Saint Clair Shores Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Saint Clair Shores

Our charming upper flat is the perfect place to explore the hip underdog city of Detroit! The entire apartment is modern, clean, and all yours to enjoy. Check out the rich culture, architecture and grittiness that is solely Detroit. BonVoyage :)
My partner Matt and I have a lovely flat in Hamtramck that has been restored to its original 1920s charm. Our style is intentional and warm, and decorations include things that we have collected through the years that have meaning to us. Equipped with a queen size bed in a spacious bedroom it is perfect for a couple or close friends! There’s plenty of room for an air mattress too. The living room has a couch, eating table, chair, and bar with stools for enjoying food and beverages. We provide a TV with Netflix access, games, and books for when you feel like relaxing after a long day of hanging out in the city. The brightness and vintage style of the kitchen will warm your heart. You will love cooking in this space, not to mention you will be provided with any cooking supplies you need. Lastly, the bathroom is large and clean with a vintage claw foot tub for a tranquil bath or shower. For longer stays, you are welcome to our washer and dryer in the basement.
Hamtramck is touted as ‘The World in 2 Square Miles.’ Located directly in the center of Detroit, it is a diverse city that has its roots in the rise of the auto industry. Anyone who loves history will appreciate the beauty and architecture that still exists in Detroit and Hamtramck. Originally a hub for Polish immigrants Hamtramck has maintained its eastern European flair and guests will find excellent Polish restaurants, markets with delicious pierogi, keilbasa, and stuffed cabbage along with a Polish Art Center equipped with treasured artifacts and souvenirs. Hamtramck also has some excellent Bengali, Indian, Iraqi and Yemeni food! Things to see in Detroit: Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) 4.3 miles Eastern Market 4.9 miles Heidelberg Project 4.1 miles Comerica Park and Ford Field 5.6 miles Fox Theatre 5.6 miles Renaissance Center 6 miles Detroit Opera House 5.7 miles Ann Arbor (Visit U of M!) 50 miles Henry Ford Museum 16.1 miles MGM Casino 6.3 miles Greektown and Casino 5.8 miles
  • Always a 5 star experience! We stay here every time we are in the Detroit area. It's so cozy, clean, well-stocked, spacious, and close to everything! It's perfect.

  • Loved this place! It's a cute little neighborhood pretty close to downtown. Accurate listing and Meredith & Matt made for extremely thoughtful hosts. Definitely coming back for our next Detroit week!

  • Such a great stay. Very friendly and great location

    John2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Just as wonderful the second time around. This airbnb has everything you need (well-stocked kitchenware, toiletries, etc). It's so clean that I always feel like the first guest to ever stay there, but it's cozy enough to feel just like home. Very quiet and private. The price is perfectly reasonable too. We've only met Matthew - he's the perfect host! We loved staying here, and hope they'll allow us to stay again :)

    Alyssa2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Will definitely stay here again. My pregnant wife and I stayed here 3 nights and it was like 100 degrees the whole time. The window air conditioner cooled the whole place. Very clean and great location. We dealt with Matt who was out of Country but made sure we were taken care of.

  • Mark & Meredith's apartment is super cute and I loved the charm & rustic decor they are rocking! They had everything ready to go – nice bottle of Shiraz to welcome us, along with a cute chalkboard greeting. Matt provided spot on instructions for us and even gave us a nice courtesy call (he and Meredith were out of town during our visit). The place has everything, iron board, fan, kitchen utensils, pots, towels, extra blanket, toiletries etc they even have a super informative binder for your reference that included what was nearby in terms of where to eat, drink, sight see, and other fun outings. The have a rokou set up, and wi-fii too. The neighborhood is super quiet and everyone friendly. Low-key vibe, very diverse and just overall awesome!! There is also a great grocery store about a block away that carries fresh meats, produce etc. if you feel like cooking for yourself/using their grill. There are cabs in the area too, if you aren’t driving or do not feeling like driving for the evening. I would recommend staying here for sure, and we are even planning another visit for next year! Thanks for every Mark and Meredith, your home is lovely!!! 3

  • This place was PERFECT for staying close to Detroit. We had such a great time, we almost ended the weekend with a spur-of-the-moment wedding. Matt and Meredith both were gone for the weekend, but Matt's sister was there with us and was very respectful of our privacy. If you stay with them on a weekend, make sure to hit the eastern market and then the bbq place right across the street. It's a dive bar that has some pretty kick ass ribs. The complimentary bottle of wine they provided (that didn't need a cork screw, even though my fiancé tried to use one on it) was delicious, and their house-made lotion was to die for. I don't think I've ever felt so soft in my entire life. We will definitely be going back.

