  • My Fiance and I had a gorgeous stay at the Woodlandsuite. Its very private and we were able to self check in and out. It was absolutely sparking clean and very cosy. The hot tub was a perfect additive and we enjoyed this very much! The location was perfect, close to nearby pubs and a short drive to windermere. We would definitely return in the future! Great value for money.

  • Lovely little place to stay with very froendly and helpful hosts. Easy to get to and find. Private hot tub is lovely to have access to and with it normally having a gazebo over, useable in almost any weather! Very comfy bed and cozy sofa to curl up on. The only things I'd change/add is a few more/new utensils in the kitchen (e.g. tongs for cooking and sharp knives) and curtains for the 2 doors. Just to make it that bit cozier when it's dark. We will be keeping in mind for future Lake District adventures!

  • Lovely place, nice and quiet, cosy, we hardly left the place all weekend!

    Andy2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic property and fantastic hosts. The place was spotless and spacious. Kitchen had everything we needed and the hot tub was a lovely addition that allowed a very relaxing break. Debbie was quick to respond to messages and any queries we had. Loved having use of the local leisure centre facilities too. Would highly recommend!

  • Lovely accomodation at a great price

    Chloe2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie is an excellent host, showed us about at check in and how to use the hot tub etc and any questions you had throughout the weekend were answered with fast and helpful responses, the house looks exactly like the photos so wasn’t disappointed, free use of the health club along the road is the icing on the cake. Would definitely recommend to friends and will be staying again myself

The ground floor space includes a dining area, kitchen area which includes a microwave, kettle, toaster, small fridge and a single electric hot plate. and a ground floor wet room. Bedding, towels, cutlery, crockery are all provided. Outside are stunning views, a picnic area and public footpaths through the farm. Breakfast is not provided can be requested at an additional cost.
With copious amounts of slate and wood, our camping barns are easy to move in and out of. Plenty of space for your belingings, with linen and towels provided. Bright and airy but with a woodburner including oven / hotplates.
Our neighbours are a good distance away. The nearby village of Oxen Park has a well-liked pub, The Manor, and an independent cinema, The Carthouse. A village store, chip shop, butcher and The Bakehouse bakery can be found in Greenodd.
  • Lovely barn with comfy single beds on a mezzanine level. Very clean and enough kitchen space to cook simple meals. Location is fantastic 15mins to Grizedale and magical countryside all around. Great pub one mile away.

    Hannah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing holiday cottage. Stayed over New Year with My family. We all had an amazing time. The Manor House Pub is within walking distance for great food and drink. Will hopefully visit again!

    Will2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely brilliant, this place had everything. Such a beautiful location too. Highly recommended.

    Elissa2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing find! Beautiful sunrises. Was a bit nervous about the lack of heating-packed hot water bottles and extra blankets but these were not needed! We actually slept with the bedroom windows open as the fire made the barn so toasty.... Thoroughly recommend Grizedale Forest for bike and walking trails, the Go Ape there was also fantastic with helpful staff. Best family meal out (possibly ever?!) at The Manor in Oxen Park as recommended by Carole. Nothing too much trouble for hosts....even topped up our coolant when a warning light came on in our vehicle. We actually used our blankets for sitting on in front of the fire in the evening-something I would recommend!

    Shelley2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a number of people looking for a quiet place to lay their heads or for indoor/outdoor games. We had about 6 beds at the place which really suited our 1 night stay.

    Gerald2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Really great place to stay if you're a fan of the Lake District. Wood was provided for the fire and Carole even returned a mobile phone a friend had accidently left there through the post. Great host.

    Marc2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for a great barn. Nice and clean, spacious accommodation with plenty to do. I'd say definitely take some indoor footwear like sliders / slippers as the ground floor is cold but the room itself is warm from the log burner and heater! Highly recommend

    Dave2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very clean, a fire was lit on our arrival and the whole place had a very cosy feel, a selection of board games are available and a local pub is a 15 min walk away. We were met on arrival by the owners who live on site. There are plenty of walks from the site

I live in a cosy townhouse in the heart of Ulverston. The town is bustling with twice-weekly markets, regular festivals, carnivals and events, and a wonderful nightlife, whilst being perfectly located on the edge of The Lake District. 30 minutes drive from Junction 36 of the M6, or 5 minutes walk from Ulverston station, which is an easy transfer from the West Coast Main Line. The room has a modern double bed, a basic wardrobe with hanging and shelf storage, a bedside table and reading lamp.
Guests have a comfortable and newly furnished room overlooking the town, and The Hoad monument. The nearest pub is about 20 paces away, with over a dozen within a five minute walk. Many have live music, quizzes, and a wide range of local beers on tap. My kitchen/diner and living room are available for your use, and you can make yourself at home with these.
The Hoad monument is only a 25 minute walk from my front door, with views across the fells of the Lake District, and towards Morecambe and Blackpool on a clear day.
  • Very central and nice, clean room.

