Vacation Rentals in Saint Peter

Just booked in Saint Peter

Located on the ground floor, Croton is a very comfortable one-bedroom self contained studio apartment with en-suite bathroom. It is ideally suited for one to two persons.
The air condtioned bedroom is furnished with a double bed, bedside lamp and built in wardrobe. The bathroom offers a glass enclosed walk-in shower with hand-held shower and jets. The living area features combined living, dining and kitchen area, cooled by ceiling fans. The kitchen includes micro-wave oven, toaster, kettle, cooker with oven and coffee maker. Cable TV and free wireless internet connection, selection of board and card games are supplied for your further convenience. Much of the character of Speightstown can be found in its architecture - historic buildings dating back to the early settlement of Barbados alongside modern buildings reflecting a developing nation - and in its people - the sidewalk vendors offering fresh fruits and vegetables, the fishermen unloading their catch along the jetty, local characters hanging out at the Esplanade and friendly sales staff in modern shops and restaurants.
Located on the island's North West Coast, Heywoods Park is a quiet residential area within walking distance of historic Speightstown, Heywoods Beach and Port St. Charles Marina. Directly across from the Almond Beach Resort, Heywoods Park is perfect for families with children; the street is a cul-de-sac so the only traffic is that of the neighbors as they come and go. The beach is less than five minutes' walk - honestly and if you look up Heywoods Beach on a map, you will see it is one of the most beautiful on the island.
  • We had a wonderful vacation in Barbados. Mosty that was because of our accomodation hostet by Janlyn. The house is located in a very nice and friendly neighbourhood near the quiet town Speightstown, which is located in the west. The house was spotless and we felt instantly at home. With the little backyard including a swimming pool it was also a nice place to hang out. The beach is just a 10 mins walk away. Also public transportation is around the corner. Jan is an awesome host who was always available with usefull informations concerning everything that you need to know and events that are taking place around the island. We will be back ;-)

  • Janlyn was friendly and helpful, and the apartment was as advertised. She was flexible in terms of check-out when there was no-one coming in right after us. On a warm night the living room would not be that comfortable - that was the only drawback to the apartment. The air conditioning is fine for the bedroom (particularly with the door closed) but it does not push any cool air into the living room. For a couple using only the bedroom for sleeping that would not be a problem.

  • Really nice place to stay. In the most beautifully side of the island and close to a really nice beach.

  • I don't know where to begin! First, we ended up staying in the bigger appartment, the Hibiscus suite, which was awesome, with a great big porch where we enjoyed every single breakfast! The pool is fantastic to cool off when getting back from the beach, which is almost just across the street. We did awesome snorkeling on the closeby reef and saw schools of blue tangs, parrot fish and sea turtles, among others. You can go basically anywhere on the island by bus and the terminal is a five minutes walk from the house. Jan and her family are truly great and generous people. Jan was always available to help and to give advice, and she passed by a couple of times to say hi and verify that we didn't lack anything. She even offered us a ride when she felt we were ridiculous to want to walk in the mid day sun from the house to Bathsheba (she was right, that was stupid...!). We felt very confident and safe at the house and we would recommand it to anyone who wants to experience a more "local" feel of Barbados. Thanks again to Jan and her family!

  • Jan is an amazing host, my vacation in Barbados felt more like I was visiting family. Jan goes over and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable; she is attentive, and intuitive for all of your needs. My apartment was very clean, decorative, and comfortable.

  • We had a wonderful time on Barbados and enjoyed it very much to explore the island - there is so much to see! We stayed 5 nights at the Sun Gold House in the Croton Studio Appartement. The Studio is very well equiped with all what you possibly need and very clean. There is even a housekeeper, that came once during our stay to clean the studio and we were very happy that we could do laundry when ever we wanted. Our host Jan waited for us on our arrival and was very welcoming and helpful in any way she could. We even got invited for a real barbadian dinner cooked by Jan where we met her family as well. We truly enjoyed our time and would go back to Sun Gold House anytime.

  • Jan exceeded my expectations from the start. She kept in contact 3 months prior to us flying out. A cab was sent to collect us from the airport and drop us off at the house where Jan was waiting to greet us. The following day she picked us up and showed us sound the area, where we can jet ski, surf, introduced us to some of the locals and even took us to do our food shopping. She was always available to help and give advice when needed This was all unexpected as I'm used to being given the keys to the apartment and left to my own devices. I will most definitely contact Jan again when wanted to visit this beautiful island. Highly recommended.

  • Jan was very helpful and gracious. She upgraded us to the larger suite and made us feel very welcome. Her home is spacious and clean. She offered cleaning services for us during our stay. The space had plenty of cookery and cutlery and was located close to the beach. The neighborhood is nice and middle-class. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would book there again.

The Garden Suite is a charming, room with private pool, gazebo and amazing tropical gardens with breathtaking views of the ocean. The room is tastefully decorated with a large shower room and has its own lockable entrance.
The Garden Suite offers charming rental accommodation very close to Port St. Charles in the parish of St Peter, on the west coast of Barbados. It is a true tropical hideaway! The location has breathtaking panoramic views from the pool deck (just outside your door), overlooking Port St Charles and the Caribbean Sea, and is less than one kilometre from the beach. This pretty, rental suite is tastefully decorated and has its own private, lockable entrance. It is downstairs and to the side of my house ‘Eversince’. I live at ‘Eversince’ and am on hand to offer any help or advice. My guests have sole use of the pool (which is 27ft long), sun beds and gardens, and at all times their privacy is respected. Outside the garden is lush and tropical. There are regular visits from monkeys; amazing sunsets and the firefly displays are magical. It’s a perfect haven for nature lovers. There are tortoises on the lawn and lots of birds. There is also a resident cat. I have 2 dogs which live in the house with me. They are not loose to run around. The neighbouring properties also have dogs; so there are occasions when they bark – although most of the time they are all asleep. Inside the Garden Suite there are 2 beds with mosquito nets (a double and a single bed) and there is a large shower room with built in wardrobes. For entertainment there is a TV and DVD player with DVD library, also book library (no TV stations), high speed wi-fi access is available inside and outside. A 'pay as you go' local mobile phone is provided if required. There is a safe, hair dryer, small fridge and kettle. A starter pack of teas and coffee is provided along with milk, sugar and water. There are drinking glasses and sufficient plates, cutlery and mugs etc for snacking and light meals. Just outside the suite is a laundry room with washing machine, microwave and large fridge freezer. There is also a large gas BBQ outside (the BBQ has gas rings on which you can use pans). There is no full kitchen. Outside there is a gazebo with dining table and 4 chairs and a wicker sofa to relax on - perfect with a book or for a nap in the shade. It's beautifully lit at night and affords shelter and al-fresco dining, if there's a shower. All towels and bed linens are provided. There are 2 folding chairs available which can be taken to the beach as well as a cool bag and ice chillers for picnics.
The neighbourhood is select and very safe with professional residents and there is no passing traffic.
  • Great place and host

    Adrian2016-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Property was as described but we should have asked more searching questions about the kitchen facilities. The area was quiet and natural, we were not bothered by barking dogs, but a car was essential for us. Bus and mini-van services were good and fairly frequent but you have total freedom with a car although it was expensive. The pool. although small, was delightful, and the views were lovely.

    Brian2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Karen met us, a little difficult to find and we know the area well. So if hiring a car, call Karen for directions, or hire a car once there as Karen recommended and organised a good car hire company for us. there was a generous welcome pack, various teas, coffee, milk, juice and small wines & beer. Good neighbourhood near Port Ferdinand, having a car though is ideal for getting around. We especially loved the private pool area and little garden, which had tortoise, an avery with parakeets and chickens, may even see monkeys who live in the gully below early in the morning. Wonderful bird songs in the day. Great view of the sea and sunset looking over Port St Charles. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Jane2015-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Tops....amazing!!!! If you love wildlife and probably one of the best views over the sea you could possibly get in Barbados...this is the place. Monkey's in your garden , shyless tropical birds , and much more!! Lovely gardens to explore lawns and tropical forest beaming with life....you won't get bored!!!! Wounderful pool and patio area plus a fantastic covered BQ area looking over the tropical plants and monkey's! The only thing that we thought was missing was an outside shower for entering and leaving to pool but all in all fantastic value for the price and I must say one of the best experience I have had travelling!

    gary2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We cannot praise Karen or her property too highly. Very friendly communication when booking and a very warm welcome when we arrived. She is not intrusive at all and is very helpful. This is one of those places which you don't really want to review as you want to keep it all to yourself! We had stayed in a similar place in Sunset Crest a couple of years ago, which was more expensive but nowhere near as good, and the owner might as well stayed in our room for all the privacy we had. Karen was having some work done upstairs one day and very thoughtfully apologised in advance to us for the noise, which was minimal. It certainly didn't spoil our enjoyment of the pool. Ideally you do need a car when staying here as the hill up from Port Ferdinand is steep, especially so in the heat. It is in a quiet residential area, and you get a good breeze. Normally mosquitoes drive me mad but I can't remember getting one bite, so we think the breeze keeps the mozzies down. Hercules the cat is very friendly. Karen has two dogs and if anyone is put off by this, don't be. They are not noisy at all and you hardly see them anyway. Isobel the hen struts about a couple of times a day and then disappears. There is a large table with plenty of chairs and two sun loungers next to the pool. There are lights in the trees so you can easily sit and read a book outside at night, with a beer or glass of wine from the fridge right next to your room. A barbecue is available but the only "cooking" we did was to make toast for breakfast and one day we had a salad, but other than that we ate out all the time. There is plenty of room to park a hire car. The pool and terrace are kept immaculately clean. We enjoyed our stay so much we are returning for a longer one next January. All in all, we love this place and can't recommend it highly enough.

