  • Sue and Hugo were wonderful hosts! and the apartment is outstanding. They have thought of everything to make their guests welcome and comfortable. We were thrilled with the apartment; the rooms are spacious, the beds are warm and very comfortable, the location is superb. We were there at the end of May,which can be chilly, and the heated mattress covers, heated towel racks, and heated bathroom floors were much appreciated! They provided a delicious breakfast of homemade muesli, yogurt, marmalade, bread, butter, coffee, tea, milk, etc... We wish we could have stayed longer. The view and surrounding area are gorgeous. It is perfectly located for exploring the Top of the South. Our stay with Sue and Hugo was a highlight of our travels!

  • Sue and Hugo's place is a beautiful oasis. From the moment we arrived Sue greeted us with a warm welcome and a picturesque back drop. Sue showed us around the apartment. Wow. What a beautiful find. Large seating area where you can sit back and watch the rolling hills and mountains. No need for the television. The view spoke for itself. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. Sue turned the heating floor on in the large bathroom which made the cool mornings a delight. Sue was extremely hospitable. Homemade muesli and two different condiments. Sue spent time giving us local tips on where to eat. Sue your recommendations for Apple Shed was on the money. We discovered Mapua thanks to you and wished we had organised a few more nights stay. We were sorry we missed you in the morning to thank you for everything. You really have a wonderful place which I know we will visit again, this time for longer. Thank you for everything. Pictures just don't describe the beauty of this location. Regards Mel and Karina

  • Excellent location and lovely accommodation. Sue and Hugo were so welcoming! They gave us great local suggestions.and we really enjoyed our time in the area. Thank you Sue and Hugo!

  • A pity that we had only one night to spend in this gorgeous and cozy place. Sue and Hugo were very nice hosts, thanks so much for the warm welcome! The view in the morning was splendid, and this was one of our best stays in NZ. The rain shower was great too :) Highly recommended!

    Tiffany2013-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Hugo's guest house is beautiful! The surrounding area is very peaceful and a great place to relax with so much green space around. Just sitting in the living room and looking out the picture window is a treat in itself! We stayed here for a couple of nights while taking a day trip to Abel Tasman, and it's a pretty convenient location, probably about 30-40 mins from Maharau and Kaiteriteri, and about 10-15 mins to the wharf area of Mapua for restaurants. The rain shower is heavenly and definitely a nice perk. There was also a nice neighbor horse that let us pet it one evening! We didn't have any issues connecting to the WiFi as some early reviews mentioned. I really want to go back to New Zealand and if we are in the Nelson area, we will definitely look for availability at the guest house here first!

    Aaron2013-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • This little apartment was amazing! There was nothing else we could have asked for. If you want to stay in and cook, it's definitely possible even in this tiny kitchen. The view is lovely, and the apartment very cozy. The shower is AMAZING!!! We felt like we were getting royal treatment after staying at places with teensy tiny bathrooms. Nothing bad can be said about Sue and Hugo! They greeted us with such. Warm welcome and were so helpful with suggestions about where to visit and eat, but still gave us loads of privacy. Sue did our laundry!!! Can you believe it!? We really couldn't have asked for a better stay, and are so grateful to them.

    Kelsey2015-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful retreat! The guest house was even better than described. Sue & Hugo were warm and easy to talk to, made us feel very welcomed and at home. They provided good eatery recommendations in a nearby town. The place was fantastic, it was a shamed that we only stayed one night. Highly recommend! Thank you so much for a lovely stay :)

    Rosetta2015-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Hugo are wonderfully welcoming and hospitable. The modern cottage made an excellent base to explore Nelson and the Abel Tasman region with an amazing view over the estuary. It's great that the cottage is set alone from the main house, so you can come and go and not disturb too much. We weren't around a lot but we had everything we needed when we were including a delicious home made breakfast and basic essentials (those things you don't really want to have to buy when you're only away for a few days!). We were in Nelson to attend a wedding, and Hugo very kindly took us to the venue too! They just went above and beyond. We will definitely be recommending to others and be back again if we're down that way in the future. Thanks!

