Vacation Rentals in Peka Peka

Just booked in Peka Peka

Waikawa Beach is just 1 hour 20 minutes drive North of Wellington, New Zealand - and one of the best kept secrets of the coastline. You won't find tourists here - you'll be lucky to bump into locals it's such a jewel. Undisturbed coastline to stroll along. This house sleeps 12 comfortably...has two lounges, seperate dining area, wood burner, 2 indoor bathrooms, 1 external shower box, open air outdoor bath (tap feed but with endless water heated by outdoor fireplace)... Double garage...basketball hoop, pool table, table tennis table. A few bikes for the kids. If you want another aspect of NZ from a tourist perspective, or are a local looking for somewhere different to stay...this is such a great place.
There are no shops, cafes or other distractions for the kids. No wifi either or TV. So this is where you really get to strip back and enjoy the area. The walks on the beach are stunning - on a good day you can see both Ruapehu and Taranaki. And lots of bird life from Kapiti Island sanctuary nearby.
  • Just stayed one night in the house and arrived late so couldn't enjoy the stay so much. Helpful host who helped us to sleep in the house even as we didn't had the opportunity to reply as we should. Thank you!

  • Cosy cottage. Nice and quiet.

    Sarah2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed staying at this cozy cottage very much - it contains everything to be self sufficient and is full of light with beautiful views into the garden. Romain and his wife were very helpful with getting us and our toddler all set up (providing toys, baby seat) and Romain enquired regularly, if everything was fine. We felt well cared for and would stay there again!

    Anne & Tim2017-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was exactly what we needed. Very quiet cosy place yet close enough to the beach and shops. The property was exactly how it is described and we enjoyed our stay and will definitely come here again next time.

  • Romain and his family were very welcoming and friendly. We loved the place and would definitely recommend - had everything we needed and felt like a home away from home

    Alice2017-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • A great cottage, clean and tidy with everything you need. Every window looks out on greenery, the Tuis were singing in the trees and it was all very relaxing. Highly recommended.

    Simon2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a great AirBnb experience. Romain is a wonderful, friendly host who will oblige with any requests. The little cottage is wonderful and has everything you need, better that a motel. Little extras like milk and jam as well as coffee, tea and sugar weren't expected. Having a convection/microwave oven and cooking elements meant you didn't have to eat out. The kitchen was very modern and the cottage was very clean and tidy and well looked after. We are definitely keen to return.

    Ross2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was lovely. Perfect retreat after a long days work. Romaine, Ana and the kids were wonderful hosts. Helpful, hospitable, approachable, friendly and knowledgeable(about the area). The Cottage was immaculate amd comfortable. Romaine was quick with communications. Awesome stay - from booking to the end. I would go back again if theyll have me when next I am in Waikanae

Hello and welcome (!) Whether you travel alone or in group, the house is set up for six, plus portacot. It is lush outside, open inside, and minutes from the beach.. River, endless walking & cycling tracks, cafes, take aways, supermarket, cinemas, galleries, pools and train station. Expressway too, to the rest of Kapiti, its Island, & Wellington City: 40mns by car 1 scenic hour by train There are brochures from the Info Centre, which could guide you and inspire you.. And I'm a call away ^ ^
If you like nature you will love it here! It's lush, organic, quiet - or with music ;) Sometimes sunny, others dramatic. The indoor/outdoor flows, it's user friendly, has option to fully fence by closing the gate, and it's character all the way! Feel free to roam the property or just chill at your leisure. *Regarding kids they can roam too as long as you explore together first to make sure.. Have fun, enjoy, and welcome again ***
Kapiti is laid back and friendly, Nature is all around, breathtaking and invigorating! You'll see people of all ages cycling the tracks, walking the windy beaches or hills with family or friends. Everyone loves a good coffee or drink, a movie, browsing the shops or chilling at home. Kapiti Coasters are avid gardeners and their projects are on show all year round and for everyone!
  • Very quite and warm place to stay. The host was really kind and helpful as well. The warm sunshine in the kitchen window was the best.My family was comfortable and happy. Thank you.

