Places to stay in Rocky Mount
Stay at infamous Hotel Nicaragua, our historic home said to be a stop On The Road from Jack Kerouac's noteworthy book about the beat generation. Spacious house has large front porch and delightful back screened porch overlooking tiny fish pond and landscaped backyard. Within walking distance of downtown, NC State University, Pullen Park and Glenwood South Nightlife. Set in tree lined historic Boylan Heights. Central to everything with easy access to I-40 and Amtrak. The Convention Center, Red Hat Amphitheater, Marriott, Sheraton, Glenwood South and Warehouse District are within walking distance. There is easy on street parking at our location. Lots of museums and entertainment right nearby in addition to NCSU, Shaw U., Wm. Peace U. and St. Augustine's. This bedroom is on the first floor with adjoining private bathroom.
  • We stayed for two nights at Elizabeth and Dan's place in Boylan Heights - a neighborhoods we knew we loved from our years living in Raleigh. The house was amazing and the room was great, with a private bathroom attached. We really weren't there much over the weekend but it was a great place to come back to. Unfortunately we didn't ever meet Elizabeth and Dan but they gave great instructions for how to get in, etc. Thanks for a great place to stay!

  • Elizabeth and Dan were excellents hosts and great ambassadors for what airbnb hosts can be! Their home is not only beautiful and tastefully furnished, but also located very conveniently to both downtown and NC State. I was greeted warmly, the accomodations made me feel right at home, and the breakfast Elizabeth prepared was... well, fantastic. I also really enjoyed an early morning walk around their Boylan Heights neighborhood. A great experience.

  • My recent stay at Hotel Nicaragua was fantastic. The house and accommodations matched 100% with the description from the Airbnb website and Elizabeth and Dan were great. The house is gorgeous and it's clear they take pride in their establishment. When I arrived Dan was hard at work clearing branches from the yard - just another indication they work hard to keep the area in good order. Parking couldn't be easier since you can park directly in front of the house on the street without concern for parking enforcement. Elizabeth was very inviting and did a great job with a tour of the house. She made sure to inquire if I could make it for breakfast, which made me feel right at home. Unfortunately I had to leave early for work and wasn't able to stay, but she made me feel right at home with coffee already prepared in the kitchen and food awaiting me that I could take with me on the road (the blueberry nut muffin was divine). The service and experience exceeds the spot-on pricing. Given the opportunity, I will definitely be a repeat visitor.

  • What a great first Airbnb experience! Elizabeth was so helpful with suggestions and tidbits. She spoiled me at breakfast especially with her fantastic pancakes! She introduced me to grits and I LOVE them. Their home is in a beautiful neighbourhood and was central which made getting around very easy!! The room was so spacious and clean. Much more character than a hotel. A wonderful place to stay and will definitely go back if I get a chance to go that way again!

    Anna2014-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth and Dan were wonderful hosts. Their house is beautiful and they were very accommodating. The house is very close to the Amtrak station and within walking distance of downtown (probably 15 minutes or so by foot). I hope to stay here again when I'm back in Raleigh!

  • The only bad thing about my stay for two nights was that my plane left so early in the morning that I had to miss a rerun of "the amazing breakfast on the back porch". Our first morning, Elizabeth served us coffee, fruit and toast (hot breakfast was also available) while we watched the birds, the green frog and the squirrels in her beautiful garden. She and Dan gave us great recommendations about where to eat and where to visit. It was great to have their local knowledge. The house is beautiful and the room we had was very comfortable and clean with a large attached bathroom.

    Lynn2013-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic, large, comfortable, quiet, spotless room in a truly beautiful home. Elizabeth and Dan were extremely welcoming, and really made me feel like a guest in their home. A great dinner recommendation, and a tasty breakfast the next day. If I'm back in Raleigh, this would be my first port of call.

    Mark2015-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • We were there with the family and hijacked both rooms in Elisabeth's and Dans house. Great place, very friendly, nice neighbourhood, close to downtown Raleigh. We spent there three weeks and learned a lot about NC, thanks again!

We are fully inspected by the North Carolina Department of Health and are AAA inspected and approved. Also note that we do not add on an extra fee for cleaning.
The Ivy is located on Main Street and is a short walk to downtown shops and restaurants.
  • You will definitely enjoy your stay at this quaint bed and breakfast! Ellen is the consummate hostess who baked some banana bread and gave me a loaf ahead of time because I was going to miss breakfast. This inn is perfect for women travelers because you are definitely safe and secure here.