  • We absolutely loved our stay with Adrianna. The flat is brand new, super clean and nicely decorated. Adrianna gave us a warm welcome, showed us around the flat, provided lovely snacks and breakfast food, and even offered us fresh veggies from her lovely garden. The kitchen is very nice to cook in-with clean and new dishes, pots and cutlery. She also provided some staples for cooking. We had very nice conversations with her and appreciated her suggestions on what to see and do in the area and also which group to use for our tour of Abel Tasman - which was great! Her restaurant suggestion was a hit as well. Most importantly, Adrianna rose above and beyond, when she offered to let us use the washer and dryer after we got caught in the rain! Thank you so much Adrianna! Just wish we could have stayed longer!!! If you are staying in the area, do yourself a favor and stay at Adrianna's - you'll have a five star stay!

Four acres of tranquility enables you to enjoy a small farm experience with native birds, bush & ponds. A beautiful wood fired hot tub overlooking the bay is available for guests to enjoy (weather permitting). If you like animals, this is perfect for you - alpacas, ducks, chickens and of course Ragdoll cats (and kittens during the season). Come share my little piece of paradise. There are other accommodation options on the property, search Tumbleweed Downs.
This comfortable farmhouse style home in a park like setting with plenty of areas to relax inside and out, has a wrap around veranda giving many nooks to sit in or out of the sun. It's about enjoying it for what it is - a natural environment with the pleasures that animals bring. My aim is to promote a warm, friendly, stress free environment that all will feel at home in. There could be a bit of fluff or a leaf on the carpet - it is a farmlet after all. The home has two guest rooms available - this room with one queen bed and adjoining bathroom shared with the other guest room (if occupied). Also available on the property, a studio unit (sleeps 4) and a camper (sleeps 2). Home cooked farm style dinner and/or breakfast available by prior arrangement. Dinner (main and desert) $25 per person, cooked breakfast (bacon, fresh free range eggs and toast) $15, continental (cereal and toast) $10.
Mapua is five minutes drive away and has range of shops, galleries, restaurants, bars and cafés. The village is situated by the beautiful Waimea Estuary, just a short drive from Nelson, Richmond and Motueka. The local supermarket is open til 7 each evening.
  • We spent an amazing Time at Dawn's place! Its a Very peaceful and quiet house at the top of the Hill with a wonderful view. We had a warm welcome by Dawn and her 3 beautiful cats. The room was really clean , the bed comfy and the bathroom with all the facilities. The cherry on top: the hot bath outside in the garden that Dawn kept hot and warm for us each evening! A little paradise , a peaceful retreat! Go!

We can recommend staying at Dawn's to everyone who wants to have a relaxed and brilliant time at Mapua.

  • A great base for a large team. We used it for 4 days of mountain biking. Amazing views from breakfast table over the bay

    Gerard2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Plenty of space, gorgeous views, BBQ made for easy and delicious meals. The funky fun decor and stylings were super cool. No wifi or tv completes perfect setting for 'unplugged' play and rejuvenation. The trampoline out back on the hill full of bunnies provided hours of fun for me and my 8 year old pal.

    Clarke2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • A great view and loved the lounge upstairs, felt like luxury retro lounge. Kitchen basic and from the fifties but okay. Loved watching the rabbits playing on the lawn in the evening. Nice to eat breakfast on the balcony. Beds comfortable and nice linen. Only one shower and that is downstairs. Great place for a family reunion. Close to Ruby Bay and Mapua which have lovely cafes and art galleries. Check out Jesters for their famous breakfasts.

  • Massive home in art deco style built in 1950. Of you like vintage decor in a secluded setting only 5 minutes walk from the beach then you will enjoy this home.

