Search the web for Reedville, Virginia or the Northern Neck of Virginia.
  • Staying at Tom's "Waterfront Paradise" is the best of what Air Bnb has to offer -- a beautiful setting that a person would not normally have access to -- plus a congenial host who honestly enjoys meeting his guests. I am not a bit surprised that guests frequently return. I hope to sometime soon. Specifically, I look forward to more kayaking and evening campfires.

  • There isn't much else to say all of Tom's positive reviews are the spot on truth. The outdoor spaces are gorgeous and if the weather is nice (it was for us) you won't want to go inside at all. However the beds and pillows were most comfortable and if you're looking for a quiet nights sleep you'll get it here aside from an occasional bullfrog this is quiet country living. We were 2 adults and 3 kids (5,11 & 12) and Tom is such a great host and conversationalist that he was able to connect with each of us to make it a very memorable trip. We hope to be back soon.

  • Beautiful location very nice Home and Tom makes it as though it’s your own

  • From the first e-mail to our arrival, Tom made us feel welcome and that we were going to have a great vacation. He answered every email right away and answered all of my questions. Tom's waterfront place is beautiful, clean, spacious, and inviting for fun in and out of the house. The two bedrooms were well furnished, with great views. We just loved his garden, especially the fish and frog pond in front of the front porch. And I'll never forget my kayaking time with the girls. After dinner, Tom lit a fire for us in the campfire ring and put out all the fixings for s'mores. And the next morning, he surprised us with an incredible breakfast. Tom's a great guy to chat with, but he also does his own thing and lets his guests do theirs. If you're looking for a place for cool water activities, walks in an inspiring garden, or just a quiet place to hang out, I'd recommend Tom's Waterfront Paradise.

  • Toms place is a mini oasis!! Myself and three other ladies stayed the night on our way down from NH to Myrtle Beach for a girls getaway trip. After reading lots of positive reviews knew we would be in good hands, and we were more pleased than we expected! The grounds & cabin are amazing, you can see how much work and effort Tom puts into his property! He is such a nice guy! Made it easy to feel comfortable. We exchanged stories, laughs and we even showed him how to work a selfie stick! We had a blast in the short time we were there! Only spent the night but we all wished we could have stayed longer. We had a wonderful breakfast & we were actually sad to leave. I would come back here in a heart beat & make an annual trip to Tom's! This place is that cool & he makes you feel at home. Great place to get away, Highly recommended!!

  • 50+ rave reviews cannot be wrong - and they weren't. Tom welcomed me with a cold beer and made a root beer float for my wife, so he had us from jump street . Highlights from our stay include: Positive: - Tom is as accessible as you would like him to be. He is happy to socialize and share his wealth of knowledge about the Reedville area with you, but we were also free to relax in peace and quiet in the adirondack chairs on his dock or in the hammock overlooking the water. - His property is a gem - the pictures do not lie. We enjoyed walking the woods, kayaking Whays creek, and relaxing by the koi pond waterfall while watching the hummingbirds. - Fresh blue crabs right out of the creek - 'nuff said. - Our two dogs may have enjoyed the property more than we did - Tom was very accommodating with them. They will be submitting their own reviews after they awake from their slumber brought on by running the property for two days. - Tom makes a mean breakfast indeed, although you may need to kayak a few hours to work it off. - When Tom tells you his house is your house, he truly means it. We were free to use the kitchen, grill, fishing poles and kayaks whenever we felt the need, no matter what time of day. I think the only way to upset Tom would be to not treat the house as your own. Negative: - Tom refused to sell us his property. We highly recommend a visit to Waterfront Paradise Crows Nest Cove . The picturesque surroundings combined with an amazingly friendly and hospitable host were just what we were looking for in a getaway from Northern Virginia. We are happy to know Tom and consider him a dear friend after our two night stay.

  • Everything you've read is true. Tom is an amazing host and his place is beautiful, serene and just plain awesome :) My husband, my dog and I spent 4 wonderful days there and honestly we wish we could've stayed longer. The house is very comfortable and homey, the pond is really amazing, the water is beautiful and the fact that you can make a fire each night is awesome, my husband spent a whole afternoon reading and relaxing there and said it was amazing. And Tom is a wonderful host, he hung out with us and also gave us some space and privacy, he even cooked us a delicious breakfast and he was incredibly warm and interesting :) We are planning on coming back next year and absolutely recommend Tom and his beautiful place!

    Ariadna2016-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Tom could not have been a more gracious, kind and generous host. Within 5 minutes of arriving at the house we felt completely relaxed and as though we had known our host forever. The place is without a doubt 100% over the top great. We were able to "do our own thing" or hang out with Tom and enjoy interesting and relaxed conversation. At Toms place you can be who you are and do whatever you want to at any time of the day. We kayaked and fished the creek, river and "almost" the bay. This is the place to kick back and relax and feel at home away from home with plenty of added surprises that you will love. Thanks Tom, we will see you again soon.

  • Great location. Cozy, Clean, and Comfortable for the six of us. Dan was very helpful and promptly answered all of our questions. We had a wonderful family vacation. About Tangier Island: "Each place has its' own depth, character and spirit" The community of people on Tangier Island are welcoming, proud of their heritage, and are an example of what it means to live in true community.

  • Dan's place was great! A+++ The people of Tangier were very welcoming and the house was everything that Dan said it would be. Very comfortable and inviting. Would certainly stay there again!

  • Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Mimosa Cottage. Everything in the listing was accurate, Dan was prompt with communication, and accessing the house was straightforward. Tangier was a nice place to visit and I would recommend the cottage for any group up to 6 who is looking to relax and enjoy a different way of life.

    Will2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tangier island and mimosa cottage is a perfect getaway for a family vacation. Our five year old children LOVED everything about the island. Dan was a great host and made sure we had a memorable stay. Highly recommend

    Alex2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Dan called the day before we arrived to make sure all was good to go. Mimosa cottage was bigger than we expected and reasonably clean. Everything was there that you would need. Neighborhood was quiet and people on the island were quite friendly. Would surely stay at Mimosa again should we make a return visit.

The house is on south end of West ridge close to Tangier's mile-and-a-half long beach. It is 3-bedroom, 1 1/2 bath with a den and flat panel, utility with washer and dryer, and full kitchen.
The Getaway is about 1900 square feet and has two stories. The 1st floor has kitchen, den, utility room, master bedroom and half-bath. The upstairs has two bedrooms and a full bath/shower.
The Getaway is on the southern end of Tangier Island. Less than 500 people live here. It is a historic site from which the British launched their unsuccessful attack on Baltimore. The Getaway sits about 100 yards from a beautiful mile-long beach at the southern tip of the island.
  • Patsy was wonderful and told us what to do and where to eat. The house is within walking distance to the beach. Lorraine's has amazing corn bread and the Fisherman's Corner's flounder stuffed with crabmeat was delicious.

    Bridgett2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • The listing was accurate and the neighborhood was lovely. The whole island is actually the neighborhood because of its size and everyone was very nice and welcoming. The house was ready for us when we arrived and spacious enough for our 5 guests, although we could have have had a few more people - there were that many rooms and beds. Tangier is really a unique getaway and the beach was both beautiful, calm and mostly empty. A few things to keep in mind if you are staying the weekend: Bring water to drink! The tap water smelled like iron and wasn't tempting to drink. The ferry didn't mind that we had things to bring and there was plenty of room. Tangier has public purified water, however it was broken during our stay. The small shop has only liter bottles of water and they're expensive. Make a reservation for the ferry (we took the Sharon Kay III from Crisfield, MD). If you are leaving from Crisfield, you'll park your car in a public lot about 1.5 blocks from the dock. Obtain a parking permit for $5/night from either the police station or the tourist office. We liked the Sharon Kay III because it was only a 45 minute trip, compared to the larger cruises which took double the time for sightseeing. If you take those cruises I believe they have their own parking lots. Bring your own food. There's a Food Lion a mile or so before you get to the dock. If you want alcohol, you'll have to bring it with you as well - there's a liquor store between the Food Lion and the dock. The store on the island didn't have a great selection and was more expensive than the Food Lion. Rent a golf cart to take your luggage to and from the house. We were lucky with friendly neighbors that saw us confused on arrival and carrying too much luggage on departure and gave us a ride on their carts. We did rent a golf cart to take to the beach on our first day. Bring bug spray - there are flies on the beach (if the wind is right) and they were both annoying and painful bites. Patsy recommended Deep Woods Off and I didn't listen, but wish I would have! Tangier is really a neat place to visit. It's a small island where we met only kind people. It was a unique getaway.

    Julie2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This house truly felt like a home and not just a rental. It was perfect and had plenty of room. We really enjoyed sitting on the swing and watching all the locals go by in the evening and loved visits from a four legged local named Jackson! You never know real quiet until you are in a place with no traffic, that was amazing. Patsy is a wonderful host making sure we had lots of information on what to do and places to eat. Robin was a delight meeting us at the boat and giving us more local information. I highly recommend Island Girl!

    Adrienne2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Tangier Island is a very interesting place and Patsy's house was a great home base to explore it! The beach is close to the house and is lovely, the water and sunset were both great. The bug are intense, so be prepared. The whole island was very hot, as there is very little shade. You will definitely want to rent a golf cart to bring your stuff to the house and to explore. We brought most of our own food but went to the local restaurant and had ice cream in town. It's a very small town that closes when the ferries go back to the mainland. Definitely worth checking out but you can see all of the island pretty quickly!

  • In our stay at the Island Girl Getaway my friends and I immediately felt part of the community. Tangier Island is a special and beautiful place, and Patsy's lovely home made a great base from which to enjoy it.

  • The house was super cute, clean, and the view of the Bay spectacular!

    Shannon2016-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • I only have good things to say about Patsy and Doug. They are absolutely wonderful people, and made us feel extremely welcome in their beautiful home. It's a quaint place, with plenty of space for the five people we had staying there. The home is situated in a quiet corner of a quiet island, very close to the beach. We found it very well maintained and clean, with all the amenities we could possibly need--AC, plenty of stovetop space, and a big fridge for all the fresh crabs we bought and cooked up later. Patsy was always easy to reach and responded to all our inuqiries rapidly. Since she wasn't on the island when we arrived, she gave us the contact info for her housekeeper, who lives two doors down. This was extremely helpful when we needed to both find a place to buy fresh crabs and the pots to cook them in! Patsy's great advice about Tangier helped us make the most of our trip. This really is an incredible place--extremely relaxing. The beach is clean and beautiful, and the water is warm. Besides that, the food is extraordinary.

