This detached cottage is in the shade of a beautiful old oak tree (see aerial picture) and surrounded by gardens, woodlands and pasture. Ideally situated for exploring the countryside, moors and coasts of North Devon and further afield. Great WiFi for those wishing to work during the day, and no near neighbours (apart from the hosts) who leave guests to relax and enjoy the rural and quiet surroundings.
Tucked away in a small village in North Devon, Little Buckland Cottage has a fully fitted kitchen opening out to the living room, with a sun room and terrace for when the weather is a little warmer. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, the master bedroom is spacious and the second bedroom is small with a double bed. The bathroom is in between and has a bath with shower above.
Wonderful scenery and no near neighbours means we have peace and quiet in abundance, great WiFi for working during the day! Shops are within easy reach and the main supermarkets deliver here.
  • We had a fantastic time at Nicola and Simon's beautiful property. The owners are just lovely and so incredibly thoughtful - nothing was too much trouble, they made us a lovely chocolate cake for our arrival and gave us fantastic tips for places to visit locally. The property itself is just a delight, cosy and perfectly equipped. I almost don't want to leave such a great review because I want it to be available next time we want to stay!!

  • On arrival Nicola the host was there to welcome us both what a lovely lady , made sure we were settled and that we had everything we needed and if we needed anything to let her know it was no trouble , once inside this beautiful idyllic cottage very modern inside and of a very high standard , was a lovely home made cake for us and some fresh eggs from there chickens , Nicola could not have been a more welcoming host as she was going to the shop asked if we needed a paper or anything she would pick up for us , the cottage is in a quiet wooded area with beautiful country side and walks for the dog , which we loved ,beautiful beaches , book for yourself , we will definitely be returning again 10/10

  • Simply superb. Nicola's hospitality is amazing - by far the best we have ever had on Airbnb and it was be considered exceptional for a 5 star hotel! Really dog friendly and generally relaxed environment. Absolutely spotless on arrival. Great tips throughout our stay. It couldn't have been better

  • Amazing stay in beautiful little cottage. Is even better than the pictures. Host is so friendly, helpful, bought us a morning newspaper and delivered a well received lemon cake. Good local tips. Great location to escape for some peace with dog walks through forest from the front door but close to beaches and other attractions as well. Could not recommend enough.

  • Lovely cottage, host is very helpful and lovely

    Kellie2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • It’s always such a relief when a property turns out to be just as you had hoped and this was the case for us. Down quiet Devon lanes, amidst stunning woodlands and fields it was a perfect getaway for us with lots of lovely places to visited if we wanted to. Nicola and Simon were great hosts and made sure we had everything we needed without intruding. Perfect summer tonic.

Beautiful cosy wagon with private terrace, barbecue, firepit, 10 acres of beautiful fields to walk in and a hot tub to enjoy under a sky full of stars. 10 minute walk to village pub for dinner and a pint. Woodburner and electric heating to keep you cosy. Shower room, mezzanine bedroom with double bed, further double sofa bed, fully equipped kitchen area, dining area, covered verandah with seating, superfast Wifi, onsite private parking. Up to two dogs welcome.
CORONAVIRUS : Please note that our guests' safety is extremely important to us and we are disinfecting all hard surfaces in the wagon in addition to the normal cleaning regime before our guests' arrival. We use chlorine to sanitise the hot tub. This is recommended as an effective virus killer. Our smallholding is in the heart of Devon in a pretty village with lots of character. Lots of walks, lots of wildlife! 3 nature reserves and the Tarka Trail within walking distance and the sand and surf beaches of Bude and Westward Ho! easily accessible by car. We have two horses which are mostly out in the fields in summer but during wet weather and in winter stay in the stables to the rear of the wagon area. We have orchards with rare apple varieties, plums and pears which you are welcome to try in season. You can bring well behaved dogs but there are sheep in fields around so be aware.
Although tucked away from the village, the retreat is within walking distance (about 500 metres) of the village pub, which serves meals and real ales and accepts well behaved dogs. The Tarka Trail is also within walking distance. We've got Exmoor to the north, about an hour's drive away, and Dartmoor to the south, a bit closer at 30 minutes away. If you go to the top of the hill above the village, you can see both. We've got beaches all around us, from Bude to the west, Westward Ho! to the north west and Woolacombe to the north. Our favourites are Welcombe Mouth and Sandymouth Bay, both within an hou's drive. Nearest beaches are at Instow, Westward Ho!, Northam Burrows, Bude. The first three are within 40 minutes drive. Bude is an hour away. Finally, we've also got some great places to do a bit of wild swimming, Sheepwash being the nearest.
  • Such a wonderful time, so many lovely touches to our stay. One of the best getaways! Thank you so much!

  • Fabulous place, private and relaxing. I expect it’s beautiful in the summer

    Jane2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a stunning little getaway. We didn’t have the best weather for the weekend, but it didn’t matter. The wagon is cosy and warm.. and perfect to get away from “every day life” for a couple nights. Gill was an amazin host. And we will definitely be going back.. :)

    Sally2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great quiet relaxing clean place

    Caroline2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Air bnb experience, and what a great start. Brilliant stay, it was clean, peaceful, and had everything you needed. The hot tub really finished the experience off. Everything is exactly how it's explained in the add. Gill and Will are exceptional hosts. We can't wait to visit again. 10/10 Thank you so much! Brad and Charney. (And Buddie the dog!)

    Brad2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • I picked this place because its nice and quiet in the countryside. The wagon is lovely and has everything you need. Having your own private jacuzzi was just the best thing you can imagine. Sitting there at night and looking at the stars was a great relaxing experience. The hosts are very helpful as well so I'd definetely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

Lovely thatched cottage that sleeps four in the village of Petrockstowe. Next to the gate of the 14th century St. Petroc's Church, twenty metres from the cosy village pub, The Laurels, and a short walk from the 30 mile long Tarka Trail.
My home, Church Gate Cottage, is a traditional 18th century thatched cottage in Petrockstowe. Downstairs I have a well equipped kitchen, a bathroom with an electric shower, a dining room, a sitting room with a lovely fireplace to sit down and relax in front of. The cottage sleeps four. The bedrooms can be configured as two doubles or a twin and a double. Please advise which suits you best. Heating is via a bio mass pellet boiler. Outside I have storage space, which can store bikes, so this is ideal for people who have cycled from the Tarka Trail or want to go cycling around the area.
The house is ideally located! To the right of the main door is the gate to the local church. Just infront of the house is a war memorial with a place to sit down on, and parking for cars. Leaving the house and walking down the hill less then twenty metres gets you to the local pub, The Laurels. It's a cosy pub used by the locals and those from further afield. The village is full of thatched cottages, it's very close to the Tarka Trail, amazing for walking or bike rides. We are within easy driving distance of the coast and we often take our dogs for a walk on Westward Ho! beach on Sunday mornings. The area is not far from Dartmoor and Exmoor which are wonderful for walking. We have several pubs that do good food in the area including The Rams Head in Dolton and The Black River at Black Torrington for someoa little special or The Half Moon in Sheepwash and The Bull and Dragon in Meeth for good pub grub.
  • Lovely cottage in a beautiful village setting. Local pub next door is just 50 yards away, and there are others within a few miles. The village is fairly isolated but on the other hand is well set up for visits to both north and south coasts plus Dartmoor. Very warm welcome and a toasty pellet burner gave a bright and cheerful warm glow.

