  • The cottage is wonderful - gorgeously quaint and quirky with a beautiful and elegant mezzanine bedroom, cosy and comfy lounge area, well equipped, new kitchen and shower room. We had a delightful stay. The addition of wireless internet would make it perfect!

  • This is the first time staying here and we couldn’t of asked for anything better. Michael was very warm welcoming and gave plenty of information on where we could go to visit. The cottage itself was sparkling clean and the log burner was a brilliant extra. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you for a brilliant weekend

  • A lovely hideaway in the countryside. The wood burner was fantastic after returning home from a walk in a blizzard! Very nicely furnished and a lovely cosy cottage feel about it. Top Tip: Take slippers. The floors can be cold on your feet in winter.

  • Michael was very welcoming, he provided us with lots of recommendations regarding where to walk / eat and drink. Cannot fault the cleanliness of the cottage. Perfect location just off of the A68 with plenty to do in the surrounding area. You won't be dissapointed.

  • Just home from a two night stay with my friend. Despite the weather we’ve had a lovely couple of days in the cottage; the log burner and alpacas were a particular highlight for us! Hope to come back 😊

    Ashley2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy cottage with all you need for a relaxing getaway in the countryside. A couple of maintenance issues were dealt with promptly so that our stay was not affected. Would stay again.

  • We loved the cottage - a very warm welcome from Michael and great tips for local pubs and walks. Just what we needed.

  • A very well made and insulated shepherds hut with a stylish interior. Even in Storm Dennis we felt warm & cosy. A lovely little get away in the countryside and andrew made us very welcome. He even let us feed the sheep and see his workshop where he builds his Shepherd Huts.

    Clare2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, small and compact but has everything you need. Great host and even let my boy hand feed the sheep. We stayed during the last storm, was still nice and warm. Defo recommend, and we’ll more than likely re visit.

    Samantha2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Blue Hut was a fantastic get away, Andrew was brilliant left us to have our own space but was there to help when we needed it. He let us check out later on the Sunday as he had no one else arriving and there was a bad storm which was really nice of him. The Hut is really well designed myself my partner and our dog Bodhi enjoyed every minute of our stay. Definitely recommend staying here.

(Dogs must be pre agreed and is an additional £20 per pet, per stay). Garden Cottage is a quaint and tranquil barn conversion, located in the heart of the beautiful Northumberland Countryside. The cottage boasts beautiful views near and far. The cottage has many windows which takes great advantage of the beautiful surroundings, looking on to the peaceful country views, court yard and paddocks. We also have an occasional barn owl.
WE ARE VERY RURAL WITH NO COVID-19 REPORTS IN THE AREA. Due to the low price I do not offer tea and coffee however, I do supply bare essentials and a few additional extras such as: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toilet roll, washing liquid as well as towels etc. I don’t supply oil in the kitchen. Garden Cottage offers something for everyone, whether it is a romantic break, business or for walking/cycling. The living, landing area and sleeping areas are very spacious and clean as well as a large garden to relax in on those sunny days. There is a sofa bed in the bedroom upstairs, which will sleep 2 people. Note: the sofa bed is a little smaller than a double bed. A small warning: The bathroom is very small, consisting of a toilet, sink and walk in shower (wet room). There is no bath. The bathroom has a glass door, which has an opaque covering and is to the side of the kitchen. The heating is turned off in the cottage during May - October. The heating will be turned on in circumstances where it is unusually cold. It's important that guests are comfortable at all times. The garden is shared. With the garden to the left belonging to the cottage and the garden on the right (containing the summer house) belonging to the farm house. As a rule and for optimum privacy, it is rare that we use the garden when we have guests, but we may use the double gates to the side of the farm house, from time to time. Whilst I allow children and infants, I don’t have any specific supplies for children and infants. For example; baby gate, changing area, cot, high chair etc
Garden Cottage is situated in the middle of country side, but within easy reach of the A68 for anyone wanting to go on any expeditions by car! There are many public footpaths to take advantage of, as well as the beautiful garden and stunning views at the Cottage itself. There are many places to visit in the surrounding areas so it is advised that guests wanting to explore should spend more than one night at our cottage. Discovering the historical landmarks at Beamish Hexham Hadrians Wall Northumberlandia Derwent walk Derwent reservoir Slaley forest Blanchland medieval village Corbridge A secure store can be provided for anyone who would like to bring a bike however, guests use our storage facilities at their own risk. The owners of Garden Cottage take no responsibility for any losses or damage whilst using our storage facilities. There are also some lovely local pubs, including the Manor House Inn, which is only 2 miles from the Cottage. This can also be accessed on foot. Travelling further afield, the Anchor Inn is also a good quality, local pub. The Manor House Inn is popular so be sure to book in advance if you’re planning to eat at the Manor House Inn. Visiting Wheelbirks ice cream parlour is also a must for some traditional pub grub as well as freshly made, decadent ice cream! The farm is approximately 15 minutes away from Garden Cottage. If you are wanting a spa day to fully relax, you can visit Slaley hall where you can book yourself In to a spa day! They also have golf!

