Places to stay in Selebi Phikwe
The entire house is available to the guest without sharing - price per person. This pretty 3 bedroom self catering house is set in a peaceful and secure garden where you can relax and enjoy the birds. It is ideally situated at the gateway to Botswana being 90 minutes from the Martins Drift border post, 60 minutes from the Tuli Block and 90 minutes from the Khama Rhino Sanctuary plus 2 beautiful dams close by. Daily cleaning of the house is available on request for an additional charge.
  • This property worked perfectly for us as a border stop over from Botswana to South Africa. Mary’s place was clean and as hoped for with the addition of a lovely garden space. Thank you.

  • Lovely place in a very good position , Thanks for everything guys .

  • If you’re looking for extravagance and tech niceties such as Wi-Fi, Smart TVs and aluminum finished French door Fridges coupled with voice recognition then I’m sorry to say this humble abode is not for you. However, if you’re looking for a cozy, clean and low profile retreat that Ernest Hemingway himself would be proud to call home, even for a night then I highly recommend this astounding dwelling. In all my years of travelling, and routinely checking in at 5 Star resorts and sorry excuses for BnB’s alike, I have never- and I mean this with the upmost sincerity, been more satisfied with my stay. To say I got value for my money doesn’t begin to scratch the surface. As for my host on this particular trip, the lovely Mary, I can only describe her as a rarity and an incredible ambassador for the beautiful town of Phikwe and its amazing people. She is a genuinely caring human being with a larger than life spirit, incredible sense of humor and an even more eccentric desire to make her guests feel welcome, so much so that if I wasn’t a decent judge of character I would have mistaken her compassion for disingenuousness, the woman went out of her way to insure that my stay was pleasant. I’d gladly go back to Phikwe for nothing else but the hospitality I received. My advice to anyone would be not to think twice about staying here.

  • Mary's apartment is sparkling clean & it is as it appears on the pictures. It's walking distance to the restaurants, bus terminal, park & easily accessible to local taxis. I stayed at Mary's place with two of my friends for the annual Orange Selibe-Phikwe Marathon, & Mary was kind enough to allow us extra four hours to bath and rest at no extra cost. The apartment is HIGHLY recommended

  • This is a comfortable home with a beautiful garden in Selebi Phikwe. A great base for a work or pleasure trip. Mary's communication is excellent and very welcoming. Super experience!

  • It was truly home away from home, amazing house with great outside scenery. I strongly recommend it for anyone who want to enjoy their stay in Phikwe.

Shimane, the manager, is always available for other requests, a night drive, fishing etc. and after 28 years on the farm is delighted to share his local knowledge. The Farm is 750 hectares of peaceful bushveld with a boundary of 3.5 kms of Limpopo River abounding with natural game and more than 300 species of birds. It is safe to walk. The Lotsane River also runs diagonally through the farm. Robyn Scott wrote a very interesting book about growing up on the farm "Twenty Chickens for a Saddle" It is 500 kms (6 hours drive) from Joburg through the Groblers Bridge/Martins Drift border post, or 350 kms (4 hours drive) from Gaborone. Limited cellphone signal. THE LAST REVIEW THAT WAS TOO LATE TO BE ADDED UNDER REVIEWS! Hello Kaye We are back in the U.K after the most wonderful holiday in Botswana. I was really disappointed to find I was too late to leave a review - I had no idea there was a time limit. Apparently though I can give you a reference, which i would very much like to do, but you have to send a reference request from your profile page. I have left a reply on my profile page - thank you so much for your comments. We had such a special time on Molope Farm, neither of us could believe our luck! Wide open spaces, amazing hospitality and so many interesting things to see, not to mention 5 star luxury. Richard has recounted about you arriving on my birthday with the warm bread on your decorated electric buggy, to about 20 people already. My favourite bit though was walking the dogs! Thank you so much again for my birthday meal - I certainly won't forget where I spent my 50 th. We had wonderful rhino viewing in the Rhino sanctuary, Ngepi was just lovely - we splashed out and stayed in a tree house. On the way up there we managed to find Kubu Island. We were able then to drive up north via gweta. On the way up to Ngepi we stayed at Guma Camp on the delta and Drifters just outside Maun. We then came back down and stayed at Grasslands Lodge. They have a family of San Bushmen who have lived and worked on their reserve for many years. The morning walk with them and then evening bushman dance was so interesting. The young couple who hosted us were very nice and really interesting -she grew up in the area and could understand enough of the bushmen language to translate. They were just covering for her uncle for a few weeks at the lodge and are setting up their own camp up near shakawe. They have just advertised it on airbnb, so that's on my list for next time. We spent the last couple on nights in khutse game reserve camping. Hope you have a really great stay in Melbourne. All the best Kath ### Airbnb ### ANOTHER REVIEW THAT WAS TOO LATE FOR THE AIRBNB SYSTEM Hello Kae, A bit of a late reaction. We stayed at your fantastic place Oct 4, 3 nights (while you were in Australia) . We have very little time and/or opportunity to write reviews while traveling 5 weeks. For other booking sites we usually get more time on returning, on request. We know Airbnb doesn't do that so we decided to review during our trip. Unfortunately our Pc broke down and stupid Airbnb required a confirmation....using our home phone number because our smartphone we used instead was an "unrecognized device". So we were unable to review and read yours. If you like, we saw you did something similar for another guest, you can add a link to our website ic2 com (I can not post a full link I think but I'll try in the end). Go to Travel Tips, Africa, Botswana and you'll find our detailed info about the great place. We hope to return soon! Best regards, Dick & Elke van Kooten
It is a very peaceful natural environment for those that want to leave the worries of the world behind. Relax by the beautiful pool etc.
  • Malope Farm is a beautiful place to stay. It has amazing views on the river and a gorgeous tree house. The guesthouse were we stay was perfectly cleaned and had all the accommodation we could think of or need. The staff is very friendly and helped us during our stay. We highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to be in a very natural setting.

