Just booked in Westminster

The Retreat House is deep in the country on a working farm, yet only 60 miles from major metropolitan areas, and only 30 minutes from Gettysburg. It has a peaceful, calm, restorative setting surrounded by countryside. It is especially good for those wanting a quiet retreat.
  • There is no value that can be placed upon quiet and relaxation. Laying on the floor in the meditation area reading a book from the downstairs library shelves, wandering down to the lake in the morning and later over to the farm where sally took time to introduce my son and I to her incredible animals and the healing work she is doing with her biodynamic practices on her land. It is a special place made more special by Sally's love for it. The home is well equipped for a good deal of visitors- the house boasting two kitchens and several bedrooms and sleeping nooks. Would be a fabulous place to spend a week editing papers or on retreat with girlfriends. No wifi, no tv and you won't miss it for a minute.

  • This was a great peaceful place in the country Very private and relaxing I loved the homemade bread and fresh eggs There is no tv but the 4G on my phone and tablet worked fine Sally was a gracious host and left all kinds of literature for things to do around the area it's only 12 miles from Gettysburg Thanks again Sally

  • This is a wonderful place to stay. The house was very warm and welcoming and equipped with everything you would need. And outside is really beautiful. Wished I could have stayed more than one night.

  • Lovely getaway for family and friends and good distance for exploring Gettysburg. Quiet getaway from the city. Rustic experience insofaras no dishwasher, microwave, TV or wifi.

  • The perfect house for a quiet, relaxing stay in the countryside. Sally is a treasure, and so is this Airbnb. We were very satisfied!

    Nora2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sally is an amazing host. The White Rose Farm is a working 132 acre biodynamic farm in rural Maryland. The house is very spacious, easily accommodating seven of us. Plenty of space, two kitchens, a comfortable sun porch, and a meditation room. Sally set us up with fresh baked bread and her homemade preserves. We also received a tour of the farm. Sally provided us with a great understanding of how a biodynamic farm works. When I come back to Western Maryland I would stay with Sally again.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at this quiet retreat. We stayed here for a wedding in Taneytown, MD, and it was the perfect location- 10 minutes from the wedding. We loved the farm like setting and cabin feel. We enjoyed going to sleep with the windows open, which brought back nostalgic memories of staying on my great uncles farm as a child. Sally also provided fresh baked bread, homemade jam, and fresh eggs which we really appreciated and enjoyed.

    Jennifer2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at this country house. We were in the area to visit Gettysburg and see family, but the house turned out to be the best part of the trip. So beautiful and peaceful. Things you won't find at this home - wifi, air conditioning, a sterile environment. My favorite things at this house - a deep quiet, birdsong coming in all windows all day, beautiful vistas from every window, frogsong at night, front porch to eat breakfast when cool, side porch for supper when the day heats up. Working washer and dryer, which we appreciated as we had been traveling for a week when we arrived here. If we lived in DC or Baltimore we would visit here often. A great place to de-stress and think about things.

My place is close to restaurants and dining, nightlife, family-friendly activities, and great views. You’ll love my place because of the location (center of main street, next to railroad and Johansan's pub and 10 min walk to Mcdaniel Univ. up main). My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. NEW HOT Trendy restaurant: 3 min ONE BLOCK walk to ROCK SALT GRILLE. Also, bike rental across the street or BRING your own bike, as we have a bike rack in front of my building
Private room, 3rd-floor views, wifi (hi speed), fridge, microwave, Roku Smart TV, Germ Guardian HEPA air filter, closet space, computer desk. I use the salon for my private living space when I have guests. We share the bathroom only. Since there are a fridge and a microwave in the private room, and I use the salon space for me, No KITCHEN acces, but most guests use the microwave and the fridge anyhow.
ONE block from new ROCK SALT GRILLE, and across the street from public library, and Johansan's pub , and the railroad tracks. Plenty of parking behind my flat (free after 5pm, metered before) and there are many bars, cafes, restaurants, etc within walking distance. My place is on top of Westminster tea cup coffee shop.
  • My boyfriend and I stayed with John during the Maryland wine festival. The apartment is in a great location in town close to many restaurants. The place was comfortable, clean, quiet and definitely showed great character! The bed was very comfortable! Overall it was a fantastic stay!