    Chelsea2016-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Meredith greeted us on the day of arrival and showed us around the flat. It was beautiful, very clean, and private. Matthew and Meredith made themselves available for any questions and had a binder filled with wonderful suggestions for what to do in Detroit. They made us feel welcome, not just in their home but also to the city itself. The apartment was in an eclectic and diverse neighborhood. The house itself had a beautiful garden and always felt safe. The apartment was equipped with everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Matthew and Meredith as hosts.

The Duck 'N' Roll inn is a three bedroom home situated on a urban duck farm. A combination of contemporary features and old-time cottage charm will keep you comfortable and cozy while you enjoy Detroit's east side. It is close to Grosse Pointe, and most Detroit destinations are quickly reached by freeway.
The Duck 'N' Roll Inn has been a home to journalists, documentary filmmakers, artists, performers, urban planners and explorers, and this year, a temporary home for families reuniting. It's been a joy to teach the kids about the ducks! The "Duck 'N' Roll Inn" is an eclectic farmhouse on an urban duck farm, officially known as Laid In Detroit. The farm provides pasture raised duck eggs to Rock City Eatery, as well as local residents. Located in the easy-going east side, Laid In Detroit was voted "Best Inner City Duck Farm" by the staff of the Metro Times. Though it's not so much an "inner city" vibe as it is a laid back oasis amongst urban sprawl. It encompasses 4 city lots full of trees and garden, The house has 3 bedrooms--a nautical room, and kid friendly room, and a spacious bedroom known as "the disco room," which features a large skylight, a woodburning stove, enormous chalk boards, and a sound system with a disco ball so that it doubles as a dance floor! There is one full bath with an extra wide jacuzzi tub, as well as a half bath on the first floor. The property also features a steel bbq in the form of a dinosaur, an adobe pizza oven on site, as well as panoramic views of the gardens and the ducks frolicking in the pasture. We have a new addition to the farm! Meg, the livestock guardian dog is keeping us safe from predators and prowlers. Great Pyrenees guardian dogs are known for their friendly, gentle demeanor, as well as their superior livestock guarding abilities. When you meet her, give her a biscuit and a pat. She loves guests! (By the way, the dog is off limits to the house unless invited! No worries if you are allergic or not an animal lover.) The house is full of character with a large kitchen and dining area. The property also has many ecological features, such as a green roof over the duck coop. Your stay here will not only be relaxing and fun, but educational as well. Typical guests who have really enjoyed the Duck 'N' Roll Inn are artists, urban gardening fans, photographers, journalists, film makers, animal lovers, students, musicians, world travelers and anyone with an adventurous mindset. You can also rest easy knowing that the money from your reservation is going directly to a small farm business in a developing neighborhood in Detroit. Cornerstone Village, once a stable working class neighborhood founded by Belgian immigrants (some refer to it as "the Belgian triangle") has also been affected by the recent mass exodus from Detroit. But a strong coalition of homeowners with deep roots in the community have held things together. You will encounter some blight and vacant homes in the neighborhood. There are characters, and oftentimes people are out and about, playing music and socializing, but it is a friendly neighborhood, All guests have had a safe experience here. There are many great restaurants nearby, as well as bars, pubs, and grocery stores. The Cadieux Cafe and Ye Olde Tap Room have been around for a century. Trader Joe's and Kroger grocery are within walking distance. Laid In Detroit has hosts many events, including an annual Easter party for the kids.
  • This residence in a low key & stable neighborhood on Detroit's east side makes a great retreat. The proprietor is playing a key role in the recovery of the Cornerstone Village neighborhood by restoring three adjacent lots, and is overall a bit of a superhero- sailboat captain, musician, duck farmer, b & b caretaker... The rooms and the back yard (metal sculptures!) are artfully decorated. Renting the whole house gave us considerable privacy, but she was also quick to take up a suggestion of gathering her friends and neighbors together to support a house concert and potluck with my world folk band. This was a memorable Detroit experience!

