Welcome to the High Road Santuario. A rustic 7 acre farmstead retreat located on the scenic High Road to Taos (New Mexico St Rd 76) in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, it is halfway between Santa Fe to the south and Taos to the north. We are set back about a 1/2 mile down a unmaintained dirt road in the mouth of the canyon. Be prepared for bumpy and possibly muddy conditions.
High Road Santuario is a quiet, secluded, yet easily accessible property that supports relaxation and healing through quiet communion with nature. We are a sustainability focused farmstead- currently bringing what was once a vibrant organic farm back to life and production. The property is surrounded by Carson National Forest, with endless hiking- perhaps to Trampas Lake or fishing on the Trampas River. An ideal stop for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, rustic Northern New Mexico beauty, and the rich history of the area. A great stop for cyclists along the High Road. The rental space is a detached strawbale casita about 100 yards from the main house. There is a kitchenette with mini fridge, hot plate, and electric tea kettle.
Founded in 1751 by twelve Spanish families from Santa Fe, the town is known for the San José de Gracia Church, built between 1760 and 1776 and considered a model of the adobe colonial Spanish missions in New Mexico and is walking distance from our property. The Las Trampas Historic District was established by the National Park Service (NPS) in 1967. The San José de Gracia Church was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970.
  • What an inspiringly artistic little living space. I could sit there all day and watch how the changing light falls on the white-washed adobe. Really, everywhere you look in the studio and on the property, there is something to delight the senses. The outdoor solar shower was beautiful, and I loved hearing the sound rushing water from a nearby stream when I went down to the very upscale, delightful outhouse (that has a window looking out into the woods). Being at the studio was simply a delight, and the beautiful road out there was an experience in itself. I hope to visit again in the future. Take care, Laura

  • Perfect spot for exploring the towns along the Santa Fe-Taos High Road. The studio was very clean, private, and wonderfully tranquil. My son loved his area in the loft.

Farmhouse Casita in scenic Llano San Juan 10 minutes off the High Road to Taos. Full kitchen and bath with washer dryer. Private fenced yard with garden, patio table and lounge chair. Fire pit with wood. Spectacular mountain views and 10 farm acres to roam. Pets are OK but only small dogs inside. (kennel and/or fenced yard available for bigger dogs). Designated parking space and room for RVs. High speed Wifi is available. Pool table available on premises.
The Farmhouse Casita can sleep 4 ( one queen and a double sleeper sofa) An extra loft room in my house (queen mattress & twin bed) can be rented in case you need extra space. The Casita is part of an artist residence... art supplies are available upon request, an art studio/gallery is 10 minutes away for classes and space to explore creativity. We are in a quiet neighborhood on a dead end road so it is very quiet and peaceful with dark skies at night for star gazing. Our farm is next door to the old HogFarm commune (now an organic farm with taiji classes) and the Road Hog (a famous historical bus) is on our premises. Several friendly donkeys summer here. I pay a local woman a living wage to clean after each visit, and only request from quests 1/2 of what it costs.
Peñasco (the nearest Village) has several art galleries, the Sugar Nymphs Bistro (an excellent eatery), the Peñasco Theatre, several gas stations and mechanic shops, two small grocery stores, a hardware store, and a Family Dollar. There are many churches available as well as a Family Health Clinic and Forest Service Office. Picuris Pueblo is located right down the road and visitors can visit. They have fishing ponds, and exercise room and a bison herd that is sometimes visible. Their annual feast day is August 10th. Santa Barbara campground is right up the road with a river for fishing, space to camp and hiking trails leading into the Pecos Wilderness. The High Road Art Tour takes place the last two weekends of September and is an excellent time to visit over 30 local artists in their studios.
  • Great place to watch the solar eclipse! Highly recommend brunch at the local eatery, Sugar Nymphs Bistro, followed by a visit to Jean's art studio.

