or just to explore the local area, walking tracks and the nearby town of Daylesford or Mount Macedon. Our only regret is that we didn’t book for longer - we hope to be back soon with our pet dog. Thanks, Daniel, for the wonderful stay!

However, some of the rooms shown in the photos of his place are not included for the price shown - they are only available with the additional surcharge. We found this misleading and disappointing given that we based our decision to stay here on these photos. The second bedroom doubled as the living area, and there was only a single seat couch, which meant there was limited space to relax unless sitting around a small table or lying on a bed. The spa could also have been cleaner.

    Ben2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Danny's place is gorgeous. It's very close to Melbourne (an hour) so easy to get to on a Friday night after work. At the same time, it feels secluded. The gardens and surroundings of the house are what makes this place so great. We spent the entire weekend on the property cooking and enjoying the open fire and outdoor spa. I would highly reccommend this place but we aware before booking that the owners live on the property so you will likely see them walking around and pottering in the gardens. We didn't expect this and were initially feeling a bit awkward but got used to it and had a great time.

  • We spent one night here. The situation is lovely; a comfortable house set in lovely gardens. It is quiet and private. Ruth is a friendly host and we enjoyed our chat over breakfast. The breakfast itself was good and generous. I would happily stay here again.

Comfortable and welcoming country lodge set on 4 acres of beautiful Australian bushland and landscaped gardens. Located only 2km's from Woodend in cool country Macedon Ranges. A cosy fireplace inside complements a stunning outdoor setting that is home to kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and the odd koala. Woodend is a pretty and happening little town, great for walks, vineyards, a terrific microbrewery and mountain biking. We are a 2 minute drive or a 20 minute stroll to town.
This much loved home is very cosy and complete with every convenience to make your stay welcoming and relaxing. Perfect for a couple's weekend escape or a family trip. Children will enjoy the play area that includes a cubby house, swing and 1/2 basketball court.
  • Good quiet get away

    Steven2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Duck Tree Lodge!! The kids loved playing in the cubby, spotting wildlife and digging in the sandpit. There was plenty of space for our family of four and my in-laws. Bianca was really helpful and made our stay easy and enjoyable. We will definitely love to stay there again!

    Krista2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spot, close to town, but still in your own secluded spot

    Tim2017-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Duck Tree Lodge, it was perfect for visiting our family in the Woodend/ Macedon Ranges area. The photos of the home don't do it justice - its very specious and beautifully presented on a large, peaceful bush block. It was very close to Woodend and lots of other attractions within the Macedon Ranges area. The house is nicely furnished and the lounge room was very comfortable for enjoying nights by the fire. The large outdoor dining table was also perfect for evening meals. The home was perfect for our young children under 3. The garden is gorgeous and the cubby house and sandpit were a huge hit! The high chair and toy box provided were also very helpful. The master was quite large, and offered plenty of room for our portacot. The master is also at the far end of the house, offering lots of privacy or a quiet spot for small children to sleep. The house was incredibly clean, and Bianca left some fresh flowers and great local tips. While we didn't meet Bianca in person, she was always very prompt and friendly in her communication. We would love to stay again!

    Sarah2018-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • This house was so beautiful, peaceful, and clearly loved. The surrounding bush was so peaceful to wake up to, with plenty of birds. The house was so spacious, but it didn't feel empty or ostentatious. With 8 adults there was plenty of space to sit and chat in the evenings together or find a quiet corner and read. We had brunch in Woodend on Sunday at the Village Larder, which is a great cafe that caters to all dietary requirements and them some! Will definitely visit again.

    Lana2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We copped a cool wet weekend but it was very cosy inside with the wood fire and open plan living space. The house is very clean and well set up for a vacation stay, short or long. Woodend and surrounds has a lot to offer for a longer stay, maybe next time.

    Tony2017-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous place in midst of forest. Great for families.

    Cheryl2018-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • By far one of the best places we've found on our Airbnb stays. Surrounded by nature on such a beautiful bush block we felt worlds away from everything although Woodend was only minutes away and very walkable. It was a wonderful place to relax, unwind sit back and drink it all in. We appreciated the tasteful furnishings, cosy fireplace and master bedroom with views out to the forrest. With so much for kids to do we are sure families would LOVE this place. Thank you Matt and Bianca for sharing your piece of paradise with us. We can't wait to be back.

  • Thanks for the extra effort ensuring we had a microwave for all we needed. Brian really goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need without being intrusive at all. Thanks for your hospitality!

  • My girlfriend and I had a really nice relaxing time at Brian's retreat in Woodend. Our room was lovely, with a cosy comfy bed and views out to the garden. We had our own private bathroom with beautiful Sukin products provided, and our own private lounge area with a big tv, mini fridge and tea/coffee/milk. There was even a fresh loaf of bread laid out for us with butter and spreads. Brian is a lovely fella, very welcoming and helpful but also conscious of giving us our own space. He is also a talented craftsman and we were treated to a guided tour of his workshop (which is well worth a look). We are already planning a return trip (we want to meet the dogs next time!) Thanks very much for having us Brian - we really loved it.

