Sightseeing in Sintra

Castle
“This Moorish Castle built in the 8th century is in the romantic playground of Sintra. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and no more than 25 minutes by car. My advise would be to take an Uber taxi to avoid winding, narrow roads and difficult parking. Alternatively bus tours are available or I can recommend a good driver for the day.”

“ More like a fairy tale cottage, but it is quite true and it was here that Elise Hensler, Countess D'edla and opera singer, lived her love story with King Ferdinand II. The Chalet Countess D'edla, reopened to the public in 2013, was inspired by the constructions of the Swiss mountains and has around botanical species from all over the world, and various fountains and small viewpoints. The ticket includes the visit to Quinta da Pena, interior of the chalet and Garden of the Countess. ”

“If you see someone loading water bottles into the car, don't be surprised: the water properties of the Sabuga fountain are known since the 12th century. It is said to slow down the cough and soothes the bile.”