The Quietness of the island and the beautiful scenery around the waters edge.
Located on the very quaint island of Tylerton, which makes up one of the 3 communities of Smith Island, MD . Enjoy the streets where there are no cars or trucks just the foot paths of the islanders. This home overlooks the harbor . it is my personal home decorated with Island memories of my family that has lived on Smith Island for 400 years. ( founded 1608) I am a 16th generation native, the flow of the house leaves you with a feeling of completeness. everything in the house and the GAS grill outside! also I have a dock in front of the house as mark on the attached map. Sometimes I am there, if so I will make sure you have the perfect visit! If I am not there it is like visiting or renting a home in the OBX . The people, the seafood, Drum Point markets unique foods and finds and their crab cakes are world renowned!!! The store has everything needed, except alcohol, leave the food home and get your supplies there. the island is very small so biking and, walking are best on the pebble roads. Make sure you contact me personally so that i can customize your trip to make it the best ever!! MOST ASKED QUESTIONS: Is there a grocery store? YES, its the only store on the island, DRUM POINT MARKET, but has everything and i mean everything, produce, seafood, canned goods, meats, cheeses etc.. It does NOT sell alcohol. Contrary to listings on the internet, The store hours are ONLY 10-3 monday through Saturday. Where can we swim? The county dock is the best place to swim. It has ladders and the water is about 15 foot deep. Is there church services on Sunday? Yes we are a Methodist community, but our services are compared to a non denominational service, ALL are welcome. Do I have bikes or Kayaks? No and No, BUT my neighbor has 2 kayaks that my guests are free to borrow as long as they put them back the way they found them. As for bikes, the island is very small and can be walked around in 10 minutes. How far is the house from the Ferry or How do I get to the house? You are about 1 block from the main dock so usually walking is best, BUT we can arrange for Eddie Corbin to meet you in a golf cart to help you get to the house. What time does the ferries LEAVE the island? 7am daily and then again at 3:30pm winter hours are subject to change Do I need to bring linens, towels etc.? No, I charge a cleaning fee to accommodate this need, pack light. Can I order seafood, more specifically oysters and crabs? Yes, please let me know upon your arrival to make the connection for you. Other questions, please ask anyone you see everyone is very willing to help you out, don't be shy!! Where is the WI FI password? its in the welcome book. Verizon is my provider and is not real great, usually you need to reboot daily. the modem is on the TV cabinet. Can we arrive in our own boat? Yes I have a private dock in the harbor approximately 100 feet from the house, there is no electric or water connections for the boat. Where do I catch the ferry . Capt Larry Lairds ferry boat is docked at THE END of main street in Crisfield. This area is called the depot. His boat is named the CAPT JASON II. his phone number is (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Where do I leave my car? Ask Captain Larry for directions when you arrive
A tiny hamlet in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. a place to completely unwind and relax and breathe the fresh salt air...a place to just "get away from it all "
  • Duke was an exceptional host and went out of his way for our stay. We arrived to a chilled bottle of wine to celebrate our occasion. He was easy to get in touch with and helped coordinate a handful of activities for our stay - even calling the day before to ensure we had all the proper information we needed. His home is beautiful, perhaps the nicest on the island. We'd highly recommend staying at Duke's place. You won't be disappointed. p.s. Pick up and read the book, 'An Island Out of Time' during your stay. Wonderful read about the history of the island.

  • Honestly I did not know what to expect other than the promise of being "off the grid" for a few precious days with my teenage son and daughter. No (URL HIDDEN) (URL HIDDEN) noise... and we all put away our phones, etc for the duration!!! The pictures did not do Duke's place justice...possibly one of the most comfortable places I/we have ever stayed and very quickly we felt right at home! Smith Island, really three islands in one, is a throwback to a more simple time, and we found ourselves in the midst of a working crabbing village...and while some might not appreciate that we simply loved it! The people are the REAL DEAL...genuinely friendly and courteous and seemed glad we had come to visit! We thank Captain Larry, who ferried us over, and Duke's Mom and Patty at the Drum Point Market, who fed us the worlds best crabcakes and introduced us to the amazing 7-layer Smith Island Cake. Thanks to Missy for taking us on a boat tour of the area and of course the fishing!!! Special thanks to Ron and Brian and his Dad for showing us a little of the life of a (URL HIDDEN) truly gave us a greater appreciation for what you do!!! We look forward to seeing you all again really soon! Greenhead flies be damned!!! lol

  • Amazing place! We loved it. I can certainly imagine coming back someday with the whole family. Tastefully decorated. Comfortable couches. Plenty of open spaces but cosy corners too. Lots of spots to dine inside or on the screened porch. A nice assortment of reading material, magazines, maps, and local interest books. For those who need to remain connected, there's good wifi and cable TV. Powerful air conditioning was a relief as we were traveling while humidity and temperatures were high. I liked our bedroom and it's view of the docks, waterway, and marshland. Sunrise is visible off to the right and the sunset on the far side of the island casts a golden hue on the marshes. The dock shanties show various stages of repair and weathering. You can tell life has been tough living on the water. I'm so glad we chose to stay in Tylerton. The neighbors and watermen are really friendly. The laid back atmosphere was just what I was hoping for. I'm glad we brought bug spray because during the hottest time of day (when everyone else was carefully staying indoors) the bugs got a bit aggressive. When the breeze picked up in the evening, the bugs were gone and we could enjoy a lovely sunset just 2 minutes walk from "Dukes Place", as everyone around here refers to it. The suggested boat tour by Missy was not available during our 3 day visit, but Eddie was around with his boat to take us to see the pelican rookery and later give us a lift over to Ewell for an afternoon. A short 2 minute walk to Drum Point Market got us the best crab cakes and freshly made Smith Island Cake. The best ever! A $20 ferry delivered us to and from Crisfield and only took 45 minutes.

  • Smith Island is a peaceful, relaxing and serene place to unwind from the stresses of city life. We loved all of the kind people! Dwight's home is beautiful. It feels so welcoming, and the decoration is amazing. The porch is the perfect place to hang around with friends or family. Be sure to book a boat tour with Eddie. We asked Eddie to take us to Ewell for lunch followed by a 2nd boat tour to Pelican Island. You won't want to miss Pelican Island - it's a must do for nature and bird lovers! Dwight will also order fresh steamed crabs for you, but you need to let him know ahead of time. They are delivered right to the door! Drum Market is a short walk from the house. It's a grocery store, gift shop, bakery and restaurant all in one! The crab cakes are the best we've ever had! Thanks for a wonderful stay Dwight! We plan to return next year :-)

  • Smith Island is a wonderful place to experience. Without the opportunity to spend several days at an AirBnB like Longbranch, I don't think someone can begin to appreciate what a treasure it is. The history, the close knit community, and the Waterman culture have shaped this unique treasure. Add to that a beautiful, comfortable, and well equipped home like this, and I only wish I could add an extra star or two. We arrived by boat, and I would suggest that having the freedom to ply the waters around the island enhances the experience greatly. This is a community that lives by and on the water. My only suggestion to guests is to bring along any goodies or special meal items. The local store was open from 9 till 3 and had plenty of essentials (and incredible crab cakes), but the selection was limited.

    Art2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Duke waited for us at the dock and walked us around town. It was super helpful that he gave us a call the day before our visit to make sure we'd get on time to the right boat. The house itself is fantastic. It is large, very comfortable, and nicely decorated with Smith-island artifacts. This is an absolute gem. We had a fantastic time kayaking around Smith island and lounging in the screened-in porch. Do bring some bug spray!

    Dennis2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. The place is very comfortable. The porch was great to handout out and enjoy the sea breeze. The wind chime was wonderful, very relaxing. Really enjoyed the our walks around the island and the beautiful sunset. Duke is great host, friendly!

  • Gretchen's place is homey and comfy. Comfortable beds and beddings. All you every need to have in the kitchen. Nice house layout, providing lots of privacy. The beauty of the place is in the nature that surrounds it. Gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. Pelicans, crabbing boats and friendly people.

  • This house is such a beautiful old country home with excellent beds. Gretchen is a pleasure to communicate and deal with and this island and the village of Tylerton is very special.

  • Smith Island is an amazing place to visit and Pauline's Cottage is a great house to rent while there. Our trip from Crisfield was scenic and Captain Larry was very helpful with suggestions and Island information. Drum Point Market is steps from the cottage and we were able to get dinner for later and we were happy to find out that they do take charge cards there. We contacted Eddie Corbin for a boat ride to Ewell and the Pelican Rookery- that was an unforgettable, one of a kind experience! Mary Ada welcomed us and told us about her Smith Island Cakes- and each of us was able to purchase one. The sunset was spectacular and the beds were comfortable (as reported by every review I read). We had spotty cell phone service and Tv was difficult to watch- but we didn't miss it at all. The boat ride back to Crisfield at 7am was fun as we got to drop off the school children at Ewell! Can't wait to return for a longer stay!

  • Gretchen and Kristen were extremely responsive and helpful in preparing for our trip. We felt well informed and prepared for all of the charming idiosyncrasies of life in Tylerton on Smith Island. It was wonderful to spend time in a place with virtually no cars - quiet and peaceful. The house was spotless, well-appointed, and extremely comfortable. Everything was easy to find and everyone we met in the community was welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed a tour around the island in a skiff with a local waterman, lunch at the Drum Point Market, and a wonderful meal prepared by Kristen and delivered to the house. The sunsets are stunning. It was a bit buggy that time of year, but nothing insect repellent couldn't deal with. We hope to return sometime!

  • My dad and I planned a last-minute trip to Smith Island in the off season, calling around the night before we intended to go. We contacted a motel in Ewell that was closed for the season; they called Gretchen about our inquiry, she called me to let me know that her house was available, and made sure it was all prepared for us the next day! The house was cozy and lovingly kept with a big, well-stocked kitchen, that kind of house that fits many people yet still feels cozy and intimate with only two. Just about all the residents who remain in this isolated community are here because they genuinely love the community and culture on the island, and it is a joy to meet each of them. Take a walk around, and also hop on the 3-seater high-riding kayak in the shed to explore the shallow marshes or journey to the nearby town of Rhodes Point (you can buy a map of kayaking trails in the general store). A warm spell in March was the perfect time to go, as everyone is still around town gearing up for the crabbing season starting April 1; in the summer most men are busy all day every day. A couple of notes: The afternoon boats run irregularly in the off-season and you might not know if it's running until a few hours beforehand even if you are in close touch with Larry (the ferry captain). It wasn't running, so we ended up staying an extra night to take the morning boat the following day (and are very glad we had that extra precious time on Smith!). And, leave expectations of decent cell service behind, at least for Verizon...look forward to life unplugged. :)

  • This is a secret gem. A unique experience and the only way to experience Smith Island. Expect to meet some of MDs finest citizens and nicest people.

