  • What a wonderful place to find yourself. Staying in this little cabin was one of the highlights of our short trip around New England. Such a shame we could only stay the night though. Alan was a wonderful host, taking time out to show us around, when clearly after a very harsh winter, he had plenty of work to do on the farm, but he showed us the Surry Opera Company farm house cum opera house, told us some of the history of the buildings on the farm and took us for a walk to see the lake down the road. The Cabin itself is warm and cosy with a comfy couch, the loft was wonderful to sleep in, the bathroom spacious and the water nice and hot for a shower. Really my only regret is that we couldn't stay longer but i hope to be able to come back and stay a couple of weeks and write music there. Thank you Alan, we loved our stay in the cottage.

  • Alan was a great host who communicated well and was available to us but gave us privacy too. If you get a chance to spend time with him you should do it...he is interested and interesting. The property is unique...have him give you a tour of the opera house and walk down the road to the trails where you can be on the water. We spent most of our time in Acadia forest which is anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour depending on which part of the park you visit. The drive there is beautiful and we loved the quiet of Surry. If you are looking for a unique, "non-tourist" experience then Alan's cottage is perfect.

  • This space was so beautiful and peaceful. A sweet location in proximity to Acadia National Park (you can see the highest peak from the cabin) and a quiet location for a secluded getaway. We visited in January and the cabin was perfectly warm and the bed very cozy. Alan was very accommodating. Although there is no kitchen (there is a microwave/toaster/kettle), Alan let us use his kitchen one night, which was really nice. Alan also provided us with maps of the area and had some good suggestions of where to visit during our stay.

  • Very special place. Much more then we expected, and our expectations were already high. The landscape is unbelievable. Alan is an amazing host. We will be back for a longer period of time.

    Oleg2014-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay here. The cottage was perfectly located as my home base for exploring Acadia, and as a musician, being able to come back and play the piano was amazing. Alan was a gracious host, and kindly took the time to show me around the cottage and Arts Barn adjacent. The sleeping loft was cozy, and there is a great view of the mountains of Acadia from the piano bench. I would recommend the cottage to almost anyone, but you have any interest in music as well, this is definitely the place!

    Matt2016-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Alan was welcoming and hospitable, and our stay was very pleasant. The area was beautiful—calm and quiet, far away from light pollution, and perfect for recharging. Sleeping-wise, the lofted area was very cozy and the couch bed was a comfortable second option. Having a piano to play was a huge bonus!

    Garrett2016-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time staying in Alan's cabin in Surry. The cabin is in a beautiful and tranquil location, with gorgeous views. Alan was welcoming and made sure we had what we needed for a comfortable stay. His property has an eclectic collection of barns and buildings that once housed an opera company among other things. A hidden gem.

    Caroline2013-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • A memorable stay.....we took day trips to both Baxter and Acadia from here.

This unique four season property is located on the Penobscot River 3.5 miles to Rt 1/Rt 3 and Fort Knox State Park. There is room for 1-4 guests. It boasts walking/snowshoeing trails with access to the river. Conveniently located 5 miles to Bucksport which has a grocery, restaurants, cool shops and a lovely downtown theater; 18 miles to Belfast, Castine, Ellsworth, and Hampden, an hour or less to Camden, Bangor and Acadia National Park. I love hosting families, couples, and friends!
The house sits near the road and the walking trail is 1/2 mile to the river through rolling fields and forest. Incredible spot all four seasons to hike, snowshoe, and cross country ski. I would always advise to wear hunter orange when hiking on land. I have extra orange hats/jackets to borrow if needed. The house has many updates and includes a pellet stove, a double oven and fully equipped kitchen, dining room w/ chalkboard walls, back deck, new and refinished flooring including beautiful hardwood, small barn, fruit trees, and an outdoor fire pit (not when it snows a lot) with an amazing view. The house is comfortably furnished includes wifi and Amazon FireStick. Also, please know that my home is welcoming to all but I do not have children so it is not fully child proof. I do have a baby gate and safe storage for cleaning supplies.
Bowden Point Road is located on a hilly peninsula that jets out into the Penobscot River. It is not a through street, however there are a few side streets off of this road. It is 2.5 miles long, mostly residential, stunning views, keep a look out for children and animals. Redemption Center located at the end of Quarry Road for convenience. Heagan Mountain is located at the end of Quarry road and is a rock quarry that is sometimes still used today. In the past, the granite would be taken down from this mountain and shipped of on the river from the end of the property. The railroad tracks are gone but a beautiful walking trail still exists. During the school year the school bus makes a stop across from home in the morning. One of my neighbors waits with her son for the bus in their car across the street. It is not very noisy but the bus comes around 7:15 ish M-F.
  • Colette's place was great! My eta kept changing because of an ice storm but Colette was understanding and was out front to greet me when I arrived. She left warm bread that was delicious, and even had a waterbowl filled and dog beds for my dogs to use. Being able to snowshoe down to the water right from the back porch was amazing. I would definitely recommend staying here.

  • If you're looking for peace and quiet and a place to get away from it all, this is it! Right up the street from Fort Knox and close enough to quaint little towns like Bucksport, Belfast, Ellsworth, and Bar Harbor that there's plenty to do. But far enough away that you wouldn't know it's close to anything. We chose to spend our honeymoon here, and we were so glad we did. It was the perfect spot. When we got there, Colette greeted us with a gift and some delicious homemade bread. She thought of everything people may need, and made sure her place was well-stocked. My mornings were spent reading and sipping coffee on the back deck, enjoying the view. Our afternoons were spent shopping in the towns I mentioned, going to Acadia and Fort Knox, taking our dog for walks and swimming. Everything we wanted in a honeymoon. Thank you Colette!

  • Awesome place. Great for a weekend getaway.

    Kyle2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Collette was wonderful and we had the best time in her house- we would definitely stay again!

    Erin2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing and comfortable getaway at this cozy retreat perched on a hill above the Penobscot River. Colette added the extra thoughtful touches that made it so memorable such as the welcoming tiki torches at the entrance, blazing pellet stove in the living room, homemade breads, honey, butter, and organic apples. The bedroom was well equipped for chilly Maine nights with heated blankets and an electric fireplace heater.

    Dana2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful night staying at Colette's beautiful home. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers and we could not ask for a better place to stay. Plenty of room, extremely comfortable and warm, and beautiful grounds. Felt like home almost immediately and all the little touches provided by Colette were fantastic. She was so caring and attentive to any requests or communications. Five stars all around. Our only regret was only staying one night. Looking forward to one day returning for a longer stay.

    Howard2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • First airbnb experience couldn't have gone any better. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway - this is exactly what you need in your life.

    Nicole2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here! It was just for a night on our way up to Acadia but Colette was very flexible with a late check in time and even left us some snacks that were delicious! Everything was comfortable and it would have been great to stay a few more days! In the directions Colette mentions to go 2.5 miles past the turn off, it's really not difficult to find just make sure you follow her directions.

This sweet solar powered cabin is rustic Maine at its best! Centered in the heart of an evolving permaculture homestead, this little cabin has an outdoor bathroom, cold running water & an outdoor kitchen that overlooks the gardens and barnyard. Please click address on itinerary for full driving directions. Listed address does not take you to your space-- we are off GPS :)
Our cozy one-bedroom cabin is nestled in the woods on a developing, off-grid, permaculture homestead. We border trails and a 5,000 acre preserve. Easy drives to adventures in Acadia National Park or other quaint coastal towns. The cabin is perfect for your budget get-away! With a small kitchen (mini-fridge, outdoor 1 burner propane stove & gas grill, cold running water), an attached composting toilet, and outdoor solar or propane shower options, you will have that rustic Maine adventure you are looking for. Fall asleep to peepers and owls and awake to roosters! We live on the premises and are available if any issues arise. Our daughters will give property tours -advance notice please (they love tips, if you are inclined). Guests are welcome to join any homestead activities at no additional charge, although often our summer season activities open to guests are limited to animal chores due to the skill level needed in the gardens. Seasonal activities include food processing, blueberry harvest, maple syrup harvest, wine making, gardening, hunting, carpentry, and cider making. Nestled in the forest, your neighbors are spring peepers, coyote and owl calls in the night, summer cicada and cricket song and grunts and calls of the farm animals . The stars brighten the sky and "neighborhood" is complete. (Check out our other rentals- the sweet solar efficiency, for a less rustic experience, our retro campers or our hostel)
We call our very rural neighborhood Happytown. We often have get togethers, jam sessions, or work parties. We are farmers, realtors, artists, teachers, carpenters, lobstermen, foresters, health workers & and talented, hard working folks if all walks.
  • Molly & Shawn's place is a true gem. We loved staying in this relaxing atmosphere, just surrounded by farm animals. It's also conveniently located if you're planning on going to Acadia and Stonington. We highly recommend this place.

    Leif2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Molly and Shawn were great hosts! The cabin is cozy, clean, and in a beautiful area. There's a lot you can do on the farm, from blueberry picking to canoeing. We loved our stay and would love to come back!

    Aaron2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Molly and Shawn were such great hosts! Our daughter loved the farm. Such a great experience! We would recommend for sure. They've got a great thing going on. Such an amazing spot!

    Veronica2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first experience staying off-grid. What a wonderful place Shawn and Molly have created! Everything was wonderful and very comfortable. It didn't feel at all like "roughing it" but a very nice time away in beautiful nature. We would recommend this place to everyone.

    Evelyn2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our three nights in Orland were incredible. This Airbnb offers multiple experiences; hiking trails, informative conversations with the friendly hosts, a delicious farm share, and a peaceful view of farm living. The place itself was clean and tidy. We strongly recommend this listing for anyone visiting Acadia or the surrounding areas.

    Maksym2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the Homestead. Molly was there to show us around when we arrived, and even gave us some marshmallows to enjoy during our awesome campfire one night. The stars at this place are incredible. We chose the Homestead partly because we wanted to see the animals... and our wish was fulfilled as we could see the ducks, chickens, goats, and pigs from our window. I loved them all! I would definitely recommend staying here for a more rustic experience.

    emilie2016-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are delightful and readily available without being obtrusive. The cabin is pleasantly situated with a view of the farm animals. The cabin is primitive, cozy, and comfortable. Though the simplicity provided a respite from modernity we did not feel as if we were roughing it. Thoughtful touches abounded; cooking was done in an outdoor grill, but the grill lived in its own covered structure complete with a bench. The shower was "outdoor" but hot water was instantly available. Any time we needed to hang something up, there was a hook nearby. The farm stand was a bonus, good fresh produce on-site! Though this is not the place for someone looking for a modern motel-like experience, if the description appeals to you we don't think you would be disappointed.

