Egg Rock is one of our coziest rooms at the Inn at Southwest. Furnished with a full size bed as well as its own private bath. Complete with a delightful bench seat perfect for relaxing after a long day in Acadia Park. A full breakfast is included.
Egg is a cozy room with a full size bed and a delightful reading alcove that looks out over the grounds of the Inn.
Southwest Harbor is a delightful small town with excellent restaurants and shops. But the best part is, they are all only a five minute walk from the inn.
  • We had a wonderful stay here! Dora was kind and attentive and B&B was fantastic. The breakfasts each morning were out of this world. Also, there were always nice snacks & the famous ‘autumn punch’ to be had in the lobby. Would absolutely stay again.

  • We had a lovely stay in the Eggrock room. Dora and Daniel are a fantastic team. The food was delightful and we had a memorable visit. We will return!

    Melissa2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Such gracious hosts and amazing breakfasts! The home is lovely - we were greeted with homemade cookies, coffee, warm cider and a warm fire upon our arrival! Daniel is very creative in the kitchen - his apple dumplings were over the top!

  • JACK POT!! Staying at Dora’s was the highlight of our trip to Maine. Amazing hospitality, the food was incredible, and the location was ideal. Fantastic tips, beautiful rooms, and great company. You can’t go wrong here - definitely book with the Inn at Southwest if you’re staying in Bar Harbour (and even if you’re planning on a sun rise hike, be sure to be back for breakfast - it’s to die for)!

    Julia2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Perfection, loving details, great hospitality, amazing food, valuable tips, a wonderful house, that is the Inn at Southwest.

    Dirk2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Dora and Daniel were amazing hosts. While we were there the weather wasn't so great, but they were very helpful in recommending things to do that we hadn't planned for that turned out to be a great use of our day on the island. And we won't forget Daniel's breakfast for a long time, definitely worth the drive back from Cadillac Mountain!

    Spencer2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Dora was very helpful with local recommendations, friendly, and provided a delicious gourmet breakfast each day. Our favorite special touch was the autumn tea and cookies we enjoyed by the fire in the evening when it got too chilly to be outside.

  • My wife and I stayed here for a two night trip to Acadia. The space was clean and well located in Southwest Harbor. It was close to a variety of lesser-known trails/attractions, but the more well-known areas were also a quick 20-minute drive away. The best part about this inn was the hosts, Dora and Dan. Dora was friendly and enthusiastically asked us about our day and offered recommendations for us to avoid some of the tourist traps. Dan cooked breakfasts each morning which were thoughtfully composed and delicious. Also, the size of the room worked great for me and my wife, but if you want more space, I encourage you to look at some of the other rooms available at The Inn at Southwest. Regardless of which room you pick, you will have a great experience.

    Steven2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The Moorings Inn is an adorable place to stay. I actually booked two different rooms in this place. This roomwas small but very comfortable. It has all your basic needs and necessities. The common area is filled with antiques and makes you feel like you’re in another time and place. It was nice to just sit by the window and stare out into the ocean. They also provide continental breakfast which was a lovely opportunity to lounge around the common area and get to know the other guests in the inn. Something about the Moorings Inn makes me feel warm and cozy inside. I would definitely come back to this place!

    Christine2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cute common areas, rooms have everything you need and great views out back! Coffee always at the ready and a simple breakfast but I feel like most people head into town for a heavier breakfast anyway. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others. Nice little taste of Maine!

    Jonathan2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Moorings in. It is located in a beautiful spot and they were very welcoming. Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay there!

  • We had a wonderful stay on the "Quiet Side." The Inn is lovely, perfectly located and Mark and Holly were exceptional hosts. Breakfasts were perfect and the room was spacious and comfortable. Holly's suggestion of bike rentals to ride through the Fall colors on the Carriage Roads absolutely made our trip.

    Janet And Brad2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbour but still perfectly situated with access to all activities and places of interest. We were made to feel most welcome, a very comfy bed and great breakfast each day.

Guests will have plenty of space to relax in this 800 square feet King Suite. South West Harbor is a happy medium just 15 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the cruise ship crowds in Bar Harbor. Lovingly referred to as the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island, the downtown is vibrant with charming shops, restaurants, and antique stores. There are two town docks from which you can catch the ferry to Cranberry Island, Swann Island or Islesford. Echo Lake is nearby, and Acadia National Park is all around.

