Grafton Stone House can host 6+ people who don't mind a large, friendly, open floor plan and the country setting. The home is cozy, w/ many amenities including heated floors, outdoor areas, fireplace, well-stocked games, a skim worthy selection of books, and a fully stocked gourmet kitchen. Close to several ski slopes & great local towns. I have another listing added next door here: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/21797091
The stone house is a historic mountain chapel lovingly rehabbed into a home. The post and beam ceiling, stained glass lighting, and many other unique attributes make it a really special experience for guests. I can easily sleep 4-10 people who are close friends. The king bed on the main floor has lush curtains around it to create additional privacy and coziness.
The parks, nature, Peace P(website hidden), and accessible location to many places in the Berkshires as well as Troy and Albany make it a great place. Several ski slopes are close by, outlet shopping , great restaurants and museums.
  • The Stone House lives up to its reviews. We immensely enjoyed our quiet stay, which included some day trips to Vermont. Highly recommend!

  • My family and I had a extraordinary stay at the Stonehouse. As another reviewer mentioned, there really is a wow factor when you first walk in - the space is open and inviting, cool and eclectic and screams "relax here!" The wood stove is fantastic, the heated floors are a dream come true, the kitchen was equipped with the necessities, we had a great time playing some of the games there (especially table tennis!), and Michelle was super easy to reach and very responsive. We will definitely be back - if you'll have us!

  • Our host was amazing. She was very pleasant, she suggested areas to eat and was readily available anytime I messaged her. The listing was very accurate. The neighborhood was pretty desolate and quaint. We had to drive about half hour for restaurants and signs of life but we didn't mind. It was a beautiful drive!

    Andrea2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Stone House was absolutely beautiful! It was just like the photos and description on Airbnb. The fire was cozy, the bed comfy, very spacious, and eclectic decor. My husband, three month old, dog, and I all stayed for a weekend getaway from the city, and it was well worth it. One thing to mention: definitely buy food beforehand because the large supermarket is about 30 mins away. So it took up a lot of time on the Friday evening we got there. Other than that, no complaints! Highly recommend this place!

  • Michelle's home was amazing and a wonderful experience. The decor was so unique and the whole space was just breathe taking. The surrounding area is full of hiking and other activities and if you like good breakfasts, take Michelle's advice and go to the Blue Benn on Bennington for the best breakfast of your life. We had a great weekend and would stay there again in a heart beat. Michelle's hospitality and easy going attitude made the trip a great experience.

    Luke2015-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle was even more accommodating on our second visit! We were celebrating our dog's birthday and our 5 year anniversary and couldn't think of another place to spend a 3 day weekend than The Stone House. We were here in the summer and were able to enjoy much of the same amenities we did the first time around, including hikes with the pup at Grafton State Park and time walking around Troy. Michelle even left us with a nice heart ornament commemorating our anniversary. I have every intention of returning again and hopefully soon!

    Andrew2015-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Michelles house is very warm and cosy. We were there for 2 days and found it very comfortable. The contact was very nice and warm. We recommend it for friends and families. If we would come again, we would stay there. Thank you Michelle from germany

    Sibylle2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a quiet place with real personality to hide away for the weekend - and the Stone House was perfect. We could watch movies, play board games, listen to music, or quietly read a book - all while a fire burned warmly in the wood oven. And when it came time for food the kitchen was well-equipped, and included some basic necessities as well as some fun snacks. And when we did venture out, Grafton Lake State Park was minutes away (we happened to catch their annual Winterfest which was a lot of fun). This is a real hidden gem, and Michelle's communication and suggestions were spot on. We will definitely come back.

Welcome! The guest house boasts a modern contemporary look with a serene feel. It's close to Jiminy Peak, several parks, skiing, restaurants & pubs, beautiful downtown Bennington Vermont as well as Southern Vermont Medical Center & the Hoosac School. You’ll love it here because of the ambiance, the outdoor space, and the light. It's located next to the Little Hoosick River with a beautiful view in all seasons. My place is perfect for families, friends, couples, singles, and business travelers.
The guest house is roughly 600 square feet, comfortable for up to 4 people. There is an ambient electric fireplace heater in the living room, and an additional heater in the bedroom. AC in the summertime. Extra amenities include a BluRay/DVD player, full sized refrigerator, stove, microwave, Keurig, dishes, glasses and silverware. I provide clean sheets, towels and bath essentials as well. If you prefer to bring your own, please do. The house also comes with Direct TV and Wifi at no additional cost.
Nestled between the mountains and literally just a few feet away from the Little Hoosick River, this area is absolutely stunning. Since there are no street lights and almost no light pollution, on a clear night you can see the Milky Way. Great for star gazing or a relaxing night on the porch.
  • Kelly is a lovely host, was super easy and the comfy couch and TV area were great!

    Mandy 2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect place for a getaway!

    Rohit2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly has a cool place! We were only there for one night. The unit is attached to the main house, with a breezeway in between. There is a great view of the river from the kitchen area. Large couch and living room, with awesome DirectTV. The bed in the bedroom is a bit small, might be a twin bed.

    Osman2016-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy place with pretty woodsy scenery and a great view of the river. It was a little hard to find at first and the wifi can be spotty at times but the comfy couch, fluffy rug and Keurig make up for it.

    Joseph2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly was a wonderful host! Her home was very clean and cozy. She communicated everything very clearly and was very helpful with any questions or needs we had! I would definitely recommend! Thanks Kelly for such a wonderful stay!

    Lia2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly's place is cozy and picturesque!

    Kai2017-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly is great and the place is nice, the only issue we ran into was that when we plugged in two space heaters (it was an unusually cold day), we blew a breaker... twice. So don't plug in too many things, since everything seems to be on the same breaker. Other than that, it was lovely!

    Sean2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly's place is great! The modern furnishings really made the place feel like home. The couch is super comfortable! We ended up falling asleep on it, which was fine since the bed is on the hard side. The water in the back yard is a lot closer than you realize and it's so relaxing to hear it flowing.

