Vacation Rentals in Westgate-on-Sea

Just booked in Westgate-on-Sea

Home to an architect and an artist, our spacious apartment is located in Love Lane in the heart of Margate’s Old Town in a historic, flint-walled “Dutch house”, with cafes, restaurants and vintage shops on the doorstep; just two minutes’ walk to the sea and in close proximity to all the cultural and outdoors activities of the town.
Beautiful, calm and luminous apartment in a unique early 18th Century house in the historic centre of Margate, one block distance from the beach and Turner Contemporary gallery. BEDROOMS With two good sized bedrooms available the apartment can accommodate up to 4 people depending on need (see “Guest access” for clarity). The first larger bedroom comes with a queen-sized walnut surround bed, and our second medium-sized bedroom comes with a double bed. Both beds have very comfortable mattresses and we provide freshly-prepared white Egyptian cotton bedding and towels for all our visitors. There is a nice view of the Old Town Hall & Museum and the Market Place from both bedrooms. The apartment also has a sitting/dining room with a sofa, a kitchen and a bathroom: each space has windows and plants making it very light and airy. LIBRARY The home library has a wide-ranging collection of books of literature, non-fiction, art, design, architecture and culture. We don’t have a TV, but we hope you will find some pleasure and inspiration in looking through our library. DINING The dining table seats four, and can be extended to six. KITCHEN / BREAKFAST / EATING OUT In the kitchen you will find a basic assortment of products and usual facilities for cooking, including an oven, so no need to bring anything unless you plan on doing something complex. We will provide fresh, organic and locally sourced products for a delicious breakfast too. Coffee and tea is provided, and 3 different coffee makers. There are also several great cafes and restaurants within meters of the apartment if you prefer not to cook. In the house manual you will find a constantly updated list of those we love, but we are always happy to provide further recommendations if you have more specific tastes/dietary requirements. PLANTS We love plants and we have plenty in each room including the bathroom. We invest a lot in keeping them in good condition because they bring an incredible good feeling inside our home. We will also leave you fresh flowers in each room. BATHROOM The bathroom has a bath with shower attachment. Please note we do not have a shower, so come prepared to enjoy the luxury of bathing. INTERNET Free, unlimited wireless internet is provided. We’ve ‘boosted’ the signal strength, so you can expect to enjoy excellent wifi coverage throughout the apartment. WE HAVE Radio/Alarm, Sound system. WE DON'T HAVE TV or TV License, Baby Cot, Hair dryer, Shower.
OLD TOWN The home of JMW Turner during his trips to Margate has a good selection of cafes, restaurants, pubs, galleries and boutique shops. The Old Town is particularly well known for its large number of antique and up-cycled furniture shops, as well as artist-run shops and spaces which are all right on your doorstep. The majority of these shops are also open on a Sunday, so if you visit on the weekend there will be plenty to see and do for the duration of your stay. There is also a large Morrison's supermarket three minutes’ walk from the apartment for life's less pleasurable necessities. Being in the very centre of town does mean you can hear life outside, but given the location and design of the apartment outside noise is never intrusive and all the neighbouring bars and restaurants close before midnight. BEACHES Margate Sands, previously best known for Mods and Rockers clashes in the 60s is only a two minutes’ walk from the apartment. Today, the beach is a beautiful expanse of sand, stretching from the historic Royal Sea Bathing Hospital all the way up to the Turner Contemporary Gallery. From Margate Sands, walk east along the coast for two kilometres of solitary beaches and the Grade II Listed Walpole Bay Tidal Pool, where you will find the locals and a community of pride swimmers all year around. Past the Walpole Bay Hotel famous for its cream teas and you arrive at the beautiful and quiet Botany Bay. TURNER CONTEMPORARY The apartment is only two minutes’ walk from the Turner Contemporary gallery. Designed by Sir David Chipperfield, the gallery boasts an excellent exhibitions and public programme with late night events, workshops and live performances. The gallery cafe/restaurant is not to be missed with an excellent day and evening menu full of local produce and a great wine list to boot.
  • We had a wonderful stay in Margate thank you. Sam's flat is arty, comfortable and spotlessly clean with everything you need. It's light in the daytime and cosy at night due to some clever lighting. And the old town location is brilliant. Margate is a great spot for a weekend of browsing vintage shops, galleries and nice food. Sam was really helpful and friendly. Thanks Sam!