  • At Moss & Maple Inn you won't be disappointed with your stay! Jacki is a wonder host and very quick to answer any questions you may have. The Captains Quarters, King Suite #1 was amazing and the photos don't do it justice! It's very spacious and the memory foam bed is "just like at home"! The room and bathroom were spotless and had everything you could think of needing - from the deep soaker spa tub, to the microwave, mini-fridge & freezer and coffee maker right in the room - to the snacks, coffee & tea and wine to enjoy each day/evening. The location is perfect on the quiet side of the island and is close to everything - activities, restaurants, Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor. Jacki has many suggestion on where to eat and things to do, if you are lacking for ideas.

    Michelle2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline and her husband were amazing the place felt like home. The room was beyond my expectations and so warm and cozy. And the bathroom just the bathroom was enough for me to not wanna leave. Thank y’all again you will be hearing from us again.

    Courtnee2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was amazing!!! I went to relax and unwind from the year and spend New Years in a comfortable and cozy place away with amazing sights! This space provided all of that! And the continental breakfast - just wonderful, simple and healthy!!! I will definitely come back again.

    Pamella2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Truly and incredible place. Jacqueline is kind, warm, and truly wants to make sure everything you need is taken care of. The home is beautiful and spacious, and breakfast is exactly what you need to get your day started. Definitely eat the scones! They are amazing!!

    Victoria2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline and James are wonderful hosts! Their older home is super charming and very clean. We loved the location and quiet tranquil setting, just minutes from town and Sawyer’s (amazing) Market. We would gladly book the Captains quarters again!

  • I would highly recommend staying at Marty's place. It is in a local BNB on the quiet west-side. It is still very accessible to great eats and the main town of bar harbor. The room was exceptionally clean.

    Jessica2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Always a great stay here - Marty is always very helpful and the location is perfect for getting to and from bar harbor in a reasonable amount of time

    David2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Marty had a great place for us to use as a base camp while exploring the nearby towns and taking in Acadia National Park. The rooms were quiet, clean, and the perfect spot to relax.

    Nick2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place! Will come stay again. Easy check in, easy check out, wonderful restaurant right downstairs, cute and clean room, and close to southharbor acadia trails.

    Lauren2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Dry Dock was perfectly situated in Southwest Harbor, it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. The location is close to Bass Harbor lighthouse and some great hikes and lakes in Acadia National Park. It is an easy drive to Bar Harbor. There are great restaurants nearby and the Dry Dock Cafe is below. We unfortunately were not able to eat there but did have the most delicious pumpkin martini at the bar. I can only assume the food is good as it was always very crowded. The room was very clean, and nicely decorated. They do have parking not far from the hotel. They supplied everything you would need, including coffee maker, bottled water, microwave, TV, internet and hair dryer as well as plush towels. We would definitely stay here again.

    Maureen2018-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is adorable! We loved it!

    Robin2018-07-25T00:00:00Z

    Kim2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Drydock was perfection! Southwest harbor is such a quaint little town, and Marty's place was the cherry on top! The room was spotless, incredibly inviting, and so comfortable after hours of hiking and traveling! The town has a few cute shops and restaurants literally right across the street, and Marty made check in super easy! Southwest Harbor felt more like a legitimate "Maine" experience vs the very touristy Bar Harbor. 10/10 would recommend.

    Rebekah2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nice clean accommodations. At the heart of southwest harbor and walking distance to restaurants/bakeries. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering a stay here.

  • Great place. I recommend this place for a very convenient stay.

    Amit2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Airbnb had a technical issue that they had to work through, we ended up with two places, so we didn't get the chance to stay.

    Kery2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our room was nicely appointed, clean, quiet and comfortable. The Beehive at Drydock had a sitting area, microwave, coffee maker, fridge, and dishes/cups/ glasses/ silverware. We bought groceries for our breakfasts/lunches and only ate out once a day. Free parking was just a block away. The shower was hot, with good strong water flow. There was even a night light. Drydock restaurant downstairs had lovely meals!

Enjoy those Bar Harbor starlit nights from this rooftop room. Breakfast is included with the room. Please see our website for the menu. • Will definitely return. Excellent space, perfectly located for exploring the area and coming back to rest!! Breakfast was killer and the dinner was excellent as well! Came late in season and were some of the only guests there so it was quiet, but that was perfect for us!! A+++

    Jonny2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was an adorable bed and breakfast! Breakfast was surprisingly included as an extra. There is a pub downstairs which is also fun old English vibes. Happy hour is a must for local oysters.