  • This is a beautiful house in a beautiful location. I did not fully appreciate from the pictures on the website how many windows there are and how much care and love were put into the design and renovation of this house. The kitchen was well stocked and Jean thought of nice little touches like farm eggs and granola for the visitors. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

  • This was my first booking and stay in AirBnB and I couldn't be more pleased. Jean is a wonderful host. Very comfortable, clean and spacious accommodations in an overall beautiful location.

  • Best airbnb! Jean was an amazing host! The place is clean, private, spacious and had everything we needed! Loved the remote location, the donkeys, and the quiet desert!

  • Jean's casita gave my three children and I a haven from which to enjoy glorious Northern New Mexico. Clean, comfortable, and filled with heart. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet space in which to read, do some art, or plan the next days trip into the surrounding area.

    Kirsten2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and two friends had a beautiful stay at Jean's place. Farm eggs and coffee in the fridge. Beautiful home with awesome view of surrounding mountains. This place feels secluded - very peaceful. Give yourself time to explore the local area as well as further afield to Taos and Santa Fe.

This vacation home is set in a rural area, hidden away in the mountains of New Mexico. We chose this home because it is quiet, secluded, and simply beautiful. Conveniently located 20 minutes away from Sipapu Ski Resort, family owned, it is often cited as the hidden gem of New Mexico. The property itself has 9 acres, home to a small creek, and a sprawled out forest that dips down from the back of the house. The surrounding view is expansive, featuring mountain ranges, and rolling hills.
  • It was very nice my staying at your home, I really enjoyed. The accommodation’s and the decoration it is vey nice and confy ! Very lovely and harm, I felt like being at my own feel home! I really enjoyed your bathroom the shower and sauna they are great. It was a great investment for sure. I am looking forward to stay again in the future. Thanks again.

Welcome to Rancho Surreal! 1 Bedroom Guest house adjacent to Carson National Forest. Set on 9 acres high in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains midway between Santa Fe, and Taos. This is a great place to relax in silence and nature. The sunny sitting room will allow you to watch the local birds and view of the mountains or slip onto the forest road for a hike up the hill. In winter its perfect for Cross Country Skiing right to the front door! We are 2+ miles off the main road in the woods!
We use our Guest house as a gallery in September as we are artists on the High Road to Taos Artisans Tour. There are many galleries in the area. We are literally in the National Forest. A chance to see back country of New Mexico you might not normally get to explore. This a great location if you are up in the mountains for fishing, hunting, skiing, hiking. Althea teaches beading and wire working. You can arrange for a private class during your stay if you like. In summer Rancho Surreal is a breeding ground for hummingbirds. Come see our nearly 5000 bird friends!
We are the last place before the wilderness area. Our Neighbors are about a half mile north. In summer the wildflowers are in bloom and you can hike up the mountains in the forest. In winter the snow can get deep but it is quiet and beautiful! We recommend 4WD or AWD in winter or muddy times. We are at 8300 ft Altitude. If you come from sea level or low altitude be aware of the extreme altitude. Stay hydrated! This is not your average city AirBnB. Rancho Surreal is definitely off the beaten path. A great place to stay if you are up in the mountains for hiking, biking, skiing, hunting, fishing.
  • We enjoyed our time at Rancho Surreal. We notified the hosts we would arrive late, no problem, they made a late check in very easy. The home is clean and comfortable. Fully furnished and included fine art on the walls. Almost like staying in a gallery. We very much enjoyed the forest around the hosts property, it is VERY beautiful indeed. We recommend Rancho Surreal to all. Thanks Althea and Clarence!

  • I picked the perfect place to explore the Santa Fe mountain area. This was just what I needed, a cozy getaway in the middle of Carson National forest. Everything was amazing. Althea and her husband were lovely and accommodating to my every need. I felt comfortable and welcomed like family. I will definitely come back if in the area.

  • This area of New MExico is so majical. AtheaRose's hospitality was wonderful....

