A majestic colonial style home perched in the center of a 47 acre farm with private forested land, a young orchard, a pool, verdant gardens, Romney sheep and Heritage chickens just 80 minutes from midtown Manhattan – a perfect escape from the city and a place to enjoy some peace and privacy.
Grape Hollow Farm is located in the Hudson Highlands near the headwaters of Stump Pond Stream. The house is within a mile of the Adirondack Trail, 17 minutes of the Village of Pawling and 16 minutes from the Metro-North Patterson station. The house and property can easily accommodate family gatherings, reunions, retreats, or small events (on a case-by-case basis with pricing TBD). Here are the sleeping possibilities. - Master Bedroom on 2nd floor: 1 queen size bed for 2 people. - Room on 2nd floor: 2 single beds, plus one pull out trundle for 3 people. - Room on 2nd floor: 1 single bed, plus one pull out trundle for 2 people. - Room on 2nd floor: 1 queen size bed & 1 day bed for 3 people. - 2 Queen sized self-inflating mattresses for 4 people. - Sofa in living room for 2 people. - Pull out sofa in basement for 2 people. - Max Capacity: 18 people There’s a fully stocked pantry and kitchen; two full baths; laundry room; fire place; SONOS sound system, WIFI, entertainment center and ping pong table in the basement. There's plenty of open outdoor space, soaring maple trees and forests to roam around. There’s a beautiful pool open from Memorial through Labor Day weekends. There's a deck off the kitchen with a Green Egg BBQ Grill, dining and lounge furnishings next to a large back yard. This is a operating permaculture orchard, sheep and chicken farm and we hope you’ll enjoy both the house and property in the same way that we do. The house is decorated simply and is cozy in all seasons. The house has a big front porch that overlooks the orchard.
Lovely rural neighborhood. Total quiet and privacy. Beautiful setting. The area is full of lakes. Forested highland region of hills and low mountains. Pawling is 15 minutes away. In the summer, go to the Saturday morning farmers’ market for local produce, meats, and treats. If you’ve got kayaks or a canoe, hit the Great Swamp. There are good restaurants and bars nearby. Our home is also a great option for West Point, Kent or Trinity Pawling parents looking for a place to stay for parents' weekends, sporting events, etc.
  • The house and grounds were beautiful and it comfortably slept 12 people. The biggest issue is that there is no air conditioning and that's not advertised anywhere (on the house description, in the extensive house guide). Even though there were ceiling fans and a few standing fans, staying there when temperatures topped 100 degrees was not the most relaxing.

  • With a group of friends, I celebrated my 30th birthday at Grape Hollow Farm and had an absolutely wonderful time! Scott was a great host- communicative and helpful. The farm is gorgeous- as you drive in approaching the house you get to view all the 47 acres and immediately know you're in for a treat! We loved strolling through the gardens and got to meet their new chickens and cooked up a few fresh eggs for breakfast! The house itself was amazing- we cooked all weekend, played games on the lawn, sat outside for communal dinners, and relaxed on the porch swing and hammock. It was comfortable, clean, and well designed. Everyone loved it and agreed we should stay again!

  • The house is comfortable and clean and the large kitchen had all the cooking equipment we needed. The kids loved watching the chickens and collecting the eggs. The pool area was the perfect place to relax on a hot day. Perfect place for all ages.

  • Had a great family time. Loved the sheep. Very peaceful and quiet.

  • This was a return to Grape Hollow Farm for our family, and it was every bit as lovely as our first visit. Our young children love watching sheep and chickens, and seeing the fruit and vegetables growing on the property. It's a wonderful departure from city life and an opportunity for the whole family to completely unplug. While the property is quiet, Scott is very accessible and responsive if needed. We look forward to every visit and hope to have many more.

    Misha2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Scott was a wonderful and very accommodating host. The property was perfect for a friends and family get together. Beautiful grounds and lots of nooks to get lost in. We had everything we needed. The kids loved seeing all of the animals and swimming in the pool. The porch at night is particularly special.

    Kristin2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We HIGHLY recommend staying at Grape Hollow Farm. The pictures actually do not do the property justice - it's breathtakingly beautiful and serene and has such a special vibe to it. We absolutely loved letting the chickens out and hanging out with them and checking on the eggs that were due to hatch and saying hi to the sheep. There is a BEAUTIFUL fireplace in the living room and the home has such a great flow to it. The kitchen is open and great for socializing while cooking meals. It wasn't warm or dry enough for us to use the patio/bbq, but it's set up nicely for outdoor meals. The beds are very comfortable, and the home is very clean. We all felt completely at home and at ease. Our host Scott was super easy to get in touch with and super helpful. It was such a wonderful visit and we hope to be able to visit again.

    Leah2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Scott was a wonderful host who left very concise instructions for everything needed for a comfortable stay. The farmhouse was an incredible country sanctuary, both idyllic and convenient. Every room of the house offers a new relaxing experience, from a tree-filled vista, to impeccable white sheets. I came here to celebrate my birthday with family and close friends and we definitely enjoyed the fresh herbs in the garden and the luxury of having a pool in the backyard. Every bit of our stay was relaxed and festive. I cannot wait to come back.

  • the apartment was super clean and modern. absolutely no complaints very private and had everything you would need for a business trip or just a get away. will definitely recommend to friend going to new york. i accidentally forgot my phone charger and Cynthia let me know before i noticed and even offered to mail it back to me. can get any better. 5 stars for sure

  • I echo what other people have said, Cynthia is wonderful! She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and was very responsive. The apartment was comfortable, a great price, and warm on the winter's coldest weekend so far. As a positive side note, she was also wonderful with our 1 year old daughter!

    Michele2016-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our second time staying at Cynthia's place was just as good as last year's visit. Cynthia again made the space very welcoming with coffee, breakfast foods and also toiletries. Cynthia communicated with me ahead of time to confirm and everything worked out great.

