Oakland Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Oakland

Private entry, quiet, first floor suite with artful touches in 1911 Edwardian. Close to beaches, GGate Park, GGate Bridge, groceries, cafes, restaurants on city-wide trolly line for memorable vacation/business/retreat. Easy drive to Marin.
The private first floor, sidewalk level suite, is clean, comfortable and quiet with original windows and doors providing natural light and fresh air. It's San Francisco living, so you can be sure to hear the sounds of a trolley passing by and footsteps from the flat above. SF STR permit number (4 zeroes) 949
We live in a friendly neighborhood with cafes and restaurants, and are perfectly situated to walk or take local transportation to nearby visit museums. Step out the yellow door and there are walks through wooded trails to Baker Beach, the Golden Gate Bridge, Land's End, and Ocean Beach -- to the Legion of Honor Museum in Lincoln Park, the DeYoung Museum and/or the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, with its lakes and beautiful gardens of the Arboretum. If you prefer to sidewalk explore, it's fun to walk down Clement Street from 25th Avenue to Arguello, stopping in at the pubs and Chinese restaurants (little Chinatown) -- head a bit further to Fillmore Street, or take the full journey on the California 1 trolley (electric bus) - 7 miles to the Ferry Building (about a 2 hour walk) through the distinctly different neighborhoods that make San Francisco such a great place to visit and live. If you are looking for a movie and dinner -- Pizetta 211 and the Four Star Theater are just around the corner. There's something for everyone.
  • My partner and I absolutely loved Dennis and Nancy's little holiday hideaway! The studio is very private, and beautifully maintained. There are so many little details to the space that make it cost and inviting, for example, the bed warmer, the collection of San Fransisco walks and maps in the lounge room, and the umbrellas for when you are out and about. Location is excellent, and it's very easy to get around. Nancy and Dennis are lovely, and make sure you have your privacy. We will definitely be returning- our favourite Airbnb of our entire trip!

  • Before we arrived, Dennis sent us instructions on where the apartment was and how to get in. The apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood in the Richmond District. Perfect if you are exploring the Presidio Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, Baker Beach. It's a bit far to downtown, but an Uber will get you there without any hassle. Busses also run past the apartment, but if going downtown, it's gonna take you a while. The apartment is very cozy and nice decorated. It is in the basement, so the ceiling is low and you can hear people walking upstairs. But this didn't bother us. The bed was comfortable, but watch out for the bedframe, it will give you bruises if you're not careful going past the bed! We followed up on one of their suggestions on where to eat, and it was great(Pizetta 211)! Internet is okay, was a bit slow. We are very happy with our stay here, and would come back! Thanks!

  • The appartment was really clean. We found a parking place quite easily around the block. The neighbourhood is nice and not so touristic. Please note that there is no TV in this appartment. Moreover the ceiling is pretty low (it's on street level), so it gives a cottage like impression. There was a heater to warm up the appartement, that you could use in the bed or living room, or cool down during warmer weathers. And there was a hairdryer! Btw a must breakfast/lunch place is just nexdoors!

  • The location was perfect for us. Dennis was a great host, everyone we met was really friendly. The area seems very safe, the place was the right size for us and very clean. There are a quite a few good eating places nearby. We liked the fact the place was cool due to being at basement level. We walked most places but SF is well served by public transport (#1 bus stops almost outside) and car services like Lyft are great. Down at the piers there are people giving out discount cards to use on Lyft....

    Margaret2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place was really lovely and quaint. Felt very homey and had many touches around the place.

    Natalie2015-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay in phenomenal SF neighborhood near beaches, parks, and some of the best hiking trails in the city. The apartment is emmaculate and well-designed with great attention to detail. Look forward to the next vist!

  • It was an absolute pleasure staying at Dennis and Nancy's studio basement. This was our first visit to San Francisco and they were both so accommodating, giving us helpful tips of the area. We felt very welcome as soon as we met them. The basement was cosy, well decorated, plenty of character, clean and well equipped for small meals like breakfast. Being down below in the basement you can hear some pitta patter of feet above, but it didn't seem to bother us, by the time it was bed time everyone was quiet. We will be back again for sure thanks again for a wonderful experience

  • This place is the BEST. So beautiful and comfortable. Great part of town with a great organic shop over the road and cafes down the street. Public transport right outside the door. Loved our stay here

  • Great home in Oakland with quick and easy access to San Francisco! The bedrooms are spacious, the kitchen and bathrooms have been nicely updated, and the common areas work well for dining and socializing. Anne and Beatrice were both a pleasure, answered all our question, and even mailed a left item back to us!

  • A wonderful place!!!! Very approachable and close to the freeway. Quaint and modern and very comfortable and ideal for two big families. I will definitely recommend this place. The street does get noisy at times but with only thru traffic as it's not a by lane but the main road. But it's not an issue at all if your windows are closed. Five stars to Anne and her troupe for this listing. All the best!

  • Anne and her sister were the best! They were very responsive to our inquiries and needs. The home is very spacious and in great condition (recent renovation). Appliances and beds are brand new, including a washer/dryer and tv. Convenient access to the interstate system. Everything worked great and we lucked out to find this place. Thanks Anne!

  • We had a delightful stay at Colleen's and George's lovely home. Everything that we needed was provided along with a special treat of Russian tea cakes. Thank you!

    Steven2016-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly lovely once again. My favorite place to stay in Oakland. Colleen and George are great hosts and have a beautiful property.

    Linda2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was fantastic!!! The in-law unit is absolutely beautiful and the baked goodies were delicious. Thank you George!

    Sara 2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • George and Colleen were one of the best hosts we have ever met! George greeted us with such much warmth and he made us feel welcome right off the bat. The home baked cookies and scones were definitely an amazing touch. Colleen is hands down the most considerate guest I've ever met. The entire place was extremely clean, beautifully decorated, but most importantly, it was so well-stocked. It had everything you need and even tiny things that you oftentimes forget to bring on a vacation, she will have ready for you. We will definitely be coming back and we highly recommend them. One of the best air bnb experiences you will EVER Have!

    Shelley2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Wooded In-Law "room" is amazing! The amount of space was absolutely incredible value for money! We loved how quiet, peaceful, and removed it was. The space was truly a home away from home. The space is HUGE, pictures do not do it justice in terms of what you are given for the price. George & Colleen are wonderful hosts as well: we were given a basket of fresh baked muffins and goodies upon our arrival which were delicious, and George & Colleen gave us plenty of space. While the area the "apartment" is located in is slightly removed from downtown Oakland, it a short drive to the 580, which can take you anywhere quickly. We will definitely be returning when we visit the Bay Area again!

    Kim2015-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the space for my brother, his daughter and her baby who were in town for my daughter's graduation. I wanted a place that was close enough to our house but also wanted to provide a restful place for my niece and her baby to retreat to if things got too "festive"... This in-law was perfect for my needs. Here's the review my brother, Van sent: "Colleen and George were fantastic hosts. We loved the property, very relaxing. I wish that we would have had more time. We will definitely return. Thank You guys. Van Billops"

    Cyn2015-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • George and Colleen are very welcoming, responsive and warm. We have been using Airbnb for a while now and this was truly one of the best experiences we have had. The guesthouse is beautiful and modern with heating in all rooms if needed. We were welcomed with delicious muffins that we enjoyed eating very much. This Airbnb accommodation is great if you are looking for a stay away from the hustle bustle of the city and close to nature with peaceful and relaxing surroundings. Also close to SF which is accessible via ferry or you can drive by car. We recommend this Airbnb accommodation wholeheartedly and wish to return some day.

    Kin and Avena2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a very relaxing stay. Colleen and George were very warm and welcoming and provided lots of little touches to make guests feel at home--everything from tasty snacks and fresh fruit, to a pitcher for filtered water, to a space heater for chilly evenings, and even a night light in the bathroom. The suite was spacious and nicely designed. The neighborhood was beautiful, and very quiet and peaceful. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose, and highly recommend it to others.

    Alex2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very stylish and fun treehouse in the hills of Montclair. If you want access to the Bay Area but not the craziness of the city then this is a great place.

    Erin2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Yuheng is a wonderful host. She responded immediately to our needs. The Dim Sum breakfast was a special touch. Love the shower and the peaceful balcony.

    Judy2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • The location was amazing and it was a cozy little place that felt like the right amount of space for a short trip.

    Brian2017-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Yuheng’s place thinking that we would have more time, but due to the situation in Sonoma, we ended up arriving late at night and having a couple of hours to sleep before or flight out the next morning. Yuheng was excellent to communicate with, and offered such hospitality; the bed was incredibly comfortable(!) and the space impeccable. We were grateful to have the space to relax. Highly recommended.

