You’ll love my place because of the location directly on the York Heritage Rail Trail. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. The room is recently renovated with all new furnishings, fixtures and amenities. The room is located in the historic Glen Rock Mill Inn. The Inn includes a full service up-scale restaurant featuring american cuisine on the ground floor. Additional information about the property is available on the Glen Rock Mill Inn website.
The room is on the second floor. It has been recently renovated and features a modern decor with a private bathroom with an extra large shower. The room includes a king size bed, a pull out futon, and flat screen smart TVs. As with most buildings 180 years old, we don't have an elevator so you'll have 2 flights of stairs to traverse to get to your room. We are always available to assist with luggage or packages.
The Glen Rock Mill Inn in nestled in the center of Glen Rock borough. The entire downtown area is registered on the national historic register. Many of the buildings have historic markers. A visit to Glen Rock wouldn't be complete if you didn't visit the Glen Rock Carol Singer Monument (conduct a quick internet search for more info) and the Glen Rock Historic Preservation Society. And, of course, the steam train is a must see. This 1870's style locomotive travels past the Inn regularly. More information on the train is available at the Steam Into History web site.
  • Love this place and will totally stay there again. The suite was huge and very comfortable. There is a restaurant downstairs that serves great food and often has great music. Convenient location for me and everyone was super polite. I highly recommend staying here and will definitely be staying there whenever I visit my mom.

  • Terry was great to communicate with prior to visit. Having the restaurant downstairs was nice. Loved the historic atmosphere. Will definitely stay again!

  • This is a wonderful inn, complete with restaurant that had live music during our Saturday night stay. That being said, the room was quiet and we were not disturbed at all when it came time for us to go to bed (earlier than the band's quitting time). The care that the owners have taken in renovating the rooms (we had #8/9) is very apparent and we were quite comfortable and felt very welcome. Check-in was easy and so was parking. We would stay again if traveling in the area!

    Susan2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Inn because both days we were biking the rail trail and the Inn was right on the trail, which was perfect. The rooms were big, clean and modern in a historical building which was liked. We ate dinner there and food and service was great. Afterwards we went inside to hear the band and watch the Penn State game, again all was great. We will be back. Thank you.

  • Our stay at the Glen Rock Mill Inn was quite the experience. Being right along the rail trail was a huge plus. We spent the afternoon exploring the area along the rail trail and we also took a train ride. The room was cozy and clean, and having the restaurant and bar downstairs was very convenient.

  • We had a mini family reunion with my sisters family. The rooms easily accompanied a family of 4 and were nicely appointed. The only reason I didn't give the room 5 stars it that my daughter felt one of the pillows had an odar. It was very minor and easily solved with a dad's t-shirt pillowcase. Terry is the host and was friendly and accommodating. The staff at the restaurant were equally welcoming and made us feel quite at home. I would not hesitate to visit again. The live music and good beer was a pleasant surprise! This spot is right along the rail trail.

  • Our family of 4 stayed in Suite Ten while visiting for a family wedding and it was perfect for us! The overall character of the place was a draw and the modern and renovated rooms made it feel like a brand new place. The suite was a great size for all of us as our sons, ages 5 and 2 slept on the futon and we were able to spread out in a very comfortable king size bed. The best part about it may have been the train that we could see going by from our window during the day. If we had more time we would've taken the train ride - Steam Into History. We also loved the bike and walking path all along the railroad. Next time we'd surely bring our bikes to venture out. There was an adorable library with a kids play area just down the road and a great breakfast place - The Great American Melting Pot. Overall a sweet location in the heart of it all! I'd recommend it to anyone biking through!

  • Everything about this place is amazing. The room was perfect. Most importanly, if you stay here, you must eat down stairs! The food was the best I've had in a while. Absolutely delicious food! I would definitely come back.

  • This place is sooo cute! Finished off a 26 mile bike ride on the trail with an amazing friendly staff, live music, craft beer and a perfectly prepared 16oz ribeye steak!! An overnight stay in the Inn in a clean modern suite is just what a tired body needs to recharge and relax. Jackpot!!!

    Mark2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet town with lots of local history. Tavern closed on Monday and Tuesday during my stay. Great rail-trail for walking or bikes. Room was clean and comfortable with a great shower.

    Daniel2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at the historic Glen Rock Mill Inn to be personally escorted around the quaint restaurant and restored mill. Terry walked us to our room, sharing brief interesting bits of history along the way. Our large room had been recently renovated and was very clean. We found the accommodations to be very modern and comfortable, accented with items such as an old trunk and exposed original brick walls. Folks should note it is necessary to climb two flights of stairs to get to the rooms. Also, as would be expected in a 175-year-old building, there are oddities such as creaky steps and sloped floors which added nothing but charm in my book. The bed was comfy and the air-conditioning worked well. We had a lovely visit here and hope to return again soon! Thanks, Terry!

