Newly converted and renovated old shopfront. Quirky and charming. There are few self-catering options this close to the centre of the Franschhoek village. Offering excellent security in one of South Africa's safest towns, our Tenement has easy, walkable access to just about everything in the village.
It's a quiet and rural neighbourhood just a few minutes walk to the restaurants, galleries and boutiques of Franschhoek high street. Converted old shop in quiet side street. Also easily walkable are the wine farms. There's a great cafe/deli (as well as five-star restaurant) virtually in-house.
  • Roberts place is very nice. We unfortunately arrived late and the keys were not available for us so it involved a bit of negotiating. Then when we got to the flat, it had not been clean from the previous owner. Because there was no wifi, we had to just stay the night without notifying Robert of the situation. He was very accommodating but it put a damper on the situation. The neighborhood is beautiful though.

  • Pretty awesome place. Everything what you needed was there. Very central - you can walk to all the shops/restaurants. I got a mail from Robert which gave a rating of the best restaurants in town - helped a lot

    Gerard2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Corresponding with Robert was really easy via the Airbnb app. The studio is well situated and neat. The design is unique and we as fellow Airbnb hosts will copy some of what we saw. Book with confidence. Great stay.

  • We enjoyed this petit & charming apt. Location is great. It was clean and comfortable. The bed is very convenient and we loved the shower and the cable T.V. The kitchen is very menimalistic. There is a short drive to pickup the keys. Note there is only one side, the entrence door, that has open air. Overall good value and fits the pics and description.

  • Great value for money , centrally located in town , close to all major attractions . Looks exactly like the pictures . The art deco interior is very stylish and something different .

    Deon2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Robert was incredibly thorough and welcoming, which was a big plus, as this was our first Airbnb experience. He provided all the standard information about key pickup, alarm, etc, but then went one further and gave advice on local places to eat & drink at. As our stay was over a Sunday night, some preliminary research from our side showed that many of the suggestions would unfortunately be closed. After mentioning this to him, he proceeded to give another bespoke list of inside info, which was worth its weight in gold. So not only do you get an incredibly chic 1-bedroom apartment, you also get local insight that could make your visit to Franschhoek that much better - especially if you happen to visit on a sleepy Sunday night. Thank you Robert.

    Kurt2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's apartment was great, easy walking distance to the centre of Franschhoek and had everything that we needed. Highly recommended! Thank you Robert

Truly beautiful contemporary 2 bedroom cottage located in the midst of 10 acres of land and vineyards and yet only a 20-30 minute walk from the village or 5 min. Eco-friendly luxury in a unique location with stunning views and relaxing vibes.
  • The listing description and pictures are exactly what you find on arrival. The cabin is enjoyable, very peaceful whilst being a short drive from anything one might need in franschhoek. The cabin is a bit on the cold side but that is sorted out by the lovely fireplace. Communication and hospitality was great, cleanliness good. We spent more time at the cabin than out of it as it was a pleasant place to be.

    Luyanda2015-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just beautiful with plenty of space and privacy. It is well-appointed with plenty of glass. It easily sleeps 4, although we were just 2. Our only problem was the heat, it was about 45 degrees Celsius in Franschoek at the time and of course this is nobody's fault. I would recommend that you spend your day on the vineyards/sightseeing since it was too hot for us to actually be at the house - it does cool down as soon as the sun begins to set however. The outdoor shower of the apartment really went a long way to cool us down many times. There is quite a steep off-road leading down to the house, just be careful if you are driving a low sitting vehicle or a sports car, otherwise you will be fine. We managed to find a local taxi service that picked us up very promptly - this is probably the best option to avoid drink-driving in any case. You'll be in walking distance to some fine vineyards and we found that the main road was a bit far to walk in the heat. If heat doesn't bother you and you want privacy - stay here.

  • very nice place, modern and serene. i didnt have the chance to meet the host but he was thoughtful to give us a call when we got to the cabin to make sure everything is in good order. recommending this if you want to enjoy the sceneries and tranquillity of franschhoek.

    Allan2015-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage in a very private location yet still near to town. Cottage is very comfortable with a wonderful fire place - so warm in winter but with multiple sliding doors = superb indoor / outdoor living in summer. Easy to find and staff helpful where required.

    Brian2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Kurt and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The cottage is in the most magnificent setting. It was our honeymoon and we even arrived to a bottle of bubbly on ice! which was a lovely thoughtful touch. the cottage is very well equipped and designed. We had a lovely relaxing time in gorgeous Franschhoek valley.

    Helen & Darryl2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Acacia cottage is located in a secluded hollow, surrounded by absolutely stunning views of the mountains. We greatly enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the wildlife that visited the large pond daily, in the extensive gardens. Jeffrey and Christine (gardener and housekeeper) were very friendly and helpful, without being intrusive. The full picture windows in the bedrooms were great, it was lovely to wake to the views. We were very comfortable, and do not hesitate to recommend this property to other travellers. During our stay there was a heatwave, which we did find caused some discomfort at night, the fans helped. Prior to arrival Kurt sent us many recommendations, do try them. We felt very secure in the Cottage, and were happy to sleep with the windows open.