    Crystal2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a quaint BnB with an included hot breakfast that's cooked to order in the pub downstairs. Great place and hospitality, as long as you're expecting to stay in an older inn rather than a modern hotel. Library of local guidebooks to borrow were useful. My room had a minifridge too.

    Daniel2019-10-24T00:00:00Z

Would thoroughly recommend as a base when visiting Acadia.

  • Mary's place was a perfect place to stay on Mount Dessert Island. It was a good location to a ton of good walking trails, light house and restaurants. It was nice to have a restaurant downstairs close.

  • People in Maine are so very nice. Everyone is easy to talk to. The cleaning girls really wanted to please and did an outstanding job.

  • Marty was very helpful and responded quickly to any and all questions that we had. Being able to book last-minute the night before our weekend trip, was very nice and appreciative. The room itself was ideal as well and would work for any couples visiting Acadia and the surrounding area. Everything was nicely updated and sufficient for a quaint suite.

    Christopher2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Gorham suite was very adorable! The bed was comfortable, The combination living/dining/kitchen area was also comfortable and functional. Brought a lot of our own food, and had plenty of room in the refrigerator. This space works great for two people, but would not recommend this particular suite for a larger family, mostly because of the compact bathroom and bedroom spaces. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, and our host was friendly and accommodating.

  • This was such a cute Inn style Airbnb. We loved our stay Jacqueline and her partner were very sweet and accommodating. I would recommend staying here to anyone going to Acadia.

    Caroline2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The inn is quaint and cozy! The room is so cute as is the entire home. There was a delicious breakfast each morning which was perfect before a long day of hiking. Jacqueline greeted us our first morning and had tons of tips on local restaurants, trails to try. We also took advantage of popcorn and a glass of wine to end the day - can’t say enough goof thinks and can’t wait to return!

    Ariel2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancée and I loved our stay at Moss & Maple. Jacki is a thoughtful host and has thought of every little thing: from the offer of wine and popcorn in the impressively homey dining room, to the robes hidden neatly in the closets and the binder full of local haunts to check out. We felt right at home and loved returning back to our room at the end of the day. Breakfast is also a highlight! It was so magical come down to find fresh fruit and warm pastries every morning. We talked about coming back before we even left!

    Brittney2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location! Easy access to Bar Harbor and a very short drive to restaurants in Southwest Harbor. The property is beautiful, and the rooms are cozy and quiet. Breakfast was wonderful as well. A great spot for a weekend trip. Wish we could have stayed longer!

  • The Holland Inn is in an excellent location. Our room was super neat and clean. Breakfast is delicious! Hopefully you get the chance to try the ham pocket!

  • You can expect a great introduction to the area by a wonderful caring Inn Keeper. Evin makes a great effort to accommodate your dietary needs and serves a beautiful breakfast. The room was well appointed and she went out of her way to make an accessible room available to us. Keurig in the bedrooms and common room. Good reading material available as well as games and puzzles. Close walk to everything in town. Quiet neighborhood and peaceful sleeping. We are eager to go back someday.

  • Such a great place to stay! 100% recommend - close to everything but also private enough to enjoy coffee on the deck.

    Hayley2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Evin's advice about the area was excellent. The food she prepared was absolutely wonderful. Her knowledge of the area and what to do was excellent! The location of the house was close enough to downtown Bar Harbor to easily walk to everything bot enough out of the way that we felt some seclusion from the touristy atmosphere that the island can have.

Jasmine is our most popular, airy and roomy oceanfront room with super-comfy king bed, large sitting area with table and large private bath. Jasmine also includes a spacious oceanfront deck area for lounging with a glass of wine and perhaps one of our famous charcuteries! The views from this deck across Frenchman Bay to Acadia National Park are stunningly beautiful! Total room area (not including the deck area) is 380sqft.
We are located directly on the shore of Frenchman Bay. Swimming, sailing, kayaking, sunbathing, and bird watching are all favorite activities. Note that we do not rent or provide kayaks - however there are kayak rental companies in the area. We can also arrange a boat outing for up to 8 people with a neighboring captain (subject to availability). We are also only 15 miles from Acadia's Schoodic point which is a paradise for cyclists, runners, hikers and automobile touring. In addition, hikers will enjoy nearby Schoodic Mountain for a wonderful half-day hike - only 8 miles from the inn.
  • My husband and I were simply awe-struck when we pulled into the gorgeous property of The Acadia Bay Inn. The building itself is simply charming and full of tasteful, antique decor. The backyard is absolutely pristine and there is even access to a private beach! Our guest room, as well as the bathroom, were both very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and adorned with high end linens. Our favorite part of our stay was enjoying a bottle of wine together on our private balcony while watching the sunset over the bay. The view was STUNNING! Our breakfast on the patio was a special treat and the innkeepers were so kind to accommodate for my Gluten allergy. Aside from being hospitable, the innkeepers had nice personalities and provided some great insider tips for restaurants and things to do in the area. This was such a memorable trip celebrating our anniversary and my husband and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about The Acadia Bay Inn. (Seriously, we couldn't think of one negative thing... every aspect was truly perfect) We would book here again in a heartbeat if we are ever back to this side of the country!