    Deanne2015-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious basement apartment in a modern duplex house. The space is very sleek and comfortable; pictures don't really do it justice. There's a wide expanse of greenery at the backyard with a large pond. Cynthia was a very helpful and kind host, offering snacks, directions and a train drop-off.

    Kene2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful time staying at Cynthia's place! We spent 3 nights there and everything was exactly as advertised. A nice clean basement apartment to vacation in. Spacious and tidy! The neighborhood is quiet and it's so perfectly located with Beacon and Stormking and Poughkeepsie well within reach, just short drives away!! And Cynthia and her hubby were really accommodating and generous, really going above and beyond to make us feel as comfortable as possible, checking in with us to make sure we were doing well and offering to help in any way possible. They even hooked up a sleeper sofa for our daughter. They really made our weekend getaway a lovely lovely vacation!! Thank you!! Nikolai

    Nikolai2014-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia and her apartment were everything visitors want a host and a place to be! She was pleasant and extremely easy to deal with from start to finish, even going out of her way to provide bagels for breakfast. And did I mention the place is beautiful? Spotless, cozy but spacious (perfect for 2), tastefully decorated, very private - just wonderful! I'd go back in a heartbeat, and can't thank Cynthia enough. Only regret: didn't get to meet the wonder-pug. Next time... :-)

    Janna2015-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia is an amazing host! The apartment was just as promised on the profile, and very spacious. My son felt ill and she showed so much concern for him. The neighborhood is beautiful and very safe.

Brightly colored bedroom with two single comfortable beds ( trundle beds). Private /sometimes shared bathroom with tub/shower. This comfy sunny room is on the second floor of our farmhouse. Not only will you enjoy our home with full kitchen use and comfy living room with large screen TV with cablevision but our property has many available fun activities. We have 9+ acres with a large pond to swim in or boat on. We have a canoe, a kayak and a flat bottom boat. Fishing is a real pleasure because we can almost guarantee a wide mouth bass and/or sunnies on your line. By the small beach and dock we have an area with picnic tables and a barb-b-que for your enjoyment and a fire pit for evening relaxation. Also enjoy our full outdoor basketball court, 2 pickleball courts, volleyball and horseshoes. A great getaway for fun and relaxation.
  • We stayed at Maggie and Marty's home for just one night. Maggie met us warmly and gave us the tour, made us feel at home and helped us find a great dinner spot. The house was clean and cozy. The property was lovely and we enjoyed some swim time in the pond and relaxed in the hammock. We're hoping to return sometime with all of our kids (we had only one in tow) to have a bit of a retreat! It's easy to imagine passing the day and having a blast between the pond, water trampoline, BB courts, volleyball, grill and fire pit. Many thanks, Maggie and Marty! What a pleasure it was to meet you. We appreciated your hospitality.

    Jenn2012-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie is a great host who goes out of her way to make her guests feel at home. The farmhouse is lovely, even better than I'd dared hope. The small room was spotless, comfortable and perfect for an overnight stay. I confess I fell in love with the Large Bedroom on my first stay and so upgraded on my return trip. The location is very convenient to either I-84 or the Taconic Parkway. I'll definitely be back the next time I need a place to break a journey to/from New England.

    Susan2013-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • I had stayed at Maggie and Marty's house two years ago for a long holiday weekend. The 2nd time, everything was just as perfect as the 1st time; it felt like coming home. The house is so beautiful, spacious and comfortable, my room and bed were comfortable, the other guests in the house were really interesting and cool, the grounds are enormous and well taken care of. I spent one whole day floating on the pond in a canoe reading the newspaper, and another whole day lounging on the grass reading a great book. At night it's peaceful, the stars are gorgeous and we watched loads of movies on Netflix. Doesn't get more relaxing than that. I hear there's great apple-picking, hot-air-ballooning, art and wine in the area which I'll explore next time I visit if ever feel like leaving the house!

  • My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay. They have acres of land with beautiful mountain views. We enjoyed swimming in the pond, using the floating trampoline and walking the grounds with our dog. Marty and Maggie are great hosts.

Beautiful Federal/Greek revival mansion built in 1835 and kept in mint condition. House is surrounded by 13 acres of land with mature trees and river front cross the road.
  • This house is amazing. My friends and family and I had a wonderful time at Gemma’s place. The kitchen was a special gathering place as we cooked and dined throughout the weekend. The property is stunning inside and out. Both well appointed with antiques and style. We were lucky to catch the fall foliage as her house is surrounded by woods and changing leaves. We all look forward to the next time we can all gather at this special place.

    James2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The home was charming, creative, beautiful, and unique. It was a terrific escape from city life for a couple of days, with plenty of cozy rooms to sleep in, a super common area and enormous kitchen to cook in, and great outdoor space. We were additionally extremely grateful for the flexibility in check out on our weekend.

Beautiful 1930s house set on 18 private acres of land overlooking a private lake. Immaculately landscaped surrounding area with koi and gold fish pond with a waterfall, gazebo, hammock and most importantly untouched nature. Very private yet close to everything. Enjoy your morning coffee or tea in the outdoor covered patio overlooking the property, wine and dine under the pergola, enjoy the wood burning fireplace on a chilly evening... Serenity and relaxation at its best!
House feels very open and light due to huge windows and cathedral ceilings. The set up is perfect for entertaining in the great room which has a dining table which sits 8 comfortably. The fireplace area is a great conversation spot or a nice relaxing space for reading a book. TV room is cozy and separate from the great room. Two bedrooms with queen size beds are downstairs and a master bedroom with on suite bath is upstairs. Very comfortable beds, two out of three mattresses are Termpur-pedic.
The property is located 62 miles north from the city, a quick 75 minute drive, or 90 minute Metro North train ride. Close to the Appalachian trail, minutes from the Chiang Yen Monastery, short drive to Fishkill Farms, DIA Beacon and many other beautiful destinations in Hudson Valley.
  • Sandy was a great host. He was always available to help with questions before the trip and was very accommodating. He left us many suggestions on what to do in the area, which was really helpful. The home seemed to be recently remodeled inside and there was plenty of space for a family of four. The home was stocked with everything you would need to make a home cooked meal. The house is recessed and you get a good amount of privacy. There is a beautiful backyard with a pool, lighted pergola, porch and a large pond. It's a really nice space to host a small weekend getaway. Overall the home was perfect and we would definitely stay again. Thanks Sandy!

