Saint Louis Park Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Saint Louis Park

This historic South Minneapolis home combines the rambling, complex floor plan of Arts & Crafts design with the Horizontal bands of windows of a Prairie House and the sculptural interior pillars of the Beaux-Arts style.
This spacious, turn-of-the-century upper duplex was built in the American Eclectic Style common to the Midwest at the time of its construction in 1900. Not quite an architectural style unto itself, but rather a catalog of previous styles, Eclectic Architecture combined the best elements of each school in the name of expressive freedom. This historic South Minneapolis home combines the rambling, complex floor plan of an Arts & Crafts design with the horizontal bands of windows of a Prairie House and the sculptural interior pillars of the Beaux-Arts style. The effect is a sense of twisting and turning through the house as you travel through it, through misplaced doors and hidden passages, discovering, each time you turn, an unlikely staircase, a recess, a room where you think it probably oughtn't to be. Yet somehow there is a unity in it all; somehow it works. And that is the genius of American Eclecticism... In the long asymmetrical living room there is a sense of everyday comfort, a feeling that you are inhabiting a space created for the common man--even with twin white pillars standing above you in the room. The sun comes in from the south through the double hung windows, over the built-in bookcase, lights the cherrywood inlay in the white pine floors. A breeze comes through the transom. There is a sense of the simple life in the building materials as well as the design. Through the white cottage door, the sun porch hangs out amongst the trees, its thirteen windows looking down through the leaves onto the street. Sit and enjoy the sun, play a game of backgammon if you like, pull out the wooden sleeper sofa and take a nap. Listen to the warblers outside the windows. Have a seat at the drawing table. If it's Spring make a sketch of the fledglings in their their nest. Get yourself a beverage--just wind through the living room and through the columned entry, past the formal dining room to the kitchen. Pour some lemonade but continue through the kitchen, past the bath and into the little hall. Turn down the back stairs and go into the yard. Have a seat at the patio table or on a bench in the shade. Cut some fresh greens from the garden for your salad. Maybe take a bike out for a ride. There are eight in the garage so invite all your friends, your spouse and kids, and pedal to The Falls. Stop at Matt's on your way back to the house. It's just on the next block at Cedar. Eat a "Juicy Lucy" and fries and forget your manners. Feel too guilty for the poor innocent cows? Or like a bad parent feeding that stuff to the kids? Hop on the bikes again, pedal fast to The Seward Coop. You're there in ten minutes. Pick up some tofu and spring peas. Make a Brussels sprouts hash and eat laughing around the table. Stuffed? Watch a movie. Wait for the kids to pass out. Somebody make a run to The Cork Dork. 10 blocks down Cedar--six minutes if you hit all the lights. Try to find a nice Cabernet for ten dollars--you can do it. Maybe a local craft beer. Let the staff help you. ( You bet ya'! ) Everybody's so darn "Minnesota Nice!" Return, park the car out back by the garage, tip quietly up past the kids' room and join your other half on the sun porch and close the door. Giggle for a while and open the windows and look through the trees in the dark, and watch the lights of the city until everyone is asleep. All eight of you finally--two beds and two sleeper sofas. And when you open your eyes in the morning you can hear the warblers. Somebody is in the kitchen making the cage free eggs from the Coop and everybody eats at the patio table in the backyard. The kids run around under the Birch and the Cedar, maybe get out the Slip n Slide for a while. Everybody laughs and feels tranquil and happy and nobody sticks to the plan because you're all on vacation.
  • We actually changed over to Al's "riverside retreat" property (also in Mpls) which was great! Although a MN native, we have lived abroad for years, but try to come back for a few weeks every summer to visit family. We've been using airbnb the last few years for our accomodation needs as we prefer the "feeling" of being in a home vs a hotel with our two young children. And because we live in a flat, they love the adventure of being in a house with a yard... the simple pleasures of kids (; The river retreat is a lovely house where our family of four could make a "home" for our annual summer trip back to MN. Al is a fantastic and responsive host. Communication before and during our stay was great and everything was as described/depicted in the posting. It was immaculately clean and well provided for. Check-in/out was clear and easy- absolutely no issues. There were bikes and a BBQ for our use which was great considering the weather was fantastic while we were there. Locations was ideal- in a nice, safe neighborhood within easy striking distance of almost everywhere you want to be in the Twin Cities.... downtown Mpls and St. Paul, Uptown/Lakes, the river, the airport, etc. In short, we would definitely recommend this property and would certainly book it, or any of Al's other properties again! Eric & family

  • Everything went very smoothly with this stay from start to finish. The unit was very clean and comfortably furnished. We enjoyed riding the bikes downtown on Minneapolis' bike-friendly streets. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Antiques meet modern. A home away from home feel. It was great and when the opportunity presents itself I will stay there again.