  • Suzanne was a wonderful host! On top of providing us with a unique AirBnB, she greeted us upon our arrival and made us feel very welcome. Fantastic time, warm environment, and LOADS of ducks. The city center was easily accessible from the space and I would recommend this to anyone.

    Justin2015-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne greeted us, even though our flight was delayed and we got into Duck N' Roll near midnight! She was super sweet and welcoming. The house is as described. Skylights are beautiful and the house is spacious with a earthy vibe.

    Shannon2015-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit to Suzanne's Duck'n'Roll, and it was just as great as last time. It's a beautiful house that emits a cottage feel, right in the city. It's the place I'll stay when in Detroit! I love the ducks!

    Jenelle2013-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The place was fine. It's always interesting to see a place v. the images in the description. Overall, I really liked the house, lots of space and an interesting back yard. The neighborhood was scary.

  • We absolutely loved our stay at the "Duck 'N' Roll Inn!" There were three of us and we had all the space and comfort we needed to enjoy ourselves. While we spent a lot of time downtown (20 minute drive), we really enjoyed the cozy home, ducks, and especially Meg! Meg is such an adorable (and huge!) doggie. She immediately went into protection mode, after we loved on her of course, to keep the boogie man away at night. Lol. We had the entire house, complete privacy, and Suzanne was nice enough to let us check out a little later than normal. EXCELLENT water pressure in the shower, with an overhead window to let natural light in from above. I highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be coming back for another hockey trip next year. Thanks for everything, Suzanne!

    Dan2016-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne's place was great. Very accommodating, with all of the conveniences of home and then some. Felt like I was at a cottage "up north." I would definitely stay again the next time I come to Detroit!

    Joseph2015-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne answered all of my inquiries promptly and when we arrived she was gracious and helpful. She has a wonderful and comfortable house for guests. It's roomy enough for a family and full of quirky charm. We loved watching the ducks outside as well. Definitely a unique AirBNB experience. Suzanne even made us a delicious duck egg quiche for breakfast!

This home, located right next door to my residence, is the third Detroit home I've taken on as a renovation. It still has a few more details to hammer out, but due to the huge demand for accommodations, I decided to list it early at a discount rate. It is adjacent and connected to my urban duck farm!
I'm not going to lie, since the housing crash, many people left this neighborhood, so there is blight, empty houses, and empty lots where houses used to be. But the good news is, it is considered one of the more stable neighborhoods in the city. In the entire three years I have been renting on airbnb, over 100 rentals per year, we have not experienced a single crime incident. We are also located blocks from Grosse Pointe, one of the safest suburbs in the area, where there is shopping, groceries, coffee shops, restaurants, and most other amenities.
  • Very comfy house with a considerate owner! Light sleepers beware – it can be a little loud with ducks in the backyard and curtains separating sleeping areas.

    Matthew2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • I was in town for work. This place was quiet, and relaxing. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The Internet wasn't working - but I always come prepared for that, so it wasn't a big deal. I highly recommend this place.

    Nathan2016-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • suzanne was very accommodating and helpful and the flat was perfect. we had everything we needed in this comfortable and spacious house.

    Karla2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cant beat the price!

    Ryan2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was by far the best experience I've had being in someone else's home. When you step in it feels like HOME. YOU NEVER WANT TO LEAVE. It has all of the perks you want and even some you didn't know you wanted. The host was ALWAYS AVAILABLE. She was the perfect host from start to finish. The place was clean. The furniture was comfortable and even with my God children visiting it was a wonderful and comfortable time for them. I will definitely be using the host and her properties for more "daycations" and family events.

    Ricky2017-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, extremely comfy beds and pillows. I would definitely stay again!

    Victoria2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We were in and out pretty quickly (just a brief overnight stay), but accommodations were as described. Because our stay was short, we didn't have a chance to interact much with Suzanne, but she was very quick to respond to messages throughout the booking process and was available if we had any issues or questions during our stay.