    Katya2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in Downtown Westminster and a quiet place to stay. The bed is extremely comfortable and very soft.

    Anthony2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • What is online is exactly what was offered, so I appreciated that. The bed was comfy the free wifi and netflix nice to have. The price was good and location was excellent. I was doing a thing at McDaniel College and it was a 10-15 min walk up there. It was public parking, but it was bountiful and I took my car with me during the day so it wasn't an issue. (but you won't have a problem with parking anyway).

    Katy2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • I especially liked the location and cleanliness of Jon Shawn's place, and his flexibility and communication. We communicated via text messages, the airbnb website, and in person, and I was pleased at each turn. Folks with mobility limitations should especially note that the room is several flights of stairs above ground-level, and no elevator is available. The stairwells are wide, well-lit, and nicely-decorated, though. :-)

    Christian2017-05-21T00:00:00Z

  • Jon's place is conveniently located in downtown Westminster, right above a nice little cafe (which is exactly what I needed after a night of driving). Jon communicated quickly and openly, which made this trip a breeze!

This cozy home located in downtown Westminster is just steps away from McDaniel College. The back opens up to a large park with a playground and soccer fields. The 1,900 Ft2 home has 3 BR, LR, DR, and a kitchen. Built in 1910 so it has character!
My wife and I use the home every other weekend when I have my three children. Guests are welcome to use the amenities but we ask that you respect the personal belongings in the house. There is NO cable or internet available at the house. I do have a HD Antennae that can be used for limited TV channels.
  • Edwin communicated very quickly with us. Easy check in. Interesting set up for the house. Lovely back yard area. The house is not suitable for people with mobility issues. If you don't have mobility issues the house was great for our family of six. No bedrooms on the ground floor. One full bathroom on ground floor and one upstairs. We didn't use the kitchen for cooking but everything was there if you needed it. Easy parking on the street. Window unit AC cooled house very quickly. Close to everything.

  • A couple of friends and I stayed in the home for a weekend while attending a wedding. The house was spacious even with 7 of us staying there, we all had a nice comfy bed to sleep in. The decor was very nice, and the house was stocked with all necessities which made you feel right at home. The house is in a nice area on a main ave and being in close proximity to a bunch of stores/restaurants was really convenient. Everyone really enjoyed the stay. Highly recommended!

    Brandon2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very lovely and in a great neighbor. I brought my family that stayed for 1 night. The rooms are quiet and big, and the entertainment room is very cozy too. There's also a big back yard good for chilling or parties. It's about 1 hour drive to DC and 3mins to the shopping areas. Definitely a perfect place to stay!

  • We had a lovely stay in Edwin's home. From the beginning, Edwin was very accommodating of our last minute booking and made us feel so welcome. Loved the historic feel of the home and the warm decor. Edwin, thanks for making us feel so comfortable and we're glad to have found your place for future visits!

    Deborah2016-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Edwin was a great host very easy to get along with and very helpful with the blizzard conditions. if ever in town again I would like to stay at this home

    tony2016-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Edwin is great to work with. Responsive and helpful. Great for kids. Playground across the street. Fenced backyard. House is on a busy street. House is quirky, but well furnished and kitchen has nice pots, pans and utensils.

    Sarah2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This house is, literally, steps away from McDaniel College. So if you have a relative attending, this would be a great spot for a visit. It is also blocks from Main Street with shops and restaurants to choose from. The kitchen has everything you might need (we cooked an entire Thanksgiving meal) and the space is great for family. As a bonus, we got to see the Westminster Holiday Parade from the front porch! Highly recommend this house!

    Brian2016-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Edwin's place was perfect for our stay. We walked into downtown Westminster for great food. A quick drive into Baltimore for a day of sight-seeing. The place was very comfortable and Edwin was very helpful. Already looking forward to heading back next year!

Amazing brand new one bedroom apartment with separate entrance and all the amenities. Apartment has own patio for your enjoyment and is located beside the Carroll county hospital, AG Center and Farm Museum. Only 5 minutes from downtown Westminster.
Cozy and inviting- great space for short or long stay.
Great walking paths, running trails and a pond to fish.
  • Just as described and better. A new construction apartment on the ground level with the host family living on the first floor. Comfortable bed and pillows. Kitchen basically stocked. The host is very responsive and made us feel welcome, although, because it was a quick in and out trip for a family get together, we never met her. High marks all around. We'd stay at her place again.

