Vacation Rentals in Germany

Just booked in Sauerthal

My accommodation is close to Rheinsteig, castles, railway station, excursion boats, small restaurants, Wiesbaden, Mainz and Koblenz, Loreley open-air stage, summer funicular, vineyards, cycle paths and many other attractions. Our family-friendly and homely decor will please you and you will feel good from the beginning. Every guest is WELCOME.
Located in the heart of the world cultural heritage of the Middle Rhine Valley, you will find everything your heart desires. We are located in one of the most beautiful holiday regions of Germany. You will find water, forests, bicycle paths, hiking trails, excursion boats, cableways and many other attractions in a density that seeks such. You can also make a good vacation without a car with us, because everything is also easy to reach by train. We are always asked why we go on holiday. With us, it is so beautiful that you do not want to go away. We are located off the railway line and thus quiet nights are given.
Kaub is a small, dreamy little town on the Middle Rhine. Here one still knows oneself and takes part in the fate of the fellow citizens. In the ostrich farms one slips, so that everyone finds a place. A nice conversation with Manfred and Peter (our Aunt-Emma-Shop) is often helpful and informative. Kaub also has a good gastronomy. From good middle-class to sophisticated you will find all the facets of gastronomy. There is a baker who also offers Sunday breakfast, or you can have breakfast with a friendly innkeeper.
  • Marion was an excellent host! The house and the service were above expectations. The area is great, lots of history, outdoor activities, beautiful landscape, we highly recommend it. Great area for all ages! The rooms were very comfortable, all super clean, the kitchen is fully equiped. Marion even had some coffee and tea ready for us, brochures, and a lovely welcome with a couple of bottles of wine!

  • This house comfortably accommodated 8 people. It has 2 clean bathrooms and 4 comfortable bedrooms. We all fitted into the lounge. The kitchen is a good size and has microwave, coffee maker good fridge and dishwasher. It has good internet speed. The host was friendly and helpful. There are 2 good restaurants and a little supermarket close by. We had to park about 200 m up the road but it's free. We found it good value for money.

  • This may possibly be the best place we have ever stayed. Three floors, great kitchen and living room, perfect host who helped with suggestions. Tops!

  • Wonderful!! Marion is definitely a super host! She went out of her way to make sure we were well taken care of. We can say enough good things about her house! It's large spacious...our family of 7 was very comfortable. It was very clean and decorated nicely! Kaub is a wuiet little town and the house is less than a 10 minute walk from the train station and the boat dock to take a Rhine River cruise. We highly reccomend Marion's house and would love to stay again sometime. Thank you Marion for sharing your beautiful home with us!

  • We loved our stay in Kaub and hope to return one day. Marion was very helpful and friendly. She met us in town when we arrived and dropped us off at the train station in the morning. The place is beautiful, very spacious and very clean. We would definitely stay here again.

    Laurel2016-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • What an ideal place to stay along this area of the Rhein! Marion was waiting for us as we drove up, she even save a parking place for us (the small town has plenty, but she saved us the very closest spot). She has clearly put much love and care into her home. Description online is on the money, but the feeling of welcome cannot be described. We were so comfortable here we wanted to stay longer. You will not be disappointed.

    Bob2017-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a place ! We only used the place for one Night as a pitstop on our trip from Denmark to France, but when we arrived we absolutely wished to stay for a week! Very very nice service from the hosts, lovely warm welcome, and the place is of the Best luxury. In the morning, the host had even brought us fresh bread from the baker! The trip out to Kaub was a bit difficult as the Road by the river is closed, but its definitely worth it once you finally get there. Thank you so much Marion, for a perfect Night at your lovely place. Should I ever come near Kaub again, I wont stay any other place !

Casa Araldo is centrally located in the historical center of Kaub. Situated directly on the River Rhine, you can reach Palatinate-Grafenstein Castle, the Blücher Museum and the Gutenfels Castle, from where you have a wonderful view of the Rhine valley. The Rheinsteig can be reached within minutes. Local winegrowers, gastronomy and a wide range of cultural events will make your stay in Kaub an experience of a high standard.
The small apartment is housed in the back house of Casa Araldo. It is simply furnished and has everything it takes to relax for a few days and take a break. The bedroom itself is located in the sheltered area of the apartment. You sleep there wonderful & undisturbed. In the kitchen you will find everything to look after yourself. A private bathroom is at your disposal. We value nature protection! Our bed linen, towels, etc. we wash with certified organic detergents. The Middle Rhine Valley is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Germany - we find :-) -. We also ask our guests to be respectful of landscape, nature and animals. Right on the doorstep is the Kauber ferry. It will take you to the other side of the Rhine. Each 6 kilometers walk, you have it from there not far to Bacharach or Oberwesel. - Also a departure station Cologne-Dusseldorf is located in the immediate vicinity. With the steamer you can make trips to Boppard or Koblenz, where further attractive leisure activities await you. In any case: we wish you a wonderful stay. Do not be shy if you have questions about the accommodation or other leisure activities! There is a cat in our house. If you do not want cat "Nero" to stay in your accommodation, just close the door. A dog also lives with us here in the house. Both animals have no access to your apartment.
Our neighborhood consists of old established Kauber families. A conversation is always a special experience because our neighbors can tell a lot about the history of Kauber.
  • Sehr liebe und zuverlässige Gastgeberin! Tolle Wohnung! Jederzeit wieder!

