Cottage by the Ocean is close to art and culture, great views, restaurants dining, and museums. The guest room is dubbed the Tree Top because of the skylight and the corner windows tree view. Cottage by the Ocean is good for solo adventurers and business travelers. Please note that my two cats, Puppie and Pistol, help with the hosting. Convenient to Rockland, Rockport, and Camden. The room can accommodate 2 travelers (+$20). The set up can be viewed in the photo gallery.
Dubbed the "Tree Top" room because it corner windows look out on a wooded scene and the sky light always provides a glimpse of the sky. The cozy Ikea-styled room with s is quiet and comfortable for a short stay in the area.
Cottage on the Ocean features an unobstructed view of the Atlantic. Quiet neighborhood. The location is perfect if you are participating in programs at Maine Media Workshops, Center for Woodworking, The Apprenticeship Program or other extended length educational activities. Great proximity to Rockland's downtown Strand Theatre whether you're coming for a musical concert or for one of the many events such as the Camden Conference or the Camden. International Film Festival And of course The Maine Lobster Festival, The North Atlantic Blues Festival and Rockland's premiere art museums: the Center for Maine Contemporary Art and the Farnsworth Art Museum.
  • My stay was very pleasant and comfortable, with clean linens and a very welcoming host. Pam's cottage sits right on the ocean and the view of the bay from the porch and shower are breathtaking. The best part of my stay was the coffee on the porch, shared with An engaging conversation between Pam and I. This is the perfect stay for the single traveler, either passing through or looking to get away.

  • Pam has a great place to stay outside of Rockland's central area and is a great host! I highly recommend.

    Forrest2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Pam is a wonderful hostess! Her place is a garden paradise very tastefully decorated. The location is perfect for a Coastal Maine adventure or just a comfortable place to stay near wonderful Rockland.

  • Must be very tolerant of animal smells. Two cats reside in this home.

    Kathleen2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don't do justice to the view. We sat on the rocking chairs on the front porch with coffee provided by Pam and watched the sun rise over the water. It was perfect. Pam is an incredible host, and I am so, so happy with our stay.

    Madeline2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our short stay very much! It's a lovely spot and Pam was a most welcoming, friendly, helpful and communicative host, even sharing a delicious cake and her super interesting insideviews into local, Maine and US society and politics with us.

Small studio apartment attached to a main house in a small mid-coast Maine village. Kayaking, swimming, hiking and sight seeing nearby. Dog friendly with extra deposit.
  • Evelyn is a very generous host and her place is cheerful and calm. It served us well for a modest price. Well worth a look for a Midcoast Maine stay!

  • The pictures and listing were very accurate, and it is a sweet, sunny, well taken care of room. It was the perfect size for my boyfriend and I to use as a home-base while going off on adventures into Rockland and Bar Harbor. The kitchen was well-stocked, the heater kept us nice and warm, and we had a great time using this rental. Evelyn was great to work with - coordinated check-in and check-out logistics with ease - very responsive and helpful.

    Chelsea2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sunny and bright. Evelyn treated us as guests, not lodgers. Lots of windows and safe to open for the wonderful fresh air. Very sweet place and host. Home is in the countryside, which was very refreshing.

  • Amazing location. We loved walking to the ocean and enjoying ev's peaceful property. Her dog is very sweet.

    Tracy2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Evelyn's house was adorable and cozy and the location is really beautiful. We had a very nice time. I had to attend events in Rockland and it was a really short drive, no problem at all, and yet you feel like you're a million miles from civilization when you're there.

    Misha2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Evelyn was a great host! Though the apartment was attached to her home, we always felt like we had privacy. Would definitely stay there again.

    Shawn2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our brief stay in this rural area. The small, clean space-- an area off the main house-- is cleverly designed so it felt spacious. Lots of windows so you could see the outdoors. There was a cheerful little garden in the rear. You can sit and contemplate the waving stalks of Queen Anne's Lace, one of Maine's wild flowers. Location is excellent for those seeking nearby island adventures. We met Ev , who was very pleasant, and her lovely, sweet and quiet black and white dog. The price is economical for those who would like to stay in this otherwise very expensive area in the summer. Oh and a rooster crowed one morning! I was pleased but it only crowed once ...

    Margaret2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Just what I needed - a place to lay my weary head after a busy day. Everything was clean. Communications with Evelyn were easy. The area is gorgeous postcard coastal Maine.

The Southend is a friendly and vibrant oasis in Rockland. Located close to all restaurants, museums and points of interest, our neighborhood is a perfect base from which to explore the area. It is a working waterfront neighborhood with the boats, people, noise and action commonly associated with such an environment.
The second floor apartment of The Daniel W. Look House is located on Mechanic Street , the southern border of the Southend, with water views over the harbor towards Owls Head. The entry way foyer and stairs lead up to the open living room and kitchen. To to the left the bedrooms, with the queen suite looking out over the Sail, Power and Steam Museum. There is a full bathroom including a washer and dryer stack. The whole apartment has just been completely renovated from fresh paint, fresh sheets and refurbished white pine floors.
The neighborhood includes The Coastal Children's Museum, The Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center and the Sail, Power and Steam Museum. There are many Victorian houses to view and plenty of shaded streets to stroll. Unfortunately my neighbor's barn was involved in a fire, so there is ongoing work. The community has rallied to help.

  • I highly recommend Matthew's place. It's clean, has everything you could need (from kitchen items to board games to a washer & dryer), is a short walk to town, there is a lovely park across the street and so blissfully quiet. Loved the added touches of fresh flowers, a bowl of fruits and veggies and local Maine blueberry jam! There were only two of us but there is plenty of room for a family or two couples. We felt right at home and didn't want to leave! Thank you, we will be back!

  • This was a gem of a spot! Location is great as you have access to Rockland, Lincolnville, Camden, Belfast. You have an incredible view and a beautiful deck. The house is filled with fun things to look at and admire, and be prepared to cook a mail or two .... the kitchen has all kinds of things. We can't wait to go back.

  • My best friend and I booked Joelle's place to get away from the city and disconnect for the weekend. This is a beautiful home in rural Maine but it's SO CLOSE to so many attractions! We visited Breakwater Vineyard and the Transportation Museum just minutes away. Downtown Rockland was just 15 minutes away by car. We also had a picnic by the beach. The kitchen was fully stocked, perfect for cooking our own meals. We could not have asked for a better place to spend the weekend. Sitting on the reclining chair with a blanket, book and coffee was the best feeling ever. I will so come back again!

    Abigail2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks, Joelle, for sharing your wonderful cottage with us. We were very comfortable there. The 4 of us kept saying that we were so much more comfortable in the cottage than we would have been in a motel. The cottage was very homey and well-appointed; we had everything we could want there. The cottage is right on the water in beautiful Owl's Head. There are hiking trails nearby, and Rockland and Camden are close. We visited the Farnsworth Museum and the Olsen House - very moving experiences. There is much to do in this area. There were kayaks available at the cottage if we wanted to go out on the water., and there is a lovely ocean-side deck. The cottage was less expensive and more comfortable than a motel. It was very homey and very clean. I asked Joelle for recommendations for restaurants and fish markets. Her suggestions were right on. We cooked at home one night after buying fish from her suggested market, and went out for the other, and we were very happy with the restaurant she suggested. Thank you, Joelle, for sharing your wonderful waterfront cottage with us. Ann McGrath and party

  • Superb ocean cove views . Great outdoor seating , tucked back away from road. Good separate sleeping arrangements for privacy.

