Places to stay in Oneida

Places to stay in Oneida
Enjoy the peaceful country neighborhood with dark skies, and summertime fireflies. The cabin is on the second floor of a detached building on our property. With one complete bedroom, fully kitted kitchen, full bath, and even a loft, this space has a lot of room to spread out. Relax after a day of exploring on the huge covered back deck. Big South Fork Nat'l Park is 10 minutes away! The conveniences of Oneida are 2 miles away. Knoxville is 1 hr. Local craft beer and lots of adventure await!
The space is a completely private and detached area, but on shared property. You have a dedicated, covered parking space. There is a complete flight of stairs to climb. Brand new LUCID brand mattresses. The entire space was renovated June 2019 with new flooring in the bathroom, new appliances, new furniture, and all new kitchenware!
The neighborhood is quaint and very quiet. South Fork Tack shop is walking distance and offers cold beer, tack, hiking supplies, and much more. Oneida (Wal Mart, restaurants, gas, etc) is about 2 miles away.
  • Can’t say enough about Big South Fork or the cabin. Awesome place!!! Scott and Kristin are wonderful people and wonderful hosts with an absolutely beautiful guesthouse cabin!! With so much to do in the area they live in, we were hardly at the cabin during our weekend stay, but the cabin is a great place to just hangout and relax. It’s spacious and they have it spotless clean! Bed’s great. Showers great. We didn’t watch TV but they have it set up that if you want to, you can watch anything. The cabin is full of really cool decor and touches that make it comfortable, and even has a porch to relax on if you’re there with the time! As I said before, we weren’t there much because the area they’re in has so much to do. If you love hiking the outdoors and admiring Earth’s natural beauty, Big South Fork is for you. If you really want to explore all there is in BSF, a weekend is not long enough, haha. We went to the O&W Railroad bridge, Twin Arches (gotta do the Twin Arches Loop!), and Yahoo Falls/Arch. We also went to Lillypad Hopyard Brewery which is THE coolest brewery you’ll ever go to. These were all suggestions from Scott and Kristin, and they were amazing! RaeZack’s is a great place to eat, and Lillypad (which is in Lancing, TN) also has “The Sauced Frog” that has GREAT BBQ! But as they have in their house manual, Oneida doesn’t have a ton of food options, so if you’re there for more than a few days, I’d recommend bringing some groceries because there is a kitchen, we just weren’t there long enough to use it. Scott and Kristin are both so friendly and accommodating. They were unbelievably kind for the short time I saw them upon arrival, and always responded quickly before and during our stay! Scott initially offered for us to hangout by the fire pit that’s in between their home and the cabin on our second night there, but my girlfriend and I didn’t make it back until around 11 PM. I genuinely hope I make it back there some day to continue exploring all there is (and to hangout with Scott and Kristin). I would 12/10 recommend staying here if you’re wanting to stay at a really cool place and wanting to check out BSF or anywhere around the TN/KY line!!

  • Awesome host! Great value and spotless!!! Any hikers visiting be sure and hit Slave falls and if you go to Rugby check out the Gentlemans swimming loop trail. All are in the Big South Fork. Scott's place is the perfect hub for outdoor adventure in the area.

  • We visited in late January for a mountain biking getaway. Two of us, and we found this to be spacious. Many nice amenities: comfortable bed and comfortable pillows; appreciated the shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash in dispensers in the shower; plenty of bowls, plates, pots and pans, and cooking utensils; TV set up for Roku for streaming using our own accounts with auto logout at the end of our stay; books available and local printed guides. Very conveniently located by the Bandy Creek trailhead for accessing the mountain bike IMBA Epic route. Not expected, not after a long day on the trails on Saturday, they invited us to join them for a bonfire. Scott and Kristin really are lovely hosts and it was a pleasure to meet them and stay here for our trip.

  • Had a great stay! Weather wasn’t great so having a cozy spot to warm up and enjoy was very nice. Scott made great suggestions to help accommodate the weather and make the best of it! Highly recommend for a weekend getaway.

  • Nice house, nice view

    昱成2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place we stumbled upon with this house. The view was absolutely breathtaking! The advertising pics do not so the actual view any justice. The house itself is brand new and provides a huge taste of solitude due to its semi-remote location, far from the beaten path of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The house is wonderfully decorated. The kitchen is stocked pretty well for making meals. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and we understandably wished we could have stayed longer. We will absolutely stay here again, without a doubt.