  • Very clean What a historic place to stay. Owner had homemade cookies ,apples, and chips for us when we arrived. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

1840's log home with cozy rooms. Three season porch. Babbling brook. Hooting owls and stars at night. Claw foot tub. Games and puzzles. Line dried sheets and towels. Cleaned with environmentally friendly cleansers only. Farm-fresh eggs, yogurt, muffins, fruit for breakfast.
  • We were warmly greeted at the door of the house. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us to enjoy the evening and fresh eggs and muffins for us to enjoy the morning. The house was a perfect match for what we were looking for, a quiet, peaceful place surrounded by nature to spend some time.

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay the The Chicken Coop! Chicken-themed items were everywhere, from pictures to the breakfast plates. The house had everything we needed for the night: bathrobes, tea and coffee, fresh fruit, plates and wine glasses. There was space in the house for everyone to do something different, like playing tic-tac-toe on the chalkboard table, napping in a hammock, or reading on the porch. The sound of the creek at night was soothing and perfect to fall asleep to. Helen and David were gracious and helpful. The eggs and homemade muffins were delicious. Next time I'll have to bring bikes to take on the rail trail!

    Danielle2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn't have been any happier with our home away from home! Helen and David were the perfect hosts! They were super helpful and accommodating. Half of our party was flying in, and the other driving. They made themselves available for our convienance. Helen also gave us handmade washcloths to take with us! Mine is on my sink at home right now! And she made us delicious homemade, still warm blueberry muffins for breakfast! What a treat! Upon arrival the house was spotless! Carefully decorated not overdone. Just perfect! We have a 14 month old and the house was made for her! There's a door to the upstairs that we kept closed. So she was nice and contained in the living room. They even supplied us with a Pack and Play! It was so nice being able to put her to bed upstairs and enjoy an evening together downstairs. The bathroom upstairs has a claw foot tub that our daughter loved! She wanted a bath every night! There are two porches on the outside of the house. The one is open and the other enclosed. Our daughter loved running around and playing with the chalk table out there. I wish we had more time to relax outside. I'm looking forward to our next stay there. It was wonderful! And I miss seeing Fudge, the free range goat in the mornings!

    Ali2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are wonderful. They were quick to answer us, flexible about our needs, and made us feel right at home. We were treated to fresh baked muffins each morning alongside some fresh eggs from their chicken coop. We particularly enjoyed nighttime sits on the outdoor porch which made us feel as though we were in a tree house. The long soak in the clawfoot tub was also a highlight.

  • We enjoyed a great getaway!

  • What an amazing experience! Helen and David were so welcoming and their property is an amazing retreat away from life in the fast lane. Just a short drivefrom Baltimore, but, a world away! Thank you for the most amazing blueberry muffins ever and we will be back again!

  • I gave Airbnb a plug in the new 11th edition of our guidebook Living in the United States, which has now, just about to go to press - page 13 – see pdf below if interested. Anyway, our stay in the Chicken Coop was delightful. Dave and Helen have been so creative and generous and thoughtful to us as guests and in running their BnB. Really it is wonderful. As for you guys, your hospitality and good company and cheer even in the face of the mud and loss of Sunday were a treasure to remember. Thank you both!!! Andy (and Elise) Anders and Jed

  • My boyfriend and I stayed on Gene and Debbie’s farm for five nights and it was such a treat! Everything was beautiful, from the interior of the apartment to the outside property and surrounding area. The free-roaming chickens made us laugh every day, and we loved interacting with all of the other sweet animals they have there. Gene and Debbie were very kind and welcoming and definitely went above and beyond in making this a memorable experience for us. Highly recommend!

  • A beautiful charming little place in the hills of PA. Debbie and Gene were incredible hosts involving our daughter's on every daily farm chore. Debbie allowed our girls to help her with feeding their ducks, bunnies, bottle feed their goats, picking up eggs and even arranged horse time with their lovely Penny. Our girls were in heaven, they loved every second of it ! They can't stop talking about it asking when will be able to back. We hope soon, it was a memorable weekend for our family!

