Enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the Blue Ridge Mountains from this homey cottage on the Blue Ridge Parkway (mile marker 334). At a cool elevation of 3,500 feet there is always a lovely cool breeze. Private in every way. Fine dining and bar within walking distance.
This space has the feel of a 1940's cottage in the woods. Refrigerator, kitchenette, electric fireplace. High in the tree tops, it feels like a tree house with plenty of privacy. The cottage is about 20 ft. above the ground. The living room, kitchen and bedroom are all together in one room. Approximately 350 square feet total. There is a drape that can be pulled to separate bedroom from the living room. Great place for a writer or artist to gain inspiration. Also, great for motorcycle couple because of carport to keep bikes out of the weather. We provide you with coffee and tea to start your day and a bowl of fresh fruit for a light breakfast. Within walking distance to fine dining and bar with live entertainment at the Chalet restaurant. There is shopping at the gift shops of the Switzerland Inn. Close to Mount Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain and Lake Lure. Fabulous hiking, rafting and great outdoor activities nearby or just sit and read a good book. Gas firepit on the deck for enjoying a cool evening outdoors. Occasionally deer and bear come through the yard but you are safe high above the ground. We also have a beautiful waterfall within hiking distance. Golfing can be found at nearby Grassy Creek Golf Course (6 miles away) or you can be at magnificent Mount Mitchell Golf Course in a 20 minute drive. This is a turn-key operation. We will make sure all is to your liking when you arrive and then you are on your own. Our home is such that we are not aware of your comings or goings. So, we are in easy contact via phone or text to help with any needs. We live in our home on the opposite side of the garage. Our neighborhood is private and quiet. Our neighbors are respectful of others and enjoy chatting if passed on the road. There is no public transit here. Ammenities: TV with Direct TV, electric fireplace in living room, kitchenette, refrigerator, coffee maker, stove, microwave, toaster oven, deck with gas fireplace, fine dining and bar within walking distance, shower in bathroom, you can choose between having two twin beds or king. There is Walmart shopping 4 miles away, small pets permitted (let us know in advance). In an effort to be totally transparent...the shower and the toilet area of the cottage are considerably small. Take a good look at the pictures of the bathroom and be sure it will work for you. If you are a large person it may not be comfortable for you. Text me if you need more information regarding this Our neighborhood is private and quiet. Our neighbors are respectful of others and enjoy chatting if passed on the road. There is no public transit in this area.

  • My fiancée and I had a wonderful time at Robert's cottage in Little Switzerland! The space is cozy and well suited for a couple on a weekend trip. The back deck was probably my favorite part, as the view of the garden was lovely. The area is very, very quiet. There are two main trails within walking distance; we took one to a waterfall, which was fun, a little vigorous, and very secluded. The neighbors were extremely friendly. All of the descriptions in his posting were accurate. The bowl of fruit and jazz upon entry was pretty cool. I guess the only thing "negative" (note the quotation marks) is that there's not a great mountain view, but you certainly feel like you're in the trees (because you basically are lol). I also might get a little claustrophobic if we had stayed there a week or longer, but for a long weekend, it was great. Overall, we had a great time at the cottage! Lots to do and explore in the area. :)

  • I spent two weeks at Roberts lovely cabin and I enjoyed every minute of it. It's perfectly appointed for one or two people, is situated high among the trees, and is a fantastic getaway retreat. Robert provided everything i needed, and was great about periodically checking in throughout my stay to ask if I needed anything, or to change the linens. The cabin has a great location, it's private, yet close to a handful of restaurants and little boutiques, so I never felt too isolated. Also the landscaping around the house is lovely; lots of flowers and plants to please the eye. Thank you Robert, I loved my visit!!

  • Bob's place is perfectly located in one of the most beautiful locations on the Blue Ridge Parkway. My daughter and I stayed and every detail was attended too. From a bowl of cherries and kisses to every thing you could need for a short stay and a VERY cozy, and "VERY CUTE" as my daughter put it, place to stay. We we had had more time to stay and just kick back.

  • We just enjoyed a wonderful getaway to this Little Switzerland cottage. It's conveniently located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and is part of the Switzerland Inn property, which has a number of shops and a restaurant. We enjoyed strolls from the property to the shops and even got to attend a crafts fair that was hosted in the hall on site. Bob welcomed us with lit jack-o-lanterns at both the entrance and on the back porch. There were fresh flowers inside, the fire was going, and the house had a pleasant scent. They even provided fruit, coffee, and hot chocolate, which we weren't expecting. The house was as described: small and cozy and very well kept-up. We were thankful they let us bring our small dog and she enjoyed the view from the windows near the floor. The only negatives were small: We didn't realize there wasn't a freezer, but we received an ice bucket and refills when needed. Also, it would have been nice if there was an option to push the twin beds together to make a king size. Overall, this was a great stay and perfect for relaxing. The area is quiet and peaceful and the scenery is gorgeous.

  • This is a small concise cabin nestled among the beautiful forest. We enjoyed sitting on the deck listening to the sounds of nature. The heat is provided by a gas fireplace in the living room and space heater in the bathroom. Great shower head. We were comfortable. Bob provided us a bowl of fruit and morning coffee. The house is filled with treasures of all sizes that are different each time you look around. We spent our time exploring the surrounding natural spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

  • Soft music and lights welcomed us as we entered this extraordinary cottage in the mountains. Every amenity was provided in addition to a well appointed interior taking the meaning of relaxation to new heights. The views were enhanced with a birdhouse garden. We never go anywhere twice since there are so many places to see...but this cottage may be our exception to the rule. Our only regret is that we didn't book it for a longer stay. Thanks Bob...your cottage is amazing.

  • Love, love, love. What a brilliant use of a small space. Perfect for 1 or 2 who require space only of the great outdoors. Just open the windows and you're in the middle of it. How lovely to lounge on the porch. Perfect for those with dogs. Plenty of space off property to sniff and run.

    Betsy2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • The room is wonderfully accommodating with great attention to detail for the guest’s stay. It’s in an absolutely wonderful part of the Blue Ridge Parkway and would stay there again next time passing through.

