Homes & Vacation Rentals in Ventenac-en-Minervois

Ventenac-en-Minervois Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Ventenac-en-Minervois

Guest House located in the Village of Mailhac, near Narbonne. Open all year, no minimum stay, can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests. Children are welcome. Per night .... 60 Euro for a single person, 70 Euro for two in a room, 85 Euro for three in a room. Breakfast included. Discounts available depending upon nights and rooms required.
L'Ancienne Vigneronne is a 200 year old former wine growers house which has been fully renovated. It is situated in the Minervois region of the Languedoc (now known as Occitanie), a beautiful rural setting. WIFI is available (free). During the winter we have central heating and a wood burning fire. The four spacious bedrooms consist of two family rooms (double & single beds and 3 single beds) and 2 double rooms (double beds) and vary in size from 15-24 sq meters. All have their their own bathrooms of 6 sq meters. There are no cooking facilities available but complimentary tea/coffee is available on request. There are good restaurants within 15 minutes drive which we use ourselves and are happy to recommend. Alternatively eat with us. We cook evening meals to order catering for all tastes with freshly bought produce, local wine and coffee included. A typical menu is 3 courses with wine and coffee included is 22.50 Euro per adult, and 10 Euro for under 10's. A lighter 'menu terroir' with cold meats, cheese and seasonal fruit can also be provided. Mailhac has a bar, village shop, post office, school, swimming pool and a number of wine producers where wine can be tasted. The countryside is quiet, but we are not too far from historic cities, beaches, mountains and rivers. The region is great for walking, bird watching, cycling (really nice road and off-road bikes can be hired locally), fishing, paragliding, golf and more! We keep a selection of tourist guides, maps and information about the region and enjoy sharing our local knowledge. The Canal du Midi passes through the region and guided boat trips are an option. There is safe bathing and a cafe just 15 minutes drive to the Lac du Jouarre near Olonzac, and the Mediteranean is 45 minutes drive to Gruissan. Tuesdays mornings in Olonzac is a must if you want to experience a typical French market, as well as an opportunity sit, drink a beer or coffee and watch the world go by. The nearest city of Narbonne (30 minutes drive) has a pleasant Mediteranean feel when strolling about its quiet streets. The Canal de Robine flows quietly through the city centre, there is Roman archeology available to investigate and it offers a wider range of shops than you can find in small villages and towns. The fortress city at Carcassonne is a World Heritage site and was used by Walt Disney as the model for his castle. Each July there's a large arts festival with top names appearing, and not forgetting a huge (free) firework display on July 14th ... Bastille Day. Further afield are Montpellier and Perpignan (each about an hours drive) both pleasant cities to visit, the Pyrenees can be reached in 2 hours whilst into Spain it's a 2 hour drive to Gerona and 3 to Barcelona.
Mailhac is a small rural village, with a medieval centre, in a large wine growing area. There is easy and immediate access to the countryside for walking, cycling, bird watching etc. The village has an epecerie and bar, and there are a number of good restaurants within a short drive which we can recommend.
  • I couldn't have wished for a warmer welcome from Caroline and Trevor. I arrived exhausted and in pain, but was quickly soothed by a lovely hot shower and a glass of cold rosé. Dinner was delicious and served in their charming garden, as was breakfast with Caroline's home made jams. Everything was spotless and tasteful. A delightful venue and terrific hosts. I thoroughly recommend a stay, and hope to return myself for a longer visit(URL HIDDEN)

  • L'Ancienne Vigneronne is wonderful. We found it by accident and we are so glad that we did. Trevor and Caroline are brilliant hosts, they're really welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We had a lovely dinner with them on our first night. The room was beautiful with comfiest bed we've ever slept in. Breakfast was delicious - especially the homemade lemon curd. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night. If you're looking for a place near Carcassonne or the Canal du Midi you should stay here.

  • We travelled down on the (URL HIDDEN) and were cycling around the Languedoc area. Caroline and Trevor's local knowledge was useful with route planning. We were well provided for, enjoyed the pool and had a good night's sleep. Thank you.

  • I have recently returned from 5 nights in Mailhac with my 12 year old Son. Trevor and Caroline's place is ideally situated for those who would like a nice quiet break away with idyllic surroundings, but also central to a good number of attractions. They are exceptional hosts and their home is warm and friendly. They are very helpful and they helped us to book some local excursions as they are both fluent in French. I would certainly recommend a stay with them in Mailhac for those who wish to relax and explore all the region has to offer.

