Just booked in Slocan

Cute and simple mini cottage nestled in old growth forest between 2 creeks. Very peaceful and quiet. Lots of light, it has 19 windows! Try out the micro home lifestyle!
I designed and built this semi rustic mini cottage as a hobby project 2 years ago. It's 12 x 12 feet with a 6.5 x 9 ft sleeping loft. Its simple, basic, and uncluttered. Very peaceful and quiet, tucked away in the trees with a king of the castle view down to Sproule creek. The kitchenette has a mini fridge, toaster oven, 2 burner hotplate, and microwave. Water is supplied by 5 gallon container which sits next to the sink. There's a small table with 2 chairs and a love seat. A radiant space heater keeps it really warm and cozy. The loft is accessed by ladder (not suitable for those who have trouble with ladders) and has a firm double mattress. There is some storage space beside the loft. The bathroom and w/d facility are in a separate building (main residence) 20 meters away from the cabin. The bathroom is large and spacious and is shared with 1 or 2 other airbnb guests who may be renting rooms in the main residence. Cottage guests have 24hr access to the bathroom which is just inside the front door of the main residence. Please read the house rules and full descriptions before sending a reservation request. Preference is given to bookings of 3 nights or more. 1 and 2 night bookings will only be considered if they fill a gap between other bookings or if requested less than 10 days in advance. IMPORTANT: Guests must schedule an exact check in time a day before arrival. There is no check in window. I will be scheduling my other activities around your specific arrival time. Weekday check ins are usually after 7:00pm because of my work schedule. Also, please look at the map location...this cottage is 8 minute drive west of Nelson, 10 minutes to downtown.
8 minutes drive west of Nelson. 10 minutes drive to downtown. Quiet neighborhood of hobby farms. 20 minutes to the Whitewater turn off. Red Mountain about an hour away. Sproule creek hiking trail 1 minute up the road. Taghum beach 5 minutes away.

  • Great little cozy cabin close to Nelson

  • How magical to walk across the stream by bridge to the tiny home glowing out of every window, how peaceful the sound of running water. It is rare to find such a gem on air bnb that is not sterile or generic. Debra's place is enchanting, simple, and cozy. Thank you for infusing the place with care and beauty, and for welcoming us so warmly. We felt at home in the forest.

  • Great spot. Great host. Perfect little hideaway from 'hustle and bustle' of Nelson. The cabin was comfy and cozy for the two of us.

  • We had a wonderful stay at the mini cottage. It's absolutely beautiful and charming in every way and Debra is a great host. We would highly recommend a stay in this fantastic location!!

  • This is a very quiet, peaceful and lively getaway spot! Debra created a safe, welcoming and very unique experience for us. The home she has built herself is outstandily beautiful with space and lots of natural light. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Driftwood is ideally located at the mouth of the Slocan River by the lake. It has been declared, "The best house in Slocan" by locals and visitors alike because of this. • Best location!

  • Driftwood is a great place to escape. It is very close to Slocan lake. The town is very quiet, but has all the basics you will need. Great hiking, swimming, scenery! Nicole was a great host and her house was very comfortable! We would definitely return!

    Christina2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Driftwood has such a great location so close to the water, only a few steps and we were skimming stones on the lake The property was very clean, everything you need is here, plenty of space, great open kitchen/dining/lounge The daybed next to the window and the outlook from the dining table were the highlights for us - never grow tired of the views. Fruits in the garden and deer wandering through were a bonus too.

    Stuart2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! I would definitely recommend it!

    Shelby2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a special place! A comfortable and well cared for home & yard with incredible access to adventuring right outside the door. We enjoyed meals outside, taking in the wonderful view, boating on the lake to beautiful beaches & hiking, and walking just blocks to the market & bakery. The house has everything you need, just enough information on things to do in the area, and Nicole was accessible & great to work with. We're grateful Nicole & her family share this spot with others & can't wait to visit again.

    Sarah2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Love Slocan! Driftwood has it all location location location. Right by the beach and 5 min from bakery. Excellent house for our family. Great people in this town. Thx Nicole.

  • Such a peaceful and relaxing couple of days. Literally right across the street from the beach. The town is very quiet and locals were very friendly. I will be back!

    Matt2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Driftwood is an oasis in the Kooteney's. The view across the valley up into the mountains was spectacular. The home was clean & comfortable with everything we needed. We enjoyed picking raspberries, plums, peas & tomatoes. The beach was a 2 minute walk. The water so clear that you could see your toes standing in waist high water. Fishing off the dock & water was enjoyed by the guys. The general store provided what we needed. Breakfasts & Friday night pizza was delicious at Flach's. It was a great base spot to visit with family & friends. Best location in the valley.

My new, naturally renovated guest cottage features beautiful non-toxic clay plastered and painted walls, wood floors and ceilings and a claw foot tub. Wood stove in the winter and waterfall dipping in the summer. Sauna runs year round! A perfect place to retreat away from the city. Free of toxins, WiFi, cell towers and street lights. No synthetic scents, harsh cleaners or toxic building materials are ever used in this space. The sheets and towels are dried on the line, in the sun.
Fabulous Farm is the testing ground for many natural buildings in various stages of completion. There is a straw bale building, several light clay buildings (including the sauna), and many examples of natural renovation, non-toxic building materials and permaculture design. It's all very interesting and I'll be happy to give you a tour. Your cabin is a beautiful example of clay paints and plasters, a Moroccan burnished lime finish tub surround and locally milled wood floors, ceilings and trim. The water is heated by the sun (with electric backup). You will drink delicious, fresh, unchlorinated spring water from the taps. The full kitchen is bright and has a mountain view right down the Slocan Valley. There is a double bed in the one bedroom, and a couch that turns into a single bed in the living room overlooking the creek fed waterfall and pond. It's just a wee waterfall, but it's grand and sounds wonderful. More mats could be dragged in for children or hippies if you want to be crowded! The grounds surrounding the cabin are rustic and a bit wild right now, with a kitchen garden and fruit trees. I'm always working to tame the mess, but I am disabled and it is slow going! There will be a pottery studio to peruse through soon. I can't wait.
Just across the road from Fabulous Farm is the famous Slocan Valley Rail Trail for walking, biking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing. Perry's Bridge/Beach, the also famous put-in spot for tubing down the Slocan River, is a three minute walk away. Back country skiing is all around the area and Whitewater and Red Mountain ski hills are just over an hour away. There are two wonderful restaurants in "downtown" Winlaw (7 minutes south), and a great diner and a cafe in Slocan City (15 minutes north). Groceries, healthy fresh food stores, gas and booze in each town as well.
  • Staying at Peggy's cottage was one of our best airbnb and favourite experiences! We had originally thought that we would stay only 2 days at her place and then hop over to Nelson for the remaining of our trip. We were so glad we did not do that and chose to stay for all 4 days with Peggy instead! Winlaw is such a beautiful place and Peggy's farm is so charming! We really love how hospitable and welcoming Peggy is. She is beautiful, talented and just have the most charming disposition! There were mugs in the cottage that she personally made which we were loved so much that we brought two home with us. Peggy also shared with us the amazing work that she had done to the cottage using natural building techniques. The bathroom is exceptionally beautiful. The kitchen has a view of the mountains while you cook. The living room faces the pond which has a small waterfall that flows into it. The bedroom is cozy and comfortable. In addition, Peggy also has two beautiful cats that came and snuggled with us while we sat on the couch reading our books. The cats have such loving personalities that made us feel so much at home. Then there is a beautiful dog that lives on the property and we believe she is the happiest dog in the world. One morning, we woke up from our bed and as we looked out of the kitchen window, the doggy was sitting in front of the door waiting to say good morning! Talk about a wonderful morning. Peggy is also very knowledgeable about the area. She knows where all the good food is! We did a day trip from Winlaw to Kaslo, then Ainsworth Hot Springs to Nelson. Peggy gave us a lot of good information on where to find the best breakfast, which place has the friendliest people, where interesting things are that we needed to check out and even told us where to find the best pizza bread on our way home to Vancouver. She knows so much! A great bonus is the sauna that she built. She invited us to join her and her friend, who was visiting, to have a late night wood-stove sauna session. It was so amazing! We chatted and chatted throughout the night on many interesting things. Peggy's cottage is also very close to a railway trail that you can hike on. It's a beautiful and easy hike or bike ride by the river. Absolutely gorgeous and stunning! We highly recommend Peggy's cottage! After staying there, we now feel like we have a home away from home that we could go to every time we visit the Kootenays. Peggy and the animals and her cottage make us want to go back so badly. And if you are someone that is interested in permaculture and natural building, you are in for a treat as Peggy has lots to share!