    Elizabeth2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne's place worked out perfectly for us. It's a work-in-progress, but still very comfy and has everything we needed. Her instructions were clear and easy to follow. The double bed was super comfy. I slept like a log! Good coffee too and the shampoo and conditioner were a nice perk.

This cottage like home is close to The Detroit River, Canals, Residential Islands, and Grosse Pointe. You’ll love this cozy home, filled with lots of natural light, and right next to a major bus line for easy access to downtown. The space is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
Hello! Welcome to Jefferson Chalmers! I have done much traveling, and I know the importance of having a friendly, clean, and safe refuge when traveling in unknown territory. Jefferson Chalmers is the neighborhood that I grew up in, and I have been working on homes here to preserve the community. This home is one of them. It is a very cozy cottage like space, a perfect place to use as a home base for touring the City. There are three full time residents here, an artist, a clothing designer, and a dancer. The home is always full of interesting and friendly people. There is one full bath and and a full open kitchen which is available for cooking and storing food. This house was built in the 20s but was abandoned for many years and suffered a lot of damage. I just finished its rehab and am happy to see it alive again. Instead of a full tear out I tried to preserve the existing detail that is created when a house is abandoned. Income from the home will go into further renovations over time and will slowly erase the scars of abandonment. Given the increasing interest in Jefferson Chalmers, and given my need to fund my preservation projects in the community, I decided to make this space available to travelers looking for a quality, laid back living space for a reasonable price. This provides a place for you, brings awareness to the Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood, and funds improvements on the Marlborough block!
The housing consists of bungalows and Arts and Crafts houses built in the early 20th Century that have maintained their character and beauty. Most blocks have many owner occupied houses and mowed lawns. The neighborhood is on the Detroit River and is bordered by beautiful river side parks, canals, and residential islands accessible by bridge. The Jefferson-Chalmers Business District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 and is one of a few early twentieth-century neighborhood commercial districts that still survive in Detroit. During the 1920s, this district along Jefferson was the center of the east-side neighborhood's commercial, social, and cultural life. The district is unique in that two big-band era ballrooms, the cultural fulcrums of the early 20th century social scene, still exist within the district: the Monticello and the Vanity Ballroom.
  • Very welcoming host! Had a great experience in the house with great proximity to downtown Detroit.

    Jenna2016-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend staying at this listing. Between the fantastic location, accommodations, and friendly people, you can't find a better value for your money. Great restaurants near by and conveniently located near all the cool attractions Detroit has to offer.

  • I always feel at home when I have an opportunity to stay here.

  • We had a great night at Aragorn's. The room was clean, warm and cozy and just as described in the listing. The neighbourhood felt safe and was close to lots of great places to eat and see. Aragorn's detailed suggestions for what to do/where to go/eat was thorough and very helpful. Have to add that Jon is easily the best host we've ever had! He was so friendly, kind and engaging. We were lucky to be able to talk to him and learn more about he neighbourhood and the history of Detroit. Overall, a really great, affordable place to spend a couple of nights or more. Would love to come back in the summer :)

    Anita2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying in Detroit, and we loved this space. The neighborhood is green and beautiful, with families all around. The space was very clean, and John was communicative and welcoming. The house is definitely set up as an Airbnb business, yet it felt warm and homey :) highly recommended!