My place is a small mid-century modern glass and wood cabin 200 yards away from a charming small lake. The house isn't on the lake itself, but you can use my canoe that is docked nearby. The only heat is a wood stove... so please be hearty and ready to stoke a fire if the weather is cold! This is a retreat for couples, solo adventurers, and families.
  • This cabin is the perfect place to unplug, breath in, and go for a cool refreshing swim. It has all the amenities I really appreciated on a retreat including a well equipped kitchen (pots, pans, knives, cutlery), a beautiful large tub, and an outdoor shower (note that this is the only shower). Beyond this the cabin itself is beautifully constructed and full of small details I found myself appreciating daily. The location aside, Igor & Todd were wonderful hosts and provided all the details we needed to settle in and get situated. All this said, this it is the middle of the woods so there are a fair amount of six-legged creatures in the surrounding area, although all the screen doors and windows left the house well sealed except for the occasional ant. I would suggest bringing a good bug spray if you intend on hiking. Suggestions for nearby : Lumberjack Coffee Fire watch tower (very short but neat hike and look out) Man of Kent (MOK)

  • Such a fun trip! It was definitely a unique experience living in a cabin with a 360 view of the outdoors for a few days. It was amazing waking up and seeing the outdoors all around you. The cabin was beautiful with all the necessities, our host even included firewood and brought us fresh produce (tiny tomatoes were the best I've ever tasted). There was even a separate small kids cabin, which we didn't use, but definitely looked like a cool place for kids. Kids' artwork in the cabin definitely gave the cabin that cozy homey feel. The porch outside was awesome for having breakfast outdoors. The lake was minutes from the cabin, our dog had a blast swimming and riding the canoe with us. Great area, people were friendly, just wish we found this place sooner! We hope to be back next year!

    Azalia2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is as amazing!! It was beautiful and clean. You feel like you're right in the trees. We hiked all day and stayed warm by a cozy fire at night. We would love to visit this cabin in the woods again someday.

    Esther2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Igor was an absolutely wonderful host and responded quickly to all of our emails! We loved the cabin and enjoyed taking the canoe out on the lake in the morning--would definitely stay at this place again!

    Briana2016-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Igor's place. It is a beautiful, open and light-filled space--it feels like a treehouse. Very private. It was cozy and had everything we needed. We especially loved the separate bunkhouse--it kept the main house quiet for us parents! It's a short walk to beautiful Babcock Lake and walking around the quiet road that rings the lake was very enjoyable. Thank you for sharing this wonderful space with us. I hope we can come back in the summer when it is warm enough to swim in the lake.

    Erin2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cute quiet and charming cabin if you are looking for a simple getaway!

    Ferris2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible stay at Igors cabin. The house is even more amazing than the pictures could show. Pulling up, the house looks like a tree house and the glass walls make you feel like you're sleeping outside. What an awesome experience! Would totally come back.

Babcock Lake is located within the Golden Ridge area and is noted for its breathtaking fall foliage This pristine lake is checked frequently for water purity and no gas powered boats are allowed on the lake which is stocked yearly with bass-a fisherman’s/fisherwoman’s heaven Enjoy relaxing on the patio. For those who want to explore the area, Babcock Lake is located near Bennington, VT; Williamstown, MA; Albany and Troy, NY. There's a lot to see and do.
. This is a great area for hiking, horseback riding, antiquing, live theater, wineries, golfing, The Saratoga Horse Races, covered bridge enthusiasts , star gazing, and more. You’ll enjoy visiting the gorgeous Peace Pagoda. Animal lovers really enjoy the Alpaca Shack and the Berkshire Bird Paradise. This is great place to stay. It’s a friendly rural closed community that especially likes and cares about the welfare of children and senior citizens-a kind and peaceful community. You’ll love it here.
  • Marcia was a fantastic host. Though we didn't meet her, I spoke with her several times on the phone and we were able to work everything out. She was very flexible about our arrival and departure and the place was just as it was described. She made sure the single most important thing was there waiting for us and simple to set up: good coffee with real 1/2 and 1/2 creamer! She was also very open and asked several times for any feedback at all that could further improve the experience of the stay. It was across from a lake, which was important to us (we had our yellow lab therapy dog with us and she loves swimming) and the path to the shore was right across the street. And it was what you expect from a lake-house: with quirky furnishings, and with plastic covers on mattresses and pillows to prevent mildew in the winter months. It was blissfully quiet and peaceful. We had come up for family weekend at a local college, and it was wonderful to find a place where we could take our freshman daughter and have her come stay the night with the rest of the family too, since her sister joined us as well. And it was a fantastic value. Not much of a town, but we ordered Papa's pizza from Petersburg town center (that might BE the town center!) and it was quite serviceable. (By the way, she also left a lot of info on different attractions in the area, which she wrote out and described in detail. (not just touristy brochures -- a nice touch.) I noticed each room has its own air conditioner. We didnt need it but what a nice thing in the heat of summer. Be careful if you are unsteady on your feet; one of its quirks is that almost every room is a step up or step down and the height of the steps vary. Also, they have very hard water, I think, which Marcia has addressed with a fantastic Berkley filtration system for drinking water. I was not surprised; we always bring water ourselves when we go to lake houses because sometimes the water actually COMES from the lake (that's how our own camp is set up in Maine; this was a luxury :)

    Cate2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia was a great host. She left us a long note explaining everything and everything was exactly as described in the listing. This is a great place to go if you want to get far away from everything, and I mean far away there's really nothing that close nearby other than a nice lake and some beautiful walking trails.

    Fredda2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia's cabin in the woods is a gem. It was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, and a great meeting place for our long time friends. We can't wait to stay again!

    Arianna2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia’s place was wonderful! It was a very clean, comfortable, and lovely home. There was more than enough of everything and extra supplies here and there. We had a toddler and a small dog with us and the home and location was just perfect for walks and enjoying nature. Thanks for such a great experience!

