  • The house is great and a short drive to some great hiking in Shenandoah. The house is secluded, surrounded by trees and very quiet at night. We had the windows open and there was a nice cross breeze through the house. Great spot for rest and relaxation! There was even a first aid kit which came in handy after a little fall on the trails.

  • Well decorated home

  • We had a great weekend at the loft! The house looked just like the pictures, and we enjoyed the personal touches around the house. We enjoyed the board games and the deck. We also enjoyed the use of the kayak and the lake! We hope to return soon!

    Jeff2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very clean and well-appointed, with comfortable beds and couch and a nice table. It fit two couples nicely. The location--just 15 minutes from the entrance to Shenandoah--couldn't be beat. We had a great time.

  • Great base to explore Shenandoah National Park. Very nice stay.

    Tom2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Place was very clean and dog friendly! Great time. I would recommend this place to anyone.

  • We stayed at the Loft for 3 days in May. It was fabulous! Very clean, good bedding, beautiful location and all the things you need to cook great meals including a gas grill! My wife is very picky about where she stays and she gave me 2 big thumbs up! Thanks to Paul & Marilee for making me a hero. If you are a hiker like we are, you can get to Old Rag and lower White Oak Canyon in about 40 minutes and to trails near Big Meadows in ~30 minutes. Perfect!

    Paul2017-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were in town for a wedding and enjoyed our stay at Paul and Marilee's place. We had some last minute changes and they were very accommodating. Check-in was a breeze, and the place was immaculately clean. We would not hesitate to stay here again in the future!

    130 reviews
Brand new guest house on welcoming farm. 23 minutes from UVA, 20 minutes to the blue ridge mountains and hiking trails. 20 minutes to Montpelier and 45 to Monticello. Located in a private rustic setting. We have an additional space next door in our lower level of existing home that allows for additional guests if needed for large groups as well as a large ballroom for events.
This space was built for our 10 children to return home with their children. Lol but none are married or have kids yet. So bring your family to enjoy the space built for families to gather.
We live on a private lane with only 1 neighbor across the lane.
  • We had a great time at Chena's place. I believe we were some of the first guests so there were a couple quirks to work out, door got stuck for example, but the family responded pretty much immediately so it wasn't a problem. There was plenty of bed space and a good common area. Everything was comfortable. There are a few small improvements that can be made but overall it was an amazing deal for the price and location.

  • Everything was exactly as listed. My boyfriend and I stayed a night before heading to Shenandoah the next day. I loved everything about the place, especially the tall ceilings and the comfy bed. Had we been there longer, the deck would have gotten some use as well. We appreciated the breakfast food left in the fridge. We would stay here again.

    Lauren2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This home is exactly as described and is cozy and cute. It was the perfect home while we were visiting the area. The home was kid friendly including electrical sockets covers, included a wonderful playset, toys/balls in the backyard and plenty of space to play with them. My toddler, puppy and I thoroughly enjoyed this home. David was a wonderful thoughtful host who was very accommodating to special requests and responded quickly to questions. I highly recommend this host and home to those looking in the area. We will certainly check availability at this home 1st next time we are in the area.

    Ann2016-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • David's house is very comfortable, everything you need to enjoy some time away. The location is great, very close to Shenandoah National Park and Montpelier, both of which we wanted to visit. Big kitchen, attractive deck, "country" location. David is easy to work with and responsive to questions.

    Deborah 2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay. Would recommend to anyone hoping to visit the Charlottesville area.

  • Quite house that was great for pets!

    Bill2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at David's place for a week over Easter with our daughter, grandkids and our dog. The house was perfect for us - comfortable and with everything we could want, including toys for the kids, a great backyard with playground and a doggie door! The kids were thrilled with the playground and we had wonderful weather to enjoy being outdoors. The area is new to us and we all enjoyed hiking and picnicking in the Shenandoah National Forest, visiting a winery and going into Charlottesville. Thank you David for a memorable vacation!

Midway between Charlottesville and Culpepper. Both offer a plethora of amazing restaurants, fantastic shops, and live music entertainment. Too many wineries, antique shops, and boutiques to count, within 5-30 minutes, yet set on 5 spectacular acres of total, complete privacy with views of the mountains. Enjoy nature at its finest, play a game of tennis or a quick round of basketball right in the back yard! Also available are cornhole/outdoor games, board games and more.
The space is the lower level of our walk out home. Full size windows in all rooms. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and plenty of space for an air bed in the common area, or a room with no windows, not shown.
This is the most private you will ever see on a five acre lot. The beauty and sounds of nature are fantastic!!
  • We had two couples stay here for a wedding weekend in Stanardsville. Very very very good value if you are looking to find an alternative to hotels in the Charlottesville area. Two bedrooms (and extra room with mattress), FULL kitchen (definitely bring food for your own meals to save money if you want!), dining room, living room, private access, super easy "check in/out", and accommodating with extra supplies if we needed them (we needed an ironing board and one was set out for us when we got there!). Easily sleeps 6, price increases slightly per night with more than 2 guests, but still an amazingly ridiculous deal for what you get! The space was larger than imagined. Parking is separate and the access is through the backyard (the whole place actually looks nicer in person than in the pictures!) Great for families or just a couple. TV worked great, plenty of games and books to read. Plenty of towels provided for the bathroom. Some mini shampoos/body wash/conditioners available, but I'd recommend bringing your own if you'll be there with a whole family for more than one night. Tonya was very nice and happy to greet us when we got there. They had coffee and provided basic cooking needs (salt, pepper, oil, etc). Definitely off the beaten path but the house is nothing short of modern and up to date, and really was only a few miles from the main highway (so I actually enjoyed the short drive through working farm land and down a quaint gravel road). Only setback was the ceiling seems to not be insulated with the drop ceiling so at times we could hear footsteps and movement upstairs (honestly not a big deal at all), and the wifi was spotty and sometimes I had no service whatsoever, but thankfully didn't really need to use my phone for much that weekend. Overall, VERY nice value and very accurate listing with great access to the greater Charlottesville area without all the hustle and bustle and noise of the city!! Would definitely stay again!

    Laura2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tonya was helpful whenever we had questions. Her place was very clean and easy to access.

    Tanner2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible weekend staying at Tonya's amazing place. The entire place was very clean and comfortable. We had a little trouble finding the place because we arrived too late and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map wasn't very accurate. Tonya and her family were very friendly and nice enough to lend us their grill and fire place. She also offered to cook our food in her own oven when we couldn't get the grill working for us. We would definitely come back if we were to come to the area again!

    Lilly2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very scenic drive to Tonya's place, close to wineries, and a decent distance to drive to Charlottesville. Good for a girl's relaxing weekend.