Western North Carolina is very proud of the products and artwork made in the region! So, while you can visit outlet malls and chain stores in Asheville, our guests tend to love sidestepping them in favor of indulging in distinct items crafted locally by-hand. Basket weavers, fibers artists, ceramicists, blacksmiths, glass blowers, printmakers, jewelers, you name it... they're here by the dozens. This is because located just minutes from our cabin is Penland School of Crafts, American's oldest and largest crafts school. This school serves as a beacon, attracting artists from all over the world - many of which have settled here and opened their studios to sell exquisite craft and functional art directly to the public. Much like wine trails, in our region we have a craft trail complete with a detailed guide to help you find the perfect gift or treasure! Because of the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project and programs like Mitchell and Yancey Grown, the area is also a haven for people who love food! Artisan farmers, beekeepers, cheese makers, brewers, wine makers, herbalists can all be found dotting the landscape. So if you are into food, it's a magical place! As a matter of fact, Spruce Pine is home to The Knife and Fork which is owned and operated by Chef Nathan Allen who was nominated in 2016 by the James Beard Foundation for Best Southern Chef! Our guests LOVE his restaurant and his gastropub called Spoon! GREAT THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA - Rockhounding for gems (emeralds and garnets are all over) and minerals - Visit the National Mineral Museum - Sightseeing - Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway! - Visit Waterfalls, Great Trails and State and National Parks - Kayaking, Tubing, Canoeing, WW rafting - try Loafers Glory - Swimming, Biking, and Running - Fishing & Cooking Outdoors - talk to us about scheduling an excursion! - Rock Climbing & Hiking - Farm Tours, Farmers Markets & Agritourism of all kinds - U-Pick Fruit - including heritage apples native to the area - Shopping & Antiquing - Wineries & Craft Breweries - Visit Artist Studios & Galleries - Shop for Fine Craft - Go on Studio Tours (pottery, glass, basketry, metal, fibers and more! - Take a class at Penland ( 1 week, 2 week, and intensive courses available) - Visit Yancey Theater - $6 a person for a current movie in an old-style theater - Go to a festival or outdoor concert - lots to choose from - ask us for more info! VISITING IN THE OFF-SEASON Views in winter are amazing! However, in winter (usually mid-December through February) some businesses keep different hours or even close, while others do creative things like popup restaurants and winter openings. Ask us if you are concerned about visiting in off-season. THINGS TO DO: Spruce Pine is a known retreat for people living in Charlotte, Asheville, and Knoxville, TN. Just 15 minutes away from the house, the downtown area of the town is like a stop in time when things were a bit simpler. A river runs right through the center and to one side are railroad tracks and small shops, restaurants, cafes and antique stores and on the other, you'll find a park with a pool, playground, and a put-in for canoes and tubing. It's a great spot for playing, picnics, and fishing. Ingles Market is a full service grocery store that is within 15 minutes of the cabin. It is similar to a Kroger or Publix. On the outskirts, there is Walmart for general supplies and a host of mom and pop options, too! WANT TO KNOW MORE? Let us know what you are into and we'd be happy to make recommendations! We are happy to help, whether you decide to stay with us or not.
  • Everything was as described and I found this a great spot for a quiet and relaxing getaway. The cabin is beautiful and had great amenities, including a well equipped kitchen and a nice area outside to enjoy the fresh air. Definitely would recommend to others and hopefully will be back at some point myself.

  • We stayed at Lisa's for a family vacation. We cannot put to words the view we had every day there! While the house was secluded, it was a short drive to anything we needed and all the outdoor activities we did was not that far either. The house is so unique and we enjoyed every minute there! We highly recommend staying if you are looking for a mountain get-away.

    Erin2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Conley House is a wonderful place to get away from it all and relax in the stillness of nature. It is peaceful and rejuvenating. The home is exceptionally clean and has spectacular views of the mountains. Lisa couldn't have been more helpful and responsive. I recommend not relying on GPS for navigation while there. It is rather remote and your GPS will want to take you on gravel back roads that form a maze. We are still laughing about Barely (a road) and Hardly (a road). Barely will eventually get you there but it's not recommended at night!

    Candace2017-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. The house was comfortable and nicely decorated. The kitchen was stocked with seasonings, pots, pans and cutlery for cooking. There is a very nice entertainment system which we used for music. In general, it was easy to feel at home. The location is pretty secluded which is great for relaxing (we only left once to go for a hike at Carver's Gap). The mountain view from the back yard is amazing and we spent a lot of time on the patio. I can't think of anything more I would want for a peaceful getaway. Lisa and Rick were friendly and accommodating. Overall, this was a great place to stay!

    Gordon2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is heaven, plain and simple. Lisa could not have been more present and available had she been next door, suggesting places to eat (Pig & Grits in Burnsville -- YUM!) and Spoon in Spruce Pine (fantastic!) among others, hikes, etc. (Spruce Pine is a town to watch, it's likely to become a hot spot in the next couple of years.) The house was spotless, and had a Zen like peacefulness about it. We made a fire outside and sat and watched the sun set, the full moon rise, and the stars appear one by one. We never watched TV, can't think why you would when you get to watch the mountains from anywhere in the house. Fantastic bathtub with jets, and wonderful bath products -- soaking salts, essential oils, etc. This place is perfect, and we'll go back there every chance we get!

    Meg2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place is WONDERFUL! First of all, it is very clean. The decorations are very tasteful and it is fully equipped with anything you may need. Anything in the kitchen you need, you will find it. Plenty of towels, blankets, etc. Had a queen size blow up mattress that was a size of a regular bed almost. Very handy for extra guests. Push the button and its ready. Washer and dryer if needed. The bedrooms are large and beds are very comfortable. Loved the living room. The best gathering spot. Plenty of seating. The scenery is GORGEOUS. Mountains everywhere and you feel like a king on top of the world! Wonderful patio with seating outside. We used the firepit. Kids loved the smores. We drove to sugar mountain to snow tube. Took almost an hour from the cabin, but it was a pretty drive and we had a blast. We ate at a Mountain View restaurant, that's the actual name for it. It's in Marion. It was great. Excellent views. The cabin was spacious! Do buy plenty of groceries because --you may not want to leave. Once you get there its not too simple to get out. Curvy roads... It was nice to know that we are fully stocked with food and we can just enjoy and drink more wine, and not have to worry about leaving the cabin. I recommend this place 100%. Also Lisa communicated VERY WELL. All my questions were answered quickly and she gave so many suggestions. She truly wanted us to have a great time. It was my husbands 40th Birthday. Thanks Lisa! Many memories were made in your cabin. God bless your family!