    Karen2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very roomy house and garden - great for family groups. Spectacular views across the bay. Kitchen and bathrooms are basic but fit for purpose. We were blessed with great weather so no issues with heating but may be chilly out of Summer season? Well located for touring the area - Abel Tasman, Moutere Highway, Rabbit Island etc.

    Anthony2017-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! We were a group of 9 and stayed here for 2 nights, and absolutely loved it. The house is huge - older, but very charming. We had more than enough room for everyone, and without feeling cramped. The views are spectacular from the house, and although it's in a residential area, there is a small area with cafes and bars a short 5 minute drive away. While here, we drove up to Abel Tasman for a day of kayaking, and had everything in the kitchen we needed to cook breakfasts and dinners for the group to save on some money eating out. The only issue we had was that the washing machine and dryer were a bit slow, so for 9 of us to try to do laundry was challenging. But, there were far more good things and laundry is a minor detail so I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice, quiet place to stay on the north coast of the south island!

    Rachel2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a characterful and spacious home in a great location as others have commented. However the external areas are run down and the standard of finish in kitchen area and general lack of cleaning were not to our expected standard for an Air BnB so you will need to weigh up if these matter to you before booking.

    paul2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • This house is in the most beautiful location. The vistas are incredible and it's very spacious. Seven adults had more than enough room. The home is older and shows its wear, but it's still a gorgeous property. However, the kitchen really needed a good cleaning. Previous guests hadn't done an adequate job of washing the dishes (no dishwasher), so we had to prewash everything. If it hadn't been for the dirty kitchen, we would have been thrilled with the house.

  • I have never slept closer to the sea than this, even on camping tours. Cosy cabin in a spectacular spot, and with friendly and helpful hosts. Actually, I am going back to Tina and Johns place again today!

  • The little house right next to the beach and sea is really lovely and has everything you need. The view is stunning and it is perfectly located to go to the Abel Tasman National Park.

  • We are all lucky that Tina and John share their slice of paradise. They are great hosts, so welcoming and accommodating. Most relaxing holiday we've had, with the best view.

    Lesley2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • John and Tina were exceptional hosts. The views out of this beachside unit were phenomenal. Stars, waves, birds... so pleasant. They let us use their mountain bikes for a nice 3 hour ride on the Great Taste Trail, and using their kayak was a perfect way to start out the day. The unit had every need covered - comfy bed, hot water, privacy, and did I mention the views?! Amazing. What a perfect place for our stay in Mapua. Good food spots just down the road. We particularly enjoyed the Apple Shed for dinner. In general, we loved our stay and would 100% recommend John and Tina and their beautiful beachside spot!

    Bryan2017-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing retreat right on the water's edge. We enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of waves, eating breakfast outside in the sunshine and then borrowing the kayak for a paddle to the local village. Tina and John made us very welcome and gave us great ideas about where to head to after our stay.

    Jane2016-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Tina and John's place was very comfortable and they had a lot of information for visitors compiled in a binder in the room. The view was excellent and when we arrived they were very friendly and let us take out their kayak and bikes. Ruby Bay is very beautiful and peaceful. It made for an excellent last night's stay in New Zealand. We only wish we had been able to stay longer.

    Hillary2014-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cool place to stay listening to the waves at night. And really close to everything we wanted to do. Tina and John were really helpful with local information. We would love to come back. Too short a stay.

  • A stunning location, easy walk or cycle to shops and Mapua Village cafes. So scenic, Marlene's place is private and snug and I would love to return

    carey2016-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Ruby Bay Cottage while visiting friends in neighbouring Mapua. The cottage was perfect for our needs - a little oasis on the waterfront, secluded and private. It felt a bit like going back to holidays of my childhood (perhaps the influence of the retro furniture and quirky styling!) With 2 full bedrooms separate from the kitchen & living space, it is like having a compact little house. Check in and out could not have been easier. Marlene welcomed us when we arrived and was available if we needed anything but otherwise left us to ourselves. Cottage has access directly onto the beach (pebbles, not sand). There are bikes you can borrow (handy for getting to Mapua Wharf, which is a reasonable walk from Ruby Bay). If you don't want to go that far, there is takeaway a couple of doors down.

