“A lovely place for breakfast or brunch (try the Eggs Benedict!), or to come sit for coffee and a pastry and catch up with old - or new - friends. OR....head upstairs to the rooftop terrace with a clear view of the Parroquia and the neighborhood of Atascadero and enjoy a cocktail (they make a perfect Negroni) or a glass of wine. Great food, great service, great views.”

“On the 4th Floor of the Rosewood Hotel. Incredible view of San Miguel de Allende. Innovative drinks. Pricey, but worth it. Go at sunset to see the city change from daytime to nightime. This place gets crowded.”

“This is the diviest bar in SMA. The walls are covered in real cockroaches, and you should only order beer because I'm not sure they wash their glasses—unless beer's not strong enough to get you comfortable with the cockroaches. It dates back to the 40s, with furniture that old too. Neal Cassady had his last drink here before being found dead by a railroad track. The crowd is mixed: working-class Mexicans, tourists, bohemian types, and upper-class people from Mexico City. In other words, no one will really look at you. Music comes from a jukebox. Get control early, since it has good stuff, or you'll be stuck listening to power ballads all night. They open late and stay open later.”