    Anya2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was GORGEOUS! Along with the view, jet tub, and beautiful kitchen as well! The beds were so comfortable and it was very easy to feel at home.

    Megan2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is STUNNING! The views are amazing from each + every room and the house is brimming with special touches. We enjoyed the open floorplan, the lovely patio, the well-manicured grounds and chic modern decor. I appreciated that our dog was welcomed and that Lisa quickly + thoroughly answered questions both before + during our 2 week visit. The house was very tidy + well-stocked with comfortable beds and an ample kitchen. Penland School is about 2 miles away and the area is rich with artists + pottery studios. The house is quite obviously well-loved and the flower gardens were a welcome surprise! We spotted an abundance of deer, bunnies, squirrels, etc. on the main road. Having hot tea on the patio while overlooking 3,000 Christmas trees + a handful of majestic mountains was a blood-pressure-reducing treat and I hope to return soon! Two quick thoughts: a) The house doesn't currently have central AC, though there are several fans provided. One of the weeks we stayed was unusually hot and we ventured to a local store to purchase 3 more mondo-sized fans to keep us comfortable. If you're traveling in warmer months, it might be wise to bring along a few fans from home. b) The gravel driveway is steep and the house is located on a rural (read here: unpaved) road. We brought both our sports car + our SUV. The sports car was pretty useless on that driveway. I vote for utilizing a 4WD vehicle if possible. Don't let either of these things deter you from selecting Conley House. The house + view are absolutely worth running fans + the slow, winding drive! Locally, we enjoyed: a) Knife & Fork was FABULOUS... one of the loveliest lunches I've had in a while. b) The Artist Studios at Penland School are absolutely worth a visit. c) Scenic hikes abound. Thank you Lisa + Rick!

Secluded but not remote. Take advantage of trails, creeks, firepit, gas grill, pond, and so much more. Horses on the property are sometimes available for rental but not guaranteed. You can also can rent a kayak to fish or float on the pond. Lots of room to play. With peace and privacy on 300 acres, we're a nature lover's paradise. Please read the entire description below as there is not a category that fits exactly. Listed price is for up to 10 guests. Each additional guest is $10/night.
Our Lodge on a 300 acre mountain sanctuary is ideal for family reunions, college groups, or church youth, women's, or men's retreats, etc. It sleeps up to 22 people with a variety of bed sizes. Dogs may be allowed, but please specify that you wish to bring a dog in your request as it is allowed upon prior approval only and it will be considered an additional guest when booking. The Lodge was built as a retreat center type inn and I and my family live in it as the innkeepers. We'll help with any questions and have the coffee pot ready. We respect your privacy and your level of interaction with us is entirely up to you. The Lodge is handicap accessible with a ramp outside, wide hallway and wide exterior and interior doorways. Bedrooms are as follows: (1) Private bedroom with 1 queen adjustable bed, satellite TV and private bath (2) Suite/dorm with 1 king bed, 4 singles, a rollaway, and room for air mattresses. It has satellite TV, a refrigerator, and a private bath. (3)Walk-out level bunkroom/dorm with 10 beds and a bathroom with 2 showers. It also has a full size refrigerator. This bunkroom has a separate entrance and is not directly accessible from inside the rest of the house. (Great for separating boys and girls dorms.) The beds in this room are very basic bunks with pads. If you are renting through this ad, you are basically renting a block of rooms with full access to all common areas. There are 2 futon/sofas in the living/hearth room for additional sleeping. There will be no other guests in the house and your privacy will be respected, however we do live here as the innkeepers. Satellite TV and wireless internet are available in the house, but house internet is not the greatest in this area of the mountains. If you have Verizon, your cellular data should work well. The kitchen is semi-commercial with large sinks and easy access to a large selection of cookware and dinnerware. The dining area has 2 large tables with benches to seat about 16 (8 per table). These are also great craft activity tables. The front porch and deck provide more tables and chairs along with a picnic table in the front yard. The common area is an open floor plan that combines the dining area and the hearth area. The hearth area has a beautiful authentic stone fireplace. This is a nice gathering room. There is a piano, and the chess/checker table is a favorite. The indoor fireplace was from the original old log cabin that used to stand on the exact spot as the current house. the fireplace is still basically functional, but we do recommend wood fires be kept to the outdoor fire pit especially if anyone has smoke sensitivities. Please feel free to explore on-site hiking trails. You'll find amazing views, cascading creeks, and an abundance of wildlife along the way ranging from songbirds and squirrels to turkeys and whitetail deer. Black bear sightings are extremely rare as they are very shy and stay as far from people as they can. Also enjoy the fish pond, a large yard for games, a fire pit and a gas grill. You may rent a kayak to float or fish on the pond. There are horses on the property that may be available for rental with advance notice but not guaranteed. It is a separate business through my daughter. She teaches beginner riding lessons and does occasional trail rides for experienced riders.
The property is private yet not isolated, only about a half mile off a U.S. highway. We're only about 3 miles from Historic Downtown Spruce Pine where you'll find antique stores, crafts, restaurants, groceries, and even a regional hospital. Nearby attractions also include rafting, gem mining, golf, hiking and horseback riding. We're centrally located between Mt. Mitchell (tallest mtn east of the Mississippi), Roan Mountain (world's largest natural rhododendron garden), and Grandfather Mountain (mile high swinging bridge and wildlife preserve). The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 7 miles away. Go either direction on the parkway and visit either Crabtree Falls or Linville Falls. We're also about midway between Asheville, NC, Boone, NC, and Johnson City, TN.
  • I took a group of students here for a leadership retreat. This place is perfect for a large crowd. We had plenty of room and plates for breakfast and a nice place for a fire at night. Patsy was great to work with and spent so much time making sure that we were on the same page. We hope that we can do it again next year.