Experience a breathtaking and charming Rhine panorama above the slate cladded roofs of an medieval town! The sun-dappeled former slate mine ist situated at the rocks underneath Castle Gutenfels, directly at the hiking trail "Rheinsteig". The property is part of the Unesco world heritage and a wildlife sanctuary. Enjoy the terrace, shaded with a vine bower, the mysterious cave entrance of the mine, the traditional herb garden, the secluded relaxing green and the bird´s eye view.
The guest house offers three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms (with shower and two seperate toilets), a completely equiped kitchen, a dining and living room , a terrace with a vine pergola, a herb garden and a lawn with mediterranean trees as almond, figs and peaches. The lawn is an ideal place for sunbathing, as it is the only and the highest garden level in the neighbourhood and you can not be seen from underneath. But you will have a great view on the river! One large sleeping room is in the studio under the roof and can be used as a family or group room by up to four persons (2 double beds). The other sleeping rooms offer one double bed each. A crib and a babies high chair are available. The property has been a slate-mine until 1869. The garden lies on the 'plane' spoil heap of the mine. Because of this the property is called 'The Plon' by the Kaubians. (From the garden it is possible to visit the adit mouth but ist is not allowed by minimg authorities to climb deeper into the rock.) For 150 years the house was owned by the local driggist family. They planted the herb garden with serveral sorts of thyme, rosemary, sage and much more species. The herbs can be taken by the guests for cooking and teas.
In walking distance and less than 5 - 10 min you wil reach teh grocery store, ths bakery, the pharmacy, an antic shop the nice small museum, as well as several restaurants, pubs anf wineries. The youth hostel and its bistro next door offer small meals and beverages nearly every time. Kaub is situated in the middle of the UNESCO world heritage an a perfect spot to explore all the sights. It is a picterous stop an your hiking trip along the 'Rheinsteig' route
  • Dirk's place is quiet and secluded overlooking Kaub and the river. It's a bit of a hike up there if you have bags - but worth the effort. The house has everything you could need and then some. A fully equipped kitchen and the most beautiful garden with fresh herbs and fruit that you can eat. Kaub isn't touristy like some of the other towns - the locals are lovely, tho not many speak English. Dirk was very responsive to all our requests and so hopeful to non native Germans. We would highly recommend staying here for a picturesque, relaxing Rhine experience.

    Naomi2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place overlooking the Rhine river! Close to ferries, free parking, and trains. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you for the warm welcome Dirk!

    Erika2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is beautifully done, very stylish with a cute garden and great views onto the Rhine. We stayed with our toddler daughter and it was all fine for her. We arrived much later than planned due to traffic but that was managed very nicely by Dirk. Kaub is a very peaceful village, a great place to relax and explore more of the area from.

    Julia2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We found Dirk's place to be something quite special. Beautiful views from virtually every room. We admired & enjoyed his sense of style & skill with design: the interior design & artefacts are really well thought through in a creative way. The house is well equipped, spacious, comfortable ... we had a great stay. Some pointers for other travellers: - the house is I guess the equivalent of an 8 or 10 storey climb up stairs & pathways from the place you park your car. It's worth it in my opinion to obtain the views & privacy, but you do have to be prepared to haul your luggage. - we didn't find English to be spoken in the restaurants or shops we went to. But locals were accommodating and we could get by without it.

    Tim2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an AMAZING stay - Dirk's place was a piece of paradise along the Rhine. A bit of a hike from where you can park to the flat, but this affords you magnificent views and lovely breeze. The garden was a delightful place to have a drink and short walk to a local market, bakery and several restaurants. On our last night there, we were surprised by a fireworks display from directly in front of the flat - not sure who or what was celebrated but we throughly enjoyed it. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, maybe next time we would plan to have time for hiking.

  • We absolutely loved staying at Dirk's house in Kaub! We stayed there with a large group including 2 children and it was perfect for us. The house is very spacious and the garden and patio are incredible. We enjoyed many bottles of wine while relaxing on the patio! It is a bit of a climb to get to the house, but well worth it for us. Kaub is situated in a beautiful area of the Rhine and is convenient to many attractions. We took advantage of the river cruise boats that dock in Kaub as well as the ferry in Kaub. Everything does close early in the small town and things were frequently closed during the week and in the middle of the day, so you need to plan accordingly. Dirk was a wonderful host. He provided lots of suggestions on things to do during our stay as well as an amazing guide book for the area. I would highly recommend staying here!

    Jaclyn2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were the first party to stay at Dirk's slate mine apartment. We were 6 adults with 2 small children (2&5 yrs old). There are 3 bedrooms with the large one on the second level just under the roof. As the parents of the young kids we stayed on the roof level where we had a great view of the Rhein through the many windows. There is also a beautiful garden with great views over the city and the warm afternoon sun (if you're lucky to be here on a sunny weekend in Spring). The apt is decorated in very good taste with period furniture, original art pieces, and interesting books. We had two large family dinners there and found everything we needed to cook, prepare, and have a nice meal. Dirk even provided some local specialties for us to enjoy. Dirk was super communicative and helpful from the very beginning, providing us with his own guide to the region in both german and english, as well as accommodating our arrival time and providing us with a kid bed and high chair. I must say that the place may not be suitable for those who find it difficult to negotiate some stairs as you do have to get your stuff a little ways up from the where you drop your bags from the car and then have to go up a set of stairs. You can always ask Dirk for more details if this would be a concern. All in all, we had a great stay at Dirk's place in Kaub. The town is small and friendly with numerous dining and snacking options. The ferry is right there and with Dirk's place you have your base away from home. Thanks!

