Just booked in Pittsfield

The Sunhouse is a charming, one room cabin with panoramic mountain views, a full size bed, wood stove, hammock, infrared heater, and fridge. The coffee and water are provided, as well as bedding, towels and firewood. The bathroom facilities are just a short walk away at the main farmhouse.
The Sunhouse is a beautiful one-room cabin, with wood stove, full sized bed, refrigerator and hammock. In addition to the wood stove there is also an infrared heater which keeps the chill off while you explore away from the cabin during the day and will be on prior to your arrival to warm it up. For the warmer season there is a ceiling fan, but no air conditioning. Bathroom and both indoor and outdoor showers are available at the nearby farmhouse. Guests are welcome to use our free firewood. The cabin has a k cup coffee maker complete with coffee and water. Bedding and towels are also provided for our guests. While there is no kitchen in the sun house dishes and other necessities can be provided for extended stays. Many of our guests bring a camp stove with them or enjoy the local restaurants. There is a wash sink available in the farmhouse for dishes, and we can provide laundry service for travelers. Just let us know what you will need and we will be happy to help. Of our three cabins, The Sunhouse is the closest to the farmhouse. It's also within eyeshot of but not next door to "Blue with a View" which is a similar cabin listed on Airbnb as well making our space allow for couples vacationing together to have private accommodations. So, check out that listing if the sunhouse is unavailable or you need more space. The sunhouse is not far from the farmhouse where the facilities are located, but in the winter we do have a lot of snow and ice so be sure to bring appropriate footwear.
We are seven miles to Belfast with many options for dining and entertainment. The Brooks village offers necessities like Ralphs Cafe, Wentworth Family Grocery convenience store and gas, and the Marsh River Coop for local products.
  • The host was fantastic and very friendly, Elen makes you feel welcomed and comfortable.

  • We had a great stay at the Sunhouse, very nice, quiet & cosy!

  • Ellen and her husband were very attentive and excellent hosts. They asked for an estimated time of arrival in order to have the cabin nice and warm for when I arrived (they had one wood stove and two infrared heating units). The cabin and the views from it are AWESOME. I highly recommend this place, and will be my first option from now on when in the area. Also, they have two beautiful and playful dogs which I enjoyed playing with them while in my short stay.

  • This is a very special spot in which we were made to feel extremely welcome. It's even more lovely than the already-lovely pictures can capture, we were made to feel incredibly welcome by Elen who very sweetly left us detailed directions and everything that was necessary for a wonderful night's sleep and fully outfitted picnic. We are already hoping to come back!

  • This is perfect place if you want a get- away, especially from a city life. The property location is excellent and the cabin is beautiful, just a note that bathroom and shower are a small distance away from the cabin, other wise it's a perfect location especially for couples! Elen and Rick were always available via text message and replayed promptly, had a trouble free time, would recommend there place for all travellers.

    Kaiwalya2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Quite and decent place.

    NNavya2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Elen and Rick's place was superb. Very happy with our stay, it couldn't have been any better. Thank you!

    Nick2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Elen and Rick's Sunhouse was absolutely incredible! My boyfriend and I brought our dog and she had an absolute blast. It is the perfect, relaxing getaway we needed from the city work life. It was clean and they had the place warmed up for us when we arrived. It was a super quick drive into Belfast to go out to eat (had lobster for the first time) but we brought a camping stove which added to the amazing experience! Rick brought over some fresh duck eggs for us, which were incredible. We're already planning our next trip - can't wait to come back!

  • Brittany's cabin is pure magic! Beautiful space, huge and accommodating for many guests, enormous front yard with fire pit, and a quick walk down to a nice scenic lake complete with kayaks and canoes. We came up here for a retreat with my wedding party and were overjoyed at the space. We had a wonderful time and are already planning on coming back next year. Thanks Brittany!

  • There was a group of 12 of us and we had a spectacular time! There was plenty of space for sleeping and hanging out. The house is beautiful, rustic, and well-kept. We had an issue with the water pump and Brittany et al. were very responsive and helped us solve the issue quickly. We would love to come back! -Alston

  • Wonderful cabin for larger groups. Full kitchen and large open space to gather (or dance like we did). Nice lawn for kids or dogs to play and a minutes walk to the lake front. Had a blast and may be back again next year.

    Jeremy2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing ! It is family friendly but could also support large groupe without any problem (we were a group of 12 adults). Every thing is here to cook (salt, pepper, oil...). The place was clean, the communication with the host was fast and efficient, kayaking on the lake was fun, and BBQ a pleasure ! Thanks for everything !