  • A nice place to stay with great sea views.

    Farheen2016-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a dream come true, every last detail was charming from the view of the beach to the private pool. Very secluded and peaceful, yet only a 15 minute walk to the nearest beach and access to a refrigerator and freezer for your own groceries if you don't feel like going out. Our host also left us a detailed package of activities and places of interest on the island-complete with all the best places to eat and even how and where to get transportation (including rental cars.) I can't wait to come back!

    Vincent2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Online description of the property accurate and more amenities were available which we were not aware of and was a pleasant surprise. The outside space was excellent and the pool was a bonus. The backdrop of the sea is amazing. Host warm, welcoming, seen very little of and always available when we had any questions. Would definitely go there again.

  • Des and Jill's place is in a lovely part of the island quite secluded from other houses. There is a convenient supermarket nearby for groceries and the main towns are about a 20 minute drive away. The 2 pools, Jacuzzi and the gym as well as the lovely balcony made our stay very enjoyable.

Curates House is wonderfully located on a ridge above Speightstown with magnificent ocean views and amazing sunsets . This home has the feel of a truely historic Barbados residence and is located next to St Peters vicarage . Curates house is designed to be traditional but has all the modern conveniences and style that one seeks from a holiday home . All 4 bedrooms are spacious with their own individual character , 3 bathrooms and numerous internal / external reception areas , pool etc
There are two pavillions ( dining and lounging )each with breath taking ocean and sunset views . The limestone pool deck with 4 comfortable sun loungers further compliments these areas . The sun shines on the pool all day long but for those seeking shade there are several comfortable areas This is a house ideally suited to entertaining and it has seen plenty of celebrity action over the years ! All bedrooms have thick walls and attractive "Jalousie " style windows . The floors are purple heart dark wood or limestone . All bedrooms have fans as well as AC . The TV / living room has a 52 " plasma tv with Netflix . Our WIFI / internet is fibre optic and the connectivity is very good for Barbados !!!
Speightstown is proper Barbados . It used to be known as Little Bristol and the bay would be awash with schooners . In Nineteenth century the capital moved to Bridgetown and the pace of life slowed in Speightstown I am a property developer who came to Barbados 10 years ago with my family - ( we came on holiday and never went back !) . I could have picked anywhere to live and thought about a gated communities like Royal Westmoreland or Sugar Hill. We decided we wanted to embrace the history and soak up the atmosphere of Barbados - we couldnt have found a better spot than Speightstown . It is now home to several high end developments including the marinas at Port St Charles and Port Ferdinand Speightstown is really the only seaside town in Barbados where you can actually see the ocean and watch the locals go about their daily chores . It has a wonderful vibe and the restaurant / bar scene is really taking off making it a welcome contrast to the more commercial Holetown. Our local favourites include Little Bristol Bar ( owned by the engaging raconteur Nick Mackie ), The Fishpot , Fishermans pub and The yacht club at Port St Charles . There is a supermarket in Speightstown for essentials but most guests prefer to shop at Warrens ( 15 mins by car ) or Holetown ( 10 mins ) . We have membership cards available for you to use for Costco and Pricesmart in the Warrens .
  • Great pool and views

  • This villa was absolutely beautiful! Great patio in the backyard to hang out during the day or at night, the villa itself is extremely spacious. If you wake up early enough you will see the monkey's on the trees outside the house! Highly recommend renting a car if you stay here as you are not close to the city or the beaches. The pool wasn't as clean as we'd hoped but all else was great. Highly recommend the villa!

    Jessica2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts had great communication & answered any questions I had fully & promptly and ad-hoc questions were answered by the housekeeper who checked on us regularly. The Villa is spacious, fully furnished with everything you could need for a home from home stay The location was more remote that we anticipated & a car was essential if you were going to go out an explore the island - otherwise I'm sure the bus services would be more than suitable I wouldn't however wish to walk to the Villa after sundown. We had a great stay in a beautiful home, stacks of family games provided, a large pool & plenty of outdoor space & accommodating & responsive hosts. Thank you for making our stay in Barbados an enjoyable, smooth & fun one.

    Natalie2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Curates House and couldn't recommend it enough. The house is beautifully furnished inside and out, and we enjoyed being able to have meals sat on the veranda overlooking Speightstown. The housekeeper, Grace, was on hand to answer any questions, and Gillian was quick to respond to any queries we had. We would recommend hiring a car as it makes travelling the island very easy, although the buses are easy to use and great fun! We will be returning soon hopefully!

    Andrew2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • See the notes that i just wrote - happy to share them.

    kate2017-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived a little early, and we took a chance and were kindly let in by the housekeeper. The place was clean and ready, and once we opened up the windows and doors to cool it down some, we were comfortable. It was very hot while we were there, but with the fans on and windows and doors opened, it was pleasant enough. Until one gets climatized to the heat we needed the AC at night in the bedroom. We only utilized one bedroom, there was only my wife and I. The bed was comfortable and pillows and bedding more then adequate for us. The home is very nice, well kept and maintained. There were plenty of dishes and cookware for many people, one of the best stocked kitchens we've rented on airbnb. In fact there was a lot more of many other items as well, such as more then enough towels, books and some board games, lots of hangers in the closets, etc. It made for a very comfortable stay. I would strongly suggest renting a car, as we did. It's not far into town, but the roads are narrow with lots of bends, and if you walked along them I think it would be somewhat unsafe as there aren't many sidewalks to move off the road when cars come along. And without a car you would be stuck taking taxis or walking into town and taking buses, definitely taking away from the whole overall experience, as well as having the freedom of going whenever you want and wherever you want to go. The pool and pool area are clean and very comfortable. Lots of comfortable seating areas everywhere at this home, outside and inside. Gillian happened to be on the island when we were there, and she stopped by a few times to make sure all was going good, as well as she was making sure everything was being maintained on the home itself taking care of some minor issues that all homes have from time to time, especially homes in hot humid climates. Gillian was pleasant, informative, and we enjoyed talking to her. We seen the housekeeper once when we checked in, and once when she advised us of a small water main issue that needed repairing. She definitely leaves you alone believing strongly in giving anyone in the home their privacy. She has one daughter and a son living with her, and they all respect your space and privacy and you barely see or hear from them. We did talk to the kids a couple of times, and they were nice and respectful. All in all my wife and I would highly recommend this home for a future stay, it was our oasis while visiting Barbados. We felt safe there, and after the end of the day's where we spent exploring the island, it was a nice place to come home to.

  • We had a wonderful week in this lovely house which has fabulous views of the sea. We also enjoyed monkey and bird spotting in the trees close by. The swimming and eating areas are gorgeous! The sun beds were the most comfortable we have ever used. The bedrooms are sizeable and the beds are very comfortable. We highly recommend this property. Grace the house keeper is very helpful.

