Lovely home close to Leeds city centre. Located at the Chapel Allerton end of Gledhow Lane, Our home was built in 1923. And is situated in arguably the most desirable area in Leeds, We have tried to retain some of the original features whilst combining the usual or even unusual mod cons. There's a complimentary tea and coffee and filtered water facility in the guest lounge and 3dtv. The guest rooms have climate control which is pre-programmed to be ideal for a great nights sleep. Breakfast is served between 7am and 9am. It's normally a choice of pastries, cereal, toast and a selection of jams, mixed fruit, yogurt + seeds. Or try our lovely buttery scrambled egg with toast and thinly sliced smoked salmon, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Both options come with tea and fruit juice or fresh ground coffee and fruit juice. Please choose between one of the two options. Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements or restrictions and we will try to cater for you. Less than 5 minutes walk from the heart of Chapel Allerton where you will find dozens of places to eat out catering for varied tastes and budgets. We are very close to the city centre. 10 minutes on the bus or 35 minutes by foot. There is ample parking available in the grounds of the property if required. The area, Chapel Allerton has enjoyed a renaissance in recent years, with the area becoming one of the city's go to suburbs for living and relaxing. If you go for a wander, you're sure to find one or two buildings tucked away down a side street as well as a number of Gothic style villas and nineteenth century terraces which have become highly desirable for young families. With its close proximity to the city centre (1.6 miles) and the impressive array of amenities in the area, it's now one of the city's most enviable places to live or visit. You won't be thirsty for long in Chapel A- the hub of the village lies around the crossroads between Harrogate Road and Stainbeck Lane where you'll find local watering holes like the Siam Oriental restaurant where Rhaul has kindly given fantastic discounts to guests booked and currently staying with us, Kith & Kin, The Regent, The Manor, The Three Hulats, The Pit, 7 Bar and live music, The Mustard Pot, and The Hub nestled amongst popular eateries like Pinche Pinche, Casa Mia, Aagrah, El Bareto, Caffé Nero, and many many more. Our personal favourite however is the Sukhothai which has to be amongst the best Thai restaurants in the country. Casa Mia is a great place to chill and the food is always worth a sample. Head a little further from the centre and you'll discover The Regent and The Mustard Pot, two classically British pubs. Venture further along Harrogate Road and pop into Further North, the smaller cousin to the city's popular North Bar, The Toby Carvery serves a full carvery every day from 11:45 am to around 9:30 pm. The Three Hulats pub is a Wetherspoons and offers exceptional value for money, usually having a meal and a drink deal. Shop till you drop :- With over 1,000 shops in the city alone and 600+ stalls in the market Leeds was named the best shopping destination in the UK by the Rough Guide to Britain. If you're looking for fabulous fashion under one roof head to the Trinity shopping centre, the largest enclosed shopping centre in Europe. Step back in time :- Explore the medieval Cistercian Kirkstall Abbey. The 12th century abbey is set in picturesque parkland along the banks of the River Aire. If you're looking for history, heritage and a haven of wildlife and greenery, a sunny day will be well spent at this free local attraction. The foundations to this abbey are almost 900 years old ! Leeds for sport :- If you love sport Leeds has so much to offer sporting fans. Not only is Leeds home to a world-famous cricket ground, Headingley Carnegie, the city is also proud of its strong rugby heritage, with Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Carnegie drawing fans from across the world. And Those were just a handful of the great sights the city has to offer. Some Interesting Facts About Leeds :- According to an independent national survey, Leeds is chosen to be the ‘Best Place in Britain to Live'. And Chapel Allerton was voted the best village in the country by its residents. Leeds Kirkgate Market is Europe's largest indoor market and is home to over 600 stalls. It is open 6 days a week, Monday – Saturday. The first moving image was filmed in Leeds in October 1888 by Louis Le Prince. Leeds Carnival is Western Europe's oldest West Indian Carnival. The inspiration for the construction of Temple Works comes from Temple of Horus in Egypt. It was the biggest single room in the world when it was built.
  • Joanna and Roy are really welcoming and nice. They are always happy to be helpful. What they offer is much more than B&B. They are like friends and families. Roy's scramble egg is amazing (and it turned out to be not scramble, Roy has his magic to make it. You got to find by yourself). Joanna and Roy showed me around the city center, telling me where to buy gifts for friends. We also had a pizza lunch together( thank you for that Joanna and Roy). Im looking forward to going back, and your visiting to Beijing.

  • Great stay. Nothing was too much trouble for Roy. Lovely room, peaceful, comfortable bed, meticulously clean. As was the bathroom with good shower. Delicious breakfast and great company. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommended.