    Richard2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for 2 nights as a little break away to view some potential wedding venues in north devon. It's such a lovely little homely cottage and we arrived to fresh eggs and home baked cake which was a lovely little extra. Fiona was a great host and popped in to top up the pellet heater so we didnt get cold. Thank you for being so fab x

    Emily2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time celebrating New Years in Fiona’s cosy cottage. We would happily recommend anyone to stay here.

    Ali2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Fiona’s place - it was around Christmas and thoughtful touches like fruit mince pies were much appreciated. The home was warm and comfortable, with all charms of a classic English cottage (those who are a little taller beware the lower ceilings in parts!)

    Beck2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • A charming, cosy Devon thatched cottage. Stunning location. Good dog walks. Friendly locals. Welcoming and friendly host. Would definitely stay again.

    Sarah2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We are walking the Tarka Trail. This lovely cottage is ideally placed to do the section between Great Torrington and Dolton and onwards towards Okehampton. So cosy and warm it had everything we needed and some extra sticky toffee pudding on arrival!!! Brilliant host with great communication. It made a good weekend great :)

    Angela2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona was a great host and the cottage was lovely and quaint. She left a lovely sticky toffee pudding to greet us and the fire had warmed the house up for our arrival. It was very close to a dog-friendly pub which served lunches and dinners. There were plenty of Tarka Trails to walk along, easily accessible by car and would recommend a visit to Westwood-Ho! Beach. Okehampton was a lovely nearby town with a range of shops and restaurants.

    Michelle2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is divine. Fiona is a lovely host and we arrived with a roaring wood burner and home made treacle pudding in the kitchen. Would definitely stay there again.

The Cabin @ Lake Lodge is a newly-built and tastefully decorated log cabin with a contemporary, yet cosy feel. The property overlooks agricultural land that houses our small flock of sheep, currently with lambs at foot. The Cabin has its own garden complete with hot tub, brick BBQ and fire pit. Please note that an additional £10/day is charged for use of the hot tub. You will find a complimentary bottle of Prosecco waiting for you in the fridge; hot drinks and firewood also included.
The Cabin provides guests with a rare opportunity to enjoy and survey the surrounding countryside and wildlife from the comfort of a cosy and fully glass-fronted sitting room. You may experience our friendly sheep roaming within feet of the sitting room windows, or be lucky enough to spot other wildlife enjoying the land and seemingly unaware of your presence. A well-stocked bird table and bird feeders are located just outside of the living room and kitchen windows, which attract an array of breeds.
Guests will find the residents of Hatherleigh welcoming and approachable with a wonderful sense of community. There are a host of events to be enjoyed, such as the arts festival in July and its exceptional carnival in November.
  • Sitting under the stars in a hot tub will be something I will remember forever. A beautiful stay away. The cabin was so sweet and romantic the pictures don't do it justice. Birds come right up to the window to feed and listening to them is so peaceful. The location is great too! And we were presented with some lovely ideas to go out and eat. Lovely, peaceful, romantic and great hosts 10/10 would 100% recommend and come back.

    Amy2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great space with nice touches. Ideal if you are active in the day, and then wish to soak in the hot tub in the evening. I’m sure I’ll be back

    Simon2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is an absolutely beautiful place to stay, I don't think much can beat waking up in such a peaceful place. It's hidden away enough to allow for some peace and quiet but close enough to all the amenities you'd need. Rob and Sophie were great hosts, they were there if we required any help but otherwise we were left to enjoy our stay. They have literally thought of everything you could have needed, the cabin isn't missing anything you might require. It was super clean and the hot tub was amazing. The closed in private garden was a great plus in regards to our bouncy young Labrador who enjoyed her stay as much as my husband and I did! We look forward to returning!

    Sian2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful place located right in the heart of beautiful Devon. The cabin surpassed our expectations and the tranquility of the location was fantastic. Both of us, not to mention the dog, loved the sheep and chickens and were fascinated by their movements. The hot tub was so hot, beautiful to sit in on those cold and rainy nights. The log burner was lovely and made a really cosy cabin. A fantastic stay, luxurious, relaxing and we will definitely be back soon. Great hosts with fantastic communication, thank you.

    Nick2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing weekend away accommodation so nice in a beautiful location loved the wildlife and of course the hot tub ... can’t wait to return , lovely added touches chocolate left on your pillow and ice cold bottle of procecco in fridge .... ample of tea coffee sugar ect .... the eggs from the chickens we collected in the mornings made a amazing breakfast .... Amanda and Sean from Swindon

    Amanda2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was amazing. Sophie responded quickly to enquiries, the place was clean and modern and had a nice secure garden. The log burner was great, it made the cabin feel so cosy. We felt like we had privacy, we couldn't see anyone throughout the stay and we could have been anywhere in the world. It is not often that you get to enjoy this sort of luxury when you travel with dogs. We loved it. And we will go back!

    Emmi2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fab cabin - a perfect space for our weekend away. The hot tub and fire were great! The bed was incredibly comfy. Nice distance to Dartmoor and the local village was easy to walk into and lovely to visit. I would definitely recommend!

    Claire2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This lodge exceeded our expectations. We've stayed in a few air b n b of high standard and this is by far my favourite. After going for soggy dog walks across dartmoor coming back to a hot tub and a log fire were perfect. Eating breakfast whilst watching the sheep, the birds and chickens was so relaxing. The garden was perfect for the dog, all nicely enclosed allowing us to relax in the hot tub without having to worry about where the dog was. Little touches like the chocolates on the pillow and the bubbly added the extra wow to our whole stay. We would 100% reccomend this to our friends and intend to return in the spring/ summer to make use of the pizza oven in the garden. Sophie was only a text away if we had any problems otherwise we felt like we were all alone in our own little paradise. Thank you sophie. X

  • We had a fabulous week at Gill and Will's cottage, the location was perfect for plenty of nice walks locally, but also really good if you are happy to explore by car. Check in was easy and Gill was a really responsive host, the cottage was beautiful and clean. I would recommend Gill's place to anyone and will hopefully be back in the future :)

Even with storm Dennis around us it was beautiful and it didn’t stop us using the Hot tub. Relaxing with good friends and enjoying the tranquil surroundings. If you want to take time out from a hectic life this is the place to go. Highly recommended.

  • This cottage has to be seen to be appreciated! We have just returned from an utterly perfect weekend here. The house is immaculately clean and the facilities are great. There is everything you could need or want. Gill has made sure to provide helpful info about the property and the local area. The hot tub provides a beautiful place to unwind and enjoy the peace and scenery and the cookies on arrival were a lovely touch. The dog loved exploring the garden and the surrounding land too! Although we didn't meet Gill and Will, communication was great, we had contact details if we needed them and we knew everything we needed to know well in advance. We are already looking for available dates to book again.

