Sooke Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Sooke

This cozy little backyard cottage that accommodates 3, with a queen bed and single bed sized sofa, is located near the heart of Sooke, BC. Only a 15 minute walk to all the artisans, shops and services located "up Sooke". A stone's throw to walks through the park. A quick drive to many beaches, Whiffen Spit, public pool and ice rink. Enjoy a hike or bike down the Galloping Goose Trial or take a dip at the Sooke Potholes. Prepare meals in its fully equipped kitchen or check out local restaurants.
We are a family of 4. We have two children ages 5 and 8, so please expect a family environment as the accommodation has a shared yard.
Very quiet neighborhood in a friendly area.
  • It was a comfortable place to stay. The bed especially was comfortable (nice and firm). We enjoyed having a cabin separated from the house and it was very quiet and peaceful.

  • This suite has a great value for everything. Cleanliness is 5 star from me for this suite. It has basically everything that you need for the kitchen and bathroom, even including a coffee maker. Kirk and Shelley are very friendly as well and make us feel welcome. Overall, a must to stay here if you are stopping by Sooke to go to the West Coast.

    Tan2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Happy repeat visit to this private suite.

  • Had a good time in Sooke. Kirk told us about a great place to visit on the way down from Victoria. Shelly and Kirk were welcoming and accommodated our lack of experience in the Airbnb booking process! Kirk sorted the internet for us and the Sweet Little Suite was cosy as described, and great value for money. We cooked both nights; the kitchen fulfilled all our needs.

    Jennifer2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Kirk's place has everything you need! The fully equipped kitchen was a bonus! Kirk and his family were very friendly and helpful. You are close to the beaches and other outdoor activities! The zipline is almost Sooke 's secret. It was awesome! Check out Whiffin Spit and the Potholes. You won't be disappointed!

  • Spotless private suite. Nice furniture, comfortable bed. Kitchen and bath are clean and had everything we needed. Lots of nice touches. The location is very convenient and the parking arrangements were perfect. Friendly welcome, and a nice note to help us with the wireless, the tv etc, and a few recommendations to help us find our way around Sooke.

    Gary2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We booked our Airbnb at Kirk's place but wrote down the incorrect address. After we went to the wrong house we booked a room at the local hotel. Then we realized our mistake; went to their home and told them we were not going to be staying with them through our error. Even though it was totally our mistake, Kirk refunded our money. A very Canadian and honorable thing to do, and we appreciate it very much. You can't go wrong with this family.

    al2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kirk, has a really nice family. We were well welcomed, by night and by all the family. :D We found a room really clean and spacious. The place was very convenient for groceries, and had a nice kitchen for cooking too. We enjoyed to read the little note they left for us !!! For sure we recommend Kirk place if you want to visit Sooke, you won't be disappointed! Good luck Kirk with your new Airbnb adventure !

  • We were very well accomodated at Don and Charlotte's place. With a fridge and cupboard full of food, tourist information about Sooke and a friendly welcome, we really felt at home. We enjoyed having a private suite as our base while we explored Sooke and Port Renfrew.

  • I had a lovely day that I will never forget. The hosts were so kind to us, and everything was so perfect. Clean house, Food, Awesome location, and cuteeeee dog. I strongly recommend this place!!

  • Great neighbor on a quiet street. This was our first time staying in an AirBnB, we have traditionally stayed in BnB's and this certainly gives you more flexibility in your schedule. Don & Charlotte make good hosts and keep a very nice property, close to the core of Sooke. Ron

    Ron2016-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here. Don and Charlotte are great hosts. The suite is clean with a incredibly well stocked kitchen that made cooking meals easy. We will defiantly book in again when we are in town.

    Anna2017-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Don and Charlotte were very friendly and easy to work with. Their place is clean, comfortable, spacious, well furnished with even treats in the fridge.

    Paul2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to get away and be close to the Nature of Vancouver island and still be confortably set up, Don and Charlotte's suite is the best place for you! The suite is warm and cosy, and Don and Charlotte did everything for us to feel like we were at home. They are super nice and welcoming and we were super lucky to meet them. They showed us some good places to hike on the trails and they helped us to get there. So thank you a lot Don and Charlotte ! We were blessed to meet you ! Audrey and Charlotte

  • This very large suite is bright and cheery with a quite spacious well equipped kitchen; living room with sofa bed, large screen TV and a well stocked puzzles cupboard; full bathroom; and master bedroom with a comfortable bed and large closet. Attractive private garden and patio table and chairs. The frig and cupboards are well stocked with several food items. Our host was very helpful with our accommodation planning and quick to respond to our questions. The suite was within easy walking of the Sooke Village and right by the walking path for the Ponds Park Corridor. Highly Recommended!

  • Stop right at this listing and book it. If we could give this listing 10 points we would. Don and Charlotte have an amazing suite, and it was seriously the best AirBnB place we have ever stayed in for over the top in what was included (and we have stayed in a LOT of AirBnb's all over the world) The suite is spacious, bright, clean, with a comfy bed. The kitchen was stocked with so much food that was ours to enjoy. Saved us a trip to the grocery store which helped us immensely as we were on a tight schedule and only stayed one night. We will be back again for sure. Thanks Don and Charlotte for being such fantastic hosts. You thought of everything and then some to make our stay comfortable :-)

    Bedrooms

    Sooke, BC, Canada

Our 2 bedroom fully equipped beach house has it all for the perfect vacation: 1.5 acres of land, 50 metres of beach looking over the Juan de Fuca Straits; the feeling of wilderness yet just 10 minutes to shops and restaurants in Sooke.
Poirier Cove is just right for a family vacation, a romantic getaway or fun with friends. The private beach is perfect for picnicking, watching wildlife visitors in the bay, swimming out to the bird rock, or setting off for a paddle. You can scramble up the rock to watch the sunset - or the sunrise. There are two expansive lawns for badminton, croquet or soccer. There's a firepit for roasting hot dogs or marshmallows - or keeping warm when the sun sets. And then there's the view, which always seems to be changing. Away in the distance, over the Juan de Fuca straits, you can see the snow-capped mountains of Olympic national park. You can spend a day quite happily with a pair of binoculars watching birds squabble over their place on the rock in the middle of the bay, spotting bald eagles and ospreys, or waiting for the seal family to visit - perhaps even a passing whale. Or you can set off to explore the wild west coast of Vancouver Island. Inside the kitchen, sitting room and dining room all look out over the ocean. The kitchen has everything you need if you choose to eat in. The dining table seats 6, and the comfortable living room has a fireplace. You'll find a woodpile next to the garage. We've left plenty of board games and books for evenings around the fire, but there's also wifi and TV if you prefer. The master bedroom has a queen bed, the other has twin beds, and there's hideaway bed to put anywhere you want. Poirier Cove is a short drive from Sooke's shops and restaurants; miles of sandy beaches; west coast rain forest - or 45 minutes to downtown Victoria. The ideal place for a vacation!
The location of Poirier Cove is incredible - the view spectacular. But Sooke, just 10 minutes down the road has everything you need, including one of Canada's finest restaurants. 15 minutes up the road the other way you'll find miles of sandy beaches at French Beach or China Beach - and the start of the Juan de Fuca trail. If you like to bike, you can pick up the Galloping Goose trail just east of Sooke, and head off for an adventure up to the Sooke potholes. If it's a hot day you'll welcome the swim. Fishing, kayaking, biking, hiking - all on your doorstep. Victoria is only 45 minutes away. The BC Royal Museum is great; the bug museum fun for the kids; and walking around the harbour watching the boats and street performers is a fun way to spend the day. Poirier Cove is well located on Vancouver Island to explore as much as you like - or stay home and hang out on the beach.
  • Corinne was a lovely host, giving us detailed directions well ahead of time and providing a binder full of all the information one would need to stay in the beachfront home. The view of the water was unmatched… you're only steps from the beach, we saw seals each morning, and the Olympics are visible across the water. The house was clean and cozy with access to internet and cable, and also a short drive from town and beautiful beaches like French Beach and China Beach.