Spacious double bedroomed flat within 400 year old country mansion. Set in large gardens with own private area and parking. Located close to Lake Windermere and Coniston Water.
The flat is large and entirely separate from the main house, having its own private entrance and parking area.
  • The flat was perfect for my two night work trip. Highly recommended. A great place to unwind and destress.

Bank Cottage is a 'one off' experience of a stay. Once a bank, now a converted cottage. It still has many of the old, period features, including exposed beams and the original flagged floors. Bank Cottage is in the heart of the village of Greenodd, in the Lake District. It is the perfect stay for hikers and families alike. Just a stone throw from the local café, newsagents/post office, Fish and Chip Shop, The Porterage Co. and The Ship Inn means you have the village at your doorstep.
The cottage itself is upside down! Entering through the front door brings you to the newly renovated kitchen which flows through to the sunroom, and the large living room. The living room is a L shaped space with space for seated dining as well as plenty of seats to gather round the wood burning fire on cold nights. Perfect for marshmallows! There is a large shower-room on this floor. The balcony extends off the sunroom and is partially covered and cannot be seen by the surrounding houses. Downstairs leads to the two large bedrooms and modern bathroom with a double walk in shower and a large bath. The master bedroom includes a king-sized bed and access to the laundry/boot room, if you require the facilities. The other bedroom is a spacious twin room with plenty of storage space for your stay.
The house comes with free WI-FI though super-fast fibre internet, a washing machine, a smart TV that can be used to access a variety of streaming networks. There is also a log burning fire some initial fuel for the stove is included in the price for the cottage. There is fully fitted and furnished kitchen. There is also a travel cot and high-chair available to use for the younger adventurers. There are steps at the entrance of the property, however the doorways are very wide, due to its past life as a bank, however, the stairs in the house are narrow and curved.
  • Beautifully stylish place but cosy at the same time, great tips in the guide book there (including a lovely walk me and my dad went on), and very welcoming to arrive with home made cookies and fresh milk. Thank you Beth.

    Mark2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • There aren’t enough compliments to give Bank Cottage! We were greeted by delicious homemade biscuits and a welcome note which immediately set the tone of our stay. Beth has thought of everything- games, information brochures, local pub/cafe menus, a box of toiletries in the bathroom, and even some welcome treats in the fridge for our little girl. Really can’t recommend this cottage highly enough and will most certainly be back.

    Michaela2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, super cosy! A real home from home

    Hannah2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Bank Cottage is a lovely, cosy house that is sparklingly clean and has everything you need for a break in the South Lakes. Beth left really thoughtful treats for us - the ready-made fire and homemade cookies were perfect after a day climbing in the wind and rain. Wish we’d been able to stay longer!

    Louise2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful place! Will definitely be telling family and friends to go! Such thoughtful touches on arrival (homemade cookies!) and tea and coffee left ready, and little things around the house to make your stay easier such as maps and a "forget box" and dog treats! Thank you for a great stay

    Bethany2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beth's home went well beyond our expectations at every turn. The space is beautiful and really thoughtfully decorated, Beth even welcomed us with home baked cookies and a card! Everything has been thought of and the house is a perfect base for a quiet weekend in the Lakes. We honestly can't recommend Beth's place enough and look forward to staying again as soon as we can!

    Georgia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Bank Cottage, there were home made cookies waiting for us upon our arrival and Beth had even left our little boy a little treat too! The info booklet is great and is another touch that goes the extra mile to help you have a great stay. Loved the fire (wood/ firelighters were provided) and the beds were very comfy! Would highly reccomend and there is a shop next door and a cafe/ bakery a few doors down!

    Faye2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beth's place is absolutely stunning with all the amenities you need. She's gone the extra mile in decorating the place and making everything easy and simple for travellers the same. Bank Cottage is warm and welcoming. We'll definitely be back again during summer time and highly recommend the place to anyone.

  • Loved my stay here, Sarah as a fab host, she thought of everything and the barn is immaculate. I particularly enjoyed the view from the bedroom window in the morning. It's epic! I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cosy place to stay in the lakes.

    Dom2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Sarah's place! It's about a 45m walk to reach Ulverston, which was mostly downhill so quite easy. If travelling on a busy weekend you need to book restaurants and taxis in advance - we didn't manage to book the restaurant we wanted as Ulverston got incredibly busy on the bank holiday weekend.

    El2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The photos do not do this place justice- it's a lot bigger and more luxurious than we expected! It is a clean and comfy home and Sarah has thought of everything you could possibly need. The location is a short drive from the lakes, but handy for access to more amenities in Ulverston.

