Homes & Vacation Rentals in Skamokawa

Skamokawa Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Skamokawa

Our vacation rental apartment is next door to, but separate from our two bedroom Twin Gables Inn on Skamokawa Creek. Ideal for two, but can sleep four. The apartment does not front on the creek, but it is just 30 feet from the back door to the water's edge. Dog-friendly Skamokawa Vista Park, a wildlife refuge and our Fairgrounds are just a few minutes walk away. Astoria and Long Beach are an hour's drive.
One bedroom apartment with kitchenette. Can sleep two couples. Queen bed in bedroom. Queen sleeper in living room. Small bath with stand up shower. All linens and towels provided. Kitchenette has stove/oven, small refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker and microwave. Pots, pans and utensils provided. Fresh-ground coffee. Boat dock for up to 25'. On Skamokawa Creek, just off the lower Columbia River. Not suitable for sailboats due to low bridge. For canoes and kayaks, a small boat launch is just down the creek from us We are a short walk from a general store, the Redmen Hall Friends of Skamokawa Museum and bookshop, a wildlife refuge with several miles of flat, lightly used road for cycling, Skamokawa Vista Park, where you can walk one of the few beaches along the Columbia River. Breakfast, or our 'Simple Suppers' are available in next-door B&B for $15/pp for those who want a break from cooking. The apartment includes free wifi (CenturyLink 'up to' 10 mbps) and an internet ready TV with a Netflix subscription. A (mostly) outdoors cat does reside on the property but is not allowed in the guest rooms or in the apartment. Note on location. A major search engine maps us a few miles away from where we actually are. We are in central Skamokawa, a 5 minute walk from the general store and paddle center, and across the highway from Skamokawa Vista Park. We are located on the waterside of Skamokawa Creek, which empties into the Columbia River just downstream.
We are in the Skamokawa National Historic District. Houses here face Skamokawa Creek. The creek was once the town's 'Main Street', as much travel was done via water. There was no through-road to Skamokawa until the 1930s. The human population is small, outnumbered by a variety of wildlife. You may see deer in the yard, Eagles, Osprey and Red-Tailed Hawks are common sights, as are Herons and many migrating water-fowl. You may hear coyotes yipping in the evening. Beaver, Otter and Nutria are often seen in the local sloughs.
  • Great place to stay! Clean! Easy to communicate with the host.

  • Great place for a weekend getaway, exactly as advertised. The area is wonderful and very quiet. Great hosts and easy to find.

  • Kathleen made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Her response rate was extremely fast - I'd send her a message, and one minute later I'd get a response. I wish all hosts were that quick! The fact that she allows dogs played a large part in our choosing this unit, and we were really pleased about that. She left us a few cookies and a personalized note with instructions - very cute touch. The unit itself was good, although the beds were creaky and the pull-out couch was not very comfortable. The bathroom was small but efficient. Everything was very clean! We enjoyed a short walk from our place to the Columbia River and a nice park. We opted for the breakfast the next morning; portions were quite large and coffee flowed freely. We were able to have a good chat with Kathleen, and she was so friendly and seemed genuinely happy to host us and meet us.

    Kristen2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen was nice and welcoming. She was easy to get a hold of. There were delicious macaroons waiting for us when we got to the room. The description of place and neighborhood were accurate.

    Lena2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time in Skamokawa! If you are looking for some rest and relaxation this is a great place for that, it was much more rural than we had anticipated. We had a great time driving down highway 4 to Long Beach; there are a lot of quirky spots to check out, such as Duffy's Irish Pub! We were happy that we brought food with us. We made great meals both nights. In Ilwaco we bought steamer clams! Kathleen is a great host! If we were to visit again we would definitely bring our kayaks next time.

    Alison2014-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen was attentive and warm from the very first email exchange. Always prompt with responses. My sis and I were staying here to celebrate her birthday and it was just perfect! The apartment was very clean, plenty of room, especially for the price. The kitchen (although we only used the fridge) seemed to have everything needed to cook. Bed was very comfy. While there was no AC, there were fans and plenty of windows to open to cool the place out in the evening. Carlton the kitty was such a sweet heart! I loved that we could enjoy the BnB amenities while still having a more private apartment space. We signed up for dinner there and Kathleen made an AMAZING dinner for the two of us.. fresh salmon steaks, veggies, salad, homemade focaccia bread, and delicious homemade marionberry pie... not to mention a lovely bottle of white wine to pair it all with. Only $35/pp!! This food was better than many restaurant experiences I've had. The next morning breakfast was no exception. My sis and I loved sitting out on the back deck, overlooking the creek, having coffee in the morning and watching the birds. I would HIGHLY recommend staying with these folks! It's the hidden gem of the western Columbia River. Also, an easy walk to the grocery store or the park/beach across the street. I will definitely be back! and kayaking next time! Thank you Kathleen (and hubby) :-)

  • Beautiful apartment and a wonderful little town. I highly recommend a stay here!

    Shauna2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment at this B&B is a fine place if you need to stay in Skamokawa. It's a quiet, riparian outpost. As the host stated upon our arrival, people come here for solitude. No river view from apt. Host was kind and even brought coffee.

You don't have to be a soldier on leave to enjoy a restful retreat at Little Swiss Army House! Enjoy views of the river from the sunken jet bath above the Puget Island Bridge. Take a stroll from the house to Main St. 100% walk score. Main St. area features an espresso cafe, 3 restaurants, organic grocer, local brewery (RM38), scenic marina, historic museum, galleries and beach park. Or take a drive across Puget Island and ride the $5 ferry to OR. Or, do nothing but chillax. That's popular too!
This comfortable large ground floor room features a queen bed and a twin bed. There is a large custom bathroom which features double sinks, full shower and a sunken jetted tub with Columbia River views. A full closet is by the bathroom entry. A side table keeps a coffeemaker, toaster, microwave, mini fridge and breakfast snacks handy. Dishes and cutlery present. Bring your own food/bev but actual cooking not available at this time. Your apartment space is sectioned off with secured french doors. The exterior door opens onto a private deck in the garden area and trails to car parking.
Little Swiss Army House is close to WA SR4, the "ocean beach highway". It is on a cliff in Cathlamet WA, above the Puget Island Bridge, nestled in a quiet row of older homes. Very peaceful other than bird life and island residents coming and going over the old bridge. You can drive, walk, or bike 2 blocks to town where you'll find the marina, grocery, galleries, realtors, RM38 Brewery, pizza, mexican food, and all the county offices.
  • Debby is a wonderful host and extremely gracious. Would definitely stay here again!

    Kelsey2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful as usual. Debby is a great host.

    Kelsey2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect spot for a nice romantic couples' getaway. There is a ferry nearby that can take you in to Oregon. We spent the day in Astoria and the evening enjoying the river views and especially the huge bathtub. Debby was a perfect host!

    Aaron2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Debby was so informative, helpful, and genuine. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The place was perfect with a beautiful view, the bathroom especially was amazing!

    Donovan2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The view from your room is breathtaking, overlooking the Columbia river and Puget Island. Debby provided English muffins, fruit and coffee, tea and their additives, so you don't need to go out for breakfast. The room was spacious with a nice comfy queen bed, a day bed, little round table & chairs, as well as another table for more dining space. There was a microwave, small fridge, toaster & coffeemaker, along with dishes, glasses & cutlery. The bathroom had a shower, toilet & the large jetted tub with much needed epsom salts available for sore feet after hiking all day. There is a hair dryer and even hot rollers! The patio was a delight to eat on, watching the birds flying amid the wonderfully landscape yard. Lots of hummingbirds, doves, ravens, chickadees, sparrows & warblers flitting amongst the trees and plants. The grounds were kept immaculate. From the bathroom window, I watched Bald Eagles, Osprey and Turkey Vultures ride the thermals above the Columbia River, a birders' paradise! I loved Puget Island, a short ride over a bridge that is just a few minutes from Debby's house, great birding along the numerous sloughs. My other favorite place to explore was Julia Butler Hansen Wildlife Refuge. Make sure you go in both entrances, the one in Cathlamet on SR4, as well as the one further north on the same road in Skamokawa right before Vista Park.

    Connie2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We found the home very set in a lovely area with an amazing river view, the grounds around the home are attractive and welcoming, and Debby was very friendly and wanted to make sure we were taken care of, which we were! The view from the sunken tub is amazing, too!

    Escott2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful gem! Debby was a consummate host and the accommodations were superb. Watching a sunset from the tub while the Columbia River rolls on below is a wonderful way to end your day. The town is a slice of Americana and the RM38 nano-brewery is not to be missed. Thanks again, Debby!

    james2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Debby's place is spacious and absolutely beautiful. The view from the jacuzzi bathtub is insane. I had fun hanging out with Debby as well - she's a fun person to talk to and a very charming host.