    Joris & Marine2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Brittanys cabin. It's easy to get to and lots and lots of space. There were 4 of us and it easily sleeps 10, but with the caveat that you are sharing one bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and the beds were comfortable and everything was clean and ready when we arrived. The lake is nearby and while we didn't use the kayaks, it was nice to have that option. We did sit on their little beach in the afternoon and that was lovely. We went to the Common Ground Fair during the day which was about 50 minutes for the house. It was a bit far, but the drive is all back roads so it was nice. Communications were handled well and Brittany checked in with us to see how everything was. A nice touch... all in all a very nice visit!

    Jamie2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house surrounded by a beautiful environment. Great house for a big group. Brittany was incredibly attentive and responsive. Cannot stress enough how great of a value the cabin is. If you are looking for a secluded getaway with access to a lake, this is the place for you.

  • Denise's place is great !! Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, the cabin is the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to Colby College and live a real "Maine experience" ..! Perfect for families : my daughter, two years old, loved it :-)

    Guido2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Bear Cabin just for one night. We went to the Common Ground Fair (only 30 mins away) the next day. Very convenient. Denise was great. Plenty of clear instruction to find the cabin. The cabin is cute, small and very remote. If you're looking for privacy , this is your place. We had a nice visit.

    Kyle2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice cabin!

    Molly2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nice secluded cabin at a reasonable rate. Close to state parks and some good hikes. Be aware that there is no stove, but if you're staying for a short period of time it won't be an issue, as there is a fire pit to cook over. Clean bathroom and nice hot shower. TV with Dish network. Comfy couch as well! Denise was very communicative/hospitable and even went out of her way to send us my wife's earrings that she accidentally left at the cabin! We felt very welcomed and comfortable. The cabin is also dog friendly and secluded enough that we felt comfortable with our dog off his leash for the entirety of our stay! Would recommend this listing for those looking for a nice getaway.

  • We spent a few days here and found the place absolutely amazing. Jeffery and Delight were great hosts, they made themselves available for us if we had questions or needed help, although we didn't end up needing much of anything. Everything was in great shape, very clean; the place was private and quiet and we had a great time.

    John2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Delight's cabin is a great place to stay! It's out in the woods and secluded from traffic noises. We found it to be rustic enough for my husband but with conveniences I look for. Everything is provided, Delight was very attentive to our needs, and the location is within an hour of the coast so there are places to go see, if you want to. Lobster, Lobster, Lobster. Need I say more? I would recommend this rental to anyone looking to get away from it all for relaxing getaway.

  • Not enough great things to say! The pictures don't do the house justice - this place is amazing and extremely comfy! Ten of us came here for a New Years weekend away, and it was the perfect spot to have our own private festivities removed from the typical New Year craziness. Even though it was negative temperatures the whole time, the entire house had EVERYTHIG, I mean EVERYTHING, WAY more than any other airbnb I've stayed in - that would could need! Gena was SO helpful and friendly. In fact, the first time we stayed, we all arrived after dark and it was hard to tell which garage was ours to use. The neighbor came over and was incredibly angry and not at all understanding that we were just confused, but Gena was SO kind about it. She was really understanding and not at all angry with us. (We obviously moved our car immediately). Long and short of it - I've never stayed in a better Airbnb.

  • The home is amazing to say the least. Plenty of room for the entire group. The house has everything you would ever need. Truly home away from home. The host was extremely responsive to our every need. Our trip was in the middle of winter 2018 and needles to say the weather was what one would expect that time of year in Maine. It was a pleasant surprise how well they kept up with the ice and snow. Thanks Gena for the great time we had at your incredible house. Ed, Tammy and crew

    Ed2018-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Gena's place its AMAZING ! Every corner of her house is decorated to make you feel at home. The rooms in the house have breath taking views of the lake and the surrounding . We stayed in winter and the sunsets were beautiful with the lake covered in snow, and the purple skies. This place is perfect for families and large groups. They have a well equipped kitchen, tvs, board games, and an outdoor hot tub. The house is located in a quiet street, facing the lake and within driving distance of many small towns. our favorite was Bangor ME, we found nice restaurants, breweries, and a hipster atmosphere Gena made our stay really pleasant, and answered within minutes to our multiple inquiries during the stay. I highly recommend the lake house, and I can wait to come back in summer

  • This cottage was a great find! Lovely house, very clean and accommodating. Bunk house is very well kept and sleeps plenty of people. The lake is warm in July and the kayaks/boats are great fun, especially at sunrise. Highly recommend!