    Vera2019-08-19T00:00:00Z

Perfectly suited for a couple, or a small family or group of adults. The house is very spacious and whilst there is room and beds for up to 6, we find it works best with no more than 4 adults. This is also in respect of the friendly neighbours and peaceful area we are lucky to be part of. Facilities include - large smart TV, freeview, fast speed WiFi, central heating and two log fires, double glazing, comfy sofas, fully fitted kitchen including double oven and dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Bathroom has wc, wash basin, bath and electric shower. Sleeping arrangements - The two double bedrooms are of good size, and we have a lovely attic room with almost a sea view (on your tip toes!) We also have a day bed in the entrance room. House layout - This is a period house with original features such as exposed wood beams and cottage doors. On the ground floor, we have a porch, an entrance room, cosy living room and small office area. On the second floor, we have the two bedrooms, bathroom and large airy kitchen-diner with farmhouse door. On the top floor we have the converted attic room. Outdoors - We have a lovely garden with a table for 4, seating and grass area for playing. Food and toiletries - We stock the house with most of the basics you might need for the first day or two (tea and coffee, toilet and kitchen roll, cleaning product, etc). All clean bedding and towels are included. Local area - We are part of a very small and peaceful village and accordingly please respect this. Access - Note that due to the original features of the cottage including uneven and narrow staircases, beams on ceilings and steep inclines by the side of the house, this may be unsuitable for older or less able people. Pets - You are welcome to bring up to 2 well behaved dogs into the cottage, there will be an additional charge of 10 pounds per dog per stay (or £30 if booking for a full week). Please send us a message to confirm. Parking - Free parking outside the property and plenty of space further up the road for additional cars.
In Penny Bridge village, life is slow, and people are friendly. In this small village, within 5 minutes walk from the house you have ... Two pubs serving real ales and great food, the best bakery in the lakes, a post office, a Butchers, a newsagents, Morecambe bay estuary, a pizza restaurant, an award winning chippy, countless walks and stunning views. We are also on the start of the bay cycle route and there are lots of jogging and walking routes. There is so much to do but this is also the perfect village to simply do nothing! It can be nice to just relax in the garden and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The historic market town of Ulverston is just 5-8 minutes drive from the cottage. Here there are lots of beer gardens, walks, markets, beach, views, shops and restaurants. Within 10-20 minutes drive from the cottage, you can access some of the most famous places in the Lake District: - Cartmel - Bowness on Windermere (or you can take a 40 minute boat ride) - Coniston - Barrow in Furness - Grange over sands - Morecambe bay - Hundreds of walks and pubs and restaurants Local attractions in this area include- Lakeside and haverthwaite railway, Cartmel races, Holker hall, Lake cruises on Windermere, South lakes wildlife park, Old hall farm bouth, Lakeland motor museum, Fell foot, Steam yacht gondola, Dalton castle, Laurel and hardy museum, The sir John barrow monument, Conishead priory From the cottage, you also make a day trip to all the major Lake District attractions: Grasmere (40 mins) Wordsworth, Ullswater (1 hour), Ambleside (30 mins) Beatrix potter and Rookin house, Kendal (30 mins) sizergh, grizedale forest and go ape, Keswick, thirlmere and derwent water (1 hour) and Lancaster (40 mins).

  • The cottage was fantastic for a short break over new year. Fantastic for dogs, especially the walk over the the estuary. Very hospitable pub a few doors down who made us feel really welcome. Recommend this place for both the lakes and the beaches on the Barrow coastal route.

We fell in love with this place the moment we arrived. The peace of the area gave us a chance to relax in the beautiful surroundings. Close by, the lake, hills and mountains gave us the chance to have some adventures. Our Lake District cottage is one of four properties that were once the mill in Water Yeat. It has an open kitchen dining room which makes a great space to relax. The living room has a wood burning stove, vaulted ceiling and large windows with views over the hamlet and countryside.
Our cottage has: An open kitchen diner with electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A living room with two sofas, satellite TV, DVD and wood-burning stove. 1 double bedroom with king-size bed 1 double bedroom with double day bed Bathroom with bath and separate shower Hallway Parking for two vehicles Garden and patio
We live in a small hamlet with lovely views and walks and cycle rides in all directions. Walk straight onto the nearby hills, down to the river or along to the lake Coniston Water. Nearby are the villages of Coniston and Hawkshead, the higher Lakeland mountains and Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin. A little further are Ambleside, Windermere, Langdale and Grasmere. The area has many great cafes and pubs serving local produce. For the more adventurous there is great mountain walking, climbing, mountain biking, canoeing and sailing close by, independently or with local adventure companies.
  • Had a perfect week with our 2 beagles, garden perfect for them to run around in. Cottage has everything we needed and will definitely be coming back

This is a pretty, clean, quiet single room, 5 min from the centre of town, that looks out over the garden. Tea, coffee, herbal tea, kettle and toaster are provided. The bathroom suite is new and it has recently been retiled. A bit of work needs to be done to the wall. The hall way is well on its way, but needs a little bit of work also. . This work should be finished soon, but, if you need perfection, this room won't work for you. Its a pretty house though, with a lovely vibe.
    Its very sweet
Ulverston is really pretty and atmospheric market town, which hold many festivals and music/art events throughout the year. Just outside of the National Park, it provides a great base from which to explore the Lake District, although it is not over-whelmed by tourists and retains a great community feel. It is the start of the Cumbrian Way, and the home of the Laurel and Hardy museum. There is a fabulous old cinema, which still has ice-cream intervals. There are lots of fabulous cafes, restaurants and pubs in the area. Although the house is only five minutes walk to the centre of town, it is located in a very quiet, pretty neighbourhood.
  • Very nice place. To reach the town, a car is recommended.

