“NEW!! (OPTIONAL) I now have a couple Louisiana waterway tours available exclusively to my guests. Come on board my 21-foot Chaparral ski boat where I will be your own personal skipper. Either tour will guide you through some of New Orleans beautiful and interesting waterways. 1. Tchefuncte River Tour – Starting on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, I will guide you and your shipmates through moss-covered cypress tree swamps filled with breathtaking views. Keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife and the historical homes lining the riverfront. Kick back and relax while we cruise down the river or enjoy a fun-filled day of skiing and tubing. Several restaurants are also available for a relaxing lunch or dinner. 2. Katrina Tour – This tour starts on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, taking you to where the flimsy levees broke leading to the disastrous flooding of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. You will learn about the events that occurred and see how billions of dollars have since been spent to build dams to protect the city from another Katrina-like catastrophe. If you’re feeling adventurous, we can go through the locks leading us into the mighty Mississippi River for a short boat ride. This will include sweeping views of our Crescent City. Finally, you will have the opportunity to go skiing or tubing on the Mississippi Gulf River Outlet (MRGO). Numerous restaurants and bars are also available along the way. Tours last between 4 - 6 hours. My ski boat can comfortably hold up to 8 guests and the total cost is $150 for either cruise. Bookings need to happen at least two weeks in advance. Refunds will be issued for cancellations made 24 hours before the day of the trip for any reason. Space and time is limited, so please inquire about the boating trip as early as possible. Thanks! Gary”

Food
“The Abita Brewpub is a full-service restaurant housed in the renovated building in which they brewed & bottled their beers until April 1994. The pub features handcrafted cypress window frames, a cypress and slate bar, and beaded wainscoting. Visitors can sample beers, ales and root beer at the tasting bar, purchase six packs or 1/2-gallon containers to go. Most noteworthy are the sweeping views of the Tammany Trace hiking trail, which are visible from two separate dining rooms, one of which can be booked for private parties. *Note the Abita Brew Pub is located in the town of Abita Springs at 72011 Holly Street. ”

“Abita Roasting is situated in a beautiful old house on the riverfront where you can enjoy coffee drinks, beer, wine and breakfast or lunch. Enjoy the fireplace inside, get a demonstration on coffee roasting or sit and chat at a table. If the outdoors is what you like, you can sit on the large front porch and take in the riverfront scenery as the boats go by.”