    Wooseok2014-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • My family's week at the cottage in August was better than I could have imagined. We took a day trip to Acadia one day, went into town for groceries one day, but spent the rest of the time in and on the water, in the yard, on the deck, cooking, grilling, baking, relaxing... We saw loons every day, a bald eagle several times, a weasel skirting the shore. My husband and I each took a paddle in the kayak nearly every day for some extra quiet alone time and exercise. The lake was so inviting and there are other islands to explore. Being there midweek it was quiet, but the few neighbors we saw were friendly and we pretty much kept to ourselves. My 3.5 and 5 year old city kids made videos called "I like Maine because..." "I like Maine because you can rent a house, on this island, and there's a lake and you can go swimming two times every day. And this house, where we're staying, it has a trampoline floatie and a dock, and noodles so you can practice floating. And there's a paddle boat so you can go in deep parts without floaties." Thank you Elaine, for sharing you little piece of paradise. We're dreaming of a return trip next year. We fell in love with Birch Island.

    AJ2013-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine's cottage was one of the best airbnbs I've stayed at. It was clean, spacious, and pretty. I really loved the paddle boat and campfire. We had a lot of fun staying there. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    Yisheng2016-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful home to find ourselves at! We were so thrilled and would recommend it to anybody... especially those who like to play boardgames. :)

  • This was a great place to stay! Very clean and tidy! She responded quickly to any questions or concerns we had. She is an excellent host with a great place to stay I would recommend this place to family, friends and strangers!!

  • Great vacation, the lake is beautiful. The cabin very clean, bright, and all the amenities needed for a great vacation! The only problem if you have a large group is working around the bathroom in the bedroom, but we had 3 adults and 5 teenagers and this did all work out. Would definitely go back!

  • My room was nicely done with stylish decorations and had everything you could think of needing. It is a new Airbnb but is very well done. Kitchen has cabinets labeled so you can find things and there is a store next door if you forgot anything. I was there over Christmas weekend and was surprised with some seasonal treats too. We had snow, ice and more snow and the parking lot was plowed quickly each time. Amy & Jeremy are quick to respond to any questions and it's nice knowing they are not far away. Please note that there is a shared bathroom. While it worked out for me, it may not for others. I loved their place and will consider going back again!

  • Cabin was lovely, charming, light filled and spotlessly clean. Had everything one would need. Jon was very nice and I enjoyed speaking with him about out shared history of the area...Belfast, Knox, Freedom, Thorndike. I lived in the area for many years so it was fun to discover mutual acquaintances and the changes over time. Would love to return for another stay.

    Judith2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you want an exceptional place to stay! Jon and Martha are the best hosts! The cabin was beyond perfect and clean. Everything we needed was provided...even an extra comforter for a chilly evening in Maine. Jon provided a detailed list of areas for touring the state. We shared a peaceful dinner with Jon and Martha and found them to be interesting Maine residents to talk with. We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful / quiet location where you can have coffee on the front deck and enjoy the occasional flutter of a hummingbird.

    Cindy2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about this pristine cabin and it's most gracious hosts. Will stay again!

    Teresa2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! Beautiful cabin.

    Caroline2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • My roommate and I decided on a whim to take a trip to Maine. Most places were either booked up or didn't look that great. So we ended up with Jon and Martha. We could not be happier. The place was spotless. He had a list of great restaurants in the surrounding areas. The beds were very comfortable. The small deck was perfect for the two of us to sit and enjoy our coffee in the morning and stargaze through the trees at night. Their hospitality exceeded my expectations. There were snacks and beverages and dishes and towels. We left in the morning having used what we needed, and when we returned at night everything was replenished. It might not be right in town, but I'd stay here again without a second thought.

    Jake2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jon & Martha were absolutely wonderful, as was their adorable cabin! It was exactly the simple getaway we were looking for. They made some great suggestions on places to check out. The cabin is very clean & cozy with comfy beds & a nice bathroom (with luxuriously hot showers!). They even have wooded hiking trails on their property. The location worked quite well, too, being fairly close to both the coast & Colby College. I highly recommend this cabin if you're looking for an escape!

    Kate2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jon & Martha greeted us upon our arrival and were very welcoming and personable. They even took the time and obliged our request to explain how the little cottage in the woods came to be. It is a beautiful and meticulously clean "home away from home"!! Nice, well thought out details were included during construction. The beds were super comfy, and the extra down comforters provided (along with a heater!), kept us sleeping in comfort the night the temps dipped below 50. My HS aged daughter was ready to move in for the duration - she is enamored with "little homes". Our hosts were great with suggestions on places to eat and things to do. We were up there for a college visit and it was very convenient to get to Unity College. Location is rural and in a wooded quiet area but still very close to "downtown" Unity and a very easy drive to either Belfast on the coast or Waterville. We will most definitely be back to stay!!