  • We couldn’t rate Acadia Bay Inn highly enough, from the moment we arrived both Tod and Angie made us feel so welcome. Their suggestions each day for things to do and see and where to eat were the best, and their home cooked breakfasts on the terrace with the view was a highlight for us. Acadia Bay Inn will always hold a special place in our hearts, if you’re planning a visit to the surrounding area you simply must stay here.

    Katie2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was delightful at Acadia Bay Inn. The room was exactly as pictured beautifully online; the location was gorgeous; the little touches like blankets and comfy chairs for the porch were unexpected; and the hospitality of the hosts was beyond excellent. You will love it!

    Laura2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • An angelic place!

    Manoj2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at the Jasmin suite over the weekend. The room is much more spacious than what appeared in the photo. The balcony has comfortable lounge chairs. It is a wonderful place to relax and reflect as the sun rises and sets over the horizon with the distanced view of the Cadillac and Bubble mountains. The homemade breakfast and lobster salad Angie and Todd prepared were tasty and beautifully presented. The ambience was perfect with the waterfront view and tranquility. The inn is well situated to visit Schoodic point with its rugged shoreline and pounding wave. I highly recommend the inn and look forward to revisiting Angie and Todd.

  • This was our first experience using Airbnb. Will definitely use again. Our host, Kevin was there to check us in and get us settled. Nice little covered porch on back of house to sit and relax. Beautiful artwork throughout home. Stayed one night, but would stop there again if in the area! Thanks for the hospitality.

  • Kevin & Barb’s place was great. Our room was spacious, very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We had delicious breakfast each morning where we got to talk to both of them. They are such nice people. Barb’s art is displayed around the Airbnb which makes for a very comfortable and homey feel and she’s extremely talented! This Airbnb is not far from Acadia National Park. Would recommend to anyone!!

    Sarah2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Overall we enjoyed staying at this place and would stay there again. We wish we could have been closer to Bar Harbor area but it is very expensive there, while this short drive cuts the cost by alot. The building is an old assisted living home I believe, it was fine for us but could be creepy to some. It isn't a big deal at all though, the rooms were nice and clean with a cozy heater. Breakfast was great, my vegan plant based diet girlfriend even found things to eat which can be hard sometimes. The hosts were very kind and do a good job!

We spent an evening sitting at the fire pit sipping wine and it was magical. Jenni, Charlie, David and Lynne were hospitable and attentive hosts/hostesses. Easy to communicate with and prompt in answering. They were willing to give advice and suggestions regarding the activities in the area and help with anything we needed. It truly exceeded our expectations and we would definitely do it again. A lovely haven following a day of adventure! Dave and Sheree Mirka Wasilla Ak

  • Jeannie’s was a fantastic place to stay while my husband and I were visiting in and around Bar Harbor. Jen and her family made our stay extra special. The room was comfortable with a great bathroom area and beautiful views of Flanders Bay Area. It is always nice to wake up to see water, with boats on the water, and when the tide is low, there is an area to walk and search for sea glass or shells or rocks. Such a wonderful place, you will love it.

    Kathy2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing view! And the hospitality, cleanliness, extra touches and recommendations all made for a wonderful stay! We'd rebook here without a doubt if we come back to Maine.

  • I stayed here during my trip to Acadia and it was a great choice. My room was not at all expensive, and I had all the luxuries of a hotel stay. I did not spend much time in the room (hiked most of the day) but it was worth the booking. The place is very clean and comfortable and the hosts cooked an amazing breakfast the following morning to get my day started. If I ever come back to the area, this is where I will look to stay again.