  • LOVED my stay at Fabulous Farm! And Peggy was a fantastic guest. It is the cutest little cabin with so many funky touches. The ambiance of the place is unique and was just what I was craving. I appreciated the little bouquets of flowers that she left for me and the claw foot tub was great to soak in. I am an animal lover, so I enjoyed amicable visits from her two cats and the neighbour's dog when I went out for walks around the property. Peggy was very welcoming and lovely to spend time with. She showed me all around her place and the garden. She even let me pick a salad for my dinner meal! Overall, I loved this place. Definitely planning on returning.

  • This is a very nice, well-finished cottage with all the amenities. Lots of space and very quiet. Excellent bakery and health food restaurant not far away in Winlaw. The area is very scenic, and not very far from Silverton and new Denver (north) and Nelson (south). It is not city and shopping but country and slow pace, relaxing, looking at forests, rivers, little towns. I had a very nice stay.

    Blake2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Peggy was a perfect host. She was helpful and easy going. Her perfect little cabin is peaceful and private. I loved every quirky detail, every thoughtful little comfort. The location can not be beat, right in the heart of the Slocan Valley - close to Winlaw and Slocan City and all the boundless natural beauty one could hope for. I felt at home the moment I walked in the door. We spent a chilly evening around the wood stove, our linens were clean and comfortable, and Peggy even made up a lovely little bed for my son. Peggy is living the Kootenay dream and anyone who stays with her will be fortunate to experience a taste of it! Thank you Peggy!

    Andie2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Peggy is warm, funny, and interesting to talk to...all in all a great host! The rural property is set in a beautiful valley, and there's a lot to look at for anyone interested in natural building.

    Rachel 2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Peggy's cabin was one of the best experiences I had. My bf and I were lucky enough to stay there for a whole month and we loved every minute of our stay. Peggy is such a sweet person and she is available for any questions or concerns even before you get there. You can get a feel of her creative and whimsical side in the cabin, in her house, and around the farm. I have a new appreciation for nature, simple way of life, and the Kootenays. Missing Meerah (the dog), Chip & Pam (cats) so much already!!! We would love to go back whenever we could :)

    Sophia2016-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • I loved the quiet, natural setting of this lovely cabin. It felt more like a house. It was clean, newly renovated with natural building materials and was super cozy. The cabin had a lovely view from the living room of the little pond and waterfall. I enjoyed the cats that belonged to the host who dropped by to say hello as well as the dog Mirah who belongs to a neighour. This place was really easy to get to since it's right off the highway. This was the perfect place to get away from it all and an affordable spot from which to tour the West Kootenay region. The host was a delight. Peggy is super friendly and is happy to share info about her natural building projects and her land. She was a fun host.

    Maria2016-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Peggy's was great! The cottage was simple, charming and well stocked. Peggy has a keen eye for colour and style. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed the sounds of the small waterfall and view of the pond. The stars at night were spectacular! We also enjoyed the unobtrusive visits from the kitty and Mirah the friendly, stick loving dog. As we were interested in natural building Peggy, very graciously, showed us around her own home and gave us great insights and advice about different aspects of green building. Thanks again!

  • wonderful vacation in the Kootenay Lookout cabin

    John2015-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house in a stunning setting. It is a bit of a process to reach the property.. try not to arrive after dark! The kitchen is fantastic, but be sure to bring ALL your food- we found no condiments except salt and pepper. No oil, vinegar, sugar, tea, baking powder, spices. I like to cook, so that was a bit of a surprise and an inconvenience. Wear sturdy shoes (not flip-flops!) when you venture down to the water, as the trail is quite steep. Chris the caretaker was very helpful and accommodating. I would stay here again, but bring more staples with me.

    Rebecca2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful view, beautiful property! What a view! We really enjoyed it. The kitchen was well equipped, we had everything we needed. Chris was friendly and helpful checking us in. A nice family friendly and quiet location for a vacation to get away from it all. Its a very steep hike 600ft+ (I'm guessing) down to the waterfront, but our four year old managed it with us. Too bad the dock was damaged in a recent storm. Nice luxury touches in the beds and bathrooms. Where did you buy those soft fuzzy throw blankets?

    L Janine2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place. Very beautiful setting and home, lots of space, clean and modern. It is very remote and we were not quite prepared for that. Restaurants are quite some distance away and most close early, same with food markets, so it's wise to bring some food along for the first evening/morning. Cellular reception was none to nil which required that we drive 20 min. or more to do business. Host provided lots of helpful information. A great value overall.

    Keith & Barbara2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Kootenay Lookout cabin was the perfect spot to stay for our first family vacation with our 10 week old son! The cabins are beautiful and have all of the amenities needed for a very comfortable stay. The A/C was much appreciated as it was a hot week while we were there, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed to cook some great meals! The view from the cabin is fantastic and we spent many hours sitting on the deck enjoying it, and the fire table was a great way to enjoy the deck in the evening. The lower covered patio was a nice way to get out of the sun while still enjoying the view also. The nearby towns of New Denver and Silverton had the amenities we needed and some nice beaches. The only word of caution is that the trail down to the water from the cabin is quite steep and may not be suitable for very young children or older folks, and is not conducive to going back and forth from the water to the cabin many times in a day (it is a steep hike back up!). This wasn't a problem for us though as we enjoyed the beautiful beaches nearby instead. Sarah, Janet and Gary were wonderful hosts and provided excellent information about the area and made sure we had a great stay! Janet and Gary were lovely on-site host and made sure we had A/C, wifi and even researched information on fishing in the area for my husband! I would recommend this cabin to anyone - a gorgeous spot to get away and relax, and would be perfect for a larger group also!

  • We had just finished an amazing backpacking trip in Valhalla and came to this lovely little cabin in winlaw. It was super private and quaint, exactly what we like! Very charmed by the place and the friendliness of our lovely hosts. Would (and will!) 100% come back again.

    Syma2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend the Whistling Eagle cabin for a quiet relaxing retreat! 8 days gave me enough time to settle in and enjoy this beautiful spot and to do some exploring of the Slocan Valley. Magnificent scenery and rich history make this part of BC well worth a visit, and I felt I was in an ideal location, in the country but not far from Nelson and the smaller towns in the valley. Robyn and Brian are kind and thoughtful hosts, and the cabin has everything needed for a comfortable off-grid experience. Robyn's art is a lovely touch! The space is very private, however they are close by and always helpful answering questions and giving suggestions. I would love to go back again !