    Nina2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic experience

    Jiangjing2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • On a steep hillside in Berkeley is Yuheng's sweet treehouse hideaway. It's a perfect retreat for anyone who wants to step away from the cityscape and into the woods. The area is so beautiful--just up the hill from Thornhill Nursery. Yuheng communicated promptly and provided me with everything I needed to feel comfortable. I slept very well and especially enjoyed the rainhead shower with its little window looking onto the deck. She made her parking spot available for me, which I really appreciated. The path from the road to the house is steep, so I would caution anyone who has mobility problems. Otherwise, I would not hesitate to recommend her place. It was exactly as described and just what I'd hoped for. You won't be disappointed!

    mitzi2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and accommodating! Yunheng's place has what you need for a great pit stop in the hills of Oakland. Comfy bed, quiet and private place with a lovely shower. She left wine, water fruit, yogurt and other snacks to keep us satiated. Great communication. Would definitely stay here again.

    Tal2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really love this house! The decors are fashionable, especially the main room downstairs and the open kitchen. Maryline is so friendly that she replied to all messages in time.

  • Great place to visit!

    Xinghao2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Maryline's place was perfect! Maryline was on top of the check in and initial texts so that I felt confident about what to expect on check in and out. It was a nice walk to the West Oakland Bart, and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! I accidentally zonked out because it was so comfortable, as a matter of fact. As an aside, the decor was beautiful-- the colors were beautifully put together. I hope to stay here sometime again! Thanks so much, Maryline!

Old world charm & modern conveniences grace this beautifully renovated open-floor-plan flat in a lovely 1906 Craftsman-style house 1 block from Piedmont Ave on a little cul-de-sac side street. Your urban oasis. Comfy furniture, family antiques & world travel momentos make you feel at home. Bedding is 100% cotton with down/feather pillows/duvets. Cleaning fee is included in price. 1 block to Kaiser Hospital, 17 blocks to Uptown, 30 blocks to Downtown, MacArthur BART station is a 12 minute walk.
BOOKING :: Please be in touch if your ideal dates are not available on the calendar. AirBnB is a fairly dynamic venture - reservations can change by the day, hour, and minute! It is wild sometimes! Various settings for my listing may also prevent you from booking (2 night stay, etc) when, in reality, my place is available. I'd be happy to let you know about cancellations, too, if you'd like to be on the wait-list for specific dates. So please be in touch. OVERVIEW :: Your private flat, the main floor of the house, is the original formal, public part of the house. It now has two bedrooms (one large, one tiny), a living room, eat-in kitchen, bathroom and back deck. The flat itself feels "farm house formal" - some parts more formal, some parts more casual. I think it is a nice mix. It is 950 square feet with an open-floor-plan feeling to it, one room flowing into the next through large doorways. With only two doors, privacy is mostly gained with well-placed curtains. (See the photos and the details below.) It can sleep up to seven people in three rooms and five beds. For example, with one to three people, everyone can have their own bed and room. With four or more people beds and/or rooms will be shared. The closer you get to seven people the cozier it will be. But cozy is nice. (See the photos and the details below.) It has oak floors throughout with a few carpets, a box-beam ceiling and restored old growth, vertical-grain, Douglas Fir wood paneling in the living room, the original pocket doors, and a well-appointed modern kitchen and bathroom. WOOD :: LIGHT :: SHADOW These are the visual and aesthetic themes of this house. ENTRY HALL :: Wide front door with beveled glass opens into the entry hall with side light windows, oak floor, original wooden architectural columns, cove ceilings, dimable recessed lights, picture rails, plate rails, and a coat closet under the stairs. Afternoon light. There you will find grandma's secretary and a dresser for you long-term guests. FRONT BEDROOM :: QUEEN BED & TWIN FUTON CHAIR-BED :: SLEEPS 3 Oak floors, bay window, original wooden architectural columns, cove ceilings, dimable recessed lights, picture rails, plate rails, pocket doors, afternoon light. A large bedroom at the front of the house, it has the queen-size bed and a twin-size Japanese futon chair-bed (thick cotton batting wrapped in wool batting). AirBnB classifies the futon as a "sofa bed" in the listing. Again, the futon is in the room with the queen bed. There are no separations, no privacy, between the queen bed and the futon bed. The original wooden pocket doors are on one side of the room, shared with the living room. There are curtains - no doors - on the opening on the other side of the room, the side shared with the front hall, where the tall wooden columns are in photos 2, 14, 15, 19, 20. Again, pocket doors at one doorway, curtains on the other. Black-out shades. Two wooden tables are ready for your lap top, trip planning, etc. A small family collection of books about California are in the bookshelf. LIVING ROOM :: FULL SOFA BED :: SLEEPS 2 Oak floors, bay window, pocket doors, 7' wainscoating with plate rail, box beam ceiling, dimable recessed lighting, EPA certified wood burning fireplace/furnace with handmade arts & craft style tiles. Mid day sun. An arts and crafts rocking chair, a full size sofa bed, and an over-stuffed chair are a great place to relax. There is also an up-right piano for your pleasure. BACK BEDROOM :: TWIN XL BED & TWIN XL FLOOR FOAM MATTRESS :: SLEEPS 2 Oak floors, picture rail, plate rail, casement window opens to the deck, morning & afternoon sunlight and moon light. The tiny back bedroom at the back of the house has a twin XL bed, used as a day bed, and a twin XL floor foam mattress that is stored behind the bed. You can see it in photo 3. The floor foam mattress is not an air mattress. There are two wide doorways into this room, one to the kitchen, one to the living room. Both doorways have curtains. No doors. When two people sleep in this room with the curtains drawn and the foam mattress on the floor there is about 20" between the two beds. It is cozy - very comfortable but cozy. Black-out curtains on one window. KITCHEN :: Oak floors, original built-in china cabinet, morning light from two kitchen windows and deck, GE fridge (with the freezer on the bottom), stainless steel Bosch gas stove with convection oven, professional hood (always turn the hood fan on just before you start to cook to get the air moving up and out), confetti-colored Vetrazzo counters (90% recycled glass + 10% concrete), rolled-ash wood cabinets, deep double bowl stainless Elkay sink, single-handle Kohler faucet, Fisher-Paykel single drawer eco-dishwasher, huge 4 door accordian patio (lanai'i) doors open to the private deck and back yard below. This is a fully appointed kitchen: dishes, plates, silverware, cups, glasses - everyday and fancy, pots, pans, mixing bowls, baking and cooking gear, cloth napkins - everyday and fancy, some kids dishes. Variable morning basics - coffee, tea, sugar, oatmeal, sometimes other goodies. BATHROOM :: It is a tiny spa! Turkish marble floor with electric radiant heat, small Carrera marble sink, shower/tub combo with large shower head and a short deep tub for soaking (please note sides of tub are 23" tall), white subway tile and green glass mosaic insets, beadboard siding, fan, low flow toilet, two windows for lots of natural light. Great water pressure and endless hot water (from a European style, on-demand hot water heater) (but please conserve water!). BACK DECK :: Most is covered, a small part is open to the sky. Huge Hawai'ian-style lanai'i doors fold open between the kitchen and deck making it a wonderful indoor-outdoor space with my great-grandparent's wooden kitchen table, grandpa's reading lamp, and a small (modern) cafe table. It is great for warm weather entertaining, watching the rain, or those restful days when you just want to stare at the trees as they sway in the afternoon breeze. The south-facing deck is 160 square feet. If the weather is to your liking you may sleep on the back deck - drag a mattress or two and your duvets outside and enjoy the night air. It's terrific to sleep outdoors! LINENS :: All linens - sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers, towels - are 100% cotton. All bedding is 100% down/feather pillows & duvets. LIGHT :: There is diffused, natural light throughout the house, throughout the day, and throughout the year. There is at least a little bit of sunlight coming in some window every day of the year. Black-out shades are on most windows. THE YARDS :: The yards are casually, not formally, maintained. There are motion sensor lights for safety and security. The yard is home to plums (glorious blooms in February, fruit June 21), figs (ripe September 15), two modest lemon trees, jasmine, quince, roses, iris, rosemary, calla lillies, nasturtiums, agapanthus, spring bulbs, junior oak trees, native plants, a palm tree, a willow tree, friendly squirrels, and the landlady’s garden cottage. Sometimes between seasons the garden might look a bit scruffy. The yards are often used for various creative projects. Please consider it a working, wild, living garden, not a manicured, landscaped thing. You have a view of the back yard, but you will not have access to it. Sorry. It is the private domain of your host who lives here. HISTORY OF THE HOUSE:: Built as a single family home in 1906 by the locally-famous builder Charles "One Nail" MacGregor, it was turned into a duplex sometime in the early- to mid-20th century. Now it is 2 flats, one on the main floor, the subject of this listing, and one upstairs. Our street was named for MacGregor's son Leighton. The original building permits were pulled 3 weeks before the earthquake that destroyed San Francisco in 1906. THE HOUSE TODAY :: A century later, our 2006 renovation restored the house's original grace and beauty for which we won an award from the Oakland Heritage Alliance in 2007. The house and grounds have a certain Japanese aesthetic of "wabi sabi", a bit like a beautiful, working country house. There are often creative projects going on in the yards. Our charming old houses in this neighborhood are rather close together, so we do ask for quiet from 10pm to 8am. This is not a party house. However, this is not a cloister nor is it the suburbs - this is city living. We are close to everything! It's a great house in a great location.
THE NEIGHBORS :: We have a nice little neighborhood/community thing going with our neighbors. The neighbors are friendly, nice, quiet, interesting, cooperative, home-owning, responsible professionals. This is not a party neighborhood nor is it a party house. THE NEIGHBORHOOD:: We are on a great little cul-de-sac, hidden-in-plain-sight side-street with no through-traffic. We are 1 BLOCK TO PIEDMONT AVENUE with all its services: groceries, post office, banks, drug stores, library, movie theater, cafes, restaurants, yoga studios, medical offices, book stores, gift shops, pubs, ice cream parlors. Voted one of the best streets in the east bay. It is our sweet little "village". 17 BLOCKS to the PARAMOUNT THEATER, 1.2 miles. 21 BLOCKS to the FOX THEATER, 1.5 miles. Make sure to visit parts of GLEN ECHO CREEK that are above ground in 2 little parks just off Piedmont Avenue a few blocks away. MT. VIEW CEMETERY, 0.8 miles, is at the top of Piedmont Ave., a beautiful 226-acre cemetery initially designed by F.L. Olmstead who designed Central Park in New York city. There are INCREDIBLE VIEWS of the whole bay area from the top of the hill. I highly recommend a visit to it. It is 1 BLOCK TO KAISER HOSPITAL and about 6 blocks to Sutter/Alta Bates/Summit Hospitals. We are 17 easy blocks up Broadway from "Uptown" with the Paramount and Fox theaters as well as other entertainment venues. We are 30 easy blocks up Broadway from "Downtown" with city, county, state, and federal offices, Chinatown and Jack London Square. MacArthur BART train station is a 12 minute walk. It is 3.6 miles to the U.C. Berkeley campus, Sather Gate entrance. (Go Bears!)
  • There is a lot to love at Allysyn's home. First of all, Allysyn responded immediately to my request for a booking that was less than 24 hours in advance. She was gracious and welcoming even though she probably had to jump thru some hoops to prepare for us. She is smart, creative, down to earth and has a tasteful, yet comfortable, aesthetic. The space is so cozy and warm with big furniture, lots of pillows, and warm soft rugs. The bathroom is a spa. Really. The marble floors have radiant heat and the tub is short but about 3 feet deep. Plus, Allysyn makes delicious hemp soaps which just tops off the whole experience. The beds were comfortable. Each had down comforters, and pillows. One of the beds was organic cotton and wool which was perfect for my son as that is what he usually sleeps on. The kitchen is well equipped and beautiful with recycled glass countertops and a big table to gather around. Allysyn provided coffee, milk and fruit for us but if you want to eat something else the home is right around the corner from Piedmont Street where their are many great options for food, coffee, entertainment and shopping. Allysyn's home was the perfect place to regroup after spending the week hiking in Yosemite. After checking in we walked down Piedmont and ended up at a cafe with delightful music, coffee and great food. We all felt very nurtured and taken care of by Allysyn and her sweet space. Thanks for the soft spot to land.

