  • Experiences like staying with Alan are the reason we would choose Airbnb over a hotel anytime. Alan is a great host. He showed us around on his very big property and got us acquainted with a local artist. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped. The location is great if you are looking for a quiet getaway from the city. Communication with Alan was easy. We'd definitely recommend staying there and hope we can come back some day.

  • What an amazing place and great host! Peaceful location, bay and trails nearby. 10 minutes away from Bar Harbor. Cute cozy cabin with great views. Alan, the owner a talented musician and warm person provided a site tour of the premises. Ideal for couples and families to relax! Highly recommended

  • Alan was a wonderful host. He was easy to communicate with and had lots of great information about local things to do and places to see. The cabin was warm and cozy. We had everything we needed and really enjoyed our stay.

    Susan2016-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Alan was very welcoming and had some great recommendations for hidden treasures in his rural neighborhood.

    Jade2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Alan's cottage was cute and cozy and has some nice views on a clear day. Alan is a nice, flexible host, as he showed us the concert hall (converted barn) on the site. The location was a twenty minute drive to downtown Ellsworth and about forty-five minutes to Acadia national park. There were nearby trails that Alan pointed out, though we didn't have time to explore. The only thing I would point out is that the bed is in a loft that requires you climb a ladder. You can see it in the picture and it wasn't an issue for us. Overall, it was a great and affordable way to be near Acadia.

    Travis2014-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great property and very welcoming host to talk to. Thank you Alan

    Liviu2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place! Alan was a gracious, helpful host and the location was idyllic. The cottage was well stocked, including the kitchen, which had everything I needed to cook meals. A perfect place to visit if you are looking for some R&R in a scenic location. I will be sure to return!

  • We were lucky to stay in this beautiful place and to know Alan. The cabin is very well situatated 30-40 min from the entrance of the Acadia nayional park. It's located in Surry in a magic environement. The place is warm and very clean. It has all the comforts and even more (a full beautifull working piano). The bed is really comfy and it was easy for us as a family to find our space. But the best part of our stay was to get to know Alan who's a wonderfull person. It was really interesting to get to know all the history of the place, to discover the buddhist place, to hear him playing the piano with our little 2ys old child and once we have had dinner together. He had as well very good tips to discover the local activities: the bakery is really good by the way and the hike on the blue hill mountain was really nice. We strongly advise this place, it was one of the best airbnb experience and we hope we'll come back once to spend more time!

  • Really love this house. Clean, cozy, warm, and lots of fun. Though didn't meet Marc, he's very kindness to help us a lot. What a wonderful host. 5 Stars!Thank you, Marc.

  • Marc is great host! His house has a lot of character. We enjoyed our short stay and loved the location.

    Suzanne2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was a good experience. Great location. Walking distance to many places (including the Bar Island) Mark was a great host. Had warm cider ready for us daily.

    Hanna2015-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a wonderful stay with Marc. He was extremely helpful and accommodating, from recommending hikes to making sure I had everything I needed for an impromptu phone interview! The house was cozy, clean and perfectly located. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend Marc as a host.

    Amanda2015-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Marc's historic home was such an interesting place to stay with all his collections. He was friendly and we enjoyed talking to him about the history of his home and the books and paintings. His backyard was a great place for breakfast and an easy walk to Bar Harbor. We're really glad that we stayed there and would recommend his place to others.

    Maxine2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Marc was so welcoming when I arrived, it felt like I was staying with family. My friend and I stayed in the Eves Room, which was perfect for 2 people. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. While it was the off season and not a lot of places are open, Marc gave great recommendations on where to eat and what to do. The house is in a fantastic location, everything was within walking distance. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again if/when back in Bar Harbor.

    Erin2015-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Marc's place (and Bar Harbor in general) were a magical little getaway! His home is conveniently located right next to the town shops and restaurants, and his hospitality made our stay feel like a fun adventure. He was very helpful, warm, and also hilarious. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Affectionately known as The Love Shack, this guest cottage is located in the quiet town of Winter Harbor, Maine. Surrounded by woods and perennial beds, it is completely private. A stone's throw from the ocean, guests can sit and enjoy the view of lobster boats , seagulls, loons and eagles. Sunsets from here are not to be missed. Cabin includes: queen-size bed, kitchenette, WiFi and HD T.V. with access to kayaks, bicycles and the eastern part of Acadia National Park known as Schoodic Point. It is close to restaurants, grocery store, bank and Post Office. Also, there is ferry service to Bar Harbor available June 20th through Labor Day.
  • Everything was perfect & cozy at the Love Shack. We really enjoyed our weekend here. The cabin had everything we needed to make for a relaxing, stress free stay. We came when the town was going into "off season" mode but we did find wonderful places to eat and lots to do. The sunsets were gorgeous and it was very close to Schoodic. We didn't get to kayak since the weather was chilly and the waves were high but we enjoyed walks on the beach! We would definitely recommend staying at the Love Shack and we appreciate Bob & Hope letting us use this space for a very nice, relaxing weekend. As hosts, they were always available and left plenty of information about the area.

    Michelle2014-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect place to stay! The guest cottage is very comfortable, quiet, meticulously clean, and updated with amenities and technology. The pictures (or any pictures, really) just don't capture the charm of the place. The setting is seriously beautiful and thankfully isolated - and the small town of Winter Harbor is less than a 5-minute drive to get provisions, coffee, and bites to eat. Visitors to Acadia should seriously consider staying in Winter Harbor to escape the crowds in Bar Harbor. The hosts are super kind, accommodating, and hands-off. They invited us to use their rec equipment (bikes, kayaks, etc.), guided us to local events and sights, and urged us to access the main house for anything we needed. I shouldn't even be sharing so that we can keep this place a secret for ourselves..

    Alexander2012-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Bob and Hope's "Love Shack" is a beautiful place to stay and relax. They are wonderful hosts and give great information about restaurants and local things to do. We will definitely stay there again.

    Debi2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Love Shack! It was cozy and clean, and had everything we could possibly need and more, we loved the wine and granola! The view from the back was beautiful, and we even ran into Bob and Hope who were warm and welcoming. We loved how close we were to Schoodic Point and took multiple trips during our stay. We would definitely stay here again!

    Emily2016-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is so cute and the view is incredible!

    Rachael2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the cabin. The location couldn't be more beautiful and the hosts were very welcoming. The cabin was perfectly clean and we felt welcome to enjoy the house's waterfront views and recreation equipment, while still maintaining the private and quiet feel of the cabin. We hope we can make it back next year!

    Kelly2012-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Love Shack was perfect. The guest cabin is private, comfy and adorable. Robert and Hope were great hosts who made sure we had everything we could possibly need — including guidebooks, restaurant recommendations and wine. We loved exploring Winter Harbor and the Schoodic Peninsula. And it was just an hour's drive to Bar Harbor. It was wonderful to be so close to Mount Desert but far enough away, so that we could enjoy the quieter, less touristy parts of Acadia National Park. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend away. Thanks, Robert and Hope!

    Deborah2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous experience. The location is right on the lake. The facilities are wonderful and Bob & Hope, as hosts were just the best. We could not recommend this highly enough!

Charming cabin-inspired efficiency apartment on a quiet side street in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor. Just a stone's throw (literally) from Main St and a minute walk down the street to the ocean and Bar Harbor's famous Shore Path. High speed wifi, SmartTV with Netflix provided (HBO, Hulu, Amazon, etc. are available to use with your own account), communal washer/dryer just outside your door, large closet, hair dryer, assorted supplies, Bose bluetooth player, and snacks.
Snug, intimate space that's perfect for couples looking for something well-situated and well-appointed. Decorated with antique maps of Mount Desert Island, Maine, and many books about the history of this area. The pristine bathroom has luxurious towels, heated marble floor, and a spa-quality shower big enough for two. The communal yard has a fire pit and a lighted bocce court for you to enjoy. Just outside your door is a large deck with a gas bbq grill. There is no kitchen here, but you are provided with a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave.
Albert Meadow is a quaint street with quiet neighbors. Grab breakfast only a few minutes away at my favorite joint, or make yourself some coffee and walk a minute down the street to catch the sunrise over Frenchman Bay.
  • Amazing!! One of our best Air BnB stays yet. Gorgeous place with an amazing location. But the best bits were the fire pit and bocci ball area. So much fun!!! And Michael was the most thoughtful, nice and easy to communicate with host. We come to Bar Harbor every few years and this will definitely be our first choice from now on.

    Lindsay2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic spot, gorgeous decor, excellent host! This little studio is the perfect base from which to explore Bar Harbor, Acadia, and the surrounding area. Michael was friendly and super accommodating and his place was exactly as pictured. We will definitely be back.

  • We feel so lucky to have found this very special home. Jim and Michelle's house had everything our family needed and more. The restored cottage and garden were beautiful; Jim and Michelle gave attention to every detail. The kitchen and lobster cook area outside were well organized and stocked with all the equipment. Notes throughout the house gave helpful tips and instructions. Our vacation went more smoothly than we could have imagined, thanks to Jim and Michelle. Beyond the beautiful house, the location in Winter Harbor was a pure delight. Every day we found a new treasure in the area - a small sand beach, watching lobster boats at the end of Harbor Road, ice cream at the local restaurant, a playground perfect for our kids. And there are no words for the stunning views at the park in the Schoodic Peninsula. We can't wait to come back and explore more. I highly recommend Jim and Michelle's home for an amazing vacation you won't soon forget.