    Kristen2017-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • My colleagues and I had a very pleasant stay at Patsy's home. We were in the area on business and did not arrive until evening, then left early the next morning, so we didn't have much time to enjoy the surroundings, but the area is beautiful. The house was very clean and Patsy was very friendly. The listing as "entire home" is a bit misleading as Patsy and her family do live in the home, but we had more than enough room and they gave us plenty of privacy.

    Sara2015-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • If you like to get away from your busy, mundane city life to a really peaceful, serene and beautiful place, then this is the one for you. The cabin itself is amazing in every aspect, it is family friendly, good for huge groups, surrounded by gorgeous views - trees, streams and mountains. You will never want to go back! Patsy and Becky were such great hosts, they communicated all the necessary information in a timely manner and left no space for any doubt or confusion. They were really kind and gave us space to enjoy our time there. Becky also offers Horse riding for those who are interested - this definitely was the highlight of our trip. My friends and me would absolutely love to go back!! Huge shout out to Patsy and Becky - Thank you so much :)

  • Great home on a beautiful property. Lots of space to enjoy the great outdoors. Many areas for group gatherings.

    John2014-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Your host, Patsy, was very friendly and welcomed us into her home and yet we hardly knew she was there. The place exceeded our expectations. It was remote and quiet and suited our group of 20 perfectly! The view was perfect and we had a lovely fire in the outdoor campfire every night. It was like sleep away camp with the two bunkrooms. Our wedding guests loved it and a good time was had by all. It was a quick 3 mile drive from restaurants and stores. Not too far from Asheville. Thanks, Patsy! Look forward to coming back.

    Cheryl2015-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice cabin with breathtaking views. My friends and I had a ton of fun here. Patsy was very nice and made the place feel like home. And all the animals! We definitely recommend spending couple of days here while enjoying the great views at Blue Ridge!

    Tom2015-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed out stay at the Lodge. We only rented one room (Full bed with attached bath). The bed was comfortable and the home was clean. We were allowed to use the items in the kitchen and Patsy made coffee each morning. Patsy, her daughter and grandchildren were a pleasure to get to know and we loved meeting and playing with their dog, Little bit, and their very friendly cats (all outdoor animals). Our dog loved the space to run around and had fun playing with their dog. We would recommend their home!

  • We really enjoyed our stay with Patsy at her beautiful lodge. Patsy was extremely helpful and we exchanged several messages during the booking process, to which she was prompt and accurate in replying. When we got there, Patsy gave us a tour of the lodge and was very accommodating in making some small changes per our needs. We were a pretty large group of 9 adults and 3 kids and everyone left extremely happy and satisfied. We would love to go back!

  • This is the perfect spot to stay if your taking a class at Penland School of Craft. It is right down the rd and offers comfy artistic accommodations with attention to detail. Jo and Shawn have done a great job anticipating every little thing you might need even down to an iron and ironing board. Just perfect :)

  • This place is great! Incredibly thought out and lovingly decorated. Jo and Shawn were very communicative throughout our stay and check in and out was easy. We were here for a long term stay (over a month) and it was the perfect location and space for both relaxing and working. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and the loft is perfect for napping. The deck is wonderful for reading, eating and watching the birds. Jo and Shawn are very respectful of your space and privacy but are available for any questions or a glass of wine. Would stay with them again in a heart beat!

  • Such an amazing place! Personally knew I would like a bit of downtime after a full day of classes at Penland, and this turned out to be even better than expected. Honestly, the pictures do not do it justice! Surrounded by the owner's own beautiful artwork was inspirational. The grounds are a work of art itself! And Jo and Shawn went out of their way to provide the best of unexpected amenities. I loved every moment and hated to leave.

    Anne2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very much enjoyed the creative environment of shawn and jo's place. If you are considering a visit to this area of NC, you should definitely hope to get a booking at their place.

  • A wonderful private retreat, nicely appointed and furnished. As a student at Penland, I appreciate the proximity to campus but also the ability to have a quiet personal space to relax. I will definitely be requesting this property again on any future visits to the area.

Less than 100 yards walk and just minutes drive from some of the best trout and smallmouth fishing in the southeast, this change of scenery from Charlotte metro was medicine for our souls. Tubing is also possible in this gorgeous little stretch of river. My wife and I will be rescheduling in the future.

  • Great lil mini vacation spot. It was fun to be in an RV without having to haul it. We really enjoyed the fire ring by the creek, it was very relaxing to sit under the moon next to the fire listening to the crickets and the babbling creek. We had things to do in Burnsville and Spruce Pine and this spot was in between both.

  • Suzanne and Bill were wonderful hosts. The inn is nestled in the mountains in a very convenient spot for hikers or others looking to experience the outdoors. The room was beautiful and Suzanne helped us to get oriented after our late arrival. For breakfast she served oats, honey baked pears, and yogurt that was excellent. I've spent a lot of nights in W's, JW's, and Double Trees as a business traveler but I'd take Suzanne's inn over those chains any day. Already looking forward to our next visit!

  • Great place to stay in a great location! Jada was wonderful to work with; very friendly and accomodating for my group. I also appreciated how easy she was to communicate with. We had a great stay at the cabin.

  • Beautiful, clean cabin in great location!

    Stacey2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Penland Cottage is a comfortable, convenient place to stay while exploring sights along the Blue Ridge Parkway and the many artists' galleries in the area. It is an old country house that has been updated with new appliances and conveniences. The addition of the sunroom/dining room is the best part. The large windows let in natural light and create a pleasant, truly multi-purpose area. There is a large yard with a stream and a stone fireplace for outside sitting and cooking. We did not take advantage of this outside area because we were out exploring the area. We especially enjoyed Mt. Mitchell, Linville Gorge and Wiseman Overlook. Jada has equipped the cottage with many new and well chosen items to ensure a comfortable visit. We would like stay at Penland Cottage again when we have the opportunity. There is so much to see and do in the area.