    Mylinh2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a quiet place to stay to relax, this is it. The home was clean and fully stocked with everything you could need and more. The beds were comfortable and even had a plastic (allergy) covering on the mattresses which was nice. The backyard was nice sized and allowed my dogs a place to play. There is no cell service but the wifi worked perfectly and allowed for iMessages to go through. There is a landline as well. Marcia was there when we arrived and very sweet. She wanted to be sure everything was in order for us after our long trip. The letter left explained everything and answered any questions I may have had. We would love to stay here again on our next trip to visit family!

    Jessica2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia's place is quite beautiful in a quiet neighborhood surrounding a lake. The place is cozy with three bedrooms. Everyone slept well except for on the bunk bed, the mattress were squeaky and you could feel the springs. Marcia contacted us to make sure we were doing well, which was appreciated. No trouble getting access to the house. We had full run of the house including laundry and kitchen.

    Austin2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia's place is so quiet and peaceful. It's an amazing getaway for anyone how seeks privacy and a rural atmosphere.

  • We had a lovely weekend at Petersburg . Marcia had left all the instructions clearly in a lovely letter which was very helpful. The posting is very accurate. Some of trails around the house was beautiful and it's worth exploring . Will definitely recommend this place.

  • A cozy secluded cabin right near a lake. We loved staying here, and it was a good chance to get away from it all and get out onto nature. The house itself was simple and quaint. Driving around petersburg at this time of year was very beautiful with the mountains and unbelievable foliage all around. We had tons of hiking trail around us, and were close enough to VT to make a quick exploration trip there. Back at the cabin, the yard was plenty big enough to play lawn games, and at night we built a fire and then played board games. Such a great stay!

  • The place couldn t be best located. It s near the fishing pier of the lake, near the beach but, at the same time, very quite. So good having the boat and can be using as a transportation for visiting the nice people from the comunity. The house is very well arranged with everything we need, nothing less, nothing more, just what we need. That is perfect.

  • Whimsy Cabin was great! It was clean and stocked with plates/lots of sleeping space/kayak+canoe/ and on and on. The lake access for kayaking and canoeing was really close-by. There was a big yard with a bonfire that's a good space to relax. Michael's dad came by to check on us after a bad late night rainstorm--all around great experience.

Doug was a very communicative and welcoming host who told me about local attractions such as Mass MoCA, the Clark, Williams College Museum, hiking, and so much more. The Wifi was very fast and reliable which allowed me to get work done in a comfortable, quiet, yet spacious setting. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a unique and cozy place to stay any time of the year.

My hilltop home on 36 acres has a fabulous view, and borders the Hopkins Forest. It is two miles from Williams College, the Clark Art Institute, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival. I offer a tranquil woodlands setting, Adirondack chairs on the deck, perfect for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Wild turkeys, deer, and bears can be seen passing through the garden. Countless Hummingbirds humming, Chipmunks chipping and the owls hooting hauntingly through the night.
Situated on the ground level of a three level home, the guest room has a very comfortable queen size bed, and generous closet space. Your private bathroom with a shower, is not en suite. This level is entirely private and you have the facility to make tea and coffee. There are Adirondack chairs on the decks for relaxing , reading, writing and watching the wild life. During the cold months there is a roaring fire in the living room. My house is 2.2 miles from the Williams College Campus. It is accessible in winter only if you have a four wheel drive car. The trusty Subaru is best!
This is a highly academic and artistic corner of the Berkshires. Williamstown attracts thousands of visitors throughout the year. Attractions include The Clark Art Institute, The Williams College Museum of Art, and good restaurants. MassMoca is 15 mins away, historic Bennington, Vermont, is 30 minutes away. Tanglewood is 45 minutes away and Barrington Stage productions in Pittsfield, are not to be missed!
  • We had absolutely the best possible experience staying with Ginny. She is a wonderful host who exudes warmth, generosity and humor. We had some fascinating conversations with her, and she made us feel very welcome. Her home is lovely and the view is beautiful. The location of her home was very convenient for attending the Williamstown Theatre Festival and visiting The Clark museum (both were excellent). We had two great dinners in Williamstown (at Hops and Vines, and Mezze). All around a great stay, and we look forward to returning. Thanks Ginny!

  • We had a great time staying at Ginny’s place. We enjoyed the breathtaking view and the breakfast was delicious and filling. Ginny went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. The best kept secret in Williamstown! We look forward to returning.

  • Our host was so welcoming! We had tea on our arrival. She was interested in our travel plans and getting to know us. She shared stories of her world travels and also gave us great informaton about the local area and its history. Her continental breakfast was just right and we had everything we neede for a comfortable stay. A GREAT first airbnb experience for us.

  • Ginny is a very accommodating host with a beautiful, secluded home. The bed is comfy, the bathroom is private and modern, the breakfast was filling and the home is cozy. Ginny is friendly and worldly...you'll probably learn a thing or two from her. A great experience and the best value you can find in the Purple Bubble.

  • My wife and I stayed at Ginny's place for a summer weekend while spending time in the Berkshires. The location was quite lovely in a peaceful, quiet area on a hill overlooking Williamstown. The views from the property were absolutely wonderful! Though more importantly, Ginny was a most excellent host! One of the absolute treats of our weekend was spending hours chatting with Ginny about things far and near, the conversations were delightful!

    Ron2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ginny's generous hospitality and lovely, antique-filled home made for a delightful weekend stay. From the many neatly folded towels, to local recommendations and tales of her international travels, to the on-tap (and delicious!) coffee bar and tasty morning treats, she surpassed our expectations at every turn. The house was beautifully situated yet close to town, the room spacious and sunny with luxurious views. We'd happily stay here again, or just drop by for tea.