  • We had a great time in Sam's place. His apartment is very stylish, warm, clean and his book collection is fabulous. He kindly left stuff in the fridge for breakfast which was a nice touch. Thanks Sam.

  • Great weekend in Margate in the perfect Margate flat. Superbly located, stylish and comfortable throughout, will be recommending to everyone I know. Thanks Sam.

    Stuart2013-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • A good central location for a weekend break. Lots of character instilled in the decoration and books.

  • Carlos was really easy to deal with. A really comfortable place to stay by the sea. So close to everything. The place was well equipped to cook and serve meals and had a real sense of artistic taste too. Ideal for families or friends. Hope to return to Margate and stay there again. *****

  • This is a lovely apartment in the Old Town which made for a relaxing and enjoyable stay for myself and my boyfriend. We loved the plants, books, and arty elements which made the place feel very homely. The breakfast items kindly left for us were a really nice touch to find on our arrival - thank you again. As per the information provided on airbnb, we knew to expect no shower, and it was actually a good excuse to enjoy some relaxing baths for a change and unwind during our time in Margate. Obviously if you're keen to get going early in the mornings perhaps I wouldn't recommend. We enjoyed a wonderful Caribbean meal at Mullins Brasserie conveniently located just below the apartment - highly recommended. The apartment is very well located for exploring the whole of Margate easily on foot...the old town antique shops, the Turner gallery, the beach etc, and super handy to have the Morrisons just a few minutes walk away! However, unfortunately during our stay we bought food in for dinner one evening, only to find that the oven wouldn't turn on at all which was a shame and a bit frustrating. The electrics in the house also tripped the moment we turned the hob on for breakfast. The only other negative was the loud noise we experienced on the Saturday night. We had anticipated (from the info provided) that we could expect some limited noise from the restaurant below for "light sleepers" on the Saturday night until closing, but in fact it was loud base music from a nearby pub until gone 1am that prevented us from sleeping even with ear plugs used. Not ideal for a restful weekend away, but of course we understand that this is something outside of Carlos' control. We only wish we'd realised this before booking what was perhaps too much of a central location in the town, but nevertheless we very much enjoyed our stay overall.

  • A lovely stay in the old town although for the price a proper shower would be nice

    Dominic2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Carlos was the perfect host - so accommodating and relaxed but had gone that extra mile to make our stay special, leaving a birthday card and candles and obviously all the delicious items for breakfast. The list of recommendations for local attractions were spot on and his flat is in the perfect location, with a beautiful interior and all of the amenities you need. Already talking about our next visit! Just worried it will be fully booked!!

The apartment is on the ground floor of a lovely Victorian house. It is a large, bright flat with lots of original features although the kitchen and bathroom have been totally refurbished to 21st century standards! It also has a pretty courtyard. During the months of 1st November to March 31st, the prices are heavily discounted. Please contact me to negotiate these special rates.
The rooms are large and airy. The kitchen and bathroom have been totally refurbished. And the whole flat has just been redecorated. The living room has comfy couches and a widescreen TV and WiFi. There are wide twin beds and a couch in the bedroom.
The great attraction is that everything is within a very short walking distance. Mainline station, buses, shops, cinema, beach, beach cafes, restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, hairdressers, bakery, Doctor's surgery. There are several antique and vintage shops on the main street. London is 1hr 15mins from Margate station every 30 mins. Or from Westgate less frequently. All the seaside towns on the coast of Thanet are easily accessible by bus or train.
  • This is a wonderful flat. Great facilities. 2 minutes to the beach. 2 minutes to the town. Cannot recommend enough.

    Vincent 2017-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a spacious, beautifully appointed appartment with everything required for a comfortable stay. There is a small courtyard where we sat in the sunshine. It is situated in a very quiet residential road, only 2/3 minutes walk from a huge sandy beach! Westgate is small and uncommercialised, ideal for those who don't want to stay in a large, busy seaside resort. Wendy and Jim were lovely people, who did everything possible to make our holiday most enjoyable _ Jim even left a cake and card for my birthday! We most certainly will return.

    Frances2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • it was all so easy, and the flat is as detailed, has all you need, and is very comfortable.

    caroline2016-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is in great situation for all of Thanet, and offers the best of easy access everywhere and peace and quiet. It suits me perfectly and I keep coming back!!

    caroline2017-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Dandelion is a really comfortable, spacious and well equipped flat in an excellent position - a couple of minutes' walk from a sandy beach with beautiful sunsets and a lovely beach cafe. Wendy provided a warm welcome for us, meeting us when we arrived and showing us how everything worked. Communications before our arrival were very smooth, and we appreciated the extra touches of tea, coffee, biscuits and milk etc ready for us. There is lots to do within easy reach (we brought bikes and enjoyed the beautiful coastal trail, as well as visiting Margate, Broadstairs and Deal) or alternatively you can enjoy a really relaxing stay in this delightful small town.