  • We had a very pleasant stay at L' ancienne vigneron . Altough we arrived fairly late in the evening, Trevor was waiting for us and was very helpfull .After unpacking and putting the kids to bed, we enjoyed a drink in the garden . The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and lovely decorated. The breakfast the next morning was super with home-made marmelade and fresh fruit. We would recommend this B&B certainly . Thank you Trevor and Caroline for having us. Raf and Sofie

  • Great hospitality and excellent food made by the host. I can truly recommend this place.

    Johan2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Trevor and Caroline are very nice and flexible hosts. The b&b is located in a beautiful village. The rooms are lovely and they serve a nice breakfast in the garden.

  • A lovely place to stay that was very welcome after a hard day cycling. Trevor and Caroline's beautiful house is spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. Our two kind hosts fed us well on some lovely homemade food and sent us off on our journey much refreshed. Thank you!

Location:  The Pink House is located in a quiet area of Paraza, a stones throw from the Canal du Midi and close to all amenities.   It was originally part of an older winemaking building and was converted into a house around 20 years ago.   The house is comfortably furnished and suitable for year round use.  Double glazing, wood burning stove and good electric heaters mean that whatever the season, the Pink House will make a perfect base for your holiday!
Ground floor: The front door opens to a hall with a utility room attached.  Here you will find the washing machine, ironing board, tennis racquets etc.  There is a stone staircase leading to the first floor.  (Set into the staircase you will find a safe for your use). First Floor:  On the large landing is a seating area with a comfortable sofa and doors leading to the bedrooms and bathroom.  Also from the landing is the next flight of stairs leading up to the living room. Living Room:  This comfortable open plan room has a sitting area, dining area and a fitted kitchen with all the usual appliances including a dishwasher.  The roof has huge exposed beams and emparts a very cosy feel.  There is a  CD player, radio, TV and a DVD player (with a selection of disks).  The property has wifi and also a number of board games for those less digital moments!  For cooler periods of the year, the house has electric wall heaters, and a woodburning stove.  From the living room, two sets of double glass doors open out onto the terrace. The Terrace:  This has views of the canal and over acres of vines to the Corbières hills in the distance.  The new outdoor table and chairs is perfect for dining alfresco and there are loungers for the sun worshippers.  In the attached storeroom you will find extra chairs and a barbecue. Bedroom 1:  This large room with cool floor tiles has a king size bed and plenty of wardrobe space and two chests of drawers.  You will find a selection of books on the shelves. Bedroom 1:  This room has two single beds (which can be combined to make a double).  This room also has a wardrobe and drawers. Bathroom:  Double sinks are a feature of this room which also has a shower and wc. Paraza is a canal town, built on the prosperity of trade and wine, set on a hill that overlooks the Aude Valley, with views of the Pyrenees to the south one can see the Pyrenees . The town sits alongside the Canal du Midi, an architectural and engineering achievement built in the 18th Century to link the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, now busy with tourist boats and barges. Near the center of the village, dominating the brow of the hill is the Chateau de Paraza, once the home of Paul Riquet - the man who created the Canal du Midi. The Chateau's vineyards surround the upper land, and climb to a hill a little outside the village, that once was a pre-christian burial site, as well as being later a part of the Abbaye de Fontfoide's lands.  The chateau is privately owned, but the enormous winemaking cave is open everyday for winetasting and purchases. Just before the chateau on main road that winds through the village is the village church, which inside is colorfully decorated by baroque figures of saints.  This is a very interesting church, well worth a visit.  We live opposite the church and hold the visitors key, so please ask us and we will show you around! There is a good restaurant in the village, The Cafe du Port, on the bank of the canal.  A little further along, past the cafe is an art gallery.  Paraza has a village grocery shop open daily and there are numerous vans visiting the village each week selling fish, meat, vegetables....... and occasionally a shoe van!  A recent addition is a clothes boutique specializing in vintage wear. For those of a more sporting nature, there are two hire centres in the village, one offering bikes and the other providing tours on quadbikes.  A tennis court is freely available, racquets and balls can be found in the gite.  Boules is a great tradition in these parts and the village boulodrome is between the tennis courts and the children's play area.  Friday night is competition night and all are welcome to participate.  All necessary equipment is kept in the ground floor store room. Paraza is in the Minervois region of Languedoc, alongside the canal du midi and roughly half way between Carcassonne (50km) and Beziers (45km). Our closest city is the Roman city of Narbonne, less than half an hour drive away. There is a good selection of beaches within an hour drive and the Pyrennees are only a couple of hours drive away and are visible from the village. Located between the slopes of the Montaigne Noire and the Corbiere hills, the village is a perfect base for exploring this wonderful corner of the Mediterranean.
  • Perfect place for a low price. A house is very beautiful, cozy, equiped with everything you need. And it's located in a small beautiful french village. I definitely recommend !