  • We had a short but excellent stay. It was fun to meet and chat with Ellen and Jerry like we had been friends for years. The place is beautiful and the room was comfortable and immaculate. What a great place to stay in the country. Wish we had an extra day to stay longer!

    Jeff2017-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay. Right in the little town and close to the venue of the wedding we were going to. Ellen and Jerry were very accommodating and made a great breakfast.

    Alexandra2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very tastefully decorated to be time period appropriate for the Victorian style of the home. Unfortunately we did not get to meet Ellen and Jerry but they took care to leave us carful and accurate instructions on entrance and the room itself. The town is small but has an interesting history.

    Nicole2016-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our short stay in a charming Victorian. Charming historical town.

    John2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect spot for my best friend and I to stop during our road trip. Ellen and Jerry were both very pleasant and our delicious homemade breakfast gave us the energy we needed to start our day!

    Courtney2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Ellen and Jerry were wonderful hosts....knowledgeable about local history and experienced hosts. They are great cooks and the home was delightfully pleasant to explore. Thank you Jerry and Ellen.

  • Elizabeth & Dan were very caring and attentive hosts. Their home was beautiful, and they cooked breakfast to boot. They even gave me a ride to the conference I was in town for, which was totally going above and beyond. They live in kind of a hip neighborhood, and there's a few trendy restaurants within 10 minutes walking distance. Nothing but good things to say, would stay again.

    Ian2012-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very nice stay with Elizabeth & Dan, at their very tastefully appointed home. The house has a lot of charm, but is well equipped with amenities. The breakfast was just right, and the coffee very good. It was a 10-13 minute walk to the Raleigh Convention Centre where my conference was, which was very handy. It was also quick to local eating/drinking places with lots of charm. My hosts were also very responsive with my questions pre-arrival, such as places to eat, and ways to get to their place from RDU. All in all, a very nice stay, and I would stay with them again if I came back to Raleigh.

    Rob2016-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Minutes walk to downtown, great food, and drinks. Dan and Elizabeth were fantastic hosts. We had a great chat, delicious breakfast, and the place was clean and had lots of character. Will definitely be staying there when I come to town again.

  • After a decade of frequent AirBNBs in many states and countries, Hotel Nicaragua claims first prize as my favorite. Everything about it was perfect: friendly hosts, sparkling clean facilities, great coffee and breakfast, plenty of room, and a big desk to spread out on. A great value and experience.

    Charlie2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Hotel Nicaragua. Elizabeth and Dan are very nice and their home is beautiful. The bedrooms and bathroom were neat and all sorts of essentials (shampoo, towels, toothbrush, etc.) were available if needed. I highly recommend this listing! The location is also fantastic-- only a 10 minute walk to the convention center and downtown Raleigh.

    Lisa2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth and Dan have been welcoming hosts on each of my stays in their beautiful home.

    Lisa2016-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Handsomely restored older home. Very comfortable room and amenities.

    Douglas2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • My first stay through Airbnb and it couldn't have been more perfect. Elizabeth and Dan were very welcoming! Their home is absolutely beautiful and peaceful --a wonderful place to have spent the night! Highly recommend their "Hotel Nicaragua". Elizabeth will share their home's lore and town history and even escort you up to the local pub which has a fabulous view of the Raleigh skyline. Would have loved to have spent more time. Thank you both for a great Airbnb experience!

  • Good location! Very secure. The host tries very hard to please and easy check in/ checkout! Very beautiful historic home and comfortable bed and bath. Quiet. Parking a little tight and a good number of steps to pull your stuff up but overall a nice stay!

    Linda2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful second stay in November. The Music House is beautiful, relaxing, and an amazing historic restoration. Nothing was missed. The Brahams room was spacious and the bed and linens were amazing. John definately has earned his super host status

  • Jon is awesome and so is The Music House.

    Jason2018-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful home. It is definitely the music house and John is an outstanding host. It will be our first choice of places to stay in Greenville.

  • Very close to restaurants and shops. Easy commute to ECU

    Jill2018-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Music House. John met us on arrival and showed us the house and to our room. He very kindly provided many amenities we weren't expecting such as snacks, fluffy robes, bath products/toiletries,and breakfast. The real treat to our trip was the house itself. It is a magnificent Victorian lovingly restored with great care and detail. The wallpaper alone is worth staying for, so is the claw foot tub. The house and room were clean and the bed and linens were comfortable. We had lovely meals at two of the restaurants John recommended. Can't say enough about our stay here! We will definitely come again. John, thank you for sharing your lovely home!