  • We had a great experience on the lake and would love to get the opportunity to go back sometime in the future!

  • The condo is situated in a beautiful area and is large with 3 bedrooms. We felt very welcome and everything was as described or even better! The cottage was clean, had a great terrace with lake view so nothing to complain. Also the availability of 2 kayaks was very nice to have. Steven was also responding very quickly by email which was trustworthy. I should recommend this condo to everyone. Thanks again Steven for the nice time we had.

  • Cozy, comfortable and welcoming cottage tucked away in the woods on beautiful Toddy Pond. Great location. Short drive to MDI and close to Bucksport restaurants and other conveniences. Owners were fantastic And even brought extra blankets for us, as we visited on a chilly Columbus Day weekend. Can't wait to go back for a full week in the summer and take advantage of the grill and catch sunsets on the deck!

    lauren2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, secluded cabin right on a pond! It was very well equipped and Steven was very prompt responding to any questions we had. However, it took us an hour to get into Acadia from the cabin, which is a bit much for going in every day. If you want to mix exploration and relaxation, this is perfect.

    Britta2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Steven's cottage is very nice and very comfortable. It's in the middle of nowhere, near the shore of a beautiful lake. Steven gave us very clear explanations which were very helpful to find the place. There are two kayaks. As a matter of fact, the place was so great that we decided to stay one day kawaking, swimming, and relaxing instead of exploring the area with the car. We had a very good time. Thank you Steven for your hospitality. Olivier, Muriel, Clémence, Louise & Sophie from France.

  • We loved staying here! Molly and Shawn were great.

    Liz 2016-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Had we realized how great these campers were going to be, we would have stayed an extra night. The outhouse alone deserves 5 stars. There's a fun makeshift shower too. Molly and Shawn left out two camp shower bags and a 5 gallon bottle of water for us. We felt like we were glamping. We had a fantastic time and would love to go back.

    Maria2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was a perfect rural 'camping' experience! We had hoped to camp in Acadia, but when nothing was available we looked on AirBNB and found Molly and Shawn's (Website hidden by Airbnb) glad we did! It's just as rural and charming and fun as camping, but with less work for you as you don't have to pack the tents! Their property is so nice, and its an easy and pretty drive to the park or to lots of other beautiful natural areas of Maine. Definitely recommend! The ONLY somewhat warning that I have would be that if you are super super tall, the camper might not be great for you....the bed length is about 6' long, and my 6'3'' husband was still comfy but a little stunted. :)

    Jen2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay and camp out. Especially if you want to check out Acadia. Amazing way to wake up. I saw a got, chicken, pig and more through the morning haze and it just made my day marvelous. Great communication as well. A little far from Bangor if youre travelling back and forth but a highly recommended stay if that is not a problem for you.

    Jared2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Super! Enjoyed both the AirBnb and chatting with Molly & Shawn. Thanks!

    David2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • All you need for a campy time! Firewood and water were provided, as was a grill with propane. We really enjoyed our time. It seemed some camper beds were much more comfy than others. Friendly hosts in a cool, secluded setting. Overall had everything we needed!

    Gideon2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great location if youre looking for peace and quiet. Molly's breakfast is a must have if not the granola and blueberries from the farmstand! The firepit and the grill is very convenient with a supply of spring water and firewood. Molly and shawn are always helpful and always available. Make sure to check out the berry fields for star gazing! Cozy beds to sleep day at night after a long busy hike or a lazy day. We highly recommend this place to friends and family!

    Joanne2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our family stayed here while moving our daughter back to UMO. We had a fantastic time exploring the area. Loved falling asleep to the sounds of the wilderness and waking with the animals. Weather was perfect! If weather looks rainy, you may need a tarp or screen house. As the campers are small and short, to be spending long periods of time in. Got chilly at night but we had a fire every night. Wood was provided. Amazing view of the stars from the greenhouse. Outhouse was clean. If you love nature this is your place!!! Molly & Shawn were great hosts.

  • The cabin is adorable and very charming! Paddling on the lake was really special for us! The cabin is in the side yard of a larger home that is being converted into a bed & breakfast, which I'm sure will be very lovely too. Also, the state highway runs close to the lake and cabin so take note if you have pets (which are allowed!) and if you're at all sensitive to road noise at night. Thanks Jessica & Laurie!

  • Super cute place.

    Gillian2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful. So romantic and full of charm. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

    Marie2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • By far the BEST airBnB I've stayed at so far. The entire cabin was impeccably clean and cozy. As we drove up, we were welcomed by the host as a crew was cleaning the hot tub for our use. The multiple kayaks to choose from allowed us to feel comfortable getting out there on the lake. Our host was bubbly and fun with a positive personality and attitude. She was more than accommodating by setting the hot tub to our preferred heat, giving us generous toiletries and kitchen supplies, and much more. We definitely would recommend this to anyone who wants a quiet scenic area right on the water with a cozy home feel. Close to Acadia and other maine attractions. I can't wait to return!

    Danny2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this wonderful log cabin for a week and had a restful, beautiful stay with gorgeous views of the lake. We had breakfast on the adirondack chairs facing the lake nearly every day, and it was absolutely serene. The cabin was immaculate--so clean and with just the right modern and personal touches. Agatha, our cat, also loved the loft. Hosts were super generous and took great care of us, even helping us set up a campfire. We drive to Acadia to hike and bike all but one day when it was rainy. Hot tub was terrific and it was a great way to unwind after long hikes. Cabin has a nice kitchen with two burners to cook meals. We felt right at home and we are looking forward to going back again!

    Mary2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I took a weekend away and love this cute little cabin. Everything was as expected and we were able to relax and reconnect in a comfortable cabin. Bucksport is a cute little town with many little fun things to do and there are plenty of things to explore all around the cabin. The host is amazing and even though we lost the key to the cabin it was not a big deal. They were able to resolve the key issue in a timely and professional manner. We are already considering rebooking for the spring and would book other properties from Jessica.

    Thomas2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • DO NOT STAY HERE. It is NOT Close to Acadia or Bar Harbor. the cabin was 1.5 hours away from Acadia/Bar Harbor when driving on the “fast route” suggested by the host, at 4:00 am when there was no other traffic. At rush hour count on 2hrs each way. The cabin is located at the foot of the owners' driveway on a busy state road and if you are staying in the sleeping loft headlights of passing trucks may be keeping you awake. There are very few places to eat out close to the cabin. This is not an area suited for tourists looking for places to eat out. The cabin is also not laid out well for cooking meals so if you stay here you should plan to eat in Bar Harbor before you hop in the car. The hosts left notes all over the cabin saying they inventoried every item in the cabin and leaving threatening notes should the items be moved or rearranged. They even said that they would charge $25 an hour to put all their knick knacks back in the exact places in the cabin if it was not left exactly as found. For Real. I took pictures of the crazy notes. You cannot make this stuff up. The hosts also request that you do not put any toilet paper in the toilet and that you instead wrap your toilet paper up in plastic bags (which they do not provide) and put them in the garbage and then take your garbage with you. So after paying over $500 to stay at their cabin we have to bag up our used toilet paper and garbage and bring it with us on a car trip? No thank you. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. There is one Plus to the cabin I can say nice things about. The hot tub. They have a High end hot tub that you can use. It is on the owners’ deck attached to their house, but it is huge and very clean and very relaxing. We used it both nights and it was fabulous. If you stay, (which I recommend you do not), then use the hot tub.

  • Beautiful cozy cabin perfect for a couple's getaway. Cabin has everything you need with a full bathroom and kitchen area with a stove. It took us about an hour to get to Acadia National Park. The hosts were really accommodating and squeezed us into a busy July season. Such a good experience, would definitely recommend to others.

Our open concept 2 bedroom home nestled in the woods has the charm of a cottage but the comforts of home. Morning coffee on the porch is usually accompanied by sightings of deer in the large field out the front door and hummingbirds busy at the feeder. Get away from it all while being only 25 min from Bangor, 30 min from Castine, 30 min from Ellsworth and 45 min to an hour from Acadia & Bar Harbor!
Located at the end of a dead end road, the setting is very private and quiet. Late July wild blueberries can be found out the front door and mid August blackberries along the driveway. With absolutely no light pollution, the stars are incredible, best enjoyed by the fire pit with a glass of wine!
The charming village of Bucksport is about 10 min away and has groceries, restaurants, a fabulous bakery featuring local coffee from Deer Isle, a wine & tapas bar, full service salons, and a brick lined walking path along the water with a great view of Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. Bald Mountain is just over 10 minutes away and is a short, intense hike with breathtaking views. Wild blueberries grow along the hike in late July/early August. Seriously, the views are breathtaking. Hancock Pond is 5 minutes down the road and the larger Craigs Pond is about 20 minutes away with a much better beach area. Downtown Bangor is 20 minutes away and has everything from Indian to upscale dining. If you would like something specific recommended, just ask!
  • We had a WONDERFUL time staying here! The check in and out was easy and communication with Stephanie was great! Aside from the logistics working very well the actual stay was a small slice of paradise! The location is accessible but remote enough that we felt like we had our own little world to enjoy. The mornings were cool and we sat on the porch drinking coffee and looking out over the lush acres and tree line and watched deer travel through and listened to the birds singing and the tree leaves rustling . There were also hummingbirds to watch. The house is beautiful and a great mix of days gone by and modern amenities. Everything in the house is nicely arranged, feels comfortable, inviting and enjoyable. The kitchen is great, modern, fun to work in and we easily made meals finding every kitchen gadget we needed. We ate most meals on the front porch because the location is so beautiful. With the feeling that we were a bit "off the map" I didn't know what to expect with the internet but it always worked and was very fast. My husband enjoyed going for runs in the area as the neighborhood is scenic. There was a place to swim and hiking trails nearby. We traveled easily to the local town for groceries and events. We also traveled to Bar Harbor/Acadia easily for hiking. Everything put together made the stay here our BEST Airbnb experience to date and I cannot recommend this location, house and Stephanie highly enough!

  • A fabulous retreat! The house is perfectly situated, lovely view of meadow and trees from the front porch, yard and main floor windows. Decor so tasteful and creative, yet simple and perfectly comfortable. Everything the four of us needed - and could have wanted. Awesome grill for outdoor cooking. Cozy swing for two by fire area. Stephanie was a great communicative host.

  • This cute cabin was great to relax after a busy day exploring the area. My family and I enjoyed spending time together by cooking and playing games like lawn Jenga together.