  • What a lovely relaxing bach! This place was to us the perfect little spot to unwind, chill and enjoy song birds and spend time as a fam. It's close to the Waikanae river and forest reserve that makes for a lovely walk and only 5 minutes from the beach, a well stocked Four Square, cafes and parks for the little ones. The area was so quiet and the residents we met while on our walks were friendly and helpful. In the mornings, you will be greeted by birdsong as you sit on the verandah sipping beautiful Wellington coffee. Catherine also provides a great pantry and additional lovely things like beach towels and sun screen. The house is well equipped and we just simply loved it. We will be back! :)

  • This is a great apartment in a great location, in a beautiful part of New Zealand. Very efficient and easy to book, excellent communication from the hosts, and easy to find. Just a few Kms off the main road, and a pleasant walk, or 2 minute drive to the unspoilt beach, where you can walk for hours. This apartment is a great base to explore from, and is very spacious. It has a private entry, and is self-contained. Modern bathroom, incredible water pressure, gym area and a sauna! Would highly recommend a stay here if you're planning hiking or cycling around this part of New Zealand. Loads of trails. About 10 mins from the Ruth Pretty Catering School if you're coming up for a weekend course.

  • Beautiful scenery and the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. Bill and Lorraine left us juice, tea, coffee and plenty of breakfast supplies. We came back early on our second day so that we could spend more time in this cosy studio. Bill and Lorraine gave us complete privacy when we were there which really let us feel like we were getting away from it all. What a perfect getaway.

  • Great new quiet place in a beautiful landscape a bit north of Waikanae Beach with its beautiful beach and some good restaurants. Stayed here only for a night, could have easily stayed longer. There is a little hill in front of the apartment where you can overlook the whole area and the sea. Beautiful. The place itself is spotless. There's a kitchenette with microwave and view of the ocean, but no other cooking options. But all you need for a few days. Bed beautiful. Outside is a little patio with table. Finally the hosts were wonderful. Very helpful and very caring. Two thumbs up. Great stop on the way to/from Wellington.

Places my guests visit - Southward car museum- 11 min drive time Forest Lakes conference centre- 21 min drive time Parkwood retirement- 8 min drive time Kapiti Equestrian - 6 min drive time El Rancho - 6 min drive time. Sudbury farm - 10 min drive time. Te Horo beach - 13 min drive time. Ruth Pretty cooking school - 11 min drive time. The Milk Station - 16 min drive time. Bus stop very close by if you want to venture further. But I enjoy a drink and a book on the deck!!
  • Super cute cottage, with all the mod cons while being relaxed and comfortable. Close to the beach, and a nice walk to the shops and bakery. Karli was a very accommodating host.

  • A great place to stay right near the beach and other amenities. The house sits on a rise above the road and gets all day sun which is lovely. The interior has been really nicely renovated and the kitchen and bathroom are a pleasure to use. Would highly recommend and would definitely book again. Those who enjoy a firm mattress will be in for a treat. Liked the black out blinds in the main bedroom. It made it very easy to sleep (and keep out the evening sun)

    Deidre2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed Karli's place - it's stylish and modern, and bigger than it looks in the photos. Great open-plan living, kitchen, dining and two comfy compact bedrooms. The kids were pleased with the wifi and the heat pump kept us warm when outside it was chilly but clear, a classic Kapiti winter weekend!

My place is pretty special. Known as The Round House, it has a unique 180 degree window that brings the beautiful outside right into the house. It's elevated so has a wonderful view of the surrounding area and Kapiti Island. It's our much-loved family bach but we get a kick out of other people coming and experiencing how special it is.

  • Although we didn’t spend much time with Coco, Yanni and their two lovely children they were great hosts. A lovely, comfortable home in a beautiful and quiet location. Coco and Yanni made us feel welcome and although our stay with them was very brief, we would highly recommend Edenland. Thanks Coco, Yanni and family for your hospitality. (Review by Terry).