  • Large, well equipped property with fantastic, private sun terrace, perfect place to relax after a day's walking or cycling or just watch the boats on the canal. Brilliant base from which to explore the local area by foot, car or bike. Phil's communication was good and he was informative about the local area.

    Rachel2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is certainly one of the best Airbnb places we have ever stayed at The house itself was exceptional and the area aroundabouts was great for walking and relaxing We will plan to return another time.

  • After travelling Europe for a month, we wanted a space where we could relax in our last few days. Phil's place was perfect for this. Spacious and a great feel to it. Attention to detail in the amenities. We loved the patio and it's view. Quiet, small village but a close drive to anything you need. Phil was an excellent host and was very available in case we needed anything. We would certainly come back again.

  • Once you have stayed at Jeanne's it is obvious to see why she is an Airbnb superhost. Jeanne is kind and generous and looked after us superbly. The experience was far more than the use of a private room in a house and after being on the road for many days it was more like being welcomed into a warm and friendly home...... ....and thanks for the jam - it is still delicious :-)

  • Staying at Jeannes is a special experience. She is an extremely kind, hospitable host. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. It is right beside the Canal de Midi and paraza itself, while sleepier than some other villages, is beautiful with a chateau. Highly recommended and great value.

Merci

La Tour du Chateau, on land once owned by Julius Caesar, is a full-service, luxury property that has five ensuite bedrooms, hosting up to 12 guests. Our village (population ~500) is located in the Occitanie region in the REAL south of France! We are on the famous Canal du Midi with gorgeous views of the Canal, vineyards, and the Pyrenees. We offer specially designed holidays that include accommodations transportation, gourmet meals, fine local wines, and unique and authentic French excursions.
This cozy first-floor bedroom is called "Cabardes" in honor of the Occitanie wine appellation. The room has a newly installed private bathroom (with a handcrafted ceramic and mosaic stone tiled shower, towel warmer, artisan sink and faucet, and toilet.) The room offers a king-sized bed with a new plush American mattress and luxury linens. It also has a ceiling fan that captures the evening breeze for comfortable sleeping. Right outside of this room is a spacious sitting area where guests can enjoy free coffee, tea and water. Guests also receive a complementary bottle of wine from Cabardes. Both breakfast and a tasting at the next door wine cave are included in the rate.
While French destinations like Paris, Bordeaux and Provence are well known to most travelers, we believe (actually, we know for a fact!) that some of the best authentic French adventures are found in the Languedoc region. We are proud to offer unique experiences that showcase the charm of the south of France: •The breathtaking coastline lined with beautiful seaside resorts. La Tour du Chateau is located just 30 minutes away from the Mediterranean Sea. •The phenomenal history. The region contains the historic cities of Carcassonne, Toulouse and Montpellier with countless Roman monuments, medieval abbeys, Romanesque churches and old castles. One of the most famous are the ruined Cathar castles in the mountains of Corbières – one of many locations where the 20-year Albigensian Crusade was fought. •The Canal du Midi, the world’s oldest major canal, was opened in 1681 to link the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean. It is also an UNESCO World Heritage site. (La Tour du Chateau is located on the banks of the Midi). •Of course, the wine! Languedoc produces more than a third of the grapes in France and is home to several up-and-coming vineyards being recognized by some of the world’s most discerning wine critics! •The Camargue where wild horses roam and France’s world renowned fleur de sel (exquisite salt) is harvested! And much more! La Tour du Chateau is 3 hours from the Barcelona airport. We are 8 hours from Paris by car, ~5 hours by train. Carcassonne is the closest airport (Ryan Air) (45 mins from the house). Montpellier is also an option via EasyJet or Air France (1.5 hours from the house). Toulouse is also viable via EasyJet or Air France (~2 hours from the house).