    Kate2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous clean and cosy cottage. The beds were very comfortable and the location right on the beach where you could hear the waves at night was wonderful. The hosts even built us a bonfire on the beach which was an absolute delight. Even though the cottage is attached to the main house you have absolute privacy. A little rural idyll.

    Christine2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay in this very charming little cottage in a fantastic spot by the water. Clean and comfortable with a personal touch that made us feel instantly at home.

  • Quiet private accommodation with beach access. Very clean and had all amenities we needed. This is a great location in the wine country and close to Nelson airport

    Cathy2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We were right on the beach. During our one free day I mountain biked in Nelson and the girls strolled on the beach. We had plenty of room and the beds were quite comfy. I can't really think of anything that Marlene could have done to improve our stay. She provided fresh vegetables from her garden and her husband caught and shared fresh fish.

They have all your breakfast and snack needs in the room and the accommodations are very comfortable. Oh and then there is THE VIEW! Only one thing to beware, you'll never want to leave. Thank you again for such a lovely stay!

  • Five star accommodation, service and overall quality! Cant recommend this place enough! A must stay in te region with everything you wish for and more. The house has been previously accommodated as B&B, but the great owners only recently switched to Airb&b. They are amazingly friendly, warm, caring and they really spoiled us with amazing food, service, tips and even presents:). Our best hosts ever after staying through airbnb at so many different places. Central to Tasman National Park, Tasting trails, surrounding villages and Marlborough. The house has a great fireplace and amazing sun patio. Room has a lot of privicy and lovely sunny private terrace. Stay here or you will miss out!!!

  • We had a really lovely stay with Jenny and Brian. We were met by Brian who was really welcoming and kind. The room is amazing with lots of beautiful details and the bed was warm and cosy. The ensuite is a nice touch. Everything was spotless. We also had access to a beautiful little sun room which I took full advantage of, it was a great spot to relax and enjoy the sunset whilst working on my writing project. The house is in a great area. Just a minute from small supermarket and pub. I wish we could've stayed another couple of nights. I thoroughly recommend this listing if you're looking in this area. Thanks Jenny and Brian!

  • Such a lovely room! I loved that it was walking distance to Mapua Wharf with all the shops and eateries there. Only stayed for one night so not having use of the kitchen was fine with me. Great value considering the location, private bathroom, and your own space to relax and enjoy the sun in the conservatory. Jenny and Brian are nice and welcoming. I'd love to stay here again!

  • Clare's house is just stunning and in a beautiful scenic location. Its very stylish, extremely clean and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Our host was a great communicator and made us both feel very much at home. Clare's very comprehensive guide gave us some fantastic information about the area which has both great places to eat and drink as well as shopping etc and the location is ideal for some of the most beautiful national parks. I really can't say enough about the place don't hesitate to book !!!

    Wendy2017-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • First Airbnb experience and what an amazing experience it was! Clare and Pete's house is simply incredible. It was huge and spotlessly clean. We were straight in the pool and hot tub as soon as we arrived. Lovely BBQ area we utilised and fully equipped kitchen with everything from 2 coffee makers and 4 dishwashers! Such a super stay and super hosts!

    Jenny2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had an outstanding stay at Clare's place. The house is spacious and very clean. Clare really goes the extra mile to host you and make you feel home. Highly tecommended

    Laurent2017-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Clare the host, was wonderful in the communication and provided a lot of guidance in advance. Check-in was smoothless and she explained all important aspects. Nice twist: all cupboards are labelled so that you quickly find what you need (very important in the heat of cooking). She even left some goodies in the kitchen for those who didn´t make it to the supermarket. Butter and eggs, milk and jam, serials, even wine etc. The mansion itself is very quietly situated and provides ample room also for larger groups, very nice kitchen area and outdoor bbq area. We didn´t try the pool but it is big enough for doing laps. The house booklet is very informative on the house itself, but also giving a lot of recommendations for what to do and see and where to shop and eat in the region. Very nice experience!