Ground floor apartment in converted barn complex. Comfortably sleeps 6 (4 adults maximum). The seasonal pool, courtyard for BBQs and large yard are outside the door, perfect for everything from croquet to snow forts. Conveniently located where NY, MA and VT meet so there's no end to the activities in the area. Get access to our website listing these activities after booking. Rates start at $135 per night. Note: We have a very strict definition of "partying" as well as enforced quiet hours.
Our 1100 sq ft apartment is decorated like a private home, is cool in the summer, and warm and cozy in winter. It features a complete kitchen, living/dining room, bath/laundry, bedroom with queen bed, and sleeping alcove with king bed. It also has a double sleep sofa. There is an enclosed brick courtyard for outdoor dining with a BBQ grill.
Rural Village setting on a main thoroughfare extremely convenient to Williamstown, Bennington and points west. Up at the top of the hill next door is a wonderful Vermont Farm of Distinction, called appropriately enough "Hilltop Farm" belonging to the Gardner family. Marilyn loves visitors and you can buy eggs, raw milk, organic beef, honey and maple syrup there. The view across the valley from there is included in our photos. The Pownal Valley has been painted extensively for the past two centuries. Artists like Georgia O'Keefe and Norman Rockwell have created paintings here, as well as students and instructors from the Art Students League of NY. The latter maintained a summer boarding house across from our barn for many years. We are just 6 miles from either Bennington or Williamstown, Ma. The museums, Mass MoCA and the Clark, draw visitors from around the world. Bennington College, Williams College and Southern Vermont college are nearby. The numerous attractions in the Berkshires are nearby as well. Good food abounds, and here's a partial list of our favorites with more on our website: Mezze, US Rte 7, Williamstown MA - $$ farm to table. Excellent. Our place for occasions and celebrations. Your Belly's Deli, Pleasant St., Bennington Great sandwiches, salads and soups. Man of Kent, Middle of Nowhere, NY - pub food, great burgers. N. on US Rte 7 one block, left onto N. Pownal Rd., right onto Rte 346, right onto rte 22, left onto NY Rte 7, 1 mile on left. Freight Yard Pub, North Adams MA. Pat says this is the best burger she’s ever had. Call them for directions. It’s hard to find Madison’s Brew Pub, Main St, Bennington VT. Our go-to casual place. Great food. Blue Ben Diner, US Rte 7, Bennington VT - don’t miss this. Authentic style diner. People come from far away for this one. Papa Pete’s, Bennington VT - great breakfast. On Rt 9 East about a mile out of town. Cash only Avoid at all costs: Casual Corner, Chef's Hat both in WIlliamstown MA
  • The hosts are very warm and nice. They left a smores kit, which was a hit with our kids. We want to come back in the warm weather to enjoy the pool, but the fall foliage was beautiful. Lots of space--a great place.

  • We had a great time staying in Pownal! It was a beautiful weekend, and we loved getting to sit by the pool, use the hot tub, and eat our meals on the porch outside. It was a perfect setup for a girls' weekend with lovely views, comfortable beds, and full stocked kitchen. It was very close to the town of Bennington and hiking that was all very enjoyable.

    Rebecca2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect place!!! My family and I hope to return soon : )

    Alyssa2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for 2 nights while attending a nearby music festival. It was clean and worked perfectly for us. We never had a chance to meet Pat but she was very responsive to all our questions.

    Clare2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The owners are new to Airbnb so some of the initial communications was a bit confusing at times. A few hours before arriving I was informed that the property manager would leave a key for us and would stop by the next morning to "check-in" since we would be arriving late. The property manager did stop by the next day to show another person who was considering staying at the barn. A minor disturbance but nothing crazy.  Morning of our visit, I had to call the owners to give them my credit card info over the phone in order for them to collect VT taxes (additional 9%). Didn't realize this when booking. The entire place is definitely in need of a dehumidifier and has a very strong mildew smell. It's also a bit dark and cold at times despite having all the shades up and lights on. The low ceilings can make it a bit clastrophobic as well. I'm 5'11" and almost hit my head a few times. The unit is located right off of Rt 7 which is nice because you can easily get around. That said, it's very close to the main road and if you're looking for complete silence, this is not for you. There is another unit upstairs and you can very clearly hear all footsteps which may or may not be an annoyance to you. It appears there used to be an ice cream shop and an art gallery attached to the unit, however, it was never open during our stay. This may throw you off if you're trying to find the unit entrance as it it located around the back right side of the barn. The pool is a nice addition although we weren't able to enjoy it because it was too cold. There is a solar heating cover that should be used if you're really wanting to take a dip. We didn't use the kitchen as we ate out for every meal so I can't comment on that. All in all I would say this apartment is in a good location that makes it easy to get around if you plan on spending most of your time doing outdoor activities. The place is very nicely decorated and they have a very impressive VHS collection of my favorite movies from the 80s and 90s. Thumbs up on that. Good luck!!

    Jeff2015-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Check in was painful, had to play phone tag with the owners and their property manager. I paid all the listed fees up front with Air B&B and was later told they needed my credit card for VT taxes and extra Pet fees not mentioned in the property listing. I don’t like being nickel and dimed, particularly with all the fees I paid up front but they keep bugging me asking for my credit card. Weird experience. I asked them to waive the double fees since I work for an non-profit org and they said they would, but ended up calling employer trying to collect their fees and nearly got me fired. This unit is a basement apartment nicely decorated and was a little mildewy. The “Art” gallery in the description is closed down. There was an ice-cream shop on premise that was also closed down. Except some issues some issues dealing with these folks, good luck with this one.

    J2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • The home is as described. We enjoyed our stay and left feeling relaxed and refreshed. Highly recommend! The pool was refreshing and our kids loved it.

    Beth2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was overall a disappointing rental for us. The unit itself was clean, well decorated, and the king size bed in the alcove was very comfortable. Privacy was our biggest issue. The owners were there constantly. There was also this random "groundskeeper" hanging around the property. The first morning I found him right outside our rental appearing to be painting something with a paintbrush and no bucket of paint. Odd. Also, this rental is 1 of 2 units with the other being the main house right above our heads. There was a family of 4 renting the main house. It would have been helpful to mention the second unit in the Airbnb listing. There's a hot tub listed as well. This is very misleading because the hot tub is clearly for the main house renters, considering it's right outside their balcony entrance. What we also had issue with was that the property was not fully prepped for our arrival. There was landscaping and pool cleaning being done the first full day of our stay. When we arrived back from our hike the pool was still being worked on and so we had to wait 2 hours for it to be ready for use. This was after 5 PM so obviously our window to enjoy the only sunny day of the weekend was mostly gone. The point is, this was Memorial Day weekend 3-night rental (which we're paying top-dollar for) and all of these duties should have been done during the week prior to our arrival. Lastly, the decision to host a bond fire, right outside our sleep alcove window, on the Saturday night, was a poor one. We have used Airbnb many times in the past and never did we have owners hang around and leisurely use the property at our expense. It's inappropriate. On the surface, the idea of hosting a bond fire with s'mores seems nice. I'm sure the family of 4 appreciated it, but at the end of the day my fiance, dog, and I wanted privacy which finally came at 10:30 PM Saturday night. The whole point of this rental was for a nice, quiet, PRIVATE, Memorial Day weekend... it was anything but.