  • A really accommodating host who will go out of her way to help you. The kitchen facilities are really good with a good size fridge, cooker, oven and dishwasher. The house it self is beautiful and generally clean with a warm feel to it. As the host lives downstairs, she was on hand to support us. There is also a washer and dryer outside which is hand. It has some good size beds separated by curtains which can be a little cozy but its a decently priced gem for a large group. Parking may be an issue sometimes as the property resides in a small cul de sac but the host will provided us with parking tokens. Oakland is a nice area and not too far from San Francisco.

  • Allysyn's is a wonderful hostess. Made us (EMAIL HIDDEN)fortable beds including the sofa bed. Quality linens, great kitchen to cook in. Make's you want to hang out and create. Great deep tub. A couple of folks with us have disabilities and the tub was hard to navigate the grab bar helped. Lots of places to hang out and relax. Charming. We would definitely stay with Allysyn again!

  • Lovely space, quiet, peaceful and clean. Attentionate and thoughtful host. Great communication. Great value.

  • What a great place. I almost don't want to give it the review it deserves because I am afraid it will be booked ALL of the time! Allyson is awesome and the place is wonderful. Lot's of space, great kitchen, perfect location for my needs. Can't say enough. This is one of my favorite Airbnbs yet - and that is saying something as I have stayed in lots of them! Thanks, Allyson for a wonderful stay.

    Laura2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Allysyn for your awesome hospitality and for having such a welcoming home. We loved all of the original elements in your home and all of your recommendations for making our stay that much better. We were walking distance from everything we needed and just a short drive to dog parks for our pup Magnum! Definitely recommend Allysyns place :)

  • We had great time at Allysyn's place. She was very welcoming and thoughtful with great hospitality. The place very close to piedmont ave where you can several restaurants, bars, grocery store and all kind of small local businesses. Thanks again Allysyn.

Clean and light-filled one bedroom apartment in KONO neighborhood. Less than a mile to BART (0.9 miles) and half a block to the bus, this centrally located apartment is perfect for commuting to downtown Oakland, Berkeley or San Francisco.
This 1906 Victorian home was renovated in 2011 and is split into three separate units. The available unit has beautiful wood floors and a full kitchen. The apartment can comfortably fit two people on a queen sized bed in the bedroom. A futon in the living room could sleep up to two more guests for an additional charge. Towels, sheets and bedding are provided. Parking is on the street. Out back we are experimenting with urban homesteading and have a large garden, chickens and occasionally turkeys! Don't worry, we have no roosters and it's very quiet inside the apartment. Adjacent to the house is the freeway and BART tracks but inside the apartment you do not hear anything. The house has double-pane windows and a gas heater.
The neighborhood is up and coming, situated between downtown Oakland and Berkeley. Within a few blocks are numerous restaurants, coffee shops with wi-fi, bars, a halal market, and public transportation. Downtown Oakland is a vibrant area with music, night life, delicious restaurants and a thriving art scene. We recommend Burma Superstar for dining and visiting the New Parkway Theater for watching particular movies in a comfy couch while being served food. Also Lane Splitter is fantastic for a good pizza and the Scottish pub down the street has amazing beers and a great lamb pie. Going west from the house is a little rough but east along Telegraph Ave is a great street all the way north to Berkeley and south to downtown Oakland.
  • This place was great. Jade was friendly and available when I first arrived to orient me to the space and answer any questions I had.

    Ryan Li2015-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • this place is great. Jade was very nice when checking me in and made a great recommendation for dinner. The place is very clean and feels very homey. Everything you need to feel at home is in the unit for you. The neighborhood is pretty much as advertised but there are many interesting places to eat between the Bart stop and the unit. I was able to walk to Bart every day in 10 minutes. I would definitely stay here again.

    Bill2015-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jade welcomed us and was so helpful.she was relaxed and showed us around. It is close to a great healthy spermarket and the Bart. We drove to all our places . Loved the house.

    Maureen2015-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • A very Good space. Jade and Joe are warm-hearted. They are young and pretty people and very helpful. I stayed there for 5 nights, it is very convenient to go to BART station, then to San Francisco or Berkeley. Nearby there are Korean supermarket and other good restaurants. I would like to stay this house for next visiting ago.

  • This was our third visit to this lovely apartment, which I think is probably the best review I can offer. It is bright, charming, and well-equipped. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen is perfect, and the living room spacious and airy. We will be back.

    Elizabeth2016-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay! Joe, Jade and Miguel let us drop our bags off early since we were going to be getting in in the morning. The apartment was comfortable and have everything we needed. Underneath the overpass was a little sketchy but nobody bothered us and we felt safe the whole time. Parking was sparse in the evening but we were able to park on street over. We would definitely stay here again.

    Bronte2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • So cozy! Bed was so comfy!

    Miriam2017-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had the pleasure of meeting Joe as I checked in to set up for a surprise birthday get-together and he was gracious enough to let me come in early! Jade was also responsive through text which was great and my boyfriend and his friends loved staying at the house. Easy parking and central to a lot of great food places, we had a wonderful time and was grateful that they opened their home for us. The house was very clean and equipped with techy amenities that allowed us to relax after a long day of exploring in the city. I would definitely recommend everybody to look into staying at this location if they want secure, homey, and central get-away for any occasion!

    Renovated Oakland Apartment
    171 reviews
Newly remodeled, beautiful, clean and comfortable 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment with hardwood floors, living room with two couches and a television, dining room and full kitchen in the very best area of Oakland's Grand Avenue, only 2 blocks from the City of Piedmont with all of its eclectic and fantastic shopping and food. No matter if you stay for a few days or few weeks, you will love the beauty and diversity this great city offers.
In addition to a queen bed in one bedroom and a full bed in the other bedroom, one living room sofa opens up into a full bed as well. Easily accommodates 6 adult-sized people.
Located near Lake Merritt with only a 5 minute walk to great restaurants, Starbucks, nail and barbershops, and eclectic shopping. We also have a farmer's market on the weekends. Only a 5 minute drive to FENTON'S CREAMERY, voted the "Best Ice Cream" in the Bay Area (and I think the best in the country)!
  • Clran and comfortable apartment in a cool neighborhood. Wessne came out quickly when we arrived late and were locked out by a neighbor who unexpectedly locked the front gate. Worked out fine. Access to the parking space is very tight and would be difficult for larger vehicles.