No pets please. Stairs take you to a lovely 650 sq ft apartment in a rural setting. A private balcony overlooks the valley. Full kitchen or share our BBQ. Full bath with tub/shower, TV/DVD, queen bed. Very quiet and peaceful, a creek runs through the pasture.
We are 5 miles up the road from the mighty Columbia River. The apartment is self contained and next to our home. It is fully furnished and very clean and comfortable. The year round creek provides a soothing counterpoint to the quiet. Wildlife is often spotted in our pasture.
We are an hour west of Interstate 5, and an hour east of Astoria and Long Beach (Hy 101) in the verdant Willipa Hills . This is a small, rural county, very much unchanged by a hurried world. There is a kayak center in Skamokawa, Columbia River Kayaking, that offers wonderful guided tours and kayak rentals. Salmon, sturgeon and steelhead are as close as the river.
  • Amazing sanctuary - beautiful private accommodations and thoughtful hosts! We arrived Friday to nice snack of local crafted goat cheese, fruits and bread. The apartment is amazing handcrafted everything warm, open and inviting. My husband and I enjoyed our escape from the rat race with no cell or wifi we and we were able to enjoy the property./nature and each other. We saw great blue herons, heard coyotes one night and slept soundly to the backdrop of a nearby brook. We are already trying to figure out our next trip.

  • Loved every minute of my stay at the Crow's Nest. Theresa and Ed are kind, generous and welcoming hosts. I felt at home immediately. The house is as adorable (& clean!) as the pictures describe and the setting is beautiful and serene. It was exactly what I hoped for when I booked a quiet place in the country. I will be back again, for sure!

    Christina2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful secluded place. Theresa and Ed are amazingly talented. We totally enjoyed our stay and the apartment was perfect.

    Alice2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The crows nest is for anybody who wants to just get away from it all, the huddle and bustle of city life and modern technology. The location is tranquil and scenic for all you woodsy types yet still provides the comforts of a modern home

    Edgar2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very lovely and clean place to stay. The atmosphere and surrounding were very relaxing. Regrettably my stay was too short. Theresa was a wonderful host! Highly recommend the crow's nest to other travelers.

Our accessible second story 400 sq. foot apartment is ideal for a couple. Located at a small farm at the picturesque tip of Puget Island, with partial view of the Columbia River; covered porch. Dogs that behave around chickens are welcome. Small fridge, microwave, hot plate, toaster oven, outside grill/burner. Breakfast supplies in fridge when you arrive. Wi-Fi. Direct TV. DVD/VHS and a selection of movies. Tour farm's market gardens; relax! A ferry ride and 25 miles from Astoria, OR.
The island is a great place to bicycle and guests with kayaks can launch across the street. A continental breakfast will be in the fridge for your first morning. The space fits a couple the best. There is a queen bed in the bedroom and a convertible couch in the living room, with a $10 extra fee for its use. The apartment in on a second floor and there is an electric chair up the steps for those who need it.
Puget Island is a beautiful rural location in the middle of the Columbia River. All islands west of us are part of national refuges. There are boat launches on the island and in Cathlamet, used by many fishers. Nearby sloughs and the river itself are used by kayakers who can launch across from our house. We are bird watchers and the island is part of a yearly bird count each December when the area is full of wintering birds.
  • My husband and I had a wonderful time at Carol and George's home. The apartment was clean and nicely setup with all the essential amenities. Carol stocked the fridge with fresh eggs, yogurt, and scones. She pointed us to a lovely beach on the river just acroos the road. She was a great host and we look forward to coming back.

    Rishu2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • What an unexpected surprise...this place is really quite special and just what was needed! So beautiful, filled with veggies and chickens and wonderful people! You can even help out on the farm if you'd like (or not!). Carol and George were so gracious and welcoming. The apartment is quite pleasant and the porch is amazing - beautiful views of the garden and beyond. Calm, relaxing, a wonderful escape. The island itself is an absolute must see. I highly highly highly recommend this space!

    Tamara2014-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is comfortable, very clean, well-furnished (super comfy bed) and secluded. Amazing sunsets from the beach just across the street. The outside deck is a wonderful spot to enjoy a drink and soak in the sounds of the island...breeze and birds in the trees. This was a one-night stop for us on a boating adventure down the Columbia. We arrived by 15' boat on a neighbors dock in the evening (Carol was cool enough to arrange this moorage for us) and were off the dock early in the morning, so our stay was way too short. This is a special place which we hope to revisit soon.

    Ashley2014-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect spot for a one-night getaway from Portland with our new baby. Lovely setting, great hosts! Looking forward to returning.

    Megan2016-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a lovely time at Carol and George's home. The apartment looked exactly as pictured--quiet and comfortable with all the essential amenities. Carol stocked the fridge with fresh eggs, yogurt, and scones. She recommended fun activities in Cathlamet, including a farmer's market, a local brewery, and a pizza place, as well as some spots in Astoria. She also pointed us across the road to a lovely beach on the river, which our dog adored. We would highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a peaceful getaway in a breathtaking, less explored corner of the Pacific Northwest.

    Caitlin2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Carol's Puget Island farm apartment is charming. And the quiet on the island, profound! She was very welcoming and has thought of everything needed for a private, quiet retreat. I'd highly recommend it!

    Jennifer2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome little getaway!! Carol was so helpful in planning our stay!! Great place and we loved the wine and adorable breakfast

    Lindsey2015-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and George were really nice. I arrived later than I expected so I didn't meet Carol. I met George in their garden the next morning, and got to chat a bit about their amazing gardens. The space was perfect, and just as described. I wish I could have stayed longer!! Oh and the homemade plum wine was AMAZING!!

Nestled in front of a scenic hillside and across the walkable road from the beach access, relax in a natural sanctuary on the mighty Columbia River while seals bark on the beach below. Single bedroom home features queen four poster, full sofa bed, complete kitchen, laundry, and sunny deck. Coastal Bliss!
This little home was built in 2014 and lived in part time for only a year. It is ideal for couples looking for privacy or small families in search of a unique coastal vacation. Note: we have a wonderful access to the river for kayaks and canoes. The living room has a new pull-out bed and the bedroom has a roomy and comfortable new queen sized bed. We keep the kitchen stocked with basic seasonings, breakfast food items and provide full sized appliances so you can cook up meals or... you can order gourmet dinners and even picnic baskets to take on day trips. All retail and lodging taxes included in price. We do allow doggies, but please, no large breeds. the house is not large enough for bigger, more powerful dogs. (Dogs not allowed on bed or couch, or left alone in house) There is a $15 pet charge, paid at time of arrival. Your dog will love running on the beach (they all do!).
We live at the end of an eleven mile road that traces the north side of the Columbia River. We see an amazing array of coastal wildlife from seals and sea lions on our beach to deer in our yard. Eagles fly above as well as hawks, and occasionally osprey. Loons, ducks, geese and white Pelicans make this their nesting home. If that wasn't enough, we live within driving distance to some of the most treasured bird sanctuaries in the Northwest. Many state parks in both Washington and Oregon are a short drive away including Stevens Park, Cape Disappointment, and Fort Columbia. We can also recommend amazing restaurants along the coast including Norma's in Seaside and Fort George Brewery in Astoria. Finally, we have some of the most beautiful public beaches in the area less than an hour away (though our private beach is pretty special too).
  • Such a quiet, unique hidden gem of a place. The cottage was beautiful and very comfortable, Kathy was a lovely host, and the beach was a surreal, tucked away paradise :)

    Smriti2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy's place was just as described. Clean, quiet, well stocked kitchen with cooking supplies. Host was available and checked in to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. At low tide the river beach is worth spending some time on. This location is remote, but not unreasonably so. We ran day trips to both Washington and Oregon beaches and enjoyed the quite river front evenings. If you are looking to get away yet not rough it stay here!

    Bill2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • My children and I stayed at Kathy's for three nights and had a wonderful time. Both the space and the location are super versatile and special. Comfy beds, well-stocked kitchen, creature comforts like cable TV and wifi made exploring out the front and back does easy-with mountain trails, deer, views of the Columbia with its cargo ships, coastal elk, and a wonderful tidal river beach-perfect for playing pirates, drawing with driftwood sticks, or just a contemplative walk. The beginnings and ends of our days were spent relaxing with these activities, but Astoria and Cape Disappointment are close enough for easy and scenic midday trips. We did both! Kathy is an expert and approachable host-gave us great recommendations and put us at ease. Thanks again Kathy!

    Sarah2017-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views of the forest, beach, river and wildlife from a comfy cottage. Wish I could have stayed longer. Full kitchen, laundry and friendly hosts. Fire pit outside and gas fireplace inside. Allow time to drive the narrow and winding road during daylight.

    David2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay. The amenities were plentiful, the location quiet and secluded. Looking forward to returning in the future to explore the beach more!

    Rachelle2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place to stay over looking the Columbia River. Hosts were excellent, great recommendations and suggestions for activities. Would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful & stunning location!

    Rory2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was even better than described. Incredible location and hosts. Kathy ensured we had everything we needed. She provided food to make breakfast and we didn't need to buy/pack all the miscellaneous condiments that you need to make meals. Loved it. Excellent communication, directions and super easy check in. We felt at home within minutes. My oldest son was even able to catch the first salmon of the year with the help of Kathy, Fred and their friends. This was all around an amazing experience and can't wait to go back again.

    Reilly2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time with Kathy and Fred, they were very warm and welcoming! The place was nicer than advertised, the bed was very comfortable. The lovely hike up behind the home was a nice secret. and the walk to the beach was memorable. Exactly the getaway we were looking for, will definitely come back in the summer and stay longer!

