Wells-next-the-Sea Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Wells-next-the-Sea

No 1 Boatman's Row is an idyllic former fisherman's cottage in the historic harbour town of Wells-next-the-sea. It is tucked away on a quiet lane, a 5-minute stroll to the quay, pubs and shops. It has one bedroom with a king sized bed and sleeps two adults in comfort. The cottage has a fully-equipped kitchen, wood-burning stove, parking, an attic room with views of the marshes and a sunny, south-facing cottage garden. The stunning sandy beaches of Wells and Holkham are a 25-minute walk away.
Boatman's Row has been our bolt-hole for more than a decade. It was built in 1814, the first of a row of six for local fishermen. There is a lovely peaceful atmosphere about it - a tranquil, homely retreat. We love returning to a cosy fire after a walk on the great expanse of Wells beach, or pottering around Wells shops and then eating fish n chips or having a barbecue in the garden. It's really nice having pubs, restaurants, shops and the beach within walking distance. Wherever you stay in Wells, we are sure you will have a lovely time but we reckon 1 Boatman's Row is almost unique among one-bedroom places in having such a good location, such a nice garden and views of the marshes and the sea beyond. The cottage is south-facing, so the sun streams in during winter and in summer the garden is a real sun-trap - you can lie back in our deckchairs, sheltered from North Norfolk's notorious north and east winds! Like any old cottage, it is a cosy, small space, the stairs are steep, and it isn't suitable for small children. As you'll see from the photos, the kitchen and bathroom are compact and not particularly flash but they are fully-equipped and we take pride in keeping everything clean and tidy. North Norfolk is a hotspot for birdwatchers and nature-lovers and anyone who just needs a break from the big city. Life seems much simpler when you stay in a little cottage like 1 Boatman's Row.
We love Wells-next-the-sea! The North Norfolk coast is an increasingly popular and fashionable holiday area, famed for its unspoilt beaches, marshes and nature reserves. At its heart is Wells, a small town (2,800 population) with a historic quay and attractive old buildings from the era when it was a bustling port. Wells is thriving but, unlike other villages in the area, it is not all second homes and upmarket boutiques - it is still a vibrant local community with proper shops (a really excellent butcher, greengrocer, fishmonger, deli, chemist, supermarket, as well as cafes and tourist shops) and really nice pubs. It also still has a small fishing fleet, and you can buy crabs straight from the returning fishermen if you time it right. There are two excellent fish n chip shops and some very good pubs and restaurants serving locally-caught fish and samphire from the marshes. Our favourite evening out is a meal in The View restaurant overlooking the marshes and then a pint of local Wherry at The Albatros, a unique Dutch barge moored in the quay - go there for pancakes and free live music.
  • Great rental. Exactly as described.

  • Great little place in a lovely quiet location close to the centre. Suitable for two adults and one baby (which we were). Lisa was very helpful and communicative before we arrived and the house manual told us everything else we needed to know when we got there. Highly recommended if you want to visit North Norfolk- which we highly recommend- there is so much to do!

  • A perfect little cottage in a great location. Small but perfectly equipped for a comfortable cosy stay.

  • 1 Boarmans Row is in a quiet spot but close to amenities, comfortable and well equipped, a good base for exploring the North Norfolk coast. The web site details for the property are accurate.

  • Super position, fabulous bolt hole. We have had a super time.

    Michelle2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect small cottage within 5 mins walk of the harbour. Comfortable bed and sofa , well equipped kitchen with washing machine with a garden and washing line. Clean and well kept and decorated. The cottage was perfect for us and we felt ourselves unwind as soon as we stepped through the door. The car park space was challenging but not worryingly so and a necessary luxury with the lanes making the area so special being so narrow. Wells has something for everyone with a mixed crowd ,and is friendly and compact ,with pubs and eating places all over the town so it didn't seem too crowded. Wells beach is a healthy walk away (or minature train or car ride) and attracts the day trippers as it's very sandy and picturesque with its beach huts though it's again a healthy walk to the sea unless you want to swim in the channel . Brancaster beach was our favourite seeming less used than Wells as it was a car journey away and having direct access to the sea and the car park was along side with pleasant toilets! Wells loves its dogs and the beaches and restaurants and shops and frankly everywhere are dominated by them ....great if you're a dog lover ,otherwise be prepared! If you want a relaxed stay in a luxe cottage within walking distance of a thriving harbour side town with access to beaches and well used local restaurants then Lisa's in Wells should be your first choice!

Leith House is half a mile from the beautiful north Norfolk coast. The accommodation is attached to an old farmhouse with its own entrance. We are one mile from Burnham Market, Burnham Thorpe and Burnham Overy Staithe. The nearest entrance to the stunning Holkham Estate is half a mile away.
On the ground floor there is a good-sized living area with kitchen/dining and sitting room. Upstairs is a double bedroom and shower room with WC and hand washbasin. One guest did say that we should point out that part of the ceiling in the bedroom slopes so that a tall person would have to lower their head if they chose to sleep on that side of the bed.
The surrounding villages and beaches are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The wildlife is among the best in the UK. In fact the National Nature Reserve just half a mile north of Leith House is rated as one of the very best places for birdwatching. There are many pubs and restaurants. The famous Holkham Hall and park are close by, as is Wells-next-the-Sea - a lively fishing port. Burnham Thorpe is Nelson's birthplace and the village church is where his father was the Rector.
  • Beautiful self contained annex to a large home, with stunning views and two donkeys!!! Zoe and Ben were perfect hosts and very helpful. Wish we were there for longer. Highly recommended

    Jemima2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Zoe and Ben made us feel very welcome with some thoughtful homely touches, they had great knowledge of the local area and the annex was very well appointed. We had everything we needed. Zoe was quick to reply to messages before our arrival, was kind enough to organise a bottle of champagne before we got there and didn't mind when we checked in late. The area is peaceful and the local pub was fab. A lovely weekend!

    Bev2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Zoe and Ben are lovely, helpful hosts. The place is cosy and comfortable with some nice touches such as a DVD player and some books. The surrounding area is lovely, with some great walks in Holkham and Wells. We did have a problem with a creaky, noisy bed but Zoe assured me they would look into this. All in all, I would recommend this place if you want to explore the local area.

    William2017-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy, comfortable and quiet 2 night stay at this lovely annexe. The fresh eggs and milk, plus tea, coffee, sugar, cereals, pepper, salt and cooking oil, were a welcome touch. Books, games and DVDs to select from. Plenty of room downstairs, but the bedroom is a bit tight with the angle of the eaves. Meeting the donkeys Mabel and Mungo was delightful. The owners were very helpful, providing extra pillows when asked. Unfortunately, they were unable to get the wifi to work!

    Josephine2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. Zoe could not be more helpful!

    Natalie2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very comfortable stay with Zoe and her husband Ben. The accommodation was clean, well appointed and delightfully situated. Ben and Zoe gave us a warm welcome and were charming hosts. We were very happy there and would recommend to friends.

    Judy2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cosy place, with grass all round and, across a small road, a field with the chickens and donkeys. Communication with Zoe was great and we met her husband who checked we had all we needed. A car would definitely be handy to get round.

    Anne2016-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great short stay with Zoe and Ben. They were welcoming and helpful and the annex had everything we needed for our short stay. You will need a car if you stay here as it is not in a town but we would certainly stay again. Thanks both!

    Burnham Overy Town, United Kingdom

An 18th. century barn converted to a modern, comfortable living space in a quiet yard, close to the lively quay. Wells has a fleet of fishing boats and the famous Albatros Dutch sailing ship, now a bar/restaurant in the harbour. The town is in the centre of the beautiful and wild North Norfolk coast, a great base for walking, wildlife, birdwatching, canoeing, cycling, golf, picnics or lazy days on the beach, which is one of the best in the UK.
We converted the barn in 2009 and were short-listed for Master builder of the Year Award. It is light and airy with a large main kitchen/lounge/dining area, there is a bridge over this to a quiet desk space and sofa. The interior is lit by a large sky-light and plenty of windows. A wood-burning stove makes it extra cosy in the winter though there is full central heating.
Wells is an attractive small seaside resort and fishing port. It sits about a mile back from the sea behind beautiful extensive salt marsh in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. With a seemingly endless sweeping sandy beach with brightly painted beach huts, fringed by pine woods. The town itself is interesting to wander through with its narrow streets a mix of tiny fisherman's cottages and fine Georgian mansions. There is a good range of cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs. In Staithe Street you will find a wonderful assortment of small shops, a fishmonger, a baker, delicatessen, butcher, ironmonger, newsagents, bookshops a hairdresser and so on.
  • Beautiful barn conversion house in a very central part of Wells, just steps from the quay and main shopping road. We were really happy to be able to borrow beach items for a day at the beach (body boards, wind break, bucket and spades etc), and the kitchen is well-equipped.

