  • My girlfriend and I went for our anniversary and it was lovely! The apartment is stocked with helpful items and comes with a detailed guide. The details of the house are delightful. Our hosts were kindly flexible about arrival time and also had left us fresh cream, blue eggs and plenty of refreshments. A perfect getaway with a lovely yard which makes the place feel very private. Would definitely return!

    Kristin2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing experience. It was exactly what we were looking for if not more. We loved the food provided. It allowed us to make a cute brunch in the morning. We will definitely be returning and referring others to stay there.

  • William was a great host. I went for my birthday weekend with my girlfriend and had a lovely time. He even set out a cupcake for my birthday. He was quick to respond to any request. He was even nice enough to allow us to extend our checkout time.

    David2017-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This little retreat was exactly what we needed. Cute and cozy, super clean and spacious for how small the actual room was. Waking up to the green back yard was the BEST. William was great to communicate with and on the ball about everything. I would come back here in a heartbeat! Thanks William!

    Alison2016-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • My host William was wonderful and attentive as were the dogs! The space was a perfect getaway for me to get some work accomplished. It's a unique retreat in a peaceful neighborhood. You will love it!

  • My parents stayed at this place about four weeks ago and they liked it so much that I decided to book it for my boyfriend and me too! Such a nice apartment, it's small but it provides everything you need and it's so cozy! It's a perfect get away as it's sour surrounded by trees and nature. William's dogs are very cute and William himself communicates fast and keeps in touch during your stay to make sure everything is fine. Would highly recommend his place!!

    Katharina2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure being on this property surrounded by the beauty and quiet of nature. The apartment is small but remarkably well-equipped. I especially appreciated Dr Bronner's and Meyer's soaps, heirloom eggs in fridge, and other earth (and human)-friendly touches. Wish I had longer than an overnight to explore the area. William was a friendly and welcoming host, quickly responsive to communications. I wouldn't hesitate to return, and recommend this accommodation.

    Cozy Redding Retreat
    107 reviews
This sweet little cottage on our pond is your perfect mini vacation with direct access to one of CT's best kept secrets, Huntington State Park is steps away. Peaceful and quiet you can also hike, bike, kayak, x/c ski and explore the countryside.
Our little cottage on the pond behind our house was built around 1920. We have recently updated it and kept its beautiful rustic charm. We hope our guests will enjoy all that nature has to offer here. The pond and woods are filled with the peaceful sights and sounds of myriad birds, frogs and wildlife.
Redding CT is a peaceful rural and historic town surrounded by similar towns, but each unique in historical, natural and architectural features. Many artists choose this area as home because the of the light and natural beauty. The cottage is nestled between Putnam Park and Huntington Sate Park. There are miles upon miles of great trails in this area and right out side the door step of this cottage! There are many farm stands, wine country tours, antiquing trails and cultural activities. Check out our guidebook for our recommendations of places to eat.
  • Such a lovely location and a romantic cabin! Walking distance to some beautiful hiking trails which was great. We didn't get a chance to meet our hosts, but Rosamond was really sweet and very communicative. Rosamond even left us some wonderful refreshments for our arrival which was very thoughtful! Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

    Morgan2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The time we spent at the cottage was absolutely amazing. The living situation was more than comfortable for two people and having the TV and full kitchen to relax was wonderful. Rosamond was the perfect host and treated us to breakfast foods every day, which was extremely generous! We spent time in the state park, which definitely lived up to our high expectations! We wouldn't have had anything go differently during our stay.

    Ellen2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcomed by Rose. She was very respectful of our privacy but also checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. She left yummy snacks for us upon our arrival and even brought us delicious pancakes with real maple syrup as a surprise one morning. The pictures and listing are accurate. Although, I would say it was even nicer than the pictures. We were surrounded by woods on 3 sides of the house. And, with the windows open, we heard the birds, frogs, and wind in the trees. It was so peaceful and healing. We never wanted to leave. The bed was very comfortable with my favorite sheets. They were crisp, clean cotton sheets - not the faux luxury high count sheets. Such a treat! We would walk across the street (5 minute walk) to Huntington State Park which was lovely. Ponds, hikes, kayaking, etc... We also hiked the Saugutuck Falls which was glorious. It was so peaceful. Perfect peaceful nature weekend.

    Rebecca2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Rosamonds little cabin is absolutely beautiful and exactly as described. We couldn't have asked for more. I can absolutely recommend this quite place to anyone who wants to have a relaxed weekend away from the city. We will definitely be back. Thank you

    Valeska2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Hi there- Rose and her family were charming and great hosts. The cabin is really special , tucked by a pony and very tranquil. Rose spoiled us with Banana Bread and was lovely to our dog Wanda. Stay here it's a peach! X Tom and Kelli ( and Wanda!)

    Tom2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Rose is a great host she always checked to see if I needed anything ,but left me enjoy the peaceful cabin which was cozy and private. I slept like a baby, need time to your self this it .

    Gardner2016-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Rosamond's cottage was the definition of cozy! She was such a wonderful host. We had no troubles the entire weekend. Just peace and quite. The Collis P Huntington state park was across the street and had trails leading to great views of the lake! There was also a beautiful Italian restaurant that was recommended a few minutes away and everything was so good I was thinking about it the next day. All in all my experience at here was one of the best and I highly recommend anyone who's looking for a relaxing getaway to stay here 10 out of 10 times!!