  • Rachael's place is a great way to explore the surrounding area! It's warm and cosy, there's plenty of room, and the little kitchen was well-stocked with pans and utensils, which we found really useful. The surroundings are beautiful, and there's a great local pub within easy walking distance. Communication was super-swift and friendly. Thanks for a great stay!

The house had everything we needed and the kitchen was well stocked. Rachael was a great host, friendly and with excellent communication. We definitely recommend!

  • I cannot recommend enough and will certainly return! Rachael was super helpful from the moment we booked, giving us lots of great recommendations of things to do and welcoming us on arrival. The cottage itself is sparkling clean with plenty of space, cosy and in a lovely location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, particularly relaxing and watching the horses from the window in the evenings - we couldn't have asked for a better trip! Thank you again!

  • Great host, beautiful place close enough to amenities but far enough to enjoy the peace and quiet. Quirky spacious cottage with everything you need. Comfy sofas and bed. A gorgeous spot to watch the sun rise too - the perks of traveling with a toddler! We'll definitely be back and hopefully get to see the horses next time! Xxx

  • Quarry Barn is a lovely getaway in the perfect location! Michael & June were very responsive to messages and Michael greeted us upon arrival with some great tips and dog friendly recommendations for the local area! The Derwent Manor Hotel was within walking distance (great for a few drinks) and Derwent Reservoir was just 10 mins in the car. The barn was spotlessly clean and decorated throughout to a high standard. We hope to stay again in future!

    Azrael2020-03-09T00:00:00Z

  • What a lovely hideaway Carlene's place is! We were house hunting around Lanchester and Wolsingham and it was perfectly located for us. We had snow, sleet and the very windy Storm Jorge during our short stay but The Annexe was super cosy! We loved it so much that after a long day of house viewings we opted for a bottle of wine and a takeaway for night 2. We didnt use the kitchen but can say that it was really well equipped. Bed is super comfy (we only used the one in the upper open plan area) - it is just a great place all round. Carlene was a lovely host and responded to all my questions and enquiries really quickly, we met and had a chat, she's lovely. If she'll have us, we will be back!

    Sharon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit here and we all loved it! Amazing if you have children as there are toys and games. Nice setting in the countryside but close to so many places. We will be back.

  • A wonderful place to stay. Beautiful countryside location as well as a very stylish and homely space. Beautifully clean and great communication with host. I would happily recommend to others and would come back to stay again.

    Hayley2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing value for money! The Annex was sparkling clean, perfectly equipped and for us, was in an ideal location. As it was the festive period when we visited, Carlene had taken the time to decorate the property which was a really nice touch. A lovely modern properly with a real homely feel. Thank you.

    Hazel2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nigel is an outstanding host who is very knowledgeable about the area and incredibly hospitable. Don't let the distance from the nearby cities impact your decision to stay as here because it is well worth it.

  • We spent one night at Nigel’s en route to Newcastle Airport. Very comfortable and clean accommodation and Nigel’s hospitality was 5 stars. Brilliant value for money. Thank you!

  • Nigel is the perfect host, I only wish the star rating was higher than 5!! Nigel was thoughtful, helpful and made my stay (which was for a course) wonderful. The breakfasts were so lovely, little touches like flowers, bottled water and fruit in the room were just amazing. Fantastic value for money, such a lovely clean house. Nigel even let me do my clothes washing there. All in all it was a much better stay than any hotel I have been in. If I need to stay up in consett again I will definitely be booking with nigel.