    Nicole2015-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Poirier Cove home was incredible! The house was accurate to the pictures and description listing. Unfortunately we mostly had cloudy weather during our two-night stay, however the views and scenery were still picturesque and calming. My husband heard a sea lion come up for air one morning just off the rocky beach (his back was to the water). The house was very clean, and incredible spacious for our family of two adults and one young child. The amenities were more than ample. The kitchenware was lovely and made for nice dinner settings in the formal dining room with gorgeous water views. My daughter (almost 7 year-old) loved a stack of Archie's Comics in the basement, and all three of us enjoyed playing ping pong and air hockey in the basement. The fireplace worked fine without any issues, and despite being just off the highway, the location was very quiet and peaceful. The bright and comfortable living room with ample sofa seating really make us feel like we were truly on vacation! Corinne was very courteous and prompt in her communications, and called us on the first night to check in with us and let us know that she would be off-line due to travel the next day. I highly recommend checking out the Sooke Historical Museum in town, as we saw quite a few pictures of the Poirier family from generations ago! The museum has much more information and exhibits than one would think from the outside. Our only disappointment that was that were not able to book additional nights at the house to fully enjoy the amenities and beach. It was not an easy trip for us to make from Portland, Oregon however we would recommend this home in a heartbeat!

  • My girlfriend and I had a perfect 3 day stay at the Poirier Cove house. The house was spotless, the beds very comfortable, and the kitchen had all the utensils and amenities we could have asked for. The most amazing part was the view from the house with its wall of bay windows looking out onto the ocean. The property is spacious and full of greenery leading right up to the beach. Corinne was a gracious and very friendly host, providing clear details to get to the house and checking in by phone on our arrival to ensure we had everything we needed. It was a pleasure to interact with Corinne and stay at her lovely vacation home.

    Jay2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful New Years' getaway in Sooke. All as advertised - clean, well equipped and with the most spectacular view imaginable. Corrine and Raouf were proactive and attentive hosts.

    Sue2016-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying in Corinne's house on the beach in Otter Point.

    Henrik2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Poirier Cove beach house is simply fabulous, as the AirBnB photos (which are completely accurate) attest. It is extremely private, sitting on over an acre of land with an extensive beachfront. There are numerous places to sit and/or play, including a large deck with a barbecue, table, and chairs. The house is spotlessly clean and well-equipped. Floor to ceiling windows in the living room and adjoining dining room overlook the water. We had dinner in front of that view and then simply sat and watched it for the rest of the evening. It's different in all lights and weathers. Bring binoculars, if you have them, to watch the cruise ships and freighters that cross on the far side of the strait and the sail boats and small fishing boats that go by. Binoculars are also helpful for watching the bald eagles, black oystercatchers, and otters that frequent the area. (And the occasional seal!) The house is beautifully situated to take in the great provincial and regional parks in the area. We especially liked Sandcut Beach and we also had some great walks in East Sooke Regional Park. Botanical Beach in the Port Renfrew area is also worth a visit. The town of Sooke has everything you need with regard to groceries, etc. Corinne is an outstanding host, quick to reply to queries and extremely friendly. The very helpful "grey binder" which she has put together for guests includes all pertinent information about the house and the area. The house might not work well for anyone with mobility problems (the beach is stony, as is typical of the area, and the stairs into the single-story house are quite steep), but for most folks it is heavenly.

    Jo-Ann2015-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Poirier Cove... I only wish that we stayed longer! Though we never saw her, Corinne was a very mindful host who called to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable and the views were spectacular. The house was the perfect size for our group of three adults and two kids. Located right off the main road, the property was quiet and peaceful. We spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoor space, which included a deck, chairs set-up throughout the property, and, of course, the rocky beach full of driftwood. When the rain rolled in, we retreated inside to enjoy a warm fire and watch ocean from the comfy leather sofas. If you get tired of the view and enjoying the outside space (which we did not) there are books, games, and cable TV to occupy the time. While our cell service was not great at this location, the wifi at the house worked great. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make our meals. The kitchen and appliances are in good condition and everything was very clean. It's nice to go into a kitchen and not feel like you have to clean it all before you use it! The next time we are back on Vancouver Island I would love to stay here again. With Victoria 45 minutes away, miles of trails and coastline to explore, and all the comforts of home (not to mention the amazing view), Poirier Cove is a great destination.

  • corinne's place was a lovely getaway for the weekend. it's an awesome property with a private beach to hang out. we didn't leave the property at all - the wildlife was around us all the time - we even saw a pod of orcas passing by while we had lunch... we enjoyed the open fire place every night and the house was perfect for snuggling in the couches, read a book and be distracted by the ocean all the time ;) it's a very clean place and the communication with corinne was outstanding! thanks a lot :)

  • Sarah's little Sea Haven was a beautiful cozy, relaxing getaway from the city. With incredibly quick and easy trail access to EAst Sooke park..we were hiking around in all our spare time. The suite was incredibly clean and peaceful. We would stay there again anytime.

    Rach2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Sea Haven was exactly what we were looking for. It's a small cabin with a comfy bed and a view of the water. There's some simple amenities like tea, coffee and a bar fridge. And probably most importantly the wifi password was easily accessible. We had a quick but nice stay and would recommend this for anyone looking to stay in East Sooke.

  • Sarah and Bruce were super kind and helpful.. I had a really lovely time and will be back. Thanks so much!

  • My husband and I stayed in Sarah's studio cottage for one night celebrating our anniversary. It was the perfect spot for rest after our East Sooke Park Adventures. We enjoyed wine delighted by the ocean view. We never actually met Sarah- however the communication was great and the check in was stress free and super easy as a traveller.

  • One of our favorite air bnbs we have stayed in. Great place to base yourself to do the beautiful coast trail. We cooked both nights, happy to stay in the cozy suite. Fantastic kitchen, well appointed. Highly recommend.

  • We wanted a mini getaway from the city, and this place was perfect. It had all the amenities you could want plus more! The wood stove was great and set the place up for a relaxing weekend. All you need to bring is yourself and food as anything else you could want is there.

  • I needed a little getaway from school and though a weekend getaway would be perfect. The scenery was just what I needed. Verona was quickly to reply to all of my messages and very informative when it came to my questions. She told me of her favorite place to hike, and where to find them. The house itself is exactly what the pictures show, but probably even better. I walked into the loft, and was so happy that I had chose this place. It had all the things I needed, and more. It was actually better than my own house :P Everything was high end, and were in great condition. The reviews really speak for themselves, it is an amazing stay with a great hostess. Thank you Verona, I will for sure be back :)

    Kayla2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place has everything you could need! Love being able to do laundry, being close to hiking trails, and use of a stereo system to listen to music from your phone/internet in the BnB. It is such a pleasure space, with everything you could need for cooking, etc. Only downfall is no curtains/blinds for the big front windows. While the suite faces a fairly private direction, it would be more comfortable with blinds.

    Kristen2017-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place in secluded East Sooke. Kitchen, bathroom, and living room are nicely done. Two thumbs up!

    Charles 2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quiet space, beautiful space. We explored a lot of the area, including local restaurants in nearby Sooke which is a bit of a drive (20 mins) so didn't make the best use of the amazing kitchen and living areas but still recommend it. It was very clean and stocked with the necessities. The wood stove was a nice touch at the end of the day and the shower is one I'll miss. Check-in and out was pretty much nil. Good value overall!