  • We had a fantastic weekend stay at Kevin's place - it really is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures! Kevin and his family were incredibly welcoming hosts, even leaving us some farm fresh eggs from the property for breakfast! The space was impeccably clean, and stocked with the all the essentials one could want while on the farm (BBQ supplies, flashlights, bugspray, etc.). My dad and his wife enjoyed walking the trails on the property, while my girlfriend and I had a blast cycling the local roads. I'd have no hesitations at all recommending Kevin's place for a relaxing stay, short or long!

    Matt2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Had the most amazing stay at Kevin and Terri's farm. 5 of us (with our kids) were in town for a long wedding weekend and couldn't have been happier coming home each night to a clean, quiet, peaceful, and comfortable space. The cherry on top was waking up each morning to a gorgeous working horse farm. Living space is well thought out. Ample towels for everyone, extra blankets, washer/dryer, and incredibly comfortable couches + beds. We were all so pleased with everything...we wouldn't hesitate to come back in a heartbeat (despite the fact that we live just 90 minutes away). The farm is very close to great restaurants, local attractions, and anything else one might want or need. Our wedding was in Beacon, and it was no big deal driving the 15-18 minutes back and forth each day. Lastly, Kevin and Terri were so easy to work with and excellent w/ communication. Before we left, Terri was kind enough to give our kids (2 and 3 years old) a little tour of the horse barn to meet some of their beautiful residents. Again, couldn't have been happier...thanks for a great stay! -Max (Brooklyn, NY)

  • Our stay at Anne-Marie's house was amazing!! We loved everything about it-the immaculately clean and beautiful house, the well kept yard and stunning (URL HIDDEN) was even BETTER than the pictures! We came with our kids and they had a great time. Anne-Marie was a pleasure. She was easy to get in touch with and so welcoming and accommodating. She made sure we would have everything we needed, even leaving us firewood and snacks for the kids-so thoughtful! We would jump at the chance to come again!

  • This is a beautiful home just outside of town. Anne-Marie is a wonderful host who explains things well and answers questions quickly. She took the time to meet us at the house and go over the details of how things work, giving us a tour, etc. and provided local resources and tourism information. Her grandfather was living in the in-law suite of the house, but we never saw/heard him as he has his own separate entrance. It was too cold to use the pool, but during the warmer months of the year, it would be wonderful, I'm sure.

    Stephen2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Anne Marie’s House was beautiful and spacious, with high ceilings and a large kitchen, dining and living area. We were a group of friends looking to see the foliage around Hudson Valley and this was the perfect space for us to go to Beacon and Poughkeepsie. We were able to have cook in a big kitchen and have dinner around a big table, play board games and cards, and have nice, clean accommodations. The master bedroom is incredible and other bedrooms are also nicely presented. Anne Marie is a gracious host even before you arrive, providing hike and apple orchard recommendations in the area and being so nice on the phone beforehand. We loved staying here and would definitely come back if we came back to the area! Thank you Anne Marie!

Do note that 4 beautiful cats are also resident here! They're not allowed in the room though, so my allergies were mostly under control. The log cabin itself is rustic but comfortable, and in the summertime, it's airy and light. Also note that the door leading into the cabin (from the house) is glass without a curtain, in case privacy is very important to you. The shared bathroom down the hall is modern and renovated. The best part, though, about staying here was meeting Victoria. She's generous, warm and a great host. I'm so glad to have met her!

  • Our weekend at Victoria’s home surpassed our best expectations. The cabin lodge is a charming, private room with a comfortable bed, amazing view of the woods, and a truly cozy feeling. The home was designed by Victoria and her husband and has beautiful architecture, and a welcoming feeling. Victoria is such a warm host, and made us feel right at home. The breakfast was AMAZING. She is a professional chef, and can make some truly remarkable dishes. I don’t recall ever tasting breakfast potatoes and peppers quite like the ones she made. Above all, she’s an amazing person. Her cats are all really cute and friendly. I can’t recommend this place enough. Regardless of which room you stay in, you’re guaranteed to have an incredible time.

  • Had a blast at Jennifer's place. Many spacious rooms and beds enough for 11 of us. The backyard was very beautiful with a lot of grass and trees, the jacuzzi worked well, and the tennis court (balls, rackets, shoes provided) was a plus. Will stay again!

4 bedroom house complete with cathedral ceiling living room, glassed in sunporch and 2 story stone fireplace. Beautiful dining deck outside kitchen & living room. Slate patio by waterfront complete with picnic table & lake access. Very well maintained. Full basement with laundry and bathroom.
  • Probably one of the most beautiful locations we have stayed at on airbnb. The back of the house opens straight out onto a gorgeous lake. We fished straight off the dock and admired the changing leaves. Would love to come back in the summer and swim. We would definitely rent this house again. Be prepared that any sort of amenities are a 15min drive (URL HIDDEN) so stock up, your really won't want to leave the views from the house anyway. The house itself is simply decorated but has everything you could need. Thanks for a great time.

  • Beautiful setting. Nice escape from NYC. They have a canoe and kayaks, which is nice. Close to apple orchards and pumpkin patches. Charming weekend getaway.

  • We had a great stay at the lake house. Jennifer was very responsive and provided everything we needed for a great weekend. We would definitely go back.

    Jon2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were in town for a wedding and to spend time with family with kids ages 2-6. Favorites: big sun porch looking on to the lake, shower with a view, taking the kids out in the canoe and kayaks, grilling dockside, games by the fire at night, spotting ducks, geese, heron, snakes, turtle, a bald eagle and an amazing sunrise. . We feel like we got a week's worth of relaxation in two days. The furnishings and kitchen supplies etc are dated but they have everything you need and if you know what you are signing up for, it's part of the lake house charm.