    Lauren2015-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • John's place is great. This was our second time staying there. The rooms are clean, comfortable and decorated beautifully. John is a great host. You can't beat the location for downtown Greenville fun!!

This is a large room in the upstairs of our house.
This is an upstairs room in our house. We offer incredible value, comfort, safety, and convenience in a solar powered house. You will have independent control over heating and cooling in this room, similar to a hotel only much quieter. We have recently updated our HVAC systems to high efficiency ductless mini splits. We are located just north of Greenville city limits on 14 acres located just one mile off a major road. This room has an oak floor, one lounge chair, large armoire, desk, internet access, queen bed, private bathroom, table and chairs. In general we will have this space ready at all times. If you arrange for same day stay, please understand any dust or cobwebs. We think this in an ideal space in the country for one or multiple nights. On days we work our social interaction will be minimal but you will be welcome to break bread with us. If we are off work we can be more accommodating and will plan better around your schedule. Flexible breakfast if you are willing to cook when we are out of the house. Eggs, bread and spreads, coffee, tea, maybe more. We would be happy to suggest local activities and restaurants that we enjoy. The airport is nearby, we will help transport as able. We have recently installed a Nema 14-50 (40 amp) exterior charging for electric cars and hope many Tesla owners take advantage of our facilities. We will charge for peak demand above and beyond our current actual peak demand only. PLEASE NOTE: We are noticing an increase in the number of people that "inquire" about our place without confirming the reservation in a reasonable time frame. When you inquire about staying here on a given date, our lives immediately change as we plan our schedules, eating, work, and cleaning habits. If you inquire about the property without the intent to quickly confirm that you are coming please tell us as we will not approve your stay until your schedule firms up. Additionally, if you inquire, get approved, but do not book/confirm within a reasonable time frame (24 hours??) then we will remove your approval. You can then further communicate your plans with us but keep in mind that someone else may book in the interim. Thank you for your understanding. We offer incredible value, comfort, safety, and convenience in a solar powered house.
  • What a great experience! Joe and Beth were so great. Wonderful, relaxing country atmosphere. Highly recommend!

    Steve2016-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Joe was fantastic! This was one of my favorite airbnb experiences yet. I look forward to staying there again.

    Luke2018-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay with Joe and Beth. They are exceptionally friendly and interesting people. I enjoyed sharing a meal and the homemade wine. Joe was really helpful in communicating about how to get to the house and throughout my experience during the stay. The location was perfect for me and close to the hospital and other places I need to be in Greenville. The room was as described and very comfortable. It was nicely decorated and a great size for relaxing in.. I didn't have a chance to see much of the outside but I I think it would've been relaxing to walk around on the property and see some of the farming activities that Joe and Beth carry out. This is one of the reasons I use air B&B because I enjoy meeting people and it is very helpful to have choices about where to stay. Joe and Beth make using air B&B that much more special and I would definitely stay here again.

    Jackie2015-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • I really appreciated that was given the opportunity to make breakfast if I had chosen to. I was provided everything to make breakfast. The room and bathroom were very clean and there was an information book provided in the room full of local restaurants and sites with opinions .Would highly recommend.

    John2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place to stay! My boyfriend and I stayed for one night while scouting out places to live in the area and only wish we'd been able to spend more time sipping wine on that big back porch. Joe and Beth were friendly and flexible hosts.

    McCaila2014-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Joe and Beth are the best! Flexible, accommodating, the room is huge, immaculate, bed is very comfortable with lovely linens, the private bathroom is beautiful spotless, shower is wonderful, their home is located in a peaceful safe area, close to everything, there is a terrific screened in porch for morning coffee, or evening cocktails. Hosts are wonderful to chat with and they gladly share the delicious meals they make. Joe had coffee made, Beth is a phenomenal baker, I advise trying anything that comes out of their kitchen! Definitely will come again and encourage anyone to stay here wish I could rate higher!

    Melinda2016-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Joe’s place is one of a kind. I always enjoy my stay. Great people and amazing hospitality.

    Luke2018-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Joe and Beth are amazing hosts! The place is clean and the thoughtful touches were appreciated. I loved being away from the craziness of town but still being just a 10-15 minute drive to Vidant. I would definitely stay here again.