  • I have just spent a lovely 5 nights at Roy and Joanna's home. They were wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is extremely comfortable, clean and cosy in an adjoining space that felt self contained as it is connected to the main house. The location is wonderful, only a short walk to Chapel Allerton which has some lovely bars and cafes and the fishmonger, butcher, greengrocer and cheesemonger shops gave the feel of a real community. The property is on the bus route into town which is only 15 mins drive away. I had a very enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to return. So much cheaper than a hotel. Roy and Joanna continue to think of ideas to make guests feel as welcome and comfortable as possible and it is evident how committed they are to achieving this. Roy and Joanna made it clear that they were willing to provide items that I may have forgotten such as toiletries, There were tea and coffee making facilities in the guest lounge, also a hair drier, clothes hangers, bath robes and towels were provided. Don't hesitate.........Book!!

  • How Do I write a review, whats not all ready been said. Roy & Joanna made me feel welcome in there home, typical Northern hospitality, on the Sunday Roy offered me a lift to a conference I was a tending that day. If I'm ever back in Leeds I would telephone Joanna & Roy first.

Quaint Yorkshire "Dark" village ie, no street lighting, opposite a thriving local real ale pub, two other pubs which both do food, Loads of good walks around the village. Close to thorner victory hall ,bowling green, tennis, courts and French boule court
  • Charles's lovely self contained property is perfect for a quiet retreat for two and as Thorner is just over 10 minutes from the A1(M) using the A64 it is easily accessible. Everything was ready when we arrived and Charles was on the lookout so we knew where to knock, it was dark by the time we arrived and there are no street lights in the village. The accommodation is spacious and well set out with a comfortable bed and quality bedding and towels. The annexe is set in the family's large garden and feels completely private. We hope to return again soon.

  • A birthday surprise that couldn't have been more perfect :)

    Annie2015-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very warm welcome from our hosts, and were greeted out of the rain into the Annex. We were shown around and were given all the info we needed from the heating, to the cooker to the heated swimming pool. Charles and his wife were very accommodating and Thorner as a village is very picturesque with lots of lovely stone houses and there are a couple of pubs on your front door.

    Dani2015-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was exactly as described, in fact was better than the photos. Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage was immaculate and comfortable. The village was ideally situated for our needs on this trip and we wouldn't hesitate to use it again. Very good value for money.

    Alice2015-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful experience. Charlie is a terrific host! I was here on business but it felt like being home. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

    Mark2015-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Charles was friendly and accommodating, got us in some good breakfast goods, the apartment is really comfortable- the bed is fantastic! and the photos don;t do it justice. Great location too. Thank you!

    Nancy2016-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house was absolutely perfect and we are so thankful we could use it as our home whilst attending Leeds (URL HIDDEN) certainly beat staying in a muddy tent when the rain was torrential! The house was spacious, modern and had everything needed. Our hosts were very friendly and helped us with little things throughout our stay. Unfortunately we didn't end up using the pool during our stay as were a little fragile in the mornings, but it's right bang in front our the house and looked very inviting! We would recommend this listing 100%, thank you so much for having us :)

    Hayley2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here - really glad to have found it and would definitely book again if we end up back in the area. We were made to feel very welcome, and the Annex is comfortable, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, with lovely views out over the pool and garden. The village is very pretty, and there's a well stocked shop a couple of doors down. We didn't get a chance to explore the pubs, which is a shame! All round a great Airbnb experience.

This luxury timber pod is situated on a rural, quiet site close to Leeds, Harewood, Roundhay and York. Heated and with its own deck it faces a lawned orchard.
Very quiet, small campsite in a rural setting. The pod overlooks a mown orchard. The pod itself is warm and comfortable with its own deck
The site I close to numerous public footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes. It provides s base to visit Leeds and all its attractions but also easy access to the Dales, the N Yorks moors, the Yorks wolds and Howardian hills
  • We really enjoyed our short stay in the pod!! It's certainly bigger than expected and was a lovely way to spend the night following a music festival in Leeds! It was plenty warm enough and the deck was lovely for breakfast! We would happily stay again.

    Martin2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic pod located in a lovely part of Yorkshire. Incredibly comfortable, warm and cosy. The shower, toilet and tea making facilities are all well cleaned! The site itself is very pleasant and using public transport you can easily reach Harrogate, Weatherby and Leeds or walk into nearby Shadwell. I would highly recommend.

    Richard2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • The directions got us easily to this lovely place to stay. Friendly reception and easy instructions. Facilities were good and the pod itself provided a comfortable nights sleep with USB charging on the plug socket for the phones! Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet bed for the night and the bunk house looked like it would be a great base for a group.