Georgeous beachfront penthouse in historic Speightstown with amazing views over the Caribbean Sea. Relax on the terrace before taking a stroll into town, all amenities are close by, and with the most stunning beaches at hand what more could you want!
Turtle Beach is a beautiful airy penthouse, marble floors and cathedral ceilings make this the perfect place for a Caribbean retreat, with the most amazing views over the aquamarine Caribbean Sea. The furnishings are Caribbean cool and perfectly complement the apartment and it's surroundings. All amenities are close to hand and a car is not necessary if you do not wish. The beaches of the calm waters of the West Coast are perfect for swimming and snorkelling, and with many world class golf courses close by, there is something to please everyone. Reefers and Wreckers dive shop is a minute away, and Philip and Michael will take good care of you! night dives also available. There are several restaurants within walking distance, ranging from 5 star to the local rum shops....the choice is yours. Supermarkets, ATM machines, and all manner of shops are a two minute stroll away. Walk into Speightstown on a bustling Saturday morning, and see Caribbean colour and life all around you, local ladies selling exotic fruit and vegetables, fresh fish from the days catch at the market. Many great days out can be had from this area., there is something for everyone.
I spent many months looking for the ideal property in Barbados, after visiting the island for more than thirty years it was not an easy decision!! Speightstown won on many counts, it is quite possibly one of the most original authentic Caribbean towns still in existence. It was at one time know as "Little Bristol" due to it being the main port of call for trade boats calling into port from England, collecting spices and sugar. Here you are able to have as activity packed or as relaxing a vacation as you wish., the choices are all there. There are many bars and restaurants within a short walking distance, and should you wish to go further afield, the restaurants and bars of Holetown are a 10 minute drive away. The building is secure with gated entrance and parking, and is still tranquil yet within walking distance from all. I LOVE it !!!

  • Hi Trish Now back from Barbados and had a superb time. Your apartment very well situated and great layout. Only downside was no air con for two nights in main bedroom and lounge and nearly suffocated first night and got bitten to death the second! A/C man in the end got unit working in main bedroom and one only in the lounge - other seems kaput!Exacerbated by no hot water for next morning and evening as idiot A/C man forgot to turn back on. Some form of refund is I feel due - say a day and a half? Kind regards Simon

  • I absolutely loved it and wished I could have stayed longer. The apartment is great and has everything you need and is nicely decorated, but the real point is the terrace that's made for sunbathing and watching the sun go down over the Caribbean Sea with a rum punch! Speightstown feels like the "real" Barbados, away from the crowds and the resorts, but with plenty of restaurants and places to go nearby. The beach in front of the apartment is great for floating around to cool off, and to the north you can walk a fair distance too along Hayward's beach to Port St Charles. Trisha was great and was in contact when I booked and before I arrived with details and useful information. Her housekeeper Marva was also fantastic and couldn't have been more helpful. If only Barbados wasn't such a long way from Australia I'd be back all the time, but I do hope to visit again!

  • We had a lovely time staying at Trisha's. A beautiful view with lots of space, the photos don't nearly do it justice!

  • Generally the listing is accurate. It is a very attractive and spacious apartment overlooking an unoccupied strip of beach just across the quiet road. The TV will play dvds but is not connected to receive programmes. The apartment is within 5 mins walking distance of the outskirts of Speightstown where there are nice restaurants, a supermarket, a baker and veg. stalls.

Beach front cottage nestled at Sherman's St.Peter, a picture perfect view of the Six Men's Bay. The serene natural beauty of the surroundings feels like home away from home. The charming cottage with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms & a fully equipped kitchen offers the perfect setting which seems to slow time down. Minutes from pristine sandy beaches, crystal clear oceans. Experience unparalleled sunsets. The perfect vacation experience. Free WiFi.
  • A little piece of paradise. My wife and I spent 10 days and enjoyed every sunset! 9 steps to the water where we watched the sun rise; while drinking our morning coffee. 350ft away where we launched our kayak from shore. Even though there are closer places to swim; we found a spot 5 min away by walking: it was sandy and the waves we gentle enough so you could just float for hours and not get crashed on! (A better spot than the local fancy resort) The best part? We always had he spot to ourselves! Great fishing directly in front the cottage! Rooms were clean. The backyard is where we spent most of our time when the sun was too hot. (It has shaded and open areas where you can choose to be in the sun or not) 30 minute drive or under to anything we wanted to see or wanted. Thanks for the great vacation!

  • 'Snugness' the perfect name for this charming place. After a great welcome from Derek's sister Charmaine, who was there to greet us and had organised us a taxi from the airport. (Lisa, the taxi driver was very informative and showed us places of interest on the way). Charmaine had made sure we had basic essentials in the fridge, which was great, as we arrived on a Bank holiday. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. There is plenty of bed linen and towels and even spare beach towels. There is plenty of wardrobe space and It is Has a great outdoor area with plenty of shade, if needed. In fact you are spoilt for choice for dining outside as there are two dining areas!! (Also, some very comfortable sun beds) There was even snorkell gear for our use which was great as who wants to take those on the plane if they don't need to!! The beds are very comfortable and large, and there is plenty of wardrobe space. Charmaine even organised us a hire car. Although it is very easy to get around the island and there is a bus stop right across the road. The view out the front is of the ocean and it's beautiful and the Fish pot restaurant is a two minute walk away. The food is amazing if you want a nice treat during your stay. Braddy's bar is close by and although it may look a bit scruffy it is a lovely, cheap, friendly place to sit and watch the sun go down, with a beer or a rum punch. we would thoroughly recommend this family cottage and will definitely be returning as soon as we can!!

An additional person is $20 a night.
  • Loved my stay at Colleton! The house is beautifully historic and well maintained, and the tucked away location makes it easy to relax. Lots of books available as well as TV and WiFi, even a piano if you're musically inclined. My room was very spacious with a nice private bathroom. The sea breeze keeps the place pretty cool, but the AC in the room was useful on humid nights. Vivian went above and beyond to make me feel at home - driving me anywhere I needed to go, preparing an extravagant breakfast every morning, and suggesting great local activities when I felt like getting out of the house. As a solo traveller I really appreciated it.

  • Amazing house, service and views! Loved the breakfast and how friendly and helpful the staff were, especially Vivian. Close to nice, quiet beaches. Buses nearby to get to different towns. Not super close to food and shop options by fine to bus or a longer walk to get essentials. Monkeys by the pool in the afternoons. A very relaxing stay!

  • Ancient Grove Tropical Sanctuary consists of two villas – Ancient Grove 1 and Ancient Grove 2. We stayed at Ancient Grove 2 and this review relates to our experience at that villa. The property itself is easy to find. From GAIA it is about a 45 minute drive north on the main highway and there is a sign on the left announcing “The Rock” to the right. A fairly steep road leads you up to the property which is located about 2 or 3 hundred metres up on the left after a sharp bend to the left. The villas themselves are situated in beautiful grounds on the edge of a steep gully. This provides seclusion as well as a good view of the Caribbean but families with young, active children may find the steepness of the gulley a bit forbidding, especially as it is close to the villas with no barrier. The pool is situated right on the edge too which provides a wonderful view over the countryside towards Speightstown and the sea beyond. A new, single story, elementary school has been built at the foot of the gulley. This was not open when we were there. We did not realize that there were two villas before our arrival and that the gardens and pool are shared. The local pigeon population appears to use the pool as a watering hole. Also note that the pool is 5 feet deep and not easy to get in and out of if you have any difficulty with steep steps without a handrail, and may not be suitable for non-swimmers. The property is situated about 500ft above sea level so it is marginally cooler than the coast and the constant breeze also helps to cool things down. You will not miss air conditioning in the villa. Although the property is situated on a narrow, steep road it is, nevertheless, a road that is used regularly so there is noise. The sugar cane harvest runs from about January to May and so there was regular tractor traffic hauling cane down the road and then empty ones rattling their way up again. We stayed for a month until mid-April and found that, towards the end of our stay, the tractor traffic became less and less – presumably as they had to go further a field to retrieve the harvest. Bajans also have a habit of leaning on their car horns when they approach sharp bends so expect some of this too. There seem to be a number of neighbourhood dogs too that want to “chat” with one another of an evening. The property itself is a little remote by Bajan standards. Although just off the highway, it is several km’s to Speightstown so you will need a vehicle. There is nowhere to really go for a walk but frankly, this is Barbados, so the only activities really are lying by the pool or lying on one of the many beaches! The villa itself was large and...

  • Ancient Grove is a total paradise! Brian has created the perfect place to relax and enjoy life! Set in a tropical forest away from the crowds yet close to everything, this spacious house is the ideal setting for a Caribbean vacation. The house has been so well designed that you feel as though your are outside immersed in nature even when you are inside enjoying all the modern day comforts. The kids loved the mornings at the pool and the adults enjoyed the evenings grilling fish and sipping wine on the terrace while listening to the crickets and enjoying the cool evening breeze. The grounds keeper Raphael could not have been nicer or more accommodating and Brian's local tips and advice were very much appreciated by our group. We had a great time and are already looking forward to our next visit!