    Jo2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Nigel was very nice and helpful. He cooked me breakfast every morning and even cooked me lunch and dinner once. He was very helpful in giving me information about the area.

    Stewart2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Without a doubt, the best stay I have ever booked. Nigel is an incredible host who goes above and beyond to make your time at his wonderful property amazing. His place is spotless, warm and cozy. The location is perfect for public transport and local amenities, which Nigel cheerfully directed me to. There is so many lovely points, I could go on and on, therefore I couldn't recommend this booking highly enough. This place is home from home and a real diamond of a stay. Would definitely book again.

We live downstairs and use the upstairs for family and guests to stay whenever they like. We think it's a really nice space to come back to and relax after a day walking in the surrounding country side or visiting one of the nearby towns an cities.
Shotley Bridge is in the beautiful Derwent Valley and our home is in walking distance of both Shotley and Medomsley villages - both have a local pub and restaurant. The house overlooks the Derwent Walk a 10 mile former railway which is now available to pedestrians, cycles, horses and dogs. It winds up the valley from Swalwell to Consett and also forms part of the Coast to Coast cycle route. Nearby attractions include the Derwent Reservoir, Tanfield Railway and Beamish Museum all within a 15 min drive. Consett town centre with a range of local amenities is 10 minutes in the car and Durham and Newcastle city centres can be reached in about half an hour.
  • What a lovely stay! Fantastic hosts - nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately the boiler broke on the second day - simply bad luck and no ones fault. They handled it beautifully - not only did they take every step possible to make sure I would be comfortable with no heating, they offered me a partial refund, and the issue will obviously be fixed by the time someone else stayed. I’ll definitely be staying there the next time I’m in the north, and a huge thank you to Rosie and her husband for taking such good care of me while I was there.

  • This is my third stay with Rosie and Paul so I knew exactly what was in store, and of course I wasn’t disappointed. Their customary warmth shines through, such kindness and unstinting attention ensure a wonderful stay. Beautiful home, immaculate as always, comfortable and with the fullest of full breakfasts included, I look forward to my next stay.

  • Rosie & Paul are wonderful and very generous hosts. The accomodation is warm and inviting and is the whole of the top floor of the house, It is in a handy location to Shotley Bridge. The bathroom is small albeit practical full of supplies in case you needed something. The shower is wonderfully warm with lots of water pressure. The breakfasts were huge, freshly cooked and served. Rosie & Paul warmly invited us into their house we highly recommend their accomodations and would love to return sometime in the future.

  • Fantastic place and wonderful hosts!

    Gerard2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rosie & Paul are fantastic hosts and the place is perfect with loads of space. We were welcomed just like extended family. If you are reading this then I can not recommend a better B&B that we've ever stayed at So, if the location fits then don't look any further and book and you wont be dissapointed. It's on the main bus route so again well placed. We will be back again very soon.

    Andrew2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying with Rosie and Paul, and as impossible as it seems, they made our stay even better than last time! So may thoughtful touches: plenty of toiletries should you get caught short, lovely bottle of prosecco, cheese board, a breakfast fit for a king and first class treatment from our lovely host. The flat is spotlessly clean and has everything you could possibly need. I can’t recommend Rosie and Paul’s place enough!

    Ann2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • A very warm welcome, amazing breakfast and three large rooms, two of which are bedrooms plus the lounge/TV room - very comfortable.

    Malcolm2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • We immediately felt welcome at Rosie and Paul's home. What a wonderful hostess and host. Nice top floor and if you have wishes that is arranged. (Bretzel hmm tasty) We really felt welcome and at home in Shotley Bridge. If there had been six stars I would have awarded him. SUPERHOST with capital letters !!! Thank you very much xx

  • Robert's place was great. Everything was clean. There is no wifi however this is not an issue as the mobile signal in the home is strong so can easily hotspot off your phone if needed. I would definitely stay again if im in the area.

