“This is a Thai / Malaysian restaurant on the same barge on the river as Charters, but upstairs. The food is great and there's a Sunday buffet at lunchtime.”

“If you want to sit in a wing chair, somewhere quiet and enjoy a drink and chat then this is the place for you. They do a good afternoon tea too, with the option of a sweet or savoury version, which is lovely.”

“I wouldn't say this is my favourite by all means, however I do think this is a great atmosphere, any time of the day and actually, I am always surprised how good the food and service is. Very cheap and cheerful. I've had quite a few breakfasts here too. ”

“Part of the Cote chain, this is nice if you are looking for something different (and slightly French influenced) in the centre of town.”

“This is a gem of a place, you will wonder if you've got the right place from outside but the food is great, really good food with a tasting menu sometimes offered and a great Sunday carvery around. There's a mini farm out the back where children can go and pet a few pigs and goats etc too. ”

“We love to go to the Melbourn Bros after work on a Friday for a couple of relaxing drinks. Brewing their own stock means their prices are one of the lowest in town, and their fruit beers are delicious, my personal favourite is the cherry one. They also serve good, cheap food, so is a great stop for lunch or dinner. It's also one of the oldest buildings in town, so is a really interesting building with lots of nooks and cranny's, and exposed beams. They don't have music or wifi, and the internet signal is poor, so no technology. Be prepared to unwind, switch off and play the odd board game instead!”

“Great pub / restaurant (more restaurant than pub) with fantastic food, in a cute little village. if you fancy walking off your lunch after, go to the spot where Fotheringhay Castle stood, ask the bar staff to direct you to the path leading to it as it's tricky to pinpoint on here! ”

“This is our favourite, it's in a nice village and is run by a friendly, helpful team. It has a large garden, has pizza nights and an outside bar in the summer and the food is great, they do really good roasts too.”