    Mark2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in the Lake Merritt neighborhood of Oakland, easy walk to restaurants, LakeShore, and the lake itself, and a short drive to downtown and uptown oakland. the apartment is newly remodeled and a nice place to stay. We would stay again, just wouldn't try to park in the back unless we were driving a small car.

    Cynthia2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home in a great area in Oakland! A walk away from Lake Merritt and near Downtown Oakland. The home was beautiful, looked as if it was just renovated!

  • Very clean well maintained apartment. Good value for money.

    Paramvir2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wessne's place was centrally located to a variety of restaurants that is within walking distance. The place was clean and exactly as the photos indicated. If you plan to stay with active children, it may be a little difficult because of the 9 pm quiet time house rules. The neighbors below are sensitive to the pitter patter of little feet and will let you know. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Thank you for sharing your home.

    Ann2017-05-15T00:00:00Z

Located in historic Old Oakland District. Nearby BART station, Marriott, Downtown, Convention Center, Jack London Square, Chinatown, Lake Merritt, City Hall, and many bars and coffee shops. 10-20+ mins drive to Oracle Arena, Fox Theater, Coliseum, and Bay Bridge to San Fran. Safe neighborhood, across the street from the Courthouse and Police Station. Easy to get on to the freeway. Numerous Restaurants nearby! You'll enjoy the convenient location, building and room aesthetic, and the comfy bed!
Very convenient location for people who drive, walk, or take public transportation! This modern minimalist private studio apartment has it's own private bathroom. Sliding mirror closets with plenty of space to hang clothes. Mini kitchenette area in the room with microwave, toaster, and sink. TV and wifi. Desk/work station. Located on the second floor of an apartment building in Old Oakland/Downtown. -public patio area also shared with others Included amenities provided on arrival plus keys -2 Towels per paid guest (1 small face towel and 1 large towel), tooth paste, shampoo/conditioner, soap, clean sheets/pillow cases, and hangers.
Our area is undergoing redevelopment, please excuse how the neighborhood looks temporarily now, it will look vastly different with lots of new businesses opening in newly renovated buildings in the upcoming year. Oakland is the second largest city in the San Francisco BAY AREA, and the eighth-largest city in California. With any major populated city there will be some trash, graffiti, and homeless people. Some guests may consider that terrible or undesirable. Please understand that those are things we cannot control. This is just how life is like in a big city. Rest assured with the police station across the street, this is as safe a place in Oakland as you can find. Please rate us fairly on accuracy of pictures, description of space and cleanliness of room and building, and not unfairly just on location as we have no control over that.
  • I cannot imaging a better place in Oakland.... extremely well located, with a cheap parking just by the side... Also, a great option for people who want to go to San Francisco because subway stations are a couple of blocks for the apartment and there is only 15 minutes from there to the city. So, you may get 2 for one: Oakland and SF and save a lot of money. Host is very kind and he always answer the messages in a second. I would totally stay there again!

    Rodrigo2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just as advertised-- small but very clean and in a good location. The actual street it is on is a little dodgy but as soon as you turn the corner there are shops and stores and good bars. Also great, easy overnight parking right next-door-- if it's full when you get there just wait until after business hours and it empties out. Alex was superduper easy to communicate with and accommodating.

    Tyler2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, remodeled and great location if you're staying in Oakland! Check in was easy and the bed was comfortable.

    Joseph2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely love Alex’s place. It is clean with newly renovated bathroom, quite spacious and right in the Oakland city centre. It is 5-6 mins walking to BART station which will take you to SF city centre in about 15-20 mins (only 4 stops). The neighbourhood is quiet and safe. Plenty of nice coffee shops, supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Alex is a great host. He went the extra mile to ensure our stay is a pleasant one. He provided all the essentials we needed to explore Oakland and San Francisco. He is a star.

    Fridiardi2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • I appreciated the cleanliness of the space and the ease of check in and check out. It is a small place, but it is laid out so well that we didn't feel cramped at all. We slept with the window open and no earplugs and we got a good night's rest. Location is perfect for short stays running around downtown Oakland and heading over to SF. Highly recommend. Thanks Alex!

    John2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Alex's place is in a great location to walk around downtown Oakland and pretty much anything you would need on vacation. Great food in China town, very inexpensive lyft rides to nearby parks and and short Bart trip to sf. The neighborhood is only a little noisy at night since it's right off the freeway. My bf and I had no issues checking in (he even let us check in early) since our plane landed at 8am. Made it to my appointment seamlessly and the rest of our stay was so relaxing. We will try and stay here again!

    Kelsey2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place exceeded our expectations. The room was clean and updated. The only negative is that the area is a little sketchy. However, it is only a few blocks away from the BART station so going to San Francisco every day was easy and fast. We would stay here again.

    Graham2017-07-31T00:00:00Z

  • Beautifully designed cottage, quiet neighborhood, close to shops and restaurants, wonderful!

    Emily2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • The host sent an email a few days before arrival with all the information I needed. It was a clean, cute space for my boyfriend and I to spend the night while we were exploring San Francisco during the day. My boyfriend commented wishing there was a TV but it was fine without one. The wifi was spotty but when it worked it was great! Plenty of street parking too.

    Ashley2016-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay here! The room is decorated well, well lit, and very clean. It has a modern feel to it that contrasts well with the beautiful wood ceiling and accents. The private entrance and ability to park in the driveway were much appreciated, as we felt more free to come and go than if we had to bother Sandy & Kristin by entering through the house. We caught a glimpse of the dogs, and they are adorable! Overall, I would recommend staying here to anyone, and I would love to come back sometime!

    Janel2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy's place is located in the Temescal neighborhood in Oakland. Great area with lots of eating places and close to a grocery if needed. The place doesn't have a kitchen, but we didn't really need one. Came to the Bay Area during the heatwave with temps up to 113 during the day. There was no a/c in the space, but there is a fan. My husband and I are pretty tolerant of warm areas but I can see how the lack of a/c can be an issue. Sandy also had a great garden that you can view from the room. Overall, I would definitely consider staying here again. The space is comfortable and gorgeous.

    Josephine2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very responsive hosts and good location. The room was small but nicely decorated and well equipped with organic soaps and beautiful, thick towels. The backyard was delightful and private. The room had a bit of a musty smell, but I think it was good value for the money.

Relax and unwind on the spacious first-floor unit of a bright Craftsman duplex. Enjoy the updated kitchen and fresh lemons from the tree in the backyard. On this quiet, tree-lined street, BART noise won't keep you up at night, but you'll still reach the station on foot in under 10 minutes. A quick walk takes you to convenient Rockridge shopping as well as hip bars and restaurants in Temescal.
Recently updated, my home features high ceilings, hardwood floors, plenty of windows and greenery, a front porch, and a lovely garden view. The kitchen is modern (except for the charming vintage stove) and well equipped. The decor reflects my frequent travels. While I do live here when I'm not hosting, I cultivate a clean and minimalist lifestyle to ensure my guests have plenty of space to call their own.
Rockridge's main drag, College Avenue, is right around the corner. You'll find cafes, restaurants (don't miss the Ramen Shop), grocery stores (Trader Joe's and the upscale Market Hall), yoga studios, and more. Also in walking distance, up-and-coming Temescal was recently featured in the New York Times (12/17/16). The Temescal Farmers Market is just down the street on Sunday mornings.
  • Taryn's place was magical. A very calm and quiet space. It was nicely decorated and very clean. The space was nice and big. Parking was a breeze. I would definitely stay here again myself or recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, quiet and safe place to stay in the Bay Area. Without a doubt 5 stars!

  • This is a great place to stay in the heart of Rockridge, one of Oakland's best neighborhoods. Within a very short walk to some of the best restaurants and coffee in the Bay Area, and close to BART as well. Lots of space, comfortable, and well-equipped. Hard to beat!

    Sean2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home with a great living space and a nice sunny backyard with lemons ! We easily felt at home there with our 2 kids.

    Thibault2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Taryn is a gracious host and her home is roomy, super clean, stylish and comfy. She communicates promptly, her home is safe and secure; it's also easy to check in, come and go, and find parking. Oakland is a great place to visit - for shopping, (everything from high end shoes and classy baby boutiques to thrift shops & conventional malls), eating (perfect pastry, perfect pizza, and a pop-up breakfast spot), and exploring (quaint houses, bold street art, an amazing public garden). Next time I visit the Bay Area (to see my daughter at school in SF) I will seek out the Lemon Tree.