  • We would like to recommend this farm accommodation to this little paradise on the edge of the Limpopo River only for those who want peace and seclusion. Inconspicuously on the edge of a gravel road far away from the next village, a hostess Kae is waiting for you with her small lodge that will enchant you .... the accommodation is a dream to see for yourself Thank Kae and Staff and the dogs see you all again

  • A stay at Kae's place is very special! Kae is a warm and welcoming host and her cottage at Molope Farm is perfect for anyone looking for a place to unwind and relax. The cottage is set among beautiful surroundings and has excellent amenities, including an outdoor shower for those wanting to embrace the spectacular scenery on offer. Morning walks and afternoon game drives are an added bonus - we will certainly be back!

  • We have often booked our accommodations at Airbnb and have always been very satisfied. But the stay at Kaes Farm made us completely happy. We enjoyed every moment we were allowed to spend with Kae and her co-workers. The common walks over the farm in the morning, the great breakfast, the fantastic animal observations. the attentive help and support from Kae, Maria, Shimane, Joseph and the others made the holiday for us an unforgettable experience! Our thanks go to Jackie, Lucy, Bobby and Angel. We miss you! We are now listening to the praise because we would like to return and do not want other guests of Airbnb to provide us with all the dates.

  • Kae's Limpopo River Bush Retreat is a real paradise. We plan to return to spend at least a week. The lodge is so well appointed with an interesting library of books from Botswana and Africa. We loved our evening fires, lounging by the pool, and the morning walk about with Joseph and the dogs. Our stay had a perfect amount of walking and biking activity mixed with relaxing and reading time in such a picturesque setting. We were able to view quite a bit of wild life as well as birds in the varied terrain between the lodge and the Limpopo River. Shimane and Maria were gracious hosts and Maria's breakfasts were delicious.

  • Just back from a fantastic adventure with my dad in Botswana, basing ourselves at Molope. Molope was just what we were looking for - all the amenities one could ask for in a beautifully appointed farm with a real tough of Africa. Sadly Kae was overseas whilst we were there but her local staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, taking us on morning walks around the farm, telling us about the local area and making sure everything went smoothly. Breakfast was delicious and the food store on site meant that there was no need for a supermarket shop. The farm area is great for exploring whether by foot, bike or 4x4 with all sorts of wildlife to see. The hippo was definitely the highlight! We even camped by the river on our last night. Kae was also extremely helpful in helping us plan our trip with recommendations of other things to do in the area (we did a walking safari in Mashatu that is also highly recommended). We couldn't have asked for more!

  • Kae made us very welcome and her directions to get to her farm were excellent. The accomodation was first class with a lovely self contained cottage in the grounds, near the fab swimming pool and the lapa, where we had breakfast each morning, prepared by the delightful Maria.Fruit grown on the farm, home made bread and marmalade made it a lovely start to the day. We went for walks each morning accompanied by Joseph and the lovely dogs. He was excellent at pointing out the animals spoor and showing us their trail, down to the Limpope river to see Crocs and Hippos and lots of beautiful birds. Shimane took us on game drives early evening, we had sundowners at the treehouse watching animals coming to the waterhole. In the evenings we were able to light a fire in the firepit and barbequed meat and chicken purchased from Kae plus a fresh supply of vegetables. It was great to hear from Kae all about the farm and her amazing life in Botswana. We have been to many smart lodges in Africa and Molope is amongst the best and by far the most natural.

  • After a delayed flight and two long days of travel Kae's place was very welcome. She and Shimane welcomed us not as guests but as friends. They took really good care of us. Kae is this warm person who cares about so many things and people and that made her such a lovely person. She gave us so many advice that we could use on our trip. Shimane took us for a few game drives and was very patient and had good eyes for seing animals. After a game drive we could take a dive in the swimming pool which was refreshing in a hot day like that. In the mornings we had the best breakfast a person could wish for (everything was organic and healthy: the bread with fish paste and the cookies with homemade lemonjam were my favorites). The best part of the breakfast were Kae's stories. We didn't really bring provisions, but the good thing was that Kae had a shop where we could buy some meat, bread and vegetables to prepare for ourselves. If it were up to me I never would have left that place.