  • Great place in a great location!

    Jeffrey2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, two teenage girls, our 10 year old son and I opted for this place so we could spread out without tripping over each other. We got exactly what we were looking for. Adults slept in the back room off of the kitchen and the kids took over the front bed room, utilizing one of the cots and a pull out sofa in the living room. I have read some reviews talking of noise; I didn’t find anything out of the ordinary. It’s an older home so don’t expect air tight. I heard very little from the floor below. After turning in at night, we could not hear the kids giggling and talking from the front room. The dining room table was perfect for us to sit and enjoy dinner and we had a blast using it to play a board game we purchased while visiting the Mall of America. This brings me to location. We found it to be perfect. First day I found a local grocery store to within 10 minutes’ drive. All attractions; Science museum, MOA, Minnesota Zoo we had no problems getting from Al's to attraction within 20 minutes. The house is stocked with an inventory of items that you could actually sustain for a full day without needing to go out. Bagels, cream cheese, eggs, milk, yogurt, fresh fruit and plenty of condiments are among things you will find in the kitchen. There are plenty of dishes, towels and bedding. Even unexpected items such as shampoo, conditioner and body wash. We utilized the washer and dryer, which is located in the basement and Al actually had laundry supplies to get a few of our items washed. This was nice since we had an 11 hour drive back home. The place was beautifully furnished and clean. I am a bathroom/kitchen snob and I was very comfortable in both areas. We had no problems settling in with a sense of well-being, very homey. Al was very timely to any and all questions I had and so was his property manager. When we arrived it was late at night, the front porch light was out, which made it hard to read the numbers from the road, I had to call Tim and he helped me to the right house (3rd house on the right as you turn onto the street from 35th) and you could hear the smile through his voice. There is also a light going up the stairs to the door that was out. Tim explained that an electrician would be there the next day to get it fixed and they did. I pray I have an opportunity to come back to Minneapolis. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else and highly recommend this place to anyone that has family or a small group that outweighs the confined spaces of hotel rooms.

  • Al was great at communicating and making sure all our questions were answered. He was very responsive and timely. It was so lovely to have so much space inside and out.

    Sadie2015-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Al is an excellent host and is incredibly helpful for your stay! The location is perfect, super close to the lakes, downtown and a quite, cute neighborhood.

  • Al's place is a well kept home with fun bits of charm. It's definitely older and creaky but was a great place for us for almost a week. We hung on the screened in porch most nights and enjoyed the weather. It's easy driving distance to plenty of things but the neighborhood itself doesn't have much to walk to if you don't have a car or want to Uber. Overall, nice place and we enjoyed!

You’ll love my place because of the neighborhood. Just a couple of blocks from downtown Hopkins for shopping and restaurants. We are 10 miles west of Minneapolis. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
This is a basement apartment, so you will hear some footsteps, and I have a small dog. I have really tried to think of everything you might need for your stay. The kitchen is small, but includes a microwave, gas oven, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, and a full supply of pots and pans, and a crock pot. There will be toast and cereal, coffee and tea for you to enjoy. The love seat pulls out into a bed for additional sleeping space. I think the space is a little crowded for three adults, but it is doable. There is prism TV with lots of channels, as well as a blue ray player and movies.
Hopkins has small town charm, but modern entertainment. The restaurant options are unique; we now have Japanese, Tibetan, Mexican, and Brazilian fare, as well as a pub, several traditional restaurants, and a brewery. There is a new comedy club in Hopkins, a cheap movie theatre, and the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Hopkins is also a hub for area bike trails. There is easy access to Minneapolis lakes via bike trails, and we are 15 minutes away by car.
  • Beth's basement apartment is exactly as it is described. She is an excellent host--very respectful of privacy, provides amazing amenities (well-stocked kitchen, breakfast/snack items, laundry facilities, etc.). She was incredibly proactive with communication as well as very responsive to any communication we initiated. Though this is below her living space, you would hardly know anyone was living upstairs--very quiet. We had some last minute changes to our schedule and she was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend this to people looking for a place to stay in Hopkins!

    Greg2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • It was clean, homey and had just the perfect space for our trip! Beth was very helpful and accommodating as well. Would definitely recommend.