  • Cozy, comfortable, simply furnished place for getting together with friends. Beautifully situated for a casual retreat on the coast, the deck by the water is perfect for taking in the view while enjoying wine and conversation. The kitchen is well stocked with tableware, utensils, coffeemaker, teapot, etc. -- everything we needed. Striking artwork and a wide variety of books added to our enjoyment; wifi and cell phone reception was also appreciated.

    Kathleen2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nice quiet property. Great location within 5 minutes to downtown. The kitchen was fully stocked for anyone who would like to cook. If you go out on The Kayaks make sure you check high tide low tide times. Over all my family enjoyed our entire stay. We will definitely come back to Maine.

Charming and private loft in beautiful village of Owls Head. Walk or bike (2 bicycles available) to Lighthouse, Harbor, Rocky beaches and General Store (voted best Burger by the Food Network). Short car ride to Airport, museums, galleries, restaurants and boutiques. Come stay in a Postcard setting!
  • Jacqueline's loft was very comfortable and inviting! We would definitely stay again. It is a close walk to Owls Head lighthouse and to the water. Having lunch or dinner at the Owls Head General Store is a must. Jacqueline's place is also super close to a beautiful winery! Jacqueline has everything that we needed during our stay. The pictures do not do the place justice. Gorgeous! Had a wonderful and relaxing time.

    scott2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline's loft is a great place to get away and escape to! Gorgeous wood construction paired with a mix of posh, quirky, and historical pieces make the space feel like a modern lake house or cabin with a twist. It was the perfect size for two people staying a few days and we found it to be very comfortable and private. Would definitely recommend!

    Jaimie2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Jacqueline's place. The space was beautifully decorated, spacious and very comfortable. We had everything we needed for our stay. The loft is in a quiet location that is convenient for bicycle riding. Rockland is a short drive away and Acadia is close enough for a day trip. We enjoyed visiting coastal towns, swimming at a nearby sandy beach and walking to the wharf. Jacqueline was warm and welcoming. She was available if we needed anything. We highly recommend Jacqueline's place and would stay there again.

  • Loft was very nice. Updated and modern. Nice kitchen and bathroom. Nice location as close drive into Rockland. The host was helpful and friendly.

    Mel2017-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline was a very generous host, and her guest apartment feels like a quiet retreat but with all the conveniences of home. The location near the small marina and the state park is ideal for walking and contemplation, but it is close enough to Rockland and Camden to take advantage of those charming towns fully.

    Matthew2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I just spent the week at Jacqueline's loft and we are just thrilled with our time there. What a charming property nestled in the quiet country village of Owl's Head...and what a gracious host! The loft was beautiful and exquisitely furnished, it had every amenity we could possibly need. Jacqueline was very sweet and went over and above to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We really enjoyed talking with her and sharing our experiences while there! We took morning walks to the nearby harbor to watch lobstermen at work and also to the Owl's Head Country Store to enjoy a delishious homemade breakfast. A very short drive to Owl's Head State Park where we visited the lighthouse and a beautiful rocky beach. A little further drive and there were many quaint boutiques, museums, art galleries, taverns and waterfront dining in nearby Rockland and Camden. Our trip could not have been any better! We look forward to coming back next year!

    Carol2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline's cottage was impeccably neat and beautifully furnished. It was relaxing and very private and quiet. Perfect for a getaway but not far from town center and lots of great restaurants and activities. Jacqueline is a wonderful host too, we could hardly tell she was there except when we needed to ask a question or get a suggestion and then she was totally attentive.

  • Genevieve's is a really lovely place to stay. Great location in Rockland just a short walk from the centre of town. The house is old and fabulous with a lovely garden and trees full of interesting birds like the funny, bright red cardinals we saw bouncing around the tree from the upstairs bay window. Very comfortable bed and really fab bathroom and tea-making and coffee-making stuff in the room with lovely tea and coffee waiting for us. Woody is one of the nicest dogs I've ever met and makes friends instantly - he met us at the door. Genevieve is a great host and interesting company. We had a fab brunch down the road in the Home Kitchen Café of delicious benedicts and excellent fried potatoes.

    Katie2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and nice stay - Genevieve is very nice and helpful!

    Randall2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed with Genevieve for 6 nights the first week in August. G is an outgoing, gracious host and Woody, her 2-year-old “puppy”, is the friendliest of Shepherds. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. G’s is grand home built in 1897, a convenient 1-mile stroll from the Rockland waterfront and the center of town. Her guest room is located on the second floor, spacious, with a very comfortable memory foam Queen bed; so comfortable that we found ourselves sleeping later than our usual. Adjoining the bedroom is a small, bright sitting room with a compact refrigerator, microwave, jug water dispenser and small bar top with coffee maker, kettle, dishes, glasses and cutlery for two. With this at our disposal, we peacefully enjoyed beverages each morning to get us going and others each evening to calm us down. Both the bedroom and sitting room have large screened windows left wide open for terrific fresh air circulation – no need for AC. Across the hall from the bedroom is a spa-like, newly renovated bathroom sporting a massive tub and a separate large tiled shower. During our stay, we had exclusive use of the bathroom, which was delightful.

    Richard2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • I very much enjoyed staying at Genevieve's place. She was lovely, the room was very comfortable, she has a sweet dog, Woody, who was very friendly. Because of the way the house is sited, and where the room is, it kinda felt like being in a treehouse. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was huge with a great shower. The extra room with the tea making facilities was a sweet addition, streaming with light in the morning, a very cosy place to take your morning tea/coffee. Genevieve was a lovely host. I would gladly stay with Genevieve again.

    Samantha2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend Genevieve's place as a base to explore Rockland. Genevieve was very helpful and the accommodation feels more like a hotel suite than a room, as there is a second room with coffee, table and chairs, and a most luxurious bathroom with a huge bathtub. It's a nice 10-15 minute stroll from the town center. All in all a wonderful place to stay in Rockland.

    will2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Genevieve's home was just what I expected and needed. A clean, comfortable room and bed across the hall from a private, spacious, clean bathroom, and amenities that allowed me to keep food cold. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, as is the host, so it's very easy to feel comfortable coming and going. The room shares a hall with Genevieve and her son, but I only had minor awareness of their presence.

    Ken2017-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Genevieve's photo & description do not do the space justice. The sitting space just visible through the bedroom door is a small room with bay windows, a table and two chairs, coffee maker, water, refrigerator, microwave. The bathroom is across the hall, but luxurious & dedicated to the guests. Access is through the house, but Genevieve could not have been more gracious or unobtrusive.

  • Kathleen and Gregory could not have been any more welcoming! We truly enjoyed getting to know them, sitting in their wonderful kitchen chatting over wine and starting the day with a homemade breakfast, down to the freshly baked bread! It inspired me to start baking again! The location was handy to explore the coast, and it only took us 2 hours to drive to Acadia (though when we saw the crowds there we wished we could be back on the farm!). Thomaston itself has wonderful old houses. The farm is charming and the house has a lot of character.

    Graham2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Historic home on a beautiful farm. Gregory and Kathleen were warm and welcoming. The room, on the second floor, was quite comfortable. And breakfast -- oh my, just wonderful.

  • We loved our stay with Kathleen & Gregory, very warm & hospitable couple. The property is absolutely gorgeous, a true Maine retreat. Enjoyed our conversations with them and the delicious breakfasts they served, hope to stay with them again on our next trip to Maine.

  • Our stay with Gregory and Katheleen exceeded our expectations in every way. It was the most authentic and wonderful Airbnb experience we have ever had. The house was cozy and comfortable and the gardens were charming. We had an amazing dinner at the local restaurant (Slipway) and Gregory and Kathleen gave us many suggestions of places to visit nearby. Thank you for the wonderful conversation and 5 star hospitality!!