    Nomi2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • All I can say is wow. From start to finish, Althea was just perfect. She was so fast to respond, checked in on me the day of, and was very communicative throughout. The property was outstanding. I had everything I needed, and if I didn’t, Althea provided it. It was such an incredibly beautiful place. Talk about secluded! The bed was super comfortable, with extra blankets and all! I had a fire in the chiminea at night, and enjoyed seeing the Milky Way for once! And to top it all off, Clarence brought over homemade goodies! So delicious and so thoughtful!

    Britany2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Must be experienced! One of the most unique living experiences I have encountered— plenty of space, wonderful nature surroundings with breath taking views! Hosts were incredibly genuine, down to earth artists with a sweet, beautiful dog. Great opportunity to un-plug and experience small, mountain town living. Definitely recommend to all nature lovers! I will undoubtedly return!

    Molly2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was everything we expected and more. The pictures of the guest house did not do it justice. It was very clean, quiet, quaint, and surrounded by a beautiful forest. The artwork in the guest house was beautiful too. Thea was a great host; she was very accommodating to our late check in, provided everything we needed, very quick to respond to my questions, recommended local places to go eat, and gave us tasty muffins in the morning. The area just has amazing beauty (especially in the fall!) and we found several places nearby to fly fish. I would absolutely love to stay here again. Thanks again!

    Lisa2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Please do not book this property. The place was dirty and full of filth. The linens were torn and the towels were not ready upon arrival. The closet in the bedroom had mice droppings in it and black crud all over the floor. The pillows were stained when inspected upon removal from the pillow cases. We were given two warnings about the 110lb Akita on the property and that any and all visitors should be sure to keep their dogs on leash because it will not end well for your dog. I should also mention that there is an electrical fence surrounding the property. This place is not warm and welcoming. Make sure you think twice before booking with this host.

Eclectically furnished artist/writers retreat, huge welcoming living area with wood burning stove, private bedrooms, great kitchen-gas and electric stoves. walk in shower/bath/steam room combo. light filled, quiet. amazing skies! 8,200 ft altitude.
  • This home was charming and spacious, much larger than in the photos. The area was beautiful and everyone was so friendly. We were surprised by snow in August! The steam room was an added plus. Paula was very responsive and made sure we had accurate directions.

    Lisa2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Paula is a wonderful host -- we never met, but everything was arranged perfectly for our arrival and with excellent communication. The house is an ongoing expansion of a very old, small adobe -- nicely restored. The additions make it quite spacious and full of light. It has a very well equipped kitchen (even a small espresso maker), wood stove/fireplace in the main room, and great steam room/shower. The location is definitely rural -- in the center of a very small village of small farms and mostly older small homes - a stone's throw from national forest. It's a perfect place to just hang, enjoy the garden, do personal work, take walks along the dirt road. Thanks, Paula.

    Tim2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for about 5 days and didn't want to leave! This house is gorgeous and the area is peaceful and beautiful. In the evening you will hear cows, bugs, and birds. I stayed in the bedroom with the softer bed and never wanted to get out of bed it was so comfortable! Everything was great and I will be staying here again next time I visit!

    Alexis2016-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • The house in Llanno is eclectic, quirky and very comfortable. The kitchen is small but very funtional with a Wolf range. Our dog and three year old grandson loved the yard!

  • We really had a wonderful stay. It was in a great location to explore Taos, Santa Fe, Carson National Forest, Santa Fe National Forest, Pecos Wilderness, Ojo Caliente, and much more. Everything was within a one hour drive. We are excited to make a return trip!

    Brian2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place. The location is stunning, there is amazing hiking nearby, and it is quiet. The kitchen, rooms, bathroom, wood stove and everything else were wonderful. It is a great retreat for a writer, pastor, artist, or anyone who wants to unplug.

    Nicole2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Paula's place is in a great location - just 1 hour 15 minutes to Santa Fe, even less to Taos. It is nestled in the mountains there, so any driving you do anywhere is absolutely gorgeous - an unexpected and true highlight of our trip! Communication was great and the place suited us for our honeymoon. It is also really big - you could easily fit lots of people comfortably.