    Christina2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tonya's place is lovely. The flat was much bigger than I had expected and the layout of the space and the rooms is great! The kitchen had all the necessary basics and Tonya provided anything we couldn't find (in our case, a roasting pan). The outdoor space is amazing too - we were there with 6 noisy kids and they loved playing on the swings and seeing the chickens etc. Tonya was very quick at responding to messages and very helpful! And the flat has all the necessary information on the nearby attractions (Shenandoah National Park, wineries etc). Perfect place for a great weekend catching up with friends! Thank you!

    Emilie2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The host canceled this reservation 71 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

    Chris2017-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Tonya's place was the perfect last minute weekend getaway. It was a great location to visit local wineries and scenic views! The apartment was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Since it is the lower level of the house we could hear foot traffic which made it a little difficult to relax but we throughly enjoyed our stay otherwise watching movies, playing monopoly and escaping the norm! We highly recommend visiting The First Colony winery and Michael Shaps winery.

    Dale2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tonya's place was very comfortable for us and our three kids (including an infant). The kids loved the swings, playing monopoly, and watching movies. There are plenty of amenities to make things comfortable and the setting is very pretty. The house is set back in a large, private yard. It is a quiet setting with easy access to many stores and restaurants. The drive over to Charlottesville, Crozet, and the mountains is doable and scenic. It's a very comfortable and roomy place to stay with kids and still have easy access to the mountains and popular things to do in the surrounding area!

    The Getaway!!
    14 reviews
Cozy, log cabin with mountain views, near wineries, Shenandoah National Park, and Charlottesville. For the business traveler, we are located 10 minutes from IIHS, 15 minutes from NGIC and 20 minutes from the Charlottesville airport.
We live in a log home on 10 acres with beautiful mountain views! We look forward to welcoming you to stay at our newly built log cabin! Since we do live next door, we can easily be reached if any need arises. We have two horses, a donkey, and some chickens and love to tell all about them if you would like!
Across the street is a dairy farm!
  • The cabin was great as were the views. I arrived at dark and was pretty amazed by the golden fall leaves and orange and pink clouds at down scattered across the horizon. I also can't describe how beautiful the surrounding countryside was. I see now why Jefferson decided to settle in the area. The host, Carolene was also very thoughtful leaving some local snacks and bottled water for me. The cabin itself was nice and cozy. The first floor was an open floorplan with a comfortable queen bed and new hardwoods. The bathroom was very modern and the opposite of what one might expect from a cabin. Overall the craftsmanship was very good.

    Justin2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • so happy to have been the first. amazing hospitality. beautiful cabin. love that shower!

    April2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful cabin was absolutely perfect! They're wonderful hosts, and live right next door if you need anything. Even with fog covering the mountain view, the land around the property is still a million dollar view, and their gorgeous horses helped with that! The autumn leaves made the landscape even more beautiful, as well as the drive up to the property. The basket of baked goods were almost immediately inhaled, and the local restaurants that they are happy to recommend took care of any cravings the pastries didn't fulfill. And trust me, the photos of that amazing shower don't do it justice! It's a shower you'll be comparing all other showers to! Little touches like the keyless entry, multitude of windows allowing lots of light (and blinds for when you want to sleep in), a Keurig machine, roomy mini fridge, and comfortable beds made this stay into a home away from home that lifts it above any other Airbnb in the area!

If you love the outdoors this is the place for you! Very quiet and peaceful with lots of wildlife around. A nice back deck you can sit out on and grill out. In the winter when the leaves fall we have a beautiful view of the mountains. We have a full 7 acres that you have access to with a fire pit for camp fires.
We have a nice cabin like living room area with deer, bear, and fish mounts on the walls. We have a couple recliners with a sofa that has a couch bed. The kitchen area has a sink, mini fridge, coffee, griddle, toaster oven, and microwave. The space is the downstairs apartment only.
The neighborhood is very quiet and secluded. But we are only a 25 minute drive to downtown Charlottesville where there is lots of fun stuff to get in on. We are also just 10 minutes from Ruckersville and 20 minutes from the skyline drive. There are also a lot of winery's around the area.
  • Very clean and private area in the heart of many vineyards. Josh and Megan were very hospitable! Definitely looking forward to our next mountain trip

    Rachael2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is secluded and quiet, cozy and comfy, and the bed is insanely comfortable! There isn't much by way of a kitchen, but sufficient if you are out and about. There's a great diner about 3 miles away, Rylie's Diner. Clean and tidy apartment, we enjoyed it!

    Sandy2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • This "tiny oasis" was very clean and easy to come home too. The living area was cozy and private with a view of the woods and awesome stars at night. The bed was comfy and the kitchenette just enough to prepare some basic eatin'. The hosts were a young lovely couple who really cared. Wouldn't hesitate to go back!

    Trevor2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Right in the middle of Monticello wine country. Walking distance to a winery. Josh's place was quiet, clean, spacious, and had enough amenities to be comfortable for a weekend wine country getaway. It is exactly as described and pictured in the air bnb listing. Josh was easy to communicate and quick to respond. We'll definitely be back!

    Andrew2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Cute place in a quiet, peaceful, and relaxing setting. I stayed with Megan and Josh for a month while in the process of moving to Charlottesville and highly recommend their place. The basement Airbnb apt was clean and exactly as described. They responded quickly to any questions but otherwise gave me privacy. The location is very quiet and peaceful but close enough to everything that I could need.

    Lisa2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Probably the best place I've ever stayed. Josh and Megan were absolutely wonderful and did everything they could to make me feel at home. 10/10 would rent again.

  • This home was so full of loving touches. It could not have been more comfortable, peaceful, clean, and special. Our only regret was that we weren't staying for the week. We spent breakfast the first morning of our two day stay trying to figure out when we could return for a longer stay. Virginia has thought of absolutely everything. She was easy to communicate with even when we weren't, (because we were in the mountains without reception).

    Joan (JT)2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Ordinary is a wonderful historic house in a spectacular setting. The house is beautifully decorated, complete with all amenities, cozy, clean, and very comfortable. The privacy is delightful. Nothing was lacking, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped. Virginia has done a fantastic job of making her guests fell completely at home and we particularly enjoyed talking with her about the history of the house. We cannot say enough good things about the Ordinary and wish that we could have stayed longer.