This hideaway in the truly beautiful Slocan Valley is 3 miles off Hwy 6 in Winlaw into the aptly named Paradise Valley. The guest house looks into the trees from a spacious covered deck. There is a well equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, 2 bedrooms . . .one queen, one double . . .comfortable chairs, TV, DVD/CD, wifi and a phone line because cell phones don't work here. Really. There's a washer/dryer and covered parking. On the deck is a clawfoot bathtub, more comfortable chairs, BBQ. Although only about an hour away from many lively towns and hot springs and ski hills, you needn't travel far for things to do because 'downtown' Winlaw has a lot to offer. There is a corner grocery, an organic market, 2 very fine cafes with lots of live music. Winlaw is also a trail head for the Rails to Trails, which affords miles of trail to walk, bike or cross country ski on. In summer the river is sublime for swimming or floating down and the majestic Slocan Lake is 20 minutes away. In winter you can snowshoe or ski right out your door. This is where I would want to come, if I didn't already live here.
  • Linda Rae was a perfect hostess! She gave us accurate directions and was flexible with our check-in time. The fresh bread, milk, and butter were welcome treats for us weary travelers. The resident puppies were friendly and fun to play with. Our only regret is that we had to hit the road early in the morning and didn't get to explore the beautiful property. We hope to visit again one day!

    Jackson2015-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little spot with so much to offer. It was a perfect weekend out of the city. Linda is a wonderful woman who will make you feel so incredibly welcomed. Her sweet pup was a great friend for my pup and her yummy homemade bread and jam were so thoughtful and delicious.

    Melissa2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at Linda's planning to stay for one night but after she showed us around we quickly decided that we have to stay an extra night just to be able to get a taste of the surroundings. Easy to get to even with a small car like ours, great amenities, a well equipped kitchen, overall a great place to spend weeks rather than days!

    Marian2016-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was the consummate hostess. Every detail was taken care of. We got stuck in a snowstorm our first night and were unable to arrive on time. When we arrived the next day, she let our reservation slide a day so we could fully enjoy her lovely hospitality. From the fresh milk, eggs and bread she left us to the cozy guest house she keeps spotlessly clean, we enjoyed our stay at Linda's house beyond measure. It is our favorite Airbnb that we have stayed at on 3 continents. Everyone should experience this kind of care on their travels. We will definitely be back!

    Amy2015-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect mountain forest getaway. All the amenities of home, and more. Linda is an absolute sweet heart, and so is her dog Rory. Wonderful fresh bread and organic milk in the fridge was a great extra. And all the fixings to press you own coffee. Recommend highly !!

    Noah2015-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A dream place to stay, the bed was massive and comfortable and the room was very luxurious. The house is surrounded by the beautiful forest of Paradise Valley, wiliest in the evening the house was lit up with small fairy lights which framed the windows and outdoor area. Linda went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. By far the best airbnb experience I have been to.

    Stephanie2014-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hostess Linda so warm and helpful. Outdoor tub was great. Well worth the short drive to a fabulous place

  • Linda and her place are absolutely amazing! We received a warm welcome upon our arrival and her cabin in the woods was even better than we had expected. For a relaxing cozy retreat where you are away from it all, and and are wanting for nothing, this is where you want to stay when travelling in the winlaw area. Thanks Linda!

Beautiful furnished 4 bed/2 bath guest house on 2 acres. Rural, secluded setting with views yet close to amenities of Silverton / New Denver area (within 5-10 min.) Adventure is out the doorstep with many backroads, trails and backcountry to access!
We are unique by offering affordable getaways for families or groups in a mountain setting. We are 5-10 min. drive to the amazing beaches of Slocan Lake and near to access some of BC's most beautiful parks such as the Stunning Valhalla Provincial Park, Goat Range and Historical Sandon, Kokanee Glacier Park and there are trails to access just out the door! The space has been totally renovated and/or new from 2008 - Current and is very efficient and cozy all year round. Maintenance and cleanliness are of high standards, so you can expect comfort :) The area is remote, secluded and quiet but yet close to a secondary road for easy access and quick trips to amenities or adventure. You can bike or hike right from the property or for a quick drive there are many more attractions such as Hot Springs, Villages, Cafes and Restaurants, Markets and Artisan Shops.
The neighborhood is generally quiet with some local folks walking their dogs on Red Mtn. Road. The only traffic is from the locals as its a secondary road, some days you will hear nothing but the sounds of the birds singing or the snow falling. From the house and deck you look out to forest and mountains and are surrounded by trees. The neighborhood is rural area with not much activity, you may hear the far off sound of a dog barking or a chainsaw in the fall as the rural folk prepare for our winter season...Locals that frequent the neighborhood are located acres away and are very friendly. You will get tons of privacy and get the secluded feeling up on the mountain. There are NO street lights at all, so bring a headlamp or flashlight if you like to go for walks at night, it is very dark but stunning when the moon comes out!
  • Beautiful house! Our kids loved the garden and the play structure. We didn't get to meet Monika, however she was always on hand to answer any questions we had through text message. Would love to return! The Silverton and New Denver area is stunning.

  • Our stay has been absolutely fantastic, rejuvenating, and peaceful. We all loved the house and the beautiful land around it. We appreciated the love that's been put into the construction of the simple yet elegant open floor plan :) Communicating with Monika was an absolute delight compared to previous experiences with other hosts. She modified our reservation when we left another place prematurely due to a misleading listing. This is a wonderful and safe place to have a peaceful and relaxing vacation with your family or friends. When we arrived there was ample dry wood and kindling to keep the place nice and toasty, there was a beautiful kitchen, and the clawfoot tub was used religiously by one of us for relaxing bubble baths. A walk around the perimeter of the yard will undoubtedly increase the botanical value of your good life, and the beautiful golden "grandfather larch" will leave you inspired. There are views of the mountains nearby which are absolutely breathtaking, and it has a very close proximity to the lake. I would just recommend doing grocery shopping prior to arriving at the house as there isn't much grocery shopping available nearby.

  • Thanks Monika, Your a total pleasure to deal with. We had a great time mountain biking, great CD selection for our dinner parties, room for our awesome friends. The Kootney's is the perfect place to lay back and forget you have a phone or a life on the other side. Thanks again to the host! Sacha

  • What a lovely escape into the snowy mountains. The Mountain Cottage is very spacious and properly equipped for a great stay. The wood stove kept us all toasty warm when we weren't out playing on the property or exploring the area. Monika is a great host and provided great information and details on how to access to property and make the most of our stay.

  • The location is good. The house is large, as described and was a very comfortable fit our large group. We were told 24 hours before check-in that the sauna was not working and also that there would be a realtor and interested buyers coming to the house for a visit during our stay. Upon arrival, we had to sweep as there was broken glass on the kitchen floor and debris on the carpet. We did not know before arriving that there was a boil water advisory at the house so we were not able to properly prepare safe drinking water in advance.

    Hayfa2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • The weekend we spent at Mountain Cottage was glorious! The cottage came clean, comfortable and fully equipped as it promised. We were so thankful for kind, helpful neighbors and Fred who patiently helped us out of the snow when we missed the turn and couldn't turn around to get back. We loved walking around in the peaceful surroundings, and coming back to a warm wood stove was the perfect way to relax. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would love to come back and see it in a different season. Thank you, Monika and Fred!

  • This is a very clean and cozy house in the middle of the forest. Very secluded, but there are neighbors nearby. We had seven in our party this time around, and this place was more than comfortable for us all. Check in was super simple. There is a sound system, games, and lots of literature in the house. It could use some new skillets as the Teflon on the two in the house are quite damaged. If you are super picky about beds, you should know that the mattresses are pretty firm, which I liked, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.. Two of the beds are futon mattresses, one of which is directly on the floor. There was a boil advisory when we were there, so if that's a concern for you, make sure you bring some drinking water. There is also a data limit of 20GB on the internet, with overage charges, so if you have any data intensive work to do, plan accordingly. This particular rental also requires a separate contract/waiver that you have to fill out and sign outside of Airbnb. All in all, we were quite pleased with the place. It's in a really lovely spot.

