Lighthouse
“Light up your day at Hook Lighthouse, 800 years of light keeping. One of the Oldest Lighthouses in the World, a favourite with Lonely Planet and Tripadvisor. Marking the entrance to Waterford Harbour at the mouth of the Three Sisters river system for over 800 years. The Visitor centre which is open year round at Hook Lighthouse and offers guided tours of the Medieval lighthouse tower, built by William Marshal, the Earl of Pembroke and the most famous Knight of his time, as part of the development of his Lordship of Leinster. Purpose built as a lighthouse 800 years ago, and still fully operational today, Hook Lighthouse truly is one of a kind!”

Opera House
“Visit the Opera House not only for its Opera Festival during the month of October, but for entertainment all year round. Even a visit to our friend, Tricia's Starview Cafe on the third floor to take in the view and her fabulous food is an absolute must. Reasonably priced and excellently prepared by her own hand right after you've ordered. (Her cakes, baked on the day and not before, are sheer delight!) Tell her Maggs and Karl said Hi.”

Bar
“This is a fabulous pub. It is the home, and indeed birthplace of the Yellowbelly brand of craft beers and ales that have taken Wexford by storm. Beautiful, quiet surroundings and the staff are friendly and professional. They serve excellent food during the day so, being in the middle of Main Street, it's an ideal halfway point for lunch.”

Wine Shop
“The Michelin recommended Greenacre's restaurant is one of the most popular in the South East. It is located on the ground floor, surrounded by shelves of the world’s finest wines. The ambiance is friendly and relaxed - very popular with venue during Wexford Opera. The food is prepared under the watchful eye of local Chef Ritchie Trappe and as Wexford is both an agricultural and maritime hinterland, their supplies are sourced locally. There is an award winning wine list which has is the most extensive in the Country and offers both value, and outstanding quality. Greenacre's also has a spacious art gallery with contemporary Irish art and sculpture. It is part of The Greenacres Bistro and has regular exhibitions throughout the year. It is spread over 2 floors upstairs - a nice place to peruse on a wet day or just for a coffee. Excellent local cheese sold in the deli.”

“The Duck Gorey is part of Marlfield House Hotel. The restaurant serves coffee and pasties, lunch and dinner. The food is terrific and the setting is fantastic overlooking their kitchen garden, or if the weather is nice seated on the terrace.”

“There's a lovely newish bistro at Marlfield called THE DUCK. It has a great menu with a beautiful garden, terrace and restaurant in a converted coach house. If you're willing to splash out, go here. If you're clever with the menu and happy to have soup or just a coffee and scone, it's affordable. Service can be slow.”

Farm
“This is a great little day out for children ( best suited for 2-10 years) there are plenty of little ride on tractors, cars and bikes for the little ones to ride on and abandon before picking up another. There are farm animals to meet and touch, go karts, a maze and a nice cafe among other things. It's not huge or full of high tech but my grandchildren love it.”

We recommend booking a table for groups if it is a weekend, but you can eat at the bar with our a reservation. Just let us know if you want us to call them for you to book in advance.”