My place is a 3.5 h hobby farm, close to the beach, restaurants and dining, great views of Kapiti Landscape, art and culture, including my own Awatea Pottery studio, and forest parks. You’ll love my place because of the extensive gardens & alpacas & Llamas. Guests have described it as peaceful and relaxing My place is good for couples.
The tariff is $165 ( per double ) & $100 (for single ) reduced by 20% for extra days. Check my website www.awatealodge.co.nz for further information. I have 8 1/2 acres of landscaped woodlots, paddocks and gardens. Plenty of places for you to unwind. The spa pool & a roaring fire to keep you warm in winter
The neighbourhood consists of other small "lifestyle" blocks/farms. Great views and walking.
  • It is located 70 kilometers of the farm in the center of Wellington at Peka Peka, pretty small house by a group of cute sheep and alpaca who guard, we give it the name "camel Downton Abbey", every room has thick Scottish pastoral, and I spent the journey in the course of the ultra-high quality of sleep a night. Brent landlord gave us prepare an organic breakfast, peach sauce, honey comes from his estate. We chat for an hour, he was generous to me to share the story of his life, and take heart told me he was to life credo, "You will just be limited by your imagination", "All the guest come as strangers, leave as friend . "I hope I have the opportunity to go back.

The laundry has kitchenette facilities for making drinks and preparing simple food - continental breakfast is provided. There is no TV.
The property is on a back section and is secluded and quiet.
  • We enjoyed our stay. It was very calm and the hosts were very kind and welcoming. We recommend this house.

  • This was the perfect place to stay in an ideal location north of Wellington. I hope I can return there as I enjoyed the home comforts after living out a suitcase for the previous 2 weeks. I even managed to get my washing done and enjoyed relaxing in the garden sitting outside for breakfast. The space is very private and separate from the main house, however local advice is available if you need some. Car parking is off street in a safe area. Well worth stopping here with many local facilities and the Saturday market are all within a 5 minute walk. The place was clean and well equipped- way above your normal Air bnb. There is no TV but did not miss it for one minute! Thanks for a great stay in your home.

The guest suite occupies the downstairs portion of our house. It is self contained with a private entrance from a deck leading to the garden. It has a large master bedroom, a lounge with kitchenette & separate bathroom. The bathroom is bright & light & has modern fittings with shower, WC & vanity. The lounge includes a sofa bed, window seat, dining area & kitchenette, with facilities to self cater if required.
At our doorstep we have Waikanae Beach, Waikanae River & Estuary & the Waimanu Lagoons. The estuary is a feeding & breeding ground for many bird species. All areas offer plenty of walking & cycling tracks. In our area, at the end of the street are 3 cafes. There is also a mini 4 Square supermarket and not far away is a French style bakery & fish & chip shop. They are a 15-20min walk away, either along the street or walking the beach or it's a 3 min drive. So plenty of options nearby for food & good coffee. In the Waikanae Village are 2 larger supermarkets, chemists and Shoreline picture theatre. There are numerous other takeaways & cafe options too.
This is a quiet neighbourhood, bordered by lagoons and nature reserves. It has traditionally been a holiday location, but more permanent residents now occupy the housing.

  • Jan and Rogers airbnb was fantastic - we couldn't recommend it more. The place was spotless, roomy and very comfortable. The attention to detail, such as breakfast provided, information about the area and local restaurant menus was so thoughtful! Location wise it was perfect - within a couple of minutes walk to the beach and waikanae estuary and so peaceful. 5 stars!

Breathtaking views from our boutique olive grove over Kapiti Island and the South Island in a tranquil rural setting. We are 4kms from Waikanae village and the train leaves for the city every 30 minutes. We are 10 minutes south of the outlet shopping Mecca of Otaki! We will pick up from the station or Paraparaumu airport. The village and beach area have wonderful cafés and restaurants and we are close to the bird sanctuary - Nga Manu. There are 6 golf courses within a 40 minute radius.
Perfect accomodation for a quiet and peaceful time with breathtaking views from our boutique olive grove towards Kapiti Island and the South Island. Our tranquil rural setting is disturbed only by the native bird life. There are two luxury chic bedrooms and a shared lounge and bathroom. Unless travelling together and requiring two bedrooms, only ONE party will be booked at a time.
De-stress and relax! Stay at our tranquil rural retreat with stunning views and amazing native bird life. Great cafés and restaurants in the area. Harrison's Café is close by and is a great place for coffee and food, plus beautiful plants! Peka Peka and Waikanae beach are hidden secrets and good places to swim and walk on. Walking and cycling tracks are in abundance nearby. Ruth Pretty's café, kitchen shop and cooking school is but 10 minutes to the north.
  • A delightful location. Wonderful views over Kapiti island and the area. A well set place to stay in the middle of an olive grove. Great setup, great hosts. Lovely breakfast. This place exceeded expectations, which were high to start with! I'd strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for accommodation in the Waikanae and Peka Peka area.