    Sarah2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Taryn's place is great. Nestled about a 5-8 minute walk away from the Rockridge Bart, the home is located in a comfortable neighborhood of Oakland. It is well within touching distance of College Ave, where one can shop, eat, and drink well. Taryn helped coordinate my arrival and entrance by personally letting me into the place and providing clear instructions regarding her home. The home itself was well furnished, replete with a complete set of bedding, cooking, and cleaning materials. Her home is tidy and served as a great home base for my trip Oakland. I would recommend this Airbnb experience; it is well worth the price.

  • My stay at Adi’s house in Oakland was very pleasant, and Adi was very accommodating when I requested a same day booking. He met me in person, and did a walkthrough with me to make sure everything was in great condition (which it was). He was available and responsive to my questions, and maintained great communication. The house itself was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. If business brings me back to Oakland, I would be happy to stay there again.

    Zachary2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Adi is an amazing host. Responds to my messages right away and checks on us every day during our stay. His house is a great location if you're planning to tour around San Francisco, which is what my family did. Thanks Adi! We'all definitely be back.

  • George's place is a really choice. The place is clean and well furnished; the location is perfect for anyone interested in visiting the city and living in a safe area. I was able to check-in and check-out by myself which is really interesting especially when you don't cannot plan in advance. Besides, George was really welcoming and helpful when I met him. His instructions were clear and he was really easy to contact. I highly recommend this place to people interested in renting their own place in San Francisco for a few days.

    Nicolas2013-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • It's my first time traveling in US, and George was my first night host, he was kind, thoughtful and polite. My wife and I really enjoy the studio and the neighborhood around the Panhandle, if anybody plan to stay in George's house, I recommend you to have brunch at Grind Cafe which is a few blocks away. And if you are driving to Lyon street, it is impossible to park along the street, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) DMV Parking lot, park there and walk to George's studio. All in all, thank you George for hosting us, we really appreciated it:)

    Leo2013-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a few days here for our first family visit to SF. Apartment was ideal: central but peaceful, well stocked, close to public transport, and clean. Did all of the sites easily, almost all using SF's excellent public transport network. George was welcoming and focussed on making sure we had everything we needed. Recommended. Would stay here again if we're lucky enough to get back to SF.

    Colin2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • George is a great host who really cares about his guests, the place is very close to a nice large grocery store and Bi-Rite (amazing ice cream and upscale-convenience store) on the very happening Divisadero Street. You're about one block away from the gorgeous Panhandle Park and within 6 blocks of a Whole Foods and Golden Gate park. I would highly recommend this location if you want to explore San Francisco.

    Young-Jin2013-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful stay we have had in George's handsome studio apartment. Everything we needed was supplied, and the studio is tastefully furnished and decorated. The location is steps away from public transit in one direction and and steps away from the green space of the Panhandle in the opposite direction. We have appreciated how quiet and private the studio is in the evenings and have also enjoyed the patio for breakfast. Both my husband and I highly recommend a stay here. You won't be disappointed.

    Cynthia2015-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, walking distance to nearby shops at Haight and Ashbury. George is very on top of things in being thorough and communicative through your entire stay. Highly recommend his private getaway.

  • It's a very good location and the house is exactly as the description on the web. I would definitelly came back and recomended it

    Pía2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The space is the bottom level of a multi-level unit with a separate entrance. Pretty cozy and quiet. Business travel friendly. Ventilation could have been better. George is really nice to deal with. Overall the experience was awesome.

    Elegant Queen Ann Victorian
    265 reviews
One stop from SF, this quiet sunny room is located in the back of a large Victorian home, with windows overlooking the garden. At the heart of the Bay Area near West Oakland BART, ferries to San Francisco, and roads that lead to all points around the Bay Area. I live in the home, my young daughters part-time (although I don't host on nights they are here). See also https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16897679 for the full house.
The room is located upstairs near the full bath. (My bedroom and my daughters' are also upstairs.) Downstairs is kitchen, living room, dining room, half bath and laundry room. Kitchen includes coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, gas stove, frig, electric kettle. Other appliances (electric mixer, waffle maker) can be used by request.
My home is in West Oakland, which some have described as "gritty" and realtors describe as "up and coming." I've lived here 16 years and love it. There is a coffee shop 2 blocks up the street, plus 4 or 5 others within walking distance. One of our best local restaurants, Brown Sugar Kitchen, is a great 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive away.
  • I was in Oakland CA for 2 days on a business conference. The house is quite and very clean. Wasn't home much just to sleep. Only saw the host when I checked in. If your looking for a quite and clean place, I would definitely recommend.

    Gino2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great location with easy walking to the West Oakland Bart station. Food options are limited though since everything closes early and the neighborhood has some sketchy parts after sundown. Inside the house is very comfortable and I had a great stay! If you bring your own food it would be perfect!

    Tom2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica's home is clean and welcoming. She pays attention to the small touches, like fresh soap with your towels, and a shelf for your things in the bathroom (luxury!). Jessica herself is kind and lovely to talk with. The place is very convenient to the West Oakland BART station, which makes trips to San Francisco and downtown Oakland equally easy to visit. A beautiful stay!

    Caitlin2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica is very friendly. She was not staying at the location. There was another female in the house named Jaime. It was confusing because I did not know who this person was and she never introduced herself to me. She was on the phone most of the time. The alarm code they send you is not correct. Make sure to get the correct code otherwise the alarm is very LOUD and scary especially when you are in a new place. Otherwise the place was nice and clean enough. The neighborhood is a little iffy, but it is safe.

    Crystal2017-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful old house, good location (10 min walk to BART station), nice host, self check-in.

    Maria2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • 10 min walk to Bart station, in the evening also convenient by bus. Jessica is friendly and helpful.

    Xuedi2017-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica's place is very nice and easy to reach. There is a bart station very close to her place, 5 to 7 min walking depending on your pace, and from there is just one stop to get to san francisco.

    Ana 2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, near to BART station to reach all points in the Bay Area. Clean room! Jessica was quick to answer questions and had great communication. Would stay again!

Newly built, bright modern guest house with private access. Stay in our comfortable, clean casita. This lovely, light-filled space sits behind our home, in our sunny garden with fresh berries and lemons, with a large wood farm table for you to enjoy morning coffee. The studio has a small coffee + tea station, fridge, wifi, and sunny garden with outdoor couch, umbrella, and table. Our quiet street is 3 blocks from College Ave, full of great restaurants and shops, and close to BART.
Awash in natural light, this modern studio is set in our beautiful little backyard with a lemon tree, sunny garden, large wood farm table for eating meals in the garden, and a cozy space to rest at the end of your travels. This is a brand new, modern casita in our backyard with its own entrance. It is a beautiful, bright room behind our home. It has a little bar area with mini-fridge, tea/coffee bar (with a french press), sink... no stove. It has a modern, luxurious bathroom with radiant floor heating. The mattress is very comfortable (very firm and new), a menu of pillows (down and non-down) and wifi. We have traveled the world and stayed in many hotels, and have tried to make this room a 5-star hotel experience: white towels, fresh, new bed linens, white robes, down pillows, floor heat in the bathroom, locally-roasted coffee, and perhaps a few small chocolates! This space is professionally cleaned after each guest. It's an excellent location: four blocks from public transit, a neighborhood full of restaurants, cafes, and shops, quick access to BART and College Avenue. It's in between two trendy Oakland neighborhoods: Rockridge and Temescal, full of some of the highest-quality foodie establishments in the world. Despite being 4 blocks from BART and the freeway, we are far enough away from the crowds and traffic because our house is on a quiet residential street. The room has one queen bed and a private, modern bathroom. We provide a travel crib upon request and have had many guests stay with an infant or toddler. We offer complimentary locally-roasted coffee and teas and beer/wine. We provide standard provisions like clean towels and linens, hairdryer, etc. Our own washer/dryer can be made available to you (inside our house) if you coordinate with us. We have a nice backyard where you can enjoy your morning coffee, pick some fresh lemons, or just sit and lounge in the sun. Please note, the one down-side of this space is the SUNLIGHT! It is gorgeous and awash in natural light. However, if you are a light-sensitive sleeper, please consider staying elsewhere, as its bright in the morning. Another note, there is no TV.
Rockridge is a friendly, bustling neighborhood with plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants. Experience the true Oakland lifestyle in this diverse neighborhood. We are just a few minutes walk to College Avenue, Temescal alley, and are two miles from the UC Berkeley campus, and award-winning restaurants (Ramen Shop, Pizzaiolo, Juhu beach club, Wood Tavern, A16, Dona Tomas, Oliveto, A Cote, Camino, to name a few). We are close to UC Berkeley campus, too. It's in an excellent location, four blocks from public transit and College Avenue, full of restaurants, cafes, and shops. It's in between two trendy Oakland neighborhoods: Rockridge and Temescal.
  • Diana and Greg were fantastic hosts! Highly recommend their home in the heart of Temescal/Rockridge which has an abundance of restaurants, cafes, and other fun things to do. Very convenient parking on the street and Diana was always available to answer any questions.