    Nick2016-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful retreat in an outstanding location. Stunning views and extremely comfortable. Perfect for visiting the stunning vineyards of Franschhoek.

    Martyn2016-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • I chose to get engaged at Kurt's place and things could not have worked out better. Firstly, the setting is absolutely incredible - to be able to lie in bed overlooking the valley is quite something. The fireplace worked a charm, and ensured we didn't feel the icy cold conditions. Alrishka is the lady that sees you in - I cannot praise her enough! She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable, going as far as decorating the house whilst we were out so I could return to a romantic setting (candles, champagne, rose petals etc), everything was beautifully laid out and I am very grateful for the effort. Will definitely be back, and will be sure to tell everyone we know! Alrishka a massive thank you once again!

  • Absolutely fantastic visit with Walter and Colleen. Great room, great location, great food. Highly recommend to Stellenbosch visitors. They will make you feel like a special guest.

  • Walter and Colleen were very welcoming to their beautiful home. Breakfasts are amazing! Great location on Dorp Street and near some lovely wineries. Only 30 minutes' drive to Franschhoek as well. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay in their lovely home, shame our stay was so short.

  • The very cozy Victorian house is centrally located on Dorp St. with all its bars and restaurants. The room is equipped with everything you need. Walter and Colleen are awesome hosts, always helpful, nice to chat with and eager to share their home with their guests. The breakfast has probably been the best we ever had while travelling! We really enjoyed our time!

    Markus2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, great atmosphere, great breakfast and awesome hosts. Thank you Walter and Colleen.

    Peter2016-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Waler & Colleen for a week first but it was so wonderful that we came back the next week to stay there until the end of our trip. Travelling can be exhausting and I was looking for a place where we could recover well and fuel energy for of our daytrips. Luckily I found that exact place in Dorp street 43. The house has a very peaceful atmosphere to it, which might be created by the wooden floor and stairs and the chimney in the center in the living room. But it defenately also stems from the wonderful collection of original paintings and artworks which give the house a magical touch and yourself a feeling of deep harmony with the surrounding. This atmosphere continues when you walk through the big garden behind the house with at least four different beautiful lagoons where different spots invite you to sit down and relax. The rooms are just the same: absolutely beautyful. However the most important thing for me was to get good sleep... and that also is for sure! The beds are so comfortable that recreative sleep is guaranteed! You just have to take care not to stay there too long - its very temptive(URL HIDDEN)But as if all that was not perfect enough already, perfection comes with the breakfast that Colleen will provide for you in the morning. Just so much: it is more and better than a good start into your day requires. The whole B&B that Walter&Colleen are offering absolutely lovely and you will have a wonderful time there!! We will be comeing back ... soon :)

  • We had a wonderful stay at Casa Mori. The location of the house is truly magnificent, conveying a very pleasant calmness. You could not wish for better hosts, as Marylin and her husband really make you feel as part of their family especially when having dinner together at their house. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. We highly recommend this place.

    Florian2014-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at Marilyn's place and in stellenbosch was fantastic. We really enjoyed the view. It is a few minuten from Stellenbosch. The room was clean. Breakfast was made by Marilyn every morning and tasted wonderfull. We got a lot of tips from the whole family for the surroundings of stellenbosch. We definitly recommend people to stay here.

    Querine2015-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Marilyn and her family run a great establishment over at Casa Mori. The building itself is a beacon of beauty at the top of the street and every morning is met with good conversation over breakfast. We stayed for a couple of nights while enjoying wine country and got everything we were looking for. The grapes and olive trees in the front yard provide the serene view of what you expect from a vineyard in Stellenbosch and the hospitality of the family including their lovable dog Jabu puts a cherry on top. A big thanks to Julian for taking us out to meet his winemaking friends and give us a little idea what it's like to try and find an identity for Stellenbosch Cabernet.

    Anton2014-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place is really awesome! Great view, very lovely place and a great host! we loved it! Totally worth it!

  • We have enjoyed Casa Mori soo much! When we arrived we had a lovely sundown which could be enjoyed from out of our room. Everything was perfect. Marilyn and Eugine are lovely people who are more then willing to advice you about different wineries and restaurants in the area of Stellenbosch. Also with thanks to their son John, we had some lovely roundtrips in the surroundings. The room we had was very clean and and comfortable. The breakfast prepared by Marilyn in their own kitchen was delicious. We would love to come back here, but then for longer!

Quiet and tranquility surround while you are still only a short drive from Stellenbosch and in such close proximity to so many wonderful wine farms. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

It gives you the oportunity to share in information with all lovely guests of the house. We had never been in a place where we felt ourselves so confortable. From the cleanliness to the details. It was one the best airbnb places I've ever been. I can't do anything but recommend your place to every single friend who is planning to go to your town.