Deer Park Dairy is a remote, stunning barn conversion set in ten acres of open farmland at the end of a long private stone farm track enjoying outstanding views across lakes, rolling countryside and the ancient Deer Park. Well socialised dogs are welcome (max 2) although I would ask that they are not allowed in bedrooms or on the furniture. Note: The track is not suitable for low ground clearance two seater sports car vehicles.
The property is on one level with each bedroom and the living area having access to the large south-facing patio. This unique property is extremely spacious and light. The bedrooms can be configured as two doubles or a double and a twin, it is possible for an extra single to be put in one room. There is a large open plan living, kitchen, dining area with both a log burning stove and underfloor heating, you will feel wonderfully warm and cosy during the winter months. Situated in a spectacular isolated, quiet and rural location, Deer Park Dairy makes the perfect getaway. The dairy is located adjacent to the owners cottage, a former seventeenth century hunting lodge.
  • We had an amazing stay. The place is beautiful with everything you need, Simon was a great host and we loved little touches like sticky toffee pudding or clotted cream in the fridge. A huge thank you!

    Veronika2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our weekend away here - the listing is very accurate, and there were lots of extra touches ready for us. The barn is beautiful with amazing views out over the surrounding area. Simon was really easy to communicate with both before and during our stay. We’d definitely recommend staying here!

    Lauren2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a superb find, so many wonderful little touches and everything you could possibly want for had been thought about and provided. A lovely, spacious and very warm place with underfloor heating, a very well stocked kitchen - felt like at home. A cosy fireplace and TV entertainment (Netflix, Prime Video etc.) was superb addition in rainy weather conditions. Simon is a great host who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Thank you for an absolutely delicious homemade Sticky Toffee pudding, freshly pressed apple juice and the best free range eggs we have ever tried! Would definitely recommend to anyone who want to stay in a very well done barn conversion in a beautiful countryside of Devon.

    Edgars2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • A beautifully converted barn in a beautiful part of Devon! Perfectly situated for trips to the coast and Dartmoor. Simon is an excellent host and the barn is very well equipped. We’ll be back!

  • Good local pubs, we liked the black river inn. Comfortable stay, well equipped kitchen. Great log burner, cosy sofas.

    Philippa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Simon was a perfect host - friendly, informative, welcoming, and forthcoming with homemade cider. We enjoyed a perfect little getaway at Deer Park. It's wonderfully quiet and the house has everything you need, including an incredibly well-stocked kitchen. As parents of an 8-month-old we were also pleased to find a cot, high chair, blackout blinds, bath toys and other such facilities, meaning we didn't need to bring it with us. With the log burner, beams, huge comfy sofas and peaceful location it was ideal for a cosy autumn retreat.

    Chris2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent property and hospitality

    Nick2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a week away in the barn. The place is incredible, there is everything you could wish for and more. From the amazing welcome pack including fresh apple juice & Fiona’s yummy sticky toffee pudding to the beautiful surroundings, we couldn’t have wished for a better base for exploring Devon. Simon is an incredible host and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We had a lovely holiday and will definitely be returning to this amazing place. The kids are missing the fish and of course little Coco already! Thanks again Simon :)

Welcome to The Den, tucked away in the privacy of our garden - Offering living/sleeping space and ensuite shower room. With unique original features it includes a double bed, relaxed seating area, and kitchenette area with kettle, toaster, fridge and essentials. Although small and compact The Den offers high quality accommodation with a crisp and clean minimalist feel. Imagine yourself sleeping in your own den, relaxing in peace and quiet in cosy comfort - let the real world slip away.
The Den is set on its own patio area, situated within our productive vegetable garden. This sheltered and secluded space, in the grounds of our home, is for your own private use during your stay and you are very welcome to wander the gardens and paddock areas too. There’s a BBQ/fire bowl and outdoor furniture to enjoy on the patio, nestled next to the rhubarb patch and looking out across the prolific vegetable beds. Dark skies and outstanding views of the Milky Way makes star-gazing snuggled under cosy blankets a favourite pastime. Your stay includes fresh milk, a variety of teas and ground coffee, with a DIY breakfast of cereal, toast and juice. The bathroom has a lovely wooden floor, large shower, towel-rail, sink and WC. The Den is too small (12m2 ) to have cooking facilities, but if you would like to stay longer, and make a week of it, we are very happy to set up a ‘camp kitchen’ for you so you can prepare and cook you own meals al fresco. If you are arriving by bike without provisions we can provide a hearty evening meal or BBQ hamper - please enquire when you book. Relax in the sunny garden, explore the local area walking or cycling. Visit amazing beaches, coastline and countryside or Dartmoor and market towns, all within a short drive.
Located in the rolling West Devon countryside The Den is a must for those seeking a taste of the rural life. Situated two and a half miles north of the market town of Hatherleigh where there are two pubs which serve evening meals, a cafe, Post Office, newsagents, a small supermarket, a Fish and Chip shop and several small, individual art and craft shops. Market day is on a Tuesday.
  • Quiet, rural, clean, warm, private basic accommodation in idyllic spot in hosts garden. Visited two nature reserves recommended by host Meeth Quarry and Halsdon by River Torridge...beautiful. Homemade pies at Bull and Dragon in Meeth, were excellent. Thoroughly recommended as stop over or a visit in it own right.

    Richard2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I chose The Den because on screen it ticked all the boxes for what I was seeking: rural; private, come/go/stay as I want, homely, value for money. When I arrived, I wasn't disappointed and I soon felt at home. The Den is in its own little space but Shant's and her neighbours' houses are close by if needed, so great if you're travelling solo. The Den is what you see in the pictures: basic equipment provided; clean, simple, contemporary decor (love the wooden towel pegs); access to garden furniture including a barbeque. It was raining and blowing a hooly most of the time I stayed so I didn't get to use these. It's a great place for environment-conscious people: recycling, composting and conscious water use. If you're a stargazer, The Den is a fab place to stay. I got a glimpse of the clear star-studded sky on my last night just before another storm blew in. I stayed alone and was very comfortable in the space; it would be ok for a cosy couple. Hatherleigh is cute. Check out the Pyle auctions just for the auctioneer's banter if not to bid.

  • Even with a storm outside on our second day we had a lovely time there. A comfortable, fun little place to stay. North Devon Coast within reach and nice countryside all around.

  • Very cosy little cabin in the garden, so quiet, a perfect break from the hustle and bustle of city life!

  • I did not make it to Shanti's place in the end as I had some personal things come up in my life but my interactions with Shanti were great and I'm sure she is a great host.

  • I can’t rate this accommodation highly enough. The space is beautiful and serene, a lovely host as well as friendly neighbours (sheep, chickens and geese). Bed was warm and shower was good, I took my own radio and spent some lovely alone time there.

  • The den was really cosy, the communication was great and the instructions to get there were really accurate and helpful! It was sparkling clean and the heater was left on for us so that it was warm when we arrived. Perfect little spot for what we needed!

  • Cheryl’s place is a lovely cottage, I could have moved in. The cottage has everything you need for your stay. Little extra touches like toiletries, tea, coffee, milk, cleaning supplies. An extra special welcome will be waiting for you. The views are spectacular and this really is a getaway from everything. The weather wasn’t as nice as we’d hoped which meant we spent less time exploring but more time at this lovely property. The bed was comfy and the room spacious. Kitchen space is perfect for cooking and dining in with views over the open countryside. We hope to return.

  • Loved Cheryl’s barn. Amazing views, very homely - log burner with Wood was wonderful. Touches such as toiletries, milk and croissants were really appreciated. Comfy bed, lovely towels. Really hope to visit again soon.

