Sanibel Island is recognized as one of the world’s best beaches. It is also known as one of the best family getaway locations for island vacations. The island is very close to the mainland, but it feels like another world. Gentle aquamarine waters of the Gulf of Mexico, golden sand and warm sun hold sway throughout the year. Sanibel is 12 miles long and 4 miles wide, and is famous for the world-class shelling beaches which stretch along the coast. The unique geographical orientation from east to west makes the beaches perfect for collecting shells from the Gulf of Mexico. With no traffic lights, neon or high-rises, Sanibel has an authentic old-world Island charm. It is unlike anything else in The United States and a Sanibel Island vacation is a dream. The Sanibel-Captiva Barrier Islands are a relatively new geological feature. It was formed within the last 6,000 years – a geological blink of an eye. The islands formed as a result of siltation and accretion, as sand was pushed onto the bedrock forming the sea floor at the edge of the mainland. Nearly half of the 12,000-acre island is designated for conservation and preservation. This is most notably in the form of the J.N. “Ding” Darling Wildlife Sanctuary, which is the largest undeveloped mangrove sanctuary in the United States. Sanibel Island has been continuously inhabited since at least 500 B.C.E, first by the Calusa Indians, then by European settlers after it was first “discovered” by Ponce De Leon in 1513. Legend has it that Ponce De Leon named the Island “Santa Isabella” after Queen Isabel while searching for the “Fountain of Youth.” In 1523, after two years attempting to establish a permanent colony, and searching in vain for the secret of eternal youth, Ponce de Leon was struck by an arrow and gravely injured in a battle with a Calusa raiding party. The Spaniards abandoned their colony in defeat and retreated to Cuba, where De Leon died from his wounds. Other legends claim the Island was named by the first mate of the famous pirate Gasparilla, after his beautiful lover Sanybel, whom he had left behind in Spain. The first known appearance of a named location on the island is from a map dated from 1765. The map was labeled Puerto de S. Nibel. Furthermore, the historic lighthouse is located at Point Ybel, derived from the original name, Santa Ybel. Sanibel is the perfect backdrop for stories of pirates and buried treasure. Many colorful and interesting characters have made the island their home. the first modern settlement on Sanibel, or “Sanybel” as it was known at the time, was established by the Florida Peninsular Land Company in 1832. The colonists abandoned Sanibel just 17 years later in 1849. After the island was repopulated in 1862, permission for a lighthouse was granted. The lighthouse was not begun until 1884, but was completed just a few months later. Since that time, Sanibel has been one of the best kept secrets for vacationers lucky enough to discover it. Through conservation, care and the love of the people who live, work and visit here, the Island maintains the rustic seaside charm which has made it the gem of the Gulf for the last 100+ years. Modern Day Sanibel Island hasn’t changed much. There are no traffic lights, and one main road. In addition, boutique shops and restaurants are alive with character. People are friendly, and it is one of the safest cities in America. Perfect for families, and pets are welcome at many hotels, condos and beaches. Furthermore, warm, sunny days are the norm, and the beaches are never crowded. The water is warm and calm, and the bottom is soft. Half of the island is conservation lands or sanctuaries. The Island also has activities for everyone. You can spend the day fishing, snorkeling or swimming. Collect shells from the beach or sunbathe. Go hiking, bike riding or kayaking. Watch live music while you eat at one of the great restaurants. Check out the Farmers markets, or visit the great art galleries. Whatever you like to do, you will find it on Sanibel Island

Just ask the locals, Bonita Springs is the gem of SW Florida. Very laid back and very much Old Florida. Just remodeled 2 bedroom 2 full bath first floor condo is minutes from the beach and around the corner from great dining and shopping. Community pool and covered cabana are prefect for small gatherings and grilling out. This is an over 55 community so one of guests does need to be at least 55 years young.

The open kitchen is well equipped with all the necessities of home. A2 has beach chairs, umbrella and beach towels so all you need to bring is a bathing suit and flip flops! There is 300 feet of dockage and no fee for your boat!
Sanibel Arms is conveniently located on the East End of the island, and only a mile and half from the Historic Sanibel Lighthouse.
  • This was a great and convenient place to stay on Sanibel! Super clean ans cute! The only thing I would say is make sure you read the description regarding where in the complex this unit is located. The photos make it appear closer to the water but it is actually across the road and a large parking lot. Not a bad walk at all, but a walk none the less.