  • Gretchen was incredibly accommodating for myself and my lady for her birthday getaway. Although she was very busy with both family and work she took the time to set us up right for the weekend on Smith Island, an incredible and historic small civilization unto its own! The house was well prepared for guests and a great deal for its size, when her page states it can fit 11 it means just that! Lots of room and very comfortable. Extra props for Gretchen for calling ahead to make sure there would be crab cakes waiting for us at the stellar lil' market on the island....cakes made from crab hauled in that very morning, best I've ever had! The ride out is very pretty as well and the local dialect, although sometimes hard to understand, is a marvel to have survived since colonial times. Very highly recommended!

  • Amazing get away, really get away, lol. Islanders were super nice, and the bunnies were very sweet. TV was not big enough for group to watch. Kitchen was super stocked and a great place to cook and have meals together. Beds were extremely well appointed and super comfy. Be prepared to be off grid as cell service is spotty. The Smith Island cake totally lived up to the hype. Boat trip to Ewell was charming and we had a nice lunch and golf cart around the island.

  • We and our 9 month-old enjoyed a lengthy stay at Patty's place. We were there Monday - Saturday and it was super quiet during the week (with the occasional exception of our crying baby), with a few folks nearby showing up for the weekend. Someone was staying in the main house above us but we hardly knew it. Patty equipped and decorated thoughtfully and beautifully. Everything we forgot or didn't bring was either available at Patty's or at Wal-Mart. :) There were even extra toys in one of the cabinets that our daughter enjoyed. Our overall goal was not to do much and just enjoy ourselves, and this was the perfect place to do that. Beautiful views & sunsets. I brought an extension cord and we cooked breakfast outside on the table several mornings. We also enjoyed eating and exploring in places like Chincoteague, Wachapreague, and Onancock. There are definitely mosquitos and other biting insects around dusk / sunset, so we either covered up with clothes or spray or stayed inside then. But the rest of the day was usually fine. I also went biking in the area and enjoyed that. We had the windows open for several days until it got muggy & damp, but were able to close the windows and use the AC and be just as comfortable. Patty is super-responsive to communication and will do whatever she can to help. Next time I visit I would enjoy kayaking or fishing if we'd had time.

  • Our stay at your place was wonderful and beyond our expectations. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised with the private beach at our doorstep. The house was perfectly located in a quiet area, perfect when you want peace and quiet. It was nicely decorated and comfortable. Patty's husband greeted us and helped us with information about the area. We hope to return again. Thank you. Anderson/Pamela/Benjamin

  • Peaceful place about 45 minutes from the beach. Secluded and tucked away from the little town of Onancock. Patty was wonderful!

  • The cottage at Crystal Beach was quiet and private. Very nice place for the short get-a-way for our family. The 3 kids very much enjoyed the beach and sandy back yard. Thanks again Patty

  • Patty was such a wonderful host and was so nice and hospitable! Her cottage is perfect, cozy, and in such an amazing little historic Virginia town. We biked all day through the wilderness into town (only a few miles away). And the house is right on the beach, so it was so much fun to be able to walk along the shore of Chesapeake Bay and explore the marshlands. Couldn't have asked for a better getaway :)

    Tori2014-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Patty did a wonderful job keeping in touch and making us feel ready to enjoy a wonderful getaway to the Eastern Shore. The cottage is adorable and beautifully appointed. Patty obviously has a great sense of interior decorating style! The private beach is serene and beautiful. The neighborhood was so quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the indoor and outdoor dining areas and had just the most wonderful retreat. We look forward to coming back! Thank you for helping us make wonderful Chesapeake Bay memories!

  • Beautiful cottage, lovely private beach, fantastic day trips to Tangier and Onancock.

    Karen2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was perfect for us! This a/c worked very well. The full sized beds were comfy & there is a futon too. We discovered books, games and brochures for local restaurants and a notebook full of information. But hands down the backyard, humming birds, dragon flies, pagoda with benches, beach and the amazing views were the best! My 14 year old son snorkeled for hours. Our last night there was a thunderstorm across the bay that was better than any fireworks. Patty was very helpful and prompt with all my pre trip questions. We left torn between returning or exploring some new destination but we know that we are going on another vacation. This was the perfect adventure for our family!

I believe in actually having an experience when travelling! Be comfortable while experiencing life thru the eyes of an artist. The house has the flavor of the island life. Windows that catch breezes and airy spaces that feel welcoming.
    This is a non-smoking house.
Just being out and chatting with locals can be inspiring. They are friendly and kind. Used to be tons of feral cats- now a few, turkeys roam, ducks roam..then if you walk by the marsh... so many beautiful marsh birds to see. I recommend Harborside for eating out... I always get the tilapia sandwich. It is good but there isn't much to compare to... you can get crab cakes and soft shells in season too. Check out the extra services sheet I sent. Those things are all very unique to the island.
  • The place was charming and quaint. My boyfriend and I were looking to get away and off the grid, this was the perfect place. The house is gorgeous and funky, a complete artist's bungalow. The neighborhood is adorable and great to ride bikes around. She had canoes that you can take and go explore the islands near by. It is one of the best trips I have ever had.

  • Laureen was a wonderful host. She was great in providing helpful information regarding the travel to the island and things to bring and to do on the island and replied quickly to all our questions. She made it easy for us to find her house once we were on the island and made the extra effort of making some phone calls to get us some helpful information regarding the ferry etc. Her house was clean, bright and cozy. Everything we needed (such as towels etc.) was provided. The neighborhood felt very safe (well, it's on an island so nothing bad to be expected happening anyway) and only few minutes walking distance to the ferry dock. Our time on the island was very quiet. Being on the island was a great opportunity to wind down, slow down and just enjoy being away from the hectic world for a few days. There are some things to do on the island during the winter, but mostly we just read, made walks or a bike ride and hung out in the house. We would definitely recommend Laureen's place and would stay there again should we ever come back to Smith Island. Thank you Laureen for making our stay on Smith Island awesome.

  • Laureen was an amazing host and has a beautiful home filled with light and beautiful art. The island itself is a wonderful please to visit and recharge. I hope to visit again very soon!

  • We had a great time visiting Smith Island. The house was delightful, and Laureen went out of her way to make sure our stay was pleasant. Both of our children loved their beds - one was in a loft above the Master bedroom, which was also in a loft. The other slept in a fluffy, extremely comfortable feather bed. There were two canoes available, and our son was excited that one was small enough for him to paddle. Laureen also found a bike to fit each of us, so we could all pedal around the island. The kids loved making a campfire in the backyard and making s'mores. We would stay in this house again in a heartbeat, only next time we would plan on staying a whole week!

    judith2015-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience! Very good communication with Laureen who even though was off the Island made it extremely easy for my wife and I to get there (direction, logistics with boat, local recommendation...). Very warm welcome. Quiet cottage, with a great artsy taste. Laureen lets guest use the bikes and canoe which was a great plus. She had also arranged to order delicious crab meat from a local fisherman which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

  • We really don't know what to say, we are speechless with our visit to Smith Island. Laureen's home is unbelievable. You will never find another home on Smith Island that compares! If you don't stay here there's something wrong. Sorry we always speak the truth. Even though she was not present, since we booked the entire house, it was as if she was here personally and she offered her personal home to our use and enjoyment. The Islanders are unbelievable. Barry Bruce took care of us on an awesome tour of the marshlands and steamed up fresh crab for us. Terry Tyler could not have been more accommodating bringing us onto the mainland and back again. Laureen offers her canoe and bikes to ride around the island. We've been all over the world and this was probably the most relaxing time we've had in years. If you're looking for an escape from everything with awesome peace and quiet, please make sure you book time in this wonderful artistic Cottage and prepare to decompress to your heart's desire. Laureen, thank you for an awesome time. We will be back and we will book with you my dear. Smith Island has everything that they say and promote that it has. It's amazing, these are the hardest working people you will ever meet, but yet, they invite you into their home. God bless and enjoy your trip to Smith Island. It truly is the most relaxing vacation you will have.

  • Laureen was a wonderful host. Her eclectic home is beautifully laid out for reading, games, and overall relaxing. We were looking for a place o spend our one year wedding anniversary completely "off the grid" and Smith Island and Laureen's home was the place to be for that! One of the things I loved most about this place is there was no TV (at Laureen's) and little to no cell phone reception on the Island. We spent the whole weekend reading, riding bikes, and canoeing and the home has everything needed for that. Laureen's amazing welcome letters outline everything you'll need to know. When she says its a "fully functioning home" she means it. We brought everything we thought we might need from olive oil to aluminum foil, but the house already had plenty of spices, coffee, etc., which was a great surprise, but you will definitely need to bring the main components of all your dishes as there really isn't a grocery store on the island. The home has a firepit in the back yard, but Smith Island is very buggy (at least for my husband who is a bug magnet), so we didn't get around to using it. Make sure take an opportunity to watch the sunrises/sets from her porches and the dock right down the street. We have already recommended this place to all of our friends and family looking to just get away from everything.

    Kristen 2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at this charming bungalow on Smith Island! Laureen was very accommodating and it was always easy to reach her about anything. This was my family's first time visiting Smith Island, so I was grateful for some of the tips shared (bring your own groceries! Plan your meals ahead of time!) Some of the things I loved about this house: -The bikes and canoe available were a great resource. We used these every day. -The personality and character of Laureen and her family were felt in their home! It's such a great experience to stay someplace with character and expression. It's one of my favorite things about airbnb; it feels like you are using a friend's place instead of being in a boring hotel room. -There are great porches/patios/decks here. One off the front door where we ate dinner, one off the back where we ate breakfast, and one upstairs where we watched sunsets and clouds. -Great shower! -There is a great collection of puzzles. We spent our evenings doing jigsaw puzzles and talking after putting the kid to bed. Bliss! -Plenty of toys and things for small children. The play kitchen was a big hit with my 4 year old. -There are lots of windows, wonderful stained glass panels and open space in the house so it feels very open and sunny. -There was a flock of ducks that would walk by the house every afternoon! Loved them! Things of note: -Like many homes, there were some projects that were in the middle of being worked on. Not a big deal, but we did find some loose nails on the porch and there are some stacks of tiles and whatnot in one of the bedrooms. -This place is best suited for a couple, a family, or a single person. There is no door on the downstairs bedroom, and the bathtub is in a common open area in the house (not the bathroom). To sum up, I would go back to Smith Island in a heartbeat and I would definitely want to stay at Laureen's place again. Thank you Laureen!