    Mike2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at "The Ordinary"! Virginia met us at the door when we arrived and was very welcoming. She provided a tour of the house pointing out many details to help us get settled. She's provided all the comforts of home. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We found many quiet, relaxing spots throughout the house to enjoy a cup of coffee or read a book. We loved sitting on the screened sun porch in the mornings with a view of the hillside filled with nature. The property is wonderfully quiet and secluded as well. We saw deer, squirrels, a variety of birds and the horses, of course. My one comment for those considering The Ordinary is that the stairs are quite steep and doorway ceilings low. We're average-sized adults and didn't have any issues, but for someone very tall or large or with mobility issues, moving around might be prohibitive. Or if you have toddlers, the steep stairs could be a safety issue. With that said, its a lovely place with sweet British touches in the decor. I would recommend it for most anyone. We look forward to returning in the future.

    Nancy2016-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • A great home, filled with style and character, in a postcard setting -- all made better by Virginia, the charming host. We were in the area for a wedding and decided to make it a country weekend. We could not have asked for a cozier base camp.

    Ron2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend at 'The Ordinary', which is truly a one-of-a-kind place to stay. The house is as beautifully restored as the online photos show, and the location in the Virginia countryside is the perfect balance between secluded retreat (the fireflies in the evening and stars at night are sights in and of themselves to behold) and convenient home base to nearby attractions (wineries just minutes away, and only 25-30 min to Charlottesville). Virginia is thoughtful down to the small details, including fresh-cut wildflowers and extra toiletries that may have been forgotten. We're very appreciative that Virginia and 'the Ordinary' made our small family getaway so special this weekend, and we already look forward to the chance to visit again!

    Jake2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Ordinary is anything but! Virginia was a great host and the house was absolutely lovely! We will definitely be returning this Fall!

    Mike2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is lovely, warm and comfortable. The kitchen lackd nothing. The surrounds allow for some brisk hiking. Petting the horses in the adjoining paddocks were an added bonus. Virginia made sure we were settled and cared for. Her touches to the place really make it a home away. Photos don't do it justice. A++

  • We enjoyed our stay at " The Ordinary" so much we hope to return again sometime soon. It was a perfect place to meet together with old friends . Since it was our first visit to Charlottesville we did visit Monticello but we all were eager to return to the house to relax and enjoy the peaceful setting . No detail was left undone and the home was so comfortable it felt like home the minute Virginia greeted us and showed us around . What a special place to enjoy !

  • Bonnie's little cabin was quaint, cozy, nicely decorated and very comfortable to sleep in. We had everything we needed. Bonnie was very accommodating and allowed us to check out a little later than we had initially planned and was quick to respond to all communication. I would definitely stay again. The only thing I could not find was a wine opener so maybe bring your own. Otherwise, everything else was stuck in the kitchen and bathrooms. We were comfortable and would definitely visit again. The river view is breathtaking in the mornings

    Ashley2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Pop' Place was absolutely perfect. We wanted something secluded yet comfortable and convenient and this fit the bill perfectly. The cabin is adorable and in pristine condition. We SO enjoyed just lounging on the porch, reading and drinking beer and taking in the scenery. Doug and Bonnie were such kind hosts, always available for anything we needed but very respectful of our privacy. We will definitely be returning here for a weekend in the (hopefully) not so distant future and recommend it to anyone looking to unplug and relax!

  • So peaceful! I only stayed for one night but I felt like I had a week long vacation. This is a great place to relax and reboot

    Jamila2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful property. You couldn't ask for a better view! We enjoyed sitting on the porch and staring at the water, reading our books, and having coffee. It was just so relaxing. We did go out in a canoe and had a great time exploring. The fire pit was perfectly located along the river, and we were very appreciative of Bonnie's offer to help ourselves to firewood. We also loved the dog, Rachel's visits with us. She is so sweet and was a pleasure to have around. The cabin was very cozy, and we slept very well. While not large, everything you need is there - fridge, hotplate, microwave, toaster, & coffee pot. There's a TV inside, but with our beautiful surroundings, we didn't turn it on once. We saw tons of butterflies and caterpillars. We'd love to come back and stay here again.

    Kendra2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We miss it already! Such an enjoyable stay right on the river. Caught some fish, relaxed by the fire, and watched the moon rise over the trees. Doug and Bonnie are super nice and wonderful hosts, and we can't wait to come back to Pop's Place!

    Jared2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place that is nestled just far enough into the woods. All kinds of natural beauty. First morning I walked outside I was met by 4 small whitetail having a drink. Only regret is that we didn't stay longer. We will be back.

    Adrian2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • My family had an amazing, relaxing time. Doug and Bonnie were attentive, gracious and friendly hosts. We loved fishing, sitting around the fire and relaxing on the porch just drinking coffee and listening to the sound of the river. Next time we'll stay for more than 1 day! Thank you!

    Peirce2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Pop's place was great! A friend and I stayed for one night before an all day Shenandoah hike. The cabin was perfect for our trip! Bonnie and Doug provided everything one could need, little explanation was needed between Airbnb hosts and guests. We had our privacy, the cabin was very cozy, and we enjoyed relaxing on our porch overlooking the water. We're only sorry we didn't take advantage of the canoes and fire pit during our stay, will have to come back again! Short 10 minute drive from food spots and far enough away from busy roads to enjoy nature surrounding the cabin.

  • Kismet Kottage is a enchanting place . Our gracious host provided us a lovely room in her home. We had access to the house which included her lovely garden, stone patio and mountain view pool.

Enjoy the historic charm of this beautiful room originally constructed in 1750. The room has a private entrance for guests and opens onto a cozy front porch, an excellent place to enjoy breakfast. We look forward to welcoming individuals and couples looking for a romantic getaway, a hideaway vacation, or a touch of farm adventure in their travels.
Our budding permiculture farm has a bursting veggie garden, a small dog and 15 chickens and ducks. It offers gorgeous views and is a five minute drive to the Barboursville and Horton wineries and is less than thirty minutes from Monticello and the sites of Charlottesville. We offer our guests eggs from our chickens and ducks and vegetables fresh from our garden.
Dragon Hill Farm is nestled in the rolling hills of Central Virginia's wine region, a short 15 minutes drive from Charlottesville airport. There are many historical sites in and around Charlottesville, with James Maddison's Montpelier just a 15 minute drive. There are great hikes just 20 minutes away in Shenedoah Valley and the Skyline Drive for a scenic drive.
  • Christine and Sean's house is beautiful and in a beautiful setting and they couldn't have been nicer and better hosts. They even provided fresh vegetables from their garden and fresh eggs (from their own chickens!) for us to cook breakfast. Really great stay and in a good location. Close to orange and charlottesville.

    Ethan2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful stay! The room was so picturesque and the host was very warm and inviting. The puppy was super cute too! I will definitely be staying here again while visiting the Charlottesville area. Can't wait to come back !