  • We stayed at Julia's chateau for 3 nights as part of a business trip. It was exactly as described and pictured and the views in the morning were superb! It fully accommodated all of our needs, it's only a shame that we couldn't stay for longer.

    Alexandra2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the chateau. I would go back in a heartbeat. The terrace view out over the fields of growing wine was unforgettable, and a perfect place to eat all meals. Such a special house and I hope to return! The owner, Julia, was so very helpful and very easy to work with. Strongly recommend staying here!

    Alice2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place! We had a wonderful stay at Chateau Ventenac. Julia's arrival details and suggestions for our stay were excellent. The weather was very kind to us and we had a very relaxing time just enjoying this delightful village set right on the Canal du Midi. The pool was a great hit with the children and we grown-up's enjoyed sitting on the terrace with a glass of local wine - the views are to die for, down across the Canal du Midi all the way to the Pyrenees. The house is very large with spacious bedrooms (particularly on the first floor) and have breathtaking views. The beds are large and comfortable. The kitchen is really well equipped - we were a small group but I imagine it would be brilliant for large parties ( 2 dishwashers!!). The cool sitting room was welcome in the middle of the day - the children could sit in the cool and watch DVDs. The terrace outside this sitting room is just fabulous ... shady and cool and those lovely views. We were very sorry that our stay was so short, as there seems to be so much to explore in this area. We will be back with a larger group very soon! Thanks Julia for sharing your lovely home and being so helpful.

  • The castle is great for family or friends gathering, quiet, nice view over the Canal du midi and the countryside around. The kitchen is well equiped to cook and clean for numerous guests. Rooms are simple, clean with comfortable bed. Check in/out is easy and it was cery nice to find a special welcome treat from Julia. Very welcoming ! Many commodities in the villages around. Great place to unwind in a charming castle !

  • Château Ventenac is a big beautiful house to spend a holiday with friends. It is very well equipped : barbecues, some games / sports gear, amazing terrace tables in the shade with a great view, a nice pool (lots of stairs to get to it though, lazy people beware) All parts of the house were meticulously clean, big comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen. Julia answered our request very quickly, she gave us all the details about the house and made us feel very welcome. The description and photos of the house are very accurate. I fully recommend staying there.

    Laure2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful short break at Chateau Ventenac. The weather was chilly at night but the house was warm and there was plenty of wood for the open fire in the cosy and comfortable sitting room. By day the sun shone and we were able to sit outside in the winter sunshine on the beautiful terrace with such spectacular views over the canal with the snow capped Pyrenees in the distance. Lunch was great at the restaurant almost next door. To work off the lunches we took walks along the Canal du Midi and around the very picturesque village of Ventenac- so charming! The house is designed to cater for bigger groups but the two of us felt very comfortable with the parts of the house that we used. It has been renovated very thoughtfully to reflect it's grand past but also to feel like a comfortable family home. The kitchen is large and very well equipped, the two salons are warm and inviting, the bed was really comfortable. Also, we were very happy to discover that there was fully functional WiFi internet that allowed us to stream Netflix movies etc! We really enjoyed our little holiday and plan to return with a bigger group later in the year.