    Vivien2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 3 nights and found this house comfortable and cozy! Great spot! Saw Mute Swans, Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagles and more! Heard Eastern Screech Owl. Great private bedrooms, plenty of linens and towels and hot water! Squeezed in a canoe ride and a kayak ride! Had family dinner on porch! We came to the area for a wedding but would rent again for beauty and comfort of this location!

    Helen2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer was a great host, the house was very lovely and the dock in the lake priceless. Goodtimes.

    Alex2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at Jennifer's lake house! The house itself was amazingly cozy and comfortable with an unbeatable view and dock. Kayaks and grills were a huge plus. Jennifer was very helpful in answering the many questions that came up before our stay. I highly recommend staying here, and hope to revisit Whaley Lake in the future! Thanks :)

    Aiesha2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin was in a beautiful setting with picturesque views of the lake and fall foliage. We enjoyed kayaking and canoeing and were able to make the accommodations work comfortably as two families totaling 8 people (4 adults and 4 kids). There were life-vests for everyone in the storage area and I noticed other fun water "toys" (noodles, tubes etc). Two barbecues (coal and gas) which were also nice for meals. Kitchen is adequately equipped with toaster, coffee maker, microwave, serving-ware etc; though the kitchen is not updated and has more of a rustic/older feel. If you have allergies or sensitivities to dust, this could impact you as its an older home- as was experienced by two of the adults in our group who are more sensitive to allergens.

A year-round waterfront home with gorgeous unobstructed views of Whaley lake provides the perfect escape for a long weekend or vacation. Enjoy swimming and lake activities via private direct lake access. Spacious boathouse deck for entertaining or sunbathing. Cozy up to a two-story stone fireplace while enjoying the fall and winter colors.
Furnished rental 90 minutes from New York City. House includes a sunroom with beautiful lake views- perfect for relaxing or dining on the picnic-style dining table. 2 upstairs bedrooms joined by a Jack and Jill bathroom and a downstairs master bedroom. Home was recently renovated with a new roof, carpeting, bathroom, plumbing and fireplace. Full basement includes laundry, ping pong table and extra storage space for all your boat gear. Guests will have full access to kayaks, canoe, electric Weber grill, and an assortment of floats.
  • We really enjoyed the house and lake. We loved that there was privacy between houses, deck above the boat house was perfect for hanging out, eating and fishing. Everything was as described and Laurin was very helpful, responsive and accommodating. There are some stairs to get to the house, but Laurin was clear about that in her description and it was not an issue for us. House was very clean, loved the living room with the fireplace a perfect spot at night to play games and enjoy a fire. There are 2 very nice kayaks and the lake is perfect for kayaking. Access to Appalachian Trial is very close by and that was a fun way to spend an afternoon. Would highly recommend, perfect place to getaway and relax. Thanks Laurin!

    Debra2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Laurin's lake house. The lake itself is beautiful and the direct lake access from the backyard made for a great weekend. The house fit six of us comfortably and was even nicer than the pictures. Laurin was quick to answer any questions we had before and during the trip. We had trouble finding the light switch for the backyard lights our first night and she responded immediately. I cannot stress enough how great the backyard/deck/lake were. There are plenty of floats and kayaks that were really fun to use on the lake. Also morning coffee in the sunroom was so relaxing and a great way to start the day, again this room was much nicer than the pictures imply. Lastly, coming from nyc you can't beat the location. It only took a little over an hour to get there, which was important for those of us leaving straight from work on Friday.

My sister and family loved it too! Very comfortable and cozy place to stay. Felt like home! Also very private and very quiet. Laurin was very quick to respond to us . Loved her place!!

  • What a beautiful spot!! Laurin's home was a gorgeous location for a quiet birthday weekend. Had so much fun relaxing at her peaceful place and kayaking around the lake. Just perfect! Laurin was very responsive and helpful when we had a question about the kayak paddles. It was a pleasure to stay at her home.

75 min from NYC near the little known Whaley Lake, the house & the surrounding land is a great spot to get away & relax. The cozy house is perfect for cooking, reading & game nights. The surrounding land is perfect for hikes, exploring, picnics & field games. With skiing, lakes, larger hiking trails & historic sites nearby, this is a great place for groups of friends, couples or families with children to either settle in & relax or adventure out to enjoy the surrounding Dutchess County.
A quiet 2 bedroom house on 10 acres of field and forest. The house has a kitchen large enough for family member to sit around and cook together. The quiet upstairs bedrooms are full of books for adults and children alike. The back porch of the house is the perfect shaded reading or game spot and the field is large enough for some great field games. The land around the house is in progress, with a couple older items still left from the last owners, but nothing that hampers the beauty or safety of the space.
  • A beautiful space to spend a weekend with family or friends. The house is very cozy and the land is just incredible. Big field, two great fire pits, and a lovely trail into private woods. Couldn't have asked for a better getaway, looking forward to returning!

    Jon2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place. Perfect to chill in the weekend. You can walk pretty far in her land. It's beautiful and fun place.

    Syed2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amity has a place by a GORGEOUS lake, beautiful area, nice piece of land. The beds are SUPER comfy. Neat old house with cool upstairs bedrooms. Easy to cook a simple meal in the kitchen.

    Jen2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Pros: Host was very pleasant to interact with and communication was timely and clear for check-in details etc. The home was relatively tidy/neat as far as personal belongings were concerned. Cons: Home had a very strong odor on arrival. There was a hole in the bathroom floor where a vent had been broken. There was laundry in the washer/dryer. Exterior of home had abandoned pool/trampoline on property and a fence that had been removed left 2-3" high post remnants in the leaf-litter and grass that my family tripped on. We found both the pictures on the advertisement of the home and the cost of a single night stay to be in-congruent with it's actual condition on arrival.

  • Charming house with a gorgeous property.