  • Dawie's house is a wonderful place to stay in Franschhoek in the middle of the winelands. The house is nestled between beautiful vineyards and mountains. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly, and Marilize gladly met us early to allow us to pick up keys in the morning before check-in, as we were taking the Wine Tram Tour throughout the day. The house is filled with many little touches to make it exceptionally liveable. There is a washing machine, TV, large lounge area, large bedroom and also a large bathroom; the house is equipped with all the amenities you may need. It is also just a 5min drive from the centre of town. Overall, this place is amazing and we will definitely stay here again when we visit Franschhoek.

Starting from the Airbnb we used Uber for our wine tour. We started with Warwick Wine Estate (R165 with Uber). After dinner in Stellenbosch we used Uber again to go back to the Airbnb, it was only R22! The room was really clean and good equipped. Heni and her husband were really kind and helpful. • What an amazing cottage. Was more than perfect for our needs. Super romantic with the fire place and I would highly recommend this to anyone! Our host greeted us on Friday with an amazing Moroccan soup, as it was freezing cold. Nothing was too much effort. We were allowed to check out late which really just allowed us to soak in the last couple of hours. We will be back!

  • This is a charming little cottage and a great place to stay in Franschhoek. Denise was a wonderful host, and the cottage is just as described. The attention to detail is great. The furnishing were lovely, there were nice qulity plates/cuttlery, fruit and milk was available... A lot of care has gone into the cottage. And it was absolutely spotless. You really can't ask for more. The location is good. Franschhoek is small and you can easily walk to the main street (or home from some of the terrific restaurants in town). Highly recommended.

Modern, clean and tastfully decorated. Excellent security. Pay-as-you-go mobile phone for your use. Full Dstv, wifi, reading books and information on the area will be provided.
Close to grocery shop, excellent restaurants and pharmacy. The town of Paarl is surrounded by numerous well known wine estates, offering for example goat cheeses cooking classes, superb wine tastings and excellent food. It is a 33 km drive to Stellenbosch, 35 km to famous Franshoek and 60 km to the centre of Cape Town. We also have a beautiful 27 hole golf course.
  • Everything & more! Lovely hosts, the accommodation was clean and we received and enjoyed exactly what was described in the advert. We'll definitely be back on the next trip.

  • This is probably the best Airbnb experience I ever have had. My boyfriend and I were attending a wedding nearby during the weekend, thus we spent 2 nights at Charl and Christa's place. The flat is beautiful with paintings decoration, air conditioning, shower gels and everything. And, they also provided us fruits and a little bit refreshments in the house too. Thank you for the lovely stay! :)

    Corn2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in Charl & Christa's flat. It was in a perfect location and they really made us feel at home. We will most definitely stay here again on our next visit to Cape Town!

  • What a fantastic stay with Charl and Christa they are great hosts and have a wonderful home with superb views in a very lovely part of Paarl. We are truly grateful to have stayed with such nice people!

  • Our overall experience was really good. The place is just exactly what we needed. We really felt welcome and had a good conversation with Charl and Christa.

    Olivier2015-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a quiet, peaceful and very safe place to stay. We had everything we needed and really appreciated the good wifi connection as I had work to do. There are shops and restaurants nearby.

    Patt2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved this place. Charl and Christa were hospitable and thoughtful and the space was private and safe. I stayed here with my partner while we were visiting the area and found it conveniently located for visits to wineries and some cute animal parks. Everything in the apartment was beautiful and modern, decorated thoughtfully and it was incredibly comfortable and clean. It has everything you need and more. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend this place.

You’ll love my place because it's Walking distance distance to the Village centre, lively Saturday market, restaurants, shops, supermarket , wine tram, art galleries etc.
Off road parking space is available to the side of the house, or roadside Parking in front of the house, visible from your room.
Although Franschhoek is a safe village, we do have external security beams and cameras outside the property.
  • Margaret and Roger, thank you for your hospitality. We had a lovely stay and wish you all the best. Roger, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Amazing first Airbnb experience.

    Daleen2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret's place is a beautiful, stylish and tranquil home which is situated a short walk from all major attractions in the scenic town of Franschoek in the Western Cape. The room catered for everything one would need during a short stay. The room and on-suite bathroom was exceptionally clean. Both Margaret and her husband are gracious and hospitable hosts and they not only made me feel welcome in their home but went out of their way to ensure my comfort. The blue berry pancakes for breakfast in the garden and conversations had was very special. I can recommend Margaret's beautiful home to anybody. I will most definitely be back. Regards

    Stefan2017-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Margret and her husband are wonderful hosts. The breakfast was lovely and we got a free bottle of wine too. The house is Advantageously located as the name suggests. Only drawback was that due to the drought and amount of available hot water we were not able to have a bath the night of arrival if we wanted to have a bath the next morning too. All in all good stay however.

  • Airbnbs don't get much better than this. Fabulous hosts, excellent location (especially if you plan on doing the wine tram) and a perfect healthy breakfast. It was like visiting extended family who also happened to be experts in the hotel industry. Honestly just stop reading and book the place!