    Edwin2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the cottage, which is clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Our host Rosamond, who was friendly and communicative, even baked us some scones for breakfast! Checking in and out was a breeze. It was a little chilly in the cottage as one of the bedroom windows doesn't close. Rosamond offered to have her husband get the fire going for us at the beginning of the stay; we didn't take her up on the offer, but it probably would have solved the temperature issue.

A clean rustic cottage on a quiet country road in Redding. Just a few minutes’ drive to shopping, dining and the train to NYC. A great short term hotel-alternative or just an escape from it all! The cottage is about 550 sq ft with an open floor plan. Please note: Pets must be pre-approved prior to booking.
Property is located on a quiet cul-de-sac in beautiful Redding, CT. Only two miles to shopping and restaurants.
  • We were looking for a quiet weekend retreat away from NYC, and the Cottage was perfect. We had a bottle of wine, played Scrabble, and fell fast asleep. Also Redding, CT is beautiful in the fall, and Devil's Den was a colorful hike.

    Jay2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed at Leslie's adorable cottage several times now when I visit my mother at a local residential living facility. Usually, I visit alone and have been so delighted to have this sweet little cottage to come back to in the evening especially in the winter with the gas stove burning. This time my husband joined me. He was equally delighted by the charm, comfortable bed, with all necessary amenities. I will be back next visit. Thank you, Leslie.

    Shawn2016-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ive stayed here several times now and it is always just perfect.

    Linda2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage on a very quiet residential street. Loved the quaint breakfast items left for our first morning, including local dairy products and eggs that were wonderful!! We also enjoyed the old vinyl albums and player available. My personal favorite if the "amenities" were the fresh flower and herb arrangements left in the kitchen! Would definitely return.

    Brent/Natalie2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and quaint. Great spot, great hosts!

    Amanda2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie made us feel welcome from the very beginning. She was easy to reach in the days leading up to the trip and when we arrived to the cottage, the place was beautiful, the neighborhood was great and there was even a nice chilled bottle of wine waiting for us in the fridge! The cottage itself was a lot nicer than the pictures looked (and the pictures looked great). The electric wood burning stove was awesome and the place was very cozy. The neighborhood was quiet and all the orchards & restaurants we were interested in were extremely close and easy to get to.

    Lou2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage delivers everything as advertised above and beyond.

    Matt2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was an absolutely perfect peaceful retreat from NYC. We loved how quiet and serene it was at all times. There were flowers to greet us and farm-fresh food in the refrigerator - really thoughtful touches! The cottage has everything you need from extra towels to toiletries to coffee. The location is close to restaurants in Redding/Georgetown and we recommend going for a long hike at Devil's Den Preserve and then indulging in the delicious wings at Lumberyard Pub. For a more upscale, romantic dinner try Washington Prime. We look forward to staying here again and again!! I wish we could buy this little place and come every weekend. Thank you so much, Leslie!

New construction! Fully equipped kitchen and all the comforts of home. Quiet country living with a private entrance. Minutes from commuter rail to NYC. Hiking, biking, and cross country skiing. Ideal hotel alternative for wedding and graduation guests or business travelers.
The apartment is separate from our house, over our garage. It is a brand new space that we just renovated including brand new appliances, windows, doors - even the walls and floors! We took care of lots of little details from the cedar-lined entryway to the USB outlets hoping our guests will feel pampered and rejuvenated. When you arrive you will find the kitchen stocked with little treats, cooking spices and other essentials you might want whether you are looking to prepare a meal or just a midnight snack. We invite you to connect to our wi-fi and via the apartment smart TV enjoy any of the almost 300 television shows and over 1000 movies available in our digital collection. If you are really looking to disconnect you will find cards and board games to enjoy.
  • The apartment was nice, clean, and comfortable. Jacquelyn provided us with everything we could have needed. We had a great stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Would definitely stay here again.

    Medina2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed here for 1 week. It was so lovely that I didn't want to leave. The area was beautiful and woodsy. We were welcomed with plenty to eat and drink which was greatly appreciated with being pregnant and always hungry. The kitchen was fully stocked so you can cook whatever your heart desires. There's also a washer and drier which was very convenient. This was hands down the best Air bnb we've ever stayed at. It was like having our own apartment in the middle of the woods with everything you need. Thank you so much Jacquelyn and Brett!

  • Jacqueline was great. Very helpful and knowledgeable. She contacted us before we left home to ask if we preferred red or white wine (unexpected surprise) and kept in touch regularly with times she would be available and directions to help find them. The property was spotless and well equipped, very comfortable and cool with the overhead fan on a very hot night. Near enough to to Brewster train station for a trip into New York. We would love to stay here again.

  • I can't say enough good things about our host Marie and Doug. They were very down to earth, professional and extremely helpful. On our last day we encountered some car trouble, Doug and Maria went above and beyond to assist us. We were truly impressed with how gracious and understanding they were. The cottage was beyond beautiful and containted every thing you could possibly need and think of. We got the best sleep of our lives, thanks to the comfy bed and nature sounds. We will for sure return to this fabulous oasis! Thanks again for having us Maria&Doug.