  • Rachel’s place is great value for money . A comfy bed , good shower and close to local shops bars and restaurants. Rachel is very friendly , responsive and easy to talk to . I would definitely stay at Rachel’s place again .

  • Rachel is very nice and supportive. She helps me solve the problem of getting to her home, and the way of getting to my next destination. Her home is cozy and the neighborhood is quite. I took good rest there and it was a great experience!

  • Rachel is a very caring host, and I enjoyed staying there again, in the cute little room with garden view. Little breakfats things are in the room, also a small fridge. The WFI worked fine as it did last time. I can recommend it.

    Norbert2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • It is a cozy and comfortable room in a very quiet community. I can easily find a lot of on-street parking spaces. It is a very good option for a short stay. Although it is not exactly in the lake district it is definitely not far if you drive. Rachel is very friendly and always responses to my message very quickly.

A romantic, stylish and cosy cottage for two in the beautiful Lake District National Park, half a mile form the shores of Lake Windermere and 15 minutes drive from Junction 36 of the M6. We've recently completed a top-to-toe renovation of our 250 year old cottage, giving the place a modern rustic feel. There are many wonderful walks and bike rides available right from the front door and some great gastropubs nearby - plus the 2 Michelin starred L'Enclume restaurant just a few miles away.
Free BT super-fast WiFi. Charging point for electric vehicle. Smart TV with FreeSat. 15 minutes drive from Junction 36 of M6. LGBTQ friendly. Dog friendly. We can organise fun things for a special occasion, including champagne and local handmade chocolates - please just ask.
Lake Windermere is a short walk from our front door, accessed via the National Trust's Fell Foot Park. Newly opened Active Base centre at Fell Foot offers a range of watersports. Across the lake at Lakeside is the Haverthwaite Steam Railway, the Lakes Aquarium and you can take the passenger ferry around England's largest lake with Windermere Lake Cruises.
  • Back to reality after what was the most relaxing and tranquil weekend. Loveday was just perfect for what we needed and exceeded all expectations. The perfect place to unwind and put your feet up after long walks and breathtaking scenery, all a stones throw from the cottage. Thank you for making our weekend so special.

    Rhys2020-03-05T00:00:00Z

    Holly2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing little find!! Loveday cottage couldn’t get any better, the place itself is so cosy and homely but so high end and chic at the same time. You can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into making it what it is. The homemade brownies were a lovely personal touch too - much appreciated. The location is perfect and close to Lake Windermere which is lovely but it’s still far enough out of the way to feel like you’re hidden from the world. Words can’t describe how chilled and at home we felt in the cottage and also how lucky we were to find it! If you’re considering staying here don’t bother reading anymore reviews JUST BOOK!! You will not regret it ❤️

    Nicola2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loveday is the perfect, quiet base to explore the Lakes. The cottage has been tastefully renovated and has everything you could need. I have enjoyed exploring Windermere, Ambleside and all the surrounding areas (even in the rain) and coming home to a warm fire and cosy cottage. Many thanks Emma and Gregor, I hope to be back when there’s less rain :)

The bathroom has recently been renovated and features a lovely shower + a big, old-style bath. • Was my first air b and b so nothing to compare it to, but was a good experence for me. I couldn't ask for better hospitality, Rachel is very kind. It's not luxury accomodation but I wasn't looking for it and didn't need it. If the house had some decor issues in the past they weren't in evidence now. Would recommend.

  • Hi Rachel, thank you for a very pleasant stay. We felt that you gave a lovely personal touch to our stay. You had thought of lots of little things to make us feel welcome. I especially loved the shower/bath and the chance to have breakfast in the before starting the day. Ulverston was a lovely surprise as we saw the lantern festival and enjoyed looking out over those meticulous allotments, and luckily we had good weather. The room was excellent value for money and querky as an old house should be, the curtains were amazing. Thank you for making us welcome, we would stay again. Helen Roberts😀👍

Our home is in the hamlet where Arthur Ransome, author of 'Swallows & Amazons' spent his childhood holidays. Today it still retains its charm, even in high summer. We are a stone's throw from the lake, with woodlands & waterfalls on our doorstep.
We have 2 lovely guest bedrooms, each with king-size beds, sharing a spacious bathroom. (We often only have one guest group at a time but on busy weekends you may have to share the facilities.) I provide fresh towels, shower & bath products, wifi access & tea/coffee making facilities in your room. You can enjoy your buffet breakfast either in the kitchen by the Aga, or outside if the weather is nice. You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare your packed lunch or a simple evening meal though of course you may prefer to visit one of the local pubs or restaurants; the nearest pub is the Red Lion ( a gentle 2 mile walk away if you're feeling energetic!)
If you want to leave the car behind, just step out of the door! Explore the small pebbled beaches and coves at the southern end of the lake by foot or on your bike. The lovely National Trust steam boat 'Gondola' plies the lake and you can have a leisurely cruise, or perhaps visit Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin for over 30 years. If you want to climb the fells, the Old Man of Coniston and other famous Lakeland peaks are just up the road.