  • My group really liked this place. It was excellent for our 7 person wedding party. We scoured the island looking for the perfect venue and ended up having the ceremony right there on the property on the pool deck. The gardener, King, busted hump to make the property as pristine as possible. There are lovely views from most every window (except for the school, at least we think that's what it is, which looks recently built and is not reflected in the pictures) and you get mice breezes through each room - make sure you open up everything though. The pool was lovely and had a perfect placement. Depending on the time of day it could be shady or sunny. The jacuzzi was nonoperational, but the pool provides plenty of relief from the midday heat. The house is equipped with all the necessary amenities: stove, microwave, blender, coffee maker, washer and dryer, TV and wifi. We even had a cookout one night using the outdoor grill. The bugs were a slight annoyance, but the mosquitoes were barely even noticeable. Bug spray for the house is included and does the job nicely. The life on the property is amazing. The lizards, frogs, and birds help limit the bug population and will have you constantly assessing your surroundings to find them. In the evenings, if you are quiet enough you will see a few bats swooping over the pool. They aren't a bother though. This is probably why the Mosquitos weren't much of an issues. One of my favorite things to do while on the property was sneak into the pool, get right up on the edge, and watch the bats dive down and then swoop up overhead. If this isn't your cup of tea, even the slightest noise or movement will deter them. The location of the house is a little difficult to find. We arrived ten hours later than expected and tried to navigate the island in a rental car, but once you have been there it is easy to orient yourself. It is right alongside a highway. Basically we loved Ancient Grove and anyone who stays there will undoubtedly love this magical place as well. The atmosphere on the property is just amazing. If we are ever in Barbados again, we will certainly make a return visit to Ancient Grove.

  • Wow - what an amazingly special and serene place. We loved it. Batteries properly charged. The Bali-esk decor and rain forest garden was really unique and so well done! The location on the island is perfect for great beaches, local cricket, amazing restaurants and the delightful Speightstown. We felt at home straight away. Only downside was trying to get the family to leave at the end of the holiday. Wholeheartedly recommend this perfect holiday home and Oskar (Brian's son) and Rachel were the perfect hosts and made some great recommendations such as the family-friendly Port St. Charles. Thanks a million...

Ginger Lily 1 is a spacious one bedroom/one bathroom apartment on the ground level. It is fully self contained and offers very comfortable accommodation for up to two persons. Children are welcome. With walk-on access to the plunge pool and pool deck area, Ginger Lilly is one of our most popular units.
The bedroom offers twin beds which can be made into seamless king-size beds as required, and are air-conditioned. Built-in wardrobes, bedside tables with lamps and an electronic safe are included. The bathroom features a walk-in shower unit. Ceiling fans keep the spacious living areas cool, and the fully fitted kitchen includes micro-wave oven, toaster, kettle, cooker with oven and coffee maker. The dining room seats six with additional dining area on the west-facing patio and pool deck. Sun loungers, tables and umbrellas are on the pool deck. Cable TV and free wireless internet connection, selection of board and card games and reading materials are supplied for your further convenience.
  • The Stay at Sundgold House was awesome. Jan is an Angel! You will realize fast, that it isn´t her job, it is her passion to satisfy her guests!!! I think our holiday was the best we can did, because Jan and her whole family were so friendly and nice to us. they´ve shown us the typically Bajan-Thing :) We will definitely come back to the Island, but only if we can stay at Jan´s House again. Highly Recommended!

  • We’ve had a fantastic time at the Gingerlilly apartment ,Sungold House. Jan is the perfect host and gave us the warmest welcome, advising on beaches and locations to visit. On our first night Jan and Gary took us to a local beach bar which served fantastic freshly cooked fish a great introduction to the local lifestyle. Sungold house is in a great location in a peaceful residential area ,walking distance from the Speightstown with it’s shops, bars and (URL HIDDEN) an even shorter distance to the most wonderful beach where you can snorkel , relax in the shade or watch the amazing sunsets. The apartment was so wonderful…spacious ,clean, well equipped and with a great balcony to sit out and relax. We would definitely come back here again, Jan and Gary made our stay very special.

  • This is a lovely, low-key accomodation. Janlyn could not have been nicer or more accomodating of our needs--we arrived on a late flight from Boston to find a roast chicken (with all the fixings) and the bottom of rum waiting for us. Sungold is a short drive to the beach and quite close to good shops and restaurants in Speightstown. Most guests appear to stay for several weeks--our stay was only 4 days, so we did not make full use of the outdoor grill or fully equipped kitchen but would have liked to. The outdoor pool is small but a lovely plunge on a hot afternoon.

  • Another great stay at Jan's place! Again she was exceptionally helpful at organizing airport transfers and other activities on the island! The house is in a great, relaxing location. Very close to the quiet beach and within walking distance of groceries, cafés, bakeries and the bus station. Even without a car it is easy to go almost anywhere on the island by the bus system (for very cheap!) Again I highly recommend staying at the sungold house!

  • From before we even left the UK we knew that our booking was a fantastic one, just from the emails passed between Jan and myself. Jan always very quickly responded to emails in an efficient and often humorous way - which is exactly how I like emails to be! Jan arranged for us to be met at the airport, on this occassion her husband Gary was able to collect us. This gave us the most enjoyable journey to the house, with Gary and my husband chatting like old friends. Gary pointed out places of interest and also took a detour to show us the local town and how to get to the beach from the property. When we arrived at the property, Jan was there to great us with a welcome drink of some local Banks beer. We all had a drink together and a good chat and a laugh. We felt really very welcome. Jan showed us the apartment and where everything was etc., there is no doubt that lots of thought had gone into planning and designing the property. Lots of space and all really well done. During our stay we saw all 3 apartments and can honestly say we would be very happy to stay in any of them. All 3 have been really well designed with lots of space being a key issue. The pool area is lovely too, with tables and chairs plus sun loungers. There is also a washing line which was really useful. The day after we arrived Jan needed to go to the local cash and carry type supermarket. Jan and her daughter Krystal took my husband and I plus one of the other guests with them. Even the journey there was great fun with Jan giving us lots of information about the area and the cost of things and what to watch our for when paying for things. All really useful stuff. The shopping we did was brilliant and set us up for the whole 2 weeks, as we do like to cook for ourselves every evening. We were really grateful to Jan for taking us with her and giving us the opportunity to buy en-mass and not having to carry it. The are also some good supermarkets in the local town which we also used for the odd things. The bed was really comfortable, the shower great, and the ceiling fans made a huge difference. We didn't use the aircon in the bedroom very much, but when we did we were very grateful for it. We also did not use the TV, but it was great to see it all there plus a radio/CD player. The wifi was excellent and an amazing speed. If it dropped, which was very rare, it was only for very short moments. The kitchen was very well equipped, the fridge and freezer were large and very efficient. We tended to put tap water in the fridge and enjoyed it always chilled. We enjoyed the local...

  • Janlyn and Gary were terrific hosts. They were very welcoming and friendly. They went out of their way to give us an authentic taste of the Bajan culture and to make us feel at home. The house was nice and clean. It was close to a beautiful beach and the centre of Speightstown, where we would go to the market and bakery every day. We were travelling with our baby girl, and it was the perfect place to spend a relaxing time in a comfortable and safe place. It was a perfect vacation and I highly recommend staying with Janlyn if you want to spend a lovely time in Barbados.

  • I booked Janlyn's place for my grandmother. Janlyn was the best host ever. She made my grandma feel like part of the family, helping her whenever she needed. Janlyn has a warm heart and I was very happy to have my grandmother stay at her apartment. Thanks!

  • What a wonderful house! We had a very relaxing 9-days' holiday at Maria's house nearby Speightstown. This newly decorated place is really quiet, only the birds at day and the frogs at night, perfectly equipped with everything you need (including high-speed wifi) and set in a well maintened garden. One of the pools is just steps away from the magnificent patio, where we enjoyed the big round table and the sofa with armchair for relaxing. The other, bigger pool is only 100 m further up a small hill, with breathtaking views of the Caribbean sea and sunsets. Maria sent us good information about the house and how to reach it and she was a perfect host. The only problem was... at a certain point our vacation was finished and we had to leave this beautiful paradise! A rented car is really necessary. There are not many restaurants in Speightstown. We loved the traditional Bajan cooking at the Fishermans Pub& on Queen Street (don't miss the rum punch!) and the more international oriented kitchen of Pat and Mary at Island Plates (right corner of the Town Hall Square). We were not satisfied by Juma's (also on Queen Street): too expensive for the qualitiy of the cooking. Lots of beautiful beaches on Barbados: nearby we enjoyed the Heighwoods Beach - look for the big tree in front of the pool of the Almond resort: good shadow until 15h.