    Pillar Rock Retreat

Our cabin is on a quiet country road, over looking the Columbia river, and Oregon. It is 45 min. from Long Beach or Astoria. Sit on the porch and watch river traffic, eagles and deer. Build a fire and play games or read. Valhalla cabin, is a true log cabin. It has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a view of the river, and a loft that kids love. There is fireplace. The front porch runs the length of the house and has a deep roof, so it can be enjoyed in any weather. Very private
$10 per person after the first 2 does NOT apply to guests 2 yrs. old and under. To be able to share my cabin and the beauty that surrounds it means a lot to me. You will need to bring your own firewood. Most of the places around the cabin are owned by cousins, and are vacation homes. The cabin is rustic, no WIFI and no cable TV. The kitchen is pretty complete. The beds are all new as are the sheets, towels, and kitchen flooring, and bedroom carpets. There are extra quilts and comforters as well as sleeping bags, if needed. There are a few old pieces that belonged to family members that have meaning for me and I enjoy seeing. I'm not sharing a space, I'm sharing part of my life. So please feel free to have a cozy fire, play some games, watch a movie, sit on the porch and enjoy the view. We provide pancake mix, syrup, jam, a variety of coffees and teas, quick breads, Swiss Miss, and Tang for breakfast. We also provide sheep milk soap, so good for your skin. Please take home any unused jam, breads and soap. We would also like your feed back, what you liked what you didn't like so please leave a review on airbnb. Fire wood for sale is provided by my yard man. If you need some, just let Judy know.
My cousin Is the closest neighbor. The other 3 homes are vacation homes. The area is very peaceful and beautiful. The view of the river is well worth bringing your camera. The deer come almost every day. We feed them sliced up apples or pears and slices of bread. It is a great place to bird watch. At different times of the year, there are seals in the river. You can see them and hear them barking. I like to sit on the porch with a cup of tea or glass of wine and watch the river. If the fog is heavy, you will hear the fog horns. A walk down the road will often bring you in contact with other neighbors out for a jog or walk. Stop to pick some black berries when in season, you can't beat the taste. Bring your bike and enjoy some great views as you ride the back roads. Or take them to Longbeach and ride the bike trail. Hunters Inn in Naselle is a favorite spot to eat. If you'd like dinner by the water, then The Duck Inn in Skamokawa or the Ship's Inn in Astoria.
  • What a wonderful cabin with a great view of the Columbia!

    Andrew2017-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot express how in love I am with this cabin. I am planning several trips back to this wonderful (URL HIDDEN) daughter was so jealous when I showed her pictures. I arrived and, admittedly forgot to call Judy beforehand, but she arrived very quickly. The cabin is wonderful. It overlooks the Columbia River.....having a seat on the deck allows for sea lion watching/ hearing and barge watching! The cabin itself was wonderful. Part of me wants to be selfish and keep it a secret, but that wouldn't be fair. I was treated to homemade bread and (URL HIDDEN) well as homemade soap. All were spectacular! They don't hide the fact that there is no cable/satellite. There is a great selection of VHS movies.....I felt like I did as an 80's kid and was overjoyed. I slept in the master bed and it was very comfortable. A couple years ago I found a pillow that literally changed how I slept......last night I realized that my bed was had the same pillows! I cannot say enough about this place. I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it.

  • Amazing views. Great place to unwind from it all. Superb host.

    ritesh2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We love this place! Rustic and scenic, so peaceful and serene. Val and Judy are great with communication and I've never left with questions unanswered. While there may not be beach access, we either head towards Long Beach for the day, check out the historic sites in the Astoria area or visit the public beach on Puget Island just outside of Cathlamet, about 20 miles before the turn off for Val's cabin. Don't pass this place up, if you need a quiet and peaceful stay, this is it :) Plenty of old VHS movies, board games and a front porch view perfect for early morning coffee/tea and a view of the stars you can't find in the city. We will be back for sure!

    Bethany2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was lovely. When we arrived the deer were right outside the house grazing. The cabin was very spacious and comfortable. There were tons of board games, a few toys, and a great movie collection. We got to see all types of birds, including hummingbirds. Books about wildlife were even provided. Valerie's breads and jam was delicious and the soap had charcoal and tree tea oil. We loved our stay!

    Rosario2016-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie's place is 5 stars all the way. Nature was everywhere and deer said goodbye on our way out. Spent the morning watching ships go by as my wife and I drank coffee. Coming back during the summer.

    Matthew2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn't help but just want to sit and stare at the view off the front porch of this cabin across the Columbia river. Though it's nestled near the trees there is a wonderful open view. The cabin itself was very comfortable and spacious. From the fully stocked kitchen and fireplace to the bedrooms and upstairs loft, it was a treat for adults and children alike. There is a large selection of movies and also board games and toys for little kids. The homemade jam and bread was great.I truly feel it was everything that we expected.

  • Valerie's cabin exceeded all expectations. I can't imagine a more relaxing place than her Valhalla spread. She's an amazing host, and the pictures really don't do it justice.

Come to Rog's Retreat on Puget Island to treat yourself to luxury! Or give a night or two as a gift to someone you love. Rog's Retreat guest cottage sits among our flower and vegetable gardens. The retreat sleeps four (two on the futon in the sitting room). It is equipped with hot plate, under counter refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and electric tea kettle. An outdoor barbecue with burner and fire pit enhance the experience! A basket of fruit, snacks, coffee and tea will get your started. Plus we have popcorn to pop and s'more makings at the ready. Rog's Retreat is ideal for a biking, kayaking or fishing trip or use as overflow lodging for your guests. Our island and surrounding waterways provide many miles of protected kayak paddling and 30 flat miles for bicycling. For more local kayaking information, go to http://www.columbiariverkayaking.com. While you're here you can stroll around the farm, check out the flower and vegetable gardens, gather the eggs and admire our garden, whatever suits your frame of mind! Our guest cottage is a non-smoking building with no TV reception (VCR and DVD provided). Reading and game playing are encouraged. Children are welcome as long as they remain in parental control. They will love to swing on the swing set, play horseshoes, and watch the chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys. They can also help gather eggs with the farmer! Dogs are welcome guests too! If you are spending one night or a week, you are certain to love this cozy home away from home.
Puget Island is a lovely, serene island in the Lower Columbia River, about 50 miles downstream from Portland, OR and about 25 miles upstream from Astoria, OR. Our closest 'big' town is Longview, WA. Cathlamet is a tiny town, located in tiny Wahkiakum County. The town has a really well stocked grocery store. We also have a craft brewery (open on the weekends) and a few very basic restaurants. Our claim to fame is we have no stoplights in our county! There is a bridge from Cathlamet to the island and a small ferry from the island to Oregon.
  • This place ( and the host and hostess) get a 4 star, A+ from me. It is a little off the beaten path, and well worth the trip. The house was perfect for myself and my two longtime pals. It was spotless and well stocked with everything you could need without being overdone or fussy. The two decks provide a wonderful place to perch in the morning and evening and the surrounding grounds are a haven for a plant loving gardener like myself. Diane and Rob greeted us personally and we enjoyed the homemade bread, granola bars, and jam as well as the thoughtful gift of butter and cream in the fridge. My only regret is that we only had one night to enjoy it.

  • This farm cottage and the farm was a wonderful get away. If you want a farm experience, then make this one of your stops along the way.

    Alice2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Diane is great. She is waiting for us outside to help us find the house. The house is quite and difficult to find. But Diane knows that and help us very kindly. I like the breakfast and the eggs. The room was so quite and lovely. Perfect for couples.

    Hongxiang2016-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Rog's Retreat was the perfect little get away for us. It is a very clean and tidy cabin with everything you need. It's nice and private with a really pretty garden/lawn. Diane was really helpful and nice, thank you!

  • We had a great Father's Day weekend at Rog's Retreat. It is a pretty spot, the accommodations were just right for our family. We enjoyed seeing bats, barn owls and great horned owls flying over the fields near the picnic pavilion and fire pit on our first night. We woke up with ducks and chickens saying hello. We kayaked Steamboat Slough on the lower Columbia, walked around some on Puget Island and enjoyed hanging out at the farm. Saturday evening we enjoyed their Farm Dinner (...highly recommend you opt for the dinner - it was four courses of fantastic!) Diane and Rob's musician friend came after her gig and we had a private concert of sorts! We couldn't replicate the great weekend. It was a true retreat, we came away rested and restored. It is a very special spot. Their guest books are filled with years of guests with similar notes about Rog's Retreat. Diane and Rob have been doing this for a while and have a gift for hospitality. Next time we will try to arrive earlier on a Friday to enjoy their farmers market, wood fired oven pizza and live music.

    Liling2013-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Diane and Rob had treats awaiting us at the house. Such a welcoming space with friendly hosts. House is small but well equipped and perfect for two. We enjoyed a morning stroll around the property before saying hello to the chickens. We definitely hope to return sometime and also check out the farmer's market they host on their property (Fri 3-6).

    Spencer2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first visit to Puget Island and although we arrived after dark we found the signs pointing us in the right direction to a well-lit rustic (on the outside) cabin in the woods and Homemade Multigrain Bread and Rosehip jelly on the counter for our arrival... WOW!! we recently baked our own bread for the first time, so that was a special treat! The grounds and the house are very beautiful and very well maintained. Puget Island is a very promising place for people interested in getting back to local agri-communities and homesteading, which was a pleasant surprise for us! We were there for only one night this time, but definitely intend to stay again and longer next time!