  • This was our last stop on the way home from a week long trip. It was perfect for our overnight to rest up for the last leg home. Beautiful room! Sean met us and got us settled. He kindly gave us a bit of a tour of their small farm and introduced the chickens and the ducks. Our accommodations were clean and comfortable. So quiet at night, sleep was easy. Sean offered fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning, but we were on a tight schedule to get back. Sure they would have been great and appreciated the offer. Communication with Mackensie from booking to arrival was great. Thanks so much!

  • We had a great time at Mackenzie’s place. Their place has so much love and charm. The room is clean, cozy and comfortable. Mackenzie was a great host. She was very friendly and accommodating but also gave us our space for privacy. Fresh duck and chicken eggs were an added bonus. Would definitely stay there again!

    erika2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous little farm! The room and bathroom where very clean and comfortable! Mack and Christine were very gracious and accommodating of us and our fur baby! Mack made us a beautiful breakfast to take on the road with us which was a surprise cherry on top of our short stay! Would love to stay again and see how the beautiful property grows... maybe in the winter so we can test out that gorgeous fireplace!

    Courtney 2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place was definitely one of the best air bnb experiences I've had so far! The location was perfect for us because we wanted to head to the Shenandoah Mountains, which were breathtaking, and we wanted to stay somewhere peaceful after a long drive. This place exceeded our expectations both with their hospitality and the farm. First, the room was very beautiful, spacious, and they even left a little note with flowers with all the details we needed for our stay. In the morning they made us pancakes, a beautiful fruit bowl, and some coffee. They even made sure to accommodate my brother, who's vegan, which was really great. We got to eat at a cute little patio table overlooking the farm on the porch. After breakfast we visited the chickens, ducks, vegetable garden and even got to hold some chicks and baby turkeys. After a long road trip this was just the calm and fun experience we needed. Mackenzie, Sean, and Christine were so kind and such welcoming hosts. Also their dog Fynn was adorable. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a scenic and peaceful getaway!

    Lucy2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little room with a great bed and a fireplace in the room, should you want it! Fresh eggs & veggies for the morning--all little courtesies extended. Close to everything--nice road for walks in the morning. Christine & Mac were very gracious and welcoming!

    meg2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfy and clean room in a nice farmhouse outside the city - we enjoyed our stay. The only cons I would note are that it's very dark getting there - the entire way from Charlottesville up to the driveway. There aren't signs to guide you and people were driving like idiots around us on the way in. Also, I thought the price was a tad high considering the location and the shared aspect - however, the bed is super comfy, hosts are very sweet and the dog is precious. Beautiful property as well!

Sun-filled room overlooks picturesque land with two gentle donkeys, several hens, and one overwhelmed rooster. Perfectly situated between downtown C'ville, Shenandoah National Park, and several wineries. Greet weekend mornings w/farm fresh eggs.
We are nestled in a very quiet cul-de-sac farmette. Please feel free to say hello to our docile, kid-friendly donkeys (Abraham and Angus) and our many hens. We have one rooster (Alfred) that typically greets each Sunrise with a moderate cock-a-doodle that is may only be faintly audible from your unit. We offer farm-fresh eggs each weekend morning (Saturdays and Sundays) with toast, jam, coffee/ tea. Everything is either organic or local/sustainable, except for the toast. We typically cook the eggs over-medium. Please let us know if you would like the eggs served differently. And please also let us know what time you would like breakfast served. You are equidistant (25-30 minutes) from the beautiful trails and streams of Shenandoah National Park or historical and charming downtown Charlottesville. There are several wineries, breweries, and distilleries also nearby. We will gladly offer recommendations based on your interests.
We are settled in a very quiet cul-de-sac with a few acres between our nearest neighbors.
  • Carrie and Rega are wonderful hosts. This was my first AirBnB experience and they made it very easy and comfortable. My partner and I enjoyed our special weekend in the Shenandoah valley.

    Leanna2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Rega's and want to come back soon! Definitely would recommend.

    Rachel2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • I traveled here with a few friends for a long weekend of hiking (about 40 minutes from hikes in Shenandoah) and evenings in Charlottesville (about 25 minutes away). The house was wonderful and our hosts were respectful of the private space and incredibly welcoming. Their house was lovely and we enjoyed waking up to watch the donkeys and chickens out the window. I would absolutely stay here again if I'm ever traveling back to the area!

    Stephanie2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a terrific stay. Rega and Carrie were warm and friendly and you simply couldn't ask for nicer hosts. They went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and as much a "home-away-from-home" as possible.

    Ray2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Rega opened up more than just his home to us, he opened up the most unique and memorable weekend we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The proximity to our national park destination made his listing preferable, but we received so much more than expected while visiting his accommodation. We made so many warm and wholesome memories during our short stay, from sitting around his fire pit and having his donkeys circle our chairs while we petted them, to waking up to the smell of farm fresh eggs being cooked on the stovetop. We made friends with his chickens and rooster and slept well in the large and comfortable room and bed that was prepared for our stay. Rega's quick responsiveness and attention to our needs made for a wonderful experience, and we hope to be back soon to visit.

    Michael2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Rega and Carrie were superlative hosts! They went beyond the cozy, inviting space and company (including beautiful country grounds and friendly donkeys) with generous and thoughtful suggestions for our stay. Even more, they put the "&b" in airb&b with delicious farm-fresh breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. We had a wonderful trip, including excellent meals nearby at Mi Casa and Jack's Shop Kitchen, and hope to return with more time to adventure. Theirs is an ideal place to stay for exploring Charlottesville, Shenandoah National Park, and everything in between.

    Peter2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • I had another great stay with Carrie and Rega. Everything is always clean and tidy, and they always go out of their way to make sure my stay is great,

    Christopher2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Rega and his family were the most incredible, friendly hosts. I stayed here with my girlfriend and it was perfect, we couldn't have asked for anything more. Rega gave us plenty of hike recommendations. In the few days we were there we were able to do many of the hikes he recommended, most of which were less than 45 minutes away. The place was clean, the farm fresh eggs on Saturday and Sunday morning were delicious, the donkeys were so friendly, and their son Forest is adorable. The room is very private with its own entrance and a curtain separating the stairs to the the main part of the house from the room. Rega was always responsive to any questions we had. We want to come back, and anyone considering AirBNBs in the area should stop looking and stay here.

  • Lynnie and Randy were fantastic hosts! Their home was very welcoming and we felt more than comfortable staying with them. Their place offers much more than most Air BnB's I've used, including a great view of a beautiful pond with a hammock and paddleboat to enjoy. I would recommend this spot to anyone.