    Jan2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our short stay at the pod. Ruth welcomed us and gave us a local map so we could find the nearest fish and chips shop. Description of pod was accurate, it's small, but enough space for us. It does have some lanterns, and also an electrical outlet (so we could charge our phones!!). The bathroom was a short walk from the pod, which is a shared facility as described. The area was very peaceful.

    Lisa2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth was very helpful and accommodating about taxis and spring transport out! The pod was brilliant very cute and great for the night! However be careful of the porch I fell over badly and broke my phone and bruised my leg quite badly as it had been raining and was very sloppy!!! I was lucky if could have been worse!!! The bathroom door didn't close so couldn't be locked which in my opinion is very very bad! However the bathroom was clean which is good! There are no lights leading to the pod so when I got back after midnight it was a little disturbing not knowing where to head!! The mattresses where simple air beds and very uncomfortable maybe they needed a little more air! All in all however it was a great find and we had a good time! it was a great price and free parking in a beautiful spot it may seem like a slightly negative review but to be fair it is exactly what it says it is a little pod in a beautiful spot very handy for town we had a good time and I have recommended it to friends and would recommend it if you are looking for a cheap and dry stay!!! Prob better in the summer rather than in a cold rainy night!

    Abigail2016-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We tried the camping pod to have a go at something different and were pleasantly surprised with the experience. The pod is situated in an ideal location on the site which provides privacy and security, both contributing towards a peaceful mindset while we were there. Our host was lovely and attentive of our requests which made us feel very welcome on site. Thank you Ruth, we'll be back again soon.

    Emma2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent communication , keys left in the pod for our arrival, perfect!

    Tracy2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little pod, just as described. Ruth was extremely helpful with immediate responses to a couple of questions I had. We stayed in December and it was still perfectly warm during the night. Would definitely stay again if we're ever back around the area.

Light airy room small but cosy, overlooks countryside. Parking at the back if you don't want to park on the roadside, small garden with a patio. My home has a wood burner for cold winter evenings. I also have a cat so people with allergies may not be suitable guests. House is near the A1/M1 and M62, I am 6 miles from Leeds and 16 from York. All welcome at my wee place.
I overlook countryside with the local cricket and football field nearby. It is in a quiet rural setting but very handy for onward travel if you just want to stay overnight, the space is small but will sleep 2 although not for a long stay.
I am in a small village which is famous for its maypole. It has 3 pubs all do food. Also a fish and chip shop and a take away pizza place. The village has entered and won prizes in the Britain in Bloom shows. There is an historic mound dating back to the kings of Elmet.
  • A lovely room and homely place to stay. Cynthia was very welcoming and a great host providing breakfast and full use of the kitchen. Set in a nice and quiet area yet in a very convenient location. Great value too!

  • What a fantastic stay! Carol and her husband were very welcoming, and were happy to accommodate for our late arrival from the airport. We had the pleasure of experiencing both the in house double room- very spacious, own bathroom and super comfy bed! As well as the loft apartment, a fantastic space where we felt right at home. We were based here for Leeds festival - great location, easy to get into town via the local bus and a handy folio of suggestions of places to visit / eat. Only positive things to report - fantastic place and amazing hosts, a MUST if you are in the area.

  • Gorgeous loft conversion in a lovely, historic North Yorkshire town. Central to York, Leeds and all the sights of North Yorkshire. The property is immaculate and gorgeously presented. Highly recommend this area of the UK (and this property).

  • We had a wonderful few days at Crocodile lodge. The flat was very clean and had all we required for a very comfortable stay. Carol was on hand and always available if we needed anything. We will definitely return to Crocodile lodge if we visit Thorner again.

  • A lovely, very well maintained one bed flat with all the basic's needed for a comfortable short stay. Amazingly quiet, picturesque village but really close to Leeds by car. Definately a 'best of both' little bolt hole for tourists looking to experience rural Yorkshire within touching distance of a great City.

    thomas2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for exploring the area

    Brian2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This loft is located in a lovely quiet setting and a beautiful building and is very clean with a comfortable bed. We arrived on a cold wet December afternoon but the flat was cold then, and still cold at 10 pm when we asked for help. The owners were very responsive at this point and turned the heat on and gave us electric heaters. The bedroom is very small and there isn't sufficient room for suitcases except in the fire exit doorway. The living room is also quite small and felt cramped as there was a large computer desk and office chair along with sofas, side tables etc. We had to leave our suitcases in there also. We managed for a weekend but it would not have been suitable for a longer stay for us. We did not find it cosy but cold and cramped instead. I don't normally leave critical reviews but since I often rely on the honesty of others I feel obliged to do likewise.