    Sharon2017-01-20T00:00:00Z

Welcome to Three Trees! Whether you want beaches, mountain hiking, a hammock under an olive tree or a quiet corner with a book and a glass of local wine, you'll find them all within easy reach of our house. Situated in a beautiful Minervois village with all amenities, we're sure you'll find exactly the holiday you're looking for here.
Les Trois Arbres is a large family home set over three floors with space for 12 guests. It comes with a spacious, secluded courtyard, covered outdoor dining spaces and a swimming pool. The pool is roughly 3.5m x 6m. There is also an unconverted barn with a table tennis table. Please note that the pool is not maintained outside of the warmer months.
Ginestas is a very friendly village, blessed with a great café (Les 3 Petits Cochons) and a fine wine bar (L'Oncle Jules), both of which we recommend very highly. We also have the village shop/bakery, post office and tabac. All are just a few minutes' walk from the house. Food and drink establishments Café: Les Trois Petits Cochons (1 Place du Marché-centre of the Village, opposite the Tabac). Everything you’d expect from a French café and very friendly. Lunch is served 6 days a week but not dinner. Bar: L’Oncle Jules (Grande Rue). Lively wine bar open Thursday/Friday/Saturday evenings only. Serves good local wines, craft beers and food. Look out for the Soirées Musicales, when reserving a table is recommended. Various fast food vans pass through the village some weekday evenings and can be found on Avenue de la Promenade. Amenities & Services Post Office is on Chemin de la Garde. Bank (Crédit Agricole) with ATM is on Avenue de la Promenade, opposite the Mairie. Mairie is on Avenue de la Promenade, opposite the bank. Very good on local events and information but no English spoken. Boulangerie with convenience store is on Rue D’Occitanie. Tabac is on Place du Marché. Does some English language newspapers, also sells lottery tickets and cigarettes. Cigarettes can’t be bought other than in tabacs. Chemist (Pharmacie Sirven) is on Avenue de la Ginesto. Note that in France you cannot buy non-prescription drugs, even simple painkillers other than in the pharmacies. Church (St. Luc) is behind the Trois Petits Cochons, you can’t miss it! Enthusiastic Sunday morning services. Doctor (Dr. Philippe Cauquil) is at 1 Chemin de L’Horte. Horse-Riding (Centre Equestre Poney Club de Ginestas) is at the bottom of Chemin de L’Horte, or call 0620253817. Tennis court and boulodrome are about halfway down Chemin de L’Horte on the right. French opening hours apply so remember that most shops and services will be closed at lunchtime (usually between 12 noon- 2pm but check individual businesses) and often on Mondays. Everything is within easy strolling distance of the house. The surgery has particularly restricted hours so if he is not open, try the Medical Centre in Bize-Minervois. Eating Out Near Ginestas In addition to the restaurants in the village itself, there are many options for a memorable meal out in the area. We’re sure you’ll find something you enjoy but our favourites include: Chez Bebelle situated in Les Halles, Narbonne (06 85 40 09 01) for simple but delicious grilled dishes (big on horse) and the added entertainment of the owner catching the packages of fresh meat from the neighbouring market stalls. La Cave in La Caunette (04 68 91 31 98), traditional regional cuisine in a pretty village. La Cambuse du Saunier in Gruissan (04 84 25 13 24) for super-fresh seafood in a beautiful setting on the edge of a saltern. The canalside village of Le Somail and the riverside village of Bize-Minervois have plenty of eating and drinking options a short drive away. Amenities around Ginestas Supermarkets. The nearest is Intermarché at St. Marcel-Sur-Aude, on the main road (D607) towards Narbonne. There is also an Aldi a little further down the same road towards Narbonne. Cheaper and fresher fruit and vegetables can be bought in the roadside warehouses on the right just before the bridge over the canal on the road into St Marcel. Narbonne is a short drive away and has several large supermarkets (Carrefour, Leclerc, Aldi, Lidl, Grand Frais to name a few) and a wonderful indoor food market, Les Halles which is well-signposted upon entering Narbonne and open every day until lunchtime, although many stalls are not open on a Monday. Petrol Station. The nearest is Intermarché at St. Marcel-sur-Aude. Note that not all French petrol stations, especially at supermarkets, accept non-French bank cards. Of those that don’t, some aren’t permanently manned so paying with cash is not always an alternative. The Intermarché station in La Redorte is a good example of an irregularly manned, local card only petrol station. Nearest Outdoor Markets. Ginestas actually has a tiny market (3 or 4 stalls) every Thursday morning but for a larger and more traditional experience, try the markets at Lezignan-Corbières on a Wednesday morning or Olonzac on a Tuesday morning. Nearest Hospitals. Centre Hospitalier de Narbonne, Boulevard Docteur Lacroix, Narbonne or Centre Hospitalier de Lézignan-Corbières, Boulevard Pasteur, Lézignan-Corbières.   