This beautifully renovated country house is set on 2 acres with a heated pool in the summer, outdoor BBQ, playground & treehouse set back on a quiet, circular road. The house sleeps up to 8 people, has a playroom, movie theatre and is ideal for 2 families traveling with children. Surrounded by bucolic scenery it provides the best blend of country living and fun family activities. If you are looking for a special place, only 1 1/2 hours by car from Manhattan, Redding is the town to visit.
  • This house is perfect for a family or small family gathering. We're familiar with the area and have family near by, so it became central base for a week of cookouts, swimming, and backyard play. The house is a perfect size for 8 people to stay, and with a yard ideal for badminton, croquet, frisbee - you name it - afternoons with friends was easily doable. The pool and grill were perfect outdoor attractions, and the kitchen was great for cooking large meals. The added bonus of a ping pong table and use of bikes and scooters just rounded out a wonderful stay. Redding is a bucolic, CT town, but also has good dining out options and is 20 mins. or closer to Bethel and Danbury for even more choices and shopping - and easy access to NYC if you really need a fix of the City. For us, the house was exactly what we wanted and Gael made it really easy to have a wonderful, memorable stay. We would definitely book this place again.

    David2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very family friendly on a quiet block. Be sure to check out Topstone Park as well as the hiking/mountain biking at Huntington State Park.

    clayton2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Gael's house is comfortable and the most family-friendly Airbnb house we've stayed at so far; baby crib and portable baby bed available for use, corner guards around the ping pong table, pool floaties, gate around the pool, and a projection screen in the basement along with a lovely closet full of children's toys. My toddler son had a ton of fun the entire stay. I really liked the nicely renovated kitchen and en suite bathroom in the master bedroom. The neighborhood is beautiful and tranquil with the majority of the restaurants and shops a 15-min drive away. Pretty secluded but we liked the house so much we didn't want to venture out anyway. Besides, there is a deli and the Spinning Wheel restaurant two miles away if we wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. Nice little touches like a bottle of wine at check in and labels on the kitchen shelves and cabinets to help you find what you need contributed to a wonderful and relaxing stay. Gael is a great host, easy to reach if I had any questions, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his house to anyone.

    Amy2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gaels place was amazing, it was the perfect family getaway.

    Yosef 2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • The home is well maintained and offers everything you would need, particularly if you are traveling with small children (ie toys, childrens books, pool floats/toys, riding toys, swing set, etc). The home is also located on a quiet street, perfect for young bike riders, offering a peaceful escape from the city. Gael was excellent at communicating with us regarding our stay and everything in the house was very organized and/or labeled clearly with instructions so we quickly felt comfortable in his home. We will definitely consider staying here again if we have the opportunity.

    Lisa2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend at Gael's house. We were 3 couples traveling with young kids. Gael communicated really well, was responsive to emails and calls, and helped get us an extra crib for the baby. The house was clean well stocked with plenty of toys. The backyard is spacious with a nice pool and plenty of life jackets, floats etc. It is a great house for a quiet getaway away from the city. The main negative is though it says there is AC there are no units on the main floor which made for an uncomfortable summer evening. Additionally we could not even open the screen door because there were holes and there are A LOT of bugs at night.

    Renee2017-07-24T00:00:00Z

2 Bedroom Country Home Marguerite's Springs offers a place to refresh, a peaceful home of serenity, nature and privacy within a short distance to many amenities. The home sits on 2 acres surrounded by fields and woods. There is a small country church and old county library within walking distance. The home is a short distance to RT 7, RT 6, I84, Danbury Municipal Air Port, Redding train station and the New York State boarder. We are within an hour of NY City.
(Security deposit is not charged, only in place if damages occurs) • Within ONE MILE you will find the West Redding Metro-North Railroad ; trains to and from Grand Central Station NY (direct service 5 times a day, and connecting service throughout day) and travel points along the coast of CT. A pizza, and deli, and post office. • Within TWO to FOUR miles you will find an outstanding farmers market and bakery. The Danbury Fair Mall, Whole Foods, shopping centers, Tarrywile Park for hiking or strolling along your choice of trails. Topstone Park and miles of country beauty. • Within five miles you will find the village of Bethel and the town of Ridgefield both offering many restaurants with entertainment and many shops to visit as you walk along Main St. A refreshing time for couples, business traveler or someone on their own journey. We have an excellent reading area with plenty of books to choose from. In the queen bedroom is a desk if you need to get some work down. The kitchen is a common area. There is a door that can be shut between kitchen and rented areas for plenty of privacy. The kitchen has all the essentials needed and I have plenty of coffee or tea on hand. If you rather be on your own, I give plenty of space and often take my morning coffee up stairs to my home on other side of house separate from rental. It is a very workable kitchen. There is a nice deck outside the back kitchen door with a picnic table and two person patio chair that looks out over the field next door.
We're in the country with a quiet neighborhood and plenty of space between homes, you'll probably not even notice anyone that lives near by. My home boarders pastures on 2 sides, where you can see the cows roaming by once in a while
  • Friendly, clean, easy parking, private, cozy. Even with the shared kitchen no one really cooks during the week so plenty of kitchen time if you want it. Coffee time in the morning allowed for some conversations. Everyone always busy yet it's nice to come home to a clean quiet home! My stay fit my needs perfectly, quiet, comfortable and warm setting with nice furniture. Sandra is friendly and accommodating. Nature setting and close to Danbury Mall and Ridgefield. Very clean has cable internet. I was fortunate to meet Sandra and have the pleasure of staying as long as I did. Will miss the down home feeling I got every time I enter.