Welcome to Little Sansook B&B! Ulverston's first, and only, vegan bed and breakfast. We are a green, vegan, dog-loving, household in the heart of the historic market town of Ulverston. Our pet-friendly home is one minute from the starting point of the Cumbria Way walk and a stone's throw away from many other beautiful walks, including the Hoad Hill, which boasts panoramic views of Morecombe Bay. Guests will be given a parking permit which gives them free access to spaces around our house.
Guests have the entire top floor of the property to themselves. The Guest Floor is very spacious and comprises of a cosy double bedroom, with a delightful en suite shower room, and toilet. Our guests will also have their very own private-lounge with a comfortable sofa, widescreen TV with freeview, a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, and some reading material. Basically, everything you could ever need for a perfect stay! We are happy to welcome guests with children if we are able to accommodate them in the guest space. For example, if you have a baby, and a travel cot, that is absolutely fine. We recently purchased a foldable camp bed, which can be placed in the guest living room upon request - it is suitable for one small child. We are also pet-friendly. Just send us a message and we will see what we can do for you. Although, the house is painted blue, we are very much green in our values. We are conscious about our purchases, actively avoid single use plastic and promote the use of eco-friendly products. We are working towards being a zero-waste household but are by no means perfect. We compost, re-use, recycle, and have recently started making eco-bricks out of non-recyclable plastic. We support local fruit and vegetable stalls and purchase many products from our local refill shop - including most of the breakfast ingredients.
Ulverston is a special place and I am sure our guests will feel that as soon as they arrive. There are fantastic walking and cycling routes in the area for the more active individual. But if you prefer to spend your time in quaint little tea shops, and traditional pubs, this is also the place for you! Ulverston truly is the best of Britain! Ulverston is also the birth place of comedy legend Stan Laurel so you can spend a day at the Laurel and Hardy Museum followed by food and drink at the Stan Laurel Inn. For guests who are interested in Bhuddism and meditation, we are a short distance from Manjushri Kadampa Monastery. They offer daily meditation sessions and regular courses on all aspects of Buddhism and meditation. We are more than happy to maintain a quiet environment in the presence of guests who are here for meditation retreats and we can offer a very comfortable environment for the duration of your stay. If you are seeking a more high-tempo stay, there is a 5km Park Run, every Saturday at 9am and we would be more than happy to show our guests how to sign up. It is 100% free of charge and ran by local volunteers for the community. There is something for everyone here!
  • Gorgeous accommodation, friendly, helpful hosts, nothing too much trouble.

  • This is the second time we have stayed at Little Sansook and it was just as marvellous as before. Dan and Kelsey are superb, conscientious hosts: communication with them is easy and quick, our check-in and-out was simple and straightforward, and the house itself is beautifully decorated and set-up with splenty of thoughtful touches that reflect its vegan ethos. Little Sansook is also perfectly located in the centre of Ulverston, less than a two minute walk away from the central highstreet and a number of lovely pubs. It is ideally located for a peaceful weekend retreat to the Lake District. We can't wait to return again for another stay!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. It’s a great location for a peaceful retreat and we really enjoyed relaxing in the evening and using the log burner. Julia was very helpful and quick to reply. If we had a couple more days We would have liked to explore the walks directly from the cottage, maybe next time :)

    Aimee2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • House is exactly as described in pictures. Really warm with set timer so don't need to worry about heating. Stove made a nice touch and extra cosy in the evening. Fully stocked kitchen gave the option of staying in to cook. 10 minute drive down to Cartmel with lots of options to eat. Taxi service available by asking local pubs if required. We went to one of the Michelin star restaurants for lunch one day. Also make sure to get the sticky toffee pudding from the village shop. Not to be missed. Hot tub and pool were as described in pictures and a great bonus. Really enjoyed them. Didn't meet our host but responded quickly to any queries we had. Cartmel and Howbarrow are a great base for visiting lakes.

  • Julia's cottage is an idyllic getaway for a quiet weekend away. It's in a great location to explore cartmel and surrounding areas of the lake district. The cottage has everything you need including great additions like the hot tub and swimming pool. Self check in was simple and Julia was really helpful providing additional directions to find the cottage.

  • Honestly can’t recommend this place enough! From first contact to last, Julia and family were amazing. Always on hand for queries. All round lovely property and location. only 6 minute drive from the town of Cartmel. Lovely town with such a community feel to it. The best choice for a home from home feel!

  • This is a lovely quaint little cottage with the bonus of beautiful surroundings & an indoor pool. It is cosy , warm and filled with character. We went there for some peace & quiet from our busy working lives & got what we much needed... much needed rest. The log fire is a nice touch with a lovely comfortable bed & all amenities. We also met the neighbours when our walking who were lovely too. We would definitely stay again . *****

    Pedro2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant - we had such a nice few days at the cottage at Howbarrow Farm. It's properly remote (but easy to get to) which is exactly what we wanted, and during the storm we shut the world away, stuck a film on, and felt nice and cozy. Kitchen fully equipped so we were able to cook each evening and enjoy some of the lush sticky toffee pudding from the village shop too. The cottage itself was as described, and well laid out. Didn't take advantage of the hot tub or pool but those are nice extras and plenty of instructions provided if you fancy a go. Had a blonde moment and couldn't get the heat working on our last day (user error) but Julia was quick to respond, I managed to sort it out so we didn't actually meet but she was an attentive host. Would love to come back and check out the area some more, and would most definitely stay again.