    Steve 2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cabin to stay at in the middle of the farm, in the middle of the island... Spotlessly clean, well insulated, good mattress and lovely reception from the hosts. Perfect stay.

  • Kathleen is an excellent host. She exudes a warm, engaging, and very friendly demeanor. Although we arrived later than expected (9:00 PM) she waited up for us, then gave us a nice tour of the home, common areas, and our private room. Kathleen offers an extra special touch: fresh brewed coffee delivered just outside your room an hour before breakfast. Kathleen then outdoes herself by providing a delicious, filling, and hearty breakfast. We would definitely stay again and really appreciated the quiet serene location.

  • Great getaway for us - a cozy room with all the necessities. The nearby town is very down home - folks at the Roadkill were friendly and the one meal they serve (gotta keep it simple!) for dinner really hit the spot! Kathleen's breakfast was amazing. A+

    Ben2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen was a lovely host and we enjoyed out stay immensely.

    NANCY2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice spot, but very close neighbors and it's important to know that the view past the Skamokawa Creek is not the most scenic. It is commercial and there is a moderately busy road there as well. I wish I had known because the other side of the highway is the Columbia River.

    Kris2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Twin Gables was everything we'd hoped for a quiet weekend away. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, very clean and welcoming. Kathleen even had some fresh shortbread cooling and waiting for us. The house is so charming with lots of antiques and a wonderful outside porch overlooking the river to enjoy the winter wildlife. Breakfast was delicious and perfectly portioned in a charming dining room overlooking the water - soft music, low lighting - the best way to start a day. And a sweet, well-behaved inn cat, Carlton, only added to the charm.

    Sheryl 2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen and Steve provided a warm and comfortable stay here; this is one of the best Airbnb experiences we have had! Kathleen was very accommodating to all of our needs, including dietary restrictions, helping us find a place to eat late at night, and having consideration for our schedule. She and Steve were lovely to chat and spend time with. Would highly recommend for a nice quiet getaway and great few nights' sleep.

    Alexandra2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen is so nice! We got to the bed and breakfast later at night and she waited for us to get there so she could show us around and made us feel very welcome. She made a lovely breakfast as well. Her bed and breakfast is adorable with lots of nice antiques to look at. There was even an area with coffee and tea for the guests and a small refrigerator to use. The dock outside is lovely and the area is quiet and peaceful.

    Julianna2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute and lovely bed and breakfast right next to the river. Great view of the river from the room and even better view from the back porch. Breakfast was delicious. Kathleen was friendly and nice. The shower was a little tight, I kept on bumping everywhere.

The Inn At Crippen Creek Farm offers a respite from the hectic rhythm of everyday life. Stroll our 15 acres, rest by the creek, enjoy the beauty of our farm, the garden, the orchard and the livestock. Your stay includes a full country breakfast. We also offer optional gourmet dinners and cooking classes. On weekends you can enjoy live music and craft beers in nearby Cathlamet at River Mile 38 Brewery.
The Inn At Crippen Creek Farm is a 15 acre organic farm nestled in a quiet, remote valley in the Willapa Hills. Our guests love the gourmet food, they are charmed by the animals but I think it is the quietness that speaks loudest to them. In a world that is increasingly addicted to noise and speed, silence becomes golden.
We love the quiet and lack of traffic. No sirens, no booming stereos. We can count on one hand the number of vehicles that we see while on a walk or bike ride. A morning walk is a real treat.
  • Wow, wow, WOW! What an amazing place to stay! My husband and I were looking for a nice weekend getaway before our baby arrives and we are so lucky The Inn at Crippen Creek Farm popped up in our search surrounding Long Beach. Kitty and Don are the ultimate hosts- we seriously felt right at home the second we pulled in. The house is immaculate and the food is delicious (the aroma of breakfasts and dinners always lingers and it is niiiiiice). Kitty and Don are funny, kind, and the type of people you could spend hours chatting with. The grounds of the Inn are wonderful for exploring (we wish we didn't wait to wander until our last morning and that we took more time at the inn to lounge outside). The room we stayed in (Palermo) was so very clean (the whole house was, honestly) and was stocked with necessities. At first I was thrown off by having no blinds/curtains on the windows, but being able to see the stars and trees out of the window while laying in bed made me realize how special it was. Just note: the other room is right next door and the bed backs up to the same wall. If you are a lighter sleeper and your neighbors are chatty and/or snore it could pose a problem for your snooze! The only regret we have on this stay is not joining them for dinner. If you have the opportunity: jump on it! Or see about a cooking class (also wish we had done that). If you can purchase any of their breads/cinnamon rolls, be sure to take advantage of that! Kitty and Don pour their heart into their fine-tuned crafts and we are so very lucky to have met them and to have stayed at Crippen Creek Farm. We hope to return again sometime!

    Lindsay2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • It was an amazing experience staying at Kitty&Don's farm! From the peaceful environment to the comfortable&clean room and the incredible delicious food Don made! There was another guest with her kids staying there the same time while we stayed , they even called ahead and reserved farm-experience for the kids(we got to watch the kids feed the pigs and picked up eggs. That was sooo cute), so it's also great for families. We payed extra for eating dinner there as well, totally worth it and definitely a better option than driving out 20mins to the tiny "downtown" of Skamokawa for some grocery shop food. Also Kitty and Don are really nice people to talk with, they really give you the feeling that you are just staying at a fd's house. We are definitely going back to stay next time~!

    Sisi2015-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • One of my best experiences on Airbnb. Kitty and Don are great hosts. The house is very clean and welcoming. The homemade breakfast surpasses many popular restaurants in the city. We are looking forward to visit again.

  • Crippen Creek farm is unequivocally stellar! Exceptional in every way. Greeted at the door, help carrying our bags, warm tea, key lime bars, a flawlessly clean room, great breakfast and great conversation! My bride and I were heading out to the coast and stopped here on the way - we will definitely do so again! A perfect 10 as far as a bed and breakfast goes! Thanks so much for a great time Don and Kitty!

    Ryan2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We stupidly booked the wrong date so weren't able to join Kitty and Don as we'd hoped, but though we probably put them to much trouble and inconvenience, they couldn't have been more understanding and sympathetic. We've subsequently rebooked and are excited about finally getting to stay with them!

    Ian2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful home and amazing guests! I would highly recommend this place to anyone. All be it a bit in the middle of no where, an amazing place to "getaway" and be with the stars, farm animals and truly wonderful hosts. We felt so welcomed at Crippen Creek and the Food was AMAZING!!! they were so considerate about our health concerns and accommodated us... we never felt like an inconvenience.

    Tricia2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • A top notch place for good company, wonderful food, extraordinary conversation, and respite from a busy life. Getting to know their farm animals was also great fun. They took us in on short notice and didn't miss a beat. They are the best.

Within two miles of the Cathlamet city center, with the Tsuga Gallery and River Mile 38 Brewery (live music every Sat. 5-8 pm). The Puget Island Farmers Market every Friday from 3-6 pm, with live music. Some public beaches on the island and nearby is the JBH White-tailed Deer Refuge. The house is right on the water. Several nearby launches that we own for paddling. Perfect for individuals, families with well-behaved kids (remember we're right next to a tidal-influenced body of water), and pets.
This beautiful waterfront retreat is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. This two-story charming home offers great views of the water on the wrap-around porch and quiet pastoral views out front. Songbirds are around year-round feeding on the berries and nesting in trees on the property. We operate a creamery about a quarter mile from the house and stock the fridge with fresh butter, cream, and milk as well as fresh-baked breakfast goods for your breakfast.
  • Our host made checking in easy and the home was clean, comfortable and well appointed.

  • This place is too cute and just right to pass up! We loved the area too! We brought our boat, the kids and the dog. All had a great time! Yes, even the boat had fun! Easy access to the Columbia River, house is well appointed with necessary items and very clean. We enjoyed the back porch, berries in the yard, local birds and such. It's on the street, but there are virtually no cars going by. The cottage has a great layout. We were happy!

  • We had a wonderful time at this beautiful little house! Melissa was so helpful with my many questions prior to booking. The house was exactly what it seemed to be and worked perfectly for our night away from Portland for my husband's birthday. Our boys loved watching all of the birds and the tide change right off the deck. This was our first time on Puget Island and we will absolutely be back again some day. It's an amazing little place. Our only regret is that we didn't have longer to stay!

    Tabitha2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • There are amazing windows on all sides of the home looking out onto the slough. The view is amazing. The house has just been remodeled and is much nicer than conveyed by the photos. We arrived to a refrigerator full of dairy products and apples from Mrs. Melissa's dairy. She went out of her way to make our stay wonderful. We can't wait until our next visit.

    Holly2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Mrs. Melissa was very cooperative and met us at the house to make sure everything was there that we needed (including bringing the larger table for our Thanksgiving feast).

  • We had such a relaxing time at Melissa's beautiful water side retreat! The home was beautifully decorated and well appointed with all the amenities. The area was so quiet with local wildlife, waterfowl, deer right out our door! The fresh eggs, milk, cream and butter from the local dairy were an added treat! Melissa responded quickly to our questions and no real issues arose during our stay. The house is a great home base for exploring the lower Columbia River area.