    Shaz2015-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful and immaculate in-law suite was exactly what we needed in a pinch. Located within walking distance of the main drag in Rockridge, it was extremely convenient to grab dinner or jump on the freeway. The space itself is beautifully designed and extremely organized/clean. We had a peaceful few nights stay enjoying the comfortable bed and garden views. Diana & Greg were extremely welcoming and flexible. If you're looking for a no-stress, beautiful, and pleasant place to stay in an otherwise desert of options (Berkeley, Oakland) this is your place. Do note that wifi and cellular service can be spotty!

    Jennifer2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • What great hosts! I loved their beautiful place.....wonderful location with access to shops, dining and BART. The biggest selling feature of the place is, of course, Mia the adorable golden retriever. I miss her already!

    Ashley2014-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage in a great location in Rockridge! Fantastic for a single person or a couple looking to experience Rockridge, Temescal, or Berkeley like a local. Great design and super clean! Diana is fantastic and super responsive. 5 Stars!

    William2016-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Diana kept in touch prior to our arrival to make sure we had the necessary information about access to the unit. Our flight was delayed , we arrived about 1 a.m. and got in with no problem. The couch house aprtment was great. Newly built, like something out of Fine Homebuilding Magazine.

    Gerard2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming home and lovely family. The whole house is very clean and tastefully decorated. We immediately felt comfortable in our bedroom and there are many details that made the experience outstanding. Diana was very responsive to text and email which made for an easy booking process.

    Michael2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in the casita!

    Beth2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • My three night stay at Diana's was wonderful! The room and private bathroom is conveniently located on first floor of a lovely craftsman house. The bedroom is beautifully decorated and was a pleasure to come back to each evening. The bed and linens are of high quality and I slept soundly each night. The bathroom is totally renovated and is spa-like, with high ceilings, lots of marble, good lighting, and a glass-enclosed bathtub-shower. Everything was spotless. It felt like I was staying in a pricey boutique hotel. Diana was the perfect host -- friendly yet low-key, and she also graciously accommodated my last-minute booking. Mia the dog was a treat. I loved her welcome every time I came home. The location is centrally located a few blocks off the main drag in Rockridge, an easy walk to the BART station. I highly recommend Diana's place!

You’ll love my place because it is centrally located and convenient to many activities e.g., 5 minutes from the San Francisco Bay Bridge, 10 minutes from downtown San Francisco, 5 minutes from both downtown Berkeley and UC Berkeley, 8 minutes to downtown Oakland, close to Tilden Park (over 2000 acres of woodsy and hilly bike and hiking trails) and minutes from Lake Temescal. There is ample street parking directly in front of the home and a short walk to BART (4 exits to San Francisco).
Enjoy, this beautiful contemporary bedroom with a flat screen TV, a very comfortable queen sized bed, Wi-Fi, cable TV and comfy leather chair. Private bathroom with sink, toilet, shower and fresh towels. Access to a shared eat-in kitchen with complimentary fresh fruits. Relax in a comfortable family room with a 55" TV screen. Enjoy the sunny, plant-filled backyard patio.
This neighborhood is always quiet, clean and centrally located to many local attractions and all major transportation arteries, including public transportation (buses within a block; rapid transit BART w/in 10min walk); freeways to all directions w/in 5mins: and still a wonderfully calming location!
  • We booked the place because it was conveniently located from our friend's place who was showing us around and lived just 2 minutes away. It was a really good find. We weren't sure as to what time we'd get in since we had planned a long day trip in San Francisco and we asked him about late check in. He was extremely courteous and said that we could go whenever and just needed to keep in touch with him. We arrived even later than expected almost close to 1 AM but he was really cool with it, gave us a tour of the space and all the privacy we'd need. It was really homey and we would definitly stay here if we were to visit SF/Berkeley again. The neighborhood is pretty decent too since it's in Emeryville and not in Oakland lol. Very cute bedroom and private bath, very well maintained and I wish we actually got to spend more time there but we just need to spend the night.

  • Kahlil and his wife were friendly, but also gave my husband and I ample privacy while we stayed with them. Kahlil greeted me when I arrived and gave me a thorough introduction to the space- they even had a shelf in the fridge cleared off in case we needed it (which we did). A very kind couple and a comfortable home. The room was clean and neat, with a fun electric fireplace. The only issue we had was communication. There was a technical glitch and Kahlil did not receive some messages I had sent him with questions. However, once he got our messages, he responded promptly. Otherwise, we had no other issues during our stay. I highly recommend their space- it's a great deal for the location!

Newly remodeled 1 BR/1 BA, 600 sq ft private unit w separate entrance. The only living space on top floor. Great views, wireless, TV w local broadcast, minifridge, microwave, portable a/c unit, Keurig coffee maker, private patio, 2 queen size beds, and a couch that folds down into a futon.
This rental is for the entire upstairs floor of our 1952 Oakmore ranch style house. It has a separate entrance on the side of the home, and is located up one flight of stairs. The interior of the private unit is clean, uncluttered, and modern. There is a door frame, but no actual door between the sleeping quarters and the living quarters. Included within the unit are two queen sized beds. The one in the bedroom has a memory foam topper. There is an additional queen size bed in the living room next to a couch/futon that folds down into a bed. The beds are outfitted with 1500 thread count sheets, and the one in the bedroom has a down comforter. We provide clean linens, towels, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. We are a residential home and operate on a residential hot water heater. For that reason, we're best suited to host groups of 2. We also are equipped to host families consisting of 2 adults and 2 kids. We absolutely cannot host groups of more than 4.
Oakmore is a safe, peaceful residential neighborhood in Oakland. It is close to highway 13, making commuting easy. The house backs up to green space, and we often see deer running through the back of our property. The house is a very short drive to the restaurants and shops on Park Street, and in Montclair Village.
  • This was a beautiful stay out of SF and in the quaint and beautiful hills of Oakland. Beautiful views of the city as well as an abundance of trees outside our windows made it feel like a cozy and super clean treehouse bungalow. Would definitely love to stay here again next time I'm in the area/recommend it to friends. The pictures are accurate and my experience with this place was great!

  • We had a Wunderful stay at Christi's.. It was clean and huge.. We would definitely stay Here again. Its a little far from the City.. But just Take a Uber or Lift.. Its not that expensive :)

    Gitte Skov2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • I never actually got to meet Christi but she seemed very nice via email. If you want a quiet get away, this may not be the place for you since you can hear pretty much everything that goes on downstairs. You definitely need a car to get to this location and although there is a mini-fridge, don't bring your left-overs from dinner because there's no way to heat them up. Also, the TV is in a closet type thing so the doors won't open all the way, no choice but to sit on the couch if you want to watch anything. It's a beautiful, spacious unit with a lot of natural light.

    Angie2016-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay and the view was amazing!

    Valerie2016-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely perfect. Looked exactly like the pictures and very clean. The flat was very spacious so we have a lot of spaces to put our luggages. Christi was very supportive and provided all necessary information. The flat is a bit tricky to find so if you don't have your own transportation, I would not recommend. If you do have your own transportation, it's perfect. The view from the flat is awesome and we loved the trees. The neighborhood is very safe and calm, perfect place to relax. Oh they also have the microwave which is not mentioned in the facilities so you can heat some leftovers although we didn't expect so just had some fruits. We've never actually met Christi but she's so easy to contact. She responded to my e-mails very fast and her explanations were very accurate. It was my third reservation of Airbnb and the very first actual stay of Airbnb cause the previous hosts all just cancelled my reservationists without providing any explanations. I loved staying at Christi's and will definitely stay at hers again.

  • I want to start off by saying how wonderful Jordie is. She and Audrey were gracious hosts, gave excellent suggestions on places to eat, parts of the neighborhood to check out and more! The place is absolutely amazing. It's comfortable, the decor is spectacular, the garden in the back has a very zen quality, and it's only a few blocks away from the Macarthur BART. I was even greeted with some local chocolate and Jordie accommodated me checking in a little early. Temescal is a lively neighborhood and Rockridge is a short walk away. Great location, great hosts, you can't go wrong. I hope to come back on my next trip to the Bay Area.

  • We had a great extended stay here! Jordie was a helpful and accessible host, and had great suggestions for exploring the neighborhood, and tips for us as we looked for a permanent place. The backyard dogs were a delightful bonus, and the garden is a truly beautiful place to spend time and relax!

    Mischa2016-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We lived the updated and well equipped accommodations. It was very comfortable for all of us. We loved being within walking distance to many great restaurants and BART. Jordie was so pleasant and it was a pleasure to stay.

  • I would recommend Jordie's apartment to anyone and everyone looking for a quiet, memorable and charming AirBnb. It's pretty much all been said already but not only is this the home I wish I could call my own but if Jordie ever loses her day job she surely has one in hospitatlity. She's responsive, reliable and puts the guest's experience before anything. Evidence lies in the details and this apartment is the truth. And maybe to your suprise, no, Jordie did not bribe me to write this review, my experience was just that great!