    Ted2016-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Mimi is an outstanding host. She quickly introduces you to your apartment, makes sure you can contact anyone in her family if you need anything, then provides every possible thing you need for a homelike stay. You would never have to ask her for anything beyond what she so generously and conveniently made available prior to your arrival. Spotlessly clean and all brand new! Unbelievably well stocked Airbnb apartment.

    David2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Mimi made us feel very welcomed. She was responsive with every text even before we arrived. The space was nice, private and clean. Everything we needed was provided and more! My husband loved the chocolate bar, fruit and the eggs in the fridge. I loved that the coffee bar was stocked with ground coffee, creamer and sugar. The space seemed to be recently renovated and all the touches of home were included. It was great for our three night stay. When we return to the area we would love to stay there again. Also recommend Baugher's Restaurant if you want a local flavor or pie.

    Rebecca2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn't have asked for a more accommodating host. Mimi was great and I was more than pleased with my stay. She responded to every text and inquiry in a timely manner and answered all of my questions. I truly enjoyed all of the amenities of the kitchen and appreciated all the little things Mimi added to make our stay special. The apartment was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the neighborhood was quiet and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this listed to any friend and wouldn't hesitate booking this listing again!

    Nia2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Mimi's place is very cozy and warm and it's in a very peaceful and quite area. Mimi is an amazing person and very friendly as I knew she would be having an Aunt who I called Mimi myself. Upon arriving she was there to greet us and then gave us suggestions of places to eat. Overall this is probably one of the best finds on Airbnb so far, my girlfriend and myself look forward to coming back in the future as it was very relaxing even just for a night to get away from work and all. I highly recommend this place to anyone, you'll really feel like you're at home here.

    David2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Mimi was a great host. Apartment is very large and clean. Great location in a quiet neighborhood, yet close enough to town. Would definitely stay again.

    Bob2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The location for a wedding in Westminster was perfect. There was a duck pond, running trails and playground so close that our family had a wonderful stay. Not to mention a clean, new space that was decorated enough to feel inviting but not so much as to get the feeling you were in someone else home. We really nested during our week there.

    Molly2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time using Air BnB and it couldn't have been better! Mimi's place was beautifully decorated, immaculate, and provided essentials like soap and shampoo as well as little treats like chocolates and fruit. Mimi also checked in via text to be sure I had everything I need. I would return in a heartbeat!

This 1809 Pennsylvania German farmhouse is listed on the National Historic Trust. It is conveniently located to Baltimore, Washington DC, Gettysburg and less than three miles from McDaniel College and Westminster.
Get away from the bustling crowd! Stroll down a country lane, have a picnic, enjoy a bucolic pastoral scene, collect eggs for your breakfast, you can even help with the chores! Gettysburg, Baltimore and Washington D.C. aren't far, or we're happy to help you plan a small town adventure in nearby Westminster or other historic towns of Carroll County.
  • Rebecca went above and beyond to make my stay at her bed and breakfast special. She prepared a delicious breakfast each morning and had beautiful, fresh cut flowers from her garden throughout the house. On our last day, Rebecca helped to conclude a very special weekend for my teenage daughter that she will never forget.

    Travis2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed ourselves at the Farmhouse. Felt like coming home walking in the door. The hosts were fantastic, breakfast was superb and overall a great experience! We hope to visit again soon!

    Adam2015-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful two story farmhouse, sheep in the green meadow -- just the sight of it made me feel happy after an exhausting drive. Nick carried my bag upstairs to a beautiful room with a four poster bed and offered a drink and gave me lots of suggestions for dinner. Rebecca was out when I arrived but when I returned after dinner she greeted me with fruit, cheese, and wine -- this couple was welcoming, easy to talk to, fascinating (he's a vet, she studied law) it was like hanging out with old friends. There was a little, pink ribboned box of chocolates in my bedroom, a beautiful bathroom with a variety of soap.s In the morning, Rebecca made breakfast using eggs from their own chickens and home-made biscuits. She insisted on leading the way to my appointment, about seven miles away so I would not get lost. These hosts and this home are the reason that AirBnB will upend the hotel business. These hosts provided the tasteful extras you find in a fine hotel, the warmth of old friends and the delight of meeting people who could be new friends.