  • This was my first time using Airbnb and my experience at the Music House was amazing. John was so helpful and he responded right away to emails. The house is beautiful and had so much character. The room looked just like the pictures online. The only thing I hate was my trip was too short, I would have loved to spend more time in the house and get to know the background of the house. I would recommend this house to everyone traveling to Greenville.

  • If you are looking for an oasis of serenity, look no further. Greenville, NC is so fortunate to have such a gorgeous gem from yesteryear. You must go!

  • Stunningly restored home in period antiquities and all modern conveniences as well, this home is a couple of blocks from 'Up Town" and the heart of Greenville, NC. John is a spectacular host and the music in the home is an added charm. I was lucky to be there during one of his house concerts of Vivaldi chamber music and it was such a treat to be included in the show. It is truly a luxurious and inviting place to stay and get lost in the magic of the Music House!

  • This place is amazing. The photos in the listing capture the room perfectly. The entire house is decorated beautifully. The bathroom retained it's antique charm while being modern and updated. Both the room and bathroom were extremely clean and had any necessary safety equipment (fire extinguisher, rope ladder, etc.). John was great to work with; he responded very quickly to all of my communication. He provided a wide range of amenities and was welcoming, informative and helpful without being overbearing. The house was in a great location and has a large porch that would be great to hang out on. It's definitely a hidden gem in Greenville, we would stay here again on our next trip!

    Katie2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay at the Music House. The house was beautiful and nicely decorated. John was a wonderful host, providing everything I needed upon arrival and always very prompt in responding to messages. The location of the house is great, only a short walk from downtown. If you are an ECU parent, the west campus is only a couple of minutes away by car and less than a 10 minute walk. I highly recommend this place!

  • Great space and private. Exceptionally clean and comfortable

    Joseph2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at with Richard was our first Airbnb experience and because of his hospitality, it will not be our last. He answered all inquiries promptly prior to our arrival and was nothing but a gracious host from the minute we arrived to the moment we left. He gave us tips about the area, a tour of our space and assured us that he was available for any questions at any time. The space was very clean and private. We awoke our first day to a beautiful tray of fruits, scones, eggs, coffee and OJ right outside our door. What a nice surprise! We would recommend Richard to anyone staying in the Wake Forest area. If this type of stay is what we can expect for future travel, we are sold on Airbnb, and hope that is the case. Richard's hospitality will be hard to match. Thank you Richard!!

    Jim2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Richard is a wonderful host with a gorgeous space to share. He's great at communicating, very helpful, and very happy to have guests in his home. He even set out a breakfast spread for us in the morning!

    Jason2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. The host is amazing. Southern hospitality for sure. Respects one privacy, went above and beyond all expectations. I would recommend to anyone staying in the area especially for females traveling alone like me.

  • The accommodations were spotless. The pictures did not do the home justice. Everything was explained so clearly and our hosts were inviting and kind. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Beautiful town to relax in..

  • The inn was a fabulous place to spend a beautiful spring weekend bicycling in the Washington are! The hosts could not have been better, very nice breakfast, excellent coffee, good advice on local restaurants, and quite helpful all around.

  • What a lovely and delightful place to spend a celebratory evening. We loved our experience with David and Sheri. Their home is absolutely lovely, their hospitality thoughtful and genuine. Nothing was lacking. Everything was absolutely perfect and I highly recommend a visit to their Inn!

  • We loved the Victorian decor down to the last detail. It was like stepping back in time. Strolling downtown & along the boardwalk was a great way to relax, and the downtown dining options were fun. We stayed 2 nights to celebrate my birthday and I really enjoyed it. David & Sheri are excellent hosts. Continental breakfast was a treat with locally baked pastries and fresh brewed coffee served in a cozy Victorian room. We'd love to come back.

    Eddie2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing! This home is one of many jewels in the neighborhood, lovingly restored by the owners - not just quiet and clean, the rooms are artistically themed to the smallest detail - something which cannot be captured in the ad photos. When I travel there is always one AirBnB location which stands out, in my travels to the East Coast, this location was the best! The hosts were friendly, inviting, and knowledgeable about the area. They made my stay feel like a 5 Star Hotel with the feeling of Southern Hospitality. Thank you for making me feel at home when I was away from home!