  • The condo was very clean and well stocked. We visited with two children (3 and 5) and the condo was perfect. The location was great, steps to the beach and across the street from the bike path. We were a quick bike ride to Bailey's grocery store and lots of restaurants (all which were kid friendly). The pool was great and the clubhouse had daily children activities.

  • Great beach location on Sanibel. The condo was beautiful and very comfortable. The kitchen has everything needed to prep meals. You can be to the beach in a matter of minutes from your front door and we experienced some of the best shelling on the island right there. The in-unit laundry made it possible for us to pack light (to bring back more shells) and the comfortable living room allowed us time to relax after dark. Perfect location and will certainly be back!

  • Pointe Santo is great! A relaxing place to spend your vacation. Easy walk to the beach and pool. A few minutes car ride to all shops and restaurants. Randy’s condo was very nice. I would highly recommend staying at this condo.

  • I highly recommend this condo! My family and I vacation in Sanibel every August and Randy's place was like our home away from home. It was very clean and comfortable and there is a great view from the lanai. We will definitely look to book this condo again :)

Town of Ft. Myers Beach Registration 19-0158 Welcome to Carlos Pointe resort #321, a very nicely furnished corner 2 bedroom, 2 bath gulf front condo located just at the southernmost tip of tropical Fort Myers Beach. A secure elevator will take you to the third floor, and the entrance to the condo is to the right of the elevator and the first unit on the left from an open walkway providing views of the boulevard and back bay. Due to its unique location at the tip of the island the view covers both the Gulf and back bay. There is a wide sandy beach at your doorstep, and several miles of white sugar sand beach beyond that. If you intend to visit some of the surrounding attractions of Southwest Florida, this location also provides the choice of exiting the area via the less traffic congested Bonita Springs rather than the northern route through Fort Myers Beach. RSW International Airport is about a 25-30 minute drive, and Naples and its fine shopping and restaurants are also within an easy 20-30 minute drive. This venue is equipped with all the amenities you are accustomed to at home. The views of the Gulf of Mexico are incredible. Relax on your private balcony and watch the daily sunsets that are always a new painting each day. Amenities at this resort include a beautiful gulf-front pool with indoor lobby. At the southeast end of the building is an area set aside with gas grills for the BBQ enthusiast. There is a trolley stop right in front of the building that runs north to the Times Square area with its myriad of boutiques and restaurants, and then runs south to the Lovers Key state park and its pristine beaches. In addition, Flippers, an award-winning waterfront restaurant, is just across the bridge at Lovers Key resort. Kayak and jet ski rentals are available, as well as dolphin tours and sunset cruises around Estero Bay to the Gulf of Mexico. The restaurant is appropriately named because while dining you will most likely see dolphins passing by on their trek to and from the Gulf. Entry is into a foyer, and immediately the Gulf of Mexico comes into view beyond the screened in balcony. There is tile flooring throughout with the exception of the bedrooms, and d?cor is a beachy motif. The kitchen is to the left, with plenty of granite counterspace. It has a tray ceiling with indirect lighting, and there is also under counter lighting. A stacked washer and dryer is in the kitchen as well behind louvered doors, and is next to a window looking out toward Estero Boulevard and the back bay beyond. Appliances are all stainless steel and include refrigerator/freezer, a glasstop range with self-cleaning oven, above-range microwave, and dishwasher. There is a European style stainless steel sink with disposal, and pass-through bar into the dining/living room area with three bar stools on the dining side. Everything is provided to whip up a nice full course meal, or just to make coffee and toast in the morning. Back into the foyer and the hallway, to the right is the guest bedroom and bath. The guest bedroom is nicely furnished with two single beds, night stand and lamp, a triple dresser with wall mirror, a ceiling fan, mounted flat screen TV, and ample closet space. A window adds to the bright and airy feeling, looking out towards the front of the building at the boulevard and back bay. The adjacent guest bathroom has a linen closet, granite-top vanity with lavatory, commode, and very nicely tiled walk-in shower. There is canister lighting in the bathroom as well. Back into the hallway and past the kitchen is the dining area with a round marble-top table seating 4, with matching buffet with wine glass racks. The bright and airy living room is very nicely furnished with a leather sofa with two built-in electric recliners, as well as another matching recliner. There is an end table and lamp, with a floor lamp at one end, and a glass coffee table on an area rug. There is also a credenza with a large flat screen TV to help you keep abreast of world events ? should you so desire, and of course wireless internet is also available. From the living room through expansive sliding glass doors you will access the screened in wraparound balcony, also with tile flooring, most likely the focal point during your stay. It will provide hours of viewing pleasure of the island, surrounding beaches, and waterways, and is furnished with a round glass-top table and four cushioned chairs, as well as cushioned chaise lounge and cocktail table. As this is a corner unit the view also includes the swimming pool three floors down with its tropical setting, and further to the left one can also see the back bay. A ceiling fan will add to your comfort as well. The view is essentially 180 degrees, spanning the area from open Gulf of Mexico to the south and West to Big Carlos pass to the South and East. The skylines of Bonita Beach and Naples are on the horizon above a portion of Lovers Key state park. After a short walk to Big Carlos Pass you will most likely see dolphins on a daily basis, and depending on the season of your visit you may see the occasional sea turtle or manatee. The awesome sunsets will change daily, offering a different scene each evening. Should your visit occur during the summer, available for your viewing pleasure will be mesmerizing afternoon rains and lightning shows. Back into the living area and to the left is the master bedroom with en suite bathroom. It is very nicely furnished with a king-size bed, 2 night stands and lamps, and a wall-mounted flat screen TV. There is a triple dresser beneath the window that has the same view as from the balcony, and a walk-in closet. The bedroom has its own sliding glass doors to the balcony, allowing you to awake to gorgeous sunrises. Through a separate door is the en suite bathroom with tile flooring and walls, with granite-top vanity with lavatory with plenty of cabinets and drawer space, commode, and a nicely tiled combination tub/shower. Fort Myers Beach/Estero Island has numerous restaurants and night life for your choosing. Proceeding north from the resort, either by private car or the island's Trolley service, ultimately ends up around Times Square, with many restaurants, a Publix supermarket, cinema, public library, and many shops and boutiques along the way. Water activities abound. There's parasailing, jet ski rentals as stated above, and fishing charters to name a few. In addition there is high speed boat service to Key West, with daily round trips available. The trip takes about 3 hours each way. Whatever you like to do, you will find it on Sanibel Island.