  • Terence and Vicki are the perfect hosts with a wealth of good knowledge about Franschhoek. We stayed two nights and had a really great time. The room is beautiful, well taken care of, great bathroom and little amenities are available in the room. The house is very close to the wine tram and you can park off street on the property. This was such a good experience for us that we just did not want to leave! Highly recommended!

Room with double bed and divan in Victorian home in Stellenbosch on Dorp Street - South Africa's oldest residential street. From here you can explore the village, places of historical interest, shops, restaurants, museums, galleries safely on foot.
A historical home with character in the oldest residential street in South Africa. The house has two bedrooms - room #2 and room #1 - a living area, a library, a dining and kitchen area, a patio and garden. A bathroom with bath and shower and a separate toilet with basin are shared between the two guest rooms. The owners of the house, Colleen & Walter are living here and have their own private space upstairs in the attic. There is a third guest room available - room #3 - a smallish but cosy garden cottage room with en-suite shower/bath.
Friendly people all round. Closeness to all amenities and places of historical and cultural interest. Safe to walk.
  • We had a wonderful stay at Colleen and Walter's place: they really made us feel at home. They are so cosmopolitan, and so are their guests: we met everyday at a wonderful breafast table people from all walks of life, it was nice to tell each other our stories, to exchange travel tipps. If the world is a village, make sure you don't miss this unique crossroad at Colleen and Walter's. Our hosts were so nice, they made it hard for us to leave.

    Jacqueline2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Centrally located in beautiful Stellenbosch. Was only there for a night as was in town for a wedding so it was a pity we did not have much of a chance to spend time in the house and with the hosts. Definitely worth the stay

    Matthew2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Walter & Colleen`s home. We were greeted with the friendinest most hostibale host i have encounted during my stay in SA. I can truly recommend to stay at their wonderful cosy home. After the long flight to SA spending the first night in Stellenbosch and relaxing in their garden with fresh fruits and good wine in nice company was just priceless. Walter & Colleen were also very helpful with any question we had. There was nothing to complain about and we would certainly return!

    Nina2014-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Colleen and Walter are great hosts, it felt like visiting family, with a glass of wine and a chat in the garden. Delicious muesli and a lovely well located home. Thank you!

  • Walter and Coleen are the nicest people you will meet in South Africa. Very nice room and gardens. The breakfast was delicious and generous. Thank you Colleen and Walter for making our stay extra special. We hope to be back in town in the not too distant future. We would highly recommend staying at this lovely location.

  • Walter and Colleen where great hosts and very helpful. The house is located on a lovely street with a lot of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Great location and great hosts not surprised that some guests stay for much longer. The room I had was big and had everything I needed for a good nights rest. There were multiple options for breakfast and I could have stayed much longer.

    Steven2016-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • The place is as described... The garden is quiet. The house is close to the town center. Easy to park in front of the house. Breakfast is fresh and homemade. Nothing is missing : fruits, cheese... Just perfect ! Colleen and Walter are welcoming and helpful. They have a lot of good addresses ! We hardly recommend this quiet room in Stellenbosch.

A stable block surrounded by an amphitheater of mountains! Recently converted into basic accommodation. It affords an adventurous and quirky holiday experience for small or large groups. An hour outside Cape Town, it's beautiful, quiet & rustic. It has a cosy lounge and indoor fireplace; comfortable beds in stables that are somewhat open to the elements, a massive lawn, outdoor barbecue, a dam to swim in and horses to feed carrots to. Fantastic scenery, mountain biking & walking trails
Welcome to the Oaklands 40 stables accommodation. You can expect basic, rustic accommodation with plenty of mountains, some isolation, dams and a great lawn :) Winter brings with it marvels of flowing rivers and an overflowing dam! Take advantage of our winter pricing specials for your holiday, or special event. •Five stables have been converted into bedrooms with half stable doors (No full doors, apart from off the living spaces!) with comfortable beds. Three additional stables do not have beds and can be used to "camp" in using your own mattresses. • Basic kitchen amenities for 10, kitchen is well equipped. • Bring your own bedding. Per bed we supply a bottom sheet, pillow with a pillow case and a blanket. It is recommended you bring your own duvet or sleeping bag. • Lounge and dining area with a indoor fireplace. • Large lawn at the center of the stable block with fire pit and movable barbecue. Please take note that all fires need to be supervised at all times. Crochet playing set is available for on the lawn. • You come here to get away from technology. There is WiFi at the stables for watsapp calling otherwise you may need to drive off the property to get cellular signal. • We can accommodate extra guests to "camp" within empty stables in the block, at an additional camping fee, for larger groups we can also help you organise portable toilets at your own cost. There are approximately 15 empty stables in total. This is a good solution for bigger parties. Campers can also bring their own tents to set up on the wonderful lawn! • Accessing the farm will take you onto a dirt road that is well maintained but does have some areas that may be affected by rain, there is an alternative route with some humps. We recommend driving slowly an carefully. • If you need more information than is in this description you are welcome to message me and I will answer any of your queries.
Wellington is a very popular but unspoilt little wineland town with everything you need, and ideally situated to explore the famous Boland and Swartland wine farms. Many neighbouring farms have restaurants and wine-tasting facilities, and the area is famed for its fantastic hiking, and mountain biking. Interesting activities in the area I would suggest include: - Imbuko wine estate in Wellington for a pie and wine pairing - Extensive walking and mountain-biking trails take you all over the farm. These trails have featured in the Cape Epic Mountain Bike Race. - Doolhof Estate for lunch and wine tasting (cycle or walk there!) - Welvanpas for their lovely carrot cake and coffee, meet the direct descendants of Piet Retief (cycle or walk there!). - Hike up the Bainskloof river (go early, wear hats and sunblock). - Further afield go to Babylonstoren (amazing gardens and fine dining), Fairview (cheese and wine), Riebeekkasteel (olives), Paarl Spice Route, and many other places of interest - Shoe shopping at Redemption leather works
  • We went up to Alice's place for the weekend and were taken aback by how beautiful the farm was you feel so secluded and are still only an hour away from Cpt. there were quite a few of us and slept very comfortably would definitively recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life! Will def be coming back.