  • The pictures really don't do this place justice! Cheryl's barn is beautiful and so nicely done out with such thoughtful little touches. In spite of the dreadful weather while we were there, the barn was so cosy and a little sanctuary to retreat to in the evenings. We met Cheryl on arrival, who was really welcoming and made us feel right at home. I hope we get to visit again - perhaps when we can sit outside and enjoy the views!

    Hayley2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy barn with beautiful views. We were made to feel so welcome and Cheryl and Nick went above and beyond with their hospitality. Highly recommend.

  • The picture-perfect thatched cottage is even more delightful than the photos suggest. Extremely well-equipped, spotlessly clean and cosy. The location - next to a pretty little village church- adds an extra element of charm. Access is easy, just off the main road through the village. Although we didn't meet the owners, everything was straightforward and we spent a memorable Christmas at the cottage, in spite of the rainy weather. The owners even left us a little potted Christmas tree to decorate. A lovely place in lovely Devon.

  • This is a lovely cottage. Gorgeous modern fitted kitchen, perfect for our family dinners. The rest of the well equipped cottage was cosy and quaint with an amazing fireplace and a comfy living area and beds. Beautifully located in the village next to the church. David was a very responsive host when we emailed a question. Would totally recommend.

2 Lakeview Rise is a fully furnished one-bedroom holiday cottage offering home-from-home accommodation in an idyllic rural setting. There is an open-plan lounge-diner, fitted kitchen, one double bedroom, bathroom with shower and WC and a private decked area with table and chairs and a stunning view across the surrounding countryside. Private parking for one car, wifi, a communal indoor heated swimming pool, a coarse fishing lake, laundry room, children's play area and picnic tables.
Lakeview Rise is situated approximately 20 minutes from the picturesque market towns of Holsworthy and Okehampton. The location offers excellent access to both Dartmoor – 20 minutes – and the North coast beaches – approximately 25 minutes. There is a wealth of interesting places to visit in the area as well as hikes and bicycle trails nearby. Highampton's pub has limited opening times. The closest pub food is at the very good Half Moon in Sheepwash, which is about 1.5 Miles away. Unfortunately the village shop has shut down. Black Torrington has a small shop. Okehampton has a Coop, Waitrose and Lidl. The north Devon beaches, Dartmoor National Park and am abundance of small villages are all close by. There is an information pack in the cottage and a selection of brochures advertising local attractions.
  • Went for a Valentine’s get away and it was a great experience. The place was clean, well furnished and felt very homey. It could get a little chilly sometimes, even with the radiators on, however Helen has provided two small heaters which warm the place up in no time! The pool was very spacious and clean. Despite us going in February it was rather warm! There were plenty of films and board games available inside the cottage which was great for us as we were hit by the storms and were stuck inside. The kitchen was properly kitted out, even having scales for us to use whilst baking. Last but not least, Helen and Michael always provided quick responses to any of our queries, and were extremely understanding when we notified them of us being a little late arriving. We couldn’t be any happier with our stay!

  • Very cosy and rural accommodation, perfect for relaxing on the decking - even when the weather turned during our stay we enjoyed getting cosy watching the rain through the large patio doors while watching TV.

  • Great little cottage! Comfy bed, clean linen and all you could ask for in amenities. Perfectly positioned for day trips in Devon and Cornwall. We visited Bude, Port Isaac, Clovelly, Dartmoor National Park, Okehampton Castle to name a few. The Half Moon Inn did great food. Thank you for our lovely stay.

  • Had a wonderful stay. House was as expected. Enough room for two people. Really nice to see a good quality cooker and a dishwasher in a small house, not many places have that! Gorgeous area. Pool was nice and warm. We got lucky with the weather and visited some of the local beaches. All in all a great stay. Great value. Very sad to leave.

Surrounded by glorious countryside; Church Ford Cottage is a short drive to the sandy beaches of Instow, Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, Bude, Woolacombe and Croyde. Easy access to the Tarka Trail is less than a mile away, which is a 180 mile regional route connecting many of the locations described by author Henry Williamson in his novel ‘Tarka the Otter’. The 30 mile segment closest to Church Ford Cottage is largely constructed on former railway lines and has been designed for cycling and walking as is part of the National Cycle Network. The charming town of Great Torrington is just over a mile away for the nearest shops, petrol, swimming pool, cafes and pubs. The stunning gardens at RHS Rosemoor are a must do, as is a visit to Dartington Crystal. Attractions close by include Clovelly village, The BIG Sheep, The Milky Way Adventure park, and Bideford for boats to Lundy Island. The pannier markets at South Molton and Barnstaple are always worth a visit.
  • Just home from a 4 night stay. Cottage was just beautiful and spotless. Such a pleasant surprise to have all the basics there to make the stay so easy, such as tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets even cling film and tinfoil and oil! And plenty of logs. In additional a lovely welcome pack. The cottage was so lovely, in a great location and easy to find. Lots of information on places to visit. Highly recommend x

  • The Church Ford cottage was perfect for a weekend away to recharge. Unlike other Air BnBs I've stayed in - this was kitted out to feel like your own home with all the home comforts and equipment you'd need in the living room and kitchen. We had really poor luck with the weather but it's not a far drive to local pubs in Torrington or slightly further to the beaches at Westward Ho! and Instow. Despite being forced indoors, the traditional style of the building, the smart TV, board games, and wood burner made it an idyllic spot to hunker down and wait out Storm Jorge. We would definitely come here again and will be recommending to any friends planning a trip to Devon.

    David2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what an amazing place to stay! We were greeted by Lucy and Dave with a warm welcome and lovely local produce to start our break. The property is more than you can imagine it is from the photos! Beautiful furnishings and appliances throughout, and amazing super king beds so sumptuous and quality linens (a huge plus point for me!). Even a wood burning stove all set up and ready to go to create the snuggliest evening In with Netflix, Amazon and Freesat on TV too. We travelled with a small child so our evenings were enjoyed ‘at home’ whilst he had a super king bed all to himself too! Perfect for couples travelling or I expect the beds separate to two singles. Location was great to see Devon. Dartington Glass factory was fabulous as was Clovelly village ( get there early). Highly recommended! Huge thanks to you both 😘

Whether you want a quiet romantic break for two, dining overlooking Dartmoor, or if you want to take the family away to enjoy, walking, cycling, archery, water activities, horse riding or sampling the local tipple and plenty more in the local area, then you’ll certainly enjoy your stay at Lakeview.
A truly tranquil setting. Enjoy breakfast on the terrace, hearing the delightful bird songs. Then why not enjoy a splash in the indoor pool or spend the day fishing in the well stocked private lake. Stroll to the local pub to sample some local tipple with a hearty meal. With the spectacular Dartmoor views from the terrace, why not share a bottle of wine until the sun sets, then enjoy the amazing stars and silence.
The neighbourhood is quiet and somewhere to relax and chill out. It is rural with some fascinating wild life and birds which enjoy being fed.
  • Perfect base for exploring the Dartmoor area. Some great doggie walks including Fernworthy reservoir & Castle Drogo a short drive away. Bude beach was worth a visit although less dog friendly in summer months. Lots of info & ideas for days out & walking routes provided which was really helpful. The swimming pool was great. Would recommend The Half Moon in Sheepwash for food & friendly locals.