  • Beth couldn't be a better host. She makes sure guests are welcome, safe and comfortable. Her Airbnb apartment is perfect for stays of any length; there are even a washer and dryer. Her home is located in a lovely residential area with great access to anywhere in the western Twin Cities.

  • This apartment felt safe and comfortable for my two-night stay. It's in a wonderful location, and Beth is a kind and thoughtful host.

    Jean2017-08-23T00:00:00Z

Walking distance to the cute village-like downtown of Hopkins. We will be staying with Beth on all our returns to see the grandkids. Very good value.

  • This is a fantastic Airbnb in the Twin Cities metro area. Close to everything, and as it's in the midst of the urban lakes, feels like a getaway on a lake cabin. My kids and I loved the backyard, the views, and hiking around the lakes, and playing in the parks close by. I now have new favorite neighborhoods in the Twin Cities! Grace, thanks to you and your family for a wonderful Airbnb experience. :-)

    Scott2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you're spending any amount of time in the Twin Cities this place is a must! It was so cozy, extremely close to everything we wanted to do, and the backyard was absolutely gorgeous. There were games, movies, snacks, toiletries, and plenty of space for all of us (5 in total). Grace was so quick to respond and even game us customized suggestions of things to do while we were in town. 10/10 would definitely recommend for families, groups of friends, or even solo travel.

  • Elizabeth and Paul were really good to us. The house was well equipped and the best part for my wife as a book lover was that the house was filled with very nice novels. They were quick to reply. The cottage was very thoughtfully organised. It is small and cozy. We had to leave early because of some unforeseen situation. Would definitely stay with them the next time we are in Minneapolis!

  • This is a really nice house located in a quiet, green neighborhood. There is a pretty porch adjoining the kitchen to sit and relax. There are pieces of art of East Asian origin decorating the walls. The bathroom is clean and simple, and natural lighting through a window, wakes me happy. The bed is comfortable, and I had a great night's sleep after a tiring flight. Deja provided plenty of clean linen and towels. She was also accommodating with my travel schedule. She provided clear instructions for checking in, and also her expectations and rules about the house. So there can be no misunderstanding. I wish I could have stayed here much longer.

Extremely nice upstairs apartment in a quiet and safe neighborhood with access to running and biking trails so close, and plenty of food and night life close by as well. Claudia was a great host and extremely responsive and helpful whenever I had any questions for her. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Thanks again Claudia for a great summer!

  • I was visiting St. Louis Park and Edina, so this was a convenient location. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable.

    Henry2017-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and Claudia was very attentive! Not only was the unit clean and in a great location, but Claudia encouraged me to borrow a bike so I was able to hop on the trail and explore the area. She even went so far as to add a little surprise (chocolate chip banana bread) in the fridge! Great experience and would gladly stay again.

The apartment perfectly suited our needs with a well-equipped kitchen, laundry, and ample parking. Great for a couple visiting Minneapolis, with easy access to downtown and the lake areas.

  • Judy was an incredibly thoughtful and welcoming host! My girlfriend, her 20lb terrier, and myself all felt very comfortable during our one week stay with Judy. Her home is lovely, extremely dog friendly, and in the most pleasant of neighborhoods. The room we stayed in had everything we could need and a super comfortable bed. We used the private bathroom in the basement and enjoyed hanging out down there to unwind. Judy was around the home often and spent a lot of time working in her beautiful garden. We are so grateful for the great stay. Thank you, Judy!

  • Nasreen is one the most sweetest and nicest person we have met. She made sure the house was clean when we checked in and showed us around. The house is amazing, contemporary and has lot of space. We had a great time and so did our guests. I would highly recommend this house as it is close to downtown but yet in quiet neighborhood.

    Swapnil2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Five close friends and I had a wonderful time staying at Nasreen's house, which is as warm and inviting as Nasreen herself. The house was clean, cozy and well stocked with everything we needed. Nasreen was easy to reach and made sure we were comfortable. Everything was above and beyond our expectations. Nasreen even hand delivered an iPad that we accidentally left behind to the airport. If we're ever back in MN, I think there's no question this is where we would like to stay.