  • Vuemont is a lovely housing development on a hill above Speightstown. We like to cook and the apartment had everything we needed. There is a mini supermarket at the bottom of the hill and lots of larger stores a bit further out. You need a car as Vuemont is not easily accessed by public transport but it is a great base and only a 10 min drive to the beach / town. Vuemont is nicely landscaped and peaceful. I would recommend taking some earplugs though as the (I think) lizards can get quite noisy overnight - this is everywhere on the island tho and not just Vuemont. The only disappointment really was that the bedding smelled very damp on arrival and we had to wash it all before we could go to bed. Maria was apologetic and promised to raise it with the cleaner.

  • We highly recommend this place if you need to get away from chaos. Despite every condos in the surrounding, the place is very calm and has an intimate environment. This location is beautiful but in our opinion requires a car unless you want to spend all your budget on taxis. The condo is well divided, clean, had enough towels... king size bed that is comfortable and clean. After our exciting evenings, it was a pleasure to re-enter in this peaceful condo. Thank you very much for helping to make our trip an enjoyable experience, we had a great time

  • We absolutely loved our time spent at Maria's apartment and we've been missing the peace and tranquillity and not forgetting those wonderful views since we've been back home. Maria was easy to contact and even dropped by one morning to check that we were settling in OK. The minor issue of one of the outside lights not working in the veranda was fixed the very next day. If you ever need a home from home in a safe development with on-site gym/tennis courts, swimming pools and jacuzzi which is close to shops and the beaches then this should be your choice. The on-site security always greeted you with a smile and a good morning/night how are you and the ground staff were also very friendly. Would definitely recommend Maria to any of my friends and would not hesitate in staying in her lovely apartment again.

    Faye2016-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Literally the only negative thing that I can say about our stay was the distance Vuemont was from the traditional hangout places in the southern part of the isle. It's about a 40 minute drive away. So renting a car is advised from my point of view, although there are buses which run through the area frequently enough, and using public transportation, while somewhat inconvenient, is far cheaper. So that's up to you. Everything else, I can only say positive things about. The home was fantastic. Well furnished and well cleaned, as well as spacious. Communication with Maria was superb and she was graciously accommodating to our inquiries, for that I am immensely thankful. And the pools were fantastic. The sunset by the infinity pool, is superb. When not out, I ensured my evenings ended there with a glass of wine. It was perfect. I wasn't there when Maria visited, but my family had nothing but kind words about her. I only hope I was as gracious a tenant as she was a host. I would certainly recommend here anyday and I would hopefully be visiting again in the near future.

My place is located in a town, Speightstown, and with it comes close proximity to public transport, shopping, museum, churches and parks. The beach and golf course is located across the street.
The apartment is self catering. All the essentials are there. It is uniquely placed across the street from the beach, Heywood and a golf course at Almond Beach Resort. Transportation hub is within a 5 minute walk, which means you can take buses around the island or to particular attractions on the island. A car will give you more flexibility and there is parking in front of the property. Walk to the supermarket and take their shuttle back with your groceries. In the town you will find a baker shop, fish market, department stores and the likes. A museum, churches, and restaurants are also within walking distance.
The beach is across the street from the property.
  • Great island, great apartmens, great owner! Thank you for everything! It was super holydays!

  • From the moment I arrived the welcome was so warm and inviting. The host was so thoughtful and helpful and the unit was very comfortable. From this location you are walking distance from transportation, shops and best of all a lovely stretch of beach. I enjoyed my stay and the only regret is that it was so short. I'll definitely look to stay here again.

  • Very comfortable. Walking distance to local stores and beautiful beaches. Aileen was amazing and available for questions when needed

  • We had a lovely couple of chilled days. This place is in a quiet neighbourhood just 3 minutes from the beach and 10 minutes away from a perfect bit of paradise - Heywood's Beach. The shops, bars and restaurants are 5 minutes away and the bus terminal inbetween which makes it a great place to access. The apartment was clean and spacious with a fully fitted kitchen so perfect for being self sufficient. Aileen was most helpful beforehand replying quickly to messages and helping us with bus routes and information too.

  • A location is only as good as the host is, and Aileen was one heck of a host. She was super responsive and helpful even before we got to the island with all of my questions I had leading up to my stay. I visited Barbados from Thursday - Sunday for a wedding and chose her house because of how comfy it seemed and how close it was to the location of the wedding. It's literally a 2 minute walk away from Speightstown if you want to check out any bars / shops and steps away from the beautiful Almond beach. When I arrived she was very diligent in breaking down house rules and making sure we had everything we needed. The house had a beautiful living room / kitchen / and bedroom setup. On the first day we told her we'd like to go grocery shopping and she drove us to the nearest supermarket ! On the day of the wedding she also drove my girlfriend and I to the wedding (she was wearing heels so it would've been a difficult 10 minute walk). Thinking that Aileen couldn't get any better she then offered to drive us to the airport on Sunday so long as it didn't conflict with her dance classes ! haha ! Thankfully it didn't and we made it back safe and sound ! Not only was she an immaculate host but she was such a warm and welcoming person that it makes you definitely want to come back to her again ! thanks for everything Aileen !

  • I had a fantastic stay with Aileen at her lovely Douglas apartment. I had to extend my trip last minute and it was very easy to sort out. The apartment was extremely clean and well equipped and would suit longer stays also. There were lots of fresh clean towels (including beach towels) and on arrival the fridge was stocked with different juices, water and Sprite which I found a nice touch. There was a fridge freezer and a very well equipped kitchen. The shower was great too and was spacious and powerful with plenty of hot water. The gardens outside had a comfortable sun lounger and there were chairs and a table on the patio for the apartment. There was one other apartment next door. I could wash all my clothes using the washing machine and had my own lines to hang it all up. Location wise was great too right by lovely beaches and a 5 minute walk into Speightstown and to the large grocery store Jordans, Little Bristol bar which has live music and the bus station where you can get all over the island. Mullins beach and Holetown were only a 5-10 minute bus ride away. I also attended the Wildlife reserve, National Park and Grenade Hall which were nearby on the bus route to Bathsheba. As a lone female I felt very safe within this apartment as Aileen makes sure that the building is well lit with secure locks on the gate and front and back doors, there was also a safe provided. Aileen made sure I had everything I needed and even cooked me some of her (probably now famous!) flying fish with her home grown vegetables and salad - delicious! I would love to stay again! - Jenny

The beautiful Carib Edge beachfront penthouse studio is close to Speightstown, where you find groceries and shops, restaurants, public transport, all in easy walking distance. You’ll love our private place because of its large, partly covered terrace with view of the sea, an airy and comfy living room, AC and fans on the high ceiling, a well equipped kitchen, a spacious bedroom with AC and ceiling fans. My place is good for couples and solo adventurers, even a third guest can be accommodated.
The spacious (1170 sq. ft.) and well fit out accommodation is a romantic getaway for couples and an ideal place to unwind in Caribbean atmosphere. The owner of Carib Edge apt. owns also the 5 star rated Coral Sands apt. directly underneath (4-6 persons). Larger groups might want to book both apartments. The penthouse faces the white, sandy beach on the exclusive west coast of Barbados. The location is just north of Speightstown, in easy walking distance to the amenities (supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants, banks, etc.). The breezy apartment is separated from the beach by a small road with local traffic only. This is an ideal place to unwind in Caribbean atmosphere, a romantic getaway for couples, with space also for a third person. The apartment is fully self-contained. Gated parking included. Description: BEDROOM: one AC bedroom with queen size bed, protected by a large mosquito net, and one foldable bed, to be placed in the bedroom or the living room. Ceiling fan over the bed, spacious wardrobes and a sideboard. BATHROOM: Modern bathroom next to the bedroom with walk in shower, wash basin, toilet. In case of need, another toilet is available one flight of stairs down. GYM: this is one flight of stairs down and is free to use. KITCHEN/LIVING ROOM: Both rooms are combined, 4 persons can dine. The kitchen contains oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, ice cube-maker, coffee machines, toaster, kettle. Washing machine and dryer are in the corridor in one of the cabinets. A safe is in the other cabinet in the corridor. Comfortable seating for six+ in the living room, equipped with Smart TV, android box, Internet router (fast glass fibre connection + WiFi), Bose music dock, ceiling fan. The unhurried, relaxing atmosphere continues to the partly covered, LARGE TERRACE in front, where four or more persons can dine. An electric grill is present. This is an ideal place for dining al fresco and sun bathing (one sun bed, different chairs). Two umbrellas give shade and protect you from too much sun. From the terrace you have direct view of the azure Caribbean sea looking southwest and northwest; in between is Hugo's restaurant obstructing a part of the view, but you can observe the sunset into the sea looking over the building.
The Carib Edge apartment is just north of the centre of Speightstown, the second largest "town" on the island. This is the only (really small) city on the West Coast, originally founded as a small harbor for sailing boats. It is characterized by the live of the local Bajans and is much less touristic than Holetown, centre of tourism on the West Coast, which can be reached by bus within about 15 mins drive. You see more local Bajan people here in Speightstown than tourists. Our home is in 10 minutes walking distance to supermarkets, shops and restaurants, but also another only ten minutes from well known (and expensive) resorts. You can sit on the terrace and listen to the waves, you can go for a swim or snorkel in the reef and return without long preparations. In summer, turtles come on the beach and lay their eggs. We think we have here the best of two worlds: a quiet haven on the edge of where it is all happening.
  • Loved this place!! Thilo was a pleasure to deal with, prompt and friendly. The apartment was beautiful and fully stocked. The location was perfect. We do not enjoy large, noisy places and Speightstown was quiet and charming. The beach across the street was very nice. The water was clear and calm. There is some coral or rock in the water, but nothing that hurt the feet or caused concern. We did not visit any other beaches for swimming or snorkeling the entire two weeks we were there. We rented a car so we could see the entire island at our leisure, however, there were bus stops everywhere! I would absolutely stay here again, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Stay here, you won't regret it.

