“ Half-naked people like to enjoy the sun in the Tavrichesky Garden. This is the park for ordinary people to come and take a short stroll, while fitness freaks go jogging. Once it belonged to Grigory Potemkin, the favourite lover of Catherine the Great. Red Mountain, the raised terrace and cafe, is marvellous for sun lovers, and the kebabs are great. The park also contains a bright spot: The Tavricheskiy Palace (closed to the public) held the first State Duma (parliament) meeting in 1906, as did the Petrograd Soviet following the February revolution in 1917. Lenin's statue has been removed and replaced by Russian poet Sergei Yesenin.”