    Lexie2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Stephanie's place. House looks just like on the picture, and the nice surprise is that the house is actually in a very quiet area with no "vis a vis", where only birds and deers can come visit you... Would recommend the place! Just one thing though, for anyone sleeping downstairs: the room is next to the garage where a machine (perhaps a pump, or something for the solar pannels?) was working on and off at night, so if you have trouble sleeping in places too noisy, would recommend to bring earplugs with you.

    Anne-Laure2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Even though I didn't actually get to stay, I felt the interactions I had with Stephanie were top notch and I believe we would have been thrilled with her home. She was responsive and incredibly helpful through the entire process.

    Colleen2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is magical. It's surrounded by nature on all sides and overlooks a meadow of wild flowers. In the mornings when we stayed, humming birds flew by the porch and the outdoor fire was beautiful at night. The cabin itself has everything you could need, including a very well equipped kitchen, as well as fun surprises like lawn Jenga. It's also a good base to explore from (a decent drive from Blue Hill, Bar Harbor, Deer Isle, and Acadia). We loved swimming at Craig's Pond nearby (a short drive), where we were practically the only people at the lake.

    ALICE2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, quiet property tucked away in the fields. House is comfortable, the porch is spectacular, especially at night, and you feel like you're the only people around. It's about a 20 minute drive to most nearby towns and attractions, and just over an hour to bar harbor. Stephanie was communicative and helpful. Highly recommend.

    Joshua2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant stay at Stephanie's cottage. It's lovely, quite and surrounded by wild flowers. My mom had much fun arranging fresh cut wild flowers in a vase, and those flowers lighted up the kitchen. Also, the stars are amazing, exactly as Stephanie described! We saw a sky full of stars both nights of our stay. The location is about an hour drive from Acadia. We visited the park in the day and relaxed ourselves at the cottage in the night. Highly recommend this place and would definitely want to come back!

The historic methodist church building is central to many Maine activities & sights, both coastal & inland. The town itself is quiet, although many great options abound within a 10-20 min radius. The apartment nestled in the backside of the building. It is recently renovated with cathedral wood ceilings. It would be nice for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). Entry is via keypad, so you can arrive as late as you'd like. ASL Friendly
This newly renovated 2 bedroom home is located in a historic church building, nestled in the backside of the 1850's structure. Full amenities including a kitchen stocked with plates, pans, the basics for cooking, locally roasted coffee and locally blended teas. This would be a great rental for a weekend, a week or longer. Fully furnished with books, games, and even toys for any kids that might tag along! Winterport is a very small town, it's nice to walk around in, however there are only two restaurants, one of them is only open Wed-Sun. You can walk along the town's sidewalks, view the river, visit local farms, go for a hike, or check out the local blueberry fields. We are not a bustling metropolis, but a convenient base to explore Bangor, Belfast, Bucksport and the DownEast and Acadia areas. There is a TV with HDMI hookup and a blue ray/DVD player (no cable) and wifi access. Please note, the toilet and sink are in one room, while the shower is in another. We think of this as a convenience for our guests, especially larger groups, however, some may not agree. We simply want our guests to be aware of the arrangement before booking.
A very quiet, but one excellent restaurant within walking distance Wed-Sun. Another pizza and sub shop is open Monday-Saturday. Located on route 1A, so it has easy access to all Maine has to offer! Winterport is centrqlly located as a good home base to explore many points in Maine, however it's not bustling with activity. Please be aware of this when booking. If your are looking for a thriving nightlife or cultural center, you will have to drive 20 min from our Airbnb, or take an UBER or Lyft. Bucksport is less than 15 minutes, Bangor is 20 min, Belfast is 30 minutes and the drive to Acadia is a little over an hour. I would be happy to recommend local activities, like hiking, farm visits, dining, and more.
  • What a relaxing place! Thank you so much.

    Anne Marie2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great and stocked with everything you might need. Katrina and her partner communicated with us regularly. The listing was 100% accurate. Would definitely stay again.

  • I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was at this cozy Winterport spot! We felt extremely comfortable in the space & by the end of our first full day there, it started to feel like home. Katrina has all the essentials; from a French press with delicious coffee & full instructions of use, a washer & dryer, plenty of cookware, games & Netflix, to the most comfortable bed! It was perfect. The home itself is beautifully decorated & we could not get over the rustic ceilings. I loved the feel of the Crooked Steeple; it has history & you can tell Katrina has put her heart & soul into maintaining its natural foundation. We walked in for the first time & our jaws just dropped - a sense of calm came over us both, & the cleanliness of the place was so pleasing. We had mostly rain during our stay, but it was just what we needed for a private getaway away from the usual hustle & bustle in Portland. On our second day, I went for a run down through the Winterport Marina (just a street over from the Crooked Steeple) & got to explore / photograph the area more. We had one sunny, warm day & took a drive to Acadia to explore Otter Cliffs - an hour & a half there from the Crooked Steeple with plenty of key coastal spots (shops, restaurants, markets, LL Bean outlet, etc) along the way. I think for anyone who's coming to Maine looking to adventure the Downeast area on an affordable budget & have a more private/calm atmosphere to go "home" to, the Crooked Steeple would be the best place for anyone to stay! We will 100% be back!!

  • A perfect spot for a family to stay. Private with no neighbors. Everything was clean. Many games and books available to keep you entertained. This is not a luxury stay, but was what we expected and needed. A great value!

  • Katrina was a super accommodating host with the most adorable place!

    Simran 2016-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Katrina's place was very cozy bright and cheerful! It was quite comfortable and interesting to stay in an old church. The kitchen was well-stocked and I enjoyed trying the selection of teas from the local shop. I also appreciated the various brochures, menus and magazines about places to visit in the area. There was some slight road noise since it's so close to the road, but not enough to disturb me. The bed was very comfortable and I slept very well. I really enjoyed staying there and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

This 3 bedroom 2 bath house with hot tub is located on Verona Island in the Penobscot River just inside the bay. Enjoy a peaceful stay on the water's edge or take day trips to enjoy Acadia National Park and great neighboring port towns like Bar Harbor, Castine, Ellsworth, Camden & Belfast. We are mins from Bucksport, Penobscot Narrows Bridge & Observatory, and Fort Knox. It is about 40mins to Mt Desert Island/Acadia entrance. Private dock for those with boats. 2 bikes available. Garage.
Eat your meals while watching passing boats and wildlife on the water. There is a sunroom facing the water, large patio with arbor shade, sunbathing patio, and dock with chairs. The master bedroom also has a new waterfront deck as of 2018! The outside dining area has a stone wood-fire grill. There is also an adjacent hot tub house which faces the water. Soak away your hiking aches or just relax and enjoy the view. Books/games available for use (as well as some pamphlets on local activities and hikes). Wireless internet, cable, DVD. House contains many antiques- for antique lovers like us. Mattresses are all new and protected - master is Simmons Beautyrest Black with memory foam pillows. Bedding is thinned during summer, but the heat layer blankets and additional blankets are located in closets/dressers if desired (and are layered on the beds during the cold season). Master bedroom has an air conditioning unit if needed. Electric fireplaces in the master, dining room and sunroom are available for use during the cool season. 9 beach towels are stocked. The kitchen has basic dish/utensil/cooking supplies and a lobster pot (you are in Maine, right?!). The laundry room has a washer/dryer, cleaning supplies and rags. 2 bicycles in garage available for use (plan for more, helmets and kayaks in the future) - ride over to the Rise & Shine for breakfast, or into Bucksport for ice cream at the Dairy Port. Happy to make recommendations for food, fun and outdoor activities. Great area. Friendly, helpful neighbors.
The island is quiet and peaceful. Neighbors are friendly and helpful. Bucksport (where you will enter the island) is a cute port town with locally owned restaurants, shops and great ice cream. The local bridge and tower observatory are beautiful and the views are impressive. Tickets can be purchased for the observatory and adjacent Fort Knox. Fun for adults and kids alike. Another must while in town is a trip out to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Amazing whale watching tours are available in Bar Harbor (our dining room whale picture was taken by us on our tour). The drive to/from Acadia, passing through Ellsworth, has plenty fun stops and activities as well- from train rides, to a water/amusement park, wildlife rehab, even an L.L. Bean outlet.
  • Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nashport in Verona Island. We wanted to be outside Bar Harbor and this location was perfect being just under 1 hour away from Acadia and Mount Desert. Beautifully decorated home, spacious, quiet, comfortable and very relaxing to sit on the outdoor covered patio and see the water. Beds were comfortable, sheets were soft, kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare homemade meals every day. Nice backyard for our two young children to run around and play. Chris and Tracy were polite, professional, kind, timely in their responses and a pleasure to work with on this transaction. We would love to come back for another relaxing visit.

  • Perfect place to relax, well and modern equipped. Chris is good in communication although we didn't meet him in person. We had been a group of 5 an there is plenty of space. Very clean and direct access to the water. Regrettably we couldn't try the hot tub due to a lack of time. This place is highly recommendable.

  • Great place to spend a few days with family and friends. This is a beautiful house with nice waterfront view. It's very clean and cozy. Great experience to have a meal in the patio. Will definitely recommend others to come stay here.

  • I was a great experience of a beautiful lake front house during our Memorial day weekend vacation in Maine. The view from living room is so serene, relaxing and rejuvenating. We throughly enjoyed the lake front fire place, backing marshmallow and the hammock. We liked the house specially the living room view and master room wood architecture. kitchen is well organized and required items were meticulously arranged. We would love to visit this place again. • Communication with Cathleen was great. Responds quickly. Upon arrival there was a small issue with the water, not a big deal at all. Cathleen insisted on treating us to dinner at a very nice restaurant in Bucksport for the very minimal inconvenience. The house description and pictures are as described and shown. EVERYTHING that you might need is provided. The kitchen is fully equipped, food staples provided (coffee, oil, spices, ketchup, mustard.) The beds are comfortable and have nice big pillows. You can comfortably sleep 7 adults and 2 more on a futon. We had an unusually hot day for Maine and the upstairs got a little warm and Cathleen offered fans without us asking. The main floor remained very cool. We used the grill, the gas fire pit and the kayaks. Beautiful view and pond. Very tranquil. Nice neighbors. Fifteen minutes to Bucksport and 30 to Bangor.

    Jayme2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cathleen the hostess was extremely professional and timely in her responsiveness both before the visit and during the visit. Any requests were promptly responded to. This property is a very good value for the price and I would recommend it highly to anyone wanting a quiet, peaceful stay surrounded by natural beauty.

  • Wonderful setting, great facilities and fantastic welcoming hosts - if only we could live there permanently. Communication with Cathleen and Mark was excellent.