    Ming2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • The property offers a perfect spot to enjoy the Rhine and explore the region. The view is spectacular and the house is wonderfully decorated with everything you need. We would have loved to stay longer if our schedule had allowed it!

I offer in a historical house in the center of the romantic village Kaub 1 apartments Burg Gutenfels on the first floor: Here 4-6 persons can live - 1 bathroom 2 Wcs! Look at the pictures! The central location, everything is within walking distance -
Dream house built in 1883, everything renovated, renovated and really well equipped. The bathrooms are new, there is a separate bathroom in each apartment. Bright and friendly, the bedrooms are located in the rear quiet building tract. We have been renting since April 2014.
The small historically significant town of Kaub lies in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage "Upper Middle Rhine Valley". More than 40 castles strive against each other, the Rhine has always had great significance as a traffic route and in romanticism (William Turner, Goethe, Heine, etc.) as a tourist destination. In Kaub, you can be self-sufficient. Bakery, grocery store, restaurants and typical Strausswirtschaften (wine growers operated small restaurants), pharmacy, ATM and the ferry to the Andreen Rhine side are found.
  • Large apartment with great view of the Rhien river and the Kaub castle from a bedroom. We easily found a parking space for our car. The kids loved the football table on the ground floor. Very clean and well furnished.

  • Great location. You experience the whole Rhein valley charm with the view, boars, trains, castles. The apartment is perfect. We stayed there with 3 kids, 4 adults. It is modern but has charm, clean and all needed comfort. Very nice stay. Thanks Sabine

  • The apartment was absolutely fabulous, spacious, clean and quiet (even facing the busy railway). The building and all the facilities were also fantastic! Frau Sabine Barde was very helpful from day one. Frau Rita (the housekeeper) was lovely. Would recommend this place to everyone who love travelling with friends, nature and historical sightseeing.

    Ines2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sabine 's beautiful house is spacious and so comfortable. It is perfect for a family and a great base for exploring the Rhine. Rita, the house keeper was so friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this listing if you appreciate comfort, cleanliness and high standards.

  • I think we can say without doubt that these have been the best apartments we've never been. We rented two of them (6 + 4 people) and they both were absolutely wonderful. Everything liked new, like for first use. They were incredibily equiped (specially kitchen, even with owen and all kind of utensilies). In addition they are well decored with a lot of cheer, and that's very nice. Simply perfect! Kaub is very small, but it's very close to other bigger villages such as Ruddenheim, the most touristic and biggest of the area. I'd absolutely recommend these apartments. Simply perfec:)

    Eugenia2015-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • I was hesitant to book in Kaub....all the guidebooks said to stay in Bacharach or St Goar or Oberwesel.... but I really like the look of the place, and I really liked the price, especially with 6 people in my family. This place is BEAUTIFUL..the pictures don't accurately represent how nice it is. Spacious with lots of privacy... everything is comfortable! The caretaker was very nice as well. We cooked a ton, the kitchen was great! If you are touring the Rhine, this is a great location. Easy to park, easy to get on the highway, and you are gone most of the day anyway. I would absolutely stay here again....

  • This place was everything we hoped for. The room at the front of the apartment can get a lot of noise with trains coming by every 20 minutes but once shutters are shut the noise was minimal. Sauna was fabulous and easy to use. Photos dont do this place justice.