There are lovely walks down a quite country lane next to the barn leading to the local cricket pitch.

His house is beautiful and he went above and beyond to make us feel welcome - he even gave us a lift to the wedding we were in the area to attend and shared a glass of wine with us on our return. I would highly recommend a stay here and hope that I can return one day.

  • I stayed one night with Michael arriving about 8 and leaving before 7 the next day. His house is in a quiet area and you can park outside but it is not near town. Everything clean. He was friendly and I'm sure would have been a welcoming host had I stayed longer. There is fast wi-fi. I did sleep - mostly - but I found the stay an uncomfortable one. Bed is a sofa bed which fills the room. I think it had a sheet on it ( or was it a 'mattress protector' ?) but I could feel every spring. There is a wardrobe but not accessible due to the sofa bed filling all available space. No other furniture bar a lamp. There's a large bathroom nearby but I could not work the complicated shower and no-one around at 6.30 so ended up having a wash. Nowhere to make a drink either. Perhaps this would be good if you are travelling around on a budget. As a business overnighter I would not recommend.

  • I and my wife stayed in a week and spend wonderful time. When we had problems and questions regarding life in Leeds, he kindly helped us and gave many useful information. He was pleased to offer his kitchen which had various tools to cook, and we enjoyed communication over cooking and eating meal. We would like to stay again!

  • Michael is a great host. Friendly and very hospitable with lots of local knowledge. I spent one night at his lovely home whilst working in the area, which is quiet and safe. He greeted me with a cup of tea on arrival and made me feel very welcome indeed.

  • Michael & Zahide are very friendly and sociable. We felt like at home. They were very attentive and kind. Zahide cooks the best Turkish food. Good food. Good company. Lovely lovely house.

    Marta2015-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • I tried to book this room. I got no reply from the host by breakfast on the day that I needed the room. I asked the landlady with whom I was staying, if she had a cancellation and she did, so I booked the room for a further night. Knew nothing about any Airebnb confirmation. I got a text to ask when I was arriving and texted back to say that as I had not heard anything I had found alternative accommodation. I don't think that I should pay as I had to go elsewhere.

    John2016-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say anything but great experience. Also it is the first time to book rooms using Airbnb. It made us feel like home. The room is nice and cozy just like the pictures shown in Airbnb. And I think Mike is very friendly. We took the wrong bus and he immediately came for us so that we did not to waiting outside along rain and cold. Overall, if we come Leeds again, we will choose to stay here.

    Chesney2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Mabel for more than one month and she is a very friendly and pleasant host. The house is very neat and clean and she has everything you need. This includes a washing machine and dryer, which was important for me as a long term guest. It is in a quiet area, quite far from the city center, but there is a bus stop right next to the door. The bus leaves every 10 min during normal hours. For close by shops you can go either to Lidl or Co-operative which are both reachable within a 5-10 min walk. I would recommend Mabel's place to anyone, but especially, if you are looking for cheap accommodation for a longer period.

    Matthias2017-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Mabel is a very friendly and welcoming host. She always checked with us if everything was okay and if we needed anything. I would surely recommend her and will definitely stay will her again.

    Okomo2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • The room is spacious enough with a double bed, a large wardrobe, a TV, a chest of drawers, and a table. The big window lets natural light in. Mabel is a very kind person and the whole house is very clean and organized. You can enjoy a cup of coffee in the garden. There is a bus stop, which is just one minute's walk away, towards Leeds city center.

    Huiwen2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Mabel went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. The room was immaculate, the bed SO comfortable, and the croissants for breakfast were yum! (I hope I didn't help myself to too many haha). Mabel is really easy company and made me feel instantly at home. On this particular trip I had quite a lot of preparation to do for my course, so I spent a lot of the time working in my room. For anyone who needs space to work, there is an office chair and desk in the room, and the room itself looks out over a garden so it's very peaceful and easy to concentrate in the house. I would certainly recommend checking this place out, if you're staying in the Leeds area.

    Andrea2015-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Julie was incredibly helpful and thoughtful host, I very much appreciated all the extra touches and the ready tea set and cake which was very welcome after the long journey to get there. The cottage is very charming and has everything you could possibly need. Lovely views over the fields from the bedroom windows. It takes about 35 minutes drive to York which is where I went although I wouldn't recommend driving through the town itself if you can help it. Sadly I didn't get a chance to visit the Boston Spa which everyone was recommending and which is much closer, so perhaps the next time. Something to bear in mind in terms of access to the cottage, the road is narrow, 40 and quite busy in the rush hours, so do watch out for that. Also, as you come off A1 and want to turn into Clifford, the turning is pitch black in the dark, it can be challenge to see anything. No fault of the host either of those things but just to keep in mind if it can be helpful. I've had a really nice stay and hope to come again some time.