  • Sandra has a lovely place and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. Clean, comfortable, roomy and in a peaceful Connecticut setting. Great Host. We have family in the area and will be back.

  • We loved staying at Sandra's house. She was very communicative, thoughtful, and generous. The home is cozy, clean, and set in beautiful scenery. We saw lots of birds and the home is close to walking and hiking. Would highly recommend!

  • As I look at the categories they want me to rate, I want to say it's more than 5 out of 5! What a loving, beautiful, joyful, spacious and comfortable home Sandra has made for her guests. The neighborhood is majestic and her yard, garden, trees and home are all mature and beautifully tended to. She had food waiting for us, spotless EVERYTHING, comfortable beds and a cozy sitting area. It's a special place. We look forward to going back - and we will!

    Alexandra2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra's house was lovely. Both bedrooms are tastefully decorated, have nice amenities & ample closet space. I stayed in the brown room with a TV but the living room also has a large TV & 2 recliners. I came later in the day & Sandra had left chicken & a salad - very thoughtful. She had coffee & milk, breads, eggs & fruit in the kitchen for guests. The whole place was super clean & she made me feel right at home. I would come back to her place again.

    Sherri2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Can't rave enough about finding Sandra's place! She is a very thoughtful and considerate host and her home is lovely and very comfortable as well. Close to everything we were looking for in addition to some new finds. (You will get hooked on the amazing birds that visit her bird feeders and may even see a few deer as well!)

    missy2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great living environment! It's quiet, clean, peaceful and only couple miles away from the downtown Danbury. I enjoyed the "birds' world" out of the window from which you may see the bird that you've never seen before. Sandra is very kind and helpful. She provided me enough privacy, and she would be very enthusiastic when I asked help from her. All in all, I had a nice stay there. I will still choose Sandra's house if I travel there again in the future. Thanks Sandra and Linda!

  • If you're looking a great home for a getaway this is the perfect place. Sandra is a great host to a lovely home. Very sweet. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back.

  • The cottage was perfectly wonderful! There was an excellent amount of space and the setting was excellent. I spent my morning sitting in a rocking chair on the porch listening to the creek and critters; it was so peaceful and relaxing. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a lovely getaway and I'm looking forward to staying again!

  • Donna's little cottage was perfect for me and my wife and our well-behaved friendly dog. It's simple and cozy and very peaceful. Will book again!

    Rebecca2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Donna's husband Michael graciously greeted us immediately upon our arrival and explained all we had to know about the cottage and surrounding area. The cottage and its surroundings are even more delightful than one would expect from the listing. Donna goes out of her way to make one's stay as pleasurable as possible - new queen sized bed in response to a previous visitor's feedback, bottle of wine, many personal items, barbecue. Although we had very little time to take advantage of the peace and solitude of the area, it certainly is there for one to enjoy. I can't recommend this highly enough. Everything about our stay was a plus. Also be sure to go into Redding for dinner !

  • Frank accepted my last minute request for a booking and had great communication. The place is very clean, functional and roomy with the feel of a hotel suite. Arrived too late and left too early to appreciate the outside areas. Very quiet neighborhood so it was a very peaceful night's sleep. All in all a solid place for a stopover.

  • Clean, neat, private two-storey apartment. Quite enjoyable and relaxable. The room is way greater than what shown in posted pictures. Frank is very friendly and helpful. Since I had a long-term staying there, he kept asking if I need the room to be cleaned, the towels to be exchanged, etc. I enjoyed my stay there a lot and hope that I could stay again in the future. Thanks! 谢谢!

  • Really couldn't get over my first experience here , really over the top, pictures do not do justice! Newly renovated , cozy studio apartment. Two floors. Very homey feel to the place ,He even provided local restaurants,grocery/shopping ,wifi signal, things to do , the bedroom is amazing , house layout superb! Wine on the house! Bathroom was great! Kitchen was very big fully loaded , I was cooking something unique that required certain house items so I called Frank and he accommodated. He's very responsive with text or calls and is an all around friendly guy! Made us feel welcomed and gives privacy but doesn't mind giving you time if you need some clarifications on anything. For those who are used to the city or city vibes like I was this might seem a little creepy but take it from me you have good cellphone signal and everything is safe! Hahaha yes I was one of those that thought like that but you get comfortable really quick,I am definitely coming back and I highly recommend this to anyone who has an interest. Big comfy couch, very comfortable bed, good heating system for the entire place , forgot to mention shower has pressure control , provided shampoo and conditioner, Netflix for the room and other channels like showtime etc, like I said highly recommended, thank you Frank for allowing me to tenure in your beautiful home!

  • The host was able to accommodate me at the last minute, and very responsive to my queries. The house is adorable and quaint...has a rural feel but still not far from shops the highway. You could conceivably stay there and use the train as the station is just a 5 min walk. The bedroom itself is small and somewhat rustic, but as you have use of a lovely living area and kitchen it did not seem confining. Overall, highly recommended.

Welcome to our Connecticut country home, where we hope you will have a quiet, calm and entirely satisfying experience. We are influenced by yoga and meditation – Barbara teaches both – and live in an uncluttered, peaceful environment where we hope you will feel entirely at home.

Redding is a small, quiet community with no real business district. There are a number of hiking trails, small farms and unique experiences. Keep your eyes open for some of our shyer friends in the woods. If you are lucky, you may see one or more; deer, pileated woodpecker (those are the big ones), fox, geese, ducks and maybe a turkey or two.