    Sophie2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay; ideal location, well equipped for babies, cooking, beach fun. Martin was a great host.

    Rowan2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time. The barn was stylish and ultra comfortable with all that you would need for a family of four. The Location was brilliant for all our needs. We would highly recommend staying here and would love to come back for another stay at any time of the year!

    Sharon2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location right near the quay. Wells is a fantastic sea side location.

    Anita2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • The barn had all the amenities you could ask for especially as this was our first holiday with our 6 month old.

    Anne2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully thought out space in the apartment - light, airy and well thought-out. The log burner is the perfect evening treat to make it extra cosy. In terms of location, it's up a quiet, picturesque side street and a one minute work to the front - restaurants, shops etc. The apartment was immaculate with lots of lovely thoughtful touches - wine, wood for burning and even crabbing lines! Very highly recommended.

Grey Goose cottage is close to Wells harbour. You'll love the house because of the location and the ambiance. There are a variety of shops and great restaurants only a very short walk away. As soon as you step out of the door you will smell the sea in the air and hear the cry of the seagulls. The cottage is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with children), and furry friends (£20 pet fee).
Grey Goose Cottage is a delightful brick house which sleeps 3 in 2 bedrooms. Fully centrally heated and completely redecorated this year, the house has a wonderfully sunny, south facing enclosed courtyard in which to relax with a glass or two, after a busy day on the beach. Downstairs the cottage comprises of a sitting room and kitchen with dining room table and upstairs there are two bedrooms (one with a glimpse of the sea!) and a light and airy family bathroom. There are books, games, toys and wifi. The house is dog friendly.
Grey Goose Cottage is situated within minutes of the Buttlands where there are fantastic award winning gastropubs. Wells Quay is a few yards away where you can watch the local fishermen bring in their catches and children can have great fun fishing for crabs off the 'Albatros' clipper boat. We are also delighted to see a new ice cream parlour which has opened at the bottom of the street just before you reach the playground. From the harbour you can take the miniature steam train down to Wells beach with it's brightly painted huts and if you are lucky, spot a seal or two. There is so much to do here from sailing and bird watching to enjoying the outdoor cinema at Holkham. The Chocolate Deli in Walsingham is also worth a visit especially for their fantastic chocolate making workshops. Wells Carnival in August and the Pirate Festival in September are also great fun. There is wonderful Christmas shopping in the area too. Burnham Market has some fantastic shops and Christmas is celebrated with pretty lights and a skating rink on the green. Father Christmas arrives in Wells Quay by boat, under a display of fireworks at the beginning of December which is quite magical.
  • Lovely cosy cottage, very clean, tastefully furnished. Close to the harbour and lots of fantastic restaurants and shops. Jane was a perfect host and had left wine and flowers for our arrival. Also the basics milk, tea, coffee etc where provided. I would highly recommend this cottage and would definitely stay again.

    Suzanne2016-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jane was a great host, easy to communicate with and quick to respond. We appreciated the wine and biscuits on arrival! The cottage was really clean and cosy. The kitchen was well equipped so ideal if you are planning to cook. It's just a short walk to the beautiful beach, the perfect spot for exploring Norfolk's coastline!

    Kate2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Just like it said, a romantic hideaway in a beautiful place.

    Simon2017-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a lovely week in this well-equipped, cosy cottage. Communication with Jane was excellent. A good working kitchen with everything we needed, and comfortable beds. Wells is a stunning town, within easy access to all the beautiful, coastal towns of north Norfolk. Our small family had a wonderful time, and thanks to Jane for the hospitality and the yummy biscuits and wine

    Louise2017-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a romantic getaway for two in north Norfolk - look no further!

    John2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a delight, we stayed as a family of 4 - with a 3.5 year old and 1.5 year old - worked perfectly, with travel cot, high chair and stair gates all provided. Cottage is cosy and homely. Jane was the perfect host - even giving assistance on the bank holiday weekend. Location can't be beaten. Would highly recommend!

    Pia2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely perfect get away for us and our little pooch. The cottage was beautiful and cosy and the location was exactly what we were after. There are some great pubs and shops right on the doorstep and you can park right outside the cottage.

    Annabel2016-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We decided on the very Friday morning, that we really fancy going away to the seaside for a long weekend. Looked through the cottages available on Airbnb (which we are a big fan!) and decided on the home that Jane had. But was a bit concerned that we might not hear back in time. Within an hour we got confirmation from Jane, that we were all set - with clear instructions of how to get there and let ourselves in. The cottage is in a great location, in a seaside town with the shops and a supermarket walking distance and more important not far from the wonderful beach. There are two fish and chip restaurants just minutes away and we also ate at The Crab House, round the corner which was busy and so worth booking if you want to eat there. The kitchen is also good enough to cook at home if you did not fancy eating out. Everything is as per the photos. It felt like a cottage that we would love to own ourselves, with wonderful white towels, clean welcoming white bedsheets, a comfy sofa and our four year old boy loved the toys left in the second bedroom. There was a welcoming bottle of wine and the local ginger biscuits when we arrived. What more can we ask? Thank you, Jane. We are sorry we did not get to meet you in person, it was very nice of you to also let us stay a bit little longer so that we did not have to rush in the morning.

Wells next the Sea, Norfolk, United Kingdom

The town green, with its two high-quality pub restaurants, is on the doorstep of this fantastic character getaway! This beach bolthole is seconds from the high street, which leads directly to the quayside a short 5-minute stroll away. The property has two generous bedrooms and a spacious living area and kitchen, with a small courtyard garden. We also have access to beach huts in the dog-friendly and dog-free sections of Wells beach by separate agreement (not included in property rental).
A large, light and spacious living room provides two sofas with space for cosy family evenings playing the board games or catching up on the day's news or a DVD on the flat-screen television with Sky TV or listening to the great-quality wireless sound system. The wi-fi is fibre, with download speeds of around 35mb. The kitchen has all mod-cons including a large fridge freezer, oven, microwave and washing machine. Also provided are a Dolce-Gusto coffee machine and De'Longhi toaster and kettle. The dining table allows for 4 people to gather for a hearty breakfast before the day's activities. There is more than sufficient kitchen equipment to take advantage of the amazing local Norfolk produce on offer in the nearby deli and other shops to create a family dinner if you decide to stay in, but it may be difficult to resist the two pubs - The Globe and The Crown - both only yards away and both providing great beers, wines and of course superb a food offering. The two generous bedrooms offer a choice depending on guests' requirements - one has a super-king bed and the second bedroom has a zip-link which can alternate between a super-king bed or can be separated into two single beds. Both bedrooms have brand new (2017) hotel-quality mattresses, built-in wardrobes with plenty of space and two bedside tables, each with reading lamps. The bathroom is a light and contemporary suite with bath, basin and toilet, with a shower unit over the bath. A selection of complimentary high-quality toiletries is available for guests and towels for the bathroom and linen for the bedroom are of course provided. To the rear of the property there is a small paved courtyard area with an outside table and two chairs. There is no designated parking, but there are no parking restrictions on The Buttlands and there is space immediately outside the property which is usually available. This property would make a perfect getaway for friends, couples or families looking for a place close to the town, the beach and everything that the beautiful North Norfolk coast has to offer. A beach hut in the dog-friendly section of Wells beach is available by separate agreement (not included in property rental) on a weekly basis, Friday to Friday.
  • This is a gorgeous place to stay in Wells-next-the-sea - it couldn't be more perfectly situated. The house is lovely with comfy beds and big sofas. The kitchen is great and well equipped. We loved staying here and the fact that it is next to the green makes it ideal for dogs. Would definitely stay again.

Very pleased with the furnishings and the basket of goodies and fridge items on arrival was a lovely touch and very welcome (the bacon was the best I've tasted)! It really was a home from home. Lovely to be on the green and close to the quay, shops and restaurants. Beach is amazing as always, easy to drive to or take the lovely little train along the beach road! Great communication from Jamie and quick to answer any queries. Would not hesitate to come back again! Thank you.

The cabin is in my garden and just two minutes from the quay. It is central to the shops and restaurants and bars in lovely Wells. I make sure that essentials like tea and coffee are available. The bed is made up and there are lots of towels. Shampoo, shower gel and washing up liquid are also ready to go! The kitchen is well equipped for two guests.
The sea when the tide is up. Early mornings, the beach. The super independent shops, the pubs, cafes and delis. The ease of living in a small town with a bank, post office and friendly neighbours!