  • This place was perfect! The views are gorgeous! The house was so cute and had everything we needed. We will be back for sure!

If you have any hesitation at booking this place, DON’T!

Wilderness Ridge is quietly nestled in the Williams Creek/Station Camp area with The Big South Fork National Park less than a mile from its back door. If you are looking for a place to hike, fish, climb, swim, mountain bike, kayak, canoe, take a relaxing horse ride, or just a private and secluded place to get away and relax for a few days, look no further, Wilderness Ridge is your place.
This property is extremely close to the station camp entrance of the Big South Fork National river and recreation area. The property is very secluded and quiet. Perfect for those wanting privacy and nature. We also are a pet friendly property, which is hard to find.
The property is positioned well off of the main road with no viewable neighbors. It has wonderful pasture and wooded views(not part of the rental property). We are located approximately 20 minutes outside of Oneida, where you can find grocery stores, a Walmart, and a few resteraunts and some fast food options. Just a suggestion, but since the house is a bit of a distance outside of town, You might consider going to the grocery to get food, toiletries(we provide a starter amount of personal toiletries but not enough for heavy use or long stays), or anything else you may need to grab before you head to the property.
  • The country setting was peaceful and relaxing. Rhyan was very easy to work with and she communicated extremely well !! The beds were comfortable, the house was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Our girls loved having their own space in a house, instead of staying at a hotel. We would definitely stay at her place again if we are ever in the area.

    Jonetta2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in close proximity to Big South Fork State Park. We enjoyed a long weekend with our dogs, and it was great to have a nice, warm, clean home to come back to after hiking all day. It’s exactly like the pictures.

  • The house was lovely and very clean. My kids enjoyed the play set outside and we were very comfortable here. Had a great stay!

  • Wonderfully peaceful and amazing host: My husband booked this stay as a surprise trip to Big South Fork and it was perfect. We enjoyed exploring Oneida and just driving around- it is gorgeous! We saw so many stars at night! At one point, we accidentally locked ourselves out and he was quick to come and rescue us. The location is perfect for peace and quiet. Will definitely keep in mind for next time we are in the area. Thanks again!

    Erica2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a hidden gem in Big South Fork area, this is IT! The rate is a great value for what is included. The cabin was very clean upon arrival and had all the basic needs during our stay.

    Kaitlin2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house was clean, easy checkin, and out in the country. We loved this aspect, as we could see the stars so clearly. We also loved the horses being right there. We enjoyed being so close to big south fork hiking. Plenty of small town things to do, we went to a fall festival in the next town over. People were friendly everywhere we went. Internet and Netflix worked great. Highly recommend this home for a getaway.

  • A lovely quaint getaway. This little cabin is nestled in a wooded area with small walking trails. I was able to watch otters play in the creek! A truly beautiful location with a gracious and communicative host.

    Caroline2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is a wonderful spot for a country mountain "get away." Plenty of beautiful scenery (woods, stream and fields) and peace and quiet make this a great place to relax and rejuvenate. The cabin itself is cozy and homey, with all the essentials (small kitchen with utensils, wifi, tv, etc.). One thing, just know that there are no doors in the cabin, including to the bathroom.

    Christian2019-12-29T00:00:00Z

  • Granville's place is beautiful and White Oak Creek is magical. Granville's awesome little funny dog named Bones came down to the cabin to hang out pretty much whenever I came outside, which was great. Me and Bones walked up and down the creek, and she sat out there by the creek with me while I read my book. It made the place feel like home. The cabin was simple and comfortable with a good shower, a good little kitchenette, a comfy bed, and wifi. If I make it back to the Big South Fork area and it's too cold to camp, I'll definitely stay here again.

    Willie2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really peaceful and quiet and the host is very kind and invested in ensuring you have a relaxing and comfortable time. As a person of color currently residing in Nashville, I was a bit nervous venturing out into other areas of Tennessee. However, Granville was very nice and I felt extremely welcome. I would recommend this place for people looking to get away and maybe do some hiking at Big South Fork Park. I appreciated staying here in the cooler weather as I am not a fan of insects, lol. The cabin is well insulated and has three heaters that you can control. I was nice and toasty. Great place to stay.

  • Perfect for a quiet and tranquil getaway. My 2 dogs loved the yard and had plenty to explore. Close to amazing parks and hiking areas.

  • This "little cabin in the woods" is quite special! Built with pride and passion by the host and his family. It was super comfortable and just the right size for a couple. It makes for a nice get away or if you're passing through! The bed was super comfortable (new bed) and just an all around comfortable place. My husband and I hope to make it back some day!