The apartment is integrated in two medieval skipper houses. They have been renovated and modernized carefully. The apartment is situated directly at the fantastic "Rheinsteig" hiking route.
The two skipper-houses are situated in the medieval old town of Kaub. The houses are set back from the railroad line, so that the guests will not get disturbed by the train noise. (The house has its own mooring area for boats, close to the ferry and only 5 minutes walk from the market place - with a wonderful view at the toll castle Pfalzgrafenstein on an island in the river.) By renovating the houses I tried to preserve the interesting marks of building history, like old tapestry or ornamental paintings. Partly the original art nouveau windows with their genuine glass could be restored. Through the gap of the neighborhood buildings some sights offer a view to the river, especially in winter, when the trees have lost their leaves. From the kitchen and the bedrooms you look at the romanic church from 1315 on the opposite side of the market place. The space used to be two houses, now connected, with a lounge on one side of the entrance and a kitchen/dining on the other. The kitchen offers a real „oldtimer“, a properly functioning stove („Gaggenau“) from 1950. The lounge provides a three piece suite manufactured in Vienna 1910. Two flight of stairs on both sides of the house lead up to 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. As typical for medieval houses, the stairs are rather steep. Please be careful! The bathrooms have been renewed completely (Design Phillip Starck), with a shower and a bathtub. Every room is heated by a modern central gas heating from 2012, the individual temperature can be regulated in the rooms. The double bedrooms have queen-sized beds (1,40 m x 2,00 m). In front of the house, there is a small area with garden furniture where the guest can sit and eat under lime trees. The house is a non-smoking area, but smokers can use the leafy bower outside. The guest can utilize the whole house except the wine cellars and the attics ;-). The house offers free wifi. I cannot only recommend the local wine, you should also test the local drinking water from the tap The City of Kaub still has it´s own rock spring with excellent still mineral water. It is not treated with any chemistry! So, please enjoy it! Parking your car on the market place or beside the streets is free in Kaub! There is a bakery right across from the house for breakfast pastries and a small supermarket 2mins walk away, plus a few restaurants, wine taverns, antique shops and a friendly post office/gift shop within eye shot. The bakery is also open on Sunday morning! Kaub can also be reached easily by train from Frankfurt or Cologne. It still has it´s own train station. It also has two landing places for cruise ships, that will take you to other beautiful old towns in the UNESCO Heritage Upper Middelrhine. If you love to hike at the famous „Rheinsteig“ trail, you are at the right place. The section between Kaub and the Loreley rock starts at the market place. With 836 inhabitants Kaub is one of the smallest cities Germany! Nevertheless, nearly each Kauber resident is socially involved in the wine festival, the open air theater, the Bluecher-festival, the fire brigade feast, the St. Martin procession, the St. Nicholas market, the car-free event for bikers in summer, and so on. The „Rhinelanders“ are extremely communicative, very tolerant and cosmopolitan. Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, people from all ethnic groups and all religions or convictions are cordially welcomed. If I cannot welcome you personally, my neighbor Lidio will help you with the check-in and the check-out.
  • I stayed at Dirk's place with my partner and parents for a couple of days and had a great stay. The house is very cozy and entertainment in itself, with lots of interesting photos and artifacts. The location is great and only a walk or short drive from many highlights of the Rhine Valley. Dirk was also by far the most helpful host we've ever had on airbnb. He provided lots of great information on the area and was available by phone, if we needed any help. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

    Sara2015-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here made our trip to the Rhine something special! We stayed for almost a week because we really wanted to get to know the area and travel slow. The space is so unique and like nothing you would find at a hotel or guest house--filled with antiques, collectibles, and highly personal touches from Dirk's creative aesthetic. He has perfectly preserved the historical aspects of the medieval home while adding modern amenities. It was nice to have two separate bedrooms and cook our own meals in the kitchen using supplies from the market just down the street. We didn't have a car, but the place is easily accessible by train and boat. Kaub is much smaller and quieter than other tourist towns along the Rhine, but we liked the local atmosphere. If you prefer a sparse, modern hotel then this place might not be for you, but if you want something with tons of character and history, then Dirk's house is it! Check in was easy and just as described, and Dirk even swung by to greet us in person.

  • Dirk's home is full of character and in an excellent location for exploring the area. You are walking distance to the train, the KD ferry, and a cross-river ferry. Kaub is relatively quiet, so it's also very convenient to be right next to the bakery and a great little wine bar.

  • This is a wonderful, historic residence in a beautiful town. Very comfortable with great bathrooms, kitchen and outdoor area. Dirk is a great host.

  • Dirk's house is lovely - full of quirky character. It was fun staying here and exploring the middle Rhine valley by foot, train, car and boat! We especially liked meeting Dirk who was lovely and very welcoming. The house was occasionally noisy as it close to road and train track but mostly very quiet. Be warned: everything is closed on a Wednesday afternoon! Otherwise shops, bakeries etc v close and convenient. All in all a great stay!

  • Enchanting. How else to describe it? The description of the cottage was mostly in German and we didn't know Kaub so we went out on a limb a bit when we booked it. So glad we did though, it was our best BnB experience yet. As former AirBnB hosts we're pretty picky but this really was special. Dirk is obviously a designer or architect of some kind because the house is like a vibrant museum, full of great little details that you keep noticing. A museum with nice modern bathrooms, cosy central heating and two comfortable queen sized beds. The space used to be two tiny cottages, now connected, with a lounge on one side of the entrance and a kitchen/dining on the other. The view from the kitchen table is delightful, as is the view from the bedrooms. There is a flight of stairs on both sides of the house, each leading up to a spacious double bedroom and a bathroom. We stayed with two children aged 9+12 (who shared one of the queen size beds) and a baby, whose travel cot we had plenty of room for in the other bedroom. The stairs, particularly on the kitchen side, are steep and slippery so kids need to be old enough to use those safely or used to steep stairs. The walk up the stairs, with the details and artworks and bookshelves was very enjoyable though. We planned to use the house as a base to explore the Rhine valley but enjoyed just being there so much we got not much further than Kaub. A sweet little town with a great walking track up past a private castle, through vineyards, forest and beyond. The house is set a couple of streets back from the Rhine and so train noise (from the line which runs along the river) didn't reach us. The church bells across the square ring from 6am till 10pm but not even that bothered us. There is a bakery right across from the house for breakfast pastries and a small supermarket 2mins walk away, plus a few restaurants, antique shop and a friendly post office/gift shop. Dirk was really communicative about our last minute booking and left us a bottle of local redwine and some lemonade for the children. Also some great suggestions for things to do. We enjoyed exploring nearby Rheinfels castle in St Goar and had a good lunch in the hotel restaurant there looking over the Rhine and the castles on the other side. We'll definitely be back as soon as we get the chance.