  • My fiancé and I stayed at Hawk's View for 5 nights in the middle of December and could not have asked for a better experience. We had seen the photos online of the beautiful views from the house but the photos do not do it justice. The house, the view, and our host were more than we could have expected. We had a tiny hiccup with one of the appliances during our stay and Cynthia could not have been more helpful, easy to contact, or accommodating. She did everything she could to make sure we had the best stay possible. While I'm sure the surrounding area is nice (and it did look nice on our drive) we could hardly get ourselves to leave the comfort and views of the house to do much exploring. Thank you Cynthia for a great stay and we will definitely be back in the future.

    Derek2016-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Booking was extremely efficient as was checkin/checkout. Cynthia was always near with a helpful email to answer any questions. Finding this beautifully secluded property took some patience but the directions provided prior to checking in were right on target.

  • We stayed here for our tenth wedding anniversary. We wanted a quick weekend getaway that provided both seclusion and a peaceful atmosphere--Hawks View did not disappoint. The views at sunrise and sunset are majestic and I spent most of my time in the wonderful hammock reading a book on their beautiful porch. Truly an amazing place.

Just minutes from Penland School of Crafts, at Parson's Glen, you'll enjoy lush landscapes, flourishing wildlife and serene sounds on 10 acres of North Carolina countryside!
With accommodations for up to 8 guests, this post-Civil War era farmhouse offers quaint and quirky spaces for all your comforts and needs!
  • Cozy house with a front porch to die for. 4-wheel drive is a big help.

  • This is a fantastic, quaint and charming old farm house; the lot is secluded and nature is gorgeous. We enjoyed the wildlife and the fireflies.

  • Wonderful property with acres of wonderful smelling Christmas trees out the side door! Hosts were so helpful with directions and rapid response when we were getting in super late and winding through dark roads...a time error on our part (got to remember the time change)! Our kids enjoyed exploring the property and never complained about no AC as it is not needed! Ample supplies for staying and cooking there. Full sized washer and dryer. Kids saw deer, a bunny, and turkeys! Close to many sites and waterfalls! Grocery near by and good places to eat as well. Sitting on the porch in the cool morning was the best! If I was a writer I would rent to write from here...very peaceful and nice! Very neat and clean...felt like grandmother's home! A warm hug of a place! Fresh baked bread to greet us was wonderful too! Thank you Bates family!

    Kathy (and Mark)2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was wonderful! I highly recommend a visit to Parson's Glen. Kris & Terry communicated everything clearly and promptly, and were easy to get in touch with. They even left a fresh loaf of sourdough bread in the fridge for us to enjoy - DELICIOUS. Four friends and I were planning a reunion, and we chose this as our weekend getaway spot. It's a fascinating house - clean and colorful and comfortable. We spent a lot of time out on the porch rocking chairs, or playing games and cooking in the kitchen. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, cookware, and any appliances you might need. They also left plenty of towels & soap for us to use if we needed them. The house is only 30 minutes from the Crabtree Falls trailhead (where we went hiking one afternoon), though I'm sure its proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway would give you easy access to countless other hikes as well. We were completely satisfied with our stay, and would stay here again!

  • We had such an amazing stay! The hosts were great and responded quickly to our questions. We loved the house, the property, the wildlife that visited -- everything was just lovely. We loved reading about the history of the house as well in the provided binder. The area pamphlets and recommended sites were quite helpful as well. Those little touches and extra details were very much appreciated. We highly recommend this place!

    Melissa2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Parson's Glen. It was beautiful, clean, and a great value. The owners went above and beyond welcoming us with home made bread, snacks, and toiletries. They even cleaned up and fashioned bench seating around the fire pit because I told him we wanted to make smores. We would definitely come back.

    Alex2017-10-01T00:00:00Z

  • Kris's family farm is a great rental property! We had a great 2 night stay. It's close to lots of great hiking trails, Mt Mitchell and Linville Falls are about an hr away, there are also lots of pottery and artist 'trails' to stop at. The house is great for a family, Kris provides a lot more than basic needs. Coffee, condiments and even a loaf of homemade sourdough bread was provided. I would definitely rent this property again!

  • It was very good place, clean and great host

    Vamshi2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice large flat in a convenient location right in Spruce Pine. The master bedroom was quite spacious with a very comfortable bed, and the split bedroom layout would offer privacy even for multiple guests. I only had two issues with the property. First: the door to the apartment appears to have suffered an attempted forced entry at some point in the past which was disconcerting, and second: neither soap nor shampoo were provided. The multi-zone AC system was a rare luxury compared with other area rentals that provide no cooling systems, and a fantastic benefit during an August trip.

    Ian2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about Crystal Place. It was easy to access a wide range of activities along the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as Asheville. The apartment was clean, well furnished and had a wide range of amenities for the guests. The only knock during our experience was that on the last day right before we checked out, the fire alarm went off for no real reason and we had to spend an hour in the parking lot waiting for the fire truck to arrive and let us back in. This did affect our experience for which we have deducted a star. The cell coverage is poor in the area and so reaching the host via phone is not easy in cases of such an emergency.

  • Crystal Place is a very spacious, accommodating third story flat in a quiet mountain town. Very nicely furnished, with an extremely comfortable bed. We were in close proximity to the National Parks, great hikes, and scenic views. Also, within walking distance to a coffee shop, and several restaurants as well as downtown shops.

This cabin is perfect for just about any kind of vacation you can imagine in the mountains. Whether you choose to stay around the house reading, swinging, and listening to nature or use it as a home base for exploring, you'll be happy here!
Cool elevation, secluded and private woodland setting, yet six miles to historic downtown Spruce Pine and twelve miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Only an hour to Asheville or Grandfather Mountain. This cabin is newly redecorated. It's a lovely and comfortable space with beautiful views from the back porch. It is truly a mountain experience with lots of opportunity to hike or just sit on the porch and enjoy the serenity.
From the cabin you will be unable to see another house, yet neighbors are nearby. Spend quiet days away from your normal hurried routine, or head into one of the many small towns in this area for some local flavor…Spruce Pine is ten minutes away, Burnsville is 15 minutes away, and Bakersville is 15 minutes away. Mt. Mitchell State Park and Carolina Hemlocks are nearby, as well as Roan Mountain State Park and The Appalachian Trail. The Blacksmith’s Festival, Mt. Mitchell Crafts Fair and TRAC Studio Tours are just a few of the events that occur each year. Make time for a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway—stop at the Apple Orchard and scenic overlooks. Enjoy horseback riding at Springmaid Mountain. Make this your home base for adventures further away—Chimney Rock State Park, the Nantahala Outdoor Center, Linville Falls and Grandfather Mountain are all excellent day trips. Don't forget to visit Penland!
  • The cabin has beautiful views. The house was decorated very nicely. I had a hard time finding it initially. Due to weak cell/gps service, the phone directions were inaccurate. Once I drove to a place with better cell phone service, Abby was able to provide more specific instructions. Overall, we enjoyed the stay.