    Lis2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, peaceful flat within easy reach of the beaches, shops and the action in nearby Margate. We were comfortable there with uninterupted sleep and breakfast in the sunshine to ease us into the day. I guess the best we can say is if we were asked would we come back.....the answer would be "YES".

    Nick2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Although Airbnb had not informed Wendy about my booking for some reason, she was quick and efficient once I had messaged her. We were met at the property as we arrived, given all the details we needed and left to enjoy our stay. Extremely friendly and helpful.

    Jay2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place. First the flat is spacious and very comfortable, especially the beds. The only noise we heard came from the seagulls in the morning. Westgate is equally charming. Loved the taj mahal just down the road and the Carlton Cinema was an unexpected joy. First run movies at - wait for it - 2.50. We strongly recommend a drink and a meal at the Minnis Bay. In all, my son and i had a delightful time here. We would return in a heartbeat

    Westgate-on-Sea, England, United Kingdom

Our little flat is just two miles along the prom from hip and happening Margate. Wonderful views across the large communal garden to sandy, family-friendly St Mildred's Bay. Sleepy Westgate-on-Sea has small shops, cafes and an independent cinema.
Our flat is furnished with our own stuff - it's a home from home that we like to share, not a purely commercial venture. To clarify the bed situation, there are two divans in the bedroom. These can be made up as a huge double or two singles - whatever is best for you. In the living room, we have a flop-out sofa bed from John Lewis, which sleeps two. It folds up into an ottoman during the day, when not in use. It's a bit cosy with the bed out but that's all part of the fun. There are curtains to separate off the area, so you have a little privacy. (When in use, this bed is comfy and cosy but effectively it's a mattress on the floor. It's not for you if you have any issues getting up from a bed on the floor). There's also a good quality high single air bed (which is as high as a normal bed), which will go in the bedroom, if you're really packing 'em in. We have a travel cot but ask guests to bring their own bedlinen for that. Lovely spacious kitchen with breakfast table for two, bathroom with bath and shower over, dining table which extends to seat six (extra chairs are in the kitchen cupboard). Living area with sofa and two funky swivelly chairs. There's no aerial but we have good wifi and there's a DVD player (and some DVDs) plus TV for you to use.
The flat overlooks St Mildred's Bay, a lovely sandy, shallow beach. There are great rock pools at low tide and a fantastic greasy spoon cafe called Pavs. It's all right at the bottom of the garden. Westgate-on-Sea is a big village, with its own station, an affordable independent cinema, a greengrocer, butcher and small Co-op supermarket. If you fancy a drink, head up to Station Road (where the shops are) and go to CCs. It belongs to my cousin Simon and specialises in gin, with lots of different types to try.
  • Jacey confirmed my last minute booked really quickly. Super easy check-in. Cute little apartment with ocean views.

    Karen2016-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant three days at Jacey's flat. We loved the retro decor throughout the flat and the wonderful sunsets over the sea. Jacey was very easy to communicate with and responded to all our queries very promptly, giving us some really great recommendations for places to eat and shop. We particularly enjoyed being so close to Margate, wandering around the many vintage shops in the Old Town and lingering in some of the very welcoming bars and cafes. It was also lovely to be able to cook in such a well equipped kitchen.

    Francis2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay, we had a fantastic weekend. The flat is lovely - really cool and just as described. We really enjoyed walking along the front to Margate and the beautiful beaches. Jacey was a fantastic host - very helpful and kind.

    Abby2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great flat and well set up for our purposes as three cyclists! Space at the bottom of the stairs was very useful for putting 3 bikes, not sure if that is always available though. Not too far from Margate centre but definitely quicker on bike than walking. Note of caution for travellers in Kent in general: take CASH as seemingly lots of places do not take cards. Lots of cash machines around so not really a problem but nearly got caught out a couple of times.