    Vadim2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place for a relaxing weekend with a small group!! We had a group of 5 and were looking to get away from the city for a summer weekend. Amity's place was perfect, with a sunny and inviting kitchen for communal cooking, plenty of space to sit and relax or play games indoors, and a ton of outdoor space for exploring and/or just hanging out. It was unfortunately too wet for us to use the fire pits, but we hope to come back and make use of them next time! The price was very affordable considering all that the place offered. Although we didn't meet our host, she was laid-back and welcoming through all our communications, and we felt very at home in her place. I would recommend this house for any group between 3-6 people (although technically it could sleep more). Be aware that if you do not have a car you will have to take a taxi from the Southeast train station, which came to around $30-$35 before tip. There is also no shopping within walking distance of the house or train station, so be prepared to bring your own groceries or else pay for a separate cab from the train station to the local shopping area (again, if you are like us and traveling without a car). Still, with a small group these costs would be fairly minimal. Many thanks to Amity for our wonderful weekend! We hope to come back very soon!!

    Rebecca2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amity’s place was just as described and fit our group of 6 very comfortably. It needed another cleaning though.

    Katie2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our plans changed and Amity was incredibly flexible with us and switched our check-in and check-out. The property is massive with a nice hike out back. We enjoyed our stay.

This lovely, compact, 1759 stagecoach house, recently renovated, will make a perfect country getaway--staging area for hikes, arts and crafts tourism in Beacon and Cold Spring, just across the river from West Point.
If you're interested in an easy getaway from the city, consider weekends or a week or two (or something longer term) at our newly renovated 257-year-old farmhouse, on the Appalachian Trail, about 5 miles from Fahnestock State Park, with miles and miles of hiking and cross-country skiing trails, and proximity to DIA, shopping, and great eating in Beacon, the Storm King sculpture park near Newburgh, and the Boscobel Shakespeare Festival (and farmers market) in nearby Cold Spring. The house is cozy in the winter, a perfect place to bring a dog or dogs for a country romp. There are two cats on site, one who spends all of her time outside. The other, Grace, is an inside cat who defends herself easily against the attentions of dogs. But if you are allergic to cats or dogs (we bring our dog when we use the house), this is NOT the place for you. Great lake swimming is nearby, within three miles. Fishing poles are available in the garage. The house fits 5 comfortably: 2 bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed, the other with three twin beds. There is also a large couch in the living room, and sleeping pads if you have more people. Located 60 miles North of New York City, in Fahnestock State Park, literally on the Appalachian Trail, this house will give you and five others all the privacy you need, as well as access to all season sports, beautiful gardens, and complete comfort. Completely updated, restored, maintained--and newly renovated kitchen, dining room, living room, bedrooms, and patio--1759 house; wide-plank pine floors, hand-hewn beams throughout. You can cook for yourself in a fully set up kitchen with white Carrera marble counters, eat at island, or in the dining room at an expandable oak table or (in the summer) on the little patio in back of the house. You can watch TV or movies on the 42" flat-screen TV in the living room, or on the 24" TV (no cable hookup) with DVD/VCR player in the master bedroom. There are wonderful farmers' markets nearby in Cold Spring and also at Fishkill Farms. The town of Beacon--with art galleries, restaurants, pizazz, and DIA--is 20 minutes away. The village of Cold Spring is also just 20 minutes away, with a Saturday morning farmers' market, and a summer Shakespeare Festival at Boscobel, overlooking the Hudson and West Point. There are gardens on all sides of the house, and we'll ask you to water some if it gets hot and dry. You should be able to pick fresh salad, and late in the summer, tomatoes. MetroNorth trains stop at Cold Spring and Beacon, with frequent service to and from NYC, where there are cabs (more at Beacon), and the ride costs about $35. There is no real public transportation in the area, so a car is a must for getting around, unless you're a hiker or serious cyclist. The house is a long stone's throw from the Taconic Parkway, which makes for terrific convenience and you'll hear traffic outside during the day--but no trucks are allowed, and it slows way down at night. With all new windows, the house is quiet and airtight. Please only make a fire in the firepit or chimney near the patio on cool, windless days. When it gets hot and windy folks worry about forest fires. Finally, note there is a caretaker on the premises--Steve--who takes care of snow plowing, light maintenance, gardening, and the on site chickens. He has a separate entrance and will remain unobtrusive at all times -- unless you need him. His bathroom is on the main floor, behind the hall curtain. Please respect his privacy and use the bathroom upstairs. Washer/dryer are in his space, so if you need some laundry done be sure and be in touch with him about timing. We'll leave you his number so you can text your wishes.
We love being on the Appalachian Trail, nearby Fahnestock Park, the views of the hills, and nearby Beacon and Cold Spring. And even though we hear cars on the Taconic, that means we are extremely convenient to NYC, Poughkeepsie, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Kent, and Millbrook.
  • Donna and Warren were very responsive to any questions we had and we loved their place! It was a great getaway from the City and they lent us their car to get around. The house was comfortable, artistically decorated, and felt like a home away from homes. It's such a plus to have the AT right in the back yard too! We hope to go back soon and bring friends!

  • Donna's house is welcoming, comfortable and incredibly convenient to NYC for a weekend getaway. Better yet the house is in the heart of the Hudson Valley and is very close to Cold Spring. Duchess, the cat, made us feel very comfortable as well (she's friendly) although she only reappeared right before our departure and was out and about the rest of the time. I hadn't realized how close the house was to the highway which was jarring at first but in the end did not matter. There were no highway sounds inside the house and its location right along the Appalachian made up for this aspect of the location completely. Would 100% recommend to any couple or small group of friends. Thanks Donna!

    jenny2015-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great New Year's here. Brought our 2 year old daughter so we were limited to how much we could do. But she loved Duchess the cat! Fantastic outdoor fire pit, great amenities and a warm and cozy interior. Only con would be proximity to the parkway and sound of passing cars. But it didn't bother us too much.

    Steven2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Donna and Warren have done an amazing job with maintaining the house. It was an absolutely pleasure staying there, and I intend to be coming back.