You’ll love our place because of the ambiance and beauty of an 1890 Victorian home. An elegant and comfortable spot for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. You over look a peaceful pond, a yard that beckons a picnic, barbecue or simply relaxing. For bicyclists we are right in the midst of popular Fairfield County routes and we store your bikes in our garage.
This house radiates old Victorian charm with the convenience of modern amenities. It has a compact warm, very stylish kitchen with the most up to date appliances, a cozy living room, a working comfortable office and inviting quiet master bedroom. An elegant compact retreat.
New England grace, within walking distance to a country deli. Easy to reach all of Western Connecticut and 70 miles to Manhattan. A private elementary and preschool is nearby as are old colonials, horse farms and early churches. We have great dining nearby, from take outs to gourmet. We will be delighted to share our favorites.
  • This apartment could not have been more perfect. The hosts were very pleasant and accommodating. The kitchen had everything I needed, the water pressure was fabulous, and the layout was comfortable and felt spacious. The mattress was a perfect side of firmness that led to a perfect night's sleep. Having onsite laundry was quite practical and the hosts provided everything I needed, all I had too do was purchase food. The home is located between Bethel and Newtown and it is easy to find your way to stores and local shops. There is a wonderful park about 10 minutes down the road, Huntington Park, that has a variety of trails and is a great escape to some nature time. This was my first AirBnB experience and it was a great introduction to this service. I would definitely stay here again.

  • This place was exactly what I was looking for, and it could not have been more perfect! I stayed here for 8 nights. I chose this place because I loved the historic Victorian look, and it was in Newtown, my hometown, which I was visiting for my high school reunion. I had to work remotely all week, so I needed a place with a nice office where I could set up my computer and be comfortable for full work days, plus have a full kitchen. I had the whole top floor of the house, with my own private entrance. The entire house has been lovingly restored, and they did a fabulous job...everything is beautiful and all appliances are new and worked perfectly. The kitchen had everything I might need to cook full meals, although I only made breakfasts. The bed is very comfortable...a nice firm mattress. The office was huge with two desks. I had a friend sleep over one night, and the hosts put an extra mattress on the pullout sofa in the living room, which worked great. Kathy and Charlie were delightful hosts! They left it completely up to me as to the amount of contact. I was pretty busy so I didn't see them a whole lot, but they checked in from time to time to make sure I was comfortable. I barely even knew they were downstairs...I felt completely private. I noticed some prior reviews mentioned traffic noise. I never noticed it, and I was there working all day mon thru fri. Yes, Rte 302 is a major street, but traffic during the day was light, and practically nonexistent at night. And it was convenient to be right on a major street with easy access to anywhere I had to go without a lot of back-roads driving. It was nice to be so close to shops and restaurants too. I would stay here again in a heartbeat...and hope to, next time I visit my home town.

  • Our stay was fantastic. If you are in the Newtown Sandy Hook area, I cannot recommend Frank's accommodations high enough. The unit is beautiful. Every creature comfort is available and Frank is a wonderful host. The kitchen is gorgeous. We especially liked all the extra rooms in the apartment. We would stay with Frank again in the second.

    jennifer2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • This home is a wonderful property. It is completely updated and spotless. Everything you could need is available. The location is perfect, very central to surrounding towns and larger shopping in Danbury. The hosts are absolutely great and accomodating. It is a home away from home in all regards.

    natalia2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice accommodations with a full, modernized kitchen. Hosts give you your privacy, yet let you know how to reach them for any needs. Unfortunately the location is alongside a very busy street, so the traffic noise is annoying.

    Elizabeth2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The unit was well equipped and comfortable. There is some traffic noise that guests should be aware of since it is on a busy road, but it is very convenient by car to restaurants and shopping needs. We stayed for two weeks and guests would find it suitable for longer stays like ours.

Our rustic River Houseboat is on the edge of the Pootatuck River on our lower pond.
Our rustic River Houseboat is on the edge of the Pootatuck River on our lower pond. The Houseboat has a comfy queen bed and a screened porch complete with two antique rocking chairs. The River Houseboat is often preferred because it is located close to the main Stone Barn and parking lot. The Stone Barn is open 24 hours and has a hot shower, toilet, and common room with internet and books. Keep in mind that because this cabin is located at the base of the mountain it is not as secluded as the other cabins. The Stone Barn has a grill outside and a full kitchen inside that guests are welcome to use. There is also a fully equipped Rustic Kitchen located up in the woods. PLEASE NOTE -The bathroom is not located in the cabin. Both the bathroom and showers are located a one minute walk away in the Stone Barn -There is a small bonfire pit located near the cabin. Five log bundles are available for $5. -DOGS are not allowed in this cabin -Candles are not allowed in the cabins -We do have wi-fi in the stone barn that reaches this cabin but it can be a little undependable
Though there is lots to do in the towns of Newtown, Monroe, Easton and Fairfield, surrounding Sticks and Stones Farm, most guests prefer to kick back, stay put and enjoy the quiet energy of the farm setting.
  • I stayed in the houseboat for a long weekend, and it was such a fun and relaxing experience. Desre' and Ethan were warm and wonderful hosts, and I loved that the environment allowed you to be as social and secluded as you liked. The property itself is beautiful, with great hiking trails, ponds and the most adorable dwarf goats and chickens you'll ever meet. I was also happy to participate in some of the on-site activities, such as an infrared light massage and monthly drum circle in the barn. A highly recommended visit!