    Sophie2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Brian's house was spacious, neat, clean and comfortable. The private room we had with attached private living area was very warm - perfect for a cold night in Woodend. • Woodend Retreat offers very comfortable, stylish and peaceful accommodation. The private sitting room is a real plus. The host respects privacy but is still available for help. Beautiful gardens and birdlife. Lovely touches such as a loaf of home made fresh bread. About 4 mins from Woodend Main Street. Would recommend.

  • Our stay at Brian's was fantastic! Brian and his wonderful dogs greeted us warmly. Brian's space was warm and inviting, our own private lounge was lovely with comfy couches and Foxtel which was a nice touch. We loved the tasty loaf of bread and condiments. The bed was comfy and warm, the soaps and shampoos in the bathroom were great and the shower pressure was awesome! We would not hesitate to stay again! Thanks Brian!

  • Natalie's place is gorgeous and I would recommend it to anyone. The location is beautiful, she is a great and thoughtful host, it is brilliant for families, my boys loved all the toys and also playing outside in the trampoline and the tree house.

  • Nat's cottage was a stunning getaway for our family. The kids absolutely loved being on the farm with the horses and chooks. The cottage is perfectly kitted out for the kids and babies. And to top it off, Nat's kids were so open and playful with our young ones. We loved our visit and will def be back

Chickens and horses to watch and listen too and to top off our weekend...Natalie had a fire pit crackling for us on our last night which made it a really special weekend.

  • Though simple, we had a lovely little winter getaway in the little house on Natalie and family's property, just out of Woodend. Unfortunately, as a family, we all had varying stages of flu (and our 2 year old daughter a bad ear infection) but enjoyed nonetheless having a few nights away. Our daughter loved the animals, seeing kangaroos, horses and the family dog!

    Madeleine2018-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very stylish and comfortable place to stay and is an easy walk to the Woodend shops. We particularly liked the very comfy king size bed and bath. The only downside is that it is on a relatively busy road (for a country town) so there is a bit of traffic noise during the day but that was only a slight distraction. Overall it’s a great place to stay and we recommend it if you’re heading to Woodend.

  • We literally just used the accommodation to sleep in so really couldn't offer any other comments.

  • This cottage is beautifully secluded - it's incredibly peaceful. We felt relaxed as soon as we walked in the door. There's a fantastically large showerhead for soothing showers after hiking (which we enjoyed in nearby Mt Macedon). The main bedroom is beautifully appointed (we didn't use the second bedroom as we just stayed as a couple) and the kitchen and lounge areas are spacious with lovely views of the garden. Loved the quirky artworks in the garden and inside the cottage. We found this a gorgeously relaxing stay and plan to stay for a longer period next time. Liz and Dan

  • Vicki is a great host and made me feel like I was at home. The room is clean, comfy and i found myself wanting for nothing. Also, the shower is really nice. Woodend feels like a place one could happily sit back and watch the world go by.

  • Vicki was a great host. She was very easy to communicate with before we arrived and provided us with helpful information about the area when we were there. It is a nice house in the lovely town of Woodend. We had a pleasant stay.

  • Vicki was waiting for us when we finally arrived, had a little trouble finding Brook Street which we had to take to get to Vicki's street, street was not signed posted so ended up calling in at the I Centre. Vicki was at work for several hours each night while we stayed so we had the company of her four cats. Cottage was as depicted in photos, bed very comfortable and able to watch TV in lounge area if we wished. We were made welcome on arrival.

Come and stay! Totally private area with lovely views from the windows. Two rooms plus private bathroom. House directly opposite the Woodend station. Walk across the road and you're there!
This area is inside our house but it feels like a separate place so I have listed it as such. The rooms are upstairs in a private setting where you can be self contained. Next to the bedroom is a sitting room with a table/chairs and wardrobe. Here you can make tea/coffee/toast as well as use the microwave. There is also a fridge. The bathroom is beside the bedroom. You will find extra blankets in the wardrobe and the bed has an electric blanket if you need.
We are in the centre of town, opposite the station with the bush just at the end of the street as well. All seasons are beautiful. Autumn leaves, snow at times in Winter. Not too hot in Summer and daffodils galore in Springtime. Close to Mount Macedon and Hanging Rock. Daylesford and surrounds in 30 minutes.....bus to Daylesford across the road at the station. Crisp fresh air. Quiet and relaxing environment. Lovely Main Street with oodles of cafes. Woodend is a beautiful town and the surrounding Macedon Ranges provides plenty of stunning scenery and activities for visitors. If you have time pop out to Hanging Rock.
  • Thank you, will use again

  • A small, custom built, 3 room unit with your own entrance set in a beautiful garden with views over the countryside and just on the edge of town. Easy few minutes to the shops and cafes. Facilities were good - good shower, comfortable bed and very effective heating. Loved the occasional sound of a steam train arriving in town. I would certainly recommend it.