    Carole2017-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cathleen and Mark were very helpful and understanding. We were not able to check in till 9 pm. They were very accommodating in meeting us at the house and took there time giving us suggestions and showing us around the property. The home was very clean and met every expectation we could ask for. Great location and an easy drive to Acadia/Bar Harbor. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

1812 built, historic home in Winterport, suite includes a private half bath, walk-in closet, and one bedroom with king sized bed. House has a large kitchen, dining room, formal living room, and TV room. Wifi is included and you are free to use the laundry. Well behaved pets welcome. It is possible to accommodate up to 4 guests if you are a family traveling with children. We have a twin bed with twin trundle mattresses in the office room adjoining the suite.
Bedrooms are on the second floor. Your room has a very comfy, king-sized bed in the master bedroom There is a walk-in closet and en-suite half bathroom and a shared full bath on the second floor. There is an additional half bath off of the kitchen. Entry to the house is via a numbered keypad. Please note, this is an old house. We love it! It's full of history, charm, character, a few drafty windows. If you love those things, this is the place for you. If you are looking for straight lines, brand new things, and an 85 degree room, a hotel would be a better fit. We want you to enjoy your stay and will do everything we can to make you comfortable, but we can't make the house brand new! Winterport is a very quiet town. Mondays and Tuesdays only the pizza/sub shop and the convenience store are open. Wed-Sun we have a great restaurant open, that is within walking distance. We are centrally located in a spot that is a great base to explore the sights, and would be happy to recommend hikes, shopping, restaurants and other activities within a 10-30 minute (or longer), driving distance.
In-town village area of a quiet, quaint river town. A very short walk to the river, one restaurant open Wednesday-Sunday, a pizza and sub shop open Monday-Saturday, our local tea shop, the antiques store, walking trails, playgrounds, and convenience store. Winterport is a small town, and Mon/Tuesdays are subdued with only one restaurant open, the local pizza place. We are located 20 minutes from Bangor and 15 minutes from Bucksport. If you love history and old houses, this is your place! If you love new things and straight lines, a hotel might be better. It's a house built in 1812 - lots of character and space, with its share of creaks and a few drafts. We have lots of blankets for the winter and an awesome fireplace in our aptly named "adult living room". Odds are on a weekend, we might host you for dinner, if that is your thing. If not, we will give you plenty of privacy and can recommend wonderful restaurants in the area.
  • Katrina was an excellent host, and what a charming old home! No complaints here- would definitely seek her out if/when traveling through Winterport again.

  • An easy-as-pie check-in and accommodations, with clear instructions. We stayed only one night and appreciated our host's clear communications & accessibility to us while we were on the road. We thought the bed was too soft for us, but this of course depends upon one's preferences! Thank you for our stay, Katrina

    Melissa2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our suite was just beautiful, and came complete with a history of the house as well as info about local activities and venues. Wish we'd had more time to explore the rest of the house-- we got in late and so went pretty much straight to bed (it was very comfy).

    Jennie2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first airbnb experience, so I have nothing to compare it to; however, that being said, my experience was truly wonderful! I had to make last minute arrangements, so Katrina had very little notice of my coming (hours, rather than days!) She responded with genuine warmth -- I felt welcome from the first communication. Katrina was quick to reply to my text questions about the area: what to do, where to eat, and so forth, and her recommendations were spot on. Her home is quite lovely and easy to find. The room I had is very large -- plenty of room to move/stretch/whatever, and the bed is wonderfully comfortable! I needed to leave early the next morning, so Katrina set me up with a French Press of coffee the night before -- all I had to do was turn on the water and give the beans a quick grind. I am happy to recommend Katrina's airbnb to anyone who is traveling through the area and needs a place to stay!!

  • Katrinas place was great! The old house is really historic and has lots of historic things to see. The bed in our room was so big, we almost got lost. The big old house and all it's rooms were confusing at first, but got used to it - especially that great dining room and the kitchen. The communincation was great, as Katrina and Tristan were. Highly recommended for a stay if you are looking for one of the oldest houses in Maine and really nice and interesting people to meet there.

  • My daughter, a high school senior, and I stayed with Katrina for three nights while she toured UMaine. I was initially drawn to Katrina's house because of the close proximity to the university, and I will be staying there again when we come to visit my daughter once school starts. The house was beautiful, warm and cozy. Katrina was friendly and made us feel right at home and it was a pleasure getting to know her. We found the house to be exactly as it was described, and we had a wonderful experience all the way around.

Luna Cottage, located on the West Branch of the Penobscot River on Verona Island, offers a serene get-a-way while being only a short distance from some of Maine's best-known coastal towns & vacation destinations. Take day trips or just stay & relax! And, take a day to visit the lovely town of Bucksport, just across the river, which is in a renaissance after the closing of its paper mill. New businesses (art, cuisine, film) are developing along Main St. Maybe you'll even decide to live here!
Luna Cottage is a traditional New England cottage built in the 1930's with a spacious wrap-around porch. With recent updates, it is a cozy and comfortable space with a lovely furnished living room/dining area and a second floor bedroom that look down towards the river. A well-equipped modern kitchen, small first floor bedroom and bathroom with a shower complete the cottage space. Follow the path through the wildflower field to the river's edge, and, depending on the tide, relax with a book or walk the rocky beach. The Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory can be viewed from the beach. While we do have neighbors nearby (across the road and to the side, behind us), there is much privacy, and it is very quiet. Please note that we live in the cottage a week or so a month, so you will find indications of our living there: personal items in drawers, closets and bathroom, and a few staples in the refrigerator and cupboards. We also have a small dog and, beginning the end of November 2017, a cat, who come along with us when we stay at the cottage. There is a combination washer-dryer that you are welcome to use for small loads of laundry. Please review directions for its use (on top of the washer-dryer unit). Also, in the small bedroom closet you will find a folding bamboo drying rack. We have had the cottage for just over two years and are in the process of updating and making improvements (painting, landscaping, etc). I think you will not be disappointed, however, with your experience at Luna Cottage! Painting the outside of the cottage is our next project. This will happen in the spring of 2018.
Located on a dead-end road, Luna Cottage is nestled in a friendly (but not at all intrusive) little neighborhood. Several other cottages can be seen along the drive leading to our cottage. It is safe, private, out-of-the-way, but easily accessed and conveniently located.
  • The cottage in Verona Island was great! Pretty easy to find, well kept, cozy and relaxing. We were even greeted by some of the resident pets! Sally was very accessible and accommodating when we needed to adjust the number of days we were going to be staying. Would definitely recommend staying at this sweet little cottage :)

  • We love Luna Cottage! This was a delightful and cozy little spot for a few summer days. The neighbors were closer in proximity than I had realized, but it was still quiet and private. The bedroom is beautiful and sitting on the porch, looking out at the water, is divine. We also loved exploring Bucksport (5 minutes away), and a day trip to Bar Harbor was perfect.

    Courtney2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the cabin! Sally provided directions on how to get there, and there was also a great book full of resources for the area and additional instructions for the cabin. The cabin was clean and cozy, the four of us had a wonderful stay, would definitely recommend!

    Kelsey2016-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We adored staying in Sally's home! Views of the Penobscot river, ebbing and flowing with the tide, enjoying a glass of wine on the porch with hummingbirds flitting in all directions. The energy of the space is just lovely- precisely what we had hoped for. As a host, she is easy to get in touch with should you have any questions.

    Lindsay 2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a great little house! Clean and cozy, steps away from the river. Nice quiet location less then hour away from Acadia.

  • It was a great experience staying in this cottage for two days. It has a great view and quiet neighborhood. Decoration in it is wonderful and we really enjoyed our time there.

This log home built in 2000 is nestled in a wooded area with neighbors not too far away. Very close to the lake for swimming, boating, and fishing if you desire. Canoes and kayaks can be rented and delivered through a local company. Acadia National Park is within easy driving distance of 45 minutes but many of our guests just choose to remain here to enjoy the loons and beautiful sunsets. Amenities: Full kitchen with dishwasher Coffee makers with filters Internet access Satellite TV Bathroom with shower only downstairs Half bath upstairs Outside grill Outdoor fire pit near water Open dock
1/4 mile down a country lane. Neighboring cottages on either side but this log home has plenty of privacy.
  • The host left a personalized welcome note upon arrival. Communication was amazing through out the process and the property was excellent! Would certainly recommend this property to others.

    Jamar2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful log home by the pond. Water shallow enough to go in and cool off on warm day. House is very clean and nicely decorated. Quick responses from Nancy and always provided us with lots of detailed info regarding directions and market near by. Dick also greeted us when we arrived even though it was late at night. It was very nice of him. The log home had everything we needed to prepare our meals. Even though it was about 1 hour drive to Acadia national park, we will definitely return to this beautiful home. Only down side is too many mosquitoes since it's by the water. Make sure you have something to chase away those mosquitoes.

  • This was an excellent residence to stay in. The cabin was more spacious than appeared in the photos, had all the amenities, and was cleaner than almost any place we've stayed. Going to be hard to top this.

  • I feel really welcomed by the host. The house looks much prettier than the picture. The location is great. 45 minutes of driving to Acadia national park and 30 minutes driving to moose point state park. The weather was too cold to Kayak but I will definitely do it if the weather permits it. The house is clean and neat. It is a cozy little place for a family trip or a trip in general. The view from the Padio is just stunning. You get to enjoy the Toddy pond and all the beatific scenic views! I will definitely come back for summer vacation.

  • Nancy and Dick were very gracious hosts. The log home was everything we hoped it would be. The rooms are good sized, the kitchen was well appointed and the spot on the lake is beautiful!

    David2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our five night stay at this log cabin home was delightful and peaceful. The log home gave us the rustic outdoors feel without compromising modern amenities. We really enjoyed the pond/lakefront experience and accessibility. Our boys learned to fish for the first time and our daughter learned how to canoe. We also enjoyed the fire pit on some nights. The home is very comfortable with a sitting room on the back of the house that has great views of the pond/lake and plenty of sliding doors for fresh air. I commend the owners for the great upkeep of their home. The kitchen is fully stocked which was nice since we did a lot of eating in. There were plenty of towels and blankets as well. We found the owners to be hospitable. We wished we could have stayed longer and will consider staying here again in the future.

    Marian2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy could not have been more accommodating as my family who was to accompany me was stuck in the hurricane in Florida at the last minute. They worked with us to make it work. The place was cozy, lovely and secluded. However, one of the beds needs a new mattress and the wifi didn't stream well, causing an issue for one in our party. The campfire on the lake was so nice to come home to after a big day in Acadia. The pictures truly represent this lovely cabin in the woods. We'd rebook if we returned. Thanks, Nancy.