    Phoebe2017-06-20T00:00:00Z

Spacious First Floor Apartment. Safe, well lit, street parking. Walking distance to local restaurants, bars, markets, gas stations and theatre. Very diverse in population. A City within the City of Detroit.
Guests have their own private apartment with separate entrance. This is on the 1st floor (6 small steps) in a shared unit multi-unit house. 2 Bedrooms. 1 queen size and other has a full size mattress. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. Good water pressure. Parking is on the street, but there is almost always a spot directly in front of the house, and never more than one block away. Private entrance to your apartment. Free and Fast WiFi. BlueRay Player. Smart TV. Back yard with a fire pit. Access to back balcony with porch swing. I love greeting guests when they arrive and making sure they have everything they need. Beyond that, I will give you your space and will not knock on your door unnecessarily. I am always available by phone for urgent matters. Come see what all the talk is about!! A great city with a lot to offer. Hamtramck is the donut hole of Detroit. It's a city within the City of Detroit. 2 mile square radius with around 23 different languages spoken. No matter who you are, you will not stick out here. Everyone is welcome! They call it a piece of Europe in America! People ask me all the time if it's safe here??? My response is: Yes, is as safe, but like any big city, always have an extra eye out. Be mindful of your surroundings and don't leave things like bags, GPS, phones etc visible in your car. Hamtramck has it's own police force & fire department and they are very present. As far as Detroit goes, it gets more of a bad rap then what is actually going on. Our city has cleaned up very much in the last 5 years. I have been living here in and out my whole life and (knock on wood) never have had any issues. Anything goes here. It almost fells like you are (email hidden). Many artist live here and the community is very open. I'm sure you will leave pleased if you decide to give it a try and not be afraid of something a little different. Hamtramck is a walking friendly city. Ubar Car just arrived! Taxicab & Bus stop just 2 blocks away. Please let me know if you need a ride to or from the airport. $30 each way depending on availability.

  • I stayed here for a couple of days over Veterans Day with a friend, and we had a great experience. Check-in instructions were very simple, the place was clean and had lots of cool art/antiques/gadgets to look at, and street parking was always available in front of the apartment. Kaitlyn and Teena were easy to get ahold of and responded almost immediately to all of my messages. They also left very helpful instructions/recommendations about Wifi, TV, restaurants, etc. We went out one night and decided not to drive, and we were able to request an Uber within a 5-7 minute radius. It was also easy to drive from Hamtramck to everywhere we went in Detroit within 5-10 minutes which was a huge plus. PS: my friend swears the purple chair in the living area is the most comfortable thing she has ever experienced.

    Moriah2014-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Teena was a excellent host and the apartment was perfect—lovely, clean, and spacious, with everything I needed to feel at home. Good location, too. One of my best Airbnb experiences.

    Nicole J2014-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The listing was exactly as expected and advertised. Very clean, comfortable, spacious and affordable. This was our first Airbnb experience and Teena helped us through the process. By text or email the hosts stayed in touch with us before the weekend and through the weekend to remind us that they were available if we should need them. Visiting our son in Hamtramck we learned it is a great city with lots of diversity. He, as well, was impressed with apartment and will certainly recommended to all his out of town visitors. Hopefully, it will be available next time we visit Hamtramck.

    Denise2014-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • It's a very specious, clean and bright apartment. The hostess were very helpful. If we visit Detroit again, we would like to stay again in this beautiful apartment.

    Mila2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our host greeted us in the yard, welcomed us into the apartment and offered up many suggestions of places to visit while we were in Detroit. The apartment was very large and had very cool decorations throughout. Parking was convenient and the neighborhood felt safe. I cannot wait to come back to Detroit after this trip!

    Henry2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The host canceled this reservation 24 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • We stayed at Teena's for the first few days of a week we spent biking around Detroit. Teena's was very comfortable and we slept well after long days on our bikes.

    Marnie2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Teena's home was really nice! It was clean and cozy, with all the necessary amenities. Her home was short drive to the highway, making it really easy to get around the city with no traffic problems. We also spent some time in the backyard hanging out at night, and it was pretty lovely. When I go back to Detroit, which I will, I hope to stay there again!

  • Teena and her friend were very welcoming and helpful. The appartment is great; in size and equipment. A bus station is also around the corner. Would definitely come back to Teena and her home again for future trips to Detroit. Highly recommended.

  • What a lovely little place to stay in Hamtramck. Very cozy with nice goodies upon arrival. Couldn't be closer to I-75. The gate sticks a little and the shower handle is backwards (cold is hot, hot is cold), but street parking was easy, and the apartment is great!

  • This rental is amazing and the pics don't do it justice. It's clean, well lit, super comfortable, and has everything you need... including a flatiron! Plus the hosts are so nice and were super accommodating. It's in a great neighbourhood with lots to do, and is in an ideal location as you can get everywhere in the city fast. Loved it and we'll be back again!

  • Teena's place was the perfect place to stay for the long weekend my boyfriend and I were there! The location was great and the ambiance of her apartment was perfectly warm and cozy. It was truly a delight to stay there-- we both felt extremely comfortable and safe.