  • Dirk was very helpful and accomodating. the house was well stocked and quite comfortable and Kaub is a great little village.

  • We love our cottage in Kaub. It was in the middle of a beautiful village with plenty of restaurants and hotels. We found it was also easy to visit other sites close by. Dirk welcomed us and gave plenty of suggestions for our stay. He has restored and decorated the cottage beautifully. It was great for a traveling group of four.

    Kaub, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Our holiday house is centrally located in the historical center of Kaub. It is located in the heart of the world cultural heritage of the Middle Rhine Valley and is one of the most beautiful holiday regions in Germany. The castle of Gutenfels, the Blücher museum and the castle Pfalz-Grafenstein, the train station, the excursion boats are within walking distance within a few minutes. The Rheinsteig can be reached in minutes. The bakery, a grocery store and the post office are just a stone's throw away.
The accommodation is on the 1st floor of the house. It is about 98 square meters in size and consists of a living room, three bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. In bedroom 1 there is a double bed (200cm x 180cm). In the bedroom 2 there is a bed (90 cm x 200 cm) and in the bedroom 3 there are two single beds (90 cm x 200 cm). If you are traveling with a large group here, we have in the living room also an extra mattress on the floor. The bathroom is equipped with a shower and a bathtub. Sink, and WC. Hair dryer, towels and bed linen are provided. The kitchen (built in 2016) is equipped with the usual appliances (oven, dishwasher, stove, refrigerator with freezer, microwave, toaster, water cooker, coffee filter machine, French press).
The house is located very close to the Rhine. From the window you can see the castles of Gutenfels, Pfalzgrafenstein and the Rhine. As usual in the Rhine Valley, the railway tracks run along the Rhine and thus lead past our house. However, our house has noise protection windows so that the noise level with closed windows is only slight.
  • Everything was exactly as in description. Excellent communication. While Ying was unable to meet us, she organised her father to show us the apartment and give us advice on the surrounding area. There is a small market just down the road and a bakery behind the apartment. Kaub is very small with minimal options for eating out however other, bigger villages are very close by so it wasn't a major issue for us. The apartment is well set up if you want to cook yourself. Thanks Ying, we really enjoyed our stay!

    Abby2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the apartment! It was clean and spacious. The location was perfect to go to Rhine in Flames. Short 10 min drive at the most. The apt was furnished with some neat antique furniture. I was worried train would keep us up at night but it did not at all. Would definitely stay here again.

    Holly2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ying and Meng's place was just lovely! The only thing to keep in mind is that freight trains do pass through on occasion, but this would be an issue anywhere along this part of the Rhine.

    Lauren2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great! Thank you!

    Charles2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This house is in an excellent location, easy walking distance to a bakery, beer gardens, or up to the castle. Also just a short drive to Bacharach taking the autoferry. The hosts were very accommodating, and very nice. The home is close to the railroad tracks, but with the windows closed the trains aren't a bother. We slept soundly all night. The rooms are very comfortable and offer plenty of space for the whole family to relax.

  • Ying, Thank you so much for offering your beautiful vacation home for us to stay! We loved your house & the location on Rhine river. The wine you left us made us feel very welcomed as well!! Your attention to details is commendable! The house was roomy, clean & perfect for our family.:) G

    Guita2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very spacious apartment in the downtown area of Kaub. It was well equipped - nice towels, shampoo/conditioner, dish soap, pots/pans, etc. It is one of the most nicely equipped AirBnB's we have stayed in! The host even left us a bag of Haribo treats and a delicious bottle of wine! The apartment is near the train line, but as another reviewer noted, if you want to see the river and be on the Rhine, you are going to be near the railroad. The apartment has terrific windows which really decrease the noise. My family had a lovely stay. Do be aware that if you have 5 people like we do, you are renting a 2-bedroom, 1 bath apartment with a separate single (3rd) bedroom adjacent to the 2-bedroom apartment but accessible only from the building's main hallway. We stayed in the 2-bedroom apartment during the day, and then split up to sleep.

    Paige2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ying's place is really nice and cute. She gave us a bottle of wine and a really nice welcome note. She was able to respond to us right away whenever we had a question. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • What a magical place! Complete with the standard amenities and entirely furnished in antique style, this traditional home feels more like a castle than an airbnb. The view is fantastic with at least 2 castles visible as well as the river from the windows. One castle is even within hiking distance! The quaint Rhineland town takes you back to the medieval times, with fantastic traditional German cuisine just a short walk away and ferry access to the other side of the river. The hosts were friendly and accommodating, I highly recommend this for anyone seeking a great Rhineland getaway.

  • What a great place to stay! Perfect host and communication. We felt very welcomed! Easy to get to and close parking. Many restuaraunts close by. The trains are a little noisy but nothing horrible. Great coffee and bakery close by too! Very clean apartment and everything you need was there.

    Jennifer 2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Apartment was clean and the owners mother showed us around. The owner even had a bottle of wine for us. The only problem was the apartment is right next to train tracks and the train runs all night. Quite noisy. Also could use blinds for the skylights.

    Steve2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place right by the Rhine, and close to many attractions. The apartment is big, roomy and well-stocked.