    Will2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute flat, nice and quiet in an ideal location. The sea views from the lounge were stunning and the kitchen receives lots of sunlight which is great for reading and a cup of tea. Communications were swift and instructions for the key collection were simple. There is a costal path into town with spectacular views of the sea. It takes 30 minutes or £5 in a taxi if you were in a hurry. We went in December and was a perfect break from our hectic london lives. It was also great to hear Christmas carol singing at the Turner gallery which really put us in the spirit of Christmas. The Turner gallery is simply awesome too. A must see. We also went to the Shell Grotto which should be on your list. Looking forward to to visiting again in the summer. Would recommend.

  • This property was well maintained, clean and in a quiet area. It has quirky decor and a perfect view. Jacey was a responsive host and, if I'm ever in the area overnight or longer, I would consider staying here again.

    Jamie2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great little flat - big enough to cope with the four of us including two young boys. Nice seafront walk into Margate. Jacey was extremely helpful and prompt in replying. Would recommend

    Richard2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Had a brilliant stay at Jacey's place - wonderful location right by the (surprisingly warm!) sea, great views over the coast, loads of character, great decoration and really comfortable. Jacey was great at communicating, really responsive and flexible which was much appreciated! Would love to stay here again and would def recommend to others :)

    Margate, United Kingdom

Relaxed home with spacious bedroom containing comfortable bunk beds suitable for 1 or 2 guests, lots of storage,TV and tea/coffee facilities. The area is close to the A2 and an ideal location for exploring the Island, with a good bus/train service.
I have a generous sized room in my home which is in the quiet village of Garlinge on the outskirts of Margate. The room contains adult size bunk beds and is suitable for either 1 or 2 people, the rent is adjusted accordingly. There is also a mattress so a third person can be accommodated if needed. The room has good storage, TV with freeview and tea/coffee making facilities as well as a small fridge for your use. There is a table and chairs for guests to work and use laptops. There is also a hairdryer/curling tongs/hair straighteners and an iron/ironing board. Maps and tourist information leaflets are left in the room for guests own use. I share my home with my dog who is very friendly so it would be great if you like animals !
Garlinge is on the outskirts of Margate and is a quiet residential area close to beautiful local beaches as well as seaside cafes and shops in Westgate and Westbrook. Margate Town centre is approximately 25 minutes walk where The Turner Contemporary Centre boasts exhibitions from famous artists and is well worth a visit. Margate also has some lovely cafes, restaurants and some local pubs provide live music. There is also a jazz club hosting comedy entertainment. Our Theatre Royal is one of the oldest Theatres in Britain and is worth visiting; it has a beautiful interior and along with the Winter Gardens showcases theatre and comedy shows. Margate Old Town is lovely to take a leisurely stroll through and has unique and interesting architecture. It also contains delightful sprawling cafes and quirky retro and vintage shops to browse in. If you want a holiday which is relaxed then Margate is definitely the place to visit, whether for a weekend away or a base to explore the rest of Thanet. Margate is only 1 1/2 hours on the fast train from London which makes it ideal for weekends away. Local bus stops provide easy access to the historic port of Ramsgate and the beautiful tourist town of Broadstairs which as an annual Charles Dickens Week and is home to the Broadstairs Folk Festival. Travelling around Thanet is very easy and convenient from local bus stops. Buses also go to Canterbury, which is well worth a visit with it's historic Cathedral. The quaint towns of Westgate-on-Sea with it’s independent cinema and Birchington, are within easy walking distance.
  • Ann's house is very good and she was a very good host as well. She made me feel welcome right from the beginning. She was good to talk to, but if sometimes you choose to be more private and just be in your room relaxing, she also respects that, so you you do feel like you have your own space. But she definitely makes sure you are making the most of your time in Garlinge. Trips to London, if you range from high speed train to car, you're easily talking about 1.5-2 hrs to get there, and I did that a few times and it worked out for me. The neighborhood she lives in is quiet with a few take-away food spots around and a few small grocery/convenience stores within 10-15 min walk. She also lives like 10 min away from the beach, so if you want to go for a walk/run on the beach, that's possible. Canterbury is like 40 min away, and it is a beautiful town. The bed was comfy and the room has a very little, but cute fridge if you want to keep snacks or beverages in your room. But if you need to leave some food in the house, Ann can find a spot for you in the fridge. The house also has a lot of books of all sorts, so that's cool. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Ann's home, and would recommend it.

    Carlos2014-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ann was very welcoming, she gave us loads of pamphlets which were quite useful for visiting the area around Margate. The room has a nice sea-like atmosphere (complete with a mini kettle and herbal teas) and it has bunk beds which is perfect if you're traveling with a friend. Perfect if you're traveling through Margate.