These would include: •Beamish Museum (12 miles; a must see!!) •The Roman (Hadrian's) Wall (There are a lot of different sites; around 20 miles) •Durham City (17 miles) •Hexham (18 miles) •Newcastle (18 miles) •Kilhope Lead mining Museum (22 miles) •The Metro Centre (15 miles, shop 'til you drop) •Derwent Reservoir (5 miles) •Bowes Museum (28 miles) •Raby Castle (22 miles) •Cragside Hall (45 miles)

Following the success of our shepherd's hut on Airbnb, we have decided to list some of our holiday cottages as well ! Our Dairy cottage has a double room and a twin room, a modern bathroom, and a cosy living/dining/kitchen area with TV/DVD and a wood burning stove ----- the stove is just for fun, there is gas central heating as well to keep it toasty warm. Set on a working sheep farm, the cottage is a great base for local attractions like Beamish Museum, Durham and Hadrian's wall.

  • Situated on a sheep farm in the peaceful, quiet, and beautiful countryside of the North Pennines, the Derwent Grange Cottage was a perfect base from which to explore County Durham, the North Pennines, and the towns and sites along Hadrian’s Wall. Attending the Northumberland County Show which happened to coincide with our stay was a plus. The grange is so convenient to A68, and the fascinating city of Durham to the south and the historic towns of Hexham and Corbridge to the north. You won’t run out of things todo including spectacular walks! The hosts are extremely hospitable and attentive to requests or questions. The cottage was sparkling clean and and the kitchen well equipped for full meal preparation. We were very comfortable. If you are looking for an authentic setting on a working sheep farm, this is your place. Interaction with the sheep, 3 horses, and sheep dogs is not required but recommended! This is a great place.

  • As described, spacious, clean and cosy place. We liked the clear and concise communication. Although we didn't use it as such, we noticed how well equipped the kitchen is. We were worried about the warmth of the place however absolutely unnecessary as it has central heating in each room including the bathroom so it was pleasantly warm everywhere. Lovely sparkly clean duvet covers as well.

This is an unique original railway cottage of the original features to include the original railway platform at the bottom of the garden. A magical place to switch off and tune into nature. Situated on the Red Kite Trail.
Our little hamlet is perfect for a quiet get away from it all. We do allow 1 small dog. We do offer a Wood fired hot tub for an extra fee purely for 2 adults. Our Wood fired hot tub is powered solely by the logs we supply for you at the cottage. Working with nature instead of against it. It is a great addition to the Rural Retreat experience. We do aim depending on the weather and temperatures to have the hot tub ready for you to experience on your arrival. If you wish to carry on the hot tub experience the following day and would love to try the experience at your leisure we leave this for you to decide. We do have instructions to assist you with this. Please note when booking the cottage unless stated as a special offer to include the hot tub. You will be paying only for the cottage and please do enquire if you were possibly wanted to add the hot tub for an extra small fee
Its a peaceful place where you can really tune into nature. It is situated on the red kite trail. The coast to coast route comes through this area. The cottage is situated on the Derwent Walk it was built in 1860 and is the only original cottage situated in lintz green. The original railway platform is situated at the bottom of the garden. Gibside National Trust is just a 5 minute drive or you could walk or cycle to it from the cottage. Gibside is extremely popular and if you visit its website you wiil see what events it hosts. Every Friday and Saturday evening it is open for drinks and it serves woodfired pizzas popular events include the buskers evenings. There are a number of walks around this area if you visit the Woodland Trust website and put in the cottages postcode this will show you walks. Or if you prefer to explore freely by yourself. Beamish open air museum is just a 20 minute drive away when you join you will receive a pass which gives you unlimited visits for 1 year. Popular with walkers and joggers the coast to coast cycle race and of course the great north run every September.
  • This is an absolute gem of a place! David and Lisa couldn't be more accommodating. They met us at the property and explained all the essentials we needed to know and pointed us to the helpful information that they had left in a folder to look through. The cottage is wonderful, traditional with a real fire, in a very quiet location and has everything you need in the kitchen and around the house for example blankets for keeping extra cosy with it being winter, although to be honest the house was plenty warm enough for us. The garden is lovely, and the hot tub was a real treat, we used it both evenings, and it was really easy to operate. The cottage backs onto the old railway track which I believe is part of the Derwent Walk, along with the Red Kite trail, and we saw plenty of Kites whilst we were there. You can walk in both directions along the track and there are lots of tracks off into the woods if you want to investigate. We loved spending time in the cosy cottage, playing some of the many games that were. We enjoyed walking and running from the property and had a brief trip to Newcastle which was only 25 mins away, also to Beamish Museum which is about 10-15 minutes away and would recommend a visit there. All in all we couldn't have asked for better hosts. They communicated regularly during and after booking and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. They went out of their way to make our stay the best it could be and we have a superb weekend. We would certainly recommend Dave & Lisa's place and are very likely to return in the future. Thank you!