    Will2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great, I would stay again. It was really clean, everything worked well and the shower was amazing!!

    Brandon2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Verona was super sweet and accommodating. The place was modern and mostly quiet. My only concern is that there are no curtains and that can sometimes make the place super bright and lacking privacy. This was super minor though.

Zip Line through the Sooke Hills for a better view of the rainforest. If you want to see more, scenic flights are available via Pacific Sky, or sea to sky tours through Harbour Air. From our terrace you can enjoy the company of quails, deer, humming birds, bald eagles, turkey vultures, owls and sometimes bears on the ridge. We have spotted them all from the terrace! You may even see the occasional, otter, cougar, or elk walking around the town… they are abundant here where the rainforest meets the sea!
There are hiking trails on Broomhill (the mountain we are on) and if you download View Ranger app you can see them on a map! Although your cell signal may not work, you should be able to see your location on this app throughout your hikes and easily find your way back to us. The hike up to the summit is worth the breath taking view.
  • Host was great on response, views were stellar. Check in easy. Momma deer and her 2 fawns joined us for sunrise. Comfortable end to our camping adventure.

  • Great appartment brand new with very nice view. Wverything inside to make your stay simple and peacefull.

  • A relaxing and comfortable space! The place was clean and ready upon our arrival. It was airy, new, and offered a lovely view of the ocean. Thoughtful additions like Netflix, decor, various shampoos and toiletries, and the outdoor fireplace with Bluetooth speakers made us feel at home. Refrigerator/freezer was small though; heads up if you plan to bring groceries for cooking. Otherwise, everything else was great. The host was friendly, accommodating, and very responsive to messages. Would recommend! :)

  • Beautiful accommodations, enjoyed our time in Spoke.

    Crystal2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • It was a very tidy and spacious apartment with a fantastic view of the Juan de Fuca Strait. This was due to the high location of the apartment above Souke. There are lots of things to do and experience in the surroundings and we would have liked to spend more time there. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us to enjoy the marvellous terrace.

    Anne-Marie2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy about our stay at Pacific shore! Beautiful location! Very clean and welcoming! Truly, a home away from home. Thank you.

    Yulia2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Pacific Shore's place after cycling the Galloping Goose Trail (highly recommended) from Swartz Bay to Sooke. The place was great, clean and comfortable with beautiful views over the ocean. The patio area is amazing and a perfect place to relax after a long day on the bike. Highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking to stay in Sooke.

  • Dianna was a great host. She has a knack for details. She has thought of all the needs a guest can possibly have. Her room is beautifully decorated, packed with fruits, muffins, drinks, etc. She is ready to take care of your needs.

  • We had such a wonderful stay at spirit house! If you are looking for a comfortable & clean space to enjoy the surrounding beauty of Sooke, then this is the place for you! Dianna is a kind and thoughtful host, the room is equipped with everything one could need and the delicious snacks and beverages provided are amazing. Thank you Spirit House for a lovely weekend!

  • Dianna was the perfect host from the very first message interaction to our check-in to the amazing breakfast spread in our room! The room was perfect and exactly what we needed while we were in Sooke for a wedding. We would definitely return in a heartbeat :)

    Lesley2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely room in a private home. I had the whole top floor, with an immaculate bathroom, to myself. Dianna has thoughtfully provided all sorts of 'goodies' for the stay. She has dogs and cats, but is very good at keeping the guest floor pet-free.

    Elaine2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We were at Dianna's one night. She was a great host, room was clean and comfortable. We were lucky there were no other guests so bathroom was private.

    Linda2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Dianna's spirit house was very comfortable, neat, clean & quite. Dianna & Denton were very friendly. The fruit, pastries, coffee & toiletries that were available were very nice additions! Cute kitties & little dogs.

    Rachel2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • My staying was absolutely wonderful. Dianna was waiting with fruits, chocolates, coffee, the room is pretty and she has several musical instruments that you can try. 100% recommend.

  • It was so great to stay here in Sooke at dianna's place. It was clear that she has put a lot of thought into the room and the house. We had a lovely evening outside on the patio as well as a very nice hot tub dip before bed. We slept wonderfully on the softest sheets you will ever touch. Would definitely recommend.

We will stock your fridge with supplies for breakfast which includes fruit, yogurt, eggs, bread, butter, jam & peanut butter, milk and cereal, but want to hear from you on preferences so we can shop before you arrive.

We can suggest fishing charters if you love fishing, kayaking is available close by, golfing in Metchosin or Bear Mountain, the Galloping Goose trail provides miles and miles of biking and of course East Sooke park is only 10 minutes away with many amazing hiking trails and beaches. • Susie's apartment was amazing! It was secluded enough to be away from any hustle and bustle of town (and there wasn't much of that besides), but close enough to make running out for dinner or supplies a short trip. Susie and her husband were wonderful hosts, and the place was spotless. And there is a whale excursion within five minutes of the door. If I am ever in the Victoria area again, I will definitely try to return there. Thank you Susie for a great stay in Sooke!

    Jim2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great place - an incredible value! Very clean, updated, and with all the cooking items you might need! Beds were extremely comfy, plenty of towels and places to hang coats/clothes. We saw a lot of birds and even a tame buck right outside our windows. There's a private patio with a BBQ. Very close to grocery stores and Sooke restaurants. Location was great - halfway between dt Victoria and Point Renfrew, so could easily do a full city day and a full hiking/beach day. Susie is very welcoming and had plenty of local information to help plan day trips. Would 100% stay again!

    Amity2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Susie's place is light and airy. There are plenty of towels and pillows. The whole place is comfortable and feels like home. The location is perfect for exploring the coast all the way to Port Renfrew.

    Hilary2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Susie's suite is large and bright and is actually better than the photos depict. It is on the lower level of their house, but full height ceilings and a lovely walk-out to a patio area with bbq and swing. There is a full spacious kitchen and even a washer/dryer. Both bedrooms are of ample size. We had everything we needed. The location is about a 10 minute walk to the town centre, but you can also walk through the park. Check-in/check-out was also very easy and Susie and her daughter are very friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here and would stay again.

    Sally2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay! It was very centrally located, clean, spacious and had all the comforts of home. The host was helpful and easy to communicate with as well! It can be a bit noisy with footsteps at times but nothing that bothered us during our stay. Would definitely recommend staying here!

    Sharon2017-07-08T00:00:00Z

  • This lovely suite is a luxurious base for you to explore the natural beauty of the Sooke area. We really enjoyed relaxing in the two person jacuzzi tub and the big comfy bed. The suite and property are even nicer than in the photos and the hosts are very friendly and eager to provide you with any comfort they can. We appreciated the abundance of snacks and breakfast food in the well stocked kitchen and access to the BBQ was a plus although we didn't use it. We also enjoyed hanging out in the beautiful yard, playing backgammon in the shady gazebo after a day at the beach in East Sooke Park or hiking around Matheson Lake.

  • We had an amazing stay here- the gardens at the house are beautiful, the guest suite felt very private and there's a lovely view of the water. Our hosts helped us find nearby attractions- beautiful trails, tasty restaurants and scenic walks. Definitely need a car but lots of great hiked within 15-30 minute drive and restaurants closer. • My partner and I have stayed in Air BnBs all over the world and this one was by far our favourite! Gerry and Debbie were extremely accommodating when we had to take a late ferry from Tswwassen, and were there to welcome us when we arrived. The suite is extremely clean, and our hosts had even provided us with what looked to be handmade almond butter! It was incredible. The property is gorgeous and the yard area is just stunning. My partner and I would love to come back here. We thoroughly recommend it!