We are .5 mile from downtown Williamstown and Williams College, .9 miles to The Clark Art Institute, and 12.9 miles to Jiminy Peak Mountain. The guest bedroom (which is the only bedroom on the first floor) was recently painted and gets nice light from three windows on two sides. There is a closet and dresser in the room. The private bathroom is right outside the guest room.
The guest bedroom is downstairs right next to a private bathroom. We are happy to provide a pack and play in the bedroom if anyone is traveling with a baby/toddler.
If you walk through our backyard, you are in a lovely residential neighborhood with quiet roads that lead into town or to hiking trails at Hopkins Forest.
  • This is a perfect room to stay in when visiting Williams or Williamstown area in general. A lovely family with two sweet children. Could not have been better and I will without hesitation stay here again whenever I return.

  • Mike and Meg are a lovely young couple with small children. They have a very sweet dog that greeted us when we arrived. They also have a shy cat that stayed outside. Their home is quite lovely and VERY CLEAN!!! Our bedroom was spacious with a very comfortable bed. It was right next to our own private bathroom. It was a delightful stay and would I highly recommend staying here if your travels take you to the area. You will not regret it!

  • Megan and Mike are lovely people, gracious and helpful hosts and the room is comfortable and private. Their dog is super sweet, and their kids are adorable. The weekend traffic wasn't bad, but Monday morning the road was rather noisy and woke us up. Other than that, it was a great stay! Thanks for having us!

  • Mike and Megan’s house is a gorgeous place with such a tasteful decor and spacious living area! Their warmth and friendliness is what makes it a beautiful home where you truly feel welcome and not just a tolerated guest. I had a wonderful time with them. The best feature of the house is the convenience of its location! If you’re planning on visiting Williams College this is the place to be! You’re right outside the university! I am definitely going back to Mike and Megan’s for my next trip to williamstown!

Gorgeous Barn Home, created from a 1930's dairy barn renovated into a unique residence with chef's kitchen, lap pool, hot tub, balcony for outdoor grilling and dining, mountain views. Conveniently located in the village of Pownal Center where VT/MA/NY meet. Enjoy everything from Agritourism to Sarasota Racetrack to Jacob's Pillow & Tanglewood to world class museums to outlet shopping, to superb hiking and river boating. Paid guests have access to our website with scores of area activities.
This is our former home and is actually a portion of a 10,000 sf renovated barn complex which includes our former studio and gallery now closed, separate guest quarters, as well as ample areas for outdoor living with pool, patio and large yard. This is a really unique space. The original barn was converted to retail in the 60's and included 7 stained glass windows rescued from an old church in Whitehall, NY. When we completely renovated we left these gorgeous windows alone. Our renovation added a fabulous kitchen and bathroom, deck with hot tub, courtyard and pool, dining room, family room and what we call the "bunkhouse room". We also added air conditioning and a gas fireplace for winter coziness. The photos will tell the story better than my words can ever do. There are sleeping accommodations for 8 people but we do not rent to six or over adults as it would overtax the septic and hot water systems.
Rural village setting but extremely convenient to Williamstown, Bennington and points west. Up at the top of the hill next store is a wonderful working farm with iconic views belonging to the Gardner family. Marilyn loves visitors and you can buy eggs, raw milk, honey, maple syrup, and organic beef and pork. The view across the valley from there is included in our photos. The Pownal Valley has been painted extensively for the past two centuries. Artists like Frank Mason, Georgia O'Keefe and Norman Rockwell have created paintings here, as well as numerous other students and instructors of the Art Students League of NY. The latter maintained a summer boarding house across the street from our barn for many years. We are just 6 miles from either Bennington or Williamstown, MA. The museums, Mass MoCA and the Clark, draw visitors from around the world. Bennington College, Williams College and Southern Vermont college are nearby. There are numerous attractions in the adjacent Berkshires as well. Note to renters: 99% of our guests love staying here and return and recommend us to their friends. The other fraction of a percent have a problem with rough-hune barn boards, slightly out-of-square or out-of-plumb angles, windows not designed to open, an occasional mouse "leave-behind", the proximity to a road (hey, where else would you put your barn), and any number of other observations. It is not some architectural masterpiece. This is our former home which we designed into a funky residence that maintains a barn-like flavor. If these things bother you please do not rent from us! We depend on good reviews and a good rental season to cover the costs of owning this rural treasure.
  • Great kitchen, had everything they said it had! Caretaker is great! Would definitely stay here again. Bigger place then pictures lead you to believe! Slept 5 of us with plenty of space to each do our own thing.

  • Our stay at Pat and Gabe's property was wonderful. The space is beautiful and cozy with all of the comforts of home (and then some!). Pat, Gabe, and Lisa were all readily available to answer any questions we had, or help deal with any issues that arose. It was a great opportunity to unplug, explore a new area, and enjoy the beautiful state of Vermont! Would stay again without question.

    Ashley2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • All I can say is wow! What a place. Absolutely spectacular. Everything was thoughtfully supplied. The place is just stunning. We had a fantastic time for our 8 day trip. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the washing machine was broken during our stay (but his repairman's daughter was getting married.... so good excuse). And heed the warning he gave us about the nails in the floor! You will love your stay here. My only regret is we didn't get to spend more time.

    Michael2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Pat's place. The location was perfect-- close to museums and hiking trails. Lots to explore in neighboring towns. The hot tub was great at the end of a tiring day.