Our annex sleeps up to 6 in 2 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and 2 single beds. Bedroom 2 has a king size bed. There is a bathroom upstairs and a shower room downstairs. There is a kitchen but no lounge. There is cot on the landing.
This is an area of outstanding natural beauty and it really is lovely. The annex is light and airy with wooden floors, pretty beds and Cabbages and Roses fabrics. Simple but comfortable. It is made up of two bedrooms, a bathroom, a shower room and a kitchen. It also houses our office which we use on a daily basis but it has a separate entrance. The kitchen is well equipped. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and 2 single beds plus sofa and TV. The other bedroom has one king size bed it also has a TV. There is also a cot on the landing between the two bedrooms. We also have a high chair and stair gate at top of stairs. There is off street parking and you can share our garden which has stunning views. There is also an Al fresco eating area and BBQ. We put 'bake yourself' croissants and pain au chocolats in the freezer so you have something for breakfast on your first morning and there is milk and OJ in the fridge for you when you arrive plus tea and coffee.
There is so much to do the neighbourhood that I hardly know where to start...... I love the sea and the beaches, the walking, the views, the wonderful shops of Holt and Burnham Market, fish and chips, our local pub, our village shop, the friendly neighbours, the beautiful Binham Priory. We even have a dairy up the road selling raw milk! • I have never been so relaxed - such wonderful views, peaceful location and the most comfortable bed. Thank you so much; we have already recommended Sarah's place to friends and family.

  • A brilliant couple of days in a fantastic place hosted by a truly welcoming and generous family. Big thank you. James, Angie and Hannah.

  • A lovely place to stay. 2 of us stayed the night so we only really used one of the bedrooms. The King size bed is extremely comfortable and the bedroom is very cozy. The bathrooms are lovely - full size bath, and a great shower with amazing water pressure! The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the breakfast in the morning was lovely. The view from the windows was very nice - looking out on the fields, and its very quiet there so a very peaceful nights sleep was had. A lovely stay and we would go back!

  • Sarah was extremely helpful before our booking and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation is as stated and a real home from home. The garden is great for children and our hosts were very friendly as were all other locals we met in and around the area. The seals are worth seeing st Blakeney Point, Holkham estate great and you can hire bikes there, Holkham beach just beautiful. My kids loved the Raw Milk too from the local farm. All in all a great visit and we can't wait to return.

    Karen2016-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay. Lovely family run place with great views. Accommodation is well presented and cared for. I'm sure we will be back again in the future.

  • Sarah was very welcoming to her spacious and beautifully transformed flat in this quiet, picturesque Norfolk village. A return visit is already booked!

  • Lovely stay . Stunning surroundings. Everything you could want for a night . Sarah was very lovely and unobtrusive. Thanks

  • Fantastic find; incredible location, beautiful high quality accommodation and extremely welcoming hosts. We spent 5 days here with our 2 year old twins. We were worried before we arrived that the annex might be too small, but the rooms are incredibly spacious, light and airy - it was an ideal size. Sarah was incredibly friendly and warm towards our young family; they felt right at home. The location couldn't be better - various National Trust properties within half an hour and a wealth of beautiful beaches, with Wells only 5 miles away. Lots to do for couples, friends or families. Highly recommend, we're already planning to be back!

  • Lovely sweet (but spacious) cottage very well located with cosy fireplace and bright modern interior. The only downside was that the mattress in the master bedroom was very lumpy with broken springs which meant it was impossible to get a good night's sleep. The sofas in the living room were also rather hard and uncomfortable.

    Heather2016-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely relaxing stay. Excellent location close to all our favourite North Norfolk beaches and villages. Good sized garden which was secure for our dog. The kitchen has everything you need. Felt like a home and not a rental property.

    Brooke2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is furnished exceptionally. The lounge and dining area is lovely and there are far more kitchen utensils than you would normally find in a rental. This is a good location to explore Norfolk and a restful place to relax

    John2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. The surrounding area was beautiful and peaceful. The setting idyllic. The cottage was fully equipped with everything we could possibly need. Would love to stay again for a longer period. Thanks so much. We truly enjoyed our short but sweet stay.

    Sara2016-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • I have been going to Norfolk off and on for the last 45 years and I would have no hesitation in saying that Kate's cottage is the best place I have stayed. Absolutely faultless, the cottage has everything and is wonderfully located. Kate was both charming and quick to respond.

    Robert2016-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Kate's lovely cottage, very cosy and has everything you need to cater for yourself. It's is in a great location to explore North Norfolk (we were lucky enough to do so by car) and we have fallen in love with this beautiful part of England. Despite Kate being fairly new to AirBnB it seems that the cottage is a seasoned rental favourite. We found it a little tricky to locate, so make sure you plan further ahead than we did so you know how to find it!

    Lizzie2015-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very homely cottage in a great location for exploring the North Norfolk coast and it was nice to have the woodburner on chilly evenings. We very much welcomed the tea and cake that Kate had left for our arrival and she was a very helpful host, giving us lots of ideas for trips out and about. We loved being able to watch her chickens from the well equipped kitchen and really enjoyed our stay.

    Sarah2016-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's place is a gorgeous retreat. It's a large, very comfortable cottage - and Kate is supportive, yet discreet next door. The kitchen is fully equipped and the wood burning stove a treat on winters evening. This place is excellent value!

Wagtail Cottage is the perfect holiday retreat situated in the heart of this beautiful coastal village. The property is listed and oozes character with a wealth of old beams, chunky walls and sun drenched rooms. The cottage has recently undergone a complete renovation and offers luxury accommodation for discerning guests.
On the groundfloor of Wagtail there is a living room (with wood burner, TV, Wifi), Kitchen, WC and Utility area. Stairs lead to the first floor which has a king size bedroom and bathroom, including a freestanding bath, large spacious shower and WC. On the second floor is the second king size bedroom.
  • Luisas cottage is next level! In the beautiful village of stiffkey it is surrounded by classic Norfolk charm and with a charming store next door you won't have to travel far for the basics! We stayed here so that we could visit cromer and Hunstanton and all of the places in between! We left wishing we had more time because we didn't realise how much there was to do near by! The cake and prosecco was a lovely touch we felt at home as soon as we got there! Many thanks for the lovely stay!

    Jade2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage and garden, well equipped, clean, comfortable and quiet. Good location for coastal walks and inland villages, excellent!

    Joe (Neil)2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Wagtail Cottage! Check in/out was very straight forward via a coded lockbox. The whole cottage is very comfortable and airy, both bedrooms are lovely as was all the bedding. The kitchen is a great place to cook and eat dinner, leading out into a charming private garden which for us was the highlight of the property. A tranquil spot to sit outside next to the stream and enjoy the sun (when it's out!), with frequent visits from the local ducks and, if you're lucky, from a huge family of swans too. Stiffkey is lovely and quiet, with a cute local shop a few seconds away selling lovely homeware, gifts, food, fresh cakes etc. Everywhere we visited in the four days was between 10-30 mins away so there's plenty to visit nearby. Hope to revisit one day!

    Anastasia2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a fantastic place to stay, all the rooms are very tastefully decorated and the kitchen and bathroom in particular have been finished to a very high level. The bath and shower are amazing! The location in the village of Stiffkey is beautiful, and perfect to explore the beaches and nature reserves of the North Norfolk coast. The cottage was spotlessly clean, checking in was simple, and there was cake and prosecco waiting for us when we got in. Luisa responded to any questions we had straight away, and was a great host. The best thing I can say is that we had such a good time here we'll be coming back!

    James2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in a lovely village location. Ideal for touring the north Norfolk coast. Great facilities, very clean and well presented and the wine and cake were a very welcome surprise. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone.

    Derek2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wagtail cottage was delightful! We were three adults basing ourselves in Stiffkey for walking and exploring. The cottage was ideal - lovely bedrooms, spotlessly clean, a fabulous little garden with seating and picturesque little river and all comforts needed for a relaxing stay. The local pub, The Red Lion, and Stiffkey Stores within a stone's throw were both great for meals and last minute essentials. I would book it again without hesitation!

    Tracy2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely property in a great location. We were welcomed by a spotlessly clean cottage, with everything just as described in the listing; plus some lovely bubbly and chocolate cake. The garden was beautiful and ideal for a cold glass of something in the evening by the river. I'd definitely recommend Wagtail Cottage to friends.