    Mathew2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • A truly unique experience. We really enjoyed it on the farm and we wish that we could have stayed longer. Thank you very much Alice, it was great...

  • Absolutely magical place..... perfect for a weekend away with a group of friends. Stunning location, great place overall... Will definitely be going back :)

    Sasha2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Alice is a phenomenal hostess! She surprised us by doing extra effort to research fun activities in the area around the venue. The venue itself is OMG beautiful! Great for quiet getaways, or, in our case, more than enough solitude to play music and have fun until sunrise. :)

    Geo2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a catch-up of old varsity friends in Alice's beautiful and rustic stables, and it was exactly what we'd been hoping for. Very basic and down-to-earth, the surroundings take you completely away from the city and allow you to unwind with ease. The croquet made things competitive, too! Recommended for anyone needing a back-to-basics getaway :-)

    Donovan2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's place is located in one of the loveliest areas of rolling hills, vineyards, forest and epic mountain vistas. She is also conveniently close to a number of wine estates where you can pop out for lunch or a wine tasting. The stables are very spacious, rustic but comfy, and everything is perfectly suited to a relaxed weekend away, especially for nature lovers. We visited on a chilly winter weekend and made the most of the fireplace and blankets. There are multiple braai and fire spots, and a lawn to chill, drink beers or play croquet on. We were quite a large group and Alice took us all in her stride and was friendly and accommodating. A rare gem of a place, we will definitely be going back. Two thumbs up!

    Sarah2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We chose not to stay at Alice's place. The half stable doors have no covering at all and therefore are open to the elements which if its windy, is most unpleasant. I love concrete floors but these are rough and crumbly. It looks tired worn and there are flies on all surfaces and the counters had crumbs on them, so it had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. Its really basic accommodation which will appeal to some folk, however it really did not suit us at all.

  • My husband and I were on our honeymoon to South Africa and we found this listing and were intrigued. We thought it would be such a special experience to stay on a wine estate, and we were right! The room was spacious and very private and the wine tasting room was directly across the way. We first met Chris, Jodi's husband, and he was very welcoming, even giving us contact info on where to find their wines in the U.S. We met Jodi the following morning and she was lovely, inviting us to walk around the estate. The wines (and beer they brew) were delicious, and you can enjoy them while looking out over a lawn with zebras, springbok, and wildebeest. The setting is gorgeous, although the the wildfires from the hot, dry conditions put a damper on the view. Stellenbosch is just a short drive away. Overall, we were very grateful for the experience and really enjoyed our stay!

    Miriam2016-01-21T00:00:00Z

In a rural setting and surrounded by vineyards The Covey is the perfect spot to get away from it all - situated 1.5km from the village centre. The private terrace looks onto a pretty flower garden, tranquil lawn and breath-taking mountain views.
Located next door to the owners house on a large piece of ground, The Covey is a cute little cottage with bags of character and all mod cons. The situation beneath the imposing Middagkrans Mountain and with views down the valley from the garden is simply stunning.
Franschhoek is the gourmet capital of South Africa and you will realise why once you have visited some of the wonderful dining options on offer. Le Lude a newly opened lunch spot just a few minutes drive from The Covey, is in a lovely setting with wonderful views and delicious food. The Franschhoek valley has wonderful scenery and a drive up the pass road to one of the viewing spots is a good place to appreciate its beauty. If you love wine you will be spoilt for choice - many hours can be spent sipping a local wine while gazing at the stunning mountains that surround the valley. Our favourite wineries include La Bri and La Motte but the Wine Tram is a great way to make your way round some of the wineries without having to drive. A visit to Franschhoek would not be complete without a closer look at the monument and a visit to the fascinating Huguenot museum. There are also many activities on offer such as horse riding, cycling, golf and hiking in the close vicinity. The beautiful town of Stellenbosch is only 25 minutes away and Cape Town 1 hour.
  • Perfect. Pretty much the only way to describe this. Phenomenally accommodating hosts, amazing views from the bottom of the garden, the cottage itself is better than in the photos, there are super cool dogs to hang out with, it's quiet (birdsong is pretty much all you hear) and the attention to detail is top class. From the bottle of wine to the milk in the fridge, the underfloor heating in the bathroom (a luxury in winter) to the decadent sheets on the bed everything is perfect. Will be back again and again. Thank you.