This was very helpful because it is quite a large house with many amenities. She made me feel right and home and assured me to treat it as my own for the week. We were there from out-of-town for my daughters wedding. It worked very well to accommodate 6 adults and a child with room to spare. • Pros: If you want/need a fitness center, pool, etc. this place has them all. Kincaid was friendly and showed us where all the apartment perks were. There was a great fan in the room (that we didn't notice until the morning but would have been great if we'd paid attention and used it at night.) :) He was also open to suggesting things to do in the area. Things to note: It is street parking, we found 1 spot each time we came, but had someone taken it first, we'd have had to walk up the little hill to the apartment. Ran into an issue with check-in as he wasn't going to be available after 4:45pm so we adjusted plans to check in before our activities started. Felt horrible when I woke up to a text the next morning asking me to unlock the door for him to get in late the night before... He'd never told us he would need us to do that and we'd already passed out for the night so when I woke up and saw the message I was concerned about if he'd been locked out all night :/

  • Kincaid is a super friendly guy and a very attentive host. Upon arrival he showed me all the common apartment facilities before heading up to the room. Our home in Golden Valley is close to downtown Minneapolis, just 8 miles directly west. Golden Valley is a charming suburb with shopping, restaurants, multiple bus lines, walking/biking trails and parks all within walking distance of our home. You’ll love your stay with us because of the comfort of our home, the seclusion, the amenities that are easily accessible, and the wonderful proximity to Minneapolis. Our home is good for couples and business travelers alike.
Our house is located in a quiet neighborhood and situated at the top of a hill overlooking the neighborhood. In the summer time, the leafy trees hide our house from sight, several of our friends have dubbed it the "Tree House". Your room is located on the lower level of the house, offering seclusion and quiet. A separate entrance to the lower level offers even more privacy.
Our neighborhood is an older, established area with many lovely homes. One of the highlights is the General Mills Nature Preserve, which is just two blocks from our house. There is a one mile paved trail that meanders through this unspoiled area, full of nature, lakes, woods, and open prairie areas. We are conveniently located near General Mills world headquarters and to other major businesses, such as Carlson Companies and United Health Group. Golden Valley has a bustling town center, with restaurants (e.g., Doolittle's, D'Amico's, New Bohemia Brauhouse, Mort's Deli, and Schuller's Bar) and shops (e.g., Patina, Down in the Valley, and Ragstock.) all within walking distance (about 1 mile from the house.)

  • Tim and Wendy were fabulous hosts. Their home was clean, well decorated and they were very hospitable! Would recommend to anyone!

  • This was a wonderful place to stay! The decor and quality of the surroundings were better than we expected! Everything was tidy and very comfortable. Many bed and bedroom options. Two bedrooms with queens and two bedrooms with two twin beds each. Also a couple futons. We stayed with a group of three families with two small children each. Great space for the kids to play and adults socialize while keeping an eye on them etc. The bedrooms and layout of the house allowed for privacy between the families too. Loved that there were lots of towels, blankets etc. and a nice yard to play in. The screened in porch/patio was relaxing! This house is spacious and homey. The neighborhood was good too. We felt safe and there was even a security system. The available dishes etc were so helpful. Kitchen was big enough to cook large meals for the families. We had a wonderful time and the accommodations were great! The hosts were very responsive! I would highly recommend this house for anyone's trip!

  • I housed my family here for my wedding at Theodore Wirth Chalet. The house was situated blocks from the park and my venue making it so accessible. I would highly recommend staying here if you have any plans at Theodore Wirth Park. Also, the location was minutes from Lyndale and the freeway making it very easy to get around the city. The house is everything they describe it to be and more. My family loved it and felt right at home. There was plenty of space, roomy bedrooms, and nooks to hangout in. The house is actually very spacious and has everything we needed in it! Great quiet neighborhood.

  • Great place, excellent hosts, everything was as expected or better.

  • Dynamite spot and super comfortable for business travel! A++

    Eric2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Wendy were such great hosts! The house was so well kept and in a great central location! Also, they went above and beyond - and even had balloons ready for my mom's birthday at our arrival! Would highly recommend them and this location!

  • We stayed here for two weeks with two families. The house was clean and welcoming. Lots of space and you couldn't ask for a better location! Tim and Wendy are great hosts and we would strongly recommend this house to anyone who's visiting the area!