Stunning, romantic shepherd's hut with en suite shower and WC, cosy wood burner, kitchenette, sumptuous bed linen. Nestled in its own pretty, wildlife-rich garden on the Blue Skies Campsite. Ditch the car and walk to see the town's working fishing boats, chic shops and fantastic restaurants, or to the Coast Path and magical views over the salt marsh. Superb base to explore all that this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has to offer. My comfy hut will help make your stay in Wells extra special.
It has been a real labour of love to source and prepare the shepherd's hut for guests and I hope you enjoy the results. From the plants in the garden to the stylish crockery, everything is designed to create a pretty environment for you to relax in. The rural location gives you a sense of space and the hut has its own drive, parking and garden. Birds and butterflies thrive in the wooded dell, including the resident cuckoo. Sitting at the table inside, you'll see the trees silhouetted against the sunset as you eat an evening meal. In the sunny garden you can spread the day's newspapers out on the picnic bench, topping up coffee from the cafetiere. I also provide deck chairs for basking in the sun. The bed is deliciously comfortable and inviting. The en suite shower and taps have instant hot water. The wood burner is seriously effective and out of season you'll soon find that you're more than toasty! You won't need to use it during the warmer months but you might want to just for the romance of it. The hut is also insulated and double-glazed. We have mains water. The electricity is supplied by solar panel. I've found ways to provide you with nearly every comfort you'd expect in a normal self-catering property. The only differences are that cooking facilities are limited and there is currently no wifi or TV. However, the 4G reception is extra good (a by-product of the offshore wind farm) so you can still get online and stream videos. I may consider providing pocket wifi in future if people demand it. Bed: Pocket sprung double bed with Cath Kidston duvet cover and hotel-quality towels, sheets and pillows. Storage for your clothes: baskets under the bed, a bespoke ottoman, lots of hooks, hangers. Dining table and chairs, digital radio, Bluetooth sound bar, kitchenette with gas camping stove, full size fridge with ice box. Door leading to en suite shower, washbasin and wc. Liquid soap, shower gel and moisturiser provided. Shelves and storage for your additional toiletries, shaving mirror. Garden: Picnic bench, garden bench, deck chairs to relax with a book and glass of wine, Weber BBQ. Parking: Designated car parking for one car. Heating: Wood burner. Also provided: Enough wood and kindling to get you started with the wood burner, gas for the camping stove and charcoal for the BBQ (more wood, gas canisters and charcoal for sale on-site), Norfolk ginger biscuits, flowers, milk. We have no mains electricity, so the fridge and lights are powered by solar panel and leisure battery. I provide a 12v charger with various adapters so you can power your mobile etc but there is no TV, WiFi or microwave. I have bought a 12-volt hairdryer for your use. I also supply a gas-powered cordless curling tong. Cooking: We have no oven but you can cook simple meals on the gas camping stove. Pans and cooking utensils provided. Keep the window open if you use it inside. You can also cook using the charcoal barbecue in the garden. Instructions and a couple of roasting recipes are in the guest information folder. There are also plenty of great restaurants, fish & chip shops and cafes plus good supermarkets, delis, bakery, butcher and fishmonger in Wells. Tea/coffee: Boil the kettle on the gas camping stove or wood burner. Tea, coffee, sugar provided.
Wells beach was named Sunday Times "Beach of the Year" in 2016 and it's not hard to see why. The wide open skies, the sense of freedom even on a busy summer's day, the sweep of colourful huts against the pine forest. Located one mile from the harbour, you can walk along the beach wall to get there, taking in the view of the channel lined with leisure boats and the salt marshes and sea beyond. You can also take the little narrow gauge train part-way there or there is a car park if you choose to drive. We have fantastic gastro pubs, fish & chip shops and cafes a short walk from the shepherd’s hut (I can make recommendations) and great independent retailers along Staithe Street. Or to find solitude and wildlife you don't have to walk far. Local OS map and walks books available for use by guests. Wells has a rich calendar for art and culture. Live theatre screenings with Screen-next-the-Sea, music and theatre at Holkham Hall and the annual festivals. Norwich attractions are an hour away. Sport: swimming pool at the school, sailing, tennis courts, park run at Holkham Hall, lots of great running and cycling routes on your doorstep. As well as the landscape, it's the lively community feel that makes Wells special - the historic fishing fleet landing the day’s catch on the harbour wall, the sailing club ‘sharpies’ racing out by the lifeboat shed, children ‘gillying’ for crabs, and the popular annual calendar of events, including Wells Carnival, Poetry-next-the-Sea, Wheels-next-the-Sea, the Pirate festival and the magical Christmas Tide.
  • We recently stayed at the shepherds hut for my boyfriends birthday. Zoe was incredibly helpful on the lead up to our stay - she even helped make the hut more special by adding a banner and balloon for when we arrived. She gave us some great tips for places to go/ eat/ things to see. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to do them all, but the things we did manage to do didn't disappoint. The log burner is a real treat on cold mornings; it would be the first thing we'd do on a morning before having a cosy cup of tea in bed and then getting ready to head out for the day. The weekend was absolutely worth every penny we spent and we have fallen in love with Wells!

    Jas2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Zoe you were a great host and answered all our questions promptly. It was lovely to relax at the hut in the quiet surroundings aswel as being in walking distance to the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Now I can't wait to come again! Thanks again, Annie and Ryan

  • Zoe has created a really special place with her hut by the sea.Her attention to detail both in the hut and outside in the garden made this a very enjoyable stay. She is really informative about what is going on in the area - I should have stayed longer.

  • The Hut Next The Sea is the perfect retreat to enjoy lovely Wells-Next-The-Sea in. It’s so pretty and every care and consideration has gone into its design and contents. Zoe is a lovely host who had loads of great recomendations of activities for us which were very helpful. We loved making tea on the wood burning stove and slept very well in the cosy bed. The little touches really do go a long way.

  • This was absolutely my best air bnb experience to date. Everything is exactly as it was described in advance. The location was only a fifteen minute walk to the sea front in Wells and I'm pretty sure we had the campsite to ourselves as we didn't see anyone else there during our stay. Just a perfect little romantic retreat. Thank you!

    Matt2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • A charming little place to stay, nicely appointed cabin and a lovely comfy bed. Near enough to Wells you can walk to the harbour on a nice day. If you consider staying here an excellent glamping experience you'll not be disappointed.

    William2017-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had three great nights at the hut in the summer- it offered good value, lovely location and all the comfort you might need! Wells is a great little town and there's loads to do in the area. Zoe was a fantastic host, who made everything as easy as it was possible to be, was in regular communication, replied very quickly to any questions and provided loads of excellent recommendations.

It's ideally situated in the heart of the Binham village, within walking distance of a village shop and local pub. The Chapel is a fabulous former Methodist Chapel dating back to 1868, which has undergone extensive refurbishment ready for holiday letting from May 2016. • A lovingly restored Methodist chapel in the centre of Binham. It was perfect for our young family - little touches such as the plastic crockery and cutlery, step ups and the open plan space. It was also great having an en-suite off the master bedroom area. My treat was having a long soak each evening in the roll top bath. Just loved the property.

    Clare2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for a family. The Chapel is a lovely space, and from the linens to the appliances, everything is of a high standard. The pub in the village is very friendly, and the local shop very handy. The location is great for exploring the North Norfolk area. Laura the host was easy to contact, if we needed anything.

    Andy2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We found the Chapel in an immaculate condition, with welcoming tea, coffee and a very nice bottle of wine. Important to us on holiday are the beds., and I must say they were wonderfully comfortable. The Chapel has been beautiful restored. The village of Binham could win an award for best kept village. It was perfect, in an excellent location for touring the area. We had an excellent stay and will return.

A superbly appointed 3 bedroom(sleeps six) modern holiday home in the popular North Norfolk seaside town of Wells next Sea, winner of the UKs best beach 2016 in the Sunday times. The house is perfectly positioned for the quayside, shopping on Staithe street and gourmet meals on the historic Butlands.
The house is perfect for a family seaside holiday, couples get away, walking, birdwatching or just friends relaxing.
The beautiful sandy beach, with its pine trees, sand dunes and colourful beach huts, is Wells' most famous feature. Walk for 1.5 miles or so along the golden sands and you'll end up in Holkham. Gwyneth Paltrow walked across this very beach during the closing scenes of Shakespeare in Love. Whether you decide to collect shells, fly a kite or build a sand castle, this is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and deservedly so! For nature lovers, you can spot oyster catchers and ringed plovers, who nest on the beach, along with some common and little terns. The Quay and The Granary The busy fishing Quay is an ever popular attraction. Children fish for crabs from the edge of the quay, and frequent the amusement arcade, the ice cream stall and the sweet shop. You can buy cockles and crab sticks from the fish stall and watch the fishing boats come and go. The freshly caught seafood is a speciality in many of the local restaurants, and eating fish 'n chips on the quay is a popular pastime. One of the main industries of the town in the 19th century was malting. Some of the granaries and maltings still exist, and an impressive feature of the harbour is the large granary building with its distinctive overhanging gantry. Built in 1903, the granary has been turned into luxury flats with magnificent views of the harbour.
  • Great location, few minutes walk to pubs, restaurants and harbour. Also 5 minutes walk from Mills Farm If like me you'd like to bring your horse! Lovely clean and comfy home perfect for the whole family. Ample parking around the back and most importantly pet friendly

  • Stayed here for a weekend. The place has just been put on AirBnB (informed we were the first guests!). It was comfy and very clean, you can tell a lot of care has been put into getting it ready. A short distance walk to the middle of town, it is on quiet street and boasts a very large garden. The garden is still being landscaped (grass has not grown in yet), but we were informed about this when booking and you can tell it will look good when nature does its thing. Had a perfectly good stay and the hosts were very pleasant and helpful.