  • Emma's place was so amazing - we will be back as soon as possible. Great decor, location, friendly welcome and amazing pool with views. Thanks so much!!!

    Cat2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • We were welcomed by Emma at the cottage with a friendly reminder of what long weekends are about in the winter, relaxed and simple living. A warm and cosy fire was already burning nicely for us when we arrived and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was a pleasure to walk on after showering. The large bed and beautiful fittings throughout the cottage made it stylish and homely from the time we arrived to the moment we left. The cottage is situated in the perfect location which is away from the crowds but perfect for popping in to town in only a few minutes drive. There is a strong Internet connection for when you need to contact the outside world and a good sized kitchen for the nights you want to stay home. I highly recommend the cottage and am already looking forward to booking it again in the summer.

    Karen2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Pristine cottage with a fireplace, gas stove, dishwasher, a great bed, good linen, and chairs on the veranda where you can sit and gaze at the garden for hours. Cookies and, most importantly, a bottle of chilled wine.

  • For a real and nice romantic get away this the perfect place! Emma and Steven were such nice hosts and even the dogs were very heartly when we arrived espicially Lola, wich made us feel right at home! The foto's shown on airbnb are not doing it justice its spacious, has all the facilities. The best thing was waking up and have a nice cup of tea on the porch wich was an absolute treat. Emma and Steven put so much detail in the cottage that it really feels like getting home. Also Emma's coffeebar in town called "De Hoek" is as described on Tripadvisor the best coffee place in Town. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who wishes to stay in Franschhoek and still want the feeling of a place outside. We definitly will be back on our next trip to Franschhoek

    Dennis2016-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Although we only stayed two nights in Franschoek we absolutely loved it an Emma's place was a delightful and quiet spot surrounded by the most beautiful scenery. The cottage was immaculate and tastefully decorated in a country chic style. We especially appreciated the bottle of Sauvignon blanc in the fridge! It was within walking distance of the town for during the day and Emma organised a taxi for us in the evening. We didn't use the kitchen facilities as there were so many good places to eat in Franschoek. We took Emma's recommendation for breakfast at Cafe de Arts which was lovely. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

    Sarah2017-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 2 night stay at Emma's beautiful home. Walking distance to town, yet still retains some privacy....which was very welcome for us. The home was beautifully presented, and we considered ourselves very lucky to be staying where we were. Thanks Emma for supporting our visit to Franschoek with the best possible accommodation.

Franschhoek is set in a beautiful valley surrounded by the wine lands. The room is not attached to the main house, has its own entrance and use of the swimming pool, a five minute walk to the village and all restaurants. Suitable for two people.

  • We loved staying with Sue and Peter- they were a welcoming and delightful couple. True hosts and well deserving of their 5 star ratings. The room and bathroom were spotless and Sue provided little touches (tea and coffee facilities, bottled water, bathroom amenities) that made our stay that extra bit special. We especially loved the pool after a long hard day's wine tasting! The property is only a 10 minute walk into town for a wide selection of top restaurants and bars. The off street parking was also very helpful. We would without hesitation recommend staying with Sue and Peter - staying with them made our Franschhoek experience even more special. Thank you!

The cottage offers the charm of reed ceilings and wooden shutters, and an authentic farm atmosphere with private swimming pool. The cottage is located in our private game reserve, where Eland, Zebra, Wildebeest & Springbok roam freely.
  • We had a wonderful time staying in this quiet, serene farm environment. With beautiful Eland/Wildebeest/Zebra/Springbok frequently walking close to the cottage it was just awesome. Loved it!!

  • Willem & Elizabeth's cottage is in a truly beautiful location. The welcome was superb, and the in-property area information was excellent. The cottage was clean, and had all the amenities one could wish for. We will happily stay there again!

  • The most stunning place ever. Kids loved it we enjoyed every second. Wildlife in the morning vineyards all around! The best mixture you can find in South Africa! Thank you

  • What a fantastic stay! No words to describe the peace and the beauty of this place! We will be back and highly recommend this place!

  • A wonderful cottage if you want a quiet getaway away from everything! The indoor fireplace was fantastic for winter! Overall a great stay and we would definitely return here!

    Sandra2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was one of the highlights of our South Africa stay. Really adorable and the location was just incredible. Waking up to Eland, Wildebest, Impala, Guinea Fowl and Impala passing through just added to the charm of this place. Even our hard to please teenager loved it (and we didn't think she would like any place that didn't have wifi). We wish we were local for many reasons but if we lived closeby, this cottage would be a regular getaway for us.