Near the quaint town of Onancock, enjoy a relaxing retreat in our home overlooking the Bay. In a waterfront community, you will have access to our private beach just steps away from the front door. Kayak and Bikes are available to our guests.
  • Great communication, quick to respond. Loved the quiet neighborhood and close access to the bay. Our family liked the extra amenities such as internet, kayak, bikes, and grill. The porch was a wonderful location for our pups, we appreciated this being a pet-friendly house. Sunsets from the crows nest were lovely and a great spot to hang out in the evenings. We had a wonderful experience at Debbie's house and hope to return again!

  • We enjoyed our stay at Bay View cottage. The house is located in a waterfront community with a private beach. It's a few miles outside of Onancock, VA, a town of 1300 on Virginia's eastern shore. The house is charming, quiet, and well-equipped for guests. It was a great place to relax, which is what we came to do. We used the house as a base to explore the eastern shore of Virginia. Our original plan was to do some road cycling, but it rained almost every day we were there. No worries. There were plenty of other things to do. We made trips to Chincoteague NWR, Assateague Island, Kiptopeke State Park, and the Eastern Shore of Virginia NWR. Everything was within 60 minutes driving time. Onancock is a charming little town, with a surprising number of restaurants for its size. We had lunch at Janet's and dinner at Mallards and Bizzotto's. We liked Bizzotto's so much we went back a second time. Excellent food and service. The mussels were amazing. We were told that the Corner Bakery and Charlotte Hotel were both excellent, but did not have an opportunity to try them. Debbie was a fantastic host. She was very responsive. Even though she had a Sunday morning check out, she had the house ready for us to check in on Sunday afternoon. The only problem we had during our stay was with the satellite TV system. Debbie's husband called within 5 minutes of my text message to her and walked me through the steps to re-boot the system. I don't think you could ask for a better host. We highly recommend staying at Bay View Cottage. In fact, we may return this fall for the Seagull Century in October.

    Bruce2016-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with 3 adults and 4 kids between the ages of 5 and 9. The home was plenty big enough to accommodate all of us and has a wonderfully sized yard for playing catch, a roof top deck for star gazing, and a huge screened porch where we all ate and played cards and board games. Onancock is not the ideal location for children but it was only 45 minutes to Chincoteague and other spots where we went to the beach, hiked, toured lighthouses and the space center, saw wild ponies, and did other child friendly activities. The neighborhood beach is small but a great place to go for a quick swim or for using the kayaks. However, as the owner explained once we arrived, there are several sharp and dangerous tree stumps or old dock posts sticking out of the sand there so DO NOT go there at high tide as they are unseen under the water! It is great at low tide though! As this was my first Air BnB stay as well as my first time to the Eastern Shore, I had many questions. Debbie was wonderful and patient with all of my questions and answered them all within just a few hours. Check in and out was a breeze. The house was VERY clean upon arrival. The bath linens were a bit worn but clean. The kitchen was well stocked with just about everything you need for preparing meals (we ate two meals a day at the house). The neighbors were very friendly and the neighborhood was very quiet and residential in nature. We would return for sure! Thank you!

    Jennifer2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie was very friendly and very responsive to our questions! She was prompt as possible in helping us deal with a washing machine malfunction! Her home is very attractively decorated and has lots of eye appeal! It was great to have a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and had excellent air-conditioning! The fireplace was a nice touch, but we didn't use it since it was warm weather! It is in a quiet neighborhood with beautiful trees and peek-a-boo views of Chesapeake Bay.

    Kathryn2016-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous view of the water (across the street!). Lovely space, plenty of room. Perfect for a low key family vacation.

  • Tucker was great, he was always quick to respond and very helpful, his place was clean and exactly what my friends and I were looking for also for the price, there is nothing better

    Ramsey2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Tucker's property is a historic, rustic, charming gem. It is spacious and clean with amenities that provide for a comfortable stay. Our family of 12 had a great time exploring all of the nooks and crannies in the house and spent some time looking at all of the books and wondering about the people in the pictures scattered about the house and cottage. There's plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors, whether you want to sit and hang out or be more adventurous with kayaking, crabbing, or fishing. Jimmy and Pat were quick to respond to our requests and were willing to offer up services as needed. It's the perfect place to relax, restore, and reconnect!

  • Beautiful property. Secluded, great for our company retreat. We had eight, and everyone had sufficient space and privacy. We built a fire out back, played frisbee, and Jimmy brought over some kayaks for us to use. The screened in porches are nice, plenty of shade for the hot days. The inside is basic. The exterior of the house could use a little love, but otherwise two thumbs up. Would recommend it if you have a big group and want to be on the water.

  • A wonderful retreat right on the most beautiful part of the Chesapeake Bay by Onancock Creek. Gorgeous house with tasteful and fresh furnishings, very comfortable, relaxed setting for everyone to participate. We rented 3 kayaks and they were so much fun. The moonlight over the water was a dreamscape, and the sunrises, sunsets were pure joy. We made a large bonfire and made s'mores and sang by the moonlight. Truly memorable! We will return!

  • Very charming house(s) with amazing views. Location is very remote and furniture is a bit old and could use some sprucing up for sure, but overall such a darling property. Ask Jimmy (the caretaker) about the neighbor who has a boat and will take you out to tangier island for the day, absolute highlight of our trip and the nicest guy to boot! they have 2 kayaks for use which was great and a great dock for fishing and crabbing-- just remember to pack the bug spray :)

  • We had a wonderful time with family and friends at Tucker's place. The location is idyllic and the house is a lovely piece of history. The property manager Jimmy helped us out with some kayak rentals which helped make our stay complete. We hope to return soon!

  • James' condo in Crisfield provided us a great stay over the July 4th weekend. Three couples (6 people) filled each of the three rooms. The area is quiet and it was a welcomed change of scenery from our hustle and bustle lives. Walking out on the marina to watch the sunset was great. The pool closes at 9p and is filled with families and kids, so it was not as inviting for a bunch of post-college, early professional types. But nonetheless, the area was great. I highly recommend walking over to the Tiki bar just down the street for some cheap drinks and food. It was a good option to have. Overall it was a nice weekend and I would certainly recommend it for a family or group getaway.

    Patrick2013-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • James was able to accommodate me at the last minute notice. The check-in process was convenient with instructions on where to pick up the keys, etc. Positive experience: The rental apartment is spacious and airy. It overlooks the marina and has gorgeous sunset views. It easily accommodates 6 people, and maybe more if you are willing to crash on the couch. The kitchen has all the basic utensils to feed a small family. The beds are comfortable, with plenty of linens. Not-so-positive experience: Although the apartment appeared clean when we walked in, we spent the next 45 minutes chasing away about a dozen flies inside the living room and the kitchen. We found many more the next day and it turned out to be a bit annoying. The apartment water supply appears to be softened and feels a bit soapy when you shower. We wanted to check out the pool but it appeared a bit dirty so we skipped it. This is not a negative to the rental place, but the neighborhood seems a bit dilapidated and there is really nothing much to do unless you have a boat on the marina. We did not feel unsafe, however don't expect to plan any activities in the immediate neighborhood (unless, you're boarding a boat to Tangier or Smith Island). A final note: This was a family reunion and there were few elderly people in our party. It was brought to my attention (few days after the check-out) that a lid was found damaged/broken. The host charged me $10 towards replacement, which I agreed and obliged to pay. We packed all our trash in trash bags and left it inside the apartment. However, the host pointed out that there was a pot of rice left behind and he didn't seem happy about it. While I understand we may have overlooked cleaning that pot, we DO pay for cleaning as part our rental fees. We took very good care of his property and it is possible sometimes you may overlook something small since you are on vacation. I truly feel he could have been a little bit more accommodating considering the elderly folks in our party. It's suffice to say one time was enough for us.

  • My 5 friends and I loved our stay at James' condo! It is a very spacious and clean condo with great views of the marina. The kitchen is fully stocked and the condo in general had everything we needed for a 3 day weekend. James was very easy to communicate with before our stay (very responsive and helpful). Crisfield a great place for vacation if you're looking to get away from bustling cities--very quiet with a small town feel. The locals are very friendly too--one let us watch him and his son crab for over an hour and was happy to explain the process/share knowledge about crabbing with us. Although there are not any big beaches nearby, there are still opportunities to get in the water at the community Wellington beach and at Janes Island State Park.

  • Great condo. Could use some minor repairs. Lovely view. Would like to have more than 1 TV being there were 6 of us. Everything was clean and stocked. Would go back.

    Anna2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful surprise and relief to arrive at James' place after the Friday summer shore traffic - the condo completely blew our expectations. My group of 8 was more than comfortable in this 3-BR; we were surprised to find 2 baths (great with a larger group), 3 bedrooms, 4 beds, plus a pull-out couch! The kitchen was well-stocked and we easily cooked for all of us the entire weekend. A half screened-in/half open double balcony was West-facing for excellent sunset views over the marina and ocean. The pool was a nice perk, open until 9 pm, as was the parking below the building. The complex was very quiet, but we only had friendly encounters with neighbors. The Food Lion, liquor store, and beer & wine distribution center up the road served all our needs. The town was small and quiet, so we really relied on each other for entertainment - not a problem for us! There wasn't too much to do except take a boat cruise or explore the nearby parks - a good time definitely hinges on having good or bad weather. Luckily we had good weather and were able to keep busy. This is definitely a fishing/boating town - not a relax on the beach kind of place. The nearby Wellington Beach was fine for what we needed it for, but the water was Bay-like, murky and shallow. I would definitely look into a boat rental next time. James was very responsive and accommodating throughout the booking and stay process. He made a directory of all the local businesses for our reference, and the condo was clean and organized. I would absolutely come back. Thanks, James!

  • We had a 4 night stay in Crisfield .. The condo is as described very big, very comfortable with a gorgeous view. We swam in the pool each day .. lovely We enjoyed the area .. Had a boat trip to Tangier Island, a fun few hrs for lunch a whizz round on bikes, we went to Asseteague Island, the beach is vast & very pretty ... Saw the horses at a distance ! Overall a lovely relaxing few days. Thoroughly recommend this property.

    Niccie2013-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • There were a few communication hiccups in the beginning, but after speaking over the phone with James we were able to sort everything out. James' property was well-kept, quiet, and very spacious. We enjoyed our time there immensely. This particular property was advertised as a corner unit, though it wasn't one. It was still right on the water, however, with a great view of the docks from the condo's porch. I would recommend this beautiful condo for a relaxing stay in the Chesapeake area.

  • We loved this tranquil little waterfront cottage. It was homey and peaceful. The hosts were lovely and made our stay super comfortable and relaxing. We loved having access to watching the sun set over the water! Completely gorgeous! I hope I can come stay again soon!