    Kate2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Gerry and Debbie have created a small slice of Paradise for travelers to the Sooke area. Their beautiful property was very much in keeping with the always stunning scenery of the Majestic Northwest and Vancouver Island. The creature comforts of the Aletheia Suite were extraordinary. A perfect little kitchenette, a luxurious bed, jacuzzi and fireplace...all add to the charm. The outdoor spaces and gardens are dream come true gorgeous, with lots of places to sit and revel in the great care that has been taken to create a haven for travelers. Their knowledgeable advice about things to see, do, and EAT filled our stay with happy travel moments. Just Wonderful.

    Eugenia2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had such An amazing stay. Gerry and Debbie's place is so relaxing, clean, and beautiful. They were so hospitable. They offered to get us salmon. Our kitchenette was even stocked with breakfast foods and snacks. We'd love to come Back here!

Welcome to Tideline, a two bedroom executive suite in our brand new oceanfront timber-frame home. Breathtaking views, ocean front hot tub meters from the beach, 9 foot ceilings, heated concrete floors, on 2 acres of waterfront with 250 meters of walkable beach. Close to fine dining, world class hiking, surfing, fishing, whale watching, mountain biking, sea kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and more.
My grandfather bought this property which we call Beaches West in the 1950's, when access to Sooke was only by a single lane dirt road. I am the third generation and my children are the fourth to enjoy it, and it is a pleasure to share it with guests from around the world. From your bedroom, you will wake up to spectacular sunrise over the ocean; you can fill your day kayaking or stand up paddle boarding from right outside your door, hiking, beach combing, fishing, or relaxing as you take in the glistening Strait of Juan de Fuca with the back drop of the snow peaked olympic mountains. Watch seals and sea otters play in the waves, or whales breech and eagles soar or dive for salmon from your front patio. Enjoy a soak in the 6 person ocean front hot tub. Fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing... and start all over again.
  • This was a beautiful place. Very tidy. Great location!!

  • This really is as good as the photos, if not better. Stunning location and views you will just want to stare at! Perfect for 4 in the 2 bedrooms. If over 4, the extra sofa bed is right next to the full height windows with no curtains so take eye patches as the rising sun will wake you up in the morning. A very well equipped property and we would love to return.

    Mark2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Chloe's place lived up to the photos and exceeded expectations. Accommodations were very comfortable and well appointed. Beds were comfy and we were lulled to sleep with the lapping water o. The beach a stones throw away. A beautiful setting.

    Jennifer2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing apartment and view! Hosts are wonderful and accomadating. Would recommend this place.

    Beverly2016-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a serene stay in the beautiful, south-east facing vacation rental that serves as the sea-level floor of Chloe and Danial's three-story home. You can hear the sounds of the family (two adults, a four-year-old and an 8-month-old) from the rental suite, but never any obtrusive sounds before 7am nor after 8pm, so the daytime footfalls and voices now and again did not bother us at all. By far, this suite is one of the cleanest, most comfortable and uncluttered rentals we've ever stayed at. (We typically rent 3-5 airbnb-type places each year and often find ourselves doing a bit of cleaning before we use the bathroom or the kitchen.) Chloe and Danial have used good quality materials and fixtures throughout the suite and have stocked it with essential, as well as 'extra', amenities, but have left the space open and free of unwanted and unnecessary stuff. Over our 9-night stay, we cooked every meal but one in the well-stocked kitchen. We ate all three meals every day at the picnic table on the front deck watching seals, gulls, herons, waves, mist/sun/sparkle on the Juan de Fuca Strait, etc. I practiced yoga every morning on the same polished concrete deck. My husband took his paddle board out into the ocean right from the smooth stoned beach in front each day. It was very peaceful to fall asleep to the lap of the waves and scent of sea air. The black-out blinds on the main windows of the bedrooms kept the early morning light as well as the bright moonlight out. We like firm beds and found neither bed as firm as we like, but the mattress in the corner bedroom was pretty firm under the layer of memory foam and we ended up sleeping there. The bathroom is spacious and has plenty of places to store toiletries and hang wet towels. The suite itself has four closets and a spacious laundry room for storing clothes, outdoor equipment, empty luggage, etc. Chloe was really on top of the emails we sent to her ahead of time and answered every question diligently...and I asked quite a few! She was also great about some special requests we made and she and Danial generally made us feel very at ease both before check in and during our stay. We would definitely recommend this seaside suite to anyone who seeks to enjoy a fabulous, oceanfront view with the comforts of a luxury apartment.

Your suite comes fully equipped with everything you need to make the memories that will last a lifetime. The suite is a cozy one bedroom suitable for a couple or small family (one bedroom with an available air mattress). For The Adventurer: - Minutes from to East Sooke Park and Roche Cove - Minutes from multi use horse, mountain bike and hiking trails For The Romantic: - Relax on your private 1,200 sq ft wrap around deck - Sip your coffee or wine in front of the propane fire pit on your deck - Curl up on the couch watching a move on one of the two flat screen tvs
East Sooke’s coast trail is considered one of the premier day hikes in Canada, a west coast wilderness experience within easy reach of the city. The 10 kilometer trail is rough and winding, a challenging 6 hour trip even for experienced hikers. One moment you travel across a bluff of windswept pines, the ocean crashing at you feet. Next you enter a dark rainforest at the end of a ravine. Turn a corner and you’re back in sunlight, at the edge of the sea.
  • Matthew and Crystal are great hosts! Very friendly and easy going. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Very lovely property with lots of room for our dogs to play.

    Hazim2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location. Knew what to expect from the area. Nice technology additions to make television viewing easy.

    Edward2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • A really nice place in a very quiet, forested location. The place was as advertised, and clean and spacious. A really comfortable bed, nice bathroom and shower. I'd describe it as perfectly simple accommodations. Matt welcomed us when we got there, and was really friendly, and then gave us our privacy after that. I'd suggest picking up supplies in Langford or Colwood before you head out to East Sooke, as there aren't really any grocery stores close by. There's a rooster close by, but not so close you can't sleep in!

    Charles2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Crystal & Matthew are wonderful and friendly hosts. Check-in and check-out is easy, and they're very accommodating to how much (or how little) interaction you would like to have with them. The property is quiet and great for folks who want to bring fido; we were excited to find a place where we could stay with our 120 lbs dog. Lots of hiking trails around the area and isolated enough to escape noisy city life, but not too far to lose access to technological "creature comforts".

    Ruby2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time checking out beautiful Sooke at Matthew & Crystal's place. The bed was very comfortable and our children enjoyed playing outside on the beautiful property. Crystal was very kind and accommodating. We had a wonderful stay.

    Jesse2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Matthew and Crystal's place was clean, spacious and in a great location close to many hikes and scenic spots. It was perfect for our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Recommend this place to anyone looking to stay outside the main town of Sooke.

    Jaspreet2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place is really beautifully located and Chrystal and Mathew were really nice and welcoming hosts. Chrystal even baked some really delicious muffins with apples from their own garden for us.

    Sandra2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Chrystal and Matthew are very nice, welcoming, uncomplicated hosts. There house is laid in lush, quiet and beautiful surroundings, with a great spacious patio where we spent some hours relaxing during our BC trip. We first had to get acquainted with the location of the house - it is somewhat outside of Sooke and felt a bit remote when we were first getting there. But after the first time we started to enjoy even the drive, over the rolling streets with a lot of deer on it! With our (not very silent) two kids we felt very welcome - and got out to Matheson Lake, to the Sooke Potholes, to Whiffin Spit in the sunset, and dined at Mom's Cafe - all in only one day. And were still relaxed :-) The trails through East Sooke Park are also close to the house, and very beautiful. So: Thank you, Chrystal and Matthew! We had a great stay at your house and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for some quiet in a beautiful setting, but with all the luxuries of modern life.