    Louisa2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • I was concerned about the home being on a busy street but that did not bother us at all. It was really nice to be within walking distance from the 5 & 10, Gerrish, IGA, and the wharf.

    Jennifer2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful cottage! Beautiful and quiet location close to all Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park have to offer. A little gem!!

3 bedrooms, sleeps 6 (2 rooms with double beds and one with twin beds), one bath, large living room/kitchen/dining room, washer & dryer, garage, sheets, towels, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, a short walk to town. Guests return. The house is a comfortable family home, neat and clean, but not fancy.
Right on the water — so close, it's like being on a boat — with great view of the harbor. Sit at the table, watching seagulls, bald eagles, the tide come in and out — Downeast Maine at its best.
  • The best part of staying here was just watching the tides come in and go out-- what an amazing experience! We also really liked Winter Harbor and the Schoodic peninsula. It was a long drive from the main part of Acadia, but doable. The house itself was older and could use some remodeling, but felt spacious and roomy for our family of 4.

  • Wharton wasn't there when we arrived (of course, because it was really late at night) but the check-in process was so smooth, we couldn't have asked for better :) Wharton never failed to respond back to us within 24 hours. He was really nice and the house was just so gorgeous! We loved our stay here, and we would love to come back! I recommend staying here.

  • Great place situated on the water. Very scenic and convenient. All the amenities needed were present. A nice place to stay while in Winter Harbor!

    Tony2015-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wharton has a comfortable cozy home right on the water! During the day, you can see the boats hanging out on the water and the homes from a distance. It’s in a fairly secluded area with lots of privacy. The small town is only a few minutes away with several restaurants and a grocery store. The house has everything in it, including a washer & dryer. It has several rooms and would be perfect for a family. It’s not a modern home, but it’s homey and comfortable. It’s exactly as the photos are. Upon arrival, we didn’t receive check-in information so we contacted him. Wharton lives in Philadelphia so we didn’t actually meet him, but he gave us the contact info for the caretaker in case we needed anything. This home is very close to Schoodic, and about an hour from Bar Harbor if you want to see the rest of Arcadia Park. We stayed at his home for 2 nights and it was perfect.

    Stacy2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wharton was a fantastic host! Even before my stay, he followed up with me and made sure all my questions were answered. The house is very nice and cozy and fit my group perfectly. I wish I could have stayed an extra day (but someone else booked it)!

Arjaluth's Garden is a small, efficiency apartment with sleeping loft, kitchenette, and private bath within walking distance of Acadia National Park and the village of Bar Harbor. There are hiking trails, restaurants, art galleries, shopping, and public transport close by. Set back from the street, the location is quiet, with a patio and gardens adjacent. A sweet spot for couples or solo adventurers. The sleeping loft is accessible via a Captain's ladder, so guests need to be reasonably agile.
Arjaluth's Garden is a sweet, cozy studio nestled off-street among ferns and flowers. It has a secluded feeling. A great place for a romantic getaway or a private retreat. You have your own kitchen with fridge, double hotplate, coffee & tea kettle, and a toaster oven. There is a spacious sleeping loft, however the center ridge line is only 5'6", so if you are quite tall you'll have to watch your head! It's best reserved for the activity of sleeping and napping. You are welcome to use the adjacent patio and grill, please be aware that sound travels and it is a closely built neighborhood. Your host lives on the premises and is available to help with recommendations for great places to eat, the best hiking trails, and popular locally supported businesses. There are two cats and a friendly dog at the host residence.
Bar Harbor is a unique village located on Mount Desert Island, Maine, and adjacent to the popular Acadia National Park. There is a small town, earthy vibe....You can easily walk into the village for eating and shopping and entertainment, or walk/drive/bike into Acadia National Park and pick up carriage roads, hiking paths, or the Park Loop Road.
  • The place was great. Perfect location, clean and very cozy. Great hosts, would definitely recommend. Thank you for a wonderful time in Bar Harbor, we hope to be back!

  • Deborah is wonderful and Bar Harbor is jaw-droppingly beautiful.

    Bradford2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it! Great neighborhood: close enough to walk in to town for great restaurants, groceries, buses and ferries, but far enough away to be quiet at night. We didn't use our car for four days. The house is clean and well-laid out for its size, and nicely decorated. The kitchen is nicely stocked with basics (salt pepper olive oil good coffee) and functional equipment. The house has its own patio in a small garden that is like a living room, and is a great place to eat breakfast or have a beer in the evening. The house is quite small but was perfect for my wife and I as we are smaller people. It might not be great for bigger couples, or those that would have trouble climbing the ladder to the loft. Deborah was a pleasure to deal with, friendly and accommodating our requests. We would would certainly come back to stay in the future

    David2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was just what we were looking for for our vacation. We loved being close to town but in a quiet neighborhood. Deborah was a wonderful host and the small space provided everything that we wanted and needed to enjoy a week away from home. We really hope to get back soon!

  • Staying at Brian's place was super convenient and made my trip to Bar Harbor quite nice. Easy access to the shops and restaurants. Acadia is practically his backyard. Beautiful place to visit and would highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a reasonably priced spot in Bar Harbor. Brain himself was kind, quiet and relaxed. I didn't feel uncomfortable sharing the space with him. Everything is as described in the listing.

  • Brian was a great host. He was friendly and offered tips on local restaurants. Room was clean and fresh towels were provided. The location is a few blocks from the center of Bar Harbor, but on a quiet side street so you don't get stuck hearing lots of traffic.

    Jon2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Brian's place fit our needs perfectly. Great find. Room is as advertised.

  • Brian was a great host and very helpful! The bed was very comfortable and house was clean. Would stay here again if we come back to Bar Harbor.

    Darrell2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Brian's place is central to the downtown Bar Harbor scene and he himself is very knowledgeable about Bar Harbor and Acadia. He was super friendly and helpful and the first thing he said was "mi casa es tu casa" if that gives you any indication of his personality. His place was clean and the bed was comfortable. Definitely recommend to anybody looking for a central Bar Harbor spot to stay.

    Cory2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location with parking just a few minutes walk from the heart of Bar Harbor and a few minutes drive to Acadia. The room and house were clean and perfect for our needs. As a life long resident, Brian can offer specific recommendations on restaurant and the area, in addition to quick responses. A perfect location for our perfect trip!!!

    Jeff2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely first floor apartment, open dining and living area with many real plants, insanely close to eating and shops , great that you can leave your car at Brian’s and walk to things! Brian is generous with advice on how to enjoy yourself in Bar Harbor!

    Dora2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Brian's helpful instructions and good communication helped us find his place (even in the pouring rain in the dark!). Great location, well equipped, cozy home. Walking distance to all necessary shops and a great pub. Would stay again!

  • Incredible experience. The room was spotless, pleasant staff and great location.

    Brent2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The facility was better than described, in an amazing location and walking distance to anything that you would want to see or would need. It's just a hop skip and a jump up to Cadillac Mountain for an early sunrise, while taking a nice piping hot cup of coffee to help keep you warm. Peter and the rest of the staff were very helpful, very pleasant and easy to work with. It will definitely be on our list of places to stay when we return to the lovely Northeast.

  • Excellent little hotel definitely the place to stay if there's vacancy. Such great employees. Very accommodating!

  • Perfect little hotel located right in the heart of Bar Harbor. We got in late at night and they were really accommodating. We only stayed a night but it was a great experience and we'd definitely stay there again if we were in the area!

    Sara2015-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great experience staying here. The location cannot be beat! The Hotel was very quaint and we appreciated the fire out front and the pastries in the morning. I would definitely stay here again!

  • This was our second time coming to Acadia and staying at the Acadia Hotel. It is so beautiful and the perfect location! The hosts are wonderful and the place is exactly what you would hope for. We have already booked once more for next year as the place truly is a gem of the town.

    Kirsten2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and great location. Room was clean and bright. The 2nd night there was a mouse in the ceiling that kept us awake all night plus some sort of dripping noise in the bathroom ceiling. This ruined the overall experience for us. Also...I was puzzled that while the place was advertised at $99 the rate ended up at over $150 per night.

    Robert2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was exactly what we were hoping for. The charm of an old house with modern comdpfort modifications. They upgraded us to a king size bedroom. It was very clean with an air conditioner, flat screen tv and large new bathtub/shower. They offered very sweet details such as chilled lemonade and water out on the wrap around porch, fire pits with sitting areas as well as coffee in the morning. Ideal location one block from the main steer. We have already been recommending it to friends and will be back!!

  • Beautifully renovated, clean, nicely furnished, and decorated house close to he center of Winter Harbor and the entrance to the Schoodic area of Acadia National Park (and next door to a leading art gallery). Patrick really shared his house with us and we felt at home from the first moment. Nice bedroom, comfortable bed. Sharing the bathroom not an issue at all. Patrick has great tips for visiting the area (hikes, antiques, art) and his vegetable and berry garden provides delicious fresh fare. We learned how to properly cut Basil. ;-)) Winter Harbor may be a little off the beaten track, but well worth a visit.