    Jing2014-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Celine and Sam are wonderful hosts and the property is incredible!!! Most of the cabins are secluded but the houseboat is NOT, it's right next to the main building (with flush toilets and a real kitchen) and during the week was pretty loud but depending on what you are looking for it may be fine. The grounds are stunning, rich moss and rocky mountains, a sweet little stream and lots of places to explore. There's an enormous 20ft high rope hammock/loft thing, we spent hours one day just hanging out among the trees. During our stay we also spent a night in the pagoda cabin which we loved, there is a fire pit, it's pretty secluded from other cabins, and it's close to the "rustic kitchen." We came for our 6 year anniversary and we can't wait to come back with our kids! The breakfast add on for $10pp was really nice for some of the days, good coffee, eggs from their own chickens, and they even made my partner gluten free muffins both days!! It's a family farm and Celine and her mom, Sam, just took it over a few months ago. I can't wait to come back next year and see what they've done with the place!!

    Melissa2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • A little piece of paradise just 1h30 from NYC. We had a great peacefull time at Desree's place. There's a special vibe you can feel there and is really relaxing. The houseboat couldn't be cuter. It's cozy and quiet, absolutely perfect for a romantic weekend (just note there's no bathroom in the houseboat, it is in the main house, which is only a few steps away). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet gateway and Desre' it was really great to meet you.

  • Words cannot describe how amazing sticks and stones truly is. The moment that you pull up to the stone barn you feel completely at peace. We stayed in the river house boat at the bottom of the mountain. From it's cute little porch with rocking chairs looking out over the river and seriously the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, it was just what we needed. We were able to cook our dinner over a camp fire but had we not prepared for that we would have been able to use their kitchen which has pretty much everything you could have forgotten you needed. Sam truly made us feel comfortable and answered any questions we had had prior to coming and was just as nice when we got there. I know this review is a little lengthy but please go visit and see for yourself how truly perfect it is.

  • Our stay at the farm on the house boat was awesome! We loved being able to feel secluded but have easy access to the stone barn kitchen and washrooms. Also enjoyed exploring the property and finding it delightful. Celin and her family were very welcoming and we will be sure to visit again, and with lots of friends!

  • Our stay at Todd's place was just perfect! The property is really lovely, and I agree with a previous reviewer - the apartment is even nicer than the photos. Todd went out of his way to make everything clear and to make us feel most welcome. He even put out age appropriate toys for my kids which was certainly above and beyond! Thank you for everything!

  • This was the perfect place for me to have a peaceful stay. Amazing property, pristine apartment and very accommodating and welcoming host. A kitchen full of snacks...( I ate all the homemade granola )... Thanks, Wendy ! Todd, I will return when I am in Connecticut...Thanks for being a very gracious host. Ken

    KENNETH2014-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts, Todd and Wendy, are caring, thoughtful and considerate. They respected our privacy but at the same time, made us feel welcome. They gladly helped us with whatever we needed. While the apartment itself doesn't have much of a common room, I found the full kitchen pretty nice to have. The simple bathroom off the bedroom was roomy - the shower pressure excellent. The best aspect of this place was the large, sunny bedroom with three skylights (to watch lightning storms, if you're lucky) and a wide open view of the pool surrounded by flower gardens and a lawn. The view was exceptional, almost breathtaking. The bedroom itself was so large there was plenty of room to stretch out a yoga mat, exercise and meditate on it all. The nature that surrounds you is the gift. The air is clean. The water is clean. It's less than an hour away from all the traffic congestion and overcrowded restaurants along the I-95 corridor, but you feel like you've traveled deep into the mountains. Come here to meditate. Come here to hike the wide trails in Putnam or Huntington State Park. Come here to take little drives through windy, back roads and discover the many beautiful, graceful and right-sized homes with wonderfully unique architecture and sophisticated gardens. You'll see picturesque woodland ponds and streams and find remnants of pre-Revolutionary War stone foundations scattered about. Be careful while driving, though. One day, I had to slow down for goats that meandered into the road! There's a really nice restaurant (The Spinning Wheel) with an outdoor patio nearby. It occasionally has live music but even when it doesn't, the beer is cold, the wine is fine, the food is excellent and the service is attentive. If you have time, Bethel and Ridgefield, nearby towns, are really worth getting to know, too. This. airBnb listing is an extremely nice, relaxing retreat. Thanks Todd and Wendy for making us feel so welcome!