  • We really enjoyed staying at Mark & Esther's. The house has been newly refurbished - everything is to a great standard and it's perfect for a family or group of friends. We were able to take a very short walk into the centre of Wells-Next-The-Sea and explore the quaint town and local area. All the recommendations were also spot on - we particularly enjoyed our trip to see the seals! Would certainly go back and recommend to all, thanks!

  • Everything explained in the description is spot on. We loved his recommendations and the easy check in. Place was spotless and perfect for a short stay. Only minor thing is that because of the history and age of the house it is very squeaky. Would definitely stay again.

  • Had a great time, location was great. Cottage was comfortable and cosy. Instructions all very clear. Lovely stay. Would recommend and visit again.

    James2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is as described and was warm during one of the coldest weekends of the year. It has all the facilities you require. Check-in by picking up a key worked smoothly. The house is next to the main road, although there is not a lot of traffic. Wells is a particularly lovely seaside town. Thank you.

    David2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Just back from a lovely few days in Wells. The house was close to the town centre and very well equipped for our needs. Made for a very relaxing, very enjoyable stay.

Bree`s Cabin is a genuine Norwegian Log Cabin, that is set in its own private garden In an area of outstanding natural beauty, it is close to all amenity's and only a short walk from the famous Harbour with all of its pubs and restaurants. Here you can sit and watch the fishing boats arrive back with there daily catch, or take one of the many glorious walks that abound this area or have a ramble down to the fantastic local beaches. * Please read things to note, as we do have flexible booking *
Bree`s Cabin is Ideal for couples whether you like to just relax or if walking or bird watching appeals the options are endless. This part of the North Norfolk Coast is a Mecca for its Coastal and inland Walks with the coastal path only a short stroll from Bree`s Cabin.
The Cabin is set in a conservation area, this makes up part of an area of outstanding natural beauty, that stretches along the North Norfolk Coast.
  • The cabin was a lovely very retreat. Although it's on a 'main'road and the Co-op is literarily across the road, and opened till late, there is very little traffic noise and I wasn't disturbed at all. Had a great couple of days walking on the North Norfolk Coastal path - only a short walk to the Quay to get onto the path. I was in Wells when they had a Pirate festival and the town was full of families enjoying it all. Lots of great cafes, individual shops and pubs and easy road access to places like Cromer, Sheringham and several NT places. Highly recommend the Coastal hopper bus, the stop is only a very short walk from the Cabin. Terri was a very friendly, helpful host. I used Sat Nav and wasn't sure where the Cabin and Terri's house were. If anyone has the same problem, it's opposite the Co op and a zebra crossing is virtually outside the Cabin.

    Debbie2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin, gorgeous area, wonderful hosts! Couldn't have felt more welcomed, it's wonderful place to stay,

    Sophie2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolute gem and is perfectly located to enjoy all of the local area. It is deceptively spacious, extremely well appointed with all of the necessary items and has the added attraction of having a large Co-op 2 minutes away. The bathroom is great, the bed is excellent and if you want to chill out, the TV (with Freeview) and the comfy chairs are the perfect combination..just add wine. Would not hesitate to come again and will tell all our friends.

    Stephen2017-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a wonderful place! We found the cabin very easily and was able to park on the owner's drive. We were met with a very warm and friendly welcome. The cabin is positioned in its own garden which was perfect to sit out in the evenings. The cabin was very spacious and extremely well equipped. It seemed almost new with modern and well kept furnishings. It was spotlessly clean! We stayed here on a scorching hot weekend but the cabin stayed nice and cool. The heating system was well equipped to cope with cold weather too. The bed was so comfortable and although the cabin is next to a main road, we were not disturbed at all. There is a large co-op only 2 minutes walk away. The walk into town or the Buttlands was only around 10 minutes at a medium pace. Possibly about 12-15 minutes to the central harbour. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and really look forward to returning!

  • The cabin is fully equipped with all you'll need for a stay. Located just about a mile from the quay area but with plenty between there and the cabin. Wells is a lovely town with an amazing beach, great pubs and tasty food. All you need for a relaxing coastal break.

The Old Smithy still has the original sign over the door and was recently renovated. It now offers a light, airy comfortable cottage. Ideal for 2 to 4 guests. Located in the lovely village of Great Walsingham, there are some great amenities on the doorstep and many more close by. With the coast only 5 miles away, the cottage is a perfect relaxing base to explore this beautiful part of North Norfolk.
Inside you will find: Good size entrance hall will plenty of space for hanging coats/storing boots etc. The large welcoming living room is open plan style with one area housing the kitchen and the other the dining area. The sitting area has 2 very comfortable sofas, TV and large wood burner. Wifi, DVD,& CD player are all available. There are 3 bathrooms in the cottage (the shower room is on the ground floor). There is also a small utility room with washing machine & dryer. Both rooms are off the hall. Heading upstairs: From the hallway is the staircase leading to the two double bedrooms and two bathrooms, due to the age and nature of the building, all these rooms have restricted height in places. The first and smallest of the two bedrooms has a rather unusual - but handy - layout. There are two doors to this room each opening on either side of the bed. You each have your own dressing space with a window, so this is a lovely light room and the bed is tucked under the eaves. The bathroom is opposite. The second bedroom is a good size again with restricted height in places. There are good storage and hanging spaces provided in the fitted wardrobes. The third bathroom is off this bedroom. Both bathrooms have been newly updated & fitted with white suites. Quality linen & towels are provided. Outside and garden There is parking for 1 car outside the cottage. Although there is no garden, directly outside the front door is an area with a bench so you can sit outside. Should you wish to park on the green then there are further chairs and a table that can also be used at the front to enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the view down to the village green. Surrounding area Within 1 minutes walk you will find the Walsingham Barns where there is a cafe serving delicious food (famous for its pies). There is also a selection of galleries and shops. 1 mile away (pleasant walk via the village ford) is Walsingham, famous for its religious pilgrimages. There are a selection of good pubs and eating places as well as The Walsingham farm store and The Walsingham light railway station with links to the station at Wells. There is a stunning snowdrop walk through Walsingham Abbey (Feb to March). Wells-next-the-Sea is 5 miles away.
  • What a great find! We will definitely be back. Everything was very comfortable, of an excellent standard and very clean . Fabulous wood-burner. Perfect for a cosy night in. Thanks for the tea, milk & biscuits which were very welcome after a long drive. Lovely small village - a great base for lots of exploring. The local maps of the area were very handy, as was the very useful welcome guide. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Quiet area 5 mins walk from Quay. Beautiful beach and salt marshes. Pubs, restaurants, cafes all 5 to 10 mins walk. Ramp to level access front door. People of any ethnicity, gender and sexuality are welcome in my home. Well behaved dogs are welcome (but not on the bed or furniture please)
Your space is a large room with a private wet room/toilet next to it. The double doors of the room open into a conservatory which opens into the east facing patio area and garden. There is one step down into the conservatory. You can use these areas and share the kitchen with me.
Many lovely places to eat from Michelin starred (8 miles) to fish and chips a couple of minutes walk. I live in a quiet area of Wells so consideration for the locals please. Street parking outside my house is free.
  • This is not the Ritz but is in a good position, is clean, is very good value for money and Jan is very nice.

    Steve2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and relaxing here, and Jan is generous in sharing her home and garden and providing food that we like for us to prepare our breakfast with. If you are looking for something bland, shiny or impersonal, this is not it!

    Helen2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • An aimiable host providing a peaceful and welcoming home for us to enjoy. Plenty of space for guests. The bed was very comfortable.

    Jane2016-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jan is a fantastic host, who makes her guests feel incredibly welcome. Even though I was using her kitchen while she was in the house I never felt awkward. On the contrary I had a very relaxing stay. She went out of her way to fulfill my breakfast needs. The room is a perfect size. The shower is good and the bed is incredibly comfortable. I would definitely go back here.