    Susann2015-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick is very welcome. The description is accurate, and the neighborhood is nice and quiet.

    Hua2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • So glad we found Patrick's place! Quick and easy communication while we were making our plans, and when we arrived, found the place exactly as described - so charming, clean, and the comfiest bed! But the best part of our stay was Patrick's thoughtful presence - available if we needed him, and just a text away when we needed a reminder of information he'd mentioned the night before. He helped steer us toward a couple of off the beaten bath experiences, and - very kindly - away from tourist traps. This was a charming stay in a small town - away from the throngs of tourists in Bar Harbor - and a car trip to Acadia took about 50 minutes. We opted not to take the ferry to Bar Harbor (only because we wanted an earlier start on the day than the ferry schedule allowed) - but the ferry is just a short walk from Patrick's house. We had a lovely stay - thank you for being such a wonderful host, Patrick! We're only sorry we couldn't stay a little longer :-(

    Kathy & Roy2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to stay. Patrick made us feel totally at home. We had wide ranging conversations covering food, politics and travel. He gave us great tips about the area, and was really generous with the produce of his garden. Jan's also looking forward to trying out his recipe for the great apple butter he let us have. Only drawback- we couldn't stay longer.

    Andy2016-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfection! Everything about our stay with Patrick was fantastic. The home is cozy and inviting and a stone throw from the beautiful Schoodic trails. Patrick made us feel right at home with his warm personality and wonderful bakes. We can't wait to return again. The Maine life at its finest.

    Sara2017-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick was a kind and gracious host. His home is immaculate & tastefully decorated. We enjoyed our visit very much. Would definitely recommend staying with him.

  • We have two two wonderful nights at Winter Harbor at Patrick's home, Patrick and his house are all very decent, he got prepared for us arriving and left us stuff without any issue but convince from every perspective, eg. perfect mattress and clean tissues, etc. I'd love to have a house like it when I was old.

Lovely home with plenty of room for adults and children. Just down the road from the marina for the ferry to Bar Harbor. The Island Explorer bus will pick you up right in front of the house. Within walking distance to shops and galleries downtown.
Our house is an upside down house with bedrooms on the first floor and living, dining and kitchen on the upper level. Upstairs is a large, open, bright space for gathering and enjoying lobster dinners. There are two sliding doors that open to a sunny deck with a view of the ocean. Two queen bedrooms, one double and one bedroom with a set of bunk beds and a full size bed.
Located in the friendly and charming fishing village of Winter Harbor where you can find family-owned art galleries, shops and restaurants. Fresh live lobsters can be bought from the local lobster co-op. There is a golf course in town where the ocean can be viewed from all 9 holes. Schoodic Point, part of Acadia National Park, is a short car or bus ride away. Bring your bike and explore the many new bike trails in the park. Purchase homemade treats and locally grown produce at the farmer's market held every Tuesday. Excellent mackerel and squid fishing off the docks.
  • House waa welcoming and warm. Great communication prior and overall a wonderful experience.

    Karl2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we stepped into the house and found a lovely handwritten welcome note, an area map, and some delicious homemade blueberry jam, Lori made us feel welcome. The house was large and clean and stocked with amenities that made meant our family could "move" right in and enjoy our time together. Sheets, towels, a well appointed kitchen, bicycles, and (maybe our favorite) a bookcase FULL of board games, were all there for our use. The location of the house was ideal. After the crowds of Bar Harbor, we enjoyed ending our days in this quiet and peaceful little town and discovered that this part of Acadia has much to offer itself. We enjoyed biking on the carriage roads of the park, climbing the rocks on the shore, and sampling the restaurants in town (especially enjoyed Chase's clam chowder!). Thank you to Lori for a really fantastic family vacation.

    Jeanne2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were welcomed by Lori and Mike. Lovely jars of homemade jams, information on the area, and a beautiful card by a local artist. The home is beautiful, perfectly appointed with everything, and more, than required! Perfect place for a family gathering. So many things to do nearby, Thank you very much Lori and Mike. • My friends and I had a wonderful time at Winter Harbor. Lori and Mike were very helpful and made our stay even better. At our arrival, Lori even gave us a tour of the town and she left us some AMAZING homemade blueberry jam. We also had both their cellphone numbers in case we had questions and they made it clear we could communicate with them anytime. The house was clean and the beds were very comfortable; we really felt at home. The two bathrooms are also newly renovated (we were the first ones to use them!). Although most of the shops and restaurants were closed (Lori explained they mostly open during Memorial Day weekend), we didn't mind driving to nearby towns. Yes, Winter Harbor is a bit far from larger towns, but trust me it is worth it. The town is quiet and peaceful and the people who live there are very nice. We highly recommend the Pickled Wrinkle restaurant (Lori's suggestion). In all, we had a great time and this is my best Airbnb experience so far! Thank you Lori & Mike :) Gabrielle, Angelica, Fannie, Auriane, Chloé, Marie, & Valérie

  • We loved the house, we love the location! Away from craziness, the Schoodic Peninsula is the perfect place for vacation. Lori is an amazing host, the house has everything you need, comfortable beds, great couches, lots of entertainment and a great view! We highly recommend this place, it is amazing!!! We had a great time,!! Thanks Lori for letting us stay at your beautiful home!

  • Lori and Mike where the most wonderful hosts and really put time and thought into making guests' stays the best they can be! Lori was extremely responsive to any questions prior to our stay and was available via phone/text during our stay. The house was a great space for a family of 4 adults and 2 young children- it was so nice to be able to spread out and still have room to spare. The kids enjoyed playing on the enclosed porch. From the welcome note and gift of Lori's homemade blueberry jelly to the variety of resources and books about the area- everything you need is there! The location of the house is pretty perfect- the free Island Explorer bus will pick you up and drop off right outside and take you to the Schoodic peninsula of Acadia or into Winter Harbor and the marina to take a ferry to Bar Harbor is a very short walk down the quiet street. After visiting the much busier side of Acadia and Bar Harbor, we appreciated that this area was "alive" with visitors, but not extremely crowded. Here, we had 1:1 time with a park ranger at Acadia activities and enjoyed a peaceful hike to a small island at low tide. Thank you again Lori and Mike for your thoughtfulness throughout our first visit to Maine.

    Amy2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful week in Winter Harbor! The house was great and well stocked with everything we needed. Lori was very attentive and responsive to all our questions, even from afar. It's a beautiful area and we would love to come back!

    Jodi2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the Winter Harbor house. It was spic and span clean when we arrived. The bedrooms are charming and the view from the kitchen/living/dining room is fantastic. We had a great time making dinner in the well-appointed kitchen. We spent time in the evenings playing family board games. We explored Schoodic Point and wandered into town for breakfast at Chase's, to visit the 5 & 10 (where you can buy almost anything!), and to check out the galleries. The drive to Mt. Desert Island is a little long, but the ferry is shorter and only a short walk from the house. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this listing to others. P.S. Even our kids had a great time!

Warm and cozy vacation cottage built the winter of 2007-08. It was built with your vacation in mind, a place having some illusion of being rustic and with all the comforts and conveniences of home.
Although the exterior has weathered now (not shown), pictures of the interior don't convey the ambiance inside. You have to see it. Especially in the evenings with the light from the fireplace reflecting off the vaulted ceiling. If you want something special. You don't want to walk into a rental that looks like the house you just left. Then this may be the place for you!
In the immediate area there are shops, stores, businesses, eateries, piers and pounds to buy your lobsters. You'll be hard pressed to find lobsters cheaper anywhere else. On Grindstone Neck in Winter Harbor there is a nine hole golf course that has views of the ocean from every hole. If you really enjoy the ocean and don't mind getting wet then rent or bring a kayak and meander through the bays and coves. Ride out and see the seals basking on the rocks on the other side of Turtle Island, the osprey nesting near the Halibut Hole or the lighthouse on Mark Island. Throughout the year Schoodic Arts puts on different programs, theaters, concerts, dances and many other events in Winter Harbor. Then during the summer they host an arts festival for two weeks which usually starts around the last week in July. But still overall it's generally quiet here except for the Winter Harbor Lobster Festival and a few other things. Once a year the entire town goes on holiday. Usually the second Saturday in August. The only time of year the tourists are thicker than the lobsters. Of course there are lobster dinners, barbecues and a lot of other things. It's always a good time. It is a little over a mile from the park road where you can bike or hike the trails. The first thing you will come to are the hiking trails and biking paths starting a hundred feet down the road and if miles of trails don't interest you, next there is the Frazer Point picnic area that juts out on a finger of land overlooking the harbor. There is a long pier with a float attached that people fish for mackerel, bluefish and striper's when they run. From here you'll have spectacular views of the mountains, Mark Island Lighthouse and you can watch the harbor porpoises, seabirds, osprey and of course the lobstermen pulling in the days catch or the sail boats races from the Winter Harbor Yacht Club. The vistas are nothing less than magnificent and many have spent the entire vacations right there. I know, I spend enough time there myself. We love to picnic by the fire in the evenings. And I'm not really sure why but lobsters always seem to taste that much better there. Words can't really describe time in this place. Next, hike or drive to the top of Schoodic Head to see some breathtaking sunrises, sunsets and a commanding view of the area, ocean and islands. On a clear day you can see the Petit Manan lighthouse and preserve on the next peninsula over. From there, head out to the point relax or picnic and gaze straight out into the Atlantic. It can be really spectacular if there has been a storm at sea. People come from all around to watch the waves break over the rocks. And actually it's pretty much spectacular almost any given day. Then quicker than the season started it's all over. By Columbus Day we roll up the sidewalks and it gets downright sleepy here. Until next season that is. I could go on and on. Instead I'll just say where ever you vacation this year. Hope it's a great one. ~ Wes
  • So comfy and excellently located to nearby Scoodic Point.