    Emma2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We actually did not stay at Paula’s lovely house but I have to give her an excellent review as a hostess. She was in touch about all particulars for our arrival. And she very kindly and promptly made a refund when my extreme fear of mice made it impossible for me to stay at the house after seeing droppings as evidence of recent activity. Being a country house in Northern New Mexico, this is very common, but I could not have enjoyed this wonderful eclectic home b’c of my *absolute terror* —so it was wonderful of her to accommodate that. Highly recommended for those free of musophobia!

  • Gayle and Casita Ole were great. There's an awesome fire pit outside and a wood stove inside; Gayle was very responsive and helpful, and she gave us snacks and s'more supplies. She also makes a great salsa!

    Timothy2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • The hostess, Gayle, is very accommodating and friendly! She never hesitated to help us out, answer questions, or make us goodies to eat. The house itself is very cozy and inviting. There was plenty of space for all five of us to be comfortable (2 beds and a couch for sleeping accommodations). Plenty of hot water to go around, heated towels (pretty sweet!), and we never got cold inside despite the weather outside. We recommend bringing s'mores supplies and/or weenies to roast around the fire outside for a pleasantly relaxing night. There aren't many stores around, so if you want to bring food items to cook/make, we suggest getting them ahead of time to avoid having to make a long trip into town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and 10/10 would recommend.

    Nazim2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome host! Gayle is so sweet we had a great time and her house is spectacular and so comfortable

Highly recommended experience if you are looking for a place to stay away from ski resorts or just want to travel back in time!!

Adobe farmhouse, near Taos and Santa Fe, 13,000' views, cozy queen bed, private bath, kitchen, library, riverfront, apple trees, hammocks. Great ASTRONOMY and BIRDS! Beautiful Hiking trails, spectacular geology, local art to explore!
Casa Veranda is a restored hundred year old adobe home offering a comfortable base-camp for exploring the southern Rockies as well as fun in Taos and Santa Fe. It's a great place to kick back in cool temps and catch up on reading in hammock under apple trees. Dark Skies make for great astronomy and astrophotography…bring your scope! Riparian habitat invites wonderful birding. Nearby geology and art studios invite exploration.
I love that we are very rural, somewhat remote (expect half mile of gravel road) with breathtaking views of the mountains, clouds, ever-changing magical light so special to New Mexico. It is very quiet here, very peaceful and, most importantly, cool and dry…bring a sweater for summer nights! Nearest neighbors are neighboring horses in pasture.

My charming little adobe sits beautifully in the Ojo Sarco Valley, a great small community along the Scenic High Road. We are located roughly half way between Taos and Santa Fe, with skiing in all directions! Private entrance, great size room and bathroom with newly refurbished wood stove! Pets allowed!
I'm a retired teacher from the area and would love to welcome you to my home! It's a beautiful spot tucked away in the valley off the main road where it's amazingly quite (except for the occasional cow). We just put in a great new wood stove, well, refurbished but looks good as new! I'll make sure there's plenty of wood to accommodate for any temperature changes. I also want to offer to cook breakfast for guests, as it is about a 12 mile round trip drive to the nearest restaurant. Hope to have you stay!
Beautiful sunsets and sunrises and the peacefulness of being surrounded by NM beauty!
  • Very Quiet and private location. Beautiful scenic route and Taos is just a short drive Northeast.

  • Vera is the perfect host. She took great care of my husband and kids when they went there to ski. She is actually closer to Santa Fe than the GPS states. This is a good authentic New Mexico place to stay. It might be hard to get cell phone service but a landline was available.

    Cindy2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We are sorry we missed getting to meet Vera, maybe next time! Her home is in a rural area and just off the high road to Taos. It has a rustic, relaxed and authentic southwest adobe feel, and is surrounded by natural landscape. Lovely!

  • Vera was a wonderful host...she greeted us, offered us tea and shared a bit about her home, background, and life in northern NM. The room was beautiful and cozy! In the morning we had a great breakfast and headed out, happy and ready for the day. We loved Vera's place and enjoyed meeting her and her cute animals.