  • This mountaintop cabin was just the break we needed after a hectic week of moving our college student daughter into a new apartment in Baltimore. Quiet, peaceful and private, with an unbelievable view, the cabin was warm and welcoming after a 9 hour drive. We were glad that we arrived before nightfall, because it might have been a little hard to find in the dark. As the saying goes, half of the adventure is getting there. The road to the cabin is well maintained, but you definitely need four wheel drive on some portions. The porch with its swing, and rocking chairs invites you to sit a while and just listen and take in the view of the distant mountain ridges. Sunrise was spectacular, with the distant ridges turning golden as the sun light hit them. Afternoon brought the clouds that give the Smokey Mountains their name down upon the cabin, and we could literally lean over the railing and touch the clouds. Our Sprint cell phone service was a bit of an issue upon our arrival. We eventually got it straightened out, and between the three of us we had roaming coverage for our voice and data, though not always both at the same time. A visit to Penland School of Crafts was our main purpose for this trip. And I would suggest any guest stop by for a quick visit if you are in the area. The road is well marked and easy to find. Spruce Pine, the small town down the mountain, was a nice surprise, with some pretty good restaurants, and shopping. Our host Abby was great. She contacted us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. Though our visit was brief, we will definitely consider staying here again on future trips.

  • Abigail's cabin is more than what is described. Just like she mentions, it is sufficiently remote but neighbors are not too far away. While we had a 4x4, the brief climb is probably do-able in a regular vehicle too. There are supermarkets and a few good restaurants in Spruce Pine nearby. We were a family of 4 adults and a 4 yo child and were very comfortable. Abigail has thoughtfully included all necessities in the cabin. The jig-saw puzzles in the basement were a hit with my nephew. The view from the cabin is just fabulous. Waking up to such a view makes your day. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy a stay in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

    Gautam2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful location. Great cabin. Would be very appropriate for a couple families size-wise. It was just myself and fiance we enjoyed all aspects of our stay. Definitely recommend booking this place for a quiet relaxing getaway

  • It is the perfect place for a weekend get-away. Quiet and close to the mountains. Amazing view! Can't miss this one.

  • Abigail's cabin was just as described. It was pretty high up on the mountain, which was great for the views. We spent a lot of time on the back porch, which offers breathtaking views, especially early in the morning!! Checking in was by keypad, so that was very easy. Abigail texted and was available if we needed anything, although we never needed to contact her. I would gladly stay here again if my travels take me to that area. Thank you for a wonderful, homey place to stay.

    Carla2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Abby was very responsive to any need. She responded quickly to every inquiry and made sure we had the best way to contact her at every step. The location was terrific and private. There was easy access to the parkway and to Penland School of Crafts.

    Emily2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • The view is spectacular, and we had everything we needed. We have a 6-year-old and 10-year-old and were able to go gem mining (15 minute away), visit Penland School for Crafts (15 minutes away) and visit Grandfather Mountain (45 minutes away). This was the second time we stayed here and loved every minute of it once again.

  • Beautiful home, we stayed 2 extra nights. To no fault of the owner we couldn't use the fireplace because of birds nesting, after viewing pictures of the house we were looking forward to the fireplace as we were traveling from Florida. I would stay there again. I would have made it a 5 star review if the fireplace place was available and there was a Jacuzzi. Home is nice and clean with a great location

  • This house is really beautiful!! What an amazing, relaxing, and beautiful spot. We only spent two nights but enjoyed every aspect of this place. Especially, we loved the golf course view in the house. Even though the golf course is near the house, but we still felt so secluded and private. Great kitchen set up and everything you need is right at the house. Hope we have a chance to visit again!

  • This place was amazing! It was the perfect central area for our adventures along the BRP for the week. The home was beautiful and we instantly felt comfortable in the space. When back in the area, this is where we will stay. So thankful the home was available for our trip!

  • Absolutely a perfect location for amy activities around the mountains. If you are there just to relax or golf you cannot bat this location. The host was amazing, to the point on instructions and always reachable. The place at a minimum can take six people(3 bedrooms-2 are JJ). Lots of space in living room. Kitchen is completely equipped. Will go back there in a heart beat.

Our home offers an incredible year-round panoramic view. It is at a higher altitude than the Blue Ridge Parkway! If you like the views from the Blue Ridge Parkway pull-offs, imagine getting that view sitting in the living room or relaxing on your own private deck at an altitude of 3900 Feet! Please note: our neighbors are very sensitive to noise ... please read the House Rules before requesting to book our house!
Our house is all about providing a comfortable place to unwind and enjoy the million-dollar view, be it from the deck, living room, master bedroom, or dining room. Of course it's also a great home base for day trips throughout the Blue Ridge. The house is perched at the top of one of the highest ridges in the Little Switzerland area at the top of a 1-acre lot that has been cleared of all tall trees, ensuring year-round short-range and long-range views. The house is less than 10 years old and in great condition with every modern convenience, including fiber-based high-speed internet service, 55" 4KTV with streaming capability and Blu-Ray player in Living Room, and a 46" HDTV in master bedroom with streaming capability and Blu-Ray player.
The neighborhood is quiet with a paved road all the way to the house (including a paved driveway). The neighborhood is far above the Blue Ridge Parkway and Hwy 226, so there is no road noise unlike most neighborhoods in Little Switzerland. The only road in view (and earshot) is the road leading to a few neighbors' houses.
  • Lovely home, great for larger family, great location to use as a base. Everything you need in the home is there.