    Phyllis2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pat and Gabe's house in Pownal is amazing. We like to look for large (we live in a very small two-bedroom in NYC), interesting homes in which to stay and which our kids (and us) will think is really cool-- and this house fits the bill. The description is quite accurate, and definitely downplays the kitchen, which is one of the more amazing kitchens I have ever seen. As it says in the description, technically it is a one bedroom, though the largest one bedroom home I could imagine, but sleeping 6 was not a problem. The A/C and ceiling fans keep the place cool-- and if it is hot you can always go for a swim (there was nobody in the other apartment while we were there so I can't speak to the experience of sharing it with another family). It is a great place to sit and read-- and I've also been thinking it would be a good place to go in the off-season just to get writing done. We've spent entire summers in the Berkshires, and have vacationed there for 11 years. It is a great place to visit, and we'd definitely stay at Pat and Gabe's again. Pat and Gabe were very easy to deal with and I did not experience any problems of accessibility-- and the 9% tax that a couple of other reviews mentioned is clearly listed in the description. I just wish we had more time to stay there.

    Jonathan2015-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What an amazing experience. This place is a design and architectural gem. The unit is spectacularly located with tons of areas to explore nearby. The unit was well-equipped, spacious, aesthetically pleasing, and extremely clean when we arrived (bonus: beds were extremely comfy!). Our favourite was sitting in the hot tub under the stars! Pat was extremely communicative and very accommodating throughout the booking process and our entire stay. If you are heading to Vermont anytime soon, stay here - you won't regret it!

    Matthew2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • The converted barn is an architectural gem right on Rt 7 not far south of Bennington. The kitchen and bathrooms are stunning yet understated. Large dining table, two living rooms, plenty of space. Bring your own spices etc for cooking. Lisa the caretaker was friendly, chatty, eager to help. Three of us (including Lisa) tried to light the gas oven and couldn't, though Pat says on her return she had no trouble. Master bedroom had comfortable bed. Putting aside our oven mystery, I'd say it is a superb place to stay if you are visiting Bennington.

    Heather2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just like the photos! My family and I stayed here for Christmas holiday and it was so warm and cozy. The barn is beautiful! We had 5 people staying and it was more than enough room for us. The kitchen is well equipped. The bathroom even has heated floors! The location was great and there were a lot of trailheads closeby, but we ended up playing board games (which there were quite a few at the house!) and watching holiday movies. Thank you Pat for a great Christmas!

  • Jackie's place is a work of art. The white cedar walls, beautiful colors and cozy down comforters above her pottery studio were so relaxing. I enjoyed the plunge pool and time to talk with Jackie. It is located in the Vermont hills and not too far from Bennington College were I was visiting my son. It made for a wonderful retreat. I am looking forward to returning as soon as I get a chance. Jennelle Winter

  • I loved staying here. It is a drive from any town (but it's a green green drive!), and the Francis room is small ( but there's a big window!), but it's worth it. The burden of thinking about kitchen basics while traveling is alleviated by the well- stocked kitchen in the shared space in the loft of the workshop. Checking in was easy and the rooms are secure, the loft is airy and bright with books of stories from around the world. Jackie is friendly and likes to meet the guests. I didn't have time to take advantage of the trails or ceramic lessons. I recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

  • I had a wonderful stay in Doug's downstairs suite last time I was in the area so I came back with a few friends this time to try the upstairs suite. It was just as lovely as the downstairs and more than spacious enough for me and my five friends. We were able to use the fully equipped kitchen to cook a meal to eat in the beautifully decorated dining room. The beds were comfy and everyone enjoyed a full nights rest. We would definitely recommend this 5 star place.

  • Beautiful place, very clean and exactly as advertised. Just no living room. Thanks for opening it up to us, will recommend to others!!

  • Jackie, Tim and Leo's guest house is a very warm and comfortable place to stay. The surroundings of the house are perfectly silent and quiet. The kitchen is the main room of the house and is practical and well furnished. The house is not private, as Jackie uses the lower level as her studio, but it's not a problem at all ! All the members of the family were very thoughtful and did their best to accommodate us and respect our privacy. We felt so welcome ! Thank you for this great stay

Babbling brook sounds float into every room of this riparian cottage, which are especially soothing when you're falling asleep. This private neighborhood location is within walking distance to theater, museums, shopping, and restaurants — just a stone's throw to Williams College, The Clark Art, Williamstown Theatre Festival and a short drive to MASS MoCA, Mount Greylock hiking. The cottage is always clean, cozy, and welcoming — you'll feel like you're visiting a friend. Coffee included.
This house is super comfortable, with everything you'll need exactly where you'd expect to find it. With two queen queen bedrooms and a generous single futon on the river porch, it's ideal for a single traveler, small family, a couples' retreat or up to 5 guests.
McCauley Lane is a dead end street situated on the banks of Hemlock Brook. The brook tumbles through my back yard. The houses are quite close, but also extremely private. The neighborhood is "down past the Williams Inn" — about 4 blocks to the theater festival, and about six blocks to campus / Williamstown center. Obviously I'm biased, but I'm also quite certain, that this is the best neighborhood in the whole entire town.
  • Jodi's home was wonderfully clean and quaint!

  • Wonderful home in williamstown. We set out to hike to the top of mt greylock and Jodis place was a perfect location near to the mountains and near restaurants. Beautiful river in the backyard and nice rooms. Great experience!

  • Jodi has a very lovely cottage and it's wonderful that she opens it up to guests. Our trip to Williamstown was a busy one, but after we arrived all we wanted to do was hang out at the cottage. This place is a gem!

  • This cottage was absolutely perfect for a little retreat. It was extremely comfortable and well appointed. The neighborhood is great and we enjoyed being able to walk to The Clark and into town. Jodi was an awesome host, making us feel welcome and orienting us to Williamstown. She made everything about our stay easy. I highly recommend this spot.

  • Comfortable home, well appointed and equipped, near enough to the stream in the back to hear the water running by. Easy walk into Williamstown (Spring Street) and the college, ample parking space. We came for a College golf event, so the two bedroom and bathrooms were great. Also had my 14-year old son sleep in the futon on the main floor off the kitchen. All the cooking supplies one would need are there, and very comfortable sitting room on the main floor. Highly recommend!