    Philippe-André2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is how an Airbnb should be managed. The only bad thing is the train right outside of the house but the view absolutely makes up for it. Even had a bottle of wine waiting for us!

    Greg2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Ying's apartment was very spacious and clean. It was located close to the centre of town. Communication was easy and he was very helpful. One downside is the location being on the railway tracks which made it very noisy with trains passing by.

    Kylie2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and clean. Spacious apartment. Only downside was noise from trains- right next to tracks and trains run all day long - stopped around 11:30pm and started up around 8:30am.

Near the Rhine River Valley with Lorch, Kaub, St.Goarshausen just 20 mins away. The famous Loreley is ca 15min drive. We are on the hills above the beautiful Wispertal and Sauerthal. Castle country! You’ll love my place because it's surrounded by romantic landscapes, open spaces, forests, woods & streams. Peaceful paradice. The best spot for day trips along the Rhine or in the other direction to Limburg on the River Lahn. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
The dungeon! Downstairs in the basment we have a large room with a double bed. There is a wardrobe with hanging space, a dressing table and a table for writing/working. Downstairs there is also a toilet and basin. For showering you must share our bathroom. You can also join us for dinner if you don't want the drive to a restaurant - just ask beforehand. I will provide breakfast too if you like. (pp: Bfast 10€ & dinner 15-20€) The sitting room is available for you to share as well. We do not have a TV - but there are plenty of books in the house in English and German.
The village is quiet and tranquil - we don't hear the church bell anymore, but it does ring on the hour and for other occasions. There are plenty of places to walk around here and loads of things to see in the area. The people are friendly and helpful - not all speak English, but most will try. The nearest restaurant is 6k's away, there is also a pizza place there as well. Lorch has loads of places to eat as does Nastätten - both around 15mins drive.
  • Rachel and her husband are very kind people. They welcomed us very friendly and warm and in the morning we even had a lovely breakfast and a very nice conversation with Rachel :) Thanks for that again! The accomodation was cozy and perfect for our stay. The house is located in a very quiet area with a beautiful view. Altogether, HIGHLY recommended! :)

  • Really quiet and peaceful place, close (10 mins) to famous Loreley. Rachel and Edward have been very nice hosts for me during my 3-days stay. Many thanks for the optional breakfast / brunch, especially with the homemade rolls and local specialities. Many thanks for the nice stay & greetings. Thomas H.

    Pedro2017-07-22T00:00:00Z

You will stay in a historic building from the 16th century: the old church of Lorchhausen. In our apartment you will experience a time travel, as in the museum. But with all the comforts of the present time. The house has 5 rooms, kitchen and bathroom, 65 sqm, on two floors and a large terrace. The car park is 3 minutes away.
The entrance is at the back of the old crick. They walk through the green door and the small garden to the front door. You first enter the church tower, there is the small bathroom and the staircase. On the ground floor are kitchen (with good equipment including dishwasher), dining room and living room. There is a bedcouch 140 cm wide. On the first floor you will find the library, the "Princess's Room" and the bedroom with a bed 140 cm wide.
Our apartment "Rheingold" is only a few minutes from the Rhine with a view of Bacharach. Lorchhausen is a district of Lorch. For wine lovers and hikers the ideal place to relax and enjoy. In addition to an access to the Rheinsteig directly at our house, there are also interesting circular walks, such as the geological circular trail in Lorch. Here, all places have a long and turbulent history, which is to be explored. The next castles are Nollig Castle in Lorch, Stahleck Castle in Bacharach, Pfalzgrafenstein Castle and Gutenfels Castle in Kaub, Sooneck Castle, Rheinstein Castle and Reichenstein Castle in Trechtingshausen. Loreley is 12 km, Bacharach 8 km and Rüdesheim 14 km away.
  • Yvonnes beautiful home is the perfect place to enjoy your holiday. She has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. We loved the decoration and we're facinated by the antiques. Thanks to Yvonne we found the Hotel Linden in Assmanshausen, recommended for a very tasty meal. We only had a few days but we were able to see quite a bit of the area and coming home to a comfortable house and bed was great. Can't thank Yvonne enough she was the perfect host and welcomed us so warmly.

    Irina2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the most lovingly prepared and well stocked airbnb I have ever rented. It was beautifully decorated, very clean, and overall very welcoming. The kitchen was wonderful (copper pots!). The house was very cozy and quiet. The outdoor patio was private and beautiful. I just loved this house. So nice to come home to after a day of touring the Rhein and Moesel valleys. One thing to note (and this was not at all a problem for us) - the town of Lorchhausen is strictly a bedroom community. There are no shops, which makes it actually kind of a nice escape from all the beautiful, yet very touristy towns along the Rhein.

    Mitch2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Yvonne's place was a perfect get-away for our family. The Rhine Valley was beautiful, the town quaint and charming, and her place had all the nostalgia and touches that made it feel like a cozy home away from home. She went above and beyond to put amenities in the refrigerator, left cookies on the table, and had plenty of literature to help us explore the area. While the town and region itself does not offer much for young children (except a vast amount of exploring), Yvonne's place had everything they could desire to stay entertained. We would highly recommend this place for those looking for a romantic getaway or just somewhere to unwind and make memories as a family.