Artist owned, Sky Acres is a passive solar mountaintop home on twenty beautiful wooded acres. Rolling mountains and colorful sunsets fill the view from the west and the night sky becomes a planetarium. On quiet mornings wake to singing birds.
We are located on a quiet mountain with unlimited hiking but just minutes from the quaint town of Bakersville where you can find a grocery store, pharmacy as well as art galleries and banks.
Our home is just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Penland School of Crafts and just 45 minutes from the fun town of Asheville.
  • Awesome place. Gorgeous Blue Ridge mountain sunset view every evening. Our two week stay was great in every way. The spacious home is well appointed with art including the owners fine line of pottery. There is an ease in everyday living. All the essentials are provided. Sitting on a remote hilltop, the quiet and solitude suited us well after long days of study at Penland. Only twenty minutes from two fun towns, Spruce Pine and Burnsville. Each has several superb restaurants and good shopping options. The landscaping completes the serene feeling of this hideaway. Hummingbirds and swallow tail butterflies flocked daily to the open spaces around the cabin. In all, Elaine's place is more special than we had imagined. We will definitely stay again next time we're in this area.

    James 2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed Elaine's perfectly appointed cottage, full of local artist's crafts and a bit of her own, too. Ideally situated close to Penland and the Blue Ridge Highway, the setting is perfect, perched on a peak, with 180 degree views of the landscape. The wrap-around deck encourages outdoor dining, bird watching, yoga or just swinging the day away. The house includes anything and everything a traveler desires, from a completely stocked kitchen with one gas and one wood-burning stove to the comfortable couches next to the stacked stone fireplace. 2 spacious bedrooms with 2 full baths are the perfect accommodations for a family with kids. We hated to leave and we will be back!

  • The pictures don't do this place justice, it's BEAUTIFUL! We enjoyed the peacefulness of the view and the fire place. We will be back!

    kiernan2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very cozy and relaxing. For the most part, we spent most of our time on the swing on the deck looking at the mountains. The sunset was amazing. We would stay here again.

    Kaitlin2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot write enough about Elaine's house. The property is beautiful, the views are otherworldly and the interior style made us feel at home. We enjoyed coffee on the porch swing every morning and wine by the fireplace in the evenings. I cannot remember the last time we had such a relaxing weekend. The location allows for easy access to the Parkway and lots of hiking options. Elaine was a great host, she responds to messages quickly and efficiently.

    Kevin2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you like a cozy yet roomy house, filled with great art and art energy with a stunning view, then this is the place for you. My wife and I stayed for three nights and could have stayed a week. The lot is secluded and the house has everything you need to set up and settle in. We loved eating off of all the pottery china. The fireplace draws as well as any fireplace I'd ever used and gave us two nights of great fires. And Elaine was great, answering all of our questions and even gave us a little more time checking out since no one else was arriving that day. I would highly recommend her place.

    Grant2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough about this view! It's rare to find a place with sunset long-range views and this place has it. We had wonderful weather all weekend and spent most of our time outside. Elaine was great and provided great check-in instructions, coffee, a grill and anything else we needed.

    Jessika2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was a beautiful setting. House is a nice size. If it is hot, then the lack of AC may be a comfort issue for some. Loved the porch and swing.

  • We had a great stay at Lisa's. The newly renovated home was more than we expected. Bright open spaces make for a great experience in the North Carolina's mountains and the closeness to the river make this home perfect for enjoying some time away. Home has plenty of room for guests and a cozy wood burning fireplace, ping-pong table and other amenities. It was nice that Lisa provided WiFi since we had another family arriving later than us and we had zero cell coverage, so we could communicate with them to check up on their trip. Amazing! We hope to make this a frequent destination for our family. Thanks a lot Lisa!!

    David2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Lisa's house. It was very secluded and we enjoyed walking down to the bridge from the house. The kitchen was wonderful and we played games around the huge dinning room table. The ping pong and foosball table were great to have also! The bathrooms were beautiful and for the price you cant beat having all these bedrooms! Our girls trip was relaxing. Just a short drive to little Switzerland for food and close to crabtree falls for a hike!

    Megan2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa communicated quickly and clearly, and getting to River Nest was a breeze. If you're looking for somewhere quiet, peaceful, and restful, this is the place to go. The sound of the river in the background is very soothing, and at night, the stars were beautiful. The interior is well-designed and comfortable, and everything was sparkling clean. The kitchen is well-outfitted - be prepared to bring what you need for awesome food! There's a great view from the living room. I didn't have a chance to try out the wood stove, but I'd recommend it to the next guests!

    Hannah2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! One of the best weekends of fun we have had ever! The house is spacious and the river spectacular. Spent the day fishing (not catching as we are amateurs), playing on the bridge and flattening coins on the train tracks. Plenty of room in the kitchen to cook and enjoy everyones company while doing so. I hope we can come back soon!

    Tracy2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this house by the river. It is the perfect getaway. Tastefully furnished and redecorated, it is a joy! It is spacious, airy and full of light. It has all the equipment you could need.

  • This is a lovely spot and if you want to explore Penland as I did you are within a short walk of the main campus. Suzanne was the perfect host...flowers in the room and a lovely and filling breakfast with organic and fresh ingredients. The Inn is a classic mountain cottage with a historic background and that was important to me. The whole area is charming, quiet and scenic. If you want an authentic and lovingly kept property with mountain charm this is it!

The place is a bit out of the way if your are just passing by it is perfect if you are visiting the Craft School. The drive to the inn is very scenic. • Chinquapin reminded me of the kind of mountain cabin my family used to go to when I was young - natural, rustic, and organic. It took me back to a time prior to motels and over-commercialized tourist traps. The neighborhood was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. I enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to others.

  • I had a good stay at Patsy's house, a nice, remote location for relaxing or as a base for hiking (that's what I did). The host's family is nice and good to talk to. The room is as advertised. If you are looking for a getaway or hiking base with rustic atmosphere, I can recommend it!

  • Super clean and I felt like I was at a relative's home. Patsy was very flexible with our late arrival and was gracious and relaxed. The gravel drive up the hill is just enough to get you off the beaten path and let you know you have been invited to a unique property. Enjoyed the very comfortable bed with a foam topper. Unfortunately, we had to leave early but would have loved to hang around for a while. Next time!

    Kathy2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Patsy kept communication open to make sure all would be happy. Room was neat and clean. Would stay there again.