Within the local area there are many great places to eat, wineries to visit, antique stores to peruse and fresh produce markets.
  • We were lucky to find "Sweet Melody Farm." We attended a Barn Wedding in Airville. We know nothing about the area. We do not like to pay the high hotel costs, or the extra $ for breakfast at a B&B. If you need to find lodging anywhere near this airbnb, and you try to cut expenses, BUT still expect a nice stay, this is the place! The host is friendly, courteous, thoughtful, and has a high attention for detail. The kitchen table, counter/sink, small fridge & microwave is perfect for a stay. (Other kitchen amenities available if needed.) Walk up a flight of stairs and enjoy the plush carpeting, spacious room with flat surfaces for personal items. (dresser/chest/end tables/chairs) Available closet space and drawers, if needed. Down the short hall the bathroom has plenty of room for 2 to get ready. TV was simple after reading the 'Room Binder' instructions. This place is immaculate! We keep a neat home & this was just like our home. I even ran the driveway for a morning workout. Must be over a quarter mile, top/bottom with a good climb at the top. A couple turns/half turns/cool down and you're ready for the day..after a shower. Plenty of privacy with the way the home is set up. Utilize the 'Binder' for local recommendations. From 1-10, this place is a 12 for us! We would not think about staying elsewhere if we were in the area again.

    Dean2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We love the Pennsylvania country setting and Victoria is a terrific host. WiFi worked great for my online teaching and the bottle of Pacific Northwest wine was superb. This is a spacious, clean, quiet, country place with many amenities -- beds are nice and we slept great. The horses (Josie and Emmy) and outdoor cats (Gussie and Callie) made our experience even more special. Enjoying some beer and wine on the deck, listening to birds and watching fire flies was very relaxing. Also, the availability of guitars is a nice touch -- got to practice for the first time in many months. A great place!!

    James2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Their house and hospitality were wonderful. Lots of thoughtful thing available. Don't trust your GPS. Use Victoria's directions.

    Lydiann2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria and Jim's place is delightful, and the hosts are even more so! They were truly hospitable and kind, going out of their way to ensure I was comfortable. They also provided so many thoughtful details -- from coffee, tea, and cream in the kitchenette; to toiletries in case I might have forgotten any. Their home is quiet and so comfortable. Although the listing was for a private room within their home, I had much privacy and loved the ability to come-and-go as I needed to without having to worry much about disturbing them. I loved the secluded and quiet country setting, yet was still able to get anywhere I needed to go by car in a reasonable amount of time. I HIGHLY recommend this listing and hope to stay there again!

I plan someday to thoroughly research my property). I do know the physician, a Dr. Holtzapple, owned this property. He was the physician who first used oxygen to treat pneumonia patients. I will add more historic details eventually. We're situated in the country but easy access to so many places. Our farm is about 15 minutes off of interstate 83 and Route 30.
  • Kathleen and her family are wonderful people. Her home is warm and inviting, clean with a delightful scent of fresh country air. It was the perfect place to relax, and I loved being able to snuggle on the couch and watch a movie on the big screen l. I will be staying here everytime I'm in the area.

  • We LOVED our stay! This historic property is amazing--charming and comfortable, with your own private living area. In addition, it has wonderful views, includes access to an outside patio and offers (total bonus) the opportunity to walk through horse barns. Kathy was a delight to work with and super flexible when making arrangements. And SO hospitable--we felt totally at home. It was a great weekend getaway, near a rail-to-trail system and a pick-your-own apple orchard--not to mention wonderful historic sites (such as Gettysburg) nearby. Plus a super comfy bed and fluffy towels--couldn't ask for more. We'll be back!

    Elizabeth 2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleens place is beautiful. It it centrally located to Hanover and close to York. You have a wonderfully decorated bedroom and a big beautiful living room with a tv in each area that is yours to enjoy. You also have a private entrance so you do not have to bother any one with your plans. Kathleen and family answer any and all questions you may have. Very much enjoyed our stay and will be back.

  • She's the best. You'll have a lot of fun with Lynda. Great home and nice area

  • My daughter stayed here for her clinical rotation and it was a great place for her to stay. Her feedback was the place was clean and welcoming and a good value for the area. Lynda was very friendly and her hospitality was great!

  • Lynda is a special woman and a great host! Her home is spectacular! I can't explain how peaceful hanging out with her and taking in the view of the soybean fields and the gorgeous sky behind her home. Her sweet cats, Oreo and Noveena were my buddies. This home away from home was good for my soul. My bedroom and private bath on 2nd floor. Loved looking down into the spacious living room ; open and warm. Good energy! I'm a hypnotist and psych nurse, so I pay attention to this. Lynda will do what she can to make your stay special. Loved the local cracker barrel; exploring antique shops; and just hanging out with her. (home is in a beautiful plan with a pool and clubhouse and trails)

  • Great place and great, attentive host. A cat accompanied me for entire night. That's very different from an average hotel stay...