    Devon2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely wonderful! The breakfast alone is utterly worth it and we felt like little chefs cooking in this magnificent kitchen. Interiors have the passion for detail. Beautiful gardens around the farm. Gregory and Kathleen are very warm-hearted people and we felt ever so comfortable staying at their place. Highly recommendable. P.S. Super sweet kittys here to play with

  • Kathleen and Gregory offer a beautiful Farm and Home to all who visit. the warmth and welcoming nature of the atmosphere they figuratively and literally cultivated is immediately felt. Breakfasts were incredible, heart, healthy and filling. Highly recommend.

  • Gregory and Kathleen were perfect hosts. They were very friendly and kept the guest rooms very clean and well maintained. They made coffee and breakfast with fresh fruit in the mornings. The garden was beautiful, with plenty of outdoor seating, and there was a very nice beach with 10 minutes of the house.

    Laith2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Both Gregory & Kathleen opened their home and lives to us for our short two day stay. We had such a wonderful time as I'm sure everyone who visits will do too. The garden was magical and their love & knowledge along with it. We enjoyed an amazing Maine breakfast, of coarse with blueberries. Gregory and Kathleen both would be the hosts that would let you do your own thing, we however enjoyed there company and spent manny times having wonderful conversations. We hope everyone takes the opportunity to stay with them both in there beautiful home.

Our two bedroom one bath ocean front cottage is tucked away on a private road in Owls Head, ME. Private beach with great views of Muscle Ridge Chanel. Close to food and art in Rockland and Camden. Interior is dated, but clean and comfortable.
Great location right on a quiet cove.
On a private dirt road with 6 other cottages.
  • Nathaniel's cottage was just as described - cute and private and sitting on the most gorgeous view of the water imaginable. We had lots of rain at the beginning but we were able to have breakfasts on the screened in porch and watch the rain and the water - it was great. We took both a rain walk and a sun walk to Birch Point(?) state park which was wonderful with great water views. Nathaniel answered our questions about weather and attire and things to do in the area so we were pretty prepared when we arrived.

    Dee2014-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful trip. We absolutely loved the cottage. It was perfect for our family. Super clean, convenient to Rockland, and the Owl Head Lighthouse and other little treasures. It felt like home. We loved sitting on the porch in the morning or at dusk watching the boats come in and out of the cove. Our kids loved treasure hunting at low tide. Nathaniel was responsive and helpful. It was great place and we loved our trip. Cant wait to visit again!

    Jessica2015-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • My husband I just stayed at Nathaniel's Cute & Private Cottage and it was just that! We had a fantastic time relaxing on the sunny porch or in the adorable adirondak chairs on the lawn. The cottage absolutely lives up to its description. Although nothing fancy and a little dated, it was clean and had everything you would need for cooking a meal or enjoying a night in. Nathaniel was courteous and prompt to respond to our questions. The property is right on the water and during low tide you can take a stroll on the rocks around the beach, during high tide you can sit and listen to the waves lapping and just enjoy the sunshine, The house is off the paved road and into the woods a bit but is very private and found easily enough by smart phone/GPS, but would reccommend making your first arrival during the daylight. There are 2 state parks on Owls' Head that are definitely worth checking out and close by in Camden you can hike or drive to the top of Mt Battie for gorgeous views of the coast and islands. Dinner at Primo just outside of Rockland ~10min drive, was incredible! Very nice contemporary fine dining (make a reservation). Although not equipped with internet or cable (which was ok with us) we had reliable enough reception with Verizon to get what we needed as far as local restaurants, directions and shopping all close by in Rockland just a few minutes drive into town. We truly enjoyed our stay and found it to be just the right amount of tranquility and adventure. Only thing to note and be prepared for that we werent aware of is that there is no washer/dryer or outside trash receptacle or pick up and the host requests the linens you use to be cleaned and trash to be taken care of however this was easliy worked out by contacting the host. With all that being said - we definitely plan to return in the future and are already looking forward to relaxing again in beautiful Owls Head!

  • My husband and I just spent four nights at Nathaniel's cottage. We wish we could have stayed longer. It's a really special place on a picturesque Maine bay. We loved sitting on the screened porch watching the Eiders float by and the Osprey feed their chicks in the nest next door. Like another reviewer, we often camp, so it was a treat to have a safe place for our dog and our belongings while we explored. The cottage has all the necessities - plus that gorgeous view! The location is fantastic too. We walked to Birch Point State Park several times and enjoyed the Owl's Head Lighthouse. We walked the breakwater and had some great meals in Rockland. We visited the spectacular Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, and did a Puffin cruise out of Boothbay Harbor. We did not get to the Farnsworth Art Museum or a few other things on our list, so we need to return. Thank you Nathaniel for making your cottage available!

  • We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. Everything was just as described on the post. We loved that we could walk to the Birch Point state beach which was only about a mile away.

  • The listing description was very accurate. This cabin is in a quiet and beautiful location, right on the water. We enjoyed everything about our stay here, including the variety of birds on land and sea. The location was great as a base for further exploration of Maine. Nathaniel responded quickly to the only question we had during our stay. The only possible drawback that we could see, for some, is the lack of good cell service. The cabin was clean and very comfortable.

    Silke2016-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at this simple but beautifully situated cottage..cozy, great views, comfortable mattresses, nature abounds! The screen porch a big plus. Thanks!

    Julia2015-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in the cottage. It is very nice and clean and you find everything you need. You can just stay and relax and enjoy the beautiful view or you visit one of the small cities nearby which are also very nice. All in all we had a lovely time out there and the Kids had lots of fun as well! Thank you!

  • Tim & Susan were very welcoming & gracious hosts while being unobtrusive - fresh herbs in the kitchen, some supplies in the fridge. We appreciated the tour of the barn and studio. The cottage is comfortable and cosy and in a beautiful setting. The little balcony and outdoor fire pit were great to enjoy the afternoon and evening. Thomaston, Rockport and Camden are all in easy access and provide a number of dining options. In late fall the surrounding countryside is spectacular. would highly recommend!

  • We love Susan and Tim’s Oyster River Farm Cottage! Last summer, my wife, kids (ages 13, 13 and 20) and I spent a lovely week in Camden and we wanted to come back this summer for a longer vacation. So we booked the Farm Cottage for four weeks. My wife’s parents also joined us for a week, and later so did my parents. Thus, for a while there were seven of us—eight counting our bulldog Gracie. Everyone – including Gracie--had a fabulous time and we couldn’t be happier with our Thomaston vacation. The Farm Cottage is a cozy, comfortable house conveniently located not more than a ten minute drive to downtown Rockland, with its restaurants, cafes and the wonderful Farnsworth Museum, and also about 20 minutes from Rockport and Camden. It’s an old house and so not without its challenges: steep-ish stairs to the second floor and basement (where there is a washer/dryer) and, just one bathroom (which we thought would be a challenge with seven people, but with a little planning worked out fine). Incredibly, we never once ran out of hot water. My three favorite things about the house: The master bedroom on the first floor; it was wonderful to wake up in this beautiful room every morning. Second, Susan and Tim’s lovely paintings which adorn the walls. And finally, the fabulous grounds: a mown path to the river, a flower garden, a small house by the river with a fire ring outside. A week before we arrived, our hosts’ daughter was married on grounds, and so we assumed the grounds had been done up for the occasion; but four weeks later, they were still as lovingly tended as the day we arrived. Susan and Tim are the perfect hosts. They are there when you have a question about the house or need a recommendation for a restaurant, but otherwise happy to leave you be. They are extremely generous and we made a wonderful feast with the vegetables they brought us one day from their garden. They live in the house next door and their presence is akin to having really wonderful neighbors. A highlight of our stay was a visit to Susan’s studio. We all ended our month at the Farm Cottage wanting to come back again. I suppose I should mention some less than fabulous aspects of the Farm Cottage so you take my gushing seriously and book your stay today. Okay, bring mosquito repellent. We had one rainy week and the mosquitos were pretty bad outside in the evening, although the other three weeks were fine (meaning if you spend an hour or two grilling outside, you’ll come inside with just a couple of bites). Secondly, the wifi signal is not so great. It’s fine for emails and most internet tasks -- not so great for streaming movies. But bring a few books from home that you’ve always been meaning to read and you will be all set.