    Katie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Attention All Star Gazers!! When we 1st arrived we were greeted by the sweetest dog “Bones” (loves belly rubs) Granville was out there to greet us when we arrived. The house has everything you need. It was thoughtfully decorated with lots of Jamaican decor and pictures. At night we put down a blanket and looked at the stars. On a clear night you could see the Milky Way. There are mountains around 30-45 mins away well worth the drive. Also check out RaeZacks restaurant. Good food, great hospitality. Granville was most accommodating with anything we needed. We got to meet his sweet wife and had a brief conversation with her. They’re yard is endless. Our pups had a ball running around! If you need some time away to relax this is the place!

Plenty of trails on the property for some good low key hiking and exploring. We're definitely coming back.

  • We had a great time at the cabin! The space itself was comfy and homey; perfect for reading by the fire while it lightly snowed outside. We attempted fishing in the pond and got a few nibbles before heading in out of the cold to enjoy some hot coco by the fire. A much needed relaxing weekend. Thank you!

Near Big South Fork and Historic Rugby. 3 mile hike from the cabin to the river round-trip. Or drive to the trailhead and hike half a mile to the river. Come here to unwind and de-stress. Totally peaceful :-) My favorite time of year is winter at the cabin. Nothing like sitting in the hot tub and looking out over the frosty trees and mountains!
This is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom with shower, living room, fully equipped kitchen, and open loft area. The couch is a sleeper sofa and there is a large carpeted loft.
Close to Big South Fork National Park and Recreation Area and Historic Rugby. Plenty of outdoor activities here.
  • Beautiful cabin for a relaxing weekend! We had no issues with cell service for anyone who might be concerned.

  • The best cabin we’ve EVER stayed at, and the best view EVER I might add!!!

  • Cabin was everything it was advertised as and more. Views and location were incredible.

    Sean2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We love love loved it here!!! Total cabin feel. The hot tub on the balcony was our favorite in the morning watching the sun warm up the valley and burn off the low hanging fog. Great views, cozy fireplace, kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make a small Thanksgiving dinner while we were here. Close to local hiking trails. We hiked Lick Creek trail about 30 min north of the cabin - highly recommended. Another spot we loved (it's a bit further away ~1hr south) was Lilly Hop Brewery, if you're able to make the drive it was worth it!

  • This was our second time staying at this cabin and it was just as perfect as we'd remembered. It's so peaceful, and the amenities like the hot tub and fire pit really make a difference. Can't wait to stay again!

    Elise2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was really nice and the view was spectacular! We almost didn't want to leave to go hiking because it was so beautiful and the hot tub was a great touch. There were lots of games and movies for the evening/if we had had bad weather. We really appreciated the space. It was very easy to find and check-in. Everything was great!

    Madeline2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place. Lots of room both inside and out. Hiking trails easily accessible. Hot tub was perfect. Safe, clean, remote yet every comfort you could want. We can't wait to come back and bring more people.

  • This place is great, you won't regret staying here. Things we liked - the hot tub, the comfortable beds, being able to walk right off the property and onto a hiking trail, outdoor seating, screened in porch, kitchen stocked with staples, games and DVDs, woodsy decor. 6 people slept very comfortably, we felt welcome and Brenda was very responsive to questions. I hope to be back.

  • Grits was gorgeous, so much work and attention to detail has been put in this place. I would def visit again.

  • We loved our stay at Grits cabin and had a wonderful time there. Beautiful cabin situated in a secluded area surrounded by natural beauty. The cabin was very clean, cozy, quiet, and had all the amenities we needed to make our stay comfortable. Perfect home base for our outdoor adventures. Brenda was a great host and quick to respond. Would definitely stay again.

  • The GRITS cabin fully exceeded our expectations. It was absolutely beautiful inside and out. We love that we were able to bring our dogs and let them run free outside... it felt very private; not another cabin in sight. We loved the porches and the hot tub and the outdoor fireplace... It was such a relaxing getaway. We wish we could have stayed longer!

    Brooke2019-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was a dream in the woods. Amazing private location with plenty of space for six. Stayed here when hiking the Honeycreek loop and had everything we needed from a small town with groceries and a great location.