    Stephan2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Claire's home was beautiful and she went above and beyond in making sure we were comfortable and assisting with planning excursions. She even welcomed us with food staples and wine! Thank you!

    Nicole2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We organised a corporate retreat - it was superb. Plenty of breakout areas and in such a convivial atmosphere were able to generate lots of good ideas,

    Jennifer2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great property and pool for the summer sun - Clare and Pete were great hosts and we lacked for nothing. Restaurants and bars in Mapua only 5 minutes away but it's a beautiful rural location.

    Mark2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Communication from the beginning was great, including directions to get us to the property. We met Clare at property at the specified time (we were a little late due to being unable to collect our hire car). She showed us around and had left some grocery's for us including wine and champagne which is always a great touch. The property was outstanding in every way possible, very clean and tidy and everything you would want in your own home. Nothing was to much trouble for Clare, she even bought some extra groceries back for us as we were initially unable to get to the shop due to not having a car a this point. Even though some of the rooms were closed off, the property still felt large enough to not notice this. The views from both the front and back of the property were amazing, as were the sunsets from the hot tub on an evening. Even the location was a 5 minute drive to the main highway, just far enough away to not hear any traffic noise, but close enough for easy transport links. We have stayed in some fairly amazing properties over the years, but this one definitely tops the list. Wether you are a small family group like us or a large adult group, you will not be disappointed with Blackwood Ridge, it has something for everyone.

It's warm, cozy, and just a lovely place to relax and watch the tides change. Our daughter loved watching the sheep and playing the games provided both in and outside. Easy day trip to Abel Tasman as well. Wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you Lesley and Darryl for being such lovely hosts!

After a brief tour of the home she left us to be. Hosts were very gracious and amenities were as described and exceeded our expectations. host and hostess are artists in much of their private art collection is displayed and is beautiful.

  • Cherian does not possess the right vocabulary to describe the experience with Judy! It was nothing short of magical, warm and AMAZING! So much so that we decided to stay an extra night and just be there because it was an experience and sight in itself living with her. She is a gem, a lovely and generous soul. Her house, so tastefully done, her garden so elaborate and diverse, her hospitality ..... cant describe... She gave us all the information we needed to visit al spots in the area and beyond. But that was secondary for us ! We have found a new friend in her and I will be visiting again. This is for sure. I hope all the guests visiting her place enjoy the same as we did. I hope they are see the beauty in her company and embrace it like we did. This is my request to the universe!

  • An amazing place to stay. Quiet and private but only a short walk to great cafes, fish and chips and an amazing craft brewery. Accom was light, bright and tastefully done. Spotlessly clean and the shower was incredible. Kathy was friendly and welcoming and the extra touches like fresh milk and fruit were great. Can't wait to come again and would highly recommend as a lovely escape from city life.

  • Great little place. Awesome location, could walk or ride provided bikes down to the wharf for lunch/dinner. Peaceful spot. Lovely flowers. Super comfy bed. Great shower. Private outdoor area. Enjoyed hearing the tuis. :)

  • This is a gorgeous wee studio. Kathy has great taste and the studio feels luxurious...a fantastic shower, neat wee kitchen and great bedding. Kathy was welcoming and really helpful on our arrival. I'd love to go back and stay longer some time.

  • We were only in town for one night on this occasion (sadly), but chose the apartment because it looked warm and inviting, which it certainly was. Kathy gave us a warm welcome, and communication was quick and clear. The apartment itself was to a very high standard with a lovely deck that catches the afternoon sun, and the woodfire was a particularly nice addition. Would recommend.

    Ian2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the spacious Studio that Kathy has created to the highest standard. Very comfortable bed, great decor and all facilities provided. Off street parking and bikes available. Fabulous location as it's so close to the coast and Mapua Wharf with bars, cafes and art. Nice walks around the township and estuary past a number of local artists. Hire a car in Nelson to get here and make the most of exploring this beautiful area.