    Leigh2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful adobe home. Vera showed up pictures of its construction from ground up. The home was located in a natural setting and her pets of a dog, cat and parrot added to the sense of being closely connected to nature. Lastly, Vera's breakfasts were scrumptious...scrambled eggs, toast, jelly, yogurt and fruit.

    Edward2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Three words: What a Gem! This place is such an amazing adobe style home in the beautiful mountains of northern NM. What made our stay so special was our host, Vera; she was more than accommodating and such a bright spot on our trip. If you are looking for a unique and relaxing place to stay, this is your destination. We hope to make it back again one day-- thanks, Vera!

  • Very welcoming hostess and extremely accommodating with our last minute booking & late arrival on Thanksgiving Eve. Place was lit with candles and burning incense, which felt really homey to us. Bed was comfy. Great shower. Very peaceful location for a chilled out relaxing getaway. Breakfast of eggs, bacon and fruit was delish. Kindly gave us lots of recommendations of things to do during our Taos/Santa Fe getaway.

    Jen2016-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Vera's place. It's a bit secluded, but it served as both the perfect place for exploring nearby pueblos/Taos/Santa Fe and for completely disconnecting. Breakfast was simple, but delicious and Vera graciously adapted to our dietary restrictions (vegetarian + gluten free). The home itself is beautiful and stayed cool despite the heat. We both slept like rocks in the comfortable bed.

Explore the Land of Enchantment! This beautifully appointed Colorado style yurt is on acreage that borders the Embudo River in Dixon, NM. Walk with your coffee to the river and meditate. Dixon is a lovely community known for its history, culture and art. If you want to try something a little different and closer to nature without putting up a tent and rolling out your sleeping bag..try this!
The Queen size memory foam bed has 500 count cotton sheets. There is power in the yurt. Cell phone service can be sporadic on site, but it is better in town which is 1.5 miles down the road. The library has computers, wifi, copies, scanning and faxing. There is clean water available in the yurt in a water dispensing crock and a Brita water pitcher. An electric kettle is provided as well as tea and coffee and a coffee press. It is expected that guests will enjoy the local restaurants rather than preparing meals on site. There is a hot plate for warming up food. The outdoor kitchen has running water for 3 seasons and it is drained for the winter. The separate bathroom is now usable all seasons! Hot and cold water cast iron tub/shower....soak with local herbal products. Water is available on site in the winter and electric for heating water. We are 40 minutes from Ojo Caliente Resort and hot springs. All drives are lovely...we are on the Taos High Road Scenic Route. We have rafting, paddle boarding, hiking, galleries, skiing, fishing, shopping and so much more. The annual Dixon Studio Tour just completed. Book early for next year. Stay with us and ski Sipapu! Even in the winter we have beautiful sunny days!
  • LisaAnn was a wonderful host! The beautiful yurt and furnishings are excellent. The grounds and facility are tops. This is our best stay with Airbnb yet..... and we have stayed in many. We will return again soon.

  • This place is a magical refuge, a sanctuary. Lisa Ann is a fairy godmother who takes care of her place and her guests, allowing ample space and privacy but also attention and accommodation. I especially recommend staying here to artists and writers looking for simplicity, dignity, nature, and inspiration.

    Ryan2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time staying in the yurt! LisaAnn was so helpful and even made us breakfast in the outdoor kitchen with local ingredients from the farmers next door. You can walk to the river which is nice and secluded. The yurt has a deck with a lovely view and there are lots of great wineries nearby to buy a bottle from and bring home to enjoy on the deck. A great place to stay!