A spacious waterfront home with incredible lake views, large decks and direct water access. Only 90 minutes from the city. An ideal getaway year-round with swimming, kayaking, and canoeing in the summer, beautiful foliage in the fall. 3 Fireplaces
The Space: This is a 3000 square foot lake house directly on the water. The house has 3 bedrooms and can easily sleep 6 people with a king and two queen size beds. There are 2.5 bathrooms including a master bathroom with a tub and shower. The large kitchen is stocked with everything you need for cooking and/or eating. The house also has two very comfortable living rooms and a dining area. Each floor has a working fireplace. There is also a laundry room which you are welcome to use. Pictures are slightly out of date: The house still has the same number of couches and a large dining room table but the ones photographed have been replaced. The Lake: Whaley Lake is 252 square acres. The lake is surrounded by private property with one public area for rope swinging. The house has a large multi-level private deck with direct water access. There are kayaks, a canoe, paddle board, fishing poles and floaties for your use and enjoyment on the lake. The Area: The Appalachian Trail and other hiking options are only minutes from the house by car. There is food and shopping nearby with several supermarkets to choose from as well as local farm stands. There are also dining out options that are just a short drive away including the award winning McKinney and Doyle. The Patterson or Pawling Metro-North train is nearby for an easy commute to and from the city.
  • I visited Whaley Lake on a recent girls getaway weekend - we wanted a place between NYC and Albany. This house could not have been more perfect! The house is large, comfortable, clean, with a stocked kitchen for cooking in - which is what we did all weekend. The beds were extremely comfortable - bring an eye mask if you are sensitive to light while sleeping. The lake is beautiful. Sitting on or swimming off the dock was great. It felt like we were back in time, and hundreds of miles away from NYC. We have already recommended this place to friends! Daniel was a great host, very responsive and accommodating.

    Marissa2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic and relaxing MLK weekend at Daniel's lake house. It is surprisingly large and he left us a nice pile of firewood to keep us cozy and warm. Our group very much enjoys cooking, and we had three wonderful dinners. The kitchen is amazingly well stocked and includes an industrial stove. It snowed our first night, so we woke up to a winter wonderland and fantastic sense of privacy and quiet. We had fun making snowmen on the porch swing the next morning. We drove over towards Newburgh one day and went to Benmarl and Stoutridge Wineries. Benmarl was charming and had a couple of surprisingly good wines. Stoutridge has some, shall we say, unique wines. The house is also just a few minutes from the Appalacian Trail and we did a 4 mile hike another day. A bit cold but seeing Nuclear Lake was pretty cool. The only thing that would have made it better would have been swimming weather, but hopefully we will have a chance to come up again this summer! - Once quick note - the bedrooms don't have drapes. Privacy is not an issue, but if you are light sensitive, you may want to bring a sleep mask.

  • Stunning view in a stunning setting. The house is easy to use as Daniel sends you a full list of detailed instructions. While it was just my wife and I, this house would be perfect for large groups.

  • I had a terrific stay at this location. The house is very nice, cozy, quiet, and has a fantastic view. It is a great getaway destination for a small group of people. I also had a great experience working with Daniel. He is prompt, courteous, and professional. Our transaction was efficient, which is the way it should always be. I very much recommend this property if you are looking for a hudson valley vacation.

Likewise, the house is spacious, the kitchen is large, and there are two living rooms and lots of deck space to relax on. Daniel has a great canoe, kayak and paddleboard, plus more. Highly recommended. One note: the house could be kept a little cleaner.

  • This was by far the best Airbnb experience I have ever had. The house is gorgeous and clean. The lake and kayaks, etc. were wonderful. Daniel is very responsive and accommodating, and thankfully not the kind of airbnb host who makes you clean up everything even though you have paid a cleaning fee - much appreciated! We would absolutely love to come back.

  • Daniel was incredibly responsive from go. He quickly answered all of our questions both ahead of time and during our stay. He checked in on us and was super accommodating to our needs. Daniel's attentive support provided the perfect backdrop to our magical stay in this lovely home. The size of the house is not nearly conveyed in the pictures provided. It is large, open, bright, and provides panoramas of the lake from every floor. The lowest floor of the house opens to a large deck which looks down over several more layers each of which bring you closer to water and the dozen or so floats and boats included in your stay, including a couple of giant swans. The lake itself, which was empty nearly the entire time, was warm, beautiful, calm and inviting. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, our entire family was thrilled with the setting and the experience. We barely left the water!

Secluded on a knoll of Norway Spruce, atop eight acres, Frank Lloyd Wright associate Aaron Resnick's Mid-Century Modern (MCM) design is a classic example of organic Usonian architecture. This Usonian home features a completely private setting with a pool. This home is ideal for one couple or a maximum of two adult couples. The home is located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, minutes from Bard College, DIA Beacon, Millbrook Winery, Rhinebeck and Walkway over the Hudson.
The Calabi-Picker residence was designed and built in 1954. It enjoys 360-degree seasonal views of the Hudson River Valley. The home is nestled into its setting with minimal changes in elevation. The 2000 s.f. residence integrates its interior and exterior living areas with the use of open space, glass, stone and wood. The design creates a consonant harmony with nature. The formal entrance is the side of a carport (another well-known MCM design element). A short flight of stairs up a stone-walled hallway quickly leads to the main living area with walls of glass; an open wall with minimal built-in, redwood shelving; vibrant red stone floors and a layered blue-stone fireplace. Lighting, both direct and indirect, is discretely hidden in the cedar ceiling. Glass doors in the living room lead to a red stone patio and gardens, the red stone carrying through from inside to outside. The kitchen retains its original birch cabinetry, decorative tile work and built-ins. It opens to a study and hallway that leads to the master bedroom and bath, two bedrooms, bath with laundry and den. The bathrooms still have their original tile work and birch cabinets.
Our home is located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, close to Beacon, Rhinebeck, Breakneck Mountain, Millbrook Winery, the Dutchess Rail Trail and Walkway over the Hudson.
  • This exquisite home is perfect for a stylish and secluded getaway to the Hudson River Valley. Mike and Ryan were great hosts and quick to respond to any questions. While it was a bit cold for the pool, we enjoyed visiting many of the sites they recommended in their guidebook.