The second room can be used as a sitting room, or bedroom for two people . The second room has a small fridge and TV in it as well. We are 10 minutes walk from the centre of this lovely market town with plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs, and cafes and a short drive from the National Park and walking distance from the station. O
    - very quiet residential setting close to access to the countryside - an excellent local pub that is child-friendly with a large beer garden -There are a TV and fridge in the main second room plus tea & coffee facilities - 10 mins walk into the town centre for shops and restaurants.
Ulverston is a small market town on the edge of the Lake District. It is a friendly, busy town with a variety of shopping opportunities covering all sort of goods and some very interesting local shops which cover local goods from food to pictures to clothes. We are situated on the edge of town so it's a nice quiet area with easy access to the Lake District e.g 20 mins to Windermere, but its only a 10 min walk to the town centre.
  • Simon is a great host. Communication was great, place was clean and tidy and Dennis (the dog) was great fun!

You have the whole top floor to yourself, there is an en - suite, small fridge, tea/ coffee making facilities and a tv up there, you also have full use of their lovely kitchen. It is ideally situated, within a few minutes you are on lovely countryside walks or just 10 minutes takes you into the town itself. They are a very lovely, welcoming family, I would highly recommend a stay here!

My place is good for couples, and families (with kids). Business people have also been happy to stay. One bedroom has two singles which can convert to a king size bed and the other room has a double bed. The shower room has a shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin. No washer in the cabin but guests are welcome to use mine. Country location, ten minutes from Coniston Water and twenty minutes from Windermere. Lots of tourist attractions in the area.
    Garden furniture on the veranda.
Lowick is quite a scattered village, chippy and post office/store in Greenodd about five minutes drive. Ulverston, ten minutes drive is a quaint market town with small interesting shops as well as supermarkets. Fifteen minutes away is the peaceful Conishead Priory and Buddhist Temple.
  • A great place to stay, the host has a good selection of DVDs or reading material for when you're inside, and it's in a perfect spot for hitting a good amount of places in the south lakes. The cabin had a lot of eco products which is always a nice sight. The host was kind enough to put the lights and heating on as we had a late arrival which was a lovely gesture.

    Michael2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. The place has all you may need. Excellent dvd collection. The host was extremely helpful. Highly recommend.

  • Better than the pics. This place is a home from home. So impressed. Great distance from everything, really well furnished kitchen, really well equipped throughout. I took mum and my best friend on a couple of days walking round the lakes, Yvonne's spot was cozy, comfy and perfect. Thank you!

    David2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this little cabin! Stayed with my husband and a friend visiting from abroad. There were so many nice things such as the milk and biscuits left for us. I also loved that it was all cruelty free And eco friendly cleaning products, as that’s really important to me :) I didn’t have a chance to meet the host, but check in was super easy and we didn’t have any problems. However, being there in winter meant lots of ice and VERY dark, very early, so important to be aware of this if you’re driving and not familiar with the area. Thanks so much for such a lovely stay!

    Yasmine2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is beautiful, in a quaint location, with lovely homely touches. It's impossible not to relax here. It is wonderfully stocked with games, books, DVDs, and CDs! We are sad to have to leave, but will definitely be returning as soon as possible. This might become a regular visit for us - you cant loose a gem like this.

A stunning 200 year-old cottage located in the charming small village of Bouth in the Lake District, now a UNESCO world heritage region. Situated on a quiet country road and bounded on two sides by open fields, with grazing shire horses and Jersey cows, this is the idyllic country retreat. The cottage has been renovated to the highest standard whilst retaining all the charm of its period. The traditional village pub is a few metres away. Breathtaking natural scenery awaits you from the doorway.
The architect-designed interior of this cottage has been exquisitely restored in the most beautiful quirky and contemporary style. The original fireplace, beams, and floorboards have been exposed and walls restored using traditional lime plaster. Solid oak handmade interior doors with beautiful ironmongery and a stunning white birch staircase have been added. Downstairs is a light and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with rear access to a fabulous patio, where you can catch the sun for an alfresco breakfast and dine till late in the evening in the warmth of the sunset. The lounge area with comfy luxurious sofas, stone flooring and wood burner is the perfect spot for cosy relaxation after a long day. The dining area has a solid oak table with bench seating for four to enjoy a meal together and the light kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances, with an electronic oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, food processor, comprehensive kitchen utensils and washing machine. On the first floor, where the original A-frame beams are exposed to the apex of the roof, there is a spacious master bedroom with a king-size bed and a large, beautifully tiled shower and WC en-suite. There is also a second equally lovely en-suite WC. Outside the property is a private, raised patio with garden furniture, enclosed wildflower garden and shed for storing bikes. There is parking at the property, with an electric car charging option and space for two cars.
The village offers a traditional pub a few metres from the cottage and a heritage farm where visitors can see traditional farming methods, even ride traction engines and enjoy a small cafe selling home-made ice cream, fresh milk and eggs. There are numerous walks of great unspoilt natural beauty from the cottage and quiet roads and tracks for cycling and mountain biking. The beautiful west coast of Cumbria with vast empty beaches is a 30 minute drive, whilst the Lakeland fells and lakes are accessible in all directions. Nearby, 15 minutes drive, is the quaint market town of Ulverston, with its narrow cobbled streets, where you can find good supermarkets, cafes and restaurants and charming craft shops. From the motorway there is a fast road without the traffic congestion of the tourist blackspots, giving efficient access to the cottage and from there to the rest of the Lake District National Park.