Dixon and the Embudo Valley are very rural and quiet. The community is very friendly and there are lots of community events occuring year-round. "Downtown" Dixon is a 5-10 minute walk.
  • Sarita's little Casita was just how I pictured it on the Airbnb site. It was warm and cozy a great location, quiet yet you could walk to a little restaurant and the co-op market. The house was very comfortable the bed was great and relaxing out on the porch looking at the full moon was a real treat . I know we will be back as it was such a sweet and relaxing experience . Sarita is a wonderful and kind host. I would recommend you staying here if you are going to Dixon or Taos. It is away from the crowds but yet very accessible to Taos and Santa Fe. Thanks Sarita for a wonderful comfy slice of heaven. Mary and Ben

  • This is a great little private casita. Down a private lane, bedroom overlooks a vineyard with a wine-tasting room. Little enclosure outside for the dog, nice place to eat within walking distance, and a generally beautiful location. Plus, Sarita is a great host and brought us homemade cookies.

    Luke2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • I loved everything about this trip! The home was just as the pictures described. Sarita was very kind and greeted us as soon as we pulled up. I was so pleased with La Casita. The home is so clean and comfortable. Another great plus is that everyone in the town of Dixon is super nice and friendly! We went to Vivac Winery and Blue Heron brewery which was very pleasant. No negative experience. We will definitely be returning!

  • Best stay in Dixon! Sarita's is peaceful, spotless, and totally warm and welcome. We love it and will plan to stay again and again!

  • La Casita is an amazing place and experience. Sarita is a gem! And Dixon is a hidden treasure. We will be back.

    Doreen2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We have been staying with Sarita at la casita since way before airbnb even existed, let alone had her listing. Sarita is a delightful hostess and the casita is amazing. If you want to be in an authentic adobe with plenty of room, a fabulous kitchen, and great places to walk nearby, this is your spot! Seculded and restful, yet within easy driving distance to Taos or Ojo Caliente, this is a great place to stay in Northern New Mexico.

    Nicole2016-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • La Casita was absolutely charming. We enjoyed lounging on the front porch sipping wine in the evenings and drinking coffee in the mornings. We accidentally left some shoes and Sarita mailed them back to us the next day. Sarita is a great host and lovely woman.

It's not often that one can step into the past. Relax in two hundred year old double Adobe stay cozy while watching snow fall in Winter and hummingbirds and flowers in the Summer. Guests appreciate the quiet for reading and writing and wildlife sightings....elk, deer, turkeys, porcupine, fox, coyote, wolf, black bear cub and momma, once had tracks of cougar, never saw him, ornithologists will be busy recording sightings of our mountain birds or.... Just breathe the alpine air....
Located halfway between Santa Fe and Taos it's a unique chance to step back in history. Many comment on the FEEL of the energies here. Been here 20 years and each day presents new discoveries. If you want adventures I know rafters, balloonists, artists, and musicians.
It's not a neighborhood it's an old stagecoach stop that sits alone half mile from the fire house.
  • Amazing host. Can't stress that enough. The home was so cute and in a very pretty location. She provided everything you need and even gave my dog treats. She is wonderful. So thankful to have met her! Thank you!

  • Looking for a great taste of rural New Mexico you have come the right place. Off the beaten trail for sure and one that does have spectacular views of North Eastern New Mexico. Gayle was a tremendous host and full of local info. The room is very cozy and the entire house has a very lived in feeling.

    Harold2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Gayle, her teen granddaughter, small dog and Bird were great hosts. The location is .2 miles past and on same side of street as the Fire Station, and actually pretty well marked IF you know ahead of time what you are looking for. The town is between several small, artistic laden towns and about hr from Taos. The roads are very wind-y, but WELL marked, so you need to go slowly. Very scenic!! The room is large and comfortable with a bathroom next it for private use. A small hallway and the common use kitchen separate this part of house from the rest . . . and we had our own entrance. We were given a large space in the fridge and had use of washer and dryer if we had needed it. Gayle changed out our big, fluffy towels frequently. She is cheerful and accommodating, and asked us to her family's 4th of July dinner & fireworks celebration. Very kind, considering we have a 2.5 yr old. The large property has 3 little pigs and young chickens to round out the country living. It was a very nice change for a long weekend. We found very nice restaurants at Gayle's recommendation.