Much emphasis on dos and donts. Anyway, is a good place rest for a night or two after the long hours sightseeing along The Rhein River from Bonn to Bingen...

Thank you, Manuela!

The "lackey room" in the guest house "Cheval Blanc" is in Lorch am Rhein. By car or train it is only a few minutes to "Kaub", "Sankt Goarshausen" or "Rüdesheim". Lorch is a small medieval town right on the Rhine.
The hiking trail "Rheinsteig" passes nearby our house. Many nature reserves and the UNESCO World Heritage site Upper Middle Rhine Valley with castles and palaces are in close proximity and invite you to a hike. The Rheingau is easy to reach by Lorch both by the Federal Railroad and by car. A cycle track is in the development.

I offer in a historical house in the center of the romantic village Kaub 1 apartments Burg Liebenstein on the second floor to: Here can accommodate 2 - 4 persons Look at the pictures! The central location, everything is within walking distance - car and
Dream house built in 1883, everything renovated, renovated and really well equipped. The bathrooms are new, there is a separate bathroom in each apartment. Bright and friendly, the bedrooms are located in the rear quiet building tract. We have been renting since April 2014.
A small food market, a bakery, a post office, an ATM in the neighborhood. AND many restaurants and ostrich farms.
  • We (4 adults and 5 kids) rented the top two apartments in Sabine's building. They were beautifully decorated and well equipped. You can't beat the price! Her house woman, Frau Klein, met us at arrival and showed us our apartments. Despite it's small size, Kaub offered plenty in the way of food. We were able to get groceries every morning at the bakery and small grocery within a few minutes walk. There is a nice restaurant next door and a Biergarten in front of the building. Our stay on the Rhein was fantastic and I would highly recommend Sabine's apartments!

    Renee2014-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place. the apartment was cosy and comfortable. Located next to very good restaurants I do recommend this place. Only minus: a bit of nose due to the proximity of rail road. Thanks a lot for this stay.

  • This was one of the greatest AirBnb locations we've stayed at. Malgosia was wonderful and extremely friendly and helpful and the apartment was like in the photos but even bigger and brighter. We loved it and would have stayed longer if we could have. Also could not beat the location! Thanks Malgosia and all the best. Moe & David.

  • My journey in the Rhine valley, in the Malgosia apartment, was sensible. The landlord is enthusiastic and sincere, the accommodation is quiet and elegant, set up complete, especially at the breakfast of the restaurant looks up at the old castle in the hill, feel great! • This was a lovely apartment, clean and bright and very spacious, equipped with anything you might need. The hosts left detailed local information and the location is perfect. Only drawback is three flights of stairs and no elevator - it was okay for us but maybe not for some. Also no tv and all the supplied dvd's were in Polish, none in English.

  • Very clean, tidy, well-equipped apartment. It's perfect for two people. The hosts are very nice. Maybe a small note of caution: if you are very sensitive to sounds in the night; the train goes by very near and occasionally you can hear it, so bring earplugs. We slept very well without earplugs and we highly recommend a stay in this place.

  • Florian's place was extremely clean and practically brand new. We were offered carbonated water, tea and coffee. Although we did not have time to make a meal, the kitchen was equipped with everything to do so. Free street parking was readily available nearby. Florian gave us some great advice on what to see on the way to Lorch. We would highly recommend staying here!

  • My parents had a wonderful time! The flat was beautiful, clean and tidy, with everything they could have possibly needed - even egg cups! Florian was a great host and met them on arrival. Lorch itself was a revelation and they're already planning a return trip to the area, having enjoyed the local food, wonderful scenery along the Rhine and meeting plenty of friendly locals!

  • We could not ask for better scenery in the Rhine valley. Two castles are visible from out the front window. We took the bikes (that they provided) along the Rhine bike path and across the river (via ferry) to Bacharach. It was an amazing way to spend a day. The property was clean and comfortable. As other comments have said the nearby trains are frequent, but amazingly quiet and fast compared to trains in the US.

  • Wonderful location on the Rhein, lovely modern apartment in an old convent house. Travelling with children it was nice to have access to some toys in the common area, and the local wine and snacks for sale was very convenient.

  • Very nice appartment with much better views than the ones shared in these web pictures... breathtaking! Bedrooms windows to the Rhine, kitchen room view to a beautiful chapell and vines. Full of light, modern, with everything you might need. We went with 2 children + 1 baby and it was perfect!

  • Very nice location with a gorgeous Rhine view, nice and comfortable apartment with all utilities you may need during your stay. The wine cellar is great in a very convenient way to taste local wines. We are looking forward to come back hopefully next sommer.

  • Fantastic! Sabine is a great host and has this wonderful home, which is divided in several units. The home is very comfortable, modern, extremely clean, towels where perfect, the house was immaculate ! The location is perfect, you can access the train system in 150m , there is a Ferry to take you to the other side. We always go to this area every year , and feel very lucky we found Sabines places. We'll come back next year! Definitely recommended!!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Sabine flat. It is well decorated and well equipped. It is located in a beautiful area in the Rhein valley reachable by car, train and boat (for people who are interested to make a cruise on the Rhein). Sabine has been available for all our queries before and during the stay. She answered really quickly to all the emails. A big thank you!