    Juliana2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, and the hosts were very accommodating (we arrived in the middle of the night). Definitely recommend it!

    Michael J2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • He welcomed us in person, and stocked our refrigerator with orange juice, granola and yogurt. A lot of thought and planning must have gone into preparing this house for overnight guests, from fluffy clean towels to basic kitchen ingredients to laundry detergent and fabric softener. The booking on airbnb went very smoothly and quickly.

    Lilian2016-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Were in the area to close escrow on a summer cottage and were so fortunate to have found the farmhouse. Wonderful, cozy, charming, great use of space and lots of very thoughtful extra touches. Our lab, Spencer, thoroughly enjoyed the expansive property and romps down to the river. Our daughter and son-in-law were ready to move in permanently. Thanks so much, Tim and Susan, for sharing this special, magical place.

    Jackie2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was truly a cottage, and our boys ran down the property as soon as we arrived. We were here on the hottest day of the summer, so without air conditioning, the upstairs got a bit steamy, but we made sure to use the provided fans. We loved playing Monopoly in the family room. One thing to note is that the mosquitoes are plenty in summer, and while the hosts provided bug spray, our boys didn't want to venture back down to the creek due to the abundance of them. It was great to have breakfast items including fresh raspberries and a few craft beers on hand for our arrival- thank you!

    Ginny2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely roomy comfortable farmhouse, complete with antiques and artwork by the owners. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds comfortable with pristine linens. Susan offers watercolor lessons. Great teacher.

    Barbara2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our short stay at this cozy cottage on a large, scenic property good for a long stroll. Tim and Susan were very hospitable, and had things very comfortably set up.

Rockland is a wonderful town with great restaurants, galleries and a fabulous museum. A fun place to explore. Dee's apartment is indeed sweet, bright and comfortable. It is meticulously kept, having a white glove level of cleanliness. We highly recommend the Sweet Willow Suite

    Moira2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Dee was great! She was there apon arrival to greet us and show us the place. The suite is very nice and very clean. Just a short walk to the main strip of Rockland and a short drive to many lighthouses and winery's! Loved our stay there and hope to make it out there again soon, would absolutely recommend a visit here and stay in the Willow Suite!

  • I stayed at Dee's Sweet Willow Suite for one night. It was impeccably clean, nicely appointed and had everything you need for a comfortable stay! Dee was lovely and so helpful. At her recommendation, I stopped by the Rockland Farmers Market Thursday morning! Great Coffee, breakfast bialy and a bounty of local produce! What a great first experience with Airbnb! Bringing the whole family next time. Thanks Dee!

    Laureen2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place. Check in and check it were simple. The apartment is centrally located and off street parking is included. We did not meet Dee, the host, as she was out of town, but she was quick to respond and gave great recommendations for things to do. Would consider staying here again in the future.

    Wesley2016-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Dee greeted our arrival in person with enthusiasm. She introduced us to her rental and was helpful in suggesting dinner options ( Primo and Rustica). She made us feel thoroughly welcome.

    John2016-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • When my boyfriend and I realized at the last minute that we were heading up to a Maine wedding with nowhere to stay, Dee was amazingly responsive and helpful. Despite the fact that she herself was traveling to a family event in New York at the time, she was able to quickly get back to us and work with us to iron out our late-night arrival time. And not only was it a great last-minute spot, but it was great overall -- full kitchen, very clean and clearly well-cared for. Plus, it was walking distance to a great brunch spot. Don't hesitate to tap Dee's knowledge of the area!

    Amanda2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful five day stay in Rockland with Dee who is a thoughtful and accommodating host. The space is cozy, comfortable, and private, and for a typical Maine winter and as someone coming from summer I didn't at any stage fear for my warmth! I can only imagine how wonderful it would be in summer and hope to be back to Maine some day soon!

  • Kaylyn was extremely communicative before my stay and Louise was wonderful as well! There was a beautiful gift of wine and a gift certificate that was delivered, thank you. The house provided a quiet and comfortable place to land after long training days at the studio. And such a beautiful walk to downtown. Thank you so much for the hospitality and sharing your home away from home! This is a gorgeous place for families, couples, and travelers who seek a little quiet following your days of adventure.

  • All was great, just fine.

    Jan2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy with the accommodations we'd booked. Kaylyn was always immediately responsive, pleasant, and represented her home perfectly in the description. We brought a 3 year old who was thrilled to find toys available and of course, the lobster pot got used with all the appropriate utensils available. The house itself was very comfortable - from the beds to the living room furniture. We used the grill outside every night and the dining room fit our family of 5 perfectly. Overall the house had a cozy, New England feel with beautiful hardwood floors, built-ins and near beach/town location. Perhaps our nicest take away was the visit from Louise offering homegrown tomatoes and a warm welcome. We wouldn't hesitate to return to this home that was a well priced and well advertised home.

    Julie2016-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Location is great and easy to get to. No problem with host always available and had a house manager available for questions. Furnishing need some updating but overall satisfaction.

  • Daria was a great host! She was very responsive to our questions and took the time to give us a tour and go over the little nuances of the house. The house is charming!! You are secluded with a large yard and on a quiet street but just two blocks up and your in town. If you want to unplug and unwind this place will help with that.

  • This is a great 2-bedroom house in a convenient, quiet location. The beds were very comfortable and the linens were pristine. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom (new fixtures) had lots of towels. The hostess left delicious breakfast food and snacks. She was very welcoming and friendly and met us and explained everything. We didn't have time to explore Thomaston but it is a cute town and we would like to come back and spend more time.

The house is well-appointed, very clean, and near lots of fun activities (such as hiking on the George's Highland Path, restaurants in Rockport and Camden, beaches at Owl's Head, and an unbeatble lobster shack- McCloon's). Daria was a great host- highly recommended.

  • Highly recommend the Morse House! Was so welcoming, spacious, immaculate and host Daria made such special accommodations with yummy breakfast items and snacks! The beds were the most comfortable ever... reminded me of the "Heavenly" beds they use at the Westin. Kitchen, bathroom were all well planned out with anything you may need. Also, the grounds were beautiful... several places to sit and enjoy coffee or evening beverages in a very relaxing setting. We LOVED staying there.

From the beginning, her communication was clear and timely. The house is gorgeous with an expansive porch, decks, and backyard. She provided great recommendations for food and adventure in the area and left us a bottle of wine and fresh coffee so we were all set! The location gets you to all mid coastal Maine attractions very quickly and Lobsterfest in Rockland was right around the corner! Erica was very attentive to anything we needed and made sure things were as they should be, Great!