    Joyce2015-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Becky is an amazing host, and is so welcoming. The house is beautiful and is so close to Westminster, though it is so set back from the road that you feel like you are out in the country. The rooms are beautifully furnished with antiques, and the breakfast was wonderful. Becky and Nick make you feel like part of the family. I can't imagine a better Airbnb experience!

    Meredith2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Nick and Becky were extremely gracious hosts and have a wonderful farm! You will reap the benefits of that with an amazing breakfast! Becky is very well organized and runs the show very professionally. She does have family stay in the rooms, so she humbly says this isn't an actual B&B but she undersells herself, her home, and her efforts. This is as true a true B&B as you will find. She has sodas, bottled water, and a stocked ice bucket in the foyer for when you get the urge. No TV in the bedroom, but there is one available in a common guest living room. They have a freindly dog, so be ready for a greeting at the door! Lol. If you shy away from dogs, be sure to let her know and I'm sure she will accommodate. Enjoy a quiet rural setting just outside Westminster next time you are in the area, or make a special trip to get away with your partner!

    Christopher2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful experience; our hosts were very welcoming, accommodations were comfortable & breakfast was fabulous. Recommend highly.

    Elizabeth2016-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely amazing stay-they made us feel right at home. There is nothing I would change. From the beautiful landscape to delicious country breakfast- I would highly recommend to anyone coming to the Westminster area

    Krissy2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • My trip to 57 Rockland was the best B and B visit I have experienced. The farm house is situated well off the road on rolling western Maryland farmland, and is on the National Registry. The property is extremely well-maintained and is a working farm. The hosts have filled the house with the antiques characteristic of the area, and the numerous oriental rugs covering the hardwood floors complete the authentic feel of the property. The bedrooms are a nice size and my bed was extremely comfortable. Guests are encouraged to use a large living room and dining room. On arrival soft drinks and wine are available. Once settled the guests are encouraged to enjoy the house and property. The best features of the visit flow from warm hospitality of the charming hostess. Rebecca clearly cares for the comfort of her guests and makes every effort to ensure that they are made to feel welcome. Breakfast was a wonderful way to start each day. The ingredients were produced on the farm and expertly prepared. Since it was strawberry season each breakfast started with a generous helping of fresh berries. Scrambled eggs were accompanied by thick tasty bacon and homemade sausage. The first day homemade biscuits and honey were a feature, while on the second day large well-prepared pancakes and maple syrup completed the meal. Freshly squeezed orange juice and excellent coffee were available. I returned one night about 11 o'clock to find Rebecca preparing strawberry pies. My timing was excellent and I was offered a piece of warm pie topped with ice cream. The next day on my departure she packed another piece of pie as well as presenting a jar of preserves made on the property. For 48 hours I felt that I was comfortably situated in a second home. If I am very lucky perhaps I'll get to visit again someday.

  • Cheryl's place is truly fantastic!!! She had thought of everything, and had everything we needed plus more! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Home away from home near McDaniel College, if visiting the nearby scuba quarry, or for exploring the local area! Five stars!!!

  • A beautiful large basement space with a lovely view of the sunrise over morning coffee. After we made the effort to get our coffee ready and bundle up for a sunrise on the porch, which was wonderful, we realized we could have watched it from the very comfy bed. :) Cheryl is a wonderful host leaving small goodies to make our stay most delightful. It's easy to check in with personalized code to enter the premises walking down a set of stone steps through a lovely gate. We felt very safe and cozy. There was plenty of space to relax in the living room and on the porch. Truly a great space. We wish we could have stayed longer.

    H.L.2017-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a blissfully relaxing weekend at Cheryl's gem of an apartment. We were welcomed to this spacious apartment by an extremely well-stocked fridge (juice, milk, eggs, zucchini bread, fruit, condiments and frozen ice cream cones!) and had fun cooking in the fully-equipped kitchen. The queen bed was super comfy and facing east for a gentle morning wake-up call. This is an excellent place to stay while visiting Gettysburg (about 20 miles away) or simply for a relaxing weekend away from it all.