    Cristina Daina2015-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Second visit. Made very welcome and great nights sleep. Will definitely book again.

    Jeremy2017-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ann is a lovely host and was very keen to make our stay as exiting as possible. She gave us local recommendations and maps to not get lost & make sure we catch the last bus, as we were walking to Broadstairs. The house is lovely decorated & Lottie is a wonderful 'bonus'! Margate is definitely worth a second visit & I'm sure we'll come back to Ann's place for that!

    Anna2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Ann is a fantastic woman, who is shining with kindness and friendliness. It can be a little bit difficult to find the house, but staying here is very comfortable, exactly what you need after a long journey. Ann helped me to choose interesting places to see in Margate and near the city, and also provide with some maps. In the morning simple, but nutritious and well-served breakfast will be waiting for you. And you are ready to go to the sea coast, which is rather close to the house.

    Kristina2014-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ann is a lovely host, she was very warm, friendly and provided me with plenty information and tips on where to go, what to do as well as where to eat as i planned to eat outside for the weekend. I spent two peaceful nights in her house, which is very cosy, warm and quiet. The bedroom is exactly as described and on the pictures. The house is in Garlinge, in a quiet cul de sac, with few takeaways and restaurants within 8mns walk, and about 20-30mns walk to Margate or 5mns by bus. I truly enjoyed my stay at Ann's house and would definitely recommend her place!

    Quoc-Hoa2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Ann's house is located about a mile or so outside the centre of Margate, and the area is very quiet and peaceful, despite being just a short walk to the main road with access to bus routes etc. Ann was very helpful with information about Margate and I would be pleased to stay again.

  • The flat was just as described and pictured - perfect and very good value. In fact, I think it was a bit bigger than I had anticipated which was great. It is well situated in the middle of Westgate, very close to the beach and station so using public transport to get around is really easy. So much to do with the kids in the area we could easily have spent a week. The local independent cinema is brilliant as is the fish and chip shop! Don’t hesitate to visit, just not when we want to go back!

    Alette2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Adrian & Stephanie have a very high standard of LET. The flat had everything and more supplied for our stay at a very reasonable price. Very clean and easy to access. The flat was very children friendly with lots of toys available. My grandchildren were over the moon! It truely felt like home from home, we loved our stay, thank you again.

    Lesley2017-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay as a family of four. The flat was impressive, with much though given to making it comfortable, unusual for a holiday home. It felt like a family home, the kids enjoyed the toys and we appreciated the coffee machine. A great location and we hope to get the chance to stay again soon. The only downside was the split levels, I had to sleep downstairs with our 1.5 year and my husband slept upstairs with our older child - a stair gate would remedy this but I appreciate this might annoy other guests.

My house is close to Margate. You’ll love it because of its close proximity to the beach and and local amenities in Westgate-on-Sea. Margate, with its famous Turner Contemporary Gallery and Dreamland are within walking distance. Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Whitstable are also easily reached by bus and train. We are good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).
I have 2 guest rooms, both double, one of which can be made into a twin bedded room. There is a family bathroom on the first floor and a shower room, toilet on the ground floor. A Continental style breakfast is provided at an agreed time in the kitchen.
Westgate on Sea is a unique town, with Victorian and Arts and Craft architecture. The bays and beaches are all part of the Turner skyline, and are on the Viking trail, ideal for walking and cycling. The town has a variety of shops, a cinema, pubs and cafes.
  • We had a lovely time at Gwyneths home. Very clean and well managed. Very flexible and easy going. Would definitely stay again!

Belmont Villas dates back as far as 1872. A former Victorian guest house, which has been welcoming holiday makers visiting Margate for nearly 150 years. With the likes of J.W Turner, the Rolling Stones and The Beatles- frequenting Margate, who knows what history is lurking behind these walls?!
The property is a family friendly basement apartment. Arranged over one floor with one Bathroom, one double Bedroom, access to a shared garden, a sun filled Kitchen/diner and living space with large bay window. A sofa bed is also located in the living room which can sleep two extra people.
The apartment is just moments away from Margate’s main sands and trendy old town- with vintage shops, cafes, galleries and a variety of restaurants and only five minutes away from Margate main station. Parking is available off the main road with no restrictions. If it’s the beach you’re looking for, my personal recommendation would be to visit Westbrook Bay, a two minute walk from the apartment and away from the hustle and bustle of Margate main sands.