Things to Do and Places to See Near Ginestas There really is something for everyone in the Languedoc region. Whether you’re a lover of the outdoors, food, drink, history or beaches, you’ll find something to entertain you in our beautiful corner of France. Wine Tasting. There are myriad options for wine tasting in the area which encompasses Minervois, La Clape and Corbieres wines, amongst others. You will certainly come across wineries on your travels but some of our favourites nearby include: Le Domaine du Somail on the D607 towards St Marcel (between the canal bridge and the roundabout); Chateau Pique-Perlou at 12 Rue des Ecoles, Roubia; Le Chateau de Ventenac Minervois on the canal at Ventenac; and Le Chateau de Paraza, well signposted in the village of Paraza. Anywhere with a Dégustation sign outside is worth a try though; if no one appears to be around, just wander into the nearest likely looking building and shout. Nearest Shopping. Narbonne and Carcassonne have various independent shops and boutiques. The Polygone centre at Béziers has a variety of chain stores including the third biggest branch of Zara in France. Fact. For a major shopping expedition, you’ll need to venture further afield to Perpignan, Montpellier or Toulouse. Nearest Cinema. Cinéma Mega CGR Narbonne, Zone Industrielle Croix Sud, Route de Perpignan, Narbonne. Most films shown there will be dubbed into French. For films in English, known as «version originale» or «VO», it is best to check a website such as AngloInfo for the region of Languedoc-Roussillon which has weekly listings of English films in the area. Bike Hire. The Canal du Midi offers relaxing bike rides on the towpath and the surrounding area is popular with road cyclists. The nearest place to hire bikes is Melo Velo at 3 Place de L’Eglise, Paraza. Tel 04 68 43 38 21. English spoken. If you bring your own bikes, there are some great off road cycling opportunities in the Pech hills just before Bize. Just follow the VTT signs wherever you see them. Walking. There are lots of opportunities for walking at every level, from a gentle stroll along the Canal du Midi towpath (most easily accessed from Le Somail or by following Chemin de la Garde past the post office in Ginestas for about a mile) to a vigorous hike up Mont Caroux in the Haut-Languedoc National Park or even ascending Le Canigou, the closest Pyrenean peak. Walking maps for the region, the blue Carte de Randonée, can be purchased in most big Tabacs or bookshops and are a good starting point. Boating. Canal boating is naturally very popular in this part of France. A number of operators hire canal boats out for full-length holidays from Le Somail and Argeliers. You can also hire electric boats for an hour or two from Le Somail as well as cabin cruisers for an afternoon or day on the canal. La Barque du Somail, a beautiful wooden boat, offers short, guided trips on the Canal du Midi from Le Somail at 6 rue Paul Riquet. Tel 04 68 48 44 23. Beaches. The Mediterranean coast is easily accessible from Ginestas. The closest beaches are at Narbonne-Plage and Gruissan (where the film Betty Blue was set and filmed). Gruissan Plage is popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers. Further afield, La Franqui and Leucate are both popular and attractive. There are some “wild beaches”, so-called “Plages Sauvages” which do not have life-guards but most beaches have life-guards in high season so are child-friendly. River swimming. You can swim in the river at the nearby villages of Bize-Minervois and Mirepeisset (which has a lifeguard in high season). Lake swimming. The Lac de Jouarres, Route de Lac, Azille is a popular, local swimming lake complete with lifeguard and café. Vide-greniers. Most Sunday mornings throughout the summer will see at least one, if not more, “vide-greniers”, equivalent to a car-boot sale or flea market, in one of the local villages. They are usually advertised and sign-posted on the main roads in the area but you can also check where your nearest one is on www.vide-greniers.org. General Sight-seeing. The Canal du Midi is a big tourist attraction in the area and within very easy striking distance of Ginestas. The biggest nearby town is Narbonne where the Canal du Midi and Canal de la Robine meet and has a pretty town centre. Carcassonne, with its medieval walled cité, is less than an hour away and well worth a visit. Further afield you can visit Cathar castles, the Pyrenees, the cities of Perpignan, Montpellier and Toulouse and even cross the border into Spain.
  • Our week was treasured time with our extended family from Australia, U.K. and Iceland. The house was perfect for our family reunion. Everyone felt comfortable and at home. The garden is such a special space and when the weather was not too windy we were able to enjoy time with everyone outdoors together around the pool. The barn was added fun with a ping pong table (we also added a dartboard bought from the Intermarché, for a traditional games night, which was an hilarious evening). We left the dart board as our contribution to any future similar family events. Thanks for a wonderful stay. You are very generous hosts. Highly recommended for a quiet village style holiday in Le Midi. We can't wait to return.