    Penny2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful time with Jan. She is a fantastic host and a truly good and genuine person. She's a real pleasure to chat to and has the right balance between allowing guests privacy yet sharing her space and company. Her house is very cute and quaint and is filled with home grown fruit and veg that she grows. I loved the simplicity of the shower wet room, there's no doubting that the toilet is clean as it gets a wash every time. We didn't find it a problem at all. The bed is soooooo comfortable & looked beautiful with the quilted blanket her mum made. The furniture in the room is right up my street, old & full of character. The conservatory & garden are amazing...such a great place to sit with a morning coffee or an evening glass of plonk. We ate dinner there a few nights too. There are lots of plants and flowers & a funny gnome wearing Jan's old glasses (I assume they're (URL HIDDEN) a very relaxing place to be! The location is perfect, you can easily walk to everywhere in Wells. Thank you so much Jan! Helen, Karl & Jonty the dog x

    Helen2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Simple & private accommodation within a couple of minutes walk of the centre. Jan was a lovely host. She left us a range of breakfast items taking account of a relatively specific diet (pescetarian, no cow dairy), left a lovely little note offering fish 'n' chips and coffee recommendations with map after we had mentioned an interest, was very gracious with our dog who we left one evening while we went for dinner, and generally made us feel right at home while giving us privacy. She was also keen to hear what could be improved (we had no comments!) The room is simply furnished and fronts onto a conservatory - both are fine for chilling out in, the bed is super comfortable (firm), the wet room has a shower with body dryer (novel!) and the walk to town is short to say the least (you can be in a pub in under two minutes I'd say, or on the quay in three). A great option for a stay in Wells. Thank you Jan. Dan & Juli

    Deborah2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our short stay in Jan's home. The room is comfortable and we received a lovely welcome from Jan. The location of Jan's home is ideal; in a quiet area of town and yet just a few minutes walk from the quay and the town centre.

Carpenters Cottage is a romantic grade two listed cottage, cosy and full of original features. Downstairs there is a welcoming sitting room with a wood burning stove and a kitchen which is light and airy. From here you can walk out to the sunny patio and relax in the fully enclosed garden. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with a kingsize Loaf bed and a lovely bathroom with shower bath. The cottage is dog friendly and has the stylish Carpenters Arms pub next door. Hot tub rental available.
The cottage has a large fenced garden, great for dogs to run around in. It looks out towards fenced paddocks and to the church beyond. A herd of cows grazes here of Temples cheeses fame (certainly worth trying!) and an owl can often be seen hunting at dusk. The surrounding area is wonderful for country walks before or after a delicious meal at the Carpenters Arms. The pub also welcomes dogs and the staff are very friendly. There is a bike hire company in the village (On Yer Bike) where you can hire bikes to explore the area beyond. Wells next the Sea is a 5 minute drive away and has a very beautiful beach which was voted the best beach by the Sunday Times in 2016. The beach is huge and sandy where you can walk for miles. Pine woods and the iconic painted beach huts line the beach. There is a great cafe here where you can rest for coffee and lunch. In the summer it has Friday night barbecues. Wells has lots going on, including festivals, triathlons and the fantastic Wells carnival at the beginning of August. Holkham Hall is close by too and is an impressive stately home that is well worth a visit. It has a large lake where you can hire boats and there are lots of walks in the park, plus cafes, shops and a wonderful walled garden. Seal trips are a very popular from Morston Quay too and there is a fantastic bird reserve at Cley Marshes. There are a wonderful array of pubs and restaurants to eat in the area including Wiveton Cafe (Of 'Normal For Norfolk' fame), Morston Hall, The Anchor also at Morston, The Crown and Wells Crab House both in Wells (a few of our favourites!). An evening on the Albatross, an old Dutch barge in Wells is also fun watching the sun go down over the sea. The cottage has it's own parking space (gated) at the rear of the property. Hot tub hire is available. We use a hot tub company to deliver, fill and heat your tub which sits on the patio outside the cottage. Please note, the tub may still be heating up on your first night's accommodation as they take a while to heat up. Please enquire for prices.
Wighton is a very pretty village 3 miles south of Wells next the Sea which you can visit, with it's wonderful beach, pubs, shops and bustling harbour. Carpenters Cottage is in a lovely position in Wighton. It is next to the newly opened Carpenters Arms pub which serves locally sourced food and drinks. After a long day at the beach, it is a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy a coffee or a pint of Woodfordes Wherry. There are lots of beautiful walks and cycle tracks in the area.
  • We had a fantastic few days at Jane's place. The cottage is beautifully decorated, with a great garden and next door to a super friendly pub, which serves very good food. Wighton is a pretty village only 5 minutes by car to Wells sea front and is perfectly placed to visit other surrounding villages. We would highly recommend Jane's place to couples or families with a baby/young toddler (our daughter is almost 2), as the cottage was a great size and had everything we needed).

    Ellie2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • A retreat to the country. It is a beautiful cottage with everything you need for a peaceful and romantic getaway. It was certainly nice to be greeted with home made ginger biscuits and wine! Thanks, Alex and Bayo

  • We had a fantastic week at Carpenters Cottage which is beautiful. Jane as a host was very accommodating and we enjoyed polishing off the wine and biscuits, lovely thought. Will recommend to our friends and family. Jayne & Mia 14/08/2017

    Jayne2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jane's cottage. It was beautifully clean and in a georgeous location. We enjoyed some lovely country walks, the beach at Wells-next-the-sea was stunning and we took our dog on his first boat ride to see the seals at Morston quay. Would definitely stay again!

    Rebecca2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent small and well presented cottage. Great location and the pub next door offers good food and friendly service. All very dog friendly.

    Jancy2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Its clean, well equipped and comfortable. The location is convenient for the coast but it is peaceful and quiet. The pub next door has good food and good beer. What's not to like?

    Steve2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Carpenters Cottage is very attractive and comfortable. We were particularly impressed by the size of the garden and the fact it was enclosed so our golden retriever could run around safely. The cottage is very well located and we loved the surrounding area and village of Wighton. The powerful shower in the well appointed bathroom was very welcome after our mornings on the beach and we loved having breakfast on the patio in the August sunshine. The pub next door served good food and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming for dogs. We highly recommend this cottage.

    Penny2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was a last minute booking for us and our two dogs. Jane was extremely helpful and everything was ready for when we arrived, along with a much appreciated bottle of wine and other essentials. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped with an enclosed garden that was perfect for the dogs. The pub next door is currently closed on a Monday and Tuesday. We ate there twice during our stay and the staff are very dog friendly. The cottage is only a 10 minute drive from Wells and Holkham making the location an ideal base for venturing out, equally the peace and quiet is perfect for rest and relaxation. Thank you Jane, we shall definitely be coming back to the cottage!

Wells-next-the-Sea is one of the most attractive towns on the North Norfolk Coast. From the long sweeping beach bordered by pine woodland, along the gentle harbour with small fishing boats and children fishing for crabs, past the shops on Staithe Street with not a chain store in sight, to the tree-lined park with its fine Georgian houses, quiet pubs and restaurants - Wells is an unspoiled seaside destination, waiting to be discovered. Just off the Quay you can catch the miniature steam train that takes you the mile or so down to the beach. The beautiful sandy beach, with its pine trees, sand dunes and colourful beach huts, stretches for miles towards Holkham and was famously featured in the film Shakespeare in Love. The wide, flat beach is ideal for collecting a wide variety of shells. You can also spot oyster catchers and ringed plovers, who nest on the beach, along with some common and little terns. The area around Wells provides opportunities for sightseeing, water sports, bird watching, country walks and plenty of family fun. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has lots to offer.
  • Brilliant location! Perfect house that easily suited 8 adults and 2 kids. Close to town and restaurants. Warm, comfortable and inviting home.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Tolly House with our 2 year old daughter. The house was really well set up for families and children-including stair gates, toys, books and a high chair. The house was immaculately clean and lovely to stay in. It's really well located for Wells Beach and other local sites such as Holkham. Mandy was really friendly and helpful as well. Having been once we will definitely be back and will probably bring our friends! Thank you Mandy.

    Gail2016-06-29T00:00:00Z

  • Thoroughly recommend Tolly House. Clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Quiet location close to town. Particularly enjoyed watching the rabbits in the back garden!

  • What a lovely house! We were delighted to receive a welcome gift from our hosts and the house is fantastic. Very comfortable and roomy. We enjoyed the walk into Wells and had all we needed for an idyllic long weekend. Thanks Mandy and Tolly House!

    Marian2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice quality house. Excellent location. Very comfortable living room, kitchen etc. Good beds. Lots and lots of nice towels. Couldn't locate the microwave, which might be an issue if you have small children. I may have missed the fact that it is not a detached house when I booked it. If this matters to you, you may need to be a little cautious, since we could hear the neighbours through the wall. It wasn't loud, but enough to wake me up after I had gone to bed early. Not sure if next door was a holiday let, so could end up with very quiet or very noisy neighbours.

    Lorenz2016-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, good location. Thank you very much for sharing your home.

    Emile2016-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wells is a lovely and relaxed place. Kids loved the beach and the model train to it from the Harbour. Also, the Globe restaurant is great. As is the Crown Pub. Both on Butlands green - a short walk from Tolly House. The Co-Op supermarket is also a short and picturesque walk behind the church and footpath with, no less, Lamas in a field. Tolly House itself is the perfect base for a family holiday - very well-appointed and very comfortable. We would really recommend it.