  • This cottage was in a winter wonderland.. so much beauty surrounding it and there is way to much to explore to only come once! I cant wait to come back to that area to adventure more! The cottage was so cozy, and easily fit my 9 friends and I! It had everything we needed and I have no complaints at all! Even though I didn't get to officially meet Monika, the phone calls we had .. I can tell she is a genuine person, super easy going to talk to and helpful to answer any questions! I would for sure stay here again! Thanks for the great experience and sharing your place with us :D

We offer a cozy cabin surrounded by trees with woodstove, kitchen, small fridge, hotplate, dishes and cookware. There is no attached bathroom. There is a guest outhouse (and showers available on request). We are 3 km south of Winlaw in the Slocan valley. We are right off the highway but enjoy complete privacy. Just across the highway is the rail-to-trail pathway for biking, x-country skiing, and walks. For winter months we have a cozy stove and water from a dispenser.
As mentioned... we are just south of Winlaw, in the Slocan valley - a great place for hiking, swimming, canoeing, and adventuring. In the winter... this is the heart of back-country area. Snowwater heli skiing is less than 25 km from here. Rettalack Lodge (catskiing) is within an hour and a half and so is Whitewater or Red mountain. Sorry - we can't accommodate dogs. One of our dogs is an alpha female - loves attention from people but does not get along with other dogs.
There are cafes, a health food store, herbal store general store, thrift store, and more available in Winlaw.
  • Todd and his family were wonderful hosts. I quite enjoyed playing with Ciel on the trampoline and I used one of their mountain bikes to ride the Rail Trail to Slocan. It's a gorgeous area to explore and the natural surroundings make for a very relaxed feel to my stay. The breakfast was amazing - I would definitely go for it and they were kind enough to do a small batch of laundry for me. If you want to try a bit of living off the grid with a wonderful family, look no further.

    Sandy2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Todd, Natalie and Ciel were so welcoming as hosts. I really appreciated how communicative they were online prior to arriving and we even arranged to join them for dinner and a concert at Winlaw's "Sleep is for Sissies" and "Mama Sita's", both of which are great laid back and nearby venues (10 min drive). Their private, treed property is right off the highway, about 40 minutes drive from Nelson and 10 minutes to Winlaw. The property is quiet and peaceful and the cabin is beautiful, featuring WiFi to plan further trips, electricity and a wee kitchen/fridge to prep meals. The toilet is a composting toilet on the property and the shower is outdoors, which was totally fine with us. Natalie greeted us on arrival and gave us a tour of the place. They have 2 barky but super friendly dogs who also greeted us on arrival, as well as their beautiful cat. Such a short but sweet, 1 night stay for us but I'd definitely look to visit again when we are back in the area. It really just felt like we were visiting long lost friends! Thank you for having us!

    James2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic rustic cabin. Has everything you need. Not for everyone, but perfect expience for those unafraid of an outdoor shower and an outhouse. The host was freindly and welcoming, made sure I was taken care of.

    Clay2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was super cute and cozy! The family was super nice and hospitable, and the dogs + Monsieur were so adorable. Would definitely stay here again. The only thing is that I wish there was a fan in the cabin as there was no breeze and it was a bit stuffy.

    Brianna2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had a wonderful time here, Todd and his family are lovely people that made us feel right at home. We enjoyed an amazing breakfast with one of the best lattes I've had our whole trip and the price for the night and breakfast was fantastic. There is only an outhouse though, no flushing toilets, but it's so secluded and quaint that we didn't mind. We had fun with Monsieur, the cat, who is super friendly as well as the two adorable dogs that wanted nothing more than to be the centre of attention. We would definitely consider this place again if we are in the area.

    Heather2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cabin with everything you need. Very welcoming hosts with the most delicious breakfasts... seriously. Slocan lake nearby was great for kayaking and there's plenty to explore nearby. Laid back and smartly simple little getaway.

    Stefan2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay. If you want an earth friendly cabin, this is it. Fruit smoothies were fantastic. Garden was wonderful. We hope to have a return visit.

    Kim2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our cabin experience at Todd & Natalie's home. It was exactly as we had anticipated. The outhouse was the very best we've ever used! It was very clean and, dare I say, there were absolutely no unpleasant odours. Thank you again.

Pegs Post got her name from the original occupant of the 1930s. This Log cabin is clean sunny and family friendly in a park like setting just steps to Slocan lake yet in the centre of Silverton. Close to restaurant, General Store, beaches and tennis
  • Peg's Post cabin was exactly as described and we had the most wonderful stay in Marianne's tidy cabin by the beautiful pristine Slocan Lake. Marianne was great to communicate with and quick to respond. Both beds were very comfortable with nice pillows and down duvets. There were thoughtful places to put your belongings and the cabin was stocked with all the appliances one needs for cooking. We loved the sweet coffee bar area and the outdoor spaces. The town is really special with gardens in yards, a simple playground (which we walked to daily) and two neat cafe's. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us, it was such a treat!

    Heather & Garric2015-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was a great get away! Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. The yard was amazing especially the covered deck and the outdoor kitchen. Loved the small town of silverton and of course slocan lake which was 1 minute away!

    Ashley2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great price and facilities in the most beautiful location just steps from the water. Loved the outdoor cooking facilities and the deck! Also enjoyed the huge yard when we weren't at the lake!

    Melissa2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed with our 3 year old in August and had a great time. The cabin was very clean and had everything we could need. The best part is the covered porch, the outdoor stove, and the big fenced yard that was perfect for bocce. You are steps from several beaches and the shops in town. This place was total summer relaxation. We will be back!

    Kelsey2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Pegs Post Cabin for a week with my mum and we absolutely had a fantastic time. The cabin is quite spacious for two people. Cooking outside was a lot of fun - super simple set-up but sufficient. The nice patio for outside dinners and big garden around the house made us feel really lucky. The town is tiny and quiet which was exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I didn't meet Marianne in person but she was extremely helpful and getting in touch with her was no problem at all. I can highly recommend this place.

Situated just 2 blocks from the beautiful shores of Slocan Lake, this 2 bedroom 2 bathroom rancher is ideal for a vacation getaway. The quaint town of New Denver is close by for grocery shopping, gifts, gas, banking and restaurants. Kick back and take in the peaceful and awesome beauty of the Slocan Valley.
  • The place is so lovely. It is clean, warmly decorated and a minute walk from the lake. Everything is top notch. Excellent communication with Colleen, our host. We would definitely stay here again.

    Mary2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We were fortunate to be Colleen's first guests after the cottage was completely renovated inside. The cottage is exactly as shown in the photos. Everything is new or like-new. The decorating and furnishings are tasteful and high quality. The kitchen utensils and supplies are generous. The beds are comfortable. All the rooms are bright with plenty of windows. The property is nicely screened with a mature evergreen hedge all around the perimeter. Colleen made every effort to make us feel welcome. The Slocan Valley is very scenic and is less touristy than neighbouring valleys, and Silverton is very tranquil. Because the valley is not very touristy, it's hard to find quality vacation rentals so Colleen's cottage is a "find".

    Gareth2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • I had an absolutely perfect stay at this property. The cottage is situated within the scenic town of Silverton, steps from the beach, and within easy driving distance to neighbouring towns. The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished with everything you could need. Colleen is a very responsive and helpful host. I strongly recommend this property and hope to return again myself some day!