My place is close to family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the location, the views, the outdoors space, and the ambiance. Please be aware that the cottage is situated on the yard. If you are scared of horses we may not be the best place for you. We welcome well behaved dogs. Please note: Check in is between 4 pm and 8 pm.
The cottage is a converted cob barn retaining many features. The cottage is situated on the yard and over looks the stable. Also the kitchen window looks into the indoor school. A dream cottage for any pony mad little girl.
We have direct access onto the Tarka Trail, perfect for walkers, cyclists and riders. There is a village pub in walking distance (1.5 miles) which serves food. The market town of Hatherleigh is a short drive away which is home to two country pubs, a local shop and a fish and chip shop. We are central for Dartmoor, Exeter, Barnstable and Bude. All no more than an hour away at the most.
  • We stayed in the single floored log cabin, as Sam offered this to us rather than the cottage withnstairs due to travelling with a toddler. This was a lovely thought and indicative of the warm welcome and attention that we received before and throughout our stay. Our daughter loved saying hello to the horses each morning, and the local village of Hatherleigh had all we needed amenity-wise.

  • Staying at Easter Hall Park for the weekend was a relaxing, calm, enjoyable break. We stayed in the flat which was really spacious and had everything we needed, the beds were comfy and the kitchen and bathroom clean and tidy. Our 9yr old daughter had an amazing time, having a couple of lessons and took part in the horse show which was an added thrill for her. All the staff are very helpful and friendly, the horses well schooled and cared for and the resident dogs (Emily wanted to kidnap a couple) were well behaved and really friendly. The surrounding area has lots to offer, theTarka trail just a short walk or ride away, and not too far from Bude. Sandymouth beach was great for surfing and families with good facilities. Nearby Hatherleigh has good places to eat, the Tally Ho in particular and The George Hotel. All in all a great place to stay.

    Karen2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a lovely stay at Easter Hall park. The owners were very friendly and helpful, the horse and dogs were great to see. The cottage was very comfortable and Bude was close (about 40 mins by car) and the Tarka trail was a short bike ride away.

  • We loved our stay here. An authentically cosy cottage set in the beautiful countryside with all the energy and vibrancy of a functioning stables. Situated on the Ruby Way cycle trail and close to the Tarka Trail. Dartmoor and the beaches of North Devon and Cornwall are a short drive away. We are near a number of course fishing lakes and close to the river. You’ll love my place because of the privacy of having your own detached accommodation set in some of the most picturesque countryside in Devon. There is a village pub (no food served). My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends (pets).
A private self-contained coach house (next door to the main property) with one bedroom, bathroom, lounge and kitchenette. It is a compact space but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchenette has a fridge, toaster, kettle, single hob and microwave with oven and grill functions so you can prepare your own simple meals and breakfasts before exploring the surrounding countryside. There is also a small patio area with a table and chairs to sit at outside the back door in the garden.
Situated in the quiet and pretty village of Highampton with a village pub (currently not serving food) and church. • Beautiful and spacious accommodation tucked away in such a quiet location, but still so handy for shops and pubs. A lovely couple who couldn’t have been more accommodating. There was the most delicious home-made fresh bread for the morning and a fab selection of jam/honey/(my favourite!) peanut butter for the morning plus fresh fruit. Amazing value, I would highly recommend!

Slept really well in the room and had a delicious full English cooked breakfast in the morning, made by Janice, along with cereals, juice and tea in a breakfast room. Communication with Janice was easy and clear, and she was able to accommodate an early check in as I was attending a wedding nearby. Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend Janice’s place to anyone looking to stay in the area!

Welcome to The Deer Lodge at Keyethern Farm. Relax in the large open planned living area and take in breath-taking views of Dartmoor, crystal clear starry skies and wildlife just outside your door. A fully kitted out kitchen with beautiful views will make even just making a cup of tea, a treat. Perfect for a short stay for weddings or a long relaxing getaway.
Located down a classic half mile country track, The Deer Lodge is attached to our family farmhouse on a working deer park. You'll be overlooking the fields where our majestic herd of deer can be seen daily. Facing South, you'll enjoy a wonderfully light, large open planned living area with comfortable home furnishings. There's plenty of space to stretch-out and enjoy a film, watch the birds and plan your next ramble or enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony. Adjacent to the living space is a kitchen packed with all you need to make cooking a breeze whilst you stay. The bedroom is spacious with a comfy double bed, plenty of furniture to use and a hanging rail for your clothes. Just off the kitchen, you'll have a bathroom with a toilet and bath (with attachable showerhead). We've also provided a telescope so you can take advantage of the incredible clear night skies.
Your front door opens onto the public footpath, so you're immediately set for a beautiful walk. We are also close to renowned walks on the Ruby Way and the Tarka Trail. Hatherleigh is only a couple of miles away and has some great independent pubs and cafes. There is a market on Tuesdays with local food and produce, and a Co-op for everything else. Slightly further a field, you'll find the stunning RHS Rosemoor - a great family attraction with year round activities and a lovely restaurant. There's Meldon Quarry, sited on The Granite Way - a truly spectacular and mostly traffic free cycle route through rural Devon with fantastic views of Dartmoor and the surrounding countryside. Take to the water at Roadford Reservoir with kayak, sailing and paddleboard hire to name but a few. We're about 22 miles from Bude, which has wonderful beaches and some of our favourite places to eat.
  • The Deer Lodge was well equipped and Fran had supplied many little extras to make our stay really comfortable. We had poor weather during our weekend stay but can see it would be a wonderful place to stay in dry weather/during the summer, so peaceful and lovely countryside. The Lodge was really clean and the bed very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Lodge to everyone.

    Sharon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is attached to the farmhouse but is accessed by a separate door and isn't overlooked. It has fully equipped kitchen and a large, comfortable lounge space that looks onto the adjacent deer pen. There's a separate parking space available. Large double-doors open onto a balcony which gives a big sense of space and light to the whole space. The balcony has a bird feeder and with the deer beyond you can happily spend some time watching the view across the fields. The apartment's decoration feels more like a home than a holiday let and it's a family farm so there's a friendly informal feeling to it all.

    Robert2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • The view as you are driving to the property is absolutely amazing - herds of deer both sides of the track. Fran was an amazing host, nothing was too much trouble and the space was full of thoughtful touches - milk, spices, oil, biscuits, board games, telescope etc. Fran kindly put some apples by the balcony so we watched the deer feed whilst we sat on the sofa. Lots of useful info in the welcome book and everything that you would need for cooking is there. Would definitely return to the Deer Lodge and would recommend.

  • Amazing hospitality!! Vicky provided so much information about everything! (places to eat, her place, the area etc). Even the little things were thought of which made our stay even better (milk, bread, coffee etc). We especially loved the birds and squirrels on the patio having their daily breakfast. Vicky was very quick to reply to all my questions even when it was a last minute booking. The directions given did get us a little lost, however the satnav did take us straight to the property. Will be returning when the weather is a bit warmer

  • Travelled with my two children for a few days between Xmas and New year. I was expecting a bit more space, but I really did not mind as we were there for the outdoors. We were a bit unlucky with the wet weather, but the indoor pool was really a saving grace. On nice days the view from the porch was just spectacular, I can imagine how nice this would be during the summer. A few things I wanted so specially call out - Vickys responsiveness, always prompt and quick to come back with suggestions. Also the place is so well equipped/ thoughtful touches, too many things to list, including milk/bread on our first day, having arrived relatively late that evening - this was a god sent. Would love to come back in the summer for a longer period. Thank you Vicky!