Our lovely one bedroom flat is in the basement of our Victorian home. We're a 15 minute drive into Leeds City Centre, which is great for the First Direct Arena, fantastic shopping, theatres and restaurants. The famous spa town of Harrogate is 20 minutes North with Wetherby and historically beautiful York within easy reach. Leeds Bradford airport, Harewood House and Roundhay Park are also close by. We are within two miles of some of the most prestigious inland Golf Clubs in the country.
Access to our basement apartment is down a private lane which only residents of the other terrace houses use. It's a peaceful corner of North Leeds sitting within a diverse community. We've lived here for twenty years, and like many of our neighbours, are happy here.
  • The accommodation was exceptional, nothing short of amazing, couldn't have asked for better. Liz was an amazing host, providing essentials and little treats in the cupboards and fridge, which served useful, especially on the first night. The location was perfect, for a relaxing getaway, as the residential area, was quiet and peaceful and a reasonable car journey from the city centre. I would recommend this place to anyone who is coming to the Leeds area.

  • Modern and spacious flat. Liz is a welcoming and friendly host.

  • Loved our stay here. Would like to return sometime. 5 star quality. Very happy with our weekend retreat at liz’s place .

  • Fantastic location in residential suburb 4 miles north of the centre of Leeds. The accommodation was absolutely first class. The apartment was the ground floor of a lovely victorian house that had been renovated to a very high standard. It consisted of a living room, bedroom, fully fitted kitchen, and w/c/ wet room. Liz had left plenty of essentials in the fridge so if one arrived late one could make a snack. Everything was perfect

    David2017-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Liz's apartment - it's a lovely, clean, modern and well equipped place - perfect for a few days' visit to Leeds. Liz was really welcoming and on hand if we needed her throughout the stay. The location is quiet with friendly neighbours - a short walk/drive to Roundhay Park - and just a short taxi ride/bus (15 mins) from the city centre. Thanks for having us!

    Aaron2017-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed the stay. The apartment is lovely.

    Tom2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Liz has a beautiful space with a large bedroom, living room and lovely little kitchen and bathroom. There is everything you could need and Liz left a lovely tea selection in the kitchen cupboards. Noticable, was the heating system which was really easy to use and the space heated through so quickly which was most welcome in the winter!

    Catherine2017-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay to enjoy Leeds. It is especially ideally situated if you want to be in North Leeds, which we did. The flat is spacious, pristine and extremely well appointed. Liz and Andy are ideal hosts. Accessible when you want them, but not obtrusive. Thank you for a great stay

  • I have stayed at Vivek & Nisha's place for 3 days on official purpose. It really felt like home. I would recommend this to anyone who want to get rid of that hotel environment & to stay in a peaceful place They are always approachable and Nisha is a good company to have a little chit chat. Thank you both for making my stay very convenient. Can't ask for more. Would definitely stay again in future.

  • Stayed here for 4 nights as I was working in the area. The room I stayed in was at the back of the house with its own private door and access to a shared bathroom, it was tired and had everything I needed. I had access to the kitchen in the main house. Cereals, bread, eggs, sausages and more were in the fridge which I was told to help my self to for breakfast. Lyness hospitality was second to none. A good brew when I arrived and the offer of dinner. Lyness has a busy welcoming home, my dog and I enjoyed our stay and I have booked again.

  • Two night weekend break, very comfortable, warm, clean, home from home. The perfect location for our wedding at The Mansion, Leeds. Excellent views across the fields at the rear, watching the dawn break from the conservatory, and the cows. All the facilities you would expect and far better than a hotel.

  • We felt very at home as soon as we arrived at Elaine's Airbnb. It was everything we needed for our weekend in Leeds. Really comfortable and homely. Communication with Elaine was great and very easy. The information booklet was fantastic and we can thoroughly recommend Sukhothai for a great Thai meal. We found the menu in Elaine's information folder. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Leeds.

We will provide you with towels and toiletries. We will also have tea and coffee available for you in the kitchen which you will have full access to. The kitchen has an oven, microwave, kettle etc and space for you to store any food. However, you are also not far away from Roundhay, Oakwood and the city centre. There is also a small CO-OP within 5 minutes if you need anything.