Our place is close to Acadia National Park on the Schoodic Peninsula, downtown Winter Harbor with its restaurants and galleries, the ferry to Bar Harbor and the Island Explorer bus to the park and around town. B. You’ll love our home because it is very comfortable and immaculate with beautiful gardens and many quiet sitting areas for early morning coffee or your late afternoon wine. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers and a perfect spot for bird watchers.
We have a comfortable double bed. Fluffy warm LLBean blankets. And we offer breakfast. We also have a tv in the bedroom that has Net Flicks.

  • If there were a way to award SIX Stars, we would have done so. Staying with Wayne and Deborah is much more than merely finding a room for a few nights on the coast of Maine. We felt truly welcomed. Even though my wife and I are now 70 years old, we agreed, "It was like visiting Grandma's house." Deborah is a fountain of knowledge about the local history and geography, and, she cooks a fantastic breakfast.

    David2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Crow's Nest is a great place to stay in Winter Harbor. Wayne and Deborah are excellent hosts who make you feel right at home. Deborah took us on a tour of the area and made food suggestions that really added to our trip. Eating fresh boiled lobster right off the dock in Corea was one of the highlights of our trip and we wouldn't have known about it without the recommendation! The room was cozy and clean along with our private bathroom. This is the perfect location to stay at as a home base for exploring the Schoodic Peninsula in Acadia National Park. You are basically a few miles from the park. Thanks again to Wayne and Deborah!

    Lisa2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you are lucky enough to find Deborah and Wayne's place available, snap it up. Their home is comfortable, charming, and restorative. My only regret is that I was there 3-nights instead of 5. There is so so much to do and Deborah being a native of the area is a wealth of local secrets. I had booked a rock climbing trip for one day and kayaking the other. Had I known how incredible they are I would have dedicated 2 additional days to immerse in their local experience. Deborah is the kind of woman every community needs - active at the art gallery, the historic society and more. I'm so grateful for my time with her in her eclectic home. It truly was like staying with family...the chosen kind. Oh and - I've already started copying her breakfast recipes. YUM.

    Anita2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • We (couple over 70) enjoyed our stay thoroughly: Deborah and Wayne are gracious hosts, discreet yet happy to give precise information. Deborah gave us a tour of Winter Harbor with a wealth of information on its history and social development. Our room was small but airy, everything was clean, new and/or well cared for. We shall return, whenever we shall be in the area again.

    Martin2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Welcome to the home we all want to walk in to, soul deep! The three G's~ Gracious, Gourmet, and Gardens! Deborah & Wayne couldn't be more warm or over the top easy to be with! Accommodations are impeccable, refinery appointed, and perfectly comfortable. There is not an inch that isn't eye candy with an artists touch. A sunny breakfast on the porch knocked it out of the park. We had a personal tour of Winter Harbor that showed us nooks and crannies we never would have found, let alone enjoyed the history of. Don't miss this place...unless we want that returning date...because we will! Thank you from the bottom of our happy hearts! Vic & Verne

  • I was so warmly greeted by Wayne and Deborah, I was instantly welcomed and made welcome into their home. Their home is beautiful, comfortable and very clean and they welcome you into it with sincerity. They are personable people with a true interest in you as a guest. If you desire, and I would recommend, Deborah's tour of the town is a must. You will not be disappointed as a guest in this home. This area is absolutely beautiful for hiking, biking, canoeing and boating, Schoodic National Park was beautiful and unencombered by high traffic and is very handy to Acadia National Park. You can make this a wonderful vacation.

  • Had a great time in my short stay in Winter Harbor at Cheryl's place. It was very spacious and clean with all the amenities that you would need to enjoy your stay. It is about 1 hour away from Acadia driving, which is fine. If you don't want to drive, take the boat over! You can save a lot staying at this great place, then staying in the resort town of Acadia! This is a perfect location for all the things you would want to do in the nearby area. If you are on the edge because there is no AC, its not needed in Winter Harbor! There are fans in every room and many windows, plus the weather is cool!.....maybe that's why its called Winter Harbor!? The host leaves a land line phone for you because cell coverage is spotty, unless you have Verizon, how nice of her. Lastly you get a free Netflix hookup for watching movies at night after your hiking at Acadia! Thank you Cheryl for being super attentive and asking any questions I had.

  • Nicely decorated home for bigger groups. We didn't explore the neighborhood that much since we spent most of our time in Acadia National Park (1 hour drive away). It seemed suburban with not that much to do within walking distance but with beautiful views. The host leaves a lot of information about cool touristy things to do nearby and about the house. WiFi was good and they had free netflix.

  • Winter Harbor is the best base for visiting Acadia National Park, and Cheryl's condo is the perfect place to stay. The town is both quaint and quiet - a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, which is a fun ferry ride away to experience everything Mt. Desert Island has to offer. The condo is a short distance away for watching the sun rise or set at Schoodic Point, and taking advantage of the great food in the area along with the shops, galleries, post office, Farmer's Market, Lobster Coop and ferries. Cherl's condo is definitely cozy and comfy - a real home away from home with everything you need.

Located in the heart of Bar Harbor and Acadia, this cozy 1 bedroom apartment is tucked up and away from the hustle and bustle of town while still maintaining proximity to everything. This recently renovated space on the third floor of our classic 1910 Maine home is furnished with a comfortable queen bed with organic linens, an equipped kitchen with stone countertops, a living area with table/chairs and futon that pulls out into a twin bed. Walk to ocean, shops, and restaurants in minutes!
It is our hope that "Newton Nest" will be a welcoming, cozy, and clean apartment for folks needing a home-base for Acadia adventures. Stone countertops, cabinets, appliances, and flooring are some of new additions, while some of the charms of an older home remain such as the original bathroom sink. Organic linens, local art (including my own Acadia Wave Photography), high quality kitchen furnishings, simple functional decor, and a Acadia/local area resource library (including tips on our favorite hikes, swims, places to eat, etc!) are some of touches we provide which we hope will enhance your visit.
Convenient to everything, yet just enough on the fringe of town to feel away from the hustle and bustle. Walk to everything in town within minutes, including the ocean. Or from late June to mid-October you can catch a free Island Explorer bus to venture beyond town into Acadia National Park!
  • Cozy, private, and convenient for everything we needed to do on our getaway weekend. Hope we can stay here again in future!

  • Sarah's and Shawn's apartment is great! It is clean and cozy; the perfect place to come back to after a long day in Acadia. Sarah was a great host as well and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. I hope I can come back to this amazing place in the future!

    Julia2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's and Shawn's house is a lovely spot, well maintained, cozy and clean and Sarah and her family were great! If you have problems or questions they are always available and will help you right away. Very good vibe all around and when our travels bring us back to Bar Harbor again, this would be our first contact! We really enjoyed our time at their house!

  • I loved my stay at the Newton Nest. The location is perfect, close to everything in Bar Harbor. After a long day of hiking at Acadia, it was so nice to be able to walk the half block to McKay's for a good dinner. The flat itself is adorable and exactly what I wanted. I was traveling solo and couldn't have felt more safe at the Newton Nest. Sarah greeted me warmly at arrival and I immediately felt at ease. I would recommend their place to any solo traveler or couple looking for a place to stay in Bar Harbor.

    Rebecca2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah is a great host! The newton nest was immaculate. Perfect to make a little meal and relax. Very close to Acadia national park, and right in town! 10/10 would reccomend.

    Madeline2017-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great stay at Newton Nest! Very clean, comfy bed, very cozy! Perfect for two guests. Located in the most convenient area of town. Walkable to everything. We came in the off season, and Sarah was so helpful and accommodating in recommending places to eat, and giving us tips on how to get into the Park. I'm so glad I came across this airbnb, because I will definitely be coming back! Bar Harbor is amazing as it is; Newton Nest added to the experience!

    Jess2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience!

  • The Newton Nest was perfect for my weekend getaway with my girlfriend. The location is perfect and in walking distance of everything in downtown Bar Harbor. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. If I ever find myself in Bar Harbor again, I will be booking this room again.