  • My two friends and I had a wonderful one night's stay here, and it was just great from the moment we received Tricia's warm welcome on arrival. The house is a lot more modern and comfortable than we expected, and the photos don't do it justice. The bathroom in particular was huge, with a large shower and a jacuzzi, and beautiful products. The apartment was very tastefully decorated, and had a gorgeous view of the sunset over the ocean from the living room. The kitchen was a bit small, and only had a toaster and a kettle, but no stove, but we didn't really need anything more anyway. We only stayed there one night, before a day trip to the Kapiti Island (the ferry departure is less than 30 mins' drive from the house), but I hope I can come back there again, because it's a perfect place for a few quiet days on the Kapiti Coast, walks on the beach, and a relaxing mini-holiday.

Perched on the side of a sand dune one row back from Te Horo Beach on the Kapiti Coast, this wonderfully light, warm and architect-designed bach is a modern & stylish seaside retreat only 50 minutes' drive from New Zealand's capital city Wellington.
The bach was designed by architects Sam Kebbell and John Daish in 2001 – it's a sturdy little block house surrounded by a lawn which slopes down towards the beach. The well-equipped kitchen, dining and living space are combined downstairs with a mezzanine bedroom above. The bathroom is downstairs. A cleverly designed louvre over one window and a light curtain over the opposite window upstairs, allow for generous views of the sea and Kapiti Island. Extra guests are easily accommodated on a fold down sofa in the living room downstairs. One of the luxuries of staying in the bach is the continental breakfast provided for your stay. It includes homemade toasted muesli, fresh and poached organic fruit, yoghurt, tea, freshly ground coffee, homemade jams and a selection of breads, croissants and bagels. High quality bed linen and bathroom towels (but not beach towels) are also provided. To keep you warm in the winter, the woodburner (fire box) is set up ready for your arrival with plenty of firewood available as needed.
Te Horo Beach is a low-key, eclectic seaside community with a mixture of permanent and part-time residents. You will often have the sandy beach to yourself for as far as you can see. If you enjoy evening walks, you can watch the sun set behind Kapiti Island. Driftwood is washed down from the nearby Tararua mountains so there are plenty of places to rest and admire the view along the way.
  • Beautifully designed beach house, well set up and comfortable. Highly recommended!!!

    Janet2017-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Adrienne greeted us at the bach with fresh organic produce, homemade preserves, and freshly ground coffee along with delicious breakfast foods. This was a nice touch. The bach is in a lovely, quiet street just a short walk away from the beach. I appreciated hearing the sea at night. It was a great place to stay for relaxing and eating dinners in the evening sun in the garden. I would recommend staying here, and I'm sure it would also be nice in the winter because the fire heats the whole place up within minutes.

    Miriam2016-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • The stream is only by the architecture and stylish means a sensation. These Adrienne is a great hostess. We enjoyed the breakfast, especially their homemade granola, jams and fruit from her garden. At the beach you can walk wonderfully, Te Horo Beach is pleasantly quiet.

    Nick2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful little spot to stay in winter. The bach has a great wee fireplace which keeps the whole place very cosy. When you eventually wake up there are fabulous breakfast goodies provided to eat. The place is only surpassed by its owner – Adrienne, who is quick on the communication and marvellous to deal with. Worth a trip.

  • Perfect weekend getaway for two, reading books and relaxing in front of the fire. The supplies provided for breakfast were top knotch. Will happily recommend to friends and family

  • Awesome hosts and a very cool Bach! Adrienne was more than happy to allow us to extend our stay at the Bach. Great sunsets, and a nice quiet neighbourhood to visit in autumn. Easy access to the beach, where you can take nice long walks and enjoy views across to Kapati island and beyond. The Bach itself was modern with everything we needed (except wifi). I would recommend a stay here to any one wanting a peaceful getaway.