Welcome in a small room in an almost 600 years old and lovingly restored house Sickingen in Bacharach
We live in a historical building dating back to 1420. The house has already seen much in its almost 600 years of life and deserves our respect and consideration.

  • Yvonne's place is a 1420 building, bulging, tilting and squeaking loudly, but apparently still very solid or made so with new strctural elements. The building, a 5-minute walk from train station on the main road, fits right in with the charming, historical town of Bacharach -- Barbarossa's brother supposedly ruled the Holy Roman Empire from here for a few year while Barbarossa went on a crusade. The room is small but adequate for one person. The house is filled with knickknacks and is not particularly neat, but is clean enough. The place is terrific value for anyone who cares more about experiencing history than creature comfort.

  • Fun medieval house right in the middle of Bacharach, a very charming and fun town. It's also very convenient to the train station as well as shops and restaurants. Highly recommended!

  • Living in such 700 years antique house is a really unique experience, you can taste the history. Host Yvonne is very kindly, provided me lots of traveling information and good communication. Highly recommended all the people who are looking for place to stay in Bacharach. Ellen

  • Yvonne is a wonderful host and her home is a gorgeous historical place to stay. The location is perfect, close to the train station, with easy access to the village and the nearby communities. She went above and beyond when I discovered that I foolishly forgot to purchase an adapter for electrical outlets in Europe. She contacted at least three different friends in the area to assist me with my problem and when those options didn't work out, we went for a drive to the next town where I was able to purchase two, just in case, adapters. Friendly warm and most generous, I would definitely return for another stay and encourage others to book with Yvonne. Danke!!!

  • Yvonne was very nice, friendly, and welcoming!. She even invited me to her housewarming party. The house is beautiful, and it is an attraction in itself.

    Robert2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • The room is within a fantastic very old building of the traditional 'Fachwerkhaus' type. You can walk on old wooden floors, beams and joists. The host is fantastic and can give you a small tour through the building and the surrounding garden. If you don't mind dogs this is a perfect location within the wonderful little town of Bacharach.

  • Excellent host, clean facilities and made to feel very welcome. I made a last minute (for me!) booking to attend the Game of Thrones card game tournament in Bacharach (Stahleck!) and I was extremely lucky to find Yvonne's listing to make a reservation. Yvonne pulled out all the stops to make her home feel like a second home for me and cannot express enough how much this was appreciated. Thank you!

My accommodation Haus Dettmar Oberstr. 8 is centrally located opposite the Old Town Hall and Haus Sickingen. To walk 3 minutes to the train station, center, parks, children's playground, boat jetties. And to the market square, the center.Or 1 hour from Frankfurt and Hahn Airport. Next door is the tourist information, bakery, shopping, good restaurants. Highly recommended: restaurant on the market Oberstr.64 always everything fresh. Good breakfast buffet. My accommodation is good for couples, single travelers.
  • Don't expect to get any communication until you show up. Stairs may be a challenge for some. Bring your own wash clothes. Hans and Annalie are friendly and helpful.

  • Annelie and Hans were friendly, and helpful. Luckily my Mother speaks fluent German, so it made communication easier with them, as they speak little English. We had some confusion on payment on the second room we got, but it was all the fault of AirBNB. Once we provided the transaction # from my receipt of payment, everything was OK. The rooms were very clean, as were the bathroom. We had the kitchenette, but our plans had changed when we booked another room for other family, and we didn't need the kitchen. However, it was stocked with equipment, pans, soap, etc.. so it would have been easy to use. Lovely balcony to enjoy, and next to a bakery. I would definitely stay there again if I had the chance. THANK YOU Annelie and Hans!

  • The location of the unit was perfect, and convenient. The unit is spacious, and clean. This is a most lovely holiday spot. However, If you need consistent and reliable wifi access, this may be a challenge. Wifi was spotty at best. Also, because it is a multi unit building, I believe the wifi router is shared and thus a reliability issue. We could only use it, literally, within two feet of kitchen counter. Our unit had a water drainage problem in shower and bath sink also. Very slow drain. We didn't feel it necessary to request repair since we were only there for two days. That said, the location and space was well worth it.

  • Wake to the sound of church bells and the aroma of fresh baking bread....the apartment is perfectly situated in beautiful Bacharach, on the Main Street but the town is very quiet.....a bit oddly configured ( our little patio was through the bathroom!) but that just adds to he charm of the place. Lovely.

    Ron2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spacious apartment with a balcony overlooking the pretty street of Bacharach! Nice big and comfortable bed with good pillows. I also appreciated the blackout curtains which made for a great sleep. Quiet location too, no street or train noise. The living area has a lovely big couch and t.v. which we didn't even get to watch.. Good kitchen amenities too. Overall, a gem of an apartment in Bacharach!

    Caitríona2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! Perfect location and size - there was also a balcony to sit on which was lovely. The bathroom was plenty spacious (especially compared to others we've stayed in) and check- in was a breeze. However, be aware that this place is a hotel, basically, and not a residential apartment. As such, all the photos are not necessarily of your particular room but of others in the building. That being said, this wasn't "bad," just unexpected.

    Kate2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Annelie's place is a great place to stay. It's about 2 blocks from the train station and next door to an amazing bakery. We would stay there again.