  • We were in town for a wedding and needed a place big enough to stay with all our friends. This was perfect! So quick to get to Rockland or to trail heads for some hiking. We had a big bbq for the 10 of us while enjoying the back deck. But it was also enough space for all the couples to have privacy. Highly recommend as a spot for exploring the area.

  • This is a fantastic option for a family or large group of friends, particularly with young children. Our girls (4 y/o and 6 y/o) had a great time exploring the backyard, playing on the swing set, hanging out in the playroom and swimming in the pool. The house has ample space so you don't feel like you're on top of each other. The owners were very responsive. We hope you enjoy a visit to South Thomaston / Rockland like we did!

  • We have had an amazing stay in SouthThomaston. The house and garden are a kids paradise. Elizabeth was a great host and always available for advise. Matt was kind enough to take us on his boat for the full Maine experience! Thank you so much Breens Family!

    Isabelle2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is gorgeous, huge, and totally perfect for young kids, plus the area is beautiful. Perfect place for people with young families to holiday together. Elizabeth was out of area when we stayed but was super responsive and helpful. Make sure you download maps offline before travel as the area is a black spot for some 4G carriers (the house has good wifi though); also make sure you're clear with Elizabeth on directions as (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps will take you to the wrong location. We all had a wonderful weekend - thank you Elizabeth and family!

    Georgia2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house was nice and super big. My friends and I enjoyed the pool and the deck. The master bed was pillow soft and by far the most comfortable. It was secluded and we really enjoyed the pool!

  • Cathy was a fabulous host! The apartment was beautiful and extremely clean. She had great suggestions on places to go that fit the needs of everyone in my group. A friend left her necklace and Cathy graciously mailed it back to her. Highly recommended.

    Kate2014-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy was very friendly but respected our privacy. Very helpful in helping us locate restaurants and places of interest. The house was very clean and spacious.

  • The fact that this was our second summer in a row staying at this fabulous apartment speaks volumes. It remains an elegant, peaceful, and super accommodating home away from home. It is well appointed, well equiped, and well maintained to provide a stellar vacation experience. Booking was easy and efficient. Cathy and George are wonderful hosts providing useful information and tips about the surrounding area at your finger tips. Words cannot adequately express just how much we (and our little dog) enjoy our stay there. We highly recommend this as a top stay in Rockland, ME.

    Mary 2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in the comfortable Zadoc Brewster home. Cathy made us feel very welcome with a gift bag, and ample information to explore and experience our surroundings. The Rockland and Camden areas are beautiful with wonderful eateries and shopping opportunities.

  • A great location to explore the area for a couple of days. We enjoyed the wood stove each night in Cathy's comfortable and clean home. Thank you!

    Shannon2017-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • We, a family of 5, stayed for one night, but wished it had been more! Imagine a house in the countryside of England, delicately decorated, clean and proper. Beds for 4, but room for an extra mattress. The hostess perfectly fits in: Cathy is very friendly and helpful. And if you stay here: visit the chute small shops downtown and do the pier-walk to the lighthouse!

    Johan2016-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Rockland at Cathy's house. It is very close to downtown and easy to go to many places in the nearby area. The house is equipped with everything you need and there is lovely art hung in and about the house. I would recommend this as a place to explore Rockland.

    Lake2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy and George's house was perfect for our six-person group. It was spacious enough that we each had a bed (fold out couch, two twins, and a double) and shared two bathrooms. The house itself also had several spaces (living room, dining room, kitchen) so we were not always on top of each other. The house itself was beautiful and charming, and full of amazing English artwork, plates, teacups, and furniture. We liked being there so much that we decided to skip the "world famous" breakfast down the road and instead have breakfast in our own cozy kitchen! We also loved making a fire in the fireplace and just relaxing in the sunshine. Cathy is an excellent host and was extremely responsive and helpful in the days leading up to and day of our trip. She provided restaurant recommendations, transportation ideas, and a lovely welcome packet and note when we arrived. It is clear that she knows exactly what information and amenities any traveler might need in Midcoast Maine. The location of the house is also perfect - very close to a wonderful walk on the breakwater and downtown Rockland. And we are still in awe of how affordable this option was! Thank you, Cathy!

Large wharf with float; access to nearby islands, just south of Rockland & minutes from the Owls Head Airport and the Owls Head Transportation Museum. There are two moorings available & deep water at the float; even at low tide. Sail or kayak Mussel Ridge & Penobscot Bay! Cresent beach (public) is just an easy walk just down the road.
Beautiful views of the ocean (Mussel Ridge) with Emery island out front; 2 mooroings
    Quiet neighborhood
  • This place is awesome. The view is spectacular and the bed was super comfortable. The porch was a lovely place to hang out while we sipped coffee and looked out at the islands. It's next to a beautiful beach. Chris and Abbie were very friendly and accommodating. We had a thunder storm while were there and watched the ocean light up. It was amazing. Highly recommended for an authentic coastal Maine experience.

  • Gorgeous place!

    Laura2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were thrilled with the tranquility of Chris' place. Not only ocean views, but also ocean sounds were a soothing constant. The beds are super comfortable and the rooms spacious, yet cozy. Easy access to beaches and nearby Rockland made this the perfect vacation!

    Ingrid2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful setting with lovely beach and close to downtown Rockland. The living space is rustic with large windows, as described, for full view of ocean, so quiet and peaceful. Floors with old carpeting, a bit musty, has lots of spider webs and spiders if that is something you might find unappealing.

    Jean2017-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The location was fantastic. Secluded on the water with beautiful views.

    stephen2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • A truly special place. The ocean views are mesmerizing. Really comfortable, spacious house with views everywhere. Large deck and grill. Great yard to play games in with large picnic table. Great dock. Easy 5 min walk to Crescent Beach (calm rock/sand beach), also great for kids. 15 min at most drive to Rockland which has great restaurants, super market, lobster charter, ferry service to islands etc. A private oasis yet close enough to great attractions to explore.

Tiny Cabin- peaceful farm setting. 10x14 private cabin in the field behind our farmhouse. Chem-free boat toilet. Deck & fire ring overlooking a labyrinth & stunning sunset views of the hayfields that cradle the tidal St George River. 1 double & 2 twin beds. No stove, frig or running water. Like glamping.
A bit like "glamping". Distant river views. Good for one to three night stay. Electricity but no fridge (icebox provided, ice available next door). Outdoor grill for cooking. Toilet in cabin. Antique chamber bowl and pitcher for washing. Showers in house available for two night stay or more. Great for a silent spiritual retreat or folks who love the calming beauty of the outdoors. Best for early risers around 6:30 to the call of roosters crowing.
The cabin is located in farm among the lovely hayfields overlooking the St George River on our little saltwater farm. It is in our back field in view of our house but fairly private. Guest park in our driveway and walk next to the barn and in our back yard to get to it. There are farm animals (horse, rabbits, chickens) so be prepared to awaken to a rooster by 6:15 to start your day exploring and experiencing the beauty of Maine. There is a little store in walking distance and a nice ice cream outdoor place a couple of blocks south towards the Harjula Farm. This is hay country overlooking the saltwater, tidal St George river where the first British explorer in the area- George Waymouth set foot with his crew in 1605. They anchored their ship, The Archangel, at the mouth of the St George River near Allen Island and boarded the Light Horseman and rowed up the St George to what is now Thomaston/South Thomaston. Sunsets are really lovely and the labyrinth is nice to walk and gaze on. It's a nice "base camp" to use to explore the area. Experience kayakers can use our kayaks on sea or fresh water and we will leave a list of nice hikes and boat tours in the area. Plenty of art in Rockland and a great restaurants all around. Takes 9 minutes to get to Rockland, and 15 minutes to get to Camden. The "Forrest Gump" lighthouse and boat to Monhegan is 15 minutes down our road. Tiny Cabin is great for nature lovers.
  • We felt very welcome, with torches lit along the path and the fireplace going. There are lots of little amenities we kept finding (tea, a thermos of hot water, bottles of OJ), and the bedding was especially cozy. Good job making a 10X14 space work so well. Helpful that a deli-quality mom and pop store is right next door.