    Sunil2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic stay at LakeView Rise. Vicky was fantastic with communication and really quick responding to my messages. The accommodation was spotless and Vicky even left a small treat for my daughter and myself and partner a bottle of wine on arrival. Vicky went above and beyond to make sure my stay was a pleasant one. The site itself is in a fantastic location set just out side dartmoor. The site has an indoor heated swimming pool which was clean and well kept. We would love to return again next year. Thank you Vicky for a fantastic stay and all your help.

  • Julia's house was a gorgeous little get away. Nestled in a valley, the morning views across the landscape to Dartmoor in the distance are stunning. The house it's self is cosy, stylish and very well provided for. Julia had left all sorts of lovely little touches like fresh milk in the fridge, a little bag of chocolates for the children under their pillows and some grown up chocolates for the parents! We had the pool to ourselves the whole time which was an amazing treat in January. All in all we'll definitely be back and would recommend this fabulous little cottage to anyone.

A warm welcome awaits you from the Hastings Family & their 2 Donkeys Daphne & Delilah A delightful self-catering barn with a wealth of features in the heart of North Devon. Set in 16 acres of farm land you are free to explore & walk well behaved dogs. Lots of walks & great local village pub 1.5 miles away. With countryside views and walks yet within 25 - 30 minutes of award winning beaches it is the perfect location for peacefulness and lovely walks. We are also set an equal distance between Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks. ) with RHS Rosemoor Gardens only 5 minutes away. Lower Whitsleigh Farm also encourage all the family to help feed our animals! From a young age, many children are drawn to animals and find them a constant source of fascination, humour and wonder. So at Lower Whitsleigh Farm we’re a big fan of providing holidays which give children the option to spend time around animals. Join in the daily animal feeding and experience the farming lifestyle by going out and meeting all the farm animals, all waiting to be pet and fed. It is especially exciting for all the children as they get to interact with the animals and learn lots about them, creating lifetime memories. By the end of your holiday they are proper little farmers. Every morning after breakfast, we feed our animals with the help of the young apprentice farmers staying. The very favourite activity is always feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs. Even our tiniest guests love our poultry and are brave enough to throw a handful of corn! There is a chance to hold them every morning too. We also allow our guests to keep the eggs they have collected for a fresh and authentic country breakfast Pigs There’s only one thing that our mischievous pigs love more than a mud bath – breakfast! And the only thing they love more than their normal breakfast is banana skins, so save yours up and watch them chomp them down. Chickens Little one’s love feeding the chickens. And seeing them crouched down with a pot of grain and a big smile, while our tame chickens contentedly peck away, always makes a great photo. All of our Chickens are ex-battery hens that we have rescued and given a new lease of free- range living Donkeys Daphne (brown and white) & Delilah (hairier grey one) are both rescues from the Donkey sanctuary in Sidmouth. Both adore the odd carrot, apple and their absolute favourite things are ginger biscuits. They also love to be groomed and tickled inside their ears! Parents have told us that their children are so excited after having helped us feed and care for the animals during their holiday that when they get back to school they write about it or even do a project on what they have seen and learned. It is always rewarding to see how much the children absorb in helping us feed the animals. By the end of their holiday they know exactly who gets fed, when, how much and a bit about general animal husbandry. Dog Friendly Cottages We are dog and pet friendly. Lower Whitsleigh Farm is set within 17 acres giving your furry friends room to roam freely. There are also a number of dog friendly walks, dog friendly pubs and dog friendly beaches nearby which we are more than happy to point you in the direction of. Our dog friendly cottages come equipped with a comfortable bed, a dog bowl, biscuits and a towel. The only thing we ask is that you don’t leave your dog unattended, or allow them on furniture or upstairs and to clean up after them. We hope your dog enjoys its surroundings as much as you do. Bees We started bee keeping 2 years ago and brought our hives of bees with us to Devon. The plan is to expand our colonies to increase the number of these amazing and important creatures in our environment. Soak Up the Peace and Quiet One of the most delightful things about Lower Whitsleigh Farm, so our guests tell us, is the chance to really unwind. There’s something wonderfully relaxing about reconnecting with nature; watching the swallows flitting over the meadows or the bees buzzing in the flowers; hearing birds of prey high in the sky, watching the barn owls at dusk or gazing out over the fields. Come night- time, when the dark sky is punctuated with millions of stars, you’ll succumb to a deep and peaceful sleep.
We are centrally located between Dartmoor and Exmoor. • We had such a lovely stay for my Dads Birthday, absolutely beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly need and so spacious. We loved lighting the log burner in the evening especially after a day of being out in the rain (The dogs were very happy to have a snooze by the fire) Andy and family were so friendly and very quick to respond to messages which I appreciate. They let me take the Donkeys for a walk which was amazing and I got to see more of the beautiful North Devon Country Views whilst doing so, so a Win-Win. Thanks for such a lovely stay, love from the Stanton/Coupland Family. :)

  • We had a lovely stay, in a very beautiful location despite the rain! The house was clean, comfortable and safe for our two young children, bonus addition of toys and books to keep them occupied. Sam and Andy were very welcoming and gave great advice on local areas and things to do. We had a very relaxing mini break away, thank you. We would highly reccomend to others.

    Molly2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful weekend with our children and doggies, it felt like a proper home from home. Andy and sam were exceptional hosts, and could not of been kinder. The cottage was 5 stars alone ....add donkeys, the land, the hosts and you could not ask for better! The house was spotless and we felt comfortable from the moment we arrived at the front door, especially when we got in and lit the fire and used the blankets provided to snuggle up on the sofa. My mornings were amazing, having a cuppa and sharing some ginger nuts with daphne and delilah! Our only disappointment was that we couldnt stay longer! If you are reading this... BOOK ASAP! I promise u wont be sorry you did. I am already making plans for multiple returns! XOXO

    Kim2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My family had a wonderful stay. Sam and Andy were both lovely and they enjoyed meeting the dog and donkeys too! The barn is well equipped and a great amount of space for a large family. We will return in the future. Thank you!

  • Very wonderful property with very warm and charming hosts. Great space and location, just make sure you have a car with sturdy tires as the roads are a little pot-holey. Apart from that, great space and woukd recommend it highly.

The Hermitage is a 1 bedroomed self contained annex. Formally used as a glove factory in the 19th Century, the Hermitage was recently renovated to provide accommodation with a ground floor wet room, kitchen and lounge with multi fuel burner
The Hermitage is a beautifully coverted self contained annex with gorgeous lounge area with wood burner and open mezzanine area. There is one double bedroom with double bed but big enough for a travel cot or additional single bed. We have a single put you up bed available for those with young children. The annex is attached to the main house but completely self contained.
Torrington is a lovely little market town in the centre of the countryside. It is surrounded by 365 acres of common land which is beautiful for walking. The town has small local shops as well as a pannier market, The Plough theatre and cinema, swimming pool and Dartington Crystal. The Tarka Trail cycle path is a 3 minute drive which provides over 30 miles of almost flat cycling interspersed with cafes. There is also a cycle hire. The gorgeous beach at Westward Ho! is only a 30 minute drive and Dartmoor is only a 35 minute drive. RHS garden Rosemoor is a 3 minute drive. Our house is situated next to the Royal Exchange public house so perfect if you fancy a local ale or delicious home made pub food.
  • Lovely peaceful cottage in a beautiful garden with tea, coffee, milk and delicious scones all kindly provided! Perfectly located for exploring Torrington and the surrounding countryside. I'd love to return in the summer.