Mandala Farm’s cottage is built as a traditional timber frame and is located on our working horse-powered organic farm in coastal Maine. Guests have walking access to Jones Pond and the ocean is only a short drive from the farm.
Mandala Farm’s cottage is built as a traditional timber frame. The cottage is an open construction with a loft. The loft overlooks the downstairs area with a railing. The upstairs is divided into two adjoining rooms separated but with no doors. The only door in the cottage is for the bathroom. The cottage has an open loft bedroom with a queen size bed, sitting room with a futon and a single bed(all in the upstairs loft), and a pull out couch in the living room(downstairs). Although the cottage can sleep 7 it is a small and cozy space with an open loft. Please refer to the photos for a glimpse of the cozy space. The bathroom has a tub and washer/dryer, there is a large sitting area with sofa bed, dining area and kitchen. Two French doors open from the sitting area onto a porch with a large deck with a grill. The porch overlooks the farm and Jones Pond. The cottage is located on our 100 acre organic farm. It is secluded from the hustle and bustle of farm life, but still overlooks the fields, pastures, gardens and beautiful Jones Pond. Part of the "value" of our space is it's location on a large working farm. Guests are welcome to explore the farm as they wish or just enjoy the view from the porch.
We are just 8 minutes from Winter Harbor and the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park. We are a 45 minute drive to Bar Harbor (sometimes up to an hour in summertime traffic) and the Mount Desert Island section of Acadia National Park. Both sections of the park offer wonderful opportunities for biking, hiking and exploring the Maine coast.
  • Sara has a really nice cottage. Before we went, we were worrying about cold night. But the heating inside was really powerful that we don't even need blanket for sleep. The view is peaceful and the farm is full of fun.

    Jason2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The farm is absolutely incredible and I can't say enough positive things about the experience. The cottage is so well designed and cozy. Being able to explore the farm was a highlight of the trip! Waking up to such a serene landscape and going to visit the animals was well worth the drive. It's the perfect location to visit Schoodic and bar harbor!

    Matt2016-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Hi. We really enjoyed our time on the farm. It was as described and very chill place to be. The farm was idyllic and full of friendly animals you can go visit. The cottage was very clean and nice. Super simple digs. Airy and bright and comfortable. Nice little porch for having a glass of wine and watching some horses meander in the distance. Sara and Genio were friendly hosts. They are around if you need them, but leave you be if you do not. Their house is a short walk away, but not in immediate sight of the cottage. Gouldsboro/Winter Harbor is a little off the beaten path and there's not a lot of options in the way of restaurants, stores etc. There are few within a 5-10 miles. We found that to be a plus, but you may want to consider stopping in Ellsworth on your way in and getting some sundries, ice etc. You can get some inexpensive eggs/meat/produce from the farm store anytime which is run on an honor system. Also if you are more than two people you should know there are no private bedrooms. Just two semi-private sleeping areas in the loft. Didn't affect us, but thought guest should be aware. In any event we recommend it and enjoyed our stay throughly.

    Bartow2015-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Sara's cottage and farm! The cottage is super cute, has plenty of room for our party of three and was very comfortable to relax and cook in. The location feels very private, but we were also encouraged to walk around the farm as much as we liked. The farm is fun to explore and watch all the different animals and plants. We heard chickens clucking all day, which was fun too. Sara and her family were very welcoming and lovely to chat with as well. This location is a drive from MDI, but easily accessible to many other beautiful locations on the Schoodic Peninsula and on Highway 1. We would gladly stay here again!

    Jennifer2015-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was wonderful. We had a great weekend. Enjoyed the surrounding area.

    Susan2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • At some point I must have become a New Yorker who would travel around seeking the new but also stay close enough home for comfort. Mandala farm is New York. It is also a farm. That aside, the chicken are really cute. They have their own mansion, and inside are individual condos. When I walk up to them they will cluck and ask: 'and what do you want' with a New York accent. They are also the most delicious chicken. There is a farm stand here. In fact, all the food can be bought without leaving the farm. Alas, there is a great seafood distributor, D.C. Air, close by on the same peninsula. So, we had to be tempted to eat lobster and mussels and quahogs. What a shame. Three other things to note: kids will have fun here; the cottage can sleep/feed a lot of people; don't come here if you are a "tourist".

    Vincent2015-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • We decided last minute to load our 2 dogs up and head North for Christmas. Sara was quick to answer that their cabin was available and no issue of the dogs. The cabin was warm even when the temps hit the single digits. The sunrise over Jones pond was a nice way to enjoy coffee in the morning. It was a perfect place to escape from the world but have a comfy place to relax. The ease of being on the farm and the space that they give you is refreshing. Even for a short stay it feels like a home away from home. There was nothing that we would change or add. It allowed us the perfect Christmas.

    Melissa2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. The farm is rustic and definitely a working farm. The pond is spectacular with a few kayaks and canoes for use. The highlight of our stay. Our young sons loved it here. House only has one interior door, which is to the bathroom, so something to think about for future guests if you've had too much together time.

This cozy year round cottage is in town Bar Harbor with dramatic views of Frenchman Bay. Devon is walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and bars. Sleeps 4 and has a garage for car and bike storage. We offer long weekends off season and whole weeks from June to October.
We have for all guests the guide book that we publish called A Walk in the Park and an island map in house for them to use.
We live directly across the street from the elementary school which has a great field, playground, and a large mostly unused parking are to skate or ride bikes on.
  • Our week in Bar Harbor was wonderful. When we arrived after dark, Nina had the lights and heat on since it was a bit cold. The garage apartment is just as pictured, easy to find and close to downtown Bar Harbor. Just a 5 minute walk to Bar Harbor and a short drive to nearby Acadia National Park. Don't miss the beautiful walks and hikes in Acadia! The guidebook Nina's husband wrote describing the hikes is a big help! The cottage is clean, roomy and comfortable with a big kitchen easy to cook in and a large master bedroom with a comfy bed. When we had a problem with the washer, Nina responded and had it solved within minutes. Great place to stay in a beautiful part of Maine! We'd definitely stay there again.

    Suzanne2016-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • The location was great...a short walk into town and to the College of the Atlantic. The street was a little busy, but it was not too loud for sleeping. The rooms were as described, but there were fewer amenities than we are used to. We had to buy bath soap, toilet paper and paper towels. There are no condiments but salt and pepper. The cottage itself is very unique with a lovely view out of the top bedrooms. We cooked in a couple of times and were able to do our laundry half way through the trip. The kitchen had sufficient cookware for our needs. Nina was responsive to all our requests and provided us with umbrellas for the one very rainy day. Would definitely recommend for families with children. Good amount of space and kid's toys etc.

    Pat2015-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nina was very responsive in getting us easily settled in to the cottage. The cottage itself was the perfect size for a couple or a family of four with an open concept and airy feel. We loved having views of Frenchman Bay from the main living area and front porch. We also appreciated the location's easy access to downtown Bar Harbor, which is only a ten minute walk away.

    Jerry2016-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful few days at the Devon Cottage. Nina was very welcoming. The location is great, right outside of Bar Harbor. The house is very spacious and clean. The kitchen is well equipped, we cooked plenty. Our car was comfortably in the garage. And the beds were clean and comfy. All in all the Devon cottage is a great place to stay on Mount Desert Island.

    Christopher2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Devon Cottage earlier this month and it was perfect for me, my husband and our one year old to stay in. When we arrived, Nina greeted us and showed us around the house, she was very nice and helpful. She also found a spare baby gate for us to use while we were there which was appreciated. The house is right on the corner of the main area of Bar Harbor so we walked every time we went into town, very convenient. The house was clean, comfortable and had everything that we needed, we felt very at home there. We were able to park our car in the garage and keep our bikes there as well. I would definitely recommend this place and we'd love to stay here again next year!

    Megan2016-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house was even more beautiful in person and Nina was a lovely host! Super friendly and accessible. The king size bed was heaven-super comfortable and the kitchen was a really good space to cook in. Would definitely return!

    Lena2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Nina gives great recommendations and it was a comfortable place to stay rain or shine.

    Rebecca2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a great stay we had. Great location-walking distance to Bar Harbor and very close to park access. Rental was very clean, nice cooking facilities, and great deck with water views. Also there was a lot of garage space, which was nice with bikes. Would absolutely go back.

A sweet cottage right in the middle of Darthia Farm, raising organic mixed vegetables, sheep, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and working with Haflinger horses. The property is minutes from the Schoodic Section of Acadia and has its own salt water beach.
There are two bedrooms upstairs and a kitchen and living room downstairs. The beds upstairs have new memory foam mattresses. We just bought a new futon for the living room which could accommodate two more people but it might be a bit crowded. Heat is from a cozy wood stove, heated with wood we cut here and haul with our horses. An in-house composting toilet and outside solar shower are primitive but convenient and there is also an outhouse a few steps away. We'll show you how everything works. We do have an apprentice bathroom with a shower that is available in bad weather a few steps away. The kitchen is well equipped with refrigerator, gas stove, dishes, and cooking pots. We stock the shelves with staple items like sugar, spices, condiments. We have outdoor furniture, a picnic table, and a gas grill.
Gouldsboro is made up of several small picturesque fishing villages. The farm is an icon in the community and has a busy farm store. Nearby are beautiful harbors, a vibrant arts organization, a busy pub with entertainment many nights, Schoodic Point which is part of Acadia National Park, many talented craftsmen and craftswomen as well as shops where you can purchase handmade pottery, jewelry, bells, yarn. The main branch of Acadia National Park is about an hour away and there may be heavy traffic, but the Schoodic section, which is wild and majestic and beautiful is only minutes away. We are very welcoming to LGBTQ guests and have a minimum knowledge of ASL.
  • Great little farm-amazing views of the bay just 1,000 ft away.