    Emily2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jon and Martha were so welcoming! Their cozy cabin was perfect for our weekend away in Maine. It was super easy to head into Belfast for dinner and a walk by the water. All of their recommendations for food and hiking in acadia national park were great! I only wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Rural Maine is a challenging area to find lodging. Having grown up in this area it is a relief to find somewhere close to everything. Julie and Larry offer a welcoming warm cabin surrounded by fields and apple trees. The porch offers serenity while watching the stars, as only they can be seen in Maine. The gorgeous drive along the Kennebec River is an added bonus.

    Danielle2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Julie was absolutely wonderful. Her central location was perfect for exploration through Maine and the cabin itself was beyond all expectations. I highly recommend a visit to anyone passing by and make sure to spend some time star gazing, it's spectacular!

    Isabelle2015-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the cabin. It's quaint and in our opinion much more comfortable than the pictures made it out to be. Julie was very helpful and responded to messages within minutes throughout the weekend. The general area is also quite lovely! We would be happy to make it back.

  • The perfect place for us! A quiet retreat when we were in town for a reunion, and Skowhegan has a real treasure in The Lakewood Theater. Great place if you are in the area.

Quiet, spot on Etna pond, about one hour+ away from Acadia National park. Nice pond for canoeing and fishing. located about 20 minuets west of Bangor. Very isolated from other camps as it is one of two camps located on a private 83 acre property. Lots of wildlife and for viewing, deer, eagles, loons, etc.
  • Robert and Brenda were wonderful hosts and thought of every detail to ensure our stay in their beautiful lake house was comfortable. We felt so welcome and really hope to stay again! The lake is gorgeous and our grandchildren enjoyed swimming and kayaking right outside the front door! We had absolutely everything we could have possibly needed. This was our first airbnb experience and the "bar is certainly very high" for us now. Thank-you!

    Cheryl2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay was great! The cabin is wonderful and the hosts could not be more helpful. We loved it!

    Sandra2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts Robert and Brenda surprised us with an amount of hospitality far beyond expectations. The wooden house was comfortable and spacious for our little family. The "private lake" was only a few steps from the porch away, we could swim, use the canoo or the paddleboat, and fish ... it was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. We could observe a bald eagle (which was amazing!), some loons and all kinds of birds (even a hummingbird!). From Etna it is only a 1,5h drive to Bar Harbor, where we went hiking in the Acadia National Park and attended a whale watching tour. It was an unforgettable stay in Etna! Thank you Robert and Brenda!

  • Quite possibly two of the kindest people I have ever met. Very hospitable for any needs you may have. Their house was located on the property and were as interactive or private as you preferred. Everything was exactly as described. One of the most peaceful weeks I have experienced. I highly recommend!!

    Pamela2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place was an awesome getaway. Robert was so kind and his family was great. We had complete privacy with access to the host just next door. The loons at night were fun to listen to and the board games and puzzles provided were a hit. A For a family that uses wifi and tech stuff constantly it ended up being a complete delight to be shut off for a week. Also the peddle boat and canoe were instant fun, highly recommended for families and couples of all ages We are definitely coming back.

Come stay here for the close convenience to Unity College, the Common Ground Fair, the Lost Kitchen, and Maine Central Institute. This area is also uniquely located to make for an easy drive to Bangor, Waterville, Belfast, and Augusta, all 20-45 minutes away. Some guests have stayed here before going on to Acadia National Park and also on their way to or from Canada.
My home is a passive-solar saltbox design that I built in the '80's. It is near the shore of Unity Pond. You can walk over to the shorefront to enjoy the lake and possibly see eagles, ospreys, loons, or herons...maybe even the kingfisher that likes to sit at the top of my sailboat's mast...
My home is in a rural setting. My property borders Unity Pond on one side, and a very large field, (formerly Lakeview Golf Course) The feel is very private. The center of Unity is 5 minutes away where you will find some dining options, a well-stocked grocery store, gas/convenience/Subway/Dunkin Donuts, and a very nice cafe- 93 Main Street.
  • We had a great stay at Jim's house! It was nice and quiet and a clean, beautiful home. Jim left us all of the information we needed and was very nice when we met him. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much!

    Allison2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most beautiful and calming spaces a I have had the pleasure to visit. All of the amenities that you could ever need, and then some. Jim was a gracious host and very communicative. His artwork alone is worth the trip....but add in the serene landscape, gorgeous lakefrontage and cozy living spaces and this becomes truly a gem.