  • Lovely small cosy cottage with lots of original features and very clean. Hosts are very welcoming and easily contactable. Great location for walks along the old railway lines.

    Amanda2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is a wonderful hideaway. Once you get to the end of the track to reach it, you could be anywhere in the world. David and Lisa are magnificent, attentive hosts and are there to help with anything. The wood fired hot tub was particularly special. We weren’t quite sure what to expect but it’s far better and more relaxing than the standard hot tubs, especially when it’s dark. Wow! Very special surrounded by stars, owl hoots and fairy lights. We will definitely be back.

  • Don’t let this little gem pass you by. It’s a beautiful little cottage that cuddles you in from the moment you get there. We made great memories and will definitely be going back.

    Andy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cosy cottage right on the Derwent Walk and Red Kite Trail so great location for walks! We really loved the rustic heating system which made the living room very cosy but also heated the whole house nicely, very attentive hosts, definitely recommend!

    Ellen2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A warm and cosy cottage awaits you along with a bottle of wine. The cottage is in a quiet location on the old railway line, a brilliant base to start your walk. Lisa and David were really helpful when asked various questions with regards to where to walk and eat. I would recommend this cottage as a relaxing retreat.

    Michelle2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We knew we would love Station Cottages, however, it far exceeded our expectations during our New Year stay. Lisa and Dave met us on arrival, having been excellent and attentive communicators throughout. They clearly take pride in their place and showed us how everything worked, including the great log burner (it was easy really). The house was cosy and set perfectly in a quiet location away from major roads. Be careful to not speed past or you'll miss the Private Road turning. We relaxed more than we thought possible from the hot tub, to the myriad of birds who visited the garden (inc. a woodpecker!), to the local walks and pub restaurants for extra meals. If you get there and don't want to drive, the taxi companies will easily find you (Burnopfield or Dean's Taxis). Station Cottage is the whole package, we will go again and thoroughly recommend you do.

    Tarique2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant cottage. Comfy and snug, easy to relax and then have a dip in the hot tub. Real fire, snuggly bedding, all the amenities and the joy of a clear sky with no light pollution and all you can hear is the occasional owl.

The hot tub is a MANUAL wood fired hot tub with a stunning view!
I do not offer tea and coffee however, I do supply essentials and a few additional extras such as: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toilet roll, washing liquid as well as towels etc. I don’t supply cooking oil in the kitchen. The hot tub is a wood fired hot tub. This means that guests will be required to heat it. Unlike an electric hot tub, the wood fired hot tub takes just between 2 1/2 - 3 hours to heat to 40C from a 5 degree starting temperature. Heating the tub couldn't be easier and the insulated cover will help to maintain the heat. We chose a wood fired hot tub because you just cannot beat the authenticity of a hot tub heated by a log burning stove with the amazing views that we have. On the day of check out, the hot tub will be drained at 8am. The heating is turned off in the cottage during May - October. The heating will be turned on in circumstances where it is unusually cold. The garden is shared. With the garden to the left belonging to the cottage and the garden on the right (containing the summer house) belonging to the farm house. As a rule of thumb when guests are at the cottage, we do not use the garden. We may use the double gates from time to time, which are near the farm house. Whilst I allow children and infants, I don’t have any specific supplies for children and infants. For example; baby gate, changing area, cot, high chair etc
Garden Cottage is situated in the middle of country side, but within easy reach of the A68 for anyone wanting to go on any expeditions by car! There are many public footpaths to take advantage of, as well as the beautiful garden and stunning views at Garden Cottage itself. There are many places to visit in the surrounding areas so it is advised that guests wanting to explore should spend more than one night at Garden Cottage. The owners of Fine House Cottage take no responsibility for any losses or damage whilst using our storage facilities. There are also some lovely local pubs, including the Manor House Inn, which is only 2 miles from Garden Cottage. Travelling further afield, the Anchor Inn is also a good quality, local pub. The Manor House Inn is popular so be sure to book in advance if you’re planning to eat at the Manor House Inn. This can also be accessed on foot, using the public footpaths outside the farm. For the golfers, Slaley Hall also have a golf course!