Our 3200 square foot log home is nestled in the Appalachian Mountains overlooking a meandering creek, lush green pasture, and hardwood forest. The three bedrooms and bath in the loft are available to a single, couple, or a family. We have many requests from people with ATVs. Unfortunately, we have limited parking and can not accommodate trailers.
Though my wife and I will be available, guests will have all the privacy they would like. There are three bedrooms in the loft, with a full bath which serves the three rooms. The great room provides a comfortable place for individuals or the entire family to enjoy a movie or a cozy chat.
Our neighbors are lovely people and will most likely be around. We ask that you respect their privacy and stay within the boundaries of the Ambleside cabin.
  • Our large group felt welcome and there was plenty of space for everyone

    Daniel2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Another lovely stay at Ambleside! This time I particularly enjoyed watching the fog and mist and even a little snow up on the mountain. Loved experiencing the outdoors through the beautiful windows while I stayed cozy and dry inside. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

  • This house and setting were beautiful! If you are looking for a place that is quiet and peaceful , then this is exactly what you are looking for! Stephen was very nice and helpful with some questions we had and he really wanted to make sure we were happy and comfortable. My husband and I travel this area at least once a year and we WILL be back!

    Tina2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful and comfortable home was perfect for our group. Our group consisted of two families (2 adults and 2 kids in each). The set-up of the house allowed one family to sleep upstairs and the other to sleep in the lower level with room to spare. The main floor's large and open living spaces meant everyone could spend time together. The grounds are just as beautiful as the home. There are a trails to explore, a creek, lots of space for kids to run and play. Also, the hosts Stephen and Claudia were so nice and accommodating. We are looking forward to our next stay. Now, to figure out when we can get away...

    Jessica2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen and Claudia are wonderful hosts who go above and beyond to assist you and make sure you are comfortable. The location is away from everything and very peaceful.

    Joy2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem! Super clean, super affordable, a great home that is fully stocked with all that you need. The cabin is in a nice secluded area and the perfect place to relax and unwind. We traveled with 12 people total, including 6 kids age 5 and under, and it worked out great. The cabin has a lot of toys and books for the kids, and our kids loved them. They also loved playing with the dogs that roam the lot, hiking on the trail, and exploring the creek. Also, Steve and Claudia's hospitality was fantastic. They are very communicative, helpful, and attentive to their guest's needs. Their home is and the surrounding area is beautiful. If you are looking for a low key place to relax and unwind, I would highly recommend Ambleside!

    Luke2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our experience here was just amazing. We loved the property so much. Huge space for six women. We had tons of space. Kitchen had everything to cook meals for the weekend. We will be back !

    Michelle2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the most beautiful homes my group and I have ever stayed in. The house itself was beautiful as well as the property it sits on. At dusk we saw hundreds of fireflies in the field behind the home all the way up the mountain that the back porch sits at the foot of. It was like nothing any of us had seen before. This is the perfect home to get away and have some peace and quiet in beautiful Appalachia. It's a tasteful space that could comfortably host my party of 6 easily. Truly stunning. Thanks Stephen!

  • Spent thanksgiving here with our 4 kids ages 7-16 and our dog. House was perfect for us. Location was everything we were looking for. Kim had hiking trail ideas and we had so much fun hiking in big south fork. Waterfalls, rocks to climb and all very close by. One rainy day was spent playing games and watching football. We cooked all our meals in the well stocked kitchen. It was just what we needed to get away.

    Brande2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic, spacious, great firm beds ( in a good way), very easy to communicate and check in and out. Proximity to Blue Heron park was excellent (10 minutes!). So close and so beautiful! Lots of stars and the fire pit and wood was awesome.

    Sarah2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place. Tucked away, private, clean, cute and cozy. Our family loved out time here. We spent a lot of time visiting parks that were very close and absolutely loved the ATV trails that were super close to the cabin. We liked rocking on the front porch and enjoyed rigorous walks around the cabin with all of the of hills on the pretty private loop the cabin was on. We definitely want to come back to the area and the cabin again. The hosts were very attentive and even brought an airpump when one of our 4-wheeler tires were low. Thanks again for a great week!

    Jessica2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable, and country. We really enjoyed this cabin. It is very clean and well designed with two bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs. It is located in a rural, but not isolated area and has very modern amenities with WiFi, etc. It was a great place to relax after a day of checking out some of the local sights, and its location worked well to access all the things we wanted to see such as Cumberland Falls, Blue Heron Mining Community, and several arches and overlooks. We would be happy to stay here again.