    Michelle2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful place, lots of space and very peaceful. Cheryl was a perfect host. The kitchen was stocked with everything I needed for breakfast. She really thought of everything in preparing for guests and making them comfortable.

  • Besides being a very spacious apartment with luxury, charm, and privacy, as it is accurately listed; Cheryl's mother-in-law suite is truly one of the very best AirBnB accommodations we have ever stayed in! Directions were clearly given, and after a day touring Gettysburg, this apartment was perfect for my husband and myself. In addition to a comfortable bed, spacious family room, and very nice bathroom, this apartment had extra amenities of a fully stocked kitchen (dishes and food!). We highly recommend Cheryl's fabulous apartment!

A spacious loft style apartment with a large open living room, dining area & kitchen on the first level. Wood burning stove in LR, with wood provided by the hosts. Radiant heat on first floor and 2 ceiling fans. Modern kitchen with stainless stove, fridge, and dishwasher -- but no garbage disposal, as we're on a septic system. Just south of Reisterstown are Owings Mills, Pikesville, and Towson, large metropolitan suburbs of Baltimore. All have a large variety of restaurants and shopping. Owings Mills has a subway station (only 15 min away) that travels into downtown Baltimore. We are only about 20-25 min from Pimlico racetrack in NW Baltimore. We are just 35 miles south of Gettysburg and many Pennsylvania attractions, including historic sites, orchards, parks, antiques, flea markets, and local ice cream. We will provide guests with an extensive list of local resources and favorite food stops.
  • Ron and Jill's place is amazing. They are pouring love and care into their property and it makes for a very cozy place to stay. The place is so quiet and so tranquil with amazing sunset views. The kitchen has everything you could need. A perfect place for a writing getaway. I will definitely be coming back!

  • Special place and piece of history. I'd go back! Fun and memorable for sure.

  • Great apartment, really is an old barn. Secluded and private build a fire for a romantic quiet evening or Baltimore and the Inner Harbor are 20 minutes away.

    Robert2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ron and Jill were excellent hosts. Their barn-apartment is absolutely unique and so cozy. There are personal touches throughout. The grounds are romantic and the views from every angle are gorgeous. It's a very cozy space to call home for a few nights. We had two couples and a baby and we were very comfortable for two nights. Ron and Jill were kind, extremely responsive, and gave some great suggestions for things to do in the area, but they let us enjoy the space without interruption or intrusion - the best kind of hosts! We would be very happy to go back.

    Mandy2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Do not let the distance from Baltimore fool you. It takes 30 - 45 minutes just to park a car and check into a hotel in Downtown Baltimore. A little extra time brings you to a beautiful and serene place that is spacious! I am hoping that Ron and Jill's Barn will be available during my future business trips to Baltimore!

    Timothy2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • It's a fantastic spot for people who are looking for a quiet, cosy spot to escape from hectic days. The barn cats were friendly and the apartment was clean and comfortable. It was great having my own kitchen and plenty of space to relax. I didn't have any trouble finding the farm.

  • Our hosts Mike and Margo made our arrival go smoothly even though we had to check-in after 9pm as we we're flying into MD for a special family event. Their place is a real gem! It was perfect for our group which included my 15 year old daughter, my 12 year old niece, and my brother/sister-in-law. The girls fell in love with their spacious double beds on the upper bunks! The bed frames were solid, nothing like your typical bunk beds. I slept well with my niece in the bunk above me. The entire place is simultaneously ready for relaxation and recreation. The girls played basketball outside while we chilled out in camping chairs our hosts provided and took in the picturesque scenery. At night, we were treated to everything needed for a deluxe s'mores by a cozy campfire under a brilliantly lit starry sky. Being a city dweller, I really appreciated that! We all took turns playing at their pool table and dart board. There were also lots of board games on hand for some family fun. We all enjoyed the popcorn machine which my niece said tasted like movie popcorn as she filled the individual bags for us all. There was a full size fridge stocked with water bottles, sparking water, and Gatorade as well as a variety of yogurts to snack on in the morning before our hearty homemade breakfast arrived. The food was delicious and plentiful. There's also a microwave and convection oven available which we used to reheat pizza leftovers that we had delivered earlier that day. Although the bathroom was sort of small, our hosts provided all the amenities you could need, including a hair dryer and toiletries. The towels were soft and all of the bathroom fixtures were top notch, especially the sink and shower. I highly recommend this listing to other Airbnb guests! Overall wonderful experience!!