  • Thanks for the relaxing and beautiful setting of your place! The studio was well stocked and comfortable. Thanks for the extras like a nice welcome snack in the fridge and the delicious breakfasts! The chickens never bothered us, the patio fireplace was enjoyable, the pier and waterfront view spectacular. We also appreciated the generosity of sharing the kayaks and other recreational equipment! Thanks!

  • Channing was a very welcoming and thoughtful host. I cannot even begin to describe the beauty of her property. She has turned a small cottage into a welcoming, bright, cozy experience. I over-pack on every trip and I had a space for everything. She has thought of every need. If you have forgotten something, rest assured that you will be covered. The town - charming, the food - delicious, the views - spectacular, the location - perfect and the host - wonderful. We look forward to planning a longer visit.

  • Thank you for everything!! The house was beautiful, the view was spectacular and Your timing made everything even better. At no point did we have to wait long periods of time for a reply or help. You guys are awesome!! Thanks again! *5 Stars

  • It was a nice getaway and Betty and Adam were very helpful. Thank you to share with us your little haven.

    Quynh-Giao2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • You won't believe how well Betsy and Adam went out of their way to make our little excursion to Crisfield the absolute best trip ever! The cottage was perfect, to include all furnishings, and the chicken in the freezer they provided was perfect for hand lining and potting for the abundant crabs off their dock! We will no doubt be booking with them in the future because in all honesty I've never experienced such incredible host! 6* stars even though the rating only goes up to 5! You will not be dissaointed, I promise you this! Tim and Penny Abe from Hagerstown, MD

  • Adam and Betsy's place was amazing!! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a quiet place with an amazing view! Felt right at home here!

    Angel2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, this was such a great location, it was extremely quiet, and having a few beers on the dock was just awesome. I had never been crabbing before, but they had chicken for bait, lines for doing it the old fashion way, which i caught at least 15 crabs by, by they were all too small, we did catch 5 crabs by using one of the traps they provided, I steamed these and it was a very cool experience. the place was cool, a full kitchen, and comfortable beds. and you can see the bay from the queen bed, which was just very cool. It was above my expectations, and while the weather cooperated, it was just awesome.

    Jordan2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • What an adorable place! Our family enjoyed two nights/three days here and truly had the best time! Betsy was a great communicator and available in a very timely manner for all of our questions! The Apt. is extremely clean and private. We loved being able to walk right out of the sliding glass door from the kitchen to the dock. We enjoyed crabbing from the dock (which we were very successful at) and being able to walk a few blocks to the beach which was perfect for kids! Upon arrival the house was full of kitchen/bathroom supplies and extra goodies which was so nice and thoughtful! There are a lot of little extras they provide and allow you to use as well which made our stay even better! If you're looking for a nice - clean getaway with water activities available right outside your door this is the spot for you! Thank you, Adam & Betsy!

  • Adam and Betcy's little bay appartment is clean and beautiful. A perfect vacation house! We enjoyed crabbing. Equipment for catching and cooking crabs was included! There are lots of crabs to catch! Most of them are blue and big. We had 18 for dinner. Delicious! We created memCentrally located in Queens within the town of Astoria. My stay was comfortable. Residence is a 15min walk from the M and R train which is only a 20min commute to Manhattan. The residence offers 2 beds and a kitchenette (similar to a studio apartment). Highly recommend for personal or business travels. would definetely come back.

My place is close to The water, the cruise boats to Tangier and Smith Island, Jane's Island Park, great seafood and restaurants, bike rides, swimming and our new state of the art Crisfield Public Library. . My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups. Extra fee for breakfast and any other services.
  • Despite the lack of excitement in Crisfield, our stay was made wonderful because of Troella's hospitality. She was very accommodating with our late arrival and greeted us with snacks and cookies. She made us feel as if we were at home and treated us like family. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time. Thank you Troella!

    Alisha2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Troella is a great host with a fantastic home and a very tasty healthy Breakfast. I would recommend My Fair Lady Bed & Breakfast to anyone that is looking for an exceptional place to stay.

  • We spent a lovely night at Troella's, everything was perfect! She is very friendly and hospitable. We will return. Thank you, Troella xx

    Margaret2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a unique bed and breakfast experience. Truella, the owner, is very personal in her approach. She is beyond gifted in the kitchen, with gourmet gluten free cooking. If you want to skip the romantic getaway and connect with other travellers over breakfast, staying at My Fair Lady is like visiting with the Greek grandmother you never knew you had. Quaint location, pretty decor, excellent food, and entertaining storytelling from a kind, loving, and experienced owner.

    Peter2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nice room with private bathroom. Landlord is nice person. Give us nice breakfast also. Very nice house. Worth the price.

    ping2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • My Fair Lady is a beautiful bed and breakfast with a loads of character. Troella the hostess made our stay memorable with the clean, comfortable accommodations, fascinating stories and delicious homemade, five star breakfasts. We recommend staying here and look forward to staying here again in the future.

    Michael2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The owner is friendly, she welcomed us and was happy to make restaurant recommendations. the house is nice, a little stuffy, but pretty. Though fairly quiet, The surrounding neighborhood is quite run down, lots of vacant dilapidated houses. Breakfast cost extra, which is rarely the case with the majority of B & B's, and this wasn't made known to us until arrival. The room was fine, the bed was comfortable and clean, the bathroom though had tile falling apart, and one of the bars of soap provided was previously used. The owner did offer us coffee in the morning in "to-go" cups as we left for the day. Overall, the owner was friendly, and the B & B was ok, but lacking in the comforting and quality amenities we were anticipating based on the description of the place.

    Caren2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • That was an experience like no other!!! Troella is a fantastic lady! Her place is gorgeous to say the least! I honestly do not know what to start this review with, as everything about that stay was absolutely amazing - from communication with Troella prior to arrival and during/past our stay, to the way Troella greets and treats her guests, gives great recommendations about places to visit/dine at, to the way she cooks and much more! She goes above and beyond for her guests - she offered us an upgrade to a spacious most beautiful room I have ever seen. I am always very particular about cleanness of rooms, and Troella's Victorian-style house, which is beautifully decorated by the lovely host, sparkles with cleanness and beauty. The way Troella cooks cannot be compared to anything - homemade food with fresh organic ingredients - I have never tasted anything better. Even though we were not supposed to get a breakfast with our reservation, Troella offered us an 11-course menu for no additional cost. After that she kindly offered to show us a few places we feared we would not be able to find on our own, which were way out of Troella's way, and despite being busy keeping the house so nice and clean in addition to other many great things she does, she drove with us 30 minutes away from her home just to make sure we knew where these places were. A huge bonus is how sweet and knowledgeable Troella is. She is considerate of every guest, gives personalized service to each person. I am overwhelmed with positive emotions after this weekend and regret to have stayed for only 1 night. But we are definitely coming back. If you plan a trip to VA, MD or anywhere in that area, I HIGHLY recommend that you stay at Troella's "My Fair Lady B&B", even if it's out of your way - there is nothing you will regret! I am starting to

If you want to prepare some of your own meals there is a fully stocked kitchen with essential spices, coffee, teas bottled water and snacks for your arrival. You are two blocks from Food Lion grocery store where you have the basic meats, produce etc. There are also two pharmacies, convenience stores and a fish market in town. You can bring your own movies for the DVD player or rent from the Red Box at Food Lion. Cable TV has several choices however no premium movie channels. You will also have a few games in the TV cabinet. There is a Bose radio/DVD player in the living room with a selection of some popular and classical music. The laundry closet is supplied with detergent for the washer and dryer. The roomy bathroom with a large walk in shower and grab bars is near the bedrooms. We supply linens for the kitchen, bath and bedroom as well as shampoo, cream rinse and paper products. Each of the two bedrooms are roomy with corner windows and comfy queen beds. Note the sleigh bed has a firm mattress. There are several books on hand about local history and a full array of travel brochures for your eastern shore experience . We have listed many areas of interest and their proximity in the Air BnB online Guidebook. We do not supply beach towels, chairs or umbrellas at this time. However you will find just about everything else needed to make this your vacation home away from home.
Crisfield is a small town... the waterfront dominates and is "the neighborhood". It is a short (less than a mile) leisurly walk to Wellington Beach or the city park/pier and waterfront library. Don't miss the new library and huge covered deck overlooking the Annemessex River! Hours are 11 am to 7 pm but closed on Sunday. You can find the morning newspaper, purchase a K-Cup and settle in on the deck with your coffee! Around town there are many gorgeous views of Tangier Sound or the Annemessex River. Breath taking sunsets sometimes so bright they light up the entire town! For an equally beautiful waterfront experience visit the park office at adjacent Janes Island State Park. Here you can linger near the water, launch a boat or rent a kayak. During the hot summer months the pitch from the tall loblolly pines scent the air, their shade makes for an nice walk or bike ride. During the summer season the park has weekly activities. Make sure you check in with them during your visit with us. Crisfield was recently chosen by Forbes Magazine as a "top 10 value waterfront community". Visitors can learn about the rich local and early American history at the J. Millard Tawes Museum. The museum is located at the end of Ninth St on Somers Cove. Here you will also find Cox's Crab Shanty, The Oyster Reef gift shop and possibly a volunteer for a walking tour. There is also a self guided walking tour with an accompanying brochure. You can find it on the Crisfield Heritage Foundation website. If you want to expand your knowledge of history, May to October take a day trip to Smith Island or Tangier Island. The Tangier boat, Steven Thomas, leaves from Somers Cove at the end of 10th street. The Captain Jason I, Captain Jason II and Island Belle go to Smith Island from the big city dock called "The Depot". Don't miss Tylerton and Drum Point Market's award winning crab cakes! All boats leave at 12:30 and return around 4:30. Tickets can be purched at those locations. If you are interested in water activities there is swimming at Wellington Beach. Favorite places to kayak are Wellington Beach to the Little Annemessex River, Janes Island State park (rent or bring yours) and the county launch at beautiful Coulburn Creek near Marion. If you kayak from the park to Flat Cap Beach pack a lunch, take a chair and towel. It is beautiful out there, you will face out to Tangier Sound. NOTE there is no kayaking within the big marina at Somers Cove only boating, the Coast Guard will give you an escorted exit! If you love to fish, charter fishing captains are at Somers Cove Marina or the Small Boat Harbour off Lorie Quinn Dr near the library. If you bring your boat, slips can be rented at Somers Cove Marina. They also have a nice waterfront pool. There is also a public boat launch with trailer parking and a great fish cleaning station at Somers Cove. Crisfield has several festivals throughout the summer season. Some are free and others charge an admission. The most popular are the J.M. Tawes Crab and Clambake held the third Wednesday in July and the National Hard Crab Derby, a three day event over Labor Day weekend. There are also the "Crisfield Art Strolls" held the fourth Saturday of each month from 4-7 pm, May to October. Good sources for local events are Somerset County Tourism. Maryland Tourism website, The Crisfield Story Project, Crisfield Events and Chesapeake Ghost Walks pages. We have many "seasons" here on the Eastern Shore. Crabbing season usually runs from April to October. Oysters run from October to March/April when watermen start switching over to crabbing. Rockfish or striper season comes and goes due to DNR rules. For ornithologists, bird watching is year around, but the big "birding season" is during the spring and fall migrations of April and October. Breath taking photography is year around! A description of the neighborhood wouldn't be complete without mentioning Maryland's official dessert, Smith Island cake and the Smith Island Baking Company. The bakery is located just a block and a half from your door on Chesapeake Avenue., stop for a slice of cake and ice cream! You can't miss it with the bright yellow and white decoration. If you are staying the week you can buy an entire cake to enjoy at home! If you decide to stay with us, several day trip suggestions can be provided at your request. There is always something to do here on the Eastern Shore!
  • Kathleen and Dave were awesome, and the house is an adorable and cozy getaway for the Eastern Shore. They were super communicative before we got there, and welcoming when we arrived. The house has some lovely midcentury modern furniture and a well-stocked kitchen, and we really enjoyed our week there.