  • Patsy and her daughter were very welcoming and offered some suggestions on things to do in the area. The fire pit was amazing! The space is good for a family or group of friends. We were a group of 5 friends and it was a comfortable space. My friends said 2 of the twin beds were uncomfortable to sleep on. But the others were good (king size was great!). Would recommend her place.

    katie2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is set next to a running stream, at the base of a hill, surrounded by horses n gorgeous landscape. There is a gas grill and also a fire pit which I wish I had been able to use if it weren't rainy n too late in the evening. If anything, I do not think Patsy's description does the place justice. It was much nicer then and more beautiful then I could have imagined! The living space is simple and quaint but has everything thing one needs to enjoy themselves n relax. Each room is equipt with their own thermostat, which I thought was nice and very convenient. The cottage is close to town and very close to Penland School of Craft for those not wanting to stay on campus during their week long workshops.

  • It was great staying in the Red Cottage. We felt welcome and at home. The cottage was very spacious and beautifully located, only miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. • This is a beautiful home and a great place to stay. Nine of us stayed for a night on our way to South Carolina. We didn't arrive until 11:00 pm or so because of traffic conditions, but we were still greeted when we arrived. The area is beautiful, and it has a secluded but comfortable feel. The host made us feel at home immediately and had whatever amenities we needed. The room is private from the rest of the house, but the people who lived there were very accessible if we needed them. Also great if you are a pet person! Plenty of friendly cats/dogs/horses around the house. The home is a bit out of the way, but an excellent option if you want to get away for a bit! I highly recommend staying here.

    Justin2016-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted warmly when we arrived with a nice note and soon most of the very nice family and pets! The place was just as described and we were able to sleep comfortably to get ready for a full day at the gem show the next day.

  • Overall a good place and nice people. Its a beautiful location and extremely affordable. You couldn't get mobile network (mine was t mobile) though so if you are expecting important calls this may not be the best place but the host had wifi network. The family had lovely cats and dogs who are. friendly. It is an interesting experience for sure. Have fun exploring! Cheers.

  • We had a great stay at Patsy's place. She and her family were very thoughtful and always there to help out. The property was beautiful and great for hiking and enjoying the outdoors without having to go far. It was great!

  • It is just a beautiful place with beautiful people! We felt very welcome and the horse back riding with Becky was a cherry on the cake.. Had a great day!

    Annelotte2016-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The location is a right in the middle of the forest (sort off), which could be scary for some and awesome news for the adventurous folks like me. The place 2 dogs and a couple of cats. One of the dogs is really friendly and the other one stays out to guard the house against nearby animals since there is a lake nearby. The room I stayed in had 5 bunk beds and a crib, ample blankets, pillows were provided. The room has a coffee machine and a fridge. The kitchen/dining area has picnic benches that can accommodate many. The living area has a lot of interesting things to look around, lot of antique stuff, A WORKING PIANO, a lazy-boy to relax. So in all, this is a pretty interesting place to live and Patsy is really helpful and kind. And just be aware that the location is reached after driving through a half mile gravel driveway, dont be surprised by that.

  • Patsy's place was cute and quaint. It was the perfect size for my boyfriend and I to stop over for the night. It wasn't very big, but it was warm and had all the appropriate amenities. The little stream next to the house was wonderful to wake up to in the morning. I would definitely recommend staying here.

  • We arrived into a nice cozy little home just fit and enough for our small family and we felt at home all the time we spent here. House was nice and clean. Fall colors here with the creek cutting thru the front and a hill on the back of house with a horse grazing was a perfect setting that welcomed us. Thank you Patsy and family for letting us stay here and making our trip memorable one.

    Liju2015-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Really a great lil quaint place. It is old with character. Much better then being stuck in a hotel with who knows who's next door. There's a huge covered patio with nice rocking chairs to enjoy a cool mountain breeze. Along the side of the home is a peaceful creek with a fire pit aside it. We stayed hear while working nearby so didn't get to enjoy the property to the fullest but the area is a great small town American town. Plenty of places to shop and eat nearby. Oh and did I mention the fishing in the area. Spruce Pines is loaded with world class trout steams and rivers.

  • This is the PERFECT getaway place. The pictures on the listing are very accurate. Everything looked the same. Sitting on the back porch at night and listening to the creek 20 ft away was so relaxing. Our phones had zero service before we ever made it there so the wifi inside was the perfect way to keep in touch with our kids back home and share the pictures we took of the view. Patsy was a wonderful host. The only thing I could possibly say about this place is maybe add an ashtray on the porch. We had to put the cigarettes out and then throw the butts away inside which I was scared would make the room stink. We will most definitely be looking into Patsy's place FIRST next time we are up that way. Amazing value!!!

    Carmen2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was wonderful. We arrived late. The cottage was open and everything was ready. It was quaint and cozy. Everything was clean and eelcoming. The creek was right off the backdoor. We could hear it as soon as we got out of the truck. The grocery store was only 3 miles away. We enjoyed breakfast creekside at the outdoor table. We watched the horses in the pastures while ate. Highly reccommended. I hope we can stay longer next time.

  • My boyfriend and I had planned to go camping for the weekend for his birthday. Unfortunately the weather turned against us. We were able to book this seriously beautiful cottage on short notice. Patsy's daughter Becky was so sweet and helpful. She made sure we had everything we needed. The cottage itself is so peaceful and quaint. The river off the back porch was lovely. It was the perfect mountain get away. Thank you guys so much. Hopefully we will be able to visit again soon!!!

  • We had a very relaxing time at the Yellow Cottage, loved waking up to the sound of the stream and the view was beautiful. We had all the amenities we needed for our retreat away from city life and enjoyed the quaint little town of Spruce Pine. We hiked the nearby falls and looked forward to returning to our peaceful retreat. We will return soon!

    Jessica2015-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the cottage was perfect, as we were visiting a friend at nearby Penland School of Craft. The cottage was clean and had the essential cookware and there is a lovely brook right by the house. There was no booklet on locations of area market, restaurants, etc. Unfortunately we had to search out Patsy after waiting for four hours in the cottage---I would have called but there was no cell service for AT & T.