Let us know that you need both of our cabins and we can try to reserve both spaces for your extended family. We also have a pet friendly cabin on the next property that is available for rent.
There are very few neighbors, since this is a rural country setting. There is a retired police officer and his wife that live across the street and we own the cabin "next door" which is through the woods. Our farm house is on it's own property a few houses down.
  • This was my first time booking on Air B&B and I had a wonderful experience. Jennifer is a gracious host and was always available for any questions/concerns/recommendations on places to dine and attractions to see. The cabin is so private, but close to Acadia; it was perfect for our weekend getaway. Exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and is situated on beautiful land with many hiking trails. Having a full kitchen and fenced in backyard was great for cookouts The dog had a wonderful time too and was welcomed with open arms. Already planning on our next trip back!

  • We LOVED our stay at the cabin! It was perfect. We actually ended up cooking dinner ever evening at the cabin because we brought our dogs and preferred to be more with them. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed hiking all around the property on the numerous trails. We couldn't have asked for a better getaway!

    Rae 2017-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer was a great host! The place was exactly what we expected and more, perfect location for people that love nature! Already talking about coming back next year

    Mathilde2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a good value place to stay with a relatively short car ride (45 minutes to Acadia and Bar Harbor). There are hiking & biking trails adjacent to the house, which is super convenient with kids and pets. There are pet amenities including a fenced back yard and a nice quiet atmosphere. If you want a break from your pet you can also put them in doggie day care 1/4 mile away at a very reasonable price. Definitely recommend if you want peace and space away from the more touristy area of Bar Harbor.

  • Beechwood was a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. It was a cute, comfortable, and stocked cottage that fit our needs. About an hour away from Acadia, our main reason for our trip. Jennifer was a great host it was an absolute pleasure meeting her! The cottage would have been perfect for our dog, but he is too old to travel. It would have certainly been a great vacation for him! Pro-tip: bring bug spray! There was some in the house, but you can never have enough. I would recommend Jennifer's home for your quiet vacation!

    Helen2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin in the woods to experience the beauty of Maine! We enjoyed seeing Jennifer's dogs and ponies.

    Dirk2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer is very easy to contact and coordinate check-in with. Wish we could have had time to meet her (we spent a majority of our time at Acadia) but we had a great stay in the cottage!

  • Jennifer was so accommodating and great about communicating with us. She always got back to me a few minutes after I sent her a message. We absolutely love the sunrise cottage. It is such a homey place with everything you could need and more. Sunrise was so accommodating for a dog and has privet trails behind the house for us to use any time during our stay. The only thing I would say would be to during good bug spray for the walk because of the flies.

  • Awesome cottage, really clean, very private, with everything you might need. Perfect for pet owners. Jennifer and Tony are very nice people, who know how to make guests feel welcome. We couldn't have asked for more.

  • The perfect place for a quiet and relaxing getaway! The cottage was the perfect size for my mom and I. The kitchen had all the utensils we needed and Jennifer kindly provided the amenities (plus extra). We loved being able to take our dog with us (she enjoyed being able to wander around the fenced-in yard and exploring the land for a bit). We weren't able to have a campfire as our daily excursions made us too tired, but the area was set up beautifully. The cottage is currently undergoing some renovations and Jennifer says wifi should be set up by August, so that'll be great for those of us with horrible service. My mom loved it so much, she's already talking about our next trip!

    Jeannie2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend away in the Sunrise Cottage! Jennifer and Tony were incredibly hospitable hosts, and our group all felt welcome right away. The cottage was clean and cozy, we all slept wonderfully. The surrounding nature was gorgeous to look at, complete with a fire pit and picnic tables! Would definitely stay again! Thank you Jennifer & Tony!

  • We really enjoyed staying at the cabin. It was a little bit too long of a drive to Acadia which is where we went to but I waited too long to make plans. Jennifer was really attentive and her cabin was awesome and very comfortable and clean. There are many gems around to explore and dine at around Peneboscot!

    Jose2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about the Sunrise Cottage and our hosts Jennifer and Tony! The cottage was clean, new beds and linens (linens and towels smelled clean!) Jennifer and Tony went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and even boarded our dog for the day at an extremely reasonable rate. We knew our dog was in good hands! We hope to be able to come back and stay again. Thank you Jennifer and Tony!

Acadia National Park is within easy driving but you won't have to navigate any crowds here. • From the moment we arrived at the cottage, we knew it was exactly what we wanted--a break from the frenetic pace of NYC. Nancy and Dick were both absolutely lovely people as well. The cottage itself is gorgeous--a Finnish carpenter did the beautiful wooden interior apparently. Our little family of four had everything we needed--a fully stocked kitchen, a canoe to take out on the lake (to see the Maine sunsets), a few loons swimming around on the lake, a grill, and a fantastic lobster place a short drive away (ask Dick and Nancy!) Blue Hill is also nearby, which is a great town. The cottage is also less than an hour from Acadia. We liked the stay so much we started planning on when we could return on our last day. A week later, still dreaming of the cottage on the lake.

    Alexa2014-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin, the pictures don't do it justice. Everything was exactly as described. Perfect base location for Acadia hiking. I wish we had stayed longer!

  • Nancy came over to greet us shortly after we arrived, and she couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming. The photos on Airbnb don't do this place justice - everything is really nice and seems very new. Super clean, updated, comfy, modern but timeless. Dishwasher and laundry are a great bonus! The setting is so beautiful and serene. We had a great time; I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • My second time staying, and I'm just as tickled as the first time. This cabin is truly the quintessential Maine lakeside experience! From breathtaking sunsets, to fireside chatter, to delicious meals, to day trips to Acadia, it was a week of wonderful memories made!

    aaron2016-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at the cottage! Everything is in great condition and very clean. We enjoyed using the grill out back and sitting by a campfire at night looking at the lake. The cottage looks identical to the photos. We met Nancy when we arrived and she was extremely friendly and so welcoming. She made us feel right at home. We drove into Bar Harbor or Acadia National Park every day we were there. The drive took about 45 minutes. It was a wonderful location to enjoy peace and quiet and still be near all the beautiful and fun things the area has to offer! Thank you Nancy and Dick for renting us your wonderful cottage :)

    Claire2015-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I completely enjoyed our time at the cottage on Toddy Pond. The cottage has all of the modern amenities with a cozy cabin feel. We loved sitting on the dock and taking in the magnificent sunsets. As you walk around the property, the smell of pine greets you at every turn. Nancy and Dick were welcoming and could not have been nicer. We absolutely recommend the cottage.

    Amaris2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy was very easy and friendly to communicate with and she came by herself to make us feel welcome. There is a lot of handy and clear information in the cottage about how everything works and what to do in the neighborhood. The lake is really beautiful, we went kayaking in the early morning and we where thinking, during summer time, the lake must be wonderful to swim. At night we made fire in the pit and we ate marshmallows under the stars. So we had a wonderful time at the cottage!

A charming cottage situated on 1.5 acres amongst evergreens just 100 feet from the shore. Enjoy cooking fresh Maine lobster and blueberry pie in a full kitchen, or grill in the open air on a gas grill. Experience the sun setting over the pond while listening to loons call. The cottage is 7/10s of a mile from Route 1, so make a day trip to Bar Harbor or Acadia National Park just 28 miles away. Toddy Haven is the perfect home away from home while you discover the wonders of coastal Maine.
The cottage dining area with cathedral ceiling and lighted fan is a comfortable place to eat while others gather to play games on the lakeside alcove of the dining room. The living room is the perfect place to sit and relax after a day of adventure in Acadia or kayaking right on the pond, while you watch your favorite program on a 55" 4K Chromecast flat screen with Sling TV. Listening to the loon calls from the screened in porch gives a sense of tranquility any time of day. For chilly evenings, a propane heating unit will cozy the entire cottage right up. Rest comfortably on a new king sized bed in the lakeside bedroom. There is a double/twin bunkbed in the second bedroom, and a twin bunkbed in the detached bungalow. There is a 3/4 bathroom as well. The cottage has been renovated and is extremely clean. A new fresh water well was installed in 2016 for your convenience, so reliance on lake water is unnecessary. A new septic system was also installed in 2017 and most of the interior furnishings are brand new. Guests have private access to the lake as well as to kayaks. Toddy Haven is the perfect home away from home while you discover the wonders of coastal Maine.
Because we are situated on 1.5 acres, neighbors are at a comfortable distance.
  • Loved it all: the secusion, the dock on the lake, the fast wi-fi, the comfortable bed. Might need A/C in summer, but we sure didn't. In fact we didn't need heat in late September.

    Paul2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a relaxing vacation at the cabin! We caught fish while kayaking, enjoyed sunsets on the dock, had nighttime fires near the water, saw many shooting stars, and went swimming. We also had a great time exploring the surrounding area. A challenging hike at Acadia and then a local, longer hike in the Great Pond Mountain area. Thank you for sharing your space, we would love to come back.

  • Mark's place was a great place to just relax and spend time with family. The dock was great for watching sunsets and we really enjoyed our time there. It is just a short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We would definitely stay there again if our travels go back to Maine. Mark was a great and thoughtful host. Thanks again Mark for the breakfast goodies and especially the fresh Maine blueberries!

  • This rustic, cozy camp blends nostalgic memories of childhood summers with the convenience of 21st century technology. The outdoor area down by the lake has a picnic table and fire pit, as well as a very lovely setting with huge boulders and a very nice dock with built in benches. The view of the lake is stunning, and sunsets can be spectacular. There are kayaks, an inner tube, noodles, and other water toys, as well as fishing gear available. We took some lovely paddles around beautiful Toddy Pond, and took a refreshing dip or two during our stay. The cabin itself is comfortably furnished--just as I remember from childhood summer cabins--with just the right amount of furniture to do the things you need to do, but not too much stuff that would get in the way. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need, including a full size refrigerator, range, microwave, coffee maker, pots & pans, kitchen tools, dishes, flatware, etc. There are screened porches on both sides of the cabin, and there are large windows in the main room of the cabin that open up to the porch to let the summer breezes blow through the house. There is a large-screen TV and DVD player (and probably other amenities we didn't use) for movie nights, but also plenty of games and books for quieter evenings and afternoons. We didn't use the bunk house, but I imagine older kids or young adults would find it quite convenient and cozy. The beds we did use in the main cabin--a king size and a double--were comfortable and there were extra blankets for cool nights. Mark and Laurie left very clear and comprehensive instructions and rules for the house, as well as instructions on how to reach them if needed.

  • This was a perfect little hide away lake house. It was equipped with everything you need to live as if it were your home. Cute, campy, and great views on the lake with plenty of amenities to keep you busy. Not too far from Acadia and stores. It felt like a second home to us. Thank you!