Located near the tip of Blue Hill Peninsula, Brooklin, Maine offers a quiet retreat a bit over an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park to the East. A one-minute walk from The Maine Hideaway's doorstep brings you into the historic village of Brooklin, Maine and a short walk to the Wooden Boat School Campus. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed, great hospitality and the historic building.
This fantastic room is designed and priced for the traveler friends with two twin XL bed. The beds are Kluft brand and are glorious to sleep on. We have plush cotton towels. This room rate includes a hot made to order breakfast. This room has a large dresser and a shared hallway bath (if there are people in the other room).

  • My best friend and I stayed here before heading to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Such a pleasant stay and awesome breakfast. We were very well rested and all we could think of throughout our hike was when we could go back to this place again.

  • Our stay at Maribeth and Jeff's place was short but we really enjoyed it. The house is really clean, spacious and quiet. They are both very nice and provide us a lot of information about which restaurant to go in the area or at what time we should leave to maximize our view of the sunrise in Acadia. They also prepare a lovely take out breakfast for us. We would recommend this place with no hesitation!

    Nate2018-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • The best, most hospitable Airbnb we’ve ever stayed at. Maribeth and Jeff are awesome!

    Nate2018-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is GREAT! Maribeth truly is outstanding with hospitality and we loved talking with her. The bed was very comfortable and everything was extremely clean. There were small little touches that were added to make the experience wonderful. There is always coffee/tea/hot chocolate available and they even made cookies one night. The breakfast was delicious and felt great to get a homemade meal. The stars are spectacular since it’s in a pretty secluded small town area. It’s about exactly one hour to Acadia but its very worth it for such a unique living space!

  • If you are visiting anywhere in the vicinity of Brooklin, ME - - make this a must-stay. The house is beautiful, the hospitality extra warm, and the food/welcoming touches just fantastic! My 83-year-old mother was experiencing her first Air BnB lodging on our New England trip. She is STILL talking about the great stay at Maribeth & Jeff's Maine Hideaway.

  • We just fell in love with Gretchen. The house is beautiful, clean, well decorated, cozy and just feels like home, bed was huge and room was soothing, perfect for vacation. Breakfast was great, Gretchen is a wonderful cook! The neighborhood is sweet with restaurants within walking distance but close enough to the park as well by car. Gretchan gave us recommendations for food and travel, she has maps and books that guests can take/borrow. We just loved staying there. If we'll come back to Bar Harbor we'll surely come back, thanks for everything!

  • Great hospitality! Great location!

    Pat2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • I would 100% stay at Gretchen's B&B again. Located on the 'Quiet' part of the island in Southwest Harbor, it is a great break away from the tourist overrun Bar Harbor. You do need to drive a bit (30 min at most) to get to the major hikes, carriage trails and bar harbor but we didn't mind. Gretchen does a great job of making her place like home, breakfast is awesome, and restaurants in town are pretty good. You get your own bathroom and the rooms are spacious and comfy. Communication and check in is super easy. Overall, great hospitality.

  • Charming hostess and home.

  • Although not sparkling or modern, Penury Hall has a feel that is reminiscent of staying at your grandparents house, surrounded by rich history and stories of a life well-lived!

Our place is close to Acadia National Park on the Schoodic Peninsula, downtown Winter Harbor with its restaurants and galleries, the ferry to Bar Harbor and the free Island Explorer bus to the park and around town. B. You’ll love our home because it is very comfortable and immaculate with beautiful gardens and many quiet sitting areas for early morning coffee or your late afternoon wine. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers and a perfect spot for bird watchers.
We have a comfortable double bed. Fluffy warm LLBean blankets. And we offer a light breakfast. We also have a tv in the bedroom that has Net Flicks.
Its a unique Fishing Village/Art Community
  • We couldn't have selected a more pleasant location to enjoy a 'Down East' get-away. We especially enjoyed the morning breakfasts with fresh vine ripened raspberries from Deb & Wayne's garden. The bed & bath accommodations were above what we expected. Deb & Wayne's home is beautiful as were their impeccably kept gardens. We were at Crow's Rest in the fall and can only imagine they are a sight to behold in full bloom. The personal drive around the area highlighting some of the history by Deb was unexpected and gave us an appreciation of the history of Winter Harbor. We certainly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax and unwind.

    Jo-Anne2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wayne and Deborah were perfect hosts! Deborah made the most wonderful breakfasts. The accommodations were great. Their home is so inviting and their yard is beautiful.