  • Great place. Well designed and furnished. Had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Especially appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, cloth napkins and placemats, storybook setting (adjacent to river and steep hillside--cover d in snow during our visit). The house is very cozy, with comfortable sofa and beds. Jodi was a great communicator, gave us lots of detailed advice for enjoying the area. Would definitely return here.!!

  • Jodi's place was perfect for our Berkshire getaway. Very conveniently located near downtown Williamstown, and near rt 2 and rt 7 for easy accessibility to other destinations in the Berkshires. Her house was lovely, clean, and comfortable. Felt like a home away from home!

  • Jodi has a lovely home. It is spotless and comfortable. I loved reading in the morning, looking out at a flowing brook. Her house is conveniently located to restaurants, museums and hiking trails. We feel very lucky that Jodi offered up her house for our overnight stay.

Come experience my converted barn in Southern Vermont! I love this place and really want my guests to as well! It has an open concept living layout. My decorating style is minimalist meets antique lover meets shabby chic meets, natural light, meets old wood, meets soho loft... Up the hand hewn staircase you find a stained glass sliding barn door! The top deck overlooks the fenced in backyard. Kids and animals are of course welcome.
5 miles to Williamstown Theater Festival, Williamstown, MA 9 miles to Mass MoCA, North Adams, MA 9 miles to Bennington, VT
The barn is directly off of route 7 so it's very easy to get to! It's such a relief for me to arrive home after traveling in cities to a quiet and peaceful property! My brother and his wife live next door which is great piece of mind for me, no other neighbors. Country living for sure!
  • The place was as beautiful as advertised. The walk to the scenic view is definitely worth it.

  • Kate's place is beautiful, secluded, and a perfect getaway destination. Also close to a couple great small towns with some great museums (The Clark is amazing), cute restaurants, and tasty breweries. Kate was a great host with loads of great recommendations and made sure checking in and out was easy.

  • Kate was a fantastic host, and our stay was perfect as we had hoped! We had some reservations prior to booking and Kate went above and beyond by offering her suggestions of all of her favorite spots like lake beaches, boating, hiking and local eateries. Her place was adorable and clean and although the barn is located on route 7, it is so quiet at night and feels super secluded! We will be back for sure Thank you Kate!!

  • I can't say enough great things about our time at Jackie and her family's place. first, the building itself has been lovingly restored, and is in a amazing location with killer views. the smell of wood instantly hits you, and you know you're in for a treat. I love how you can peek into the studio, and check out the wares for sale. you go up the stairs and into a sweet kitchen with everything you could possibly need. it really is a place for artists to stay whilst they are taking a workshop, so we were grateful the workshop was over on Sunday. there are 3 rooms available, which can each fit 3 people; we were 2, and I thought the room was big enough. the only drawback is that there is only one bathroom, but it didn't pose a problem. Also, it may be tough for light sleepers since you could hear people opening/closing doors, etc. I love how Jackie interacts with her guests; if I was doing this, I would want to know who was staying in my place as well, and I imagine many interesting people come through her place. She is definitely one of the most gracious hosts I have had the pleasure to meet at an Airbnb, and I really hope we can make it back this winter. She gave us amazing chard and other veggies from her garden, we met her dogs, and just had such a nice time. We even took an extremely cold dip in this crazy amazing silo pool her brother n her built; I highly recommend! Anyway, thanks again Jackie, and see ya in the future!

  • Jackie's guesthouse is a gem. 2 friends I stayed together in a room, and the other rooms were also booked while we were there, but it never felt crowded. The kitchen was fabulous. We loved being able to cook together and have a meal with Jackie's beautiful ceramics. It's so sweet of Jackie to have eggs available so that we could make some scrambled eggs for breakfast. All the tea and coffee were also greatly appreciated. I definitely recommend the guesthouse for travelers who enjoy the feel of a cabin in the woods, but with all the conveniences of a home like a hot shower, comfortable beds, and a gas stove.

    Judy2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay! Jackie's place is very clean, comfortable, and relaxing.

  • Jackie's studio is an ideal getaway. I was visiting family in Bennington and found it be a comfortable space with well-designed features. Although I didn't get a chance to meet Jackie in-person, she provided clear and thoughtful directions that made my arrival easy and my stay a pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay there again on my next visit.

  • Loved staying in Jackie's guest house and only wished we had been able to stay longer. It's a few miles off the highway and thus very quiet and pretty, but still close to Williamstown and Bennington. The amenities are basic, but done beautifully--simple wood furniture, simple furnishings, but a very comfy bed (with reading lights!), lots of hooks for hanging up towels and jackets, wifi that worked surprisingly well for the middle of nowhere, and handmade ceramics in the kitchen, which also had basic breakfast supplies we could use (but sadly didn't have time to). There was a bit of a traffic jam in the morning at the sole bathroom, but all of the guests were polite and took turns (and quick showers), which honestly gave me more time to drink tea out of one of Jackie's lovely mugs and peruse her table of wares downstairs... so it's not a real complaint. All in all, I would love to come back for longer and hope I have the opportunity soon!

    Andrea2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had an amazing experience at Jackie's place. We were intrigued by the adventure of driving to the end of a dirt road towards the unexpected and were so pleasantly surprised! Everything was as described on the profile. The accommodations were simple, clean and exactly what we needed. The shared bathroom and kitchen were clean and spacious and pleasant. We shared a quiet room with our daughter who slept on the top bunk bed, and we shared breakfast and conversation around a large table with other guests. We even scrapped other plans for the day in favor of staying on the property longer to hike, swim in the silo pool and picnic. We finished the day in Jackie's pottery studio and left with beautiful souvenirs! The peace and beauty of the area was a welcome break from our busy lives and Jackie's hospitality was heartwarming and inspiring.

  • We had a fantastic time during Christmas at Vince's house. It was spacious, clean and close to the college. He even went out and got us a Christmas tree for the living room!! He was very easy to get in touch with and we had no problems checking in and out. We highly recommend this spacious house for a fun trip to the Berkshires.