    Maria2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful and relaxing two days at the Shepherd's Cottage. Very secluded but still only a 15 minute drive into central Paarl. Loved watching the animals coming to drink from the pool in the morning/evening. Cottage very nicely decorated and has pretty much everything you need. Willem was a friendly and welcoming host and able to offer knowledge on the local area. Our only gripe is that we were only able to stay there for 2 nights! Would not hesitate to recommend.

    Steven2017-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for a weekend and didn't leave the property. It's a stunning place. Will definitely come back soon. Willem was an excellent host.

The location is great - just 10/15 mins walk into town and a perfect spot for a wine tasting break. Greg and Thelma could not have been more friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Riverstone Cottage is a newly renovated, spacious, self-contained cottage with a patio bordering a vast meadow garden, and magnificent views of the Franschhoek valley mountains. Formerly the stables, and situated on a small-holding bordering the Franschhoek river, the cottage has been furnished with an emphasis on simplicity and nature. This is the perfect space to get away from city noise and find some inner peace, and great for business travelers and couples.
The cottage kitchen is equipped with fridge, oven, hot plate, microwave, kettle, toaster, and the necessary plates, cutlery and utensils for hassle-free cooking and dining-in if you choose not to go to one of the award-winning restaurants within walking distance. There is complimentary tea, filter coffee and plunger, herbal tea, honey, and lemon. The fridge also has an honour bar with bottles of red, white, and sparkling wine for your convenience. The bedroom has two antique single beds, pushed together to form a king sized space, each with firm mattresses, queen-sized duvets, and an abundance of comfy pillows. A duck-down king-sized duvet and fluffy throws will keep you warm in winter, as well as a heater for extra comfort. The en-suite bathroom has a shower. The lounge area has a comfy two-seater couch, as well as a queen-sized sleeper couch. Relax as you enjoy the spectacular mountain views as both the lounge and the bedroom open on to the wide patio and private meadow garden with two antique easy chairs and table. The cottage currently does not have wi-fi and tv, in the hope that our guests will use the time to get away from the screens and find peaceful rest and restoration in nature.
Staying here, you'll feel as if you're deep in the country, yet we are 5 minutes walk from the tourist information, village shops and restaurants, and the Franschhoek Wine Tram where you can catch a tram and spend a lazy day wine-tasting at the award winning vineyards in the Valley. Alternatively, shop, wonder through the village market on a Saturday morning, or take a trip to one of the attractions nearby.
  • The cottage is situated on a beautiful, small-holding in the center of town. We found the location to be perfect. The layout of the cottage suited us so well as we decided to bring a friend at the last minute who found the sleeper couch very comfortable and yet it still had an element of privacy. The small details including the tea selection, the tourist info and the music player did not go unnoticed. We all thought the cottage was great value for money and agreed we'd be back after a boozy day of wine tasting.

Very central, walking distance to restaurants and shops. Privacy and spacious interior.... beautiful view of the mountains from the deck where you can enjoy sun downers. King size bed or 2 single beds. Kitchenette equipped with fridge, kettle, cutlery and crockery. My place is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. The apartment was just delightful - immaculately appointed, spacious, comfortable and beautifully presented. Only regret is that we lay down for a short nap on the very comfortable bed and didn't wake till the next morning. We will have to come back.

We wanted to braai, and Aileen organised us a Webber, but the cottage is not ideal to cook in (it is just not kitted out as such) so rather go to one of the many restaurants close by for dinner. Our cosy basement room is situated on a small wine farm a stone's throw from centre of town. You can experience the best of both worlds, farm life in town! We have lovely views and wide open spaces but you could walk to the nearest restaurant or shop. We produce Sonklip, 3000 bottles of good red wine and world renowned, MevKirsten Chenin,is made from grapes grown on this farm.
If you love farm noises and wide open spaces, we are the place to come to.
We have a lovely forest on our doorstep, horseriding on our neighbours farm and several mountain bike routes starting here.
  • This was the most relaxing time. My host was so friendly.

  • The house is beautifully situated and offers a wonderful view of the sunset over Stellenbosch! Enjoyed our stay a lot!

  • I can totally recommend a stay at Chrismie´s. I really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the tranquile sourrounding and felt like a part of the family. For me, it was the perfect location. Nestled at the foothills of the mountains on a large and secure property with lots of trees and flowers, yet a very short drive into town, while being spared from traffic noise.

  • Chrismie's room really felt like home, it has everything you might need. It was very enjoyable to have the opportunity to take a walk around the house, the landscape is incredible. The house is conveniently situated from a nice walk from downtown (I would suggest to stop at the botanic gardens on your way).

  • What a beautiful place! Close to town with a farm atmosphere. Although it's only a room it is spacious and beautifully decorated. I would highly recommend this establishment!