    Jacob2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lynnie and Randy offer a wonderful room for guests to stay. Their house is beautiful and kept very clean. They were incredibly friendly, hospitable, and a pleasure to meet! They also added small but meaningful touches to make guests feel welcome. Would definitely recommend them to friends and family looking for a nice stay near Charlottesville to visit wineries and other nearby experiences.

We live in a quiet rural neighborhood. Our property is located back from the road, so traffic noise is minimal. You might see (and hear) horses and sheep on the property across the street, and occasionally hear coyotes in the distance. The local grocery store and convenience store, along with several restaurants are four miles away. We are also 15 minutes away from the small local airport, so you may hear the occasional plane flying overhead. There is a lovely park directly adjacent to the airport with a lake, a fishing dock, and walking trails.
  • My husband, mom and I had a wonderful stay at Shadow Wood. Maria was a great host and had everything set up before our arrival, including a welcome plaque, the gas heater and a bottle of wine for us to enjoy. The space is cosy and secluded but not too far from from the highway which was perfect for us. We went out to Shenandoah National Park during the day and enjoyed playing pool in the evenings. I would definitely recommend this place and go back for future visits in the area.

    ipchita2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Maria's home was the perfect place for our stay! The apartment was spacious and had everything you could need! Maria kindly left little treats and personalized touches for us which were so thoughtful! We used Maria's recommendations for places to eat and thoroughly enjoyed them! Overall, great experience and would recommend to future guests!

    Juliana2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Maria and her dogs were very friendly and accommodating, as they greeted us immediately upon arrival and gave us a tour of the property. The space was secluded and quiet, with relatively easy access to surrounding attractions and restaurants. Overall, aside from a couple of minor issues, our weekend stay was pleasant.

    Christopher2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic, worth one and very good hospitality.

    varad2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Maria was a wonderfully welcoming host, the place was a little tricky to find so she met us at the end of the drive to guide us in. Her dogs were the friendliest and happiest that I think we have ever met!! Maria was very helpful in suggesting somewhere to eat out in Charlottesville, a town which she reliably informed us has more restaurants per capita than anywhere in the US but NYC and LA!! The apartment was clean, tidy and with fresh linen; absolutely spot on for what we were after. There was coffee, bottled water, wine and some lovely little chocolates that had been left for us, so we felt immediately very welcome! The gazebo at the end of the garden was very pleasant to sit out on during the evening (though insect repellent is essential!) and we even heard coyotes calling in the distance, very exciting stuff! All in all we had a wonderful stay in a great value property that exactly met our needs of somewhere to stay overnight as a base to visit Shenandoah NP.

    Thomas2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a last minute event to attend in Charlottesville and booked Maria’s place the day before our arrival. She was very prompt in her responses, and very accommodating. Everything was exactly as described plus she kindly provided several beverages and snacks for our enjoyment. It is a comfortable and relaxing space, and we would definitely stay there again. Thank you Maria for your hospitality! :)

    Angie2017-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Maria welcomed us with a big smile and beautiful friendly dogs. The home is nestled in beautiful forest where nature is appreciated and cared for. The house is a private full floor of a spacious bedroom and living room with private access from the back of the house overlooking the tiki bar and forest. The bed was comfortable and Maria made great efforts to make us feel welcome with coffee machine, coffee, milk and chocolates. The area has magnificent routes with forests and cute homes. We would definitely come back again to stay here when visiting Charlottesville.

    Gal2017-09-24T00:00:00Z

  • Linda was an amazing host! There were treats in the fridge and on our pillows. The bathroom was very clean and nicely upgraded with wonderful towels. The kitchen was well-equipped for preparing meals. Firewood was provided for use in the chimenea on the patio. Although we never built a fire, we did enjoy swinging on the porch swing and visiting with our friends. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely plan to stay here again!

    Tracy2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Linda is a fantastic host. Even when she wasn't available her husband Joey was able to assist. The house is clean, bathroom has many nice towels, and toiletries. The house has a BBQ which we used the first night. Also the first night Linda made us a wonderful cheesecake. The check-in and check-out were very flexible. There were five of us including a baby. Plenty of space. I would recommend this location to my friends visiting the area. Enjoy future airbnb'ers.

  • Just got back home from our trip Linda was the perfect host! We asked a million questions and she was always helpful and patient. This was definitely a super great value no additional cost for guest like so many other locations nearby. We felt at home walking around the yard our kids loved the goats and chickens. Very cozy country style apartment with modern touch. This was our first trip to Charlottesville very glad we chose Linda over a typical hotel. Lots of unexpected personal touches from Linda like fresh baked cookies for our kids and a cake for our family. Can not thank Linda enough for a great stay!

    Florabhelle2017-11-12T00:00:00Z

  • The place is great, very cosy and quiet, very clean and spacious. Our host Linda was very helpful and she even had baken us a very tasty chocolate cake and cookies. We recommend Linda's place for a nice getaway. It is close to interesting highlights (Thomas Jefferson's house, Shanandoah national park etc.) and not far from DC and Virginia Beach.

  • Stunning! We were a family of 6 (4adults and 2 kids under 2). What a beautiful accommodation space amid gorgeous surroundings of large lawn and trees with goats and chickens for our neighbours! Linda was an incredible host and left delicious fresh baked goods for us as well as fresh eggs from her chickens and tomatoes from the vine. She gave us a brief tour and told us to help ourselves to any eggs in the coop which our 2yo son LOVED. Lovely patio area to read, drink and soak in the sounds of nature. We lit a fire in the chimnea and enjoyed seeing so many stars in the clear night sky. Lovely thoughtful host, beautifully comfortable, clean and nicely decorated rooms, great communication, stunning base to go wine tasting/walking/sightseeing in C'ville. Thank you Linda for a fantastic stay!

    Frances and Gino2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Linda's. Home was clean, cinnamon rolls and coffee was great. My 3 year old enjoyed the goat's and chickens. Plenty of wineries nearby. WiFi was a minor issue but I would definitely consider coming again. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Linda's place is perfect-- it's tucked away half an hour from Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. She is a wonderful host, presenting us with treats and fresh eggs, and a beautiful apartment space. The four of us were perfectly content to go on day trips in the area and retreat in the evening to use the grill, hang out, and relax in this apartment. I would recommend to anybody-- families, couples, friends!