Seawood House is a stunning, newly refurbished home with seaviews just a few minutes from the Quay and beach beyond. Seawood House sleeps 8 people comfortably in 4 bedrooms over 4 floors including a 4 poster bed and an entire top floor dedicated to another bedroom. To help you have wonderful time there is a TV room, games room, dining room and a Snug. Bucket and spade included!
  • Fabulous spacious holiday house that works really well for a larger family. Based over 4 floors, it was able to accommodate 4 generations very comfortably. We particularly liked the large dining room hall and the smaller snug/sitting room on the ground floor. We found it very clean on arrival and Melissa and Liam made us most welcome. The location is ideal for the shops and cafes of Wells. Everything is walking distance in the town. The beach is a bit of a hike (albeit a nice one) but the miniature railway is a good option, particularly as the beach car park soon fills up on a nice day. We used our car to shuttle people down to the beach, with the driver parking back in town and then cycling down to join the party. The beach cafe is owned by Holkham Hall and it is high quality and good value. Car parking is free "on street" and is first come first served. Don't get hung up on it; we were able to find a parking spot quite easily every day with a bit of planning around timings. In terms of food, the sandwich shop just down the street will take an order and deliver it fresh to the door of the house. Restaurants tend to be be busy with family early evenings, so make reservations or drive away from the coast. The Black Lion at Little Walsingham is 10 minutes away and has great food and service. We are definitely re-booking for next year.

  • Fantastic house , great location and hosts were brilliant . Would highly recommend !!

  • We very much enjoyed our stay. The house provided everything we needed. Also has an outdoor grill, as we had great weather we had a BBQ on our final night. My family and in-laws were happy with my choice. Would recommend to others.

  • Great house in a great location, close to restaurants and shops, very clean and well equipped, well presented.

  • Fantastic location, 18th century house with a scandi twist - exceeding expectations with high spec interior...think global knives and Rob Ryan prints. We were 5 adults, so had plenty of space. Nice and quiet too which made it perfect for a good nights rest after the windy beach. I will definately book again.

    India2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely location, well placed for the town and beach. Amazing views from the top floor with fantastic aeronautical displays from swifts outside the window! We were there at peak season, so parking was a little tricky on street or in nearby car parks during the day. Enjoyed the local food and drink - great butcher, baker and fishmonger on Staithe Street plus local cidermaker a minute up the road; and fantastic ice-cream shop open into the evening.

  • Seawood House is beautiful, super clean and was perfect for our family getaway. Wells-Next-The-Sea is full of friendly people with lots to do for everybody. We couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommended!

Sunny room in charming brick and flint barn conversion in private setting in the wonderful village of Stiffkey, between Blakeney and Wells-next-the-sea. Comfortable newly decorated king size double bedroom, ensuite with tea/coffee making facilities. Small fridge, just outside your room. Located near Stiffkey Salt Marshes, and quirky Stiffkey Stores (wonderful coffee croissants cakes newspapers post office) with the Red Lion Pub (cooked breakfast, lunch, dinner) 5 mins walk away. No pets!
This is a double bedroom with Kingsize double bed and brand new ensuite shower room. Chest of drawers and hanging hooks for clothes. There is a small fridge for milk and breakfast items. We offer complimentary tea, coffee, juice, bread, butter, marmalade, biscuits, cereal and milk. There are 2 chairs in the room and freeview satellite television (weather permitting). There is a cosy duvet for the chilly winter months although we are complimented on the warmth of the room. Towels are bath sheet size and we supply one bath robe. Once you confirm your booking, the address, directions, house manual and access details etc are all on this site and full details and information about your room. Please ensure you download them to find your way. Sorry we do not accept pets!
The wonderful Stiffkey village is extremely friendly, the local Red Lion pub gets reasonable reviews for pub food and walks across the saltmarshes to the beach are a delight although get very muddy in winter. We are situated between Blakeney which is worth a visit for walking, two good pubs, a restaurant and a Deli and coffee at Grey Seal Coffee, and the town of Wells-next-the sea with its glorious beach, quirky shops and eclectic mix of restaurants including The Golden Fleece and The Crab House on the sea front. You can book seal trips from Morston all year round, dine at The Anchor Inn, enjoy Sunday lunch at the amazing Wiveton Bell or treat yourself to the Michelin restaurant at Morston Hall - must book in advance. 8 miles North is the Georgian town of Holt which provides great shopping especially at Christmas. There is so much to do here it is worth planning and doing your homework in advance. Holkham and Blickling Halls are great to visit when the weather is wet.
  • The profile doesn't do this gem justice, or the lovely people that run it! Thanks so much to Sally and Alan such a great stay. The place was exactly what we needed for a weekend on the coast. The room is so well set up and equipped, and the location in Stiffkey just opens up the whole of the coast to you (car yes but also great walks right from the doorstep including the coastal path). The location right next to a really cute cafe/farm shop/independent convenience store is a big plus (great coffee and little beach huts to sit in). Plus the Red Lion pub round the corner (completely walkable) does good pub food and a great beer, again with brilliant heated outdoor seating. Super easy to come and go as you need without fear of disturbing the house as the room feels nicely separate from the main digs. We'll definitely be staying at this treasure again next time we're on the coast - it is just so ideal for a weekend away. P.s. we really appreciated Alan making us feel so welcome on arrival and giving us some points in the right direction. We also really loved the very friendly dogs. Nick & Linda

  • We had a wonderful weekend. Sally and Allan are welcoming and very helpful when it comes to local knowledge. The room was very clean and well appointed and the use of the boot room after walks on the muddy salt marshes was a boon. The light breakfast was appreciated and The Red Lion is just a 5 minute walk and provides excellent evening meals (and well earned beers).

    Drew2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Sally's on my way along the coast path. What a relaxing way to spend an evening! Communication with Sally prior to my stay was great, and I received a warm welcome. A lovely room, with a sense of privacy. Great facilities and warm hosts. Also, special thanks to Allan for suggesting a slight detour for my morning walk - the woods and the bluebells were perhaps one of my favourite parts of the week, thank you!!

    Meyres 2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend in this beautiful setting. The accommodation was really comfortable, quiet and clean, within walking distance from a stunning beach and local pub which served fresh seafood - the lobster was a great treat! Alan was a great host, and i couldnt recommend this place highly enough.

    Alice2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly recommended. Clean, recently decorated, quiet, great views in the distance, excellent location as adjacent to a nice cafe / shop and easily within walking distance to the Coastal Path (which ties in nicely with the local bus service), handy pub in the village and also (even better) in Morston - just the next village along. Nice to have a check-out time of 1100 as well. We would certainly stay here again. Nice bed linen. Really nice to have a little separate room for drying boots / toasting bread etc as well.

    Giles2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This property was perfect for us, a much needed break in a great location. The room was spotless and perfectly comfy. Lovely ensuite. The boot room where you enter and the breakfast stuff is situated keeps it separate from the bedroom. As hosts Allan and Sally we're great, good communication and check-in and out was super easy. Would visit again if we ever manage to get away without the 3 kids again!

    Elizabeth2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sally' s air bnb was a delight to stay in. It is in the lovely village of stiffkey within walking distance of the local pub with great food and the village stores which is very convenient. We had our own access to the room which was ensuite with a great shower! It had just the right amount of privacy and access to things we needed. Really recommend going on a seal cruise from Morston Quay! Thanks for a great stay Sally!

    Jennifer2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We love the North Norfolk Coast, and what a fantastic place to stay for a short break. Very comfortable and clean, and only 10 minutes walk from the coastal path.

  • The Studio was an absolutely perfect place to stay. It was so comfortable, and it was really well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Heather provided us with a lovely selection of food and essentials - including a bottle of wine! The position was great, just a short walk to the Anchor Pub which was lovely and we had a great meal there. Just a short walk to the quay, and after our 8 mile walk to Wells the Coasthopper bus was a welcome sight taking us back to Morston. We will definitely be going back and would recommend it highly. Thank you Heather

    Christine2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect small space for a lovely break. Heather was very organised and communicated every detail needed. Morston itself is lovely, great pub for food & you can book Seal trips from there too. Ideal base to explore North Norfolk from by whatever mode of transport.

  • This apartment is absolutely lovely, very quaint and cosy, and beautifully decorated. We felt very at home! It was fully equipped with everything we needed and more! A bottle of wine was left in the fridge for us, and plenty of breakfast supplies including homemade jam, and eggs fresh from the farm! The setting is beautiful, rural and quiet, and there is plenty of parking. The apartment was a little bit smaller than we expected from the pictures, but it didn't matter at all as we had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The pool is well worth a visit, it's a great facility to have access to. There is a nice pub just around the corner, and you can walk to Morston quay really easily too. We found the location was great for exploring all of the coastal villages. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get to know North Norfolk!