  • Comfortable, good location on a vineyard.

  • Nice but modest little spot close to town. Well equipped with fridge, wine opener, hot water kettle, tea and coffee, and a comfortable bed.

Located only a short walk from the heart of Franschhoek, this charming 2 bedroom thatch cottage offers comfortable style for a relaxed holiday in the wine lands. Ideal for entertaining, the cottage opens onto a well kept garden and pool. Renovations are completed and the new annex will be available from 2018 once we have have furnished it. We will then be offering this as a 3 bedroom ensuite home - will post photos as soon as completed
A very spacious 2 bedroom thatch cottage with double doors that lead onto a balcony with wonderful mountain views. Open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen with high ceilings.
Set in the heart of the wine lands
  • Elaine was punctual and very friendly. The house is beautifully situated with fantastic mountain views, and close to the village. The kitchen is well appointed, the bedrooms are huge, and the showers were a dream. Having an afternoon drink on the patio or dipping in the pool after a braai were serious highlights. I'd recommend this house to anyone. Many many thanks

  • We found a magical cottage in the most perfect location in Franschoek village. Elaine was great with contact and seeing we were settled. The cottage is perfectly appointed and immaculately maintained. We will definitely be coming back to stay here when in Franschoek again.

  • The house really is lovely. Nice and clean when you arrive, while containing all the required necessities. Theres a lovely view from the front patio, while the pool will be great in summer. It's a great base for exploring Franschhoek and the valley. Closing the shutters at night is great for a good night's rest!

  • We had an amazing time at this place. Well equipped, good location and very comfortable. The baby sitter kept the kids entertained and happy. Fantastic weekend.

  • We just loved this place! The photo's don't do it justice. Enourmous rooms, comfortable beds, a stunning view from the front garden and a pool to boot. We will definitely try to stay here again, but for longer next time! thank you Elaine :)

  • Fantastic and so spacious for a two bedroom house, we truly loved everything about the house and Franschhoek, enjoyed just sitting outside in the sun having a drink whilst the kids played in the pool. Close enough to the centre to have a walk though most nights we would simply drive back home after an evening with the kids. The area is safe, the house is beautiful, the outdoor area is fantastic and the hosts were on hand immediately when contacted. Staying here will make you want to move to the area.

  • The house is much bigger in real than on the pictures. We were pleasantly surprised. Everything was new, very neat and clean. The decoration of the house is done with taste (I loved the Ardmore printed fabrics everywhere). The appliances were all of good quality and everything in the house has been thought in details to welcome guests. We had a great stay

  • Elaine was great. Clear and flexible in communications. Warm on arrival and helpful in her suggestions for exploring the area.

Mayflower Cottage is a self catering 1 bedroom cottage situated on a large property with a beautiful garden in one of the oldest streets in Franschhoek within a 5 minute walk from the main village. Serviced daily, guests are welcome to the pool.
  • Mayflower Cottage is the perfect location in Franschhoek. It's a quick walk to the main street with all the shops, restaurants, bars and the wine tram. The cottage is beautiful and very comfortable. I would strongly recommend Mayflower Cottage to any couples staying in Franschhoek. Cate was a very lovely host.

  • Second time I've stayed and I'll be back. The perfect spot, gorgeous garden, stunning home, really comfy bed. I love Cate's place and hope she'll have me back.

  • This cottage is beautifully furnished and has everything you need. It even has a fireplace which would be great when the weather is cooler. Fantastic location, didn't use our car once. Just a street away from the main road so very easy to walk to restaurants and the wine tram. We were there mid week so only got to meet Cate once who was lovely. Would definitely stay here again if ever in this beautiful part of the world.

  • Cate and Tony were perfect hosts. Helped with taxi bookings and restaurants. The cottage itself is beautiful. It has all you could possibly need and some extras like coffee, milk, chocolates. It is spotlessly clean and very tasteful furnished. The garden, patio and pool areas are amazing. The closeness of mayflower Cottage to the main shops and restaurants makes this a perfect place to stay. I would highly recommend Mayflower Cottage ......can't wait to return again. Thank you Cate and Tony

  • We loved our stay here. Our host was fantastic! All the small things made such a difference...from the electric blankets, cosy fireplace, to the beautiful flowers in the bathroom. The photos actually dont do the place justice as it is even more beautiful in real life. Pemba & Lola are just the cutest...made me feel right at home when I was missing my little one back home. Thank you for a wonderful stay Cate!

  • Great place to stay so close to town. Had a wonderful time

    theresa2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Cate and Tony over New Year and had a brilliant time. The cottage itself is perfect, with air con in the bedroom, spacious kitchen and lounge and some lovely touches (I especially liked the nespresso machine!), we would have no doubt in recommending it and also visiting again. Location is great, a short walk to the centre of town and close to a nice coffee shop and lots of restaurants. Cate and Tony were very welcoming and we enjoyed their company over New Year which was great fun. Overall this has been one of my best Airbnb stays to date and we can't wait to go back again!