Large, sunny bedroom in basement with garden view. Best place to sleep in entire house, tucked away from the rest of the family. Comes with private bath, shared kitchenette, shared living room. Steps from Cedar Lake, close to uptown and downtown.
This bedroom is simple yet private, spacious and sunny with garden-level view of flower gardens, tucked away from the rest of the house for privacy and peacefulness. Private bathroom is an extra value.
Located in one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Minneapolis because its beauty and peacefulness. Walk to the parks, lakes, beaches from the front door. You might see the neighborhood deer, the red fox or a bald eagle while you are out. Ten minutes from both uptown and downtown with a plethora of restaurants and fun places.
  • Air B&B is not just about renting rooms but also meeting new and interesting people who live in a whole different area of the world than you. Elizabeth was one of those interesting people who was also a lovely, sweet, and accommodating hostess. Her home is in the middle of an upscale, trendy neighborhood 1/2 block from a lake and some of the most extensive, beautiful bike and walking paths that I have ever seen. This is not an area with a nearby hotel so staying at Elizabeth's gorgeous home was a real treat. I had a clean room, bathroom, and small kitchenette all private and for my use. I spent hours on the small screened in porch relaxing and watching the birds and chipmunks! Elizabeth recommended 3 outstanding restaurants and she helped make arrangements for whatever I needed. She went way beyond the call of duty for an Air B&B hostess, making my stay in Minneapolis fabulous. I feel I have gained a new friend and would definatly stay there again.

  • Our first airbnb stay and it was wonderful. Elizabeth was quick to respond to all our messages and even though the timing never worked to actually meet her, she was great. Beautiful room, private bathroom, and easy access in and out of our space.

Welcome to Tillie's Haus! She is about as cute as they come...but we are biased. We invite you to stay and experience her charm for yourself! Amazing location - just minutes to some of Minneapolis' best spots. Walking distance to shops, parks, Trader Joe's and the LAKES! She has recently been refreshed...but many of her original 50's charm remains including her kitchen with a Universal gas range. We invite you to come and make yourself at home!
Super awesome neighborhood - walkable to many amenities, shops and restaurants. Approx. 10 minutes to Uptown or DT Minneapolis. Distance from airport is approx. 20 minutes depending on time of day.
  • Good location. Fair price. Easy to work with.

    Kathy2017-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return to Tillie's House. The home is charming with comfortable beds and a nicely furnished living room. The photos are accurate although I was pleasantly surprised with how spacious the home is. There is a screen porch and outdoor space that we didn't use but looked nice too. The location is in on a quiet street in a safe neighborhood within walking distance of a variety of shops, restaurants, bakery, coffee. Kristen was very responsive and made our stay comfortable and easy.

  • Kevin and Dennie were gracious hosts and their place is truly a garden paradise! The household accoutrements were beautiful and much more than we expected. The 3 weeks we stayed there we entertained family and friends and biked the lovely Mpls lakes. It was perfect!

    Laura Belle2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place — very comfortable, amazing decoration, and the backyard is an oasis. One of the best places I've ever stayed. Can't wait to come again! Thanks Dennie & Kevin for sharing your place with me.

    Josh2015-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay at Dennie & Kevin's! The home is even more beautiful than the photos suggest. They very thoughtfully provided us with snacks and refreshments upon our arrival and invited us to enjoy the fresh vegetables and herbs from their amazing garden! The outdoor space is very inviting and peaceful; the perfect place to start or end your day. We cook daily, so we opted not to on this vacation, but would have been very happy to do so in their well appointed kitchen. The pool table was such a treat. We enjoyed playing together at the end of the day. This is a great place for entertaining. The neighborhood is upscale and quiet with a coffee shop/cafe and corner market within short walking distance. It is a very convenient location with quick access to both Uptown and Downtown Minneapolis. We would definitely return and highly recommend!

    Jon2015-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Dennie and Kevin are super nice. They care about the guests when you see the house inside. When we checked in, we found a guest notebook written by previous guests about their experiences of stayed in this house. The house is full of memory. Everyone had great experiences. The view of the house is super nice too. Dennie and Kevin take care the garden and it is gorgeous. Certainly recommend this place!

  • I want to thank you both so much, it was a pleasure to meet you and we enjoyed our stay in Minneapolis an especially your accomodation very much. Everything was perfect and excellent, we felt being home by the first second we saw the place. It couldn´t have been better. Everything was available and even wine and some snacks for us. I really hope to come to your place once again. Thanks so much.

  • I booked your great space for 4 visitors from Detroit. Here's their review - "This place is AMAZING! Its like a 5 star hotel but in a house. Dennie was a wonderful host. He answered all of our questions and made sure we were set up and had everything we needed. The fire place and pool table is definitely a bonus. I would totally recommend Dennie and Kevin's Air B and B to anyone!!!!"

  • What a wonderful place! It's hard to believe, but it is even more beautiful and well appointed than shown in the pictures. The gardens and landscaping are amazing and the interior is quite spacious and tastefully decorated. Dennie & Kevin were great hosts. They were very accommodating of our special request and helpful in getting us set up, but also not overbearing. The neighborhood is really charming and is very centrally located with easy access to the freeway and downtown Minneapolis.