  • I stayed here with the "On the Rocks" a cappella group from the University of Oregon. The house was as described and even better than expected!! Beautiful scenery. Plenty of sleeping space. We even had a large event space to practice our music! Perfection.

  • We all had a great time at our annual family gathering. The barn and the farm were everything we expected. From walking around the farm, visiting the goats, coffee on the dock, it was a perfect extended weekend. We truly appreciated the extended hospitality for our additional family member Julie provided. Early morning coffee in the Adirondacks was especially enjoyable... whether on the deck or on the dock, the crisp air and a warm cup of coffee was just the relaxation we needed.

    Theresa2016-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is exactly as described. Very clean, well organized, lots of space. We even saw some cattle. Beth was a great host and gave us the right information about nearby towns with restaurants which was very helpful for our group of nine.

    Siddarth2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a unique and beautiful place! Hosted a group of friends here for my birthday weekend and had an amazing time! If you live in Portland, the location is really special, only 1.5 hrs drive, but feels like you're far away from the city. The house is not only as it looks in pictures, but even more spacious and very attractive, filled with thoughtful rustic touches. The kitchen is huge and well-equipped and is a wonderful space for entertaining. We made both dinner and breakfast there and the dinner table fits 8 or 9 easily. There are a ton of beds, including really cute pull out sofas and daybeds and well-appointed bathrooms (they even supply both bath towels and beach towels for the dock). The private dock has enough kayaks and SUPs for at least 8 people to be on the water at a time and the dock is on a braid of the river so the current is lazy enough to make for easy paddling. We hung out on the boats a lot - such fun! Saw lots of birds including an eagle. The house is on a working cattle ranch, so we had a chance to see horses and also a flock of geese. The fire pit with wood provided was lovely on a full moon. We spent several hours by the fire. Finally, the 9:44 pm attached event space (which we didn't need, but was available for our use) added to the fun. We had a mini dance party and took turns on the "throne" (double seat for bride and groom during weddings). Finally, our host Julie was exceedingly gracious, helpful, and accommodating as well as the woman that showed us around when we arrived. What a wonderful time, I'm already looking forward to coming back here!

  • This is an amazing beautiful and secluded place! So be prepared for a bit of a drive off the beaten path. It is about an hour from Astoria. Once you arrive, however, the only sound you hear is the wind in the trees and the sound of the waves below. We had two deer with a fawn come up and graze on the lawn. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. There were several unexpected steps in the bathroom, so we had to be careful not to trip and make sure a light was on. The smell of the sulfur in the water is a little off-putting if you're not used to it, but it is not harmful, so I ignored it as much as possible.

    Melody2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfy and nice with a great view. Make sure to bring your own drinking water, because the tap water is highly mineralized and quite smelly. I had some trouble getting in the gate, and Carl was very responsive in helping me out. I appreciated his responsiveness and that there was a backup contact person in case he was unavailable.

  • The house is in a forest, have to access by car, there are beautiful coastline nearby. The house is very spacious and clean, and with a lot good electronic instruments like coffee machine and toasters. Some surprises: we saw several wild deers just out of the house in the morning; )

    Xiao2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Listing description is accurate, very quiet, lovely little home in the woods. Barely can tell that there are neighbors from the house, kitchen is a nice size, overall a lovely place to stay! There are a number of "Daddy Long Legs" in the house, not a bother for me, but some people may find this uncomfortable. Bring your own water!! We brought plenty, but just to add to the warning (that is clearly stated on the ad) the water is very strongly sulfurous, and leaves a somewhat slimy feeling on the skin. Nothing wrong with this, it is very typical of a house in that situation. But this water can be very hard to drink for some people, and hydration is very important!

  • We arrived late at night, which I do not recommend due to the road, and Linda and Brian were waiting for us. They are great host, the room was very comfy and the bed is excellent. The breakfast was delicious. The house is located in a very quiet place. We saw deers in the morning. I was difficult to leave the beauty of the Columbia river.

  • What a beautiful spot! Fantastic view, perfectly clean and lovely accommodations. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and even got up early to have the best strawberry rhubarb muffins and coffee waiting for us. Can't wait to visit again!

  • Amazingly friendly couple that did everything to make you feel welcome. Do yourself a favor and get them to make you dinner, it's a great experience. Beautiful location and accommodations!

  • Never having been to the west coast we were looking to try a bit of everything. We have never stayed at a Bed and breakfast either so when looking for night accommodations staying at one was a fun, appealing idea. The Dahlia house is absolutely beautiful and the view is awesome! We stayed in the hummingbird room where we could see the Columbia river; lots of boats going past, really cool to see! But more importantly was Linda and Brian's welcoming attitude. So kind, so attentive and thoughtful! Linda has truly thought of everything to make your stay special. Bed was comfortable, bathroom roomy and clean. Breakfast was a real treat, delicious French pressed coffee delivered outside our room followed by a fresh fruit parfait, breakfast bread and French toast downstairs in the dining room. We were pleasantly impressed and satisfied with our first B&B experience and will definitely be back if ever traveling in the area!

    Alison2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Linda and Brian were wonderful hosts! Their historical home was charming, comfortable and quaint. I loved the garden and deer, my partner enjoyed the walks along the water and the wildlife nearby. Their home and area has a rich and interesting history that brought Oregon and Washington's coast to life. What a relaxing and lovely trip. We will surely miss the morning coffees brought to the door of the amazing Hummingbird Room, where we watched the boats drift by, day and night, on the temperamental river.

    Krystyna2015-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Gracious hosts, quiet setting, beautifully decorated home and landscaping, coffee brought to our room first thing in the morning and wonderful breakfast made our time at the Dahlia House B&B one of the best experiences either of us have ever had. The bed was very comfortable. Can't remember when I've had such a good nights sleep. Great place to bike along the Columbia River, too. Thanks Brian and Linda for making us feel so special! We will definitely be back to visit.

It's quiet and great for families or those who want to get away from the city and enjoy peace and tranquility. We have numerous activities for kids to do as well as adults. You'll appreciate living island style and taking a break from your every day life.
It's quiet, safe, and we love watching boats go by and hearing crickets chirping at night. The small town feel is all around the neighborhood. Longview/Kelso and Astoria, OR are just 25 minutes away. Grocery store, brewery, library and restaurants are just 10 minutes away. We are just 90 minutes from Portland.
  • Philip and Robin are an amazing young couple. They are very engaging and easy to talk to. Very concerned about your needs, always willing to help if you need it. We loved the house, it is very clean, you can tell they take pride in their business! They made us feel like we were a part of their family.

  • This is a BEAUTIFUL location & property. We enjoyed our stay only wished we had arrived earlier to take advantage of all that was offered. This was our 1st trip to Oregon/Washington but will not be our last. Not only did we enjoy the location etc. we were given a delicious breakfast of banana nut pancakes, sausage, juice & coffee. Philip & Robin were great to stay with & we enojyed all they had to share.

  • We had a wonderfully relaxing time at your place. We enjoyed the option of using their kayaks, relaxing on the shore, on the deck, or inside. We took advantage of the games offered out and inside, as well as the dvd movies. It was great to bbq and later sit near their fire pit and make smores. The cookies and breakfasts were delicious. Thank you for opening up your home and making us feel comfortable and welcome.

  • It was a joy staying at Kathleen's bed and breakfast. The location is so beautiful and peaceful, with mists rising off of the river behind the house. The room was beautifully decorated, and the cookies waiting for us when we arrived were a treat. Breakfast was scrumptious--wonderful fruit, rosemary cream cheese omelette and sausage, with delicious potatoes and toast. We had originally planned on staying along the coast and we were thrilled to find such a lovely haven, well worth the short trip from the coast!

  • What a nice little get-away we had at the Twin Gables B&B. We needed a quiet break and it was perfect. Kathleen was a wonderful hostess, the bed was very comfortable, and breakfast was delicious...and huge! We'll go back.

    Judy2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • From what I heard from my parents, it seemed to be a very enjoyable experience. The host was very friendly and the food was excellent. They would stay there again!

    Malynn2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Twin Gables was so charming and our Hosts, Kathleen and Stevan, were so welcoming and gracious. When we arrived, we had handmade coconut macarons waiting in our room. A pot of hot coffee was waiting outside our door when we woke up. Our room was lovely and the location couldn't have been better. It is located on a quiet canal, off of the Columbia River. After having a delicious (and huge!) breakfast of fresh fruit, juice, eggs, sausage, homemade bread and jam, we took a picturesque walk along the beach. This place is a true find! Thank you, Kathleen & Stevan!

    Elisabeth2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • When I walked up to Twin Gables, I was so excited to be staying there. From the outside of the house it is charming and inviting. Steven greeted me and carried my suitcase up to the room. He showed me where to find coffee in the morning and being so hot outside, he showed me the ice cream bars in the freezer. Yes, I ate 2! The room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. Kathleen tailored my breakfast around my gluten free diet. Both breakfasts' presentation were lovely and very good! She takes great care in creating that meal. One of the reasons why I chose this B & B was because it is on water. I was able to swim off the dock and borrow a boat to row. In the evening a family of river otters appeared on the other side of the river. The following day, I went for a long walk in the nature preserve in town, checked out the covered bridge that was not that far from town, drove past the Astoria bridge to watch a couple of whales spouting in the distance. it is really beautiful in that area of Washinton. I can't wait to go back and explore more!