    John2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! A beautiful and well-maintained cabin! The decor was modern, the beds were comfy, and the jacuzzi bathtub was that extra something we weren’t expecting. Definitely family friendly. Great communication with the host. Lots to do in the area! We will definitely be back.

    Sarah2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is very clean and well decorated! My mom and I stayed for a couple of days and we had a great time. There’s a cozy porch and fire pit to hang out around out back, and nature all around! The beds were comfy and there was satellite tv to watch after walking all day on the trails. The roads can be somewhat confusing just because we would lose signal to our gps every once in awhile, but the scenery was beautiful so we didn’t mind. We got to see a lot of little critters around the property as well. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet escape into nature. It was very relaxing.

    Nicole2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at this home! The house was immaculate and the hostesses we’re very nice and easy to reach. The home itself is secluded but located in a charming hilly neighborhood. Quick drive to local parks and hiking. The Whistle Stop Cafe was great and we enjoyed it twice in our weekend stay! Plan your trip ahead of time for parks and hiking, there’s so much to see!!

Our Log Cabin is a cozy place to relax and enjoy with your family. We have all you need to get a way to enjoy some memories. It is quiet and peaceful. Great family time. Walking trail, firepit, grill, horseshoes, sandbox, Creek and it joins the Pilot Wind Trail that joins the Big South Fork National Park a 16 mile walking / hiking trail. Everyone's enjoys. We have the Big South Fork River 6 miles from our Cabin to enjoy as well. Plenty of site seeing around our area. Come and enjoy.
We have a firepit/ with a grill and a propane grill. Horseshoes, picnic table, plenty of parking, plenty of sitting areas, rocking chairs, screen in porch, board games, 4 tv's, cable, creek, the cabin is relaxing and a cozy place to enjoy. Quiet and peaceful.
Nice and peaceful. We have a gate at the entrance and a gate that goes into our cabin. Nice and safe. Quiet. No traffic like at bigger cities.
  • Such a serene environment at this cabin. Everything you could need is on the premises. Plenty of firewood, a fire pit, hammock and plenty of outdoor seating, outdoor games like a sandbox for kids and horseshoes for adults, and hiking trails just off the back porch leading to a beautiful babbling brook. The cabin itself is simply and beautifully appointed. We were lucky enough to visit during the holidays, so the Christmas decorations were a lovely touch. The cabin has everything you could possibly need on the inside as well! There was definitely a day that we just didn’t leave the house, curled up next to the fire, and played board games. Highly recommend giving it a whirl - you will not be disappointed!

  • This place was excellent for our family fall break. Enough space for our four kiddos and really comfortable bed for parents. Immaculately kept - not a cobweb anywhere and its a cabin in the middle of the woods!! They had everything we could ever need (to include kids books/games/movies) - plus a table full of local brochures and tips of places to explore. The property is super quiet, private and there is an awesome hiking/horesback riding trail behind the home (plus a creek for when the weather is nice!). We used the fire pit every night and our kids loved playing in the sandbox and swinging on the hammock. Not too far from downtown Oneida and with one Wal-Mart online pick up on the way in - we didn't have to leave the cabin once. Also near some awesome nature trails within driving distance. Would definitely stay here again if the opportunity allows. Thanks Tim + Lisa!!

    Angelina2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was the best cabin we have stayed at yet. The layout and appearance was beautiful, they had everything you could think of while staying there. We loved being outside the most. It's such a beautiful area that's private but not too far from town. We spent a lot of time around the campfire and loved all the different seating on the porch. Our grandkids loved the sandbox and horseshoes. We also enjoyed fishing on the island and seeing chimney rocks. We hiked some trails around the cabin too. We will definitely come back here again.

    Brenda2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tim & Lisa’s cabin was absolutely Amazing! I would have to say out of many cabins we have chosen this was one of our favorites. The pictures on this site does not do the cabin and the land it is on justice! It’s just beautiful!! We made many memories here and hope to come back to make many more! Thank you so much for letting us stay in your little piece of heaven!!!

This is a newly restored farmhouse on our 45-acre regenerative farm. We're minutes from hiking, biking and kayaking in Big South Fork. In fact, one half of the couple who owns this farm works as a ranger at Big South Fork. We love the pastoral views this home has from its kitchen windows--and the original hardwood floors.
We use a propane stove to heat the home in winter. If you are very sensitive to the smell of propane, this might not be a perfect fit for you. Our flock of guinea hens may also come visit. They're noisy, but the home's brand new windows help!
We are really close to so many great trails in Big South Fork, but also at Pickett State Park and Pogue Canyon State Park. We're avid hikers and cyclists and would be happy to give you plenty of suggestions for rides and hikes!