  • Amazing hospitality and such a fantastic place to stay. Will definitely be returning and also recommending.

  • A truly lovely place to stay. TJ and Adam were amazing and made it a home from home. Already book marked for 2020 holidays!

    Charlotte2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • TJ is a great host. She greeted me with a warm smile and took time to point out the essentials and help me get my bearings. Lovely to be gifted on arrival with a bottle of wine, snacks and a doggie chew for my little companion. The cottage is so cosy yet very stylish and comfortable. We cooked in the well equipped kitchen on a couple of evenings and lit the fire in the lounge to make it even cosier. On a wet day, all the board games were a welcome bonus. There is good parking and a delightful cottage garden to enjoy on the walk to and from the car park. Also a very short walk to a great place for dog walking. It's a great location to visit RHS Rosemoor and not too far from Exmoor and Dartmoor. I would definitely recommend it.

    Tony2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot praise The Hermitage, nor Tj and Adam as hosts enough. There was good communication in the lead up to our stay and concise directions to the property. We were met by our hosts in a torrential rainstorm and they helped unload our things. The snacks, drinks, and the milk were a lovely touch. The property itself has been tastefully renovated and decorated. The log burner was a lovely treat of an evening. We enjoyed playing some of the provided board and card games, and the air hockey table was a huge success with my girls. If you like cooking the kitchen has everything you need to knock up most things. Everything you could possibly want, or need is there for you. We will most definitely be returning sometime in the future.

  • What a cosy and memorable place ! We adored the wonderful garden ; the wood burner ; and the cream tea when we arrived A little gem !!

    Sue2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful quirky place with the most magical garden. Well equipped and thoughtful touches like the welcoming cream tea and snuggly blankets. Centrally located for sight seeing and amenities. TJ was a very welcoming host and nothing was too much trouble.

  • Had a great week with my wife and our puppy in May. TJ and Adam really looked after us, were really helpful, and the annex is a wonderful self contained cottage-like abode. Could have stayed there all month! Location is great for the forests and parks of Dartmoor, and the beaches of the North. Not to mention the local attractions - Tarka Trail, Bideford, and the Commonland surrounding the village. Would stay again. P.S. great scones

At Luckaborough Glamping, our charming shepherds hut is set in its own, self contained four acre field, on the highest part of the farm with stunning views across to Exmoor in the distance. With a wood burning stove for warmth, a fabulous outdoor area for dining and its own private wood fired hot tub, this is a romantic hideaway for two, or a cosy den for 2 x adults and 2 x kids.
The hut has a small kitchen inside and electricity for lighting, music and cooking. Just outside it has it's own shower and composting loo, recycling bins, picnic table, fire pit and there's a fridge in the shed next to it along with outdoor beanbag, cooking implements and pots for the fire pit. At the other end of the farm, we have 7 acres of private broad-leafed woodland to explore and a spring-fed swimming lake shared with the two other pitches on the farm. We provide a wheelbarrow of logs for the fires/hot-tub with each booking. If you need additional logs, there's a charge of £10 per barrow load and they can be picked up from the woodshed by the house.
While we're out in the countryside, there are shops 4 miles away in Torrington and it's only a short drive to the towns of Barnstaple and Bideford. Some of the best surf beaches in the south west are nearby, with Westward Ho, Croyde and Saunton all within a 30 minute drive.
  • Such a cute little oasis from it all! You have so much privacy which is great but Justin and Emma are so quick to respond if you need anything. Being in the hot tub and looking out at the stars was truly an amazing experience! It was unforgettable despite the rain which didn’t deter us! Would highly recommend and have already started planning our next stay!

    Tenisha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing gem!!! Absolutely loved The Shepherd’s Hut. Beautifully clean, with everything you need for a “get away from it all” break! My 18 month puppy was in heaven with a 4 acre garden to play in! The highlight for me was the hot tub..... truly fantastic!! Justin & Emma were the perfect hosts. Always on hand to help and advise if needed, yet left us to enjoy the spectacular scenery. The swimming lake and woods were lovely to walk around and even though the weather wasn’t particularly kind to us, it didn’t dampen our stay. I can’t wait to come back !!! Thank you so much J and Ems, it was just what the doctor ordered x

    Jo2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay! We barely left as between woodland walks, our own big open field and the al fresco hot tub there was so much to keep the whole family happy. It was magical! Ems and Jay were so hospitable and welcoming. The view from the hut is wonderful, and when seen from the hot tub- a really special experience. We were plenty warm enough in February, it’s very well insulated and heats up quickly.

Saunton Cottage is set in 16 acres of beautiful countryside with far reaching views across the valley looking over one of the 2 substantial lakes on the property. The words most often used by guests to describe the environment are serene and tranquil – a real escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. We have direct access to the renowned Tarka Trail via a private track in the grounds. You can walk to it without having to go on a road and then you are on a lovely 35 mile cycle/ footpath.
The house itself A 2 bedroomed cottage with large open plan living area downstairs and all of it beautifully equipped. For out of season breaks, the property benefits from gas central heating and an lpg log burner stove for cosy evenings in. Outside, there is an enclosed patio with far reaching views, perfect for al fresco dining. One bedroom has a king sized double bed and the other is a twin room. The king size bed can be converted to 2 twin beds if required. Please let us know if you would prefer this. The cottage is close to the owners’ farmhouse and one other holiday cottage, but thick stone walls mean sounds do not transfer between houses. Although we love getting away from modern day life, we recognise that guests need to be able to keep in touch and so there is fast wifi broadcast throughout the site with a “reasonable use” policy in place. We happily accept up to 2 dogs, although they will need to be on a lead at all times outside as there are sheep and lambs in the fields and dogs are not allowed upstairs in the house. Equipment Sitting Room •Open plan living, kitchen and dining areas. •One sofa and two armchairs. •Gas central heating and lpg log burning stove; direct access to enclosed patio •Flat screen tv with, dvd player and radio/ sound system, suitable for linking with mp3 devices Kitchen •Open plan with living and dining areas. •LPG hob, electric oven, grill and microwave •Fridge and freezer. •Iron and ironing board. Family Bathroom •Full length bath/shower etc. Outside •Enclosed patio area with a rattan table and four chairs. •Charcoal barbecue. Mountain bikes are available to hire by separate arrangement
Equidistant about 30 minutes from both the stunning North Devon and Cornwall coasts, as well as the northern parts of Dartmoor, the location has something for everyone, whatever your holiday preferences. Apart from glorious countryside and beaches, there are children's activity parks, boat trips to Lundy Island, horse riding and many other activities all within easy reach. This part of North Devon is quieter than the south coast with almost no traffic holdups and easy access to many beautiful places. Mountain bikes are available to hire by separate arrangement so you can explore further and particularly along the Tarka Trail.
  • Lovely cottage in beautiful countryside. The cottage was clean, modern, warm and well equipped. Mike and Christine were helpful and welcoming, the scones on arrival were very much appreciated after a long drive. The kitchen had everything required for a self catering stay. The back of the property leads down to the Tarka Trail which is great for some long scenic walks. Sadly the amount of rain recently made some of the routes difficult but we would very much like to return to continue our exploring at a later date. The local pubs are friendly and served great food, especially the Bull & Dragon. We loved our stay at Butstone Farm and would highly recommend for a peaceful, relaxing and tranquil stay.