  • This is a really beautiful old house and Antonia and Jonathan have created a space that is very easy to relax in. The house is large and easily accommodates 10. It feels lived-in but spacious. The kitchen is really well-equipped. The pool is a decent size and perfect for kids to splash around in. The barn is a shady retreat, with a table tennis table. There is a good bakery in town selling a variety of breads and pastries. It's a wonderful location for cycling, mountain biking, swimming, walking and lots more outdoor/water activities. All instructions and information were clear and helpful. When we needed to make contact it was easy to get hold of somebody. We would thoroughly recommend this place.

  • Great place with loads of space. Courtyard is very private and beautiful, ideal for relaxing. House is very well equipped and stocked, you can tell it is a family home and not just a holiday rental. Ginestas is a friendly place, L'oncle Jules wine bar is excellent and highly recommended. Lots to see and do in the nearby villages and towns, hire car definitely required for this.

  • This is a stunning, fully equipped, spacious, clean family house in a beautiful region of South West France. Definitely worth a visit. I would highly recommend this house.

    sarah2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful property! The home is set up so you can unpack and start to relax. From the amazing kitchen to the bedrooms, the house is spacious and uncluttered. A tip: make sure you plan for some down time to enjoy this property including the pool, the games room (the barn) and the very charming village. Thank you so much for sharing your home Antonia and Jonathan! A special mention; the house manual is very informative as well as entertaining!

    Starr2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Above all else Antonia and Jonathan's house is a lovely 'home', and that's what made saying there so special. You feel like you are really living in the village for your time there. Large, comfortable and still retaining many original features this is a lovely place to stay and relax. Cool rooms, great kitchen and fantastic courtyard space with pool. We could not imagine anyone who really wants to experience a little bit of real France not enjoying themselves here. Communication throughout was excellent and there was a very generous welcome pack of wine, cheese, beer and bread. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Built in 1860, this is a totally restored stone house full or original features and atmosphere, and furnished in the luxury French style, but with all modern needs such as new central heating, kitchens, bathrooms and large heated swimming pool. Full wifi. 2 English TV!s. Huge rooms . Restaurant/café/shop/bar all within walking distance. One of five places I have listed. Over 800 guests a year now stay at my five holiday homes run by me. The average rating of over 250 online reviews is 4.85.
The house is huge, with high ceilings, enormous bedrooms, and space to spread yourself. The private pool is also large, with a big sun area, outdoor dining terrace, with garden furniture and Barb-b-q
Ginestas is several hundred years old and a medieval "circulade" village made up almost entirely of old buildings. Take a five minute walk along our road and you are in the countryside amongst Languedoc vineyards with beautiful views towards the hills.
  • Lovely townhouse in a village with all amenities - pattiserie, poste, general store, restaurant. Comfortable beds and lots of bathrooms for a large party.

    Maggie2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I travelled to Ginestas for a wedding. The villa was perfect location for the wedding venue which was a few minutes away. The villa was beautiful, clean, spacious, comfortable with modern bathrooms and traditional French features. It has ample parking space and a good size pool. It's not far from local shops and cafes with a 5 minute drive to the local supermarket.

    Richard2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place. Really near the wedding venue we attended. Karen was our contact in the village near by and would respond very quickly to questiobs. We were so lucky that we could arrive early and check out late as no one else was due to stay in the house. The rooms were huge. Really comfy. Stunning house.

  • We had a wonderful stay in this great house: We were two families with 8 persons, but there would have been enough space for one more family and even more... The description does not promise too much, the swimming pool is great, the rooms are furnished with plenty of taste, and the house is fully equipped and very tidy - rather hotel standard! Thanks to the nice courtyard and the big pool, you could stay and relax at home the whole day through, but Ginestas and surroundings are definetely worth a visit. And do not miss out to have a least one evening with barbecue, there are a very good butcher and fish shop in Lézignan-Corbières. Thank you very much, the kids are already planning for the next long weekend!

    Kristina2016-05-09T00:00:00Z

The location is perfect because it's close to nearby attractions (in Carcasonne, the canal du Midi, Narbonne, and near Perpignan) but still allows you a taste of French countryside. The space couldn't be better. Its updated, very clean, and very comfortable. As an added benefit: we were able to wake up and look out at vineyards!

They are a delightful family, incredibly helpful and friendly and going out of their way to make our stay there easy and enjoyable. The accommodation itself is fantastic, independent big room with own bathroom and living area, access to outside terrace, kitchen and pool. Everything is brand new, functional, nicely furnished and well thought out to make the stay enjoyable, down to the last detail. Very comfy beds, a lovely area. Highly recommended!