My place is close to the airport, Brothers Farm, Chef And The Farmer. You’ll love my place because of the neighborhood. This house built in 1850 for a girls dormitory for Lenoir Collegiate Insititute the only college east of Raleigh 12 large two-story homes were built as dormitories for the students. Six homes still remain today. The assembly bell still remains in the church yard today. My place is good for couples. Transportation can be furnished to and from the bnb to The Chief & Farmer .
  • Quiet, quaint, and wonderfully low key are the best ways to describe this weekend getaway. I was in town for a wedding nearby, and found the quiet and unassuming homestead the perfect compliment to the hustle and bustle of the wedding. The drive out there was gorgeous, and the house is filled with an old world charm that is hard to get anywhere else. The experience was authentic, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get away from the city for a quick, quiet weekend! Ida is extremely nice, and helped me understand all that was available to me at the house. It was a great experience!

    Terence2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • This a great historical home with very comfortable amenities. We were made to feel at home and enjoyed our stay very much.

    Susan2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Ida's grandmother's home is historic, full of beautiful, preserved spaces. Yes, we were one of those folks who came down to try Chef and the Farmer, but staying with Ida was icing on the cake - such a joy! The space was perfect for our stay and the home is well maintained. Ida offered quite a spread for breakfast too! Don't miss this wonderful, historic home and kind family!

  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Mama Hardys. The house was very nice and beds were comfortable. Snacks and drinks were provided and appreciated. Home was about 20 mins from Chef and the Farmer restaurant which was convenient. Ida was a great hostess and very attentive to our needs. Enjoyed hearing about the historic area.

    Jean2017-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, historic home that is only 20 minutes from Chef and the Farmer. We enjoyed talking with miss Ida and learning the history of the home and area.

This Wagon Road Bed and Breakfast Inn is located on an old plantation wagon road that led to Raliegh from Wilson, North Carolina which is still a quaint little farm today. Old oak trees and a spacious yard amid the farm fields lend reclusiveness. This old plantation home is situated on a spacious yard with lots of trees amid the farm fields where the cotton, the corn and the soybeans grow. There is a living room, a den with TV, and an extra bathroom downstairs. We can take you boating to the local lake if you would like to for an extra fee of $100. There is the Boykin Theater, an old Vaudeville theater that has been wonderfully renovated and it puts on the most joyful plays one can imagine; the art museum with monthly exhibits of both local and far artists; southern style barbecue restaurants like Parkers Barbecue (my favorite) just up the road a couple of miles. The city bus stop is only a mile distant. You may use the den's couch for an extra bunk if you have a child or two. No dogs are running loose. You may use our dog pen for your pet. It is well maintained. There is a living room, a den with TV, and an extra bathroom downstairs. There is a yard game I created called pitcherspal backboard located in the front yard that is fun for one and all to play.(visit pitcherspal on utube and the web) We can take you boating to the local lake if you would like to for an extra fee of $100. • We enjoyed our stay with George and William! The house is quite amazing, knowing something about the history now, and the tobacco house, the cemetery, and other outbuildings gave us a real appreciation of where we were. George and his brother went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and provided a delicious breakfast!

    Cathy2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful bed and breakfast! The hospitality was amazing.

    Victor2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • The room is upstairs and offers a private bathroom. The privacy was excellent! The deck was a great bonus with it's view over the fields in back of the house. I left the deck door ajar and let the cool Carolina breeze in during the night. The wooden floored front porch offered another great place to sit and enjoy the relaxing environment. George was kind enough to let guests walk about the grounds and take a look at the tobacco and soybeans growing around. Blackie the cat greeted me and seemed to want to lead me to the room and then she was ready to go back out! The house is a great 1800's (guessing) with charm, character and good updates. The room offered two walk-in closets, a large bed, a private deck and a private bath. Downstairs, they provided breakfast at 8 AM in a charming old dining room off the kitchen. The location was great, and provided easy access to downtown Wilson. Everything was clean and functional. Would definitely stay there again!

  • Lovely pre civil ear farmstead home. Very quiet. Beautiful room and bath. Balcony porch which to watch a distant thunderstorm in the evening. On site Tennant was helpful, friendly and engaging. George and his brother William were delightful to have a Sunday breakfast with in the formal dining room. Beautiful property.

  • The Wagon Road BnB Inn is a hidden treasure! We were actually looking for an accommodation between Charleston and Richmond and found this peaceful place. A house, an old farmhouse, built approximately in the 1870s, is decorated with so much love, so you can feel the old times! The room is commodious and the bed is comfortable. Also the bathroom is impressive. And we enjoyed also the balcony to rest a while. Further you can sit in the living room and feel like like the housekeeper. William, the brother of George, lives in the house, and we had a really nice chat with him. You definitely have to try this location!!! Thumbs up from two germans ;-)

  • We had a wonderful visit to Wagon Trail B and B. The accommodations were perfect for my family. It was great to travel with the kids and for them to have acres of land to run around on and explore. Beautiful setting amidst cotton fields but conveniently located to everything in Wilson, NC. The Carr family were all very helpful and welcoming. The home is inviting and comfortable. We will definately stay again if in Wilson.