My place is close to the beach and parks, great views, art and culture, restaurants and dining, and the city centre. You’ll love my place because of the location, the cosy-ness, and the views. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids). Further a field Broadstairs 3m,Ramsgate5m,Sandwich and Deal20m are all good to see for a day out.
A compact apartment with all that's needed inside and surrounding the property for a holiday or just a break away from things.
The neighborhood is in an up and coming area close to the Sea and all its beaches have to offer. Margate town with its various shops, coffee houses and bars would take around 15 min walk. Dreamland Amusement Park is also within this distance.
  • Great space, it was exactly like the photos and very clean. Really great having a working kitchen with everything you could need. Not to far from Old Town, only a 10minute walk. And very close to the train station. Overall a great stay.

  • Jonathan was a great host, always available and very friendly. The cosy flat which is on the top floor of the building was comfy and had everything we needed for a short holiday to Margate. The location of the flat is great for Margate Main Sands and the Old town is just a short walk away.

  • Jonathan's flat is great, it has everything you could need even with the added extra you may forget to bring such as washing up liquid. You can see the beach from the window and is about 30 second walk. Jonathan was really helpful and came out found us when we weren't sure which flat it was. Both beds are really comfortable, it's a warm cosy flat and really great value. We're already planning when we can come back again

  • Very clean and tidy apartment, spacious and bright. Great that the kitchen was equipped with all electrical/appliances including washing machine. Host was very friendly and helpful. Great location for Margate being a 15 min walk away along the seafront. House is located right next to the beach, lots of takeaways. A nice cafe on the main road and a Tesco express 5 mins walk. Londis mini mart across the road. £3.60 in taxi back at night. Would definitely stay again.

  • Great apartment close to everything.

  • Jonathan was a very good host, appearing as soon as I asked for help with a bit of technology, and sorted it out immediately (it was my incompetence that was the problem!). The apartment itself had everything I needed including a comfy bed, and great views, being on 2nd floor, and only a 5 minute walk from Margate station. Great location, just by Westbrook Bay, easy walking distance to St. Mildred's Bay to one side and Cliftonville, through Margate, to the other. A great stretch of Thanet coastline, with each Bay having a very distinct character - something for everyone. Great paddling and rockpools and lovely sandy beaches. Thoroughly recommended.

    Suzanne2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The flat was perfect, home from home and Jonathan was an excellent host. There is everything you could need in the flat and it was clean, comfortable and a home from home. The wifi was excellent too which made my Daughters happy. We had an amazing time and can't wait to go back next year.

We are a family seaside holiday booking, able to sleep up to 4 adults and a further 2 children, making a total of up to 6 guests. Our non-smoking property can provide for the peaceful traditional seaside break, or the reliable family holiday base operating on a budget.
We are located in a quiet corner of a small Kent seaside village within walking distance of the seafront, and minutes of seaside amenities, shops, and restaurants. We are also a few minutes walk from the main line railway station (direct line to London and Broadstairs). Many interesting and varied sights are easily reachable by car, train or bus.
We are just yards away from the seaside, a quiet seafront suitable for long walks and birdwatching for some of our areas rarities. 1km away to the west is our nearest beach with sports facilities, cafes and restaurants, all on the edge of the North Kent Marshes where one can walk miles into deep countryside. To the east we have Margate famous for the artist resident Turner, Broadstairs famous for resident Charles Dickens, and Ramsgate. London is reachable from our local main line station, and France and Belgium via our nearby ferry ports at Ramsgate and Dover.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maryanne House ! A perfect location on the Kent Cliffs, from where we attended my husband's Graduation Ceremony in Canterbury Cathedral. The weather was lovely and the house is neat, cozy, clean and comfortable ! Thanks for everything, you're a good host Stephen, we really appreciate the quick and helpful communication prior to our stay . Warm greetings, Petra.

    Petra2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great little break right by the sea, lovely walks from the doorstep and close to Margate for a bit of seaside action! We travelled with two young kids (1 and 5) and it proved a great space for them too.

    Amy2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent value for money. A relatively spacious 3 bedroom house with modern kitchen, spacious Lounge -Diner and well decorated roomy bathroom. Extra downstairs toilet handy! Exceptionally clean and tidy upon arrival. Stephen was an excellent attentative host even though we never met. Set in a small housing development literally two minutes from the beach/promenade and 5- 10 minutes walk to Birchington cute town centre & station. Lots of useful shops and cafes to explore. Would recommend nearby Minnis Bay sandy beach plus the Brasserie there has great food. Bedrooms are 1 double, 1 twin and bunks. Currently no WiFi and signal weak meaning patchy 4G. This really is a relaxing"home from home" and perfect as both a base for exploring Kent or just chilling in and using as a getaway. Very good value for money.