    Ryan2014-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying with Jordie and Audrey! The place instantly felt like home and had everything we needed. The deck was gorgeous and a great spot to enjoy the afternoon sun. Jordie and Audrey were so friendly and they have the have cute dogs to visit with. We stayed with them while looking for a rental in the area, and having a calm, spotless, and cozy place to come back to after stressful days of (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) hunting really helped our sanity! We are thrilled to be neighbors with them once we move to the area and will definitely recommend the spot to those visiting Oakland.

Gorgeous Historic Victorian property with a location where convenience is second to none. You'll be steps from BART, nightlife, restaurants, etc. most downtown living is in a condo or high rise, this is one of very few actual homes left in downtown that has survived earthquakes, fires and major development. You'll be staying in the rear where you'll enjoy private access, a landscaped patio, views of the city hall clock tower which lights up at night, although you are staying in a historic property- it has every modern feature and functionality. The couch is actually a full size futon which can be used for sleeping.
The location has a big upside. It's right in Downtown Oakland and the price is a good value compared to nearby hotels. 5 minute walk from the BART, 10-15 minute walk from Uptown, Old Town, Chinatown, and Jack London Square. There's a ton to do close by. The Good Walk 5 minutes to BART station and you’ll be a 15 minute ride away from San Francisco. You can actually get BART at the SF airport, and end up 5 minutes walking from our front door. During the day you’ll enjoy the hustle and bustle the working crowd heading into the City, State and Federal buildings. Thanks to these major municipals building there are tons of coffee shops and great lunch spots within 5 minutes walking (Starbucks, Peets Coffee, Jamba Juice, Bagel Street Café to name a few). There is also a corner store on the same street that literally has everything. At night you’re 5 – 10 minutes walking or a $6 UBER/ LYFT away from bars, restaurants, music and art venues of Uptown, Downtown, Oldtown, & Jack London Square. The Bad This is a downtown urban area, lots of noise associated with it, buses, cars, a busy fire station within 2 blocks. Properties are built on zero lot lines so you'll hear the neighbors in the building to the rear on their patio at night and early morning, sometimes all night. You'll also see bums hanging around as this is downtown, they're harmless but unsightly and often loud as they argue amongst themselves. If you're a light sleeper, this is NOT the place for you. No guest has EVER been mugged, harmed, car broken into etc. The 23-30 year old demographic usually love this building and area. If you're older than that, there is probably just too much excitement around here for you to enjoy your stay. There are half million dollar condo’s right across the street, and they've paid lots of money despite these bums sitting on their doorsteps and being loud all hours of the day and night. The Downtown Marriott is 5 blocks away, triple the price, and you’ll deal with the same issues. The state building, federal building, and City of Oakland offices and City Hall, are directly across the street, the majority of people with a government jobs in Oakland have adjusted to the everyday occurrences with the neighborhood. This location has a huge upside however there is a trade off, you either want to be close to BART in the heart of Downtown and are willing to stomach this, or you don’t.
  • We found it in an interesting spot and accessible to a lot of parts of oakland. The place was really nice and Brittney was sweet and helpful. Also forgiving when we accidently took the keys...We recommend hitting up Shandongs the homemade noodle chinese restaurant.

    Jade2015-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, plenty of room and very clean. Easy access to San Francisco via BART. Highly recommend!

    Reed2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Brittney's place was a truly pleasant experience. The apartment is clean and looks exactly like in the pictures, from the bed to small things like soaps. Kitchen and shower also have everything you need. It easily accommodates 3-4 people. Brittney was always easy to contact and she fixed our little problem with wifi very quickly. The only “sketchy” part was the area, because you indeed hear people hanging around and arguing right outside of the house all the time. In addition, the parking lot next to the house is kind of dirty. But honestly, as the place is still safe, you get used to it, so don’t rely on your first impression too much.

    Olga2015-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Brittney was a great host, super responsive. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely consider staying at her place again.

    Newton2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The listing was accurate and the noise was only really noticeable on one night. Brittney was quick to respond to a question I had about the wifi and the location was very close to a lot of Oaklands great features. great spot.

    Michael2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • You know, not ever having met the owners of this property, I struggle with writing this review. To the point of many others who have stayed at this property, it is flawless. Very clean, beautifully appointed and in any other place it would be an elegantly magical experience. But the area is really bad. It's smack in the middle of a really depressed area, and for me to say that as someone born and raised near the Bronx NY, that is saying something. I tried so hard not to complain but I had to text the person who the renter put in charge of communicating because the guys in this hood were up at all hours smoking and drinking and coughing and talking and playing music... the first two nights I barely slept because it happens right outside the bedroom windows. I finally had to take the comforter and pillows into the living room, shut the bedroom door and sleep on the sofa on my remaining nights. Now that I have experienced how expensive San Francisco is as a city, it's quite clear to me why the price point for this property is so advantageous... you are captive to the surroundings when you are in the space and that's what brings down the very beautiful experience this could have been.

    Anthony2015-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very centrally located, and a quick walk to some great areas.

    Adrian2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay. Brittney was very helpful with everything, including the parking situation. The place was very clean and tidy. It was a bit noisy in the morning but that was expected. It was also very close to the BART which was great since we went to downtown SF quite often. Only complaint we had was that the couch was a little soft and uncomfortable, otherwise everything was fine and we would stay on a return trip for sure.

  • The apartment was exactly as advertised. It's very conveniently located. Only a short walk to the BART, ferry terminal or Amtrak station as well as some pretty good restaurants. It's clean, modern and very quiet. The host, Regina was really accommodating and welcoming. I only got to meet her briefly because of my own hectic itinerary, but I could tell she's pretty cool. I would definitely recommend staying here and would absolutely consider staying here again should I ever plan a trip back to the Bay Area.

    Meredith2014-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a comfortable and easy stay in Regina's beautiful home. The place is bi-level, with the private guest room and bathroom on the first level. The place was gorgeous, very clean, and provided a quiet/peaceful environment. The room itself was quite comfortable, and the bathroom had all the amenities we needed. My partner and I were very busy, but we did get a chance to interact with Regina who was very friendly and had some great tips about what to do in the area. She was also very communicative about logistics over text, and accommodating-she noticed we needed water and left us bottled water in the fridge. If I'm back in the area I would definitely stay here. It's also a convenient location, both for SF and Oakland exploring, as it's an easy walk to the BART.

    Sascha2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay with Regina. She was very welcoming and helped us identify good places to eat and visit in the area. Her home is very comfortable and centrally located. We would love to stay with her again in the future.

    Charlotte2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent time staying with Regina in Oakland. The condominium was clean, open, and getting in/out was easy. It was a safe neighborhood with easy parking. 10 minute walk to the BART. There was a bit less space than we expected - really just a bedroom and bathroom attached. For the purposes of a place to sleep while exploring the Bay Area, it was just right.

    Michael2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Regina is nice and friendly. It's so lucky to stay in her house. The room is clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend Regina's place.

    萬泉2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with Regina was lovely. As a great host, she spotlessly cleaned the entire home, arranged meetup times, and took time to orient me to the space and the neighborhood. She also provided plenty of space in the fridge. Her apartment is lovely. The living room is filled with light, thanks to the lofted ceiling and loads of windows. The bedroom is well equipped with a nice desk, large window, and lots of lighting options. The private desk setup enabled me to be very productive. The apartment is very quiet, despite being so close to the hustle and bustle of downtown Oakland. I look forward to visiting again.

    Francis2013-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Regina's was very pleasant. We were only there to sleep and shower mostly, but she was very hospitable and gave us our privacy. The condo and neighborhood were very quiet, convenient to the freeway and we never had trouble with street parking since we had a rental car. Overall, it was a great stay - she even remembered it was my boyfriend's birthday weekend! Thanks, Regina.

    Marina2014-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment right in the heart of Oakland. Because the bedroom and bathroom are right when you walk in, it almost feels like you have your own place. Regina was very welcoming. Thanks!

  • Don's place is great! Well-designed, yet comfortable and sparkling clean. I didn't have a chance to enjoy it due to work, but there is also a great outdoor space available for use. The neighborhood is lovely, but the home is on a steep hill, so know that if you will be doing any walking around. As a host, Don was personable, inviting and responsive to questions. There were many amenities and the kitchen was well-equipped. I only wish I could have stayed longer and had a loved one to share the space with. I highly recommend this place if you are in the Bay Area.

    Shawanna2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Don's place is incredibly clean and comfortable. Access to the backyard and grill was a nice plus. Location is perfect and quiet. Definitely look forward to returning.

  • Don's place was perfect and he was always available. Very clean and comfortable. Near the action in the Lake Merritt area/Grand Ave. I would highly recommend his condo for a great stay in the Bay Area!

  • My husband and I had a great stay at Dons place. It's really clean, beautiful outdoor space and Don was very generous with communicating. We really liked the neighborhood although it's not right off the BART we had an easy time finding great food and sites nearby. Would definitely stay again.

    Sam2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Don's place was great. Definitely better than staying at a hotel. We loved the location. It was clean and hip with a homey urban feel. I dont like to travel with alot of luggage so the washer and dryer, which was fairly new, was an unexpexted perk! We would definetly stay there again.