  • Rick was nothing short of a great host and the place was ideal. We were wanting a quiet place for a great price and we got exactly that. Check in was incredibly easy and the whole place was clean and had more than you would need for amenities. Even the small things were thought through, like a shaving mirror in the shower and a flashlight on the fridge (which helped at night getting to the hot tub). You could tell Rick takes pride in his place and takes care of the accomodation and the guests. We would definitely stay here again :)

    Shannon2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • A little easy to miss when trying to find it on the road, but the location is very central and convenient. Very clean and tastefully furnished. The beds were a tad soft for our tastes, but everyone has their own personal preferences, of course. Beautiful kitchen with everything you could want to prepare a gourmet meal. We had dinner on the balcony and used the BBQ both nights; once for ratatouille and once for steaks. Such a nice option for the summertime. We didn't use the on-site hot tubs. It was just too hot, but I'm sure in the winter that would be a real treat. Great stay in general.

  • Fantastic place to stay - even better than the photographs, with a lovely view and decks on 2 levels, looking towards Whiffin Spit. We did some day hikes in the area, this was a great base camp for visiting places from Port Renfrew to downtown Victoria. Kitchen facilities were more than sufficient for a week for 2 people.

    Lucy2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Rick's townhouse is ideally located, clean and comfortably furnished for our stay in Sooke. Rick responds quickly to communication messages. For the few meals that we cooked, the kitchen is well equipped . We were able to enjoy the many natural attractions and beach areas along the coast.

  • Amazing location, wonderful house, clean and Sooke is such an amazing town. I would highly recommend. Definitely go to the Potholes, French Beach, and Avatar Grove if you're going towards Port Renfrew.

  • Beautiful and spacious townhouse close to anything you need in Sooke. It had anything we would have needed. Being in a complex it's a little noisy, but totally reasonable. The view from the master deck is beautiful!

  • We loved our stay in Sooke and the location of Rick's place is perfect. You still need a car to get into town to groceries etc, but the location is really convenient for jumping off to explore the region whether by car or by boat. The condo is very well appointed, photos are accurate. Rick communicated with us effectively and the check-in process was so simple. We highly recommend Rick's place.

  • We had a lovely stay at Halina's bed and breakfast. The room was very clean and well supplied. The breakfast was lovely and the company too!

    Maggie2015-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying with Halina and Roman and were sorry to leave! Their B&B is in a lovely quiet natural environment and our room and e suite spacious. They are wonderful hosts and we really enjoyed long conversations with them sharing life stories and experiences. Highly recommended to anyone wanting a peaceful place to stay and engaging hosts.

    Sheila2013-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • If you want an experience you will long remember chose Roman's airbnb at Hide and Seek. From using his handmade soap in the shower, to enjoying teas made with his freshly picked herbs, from wandering in his garden to sitting by the pond, everything was perfect. Roman even accommodated our gluten free, dairy free, egg free diets with enthusiasm and made delicious breakfasts for us. Take a short walk to a local beach or a short drive to one of the larger beaches, or enjoy a 2 hour soap making class with Roman, or simply relax and unwind with his warmth and hospitality - a stay at Hide and Seek won't disappoint.

    Hazel2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Roman's bnb was comfortable and clean and well located for exploration of the Juan de Fuca trail, its beaches and coastline. Roman himself was very entertaining (he played us his guitar) and chatty and informative about the area. He made his own soaps which were available for guests. He had an extensive herb and vegetable garden which guests could wander. It was an isolated spot, the nearest shops and restaurants are in Sooke a few kilometres distant, but it had a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.

    pip2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Roman's place is a true gem. The garden, the deck, the room, the (URL HIDDEN) all fits together magically. Most memorable of all, however, is Roman himself: a wonderful host and a committed perfectionist who takes breakfast very seriously! Every morning started with a different surprise treat: fresh fruit from the garden, herbal teas you wouldn't believe and the most delicious waffles ever! The host is also happy to share his wisdom and insights in what the region has to offer and that's plenty...

    Fleur2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Halina. She was a wonderful host, and makes a fantastic breakfast! We certainly recommend staying here.

    Kalon2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Roman is a great host, who makes impeccable breakfasts. He catered to my gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free dietary restrictions with no hesitation and made the most delicious waffles ever! We had a wonderful stay

    Raeanne2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Roman's was exactly what you would expect out of a bnb. He was a pleasure to talk to, the room was immaculate, and the breakfast he provided was spectacular. We even finished off our breakfast playing a little guitar together in the kitchen. Roman did everything he could to make our stay there both comfortable and enjoyable. Tucked away on a quaint little farm on the outskirts of Sooke I would recommend his place to anyone thinking of staying in Sooke. You won't regret it.

  • What a great place to stay. Gerry and Debbie were so welcoming and wonderful. They were accommodating and always checking in on us and what we needed (but not intrusive). We would highly suggest you stay here if you want an ocean-side relaxing spot on your holiday. We will be back!

    Amy2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Gerry and Debbie have a magical place, and are FANTASTIC hosts. I started my stay with a delightful lunch that they catered for a friend's anniversary party. The lush garden setting was the perfect setting! My suite was gorgeous, and well-stocked with breakfast fixins' including farm fresh eggs, bacon, croissant, and seasonal fresh fruit from their orchard. My friends stayed in the other suite, and it was equally amazing. We had some great adventures in and around Sooke, thanks to Gerry and Debbie's suggestions. We had the great pleasure of being there during the eclipse - and they had made a pinhole viewer so we could all share the experience. This is just one of the little touches that they add, because they are so welcoming! I will definitely be back again, hopefully sooner than later!

    Sarah2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Gerry and Debbie are amazing hosts! And they created a true and welcoming bed and breakfast experience that feels like home. The Everett suite was wonderful, custom crafted, with a huge cozy bed and double fireplace—in the middle of a wonderful garden. A dream home for any gardener! We had a wonderful time there, enjoying breakfast outsider under the grapevines, or watching the sunsets over the bay from the gazebos. We would recommend to anyone, anytime!

    Harry2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Gerry and Debbie's place was one of our best Air BnB experiences. It started with great communication and an easy flexible check in. They answered every question quickly and had great suggestions about attractions in the area. The suite was incredibly clean, private and looked exactly like the photos. It sat in some of the most beautiful gardens I've seen, including some really nice sunny areas for sitting and fountains to admire. Their place is situated just down the road from the Galloping Goose Trail. They provided us with bikes and helmets so that we could enjoy some nice scenery while riding the well maintained trail to the Sooke Potholes. Gerry and Debbie's place is only a short drive away from a few really good restaurants however the kitchenette in the suite gave us the option for a nice night in. It was better than well stocked. We had everything on hand that we needed and were able to enjoy the jacuzzi and the double sided fireplace. The king size bed was really comfortable and the double French door allowed in as much sun and smells of the garden as we wanted. Gerry and Debbie were wonderful accommodating hosts. We saw them as much or as little as we wanted. The separate guest parking area meant we could come and go as we pleased without feeling like we caused any disturbance. Everything about the experience was really first class. We really enjoyed the stay !

    Jake2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is more than you can ever imagine, ans Gerry and Debbie are just as great, if not more! If you are looking for a little piece of paradise for a quiet getaway, this is your place!! Beautoful gardens and even an orchars:)

    Rhian2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time using Airbnb. Choosing Sooke Cedar House was the best and worst choice. Best because it blew all expectations out of the water. Worst because it has ruined all other accommodations for me! Gerry and Debbie are so kind and made sure that we were not lacking anything during our time there. I could go on and on about all the other details but it won't do it justice. This will be an ongoing destination for you after you stay the first time.