    Kit2015-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was a beautiful experience! The tiny cabin was exactly what we expected from Jane's description & SO much more. Not only was the exterior so well thought out, no detail was undone, the interior was even more thoroughly complete, every question we had was already answered with Janes's notes & attention to detail. The cabin was very clean, super cozY, comfy bed plus an electric space heater/fireplace was provided although the real winners were the flannel sheets & heated blanket.  Not to mention the fire pit out on the deck, that was already kindled & ready to light that overlooked her adorable labyrinth, & the incredible sunset just past the garden. Like Jane had described, there is no running water but she provided a great wash basin with warm water & well water as well as a dry toilet was an upgrade from an outhouse! The property is very tranquil & perfect for anyone needing to get away to relax with nature without completely roughing it.

    D.J.2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jane was a very attentive and friendly host. The cabin is cute and rustic with a great view. It did get cold inside so be ready for that. Lots of attention to detail.

    Ann & Andy2015-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • "Tiny cabin" was absolutely beautiful and perfect for our stay in Maine! We wanted to see the Penobscot Bay Area, and this was close to Camden, Rockland, and the Vinalhaven Ferry. The cabin is cozy and quaint with beautiful views, and Jane is a wonderful host. Highly recommend for a "glamping" experience!

    Mark2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was lovely and cozy, with helpful notes left to direct us where needed. We especially enjoyed having coffee on the porch overlooking the sunny fields the next morning! Only sorry we couldn't stay longer...

    Sophie2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful space in a beautiful space. The hosts have created a peaceful space where every detail has been considered. There is no question I would visit again, and this time plan to stay and enjoy the spot!

    Tom2016-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had a lovely one-night stay - the only negative is that we didn't stay longer! We were welcomed by lit tiki torches and a jack o'lantern leading down to the cabin. We were delighted by all the little touches throughout the cabin and notes that anticipated all of our questions. A fire had already been laid in the pit, and we enjoyed a lovely cloudy evening sitting by the fire. I loved the washbasin, lanterns, and overall cozy, cozy feeling. We appreciated the thermos of hot water for tea, and the reading lights were perfect for curling up on the couch with our books. Jane provided us with walking trail and restaurant recommendations. Overall, a great place to stay!

    Rebecca2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We needed a place to stay overnight close to the camp our kid was. So happy we found Jane's tiny house, the host is great, trying to provide everything you need! Area is beautiful, sitting by the fire at night was the best!

Outstanding waterfront house- screen porch, granite fireplace, gourmet kitchen.
Homeport is aptly named — this stunning house is truly a home away from home. Situated on the shores of the Weskeag, a beautiful salt waterway, Homeport is nestled in woods offering peace and quiet and privacy. The house is situated on over 2 acres with 350 feet of water front — watch wildlife from the screen porch (a surprising rarity in Maine), launch kayaks in the front yard or walk to town for lunch. Homeport is ideally located — minutes to Owls Head and Rockland and just several miles away from the must-see villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. Rockport and Camden are 20 minutes by car. You are within 5 minutes of the area`s most coveted beaches — Crockett`s Beach, Crescent Beach, Lucia Beach and Waterman`s Beach. Bike ride, walk, explore and then come home and settle in for the night by the floor-to-ceiling granite fireplace in the living room. The first floor of Homeport is open-concept with high ceilings and an eye toward beautiful functionality. The main entrance opens onto a classic Maine mudroom — this is perfect for leaving sandy shoes and towels after a day on the beach. The gourmet kitchen is truly stunning with high end appliances and granite countertops. The large center island is the place to gather in the morning for breakfast or in the evening while meals are being prepared.   Off the kitchen is a den with a double pull-out couch with foam topper to ensure comfort; available to accommodate more guests if needed. This room is adjacent to a full bathroom and also large enough to accommodate an air mattress, a Pack ‘n  Play, etc. The kitchen opens onto the dining area which is situated in a windowed alcove with views of the water. The table can easily seat 8+ people. The crown jewel of the house is the three-season porch — this amazingly beautiful room overlooks the waterfront and truly brings the forest and the water inside. Floor-to-ceiling screens (windows in the colder months) make this room ideal at any time of the day. Enjoy coffee in the morning or dinner in the evening as the sun sets — no need to worry about mosquitoes! There is a dining table on the porch as well as an ample lounge area. The screen porch overlooks a slate patio as well — find the gas grill and outdoor furniture here. Inside the screen porch there is a small area with a table and 2 chairs — perfect for putting together puzzles, playing board games or sorting through the treasures found on the beach. The living room is open and large, centered around a massive granite fireplace. There is a sectional couch and other seating. The living room offers a large, flat-screen television and satellite reception. There is a also a high-quality sound system. The house is equipped with HughesNet, satellite-based WiFi. Upstairs, find three bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The master suite is large with a queen bed, a study alcove and a private bathroom. The bathroom has claw foot tub and a shower. The other two upstairs bedrooms share a full bathroom in the hall — the second master has a queen bed and overlooks the water. The third upstairs bedroom is also quite large and has a twin bed and a double bed. There is plenty of room for an air mattress if it is needed. Homeport offers a laundry room with a washer and dryer. It`s the kind of house you are thrilled with the minute you walk in and the kind of house that makes you feel at home. During SUMMER rentals are scheduled Saturday to Saturday only. Shorter stays in the shoulder seasons may be available with a 3 night minimum Dogs may be CONSIDERED with pet fee and acceptance of pet policy. We will need to know size, breed and age of the dog.
Waterfront location. Located off a short dirt driveway; very private yet accessible to town.
  • Awesome place and awesome area. Had a big crew at the house and cooked thanksgiving dinner (Canadian). The fireplace was a total hit. The house was a perfectly set up and nicely secluded in the forest and on the water. Also enjoyed the fire pit and did a lobster boil on the outdoor burner. The veranda was the perfect place to sit and enjoy morning coffee. We'll return here for sure. Host was super responsive and easy to deal with. Thank you!

    Chris2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for a week here. Lovely home with plenty of space. Kitchen had everything we needed. The beds were super comfy. A few glitches at the beginning of the week were taken care of as promptly as possible. The fireplace was delightful. It is wonderfully secluded without any neighbors in view. There was a large snowstorm while we stayed and the driveway was cleared in a timely manner. Jen, from SummerMaine was outstanding in communication and service. She went out of her way to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. One note to boaters .. due to the tides the home is not accessible by water at all times. If you plan to kayak, always know the tide table before heading out or you wont be able to make it back.

  • We booked this place for New Year weekend and had great time with family and friends. Great house, great location, full of all amenities. Very Peaceful and quite place. Water front is just serene to watch all day long. The only issue we faced was that internet didn't work but it was very well communicated before so arranged own hotspot which worked very well and didn't face any issue. Overall had great experience staying and will consider this place again for future vacations.

Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, a tastefully refurbished 1930’s cottage-style home bordering Rockland’s Historic District and just far enough away from the hustle and bustle. An easy walk to many fine restaurants, museums, theater, art galleries, shops, the harbor and the ferry terminal. We are licensed by the City of Rockland. #STR17-25
Come stay with us and enjoy one or both of our comfortable guest rooms. Each room has a sitting area and is large enough for an extended stay. Our two guest rooms can accommodate a total of 5 persons. Guests may choose between The South Room with a double bed or The North Room with a double and a single bed. Both rooms are on the second floor (easily accessed by a wide staircase) and have use of a private guest bathroom with tub and shower. You are welcome to enjoy our cheerful breakfast nook overlooking the backyard and gardens with access to our living room, front porch, back deck, garden area, and limited kitchen facilities. We have plenty of shelves filled with interesting books, if you have time to read. We offer coffee and pastry in the morning upon request. We are not a childproof home, so not suitable for very young children. Our two indoor cats are friendly; Ollie, is a Siamese kitten and Rocky, an Abyssinian, can be quite entertaining. We hope our guests enjoy their stay here and are respectful of our home.
  • This is a great spot. The hosts are friendly and respectful. I felt welcomed and that everything I needed was there. They also gave me great recommendations and had coffee waiting in the morning. The rooms are beautiful, the bed is comfy, and it is super clean. The pictures online don't do it justice. I would absolutely stay there again.

  • We only stayed one night but would have loved to spend more time in Rockland. The house is lovely, and the room spacious and comfortable. We felt right at home thanks to our hosts, even had an amazing breakfast with homemade blueberry pie. Restaurants and pubs are in walking distance, while the house is located on a quiet street for a good nights sleep.

  • This was a very brief stay, but it was obvious that out hosts are very warm people. Their home was immaculate and charming, morning coffee was delicious, and we even were treated to homemade muffins and blueberry bread. It's wonderful when people truly care about creating a welcoming environment. I would recommend to all.

Maine the way life is supposed to be, it's not just a slogan at River Chase. Enjoy the ever changing tides of the salt water w/ 260 ft of private river frontage. Watch as a Bald Eagle perches in a nearby tree or as boaters navigate to the Atlantic Ocean. We are minutes away from the Rockland Harbor which hosts the Blues Festival & Lobster Festival, great shopping, museums and many restaurants. River Chase has 1600 sq ft of completely renovated house to give you a clean and modern yet comfy feel.
River Chase Cottage is a quiet relaxing environment completely surrounded by nature. If you lucky in the morning you can see the neighborhood Bald Eagle perched on the tree limb by the shore or watch as the wild turkeys make their way for breakfast. See the boats as they head up and down river to start the day as the sun rises over the waterfront. Grab your coffee and sit down on the granite bench by the water or walk to the shoreline and sit on the ledge hidden away from life's worries and noise. River Chase has a completely renovated interior with all modern conveniences and yet still has the old cottage feel. You will simply enjoy every minute of peace at River Chase. However when your mind and body wants to get moving you are just minutes away from shops, museums, sail boat rides and restaurants,. Oh did we mention Maine Lobster? Rockland is the Lobster Capital of the World. We hope to see you and your guest at our little get away.
Our neighborhood is a waterfront road with single homes. A very quiet area although you may hear the horses every once in a while that live next door at our neighbors. The road is a dead end so traffic in minimal. A great place to get away from the stresses of every day life.
  • Great and very accommodating hosts! Would definitely come back again!

  • WOW, what a treat this was. John & Patrice have a beautiful property, and River Chase Cottage is so well done. We had a girl's weekend over three nights, and the cottage fit our needs perfectly. We had a fantastic time relaxing, cooking, and taking in the view. To be so close to the water was a gift; I loved drinking my morning coffee next to it. Rockland was an easy 10 minute drive away, where there was plenty of window shopping. Even on a rainy day, we reveled in the cottage. Thank you for the much needed weekend respite. Next time I'm in Maine, I won't hesitate to stay at River Chase. Thanks, again.

    Karen2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The River Chase Cottage was definitely better than what we expected. The Cottage and its interior is beautiful and very comfortable. Unfortunately we didn't have time to enjoy the bonfire anymore, however, we enjoyed dipping into the water, reading a book in the sun and eating delicious lobsters in Tenants Harbor. Moreover, John and Patrice are utterly friendly, helpful and they were able to give good advice on what to do in the neighbourhood. Once again, thank you!

    Anna2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely little cottage which is lovingly kept. Had a perfect few days relaxing and enjoying the view and peaceful location. John was responsive and helpful and everything went as smoothly as possible. Thanks again!

    Helen2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very nice, updated and well appointed cottage with a great view. The claw foot tub upstairs was especially nice. John and Patrice were on top of everything. We'll recommend to our friends and family and would definitely stay here again.

  • River Chase was perfect! It was so centrally located between Boston and Bar Harbor and allowed us to do really great day trips. Recommend quick trip to Owls Head State Park and Lighthouse. Really close and so beautiful. Day trip to Bar Harbor was really easy...left by 9AM and home by 9PM and saw all we wanted to including a Whale Watching tour. We ventured a little north on one day seeing Belfast, Camden and Rockport. South the next day to Kennebunkport. All so easy. We were so happy to come home each evening to the lovely setting on the tidal river. It was so quiet and calming. Each morning with coffee (provided!) on the porch looking down at the water was such a great way to start our day. Everything is as described. The home is so clean and fresh and the hosts have thought of everything! Great layout for a two couples, a family (great separate living space for teenagers) or, in our case, four life long friends. Recommend grocery shopping on the way in; the closest full service grocery is 15-20 minutes away. Come and enjoy!

Morning coffee and danish will be provided upon request. There is a powder room and a cozy sitting room on the first floor.
Family friendly. Library is a two block walk, as is the world class Farnsworth Museum with the Wyeth Wing . All Main St. restaurants and shopping are a short walk. And the waterfront area parks are always interesting and are the site for the North Atlantic Blues Festival (www.northatlanticbluesfestival.com) in July and the Lobster Festival (www.Mainelobsterfestival.com) and the Home and Boat Show in August.
  • Ken is very hospitable and kind. The house and the room are beautifully decorated. Walking distance from bars, shops and restaurants. Comfortable room and bed, warm welcome by kind hosts, what else could you want? We highly recommend Ken's place!

  • What I wanted as a weary traveler was somewhere to relax and recuperate in peace. What I found with Ken and John was so much more – a wonderful old house tastefully decorated and artistically furnished, with the prospect of a delightful ‘English’ garden, a veranda and a sitting room for my leisure, comfortable beds and an elegant bathroom, a delicious breakfast and welcoming and fascinating hosts. This was my first Airbnb, booked by my friend Lauran who swears by them; now I know why. Jane, UK and Lauran USA

  • Although we only stayed one night, this was one of my favorite Airbnb stays. Ken and John's home was lovely, and we enjoyed our stay in their Queen room. Ken was responsive, warm and hospitable. We loved breakfast in their study before we headed back on the road. Would love to stay again soon. Thank you both!

  • Ken and John have a lovely house in a convenient location inRockland. The place was very clean, lots of space to ourselves, and has a great front porch. Communication was easy and they were welcoming hosts. A wonderful place!

  • Ken was a wonderful and informative host. Their home is better than described. Clean as could be and very well appointed. The bath was large as was the bedroom. The garden and wrap-around porch are very nice. The home is just 2 blocks to the art museum and 1 more block to the beautiful town with its shops and galleries. So looking forward to a return visit.