Close to New Denver for groceries, and central for day trips to places such as Kaslo, Sandon etc...Liz was very friendly and offered great suggestions about things to do in the area. • We were very pleased with this rental house. The house was very clean, bright and spacious. Very nice living room furniture and the beds in the three bedrooms were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, nice fridge and we appreciated having a bbq (which looked new) at our disposal. It was a perfect location for us. Quick walk to the pebbled beach and there was a boat launch a few houses away. Suggest you bring water shoes. Liz was very friendly and helpful. She was quick to respond to any questions we had and left us lots of useful information about the area posted on the fridge. Would definitely return and would recommend this house to anyone staying in this area.

Three bedroom creekside cottage located in New Denver BC. This updated bungalow is walking distance to all amenities of town, the beach, marina, lakeside trails etc. A serene place to unwind and enjoy the outdoor activities of the Kootneys!
This updated bungalow comes complete with newer appliances including washer/dryer, TV, DVD player and wood burning stove for cozy evenings and cooler times of year. With 3 bedrooms, each with double or queen beds, listen to the relaxing sound of the creek as you have the best sleeps of your life.
Cottage is located on the 'Mori' creekside trail along Carpenter Creek to Slocan Lake. Just a couple blocks from the Village Centre.
  • The location, for our purposes, could not have been better. We could walk out the creekside door and down to the lake or straight on to the Galena Trail. We could walk out the front door and be two or three blocks from everything in New Denver, including the Hidden Garden Gallery, the shops, and the Friday Farmer's Market. The house was immaculate and fully functional. The wood stove works well, as do the baseboard heaters. The kitchen is fully stocked and user-friendly (although, if you are quite short, like me, you'll find the high cupboards a bit daunting). The picture window in the living room is a seductive hangout spot during thunderstorms. All in all, this is a real house, suitable for actually living in, as we did for most of a summer, but also charming for a short stay, especially given the wonderful New Denver location.

  • Overall and excellent place to stay in New Denver. Very close to "downtown" New Denver. Home is comfortable and very well equipped. The home if finished with basic finishings, but matches the home well. Lots of space for kids to enjoy in both the front and back yards. Just be very aware that bears frequent the entire yard during all times of the day. Bear spray is essential for all and smaller kids should be closely watched when outside.

  • Very nice stay at Stacie, the house is very nice, well equipped and ideally located near the lake. The garden and the terrace allowed us to have a good time. From the house we were able to do many hikes: Idaho Peak, Shannon Lake, Dannon Lake and the sublime Brennan Peak. A house that we advise to all. • God Bless Stacie for being available by telephone to talk us into the correct neighborhood in New Denver when we had mislaid her very excellent map on the long Journey to New Denver. We were just in time to savor the fabulous mountain views at sunset from the huge living room picture window, and opened our bedroom windows to the sound of rushing water from the creek. The open floor plan is ideal for cooking and dining helped by an extraordinary well stocked kitchen with every utensil and dish you might require. Very comfortable beds, ample laundry facilities and a dynamite modern bathroom with big fluffy towels completed the much appreciated amenities. Very valuable information was available on the historical nature of the area along with suggestions for varied exploration. Much to my daughter's joy, we able to rent a paddleboard and kayaks at the bottom of the main street and explore the coastline of Slocum Lake. We mostly walked to town and enjoyed immensely the Friday Market and the chance to meet the fine craftspeople who thrive in the New Denver area, A friendler group of folks you could not meet anywhere else. Those beautiful handcrafts we purchased were stashed away in our suitcases and brought home to California as little treasures with beautiful memories. It was difficult to leave but my daughter so wants to return on vacation to this family home in the very near future, Thank you Stacie. It was a pleasure!

    Marilyn2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The home was perfect for our ski touring base. The rooms cozy and beds comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans and anything we needed. We got the access code the night before and Stacie's Aunt was very helpful (neighbour). Hot water was not in abundance, one shower and it was a few hours wait until the next, but the wood stove and the supply of excellent wood to burn kept us toasty and happy! Easy place to be. Thank you.

    Karley2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house was fantastic - the pictures don't really do it justice, especially the yard which faces the creek. Stacie was in contact with us leading up to our arrival and made sure to check in on us after we were settled. The house was immaculately clean and had everything we would need during our 4 night stay. Walking distance to the farmers market on Friday morning, the liquor & grocery store, and best of all - nature! New Denver is a gem of a town and Stacie's creek side house is a perfect place to call home while in the area. We will be back!

    Kelsey2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Mori's Creekside Cottage is nice and open, it's comfortable, equipped, and most importantly clean. A large picture window provides outstanding views of Valhalla and surrounding mountains. The three bedrooms make it versatile for couples or families. It has all the amenities you need including a terrific BBQ for grilling, a lovely patio for outside dining/lounging and strong water pressure in the shower. Great location with direct access to the lakeside trail as well as a quick walk to the "Main Street's" shops, services and restaurants. It was a wonderful place to get away for the long weekend. Stacie was an excellent communicator and very accessible. She made sure we had all the information required for an easy stay. And the weather was awesome! We couldn't ask for more. Thanks! We'll be back.

Welcome to New Denver. We've been here 20 years and still enjoy the quiet rural/village atmosphere. Slocan lake is just across the street, and espresso is just up the street.
The guesthouse is a large historic building with a country home feeling. The 3 units are bright, with views and private baths. We have a king room, a queen room, and a suite with a queen room and a room with 2 double beds ($150). Ask about availability even if the calendar is full. We have 3 units.
New Denver is a village of 500 people, so you can see the whole thing on foot. Enjoy the historic buildings and small village atmosphere, or venture further in almost any direction and find trails along the creek and lake. The Friday Market is a lot of fun from May to September.
  • Awesome place in a great little town walkable to the beach and shops and trails. Highly recommended!

  • Thank you both very much for sharing your wonderful home/bed&breakfast. Location is the best in town, the house is a lovely character property and kept very well up to date and maintained. I honestly couldn't have asked for anything more. Wishing you both all the very best. Thanks again, Martin

  • My friends have returned from New Denver, staying at the Bustard's guesthouse. They commented that their place was quiet, right on Slocan Lake, and the hosts were congenial and helpful. It was welcoming and cozy.

    Diane2014-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We were met by Lori who gave us the key and information regarding our suite. We stayed in room 2--a lovely room with windows on two walls; the bathroom also had two large windows on two walls (corner suite). The bed linens were the perfect weight; the location very quiet and peaceful. If you're not just staying for a quick sleepover stop, then you will need a book or computer for entertainment (mine wasn't working), as there is nothing offered in the room. Also, there are no cooking facilities. There is only soap in the bathroom, no extra toiletries. The hospitality area outside Room 2 is handy for making a quick cup of tea or coffee; the main dining area provides coffee, cream or juice for morning wake up. I recommend this BnB for those just passing through New Denver for a day or so. It's very central to the town, but also very peaceful with gorgeous views of Slocan Lake, right across the street.

  • The guest house was a wonderful stay in the Nelson area. On a solo road trip, the cabin was a perfect stay for me, it was so quiet and peaceful. The cabin is so cute on the inside and it was a treat to wake up with a forest view. Thank you so much for being a wonderful host Yvonne!

Located on the shores of beautiful Slocan Lake in the quaint village of New Denver, BC. High-end timber frame house; very privat, quiet and very peaceful. Two en-suite bedrooms, ideal for 2-5 guests. Off-season rates. You won't want to leave!
  • Staying at Jörg and Ulli's cabin was very quiet and relaxing. We would love to return in the summer to enjoy this beautiful place in the sunshine and take advantage of the kayaks.

  • This truly is a Beautiful lakefront cottage. We came up for a relaxing weekend in the nearby hot springs and being able to come back and enjoy the cottage only added to our relaxation. It's beautifully done on the inside and has all of the essentials for a stay away from home. Joerg and Ulli were wonderful hosts who greeted us upon arrival to show us around. There was a power outage when we arrived and they had candles lit for us and flashlights for us to use. They also brought over some fresh organic milk for our coffee. We really appreciated that they cared about small details such as these. For future guests make sure you use the correct address. When we got directions from Air bnb it took us to a different town with the same road name; about a 45min detour. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would love to return again in he future!