    Olivia2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is cozy and well furnished. The setting is very lovely and we loved the screened porch and windows that open to the living room, the fire pit and the new dock! Mark is very nice and made sure we had a good visit. Highly recommend!

  • Mark was an exceptional host who Mark made us feel very welcome. He gave us many excellent recommendations of what to do around the lake and places to eat, and was generally extremely helpful throughout our entire trip. The lake house has everything you need to have a comfortable stay, as well as great equipment to use such as kayaks, fishing rods. The location is beautiful and only a short drive to Acadia national park. Couldn't recommend more highly!

Our place is in the heart of the Blue Hill peninsula, close to Blue Hill and Castine. You’ll love our place because of the spectacular views of Northern Bay and our pristine salt marsh. Relaxing in the Adirondack chairs and watching the bay change as the tide ebbs and flows is a delight, and is not unusual to see bald eagles soaring over the flats.
Lindsay and I have renovated our classic cape over the last few years. The first floor bath, with a stall shower, is new, and the upstairs bath, with a claw foot tub, commands a great view of the hay fields and barn. The kitchen is very fully equipped. Like most old houses in Maine and New England, our place is situated on the road (think of shoveling all that snow!). We rarely find the traffic to be a distraction from the serenity of the surroundings, and the view of the bay is unimpeded.
  • Loved our stay at this house in Penobscot. Plenty of room and beautiful views. We spent most of our time biking and kayaking in the many amazing coastal areas of Maine near by.

  • We loved Stuart's house! It was charming and had everything we needed to have a relaxing week in Maine. Stuart and his caretaker were both super responsive and helpful with suggestions. We had a great time!

  • A wonderful house in a perfect location! Truly serene and the McLean's made the rental process simple and stress free. Great hosts, great house!

    Caroline2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • View was spectacular and the house was charming and quaint and equipped with everything you need. The property manager, Bim, was extremely helpful with insight on points of interest around the area, as well as a great person to chat with about Maine in general. The bugs were pretty fierce, but I suppose that's to be expected this time of year in Maine. Our family fell in love with the State and look forward to our next visit.

  • Cozy place with spectacular views! My family and I enjoyed a wonderful extended weekend at Penobscot. The host was very accommodating and housekeeper checked in from time to time. The view from the front of the house is simply amazing.

    Hasan2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely and relaxing stay at Stuart's renovated cape, which has some of the best views on the peninsula. The house is comfortable, clean, and well-stocked with supplies. It's in a great location that allows for easy access to many wonderful towns to visit. The lobster shack up the street was perfect for our evening dinner and ice cream. Stuart kept in touch and Bim, the caretaker, stopped by to provide directions to everywhere we wanted to go.

    Susan2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The caretaker was there to greet us and answer any questions. He returned the next day as well to see if we had any questions. The house is charming and cozy. It is remote but that is what we wanted. It is a place to read and let the world pass by. We were interested in the house's history. The house is decorated in the Maine style. There are plenty of reading materials to acquaint a person of the area. Every window hold a view worthy of a watercolor, an artist's paradise. The mosquitoes were abundant but that is part and parcel for the locale so it is not a detriment; it's just a need to know.

    Diane2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at the antique cape on the bay. The house is comfortable and is in a really lovely location. Hosts and caretaker were easy to reach and accommodating and the house was nice and clean when we arrived.

  • I can't say enough about this house. Brook and Mark have provided ample pictures, but the pictures still don't capture the overwhelming feeling of peace and comfort that this house provides. I had an amazing stay - it was very clean, bright, warm, comfortable and peaceful. Brook and Mark left a very welcoming note for us and made themselves available for any questions. This was my first visit to Maine and after day 1, I promised myself I would stay in this house when I visit again! It is secluded enough to get away from everything, but still close to necessities. Overall, a very lovely home with unique and bright decor, while still emitting a chill, comfortable vibe. Thank you Brook and Mark for opening your doors to others and allowing them to experience this home!

    Maryam2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • The location was peaceful and quiet. The furnishings were nice and brook was nice enough to mail us back the towel and robe that we left. The only suggestion that I would have is to have a better mattress for the main bedroom. The one they had when I was there kinda sinks in the middle. Besides from that I really enjoyed my stay at happytown.

    Alain2017-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing house! Exceptionally clean, a great spice rack, and a foodie kind of kitchen that I greatly appreciated!

    Teresa2017-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Don't hesitate to book this home! It was clean, beautiful and stocked with everything you'll need to have a great stay. It was close to Acadia national park and all the attractions we wanted to see, but secluded enough to feel refreshing. We especially loved that the kitchen was well stocked, and the fridge had condiments etc... things you need but wouldn't want to bring. The towels were soft and clean as were the sheets, and the big bathtub was great for soaking after long days hiking. Our only regret is that we didn't get to enjoy the home more and spend time just being there. Next time for sure. Thanks for a great stay, Maine is beautiful!!!

  • This house was a beautiful place to call home for the few days while we were visiting Maine. Check in was easy and communication was quick. The house is large and stocked with all of the amenities you could need on a stay away from home. It's beautiful and among nature and the morning sun coming thru the windows were a beautiful way to wake up. Their collection of books and games were great for those nights in too. We were traveling with our 7yr old daughter and their daughters room made her feel right at home. All in all it was a wonderful experience and we would stay again in a heartbeat.

    Steven2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Brook's place was nothing short of spectacular. She communicated very well prior to and during our stay, and made sure that we were as comfortable as possible. The home itself was absolutely lovely. Would recommend to anyone!

  • For us, the hikes at Great Pond Wildlands rivaled Acadia. Great location and fun place to stay.

  • This place was perfect for our overnight. We were so grateful for the food treats. Yum! The sheep were a plus and we made friends. Very friendly hosts.

New to market! An oceanfront cottage with both generous spaces and cozy gathering spots, the Beach House at Sandy Point is perfect for a family retreat. Offering spectacular views of the Penobscot River, you can watch seals and eagles from the deck, and then take the stairs down to the lovely, quiet beach on a protected cove. Perfectly situated for day trips, explore Belfast, Bar Harbor, Acadia, Camden, and more. Or just take in the ocean views from the wraparound deck, and do nothing at all.
Ideal for groups, the Beach House offers plenty of private rooms and sitting areas, as well as large entertaining spaces that all can enjoy. Gather in the big kitchen, spread out in the great room (and onto the adjoining decks), play ping pong in the walk-out lower level, and more. When it's time to go your separate ways, the second floor features two comfortable suites, each with a sitting area, walk-in closet, and full bath. The third floor has two bunk rooms, a lounge with balcony, a separate den/bedroom, and 1.5 bath -- a perfect kids' level, or great for two families. There's another guest suite in the lower level and a first floor sunroom the doubles as a bedroom.
Down a quiet dead-end road in the tiny village of Sandy Point, The Beach House sits almost at the end of a peninsula. Situated between the Penobscot River on one side and a lovely pond and woods on the other, the view from every angle is breathtaking. Stroll along the street to nearby hiking trails, or take to the shore to reach lovely Sandy Point Beach. Charming Bucksport and vibrant Belfast are within a fifteen minute drive, and Bar Harbor, at the doorstep to Acadia National Park, is less than an hour away.
  • Nothing short of perfect!! Thank you Jessie!

  • Great place - very spacious and comfy, with a fantastic waterfront view

    Alex2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was very nice house and Jessie was very kind and reply text very quickly.

  • The Beach House was absolutely everything we wanted and more! My husband and I rented the space as a location for our wedding. We were able to share a small, intimate ceremony and reception with our closest family and friends, as well as inviting them to stay for the weekend. The location was beautiful from the beach, to the patio, to the house itself. It truly felt like home, and we were devastated when we had to leave! Jessie responded to all of our questions and requests very quickly, typically the same day, and made the trip as seamless as possible. It was nice to have consistent communication. We would definitely recommend this space to anyone looking to unplug and spend quality time with loved ones, truly relaxing and connecting with nature.

    Becca2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • This house has everything a family could need for their stay and then some. My extended family of 9 adults, 2 teenagers, 3 toddlers, and 1 infant had plenty of space with room for more. The house is large enough to give everyone their privacy, but the main living area also provides ample space for group gatherings (that included streaming a Patriot's game, family game nights, and seating the entire family in the dining room for all meals). Jessie the host is super friendly and very responsive. We stayed after a huge snowstorm during an unusual deep freeze, and she addressed every concern we had respectfully and efficiently. We definitely plan to stay at the Beach House again!

    Amanda2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very beautiful beach house in a gorgeous and peaceful spot. Everything was well though out, and Jessie was very responsive and cooperative. I wish our stay was longer. We would definitely consider going back!

    Mehdi2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, extremely large and spacious house with beautiful views of the harbor and its own access point to the beach. Plenty of space for my group of 15. Very relaxing weekend and Jessie was incredibly easy to communicate with and provided a long list of tips and recommendations in the area!

    Daniel2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a large get together with multiple families ... House was incredibly clean, very spacious and well laid out to give adults and kids their own space . We had a wonderful time and hope it’s abailable again this time next year . Finally, the hosts were very responsive through the process ( before trip, during trip and afterwards). I would highly recommend this property !!

Maine glamping at its finest. This sweet little cabin is bright and clean. It's definitely glamping though! No running water and composting toilet. There's electricity but no wi-fi. Cooking is on a propane camp stove. No shower but a clean and gorgeous freshwater beach is just a few miles down the road (Branch Lake.) Enjoy quiet starry nights in Happytown, both the name of our road and our rural community. Bangor & Blue Hill are 30 min., Bucksport and Ellsworth are 20 min., Bar Harbor is 50 min.
The cabin is very comfortable and cozy and quiet. This cabin is good for a single traveler, a couple, or a small family. It's essentially a studio with a kitchen and dining area in the same room as a couch and queen bed. A twin bed is tucked in a sleeping nook and a bucket-style compost toilet with wash basin (no running water but we provide water in large cooler and there is a working hose outside the door) is also tucked away in a separate private nook. The kitchen is fully stocked with a Coleman camp stove. There is a dorm sized fridge. There is a second rental on this property and you will share a driveway if there are other renters but the cabin itself is very private. It's Maine glamping at its rustic finest.
Happytown is a rural area in the woods of Maine. There is an organic farm 1/4 mile away where you can buy veggies and eggs. The closest town is Ellsworth (15 min.) Bangor and Blue Hill are both 30 minutes away and Bar Harbor and Belfast are both about 45 minutes.
  • I had an amazing time at Brook's cabin. It was very secluded and quiet. We had our own private space, despite the fact that there was another cabin on the property. Brook stocked the cabin with everything that we needed and was very accessible by phone. I highly suggest staying here!