    Sona2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Vince's beautiful, antique filled home. We were visiting our daughter who attends Williams College and the location was perfect. Several other family members also stayed at the house which was large enough to accommodate all of us comfortably. The outdoor patio and pool were beautiful, and we enjoyed the jacuzzi as well. All in all it was perfect and also a very good value! We wish we could stay there again when our daughter graduates next year; unfortunately (but not surprisingly) the house is already booked.

    Bonnie2016-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We have spent 3 fabulous nights at Vince's place. Fully-stocked kitchen, cozy library, beautiful common space with fireplace (that was our favorite place to hang out and play games) - everything was beyond our expectations. We fell in love with master bedroom. It is huge, has lots of light. The rest of the bedrooms are also neat and spacious. The whole house is all about details, however it doesn't seem like it is overloaded with decoration. We enjoyed the stay a lot and would love to come back sometime.

    Alena2017-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I spent a wonderful Thanksgiving at Vince's place in Williamstown. The house was like a home away from home and Vince went the extra mile to make sure we had all the comforts of home. The hot tub and theater room were a very special touch, and we enjoyed evenings by the fire. The kitchen was perfect for the cooking of our Thanksgiving meal and the following breakfasts, lunches and dinners. The location was very convenient to Mt Greylock and Mass MOCA. We would definitely consider a return trip in the future.

  • House was wonderful. Host was very communicative. It is large home and can easily accommodate a large group of people. Can easily sleep 12 people. Layout, location, cleanliness, amenities - all were a 6 on a 1-5 scale.

    $350 The Perfect Getaway!

Our town is the home of prestigious Williams College and the Williamstown Theatre Festival as well as the Clark Art Institute. We have many cultural events and there are many more within a 1 hour drive. There is a lot of skiing both downhill & Cross Country. There are 3 rooms 1 queen size room for $100.00 the other 2 rooms are $50.00 each. Every one needs to be together as there is only 1 Bathroom upstairs. There is a bathroom directly below on the first floor that can be used if needed
The bed in the guest room is a queen bed there are 2 other rooms one has a double bed and a third room with a 3/4 bed. It is $50.00 a night for each of the other 2 rooms after first $100.00 for Queen bedroom. Everyone has to be traveling together as there is only 1 bathroom. There is a bathroom downstairs directly below it that can be used. I grew up in Indiana but I have lived in this town for more than 50 years and I have a lot of knowledge about it. I was a theatre and dance costume designer and I lived and worked in NYC. I have lots of gardens as I am very found of them and I like to garden. I have a large yard but I am very near the center of town. I was also a flower arranger for about 20 years, I still do a little of both costume designing/making and flower arranging.
My near neighbors are terrific and my house is a bit hidden but very close to town, 2 minutes away by car.
  • The neighborhood was rustic and charming.we felt very safe there.

  • My Father and my stay at Rita's house was delightful indeed. She is quite knowledgeable about the region and is open to answer any questions you may have. Her place is very elegantly decorated, yet very cozy and relaxing. I Highly Recommend staying with Rita!

  • Rita was a gracious, informative host who made us feel most welcome. This is an ideal space particularly for a traveling family who needs several rooms. The space is quite comfortable, impecibly clean, and spacious. A very large, beautiful yard is also accessible, which is not highlighted on the site. Rita was kind enough to present a wonderful breakfast as well. This was my first Airb&b experience. Rita and I chatted at length about her experiences with Airb&b as well -Which she has very much enjoyed. She's very busy and has many happy reviews. It was just perfect all around! This critical NY'er awards high Kudos to Rita! Go stay there! You won't be disappointed.

  • We really enjoyed staying at Rita's beautiful home enrollee to Syracuse. (We were taking my son to a summer program there). She was friendly and welcoming and the two rooms were perfect for my husband, son and I. The fresh fruit salad was a great breakfast. I would recommend Rita's place to other friends who might be traveling to Williamstown.

Perfectly maintained, pretty Victorian house with lots of space, great yard, plus you can walk to everything: restaurants, museums, Clark Art, Williams College, theater, Williamstown Theatre Festival, night life, etc. Close to Mass MoCA & skiing. Pricing includes all required taxes.
This beautifully maintained historic House On Main Street was known as the Victorian Tourist & Antique House in a by-gone era. It was originally constructed in the mid 1700's and was moved to this site, near where Fort Hoosac previously stood, around 1830. The house was visited by such famous personalities as President Woodrow Wilson, who enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner here in 1914. There were many additions and renovations before it was fully remodeled in 1986, taking great care to preserve the quality features of the house. Today there are six spacious, airy bedrooms for our guests to enjoy. In our latest remodel, we have included a Pro-Style 6 Burner Gas Jenn-Air Range, new living room furniture custom made by Taylor King and high end Serta mattress sets form the iComfort, iSeries and Perfect Sleeper collections, even a 48' Flat Screen TV, a BluRay DVD player with free Netflix, Pandora, YouTube and other viewing and listening services. It is inspiring to stay in a place where famous people have been and historic events took place. This home was once owned by Woodrow Wilson's daughter and the former President himself stayed here many times. In fact, he came to Williamstown during the voting process for his second term, believing he had no victory to celebrate. When he got the news that he had again won the Presidency, he gave an impromptu speech from the porch of this house. It is an historic and magical place.
This is a beautiful, quiet, tree lined street. The area is quiet and private and still easy to walk, hike, run, ride bikes... Plus tons of stuff to do here. Good theater, cinema, museums, food, libraries, pubs, etc.

This charming 1890s farm house is on a quiet, lightly traveled street 3 blocks from Williams. It sleeps 5 upstairs (2 queen beds and a twin bed in a pass-through room to the master). Bedroom window air conditioners are used during the summer. The kitchen is fully-equipped. There is cable TV, wifi, a gas grill, porch swing, and a side yard to enjoy the sounds of the nearby stream.
  • Perfect and charming home. Exactly what we needed for our one night stay and visit to Mass Moca. Marie was communicative and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