  • Mike and Margo are the most welcoming, sociable hosts. From first booking, they kept in contact and worked with our hectic scheduling. We were meeting up with friends so there were 3 married couples in this Rustic Paradise and it was WONDERFUL. The space was open and clean so we were able to spend time together and have fun. The location isn't far from cute little towns with anything you could need but just far enough to get a beautiful view and not be crowded with people. Margo provided a DELICIOUS breakfast and really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We're already planning our next trip out to UB Rustic Paradise!

    Elle2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We totally enjoyed our stay. Mike and Margo are excellent hosts and ther place is fabulous. They were so easy to coordinate with as well as being just down right hospitable. Thank you sooo much and if you choose to stay with them you won't be dissapointed.

  • This rental is special. The location is gorgeous; very quiet with a stunning view, but close enough to several towns to get things if you need Jen. The rental itself is squeaky clean, tastefully decorated, and well set up, with very comfortable beds, lots of space, and loads of entertainment options. Our group of 5, with 4 adults and a toddler had a fabulous time. Mike and Margo were gracious hosts, very good communicator, and excellent cooks! We would stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

  • Absolute wonderful stay! Mike and Margo are great hosts and we loved our time there. Breakfast was delicious, amazing view, incredibly comfortable beds, ... They thought of everything! We will definitely be back. We would give this getaway 10 stars if we could!

  • Mike and Margo provide a beautiful, peaceful get-away and delicious breakfasts. The sleeping spaces were ideal for our family of six, and we made good use of the games, basketball hoop, popcorn machine ... just about everything! It was just what our family needed. Mike and Margo are very friendly, gave us all the privacy that we needed, but were quick to respond with several requests and questions that we had. Good people, nice place. Highly recommend.

  • Micaela was a great and reliable host. Her house was clean and in an amazing area surrounded by the forest. A good location in between Washington DC and the inner harbor of Baltimore and close to all major stores such as Walmart. She provided more than enough linens and toiletries for our stay and was even nice enough to let us take some basil from her fresh herb garden. Overall it was a pleasant stay and I would recommend Micaela's house for anyone interested in coming to the Baltimore area.

Finksburg is a quiet, farming style community. We are on about an acre and a quarter of land. The neighbors are quiet. We are located between Westminster and Eldersburg (15-20 minutes to either). Only a short commute of 30 minutes to Baltimore and approximately an hour north of Washington D.C. My family of 6 and medium sized dog, live on the main and upstairs levels. Our children range in ages from 4-11.
The sound of country is what you hear while staying with us. Birds chirping in the morning and the sight of fireflies in the evening.
  • The cozy apot is just as described..... Very, very cozy. Jeremiah and his wife made us feel welcomed and were very hospitable. Although there place is awesome and just exactly what we wanted, it is their care, hospitality and kindness that puts them over the top. We cant thank them enough.

  • "The Cozy spot" is just that! Jeremiah and family provided a very welcoming and comfortable place for me and my two children to stay. Highly recommend

    Nathan2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cozy place was exactly as advertised; a nice, clean comfortable little abode in a super safe, scenic neighborhood where my friend and I felt totally at peace to kick back and enjoy our weekend. It's a rather spacious basement suite with comfortable seats and beds, more than enough room for three people to co-exist peacefully for a weekend getaway. If you feel a little unsure about sharing space with a family with young children: don't. The children we met were all well behaved and overall, the house and even the super friendly dog were relatively quiet. The hosts were welcoming and responsive and graciously provided us with the odds and ends we asked for while totally respecting our privacy. Overall, we really enjoyed our city-getaway at the Cozy place and we would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable weekend out of town.

    Xanira2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best places we have stayed at! Jeremiah's home is very cozy and we felt right at home. The area was very quiet, but peaceful and is a great getaway that's not too far from Baltimore if you're visiting Maryland. We requested to have the air mattress set up and was surprised at how comfy it was. Jeremiah's family made sure the home was stocked with some comfy throws and blankets and the kitchen had the essentials you would need. We were also pleased with the overall cleanliness of the place and Jeremiah was very responsive and informative if you needed anything or had any questions. We would look forward to staying here again in the future.