  • Jane's home was absolutely fantastic! It's a very cosy spot in a neighbourhood filled with the friendliest people. It's a very spacious home that accommodated 5 guests very well. They have all the amenities we needed - in working condition. The view and maintenance from the backyard was superb. Jane and Tony were readily available to help or offer advise on everything. The house guide provided on check in was very clear and informative. It covered everything from bus routes to local eats around the area. The parking space for guests in the airbnb was suitable for 2 cars, and maybe another if you decide to have guests over for a meal. I would definitely recommend this home. Another big thank you to Jane and Tony for extending their hospitality.

    Adam2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was just perfect. Cosy and lovely decor, really comfy beds and a well arranged space for a family. It rained so we didn’t get to use the garden but it was so pretty. Jane responded to all my messages promptly and even a call from my mother!! This is a great space for a family of five to come for a getaway and explore the local area. Lots to do on the doorstep. Thank you Jane.

    Katy2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Tony are great hosts are always there to help with anything if needed. The house has all the essentials and more, beds are super comfy. This is our second stay here and we will definitely be back again.

    Deborah2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home from home with everything we needed for our stay. Comfortable beds, plenty of space and a well equipped kitchen. The house was a couple of minutes from a main road which made visiting the area very easy.

    Ian2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house, with everything you could possibly need. The bed in the main bedroom was super comfy and we loved looking at all the quirky books on the huge bookshelf. Thoroughly enjoyed our little break away. Thanks so much hopefully we will be back soon x The Hutchings Family x

  • We've just returned from 3 nights at Jane's property. Communication before we visited was prompt and helpful and Jane sent really detailed and helpful instructions for arrival. Although we arrived quite late, Jane came out to meet us and show us around the house. The house is really lovely. It's so tastefully decorated, cosy and full of character. Jane had left tea, coffee and milk which was really helpful given that we arrived late. The cottage had everything you could need and was spotlessly clean. The street itself had a real community feel, typical of this part of the world and very special. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of fluffy towels. The cottage is also in a lovely area. A short walk away is a brilliant bakery/patisserie where you can buy amazing bread/cakes or have something to eat. We also ate at an Italian restaurant in Hamsterley Colliery - a short walk in the other direction - and the food was freshly cooked, piping hot and delicious. Everything about this weekend was perfect. We have family in the area and will definitely stay at this property again. It is very special and we would really recommend it. Thank you, Jane, for being so helpful and giving us such a great weekend.

My place is close to parks, restaurants and dining, great views, and art and culture. You’ll love my place because of the cosiness, the views, the location, and the people. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), big groups, and Dog Owners. (Dogs additional £10 per night per dog please advise at time of booking)
Although we are quite rural we are only 20 minutes drive from the city of Durham and 30 minutes from Newcastle and Gateshead. We have joined with Beamish museum to offer a discount voucher for the entrance fee. We are 15 drive from Beamish museum.
We are situated just off the A68 which is the main road to Edinburgh so easily accessible. Our nearest train station is Durham only 19km away and nearest airport is Newcastle only 30km. The Metrocentre, Europe’s largest shopping centre is a mere 20km and offers free parking! From there you can get the Metro into the beautiful diverse city centre of Newcastle in as little as 5minutes with no cost of parking or stress of city centre driving! The historic Quayside is in the city centre too with the incredible Sage Gateshead and the millennium bridge. Durham city centre is also a mere 12km with the picturesque Durham cathedral. All of this and so much more on our doorstep.

  • Lovely house, couldn’t improve anything overall. Local & great location

    Emily2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A really delightful cottage in the country.