    Suzanne2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jim has a lovely home looking at Unity Pond. Clean, tidy and inviting. We'll go back and we will tell our friends they should check it out.

    William2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's house was absolutely lovely and equipped with everything that we needed. He was very responsive and went above and beyond by leaving us food so we could make ourselves breakfast. Jasmine the cat was really sweet (easygoing, very affectionate and stayed in the living room as we slept). She, along with waking up to the beautiful sounds of nature, was an added bonus to our stay! We also had a fun time writing on the antique type writer! Thanks, Jim!

    Elise2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great, just like last year! Loved staying here. Thanks Jim!

    Allison Krzanowski2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The house surroundings are idyllic, it's very secluded and just what we needed for our getaway from busy NYC. To get to the lake, you have to walk through the neighbor's lawn, but the view is beautiful. As for the house, be aware that the bedroom doesn't have a door. We did have the downstairs to ourselves but it still didn't feel comfortable without a bedroom door. Jim was very helpful with the directions and very fast to respond.

    Alyona2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jim is a calm, kind and passionate individual. He's a true artist in every sense of the word. I had a wonderfully inspiring stay at his peaceful little home. Aside from being a master craftsman, Jim is a very talented guitar player. I'm so happy that we had a chance to sit down and play music together. If you're a traveling musician or any sort of creative individual, you must stay here and meet this guy! I'm thrilled to say that this was my first Air BnB experience and certainly not my last - I will be back!

We were there for only a brief time but she was helpful and communicated well. I would suggest that guests should be sure to read the information about the showering and toilet system. • We come from Boston for a week end in Maine and had an amazing experience at Many Hands Farm. From tasty breakfast to chill mood and great sightseing advices, this place is simply perfect if you are looking for a nice place to stay as long as a great sharing experience. Also, John's woodworking is simply wicked!

    Maxime2014-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful place to stay- the cabin was cozy and very clean. The farm it was located on was charming, and John was a very helpful and welcoming host! We were a little bit concerned on the drive there because of how far off the main roads it was, but it was worth the drive out of our way for such a nice place to spend the night!

    Grace2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic homestead setting. Food was fantastic, and the room was very nice. Outdoor Shower (concealed) and compost toilet took a minute to get used to, but I had a good time.

    Weston2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nyla and her family welcomed us onto their farm with warmth and consideration. They have a beautiful place, thoughtfully constructed in every sense, and it was a true pleasure to be there and talk with them over the delicious breakfast they made for us. I would've loved to stay longer. They have a view of the stars that will take your breath away on a clear night. And seeing their garden first thing in the morning was like a dream. If we make our way through Maine again, I know where I'll look first.

  • Staying at the farm was a wonderful experience! I enjoyed the cabin, the grounds (farm), the hosts and their delicious food creations while my daughter was particularly keen on the animals and Nyla and John's three darling children. An outdoor shower in the summertime is a treat, as was being offline for a couple of days. Great roads around Thorndike for cycling! Nyla made me a salve for my poison ivy - thanks Nyla! It's great to see people / families living with less technology. An inspirational visit!

    david2014-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • I can't overstate how incredible our stay at Many Hands Farm was. It is a beautiful slice of the world, and we felt honored to be welcomed into the fold of Nyla and her family's life while there. From the fresh flowers placed throughout the cabin to the amazing (amazing!) meals prepared by John throughout the stay, we were totally smitten by the experience. It probably sounds hyperbolic, but this place is truly enchanting and made for an unforgettable couple of days.

Our farm is located just 20 miles from the coastal town of Belfast, with beaches, galleries, restaurants, amazing shops, museums, festivals, and the relaxed pace and friendly spirit that is home to this sweet little city. Other places of interest for day-tripping are as follows: Acadia National Park ( under two hours away) Bowdoin and Bates colleges ( a little over an hour to both) Colby college (half hour away) Unity College (10 minutes away) MOFGA in Unity (Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association) home of the CommonGround Organic Agricultural Fair. Which is the third week in September and only 10 minutes away. Boothbay Harbor (one and half hour away) Portland (one and a half hour away) Midcoast Region...Camden, Rockport, Rockland (forty-five minutes away) Our community of Thorndike is rural...with so many farms and beautiful open space. The stars are incredible here! There is a surprising diversity of food, entertainment, culture, educational opportunities, and even shops. Thorndike is a surprising little gem of a town. There are many young farming families settling here and even an Amish community. The back roads offer walks with beautiful vistas, quiet seclusion and even some fairly steep roads that feel like hikes. A very sweet, and eclectic little shop filled with art, books, household essentials, and amazing homemade pastries which include gluten free, natural food, music, fabrics, and old-fashion style letterpress designs. There is a train station right in the town where you may take relaxing and beautiful trips peddling on railcycles (by reservation through the shop Garden Variety). The Belfast Moosehead Lake Railroad is a revived train which offers trips on Saturdays and Sundays from Belfast to Waldo departing Belfast 11 am and then at 2 pm.
  • Great place to stay, and their goats are super cute