  • Great seaside holiday home - views of the sea from all windows, and only a short walk to the nearest bathing bay. Nice big sandy beaches only a mile or so in either direction, and full range of shops on the high street nearby. Very quiet neighbourhood, with no through traffic, so pleasant to walk around. House was comfy with plenty of space for up to 6 - clean with well equipped kitchen and bathroom. We did miss wi-fi though, and phone reception not strongest. Although Stephen is in Japan, he made sure we felt welcome, with a lovely card, fresh milk in the fridge, and tea and coffee to settle in with. Everything was clean and fresh, and the key lock was a convenient way to gain access. We were visiting primarily for my daughter's graduation in Canterbury, but enjoyed the Turner Contemporary in Margate, as well as a nostalgia fix at the Hornby visitor centre. We were lucky with the weather, and had a great day at Minnis Bay, even renting a beach-hut for the day, finishing off with local fish and chips as the sun went down.

    Robert2016-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great for families. Lovely location within easy walking distance of Birchington town and train station. Excellent communication from the host - we will definitely be back!

Victorian house loaded with character, open warmth of fires in Victorian fireplace, home baked muffins, Turner Contemporary Museum,Viking bike trail, retro shops in old Town charm, fun conversations, engaging art, aesthetically appealing, new friends.
The salon and living room show a variety of oil paintings and objets d'arte collected over the years of dealing in the art and antique world. The colourful blend plays an important part as a back-drop to the delicious food and animated breakfast conversations . My aim is offer the best in an unfamiliar setting, to experience something new, yet comfortable.
  • Cathy is lovely and very welcoming. It's an artist house so a little quirky which is great. Cathy knows the areas which need improving, which is good, and it's a very easy place to just get your head down. I was surprised to be made breakfast in the morning so that was very nice.

    Ralph2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely wonderful, unique house, you could spend hours looking round all the art knick knacks. The rooms were spacious and clean. The location was ideal, 30 seconds walk from the beach and about 10 minutes slow stroll into the centre of Margate, which also meant the house was remarkably quiet. Kathleen was a fantastic, accommodating and generous host. I wish I could have stayed for longer!

    Simon2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely lady host, Kathleen was welcoming and helpful. The house is full of an incredible array of objects, not so good if you like order and peace. Breakfast was deliciously rich with muffins scones, cake, butter and home made jams. Our room was disappointing though the beds were small and uncomfortable, no wardrobe space, or a dustbin, no bedside tables or lights and It worked out very expensive for 1 night with cleaning and service charges, (this was maybe due to the bank holiday price hike??)

    Rita2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen was away during my stay, but her neighbour was very welcoming and accommodating re. check-in and check-out times. Great location 5 mins walk from the station and an easy 15 min walk along the seafront into town - you can walk along the beach the entire way if the tide is out. The house is beautiful and the bedroom I stayed in (the Manet room) was cosy. I was travelling alone and it was a great place to stay. It would have been nice to have somewhere to hang my clothes, and a bin in the room, but otherwise perfect.

    Lauren2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time in Margate and at Kathleen's, who was really welcoming and a really interesting person to talk to.

    Elli2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • We went to visit Margate specifically to see an art exhibition. However we got the added bonus in choosing to stay in Kathleen's home. Passionate about art herself we found Kathleen fascinating to talk with. Also, her local knowledge and friendliness refreshing. We had a lovely bedroom with just what we needed for our stay . Informal, Creative and thankfully a thousand miles away from a chain hotel!

    Ruth2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy was the best! She made me feel so at home and so welcome, I loved having breakfast with her every day. We talked about so many interesting things. Nothing was ever too much bother. A truly inspiring lady and a truly inspiring home xx

    Lottie2016-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Kathy was one of my favourite Airbnb experiences so far. We immediately felt so welcome - nothing was too much trouble, and had many chats over the weekend. Kathy's home is beautiful - her eclectic collection of art, furniture and books is everywhere you look, and so interesting. Though we didn't expect it, Kathy baked breakfast muffins or cinnamon bread every morning, which was a perfect way to start the day. Would totally recommend and hope to return.