    Izzie2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay in Heather's studio. It is perfectly located for walking around the coast - in both directions and there are plenty of places to eat in the vicinity. The accommodation is beautifully furnished, with a very comfortable bed. We both enjoyed breakfast, with fresh eggs and good coffee etc and we had all the amenities for a great short break.

  • Superb location, cosy and comfy accommodation which was well equipped. Great to be self contained. Heather and her family made us feel very welcome. We made good use of the local pub, The Anchor, which serves very good food. Very easy access to The Norfolk Coastal Path - we had a fabulous walk to Salthouse and the Coastal Hopper bus brought us back to Morston. Would definitely stay with Heather again.

  • It's a lovely apartment in a fantastic location and with it's own parking so close to the quay made for an ideal place to explore Wells and the surrounding area. Zoe was great at communicating and her tips and recommendations wonderful. We ate at the Crab House just across the road which we can highly recommend. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had everything you could want. We loved the extra touches such as the wine and rocky road. We hope to be back next year if not before.

  • We have just returned from a wonderful long weekend at Paula's cottage. It's just as described and we found the place to be very cosy, comfortable and clean. It's toddler friendly and felt pretty spacious for the three of us. Paula was very helpful in the lead up to our stay and every enquiry was dealt with swiftly and thoughtfully. The cottage's location is absolutely perfect with so many attractions nearby and it felt like a real treat to have a fishmonger's, bakery, butchers independent wine merchant's and greengrocer within just a couple of minutes walk. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at The Golden Fleece and are looking forward to returning when the weather is warmer. Thanks again Paula for a lovely stay.

  • Loverly cottage in a great location. Well managed, clean and with all mod-cons.

    Andrew2015-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We found the cottage easily following Paula's detailed instructions and had no problems with getting the keys etc. Hayloft is a well proportioned cottage - more than ample space for 4 to wine, dine, and relax. The bathroom in particular was to a very high standard. I wouldn't hesitate to book again - Wells is every bit as lovely as I remember and the North Norfolk coast is a gem waiting to be explored - forget the South-West for your getaway from the city - this is where it's at.

    Ben2015-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Hayloft Cottage is brilliant for a stay in Wells and North Norfolk generally. The property is spotless, comfortable and very cosy. Everything you need is here. Paula even left us some tea and coffee and fresh milk. Makes all the difference. The cottage is literally a two minute walk to the quay, and is very central to all the shops, restaurants and general amenities. It is however beautifully quiet too. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended!

A traditional 2 bed flint cottage in a beautiful quiet & peaceful location. The pretty courtyard garden is secure. Nearby is the Wells/Walsingham Light Railway. Little Walsingham is within walking distance, where the shrines & abbey are located. There is also a farm shop, good fish and chip shop/restaurant, pubs & tearooms. Wells-next-the-Sea is 10 minute drive & the stunning Holkham Beach is nearby. An ideal spot for exploring North Norfolk!
There is a well-equipped kitchen, a shower room, cosy front-room and utility room. The property has electric storage heaters downstairs and instant electric heaters in the bedrooms and in the living room, so can be used year round. Parking is on the village green, just a couple of seconds walk. You can park outside the cottage to load and unload however, as the road is very quiet. Character features include a brick fireplace, an old water pump outside and Victorian stove (unused!). The lovely courtyard garden is secure and comes complete with an old apple tree. Bikes can be stored in a secure shed. Bedding and towels are provided, and there is Wifi. For children, there is a high chair, travel cot, toys and buckets/spades. The stairs are steep, so we ask parents to be mindful of this. Children will love the steam-powered Wells to Walsingham Light Railway and the amazing Wild Rootz and Hootz House playgrounds at nearby Pensthorpe Nature Reserve. Holkham Hall also host some great activities for children, and of course there are two stunning beaches (Wells and Holkham) close by. A short stroll through the peaceful village and across a ford will lead to Great Walsingham Barns (art centre and tearoom). On the way, you can see historic Berry Hall, where Henry VIII is said to have first met Anne Boleyn. Little Walsingham is within walking distance, where the shrines and abbey are located. There is also a farm shop, very good fish and chip shop/restaurant, pubs and tearooms. Several supermarkets are nearby and two will deliver groceries if necessary. Further afield, Wells-next-the-Sea is 10 minutes drive away (traditional seaside town complete with rainbow beach huts!) and Holkham Beach is a few minutes further on. This stunning beach has pine forests, sand dunes and is popular with bird watchers. There are many more family attractions within driving distance (search for North Norfolk tourism online). Poppy Cottage is a lovely place for a break from the fast pace of life as it's so peaceful, but conveniently located.
North Norfolk is a beautiful quiet part of England. There are many attractions for days out and plenty of beautiful beaches. Walking and cycling is very popular too due to the abundance of quiet country lanes and nature reserves. Walsingham itself is very peaceful and an ideal base for exploring further afield if you wish.

There are two grass tennis courts, a great pub which also sells household essentials and a brand new village hall. There is a very pretty stream which runs the length of the village where lots of ducks and ducklings take residence and sometimes visit the garden!
  • Lovely cottage in small village - with short walk to village pub. Location was great for getting around north Norfolk ( by car). Accommodation was clean and well equipped with good bedding and towels. Whole family enjoyed the stay (although 6ft son found the head height in the shower challenging). Would heartily recommend this cottage to others - although not if you would have difficulty with steep, tight stairs.

  • The description of the property was entirely accurate as were the photos. It was a lovely little cottage in a great area which was perfect for our nearby wedding. We had one slight blip with the key which I understand was not Lucy's fault but we spoke to her and it was resolved very quickly. The kitchen and living area were great and have everything to allow you to cook and enjoy the evening. We also benefitted from the nice garden as the weather was good which was a bonus. I would highly recommend the cottage for an enjoyable quaint stay in Norfolk.

  • A BIG thank you Lucy for an amazing stay. Your house is exactly as you describe it and equipped with everything you could ever wish for. Parking is very close and the location could not be better, in a lovely village setting. Worth every penny and it would be difficult to find such a lovely house anywhere. A true home from home. Great beds, great bathroom, and a great experience. Thank you. We will book again when we are in the area.

  • This is a charming cottage, tastefully decorated, located in a quite pretty village. There was plenty of space for us, a family of four. The cottage is well appointed with good quality linens and towels. We ate at the village pub, The Plume of Feathers which is a short walk from the cottage. The kids loved the village playground and playing pooh sticks on the bridge.

Simple seaside cottage with private courtyard in the middle of quaint pedestrianised shopping street
This little cottage is behind our shop, Normal for Norfolk, on the main shopping street of Wells-nex-the-Sea, Staithe Street. Access is via an alleyway to the side of the shop where a door opens into the courtyard garden. On the ground floor is a simple well-equipped kitchen and a living room with 1 large sofa, a double sofa bed, dinning table and chairs. The stairs are quite small and steep but there's a rope bannister to hang on to. Upstairs there's a Queen sized bedroom looking over the courtyard and a double bedroom facing the street. The third bedroom has a large old fashioned single bed and built in bunk bed. The bathroom faces the back and has toilet, sink, and bath with hand held shower.

East Barsham is a quaint quiet village, just a few miles away from the stunning North Norfolk coastline and a few minutes outside the town of Fakenham. It is well situated to explore many of the beautiful beaches, various attractions and great for walkers, bird-watchers, golfers and sailors. The perfect gateway to the North Norfolk coast.
  • Lovely cottage in a quiet village. The location offers you the choice of either beaches or countryside. Jon and his staff and very welcoming and the treats left for us were completely unexpected but much appreciated. The Barsham Arms right next door had a wonderful menu selection and the food was delicious. All in all a fabulous place to stay and I will definelty be going back.

  • We had a lovely stay in Fallabella. We hired bikes and cycled around the area; beautiful scenery. Local amenities not too far away, and eating in the Pub was a real treat. Well-equipped cottage. Great area, gorgeous beaches 5 miles distant, secluded and quiet. Perfect. Thank you!

  • A comfy base to explore the North Norfolk Coast. Handily attached to a nice pub. Lovely hosts next door if any problems.

  • Great location to explore Norfolk. Next to a lovely pub which is really convenient. Comfortable stay and appreciated the bacon eggs bread milk and pastries provided on arrival. The nearest supermarket is only 5 minutes away by car for anything else you may need. Wifi intermittent but expected for the area. The cottage has lots of character but can be a little dark and damp at times - no more than a normal cottage though so not a huge problem. Thanks for a nice stay, Jess, Ryan and Rupert the dog x