  • Many Hands Farm is a beautiful place to wake up! The tent platform is under an apple tree with plenty of room for a three person tent and a couple of camp chairs. Don't miss the opportunity to use the outdoor shower - the temperature is perfect and you can watch the chickens and goats while rinsing. You will have a hard time leaving - it's a wonderful place to be : ) Nyla and her partner are great hosts and will help you with anything you need.

    Christina2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here one night as a stopover point in a journey around northern New England. Lovely and quiet spot to rest my head while in the area. I booked this very last minute, and Nyla and her family proved to be great hosts. My only confusion was some of the previous reviews -- Nyla has had guests also stay in some cabins previously on the farm, but decided to scale back this summer. I was the only guest there, which was great, but just wanted to clear that up since I wasn't sure what to expect! The outdoor shower/tent platform/outhouse are all exactly as advertised. If I had been in the area, I definitely would have used the space as a jump-off point for the nearby beaches, hiking, and even Acadia. No complaints here!

    Melissa2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nyla's place was exactly as described. What a wonderful place, peaceful, tranquil. Thank you Nyla!

  • Even though we arrived late and near dark we were greeted warmly by our hosts. They made every effort to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Pleasant conversationalists. Farm was wonderful to explore. Children adorable. Breakfast scrumptious. Thank you!

  • Beautiful spot; great people.

    Christopher2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful location, and a beautiful way of living; very simple. A unique experience for me. Would recommend definitely. BUT. It's very far away from anything, so I would only recommend coming by car!

    Alexandra2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • I found my tent camping experience at Many Hands Farm to be just what I needed. As a travel nurse on a budget, I needed something that was low cost and close to my assignment. This organic farm is unique and well-run. Nyla and John are accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable. The whole family is nice. I really like the food and atmosphere. Additionally, the outdoor shower is pretty cool. The animals are neat too.

Experience a true Maine camp. Rustic, located within feet of the water. Boating, kayaking, swimming, and fishing everything one seeks in a summer vacation. Located on lake Winnecook. Peaceful, quiet and beautiful sunsets, will delight any traveler. Camp life with many of the conveniences of home.
    Rustic with water access
  • This house was perfect for a weekend getaway to Maine. The place was well stocked with almost everything you could need (a wine corkscrew was the only thing we ever wanted for). Philip gave a very detailed tour of the cottage and was super flexible when traffic kept us from getting there on time. We really enjoyed the kayaks (took them out twice!) and the fire place (great for marshmallows). The bathroom is outside, but by that I mean a 3 foot walk from the door. Overall, a really great place with an amazing host.

    Courtney2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, cozy cabin, great location, plenty of amenities and helpful hosts! Highly recommend!

    Eve2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely rustic, amazing location, great entertainment options. Quirky. It's the family cottage you always wanted.

    Penny2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Philip was excellent and answered every question we had. He was very hospitable; greeting us and showing us all the amenities at the camp with a friendly and welcoming manner. He made us feel like this was our camp and that helped us to relax into a nice stay.

  • Had a great time! Phil and Wendy were very inviting and easy to talk to. The cabin was a perfect Maine camp retreat!

    Chris2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. Everything is there that is necessary. The front porch was fantastic! Also, a very quick drive to spend a few hours at the coast one day. Would like to return next year.

    Julianna2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the cabin! It had everything you needed to enjoy the lake - canoes, kayaks, snorkeling gear, fishing poles, etc. and a beautiful view of the sunset. The only issue we had was the crazy amount of bugs that got into the cabin. It was hard to enjoy our meal with them flying around.. Other than that, an amazing getaway in a wonderful town. Check out the Amish market (we got some delicious meats) and the nearby winery for a free tasting (Younity Winery, Clem is fantastic and loves to show folks around!).

    Trysha2016-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was my best vacation so far! Kayaks, awesome lake with clean and warm water, swimming and diving, snorkeling, beautiful nature, great location and fantastic hospitality! We had everything that we needed and even more. I recommend Philip's place to everyone. There are great things here for everyone. Especially kids will love this place. Thank you very much Philip!