    Karen2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • I picked the Twin Gables B&B because it looked like the perfect getaway after a crazy week. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. The backyard is right off of the water and the patio is the perfect place to read and watch the sun set. We even spotted a couple of sea otters off of the dock! The room was large and meticulously clean. There was a coffee/tea station right outside the upstairs bedrooms & the breakfast was BEYOND delicious. Homemade by Kathleen herself. It felt like home as soon as I walked in and I definitely recommend it!

    Tasha2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • A cute little B&B on the water here as shown. We were welcomed by Kathleen's husband, cookies in the room, nice ambience, a very comfortable queen bed and a private bath off the bedroom - just as advertised. The breakfast the next morning was first rate - fresh fruit, juice, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast and coffee. Very nice.

    Charles2015-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a sweet little B&B, very antique Victorian in style. The room was large and very comfortable. The hosts provide every convenience you could need- even fresh cookies in your room to hot tea. We were surprised how secluded the town is, makes for a very quiet, relaxed evening! If you're looking for a nice meal, maybe plan to eat on your way in. We did have an amazing breakfast that was prepared by Kathleen! So delicious! Beautiful setting off the river.

The Inn At Crippen Creek Farm offers a respite from the hectic rhythm of everyday life. We also offer optional gourmet dinners and cooking classes. On weekends you can enjoy live music and craft beers in nearby Cathlamet at River Mile 38 Brewery.
  • The Crippen Creek Farm is peaceful, cozy, and yummy! Don and Kitty are very gracious and hospitable hosts. The room was absolutely lovely - I could hear the creek at night and see the stars in the sky from my bed!

    Erica2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the lovely drive along the Columbia River to this remote, beautiful, and peaceful setting. Don & Kitty were more like friends than hosts, and were easy to visit with and have stimulating conversation with for extended sessions. I would have preferred to stay a second night. We hope to go back and cooperate on a big Indian dinner. This is a memorable BnB destination. Highly recommended.

  • Warm welcome! Spacious. Fresh air. Room had plenty of space. Cozy bed. Delicious breakfast.

  • My significant other and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Don and Kitty. Their home is immaculate and exactly as described. Don and Kitty made us feel like family and we're eager to return for more delicious farm grown food and engaging conversation. Can't wait to come back!

    Brenna2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in the Alder room here at Kitty and Don's beautiful farm was wonderful. It was like visiting with good friends you hadn't seen in a while. Breakfast was delicious- homemade biscuits and Huevos Rancheros and the best coffee. It was a much needed home away from home find! Thank you Kitty and Don.

    Ladelle2015-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment Kitty opened the door, I felt at home. She was warm and genuine and welcoming, and it wasn't long before she, Don, my boyfriend Drew and I were enjoying the relaxed, easy conversation of old friends. The food Don made both for dinner and breakfast was some of the best we had in our ten days out West, and that's saying something given the foodie towns of Portland and Seattle we stayed in along the way. The room was clean, comfortable, and inviting, with attention paid to details spanning from offering shampoo and conditioner to beautiful flowers to bedside truffles. Add that to the idyllic setting and it simply doesn't get better than this.

    Courtney2015-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty and Don have a gorgeous house that offers a welcome reprieve from the frenetic pace of professional life. It's the perfect place for going off the grid to recharge and the beautiful property is ideal for mindful hikes/walks. Kitty and Don are extremely gracious hosts and Don's culinary skills are amazing!

    Tamina2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Kitty and Don was such a treat. The food was incredible and the conversation was warm and engaging. The house is lovely and the room has three large windows that look out on to the lawn and lush trees by the creek. A wonderful place to wake up. My partner and I loved meeting the other guests over meals and enjoying tea on the front porch, and walking around on the old logging roads by the property. This is the perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway - it's far enough away from the city to be quiet, peaceful and calm, but not too far of a drive from Portland. We loved exploring the town and took a lovely scenic drive to the coast, which is close. Kitty and Don are gracious hosts -- they accommodated my dietary needs, gave us great suggestions for stuff to do nearby, and are generally great people. I really recommend having them make dinner for you when you go visit! It's worth it. I can't recommend their place enough, we are already planning to go back.

Pillar Rock Camp is a new camping trailer with all amenities and parked overlooking a spectacular view of the Columbia River. We provide a private beach access where you can spend time, have a beach camp fire, and enjoy viewing the natural wildlife and great ships "up close and personal".
There is a communal fire pit on the front lawn, again with spectacular views as well as a private fire . A walking road up the mountain (behind the property), provides deep woods and a seasonal waterfall. The views are incredible!! NOTE: We are 30 minutes from a town for groceries.
We are almost to the end of a 11 mile paved road which follows the Columbia River. The neighborhood consists of well spaced out residences with lots of beach views, abundant wildlife and a slower lifestyle. There are walking opportunities along the scenic road and people here are very open and friendly.
  • This is a great get-away and a definitely a different experience that your standard AirBNB. Bring whatever you might want because the location is far away from any grocery stores, etc. The description is accurate and communicating with Kathy was a breeze! The best part of the location was the beach access. We would have spent more time down there if we had known about it earlier. Take a chair and a book and you can sit next to the water with nobody else around. Thanks! We really enjoyed the stay-cation.

    Tanya2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy and Fred are great, helpful people with a little hidden paradise. This everything you can want out of a getaway. Not to mention that the location is really interesting with lots of history.

  • If you're looking for peace and quiet, scenic views and wild life, this is the place for you! We stayed one night in the RV and one night in the Retreat. The RV was super cozy. We loved that the bedroom had its own entrance with a screen door, which enabled us to be lulled to sleep by the fresh country air and the sound of the Columbia river (and the occasional barge!). Though it's equipped with a bathroom, guests must use the shower in the main house, which was large and clean and fully stocked with big soft bath towels, soap, and shampoo. The second night we stayed in the Retreat, which is a manufactured home with a spacious living room (with a t.v. and DVD player) and kitchen area, a conventional bathroom with a great shower head, and a little bedroom with a super comfy bed. Both the RV and Retreat have access to fire pits (which we were happy to put to use) and are about a three-minute walk down to the river(URL HIDDEN)This place is very special! We will definitely be coming back!

    Jennifer2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Best decision we made to stay at this scenic beautiful spot! We arrived late at night coming out from Seattle traffic although Kathy left the lights on for us and responded quickly and ensure we had everything we needed. Kathy and Fred welcomed us like a family. We brought fresh halibut from the farmers market in Seattle and cooked it on the fire pit that's right outside the RV. We walked down to their private river shore/beach and spent time there with our small dog and he loved it! We were able to unwind and relax for the rest of the day listening to wind chimes and the wave sounds from the Columbia River. Kathy and Fred went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful and we are definitely coming back again.

    Julia2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Best vacation I've had in years Kathy and Fred or amazing hosts and made us feel right at home. It didn't feel like you were in a camper it felt like you were in a little cottage because they make it feel so homey. Great location very private and the private beach along with the facility is breathtaking. Me and my significant other will definitely be going back soon!

    Casey 2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was perfect! Private & Clean. You can enjoy a secluded beach and wonderful view from the truck.

    Woody2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic secluded area to relax and enjoy the Columbia river beach. Many tame deer in the area that have no worries about you being in their forest home. Hosts were amazing, and they made sure everything was perfect on our stay! If you plan to fish, there is really no small fishing option, so make sure you bring heavy rod and tackle for salmon steelhead. We only brought light gear, so that was a disappointment for us. It might be a good idea for the owners to have a few on hand to rent out for fishing... just a thought. I would have gladly rented a heavy pole and gear to spend that time fishing with my son. Anyways great stay and worth every penny.

The house was custom built as a B&B, each room has unique character with great views of the grounds. The lower floor rooms all have patios facing the pond, while the upstairs room has a balcony over looking the pond.
The Washington town of Skamokawa is located on the Columbia River at River Mile (RM) 33.5, where Steamboat Slough joins the mouth of the Skamokawa Creek. Skamokawa was founded in 1844. Originally the town was a river community known as "Little Venice", and was visited daily by large stern-wheel steamboats running between Portland and Astoria. The homes and businesses were built facing the river. In 1917 that the town was linked by road to the neighboring communities, and in the early 1930s Washington State Highway 4 was finished linking Skamokawa to the rest of the state. Seven miles upstream from Skamokawa is Cathalamet, Washington. Just offshore lies Price Island, part of the Julia Butler Hansen Refuge for Columbian White-Tailed Deer. Downstream are the "points" of Three Tree and Jim Crow. Pillar Rock lies 6 miles downstream. Lewis and Clark spent the nights of November 7 and November 25 at Pillar Rock. The name "Skamokawa" is an original Chinook Indian name meaning "Smoke on the water", referring to the fog often encountered at the mouth of Skamokawa Creek.

  • We loved our stay with Jessica & friends at The Lucky Mud Inn. The room is spacious and was immaculate, with thoughtful touches everywhere: soft lighting, lovely bedding, nice soap, great mattress. The grounds and garden are lush and inviting, and the whole vibe of the place is relaxed and welcoming. Breakfast was gorgeous; berries & eggs collected that day, and Jessica is a terrific cook and an easy host. It was a great stay in every way.