    Judy2017-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Thilo' s place is really great, the area is really quiet and perfect for a chilled out beach get away, far enough from the hustle of bridgetown and the busy beaches there. The beaches to the north are very quiet with some great snorkelling. Additionally the beach vendors here seems a lot more friendly and less pushy and a lot cheaper than down in Carlisle bay where you get harassed to go on numerous tours. We went to ninos restaurant which was lovely, about 100m walk south. The house is so well stocked with everything you need from bug replleant to sun cream and basic cooking supplies like oil and seasoning. And all the equipment for the beach . Furthermore the caretaker for all the condos is really helpful. The only downside like others said was the view from the balcony is spoilt by the restaurant which blocks the sea, but we were out on the beach anyway during the day so only a minor issue but noteworthy. I would 100% return to Thilo' s place in the near future and would reccomend it to anyone.

    James2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Thilo’s place is great - charming interior, beautiful terrace, very well equipped and truly comfortable. The best part ? It sits right accross a beautiful quiet beach that you will have all to yourself most of the time. In addition, we were happy to find interesting books, maps and guides of Barbados in the living room. Communication was very good - Thilo is informative, eager to help in any way and quick to respond to all inquiries. It’s obvious he takes his guests' wellbeing at heart. His maid Sonjia was kind and accessible as well. As for the town, it was hard not to fall in love with colorful and quiet Speightstown. It has a very authentic feel to it, plenty of little gems, not too many tourists and beautiful spots. It is extremely well serviced in terms of public transit, the bus terminal being a 5–min walk from the house, and from which you can go basically anywhere. The nearest “big” beach is Heywoods, and it’s super pretty. In fact, all of the west coast beaches are easily accessible, either by bus or car. Overall, we had a great time in Carib Edge, Speightstown. The one and only disapointment here will have to be that massive restaurant that’s being built right in front of this part of the beach condo, disrupting the view and terrace privacy. Maybe this will be a slightly different experience once it opens.

    Arnaud2017-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent spacious place to stay - few metres from the beach. More beaches to the right and to the left. The stores are nearby. There was some construction across the street but it was nearing the end so it's unlikely to affect anyone.. Friday night festival in Oistins was great. The bus from the bus terminal took us 1.5 hour to get there (1 US per person). The bus follows the coastline. The return trip by taxi is about 40 US (by highway). The breeze from the ocean is good all the time. Great place to stay.

    Anna2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful apartment very well equipped with a lovely terrace providing great sea views. The owner was extremely easy to communicate with, and any queries were dealt with very quickly. Thilo also provided excellent information about the apartment and the area before we left which was very useful. Sonia who manages the apartment was very helpful and efficient. The apartment is in a great location walking distance to lovely beaches, local shops and a great selection of bars and restaurants, you really don't need a car. We would strongly recommend this apartment to others looking for a very comfortable stay in a lovely part of Barbados.

'Kairos' is located in a peaceful glade on the Platinum West coast of Barbados. The modern yet cozy apartment offers a spacious living room/kitchen area that opens onto a private patio having access to an en suite bathroom. The bedroom has a stunning view of the Caribbean Sea just across the road. Other features are private parking, access to washing machine, yoga classes, close proximity to restaurants, local bars, shopping, public transportation, water sports and swimming with turtles!
‘Kairos’ is tucked away off the main road far enough to provide peaceful quiet yet is within walking distance of the beach and an efficient public transport system.
    - 'The fish pot' restaurant is a 5 minute walk away - There is a small mini-supermarket called 'Moontown' that is a 3 minute walk away - Speighstown is 2km away for more comprehensive shopping - Just around the corner is the well-known Sixmens’ Fishing Village where fresh fish can be purchased daily
  • Alexandra's Mother is an amazing, caring, helpful person. She brought mangoes to me every day. He drove me to the super market.

    Vitalina2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kairos is a beautiful house and the beach is straight across the road. We walked several times a day barefoot for snorkeling with turtles and fish, and going out to the sea from the little pontoon pier at the nearby Fish Pot restaurant is super convenient. There's a lot to see there if you're into snorkeling. We didn't meet Alexandra but we met her mother Juliette who lives in the main part of the house and she was extremely lovely and helpful. The apartment is really nice with spacious and clean rooms. It has a very open air feel to it, and we especially enjoyed the bathroom where half of the roof reveals the open sky. You can take a shower in candle light watching the stars which was amazing. The house is situated on the coastal road with rather frequent buses, so it's easy to get to. Only about 5 minute walk to local bars, restaurants and a small supermarket with a relatively wide selection of goods. We would definitely recommend staying at this calm and beautiful place.

  • Alex and her mom being very friendly to us, we got a seperate room with kitchen and bathroom, which is very comfortable and convenient. the first day, her mom drove us to the supermarket and took us to the beach for swimming and introduced us the neighborhood. she gave us mango smoothie and sauce made from their mango tree. the last day,she being so kindly drove us to the airport, and also showed us around the island on the way to airport. its such a great experience staying with them.

  • Thank you so much for letting us stay in your lovely apartment in Vuemont. The property was lovely, the facilities were amazing and it really made our last few days of our trip amazing. Vuemont is the perfect place for relaxing and enjoying the quiet side of Barbados. The pools in Vuemont are great, the bedrooms and living room are comfy and homely and Deborah was a really flexible and helpful host. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

  • We had a great time at 238 Vuemont with our two boys aged 4 & 2. The apartment felt new and was clean and fresh with sea views. Vuemont is a very peaceful place with a lovely breeze and views of the west coast. Three nice pools to use with one shallow pool great for kids. You will need a car to get about, but there is a supermarket half mile down the road and Speightstown is 5 minutes away by car. We will return to 238.

    James2017-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very tranquil spot in September. Very near the pool which was ideal for me and the grounds of the gated premises were well looked after. Hummingbirds, whistling frogs and monkeys all seen. You will be better off with a car but only 15mins to walk to the bus or could organise free transport to the bus if needed. It is on a steep hill up from the local supermarket so carrying supplies back would be a challenge. Overall fantastic location.

    Claire2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, relaxing vacation spot to get away from the typical tourist congestion. Although there is a bus stop right outside of the gates, a rental car would be ideal.

  • Deborah The Owner was very kind and very helpful with everything. the apartment is complete new, clean and with a magnificent view, all well furnished and equipped. the area is in a slight hill where you can admire the sea in the distance and where you can spend a peaceful holiday and relaxation. we were two couples and we hope to return soon to this wonderful place . thank you

  • The house is modern, well equipped, and within walking distance of quiet beautiful beaches and the town of Speightstown. There are good restaurants along the beach, but thankfully little nightlife and no cruise ship passengers. It is ideally situated for exploring the island by car or by the frequent busses. The owners are very helpful. There is no pool and the garden is small (though nicely kept), but we were perfectly happy given the nearby beaches, We did not hesitate to give a five-star rating .

  • The house is really spacious, excellent for families, couples or groups of friends. It lies in one of the nicest areas of the island, close to the best snorkeling beach of Barbados. It's just a 10 min walk from Speightstown, where you can find shops, banks and restaurants. The small town is not as touristy as the south of the island and is great for a relaxing holiday. Communication wih the host was excellent and the property manager was very nice and helpful. The kitchen is well equipped and everything was working fine, except of the TV, which had signal problems (we didn't really mind). Overall an awesome place.