  • Joan was an amazing host. The house was clean and was a great location for my family to stay at during my wedding weekend. It was big enough that we were able to do a Mother's Day cookout and my whole family that came from the west coast was able to hang out. The time was so precious to us as it had been more than 10+ years that we had seen each other. My dad had an electrical question for Joan and I contacted her to contact my dad since at the time I was at salon getting ready for the big day. She responded timely and my dad was able to get his electrical question answered. My family will definitely be interested in staying here again for future Virginia visits. The views and drive are breathe taking. Thank you Joan, Andrea

  • Our stay at Sister's View was amazing! We attended a wedding at Barn at Edgewood and was absolutely thrilled when we discovered that this home is located directly across the street! Sister's View is an older home that seems brand new. It has been completely remodeled and carefully modernized to maintain it's original charm. The homeowners did such a great job! The home is beyond well stocked with everything you can imagine and it is extremely clean. The view of nature, rolling hills and mountains are incredible. We relaxed and enjoyed coffee and cocktails while watching the beautiful sunrise and sunset on the front and back porch. The homeowners are so nice and friendly and they go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

  • This place was great, offering easy access to the Smoky Mountains. It was quiet and comfortable, exactly what we were looking for. Jeff and Deb are warm and always immediately responsive as we had any questions. The house is well equipped and they thoughtfully leave various drinks and snacks. It's a comfortable space to stay in with two floors and a lovely balcony that looks towards the mountains just off the bedroom. We'd stay there again if we return. Thanks!

    Amy2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Deb and Jeff had a wonderfully cozy place with beautiful nature views surrounding the house. We appreciated how friendly and welcoming they were, and they even let us say hello to their two dogs and cat that lived next door! So cute! Before and during check-in, Deb and Jeff were extremely communicative and proactive about making sure that we had all the directions we needed. Around the house they left snacks, coffee and tea, and tons of brochures to local attractions that we could explore. They also had all types of toiletries in case we needed them. The bed was very comfortable and large, and even though the weekend we traveled was very cold, the heat in the house worked well so it was cozy and warm. The house was about a 25-min drive to downtown Charlottesville so the location was great. Highly recommend!!

    Sunny2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend this Air BnB to anyone! Jeff and Deb are wonderful hosts! They thought of so many small details and amenities. We had a wonderful relaxing time. THANK YOU both! You could not find better hosts, and the apartment is wonderful! Very quiet, fully equipped, and only about 20 mins to Charlottesville. Don't miss the beautiful sunrises and the wonderful starry nights! Wish we were still there ...

  • Little bit of country was a beautiful place to stay!

    Luisa2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a beautiful stay, and would highly recommend it to anyone!!! My husband and I were seeking a peaceful getaway in the mountains over the weekend, and this suite exceeded our expectations. Deb and Jeff were delightful and made us feel welcome instantly. This spot was very spacious, beautifully furnished and even more darling than we'd imagined. We enjoyed coffee, a view of the mountains and listening to birds chirp in the morning - truly serene. If you have the chance to stay here, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did! :)

  • Deb and Jeff are great, and so is the house. We had a nice stay and had everything we needed

Thank you Jeff & Deb for making mine & my husbands first night of marriage after our elopement so special. We absolutely look forward to coming back to visit.

  • This was a great romantic retreat to get away from it all. My husband and I spent a weekend here and it was just what we needed..peace and quiet in an adorable space. Julie had the space ready with everything we could need. The furnishings and decor were great and lounging on the back deck drinking our coffee was the perfect way to spend our mornings. The only downside would be the proximity to restaurants...they were a bit further than planned. However for us it ended up being a plus as it allowed us to make meals in the kitchen, just the two of us. I'd def recommend!

    Tiffani2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • The views of the farm are beautiful. Julie was a great host, very friendly and responsive. The rooms are enormous, you could stay as long as you want and not feel cramped. Julie also did a great job with anticipating what you might want, and with decorating the place. The kitchen is fully stocked, she even gave us some snacks and champagne to celebrate our anniversary! The pictures and description are perfectly accurate, the building itself is also very new.

    David2015-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for a weekend get away from the city! Short drive from DC and the property and view is gorgeous. They have a catch and release fishing pond we had so much fun fishing in. Only quick drive to swift run gap entrance at the Shenandoah park which is where we spent our days. Apartment is so beautiful and even nicer than the pics!

    Ella2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend in Riverside. It is such a lovely and beautiful ranch. We would love to visit it again.

    Qing2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredibly scenic, peaceful, picture perfect getaway. My boyfriend and I came to Virginia to hike the Shenandoah trails and we lucked out with Julie's barn house apartment. Ever see the movie the notebook? That kind of romantic theme to this air bnb! I will DEFINITELY be back next Shenandoah trip :)

    Marika2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Julie was very welcoming and friendly, she happily showed us around the property and the apartment and made herself available for any issues we may have had. The apartment was exactly as described and had all the amenities of home and even a hotel! (pots, pans, shampoo, juice, home made muffins, etc). We really appreciated and enjoyed those :). The sunset/rise was beautiful from the outdoor porch. We would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from the city.

    Sarah2016-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • A little hidden gem in the Shenandoah. Perfect for a relaxing getaway.

    John2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing weekend! We were greeted by Julie and she guided us through her emaculate farmhouse apartments. The view was fantastic, and the home met all of our needs. We enjoyed the fire place, the back deck, the movies and puzzles the house provided. Not to mention the delicious muffins Julie shared with us from a local friend. This is the perfect retreat spot from the city to recharge and unwind. We cherished our time here together and appreciate Julie and Scott opening there farm up to us and others to enjoy. We will definitely return!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Kimberly'a property! We planned a week long vacation to the area to explore the wineries, nature trails, and historic sites, and this was the perfect location for what we were looking for. Just a short drive from Charlottesville, we enjoyed coming back to the farm after a day out as it was very relaxing, quiet, and serene. Our pup especially enjoyed morning walks down the drive and through the fields. Kimberly was a great host and was very responsive to our inquiries. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to the area!

    Stephanie2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very large space and has everything you need for a quiet getaway with plenty of privacy. Nearby grocery/convenience stores make it easy to cook if you'd like to take advantage of the kitchen. Didn't get a chance to meet Kimberly, but she was very responsive with messaging and answered any questions we had :)

    Kelly2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kimberly's apartment was great! It was quiet and cozy, and had everything we needed! As a bonus, the farm had two of the cutest black cats running around. Deer were always outside of the window as well! Kimberly was super responsive and ensured we had everything we needed. I'll definitely be back for another stay!

  • My wife and I visited for our baby moon. We never turned on the tv, relaxed after a long hike and used the kitchen to cook all of our meals. This was the first time we have used Airbnb or a similar service and had a wonderful experience. This is a beautiful location and the drive to and from Richmond was beautiful.

    Britt2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting, accommodations exactly as described, charming and cozy getaway!

    Brigid2016-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice finished barn. The property was beautiful and peaceful. Will definitely come back. Thank you!