  • We had a great stay at Annie's place. The space was clean, comfortable and welcoming. The location is very convenient, and Annie was easy to communicate with. We don't tend to normally book air bnb unless it's the whole residence, so we were pleasantly surprised by how private it was and the amount of space.

  • We stayed over one night at this property in Woodend. It is so close to everything you need in the region. We had an event at the Mount Macedon Winery on the Saturday night and I would definitely suggest checking this out if you're in the area. It's a nice 6 minute drive from the property and it's a beautiful lunch stop. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was nice and big with great water pressure in the shower. We were greeted on the day of arrival and were shown how to access the room above the house. Thank you very much for your hospitality. We were also very grateful to be offered to be driven down to the event at Mount Macedon that we had on the Saturday night, what a lovely gesture, thank you. When we are down in the region again, we will definitely be staying here again as it was clean, comfortable and very local. Thank you once again.

  • We enjoyed our overnight stay at Annie's. It was a perfect setup; basic provisions, comfy bed and a welcoming, homely feel. The accommodation is an easy walk to main street.

  • We had a great mini break. Quiet and cosy, Annie's lovely rooms helped us achieve a deep rest in a short time. Excellent communication, and no need for a car from Melbourne as it's close to everything (but still so quiet!). Highly recommend!

Feel yourself unwind as you meander down the 1km drive to Five Mile - a private, generously proportioned contemporary home built for all seasons. The house cleverly frames views to Mount Macedon and Hanging Rock. Enjoy the peace in an authentic Australian country setting. Read a book in a sunny nook, sit on the deck and watch the magnificent sunsets, cuddle up by the fire or have a long soak in a hot bath. Perfect for groups who would like a beautiful place to sew, walk, cycle or just relax.
  • We had a fantastic stay at Sarah and Stephen's mansion! The place is huge and was perfect for a large gathering or family get together. Sarah had the wood fire going for us on arrival and the house was equipped with everything we needed and lots of delicious food and snacks. Multiple people from my group mentioned that they were planning to come back either with family or cycling groups to enjoy this beautiful accommodation. Couldn't recommend Sarah and Stephen's place more!!!

  • There is a unsealed road into the property and it is some distance from the the road but it is worth the trip in with beautiful views. Our four grandchildren loved the ducks on the dam and collecting the eggs. So many rooms to chose from . beautiful rustic home. Loved it. Hostess came to visit. Easy to talk to and explained all we needed to know.

    Sally2018-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent stay peaceful and quiet, no neighbors.

    Andrew2018-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Stephen are fantastic hosts. The property is accurately described on the website and in the photos. The property is clean and well looked after. It is very spacious inside and outside. It was very comfortable for our group of 12 (6 adults and 6 kids). Kids loved when Sarah showed them her animals and allowed to collect fresh chicken eggs from her chickens. The kitchen is well equipped and convenient. The hosts have kindly provided supplies for a nice breakfast. The bathrooms are stocked up with necessities such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper. The bedrooms are very spacious and have comfortable beds. The property has large windows, which provide lots of natural light and ensure that you are always surrounded by beautiful scenery. I have no hesitation in recommending this property.

  • This is the most amazing place we have ever stayed in. Located in the midst of a farm, the outlook is beautiful and relaxing, with the water in front of us and Hanging Rock in the distance. An abundance of comfortable beds with warm doonas and good pillows make it a terrific place for two families easily. This is backed up with a large dining table and plenty of crockery etc. Everything has been thought of, and the food on arrival was fantastic. The chooks supplied us with fresh eggs each day which were delicious. We walked into Woodend each day, which is about 3 kms away. Hosts Sarah and Stephen are welcoming and helpful. We will be back!

  • This is a beautiful home that has spectacular views across the paddocks to Hanging Rock. We had a large family gathering there over Easter and the home was comfortable for ages 0-90 years. The house is both beautiful and functional with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and large living areas with floor to ceiling windows that take advantage of the landscape. This lovely home helped to make our family gathering over the Easter weekend to be relaxing and rejuvenating. We are hoping to return for Easter next year!

    Gary2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, comfortable home with spectacular views. Central fireplace a feature in this architecturally designed home with all amenities. Sarah and Steven very welcoming.

    Denise2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • A big thank you to Sarah and Stephen who were excellent hosts. They were very helpful and provided quick responses and feedback whenever I had any queries and nothing was too much trouble. You immediately feel your stress levels dissipate with the location of the house looking out onto a little dam and a classic Australian farmland landscape with Hanging Rock seeming like only a stones throw away. The accomodation is very comfortable and easily catered for 10 guests with the fireplace the drawcard and main social hub. A fully decked out kitchen means you can either eat in and have a “family” dinner around the giant dining table or head into Woodend for some pub grub. Highly recommended, will definitely be taking a crew back there in the future.