Anam Cara is a charming cottage tucked away on one and a half acres in the Historic Village of Rugby. The name translates into "soul friendship" and garners an atmosphere for weekend retreats, a writers getaway or may serve as a cozy weekend gathering spot for friends. It borders protected lands and the Big South Fork National Park, is easy walking distance to the Clear Fork and White Oak Rivers, as well as the Village of Rugby and provides peaceful, gorgeous views of the mountains.
We discovered this home in the quiet village of Rugby when visiting some friends that live here. It has a unique charm that we will not be able to enjoy year round because our jobs are not in Rugby. We named it 'Anam Cara' to reflect the friendships we hold so dear to our hearts, our desire to foster kindness, creativity and cultural bridges in our everyday journey with known and yet to be known. ****IT'S REMOTE! You'll want to bring in your groceries and your libations. There is a cafe and general mercantile....but you should plan to bring what you need and enjoy!****
The Village of Rugby: The Victorian Village of Rugby was founded as a Utopian community in 1880 by British author and social reformer, Thomas Hughes. It is a rich historic community nestled between Big South Fork National Recreation Area and the Rugby State Natural Area. Non-profit Historic Rugby was founded in 1966 to restore and preserve the village. The village houses a visitor centre and theatre, hosts various weekend arts/crafts/antique festivities, walking tours of the historic buildings and provides lovely meals at The Harrow Road Cafe.
  • Anam Cara Rugby is respite for the soul. Wonderful vibe, great details, good communication, nice wooded retreat. Best AirBnB in TN.

  • Anam Cara is a magical place - the pictures don’t do it justice! Our stay there exceeded our expectations and more. So many extra special touches! We had such a wonderful time and hope to return again to this beautiful home in the woods of Rugby.

  • Loved the place. Was within walking distance of the visitor center in Rugby (maybe 10 min walk?) so was perfect to walk back after doing all the Christmas things and having a few drinks at Harrow Road. Great amenities -- coffee, tea, honey, etc. Wifi worked great. Adorable building.

  • Jills Anna Cara house was very nice and relaxing. It is in a beautiful location. It was stocked with things you need for cooking which we did because it is out away from the stores. We loved being in the woods and how quiet it was. We enjoyed our stay very much. I highly recommend her place.

    Kelly2019-10-25T00:00:00Z

  • Anam Cara was an oasis of peace and quiet. You will find this house more beautiful than described and portrayed in the pictures. The setting is awesome, the beds are comfy, everything was sparkling clean, the kitchen has everything you need, lots of special touches and the town of Rugby and its people are charming. One feels like one was transported back to another time. We will be back!

    Silke2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable and homey spot right in the National Park zone. The house is secluded, right next to this mini 'trail' of sorts, and the wrap-around porch with the tables and chairs was the perfect spot to curl with a book while enjoying the serenity and forest view. The entire area is full of similar type of houses, but this one was one of the cutest in design we thought. It's also very convenient to hiking trails. It's also packed with amenities!!! This was a big surprise to us and VERY RARE for an airbnb, let alone an airbnb in the woods!! She had all the cutlery and kitchen gadgets you could need, a lot of extra bedding, and mini shampoo, conditioner, and even a disposable toothbrush! We had packed all of that anyway, but seeing the thoughtfulness was still a nice surprise. Overall cute place, would recommend it if you want a serene getaway.

  • We had a group of five and we spent four nights at the cabin on our off road riding trip. The cabin accommodations more than met our expectations. Great place and Carl is a great host! How nice is the place? He's lucky that he didn't have me stay as a squatter! Close enough to the riding trails where you don't have to trailer your machines everyday. We will be back!