The large principal master bedroom has a very large double bed, with an ensuite bathroom off it, whilst bedroom 2 and 3 have splittable double beds and bedroom 4 has two single beds, which can be pushed together if necessary. Therefore making the bedrooms very flexible. We also have cots if necessary. English TV is provided, and outside you have use of your own private pool.
Canet d’Aude is a charming, up-and-coming village in the department of Aude in the Languedoc, in Southern France, just 15 minutes to the rear of Narbonne. Easy to reach via major roads, railways stations and airports, but none the less tucked away it is surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers. Only minutes away from the Canal du Midi, and a 10 minute drive to the Corbières mountains with their mysterious Cathar castles, 30 minute drive to the Mediterranean beaches at Narbonne Plage, and close to the medieval City of Carcassone. The village has a small supermarket, boulangerie, tabac, bar, pizza restaurant, pharmacy and doctor’s surgery. There is also a vegetable market on Friday and Sunday mornings. The large supermarkets are only 4km away at Lézignan Corbières.

  • We stayed at Patricia's wonderful apartment during our vacation in June. The apartment is an traditional French house, which is fully renovated, with own garden, parking area and a private pool. It was very clean and Patricia also supplied us with some drinks and food on arrival. She was very welcoming and gave us information regarding shopping and day trips. All together, everything was perfect and we can highly recommend this house. Thanks Patricia, we hope to come back one day!

  • We had an absolute lovely stay at Patricia's. She was very welcoming and warm and supportive. The apartment had really everything we could wish for: washing machine, kitchen and even a lovely Rosè as welcome gift. The apartment is spacious and offers quite enough space for a family. Since it has only a window in the master bedroom it stays nicely cool in the hot Langedoque days. Canet itself is a sweet little town with friendly people. From here you can do the most amazing trips. Narbonne and Carcassonne are close by as well as the lovely beaches Narbonne plage and St Pierre La mer. The latter has a great fish market. If your time allows you should go to Collioure, close to the Spanish border which is a medieval jewel! Another thing worth mentioning are the many, many vineyards, which produce fantastic wines. Especially the winery of La famille Fabre in is worth a wine tasting. ( Chateau De Luc sur Orbieu) Enjoy your amazing stay at Patricia's.

  • We had a lovely stay in Patricia's apartment. She was so friendly and pleasant to deal with. We had exchanged mobile numbers and she responded very quickly to any enquiries. The apartment was spotless and very comfortable for our stay. We were a family of 4 and had lots of space. Patricia greeted us and showed us around before leaving us to our own devices. I would highly recommend her apartment if you are looking for a place to stay in the area. Canet is a beautiful & pretty town. Perfect for exploring the canal du midi and surrounding vineyards.

  • Patricia is a lovely host. She speaks multiple languages and she was available if needed. We did not see her a lot as she respects privacy. The apartment is very nice, overall covers everything we needed. The shower was lovely and the bathroom and the bedroom was spacious and the bed very comfortable. Good strong WIFI. There were bikes to use and we could walk into the Village of Canet. A nice surprise !

  • Patricia's place is really nice. We enjoyed our stay very much. It is clean, has everything you could possibly need (including a Swimming pool, tv, WiFi, kitchen etc.). We are a familiy of 5 and the appartment could easily fit us all. Moreover, our car was safely parked in the courtyard. Patricia even left a bottle of rosé and some fruit and vegetables for us. We really recommend it!

  • Patricia is a very nice host, she was very accommodating as we were running late, the fridge was stocked with some welcoming drinks which was really appreciated. The place was as per the listing and in a nice little village, we enjoyed our stay there and would definitely go back again.

  • Patricia was an excellent host and we really enjoyed staying in her apartment in Canet. The pool is lovely and Patricia is very respectful of your privacy so we had it all to ourselves. The apartment was cool in the heat, well equipped and very clean. Patricia kindly left us a cold bottle of wine for the evening we arrived and had also left us some breakfast as we arrived on a Sunday. Patricia, whilst respectful of your privacy was also very helpful for information on the local area. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would highly recommend Patricia as a host.

I like the quiet location, I also appreciate the proximity, kindness and availability of villagers, is really a typical village in southern France where we feel good, where people still take time to live ... a great life lesson.