    Mark2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Prior to our arrival Cynthia was always available and responsive. Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcomed. Everything was explained clearly in our cottage walk-thru and everyone on site was both helpful and courteous. The outdoor shower was a pleasant surprise/positive experience for all in the family. We would certainly recommend and look forward to returning. If you're looking for a peaceful experience, this is highly recommended.

    Maria2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Three of my friends and I stayed at Darthia farm as a home base between hikes in Acadia during out post-graduation trip. We absolutely loved every minute of it! We immediately felt welcomed by everyone on the farm and looked forward to returning each day after taking on the park trails an hour away. Between getting to know the animals, exploring the area outside of the farm, grabbing fresh seafood, enjoying early morning sunrises, and cycling through board games in the cottage, there was never a lack of activities to keep us busy and excited for the days to come. Cynthia and Bill — and Steve, whose family also lives on the farm— showed us around and introduced us to the animals. Between the horses, sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, and the friendly farm pup, there is a lot of work on the farm, but it is all done extremely sustainably. Darthia Farm is certainly the greenest place I've stayed for a trip. The cottage was a very comfortable space. Plenty of space for the four of us. Everything we needed for cooking was supplied and we even made use of some of the fresh produce growing on the farm. Overall, staying at Darthia farm was an amazing experience, and I know that each of us hope to return.

    Zachary2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a quiet place to stay in Maine, Cynthia and Bill's farm is perfect! The cottage was lovely, exactly as described. The farm is picturesque with a trail through the woods to a quiet rocky beach. A little bit of a drive to the well known area of Acadia, but we didn't mind that. My only regret was not staying longer since we would have loved to spend more time on the farm.

    Erin2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Things happen for a reason, and finding Darthia Farm is no exception. To adequately write about our experience the way I'd like to would take a long time, but I'll do my best to articulate! We were looking nice for a true Maine experience, far enough away from the bustle of Bar Harbor, yet close enough to plug in, should we have that desire. It was a perfect middle ground for us. When we arrived to the farm it was already on the late side, and we were ready to crash. Everything at the cabin was neat and inviting, complete with eggs and sun flowers in the kitchen window. You can tell they take great pride in his farm, and from what we've read, everyone is well aware of how special Darthia Farm is! We met our hosts Cynthis and Bill the next morning and felt an immediate connection. They are simply wonderful people. We fell in love with the animals, Star the horse, Abraham the pig, and Kelpie the dog. There is a small path that leads to a private stretch of beach, complete with rowboat. Honestly, this was something from a story book! We actually brought our small grill down to the waters edge, along with a guitar, and had perhaps one of the most memorable nights ever. They made several suggestions for enjoying Maine, off the beaten path, such as Little Moose Island in Winter Harbor, which was one of the most incredible nature walks I've ever experienced. Honestly, I could go on and on, but I'll stop! We will, without any doubt, return to Darthia Farm, with kids in tow, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for peace as well as their own unique Maine experience. Thank you Cybthia, Bill, and the other sweet folks we fell in love with on our stay. See you soon!

    Eric & Linda2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia and Bill were fabulous hosts! We had a wonderful time and really appreciate how welcoming and helpful they were- from great recommendations of where to eat to loaning us a lobster pot to cook dinner our last night. The cottage was well stocked and had everything you could need and more (spices, coffee, sugar, etc.) We truly enjoyed making breakfast with farm fresh eggs in the morning and having delicious organic produce and other yummy products available a stone's throw away. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer! Highly recommend their place as a great retreat from the hustle and bustle. Thank you, Cynthia and Bill!

    Valeria2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia and Bill were beyond amazing hosts. They warmly welcomed us at the farm house. They thoroughly explained to us where everything was as we were new to organic farm living. It’s hard to put into words how invigorating it was was to be there for two days. The farm is tranquil and it made us relax and enjoy our vacation. My son loved visiting the animals every day so much so that on the last we spent the whole morning and part of the afternoon just hanging around the farm. He did not want to leave. We also had amazing conversations with Bill and Cynthia. To top it all of we had an enjoyable horse wagon ride with Bill. It’s an experience we will never forget. We learned a lot about conscientious living. Nothing is wasted in that farm and that is something we always aspire to do. We came to visit Acadia which was breathtaking and on top of that experienced organic farming living with wonderful hosts. Thanks Cynthia and Bill for an unforgettable experience. We will come back next year

    Meda2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Darthia Farm is one of the most enchanting places I've ever seen. Cynthia and Bill were lovely hosts and made us feel at home right away. The cottage is beautiful in its simplicity and had everything thing we needed to make our meals, and we slept so well. Our kids were unplugged the whole time (yay!!), running around the farm and exploring the shore with Kelpie, the farm dog. Cynthia asked what they might do to improve, being first year Airbnb'ers, but I'm at a loss to come up with any ideas. You can't improve on heaven.

  • Great, characterful house. Very comfortable and well equipped. Kitchen particularly so. Appreciated the maps and guides left out. Winter harbor and schnoodic peninsula were good walks, the anvil walk was high climbing and interesting. I preferred this to Acadia desert island. If you like local beers the pickled wrinkle was fun!

  • The house was amazing. It was exactly as described, well located and very clean. Check-in was easy and the instructions clear. The house it-self was very nice and the yard secluded. It was quiet and we were able to have wonderful time on the deck. Our dog was with us and it was perfect for her as she was able to go in the yard and we were not worried about cars. Downtown Winter harbor is a walking distance and Schoodic Peninsula a short drive away. Lawrence was very responsive and helpful. He answered every questions we had and gave us tips about the area. Any questions was answered in less than 24h! I highly recommend this place and we would absolutely stay again.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Winter Harbor, ME & were especially pleased with our accommodations. The home was exactly as described! The home had everything one could want, was super cozy, and was perfect for a family. Lawrence was extremely responsive, helpful, & very easy to work with. The neighborhood that the home is located in was very peaceful & quiet; my family loved waking up to see deer & a wild turkey in the yard. There is no doubt that we will be heading back to this area (Winter Harbor/Bar Harbor) again in the future and we will definitely be reaching out to Lawrence again with hopes of being able to rent his lovely home again!

    Keelee 2015-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely time in the Winter Harbor area. The house was perfectly situated and Lawrence was super quick (within minutes) in responding to a question about getting everything working in the house upon our arrival. We loved being able to stay so close to the Schoodic peninsula as well as Acadia's main island without having to stay so close to the tourist areas. The home was so comfortable and welcoming. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. Thanks so much!

  • Everything about this place and Lawrence as a host was spectacular. The house was in great condition when we arrived, and Lawrence made sure we understood where everything was, how it all worked, and that we knew all the great things in the area. The house was very private and much roomier than expected. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great, relaxing trip.

    James2014-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This house was a fantastic way to experience the downeast area of Maine. Winter Harbor provided some much needed quite compared to the crowds over in Bar Harbor. The house is wonderful and had all the amenities needed for a nice relaxing stay. Lawrence was very easy to work with and made sure that everything was taken care of before our arrival. In short, we could not have asked for a better place to spend out honeymoon. We loved out stay and would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking to get away from it all.

  • We loved staying here! The house was very clean, had so much space and was the perfect weekend getaway spot! It was about an hour from Bar Harbor, but very close to the Schoodic Peninsula part of Acadia. We loved being able to cook at the house as well! We loved being in nature and having plenty of space for the whole family. We would absolutely stay here again!!

Visiting Acadia National Park is a must-do, as it not only features amazing hikes, camping, and bird watching, but it is also one of the first places in the country to see the sunrise each day. For a moderate hike, try the Ship Harbor Trail, which leads from beautiful evergreen forests to a rocky ocean shoreline. For quality time on the water and an unforgettable fishing experience, make a reservation for an Acadia Deep Sea Fishing Tour. The tour is great for the whole family and offers a chance to catch cod, sculpin, red fish, or even a mako shark! Few states can rival the excellent hunting in Maine with it’s abundance of wild game. You’ll have the opportunity to pursue black bear, whitetails, moose or grouse. There are plenty of lakes and marshes for hunting waterfowl and the coastline is home to world-class duck hunts.

The garden contains a grill that you can use, as well as outdoor seating, adding to the many ways you can enjoy the house and make yourself comfortable while you are here. We hope to have the opportunity to host you!
  • My family and I had a great time at Richard and Elsie's place! It is in a great location; a few blocks away from downtown, so that you are close enough to things to do, but not too close that you are right by everyone. The house is in beautiful condition, with very nice bedrooms and bathrooms. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in Bar Harbor!

  • Great location! We walked to restaurants and shopping every day. It was a quick drive to Acadia National Park. The home has beautiful gardens, comfortable beds, very clean and lots of parking. I would recommend this home to anyone going to Bar Harbor!

  • Great place to stay. Plenty of room, great parking, quiet, clean, within walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor. Just as shown in pictures. Would definitely recommend.

  • Eden Garden is the perfect place to stay. Walking distance to downtown restaurants and the shore path, and very close to Acadia. Richard and Elsie were wonderful hosts, and very quick to respond to questions. My family loved it here!

    Regina2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Richard and Elise's rental was clean, spacious, and cozy as promised. Communication was extremely swift and the hosts were super flexible and accommodating especially given our last minute request to book. The location is about as central as you can get. We'd definitely recommend this Airbnb!