    Nikki2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We have a fantastic time staying at the cottage. It is a lovely, cosy space and had everything we needed. The garden and ponds are also very peaceful - perfect for a country get away. The location is extremely peaceful and perfect for direct access on to the Tarka Trail. Communication was excellent and we had no trouble getting any info we needed and when we arrived, getting access to the cottage was seamless. We brought our dog Daisy with us and we found the cottage to be very animal friendly. We would definitely recommend and would happily stay again. Thanks!

    Hayley2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a stunning location. Mike's provided a great information pack with local suggestions for activities, pubs etc. Would recommend the Bull & Dragon for food.

  • Outstanding location, facilities. We had a fantastic week away and would highly recommend this for a peaceful week away

    Greg2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • It is a great apartment with outstanding facilities (dishwasher is missing) in the middle of nature. On the instructions for the arrival is to pay attention, maps manage, navis rather not. Old English style, a dream. Until the next pub is not far, to the next supermarket rather already. It is a fantastic Patz, we like to come back.

    Marco2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, great views from the balcony (although the vegetation is a touch tall this time of year) good for dogs, nice walk straight from the door. Clean and comfy beds!

    Sue2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Myself & partner loved every second of our cottage escape! Such an beautiful location, easy access to local walks & explorations. Mike was a brilliant host & accommodation our every need - including local suggestions, bike rentals & even fresh scones! Would highly recommend. MONKLEIGH COACHMANS COTTAGE OVERVIEW COACHMANS is a delightful self catering cottage situated through an archway in a cobbled courtyard in the grounds of Monkleigh village's old rectory, parts of which date back over 400 years. Although called COACHMANS COTTAGE it is in fact believed to have been the original bakehouse for the main house and the original bread oven is still in situ to the side of the wood burning stove. Coachman's can be found in a very peaceful situation on the edge of Monkleigh village and within easy walking distance of the friendly village inn, The Bell, which also serves great food. The house has extensive gardens of approximately 3 acres, plus a large wildlife garden with a large pond, an ideal spot to chill out and commune with nature. These are available to those occupying the cottage to enjoy. Garden furniture and a small charcoal barbeque are provided. Please note that these grounds are extensive and unfenced so children and pets will need supervision. This cottage is in a stunning rural location and forms part of the traditional cobbled courtyard setting of original buildings to the main house. It is compact and has a wood burner making it a cosy, romantic hideaway spot for two. Off road parking is available directly in front of the cottage. LIVING AREAS Within the level open plan social space the wood burning stove is a focal point, and provides ample cosy heat whatever time of year you visit, additional wood is provided free of charge and can be found across the courtyard. KITCHEN / DINING The cosy combined lounge/kitchen/dining room has exposed beams giving a rustic feel. The dining table and chairs seat two and on request a high chair can be supplied. A useful under stair cupboard contains such items including a vacuum cleaner, ironing board and brooms etc. The kitchen area has a modern built in electric cooker and hob, microwave oven and a very good selection of kitchen equipment. There is a freezer along with a washing machine and additional sink facilities in an adjacent building, the former dairy. BEDROOMS The cottage comfortably sleeps two adults in the spacious bedroom which has an antique double bed and dressing table. The natural wood floor and coverings add to the period feel and give a wonderful feeling of intimacy. A built in wardrobe ensures guests have ample storage space. The size of the room allows space for a travel cot. BATHROOMS Adjacent to the bedroom is the bathroom with a full size bath with hand held shower attachment. The wood effect laminate floor creates a feeling of warmth. For added convenience, a heated towel rail and electric shaver point have been provided. WALK TO - MONKLEIGH is a pleasant village on high ground immediately W. of the Torridge valley. There are fine views all over the parish. The church (St. George) is an interesting building, restored in 1862-3, with a splendid tower that is a landmark for miles around. The fabric was being rebuilt in 1423 when Sir William Hankford of Annery made his will, leaving money for the completion and maintenance of the S. aisle on condition that he and his heirs should have a burial place there.CYCLE TO - cyclists can enjoy the network of tranquil country lanes that weave throughout the lush green countryside. Whilst, Just a few miles away, access is available to over 30 miles of the Tarka Trail route between Braunton and Meeth. The trail, using the old railways of North Devon and passing through the largely unspoilt landscape, is safe for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Meanwhile, the miles of public footpaths make this a ramblers and mountain bikers paradise.DRIVE TO - The surrounding area has much to offer. Within driving distance is Atlantic Village outlet shopping centre, Tapeley Park, Instow, Appledore, The Big Sheep, Dartington Crystal, Clovelly, Bucks Mills, The Milky Way adventure park and the historic market town of Bideford with its open-air and pannier markets. Just a short hop over the Torridge is the large market town of Barnstaple with all high street conveniences, cinema, theatre, museums, and pannier market. • Perfect location for either a quiet relaxing stay, or if you want to explore North Devon there’s also plenty of things to do around the local area. Belinda and Will were very welcoming and were happy to provide helpful suggestions for what to do. An amazing stay!

  • We went for a spiritual retreat which ended up just being loads of relaxing and a lovely country walk!! Belinda and her entire family were absolutely great hosts. The space was clean and absolutely picturesque . Great communication with Belinda and her and her husband were at hand to make sure we had all we needed, they were very accommodating and helpful. We highly recommend staying here!

  • Belindas place is absolutely stunning. We had a great stay and completely relaxed in front of the log burner. All of the rooms are spotlessly clean and beautifully presented.

  • On arrival at Yatton Court we were greeted by Will, who showed us around our accommodation. The cottage was spacious, bright, airy and immaculately clean. The large lounge features a beautiful stained glass window, was warm and cosy and had the log burner already alight (thanks to Belinda’s thoughtfulness as the day had turned slightly chilly). We soon felt at home and started planning our days ahead using the wealth of maps and information supplied. Belinda was really great in suggesting local places to eat or to visit. She also pointed out the shortcut across their estate to the local pub avoiding walking down the main road to the village (the Globe Inn serves a fabulous Sunday lunch and is really welcoming and friendly. However, we would advise wearing walking boots and taking a torch if returning after dark as you need to locate the gap in the hedge to re-cross the stream!) The grounds of Yatton Court are extremely peaceful which resulted in a relaxing environment in which to chill out, paint, read and wander. It was also a pleasure meeting both of Belinda and Will’s children, their ponies Shammy and Lady, Ruby the dog and the cat. On the morning of our departure we were lucky to be able to see their gorgeous Dachshund pups which had been born overnight! We only wish we could have stayed longer - hopefully next time!