    Janelle2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Gerry and Debbie were truly gracious and generous hosts. The gardens are exquisite and there is beauty in every detail. The extensive, cabinet-quality woodwork was amazing. We particularly enjoyed our soak in the spacious tub with a glass of the local wine supplied by our hosts. The multi-paned view of the ocean was framed with lovely clematis vines and the Olde English flavour was very romantic. Our hosts seem to have thought of everything we might possibly need ...I even found a needle and tweezers to remove my sliver. Everything was comfortable and perfect!!

  • What a fantastic place to stay! We only stayed 1 night, but we wish we could have stayed longer. This suite was beautiful on the inside and out. Lots of wood decor and rustic feel. You can drink you're coffee out in their wonderful garden full of herbs and raspberries. We ate A LOT of raspberries! This place is slightly away from town (approx. 10 mins) and has a view of the forest. We would definitely recommend this place to others and would love to come back and visit for longer. • Absolutely amazing place. Great getaway from the city. Linda and her friends make you feel welcome and at home. Would recommend this place to anyone.

    Eryn2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Five stars all around. This was the perfect place for us. We stayed for three nights and the only regret is we didn't book for seven.  Willowbend was a fantastic jumping off point to explore the beautiful Sooke region and we spent the days out hiking and exploring. It is only a short drive to some great beaches and hiking trails. There are also two large grocery stores in Sooke, as well as a variety of restaurants. If you drive out to Botanical Beach (highly recommend - be sure to check the tide table first) you can stop off at Cold Shoulder Cafe for some great coffee and fresh baked snacks. The accommodation itself at Willowbend was also excellent. Linda has great attention to detail and it had absolutely everything we might need. It was spotless and comfortable and the bed was SO nice. Linda was very friendly and helpful. I would 100% recommend a stay here.

    Kiera2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • From Linda's warm reception and tour of the facility, to the garden and adjoining trails, this was a wonderful place. After a good long hike we enjoyed the fireplace and a game of crib from her games room. The bed was extremely comfortable, and kitchen spacious and well set up. A great place to stay in its entirety; we would highly recommend anyone we knew to stay here!

    Marg2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place was immaculate, comfortable and included many thoughtful extras (a bit of butter, some homemade raspberry jam, fresh herbs from the garden). I loved the space (bigger than expected!) and the extensive trails surrounding her property. The bed was especially comfortable. Linda was communicative, helpful, and available as needed. Great value and a wonderful escape close to town. I hope to be back!

    Christy2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was a beautifully appointed spot. It was all as advertised and more. Linda was a very gracious and attentive host. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer.

    Pat2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was SO friendly and accommodating! The photos don't do this suite justice! And the little jar of homemade jam in the fridge...?! Priceless! If we're ever in the area again, we'd stay there again for sure!

    Jeff2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a wonderful and relaxing holiday. My wife and i were fortunate enough to be the first to stay at Willowbend. We would highly recommend you consider booking your next getaway here . The accommodations, scenery and peaceful atmosphere were amazing.

The cottage is inviting and cozy, with all the comforts of home. we loved the wood fireplace in both the main room, and bedroom. Woke up to hummingbirds and blue jays, just off the deck. Lovely. Loki and Kara have found a hidden paradise, and are more than happy to share : ) we will definitely be back!

Caryl is an amazing host and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was as great as possible. We would definitely stay here again.

  • This was one of those moments when there is a consideration of "do I keep this little gem to myself, or do I sing it to the (URL HIDDEN) this case, the world needs to know what a delicious little spot this is, and what a wonderful host Caryl was. Caryl's home was amazing....warm, comfortable, and not a need as a visitor. Loved how lovely everything was and having pottery in the cupboards was beyond enjoyable and inviting. Caryl had such generosity and attention to detail...the fresh eggs and home made muffins in the fridge tweeked our hearts, and the book choc a bloc full of information. events, and necessary info was impressive and appreciated. We did not want for anything. We were greeted by her lovely dog Sasha and became quick friends...was lovely to have such a gentle soul greet us and come for snuggles and scratches. And the yard....oh my! Her passion was evident in the beautiful garden area that she has created and invited us to spend time in. I could not get enough of it! And the delightful chickens took the last ounce of stress from us....what a giggle they were! We did not want to leave and seriously are still talking about Caryl and what a wonderful experience we had. This is a woman who is passionate about what she does and this is so evident in what care she took in making our experience the best it could be....note to Air Bnb...this gal really should be on your training team! We look forward to staying again and I can only imagine how far in advance we will have to book! This truly was better than any hotel we have stayed in. Everything made this experience...the rooms, the delicious bed, the little details, the garden, the dozen rabbits in the yard down the road, and Caryl's gentle nature. We felt such sadness that we had to leave, but our next trip will be planned around staying at Caryl's.

  • I only stayed here one night, but it was so comfortable I wanted to stay longer. Anne-Marie is a wonderful host and the suite is top notch with all the amenities in a quiet, restful setting. Close to the Galloping Goose trail for walks, too. I'd stay here again and recommend it highly.

  • The place is great! Has everything you need including a full kitchen! Very close to the galloping goose trail and on the road to the potholes!

    Fraser2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Right beside the beautiful Galloping Goose Trail this huge suite has it all. And a first class host. The rooms are generous and well appointed with a fully furnished kitchen, a sprawling couch in the living room to lounge upon after a hard day on the trail and a superb king size bed in the generous sized bedroom. The suite appears brand new and was sparkling clean. Anne-Marie was gracious and helpful in getting me settled and gave a full rundown on the close proximity of the grocery stores and nearby restaurants. I wanted to stay longer and explore the Sooke River, the Potholes, more of the Galloping Goose and the town of Sooke. The quiet atmosphere, the bird calls, the visiting deer on the lawn all gave the Galloping Goose Hideaway an idyllic setting. Thanks for sharing Anne-Marie.

  • This was an extended stay. Mother nature had tricks up her sleeve for us with extreme heat and some wildfire smoke, so we were very grateful to have such a lovely place to spend extra time. You can't beat the location for Sooke potholes. Easy access to town. Superbly clean.

    Jennifer2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful modern hideaway in the countryside right next to bike trails. Anne-Marie is very welcoming and responsive. A bit difficult to find in the dark despite excellent directions. We would definitely come again!

The kitchen was equipped with everything you could ever need. The sheets and towels were incredibly soft . Anne-Marie was a great host! She added extra items to make the stay unique and wonderful. Thanks again for everything. Look forward to coming back again one day.

Sun-drenched home situated on a private acre, overlooking a protected estuary that abounds with wildlife. This corner of Sooke Basin is reknown as a bird refuge on the migratory path. Cozy up to a wood-burning stove as you watch the storms pass by, or walk through the forest and explore the trails. For the kids there is a trampoline, excellent tree climbing (at your own risk) and all sorts of exploring potential. Here's an excellent site for getting to know Sooke! (URL HIDDEN)
The house has a farmhouse feel with all the modern comforts of today. There are large windows on the south side of the house that let in streams of sunshine even on winter days. On the main floor is a cozy sunroom that overlooks the picturesque peaceful cove. The kitchen and dining room are bright and spacious, also situated to take advantage of the stunning view. Get cozy in the evenings in the living room with a wood burning stove, library and a record player. Also on the main floor is one bedroom with a queen size bed and a powder room. Upstairs large windows overlook the beautiful garden and ocean and mountain vistas. There is an office/sunroom upstairs and a full bath with tub and shower.
The home is located on a short inconspicuous gravel road that has only 3 other houses on it. The neighbors are all very friendly and helpful. The home is walking distance to many wonderful trails. Less than 2 minute walk away is a salmon spawning creek with beautiful wooded trails and 2 uninhabited forested islands (accessible). In the other direction you can walk out to the ocean and collect driftwood or shells. It is about a 5 minute walk to the Galloping Goose Trail which is wonderful for biking, walking and running. The Harbour View trails are just across the road and are great for mountain biking and hiking, boasting incredible views from the top. We have a canoe that you are welcome to use. Our little cove is the perfect place to learn because it is very protected. You can even paddle to lunch or dinner in about 10 minutes to the Stickleback West Coast Eatery ( (URL HIDDEN) ) Also, there is a gas station/convenience store nearby (about 10 min. walk) with a farm stand across the road where you can buy locally made pies, produce, jams, eggs and sometimes frozen chickens. • It was great. Beautiful house in a picturesque spot.