Yitz is very accommodating and responsive.

  • What a great place for our family of 20. We enjoyed all that the property had to offer: hike to a river, large lawns to play games, and a cosy fireplace to end the day. And, we had it all to ourselves. With 9 grandchildren (from 8 months to 12 years old) we didn’t have to worry about how much noise we were making. Everyone would love to come back.

We are less than an hour and a half away from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Gettysburg, PA, Frederick, MD, Pennsylvania Amish country, local vineyards or breweries!
I tell my family and friends that although our house is not at the end of the world, you can see it from our deck. : ) We don't have noise, light or air pollution and enjoy the stars, fireflies, purple martins, and hummingbirds. • We arrived in BWI from CA on a red-eye at about 8AM on a Saturday for a wedding later that day. Quite exhausted, we asked Karla if we could check in early. She was extremely accommodating and let us check-in that morning. Their house is located in a very beautiful area and the room was quite spacious with a very comfortable bed. We couldn't have asked for more.

  • This is where you go when you need a total break. Unfortunately, I stayed for business and was not able to enjoy the beautiful deck and its expansive view. Nor was I able to spend time with Karla's sweet dogs or enjoy a walk through her beautiful garden. . However, I was able to enjoy the lovely, newly renovated, private upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Outfitted with wonderful linens and a designer quilt made by Karla, the bedroom, with all of its amenities, was just perfect. Same goes for the modern, roomy bathroom with a large shower. I hope to visit again with more time to enjoy this spectacular home.

  • Karla and her husband were very welcoming of my girlfriend and I. They showed us around their home and ended up going out of town the night we stayed. Their home was in a quiet area and perfect distance for what we were in town for. The home had a beautiful interior however the outdoor shower was our favorite part! We will definitely stay again when in the area!

  • Sally was a wonderful host. Very flexible in arriving time, and very welcoming upon arrival. Showed us around on the property of her farm, what a good job she's doing there. She gave us some of her freshly grown tomatoes and peaches, so good! The house is lovely and authentic, very private and quit. You can hear all the crickets and see fireflies at night. Wonderful sound to wake up to! Great breakfast with eggs, bread and jam from her own kitchen, such a treat. Would definitely recommend Sally as host!

    Lize2015-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The site was lovely, just on the border of Maryland and Pennsylvania in quiet countryside. It was easy to find and Sally was a very welcoming hostess. The space that is yours is very generous; one whole bedroom with double bed; a spare bedroom with a desk and armchair and single bed; a dining room; a meditation open area; a screened porch with chairs, tables, and loveseat; a kitchen; a shared laundry area on an outer porch; and an outdoor roofed patio. The property is large and open to you, with a sizable pond, paths, a hammock, and more. I travel as an anxious, solo, middle aged woman, but I felt very comfortable and safe. Sally's working farm is open to you to come buy fresh produce and/or flowers. Sally told me I was her first long-staying guest and I wish I would want to go back because indeed the place was so inviting and homey. However, after about a week of stay I realized that I was being bitten by bedbugs, which shouldn't have surprised me so much because on my arrival I had noticed weird blood stains on the bedsheets. As they seemed like old stains on cleaned sheets and were on the side of the bed I didn't plan to sleep on, I ignored them, to my own eventual detriment. Since I had never encountered bedbugs, it took a few days before I started to react to the bites and then a few more before I realized what was causing the bites. The stained sheets and the big bag of diatomaceous earth that was stored in a kitchen cabinet should have been tip-offs, but again, I'd never encountered the problem before. Other problems: the gentleman downstairs is quiet, respectful of your privacy, and no trouble at all except that he uses marijuana. I don't have a personal problem with his use of the substance, hey, I drink the occasional beer. But my drinking beer doesn't impact his living space, while his smoking marijuana does impact the upstairs since the only dividers are a cloth curtain and a slatted wooden screen. There are no smoke detectors. The fridge in the kitchen is a tiny dorm fridge with poor temperature control, not suitable for use if you're staying more than a day or two. There are no keys to lock the doors unless you explicitly ask for them; Sally said if it was really important to me, she would try to find them, but I didn't bother as I hadn't brought anything valuable and I could lock the doors from the inside when I was home at night if I chose (I didn't bother).