    Helen2017-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to recharge. Everything you need is provided. Nice and close to the popular wharf.

  • Mapua is heaven and Kathy's place is so lovely. It's close to restaurants and wine tasting and the little town. It's beautiful and tastefully decorated. I came with my husband and we loved it so much we rearranged our NZ honeymoon to come back and spend the last few days back here. I highly recommend this place!

  • Jackie's sleep out is the perfect place to recover after exploring the Abel Tasman NP. The room is clean and well equiped. Total privacy, but the hosts are always close if you want to ask something. Jackie also provided fresh eggs, bacon, bread, vegetables, fruit, juice... everything we needed for a big and delicious breakfast. 10/10

    Klaas2016-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Jackie's was perfect! We slept in a sort of studio with all the facilities (kitchen, bathroom, etc.). Everything was very clean and tidy. Jackie welcomed us with some eggs, fruits and other good food on the fridge for our breakfast. A very peaceful place. We totally recommend! Thanks again Jackie :)

  • I truly enjoyed my four night stay at Jackie's sleep out. The space feels very private and cozy. It was very clean, with everything needed provided. Jackie was very welcoming and thoughtful, and as others have mentioned, that is shown by the fresh eggs and other breakfast items kindly provided. The location is very close to Ruby Bay/Mapua for a quick drive to shops or the beach, but is a relaxing escape from the nearby larger towns. I would definitely stay here again anytime.

  • Jackie was very welcoming and friendly and the room was very comfortable, with a private bathroom, cocking facilities and all we needed for a perfect breakfast, with eggs included!

    Camila2016-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie was the perfect host. We were both exhausted from a very full on trip and Jackie was extremely accommodating and understanding towards us! The sleep out was clean, tidy, beautifully appointed and the bacon/eggs (laid by Jackie's 'girls' - her chooks)/bread/fruit was a wonderful surprise. Jackie has also provided a clear file with tonnes of useful information about the area - including takeaway menus of various local eateries. Everything has been taken care of. Very comfortable bed and relaxed rural location. Recommended to others!

    Georgina2016-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie's sleep out is brilliant. Everything you need, a comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and a nice hot shower. Jackie also left bacon, eggs, bread, butter, tomatoes and peppers in the fridge for us - a real bonus. We'd loved our stay and would stay again.

    Andrew2016-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie and Alan were really nice hosts. We had a great time in their sleep-out. There is everything you need in it, and if not, just ask Jackie and Alan and they will be happy to help you. The sleep-out is really cosy, very clean and the bed is comfy. We slept like babies and didn't even hear the chooks in the morning ! We would definitely recommend this place to anybody.

The location of the cottage is great and very close drives to town and various natural beauties to explore. Liz was very nice at our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this place for a peaceful getaway and will try to come back again :)

    Helena2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place to end our honeymoon road trip of the South Island. Liz was lovely (she welcomed us with cherries, wine and chocolate!) and super helpful with her suggestions of things to do in the area. We used the cottage as a base for some wine tastings and a trip to Abel Tasman to go sea kayaking and it was perfect for both. We loved being able to walk to the wharf for drinks or a meal - Jellyfish, The Smokehouse and The Apple Shed were all awesome! The cottage was cosy and although the bed was too soft for our liking - the open windows and outdoor garden were idyllic. I wish I could bottle the smell of the lemon tree blooming while we were there! Walking the beach around the peninsula back to the cottage (in lieu of the residential street) was our favorite thing to do after dinner each night. Highly recommend!

    Kristin2016-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Liz did a great job of making us feel at home by providing us with local recommendations and helping us with various questions. Liz left some fresh fruit for us in a bowl, including perhaps the most delicious grapefruit we've ever had. The cottage was a wonderful place to stay, and is perfectly situated... it's just around the corner from the Mapua waterfront. The cottage is spacious, and has good wifi, laundry & a full kitchen. The rooms were clean and it was a wonderful experience staying here. We used it as a base to explore Abel Tasman, which is about a 30 minute drive away.