  • Sam's place is a beautiful getaway in a private little corner of a protected beach area... it is indeed quiet and peaceful. The house is lovely- clean, comfortable, with interesting art and touches of whimsy. The yard is huge and gorgeous, with lots of special areas to explore. Our two young children just loved being outside, looking at the pond, conversing with the neighbouring chickens, walking the path to the water... it was just a beautiful weekend, thank you. Sam also provided us with some amazing farm fresh eggs... such a nice gesture. This home was our favourite part of a great weekend in Sooke.

    Mika2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sam's house was immaculately clean and the perfect place to relax and unwind for the weekend. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking and the BBQ on the deck was great. There is a very spacious living area. Having breakfast looking out on the water with the sun streaming in is a lovely way to start your day. Sam was extremely responsive to any questions we had throughout our stay. The house is in a lovely quiet area, but close to the town, with it's own large garden leading straight to the water. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing around the house and it is a perfect base to explore the Sooke area - Sam's recommendations were also helpful. We would definitely stay here again if returning to Sooke.

Greetings! I'm a private chef that has a irresistible call for the wild and I love to show people the way of the land. Taking guests on culinary adventures, packing picnics, foraging, cooking on fire using primitive techniques is a taste of what I do. You will be staying in a sacred tipi and having Nature’s Chef at your service. Everything is included in your stay, rest, relax and adventure!
A unique BnB experience, stay with a holistic chef and adventure. Nature’s Chef Tom Kral has found his home in Sooke, where river meets the sea brings a explosion of life. Ideal for a chef that is off the beaten path. Meals are included with your stay, this and as well taking you out on journey’s, Tom is your perfect guide. Cuisine is local-rustic-wild, nothing pretentious. We can gather foods at times, cook on fire, whatever the moment calls. Sited on 8 acres of land, 10min walk to the beach, close to rainforest and nearby parks, nature surrounds you. Sooke is the last town before you loose cell connection and enter the gnarly rainforests of Juan De Fuca, home to some of the worlds best hiking trails. Also to mention great for recreations like kayaking, surfing, mountain biking, yoga. Tom is a really easy going guy who loves good food! He goes to local organic farms, gather wild edibles, ferment, preserve.. to sum it up you will be eating the best food ever, feeling rejuvenated and making the best of the wild west.
This is the land of Ella. Ella beach is a long stoney beach that is very much private, 10min down Ella Rd will take you there. Seals and sealions may be witnessed from the shore as well as many types of ocean birds and eagles. It is a sheltered cove and provides a good location for sunset photos. Along Ella road runs Ella creek, rainforest is just up the driveway, you will have solitude of nature at a quick walk. Around the corner from Ella beach is Whiffin Spit, excellent view of Sooke basin. Sooke Potholes is one of the Canada’s greatest swimming destinations, river rapidly running with waterfalls, cliffs, beaches, salmon spawning at times. Boardwalk area in Sooke is a pleasant walk from Ed MacGregor park, great space to catch crabs. JDF marine hiking trail is approximately 20min drive from Sooke, one the world’s best. Jordan river is renowned for surfing and paddle boarding. Lakes, rives, mountains are abundant, this is why having a guide you will see the best of it.
  • I lived in NYC for over 6 years, and I can confidently say the food prepared by Tom is simply one of the best dining experience I ever had. This is real food cooked by someone who truly cares for his arts and you can definitely taste it. We feel very lucky the stay here and experience all this. This is a real "Chefs Table" experience. Thank you Tom!

    Tony2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I's experience at Tom's has been the most memorable airbnb experience ever. We were in search for an escape from the city and a new experience, both which our stay at Tom's covered and so much more. My boyfriend and I stayed at Tom's for 2 nights, arriving by car from Vancouver. His home is also conveniently close to a bus stop for a bus that comes Victoria city center. We had no trouble finding his home as he gave a very thorough description of where it is. When we arrived, Tom warmly greeted us and suggested we relax before giving us the tour and moving our baggage. We were presented with an incredible spread of snacks which were all made by him: candied sockeye salmon, pickled bulk kelp (which he foraged), housemade bread and dip. Everything tasted absolutely amazing. With our bellies content, we were shown around the house. The tipi is a good distance from the house, as in private enough but still incredibly walkable (2min walk). Along the way you'll be surrounded by blackberry bushes, which I had so much fun picking and snacking on every time I walked through them. When we reached our tent, it looked even more incredible than the pictures. It was huge! It looked like a massive master bedroom, probably enough to sleep 12-15 people comfortably. He gave us a brief walk through of whats inside: a generously sized bed for two, two separate sleeping spaces next to it, a big gallon of water, an electric lamp fixture and a fire torch too! We were then shown the newly built outhouse, which again was a good distance from the tipi, just behind a blackberry bush. It was clean and was well lit by natural light. Toilet paper, a hand wash station, soap and a hand towel were all provided. After we settled in, Tom suggested to take us to the beach to relax and get a preview of what the Sooke area is like. The beach had an incredible view and lovely features to take pictures at. We stayed around and watched the waves, then made our way back to the house where Tom prepared a nourishing and outstanding meal for us. Our dinner talks over the topic of food were super inspiring as Tom is an incredible enthusiast on health and connecting with nature. We ended the night with dessert, made our way back to the tipi and had a wonderful night sleep. The next day Tom had a very flexible day planned out for us. We were taken to the famous potholes for a swim and did some sightseeing before that. We went back to the airbnb for lunch, relaxed a little then headed out for a light foraging and hiking at Sombria Beach. Tom surprised us with some incredibly breathtaking features and we capped the trip by watching the sunset munching on snacks that Tom had prepared for us. We left Tom's place feeling pampered, well...

  • Tom is a beautiful soul, a magnificent chef and an inspiring human being. We are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to stay with him on his beautiful property and be nourished by meals cooked by someone with such a special connection to the gorgeous part of earth he lives in.

  • David and Christina's place is very close to the Highway 14 and yet tucked away. We enjoyed having a full kitchen to use while we were in Sooke to attend a wedding. We also enjoyed the proximity to Whiffin Spit where we had a good morning walk with locals and their dogs. Their place is clean, comfortable and quiet. Thanks, David and Christina!

  • We really enjoyed our stay with David and Christina. They were lovely, attentive hosts and very friendly and accommodating. The place was very clean, cozy, and comfortable and we had everything we needed. The bed and sofa bed were super comfortable and we all had wonderful sleeps. Set in the vibrant community of Sooke and immersed in the beauty of both forest and ocean, this is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. We were only there for the weekend and spent time on some of the hiking trails. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. Such wonderful hosts. We may be back soon. Thanks for hosting us :)

Clean, quiet, easily accessible with a nice back yard, and family friendly too! (our 4- and 6-year-olds aren't always the most quiet of kids...). The communication and offers of hospitality from the hosts are second to none! Great staging area for West Coast beach adventures, and only 30 minutes from Victoria too!