    Nancy Lynne2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Crows Rest in Winter Harbor May be a bed and breakfast, but it is like no other bed and breakfast that you have ever stayed at before. Deb and Wayne are amazing hosts. One of the highlights of the stay is Deb’s tour of the small town of Winter Harbor. The house is extremely clean and comfortable and is located right at the entrance of Acadia National Park’s Schoodic Peninsula. The breakfast was terrific and even offered locally smoked salmon for our lox’s and bagels. I would recommend the Crows Rest to anyone who is looking for a getaway on the Maine coast at a place that will feel like you are visiting family or friends.

  • Wayne and Deborah were lovely and warm, the accomodations were clean and very nice, breakfast was delicious and Deborah's tour of the area was outstanding. The place is bright and cheery and very comfortable.

  • We began a 12 day road trip at Wayne and Deborah's home. Their home, gardens and the area were amazing. Wonderful hosts. Great ideas of out of the way places and Deborah provided us with a great historical tour of Winter Harbor. Our room was comfy with an amazing view. We loved our stay and would stay again!

  • Nothing but the best Airbnb. The hit all the marks and then some. They are super friendly and the place is the cutest ever. You have privacy in your room and bathroom. They have great meals and are great hosts. The art and the gardens are beautiful along with all the scenery. This is a gem! You cannot go wrong staying here. It is the quiet side but they know all the hidden places that you get to enjoy without all the people! We will be back!

    Jennifer2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! This is a special place that made my trip to Maine absolutely perfect. The charming house is recently remodeled, immaculately clean, decorated beautifully. Wayne and Deborah are warm, gracious hosts and a delight to talk with. The private bedroom and bath were clean, comfortable, and had everything you could need. The shared living and dining areas are lovely and comfortable as well. Deborah’s gourmet breakfasts are served in a beautiful nook with windows overlooking the gorgeous and extensive gardens. The location is an easy 40 minute drive to the main Acadia park on Mt Desert Island and less than a mile from the Schoodic section of the park- don’t miss the stunning views on this 11-mile stretch. Wayne and Deborah’s place is a gem- and they made me feel very welcome. Deborah is a wealth of information about the town’s history- ask her for a quick tour around.

Each breakfast consisted of an egg dish, starch, and fresh fruit. She’s an excellent host and cook! The room was very clean and cozy. The location is walkable to everywhere in town. Great value for an awesome location, host and room!

  • This is my first B&B inn stay and it was AMAZING. The location and pricing is the best and this place is even better in my opinion than the standard hotels. Everything’s decorated nicely and it’s really cute and clean and quiet here. Great location in downtown Bar Harbor. This place is really like home and Evin is such a friendly host. She makes really fresh and delicious breakfast every morning and will share with everyone her suggestions about the area. Would definitely recommend this place to friends or come back again next time.

  • We honestly enjoyed our stay at Sue and Eric's place. The room was totally cosy and clean. One can truly see that the whole BnB was furnished with a lot of effort and love for details. Oh and breakfast is incredible! Sue and Eric were the perfect hosts. Very warm-hearted and welcoming. Thanks to them it felt like coming home every evening. We definitely recommend staying there!

    Dominik2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful time! We spent 5 nights at the Chocolate Chip B&B, while we explored all over down east Maine by day, and couldn’t have been happier with our experience! Everything from the moment we walked in was inviting and warm! The common area was cozy and warm, with plenty of books, tables & chairs for cards/games, and always available coffee. Our room was well appointed and comfortable with a meticulously clean bathroom. Sue’s homemade breakfast each morning was plentiful and delicious, and Eric’s tips on local sight seeing were spot-on! You can’t go wrong staying with them, and we hope to be there again soon!!

    Jim & Joanne2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Susan and Eric run an amazing bed and breakfast. Located just 30 minutes from the national park, and 2 minutes from a local beach, the Chocolate Chip BnB is a great place to stay. Both Susan and Eric were very friendly and knowledgeable about all the fun and exciting things to do in and around the island. Eric even showed us on a map all of the best hidden hiking trails, and gave advice as to where to go kayaking. Susan's breakfasts were absolutely delicious and prepared us for several long days of hiking and climbing. The airbnb is outside of the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor making it the perfect place to wind down, read a book, and enjoy some homemade chocolate chip cookies after a long day of outdoor activity.