    Erik2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great experience. Nice and private, and just perfect for the weekend. I loved that there was a full kitchen and coffee maker to use as we needed. It was a bit further out in the country than expected, but that adds to the charm; however got our car super dirty (oh well).

    Janelle2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kimberly's barn apartment made for a wonderful weekend get-away with my wife. The property is secluded and absolutely beautiful. My dogs very much enjoyed playing in the field right next to the house. Kimberly was also very responsive to my questions. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a private weekend in a gorgeous area.

This house is ideal for families/large groups! Tucked away in the heart of Virginia’s wine country, Guildford Farm will welcome you with cozy rooms, beautiful views, and peaceful relaxation. It is conveniently located just 15-30 minutes from local wineries, 20 miles from the University of Virginia, and 10 miles from the Shenandoah National Park.
This is still used as our private residence, so please treat it kindly. We ask that you treat our home with as much respect as you would treat your own. If an accident does occur, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible so we can get it taken care of. Built in the 1790’s, Guildford Farm was the original home of the Early family, the namesake of Earlysville, VA. In 2003, the nearly 8,000 square foot country home was completely restored. The home contains 7 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 10 foot ceilings, and a stunning 13 original fireplaces (not suitable for use). During the restoration, the original architecture of the home was meticulously preserved. The inside of the home offers exquisite woodwork, hand-carved mantels and wide heart pine floors. The home is located in the middle of a 100-acre picturesque estate overlooking a 2-acre pond to the East and the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains to the West.
  • Scenic house with great views, beautiful area to stay.

  • The house and grounds were gorgeous, the host was very quick to respond and every bed was comfortable. I rented this place for ten adults since we had a wedding in the area, and there was plenty of personal space for everyone. Wonderful stay, and would totally recommend it to any large group.

  • Guildford Farms was the perfect fall getaway weekend for my friends. The house was very spacious (huge bedrooms) and Katie was a lovely host. Everything was fully stocked (Keruigs, extra paper towels & toilet paper, spices, etc.). The property was gorgeous, 100 acres with a pond. 11/10 recommend!

    Elizabeth2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for the wonderful stay!  We thoroughly enjoyed spending the weekend in the house! The beds were the best we've had in any AirBnb, and that was very appreciated. The house and land are absolutely gorgeous, and I highly recommend it to groups coming to the area! The hot tub was great after a long day of wineries. We loved learning the history of the house via the binder in the piano room. Great space for 10 adults in the beds, and air mattresses and couches aplenty if you are coming with a larger group. Thanks for an amazing weekend!!!

  • Stayed here after day trip to Montpelier. Everything was lovely. Room is as cute as a treehouse and feels both private and safe. Shared bathroom is 90 yards away in main building - clean and pleasant with wood floors and cheerful blue tile. Retreat grounds have a great view of the Blue Ridge and, at night, you can see the arms of the Milky Way. Everyone was very friendly. I was welcomed to join activities of other groups on retreat but didn't feel pressured to do so. Meals were available for extra cost - I'd already decided on dinner at a barbecue joint but paid for breakfast which was delicious. Peaceful stay, would be good for a personal retreat as well.

  • I loved staying at Sevenoaks. It was extremely relaxing, beautiful, and well-kept. They offered food although I brought my own, have a lovely bookstore with authentic spiritual related books and other very interesting items for purchase. The room was extremely clean, Paul was very accommodating and helpful with additional resources and information about Sevenoaks. I will 100% be returning, very glad I was able to stay at such a refreshing location.

A charming 1907 farmhouse in the country, this working farm is home to dogs, cats, chickens, (including roosters), and goats. Your suite is thoughtfully appointed, featuring a super comfy bed, books for reading, soft blankets for snuggling in, and a lovely place to lay your head for your stay. The bathroom is quaint and clean, right down to the homemade goat soap and shower gel! We can recommend historic places, restaurants and a host of excellent wineries that are mere minutes from the house.
If you'd like to meet the goats and chickens, let us know, as they are friendly and love to accept snacks and petting!
Our property is in a rural portion of Orange County, and is surrounded with pastoral views and farm-style scenery. We're located in a "village", and are within a stone's throw to many of the best wineries in the region.
  • There is really only one word to describe the experience of staying at the Hop and Hen Farm: magical! It really feels like a very private refuge from the hustle and bustle of Charlottesville, yet quite close to an array of relaxing activities. Deb made me feel right at home and she had coffee ready at my requested time and it was good coffee, too. What more can an overnight guest ask for? Comfy bed, lovely room and bathroom, and friendly hospitality. I hope to stay there again, soon!

  • Great place to stay! Central to local attractions and really close to Barboursville vineyards. The home is quiet and inviting, the host is responsive and hospitable, and the goats are so sweet and fun! Would stay again.

  • Lovely room... Privacy is respected, and the family was very quiet and respectful while we were there. We were only there overnight on our way south to North Carolina, but I would definitely spend some more time here if I'm ever in the neighborhood again!

    Tony2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was simply wonderful! The house is so quaint with little touches that made it that much better! Deb was so friendly and helpful...from coffee and homemade bread in the morning to the helpful suggestions of places to go and to eat, these just added to our experience. The communication was thorough and she was quick to respond to our questions. The house is very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend this gem of a place to stay. If we are ever back in the area we will DEFINITLEY stay here again!!

  • Deb'place is a great find! Peaceful and quiet yet close enough to many area attractions. This airbnb has charming furnishings and personal touches all of which make your stay very comfortable. The bedroom and bathroom are in an area of the house that provides guests with privacy and it's all very clean.

    Stephanie2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed at Airbnb's all over the world and this one is definitely in my top 3! Deb and Stephen are so kind and accommodating. They made us french press coffee and a pumpkin loaf in the morning and gave us half a dozen eggs to take home from their farm. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom is spacious and clean, and the house is charming. We had so much fun meeting their cats, dog, chickens, and goats. You'll probably hear the roosters crowing in the morning, but it just adds to the charm. I can't say enough nice things about our short stay here.

    Megan2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend staying with Deb and Stephen. They made us feel so welcome. Extremely hospitable. Beautiful location. Fantastic room. Not to mention, they make wonderful coffee! Their dog, Noah, was so gentle and sweet to our dog Nora. We’re so grateful!