Bathroom - shower and toilet Bedroom - double bed, table lamp and wardrobe with hanging and storage space. We provide a bath towel for each guest. We provide complementary salt, pepper, vinegar, sugar, tea, coffee, cooking oil, ketchup, and milk, in addition to a tea towel, hand towel, washing up liquid and hand soap. High chair, travel cot (bedding not supplied) and stair gate available for under 2's. We have two other apartments in the building so please take a look at our other listings.
Our superbly located apartment is a great base to explore Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate. It resides on a quiet residential street in an up and coming area of Margate with free on street parking and minutes away from the station. Margate remains rough around the edges having been neglected for so many years; however, since the opening of the Turner Contemporary in 2011, Margate has steadily prospered into an artistic destination. It has become a vibrant and interesting place to be due to so many fresh entrepreneurs migrating and investing in Margate. This is reinforced by the new antique and retro shops, restaurants and bars appearing on the cobbled streets of Margates Old Town at a fast pace. The recently restored Dreamland Amusement Park is only a short walking distance from the apartment. Excitingly, Visit Kent has recently labelled Margate Shoreditch-On Sea, due to its seaside nostalgia, it's retro buzz and golden beaches. A few minutes walk away and you will find Chinese and Indian restaurants, a pizza place and fish and chip shop. There is a local ale house and a Tesco Metro to stock up on essentials. Westbook bay is a five minute walk and is a much quieter beach than Margate and is where locals tend pitch up. You will also find an excellent mini golf course there. You can hire bikes from the bike shop round the corner and take a ride along the coast. A new addition is a great healthy food store selling smoothies, juices, and they do a mean flat white coffee. The street is very quiet, with no through traffic and many of the residents are long term. Margate is going through an amazing transformation and you will notice lots of scaffolding as the area continues to improve. However the house next to ours is run down, we have; as have residents addressed Thanet Council and we are informed that it is going through probate. We have had no complaints from guests and it will certainly not affect your stay, however I felt it appropriate to mention it.
  • Perfect for what we wanted. Comfy bed. Nice and clean. Really central, right next to the station.

The flat comes with all of the basic amenities you would require and we weren't found wanting for anything. We're definitely glad to have stayed here rather than a hotel.

  • This apartment is simply wonderful - brand-new, extremely spacious, and located in the gorgeous former Nurses Residence. All rooms are to the back, so no noise from the road. Very tastefully decorated and perfectly equipped. Great communication and organisation from the hosts, plus lovely flowers to greet me. The underground carpark is a big plus too. 5 stars all-round!

  • Craig and Kelly were wonderful hosts, communicative, helpful and friendly. Craig even got in his car to pick us up from the coach stop due to stormy weather! The flat itself is beautiful and immaculate. As two couples we were incredibly comfortable there, the two bathrooms being a huge plus. The open plan living space, and great television / speakers, make for a very comfortable night in. We cooked on our first night and had everything we needed. I thoroughly recommend this flat as a base to explore the endearing Margate, be sure to check out microbrewery Ales of the Unexpected across the road for a pint or two! Alice x

  • Craig and Kelly were great hosts, with Craig meeting us at the flat to help with our stuff and show us the ropes. Communication was great from the off. The flat was spotlessly clean and the location is minutes from the sea and about a ten minute walk to the centre and old town area. We enjoyed a great NY's stay in Margate!

If walking, it’s 5 mins from the station, 5 mins from the beach and 12 minutes from the beautiful old town. Secure parking was also handy. Hosts were friendly and efficient and took time to show us round the flat as well as leaving lots of local area info. Kindly, they also left tea and coffee and bread and I would happily book and stay again. Recommended.

  • What a wonderful stay. The apartment is beautifully furnished and decorated, spotlessly clean and the bathrooms are fabulous. Apartment has lovely high ceilings, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen and our hosts had even left us some kitchen essentials and some buckets and spades for the children to play with. They were flexible on check in and allowed us to leave our bags, which with two five year olds was very welcome. The TVs are Samsung smart TVs, so have iplayer and all 4 etc. Also, bring your Netflix and Amazon passwords and you can watch your favourites on the telly. The apartment is very close to a lovely quiet beach and the mini golf, and a short walk along the promenade and you're in the old town. Don't forget to bring your beach towels! Easy to get to Dreamland and Turner Contemporary, plus buses run from outside the block. Planning a return trip. Can't recommend this apartment enough.