  • Richard and Elsie were very welcoming. They provided a house guide before our arrival and it had all the information and recommendation we needed for this trip. They were also quick to respond to my questions during my stay. The location of the house could not be any more convenient - only 5-10 minutes walk away from the supermarket, restaurants and 15 minute drive to the National Park. Overall a great experience! Highly recommended!

  • Great location and value compared to other choices in Bar Harbor. Work defined item stay there again.

    Bill2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was everything that we were hoping for. Elsie was extremely friendly, reaching out periodically to ensure that everything was going smoothly. The house was in a great location, a short walk from everything downtown and only a short drive to Acadia. It was very spacious for our group with a great outdoor garden area to enjoy as well. The kitchen was well stocked, enabling us to cook several meals there. Everything was clean and it really made our stay enjoyable!

Welcome. This is a cozy cabin-inspired apartment in the heart of Bar Harbor. Literally just a stone's throw from downtown, but on a quiet side street that goes to the water. You get a sunny (usually) porch that faces the street, a living room/kitchen (no cooktop or oven) with a sleeper sofa, and a master bedroom with a queen bed and a beautiful bathroom. Check out my other place to get a feel for the standards... Downtown Bar Harbor Studio.
Access to your new home is through the front red door.
Albert Meadow is a quaint street with quiet neighbors. Grab breakfast only a few minutes away at my favorite joint, or make yourself some coffee and walk a minute down the street to catch the sunrise over Frenchman Bay.
  • Don't miss a chance to stay at the Badger Cottage. So wonderful inside with every creature comfort and Bohemian sheek style! I wished we had stayed longer and I will go back. Every detail well appointed from wonderful coffee to luxurious towels. Clean bright and comfortable. Quiet in town convenience.

  • Michael has a lovely little safe haven in the middle of Bar Harbour. It is the best location and a really charming little apartment. It is best enjoyed as a single or pair but there is a sofa bed should you need space for an extra two people. It is stylishly decorated and really cost. Highly recommended :)

    Ele2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place is very homey and in such a great location. It made it very easy to explore bar harbor since almost everything was within walking distance. The place is well stocked and the refrigerator has a filter so no need to spend bundles on bottled water!

    Jordan2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This little gem is the place to stay in Bar Harbor. Michael has thought of every little thing that you will need and his attention to detail makes this place worth every penny. It is decorated beautifully. We loved coming back after a long day at Acadia. It is on a quiet street, but literally in the middle of all the Bar Harbor activity. The harbor foot path is on his street which we enjoyed, as well. That was probably one of our favorite parts since we enjoy the water, but like to get away from all the tourists. If you stay at the The Badger's Cottage you will not be disappointed!

    Katy2017-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Mike was a wonderful host and is an expert craftsman. He's made a beautiful place to stay and it was very comfortable to come back to after long hikes in Acadia.

  • Don’t miss this place. Thoughtful apartment in the best location in Bar Harbor. Mike’s tips were excellent.

    Joel2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Badger Cottage is unique in every way. Mike has accomplished perfection in its renovation. Clean, cozy and inviting. Just step out the door and the fun in just around the corner. Food, shopping and a walk along the shore. We enjoyed getting to know Mike, he is an excellent host.

    Shari2017-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is an awesome charming little place, very clean and tidy and lovely decor! Michael is super accommodating and helpful. If I am ever back in the area, I would love to stay here again. ❤️

  • Carol and Jim's place was perfect. The location was ideal offering a very short walk to the shops, restaurants, and coast in Bar Harbor. Very easy drive to all that Acadia offers and to Thurston's Lobster Pound in Bernard. The unit itself was extremely clean and had everything you could possibly need. Really one of the best Airbnb's I've stayed in. Well done Carol and Jim, and thank you again!

    Dan2017-06-09T00:00:00Z

  • Outstanding Host. Clean and neat accommodations with convenient location to shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor.

    Phillip2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Jim & Carol's during a trip to Bar Harbor for a family wedding and thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Huckleberry Suite! There were 4 of us (two couples) and the sleeping arrangements with the separate bedroom and the addition of a comfortable futon worked out well for us. The cute balcony was a nice addition and we enjoyed many mornings and evenings there. The space is roomy enough to spread out, the beds provided a good night's sleep and the location was just perfect. We were able to walk everywhere and it helped that Jim & Carol provide plenty of local tips that helped us make the most of our time in Bar Harbor. This place is right in the action! We wish we had more time here and definitely recommend Jim & Carol's place to anyone looking for a cozy home base while exploring the area. Acadia National Park is amazing and so are these hosts and we can't wait to come back to visit!

Sunny, spacious bedroom in rambling old house. Central location, comfortable beds, good wi-fi, very clean. Quiet residential neighborhood only a 5-minute walk from Main Street shops and restaurants, and a 5-minute bike ride to Acadia National Park. We are still renovating - see the description for more info.
We bought this building a little over a year ago, and have had a blast renovating it. We've updated the bedrooms and living/dining room, which are bright, airy, and very comfortable, but we are still working on the other rooms, and on landscaping and painting the exterior. You can follow the renovation progress on Instagram at JennSBooher. Your bedroom is on the second floor, freshly painted and comfortably furnished with a king bed, memory foam mattress, and cozy goosedown comforter. There is a deadbolt on the bedroom door for your privacy and security. The shared bathroom is on the same floor. The apartment has a full kitchen. It has not been renovated, so the appliances and cabinetry are old, but the space is well-equipped: it includes a dishwasher, coffee-maker, microwave, Kitchenaid mixer, toaster oven, pots, pans, and baking sheets. There are board games, puzzles, playing cards, and books, as well as an excellent wi-fi connection [50Mbps down and 5Mbps up]. The bathroom has not been renovated either, but has a tub and shower. There are a washer and dryer in the hall. We are currently stripping wallpaper in one of the bedrooms, and may be painting other rooms in the apartment during your stay. We may have an electrician or plumber working as well. The exterior is being painted now (November). Check with me before booking if you have concerns about construction during your stay.
If you head right on Ledgelawn when you leave the house, it's a 10 minute walk to the Park Loop Road (the main road in Acadia National Park). Head left and it's an even shorter walk to restaurants, stores, and bike rentals. Main Street is about 4 minutes away.
  • This home was in a central location and was just what we needed. It was close to the restaurants and shops of Bar Harbor as well as the beautiful trails of Acadia National Park. Both our private room and the shared spaces were clean and spacious. Jenn was a great host because she gave us local tips and recommendations and also gave us privacy and space. Definitely recommend for a nice getaway.

    Brigid2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer met us in person, to deliver the key to our room, and gave us good tips on which trails we could easily walk. She had several helpful books available for planning as well, and magazines that highlighted the area.

  • Jennifer was great to stay with. We had a variable schedule for checking in because of a delayed flight, and she worked with us. The room was clean, and the kitchen well furnished. Being walking distance to the village center made it so easy to grab a bite to eat and explore Bar Harbor while still having easy access to the natural wonders of Acadia!

    Tom2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute house just as pictured. Very cute neighborhood with similar houses. This location once was a bed & breakfast like some of it's neighbors. I stayed here with my best friend after seeing Acadia National Park. We were two girls and felt completely safe. Location is within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. The rooms available for rent at Mr.Tim's house are all upstairs if I remember correctly. We stayed in the Cottage Room with a super comfy king sized bed, plenty of pillows (puffy and squishy :) The kitchen is off-limits, but coffee is available in the morning. Due to sleeping in and catching flights, we did not take advantage of caffeinating ourselves..but I'm sure that it was good. Mr. Tim has also has a beautiful & well-behaved, clean standard poodle mix named Echo. We totally love dogs, but even if you aren't a dog person, unless you saw Echo, you would never hear or smell her or find a single hair shed. Mr. Tim is a quick responder and very patient even if you do not know the details of you trip, such as what time you will be checking in. He and his wife also give great restaurant recommendations. Would definitely stay again. I am not from the region, so I may totally be out of place saying this..the Only negative thing I could possibly say about our stay was that we felt the price per night was a bit steep at $145 per night (including stay, cleaning fee, ...etc.) on a Thursday night.