    Elise2015-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived late and Sally came right over. We felt at home in her lovely surroundings. Was refreshing to be awakened by the wonderful, warm sun in the morning. Beautiful misty dew shimmering on the world.

    Ann2015-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • stay here if you want a lovely experience. Sally is most gracious and giving of herself and her white rose biodynamic farm. you'll be staying in a separate house on her 132 acre property (built by her father for him and her mother to retire to) which she has turned into a retreat facility with a downstairs home for her farm-hands. you'll have your own room which also has a small dining table. we had the whole upstairs to myself and the stairs downstairs was blocked off. there was a full kitchen at my disposal, and we cooked breakfast from the farm fresh eggs, homemade bread, and enjoyed the home made jam as well. the living room was set up for meditation or for a group sharing, and there was an additional bedroom devoted to bodywork with a massage table in the center of it. and a loca farm cat was seen sleeping in a pot on the table outside. highlight of Sunday morning was Sally's tour of the farm. walking to the old farmhouse was quick, and she proceeded to describe and show the various offerings and animals. the farm is biodynamic and she offers community and destination travel opportunities for groups and families to experience what a farm can be. the 2 week old calf and the new black pigs rooting and tilling the soil were dear. the chickens were busy making eggs and the ducks following each other around. a beautiful place made all the more lovely by Sally's sunny disposition. if you appreciate honesty and clean living, you'll appreciate staying here.

    Cort2015-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were made to feel very welcome by Sally who was there to greet us even though we were arriving late. A real sense of privacy and connectedness to the farm here. Peaceful and the house is spacious with yummy homemade/grown treats in the fridge. Really enjoyed our stay there

  • This is my second time staying in Sally's beautiful home. She's so welcoming and friendly, always ready to sit down and have a chat with us when we stay with her. She even makes homemade bread for her guests, and brings fresh fruit from her garden! She keeps a clean and lovely house. I'm definitely going to stay here again!

A cozy and comfortable guest room with private bathroom (tub/shower). My place is perfect for a couple or single traveler, in the area for a short stay. It is quite and extremely safe.
Located in rural Carroll County MD, this location gives guests access to Baltimore and nearby PA cities such as Hanover and Gettysburg. My house is in a neighborhood and it's very quiet.
  • Very clean and well equipped house, the room itself was very cozy. Kristin was super friendly and welcoming and provided coffee for us in the morning. Overall, a great stay!

A king size bed awaits to give you a restful night in this spacious room overlooking the Big Pipe Creek. It shares a bath with another room. The 2 rooms can be rented as a suite. See listing for Solace B&B - Room #3 - Marilyn.
There is a roomy front porch to view the sunset or just savor the night air and sounds of the crickets in the country. A screened porch overlooking the Big Pipe Creek is available to enjoy. And there is always some "entertainment watching six lively goats!
Solace is located on a 50 acre farm. The house is located away from the road so it is very quiet.
  • The Solace B&B far exceeded our expectations. It's situated in the middle of beautiful farmland and is quiet and comfortable. We stayed in the summer house, which is a little pricier than the rooms in the main house, but worth it. It's very private, comfortable, cosy and clean. Breakfast was lovely, with fresh fruit and yogurt, french toast, eggs, and sausage. We really enjoyed talking to our hosts and felt very welcome.

Your night's rest will be complete with the two double beds in this room. A collection of original water colors by Marilyn Manlove are displayed. The two rooms, Grace and Marilyn share a large 'Jack and Jill' bathroom.
Solace is located on a 50 acre farm. The house is located away from the road so it is very quiet.
  • The Solace B&B was a great place to stay! I was visiting McDaniel College with a friend and we had a great nights sleep with a wonderful breakfast! Best french toast I've ever had! The host was lovely to talk to and very accommodating.

  • 6 adults decided to stay with Sally and Jack at Solace so we could all be together over the weekend, instead of separate hotel rooms. Located a few miles off the Baltimore Pike it was actually a much easier commute to Gettysburg than anticipated. Approx. 35 minute drive. The Solace is beautiful and comfortable, with four large bedrooms with baths, and a bright sunroom off the kitchen. Sally served two great breakfasts and the hospitality and cleanliness was first rate. We enjoyed our mornings with Willie the dog and all the friendly goats and Eve the cow.