  • We stayed at The Cottage for the Easter Weekend and had a wonderful time touring the hot springs and enjoying the breathtaking beauty of the Kootenays. The cottage is stunning with incredible attention to detail. We were very comfortable, and loved cooking in the well-equipped kitchen and soaking in the tub after a long, hard day of hot springing! :) We would recommend staying there to family and friends and hope to be back some day ourselves.

  • This is a gorgeous cottage with an incredible view of the lake. Very comfortable bed, lovely tub, with everything you need to feel right at home. Joerg and Ulli are lovely hosts! Very sweet and happy to help with anything you may need. New Denver is a neat little town too- we loved the apple tree restaurant and heading to nearby hot springs! We will be back!

    Julian2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • A minute walk from Slocan Lake, this is a great place you can canoe or kayak from or go for a long walk along the lakeshore. It's also a short walk up the street into New Denver. Ulli was a tremendous host, and really made us feel welcome. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, and even welcomed us with cookies, coffee, and freshly cut lilacs. The cottage is incredibly well designed and tastefully decorated, and set in the midst of a beautiful garden. Our five days there was truly enjoyable.

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families with kids, and furry friends (pets). There is a steep staircase going to the upstairs bedroom that could be hazardous to toddlers and young children.
3 bedroom spacious neat, rustic-looking cabin with full`working kitchen and one bathroom. in a private setting in the forest. a two minute drive or 15 minute walk takes you to a beach at the bottom of the street, where 2 kayaks or a canoe await you to explore the many beaches on pristine Slocan Lake. Also backing on to a vast area of the lake is Valhalla Provincial Park, Galena trail borders the property. A nature lover's paradise. Only 10 minutes from New Denver and one hour and 20 minutes from Nelson. Hot springs are not too far away....
  • The host canceled this reservation 40 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • Very adequate, good location, our corner cabin was very shaded and protected from the heat. Trevor was a very accommodating host.

  • The property was conveniently located but not particularly attractive. The unit itself was very basic, generally clean, but looked worn and in need of maintenance, especially in the shower area where there was water damage.

    Glynis2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cabins were very basic but filled our need satisfactorily. Trevor was available for questions but otherwise didn't bother us. The area is beautiful

    Deb2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Trevor was very friendly and welcoming. The check-in process was clear and easy. The cabin is great value for your money, its well-kept, tidy, spacious and has lots of windows. There is a nice grassy yard for kids to play in. The area is extremely quiet and peaceful and a 5 min walk from the beach/lake. We would recommend and stay again.

This quaint cabin is nestled between two very old barns built over 100 years ago in a rustic setting. The cabin has two rooms with high wooden open beam ceilings which makes the cabin feel larger then it is. The kitchette, has a toaster oven, electric tea pot, coffee bodum, blender and small refrigerator; convenient for the preparation of simple foods and beverages. The bedroom has a very comfortable queen size bed and goes out to the small fenced backyard with a small deck and sitting area.
Our little cabin is close to many wonderful activities and amenities - City of Nelson 20 minute drive along the beautiful lake, approximately 30 minutes to Ainsworth Hot springs, 12 minutes to Kokanee National Park and the Zip line, 20 minutes to the longest distance, free of cost ferry in the world, 45 minutes to Kaslo, the biggest smallest city on the lake and about 40 minute to the Whitewater Ski Resort turnout. During the late spring and summer we have a canoe and two kayaks which may be borrowed if you have a way to get them to the lake. You must also have a whistle with you while on the lake, the water is very cold! This quaint, 300 square foot cabin is nestle between two very old barns built over 100 years ago in a rustic setting. The space is sweet, quiet and relaxing. The cabin has two rooms with high wooden open beam ceilings, a small room with an armoire and little bathroom. The natural unpainted wood for the interior was carefully salvaged from the previous owner's sister’s heritage barn; one can easily see this cabin was built with love. Passing through the front door, you enter the kitchen and sitting room, bright and pleasant, with two big skylights and a large and small window, a cheery room. The kitchenette, has a toaster/convection oven, electric tea pot, coffee bodum, blender and small refrigerator; convenient for the preparation of simple foods and beverages. The kitchenette and sitting area also has a stereo system with a CD player. In the bedroom you will find a comfortable queen size bed, a cabinet and a sink to freshen up and a armorer to hang and place your clothes. The small bathroom has a shower, there is a high end Separett compostable toilet which is odorless and emptied after each guest leaves. Through the backdoor is a small deck and sitting area, another beautiful view of the mountains, and the sound of gentle water falling into the fish pond. Washer is available upon request, it is in the main house. We are dog friendly and have provided a small fenced area in the back sitting area. We have dogs and cats of our own and Carola is often available for dog sitting.
Heddle Road is quiet and on a sunny bench surrounded by mountains. The cabin is next to an open field which is next to an organic farm with some chickens. The neighbours and dogs living on Heddle Road are very friendly and we are close to 6 mile beach where many of the locals like to go and sit in the sun and enjoy the lake!
  • This lovely little cabin was the perfect distance from Nelson and Ainsworth hot spring! We had car troubles on our way to stay with them and they were extremely accommodating! They were especially great with our dogs!

  • The location is quiet and lovely. The place itself is lovely with a small kitchenette equipped with a toaster oven, small fridge, kettle, and crockery. There is no microwave, but we didn't need one. The WIFI works great. The bed is comfortable. The shower has lots of pressure. The compost toilet did smell on the second day but the smell was contained to the bathroom. The little yard is great for the dogs and the view is nice. The hostess' are the best. They met us as we arrived, showed us around, were available to chat about the are and even let my dogs play in their large fenced off yard with their dogs, who is friendly. Highly recommended stay!

  • My husband & I had a fantastic stay at Carola & Skip's place! They offer exactly what they advertise: A beautiful and airy cabin (and very bright!), a convenient kitchenette, and a super comfy bed! We had everything we needed and communication was easy. They warmly welcomed our dogs too which we so greatly appreciated!!! The cabin is close to everything while still being a quiet sanctuary. Without a doubt we would choose to stay here again!

    Julia2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Carola and Skip's place is exactly as pictured. Carola did a great job alleviating my concerns about traveling during all the fires and was very communicative. They have created a beautiful little space - clean and welcoming with many homey touches. My kids and I had a wonderful little vacation in Nelson and were so happy to relax in the evening in the cabin. Will definitely stay again in the future!

  • The cozy Cabin at Six Mile is a Little Piece of Heaven, it is tucked away in a lovely and quiet location, surrounded by beautiful views. Carola and Skip are amazing people, so friendly and kind. We brought our pup with us and he thought this holiday was for him! He loved every minute of it as did we. We do not normally rebook at the same place, we will be returning to stay here again, we just enjoyed our stay so very Much! Terry and Elizabeth

Warm sunny house with garden on the edge of the woods 15 minutes to Nelson. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, open living space, fully equipped kitchen, quiet neighbourhood. Third bedroom has single bed.
Our house is in a strata community with easy access and friendly neighbours . Our deck and patio invite you outdoors where deer wander by and a variety of birds visit our feeders.
Our neighbourhood is a former orchard on a bench overlooking the West Arm of Kootenay Lake. Nelson is visible in the distance. There is a public beach close by and a beautiful provincial a few miles east.
  • Such a beautiful home in a lovely community. While we didn't get to meet Richard in person, we felt extremely cared for. He went the extra mile to ensure we really enjoyed his home. The house is an amazing retreat, perfectly situated for tranquility and nature, but close enough to town. Can't say enough about Richard as a host and his spectacular accommodation.