  • We were in town to enjoy the fishing in Lake St Clair. In years past we would stay at one of the hotels in Roseville which was a 20 minute drive to the lake. This year I decided to go the Air BnB route and that is how I found Sandy's place. We were pleased to find Sandy's condo easy to find and easy to get in and out of. It was clean and comfortable and had everything 2 guys on a fishing trip needed. I'll definitely be booking again if it's available for my next trip

  • If you are looking for a no-frills place that has easy access to highways, easy biking routes, and is shockingly quiet for being just off the more busy 10 mile road then look no further. The room has black out shades which was awesome for sleeping. It was very cozy with not a ton of space to move around but offers the basics for the weekend traveler on a budget. Michelle is very kind and absolutely loves her 3 little dogs. She is super earth conscious which is a definite plus. The dog are sure to greet you when you come in the door. Laundry being available was extremely convenient.

Only 5 minutes to Lake St. Clair and Grosse Pointes, 10 minutes to Royal Oak, and 15 minutes to downtown Detroit. Clean, well appointed, and very conveniently located. A newly renovated kitchen, refinished wood floors, and fantastic location are highlights. The master bedroom has a brand new mattress set and all the bathroom and bed linens are high quality and new. The bathroom is stocked with lots of quality linens and you'll find toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, body wash, shampoo, and disposable razors in the vanity cabinet for your use. A very nice, 8-place table service set is found in the glass cabinet in the walk-in pantry. The kitchen has a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, stove/oven, etc. if you don't see something that you'd expect, you'll probably find it in the pantry, lazy Susan, on the bar cart, or in the compartment below the oven. If not, just ask! Everything in the place is for your enjoyment, so please enjoy. Feel free to unwind in front of the new LED flatscreen television with Xfinity Cable TV and 75 Mbps wifi. If you'd like to plug in directly, you can also use the patch cord connected to the router. • John's friendliness and attention to our needs was over the top and made our stay really special. My husband & I are sorry that we didn't have time get to know each other better over a beer. John's apt. for perfect for our needs in a nice neighborhood. We are very happy to recommend John as a very attentive host!

  • Needed a place to stay last minute and John came in to save the day with this listing. Exactly as expected and then some. Check in and Check out was easy, and John was extremely helpful throughout the whole process making sure we were okay during the stay. Nothing beats a host that cares about your stay. Will definitely be staying here next time around!

  • My month stay was good, despite some unusual things encountered during our stay that we dealt with, until after checking out the host made false accusations about items missing (that were never there to begin with) and damaged items. Tenants in the building warned us upon arrival about trust factors.

  • We stayed here for a week on our annual trip to visit family in the area. John's place worked great for us to sleep and cook a quick meal in between family activities. The neighborhood was very quiet, felt safe, and was close to the grocery store, highways, etc. Apartment was exactly as described and shown in photos, and well maintained. Check in and check out were easy. John was a great host, very attentive and respectful. He asked us for suggestions and is committed to making sure guests have a good experience. We mentioned that a bedside table and lamp would be a good addition to the apartment in the future, and he unexpectedly brought them over the next day! We plan to stay here again in future years because it worked out so well.

Fully updated 2br 900 sqft home on nice street near lake. One queen and one twin bed, 1st floor laundry, lovely large fenced back yard and conveniently located near all major highways, just a half mile from Lake St. Clair.
There is Wifi included, but there is no cable, we do however get 33 HD channels with an antenna. The large yard is fenced.
  • First thing I have to say is how amazing this location is. There are quite a few restaurants/grocers within walking distance that we really enjoyed. Eastside Bagel, Grubhouse, Uncle Harry's, Wally's, The National, and Gilbert's were all wonderful. Family friendly. Walkable. The house itself is a combination of dated and dirty & modern and clean. It was odd because we really loved our stay and would stay again (mostly because of the price and location). However, every day we discovered something else that needed to be done. One evening, in the middle of the stay, there was an infestation of mosquitos. We took care of it and never saw them again. Dust was EVERYWHERE - but we ended up cleaning most of it. The microwave was disgusting. Again. We cleaned it. We joked over and over that the house was returned cleaner than it had ever been. The owner's communication is spectacular. We would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a longer stay on a budget and are willing to clean yourself.