  • Couple, 35/39, 11 nights/ Sep 2016: We had a wonderful time in this Villa. It has a perfecly equiped kitchen, is really spacious and has a very nice garden with mango and palmtrees. All technical things like ACs, TV, etc worked very well. The balcony of the masterbedroom is also a nice place to spend the evenings. The next beach is Heywoods Beach (peaceful, nice clear water, sea turtles) which is only a 5min walk. The next big supermarket in Speightstown is 15min by feet. And the Busterminal is also only a 7min walk. The organisation and communication with Maria was perfect and also OB the local manager was very helpful. There'also an airport transfer service available (incl a stop a the supermarket!). In short: Lovely island, great beaches Tasteful, quiet and in a way luxurious Villa Perfect Organisation We will come back!

  • Very comfortable home with all the necessary amenities. Air conditioning in all three bedrooms for sleeping comfort, with standing and ceiling fans downstairs for ventilation. Enough space for a family to enjoy a great time. Just a short walk to the small town of Speightstown, with a couple of shops, restaurants and bars and literally an easy four minute walk to the nearest beach. Easy access to public transportation if you want to explore like a Bajan. Don't expect much traditional nightlife as this is away from the city, but the larger towns down the coast will have more places open at night. Well fruited mango trees all around the property but we did not get to sample any falling coconuts. Great place, would definitely stay there again.

  • This rental was my first time booking on airbnb, so I was very nervous. Claire is great and is quick to respond to all of your texts and emails. It took us a while to locate the house because the map of Barbidos they give you at the airport is not exact. However, once we found the house it met my expectations and then some. When we arrived Lucine met us and showed us around the house. It was just as beautiful as it is in the pictures! We were in the pool within an hour of arrival and had a great time swimming and cooling off. The kitchen is well furnished with plates, pans, cutlery, and glasses. We cooked breakfast, lunch and/ or dinner throughout our stay. All three bedrooms are furnished nicely, and air conditioned. We only used the air at night while we were sleeping and opened the windows during the day to allow fresh air into the rooms. While upstairs we kept all of the windows open and cooled off naturally with the island breeze! It's an easy walk down to Speighstown to get groceries, spend time at the ocean, or grab some local food. If you want to go to Bridgetown and explore the island you should definitely rent a car. Overall, we loved staying at Claire's house and would absolutely stay there again when we return to Barbados!

On the West Coast of Barbados, coral shore beaches of fine white sand stretch along a blue-green sea. Coral reefs fringe the Barbados shoreline to provide excellent snorkeling and Scuba Diving. Along the East Coast a lively surf is blown briskly by the strong and constant trade winds and the waves pound against a wild beach and rocky shore. The constant breeze of the trade winds give Barbados a mild and pleasant tropical climate. When you visit Barbados, you will see it is mostly a flat coral island with excellent beaches, but there are rolling hills and many deep ridges and gullies, with an interesting distribution of flora and fauna. Within the Barbados coral core there is a vast array of caves and underground lakes which provide an excellent supply of drinking water that is amongst the purest in the world. Geologically Barbados is unique, being actually two land masses that merged together over the years. This and other anomalies make this Caribbean Island quite phenomenal, and there are geological structures that you will find only in Barbados
The St Peter Parish region British sailors who landed on Barbados in the 1620s at the site of present-day Holetown on the west coast found the island uninhabited. As elsewhere in the eastern Caribbean Arawak Indians may have been annihilated by invading Caribs who are believed to have subsequently abandoned the Island. From the arrival of the first British settlers in 1627-28 until independence in 1966, Barbados was under uninterupted British control. Nevertheless Barbados always enjoyed a large measure of local autonomy. Its house of Assembly which began meeting in 1639 is the third oldest legislative body in the Western Hemisphere preceded only by Bermuda's legislature and the Virginia House of Burgesses. As the sugar industry developed into the main commercial enterprise, Barbados was divided into large plantation estates which replaced the small holdings of the early British settlers. Some of the displaced farmers relocated to British Colonies in North America. In order to work the plantations, slaves were brought from Africa; the slave trade ceased a few years before the abolition of slavery throughout the British Empire in 1834. The Vuemont development on Mount Brevitor was previously a sugar plantation. The Island is divided into 11 parishes and the city of Bridgetown for administrative purposes. There is no local government. Vuemont Villa has a constant temperature range with a welcome cooling breeze. Speightstown Speightstown, a few minutes drive away, is a charming, unspoilt town, with a selection of shops and restaurants, a fish market and PADI dive school. Vuemont, formally named The Lakes, is ideally situated with easy access to both the East and West coasts. If you are after picture postcard sandy beaches and calm azure sea the West coast offers numerous options which include Port St Charles, Mullins and further south Sandy Lane at Holetown area. If you prefer your coasts rugged, deserted and windswept, go east for a short drive to the Atlantic coast where dramatic breakers pound the deserted shore around Bathsheba. There are numerous tourist attractions within easy reach, including St Nicholas Abbey, Barbados Wildlife Reserve, Farley Hill Estate, Butterfly Flower, Harrison Cave. World class dining is available throughout the Island many good restaurants along the West coast. There are several golf courses nearby, green fees are expensive. Racing in Bridgetown, Polo at Apes Hill.

  • What a great neighborhood. Quiet, safe neighborhood and clean apartment, we really enjoyed our stay. Jody (property manager) was great - very quick and responsive via AirBnB messages, arranged a car rental for me during a very busy season, and delivered to me some items that I left at the apartment upon checking out. - Great views of the ocean and the horizon from master bedroom and living room. - very large patio also looking out onto the ocean - Security is excellent, they are diligent, alert, and learn you by name, the community feels very safe - Washer/Dryer AND dishwasher in the apartment - Well-equipped kitchen - The starter pack in the kitchen was really appreciated (eggs, milk, juice, fruit, cheese, butter, jam, bread) - Great location if you plan to spend time on both the east coast (breathtaking) as well as the northern end of the west coast (limegrove mall area where there are great restaurants). - Internet speed was great - Apartment comes with netflix - Love the sound of the trees outside the master bedroom. Tips: - Reserve tennis courts in advance during high season (it is walking distance from apartment) - Supermarket is a 5 minute drive from the apartment, but is small - (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps directions were not accurate - take it off of live feed, and use old school maps instead if detoured. - Water pressure for the shower is great, just don't turn water on all the way, or else it will flood in the shower. - This is a true 2 Bed, 2 Bath apartment, open kitchen layout. Beds are not large - possibly a full, not a queen. - Apartment has a hot water switch in the kitchen, which is great if you like really hot showers (turn on/off to conserve energy). - Bring an auxillary cable to hook an iphone up to their stereo system in the kitchen

  • If you are looking for quiet, relatively safe, spectacular views of scenery, then Vuemont is the place you want to be. The community has 24 hours security, it comes with pools and jacuzzis. The hosts Natasha and Edward were gracious and easy to communicate with. We had no issues while we were there. Of note Vuemont is not for the party goer on the fly as it is located some distance from the tourist belt on the south coast of the island, however with a rental car you can access anywhere on the island in short time.

  • We have been to Barbados as a family many times. We love it and Vuemont was a perfect place to stay for our family of six. The house is well designed and beautifully furnished. Eddy is a chef and we found everything we needed for our stay in the kitchen. The view from the terrace is stunning. The communal gardens and pools are gorgeous. Went for an early morning run though French Village most mornings and found the local area friendly and welcoming. The gym is well equipped and air conditioned. There is a supermarket at the bottom of the hill. We have never stayed near Speightstown before and enjoyed exploring this end of the Island. Eddy and Natasha are helpful and welcoming hosts. Highly recommend this villa and hope to stay there again in the future. Would recommend hiring a car so that you can make the most of your stay.

  • A wonderfully relaxing place to stay and a great place location wise for exploring the whole Island with a car.

  • Eddie and Kitty's place in Vuemont is wonderful and was perfect for our family vacation. Not only is the house really nice but the view and the whole surroundings are beautiful, and we made good use of the swimming pools, tennis court and grass area just outside the place. The location is very convenient and close to the many attractions Barbados has to offer. The communication with the hosts was easy and they were very welcoming upon our arrival and gave us great advice and suggestions. Would love to stay there again if we go back.

  • This is such a beautiful spot! It looks exactly like the pictures and is super clean. My family and I stayed here and it was truly a home away from home. We spent many nights on the back deck enjoying the beautiful scene around us over some rum punches. Eddie and Kitty are excellent hosts and I would highly recommend to book Vuemont. One tip, you will need a vehicle but Eddie can help make arrangements with that.

  • Beautiful villa. Everything was perfect. The view is incredible, really peaceful environment at only a few minutes of speightstown by car. Lovely accommodation for a really good price. You can see a monkey family in the morning walking around. Stunning !

  • Great vacation home. Clean and quite, which is exactly what we were looking for. Wonderful hosts!