  • This place is great! If you are considering staying, JUST DO IT! We had a wonderful time. The house is a beautiful treasure trove of history, the farm and the animals were so fun and the breakfast, oh my.....Mary Betty pulls out all the stops! We came to visit Chef and the Farmer, and although its not as close as some places, its more than worth the unique experience!!! We also brought home some fresh meats from thier store along with neat memories that you just cant get anywhere else. Thank you M & O, you both made our visit so special. Would love to return! L & K :)

    Lauren2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The experience was everything we expected and more. Mary Betty and Ossie are the most gracious and thoughtful hosts. We stayed in the carriage house. It was warmly decorated and included a bedroom, sitting room with kitchen and bathroom. Mary Betty has thought of everything. The trundle bed is quite high and one does need the stepstool to get in and out. The breakfast was unbelievable. Biscuits in the shape of a cow, muffins, fruit, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, locally raised pork sausages and more. The dining room is elegant with gorgeous antique dining table and cabinets containing silver service. Mary Betty is very knowledeable about local history and shares stories with guests. But more than anything, it is clear that she truly enjoys hosting guests with her genuine warmth.

  • What a lovely place! This beautifully appointed, historic home is charming. We had such a good time walking the farm, seeing the cows and Mary’s breakfast is incredible. We would come back in a heartbeat. It is just lovely and the icing to a lovely weekend and dinner at Chef and the Farmer. Highly recommend this inn! Thank you, Mary.

The Music House is a Victorian home -- one of the oldest in Greenville -- which has been meticulously preserved and decorated in period style. Located in "Uptown Greenville" walking distance to ECU and 5 minute drive to Vidant Health Center.

The location is Greenville North Carolina, NOT SOUTH CAROLINA!!! The Music House is located in the heart of downtown or as we refer to it "Uptown Greenville". 5 minute walk to restaurants and downtown shops. Street noise is not heard inside the house but emergency vehicles can be heard at times and the train comes through town several times a day and the whistle can be heard inside the house.
  • John welcomed us and made us feel at home. The room was lovely with blackout curtains and the bathroom was top of the line. We enjoyed his soft piano playing in the morning and close proximity - walking distance - to uptown restaurants. We look forward to returning! Thanks, Mary Kay

  • I booked Memorial Day weekend at John's for a friend of mine who was visiting. John made my friend feel extremely welcome and comfortable. The rooms and house are impeccable. Hanging out on the porch and with John and other guests were highlights of the visit. I recommend this BnB to anyone who wants a totally relaxing but fun - and really special - place to stay in Greenville, NC.

    Farah2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Even though John was traveling out of town the night we stayed at the Music House he made sure everything was in place and his assistant was waiting for us to go over our accommodations. She was friendly and helpful, even offered to give us a ride to the ECU football game but we decided to walk. The house is filled with many beautiful and interesting pieces-furniture, art, photos, musical instruments of all types. Our room was clean and well appointed. There were snacks and drinks available for us and the bed was super comfortable. We'd stay again if we were visiting the area. Thanks John

  • The Beethoven room is absolutely charming as is the whole Music House. Wonderful accommodations and John’s gardens are gorgeous. Enjoyed being lulled to sleep with the beautiful sound of John on the flute downstairs. The Music House is on the National Historic Registry and tells a story of its own once you enter the house. Super comfy rooms, excellent array of breakfast items, and excellent communication. Wonderful restaurants within walking distance from the house. My only regret is the gorgeous room is already booked for an ECU event I will be attending.

    Linda2018-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • John is a wonderful host and the house is beautiful. If you are a music lover you are in for a treat as John teaches piano at East Coast Carolina. If you nudge him, just might play you a piece on the harp or piano. We stayed in the Beethoven room. The bathroom is really cool with a beautiful shower and lots of room. We loved our stay and highly recommended it. Thanks John for everything!

  • The Music House was just as decribed. The bjst is excellent! John is very accommodating and is a fast communicator. Every time I needed to communicate with John he would respond within the hour. I have a 1 year son and John made sure that there was things for my son and went out of his way to make sure we felt at home. We felt as though we were staying with a friend and not in a strangers home. John is the best. I will definitely stay here again.