  • Danica's home was wonderful - much better than expected. The photos are slightly outdated, but the house was massive and kitchen was actually surprisingly spacious and open to the dining room and living area. Don't hesitate to book this place if you're backing away based on the photos - they definitely don't do the place justice. And the view is amazing - literally steps to the beach. The neighbors dog also came by a few times and was really friendly! The only complaint I have is that she tried to charge us GST after we already booked and paid for the trip. Please be more transparent in your listing, or include it in the total price!

Plenty of room with three bedrooms, two baths and two futons in living area. • This place was perfect, exactly what we needed. The views were amazing and the hosts went above/beyond our expectations.

  • Darlene's place was simply amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while on Vancouver Island. Picture having a 1 bedroom apartment on the edge of Sooke Bay all to yourself, that is what this place is. Very clean with an open living room and kitchen layout. Bathroom has a shower and a jacuzzi tub! Bedroom is comfortable and clean. Laundry is in building which was superb. The deck and hot tub overlooking the bay was so nice to hang out in at night. During the day, we took drives north to China Beach and Port Renfrew which were short drives to the north. The dock has a mama and pup seal, so we didn't hang out since we didn't want to disturb them, but it was nice anyways. We noticed jelly fish in the water off of the dock, so I'm not sure I would jump in, but it was beautiful. One thing to note is that the place is behind a larger house, so when you arrive, you can pull to the left and find a small driveway for your vehicle. We would love to come back sometime and this place was perfect.

    Victor2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place!!! Super cute cottage with everything you need including BBQ. Beautiful views from the cottage and grounds with perfectly positioned adirondack chairs to relax and contemplate life and of coarse a bottle of wine. The dock was fantastic, kids loved to throw the crab traps out and enjoyed pulling them up to see what they caught. Spent a lot of time down there. Kayaking was fun and perfect area so the boys could go out on their own. Hot tub and a movie was the perfect end to the day. We hiked around Sooke Pot Holes and found a nice swimming hole to cool off in. They are so close which was nice. Also hiked to Mystic beach which was quite the hike in but totally worth it. Dogs had a great run at the beach. Lots of people on the trail, very popular area for walking in to camp as well. The town of Sooke is super cute so we did some shopping as you can always find time to shop! Next time I would like to make it up to Port Renfrew. It sounds like a fun day trip but just ran out of town. Loved the cottage and the area so will definitely return.

  • We spent three nights at Black Otter Cove. The hostess was great and the place itself was perfect for our group (3 adults and a toddler). The house is very cosy and well fitted with a fabulous view. We made sure that we fit in time to enjoy our lovely place in between trips to discover all the beauty the area has to offer. The enclosed, covered deck was also perfect for the little guy to run around outside safely. We will be back!

  • This place is amazing. The house is very clean and very bright with large widows and a lot of light. You have a private access to the beach which is very nice. Convinience store is located 5 mn drive from the house and Victoria is only 45 mn. Also a lot of great spots in the region as well as farms where you can buy a variety of organic products (eggs, fruits, vegetables ...). Janet is a great host, the communication with her was almost instant. She also was very helpful in recommending the best spots in the region (thanks Janet :-). You also have plenty of space for relaxing and two very comfortable 1 place sofa facing the sea... Which is very relaxing. You also have access to the laundry and fully equipped kitchen. The house and entire are is family friendly and you even have a playground 10mn walk from the house. If you are looking for a "remote" wild spot with quick access to the city and commodities, this is definitely a place you should consider. I highly recommend the host and the place.

  • This was our first Airbnb experience and it was incredible! Janet was a gracious host with lots of suggestions for day trips and local activities. The rental was very clean and well appointed with everything you might need (all kitchen and bathroom items, towels, bedding etc. plus great extras like a stereo with bluetooth connectivity and a hot tub!) The views are unbelievable! Her home is located on a quiet bay which gets the morning sunrise and stays bright until 4:30 or so. It’s a short drive to Sooke, the Potholes Provincial Park, Aylard Farm beach and Creyke Point. Paradise! I'd highly recommend it for anyone who's looking for a quiet place to relax.

  • Janet is lovely and her place is perfect for a small family get away. The space it private, with a beautiful view, gate keep the property safe for kids and there is so much to do within a short drive away. If you are planning on cooking the proper grocery store is a ways away in sooke, so plan for that:)

I have a large loft available in my 1700 sq ft home situated on a 1/2 acre of wildly tamed gardens and so much more. Double bed, down comforter, private bathroom on main floor.
This original home was built in 1911 as a cabin. Fast forward to 1990 when I purchased this lovely property and spent 24 years either undoing other people's work or creating new and tranquil spaces. I added a whole new living space at the back and brought the original cabin up to building code in 1996. The inside is now an open floor plan and the back property is amazingly tranquil. The term, 'don't judge a book by it's cover' is a perfect description of my home. If you see a go-(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map street view you may pass my home by. If you come and have a look, you'd be pleasantly surprised that go-go-(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), didn't get it right! I'm one of the best kept secrets in my rural neighbourhood!!! I do have 2 large breed dogs that are indoor dogs but they can be contained in the other half of my home if you're not comfortable with them. Their biggest downfall is they like people too much. Once they meet you, you're just part of the family and you'll always be greeted with a huge tail wag and loving eyes. They're pretty much a doofus and goobers! Currently, I also have a foster dog that is also contained in the other side of my home, away from the living area. The loft is designed for two people but I can put another 2 people up there with air mattresses or cots. It'll be cozy but not nose to nose so you should all really like each other!! The fees are for double occupancy with the exception of the monthly fee. The 'monthly' fee is based on single occupancy, with a negotiated additional charge based on individual circumstances.
Sooke has always been a safe and down home place to do your daily business with. Back in the day, if I didn't have quite enough cash, I was told to bring it the next time I came shopping. Never needed ID to write a cheque and everyone trusted everyone. It's not quite the same now with it being an affordable bedroom community with townies moving here to get started. Luckily where I live is still like ole town Sooke. We all have a bit of property and small farm animals.

  • Kelli was just a perfect host. She is a warm, lovely and open minded person who made us feel home from the very first moment. Her accomodation is absolutely cosy and comfortable. Her dogs are supersweet and charming. We can only highly recommend Kelli's place. We hope that we get the chance to stay with Kelli and her dogs again.

  • Kelli was very friendly and accommodating, even though we did not know for sure when we would arrive. She invited us for a great home made organic dinner and we had a really nice conversation. Her dogs are a joy to have around. Everything was very clean and tidy. We would recommend this place to anyone who is able to handle dogs:) a very welcoming place to stay.

  • It was a pleasure meeting Kelli. Such a great funky house, The neighborhood is nice and quiet. I really appreciate the fenced yard so we could let our dogs roam outside. Thank you for all your consideration with having your dogs and mine and keeping everyone happy and safe it is really appreciated.

  • Kelli was very kind, friendly and easy going. She is a fabulous lady that dedicates much of her time to her dogs, Rocket, Ellie and the newest addition Hanzi. You feel welcome from the moment you arrive. It's a good location with lovely neighbours. The room is spacious and comfortable, beautiful back yard, complete with chickens, if that isn't enough she cooked delicious Thai Curry for us!!! We really enjoyed our time there. Thank you for everything Kelli!!!

  • We've had a chill time in Sooke @ Kelli's. Kelli and her dogs were very welcoming and we felt at ease at the house. Great bed and bath, in walking distance to the beach, friendly hide away from any crowds.