  • The host did make us feel very welcome, he was readily available, gave me tips on how to drive there, got a me a great deal on a car rental, suggested some places for me to go. Overall good stuff, I would definitely go again depending on affordability. Great view relaxing, has everything you need. It was my 2nd home, inspired me to think about real estate in Barbados.

  • If you're looking for a nice stay, I do not recommend this place. It is a great price, but totally not worth it. The bed is filled with bed bugs, thankfully we did not bring them back with us. It's a very cute place, but uncomfortably hot. If you enjoy A/c and not hot humid nights, I do not suggest this place. There is one ceiling fan and one standing fan, which did no justice for us, your best bet is to open all the windows in the room & have the front door wide open. Maggots formed in the garbage can 2 days to it being filled, also because of how hot and sticky it was. As described this is a private room, but we received no privacy. They came in when we were sleeping, or anytime we would go out. Privacy was lost, felt very uncomfortable, especially with the hosts husband peeping through the window when my friend was nude. Plus I was quite confused coming in one night with the door wide open and the hosts husband is brining the fan back with tape over the level to raise it... that was weird! Very nice house, but I guess you get what you pay for! Also the oven did not work. Tip: If you want guest to enjoy there stay - Change mattress - Have a working stove - Give them privacy - Install A/c

  • Karene and Andrew's apartment was our home for a month and we did not want to leave. The apartment is airy, confrontable and well equipped for self catering. The house keeping service was a really nice bonus - much appreciated! The house is located in a nice Bajan neighborhood within a short walk (10 - 15 minutes) to the beach, bus stop, two grocery stores and a number of restaurants in Speightstown. Karene and Andrew were very responsive to any questions or concerns and never intrusive. During our stay a couple of minor repairs were expeditiously taken care of. Nice apartment, good location, attentive hosts and good value. We will return. Thank you!

  • We had a wonderful time in the lovely appartment of Karene and Andrew. The rooms are very well equipped. We appreciated the warm welcome of our hosts and would like to use this opportunity to thank Karene and Andrew once again for their hospitality.

    Bernd2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Karene & Andrew's apartment. It was a perfect base for our holiday. We rented a car and explored the whole island. Was lovely to come back in the evening (and sometimes out of the midday heat!) to very well equipped, modern and private apartment. It has everything we needed for a comfortable week. The beds are enormous and Karene & Andrew were friendly and considerate hosts, you might say they are Airbnb PRO'S! thank you for letting us stay in your great apartment. Ollie

    Ollie2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Karene and Andrew were incredibly kind and gracious hosts. I honestly can't imagine more hospitable and generous hosts. They arranged a taxi for us, gave us a tour of the area and even took us to the Oistin's Fish Fry. The apartment was immaculate and a cleaner even came mid-week. When we arrived, Karene and Andrew had delicious rum punch and food waiting for us! We had absolutely everything we needed in the apartment. The location is perfect for going to the beach and exploring the island. We chose not to rent a car and the bus station was only a few minutes walk. Lovely beaches are in walking distance as well as excellent restaurants. I highly recommend this listing!

    Susan2015-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Karene and Andrews property and found it perfect what we wanted, which was to have a relaxing holiday with easy access to a beach and also to either cook our own food or be able to eat out when we fancied. Heywoods Beach is just down the road and it can either be walked (15 mins) or driven to. The beach was so lovely in fact and hassle free (ie. Very few vendors to bother you) that we didn't bother to use any other beach. There are water sports available at the beach, it is safe to swim at and it has tree cover in areas for a break from the Sun. We had driven past the more popular beaches and whilst they were pretty they were also packed with people with little free space. The apartment supplies beach towel, folding chairs and a cooler and so there is everything you need for the beach. For local eat outs we would highly recommend Orange Street Grocer and Island Plates, whilst for drinks the Bristol Beach Bar was good value. The property itself was immaculate and had everything we needed. It was cleaned halfway through our stay. It has a small balcony that was great for the two of us to have breakfast in the morning and drinks in the evening. The one concern I has was how it would work with having the owners living directly below us but this was never an issue. Indeed both Andrew and Karene were a delight to meet and they wanted to make sure we had a great time on the Island during our stay. On arrival, in which we were delayed, Andrew met us at the property and very quickly we were sharing with him the delicious Rum Punch that he had made for our arrival. The only thing I would mention is that the roosters in the area seem to crow a lot and so if you are a really light sleeper then you might want to take along your earplugs. Next time we visit Barbados we would certainly consider staying here again if we were staying in the same area.

  • Karene and Andrew are lovely people based in the house below the flat. They both work in the tourism industry and it shows in their hosting. We arrived late with our 17mth old son and they had provided the essentials including rum punch and beer! Also we did not want to travel with a cot or highchair both were arranged for us. The flat is great for a couple with children or 4 friends. Karene also arranged a car for us. It has amazing views and is fully equipped. The neighbourhood is friendly and safe. The beach is 5 minutes walk (calm clear water) and speightstown is 20 mins max. Speightstown is really nice with cafes/restaurants, market sellers and a small supermarket. We would not hesitate to recommend this flat and we will be back.

    Lauren2015-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful week in this lovely apartment near Speightstown. The apartment is spacious, well equipped, modern, and cosy at the same time. Breakfast on the balcony with the ocean in the background while watching monkeys trolling around on the neighbouring compound was a great start of each day. Karene and Andrew live downstairs and were very friendly and helpful. For example, they helped us organizing a rental car (highly recommended) and a taxi to the airport, drove us around Speightstown, and made one of the best rum punches I ever had. Speightstown is a bit quiet, but great to relax. Wonderful beaches, which wete less crowded than in Mullins, Holetown and Bridgetown. We also had great food at Juma's and Lobsterpot.

    Tim2016-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • We have just enjoyed the most perfect two weeks stay at Andrew & Karene's apartment near Speightstown. The whole experience was fantastic for us and Andrew & Karene were very professional from the moment they met us on the highway and took us back to the apartment, to ensuring all our needs were taken care of during our stay, then organising regular visits of the cleaner to the flat, and finally both of them taking time to see us, on the day we left, and wish us 'bon-voyage'. The standard of equipment/facilities in the apartment were excellent and the homely feel around the place meant we felt very comfortable staying there. We can suggest nothing that we feel could improve the whole experience. Steve & Diane, Yorkshire, England.

The condo is in a residential neighborhood on the West Coast, close to Gibbs Beach, Mullins Beach & Beach Bar. It is also within a short drive to many of the islands scenic attractions.
Aside from a fully equipped kitchen, there is a gas grill that can be used on the patio for guests that like to grill outdoors. Chris's shop is a short 3 minute walk down the street with prepared food, drink (bar) and light grocery.
Located within a quite residential neighborhood of single family homes.
  • A lovely comfortable condo in a quiet residential neighbourhood. Well equipped kitchen and clothes washer & dryer ideal for self-catering vacations. Somewhat remote from shopping, restaurants, beaches and other attractions. A rental car is a must for short stays. Understanding and accepting the vagaries of bus routes, schedules and occasional unexpected cancellations, is a necessity for extended, limited budget vacations.

  • Staying at Risha's place was wonderful for our first trip to Barbados. I was pleased that Risha checked in to make sure we were doing OK. The apartment is relatively close to the high profile areas of Holetown and Speightstown, but is a bit remote. That being said, it is recommended that you rent a car.

    Matthew2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Risha was a great host, communication was excellent. The place was lovely and had everything you needed. She definitely went out her way to make sure I had a great stay.

  • Our stay in Risha's place was great and she is an awesome host. The apartment was just as described, with an amazing kitchen and living room area. Located in a nice area, however it is a bit far from the beach if you are walking. All in all a very nice experience and would definitely recommend. Thank you Risha!

  • Risha's condo was perfect for our stay in Barbados during Crop Over. It was just as she described in her listing. She was very thoughtful and had everything in place for us when we arrived. We recommend renting a car. The condo is in a quiet residential area that isn't far from attractions, but not close enough to walk. We were very happy with our stay!

  • Risha is a fantastic host. Any question I had, she answered very quickly. Her place is clean, stylish and comfortable. My husband and I are newly-weds and we enjoyed the privacy very much. I was very sad to leave!

    Ann2016-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Risha’s place is ideal for the traveler looking for a complete space. Very roomy with all the amenities you need. It is the equivalent of getting a whole house and just having to move it. You will need to have personal transportation to get around but once that is covered you will be fine.

    Jason2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • My stay was very pleasant at Risha's home. It was very cozy and in a good location that allowed us to experience everything we wanted. Risha and her team were very helpful and coordinated trips to wonderful beaches, dining, excursions, and shopping, which allowed us to make good use of our time.