  • We had a great time visiting Maine and Brook's cozy cabin was a perfect home base. The Ellsworth is conveniently located and the cabin in Happytown was a great retreat. We enjoyed the peaceful woods, campfires in the pit, and cooking some camp food on the stove inside. A great quaint way to stay off the beaten path near MDI.

In the heart of Acadia gateway, this cabin is close to all your sightseeing venues. Retreat to a secluded, quiet cabin that is powered by wind and solar. A welcome oasis after busy sight-seeing or hanging out and reading a book in the hammock, cooking your own gourmet meals, or conversation with cocktails around the fire. On this 50 acre parcel, the best of Maine is your oyster.
This is an off grid cabin that was originally built as a hunting camp in the early 1900s then modified to survive Y2K, and now a comfortable cabin/house to enjoy the mountains and surrounding sights. It has all the amenities of power, running well water, septic, showers, sinks, refrigeration, and yet little carbon footprint. Open concept downstairs with 2 bedrooms upstairs. Lots of open space to view the night sky or climb the mountain and see vistas from Acadia National Park to Camden Hills. This mountain Cabin is without a doubt the most remote and secluded vacation rental in the region. This is THE place to be if you truly wish to escape the stresses of “civilization." This is NOT a typical rental home. Very far from a motel! It is an off-grid home and powered by solar and wind. The cabin has an open concept living with kitchen, dining area and living room all connected on the first floor. The first floor bathroom has a door, shower, sink and flush toilet. The two bedrooms are up 3 foot scuttle hole stairway (see pics) where you may have to duck your head. The bedrooms are separated by a privacy curtain. They each with queen beds, with the larger bedroom has an additional single. The indoor bathroom with shower with on-demand hot water, open concept living, dining and kitchen area that is fully stocked with dinnerware and silverware and items for your gourmet lobster/seafood/game meals. A wood stove or a gas heater with thermostat will take the chill off cool nights. All bedding and bathroom linens provided. Access to the property is gained from a major rural road and then the gravel drive that winds up the mountain. After a hard day of sightseeing, have cocktails around the outdoor fire pit with only the stars above . Privacy and seclusion with locked gate. There is a garden (end of July-Sept) on the property that you're welcome to use with fresh produce and herbs. Rustic outhouse available. Plenty of parking. The remote location may scare off some luxury seeking tourists, but true outdoor and nature lovers aren't deterred by being off grid. Bonuses for the rugged adventurers include unparalleled seclusion, amazing views, diverse wildlife and plant life, stunning night skies, rugged hiking, a spectacular sunset from on top of the mountain. Guests will also enjoy access to miles upon miles of rarely traveled trails in the adjoining Great Pond Wilderness that abuts the property. Also take your kayak to Branch Lake across the street where there is ample areas for biking or walking. Branch Lake beach and boat ramp is down the mountain and 3 miles away for swimming and launching boats.
The rural and scenic views and the privacy. It is 25 minute drive to convenience stores, supermarkets, and gas station.
  • It was such a pleasure to stay at LB's cabin. LB and his wife very welcoming, giving us a total rundown of the cabin and its amenities. They also provided ample fire wood, a fully stocked kitchen, linens and towels. They told us about the numerous hiking trails around their property. They were also extremely kind and helpful when I ran into car trouble near the end of my stay. The property itself is a slice of heaven and I am extremely grateful for LB and his wife for sharing it with the world. It is a secluded cabin up on the mountaintop, there is nobody around and no sounds to be heard.

    Harkirat2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lb & his wife Kristina were the perfect hosts. The first thing I should say is don't let the "off the grid" intimidate you because this place was amazing. Their cabin was exactly as described, in fact even better. The view is to die for and the cabin is way more spacious than I expected. As a solo traveler I had no issues handling the unique "off the grid" features of their space, Lb & Kristina met me at the cabin upon arrival and gave me an in depth tour and explained everything making sure I was comfortable and answering any questions I had. The view was absolutely insane during the day and a night their fire pit was the perfect spot to stay warm while waiting for the stars. I had never seen so many stars in my life. They are in close proximity to a ton of a great things to do, less than an hour from Acadia National Park, I had a great day trip and came back to relax in the peace of their secluded cabin. Unfortunately due to illness I had to leave early and didn't get to check out the Wildlands nearby but they had a ton of great resources available in the cabin for cool places to check out. I can't say enough great things about this cabin & I have already recommended their place to my friends and look forward to an opportunity to come back when I'm feeling better. As a young solo traveler I felt safe and comfortable even being so secluded, Lb and Kristina were quick to respond to any questions I had and I highly recommend that everyone check out this cabin, it is worth it.

    Rachel2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was just fantastic! Off grid as described but with all the amenities we needed (heat, hot water etc.). The garden is amazing and the living room/kitchen is very cosy. We stayed in and cooked dinner every night as it immediately felt like home. LB and his wife made our stay perfect, they already had the fire in the wood oven started when we arrived and showed us around. They also gave us some recommendations when we texted them for a good lobster place nearby. If we find the time we will definitely come back!

    Lara2015-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Serene and relaxing

    James2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • LB was very helpful and very patient. The cabin was secluded, cozy, and relaxing. In fact, on our first full day we decided to just stay 'at home,' relaxing by the fire pit, taking in the view, enjoying the silence, and drinking gin and tonics. It's really off the grid, and we are hoping to visit again!

    Keith2016-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for remote beauty look no further! The cabin is rests on your own personal mountainside overlooking a meadow of wildflowers. Each morning you will wake to birdsong and fall asleep to the sound of wind through the trees. The cabin is absolutely adorable and well furnished. We especially loved the outdoor fire pit and indoor wood stove for a comforting fire. Our hosts were very accommodating and made sure our stay was perfect.

    Brian2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The mountain cabin in Orland was exactly what we hoped it would be. LB was a great host, the location was fantastic, and the cabin was well-equipped.

    Stephen2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • LB and his wife are amazing hosts. My wife is not an outdoors type but she absolutely loved our stay here. I wish I could give the place a bad review so that this place stays a secret but I couldn't do it to our awesome hosts. Make sure you make a fire outside, enjoy waking up to an amazing sunrise over the mountains without having to take your head off the pillow, and definitely hike up to the top of the mountain for the view. I didn't want to come home.

Beautiful Toddy Pond home, just minutes to Blue Hill and coastal surrounding towns. Less than an hour's drive to Acadia National Park. Enjoy the day lounging on the deck, boating, and swimming in the pond. Enjoy the evening by the fire pit under the starlit sky and listening to the Loons. The downstairs interior is post and beam with an open concept, hardwood floors, tile, kitchen, living room, fireplace, bath and office. The upstairs has a horseshoe belcony, three bedrooms and bath.
  • The setting is amazing, at a peaceful lake, with wonderful views and surrounded by nature sounds. It is one hour away from Acadia and we did daily trips. We found Sadie's place very homey and restful!

  • The house is comfortable and clean. The location is amazing: both private yet close to many conveniences and sites. Being yards away from the lake provides for a serene environment, perfect for a restful break. The house comes with canoe and life jackets. Loon Sound Cottage, on beautiful Toddy Pond in Surry, is centrally located between Bar Harbor/Acadia & Blue Hill Peninsula. Come and enjoy the peace and tranquility of a lakeside oasis while just being a short distance from many sites of interest. Bar Harbor, Castine, Blue Hill, Deer Isle, Bucksport (tallest observatory bridge in the world), Acadia. Hear the loons at night, kayak to beaver cove and see an eagles nest. Tranquil, wildlife and peaceful. A great place!
This charming cottage is nestled in among the evergreen trees and is located just 60 feet from the shoreline. Enjoy cooking fresh Maine lobster and blueberry pie in the full kitchen, or grill in the open air on the gas grill while watching the sunset over the pond. The living room is the perfect place to sit and relax after a day of hiking in Acadia or kayaking right on the pond. Or enjoy listening to the loon calls from the sweet screened in porch off of the living room. Wake to beautiful sunrises from your bedroom, which offers a comfortable queen sized bed. There is also a double futon in the living room for overnight guests. The cottage has been completely renovated and is extremely clean. Loon Sound Cottage is the perfect place to call home while you discover the wonders of coastal Maine.
It is quiet and tranquil! Most of the neighbors are birds and trees!
  • Great cottage and surroundings! Perfect comfort in an ideal setting

    Cynthia2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I spent a few great nights at the Loon Sound Cottage. This place is really beautiful, and a great home base if you're planning a trip to this region. The house itself was lovely, and the screened in porch really makes it special. Toddy pond is amazing, and the dock was a great place to just sit and enjoy the scenery, day or night. We were able to take the kayaks out on the pond as well, and it was just an awesome time. There really is so much to do in the area, from exploring the many hikes, trails, and sights Acadia has to offer, to the nearby towns (Surry, blue hill, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor), and much more, my girlfriend and I only wish we could have spent more time here. It generally took us about 50 minutes or so to get to the entrance to Acadia, but coming back to the cottage every day was the perfect retreat, and it was secluded just in the way we'd hoped. Such a wonderful and relaxing place. OH, and the lobster from Perrys is excellent! Would love to go back.

  • We loved our stay at the cottage! It was quiet and we really enjoyed sitting on the porch and taking in the lake view. We were close enough to bar harbor to enjoy acadia and the restaurants. We used the kayaks at the big house and plaued on the lake one day. We hope to come back!

  • Is difficult to describe in words the amazing spot Maureen and Rob have. Amazingly beautiful private cottage with all you need to spend a romantic time in one of the most beautiful places you can find by the lake. The view, the sunset, the quietness, the loons... Rob and Maureen are extremely welcoming. The cottage is spotless and the breakfasts and improvised melted cheese lunch we had were amazing (we still want that cake recipe). We learned a lot about the sound of loons, the time they spend under the water and were able to explore the lake by kayak (and even try some golfing on the lake!) Definetly would love to come back.

    Jon2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great set up for a couple, or for two fishing buddies (comfortable sleeping option in living room). Not at all cramped under either scenario and the cottage is well-appointed. Beautiful part of the lake and Maureen and Rob are lovely people.

    Hugh2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rob and Maureen provide an exemplary experience with their Loon Sound cottage. The bedroom is small with little room for putting clothing, but the bed is comfortable and the sheets are nice. The kitchen is adequate and the knives are sharp (a real pet peeve of mine is getting to a rental with dull knives). The pots didn't have lids so some improvisation was needed, but the stove and grill and fridge were more than adequate. The bathroom was clean and nice as was the den and screened in porch. The lake was absolutely magnificent and the access to multiple types of watercraft: canoes, kayaks, etc (along with PFD's) was exceptional. Rob and Maureen were quick to help and available if necessary. Finding the location wasn't difficult, though it is a bit off the beaten path. We found the 45 minute drive to Acadia National Park wasn't too long or cumbersome for day trips into the park.