  • Hospitality at its best!! We have been Airbnb Host and guests for years now and The Lumiere house is a true gem! The house and all it's history was so nice to be in. Beautifully decorated and clean! The private rooms had everything we needed for our stay. Beds were comfortable, ac worked great and the decor was outstanding. But the highlight of the trip was David and Cherie. They were right there when needed but also had this knack for giving us our privacy. The attention to details really stood out to us. They served us breakfast one morning that blew us away. Waters in the bedrooms, Umbrellas when it started to rain...and countless other little things that continued to impress. If you get the chance to stay here...take it! You will not be disappointed!

  • Mama Hardy's is a beautiful home situated in rural, eastern North Carolina. The bed and breakfast is owned and operated by Mrs. Ida. Mrs. Ida is a wonderful lady, full of history and love for her business. The sitting room and the dining area is very relaxing. Mrs. Ida will meet you there when you arrive and walk you through the history and improvements that she has made to make the home what it is. I encourage people to stay here, especially if you plan on visiting Chef & the Farmer. Immerse yourself in the southern culture, beautiful farm land, and good old country cookin. Large suite in the Carolina countryside has full kitchen, full private bath, outside entrance. This very private, Eco-friendly suite in the renovated Pack House has all the amenities: wireless, cable TV, laundry. Good stopover for Outer Banks.
The Pack House suite is very private and has a spectacular view of the lakes and the Carolina countryside. This is not "roughing it" it is country luxury.
I was born in this house that is now Big Mill B&B and the history is everywhere. My father built the Pack House in 1935 and it now has three suites in it. This is country living at its best and I love growing fruits, nuts and vegetables here on the farm.
  • Cozy, charming and comfortable room in a unique bed and breakfast. Chloe was an excellent host and helped with anything I needed; this is a very special place to stay! Would recommend to anyone traveling on business or just wanting to get away for some R&R!

  • Make this a stop with Carolina charm and history like no other... don't pass this by!!!

  • The bed and breakfast was full so Chloe offered me one of the two airstreams she has on the property. The airstream was very clean and had cute touches of home. Unfortunately, the first real cold snap hut while I was there. I was not comfortable sleeping with the space heater on due to the risk of a fire. I slept comfortably under all the extra blankets I brought, but getting out of bed in the morning was COLD. The property was incredible and very safe and peaceful. I would love to visit again.

  • Big Mill was a slice of heaven!!! Chloe has thought of everything to make your stay perfect. She has a sound machine in the Park house, every kitchen tool you could possibly need slow cooker blender to name a few. Fantastic wifi and great tv reception and channels. Fragrant Big Mill lavender soap is just lovely. She has decorated the rooms beautifully the pictures don't show the true beauty of the rooms and grounds. An eclectic mix of country chic furnishings and color palettes that look like an interior designer decorated it. A coffee station with three types of coffee(woohoo). The room is cleaned daily holidays etc . We were extremely surprised at how through they were!!!! I am extremely finicky and our suite was kept spotless. The bed and bedding were super comfy and Chloe hangs the sheets on the clothes line. The gardens and grounds are so pretty with all kinds of flowers, vegetables, grape vines and fig tress to name a few. There are hammocks which we really enjoyed resting in and tables to eat out doors with a grill to use. Chloe takes the time to help you find restaurants and things to do in the area.It truly was an Oasis. We are in a hurry to stay again... Thank you so much Chloe for such a super experience. (See Note below.) Private room+bath in the Boylan Heights historic district, easy 15-minute walk downtown, good restaurants/cafes, museums, galleries, new YMCA, Amtrak, public transport and NCSU campus. Laundry, TV, WiFi, newspapers, kitchen,...
***Note*** until the City of Raleigh decides to allow renting for less time than a month, that will have to be my minimum stay at $420 (+ $120 for a 2nd person). Hope to be able to remove this notice soon. ~{8-)> This private room+bath is in our soon-to-be 100-year old home in the Boylan Heights historic district. It's an easy 15-minute walk to downtown Raleigh, public transportation and the NCSU campus. There's a free circulator bus that goes around downtown and a similar bus at NCSU. We're also a few blocks from the Amtrak train station. It's a 20-minute drive from the airport to our home. There are many great restaurants in the nearby Morgan St., Glenwood South (which has a Zipcar site), and Warehouse District and in downtown plus our neighborhood Boylan Brewpub (currently closed for repairs) just a few blocks away with an outdoor deck and view of downtown Raleigh. There's a large shared HDTV with 15-20 channels, plus wifi and laundry on 2nd floor. Do-it-yourself breakfast (juice, good granola/yogurt, eggs, toast or bread, jams, etc.) and coffee and tea are available. The cluttered main floor guestroom has small desk, double sleeper sofa, attached private bath, and shared closet. Includes utilities, main floor common rooms, laundry and kitchen privileges. Parking on street or off alley; city bus-line stops 2 blocks away. Guests OK but no smokers, please (allergic). I'm a former NCSU math instructor (widower, semi-retired) and my lady friend, who shares the house with me, is an NCSU nurse. We look forward to welcoming you.
Big, old trees and interesting mix of architectures and neighbors, many connected to NCSU. Besides the YMCA, there's Pullen Park with a fancy, new natatorium, open year-round and cheap. Our Boylan Brew Pub rates highly with guests. A 5k jogging route begins and ends at my door, with much of it feeling like shaded country lane.
  • Marsh, really nice guy who made sure everything was looked after. Even accepted to be a "drop adress" for some very large packages that I sent. The accommodations were comfortable and his granola is A+. He has a great knowledge of the surrounding area!