  • Adam and Sara's place was comfortable and homey. My stay there was simply overnight, but wish I had had more time there. It was very scenic and serene. My room had a balcony that was good for star gazing (and watching the sunset if you get there early enough). Sara was kind and left out some fruit and bread for me since she knew I'd be leave early in the morning. I would love to return and recommend it to anyone. It is a bit of a drive to get there, but worth it.

  • We had a LOVEY time at this little sanctuary! Right as we walked outside our room, there was a pond! Everything was so quiet and peaceful! We loved it! The breakfasts were wonderful and fresh from her garden! Our host was absolutely a gem!

The view says it all. In hot weather it is cooler than Portland, Oregon. Usually quiet and peaceful. Rural.
  • The four of us spent several days at the wonderful house on the Columbia. It's a large, clean, lovely house completely equipped with anything needed. Our host greeted us when we arrived and gave us a tour. The area is absolutely terrific. It's a quiet, peaceful area. We enjoyed the local wildlife and fruit trees in the yard. Also spent much of our time on the deck watching activities on the River...occasional boats, myriads of birds, and changes in tides. It's an hours drive from Cape Disappointment State Park, but worth the drive.

We had a sick child with us so we weren't able to utilize the new pool table or play ping pong, maybe next time! The double tall airbed was very comfortable! Gorgeous views of the river and the eagles flying by.

  • The house right on the columbia river is simply amazing. Wonderful view and a plenty of space. We asked for a late check in and there has been no problem at all. Leslie and David were always ready to help. Very fast communication. We enjoyed our stay at Fairview!

  • Staying here is a no-brainer. A little off the beaten path, but that's the point! Take in amazing views while you relax in an extremely comfortable home. Great sectional couch and plenty of entertainment in the daylight basement. Seamless communication, perfect stay. Pick a weekend, gather a few friends or family and check out Fariview on the Columbia!

  • David's place was better than I had expected. The place was exactly as described. David gave us a tour and let us do our thing. We were late as we were stuck in traffic and he was very understanding. He lives very close and whenever there was a problem or we had a question, he was just a phone call or text away. He always replied fast and quickly before and during the trip. The house was so nice and had everything we needed and more. There were games for us to play and everything you could think of needing. He even had blueberry bushes outside for us to pick the blueberries. The view was amazing. This is a great place for a group of friends to just relax for the weekend. I would definitely recommend everyone to stay here.

    Katie 2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • David's place was just the cherry on top for our family weekend vacation. David offered a beautiful house and made sure he did everything he can to make our stay comfortable. We were greeted into a house with a beautiful view. We honestly enjoyed the view so much, that we have just as many photos on his front porch as the amount of photos we have taken at Canon Beach. We definitely hope to come back again next summer!

    Valerie2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • David and Leslie were wonderful hosts. Very easy to communicate with and we were extremely happy with our stay. The house is big but still cozy. Good for both large family gatherings or a quiet get away for a couple. Nice view of the river from the beautiful deck outside.

This is an excellent choice if you need a peaceful getaway for the weekend. There are trails from the backyard where you can get lost in a magical forest that connect to well maintained hiking trails in Big Creek Park. We have a yoga area & plentiful lounging spots. Enjoy forest views from our deck & breakfast nook, and look out for deer & elk that may roam by! Relax in the hot tub while enjoying some bird watching. Our place is good for couples, artist retreats, families, and big groups.
We have a spacious house with lots of natural light and excellent views. It is only an hour and half from Portland, making it the perfect weekend getaway.
  • The host canceled this reservation 52 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • The house is beautiful, well furnished, and peaceful. It backs up to an amazing forest and the firepit and hot tub were both great. The neighborhood is quiet and it's a quick 20 minutes to Astoria. Would stay here many more times. Tallie was responsive via text and everything went very smoothly.

    Bryan2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Tallie's place was great! Spacious, clean, comfortable and so quiet!! We hiked the woods behind the house and connected to the loop in Big Creek Park, where you can fish, BBQ, and pick blackberries! We visited Astoria, but really, if you wanted to spend a quiet few days, you could hang at the house and surrounding areas without ever getting back in your vehicle. A deer wandered through the front yard as we were packing up to leave! We really didn't want to go. Would love to visit again!

  • Very relaxing and peaceful country setting. Completely private guest house well equipped and well stocked. We would've preferred to be 10 minutes closer to town, but this was a fabulous spot to come back to.

  • I arranged for my 18 y.o. daughter and her friend to stay at O Lynne's as part of their road trip to Oregon. They raved about the host and the scenic view! I felt that they were much safer staying at O Lynne's than at a hotel. If we make a trip to Astoria we will definitely stay there again!!

    KATHY2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place to stay at in Astoria. The house is next to the Columbia River, excellent view and it's a quiet place. Not exactly in the most central part of town, but the good thing is that it's really quiet. The room is downstairs with a private bathroom, room is spacious, well-furnished and comfortable. The host is the best - she's kind and absolutely lovely. We had yummy fresh fruit, granola, nuts and yogurt for breakfast. We were lucky that she is helping a friend look after some alpacas for the next few months, so we got to see alpacas grazing when we look out the window! Auggie the Labradoodle is such a cutie, can be intimidating at first but you'll find that he's the sweetest dog ever! I will definitely recommend a stay here!

    Joanna2017-07-15T00:00:00Z

You've found it! Privacy and river view, this house has it all and is ready for your North Coast vacation getaway.
The John Day boat launch is a mere five minute drive, downtown Astoria is only nine minutes away, with its famous restaurants, coffee houses, breweries and museums. Take a ride on the trolly over a hundred years old along the waterfront, climb the famous Astoria column modeled after the Roman column in Rome with its hand painted murals, visit pier 39 to check out the former home of the Bumble Bee cannery, take the family swimming at the Astoria aquatic center or take off to the Oregon and Washington beaches.
  • Was perfect for our fishing trip. Just close enough to town to get what was needed and just far enough away to relax and enjoy the scenery. Fully stocked and wonderfully kept place. Hosts were great communicators. Thanks for helping make our trip that much better!!

  • Amazing people and they were so amazingly accommodating! So I booked the house for the wrong weekend by accident and Daniel & Staci were so great to help us out, they changed their plans even though I made a mistake and it all worked out! It made for a more memorable experience for sure. The house was more amazing then I could have pictured, a gorgeous view and quiet scenic back yard. A definite must stay! 2 br, 1.5 bath with beautiful views, comfy beds, large screen TV w/premium channels and free WiFi all nestled w/in the forest alongside Columbia River. Wood floors, high ceilings, gas fireplace, baby grand piano and a telescope overlooking the river. NOTE: No children under 14.
Its a big home, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath (you could have access to all except one bedroom and bathroom). We've owned the place for about 10 years and completely gutted the house at that time so everything is relatively new inside. Its one story and the best part is the breathtaking view. We could sit out on our deck, or on the couch in front of our fireplace, for hours just taking it all in. There's a long drive way and lots of grassy yard surrounding it so it's very private as well.
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. This is in a beautiful location overlooking the Columbia River. I used this as a base to explore the fishing in some of the nearby rivers. I will stay here again. Thank you Bo!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bo & Peggy's. The views were to die for and sitting outside on the deck was so relaxing. We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne and some OJ for mimosas and enjoyed our short visit with Bo before they disappeared to let us enjoy the property. They gave us great suggestions for dinner options and had a log ready to go in the fire pit. Waking up in the master bedroom with that view of the Columbia was marvelous. We hope to visit again someday!

    Kelly2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • This has been by far my most favorite Airbnb experience!!! The home is beautiful! The 24-7 view from any part of the home or deck is indescribably beautiful. Thank you to Bo and Peggy for being the 'host of hosts. Bo even went Salmon fishing to try to catch our dinner!!! Thank you also for having all of the first day fixings for our first morning's hearty breakfast. You made our visit unforgettable and one that we will be share with all of our friends and family.

    Arlene 2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place and beautiful view of the Columbia.

    Cody2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stop here look no further if you desire : comfort, ease, views of the river, a cozy and comfortable bed and a host that is right out of a Hemingway novel. We were delighted. Longview is a small ( not a tourist destination ) community and Bo's home is 10 miles from town. Sit on the deck and watch the ships go by or look for eagles above and osprey diving for dinner. the bonnieville dam is very interesting a a beautiful ride up river. Go to Astoria too and see the mouth and learn about the "bar" at the museum. We could not be happier! But get your request in soon. Bo only rents this out 4 or 5 weeks a year. He is known locally as THE salmon fisherman . We loved him and we're sorry to leave! Next time we hope to meet Peggy his wife. We did enjoy dinner in Rainer with a local couple who have lived in this area 70 years! It was the icing on the cake. Thanks Bo!

    jayne2015-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We were in the area because of family and enjoyed coming back each evening because the view was beautiful. It was so very relaxing to just watch the river and the ships/boats. Fortunately the weather was warm and beautiful during our stay and so we got to thoroughly enjoy the deck. We appreciated having the use of the kitchen. Easily one of our favorite airb&b experiences and we would have no problem returning in the future!