Faithfully reconstructed 1880s boarding house with guest room (accessible). Authentically preserved, unspoiled British-founded historic village. Surrounded by river gorges and historic trails, bordered by Big South Fork National Recreation Area.
The Bensted Bedstead is an ADA compliant, open, wheelchair-accessible first-floor room that includes a barrier-free shower, microwave, small refrigerator, lift chair/recliner and WiFi. (Note: The lift chair reclines to provide a comfortable single bed for one person if needed.) Sunroom and porch are also available for your private use in the evenings. A light continental breakfast (fruit, juice, milk, oatmeal and cereal) is provided, and snacks (crackers, cookies and popcorn) are supplied also.
The restored Victorian village of Rugby was founded in 1880 by British author and social reformer, Thomas Hughes. This would-be Utopia survives today as both a living community and a fascinating public historic site, unspoiled by modern development. Twenty original buildings still stand, nestled between the Big South Fork National Recreation Area and the Rugby State Natural Area, surrounded by rugged river gorges and historic trails. Historic Rugby has been open to the public since 1966 and is nationally recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and many others as one of the most authentically restored and preserved communities in America. A national award-winning movie is shown of the history of Rugby, and tours of original buildings are available most days. The southern tip of Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area forms a boundary line for most of the northern end of Rugby. Cutting deeply into the Cumberland Plateau, the Clear Fork and New Rivers come together at the Confluence to form the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River. Their main channels descend approximately eleven feet per mile. The swiftness of free-flowing water through the boulder-filled river beds have created a paddler’s paradise. Although the rugged terrain limits access, there are several popular hiking trails in the south end of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. There are two Big South Fork trailheads in Rugby- The Gentlemen’s Swimming Hole and the Meeting of the Waters. Newly opened in 2010, the 725-acre Rugby State Natural Area offers a unique interpretive experience from the rest of Rugby as it focuses on a homestead built in the 1860’s on top of a ridge with a spectacular view of the Cumberland Mountains. Several other intriguing short trails are located in the village, making a total of nine miles of trails within Rugby. Scott State Forest, Colditz Cove State Natural Area, Pickett State Park, Frozen Head State Park, Obed Wild and Scenic River Area, Sgt. Alvin C. York Historic Park, Muddy Pond Mennonite Community, Highland Manor Winery, Big South Fork Scenic Railway, Historic Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary and Distillery, and Blue Heron Mining Community are all within easy driving distance.

  • We visit Rugby every year for family reunion. This was the first year we took advantage of lodging in Rugby. We were delightfully surprised 5 quiet setting and the peaceful atmosphere and this quaint little rental. Those provided snacks and drinks as well as information about the surrounding area four tours and sites to see. We highly recommend this little getaway.

  • We enjoyed a lovely room in a quaint town with lots of peace and quiet. Beautiful area not far from larger towns and outdoor activities.

    Karin2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Bensted room at Donna's place is so much more than my son and I expected at Historic Rugby. It was super clean and well stocked with everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Annie was very welcoming and helpful. The location being in the heart of Rubgy makes it for very easy access to all the village's activities and the Cafe.

  • The place was clean and nice! Had pots and pans, coffee cups, salt, pepper and sugar. Extra trash bags and nice soft blankets were provided. Also had a nice supply of toliet paper and soap as well as plenty of towels and a hair dryer. Very nice place! Comfy living room suite and direct TV - even though we didn't spend much time here. Grill outside on a nice deck. Location was perfect for riding Brimstone - trailhead #1 is literally down the street! The store for buying permits is convenient to this location as well.

We love this cabin! Perfect view of the mountains from the back deck. In the morning you will see the mist rise up over the river. Unobstructed views of the mountains- all to be enjoyed in the new 8 person hot tub! The cabin is very private and is close to Big South Fork and Historic Rugby. It is only a one mile drive to the trailhead that goes to the confluence of the Clear Fork and New Rivers- half mile hike.
New deck with 8 person hot tub!
Great for kayakers- we are 1 mike to the trailhead leading to the Confluence of the New River and Clear Fork River
  • Really great cabin with an incredible view. I would definitely stay here again

    Anne Marie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and I were so excited to surprise my mom with a weekend getaway at Anne’s cabin, but once we arrived the cabin far exceeded our expectations. The views from the property were even better in person. They were breathtaking and pictures did not do them justice. We spent mornings in the hot tub and evenings laughing together on the patio taking in the mountain sunsets. Anne was an absolute delight to communicate with. She was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed to complete our stay. She even made sure to drop by extra laundry detergent. We hope we can come back to stay at her little slice of heaven again!

  • We had a wonderful stay at the peaceful cabin. Spectacular views of the area and everything you need to really relax. I really enjoyed watching the birds and staring out from the comfortable hammock. Great to stay in a place that you can tell the owners really love.

  • Awesome space and place to stay.

    Jake2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • First and foremost, the view is amazing from the outside deck. What a fantastic location for this cabin. The living area is comfortable and the decor throughout is simple but true to the location. The home is clean and everything functioned properly. We wish we had more time to enjoy all of what was available here - hot tub, the fire pit, the hammock and more. Don't miss an opportunity to stay and enjoy all this place has to offer.