  • We booked 4 nights with Chris, he had an air mattress but it had a big gash in it, so we basically ended up sleeping on a thin foam thing on the floor. And he kept it a little too chilly in the house, then complained about us turning the heat up. It was only in the teens outside. We also only had one pillow and one thin blanket.

Quaint home in suburban neighborhood, just a few minute walk to a nearby waterfront park with play area for kids, volleyball court, fishing access and views of lake Saint Claire. Behind our house is a wooded area so it's peaceful to sit on the back deck and enjoy the birds and rabbits. Quiet and safe neighborhood with a L’Anse Cruise school nearby. Lake Saint Clair Metropark is a few miles drive away. Detroit is 25 mins drive unless heavy traffic. Requires own transportation.
Common areas include full access to kitchen, living room, tv room, bathroom and fenced backyard with porch. You will have your own bedroom. Bathroom is shared but we can accommodate any specific bathroom times you may need. If the weather allows, we have yard games for the backyard or to take to the nearby beachside Park. We also have an outdoor fire pit for bonfires on fall nights.
We love living here with the forest like area behind the backyard and the water nearby. Although still in surburbia, it makes it feel like a getaway and some peace away from the chaos of the city life.

  • Thank you very much for your hospitality (again). Our experience was excellent, with clear instructions on location and entry (at any hour). The room had a queen bed, with lovely bedding, and an extra blanket for a very cold night (in April!). The bottled water and snacks were welcome (which we took to our Tiger Baseball game). As usual, we enjoyed walking down the street for a delicious breakfast at the Original Pancake House (yum-Apple german pancake). The house and neighborhood is very quiet, and a great East-side location (near I-94,and Grosse Pointe).

Welcome weary travelers! Need a place to stay for a short while? Share my cozy, quaint (small) home while you are here.
I have a room in my two bedroom, one bath house. You have the entire upstairs - which has a sitting area, a bedroom, a microwave, coffee maker, and a cold water sink. You are welcome to use the one in the kitchen. For your comfort, there is a heater and portable air conditioning unit so that you may control the temperature. My home is about 13 miles outside the city of Detroit. It is advisable that you have transportation, although the bus stop is only six blocks away. I have an old bicycle that you are welcome to take out if you want. ** There are times where I may be out of town and willing to rent the entire house - prices may differ but - please inquire! And I am working to get a Small Grosse Pointe apartment airbnb ready.... Please ASK**
I am very near the intersection of two major highways - making it very easy to get anywhere quickly!
  • Excellent little cottage home loft space in a nice neighborhood. Sandy kept in touch with me to communicate how to get into her house since I was arriving quite early and she had another obligation to attend to. She left detailed information about her home and the surrounding area for me upon check-in. Overall, my stay was just as expected and I will keep Sandy in mind when I am in the area again.

Sandy was able to accommodate our last-minute reservation and we found everything to be completely satisfactory. Sandy was friendly and informative, and we would definitely stay with her again when we return to Detroit. Thanks to Sandy for a very pleasant stay!

  • Great stay with Sandy. Room is clean, quiet, and cozy. Ample safe parking, nice art-filled house (the pieces of Pewabic pottery are gorgeous!) and a large park-like back yard. Sandy is a warm and welcoming host. She'll give you as much info. about the area and Detroit as you want, or let you be, whichever you prefer.

  • Sandy is the quintessential host, and I mean that sincerely. Her place is clean, super cute, and in a real quiet suburb in close proximity to a few major highways, making getting in and out a breeze. Room was stocked with everything from a comfy well made bed and fresh towels to a bowl of some fresh fruit and bottled waters. Stay here and have your expectations exceeded, easily.

  • My home away from home! My stay at Dave's was great, both him and Olga are great to talk to, and extremely helpful. They were able to help me a lot. I was initially going to stay for a week, but decided to extend for an additional week. 100% recommended!

  • I wanted to make sure I leave these two a review. I stayed with them for a month and it was the best airbnb experience I have had. Both Dave and Olga were very nice and made sure I had a great experience. The room is upstairs, so you can have your privacy coming in and out. Room and bathroom was very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Couldn't of asked for a better experience. Truly what airbnb was meant for. Highly recommend and would stay again.