A second-floor studio apartment on Main Street in Unity, very close to Unity College and to restaurants and stores. Has its own WiFi and is air-conditioned. The kitchen area has a coffee pot, electric kettle, toaster oven, fridge, and microwave. There is no stove.
No smellies here. We launder our linens with free and clear detergent and line dry them in season. The 93 Main Coffee Shop is downstairs. Open 7 am to 4 pm, serves breakfast and lunch.
  • Jean's place is a little cozy studio perfect for a visit to Unity College. It is in the heart of "downtown" Unity, and just about 3 minutes from the school. We will definitely be back when we're visiting Unity again!

    Krissy2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jean's place was perfect for my family of four. We brought a twin air mattess so both kids had a bed. It was clean, air conditioned, and you can't beat the price. We were thankful to have a quiet place to crash at night after a busy day with extended family. And the coffee shop downstairs has delicious breakfast!

    Star and Taylor2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jean is wonderful and this is the perfect place to stay in Unity. We were dropping our son off at Unity College and this is a short walk through the woods if you want or a very short drive. The beds are comfy, the bathroom is great (towels and washcloths were plush and so nice) and the kitchen amenities were perfect for our short stay. There is a basket of informational magazines/materials/maps and that was really nice. Jean made herself available if necessary for recommendations or any information. Jean's coffee shop just down the stairs is the perfect place for breakfast and coffee as well. We really hope to stay here again!

    Erica 2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our third stay. Outside it was -8, inside nice and toasty warm. Thick comforters on the beds, great heater. Fast wifi. Jean is awesome!

  • Great place for a great price!

    Jensen2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a hidden gem! Jean is a great host, and is super friendly and helpful. The place is cosy and neat, and Jean's new coffee shop is downstairs, so we were able to have a good breakfast and great coffee straight out of bed!

    Craig2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Jean provides very clear and friendly info and the room was even nicer than described. Very self-contained, with a small kitchen and nice seating area, it made me think- "Now why do I need such a big house?..." Crosstrax Café down around the corner is the place to go for good food and coffee. Nice experience all around.

    Jim2016-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely little apartment was all that it needed to be for our one night stay in Unity. We arrived to a cool room on what was a super hot afternoon and a very long drive. What a respite that was! There were plenty of books for sharing, board games, and articles about the local area. The kitchen was fully stocked for what we might have needed in a pinch -- cold sodas and waters, coffee and tea, etc. We were right across the street from a great pizza pub, with friendly staff and live music. I would highly recommend Jean's place for anyone needing to stay in this area.

We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area! Theresa is an amazing host, and the horses were very friendly (and of course they were also adorable)!

  • Lovely and fun spot with a nice view of the lake and the horses. The house is large and well equipped with a very nice kitchen, laundry and open plan living area. The king size bed is a nice plus and everything is very clean. Teresa and her daughter are very accommodating and communicate well. Thanks for a great overnight stay and see you again.

    Fiona2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The weather wasn’t very nice during our visit. It was cold and windy but we were warm and cozy at Teresa’s place. It was easy to find, centrally located for our needs and very quite here. We had plenty of room, the place was well equipped, bed was comfortable and we would definitely consider staying here again if in the area. Our dog, Buck, enjoyed it too

    Scott2017-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a disappointment. Not only was it freezing cold at night with unbalanced temperatures throughout the house, there were also dead & buzzing flys all around and worst of all, the water tasted and smelled of sulfur which was really difficult for our babies, and made showering an unpleasant experience.

Peaceful secluded setting on a sand beach. and Just so everyone knows there are two bedrooms are private , one has a door and the other has a draw curtain ... the sofa bed is in living room and the upstairs is all open ..
  • The house is beautifully situated on the lake with water views on three sides. A private beach and dock between weathered stones and old grow trees. Loons calling on the lake in the evening as the sun sets over it with views from the deck. Lovely! Mark and his brothers are true Mainers, sincere, honest and there to please. We had a great experience.

  • The Lary family camp is absolutely amazing. We were met by Randy who graciously and thoughtfully showed us around the camp. The camp is infused with warmth and obviously treasured Lary family memories. The camp was extremely clean and spacious allowing our family of 10 ample sleeping and living space. The deck overlooking the lake was perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee while listening to the loons, evening BBQ's and viewing spectacular sunsets. The camp is set on a private pristine beach with no close neighbors. The lake is crystal clear with a clean sandy bottom with gradual water entry which was perfect for our children. The Lary family generously allows their guests usage of a paddle boat, canoe, floats and sand toys. The week we spent at the Lary family camp turned out to be our most treasured family vacation ever. We are looking forward to building more memories next summer. Thank you Lary family.