  • Everything about this trip was 5 stars. I have stayed in 5 star hotels that were not as nice. Communication was excellent and Todd and Wendy were more than Gracious hosts. We came 2 hours early and were welcomed with a friendly smile and our names on the door of the apt. The apt was exceptionally clean and there was only one thing we forgot..Milk for my coffee. Wendy called Todd and Todd brought home the milk. The apt contained everything we needed and more. The was nothing missing. Every spice ,every utensil, everything right at our fingertips. The view from the inside of the Apt was spectacular. The view from outside was just unbelievable. A beautiful pool with a gorgeous garden all around. A BBQ Grill clean and ready to use. Modern appliances inc New Stove Refridge with ice maker and cold water. A comfortable bed ,couch and recliner. Air conditioning and ceiling fans. Sky lights and spectacular views. Lounging outside by the pool with no sounds other than birds. Perfectly quiet. Cable TV was excellent also. It is off the beaten path but anything you need is not more than 15 min away. There were many things we wanted to do in the area but decided to just stay right where we were and enjoy all the amenities offered here. And lets not forget the fresh baked brownie cake Wendy made for us and it was delicious. I could not have picked a nicer place to stay. Thank You both Todd and Wendy for making our stay above and beyond expectations. There is no doubt in my mind I will use AIRB&B before looking at hotels because of this experience

    Arthur2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This booking was for my parents. My Dad is mostly wheelchair bound, so we needed a place that was more accessible and didn't require negotiating a lot of stairs. Todd was a great host and allowed us to check out the accommodations ahead of time. The place was clean and comfortable and Todd was timely with his responses to any questions. All in all, would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area!

    KevinandMelanie2016-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • A Gem! Space was actually better than advertised and appeared online. Full kitchen and sitting area plus a light-washed bedroom looking out on pool, deck and gorgeously landscaped back yard. Tom & Wendy were perfect hosts, anticipating our needs, staying in touch and providing breakfast foods, snacks, juice and coffee which weren't expected either. Area is beautiful and fun is abundant just driving to the location. Very ample parking, quiet and well worth the nightly tariff. Nice restaurants nearby too.

Relax in the privacy of your own suite in this charming 1750 farmhouse in the Georgetown section of Wilton, CT. Home on gorgeous, private lot where you can have a bonfire, relax on the lounge chairs, play a game of cornhole, or take a nap in the hammock on the wrap-around porch. Feeling adventurous? Neighbors offer horseback riding for an additional fee. Georgetown's "restaurant row" is just down the road and shopping and train nearby as well. A wonderful getaway!
Enjoy the sounds of bullfrogs croaking, wind rustling the leaves on the trees and the distant sound of the train whistle as you fall asleep. Perfectly relaxing environment. Or we can do a pub crawl if you're in the mood too. Lots of choices! The suite has one bedroom with a Queen bed and second room has a brand new full-sized pullout sofa.
The home feels secluded and yet it's close to restaurants, shops, train and main road. One minute away from Georgetown village where 4 towns come together: Weston, Redding, Wilton and Ridgefield. Our town also abuts Westport, New Canaan, Norwalk and South Salem NY
  • Karena was a very gracious host, the property was beautiful, we wish that we had more time there to use the yard. If you are looking in the area it is perfect for a romantic weekend. Strongly recommend

  • Anne and Tim are truly amazing hosts and people. My boyfriend and I felt very comfortable at their home. Tim and Anne are very thoughtful, honest, and kind individuals who made our trip a great one. Of course the quaint town of Monro, beautiful cottage on the lake and amazing greenery helped! Definitely plan on visiting again and would 100% recommend!

    Gabriella2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Anne's place was the perfect city getaway located on a secluded plot of land in the woods. The cottage was adorable and comfortable with a nice outdoor porch. There were even some snacks and breakfast essentials. Very relaxing and the perfect amount of nature. I would highly recommend a stay here, we will definitely return! Also, close beaches!

  • If you are looking for a place to truly feel at one with nature but still be close enough to civilization, this is the spot to be. We heard no sounds except those of the forest and pond around us. It is a beautiful property and Anne and Tim were gracious, flexible hosts. The home is very cute and quaint, everything was very clean. We loved waking up and spending time on the front desk while it rained. We would love to return for a weekend.

Ridgefield 10 min drive Greenwich 30 min drive N.Y.C. 75 min drive Five mins to Main St downtown Danbury, as well as Danbury Fair Mall Ten mins NY state border, i84, i684, and metro-north NYC commuter train. Roughly 1 hr to grand central.
We are on a Main Street five min walk into historic down town Bethel with the Sycamore drive up that has been around since the 50s and the decor will prove that. All the feel of a small town with small shops and restaurants up and down Main Street. Only a three min walk is Parlowa park with a baseball diamond, soccer, basketball court, swings, and of course playscapes for the little tots with slides, swings and all the other bells and whistles. It even just nice and relaxing to sit on the front porch and watch the cars and people go by.
  • Very nice place and very nice hosts

  • Once again, a wonderful experience. What great hosts, and so accomodating, even with my last minute requests. I will stay here whenever I need to stay in Bethel. And by the way, Bethel is such a cute town. Many good places to eat. The house is close to everything, including the awesome Bethel Cinema. Less than a 3 minute drive to the metro-north railroad station.

  • Absolutely fantastic! I will always make this my first choice when I need to stay in the area. I was made to feel right at home from the moment I arrived. Susan and Miles are gracious hosts who are extremely welcoming. They have done a wonderful job in decorating and furnishing the guest room. I felt pampered and slept great. Thank you both for a great stay!

  • My husband and I stayed with Susan and Miles for one week, and we were completely satisfied with our stay! Miles was very responsive to our messages, and he was always sure to check in on us and see if we needed anything. The house was easy to locate, the space was immaculately clean, and the bed was very comfortable. If you're looking for a place to stay in the area, I HIGHLY recommend this place.

    Jessie2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Miles and Suzy are a very friendly couple with a charming house. Every morning there was coffee waiting for us and they were very helpful with the local eats and transport. The rooms were very tidy and Miles stayed in contact with any information we may have needed to know. Their dogs are very nice but were never in the way. We will definitely be staying here again when we are in the area.