  • Michael's place is gorgeous. Nice balance of being very tucked away (can't see another house / neighbor in any direction because of how it is situated at the top of a very wooded hill) but still t wait to go back!

    Ron2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • GUESTS BEWARE. We booked Michael's house for the 4th of July weekend. Michael was kind enough to extend our stay with a complimentary first night. Unfortunately, on arrival, the pool was green. We contacted Michael & he assured us it would clear in 24hrs. 24hrs later the pool was still green. We contacted Michael again & he told us to give it another 24hrs. The condition of the pool had not changed and we were worried we would not be able to use the pool our entire stay. We contacted Michael again and he sent a pool maintenance guy. When the pool guy first saw the pool, he said; 'Well, I wouldn't swim in it!' Michael then called the pool guy, and all of a sudden, the pool guy changed his story. He showed us Ph and Chlorine levels - & said the pool was fine, even though it was still green. We were then told by Michael to wait another 24hrs. The next day, it was still green. We had three kids in our group - ranging from 3mnths - 3yrs. We weren't comfortable swimming let alone having our children swim in a pool that was full of algae. We chose Michael's house because of the pool. In the listing photos the pool had crystal clear water. Three days in, it became clear we weren't going to be using the pool. We told Michael we were going to check out early and head home, a huge inconvenience after driving all the way there–ruining our long weekend. We contacted AirBnB & they agreed to update the reservation with the earlier check-out date, and only charge 50% for the 2 nights we stayed. That's when Michael started playing games - he doubled the price in our reservation, so when AirBnB sent us the revised costs, they were calculated on this new inflated rate. We immediately alerted AirBnb, they revised it & said 'appropriate action will be taken'. Michael then told us we needed to vacate the property in 50mins threatening to 'lock the house remotely'. Completely unreasonable given we had to pack up 3 kids, the groceries we'd bought & all our things - & it was us that was being inconvenienced. He was completely unapologetic. We were hoping that was the end of our dealings with Michael. But a week later he sent us a completely unfounded claim for $1375 in damages. Highlights - he claimed $875 for scratching the stainless steel kitchen sink. And $150 for boiling a pot over on the stove. Ridiculous. We are super hosts & we take great pride in how we care for other people's homes - the claim is absurd. Aside from the issues with the pool the house was not cleaned to the level we’d expect from an AirBnB. Floors were dirty, cobwebs everywhere & the entire home smelled damp and musty. Our only bad experience on AirBbnb, a community we have been a part of for over 5 years.

  • The house was overall very cute. Pros: old timey and charming, great plot of land, awesome fireplace. Cons: bathroom downstairs, no real plates or silverware - kinda disappointing when you're cooking a large meal and the disposable fork keeps breaking. Very low rent. No booklet telling you wifi, check out instructions, etc.

  • It was just the way it was listed and it was nice being on top of a hill looking down. Convenient to route 9 with grocery shopping and such. Steve was very helpful and accommodating in getting us settled in. It was great to grill and have a fire pit and make a fire inside when it got cold, my friends and I really loved the being there for the weekend and would stay again it was perfect for relaxing with friends and family.

  • Steve's beautiful cabin is a perfect retreat from NYC. It's close to several Metro North stations on the Hudson Line, making it an easy weekend trip if you want to lie in the grass, listen to birds and feel at place. The home is spacious and fit five adults comfortably. We especially loved the grassy yard and beautiful living room, with an enormous comfortable couch and beautiful indoor fireplace. Steve was a very kind and responsive host. We felt well taken care of, and had a great stay.

    Kim2015-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house and it's surrounds are wonderful. We stayed in the large room with the balcony overlooking the lake - what a view. We saw it in brilliant sunshine and then with a mist that hung over it - both equally stunning. Our room served us well. The private bathroom was just down the hall and was perfectly adequate for the 3 of us. We met just one more couple staying in the house and they were very friendly. Saw a few more people coming and going as we sat out on the balcony. We stayed with our 4 year old son and he loved the instruments downstairs, entertaining his new friends! We spent Sunday morning on a boat on the lake enjoying the sunshine - just perfect! (and lifejackets are provided as well!) We also tried out the hammocks and swing seats. Was going to use the campfire but our son was too tired! He thought it was Christmas when he saw all the balls, Frisbees etc in the shed and enjoyed playing on the tire swing and the basketball court. Our room was the only one in the house that could control the temperature of the room but we only had to use it once. The house has a large kitchen that is free to use by guests as is the laundry room. We didn't go in the lounge as the bed settee was made up so we weren't sure if anyone was staying in there so we didn't venture in. There's plenty of leaflets and guidebooks for the local area to read in the kitchen. The house has free WiFi which was great for us to look up addresses of places we wanted to visit. Unfortunately Maggie and Marty were out of town for the weekend we stayed so we never actually got to meet anyone from the house, but we found our way around okay - there was printed information about the house in our room. We were in town for a wedding and the house has easy access to the main roads so driving to and from our destinations was simple. All in all it was a great stay and if I ever come back to New York then I would certainly look at booking with Maggie and Marty again.

  • Maggie and Marty were fantastic hosts. Very accommodating and easy going. They have a lovely house and the place is a perfect destination for a weekend getaway or longer. Would recommend to other hosts!

  • We had a wonderful time and would definitely return if we are in the area. Very comfortable, well lit, and roomy. Loved the pond for swimming and kayaking! Should bring eye mask if early light bothers you. Thank you for your lovely property! Met Carol- she was sweet.

  • Lovely room with gorgeous view, comfortable and spacious. Maggie was a warm and welcoming host. We'd love to come back!