Enjoy your stay in our guest room. The room is located on the second floor accessed by a separate staircase adding to the sense of privacy. Please note, the stairs are the original old New England steep backstairs. Those with super heavy or large suitcases or mobility issues--be aware. The room has a comfortable double bed, shelf full of books along with a number of travel and hiking guides. Museum, restaurant and sailing brochures can be found in your room as well as other attractions. The kitchen and shared bathroom are located on the first floor beneath the bedroom. You are welcome to use our kitchen while you are here. We simply ask that you clean up following each meal. Use of the washer and dryer is possible, but please ask first. We will provide coffee, juice, and breakfast (homemade waffles, granola and yogurt, fruit, toast, eggs, etc.) Breakfast will vary based on availability and preferences. We are located right in town--two blocks from the ferry and bus terminal and downtown's fabulous restaurants and vibrant arts community. Our home is close to everything, but located on a dead end street which offers us plenty of quiet in the city center. We offer off-street parking. The property is situated on nearly 1/2 acre lot boasting beautiful gardens, including the addition of a large cutting garden in spring of 2016. Relax with a book in one of our adirondack chairs or walk to town and immerse yourself in all that Rockland has to offer. Some places of interest: Farnsworth Museum--6 blocks Ferry Terminal--2 blocks Rheal Day Spa--4 blocks Rock City Cafe--9 blocks Atlantic Baking Company--8 blocks Windjammer Wharf--5 blocks (home to Schooners: J&E Riggin, Stephen Taber, and Nathaniel Bowditch) Harbor Park and Boardwalk--10 blocks (location of Blues Festival, Lobster Festival and Maine' Boats, Homes and Harbors Event) Children's Museum and Sail, Power and Steam Museum--approx. 1 mile (very walkable--flat route) Owl's Head Transportation Museum-- 3.8 miles Breakwater and Lighthouse--2 miles Primo's Restaurant--approximately 1 mile--James Beard Award winning chef and Farm to Table restaurant, a bit pricey but worth it! Our home is shared with our young daughter--who is quite used to guests from around the world--and our three very shy cats. We look forward to hosting you and will make every effort to share the best mid-coast Maine has to offer!
Our neighborhood is quiet but on the edge of downtown. We live on a dead end street which keeps traffic and noise at a minimum. It is an eclectic bunch of neighbors--retirees, professionals, a lobsterman and a few "jack of all trades." Some of us are "from away" and others are native to Maine.
  • Rebecca, Joe and their daughter Gabriela are lovely people. The house was super clean, and the bed was very comfortable. It's quiet so you will sleep quite comfortably. The house is located about a 5 minute walk to the top of Main Street in Rockland, where all the restaurants, shops, galleries and museums you will want to see on your visit are located. Joe was kind enough to drive me to the local airport the next morning! An extra special touch that I great appreciated.

    Valerie2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca and Joe made me feel very welcome and the bed was really comfortable. The pumpkin bread that Rebecca made for breakfast was as good as it smelled. Thanks for a lovely visit.

  • They have great advice on what to see for whatever interests you have.

    Patrick2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough good things about my first Air B&B experience! From the moment we arrived, we felt like family. The house was open and ready for us when we arrived, even ahead of schedule. The room was beautiful and very comfortable for my daughter and me. My daughter enjoyed playing with Joe and Rebecca's daughter, in fact, they were fast friends. Breakfast was delicious and in perfect time for us to catch our ferry. My daughter even got a personal ride in a wagon to catch the ferry. Rebecca, Joe and Gabriella (and the less visible cats) were gracious hosts that I hope to see again!

    Laurie2014-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my all to brief stay with Rebecca and Joe who were very welcoming and made it feel home from home. Their historic house was very comfortable and I much enjoyed my conversations with them.

    Ian2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it all. The friendly and interesting hosts. The room in a typical Maine home. Enough room for a travel bed and a mini-tent for our little girls. Ideal location in town. Home-backed Zucchini bread for breakfast. Lovely Gabriella. The sunny porch. The rock-hopping in the garden. The swing. Rockland. Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable. We look forward to meeting you in Cambridge or in Rockland again :)

  • Our hosts were extremely kind and helpful. Rebecca made a delicious breakfast and great coffee. Both Rebecca and Joe engaged with us in fascinating conversations. They have a lovely family and provide such an interesting opportunity for their daughter to learn about people from around the world. We were so appreciative of Rebecca showing us her garden and allowing us to share their calm environment.

You'll have the entire house and driveway to yourself during your stay. Owners are near and available if needed.

The beds and mattresses are new as of June 2017, as well as the pillows and the bath and kitchen towels. The mattresses & pillows are protected with guaranteed Serta covers. The floors and furniture and bathroom are vacuumed and cleaned after every visit and a germicidal bleach & water solution is used while scrubbing the toilet & shower. Germicidal bleach is used while washing the sheets & towels, as well. We consistently strive for a clean, comfortable, 99% germ-free home.
Towne Cottage is just a few minutes' walk to Downtown Rockland! Enjoy all of Rockland's shows, festivals, restaurants & pubs without having to drive or find a place to park.
  • Very accommodating host, clean, short walk to Main street.

  • Great place to stay in midcoast Maine! House was clean and tidy and perfect for our little getaway to Maine. Great if you have a pet too. Jon and Becky are great hosts.

    Natasha2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jon and Becky were very flexible with our ever-changing arrival time, making checking in simple and convenient. The house is on a quiet street off of Main Street in Rockland and a 5 minute walk to the city center as well as to Sandy Beach. The house has all the amenities of home including a washer and dryer, as well as a wonderful pulley clothesline outside; ample towels, pillows, blankets, kitchen and washing supplies were greatly appreciated. Jon and Becky were even kind enough to leave coffee and tea supplies to begin our Rockland adventure! The AC upstairs, in addition to numerous house fans, kept the entire house cool and comfortable for sleeping. As accurately described in the house description, there are 3 bedrooms upstairs, with only 1 situated as a closed off room. This was perfect for our group as the kids could share the combined bedrooms. Rockland is a beautiful and quiet mid-coastal Maine town with a less "touristy" feel. We loved the town and our accommodations at Jon and Becky's house to enjoy: Rockland Harbor Trail, Rockland breakwater, dinner at Claws, Sandy Beach, Owl's Head Lighthouse, Mt. Beattie and Mt. Megunticook hike in Camden State Park.

    Stacey2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • A+++ to excellent hosts and a great location! Jon & Becky set us up on short notice and made our visit to Rockland a delightful and comfortable trip. Enjoy the deck and proximity to Main St.

  • We had a very lovely stay, house was extremely clean and welcoming. Great location, very close and walking distance to downtown area. Had everything you needed!

    Catherine2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jon and Becky have created a beautiful Air B and B. The kitchen had a great assortment of pots, pans, glasses, plates and flatware. There is a nice assortment of tea and even a pound of dark roast coffee from the local Rock City Roasters--which we loved and finished off before leaving! The beds are comfy--the AC in the bedroom keeps the upstairs nice and cool. The house is also incredibly clean! As others have mentioned the house is a short walk from m downtown so many wonderful restaurants, shops and galleries are just a short walk away. We had a wonderful visit!

    Sarah2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our group was three adults and two kids, accommodated easily in the three upstairs bedrooms (two of which have only an arch between them, which is fine for families or groups of friends but may not suit people who want more privacy). We were glad to find AC upstairs because it was unusually warm when we were there. Wifi worked well, the kitchen had everything we needed, and Jon and Becky were very friendly. About a half-mile to the Farnsworth, with lots of shops and restaurants also nearby.

    Tory2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Place was perfect for us and another couple, great location and walkable to pretty much everything. The owners gave great suggestions on where to go, they checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Definitely planning on going back.