    Kathleen2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Charming in every respect. The house is built around a 200 year old log cabin that now comprises one of the rooms. Gayle, the host, gave us a historical tour of the property and it's architecture. The room was comfy and charming with a bed that was firm, but with some type of pillow top to keep it from being too firm. Gayle provided lovely munchies on our arrival. Highly recommend.

    Randy2017-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a warm person gayle is and a superior host. She made us feel right at home and taken care of. Hot showers, coffee, one of the best beds I've ever slept in, and more! The stars out at Gayles place are unbelievable and it's a beautiful ride down the high road with all of the little shops in little towns. Worth it and wished we could have stayed another night but we were on a bike tour and had to keep on chugging up the hills.

    Brittney2017-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gayle’s place was warm and comfy. She was gracious and friendly. While it was difficult for us to find her place at night we would recommend it!

    Deb2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were so comfortable, the bed and linens were good quality. Private and cozy, everything you needed was provided, great shower with plenty of hot water, coffeemaker, Directv, all the comforts of home. Gayle was the perfect hostess. So helpful, kind and thoughtful. She's a great cook and always had little surprises for us. Think we made a new great friend.

18' tipi on the rio. bring a sleeping bag. toilet is outhouse with composting toilet. My place is close to Rafting, kayaking, fishing, rock climbing, horse back riding, hiking.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and big groups.
Composting toilet out house, wood stove inside, outdoor fire pit.
  • Tyler sent a helpful email before we arrived including activities to do around us, where things were on the property and address etc. Also, he was very kind to chop us wood for a fire and made us a bundle of sage to keep as a gift. It was a great cultural experience and the tipi was very cozy. My girlfriend really enjoyed it because it was camping with a little bit more fun. Gorgeous view in the morning and night.

    Brad2016-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tyler was a gracious and welcoming host. We found his place very easily. The area and river are beautiful, day and night. There was plenty of room in the tipi for the four of us (2 adults and 2 children), and the composting toilet was just down a short path. Tyler and his father drove us down the river two times and provided floats and adult life jackets for floating on the river. They were wonderful company. Child life jackets were rented at the store up the road. After our trip on the river, Tyler came out with watermelon to share. Tyler is very friendly, full of information about the area, and available. The neighbors were very nice too! I would highly recommend Tyler as a host, the location, and the tipi!

    Ann2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Tyler was very helpful and quick to answer my questions prior to arrival. He provided directions, some ideas for activities, and some personal tips for fishing in the river. We only had a one night stay but wish we could have stayed longer. It seemed like there was lots to explore in the area including some vineyards close by, great river rafting, and fishing. Beautiful spot.

    Sam2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay! My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay at Tyler's tipi, it was a unique experience for us both. Tyler was great with communication prior to our arrival and the site had everything that we needed. We even caught a large rainbow trout on the rocks right in front. Saw beavers doing their work a bit up river early in the morning, beautiful blue herons flying around, and the sound of bull frogs. Also very close to the racecourse whitewater rafting section, so in the morning we only had a 5 min drive for our rafting trip. Beautiful area, especially at sunset and sunrise. We couldn't have enjoyed it much more than we did, thanks Tyler! Highly recommend.

    Adam2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location just 15 mins away from Taos. Tyler's property is full of the true magic of nature. Animals. A Running River and crystals! Best air bnb yet!

    Ali2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Tyler made this a trip to remember. A very welcoming host he had plenty of historical tid bits and advice on what to do and see. The tipi was beautiful and authentic. There is kayaking, hiking, and beautiful canyon views.

    Lena2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Tyler is a fantastic host! He shared everything , including a hammock, table and chairs , and made sure we had drinking water. The best aspect was his sharing his knowledge of gold panning with my 12 year old son. He spent time with him showing him how to do it. My son is now saving his money to buy gold panning equipment!!

    Nancy2016-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tyler was an incredible dude! So many stories and an overall friendly environment. At all times of the day he was willing to take is on the river or hiking or many other local activities. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

An ideal stop for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, rustic Northern New Mexico beauty, and the rich history of the area. A great stop for bikers along the High Road.