  • Virginia's place is secluded and beautiful. We arrived to see deer eating in the back yard, horses on the side. The space was well-decorated and clean. We enjoyed the large fireplaces and modern amenities. The best part was the seclusion and wildlife we experienced, yet we were only 10 minutes from the closest Super Walmart. New to AirBnb, Fall 2017! Welcome to Rapidan Valley Farm! This historic farm house sits on a plateau above the Rapidan and Middle River Valleys, surrounded by crop land and fields of Angus cattle, two miles from the nearest paved road. Truly panoramic views extend in every direction, and except for the farm manager's home nearby, there is not another home in sight. A peaceful, private, perfect place to get away to simplicity, and a perfect home base to explore all that Central Va has to offer.
We call it "The Thanksgiving House", as it has held many a joyous family gathering over the years for us. Now we want to share it with you. The home was rebuilt in 1937, and gently renovated over the last several years. Inside, the new kitchen appliances and beautiful, simple furnishings including locally made cherry dining room table and corner hutch add to the comfort of the old-style radiator heaters, hardwood floors, giant front porch or private master balcony with stunning mountain views. The original home on this site dates back to the 1850's at least, as evidenced by the servant's quarters outbuildings. Have a look inside them and truly step back in time. Enjoy the horseshoe pits, the charcoal grill, take a walk among the cattle or hike on down past the crop fields and to the river. Explore the 900+ acre farm, or head to the mountains, as you are minutes away from The Shenandoah Park, several wineries, and all the area has to offer.
  • What's not to love about The Thanksgiving House?! It is perfectly "understated" . . . thoughtfully decorated and needed items provided, but not cluttered or busy. Perfect spot for slowing down and appreciating your loved ones and nature. Comfortable beds, towels, etc. Great communication before and after our stay. Pet friendly which was a big bonus for us. Cinnamon rolls, half dozen eggs and jug of orange juice were waiting for us when we arrived. This is a very special place!

    Teresa2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very cozy, quiet, spacious, and comfortable. The scenery is beautiful, and Todd and Katie were easily reachable for any questions or concerns. The cell signal was strong at the house (at least for us on Verizon), so it was useable to help plan anything you may want to research. The farm was picturesque to wake up to. It was a great stay, and I would definitely recommend it.

    Derek2017-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Whether you're looking for a relaxing quiet retreat or an outdoor adventure, you'll find it at The Thanksgiving House. We were greeted with farm fresh eggs, coffee, and donuts and a million dollar view. Mornings brought friendly cows at the fence and coffee on the front porch. We biked the perimeter of the property meandering amongst docile cows and alongside winding rivers stopping for a swim and drink for our furry friend. The views are breathtaking and abundant . Michelle and farmer Dave were super friendly and respectful of our privacy. They were quick to give activity and dining advice and share a few stories of farm life. Priceless Vacation ! Todd and Katie, thank you so much for sharing this treasure with us! Not to miss stops... - Skyline Drive. We hiked Hawksbill Loop and were treated to a stunning mountain vista. - Jacks Shop Kitchen in Ruckersville for lunch (not open for dinner). Great fresh salads and sandwiches. - Bald Top Brewery... great venue for music, food trucks, good beer and a lot of space for kids and doggies to run around. Spice sea food truck serves up some great crab cakes and po' boy sandwiches . If they would happen to be there. - Public Fish and Oyster - if you make it into Charlottesville. Fresh Oysters and mussels in a variety of yummy sauces. Great bloody marys and awesome outdoor space. Plus a wonderful, welcoming staff. Can't wait to come back!

    Christina2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was absolutely perfect for our family. We have three kids (10/8/3) and they loved being on the farm. It provided a wonderful respite for us away from the hub-bub of our normal life, and yet it was close enough to stuff in the area that we were able to spend time both on the farm relaxing and going out-and-about as we pleased. The girls loved wandering around the farm exploring the area - especially hearing the cows and seeing them up close and personal. Additionally, we appreciate going to places that do not have Internet for the guests - it makes it that much easier for us to unplug and just focus on spending time as a family - thanks for that! One day we drove up to Shenandoah NP to do some hiking, and it was only about a 30 minute drive to get to the park entrance. Another day we drove about an hour to go down to Charlottesville to visit Monticello (had to get that American History lesson in!) and also go pick apples at an orchard. We also enjoyed just sitting out on the porch and the upstairs balcony talking and chatting, sitting around the BEAUTIFUL farm table playing games, and star gazing (it's much darker there than where we live!). Todd was a responsive host and everything at the farm was as described or better. Thank you, thank you, thank. We're already planning our next trip and trying to figure out dates so we can get them reserved!

    Thomas2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had at the Thanksgiving House. The moment you pull onto the property you realize how special of a place this is. The home is beautiful and exceptionally maintained offering views of the surrounding farm from every angle. We immediately felt at home here and we spent the first few minutes admiring the beauty and appreciating the history this home has to offer. This was perfect for our family of four (with 2 children under 3). The surrounding farm is equally as magnificent as the home and we spent quite a bit of our time wandering around the sprawling property in amazement that we had it all to ourselves. Whether it was taking in the beautiful views of the landscape or walking amongst the cattle, our family enjoyed each moment. The location is ideal because it offers the peace and quiet we wanted, while being convenient enough to explore the places we wanted to. This property is truly one of a kind and we cannot wait to come back!

  • The landscape is amazing and the home is perfect for a country getaway. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet and our pups enjoyed getting to play and run around in the yard.

  • We highly recommend Todd and Katie's place. Our experience was great. The house is situated with a view of hundreds of acres of rolling hills and farmland that was so peaceful and quiet. A fantastic respite from the city. The open layout of the house is spacious and felt warm and homey. We'll be back, because in the end, we didn't even want to leave.

  • It was an excellent choice I made to stay at Whitney's house for the first month after I moved to Charlottesville! Such a comfortable stay. Whitney's house is clean, and the private bedroom I stayed in is spacious. Whitney was very communicative and did everything she could to help me feel at home. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet as well. I would recommend Whitney's space to anyone who is seeking a nice comfortable place to stay in Charlottesville!

  • Place was great, spacious and quiet. Stay for one night as got held up in the airport due to the storm. Whitney was kind in accommodating me in a short notice.

  • Comfortable room with bath on bottom floor of townhouse. As a result of its location on the bottom floor, some might consider it chilly, though it didn't bother me too much. It was a good place to stay and it saved me a bunch of money.

  • Accurate description. Huge room, clean and pleasant to be in. Clean bathroom. Did not use or see kitchen. Comfy bed of medium firmness. (I slept alone). Whitney was super friendly and helpful.

  • Whitney was an excellent host - easy, prompt communication, easy access to the suite. Her place is nice, right near the airport and the UVa research park north of town. The space is roomy with a private, full bath. There is no hanging space (not an issue for a quick overnight stay, as in my case).

  • The Space is just as described comfortable, roomy, and private thanks Whitney

  • Whitney and her roommates are very kind and accommodating! The room is very spacious, and while the heater might be a bit noisy, the room is rather quiet. Overall, I definitely recommend Whitney's place.