    Rebecca2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Susan and Miles for 2 nights in July 2017. They were super nice (shared cherry with us), very flexible (we arrived very late) and very-very friendly. The place is cozy, has a little private living room with TV/wifi, the bathroom is clean and very nice with the small tiles on the ceiling. The room has plenty of closet storage space (if anybody needs it) and the bed and the bedding are really awesome! Bedding definitely felt like hotel quality! If you like to enjoy your coffee (provided) while sitting on the porch and just watch the trees, street, etc. you can do that too! Miles went out his way by offering his help when we got a flat tire 10-15 miles away from their home. Definitely, recommend their place to anyone who is traveling across CT or wants to spend more time there.

  • PROS House and pool were very nice and as described, beautiful gardens! Plenty of seating, and there were lots of towels and linens which was very appropriate given the number of people they stated the house would accommodate.   CONS I will note that Durelle was much more kind and considerate and seemed willing to have guests. My comments are for the other host who clearly didn’t want to have people in his guest house, and truly ruined my weekend with friends and family.    I have rented over a dozen times and love using AirBnB. I have never had to write a negative review, but given the horrible experience, I felt it only fair to do so. I do not recommend this host or home to anyone.  ---- Unwarranted and inappropriate communication and contact with myself and my guests: The hosts toured me around the property and gave me instructions prior to my guests arriving, all of which I followed closely.  During the tour, I was told the hosts would be gone for the day and night, and would be available for questions if we had any. Their home was separate from the guest house.  Yet during the stay, he contacted us unnecessarily multiple times via text and by showing up unannounced in person. His continued looming, overbearing, and disrespectful presence prevented me and my guests from enjoying themselves.   Specifically, the host showed up multiple times throughout the day and night, completely unannounced and unprovoked into the guest house WHILE my guests and I were trying to enjoy our evening. He kept trying to "check in" like some kind of chaperone in front of my guests. He clearly was petrified that anyone was staying in his home, and never should have rented it out.  He sent me unnecessary and demeaning texts throughout the entirety of the event when we were behaving very responsibly and were not causing any noise or other disturbance, including a random text asking that my guests don’t “trash his house”.  We were literally playing board games.   We are dog people, and I informed the couple this before the event. However, I informed them that we have one guest who is very scared of dogs. They said they would only run the dogs from 6-8AM daily. Around 10PM on Saturday evening, after he had contacted me unnecessarily via text and in person, the very large dogs walked onto our patio, by the grills, amidst our guests.     After assuring him we were fine and that we were following all the rules of the house, he walked to the back of the house and opened the door unannounced, walked into the party and told me to "Just chill!" with a serious attitude in front of all my guests. It was completely insulting. My guests were equally appalled. He and his wife came by the house on various other occasions, including to water the plants that I offered to water- an offer he had accepted....

Two adjoining private rooms in antique farmhouse. Double bed with new deluxe mattress. Library can accommodate an additional guest on an air mattress. Private bath with tub/shower. Down the street are great restaurants and all amenities.
This historic home was built in 1771 before the American Revolution. The house has been lovingly restored with original character and details preserved. Owned by two documentary filmmakers, the rooms are decorated with eclectic art they have collected in their travels. You will be staying in two adjoining rooms - one a former parlor and the other a library filled with art books and cook books. The rooms can be separated by a pocket door and an air mattress can be provided for an extra guest. A private bathroom off the kitchen is just one step from the library and includes a tub / shower. Towels and bed linens are included.
The house is in Georgetown, a hamlet encompassing parts of Weston, Redding, Wilton and Ridgefield. Several terrific new restaurants including farm-to-table, Mexican, pub, and Italian are located right in Georgetown. A great grocery store (Caraluzzi's), several banks, gas, post office, Metro North train, etc are all right in the neighborhood.
  • Staying in Georgetown with Amy & Alex is a treat. They invite you in and make you feel very much at home. The house is a character of itself, and you can expect to find inspiring art all around during your stay. You'll have a bedroom and a study dedicated to you, with free access to the rest of the ground floor and a private entrance to the 3 acre garden. Georgetown itself is a quiet CT town, but well catered for and well connected. In the local area there are some good restaurants (I recommend Arianca which has just opened on Main St and the Wire Mill BBQ). If you're into the outdoors then the Devils Den reserve is very nearby. If you're lucky enough to be there over a holiday then Alex' cooking is a treat. They are a fascinating couple who after a stay of two brief weeks I consider friends.

  • Amy and Alex were super friendly hosts, and were most accommodating during a two week stay on business in the area. The January weather was ferocious, but they kept a cozy fire going at all hours to make coming back from a long work day a treat!

    Ian2015-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a wonderful weekend staying with Amy and Alex. Their house is charming and lovely, and a tour through their garden made me "green" with garden envy. They have two sweet, friendly dogs and two gorgeous, affectionate cats, so this place is awesome for animal lovers. (And even for those with slight allergies.. they're very careful to keep the animals out of the rental space) Amy and Alex were kind enough to provide a delicious breakfast both mornings - one day we had an omelet with veggies fresh from their garden, what a treat! Can't say enough good things about this place. :) Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Nearby restaurant rec: Bailey's Backyard - farm to table deliciousness.