  • What a great couple of days. We had planned to go camping, but the weather looked iffy, so we opted for a more weather resistant structure! The house was very clean, the kitchen large and well-appointed, and Kathleen and Dave were super nice! Their recommendations really helped us to make the most of our time in Crisfield. (And- Krispy Kreme donuts, popcorn, cookies, candy and bottled water was supplied as a welcome basket- fabulous!!!) Thank you Kathleen and Dave for a wonderful vacation spot. A special shout out to Fred the cat, who kept an eye on our kayaks, and was always ready for a pet and a talk! : )

  • Kathleen and Dave greeted us upon our arrival. The home was nice a cool as we arrived on a very hot day. The home was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The neighborhood was lovely and safe. We had a wonderful time going to the beach on Chincoteague Island, and kayaking in nearby bays and waterways.

  • This was a wonderful, quiet neighborhood that is perfect to get away from the city. Kathleen and Dave are very welcoming and always made sure you're able to get in contact with them if you ever needed anything. They are very flexible when you check in and check out which helped make our trip go smooth. The house was spotless when we got there and very cozy. They had a bunch of fliers in the house about things to do and places to eat with a map on the fridge which made that aspect very easy. We had a great time there.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy and well equipped cottage. It was the relaxing highlight during our 3-weeks-travel to Boston, New York and Washington where we stayed in cramped hotel- and motelrooms. Also our two teenage boys liked the highspeed wifi-connection ;-)! We highly recommend this cottage, thanks to Kathleen and Dave!

  • We greatly enjoyed our stay in Crisfield in the cottage. The home was very pleasant and a lovely home away from home. The house was clean and comfortable with cute decor. The location was perfect for riding bikes around the town, and accessing all of the things we wanted to do. We were able to visit Smith Island and Tangier Island as well as eat our way through a plethora of crab cakes and island favorites. We will be coming back. Our hosts were kind and informative which helped us to find our way around quite easily. Thank you for a fun and pleasant stay.

  • I'm really not sure how they do it. First, I'm staying for an extended period due to work int he area, and airbnb is such a nicer way to stay than hotels, especially when it starts to get into months. I'm gone one or two nights a week to go and se the family, and everytime i come back, the place is pristine. now i don't trash it, but i am very impressed at not just how clean it is, but how everything is laid out just so and nicely distributed. i.e. the cushions on the couch are always straightened, and the rug is always square. Now, i try not to leave a mess behind me, but still, I am always impressed when i walk in the door first thing that week.

  • This cozy little home is updated, clean & beautiful. It is a great place to stay to see Crisfield &other Eastern Shore. We spent our honeymoon here and it was idyllic. We visited Tangier Island, Smith Island, Princess Anne, Chincoteague & Cape Charles. Don't miss the Smith Island Baking Company in Crisfield. Ask for Donna Smith for info on this unique business. I have a feeling we will be back!

  • Great location, within walking distance to the beach. The house was very clean and a nice size to vacation in with our 3 kids. Great place for a little beach getaway!

  • They now have added a washer and dryer, which is incredibly convenient. The house was immaculate always, and I got some great sunset pics at wellington beach, which is about .5 miles away.

    Jordan2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The entire house is very clean. Noah and Carolyn are excellent hosts. They communicate well, are very organized and provide you with many excellent references of things to do and manuals for the house. The house easily and very comfortably fit 4 adult women. Everything was as it is displayed on the website. Crisfield in a cute boating community with a beautiful access to the bay and bay beach. The bay beach is about a minute from the house and is small but not over crowded. It also has bathrooms, picnic tables and umbrellas, an outdoor shower and a beautiful doc. There are many things to do on the water in the town that we did not explore but look like fun. Also, Chincoteague Beach, VA is only about a 50 minute drive away, and the drive is easy. We loved everything about this trip! We also had our fill of tasty seafood while in Crisfield. I highly recommend their place!

The property is close to family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the expansive views, the coziness, and enough room for everyone in your family . This is a great escape for couples, families - large and small, you can even bring your dog! The property is ideal for special events such as rehearsal dinners, weddings or any type of celebration.
  • This house was as advertised and it was ideal for a group or family getaway. Ample room for a large group and plenty of common areas to spend time in--the area was also very nice. Would certainly recommend.

  • A secluded and quaint location, definitely a gettaway to be remembered. Thank you .

    Vlad2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Gregory was extremely responsive to our questions both pre visit and during our visit. We loved relaxing in this beautiful home. We would have liked to use the outdoor area by the water and the deck and grill, but Mother Nature did not cooperate. A very quiet and remote neighborhood but a very short drive to downtown Onancock which is quaint and lovely with great food and shops. The home is very large and perfect for our group of 10 (5 couples). Kitchen area is great for entertaining a group, lots of room to move around. We didn't use the fireplace but would be nice and cozy on a cool evening. We would definitely stay at Cedar Creek Paradise again!

This lovely 3 bedroom, 2 full bath home also includes, central air, TV, Washer/Dryer, gas grill, and a large backyard deck looking onto the water. Located on Underhill creek, our private 300 ft long dock is perfect for crabbing and fishing. Close to the town of Onancock which has nice variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants. Chincoteague (rated a top 10 US island by tripadvisor in 2016) is also only a 45 min car ride away. Or bring a boat to explore all the islands off the eastern shore.
Located in the quiet residential neighborhood of Cashville. For nice variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants, Onancock is only a short 10 min drive away. Other great nearby spot to checkout is Chincoteague island, famous for their wild ponies, and listed as the "Top 10 US islands" by TripAdvisor in 2016. The bayside town of Cape Charles is about an hour drive to the south. Nearby small, but interesting towns include Accomac, Parksley, and Wachapreague.
  • Fantastic spot. Definitely off the beaten path which makes it a great place to unwind and find peace. Within an hour's drive to the ocean which was also wonderful. Loved having the chance to catch some crabs and also kayak during our stay....and the pier was used for an absolutely picturesque engagement for my brother!!!!!! Would definitely come again!

  • The home has everything you could need. It is very comfortable and we'll appointed. The house is very secluded in a beautiful natural area. We had some trouble with outside mobile phone communication even with

    Jennifer2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • The boy and the mutt thoroughly enjoyed their time here! The property is beautiful, wild life abundant, town is quaint and charming, groceries and other necessities are close by, and the beach isn't far. Internet was intermittent but being unplugged is not a bad thing. I would (and have) recommended this place to friends.

    Bridgette2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Clancy's place was secluded and quiet. The house was spacious and clean. Satellite TV and internet. The beds are comfortable. Having the pier out back is a nice bonus and there's a great view of the sunset.

    Jason2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time catching and cooking crabs. We loved the privacy of the little inlet and our bountiful interaction with nature and the great outdoors. We took the kayaks out for a spin. The house was comfortable and met all of our needs. We would definitely recommend this place and will plan to go back.

    Thomas2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Clancy's. There was plenty of room for us and our pup. We really enjoyed using the grill and watching the sun set. The internet was spotty so you have to be willing to unplug.

    Paul2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We normally stay in Chincoteague but were a bit late in booking so decided to try something different. Clancy's house and property were very comfortable, well equipped and maintained, and enjoyable for all. Taking the kayaks out on the creek was a blast! It is a secluded location, so if seclusion is not what you are looking for then this may not be your place. We enjoyed that aspect of it, and found little if any inconvenience in having to drive in to town to eat out or go to the store. Onancock is a cool place to check out, with a modest smattering of restaurants serving good eats. The 45 minute trip to Chincoteague for the ocean aspect of our vacation was reasonable and, after many years of staying up there, the change in location was welcomed!

    George2016-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was just as described, we really enjoyed the serenity of the place. It provided us with opportunities for recreation, we particularly enjoyed crabbing and dining in our catch. The location is great, we ventured off to a couple near by sites to mix it up a little. The beds were very comfortable and the home was outfitted well. Thank you for a wonderful opportunity for a quiet get away!

  • We booked this vacation home 9 months in advance and we were all very excited when the time finally came to vacation. My husband and I, joined by our son and daughter, and their spouses, and three grandchildren (ages 1, 2, and 3 years of age) all met at the house. My husband and I arrived last and the family was already out back running around on the green grass and playing on the playground set! All the write ups explained the house and setup beautifully. It is exactly what we were looking for. Well equipped, remote, just PERFECT! The sleeping arrangements worked well for us. We had a lot of space. The property is lovely! The sandy beach for our little ones was ideal and they loved it! The adults enjoyed kayaking along the coast and the guys enjoyed dropping their lines in the water to catch and release fish. At night after dinner, we enjoyed walking out to the adirondack chairs to appreciate the beauty of the bay and listen to the gentle surf, while sipping our coffees and wine. The family has plans to return. It was everything we were looking for, had everything we needed, and the nine of us could be together, enjoy each other's company, yet have space when needed. The host was available and easy to communicate with when needed. This is a gem on the Chesapeake and we can't imagine anyone being disappointed. Come prepared with your food, drink, and personal needs though .... because once you are there you don't want to leave(and it is remote so purchasing items is not convenient)! Thank You Tom! This vacation was a highlight for all of us. My three year old granddaughter every day kept telling me what a wonderful time she was having and that "this was the best ever!" Mind you .. her family just returned from CA , west coast beaches, San Diego Zoo, and a visit to Disneyland, but she preferred your beach home and wants to return.

