“Phuket Bird Park is a beautifully arranged plot of hillside land that has exotic flora, winding paths, odd memorabilia, 3 cafés, a souvenir shop and of course, hundreds of beautiful birds from all around the tropical world. The experience starts with a lovely wooden bridge – the sort you see in Disney cartoons with multi-coloured butterflies darting about – and a display of indigenous masks along with what appear to be didgeridoos. Opening Hours: Daily from 9am to 5pm Location: 6/2 Moo 3, Chao Fah Tawan Tok Rd, Wichit, Muang, Phuket 83000, Thailand Tel: +66 (0)76 367 576”

“Saphan Hin or Phuket Bay is a popular seaside park which has had a long relationship with islanders since the boom of tin mining years ago when it was a major trading port and the only beach located in Phuket Town. It took a lot of work, money and more than 40 years to develop it into the agreeable and functional park it is nowadays. It’s also the main venue of most of Phuket’s annual events, including the Red Cross Fair, Loy Kratong and a large procession from Chinese shrines on the last day of the famous Vegetarian Festival.”

“Kata Beach diving is easily Thailand's premiere macro diving destination. If you're into macro diving and photography, you don't need to go to Anilao or Raja Ampat or pay for lengthy, crowded boat trips to remote locations to see amazing sea life, it's all conveniently right here at Kata Beach. The best time to dive at Kata is between October to May, when the surface conditions and visibility are at their best. As a diving destination, Kata Beach (north) is actually quite spread out and can be broken down into numerous, smaller dive sites; the reef, the cubes, the sand, and the corner. It is possible to spend a whole day diving at Kata and still not see all it has to offer; divers who have been diving at Kata on a regular basis for years are still finding new critters! Divers can avoid expensive boat trips to remote destinations throughout the diving season, different creatures move in to different areas at different times; no two dives on Kata are ever the same. During the diving season, diving at Kata Beach is good all throughout the day; at both high tide and low tide, as well as at night. In the early morning, the visibility tends to be better which makes diving in the sand much easier and also reduces the risks posed by boat traffic which tends to pick up around 10am. The sandy area is also the deepest dive site at Kata so recommended as the first dive of the day. Later in the day, around mid-morning, nudibranchs tend to be more active and easier to find, in the evening's octopus and cuttlefish are more commonly seen. On the more exposed sites, particularly out in the sand and on the corner, current can affect the dive and needs to be taken into consideration. Depending on your level of experience and comfort, it is possible to dive in the current or take shelter from conditions closer to the reef.”

“Surin is another great beach to visit. Only 5.6km away and the next bay north. The waters here are generally beautiful most of the year round. It can get quite busy during the high season though so be prepared for big crowds. Definitely worth a look if you have your own transportation or passing through. ”

“The 3-lined shore of Bang Tao Beach is an attraction in itself. It is 6 km long and the second longest beach on Phuket’s west coast after Mai Khao Beach. Bang Tao Beach has luxurious central area, popular southern side and a secluded and tranquil northern end. Bangtao hosts some of the most magnificent hotels and resorts in the Laguna Phuket Complex, and apart from the beach itself, most of the attractions available in the area are in fact activities aimed at the entertainment of the numerous vacationers coming to Bangtao. Try beach living and relax in popular Dream Beach Club or Catch Beach Club or Xana Beach Club, have fun in Anthem Wake Park or drive to Splash Jungle Aqua Park (around 15-20 min). For a company with kids (and not only) we recommend to visit Phuket Adventure Mini Golf.”

“Karon Beach features the third-longest beach on Phuket Island. Located on the west coast, between Patong to the north and Kata to the south, Karon Beach is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Phuket. The beach itself has excellent snorkelling (and even diving) spots at its southern end and is wide enough for beachgoers to never feel crowded. Karon features 3 main areas, each with their own assets: Karon Centre is a lively spot where you can find a good choice of dining, shopping and nightlife, as well as a beautiful Buddhist temple hosting a bi-weekly market. Karon Beach Road is ideal for evening strolls and is home to several large resorts, as well as restaurants and shops. The third main area of Karon is centred around Luang Poh Chuan Road, towards the southern end of the beach, which hosts excellent restaurants and the most raucous nightlife in Karon.”

“Khao Rang (Rang Hill) is one of Phuket’s most famous viewpoints. Located to the northwest of the city centre, its summit offers views out over the town and towards the south of the island, neighbouring islands and along the hills forming the ‘spine’ of the island, upon which sits the impressive Big Buddha.