    Robin2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We live locally and booked the cottage for Mum and Nanna to stay and it fitted the bill perfectly. A great place to stay whether you want to explore the local area, like to hike or just want to chill. Very peaceful place, enjoyed watching the swallows swooping on a morning. The facilities are very good with a full kitchen including a washer and tumble drier. Bathroom with walk in shower. Two good size double bedrooms and a cozy living room. The cottage is modern and finished to a high standard. Down side is that public transport links aren’t fantastic in the area and it is a long walk down the drive and then a busy country road if you don’t drive. Nearest shop is a 5 min drive. If you drive then this place is within a 5 min drive of National Trust Gibside and 15 mins to The Metro Centre. Beckie was a great host, she was quick to respond to any questions or problems we had and her cottage is a lovely little retreat that we would use again.

Following the success of our shepherd's hut on Airbnb, we have decided to list some of our holiday cottages as well ! Our Garden cottage has a double room and another room with 3x single beds. There is a bathroom with a bath/shower, a kitchen and a living/dining room with TV/DVD ---- heating is electric night storage heaters. Set on a working sheep farm, the cottage is a great base for local attractions like Beamish Museum, Durham and Hadrian's wall.
Things to do. Using Derwent Grange as a base, there are a large number of attractions and places of interest to explore in the North East of England. These would include: •Beamish Museum (12 miles; a must see!!) •The Roman (Hadrian's) Wall (There are a lot of different sites; around 20 miles) •Durham City (17 miles) •Hexham (18 miles) •Newcastle (18 miles) •Kilhope Lead mining Museum (22 miles) •The Metro Centre (15 miles, shop 'til you drop) •Derwent Reservoir (5 miles) •Bowes Museum (28 miles) •Raby Castle (22 miles) •Cragside Hall (45 miles)

A gorgeous 2 bedroom terrace. Shared with myself. Beautiful warm fire place in cosy living room. Full use of kitchen facilities.
I live in a small community, everyone is very friendly, but you will need a car to get around. The nearest shop and pub are both about a 15 minute walk away. There are some beautiful countryside walks right on the doorstep though!
  • Warm and friendly, comprehensive instructions.

  • Cosy, clean room with friendly host and great communication was perfect for my visit for a family wedding at South Causey Inn.

  • Can’t say a negative word against Robyn’s home, it was warm throughout, my room was absolutely fine, communications with Robyn were excellent, she answered straight away especially with my late arrival where there was detailed step by step directions, entry to the home and guidance to my room. I will definitely return, thanks Robyn

  • Highly recommend Robyn's place. Cosy, inviting and she was very welcoming.

  • A very comfortable space, with cats! Robyn was very friendly and left helpful instructions for check-in. She was away the first night but I was fine home alone. The location is quiet, rural and convenient with a car, but recommend to park at the bottom of the street as it is narrow and would be tricky to turn around in.

Whatever your getaway, this is your perfect rural retreat in the heart of the Great British Countryside. Dogs (dogs additional £10 per night per dog) please advise at time of booking
  • Great accommodation, great value and a lovely location. Couldn’t have asked for more. We loved visiting Derwent Reservoir, ideal for walking the dog and the cafe was amazing. The owners also helped us out on Friday night when we had an issue and couldn’t have been more helpful. Highly recommend this accommodation!

  • We had a fantastic time at Cottage number 2. It’s located a short drive from Hamsterley and Derwent Reservoir, which was great for biking and dog walks. The cottage it’s self was beautifully decorated and a good size. The main bedroom was very spacious, with the second bedroom big enough for two singles close together. Lynn had provided everything you could possibly need for your stay, we even made a cheesecake! On our arrival there was a lovely doggie welcome pack and all the essentials needed for our first night/morning there. We really couldn’t have asked for anything else. We’ll definitely be returning!

  • The cottage was exactly as described.. very clean, comfortable and well equipped. We had a lovely stay and visited Killhope Lead Mining Museum and Beamish, both excellent. Would definitely recommend the cottage and would love to visit again.

  • This is one of three beautiful cottages near Knitsley, nestling in beautiful countryside. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. It is comfortable and very well appointed. Lynn was helpful and quick to respond to queries. We can recommend the cottage to anyone visiting the region looking for a relaxing, peaceful base from which to explore. We are hoping to return soon.