    Susan2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Yay! Tissue boxes through out the house! Well stocked home accommodated our family of six adults easily. Host provided sufficient communication and information to make the stay easy. Would do business with this owner again.

    Ninamarie2015-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house is great and the access to the water is perfect. There are plenty of things to do from kayaking to relaxing on the deck to spirited ping pong matches. The house has everything you need to have a good time. The family friendly amenities made it great for three generations to spend time together.

    Sarah2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home! Wonderful Chesapeake views and great little beach for kids. Kayaking was a great time too... house has everything that you need for a great family vacation.

    Jon2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • The home was everything it was advertised to be. The host reached out to me on a number of occasions with needed information about the area and options that were available. The private beach and wooded lot were a plus. The home was spacious and the adjacent game room provided a place for all the kids to hang out together, yet be close enough for constant monitoring. The windows between the rooms helped in this regard. This is a much better arrangement than many multi-story homes we've rented. The game rooms are invariably on another floor, which can isolate the kids and makes it difficult to monitor them. The separate guest house above the garage was a nice option for family members who needed some seclusion.

    Bill2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thomas's home is the PERFECT weekend getaway for a large group or family. Our family spent the weekend eating delicious meals, playing ping-pong, sitting by the water, swimming, and chatting around the fire pit. Everything is just as he describes it in the post. Highly recommend!

This cozy coastal cottage offers the ability to enjoy everything the Northern Neck has to offer including the reason we own it - Beach Days! No high rise hustle bustle, just old school Northern Neck relaxation at the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. Unwind with books, games & puzzles or get out and do it all...Boating, Beach, Water Activities, Sightseeing, History, Dining, and more.
Mosquito free property! This house has 2 private bedrooms, each with queen beds, and a "bunk room" with full/full bunks*, and 1 queen sized air bed. *Bunk beds have a weight limit of 200 lbs on top bunk and 250 lbs on bottom bunk. NOT recommended for adult couples but can fit two children each, depending on weight. One full bath and an outdoor shower. DR, kitchen open to LR, and screened porch. White sand beach 3 min walk, beach gear, and boards. Public boat launch 2 min by car.
Family friendly environment. Our three kids are growing up feeling safe and happy coming here. Fleeton Beach is a community of some year-round residents and some weekenders, some absentee, too.
  • We had such a lovely time at Elizabeth's beach home! Our kids (5&7) accidentally got us locked us out of the house 15 minutes after arriving, and Elizabeth was so helpful and prompt getting us back into the house! We lived at the beach in the mornings which we had completely to ourselves during the weekdays. We enjoyed kayaking, but wish we would have driven the kayak to the launch and dropped it off (as suggested!) rather than trying to carry it as it's a longer walk. Keep the bug spray handy, even though the property is sprayed (and the screened porch is perfect), the beach and boat launch sites are not bug free! The fact that we had nearly no cell service was actually wonderful. It was amazing being unplugged for a while. Do not miss a sunset at Fleeton Point! Some of the most beautiful sunsets we've ever seen, just down the road. We are already looking at dates to come back next year!

    Angel2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect getaway! The house and neighborhood were perfect for a fall weekend away. There are wineries and shops close for shopping in Kilmarnock. There's a public boat ramp and excellent fishing so close you can almost walk there and a small, private beach at the end of the road. The house had everything we needed and more and the hosts were excellent with communication and were very accommodating. We will be back again for sure! Thank you Elizabeth for a wonderful weekend!

    Stacie 2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a quiet and relaxing stay at Elizabeth's house for a long weekend. The house and small beach area were both great for our girls, and it was nice to have all the beach gear provided. Reedville is a cute town, and we enjoyed the ice cream shop and a boat ride at the Fisherman's Museum. Also had a great lunch outside at Cockrells Creek Seafood and Deli right down the street. We wanted to get out of the city for a few days before school started, and this house and location were just what we were looking for. We accidently locked ourselves out, and Elizabeth responded right away to help us.

    Kathy2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • There was a gift basket and note for us and it felt welcoming. The house book was helpful in telling us where things were & we enjoyed the seafood restaurants in Reedville as well as the ice cream parlour.

    Kimberly2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time to the Northern Neck and we were so happy that we made Elizabeth's place our home base for the weekend. We (my husband and 15 month old) had our friends (with a 5 yr old and 2.5 yr old) from DC join us and we all had a great time, even in a full day of heavy rain. The space was cozy enough that we could cook, dine, hang, and play together (the house is stocked with great books for kids and some toys and videos) in common spaces, but enough privacy for sleeping, etc and the neighborhood perfect for easy strolls and exploring. Even though the house is not RIGHT on the water, you can enjoy a view of the Bay from the porch and kitchen and of course the whole neighborhood has that waterfront vibe, and the beach maybe even less than 3 minute walk. Elizabeth was extremely communicative and welcoming from the minute we booked - we especially appreciated that not only did she provide local recommendations, but that she also mentioned some specific events going on that weekend to guide our first time exploring this beautiful region. We have already recommended the cottage to some other friends, and hope to be back to take advantage of the kayaks, etc.

    Jane2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for something not too fussy and very relaxing this is the place for you! We were so impressed with how well the home was stocked with EVERYTHING and so much more then you might need! All weekend long it seemed we were saying "Wow, they thought of everything!" It was really above and beyond what I have seen from other hosts! It rained the weekend we went and you really are pretty "unplugged" at this home so we were concerned about that! However, it was really a chance to bond and everyone had such a good time! There were games, movies, and even stuff for the kids to do! The host went out of her way to give us recommendations on things to do in the area and places to eat! She was very easy to reach and really seemed to want us to have a good time and enjoy our time there!

    Lea2016-10-02T00:00:00Z

  • Our stay at Heartsworth was really great. The cottage is warm and comfortable, with great views. We really enjoyed the outdoor spaces on the deck and on the dock. We fished right off the dock and caught quite a few blue crabs, which we ate for dinner. The hosts, Joyce and Duke were so friendly and helpful. Be sure to ask for their recommendations for dinner and activities, they won't lead you astray. (A note about previous reviews that I read, yes there is a cemetery out front. Contrary to the tone of previous reviews, it's not creepy at all. Please read the history provided in the guest book at the house. It's quite historic. Also, bring your own sheets and towels. It's no big deal and everything else is provided: entertainment, scenery, a very well appointed kitchen, central location on the shore, excellent hosts, etc.) We're so glad we stayed here.

    Valarie2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience at Heartsworth Cottage! We were visiting family who live in town and the back deck was a perfect meeting space for everyone! The house is lovely and inviting, and the town is beautiful and interesting. We will definitely be back.

  • I had family in for a big celebration - Thanksgiving and a 70th birthday! They all loved the cottage! It was quiet, right on the creek and gave them (and me!) space for the 5 days we were together. I know they'll return again IF I can promise them the cottage

    Teresa2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Aside from a cemetery in the front yard (literallly 3 feet from front door), no wi-fi and an inaudiable tv from the 1980's...the cottage was adorable! If Joyce had written her description of the property and it's amenities more honestly I would not have had any complaints. But since she advertised sheets, towels, tv and wi-fi we expected these amenities to be at the house. Also, we certainly didn't expect the cemetery in the front yard! A heads up in the property description would have been nice! Also, she never advertised a boat ride, she offered it during our one phone conversation, but she never delivered on this offer. I hope this review makes it to the screen that potential renters see, because what I read on that review was not my full description of the rental!

  • Scenic, quiet location on Onancock Creek. Wish we could have stayed longer. Patrick responded to our questions within minutes, before, during and after our trip. He even notified me after we departed about a small item I left and offered to ship it to me...much appreciated

  • The cottage was a great sanctuary amongst a beautiful setting. The owners are fantastic communicators and share a wonderful setting full of charm. I loved sitting in the adirondack chairs facing the water and watching the sunset. Lovely stay in a great town.

  • My husband and I had such a great getaway at Patricks Cottage. The views were amazing ... we spent most of our time on the dock of the boathouse. It was really close to town too ... we love Market Street Antiques and the Corner Bakery. It was perfect for fishing, watching sunsets, and eating dinner dockside. We would definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful location on the Eastern Shore.

  • Our stay was fabulous!!! They even left us fresh pastries from a local bakery for my girlfriend's birthday! The cottage itself is right in the water. We saw wild life & went crabbing right off of the dock! We will be back! We live it here! Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location!

    Geneva2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful, right on the water, and full of thoughtful little items to make you more at home (like nectarines and a mason jar of cream in the fridge for coffee). We decided it was the best airbnb we've stayed in, and really enjoyed exploring the inlet in kayaks. Thanks again.

  • Wonderful and quite right on the water. 5 min from town of Onancock. A great great get away from the city. Maria

  • This little cottage was an awesome find! Affordable, private, gorgeous views, quiet, and very accessible to the Tangier ferry, great restaurants, and to the main highway. One day it poured rain all day long and we still enjoyed crabbing at the covered boathouse. Pat now has equipment for guests to go crabbing, and to steam them at the cottage, which is great. :) we had fresh crab dinner! Even one of pat's friends dropped off a basket of blue crab which we also steamed, froze, and took home!! The kitchen is fully stocked and has all the basics you might need, even salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, and a few spices. You can tell they really think through the details. We rode our bikes to town (the wharf) which took all of ten minutes, and also kayaked there once which took maybe 15 min. Pat & alisa were so great to let us use the kayaks and also provided lifejackets. A very memorable wedding anniversary!

    Keisha & Jon2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • If I could rate my stay any higher I would. Pat and Alisa were so nice and made us feel right at home. We booked our weekend as a birthday getaway, and we couldn't be happier. The guesthouse is perfect for two, and everything was extremely neat and clean. Kayaking and fishing are some of the activities that are just seconds outside of the guesthouse, and only a few minutes away from the street is Market street, a very nice and quiet community with a lot of interesting shops.