This is a room in a 4 bedroom house and access to a forested 6 acre property. The house may be shared with up to 3 other people. The property is being developed as a campground and there may be other campers on the property. There is a friendly dog in a fenced yard. Happy to provide advice and guidance on things to do.
The bedroom is on the second floor. There is 1 queen sized bed and a double futon. The drinking water is excellent. The back deck is great for relaxing in a hammock with a view.
The neighborhood is off highway and very quiet 95% of the time. This is a quiet forested area. Recommended activities include floating down the river, canoeing the lake, hiking in the Valhallas or visiting Nelson. We are surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers. This valley has a very interesting history and culture, with many outdoor activities and events. Nelson, Castlegar and Slocan Lake are all a half hour drive away. • We had a lovely time at Colleen's Ivory Thistle Cottage in Nelson. The cottage was much more adorable than the pictures show. It was spotless and we felt right at home within an hour of being there. Everything that we needed was in the cottage, we didn't want for anything. It is located out of town in a peaceful area so was nice and quiet. A five minute drive to the beach with walking/biking trails just down the driveway. The front lawn/patio area was cool and breezy as we were there in very hot weather - so it was refreshing to play croquette and chill out in the shade of the trees. Colleen was great in giving us our space and privacy which was kind. There was nothing wrong with this vacation spot. Love love loved it! Karen and Steve Evans

  • Colleen -- Just returned to California the other night! Again, staying at your cottage was one of the most enchanting and memorable highlights of our road trip this time. We were saying how you are like Tinkerbell and your cottage is so fantastical in nature. Thanks so much for the all the tips of things to do in beautiful Nelson. We enjoyed dinner ideas on Baker Street and hikes in Kokanee Creek Provincial Park. The salmon spawn was amazing. We hope we can keep in touch and look forward to exploring more of Nelson and the Kootenays again in the future :) Warm Regards, Fanny & Kevin

  • We loved our stay at the Ivory Thistle Cottage. It is beautifully decorated inside & the kitchen has everything you need if you decide to make meals there. It's a peaceful location in the woods, not far from Nelson & only a couple of minutes to the lake if you want to swim. Colleen was very responsive & helpful, plus left a couple of treats to welcome us. Highly recommended!

  • We rented out this amazing and beautiful cottage for our wedding… It was a wonderful and enchanting experience. Recommend this spot to anyone who needs to get away to somewhere special. The ambience this cottage provided was magical.

    Jordan2015-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Ivory Thistle was a wonderful location, ideal to relax a few days in the middle of a demanding road trip through Canada. During our stay, it happened to rain a lot. No problem, even when it rains, the view when sitting on the porch is nice. Moverover, the kitchen equipment is outstanding (never had better pans and knives in a accommodation rental - so all culinary interested travellers: set this cottage on your short list)- and the cosy atmosphere of the living room. In all, one really notices the love Colleen has put into this place. Contact with Colleen during stay happened mostly by texting. Face to Face contact was very pleasant, she is a wonderful host. During the our trip, we stayed at six different commercial accomodations (next to some family visits). This one was our best experience and by far the best value for money. Please note, that, with the exception of the city of Nelson, this accomodation is quite remote from other sights. However, this cottage combined with the Highway 3A drive along the east shore of Kootenay lake, is worth the detour alone in a West Canada trip

    Joost2014-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Ivory Thistle Cottage. The cottage is fully equipped and truly feels like a home away from home. Colleen thinks of every last detail and was always quick to respond to any questions we had. We'll for sure be back!

    Stephanie2014-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • To be honest, my initial thought was to write a horrible review in order to make sure that this cottage was available for our next trip. Absolutely incredible house and hospitality. Private and very cozy. As someone said in another review - the photos really don't do it justice. My favorite Airbnb so far by a wide margin.

    Paul2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed the Ivory Thistle Cottage. Colleen has done a fantastic job of furnishing and decorating this adorable house. My wife, brother, sister-in-law and I stayed for two nights on the BC Family Day long weekend with the intention of skiing Whitewater. Our trip coincided with the tail-end of a weeks-long dry spell in BC, so the skiing was not fantastic. As a result, we spent a lot of time cooking and hanging out in the cottage. What a treat! We lit a fire each morning with the plentiful kindling and wood supply, and again in the evening. We cooked two breakfasts and two dinners in the kitchen, which included all the necessary tools. A nice big reading chair near the fire is one thing that would have improved my lazy weekend experience. The sitting nook gets a little uncomfortable after your third cup of coffee! And the bed in the smaller bedroom, charming as it is, is shorter than six feet forcing medium to tall folks to an angle. It didn't bother me, but it might others. But really this place is all about the little details. My wife is an apparel designer and took photos for inspiration. It has a real Provence feel to it. Rustic hay-bail walls, heritage windows and doors, heated slate tiles and natural wood floor boards milled from a tree in the (URL HIDDEN) just oozing with charm, but not in a way that sacrifices comfort or liveability. And then there's Colleen. She lives in a smaller house near the cottage on the same property and is very welcoming and friendly without crowding your space. She said all we had to do was yell if we needed anything, but we didn't. There was a bag of locally roasted coffee beans and a welcome note on the table when we arrived. We bumped into each other a few times coming and going but never felt..supervised, so to speak... She offered advice and was an all around pleasure to deal with. When we stayed Colleen was still working on completing the top floor of the cottage. When it's done, I plan to return to show others this gem in the Kootenays.

  • The Snow Hillhouse was exactly what our group was looking for for our trip to Nelson. Paula and David were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout the entire process and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The check in process was extremely easy and all details were communicated ahead of time making things very simple for us after a long drive up from the city. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed including a well stocked kitchen, downstairs room for snowy gear and a separate sauna building! We stayed for 6 nights and could have easily stayed longer. I would recommend the Snow Hillhouse to everyone without hesitation. Thank you Paula and David for a truly fantastic stay. We will be back :)

  • Very beautiful home in great location. There is another home that shares the drive way ( we couldn't tell this from the photos... but tho two homes are basically on top of one another), something to keep in my if you are renting out either of the full house. Host was very kind. However, there was a little too much communication from the host. We thought we were renting out an entire house for the weekend, not a bed and breakfast where the owner would always be stopping by to check in.

We arrived, in the dark, in a heavy snowfall, driveway and stairs were shovelled clean just before our arrival, lights on, easy entrance via lockbox. Host Rhianna couldn't have been more willing to accommodate our every need. I was surprised to find a completely equipped kitchen. A huge and private living space. Gorgeous walks and snowshoeing from the front door, view of the lake through the trees from the living area. Easy access to town. A perfect, relaxing, quiet holiday. WOW!

  • This place was awesome for our family ski trip to Nelson. It was great for skiing all day and then relaxing and playing in the evening. House was very clean (all new) and organized. It was absolutely seamless to work with Rhiannon. We even added a night at the last minute and she was awesome! Location was 10 mins to Nelson and city amenities. We would def stay here again!

  • We had a perfect stay at Rhiannons place, communication was excellent. We had a warm welcome!

  • Cedar Hall is amazing. We were welcomed with freshly baked (still warm!) bread. Everything was fabulous.

    Lisa2017-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Cedar Hall was a great experience; the building is beautifully furnished and well put together, with the convenience of a washer and dryer and a full kitchen. The stay was made extremely pleasant by the generosity and welcoming personality of Rhiannon and her family. During the stay, we were helped with everything in a very kind manner- I would definitely come back here and recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay that is comfortable, clean, well-equipped and has a beautiful view.