  • Marsh and Cynthia are AMAZING! They are really sweet and caring. They would always make sure I had everything I needed and that I was comfortable. They even made sure I wasn't hungry. I've got a different room because the one listed was in use. However, he told me about it in advance and I was cool with it. The room was nice and comfortable. The house in general is clean and cozy. With my deposit for the key I've also got a bike that I used to come back and forth the Convention Center, which is super close by. So convenient! Marsh offered to pick me up from the train station and to drive me whenever I needed. I moved around fine so I took his offer the last day and he dropped me in the convention center in the morning. I'm sure I'm leaving a some nice details out. Bottom line, I can't recommend them enough!. I'll definitely stay again whenever I come to Raleigh! .

  • Marsh was a fantastic host, exceptionally hospitable and welcoming, and a joy to talk to and spend some time with. This is a great place to stay and I'd highly recommend it.

  • This was my first experience with AirBnB and I was thrilled with the experience. Marsh and Cynthia offered sincere southern hospitality and took care of me like family. They are interesting, kind and fun. Their old house is charming, nestled under some beautiful old growth trees with a climbing rope in the back and a swing on the front porch. The private room and bathroom was a perfect retreat for me during my conference at NCSU.

  • Marsh is very personable and a considering host. This listing is accurate in that you get what you see.

  • Marsh and Cynthia were great hosts! Always offering suggestions on where to go, what to see, how to get there, and offering us food and drink. March also was kind enough to give us several rides into downtown. The area was nice and only a short walk away from the Raleigh downtown.

Mule Room Suite is for guests looking for extended stay, short or long-term rentals without having to sign a contract. Perfect for traveling doctors and nurses, folks who come to work in our area for short periods of time or are transferred to surrounding towns. Everything is included: dishes, linens, cable TV, wireless internet, laundry & maid service-private entrance, tiled bath, Mexican tile kitchen & the peace and quiet of the eastern North Carolina countryside. ASK ABOUT LONG-TERM RATES
This new suite has honey-colored pine floors, bead-board and tobacco stick ceiling, tiled bath, walnut dining table, and a kitchenette of rustic Mexican tile. Hand crafted art from Central America and morning sun warm the room.
Big Mill is located in the countryside about 3 miles from the sleepy town of Williamston, NC. Imagine Mayberry and you know Williamston. Folks know each other and are very friendly. This is an especially safe area, something our women travelers appreciate.
  • My Fiance and I stayed in the Mule Room for an extended stay. Everything is as described, perhaps even better! The grounds themselves make the experience; from the fresh tomatoes, peppers, and figs ready to be picked, fishing in the lake, and lying in one of the many hammocks. It is a truly peaceful place. Chloe was very welcoming and attentive to our needs. She was also easy to contact through phone, text, email, or by simply walking over to her house which is on the property. And if it couldn't get better, housekeeping comes through the suite everyday. Nothing better than coming home to a clean suite after a long days work.

  • As a traveling nurse I travel all over the United States. It can be very difficult to arrange housing. Chloe went way over the extra mile to help me, she was so kind and helpful. Unfortunately my plans changed at the last minute and I did not actually stay at her wonderful property. But Chloe is wonderful, so I highly recommend both the property and the host.