  • Amazing and friendly host, always quick with responses, very helpful and reliable. The modern place is just a perfect gettaway for couples. Would definitely use kathryns place again if i ever come back to lake district!

  • Best place i have stayed in, in Lake District area.

  • We had a lovely time at Hunters Moon. Kathryn and Jon were really friendly and helpful throughout our stay, the place was immaculate and beautifully decorated throughout. There were plenty of walks straight from the apartment. Thank you!

  • The flat is exactly as described. Beautifully decorated in idillic scenery. The thing that really stood out however was how lovely and helpful Kathryn was. She could literally not have done more for us and even left a bottle of champers when finding out it was my birthday. I would recommend for anyone to stay here looking for a holiday in the lakes.

  • This newly renovated Air Bnb is a lovely place to relax and feel home. Kathryn and Jon are very warm and welcoming, as well as respectful of your privacy. They have provided a super collection of DVDs in case of rainy days! The indoor space is tastefully decorated and the outdoor space is beautiful with birds to observe if you sit quietly by the little pond.

  • Kathryn and Jon are such warm, welcoming hosts, providing everything you need for a comfortable stay at Hunters Moon. The new kitchen and bathroom facilities are an added bonus to this lovely place to relax and feel at home. The bedroom/living room is also newly and tastefully decorated. This opens out on to a patio which creates a feeling of space. There is a very pleasant spot to sit outside beside a pretty little pond with lilies. You might even see Jeremy Fisher!

    Catherine2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place out in the lake district. Stayed for a few days while cycling round the area. The place had a safe place for my bike, and Kathryn was friendly and helpful.

    Matt2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn is the perfect host with a wonderful apartment for use. The place is literally sparkling clean with a modern kitchen and bathroom. We used the twin beds and, although they did feel on the small side, were good and comfortable. Spark Bridge is close to the main Lake District tourist spots whilst being far enough away to be more peaceful. Kathryn also keeps an extremely well stocked tourist information area in the apartment which is very useful when planning trips out. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be recommending the place to friends and family and even hope to return ourselves in the future!

  • A great spot a little outside Cartmel. The loft is a cozy space and offers beautiful views. Low slung ceilings add to the charm, and it’s surprisingly roomy. Probably not the best time of year for it, but I can imagine it’s a real paradise for bird watchers in the summer. Just up the hill from the property is a spot with cracking views across the bay and there’s a couple of nice running routes down towards Holker Hall as well. Sadly we didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub and pool, but one for next time... We survived on foot for the most part, but probably easier in a car when it’s wet and windy. On a nice day, it’s a 30 minute walk down into Cartmel Village for L’Enclume and other foodie adventures, and probably 20 minutes to the race course. We were a bit surprised to see no essentials (salt, pepper, oil) in the kitchen, but Julia was very quick to sort that out, and nothing seemed too much of a bother for her! Overall very responsive on all front. We’ll be back!

  • Julia’s farm loft is absolutely lovely with stunning views from every window. We really enjoyed our stay at the loft and would love to return again. We had a laugh trying to find the hot tub in the darkness but managed to find it in the end and enjoy the hot tub on a cold, wet night. Check in was very simple and the loft was warm and very inviting. Had a great sleep in the bed and enjoyed waking up to the beautiful views. Thanks for having us!

  • Lovely hideaway just outside of Cartmel village - sadly we visited during one of the worst storms the UK has seen in yers but we felt safe and warm tucked away at Julia's Place.

  • We had a lovely time at this cozy attic space. We felt totally at home, and the setting was beautiful. If you walk up the hill a wee bit, you get a great view of the sun setting over the sea. The place was warm and the bed was so comfy, so we got great sleeps, too. The surrounding area is magic, but it's hard to tear yourself away from the lovely home to go exploring, especially with the pool & hot tub which we used both evenings. Would definitely recommend this place & would come back when we're next in the Lake District.

    Beth2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay and had everything we needed. Checkin was super easy and the very spacious apartment was very clean and well heated throughout. We both slept extremely well, it's so quiet and the bed was excellent. After a day on the fells it was great to use the hot tub and pool to unwind. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend, our hosts were very quick to respond to queries and allowed us to store our mountain bikes in a shed which was most appreciated.