  • What a great setting if you want peace and quiet! The Loon Sound Cottage is cozy and quiet but has everything you need for a comfortable stay!

  • Maureen and Rob are excellent hosts! They welcomed us and were so helpful with maps and places to go! The Loon Cottage is charming and very serene surrounded by woods and lake. I highly recommend this for a very relaxing vacation! Terry and George

The cabin is close to art and culture, great water views, the beach - ocean, lakes, ponds.., family-friendly activities including hiking in Acadia on Waldo mountain... whale watching, antiquing, waterfront concerts..., and restaurants and dining or stopping in at a local lobster shack. You’ll love this space because it is unique. The comfy bed, the coziness, and the views of Mill Cove and the Harbor. The cabin is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
  • Sarah was a fantastic host and we just loved the cabin. Our only regret was that we were unable to stay longer. The house was the perfect home base for day trips to Acadia and Stonington (on our way back we rented kayaks which was a magical experience complete with porpoises - (Website hidden by Airbnb) Sarah was incredibly thoughtful providing coffee, cookies, strawberries and essential groceries for our first morning. The house had everything that we could have needed from dishes to toiletries and we enjoyed every part of the outdoor area, eating dinner on the small table, relaxing in the lawn chairs, and watching the tide roll out in the rocking chairs. The house is not far from a few grocery stores and great places to eat. We walked up the street to visit Super's junk shop (a must visit that you can't miss) and enjoyed a stroll to the neighborhood park. Initially I was a little concerned about the proximity to the train tracks, but we didn't hear a single train during our four day stay.

  • My husband and I had the most amazing, peaceful stay at Sarah's cottage. The view is breath-taking--my favorite part of our stay was drinking coffee on the deck in a rocking chair over-looking the cove. It always took us a few hours to leave the cottage. Something about it really made us slow down, relax and enjoy. The cottage was impecably clean--it took us by surprise actually. The shower was nice and hot, the linens were super soft and the bed very comfortable. Pantry essentials were stocked with some goodies that really came in handy. Sarah is a very thoughtful host. You can tell she enjoys this. She is very communicative throughout the entire process and is available if there are any issues, which we had none. We hope to come back for a visit someday!

    Erin2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay at Sarah’s cabin. Would return in a heartbeat when I visit the area again.

    Beth 2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Such a gorgeous spot! My husband had a great time. Sarah had everything you need for a day at the beach and a full kitchen. Delicious treats in the fridge were waiting for us, what a nice surprise.

    Jessica2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Sarah's cabin. Fresh produce in the fridge welcomed us on arrival, and the cabin itself is cosy yet spacious. We especially liked the quiet location, away from main roads etc, so you really do hear nothing when you step outside. With all the creature comforts you'd expect in a getaway cabin, I'd highly recommend to anyone looking to escape it all!

    Julian2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Sarah's cabin for four days over Thanksgiving. It was a lovely warm place, great for a relaxing break. We drove to Acadia national park on one of the days but otherwise just enjoyed the peace and quiet! We would love to be back.

  • My girlfriend and I needed a getaway from the city, and this place was beyond great. I recommend Sarah's cabin for anyone looking for some R&R with a beautiful view. Sarah was easy to communicate with and the interior of the cabin was wonderful. Outstanding all around.

Gran Den is a large, contemporary, kid-friendly home on a 9 mi lake called Toddy Pond. Enjoy privacy, stunning elevated sunsets, a dock, raft, canoe, big yard and a tennis court! Spacious deck spans the length of the home - great for grilling, sunbathing, meals, drinks, naps and stargazing. Waterfront and tennis ct only 100-200 ft from deck. Enjoy all nature offers – loons, bald eagles, humming birds – on a lake that you’ll feel like you own. Close to Acadia National Park, Deer Isle & Blue Hill.
If you are wondering how this home is different from others you are considering, ask me! Whether staying for a long weekend or all winter long, our guests routinely report Gran Den to provide one of their most treasured experiences away from home. Gran Den is a bright, spacious, and airy home with a timeless design. While many of our regular guests find they rarely leave our property, our home serves as an excellent base for ventures to Acadia, Deer Isle, Blue Hill or many other points. Two families of four can easily share our home; more are possible. We reserve the right to charge extra beyond 10—please inquire. - King – Spacious, ground-floor master bedroom with huge windows to lake and loons - Queen – Large, quiet ground-floor bedroom with plenty of storage - Queen – Large, quiet second-floor bedroom - 2 Twins – In semi-private loft - Small foldout foam double – in a small, semi-private side room - Linens for all beds - Comfortable couch and daybed - Room for air mattresses (not included) We have a well-appointed kitchen that is open to the dining and living spaces. The cooks and cleanup crew will feel at one with everyone else and with the lake. Cooking will be a joy as you overlook the lake, take in sunsets and easily talk with other guests. Our home has been rented throughout the winter many times but it can be pretty cold. At times during the heart of Maine's winter season it can be challenging to maintain indoor temperatures above 65°.
Blueberry fields border the distant (inaudible) road. Homes are well separated by both distance and forest. Blue Hill, Bucksport, and Ellsworth are all roughly 15-20 minutes away. Acadia National Park and a Deer Isle are about 30-40 minutes away depending on driving conditions.
  • Brady's home is the place to go if you're looking for peace and tranquility. The home is beautiful, stocked exceptionally well, and rich in history. The property is beautiful, complete with tennis courts, and sits on Toddy Pond. The sunrises and sunsets alone are worth the visit. Surry is a short drive to Blue Hill, Ellsworth,Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park (all highly recommend to visit!). Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Tim, the property manager, who ensured we had everything we needed and were comfortable. We'll be back. Brady, thank you for opening your home to us for our getaway weekend. It was peaceful and fun, and all that we hoped it would be.

  • The house is amazing right on the lake. It can confortably sleep 10. The kictchen is well equipped also. We had a big group and everyone had a great time. The hosts had canoes for us to use which was awesome. The lake is incredible with water that is at the perfect temperature for swimming. Just watch out for the rocks while swimming or canoeing. At night, you can see a bazillion stars, it's truly amazing. We will definitely be back here if we make another Maine trip. Brady was very accessible and some family was staying at their other house next door (though you can't see any houses. Its heavily wooded so great for privacy). The family was super friendly as well. Everyone had a great time over the long weekend.

  • The listing was very accurate. The host was very responsive and helpful. Many places that I have stayed are about half as nice as depicted in the photos. This place was far nicer than the photos depict. Absolutely wonderful

    Rodger2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • This house is perfect for family and have a nice view around there. However, we could not contact the host on the first day of the trip. We had to figure out the way to get inside the house by ourselves. By the way, overall was great

  • Beautiful setting, lovely comfortable house that's incredibly well stocked. Great views of the lake. Everything you could possibly need.

  • Gran Den is fantastic and we loved it. It was the perfect lake-side cabin getaway and we can't wait to get back there.

    Mark2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house was supplied with all you can think of and more. We had a wonderful, relaxing family time by the lake, Brady was a very helpful host, answered all of our questions, and his recommendations made our stay easy. Would definitely go there again!

    KARINE2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Brady's house is a wonderful getaway. Beautiful house with sweeping views of the gorgeous Toddy Pond, wonderful layout with well appointed kitchen, and spacious, open dining and lounging area. Bedrooms are also spacious with great views. The pond is excellent for swimming and kayaking, and the deck and hammock by the water offer some of the best reading spots I've encountered. Less than an hours drive to Acadia for day trips. Was a perfect place for my family to rest, relax, and explore coastal Maine.

Our property is a rustic A-frame cabin on beautiful Branch Lake--very private. The water is clear and deep, and the house is literally on the lake shore (drop a stone of the deck and it will splash). There is a cozy bunk house with additional beds and its own shower and bathroom available. 20 minutes drive to town and less than an hour to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
  • A great cabin on the lake. Spent a month and was sad I could not get it for another 2 weeks. Thanks Barr and Jen for everything.

If you're looking at the opportunity of visiting the great state of Maine, don't simply visit, fully experience it. Our transcendent and serene setting will certainly help you accomplish just that. Remove yourself from whatever chaos you may be involved with at the moment and book your visit, so you may once again become in tune with nature and peace.
    Wonderful location on 9 acres.
  • Absolutely amazing view and stay was awesome. Due to time constraints on our road trip we couldn't stay long so we are definitely hoping to come back!

  • This little cabin is close to the 1000 islands in Alexandria. Cute little place, very clean. Space heater kept us nice and toasty during the night, perfect cheap spot to stay for those doing an overnight trip!

  • Scott was an amazing host and was always available through email or text anytime I needed him! When we got to the venue he met us at the door and gave us a tour of the house(which is beautiful beyond words! And completely reasonably priced). The house is beautifully placed on waterfront property near a marina and there couldn't have been a better view, plus it smelt like we were right on the ocean, simply perfect. When I can back later that day Scott was hanging out with my parents out by the fire, truly a great host! He was extremely open to giving us complete privacy in the home if we wanted and stayed close by during the nights we were there just in case we needed something. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone, especially if you plan to travel with quite a few people, as we did. The house is large enough for a big family/group of friends and much more reasonably priced than paying for a small hotel room, and the location is to die for. I will definitely be returning! Thanks again Scott!, Megan

  • Gorgeous wood cabin along a big river (the photos make it look small but it's actually huge). Scott was an awesome host, set us up with everything we needed and was always a phone call away. The most pleasant surprise was the hot tub - we didn't notice it listed under amenities and were excited when he showed it to us. All together a great place to get away from real life.

    Frank2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Scott's house was absolutely perfect. The pictures don't really justify how great it is. The house itself is very big, equipped, clean and comfortable. You can definitely find whatever you need. It's located in a very quiet and peaceful area, it has an amazing view, a hot tub outside to use and watch the stars at night. Scott was really friendly, responsive, and an excellent host. I'd definitely want to go back, highly recommended.

  • A really nice place for a vacation. Would definitely recommend.

    ranadip2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • A true majestic view of the river and nature that surrounds Scott’s gorgeous estate. The house alone is stunningly beautiful, made out of wood with ample space and amenities. Including even the large hot tab, which was a wonderful addition to our vacation:). Scott has delivered on every promise that was made prior and during our stay. Very responsive host, who is willing to go above and beyond to make sure that his guests are enjoying their stay. I am planning my next trip to Maine and will certainly be staying at Scott’s majestic house. Best regards Eugene and Deena