Come enjoy all the amenities and convenience we have to offer, including sauna, wifi, cable, chromecast, gourmet kitchen, and more! We are located just 15 minutes from downtown Nelson, and 35 minutes from Ainsworth Hot Springs, on Nelson's scenic North Shore.
The Willow Room is one of two bedrooms downstairs. These two rooms share a full bathroom, and there is another smaller bathroom conveniently located at the main entrance should the need arise. The Willow room can be accessed by a downstairs entrance, or through the main door. It has big windows, an electric fireplace, and a super comfy queen-sized bed.
The Hillhouse is located on a forested slope overlooking Kootenay Lake. Lots in this area are quite large and you will enjoy the comfort and privacy of a winter cabin with all the comforts of a well-appointed house.
  • We had a wonderful time at Paula's place! Paula is very kind and helpful and the house is beautiful with lots of plants and natural light, a very well-equipped kitchen and a very comfy bedroom with lots of closet space. The sauna was more than we could have wished for. Perfect after a day in the outdoors. We wished we could have stayed longer! Warmly recommended :)

    Cloë2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • We are thrilled that we chose Hillhouse for our vacation! We were looking for a place to actually relax, somewhere that would create space for peace and we absolutely found it, not only in Nelson the town, but staying at Paula's. She is warm, generous and inviting, and is a good communicator. The house is on an amazing property approx 10mins outside the town, giving you a headstart to the hot springs if you desire. The private rooms are clean, the beds are very comfy, and the common spaces feature great views of the garden and Kootenay Lake. The sauna is rustic and, once going, was a lovely way to relax. Overall we would highly recommend staying here: you won't regret it!

  • Paula and David are amazing hosts with whom I had one of my best airbnb experience so far! Their house is placed some minutes out of town in the beautiful Canadian nature. If you have a car I'd really recommend to stay at Paula's because her house offers all you need for a comfortable stay and even more - she's such a nice host! David picked us up downtown because we had no car (with some preparations her house is also accessible by bus!) & Paula shared her delicious tea with us. Even though it was kinda tricky to walk up the hill every day, we're happy that we found that lovely piece via airbnb! All I can say is that our stay was very easy-going, cozy and we got a personal view into the Canadian way of life for sure. Thank you Paula and David for a wonderful week in Nelson!

Our 320 sq.ft. Mandala Homes Studio Guesthouse is a 13-minute scenic drive along the lake to the town of Nelson. We are at the end of a quiet road, in a peaceful meadow surrounded by beautiful forest. You will LOVE how clean and private this space is. You will marvel at the designer details, the unique shape, the extraordinary light that streams through the skylight, and the comfy bed where you can lie and watch the clouds! Our place is good for nature enthusiasts: solos and friendly couples.
We have provided the Mandala Home Studio Guesthouse with everything that we like to find when we travel and stay at AirBnBs: A very clean space, a high-quality bed made with bamboo sheets and with a choice of different sizes of pillows; a kitchenette with blender, coffee grinder, bodum, toaster, barbeque, a corkscrew, good knives and matching plates, a nice smelling place that is cleaned with essential oils and bedding washed with scent free organic soap. The finishes are all new and of high quality; We used non-VOC paint, stone tile and cork floors. Our place is situated in an ideal location, there are hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails on the mountain which is adjacent to the property. Literally, you can strap on your skis and go from the guesthouse door! Climb "Doug's Trail" or "Millies Path" up to a spectacular view of Kootenay Lake and the lights of Nelson. Ride your bike across the upper trail to the roar of Duhamel Creek. Attend a yoga class at OM Yoga Studio, a few minutes walk down the road. You are mere minutes from 6 Mile Beach, Hellman Canoes (kayak, canoe, and SUP rentals), Duhamel store, Kokanee Provincial Park and Kokanee Mountain Zipline. Just up the road is Balfour - the world's longest free ferry ride, Ainsworth Hot Springs, Cody Caves, Fletcher Falls and the wonderful village of Kaslo to explore. We are only 30 kilometers to the world class skiing of Whitewater Ski Resort. And, most importantly- you have the opportunity to experience the magic of a cozy, beautiful round Mandala Home! Please note that our place is not suitable for more than 2 people (small space/one bed). We have a strict NO DOG policy. Thank you :)
This is a very friendly and quiet neighborhood. You can sometimes purchase organic eggs and fresh, in-season vegetables from a small fridge (cash in the yogurt container) on the side of Heddle Road. Pull over when you see the sign "Organic Eggs For Sale!" or "Fresh Salad Greens!" You'll see people walking their dogs, kids playing and horseback riders enjoying our peaceful community. As we mentioned in the house rules, please drive slowly in this special neighbourhood, thank you!
  • The mandala studio home was the perfect oasis to accompany our trip to the Ainsworth Hot Springs. After spending an afternoon in the soothing waters, returning to the peaceful, inviting mandala home was very comforting. The little house had everything we needed and more-- if I had known the weather was going to be so nice, we would have planned to grill on the little deck for our meals! The location was about 10 minutes drive outside of Nelson-- so not within walking distance-- but the scenery, wildlife, and solitude were well worth the driving time. Plus, it's right on the way to the Ainsworth Hot Springs and the Kokanee Glacier Park for hiking! I would highly recommend staying at Rachel & Lars' mandala home for a few nights if you're looking for a peaceful, calming, centering place to stay.

  • We loved this unique little spot. The house is beautiful and very clean. The bed and furniture was comfortable and you had all the necessities that you needed. Being able to see the stars at night from your bed was an added bonus. Lars and Rachel were easy to communicate with and available as needed. We would definitely book in here again or recommend it to others.

    Stacey2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel & Lars are kind and gracious hosts and their Mandella home is absolutely incredible. Everything has a place and there was still plenty of room for our two very large suitcases and assorted other gear. Nelson is a lovely city and this venue made an ideal base to explore the town, the lake and the mountains. We would book again in an instant.

    Jason2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend this place to EVERYONE. Absolutely beautiful, quiet neighbourhood. The place had everything we needed, it was such a cool little building too. Would very much stay here again. Thanks for having us :)

  • This is a gem located just outside Nelson. The round home feels really peaceful. They have stocked all the essentials items to cook a meal and even provided some niceties such as coffee beans (plus grinder) and peppermint tea! The home is nestled against the mountains and in a very quiet neighbourhood.

This is definitely glam ping, with unlimited on demand hot water, a beautiful new kitchen, and a super cosy bed this beautifully renovated Airstream is tucked away by a year round stream and is the perfect natural setting for a relaxing getaway. A scenic 10 minute drive from Nelson, five minute walk to two beautiful beaches and a small corner store that sells wine and beer. The hot water is an on-demand system so you will never run out. Very quiet and private, a completely unique experience.
  • Awesome airstream, beautiful setting. Memorable place to stay

  • Janet was super hospitable and made herself very easy to contact. It is a beautifully restored airstream in a lovely and tranquil location

    Shelby2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Silver Girl is a very special place. We have stayed in a LOT of AirBnb's and this one is completely unique. What a gem! Janet has taken a funky old Air-Stream and totally re-fit it with groovy modern and eclectic designs inside. It's totally private and cozy. Had a fantastic sleep. We sat out on the deck surrounded by trees, right beside a raging stream, and just listened to the water rushing by. Feels like you're completely surrounded by nature. Very close to Nelson, maybe 10 mins at most. Janet is great to communicate with and was there to give us a few tips on what to do during our short visit. Wish we could have stayed longer. 10/10!

    Tara2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The airstream is located in a beautiful nook on Janet's property overlooking a stream! You have privacy along with a wonderfully renovated place to repose! It's just outside of town and not much further from a hotspring! Janet is wonderfully accommodating and made us feel secure and welcome!