There are other accommodation options on the property, search Tumbleweed Downs.

It's about enjoying it for what it is - a natural environment with the pleasures that animals bring. My aim is to promote a warm, friendly, stress free environment that all will feel at home in. There could be a bit of fluff or a leaf on the carpet - it is a farmlet after all. The home has two guest rooms available - this room with one queen bed and a single; the bathroom is shared with the other guest room (if occupied). Also available on the property, a studio unit (sleeps 4) and a camper (sleeps 2). Home cooked farm style dinner and/or breakfast available by prior arrangement. • all those like me who love animals will be spoiled at Dawn. Cats are very affectionate and kittens too cabbage (French expression). Chicken, duck and ducklings come to their show from time to time in the house. Too funny. Dawn has generously offered us fruit from the garden, eggs fresh, a good glass of wine but unfortunately we do not drink. The language barrier did not allow us to exchange much of its simplicity but Dawn put us at ease. The area is beautiful, must, we spent living up to our expectations.

  • We stayed here for six days over the Christmas break and loved our visit. The house accommodated us all well, the beds were very comfortable. Everything was in the house that we needed, nice to not have to bring our own linen. The location was great, walked into Mapua, and along the beach often. Drove up and down the coast , was also a quick drive back into Nelson. Only issue we had really was the lighting in the lounge, no lights working so we were unable to read or play cards etc in the evening . But this was mentioned by Leigh, and it is going to be fixed . Thanks Leigh, we had a great little holiday.

    Amanda2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Leigh was at her home when we arrived and made us feel very welcome! Everything about her posting was quite accurate - seeing it in person put the pictures to shame - her place is so adorable! For our family of 5, Leigh's home was cute, adorable, welcoming and more. To wake up to the beautiful view of the ocean every day was more than I could ever expect. Leigh was very helpful and accommodating. The location was perfect for us to go to Abel-Tasman, Nelson, and Mapua. We walked to Mapua and chanced upon a great brewery: Sprig and Fern. The people were so kind. Leigh's neighbors were also quite friendly. Her home is spacious and having a BBQ and washing machine and clothesline were incredibly handy. Having wifi was an asset and not having a tv allowed our family to interact and find more adventures. I wish we could have spent our entire time at Leigh's place - it was the best part of our family's vacation. Thank you, Leigh!

    Luanne2015-12-26T00:00:00Z

Loved the waterfront with its restaurants, excellent fish and chip shop, bike hire and brewery! While we didn't meet her, Debbie's communications were clear and assisting - Thank you. We stayed one night in FernTree Cottage, I wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Debbie's cottage is in a lovely little town - very walkable, easy to get around, quite a few places for food. The accommodation itself is cosy. even though it is winter, the cottage was warm, thanks to the natural sunlight during the day. Very clean and tidy. You have everything you need. Lots of game and puzzles for sitting around at home in the afternoon. Mapua is a good base, not far from Motueka, Abel Tasman and Nelson. Make sure you visit the wharf for a walk in the evenings and try Rimu wine bar. For Really good coffee at the wharf, try Alberta's.

  • Our family stayed 3 nights in this cottage and loved it. It is very comfortable and a great place to relax. Debbie has books and games for indoor time although we had great weather so spend our days outside and exploring the area - which by the way is beautiful. Short walk into the wharf area with cafes and a brewrey (great beer) and yummy fish & chips place. We also rented bikes and took a ferry across to Rabbit Island. This cottage is just lovely and comfortable and kid friendly (gated). It is sunny (we had breakfasts out on the porch) and a great base to explore the area.

  • Green Tree cottage tucked all the boxes. Perfect for what we were after, 5 minute walk to town and Debbie a helpful and charming host.