    Kina2011-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Three of my boys- young men really -- and I stayed in this large room quite comfortably. Maggie & Marty graciously provided an extra mattress for additional sleeping comfort. We were sorry we could only spend one night, but now that we know about this charming farmhouse, we intend to come back. Although it was nearly 70 degrees out, it was the Thanksgiving weekend, and so we couldn't experience the trampoline in the pond, and other summer treats. But the house and grounds were charming (I used that word already, but it really fits!) and Maggie was warm, friendly, and inviting. I loved the little touches around this home-- craft projects Maggie and her children had done when they were small, folk art, and even a little picket sewn into the bathroom curtains, where a card is placed, containing a whimsical expression. The other guests were nice and friendly, yet gave us our space if we wanted it. They used the kitchen to the full, and prepared awesomely scented meals whose aromas wafted up to us, and then later they built a cozy fire in the big farmhouse kitchen fireplace. We didn't have time to do any of that, as it was a quick stopover-- but we hope to someday.

    Elizabeth2011-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed this large house in a peaceful setting. It was very clean. We loved the large balcony off our room. There are two things that make this a three-star review as opposed to higher: 1. Maggie had said they wouldn't be in when we checked in and that we could let ourselves in. She also said that there were some other guests. I assumed that Maggie and Marty would return shortly, but they never did, and the other guests never showed up either. I lay there in bed sort of wondering what was going on. We had left the house unlocked. Should we lock it? What if we locked someone out, etc. The next morning a housekeeper stopped by and told us the hosts were at the Jersey Shore. Wish we had known that when booking. 2. It says on the amenities list that breakfast is included but it is not. Another reviewer noted this a while ago and it should have been removed from the amenities list then. It was overall a good experience; I just would have rested easier with clear and updated communication from the host. And I guess it would have felt weird to have other people staying there and no host, frankly.

  • Possibly the best experience I've ever had on Airbnb. Victoria's home is breathtakingly beautiful. And, she's such an extraordinarily kind and warm person. I'm looking forward to visiting again.

  • Victoria's house is beautiful and she is the friendliest host. Everything was super clean, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the breakfast she made us was delicious. I can't recommend her home enough.

    Gabriel2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our first Airbnb was extremely enjoyable. Victoria was a great host. We learned a little history of Dutchess Co. N.Y., while meeting some interesting young folks. Not sure if we will find a better Airbnb host!

    John2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria is a super accommodating host and an amazing cook! (Breakfast was delicious!) The property and room are cozy and beautiful -- waking up to the sunrise overlooking those woods is an experience I'll never forget. It's far enough away from things to feel secluded, but close enough to partake in any activities you'd want to do during the day. Couldn't recommend enough!

    James2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • My brother stopped here for our first night on a 5 day bike trip from NYC to Montreal and I don't think we could have found a better spot to stay. Victoria was such a sweet friend to us and made sure that we were as comfortable as possible after a long day of biking. Victoria's home was even more charming than the images reveal and the space was very comfortable and inviting. I highly recommend the space and hope that I can return to stay again sometime.

  • Delightful stay with Victoria. A fabulous home in a bucolic setting. Lovely breakfast in the morning, and cute cats on the property too. Would have loved to stay longer.

  • I had read through the existing reviews for Victoria's place, all raving about how warm and wonderful Victoria is, how incredible the accommodations are, But even those couldn't do Victoria and her place justice! My friend and I went up for a quick one-night getaway, and by the time we left, we were so relaxed and taken care of, it felt like we'd been there for a week. Victoria is amazing. She was so warm, so attentive, but knew exactly when we might have wanted some private space. Her breakfasts really ARE amazing, and our favorite part of the whole trip was sitting and chatting with her throughout breakfast, out on the patio. She even offered to drive us to a nearby hike and swim. The room itself was exactly as the photos look. INCREDIBLE. We couldn't get over how dreamy the room was, and man was that bed comfortable. The rest of the house is just as incredible, beautifully designed and full of curious little items. The doors and windows were opened all day to the surrounding woods, which we loved. Will definitely be returning to Victoria's. Not only because it was a great place to hike, swim, and relax, but because it felt like we made a new friend!

  • Maggie and Marty are hospitable and helpful and their home is delightful, intriguing, and neat. A great place to stay for a bit or for longer. I'd definitely stay there again!

  • Maggie literally saved us from a nightmare campsite. We had planned to camp at Clarence Fahnestock Campgrounds but upon arrival, realized our site is on a parking lot with loud neighbors. We knew that our quiet, relaxing weekend in the woods was just not going to happen. Thank goodness for Airbnb (the best app EVER) because I did a search and found Maggie's place which was 15 min away. She responded immediately and we got to spent a lovely weekend on her wonderful, spacious property! Maggie is so friendly and easy-going. She had other guests when we arrived but she showed us to our room and gave us a quick overview of her home. The room was clean and comfortable and had a separate entrance for easy access. Our puppy absolutely loved running in the open fields so we're really happy the space is pet-friendly. We also made a fire by the pond so we were able to experience a bit of "camping" after all :) Would definitely recommend this beautiful airbnb! A great value!

  • Impeccable! Our stay at this lovely farmhouse was first-class. From our most amiable welcome to the many visible details of care, here is a place where we felt at once like cared for guests of honour and perfectly at home. We would absolutely return to stay with Maggie and Marty again.

  • Outstanding, thoughtful and considerate hosts with a beautiful property. The frozen pond made me want to return in the summer. Highly recommended.

  • Maggie's farm house was such a gem. We were in the area for a wedding and wanted to avoid the commercial strip hotels in Fishkill and this was such a charm filled alternative. From start to finish, Maggie was communicative, accomodating, warm and hospitable. The room was clean and bright. The house and property was amazing. A gorgeous farm house with warmth and a property that included views of a pond (that I swam in and was so refreshing) to hammocks, a barn filled with games, a basketball court and volleyball net. The yard went on for days. I wish we had more time to stay and enjoy. We plan to return with our friends and child for a country weekend since they have several rental options in the house. And it was an AMAZING value at $35 for the night. Highly recommend.