Gorgeous, professionally decorated, waterfront property on the expansive Onancock Creek AND only one block from the adorable town of Onancock. Come see why Budget Magazine just voted Onancock "The Cooolest Small Town in America!"
Gorgeous waterfront property directly overlooking expansive Onancock Creek, largest of the Chesapeake Bay tributaries, AND only one block from the adorable town of Onancock. No wonder Budget Magazine recently voted Onancock 'The Coolest Small Town in America!' Recently decorated top to bottom by award-winning design team JRML of Norfolk, VA, The Shore House is a gorgeous, peaceful and escape. There is no TV, landline or electronics at The Shore House. There is, however, a huge covered deck stretched along the back of the house overlooking the water where you can watch the herons, egrets and osprey to your heart's content. There is also a library tucked amidst the four upstairs bedrooms that overlooks the water and is fully stocked with a wide variety of books. For the few rainy days there is a TV for movie-watching, board games and ITunes. If you want more action you are a short walk from the town of Onancock which has antique stores, wonderful restaurants, a movie theater, a drama theater, a gourmet food/wine shop as well as the town wharf. Park your car and leave it! The house was built in 1999 by a builder for his family and therefore the lay-out is bright, spacious and well designed. The first floor of the house accommodates the master bedroom/bath suite, a full laundry room, a fully equipped kitchen a large family room with a game table, a formal living and dining room. The second floor has two kids rooms with two twins each and a jack 'n jill bath as well as two queen rooms that have a separate bath. Our dock moors our Maycraft motor boat and canoe. These can take you in 15 minutes to remote state-protected beaches where you will be the only ones around for miles! In town, kayaks can be rented as well. The dock is also great for crabbing and the back yard is large enough to accommodate any sporting event imaginable. Within driving distance are two golf courses in Cape Charles (30 minutes), the famous Chincoteague/Assauteague preserve where horses roam on the beaches (60 minutes), several places to charter boats in Wachapreague ('The Flounder Capital of the World', 15 mins) and in Cape Charles. Wallops Visitor Center, the up and coming star of the NASA rocket launching pads, is a 40 min drive north. There are also two grocery stores, fast food restaurants and other restaurants within a five minute drive. In addition, our summer, full-paying guests will have access to the amenities at the Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club (15 min drive). Guests of ours may use the pool for only $5.00 per person and may pay to use the golf course, dining room etc. This is a very special and generous offer on behalf of the country club and we hope every guest will treat the facility with the utmost respect. There is nothing like the Eastern Shore, the largest stretch of undeveloped waterfront on the Eastern Seaboard. The Shore House puts you in the heart of it all. Keywords: Waterfront, luxury, large, new, spacious home. Perfect for a family reunion or getaway.
  • We had an excellent stay in Onancock. Gorgeous, clean house with everything we needed! We had quick and efficient communication that allowed for easy arrival. We visited for New Years to escape the city and enjoy the small town. I hope to visit again in the warmer months to take advantage of the lovely screened porch and dock.

  • Be aware home is close to cemetery if that changes your mind in anyway. Also make sure to check that features that are important to you are confirmed to be working prior to booking

  • Great porch with a beautiful view of Onancock...

  • This is a beautiful property we had a family get together and it was perfect for that.

  • Cannot recommend this house enough! Our group of 9 had a wonderful stay at the shore house. The house was absolutely beautiful, with big gorgeous rooms and plenty of space for all of your needs. The layout of the house is open and airy. We loved the board games, library, and the misc. fun items throughout the house. Our group especially enjoyed the screened porch and spent our night enjoying the summer breeze just lounging around. The back yard with the boat dock is well kept, with plenty of space to kick a ball around. We enjoyed using the kayak and canoe provided. On the dock we saw some small fishes and crabs. The highlight of our trip was the boat! Plenty of space for the 9 of us, and although the water wasn't deep or the cleanest near the house due to all the seaweed, it was a great time and the water got cleaner the further you went out. The neighbors/neighboring boat parties were very friendly as well. The Walmart was a short trip away and Assateague Beach was only a 30 min drive. 10/10 recommended. We hope to visit back soon - our trip was too short!

  • Large comfortable home in quiet residential area in small village of Onancock. Lovely screened deck and back yard leading to dock on a stillwater section of bay tributary. House is good for pets and large parties. It's 3.5-4 hour drive from D.C. and 40-60 min drive to Chincoteague-Assateague beaches- so not the best choice if you really want an easy, daily beach vacation. Eastern Shore is very rural and basically all agricultural farmland. Some interesting things to do out there but all involve driving. Laura is an excellent host with great communication and follow up.

  • Love the place! Went with my company for crabbing. The house itself was very spacious and nice, and also it was clean. The kitchen had everything we needed. Its private port is perfect for crabbing and we caught almost 60 crabs in 3 hours. Would definitely recommend it! Also the area is very pretty too.

Treat yourself to the best view on the Bay! Sparkling water, beach, barrier islands, and a gorgeous tidal inlet wrap around our sun-drenched and beautifully manicured 3-acre property. Over 2000 feet of shoreline provide a stunning and unique Bayfront experience. Witness brilliant sunrises and tranquil sunsets. Catch frequent glimpses of abundant waterfowl. Peer out at distant merchant ships. The view is endless and beautiful from our vantage point across the widest section of the Bay.
Explore water and land. Adults and kids will enjoy paddling around in our 2 kayaks and canoe. The barrier islands provide calm, protected waters for all skill levels. And beyond them lies a more ambitious journey in the open waters of the Bay. Landlubbers will enjoy biking or walking around neighboring Fleeton, a wonderfully picturesque seaside community at the tip of Virginia’s Northern Neck. We provide 2 adult bikes and 2 child bikes. Our home is open and airy with magnificent views of the Bay and up-scale furniture and features like a newly remodeled kitchen with high-end appliances and granite countertops. Our lawn is sun-drenched and beautifully manicured – just waiting for a good game of crochet, kickball, or tossing a Frisbee. Come relax and reinvigorate! Waters Edge is close by and a world apart. Note: We own two other rental properties on the Bay and in the same vicinity (Please ask for more details). We've rented for 5 years and had many satisfied guests and positive reviews.
  • What a wonderful home in Reedville, VA! Our family of four (2 kids age 8 and 11) enjoyed this airy 3 bedroom house set on 5acres - it was clean and well-equipped with plenty of towels, bedding and kitchen ware. There is a huge deck with a new dining set and lounging chairs, and there are two kayaks, two paddle boards and a canoe - plus a play set. We sat on the deck watching ships and birds and beavers, or walked/kayaked to the nearby private beach. The bay water is calm, so or 8-yr old learned to kayak by himself! Reedville and Fleeton are cute villages - with a couple of good seafood restaurants and a lovely Ice Cream parlor. We did plenty of cycling - we brought our own bikes, but this home comes with 4 nice bikes (2 adult, 2 kids). The house is equipped with necessities and 'niceties' like to toilet tissue, laundry & dishwasher detergent, garbage bags and coffee filters :-) The owner Bill is kind and responsive, and let us check out a little late. We recommend the boat trip to Tangier Island and ice cream at Chitter Chatter!

  • Beautiful, quiet and excellent view. The property was nice and we enjoyed playing croquet on the lawn. Big drawback is you can't get to the water from this property. I had emailed and asked this question directly and he had responded - "cross through ankle- deep water to get to main shore of Bay. " The " ankle deep water" was a knee+ deep muddy swamp where crossing meant your shoes would get sucked into the mud or your bare feet cut by shells. Or you walk the equivalent of two city blocks to get to the main water. Also, there is very little shade on the deck. Only 1 umbrella (which was broken) and would only shade a small portion of the deck. Lastly, know that this place is very remote and quiet. Nothing to do within 10 miles except eat crab and get ice cream. No boardwalk or any beach side nightlife

  • Peace, quiet and beauty surrounds the home. The location is remote enough to take you away from big city crowds & noises. To enjoy this house you need to be outside and indulge in the wonders of the Chesapeake Bay. Utilize the bikes, paddle boats or kayaks (all are in great condition). Bring plenty of sunscreen & bug spray. Just in case of rainy days bring books & games for the adults & children. Stores aren't walkable but certainly accessible. We shopped in the local towns and ate dinner at Kilmarnock Inn. Wonderful, and avail yourself of the ferry's to Tangier Island, great trip, just too short of a stay. This is not the typical beach stay with big beachs & crowds. You can enjoy nature at it's finest & with a little imagination the days filled too quickly. The lack of general cleaning & upkeep if the larger parts of the house (rug and walls) did detract from the well supplied and basically a very clean house. I'm sure that these are on the owners "to do" list. All in all a terrific experience.

Holly Haven is an in-law apartment of about 450 sq. ft. and attached to our house by double doors insuring privacy for both our guests and ourselves. The Queen size bed is Stearns and Foster soft plush top. There is a fully furnished kitchen and set up for dining for 2 people, and has a small refrigerator, four burner electric stove, microwave, coffee maker, tea kettle, toaster oven, double sink and dishes and pots and pans. The large deck overlooking the back yard is very peaceful and private.
We have tried to make the space as comfortable as possible with plush bedding and nice furnishings. The bathroom is small but adequate having recently been rebuilt. There are cooking and dining ware in the kitchen and a small, apt. size, refrigerator which should be adequate for short term stays.
Ours is a very quiet neighborhood with single family dwellings, some going back to the Federal period. We expect our guests to respect the quiet that attracts people here.
  • John's place is very comfortable! My wife and I stayed here for two nights during a weekend getaway. His place is short walking distance to Onancock shops and restaurants. The space was very clean and comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone staying in Onancock!

  • My stay at Holly Haven was delightful. Decent size bedroom, small but adequate kitchen that is fully equipped. Private bathroom. Loved the spacious, private deck. Very clean and nicely furnished. Great host!

  • We enjoyed staying in John's apartment. The bed was comfortable, the location was serene, and the apartment was a very good value. We enjoyed the deck out back with a friendly cat. We would definitely stay here again when we travel to the Eastern Shore.

  • John's home is better than pictured. It's quiet, clean and with the comforts of home. Close to local beaches (under an hour drive) and waterfront dining (about 5 minutes). The back yard and deck are peaceful. It's simply lovely. Thanks John!

  • Setup was just as described. I really liked the setup with the small kitchen because it allowed me to both sample some of the local dining establishments, but also go for a minor shopping trip and stash a little of my own food to save money on a few meals while I was there. Basically like a small cozy hotel room with its own little kitchen attached. The room is perfect for one person or a couple who are visiting or exploring the area. The immediate surrounding town has lots of little shops and restaurants as well as a gas station/convenience store all within walking distance, and is welcoming during the day, and very quiet and peaceful at night.

  • John's place is a perfect getaway for those seeking a quiet and quaint retreat. The location is excellent - it is close to downtown restaurants and a bakery, and is only about 40 minutes to Chincoteague. The suite itself is private and clean, with a beautiful blue floor and paintings by John hung on the wall. Check-in was easy and flexible. We were happy that we did not have to arrive at a specified time, which is usually one of the drawbacks to using AirBnb for a busy couple. John replied quickly to our questions about internet connection and the AC - he seemed genuinely concerned with our comfort. We would definitely stay here again!