    Avie2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Susan and Eric were absolutely fantastic hosts. There were so many special touches and thoughtful details throughout the property and it was beyond cozy. Susan prepared us a delicious breakfast in the morning and was even accommodating of allergies and special request. Lovely people and a lovely place!

    Casey2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you google bed and breakfast, this place should absolutely be the first result. It was very homey and you get such a welcoming feeling when you walk in not only from the decor, but from Susan and Eric's hospitality. They were very helpful with what to do in the area right off the bat, providing maps and brochures galore. The breakfast every morning was delicious, and she accommodates to dietary restrictions if needed. Our room was cleaned daily, with fresh sheets and homemade cookies (even separate gluten free ones for my girlfriend). I don't know how else to describe the stay here other than feeling like you are in a hallmark movie. Seriously, if I could give them 6 stars, I would. The experience staying here was above and beyond any place I've ever stayed. Susan told us this was her dream to own and operate this BnB, and it definitely shows.

  • I was amazed! This experience was exactly what I was looking for in Maine. I stayed cozy and comfortable despite the fall temperatures. My room was warm, and I really loved the fireplace in the living room. My bed was comfortable, the shower had super hot water, and at no time did I feel like a guest. I felt so at home. The big windows let you enjoy the view outside. I love the history, and the apples, and all the books and maps. My little dog Bowser had the time of his life too. Southwest Harbor is beautiful. The sunsets and sunrises were spectacular. I loved every moment of my stay, even the rain storms. Thank you so much for sharing your world with me this past week. I’ll definitely be back!

  • Staying at The Moorings Inn was an absolute treat! I actually booked two different rooms in this place. Both rooms were very comfortable. This room was just a bit bigger than the other one. It was pretty cold at the time of our stay, so we didn’t really need a fan. I would say that the best part of the Moorings Inn is the common area. It’s just beautifully decorated with so many antiques. The view from the window was also gorgeous. We were given a mini-tour and history lesson of the Inn by the Mcguille which we very much appreciated! We also enjoyed conversing with the other guests during breakfast. Everything about our stay felt warm and homey and we will definitely return to this location!

    Christine2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Moorings is an absolutely beautiful place to stay in Southwest Harbor. The old Inn has nicely decorated, comfortable rooms, many of which have amazing ocean views. It is so relaxing to sit in Adirondack chairs and watch the boats pull in & out of the harbor. In the evenings, many of the guests gather around a fire pit on the beach and share their travel experiences. We had a wonderful stay, and can’t wait to come back!

    Jeanette2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Moorings was a wonderful place to stay - great views and hospitality!

    Vincenza2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Moorings Inn was exactly as I imagined it, and the photos did it justice. The room and bathroom were small, but I knew to expect that. It's been well-maintained. The only downside was no AC and the room I was in (Monarch) didn't get much of a breeze coming in. There was a tabletop fan that I moved in an attempt to get some wind circulating, and that helped me be able to sleep. I'd love to go back in cooler weather! Thank you!! :-)

    Amy2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had awesome time in Southwest Harbor and we enjoyed having breakfasts outside just looking at that beautiful view at The Moorings. We want to come back and experience more of Acadia Park. Next time we definitely want to take our dogs, April and Dexter, to see it all too! We’re so glad this place is dog friendly. We would definitely recommend to stay at The Moorings. Very clean and neat rooms. Beautiful view. Friendly staff. Peace and quiet. All we needed!

Very quiet town with a few small shops. Close to Blue Hill and about 45 miles from Acadia National Park.
  • The Lookout is really a wonderful place to stay. The location right on a peninsula provides the most amazing views! Butch cooks a delicious breakfast every morning, including the best blueberry pancakes ever! Be sure to have dinner in the dining room at least once. The food is fantastic, and the ambiance is perfect. The bedroom is comfortable, but be sure to pack a robe, for although the bathroom is private, it is down the hall a bit, and you may encounter other guests.

I especially enjoyed our breakfast the following morning, where we enjoyed some of the most delicious blueberry pancakes I've ever had. Butch was extremely accommodating and I very much enjoyed hearing his stories over breakfast. If ever back in Maine, I would 100% consider or recommend staying at the lookout again!