    Darren2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfy and the wood burning stove a lovely feature. The hot tub was a perfect temperature and really needed after a long day. Would definitely reccomend and would stay again.

    Nicola2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place is fantastic!! We had the most wonderful time there! It was such a quiet and relaxing place. Julia was very helpful and kind. Cartmel is a beautiful village, and we highly recommend you go and grab some sticky toffee pudding! ;)

Beautiful shepherd's hut set in a private, peaceful riverside field, surrounded by fields and woodland. Sleeps 2 in a double bed and is self-contained with fully equipped kitchen (2 gas hobs and grill) and small bathroom with shower and eco loo. A wood burner keeps it very cosy in winter. Lights are powered by a solar panel. Bedding and towels provided, also tea, coffee etc and provisions for breakfast. A perfect place in the Lake District for a romantic break or getaway from modern life!
  • We loved our time at Hilary's place. Cosy and warm, beautiful location and a lovely breakfast 😁 A hidden gem.

    Melanie2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic weekend break staying at the Hut in the Sheep Wash. It is ideally located within a short drive of both the coast and the Lake District. The hut was well equipped with all the key facilities. and Hilary was nice enough to pop by during check in to ensure everything was okay. The breakfast which was provided was also a lovely touch.

    Nick2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The hut is beautiful, full of thoughtful touches, and in the most stunning location. Hilary is a fantastic host, and had thought of absolutely everything, pre lighting the fire for our arrival and supplying us with tasty scones and eggs for breakfast. Couldn’t recommend the hut any higher!

    Stuart2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect getaway - the location and hut were both outstanding. We'll be back!

    Lucy2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Stopped here for a night whilst exploring the Lake District and enroute to Scotland for New Year. Great communication, setting and location was lovely for a quiet recharge. Hut was cozily warm thanks to Hilary getting the log burner going and was equipped with everything you could wish for. Hope to revisit and cannot recommend enough.

    Roy2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed here on short notice for a little weekend getaway. The location is absolutely gorgeous! With the peaceful sound of a little river accompanying the warm fire, our night in this cosy hut was lovely. Lots of local sights to take in nearby make this a perfect location. Scones and eggs provided gave us a nice evening treat and breakfast too. If you are planning on visiting the area then we highly recommend this place!

    Chris2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such a special place to get away from it all! Hilary very thoughtful with little extras such as fresh followers, milk/tea/coffee/sugar, home made scones with butter & jam, eggs/bread and cereals. The stove was lit for our arrival and supply of coal for the stay, the stove kept us very toasty, even needed to open window! We had rubbish weather but it didn’t matter as the space is so cosy and has everything you need!

    Paula2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place! We stayed at the beginning of November. The hut was so warm and cosy with the log fire it kept us warm all night. We loved toasting marshmallows outside, it’s so peaceful. No phone signal or TV makes you appreciate it even more. Everything was thought of from books and games to extra blankets! Cute little extras were appreciated. And the hut is spotless. Thank you so much for having us. We definitely will return.

  • Blackberry Landing is an absolutely stunning oak framed cabin. The pictures don’t do it justice. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of it and spent a lot of time staring at the beams. Lovely and cosy, very comfy bed and very relaxing stay. We loved it. Thank you :)

  • Lovely cabin, really comfortable, cosy and nice and warm. Would definitely stay again if we come to the area.

    Angela2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • The lodges are warm and cosy. They are decorated beautifully and are done to a high spec. We stayed in the smallest lodge. It’s not great for people that have mobility difficulties but it is absolutely lovely. The views and peace and quiet are so relaxing. The owners welcomed us on arrival and made sure that we could light the log burner and that we knew where everything was. I would be very happy to recommend the lodges to my family and friends.

  • We loved every minute of our stay at Blackberry Landing. The cabin is beautifully furnished and even better in person than it is in the pictures. It's really cosy with the log burner going and the location is quiet and feels rural and tucked away whilst still only being a short drive from the supermarket. The bed is comfy and the living space is lovely in the evening with everything you need to feel right at home. The kitchen is small but well-equipped (don't bring anything too big for the fridge!) and the shower is good. As far as I can see nobody has had a bad word to say about this place and rightly so. Check-in was dead easy, communication was good and Louise and Andrew are only too happy to come and help if you need anything. They had no problem with us checking out a bit later as there was nobody staying in the cabin that night. Five stars from us and highly recommended.

    Tom2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay with everything you would need for a short stay. We stayed with our two children who loved it too. The place was warm, and cosy. The personal touches made this cabin a very welcoming place. We slept so well on our first night that we got up late the following day! Lovely touch with the chocolate cake. Thank you Louise and Andrew, you must be proud of a beautiful cabin.

  • Great place in a great location

    Robin2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • A very well thought out cabin which we loved being both inside and out. Had everything needed for a relaxing break away.

    Julie2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location with stunning views, and lovely walks so close. It is brand new inside and feels very homely but up to date with a great kitchen. Would recommend this to anyone!