  • The condo was great for my husband, myself and two young kids. It’s very spacious with all amenities and about a quarter mile to the beach. We had beautiful weather. Would highly recommend!

  • It was clean, quiet—the owner was very responsive. Was close to the beach.

  • Sanibel is the place to go for beachcombing and sun in January. Ed's condo is a nice place, part of a larger complex. Very family friendly. Great pool, heated which is critical in the winter. The beach is amazing, and shells are terrific. We like this location, a bit off the beaten path. Condo is simple, and clean. Decor is a bit aged and dated, but that doesn't matter too much to us. Basics are provided, but not much laundry detergent (two loads), and limited kitchen staples other than salt and pepper. Again, we travel prepared, but is you want sugar, cream, oil, etc bring your own. Good basic beach staples are in the closet, which is useful.

  • Great size and location. Edward apologized for the cold weather which he had no control over. Well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. Short walk to the beach and a closet with fun shelling tools.

  • Great location! The pool and private beach access were highlights for my family. The condo was clean and comfy just needs some updating. Honestly we were not there much! Always at the beach or enjoying the island. Edward was amazing and very communicative. Overall it was an enjoyable stay.

  • Sanibel is beautiful and this condo was great. Great pool and a quick walk to a nice beach. Its location was great too. Highly recommend

  • This condo is an excellent value. It is large and roomy both bedrooms are large. They are separated by the living area. The couch was clean and comfy for watching TV. The table is huge. We were able to work a puzzle on one end and eat on the other. The kitchens is well equipped with more pans than I have. The condo is close to the pool( which is sparkling! The guest closet is loaded with beach stuff. Even a cart to haul an umbrella and chairs and cooler. There are even fishing poles and tackle. We had a wonderful stay and saw a manatee up close and personal under the bridge crossing the bayou. I recommend this condo. And I also must admit I read all the reviews before booking. So there were no surprises. We were comfortable and had a great time!

    Terry2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Big condo. We are right next to the pool. Grill area was large. Had five grills to choose from. There is a great place to clean your shells. Kids had a great time.

  • My family had a lovely time at a nicely appointed condo with great views of the gulf. Really cute décor, great proximity to area restaurants and excellent location centrally located for biking around the island. Loved our stay and will return. Sanibel Siesta was a quieter condo community than others we have stayed in and I really enjoyed that. Nothing but the sound of the waves to lull you to sleep at night. Thanks for a great stay in one of my all-time favorite places!

We thoroughly enjoyed dinners on the lanai as well as coffee in the am watching and listening to the waves come in. Christine was readily available, extremely accommodating and helpful. Loved the location. Great Stay! Will definitely be back.