    KAROL2017-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lynda is a very considerate host. I spent 11 weeks at her home. She will go out of her way to make you feel welcome and at home. If you do not know the area, she is very helpful with suggestions if you have the time to tour the area. Her home is amazing, large, very spacious and clean. My private bathroom was wonderful, 2 sinks, standard size tub/shower and very clean. There is a washing machine and dryer for your laundry needs. Lynda has everything you could possibly need in the kitchen for cooking. I had my own section in the pantry for my food and my own section in the refrigerator/freezer for my perishable food too. I stayed with Lynda for my nursing assignment. It was a nightshift. Lynda went out and bought me blackout curtains so that I could sleep during the day. She has a big backyard and a country like setting with deer and wild turkey that frequented the area. The club house for the neighborhood is private and has every workout machine you could possibly need. I did not stay during the summer months so the clubhouse pool was closed. If you like taking walks, there are trails all over the neighborhood. They are nestled in the woods and their design is to give you a nature trail like experience in your own backyard. If you like spring water, Lynda has a place in the local area where you can get real spring water free. This is a popular thing to do so bring your jugs and wait your turn and meet some wonderful people, like yourself just wanting to stay healthy. Her home has a very large living room with a fireplace that with the flip of a switch you have an instant fire roaring in the living room to take the chill of your back. The living room TV has Netflix, Pandora , Amazon Prime and youtube. She also has cable TV. I did not need a TV in my room but I'm sure she would accommodate that request. She has 2 cats. Wonderful pets. Oreo, her black and white cat is more like a dog. When she leaves the house, he goes looking for her. Noveena, striped tabby, will greet you when you walk in the house. If you need piece and quiet during your stay, please let her know, she will also make sure that your privacy is respected. She has another tenant that rents the entire basement. He is very quiet and 99% of the time I never even knew he was home until I went outside to get in my car. His car would be in the driveway. Parking is in the driveway, not on the street. I have a big SUV and there was room for all 3 of our cars. One time, there were 4 of us there for 2 weeks and parking was still good. Again, I cannot stress how big Lynd's home is and...

  • Lovely house and very clean. This is the second time I have stayed at Laura's house and I plan to stay here in the future whenever I visit my mom.

  • Great stay - again!

    Brian2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • The host Laura was very friendly and did a great job making us feel welcome. We were staying there because my mom has a lot of cats and we have cat allergies and she made certain we knew she had a cat in case we wanted to book elsewhere. The description was very accurate. The neighborhood was very nice. The only thing I didn't like about the neighborhood was it was difficult to find at night. The GPS took us through a lot of dark, back roads.

    Jessica2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • These guys are so fun to talk to. Pleasant surroundings, super clean, fresh rooms. Good advice on things to do and places to eat in the area. We would stay there again.

  • Laura was a great host. I was very busy during my stay so we didn't get to talk much but she initially made sure I had everything I needed. I was always pleasantly greeted with a smile. I would definitely recommend staying here if in the area!

  • Laura and Jason are so very warm and welcoming. They made me feel very comfortable in their home, and "Raina" their cat, is my new BFF. LOL! Their home is adorable and decorated so teastefully. The accommodations were perfect for my stay. Will definitely stay again. Recommend highly.

    Shannon2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Laura and Jason were wonderful. They shared their home with me and treated me like a friend. They also have the best man cave ever, in the basement, that I used almost every night to unwind before bed. The neighborhood was very nice with some awesome restaurants nearby. If I ever have a reason to visit Red Lion again I will stay with Jason and Laura. I highly recommend staying at their home.

  • This was a very cozy room and pleasant home for my stay. I was very comfortable. Tabitha is a helpful and attentive host. Her home is in a great location (near 83 and also York-Dallastown) and I was able to get around easily. All went smoothly-planning communication/check in/stay/check out. There is a new, locally owned coffee shop nearby that I enjoyed. With a near full moon overhead, the view from the driveway overlooking York was beautiful.

    Reba2015-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very good stay for me, doing business in the area. It was very central to my work, and the neighborhood was quiet. Tabitha is a very nice hostess. I am a dog person, and enjoyed having the dog in the house. Thanks, Tabitha!

  • Quite place, convenient to hospital. Crystal, Tabitha's sister, is a great! host and so is Jenner the resident pooch. I stayed for 3 weeks and felt comfortable and welcome. York overall is a very welcoming and beautiful place. You will love being close to the William and Red lake park, trails galore and Crystal graciously let me walk Jenner there almost everyday. Would stay again ...

I have a gorgeous 2 bedroom apartment on the second floor in a beautiful family friendly residential community. I am an Internal Medicine resident physician looking to post up my second bedroom for either long term or short term visitors (visiting resident physicians and applicants that will be interviewing at Wellspan York Hospital). Others that are also visiting York, PA are more than welcomed to stay at my place as well.
The neighborhood is very quiet and serene. The development is filled with families and is absolutely safe.
  • Sundeep was an amazing host. The place was just as described. He event left us some snacks and water in the room for us. There is a designated parking spot for us to use anytime through out the day. The apartment was very welcoming and clean. Would love to use the space again when I'm in the area.