    Erin2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous cabin with an amazing view. I came here with three friends from Chicago on a motorcycle trip. Perfect place to make further day trips on and around the area. The hot tub and amenities make it awesome to come back to. Very private and secluded. Wasn’t expecting it to be so well stocked with essentials, we could’ve packed less :)

  • We were nervous to stay without reviews but we needed a place on short notice. Rhonda and Ron were amazing hosts! We got in late but Rhonda had sent the door code and directions earlier that day. The house was very clean and everything worked correctly. The house is very comfortable and we felt at home right away. They provided us with free coffee and Rhonda let us know she left some orange juice in the fridge that we could have. They gave us directions to all the trail heads which were super easy to get to, just turn left! The pool table was great and the karaoke machine was hilariously fun. Beds were nice and the bath towels were soft. The garage was empty so were able to store our bikes inside overnight! The fire pit and grill out back were also nice and we had some great evenings spent there. Overall we had a blast and can not wait to return.

Backwoods Rentals is excited to offer this older country home that is located on 14 acres with a creek winding through the property and a train track positioned 60ft above the property for an awesome experience. Sitting on the back deck in the rain and listening to the tin roof and the chugging of the train high above you makes for a setting you have to experience to describe.
There is an outdoor grilling area with picnic tables, fire ring and charcoal grill along with a roof carport type enclosure to be out of the sun or rain. There is a walking bridge to get across the creek and several acres of wooded area for hiking or simply taking a walk. The house has been renovated with new paint, carpet, furniture, and decor. The property sits across the street from Wolf-Creek road which can be used to access the Brimstone trails within a short 8-10 min ride, primarily dirt-road that is 100% legal to ride on. Treat yourself to a stay at BackWoods Rental’s new Creekside Cottage today and enjoy our little piece of paradise.

  • Mary and Randy are wonderful hosts! They are close by on the property and were very responsive to our needs. The property is beautiful . The cabin was exactly as listed and very well appointed. As described, there is no cell service, wifi or cable so be prepared to entertain yourself . Bring your own favorite games, movies and shower supplies. My single and only disappointment were the beds and bedding which really need to be replaced. We would still stay here again in a heartbeat if we are ever in this area again. Make sure you stop for food , ice or whatever you want to bring first as it is about a 20-30 minute drive to the closest grocery store.

Faithfully reconstructed 1880s boarding house with 2nd-floor efficiency. Authentically preserved, unspoiled British-founded historic village. Surrounded by river gorges and historic trails, bordered by Big South Fork National Recreation Area.
This is a private, spacious area, with a great view. The unit contains an antique double bed, a fold-out extra-long single bed, sitting area with loveseat and desk, full kitchen with stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, cookware and dishware. Our guests always comment on the peacefulness of the "Perrigo Perch."
Several other intriguing short trails are located in the village, a total of nine miles of trails within Rugby. Scott State Forest, Colditz Cove State Natural Area, Pickett State Park, Frozen Head State Park, Obed Wild and Scenic River Area, Sgt. Alvin C. York Historic Park, Muddy Pond Mennonite Community, Highland Manor Winery, Big South Fork Scenic Railway, Historic Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary and Distillery, and Blue Heron Mining Community are all within easy driving distance.

  • We had a great stay at Donna's place! Super clean, very well furnished, and lots of character. We thoroughly enjoyed and if we return to Rugby in the future, we would definitely stay at Donna's place again.

  • My girls and I decided on the spur of the moment to take a trip to Rugby and wanted to stay in the town. This place was perfect. It was right in the heart of town. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Ms. Donna was very helpful in directing us where to go and what to see. We will be back again!

  • Clean, well appointed, quiet and comfortable! I wish I could have stayed more than one night. The historical Rugby village is very interesting and there would be more to see on a weekend, I'm sure. Anyone looking for a quiet and comfortable place to stay and unwind would love it!

  • Friendly! So clean! Great walking area. Wish we'd taken more food to cook in the nice kitchen. Be sure you try the Irish Bowling right out in the middle of the street, most Sat evenings. You want PEACEFUL? Rugby is it!

  • Ms.Donna’s place is a perfect quiet getaway! She is so thoughtful. I told her about how I was surprising my husband for his birthday and she left a Happy Birthday note and Chocolates for him! Such a neat little surprise for him! We can’t wait to come back and visit!