    Ashanti2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a place that's a bit out of the way from the bustle of Bar Harbor and you like the small town vibe, the Dry Dock Inn is a terrific place to spend a few nights in true New England comfort. Marty is a great hostess; check-in couldn't have been easier and the staff at the Dry Dock are helpful and welcoming. The room has everything you need for an enjoyable stay; the room was comfortable, clean, quiet, and a perfect place to crash after a day of hiking, boating, or wedding-going (as we were.) And a quick tip for travelers to MDI, in case you've never been: Bar Harbor is great for a visit, but if you like a quieter spot that's got more of a neighborhood vibe and less tourists, we recommend Southwest Harbor. It's a perfect jumping off point for boating, fishing, kayaking, and island sightseeing, not to mention hiking in the Western portion of Acadia National Park, which is less than 10 minutes from SW Harbor. If you like more secluded trails, this is a great place to stay for day hikes, and finish up the day with a meal at Cafe Dry Dock (just below the inn.)

Spend your vacation in a home only 15 minutes from Acadia National Park. This private home is on 2.75 acres but abuts miles of forest land, perfect for hiking, x-country skiing, or snowshoeing. The setting is quiet and peaceful.
Your room and private bath are upstairs and private. The bed is queen-size, and the bath with a standup shower is across the hall. Host lives on the first floor. Big screen TV is available in living area. I love to talk to my guests, but I also respect their need to relax and "get away." I work some days and leave quite early, but breakfast will be left out for you. Bring your bikes (or rent them in Bar Harbor). There are 47 miles of carriage roads in Acadia. I have a cat, a rescue, her name is Willow.
I love the quiet of the neighborhood, and I love being steps away from hiking trails, ski trails, and a wealth of wildlife and biodiversity. My human neighbors are all very friendly. We are like a little mini-village on our street. We get along very well.
  • Kelley is a wonderful host. She knows the area very well and her tips for the Acadia N. P. were excellent. I loved being with her and would like to stay longer.

    Daniela2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Y’all - if Kelley’s space is available, STAY HERE! What a thoughtful and generous host! It felt like I was staying at a dear friends home. Not only did she communicate great before and during our stay, but she also had several thoughtful touches (like homemade blueberry muffins!) throughout her home that made a huge difference to us. The bed was comfy, bathroom was spacious and clean, and we had everything we could need. She also lives on the most quiet and peaceful street that was stunning with the fall foliage. It was incredibly convenient to Acadia national park and easy to access. When we come back up to Acadia, we will definitely be staying here again!

  • Kelley was an excellent host. Communication prior to our stay was outstanding, and Kelley provided personalised touches which were much appreciated. Her house is spotlessly clean and in a very quiet, wooded area, very conveniently placed for exploring Acadia.

  • The second floor gave us plenty of privacy and a nice space to relax after hiking.

  • Read the reviews. Kelley is a great host. I would stay there again if I'm in the area.

  • Kelley is an amazing host. Her house was super clean and traveller friendly. She was very kind and helpful during the conversations we had. I would surely recommend her place to any travellers visiting Bar Harbour, ME area.

  • Our visit to Mt. Desert Island at The Drydocks Inn was great! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would book this place again if we are ever back in Southwest Harbor. Our favorite thing about our stay was the incredible meal we had at the restaurant after checking in. The seafood dishes we ordered were all fresh and delicious!

  • The Drydock Inn was a fabulous place. Beautiful building in Southwest Harbour. Marty was wonderful and very hospitable. The food at their restaurant was top notch as was the drinks at the bar. Next time we go up there, we will be sure to stay there again

  • The pictures do not do this place justice! The Drydock Inn is so comfortable, convenient and aesthetically awesome! The atmosphere, the ease of check-in, the staff, and the food so exceeded our expectations that it really made our whole vacation that much better! The location in Southwest Harbor is the place to stay for Acadia. Bar Harbor was nice to visit but staying in Southwest Harbor was the way to go. A quiet, walking friendly town that is close to Acadia experiences. If you're planning an Acadia vacation, do yourself a favor and stay at the Drydock Inn.

  • We stayed in room 4 of Marty’s Dry Dock Inn, it was a wonderful stay the room was so clean and comfortable. The bed was wonderful and the sheets really great. Check in was super simple and there are plenty of nice places to eat around the Inn. Sadly we didn’t get a chance to eat at the Dry Dock Restaurant but did eat breakfast at Sips around the corner which was very reasonable and delicious. We would happily stay here again.

  • What's not to love about a charming, sparkling clean room in an postcard perfect island community? Loved that there was an abundance of coffee, cream and sugar for the in-room coffee maker. If you go in the summer they can arrange boating, hiking, biking.... whatever you need. Southwest Harbor location has everything within walking distance: market, restaurants, shops, hardware store....