    Jennifer2017-06-02T00:00:00Z

Post and Beam loft guest room above our very unused workshop. Very quiet location in residential neighborhood. Can walk/drive into Acadia National Park with access to hiking trails and the park loop road. The YMCA and town ballfields are just around the corner. Convenient walk to downtown, where you can access the free Island-wide bus system. Leave your car parked.
We rent this space by the week - Saturday to Saturday. It is very convenient to hiking trails in Acadia National Park and a quick walk to the downtown village with all the shops and restaurants. No need to use your car while visiting. There is a free Island-wide bus service. There is a sitting/BBQ area just outside your entrance.
This is a very quiet residential neighborhood. Not suitable for late night partiers.
  • We decided at the very last minute to get away, and was happy to find a place that was available. We were also a little nervous being that it was the only place still available and the word 'barn' being in the description. I'm not one to write reviews, but I know how helpful they can be, so I thought I'd do a little pro/con list, since what I care about, you may not =) Pro: The loft (which is a better description of the space since there is no livestock involved) was every private, clean, spacious, the bed was very comfortable. Con: You were in the hosts back yard, so the only views out the windows were of the back of their house, scrap pieces of wood, weeds. (but I believe they were about to give the property a makeover) and the backs of the other neighbors houses Pro: Location, it was a short walk to the restaurants and shops of Bar Harbor, as well as a golf course and some trail heads into Acadia National Park Con: If you are not a walker/hiker, you may feel it is a little far from town, or if you're there for the park, it's a bit of a walk as well Pro: Large window/skylight over the bed let in a lot of natural light Con: The lack of a curtain was a guaranteed early wake up call Pro: Kitchenette included a Coffee pot! There was also plenty of pots/pans, utensils, dishes so that you could eat in if you wanted to. Con: If you really like to cook, (which I do not) you may find that a 2 burner cooktop and a toaster oven not enough to get the job done. Pro: Fenced in patio with a high wooden fence had plastic lawn chairs and a Weber grill Con: (This is all me, I really wanted to go camping) No outdoor table to eat off of or firepit/chiminea to sit by at night ... also, on occasion, we did get the feeling that we were hanging out in someone else's back yard Pro: Plenty of hot water, great shower pressure, and soft fluffy towels Con: Little louvered door to the bathroom didn't offer much in the way of "bathroom time" privacy Pro: Wifi but No TV reception Con: Wifi but no TV reception We also brought our bikes, and there was a space at the foot of the stairs that was big enough to store them in. We would have no problems staying here again, Kathleen was nice enough to give me coffee when we arrived, and let us pick blueberries from their bushes. Even though they live on the property, I think we may have only seen them a handful of times. We had a wonderful time (maybe a little too much fun Friday night, which made it even harder for us to leave)

  • Katleen & Rob were very nice host and their place was the best hub for our needs. We highly recommend this peacefull accomodation and we hope to go back again. Linda & Georges

  • Great place within walking distance of many restaurants and tourist sites.

  • Lovely, quiet residential neighborhood within walking distance to the heart of Bar Harbor. We had a wonderful week and felt immediately at home. We hope to return again!

  • This is a comfortable, cozy, and artistic full apartment - a comfortable bed, a little living room, a small but full kitchen, bathroom, and also an outside sitting area. It's the perfect walking distance from town, but away from all the fray. The hosts welcomed me when I arrived and were kind and considerate in getting me settled. It was perfect and I would definitely come back. It's private and quiet, but close to the host's house so I felt very safe.

  • Loved the location (on a nice quiet street but a close walk to Bar Harbor shops) and the quaint loft space. Just what we needed for a week away! Kate and Rob were great hosts and we felt very welcome.

  • Homey and warm place, well-equipped, open, and with a COMFORTABLE BED ! Location could not be better - walking distance to town, which allows you to avoid the hassles of driving and parking there. Best launching point for visiting Acadia National Park.

  • Kathleen and Rob's Bar Harbor Hideaway was an absolute delight. Located at the back of their house, the place is quiet and feels very private. We felt very much away from it all, like it was our own secret little wooden cabin, despite the fact that Bar Harbor and all it has to offer is actually mere minutes walk away. You have everything you need, the restaurants, a supermarket and lovely walks, all on your doorstep. The free island bus (that takes you to all the walks and nature spots) is also a short walk away. The perfect combination of everything! The cabin itself is very welcoming and comfortable and has clearly been designed and decorated with style, care and thought for their guests. We had everything we needed for relaxing evenings after long days out exploring the gorgeous island. There is reliable wifi, netflix, tv, books, games, a music system and most enjoyably, a proper coffee maker :) The kitchenette has everything you need to make decent home cooked food and the bathroom is a modern delight with a good, strong and hot shower. Lastly, Kathleen and Rob are the prefect hosts. Friendly and engaging, we felt extremely welcome on their property. They were welcoming and generous and we enjoyed a wonderful evening on their porch with them, though never felt pressured to socialise either. We loved the island and now consider this ideal apartment our Maine home away from home. We have every intention of going back and highly recommend their place to anyone visiting the area. Thanks Rob and Kathleen!!

The Captain David House is a beautifully restored, air conditioned, 3 bedroom, 2 bath house located on a highly desirable, quiet side street just a short walk to everything in Bar Harbor. Located one block from main street and the Village Green, you can leave your car in the driveway and explore on foot.
We are located on a beautiful, quiet side street, just a short walk to the Bar Harbor town green, Main Street  with all its' shops and restaurants, the harbor itself, the YMCA, library, both movie theaters and more. Park your car and walk to everything, including the Island Explorer bus stop which will take you everywhere you want to go, free of charge. Our house was completely renovated in 2016 with both your comfort and safety in mind. Located in the heart of Bar Harbor, it is the perfect place from which to explore all of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. Comfort: One important element to an enjoyable vacation, is a good night’s sleep. We provide comfortable mattresses and luxurious sheets. Two of our bedrooms have queen sized beds and our children’s bedroom sleeps two in a bunk bed.  There is a sleep sofa in the livingroom for added sleeping space. The house is airconditioned to provide comfort on those rare hot summer days when the ocean breeze is just not enough.  Our brand new kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare meals at home, re-heat leftovers from your night out or even host a lobster bake. We have tried to think of everything you will need and even provide, sugar, flour, salt, pepper and olive oil.   We provide all linens, towels, beach towels, paper products, trash bags, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, cleaning supplies and blowdryers. My favorite part of the house is the front porch. From here you can, sit back, put your feet up, enjoy a cool drink and inhall the fresh ocean air that blows thru town. Safety: We have installed hard wired smoke and CO2 detectors in each bedroom and throughout the house. We also provide a fire extinguisher on each floor. The Capt. David House is located within half a mile of the Fire and Police Stations and less than a mile from the Mount Desert Island Hospital. We also do our best to ensure the safety of small children by keeping our cleaning products out of reach and providing a baby gate.
Our house is located in the heart of Bar Harbor. We are a three minute walk to the Village Green, where you can enjoy Bandstand music on a warm summer night, ice cream from Mount Desert Ice Cream, or just sit in the sun and people watch. From there you can stroll to the many downtown shops and the beautiful harbor to view the many fishing boats and cruise ships. Acadia is the oldest American National Park east of the Mississippi River.  The Park covers nearly 47,000 acres on the Atlantic Coast of Maine. The greater part of the park is located on Mount Desert Island, but it also encompasses smaller islands like Baker Island, Sheep Porcupine and Little Moore. The town of Bar Harbor is the center for most activities.   Hiking, swimming, kayaking, boating, whale watching, shopping, biking, exploring, beach combing, eating, dancing and more.  You will never run out of things to do on beautiful Mount Desert Island.
  • Terrific home that's a 2-minute walk from downtown. It's a great place for a family with young kids -- Nancy's included everything you might need (including sand pails for the beach, a booster seat, and a gate). The house is very clean and well-organized. We highly recommend Nancy's house to anyone looking for a great place to stay in BH.

  • Just go. Great location that is literally a 3 min walk to everything downtown. Pictures are 100% accurate. You can tell that a lot of work was put in to make this the house that it is. Nancy is also fantastic with communication.

  • Our family of five adults had a great time at Nancy's house! The location is wonderful, just a short walk to town. We cooked a lot and found most everything we needed in her well-appointed kitchen. We enjoyed meals and card games every night around the large kitchen table. Since we also hiked a lot, use of Nancy's washer and dryer were much appreciated! There are two bedrooms with queen size beds. The third bedroom is very small and contains bunk beds. However our son, who is 5'11" tall said he was very comfortable. The time we spent there just flew by. We would not hesitate to stay at Nancy's house again.

  • This is a lovely house that is quite nicely decorated and spacious. The location is fantastic as it is a short walk to the Main Street but is still in a quiet area. Having the off street parking is nice. Overall a great house and experience.

  • This was my family's 7th time in Bar Harbor but our first time at the Captain David House. The house was impeccable. Very clean and beautifully decorated. Nancy was responsive and easy to work with. The kitchen has anything you could need and she even provided beach towels and sand buckets. She allowed us to store our bicycles in her basement. The location is fantastic. Right in the heart of Bar Harbor. My 20 year old daughter felt safe running in the neighbor hood and we could easily walk to shopping, restaurants and the movies. The Island Explorer bus was 3-4 blocks from the house so you could potentially park your car and leave it for the week. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends!

  • First time Airbnb user, incredible experience and will definitely come back!

    Qiurun2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • This house is perfect and Nancy is a model host. The kitchen is a bit bigger than it seems in the photos. The house is quiet even though only a 5 minute walk from downtown Bar Harbor. One of the best Airbnb I've ever stayed in. Highly highly recommend.

    Elan2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A true gem nestled right in a quiet section of Bar Harbor. The house is even cuter in person than pictured! Old house that was expertly redone and has all the modern amenities needed for a vacation-beach towels and soaps, shampoos, conditioners even provided! The neighbors we met were very friendly and it was within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. We loved all the "beachy" touches. Nancy was so helpful upon our arrival and throughout our stay. Our children are 9 and 10. We also had Grandma with us and the space worked very well for us. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed Jim and Michelle's house. The place was immaculate and it was very evident that Jim and Michelle went out of their way to make their guests stay as worry free as possible.