    Katie2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a great time at the Lary's camp, it had the best views. It was very quiet and peaceful, the house was big and very comfortable for 10 people, my grand kids had a great time fishing on the lake. They even would get up in the morning and go for a swim. It was one of our favorite vacations, we would definitely go back to the Lary's camp. Thanks Peg and Teri for sharing your home with the Dupell family!

    Iris2016-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • The house is perfectly situated on the lake with a calm, serene aura as you are basked in nature and devoid of typical interference you find in the more populated towns and cities. There are beautiful views and sounds of nature and if you're into watching the sky at night, you will find yourself in for a real treat with the lack of light pollution fading your view. Lastly, Mark was a great host who was supremely helpful with suggestions for the local area as well as prompt with his responses. The only thing worth noting is there aren't any beds in a secluded room - all of them are viewable from a public space. Not a major detraction by any means, but something worth knowing.

    Max2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time on this lovely lake full of childhood memories. The camp was pleasantly spacious and comfortable for 9 adults. Our hosts were very accommodating, even delivering fresh vegetables from their garden! The sandy beach was a pleasant surprise on such a rocky lake and we spent a lot of time in our kayaks. Loons, geese and a bald eagle made our week complete. We highly recommend a visit.

    Sharon2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Camp Lary. It's a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Unsurpassed natural beauty with a cozy cabin atmosphere. This is a long-standing family camp, so you will see memories on the walls and personal touches unlike most rentals. We love the lake and all the bird life, the sunsets and sandy beach. Hope to make it an annual visit. Thank you Lary family!

  • The rustic charm and natural beauty of this lakefront camp cannot be beat. We felt honored to stay here. The home was comfortable and clean with a well appointed kitchen. We loved cooking on the new gas grill while we soaked in amazing sunsets from the deck. The paddle boat was a great way to explore. We actually loved not having wifi access as it brought us back to a simpler time. Oh and the loons sang such beautiful songs each night. Camp Lary has not seen the last of us!

    Tefa & Joe2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The Lary's camp was great! We had a weekend full of barbecuing, swimming, canoeing, sitting by the fire, and listening to loons! It's a peaceful secluded camp, which provides ample opportunities for fun on the water or relaxing on the beach or in the house. And Mark was a very friendly host!

  • My family (husband, 10 year old, 1 year old) and I chose Teresa's property for our "unplugged family vacation" everything about it was how I envisioned our trip. We pulled in and saw the most beautiful views, and entered an open concept house. The carpet was so squishy, I'm pretty sure we spent most of the time sitting on the floor because it was so comfortable. The baby LOVED running around and had so much room, my older son loved the pool and finding new places to read in the house. The house is a less than 10 minute trip in to town which is full of shops and great places to eat. Teresa was always available via phone if we had a question. Overall, it was an absolutely amazing stay and I'm so glad we chose this as our first AirBNB. Yay!

  • Doug's place was exactly as advertised and as positively reviewed by previous guests. The accommodations were clean and cozy. My husband and I were very comfortable staying there. We were glad we picked it. Doug, his sweet little dog Lady Bird, and their home were all very charming.

  • Doug’s place was extremely comfortable and a wonderful place to stay. He was a gracious and an excellent host. The house was located in a quiet residential neighborhood. The private bathroom and bedroom were excellently maintained and clean. Heated blankets for the cold winter nights of Maine were a delightful plus. He generously provided bagels, fruit, yogurt and coffee/tea. His company and the conversations were quite a delight. Overall it was an extremely pleasant and relaxing stay.

  • It was a very nice stay. The home, room and bathroom was immaculate and Doug was hospitable and welcoming. There were lots of comfy pillows in the room. The farm house has been beautifully renovated with more improvements on the way. There was a wide selection of breakfast items to select from before I headed out back on the road again.

  • We stayed in Doug's home for 3 nights. His home is lovely, clean, spotless and the wifi is great ;) Fresh fruit, oatmeal, bagels, coffee, crackers, cream cheese, yogurt (and more!) were always available to us in the morning. Doug is an amazing host! He is friendly, accommodating and funny as hell. As a host, he respected our space. In our other AirBnb experiences, we usually didn't hang out with our host(s) but Doug and Ladybird (his dog) were just too fun to be around that we looked forward to seeing them after a long day out. As for the room, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The mattress is very comfortable, the pillows were very fluffy, the comforters were warm and the AC was cool. Our routine was to shower at night and we usually slept late. The rooms/bathroom seemed sound proof as we didn't hear anything from his side of the house and we didn't have to worry about disturbing him when we were in our room or showering. We love the fact that each room had a clock and a night light. We look forward to staying with him again in the future! Thank you Doug for having us!!!