    Brenda2016-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful home has a view to die for! Our host greeted us upon arrival and showed us around and I don't think we saw him again. They have a sweet dog named Moose who visited us once in awhile :) The house has everything you will need for a relaxing trip. Ours was a girls weekend and we spent most of our time soaking up the sun on the deck which had a fire pit, cozy couches and chairs. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

  • If you're thinking about staying in Astoria, you should definitely check out Jade's place before booking a place in town. Why? First off, Astoria is quite literally only a 5-minute drive away and, second, you can enjoy peace and quiet at her beautiful place on a quiet river rather than in the close quarters you are likely to find in town. One of the things we really enjoyed was the beautiful setting where you can enjoy watching all kinds of birds and wildlife along the river. The level of privacy is very high since your nearest neighbors seem more than a football field away in all directions. The private dock is very peaceful and we spent a very special evening and morning out there. There is a little traffic noise from the highway but it wasn't a big deal to us at all. The house itself is not much to look at from the outside but inside it's perfect. Really nice bedrooms with comfortable beds. Best for 4 people but 6 people would do fine if you don't mind using the living room space for sleeping. There really is everything you need here and the furniture and decor is quite new and in excellent condition. Jade herself was very available to help us and she was responsive, flexible, accommodating, and helpful in our frequent communication with her. I know it's customary to gush about your host but she really was exceptional. We'd love to come back. An incredible value. Thanks!

    David2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • It's one of the best Airbnb in our entire trip in portland. The place is far more beautiful than in the pictures. Surprisingly it has a private sauna room! Main beds are really comfortable. Place is super clean. The river view is spectacular. Everything just perfect. (Wish the water from Jacuzzi tub could be hotter) Jade is super fast with messages and very helpful. Just make sure to get a clear direction before you head there if you're not familiar with the area. GPS doesnt show the exact location.

    kimmy2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jades place was FANTASTIC!!! It was decorated beautifully and very, very comfortable! The dock and river were breath taking and it was so peaceful watching the birds and fish jump! After all the hard and tragic news lately with the hurricanes and fires, it was nice to have a beautiful, peaceful place to be and enjoy. Thanks again and we will be back!

    Vicki2017-09-11T00:00:00Z

  • Excellent experience - start to finish. Host was easy to communicate and prompt with replies. Accommodations were exactly as described. House is very comfortable and spacious. Wish we could've stayed longer.

    Summer2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Driving up to the house it looks like an ordinary house. However once you step inside you realize the thought and dedication that Jade put into the house. The soft mattress and jacuzzi tube in the master bath, Finnish sauna, full kitchen, and best of all the view from the living room and master bedroom are better than you expect in a rental. This house was a little difficult to find with GPS, but Jade was great explaining the final directions. However, this was the bonus. The house is very secluded and once at the house you can spend hours just watching the tides go in / out or the birds flying outside. Would recommend if you have a boat, kayak, paddle board etc to put right into the water at the house. Short (5 min) drive to Astoria, grocery store and all the amenities, but far enough away to enjoy a quiet night.

  • Wonderful accommodations, perfect spot in between Portland and Seattle. Communication was great!

    Jon2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Calvin's pace was the perfect spot to stay as our midway point on our ride to totality from Portland. He welcomed us and we were able to enjoy some burgers at his shop and get a good nights sleep before we hit the road in the morning. Would definitely return if passing through this way again!

    Kate2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Calvin's place makes you want to stay longer and explore, its so interesting! Unfortunately we reached reallly late (2 am-ish) and had to leave early next day. Calvin was very accommodating about our late arrival. He has a store out front which has all sorts of stuff in it. Makes you feel like a small child in a toy shop! Would have loved to explore it. The room itself is pretty big with a bed that sleeps 3 easily and another small one on which a very light weight person can sleep (the heavy ones kinda collapse into it). There is a tiny loft which can sleep a person or two if you are not claustrophobic. The bathroom was very clean and well provisioned. There is a nice espresso machine in case you feel like coffee. Can't say much about the surroundings except that they were really pretty and quiet. Calvin was very prompt in responding to messages. He also suggested that instead of taking the road to Astoria we should take our car on the ferry that crosses Columbia river over to Washington and then take the more scenic route there and cross over the Astor-Megler bridge to Oregon. That was like the best suggestion ever!! We thoroughly enjoyed doing it, thanks Calvin :)

  • Calvin is easy going and the apartment is great. The location is just a few miles out of town and was easy to find. The Lichen Room is a large room with private entrance, bathroom, local coffee and homemade granola or oatmeal, and small sitting area. Enjoy the historic floors salvaged from a nearby cannery, and sip coffee in bed while you watch the ships go by.
This is a private one bed/bath studio set up for up to three guests. There is a queen bed and a twin daybed. wireless internet, local coffee in room, views of the Columbia and ships on the river, quiet neighborhood with a access to town through the RiverWalk (or driving). I live in the front of the house and you visit in the back; we each have separate quarters. I will greet you when you arrive, and then am available if you need or want anything. If you are new to town, I am happy to make recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Alderbrook is a charming neighborhood, located on the east end of Astoria at the end of the Riverwalk. It is a historic fishing community on the Columbia River. One of the things that makes this place so special is the kind and generous neighbors, so please be respectful of them. The RiverWalk--a walking and bike path that runs the length of Astoria along the river-- is close by. It's ~2mile bike or walk to town. And it is lovely, travelling on old railroad trestles out over the river. There is also a bus stop 2 blocks away that runs M-F.

  • What a great stay! Very clean, cozy and cutely decorated! Even nicer than the pictures. Yummy local coffee, granola, yogurt and fresh strawberries were a nice surprise. • Fantastic place and host. The Lichen Room was perfect and Melissa was lovely - unintrusive and yet very attentive. Highest rating and recommendation.

    Janet2015-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. She gave us great suggestions for local attractions, including restaurant recommendations and a trail walk next to the river. The apartment itself is utterly charming. Because it is situated away from the street, it is both quiet and private. The room is very large with vintage hardwood floors, a tall ceiling, and delightful decorations. The bed was comfortable and the bed linens, towels, and toiletries were very good quality. In addition to coffee and tea, Melissa also provided supplies for a wonderful organic breakfast (granola, soy milk, fresh blueberries, yogurt, and plums). There was ample street parking in front of the house. We were very comfortable in the Lichen Room and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Astoria.

  • My boyfriend and I were looking for a getaway to start the new year well rested and I am so happy we chose to stay at Melissa's! It was an incredibly peaceful and tranquil environment that could not have been more inviting. Melissa is a wonderful and thoughtful hostess with excellent tips on where to eat and what to do in the area. We even lucked out and got to sample her butterscotch scones which were divine. We highly recommend the Lichen room and if we ever stay in Astoria again we will definitely go back!

A full kitchen is provided including many of the condiments you might need. Check our stock of ketchup, mustard, steak and fish seasoning, spices, olive oil and mayo type condiments before bringing your own. People tend to leave what they don't need there for the next group. But the local Safeway grocery is only 10 minutes in Clatskanie and open until 11:00PM. The fourth bed is a queen pull out in the den room. The deck is great for: entertaining with a gas barbecue, toasting the sunsets, or watching the waterfowl and eagles. Life jackets and a few fishing poles are available. This is our Columbia river guest house which has never had a permanent resident since new, but we would love to share it with you. Secluded but only, 1 hr from Portland Airport and 45+ min to (URL HIDDEN) historic Astoria Oregon, and Washington beach and coastal towns, for day trips. Weekenders from Seattle really enjoy a few days of escape here.
This is a rare rural-farm neighborhood area on the lower Columbia where the homes are total river front without crossing a road to get to the river. Your dock starts 30 feet from the house front door. Paved roads are available for country biking (but no bike lanes), and you can hiking within our 100 acres of foothill timberland providing outstanding views.
  • This house is beautiful, secluded and comfortable. We had room to have family over and enough to space so we weren't tripping over each other. There was plenty of wildlife in the area to keep us all intertained. We loved our stay here.

  • It was a good place, ideal if going with a big group of people. The house is right on the Columbia river and has a great view of Mt. St. Helens from the deck. The house itself was spacious. Jim was a great host and was very responsive and helpful. The property is a little secluded and the neighborhood has some abandoned houses which gives it a bit of an eerie feeling. You have to drive a few miles to get food. Apart from that, it's a perfect getaway weekend getaway place.

  • This location was perfect for our family vacation. James was an excellent host. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved swimming/floating by the dock, skiing, playing volleyball, and sitting on the deck enjoying the views.

  • This place was an absolute gem. The pictures don’t quite do it justice – its even better than it looks! I was there for work, and the location was more than perfect. My husband and daughter joined me for the duration and they had fun exploring the area. Astoria is a quick trip down the road with plenty of things to do and good food and drink to be found. They also visited Mt. St. Helens, which was a bit farther of a drive, but completely worth it, from what I heard. As for the house, we all spent plenty of time relaxing on the spacious deck and soaking in the excellent views. We brought a kayak, and my husband enjoyed exploring the nearby waterways. The weather was great and a dip in the Columbia was a refreshing treat. We brought plenty of food, but thought that we might venture out for a meal or two. However, the house had everything we needed to prepare our meals and we couldn’t justify leaving. I’m quite sure we wouldn’t have found an eatery that provided better views and a more relaxing atmosphere than this place. Jim was an excellent host, we were glad to have the opportunity to meet him during our stay. We especially enjoyed learning about the history of the area and the Finnish people who developed the land. We will be back!