    Joy2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful condo! Perfect size great location, very clean. Don was a very detailed host, without getting in the way I would definitely stay again.

    Christina2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this spot for my parents on their visit. They had a really comfortable stay. Don was very communicative and made the check-in process a breeze. The place was clean, towels/bedding were great quality (I always notice this), nice amenities and a deck/bbq in the back! The location was amazing, just a few minutes from Trader Joes, Saturda Farmers Market, restaurants, coffee shops and the lake. Couldn't have asked for a better spot!

    Anabel2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This home is located in a great neighborhood, close to many restaurants and shops. It was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Don was a perfect host, extremely helpful and responsive. We'd love to come back and stay here again.

Located on the second floor of a gorgeous 1926 craftsman with Spanish influence, the apartment has many original features including hardwood floors, glass hardware, and a secluded backyard. Clean, private, and spacious to make the space your own.
A beautiful, sunny, upstairs 1 bedroom apartment in the heart of the thriving Temescal District. The apartment has two separate spaces for sleeping. The back bedroom is a cozy nook with a custom memory foam mattress (76"Lx60"W). The living room has another queen bed. Thick curtains can be drawn to create a separate private space.
Temescal is a central and dynamic, fun and safe, quiet neighborhood close to everything! Walk to fantastic local shops, restaurants, and farmer's markets.
  • We stayed st Michelle's apartment for 4 nights in March. Communicating w/Michelle was easy. She was prompt in responding and answering questions. The place was great for 3 of us. We were welcomed w/fruit, granola bars, water bottles, a nice note, maps, and info about the neighborhood. We found great places nearby to eat (Beauty's Bagels, Burma Superstar), and the location was perfect for visiting family in Oakland and getting into San Francisco to explore. Very convenient to BART. Comfy beds, nice to come home to. Thx Michelle!

    Amy2015-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle apartment was what we expected and more. Placed in a quite neighbor 10 minutes walk to the bart station. Altought the neighbor is good. If you walk in the wrong direction 6 blocks it seems more dangerous. Michelle was a great host we had a small issue with the internet and she fixed it in less than 5 minutes. The kitchen has everything in case you want to cook. In summarry its a great place i would stay again!

    Marcelo2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place was incredible. I stayed for 2 weeks with my girlfriend while we looked for a permanent apartment. The place has a ton of soul and feels like a home, unlike some airbnbs that have cheap furniture and few amenities. The location was ideal. A 10 minutes walk to the Bart. A few blocks away from the main Street with shops and restaurants. I loved staying here and would 1000% stay here again.

    Colin2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle was very welcoming, greeting me upon arrival. She was easily accessible via txt message throughout my stay. She provided my friends and me with local restaurant/bar recommendations and left a map of the area. The apartment was very clean. I am extremely sensitive to environmental allergens (e.g. pet dander, mold, dust) and did not experience any allergies in her apartment. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen and bathroom were immaculate.

    Katie2015-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle's apartment had ample space, was in good shape, nicely appointed in every room, and located near good shops. Michelle went out of her way to be accommodating. She's really great...and also responsible for the interesting landscaping in front of the house.

    Chris2016-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • MIchelle is a fantastic host. She was very responsive with all communications and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She even offered to mail something to me that I left behind. We ran into her doing yard work one day, and enjoyed meeting her - just a sweet person. The apartment is very centrally located in Temescal - walking distance to an excellent coffee shop (Subrosa), many great restaurants (Burma Superstar, Pizziaola, Beauty Bagels, Cholita Linda, Homestead, Dona Thomas), and the Sunday farmer's market. You can get the true Temescal experience staying here and enjoy all the fine food that the East Bay has to offer. With all this available, there is really no need to cook meals, but you can certainly prepare breakfast and lunch and simple dinners in the apartment's kitchen. Although the apartment is on the smaller side, it is surprisingly spacious feeling and very quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    Carol2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time, gave me a real feel for life in Berkeley. Short drive to the University hub. Michelle was easily accessible and helpful.

Large, quiet and very private upstairs room with a queen-sized bed and convertible futon couch. Two shared bathrooms. Great location near Bart/freeways. Safe street. Our home is filled with ethnic, Sacred, kinky and erotic art. Eco- friendly. We welcome all orientations and genders! Namaste, Blessed Be!
This large rustic room is unique, check out the photos. It gets nice morning sun and is very quiet. We have a large collection of erotic and ethnic art, people tell us our house is like a museum. It's a big, 100 year old house and we have done everything we can think of to make it enjoyable for you. The Queen bed is comfortable and the futon couch makes up to be a full sized bed. The room has it's own sink and small balcony. The house has two shared bathrooms. We welcome diverse lifestyles.
This is a safe quiet neighborhood in a great location. Over 100 restaurants are within a 2 mile radius, Korean, Ethiopian, sushi, pizza, Mexican, everything from fast food to Michelin stared. Vibrant Hipster and arty part of Oakland with a high walking score. Oakland is an interesting urban environment, with it's share of the homeless, this can feel uncomfortable for some people however we have lived here 15 years and love it. Our street has always been safe. Easy parking, free and unrestricted, except for twice monthly street cleaning. One Street over, on 42nd parking is restricted to two hours. The whole Bay Area is accessible from here! There are yoga, dance and Pilates studios nearby as well exciting murals and street art. Our house is just 4 blocks from Bart (subway) you can be in downtown San Fransisco in twenty minutes, downtown Oakland or Berkeley in ten minutes. The Wine Country (Napa and Sonoma) the Redwoods, Silicon Valley are all accessible day trips.
  • The place is very cozy. The hosts are really friendly and forthcoming. Because of the explicit Artwork you shouldn't come here with kids.

    Jakob2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great location near train and lively Temescal neighborhood. There were a bunch of people in a fairly small space as there are Three bedrooms for guests, plus her caretaker. Bedroom and bathrooms were clean however there were ants on kitchen counters. Shower in upstairs bathroom was very nice, as advertised. Washer and dryer was very useful. Hot tub was lukewarm and not clean.

  • I've stayed at Soleil and Dragon's many times before, but this was my first time in this particular room. I think it's my new favorite! Comfortable and unique and overall a great experience. Always a pleasure to stay with them.

    Tim2017-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Soleil's home is an ecclectic peice of art! The entry way makes for a perfect welcome to Oakland. The location is safe and central. The kitchen is equipped with the basics, but I would prepare if you want to cook your own food. There's two full bathrooms as well. The bedroom itself is beautiful. It's truly an experience! The plants in the rafters, the art, the books, and the low lighting all create a magical energy. This room has one door, and one open doorway out to a short hallway. It felt private but noise could potentially travel. We loved our stay and I am planning on coming back!

  • What a unique experience! What I love most about Airbnb is the opportunity to live like a local. The Artists' Hideaway is like spending the night in an erotic art exhibit, but even better... it actually is an Artists' home. The collection of the absurd fills every corner for the curious to explore and appreciate. The space was very comfortable and I loved the little back porch from the room looking over the back patio area. The perfect setting for having a drink and enjoying a relaxing afternoon. We were treated by Grin and he was kind enough to chat with us about festival culture. I also got to meet Soleil on my way out... I wish I would have had longer to get to know her more. We had a lot of privacy and quiet in the house, otherwise. This place is perfect for liberals, artists and friendly travelers!

You'll get a true Oakland neighborhood feel when staying here in our studio apartment. It's on the top floor of a single family residence. Located on a quiet street in a true working class neighborhood. Located just a block away from a local favorite hole-in-the-wall neighborhood Thai/Laotian restaurant Vientian Restaurant.
This is a sunny top floor studio apartment located on a quiet street where parking is on street and is free and easy. Pay attention to street sweeping signs :) The studio apartment is about 450-500 square feet. The living room, bedroom, and desk/eating space are all in one room. There is a sofa that folds out to a queen bed and a real queen bed in the living room. The kitchen is a good size for cooking up small meals. There is a small nook the the kitchen that has a small sofa that folds out into a twin bed (decent for short term sleeping). There is a full sized bathroom with a shower over tub. The space is perfect for someone seeking an alternative to staying in a hotel. This would be fantastic location for a travel nurse, single person, business traveler, or couples. This is great for the budget friendly traveler.
This studio apartment is in the Allendale District. This location is in the flat lands of East Oakland. We'd only recommend booking if you have a car as this location is car-centric. The surrounding area is still urban so we recommend being city-savvy if looking to stay here (ie, don't leave valuables in car, pay attention to your surroundings). This is a working class neighborhood. There are lots of Oakland school teachers, old time Oakland residents, new Oakland transplants, and large South East Asian and Hispanic communities in this area. So as you can see, a widely diverse community.
  • Great spot, safe neighborhood, not hard to get to BART. Easy code-based check-in so no hassle at all. Would stay there again if I'm back in the area.

    Younane2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy cozy studio and really easy to follow and accurate check-in details. Although there are lots of cars on the streets, I never had a hard time finding parking even when coming back after 8:30 pm. Floors do creak a lot so I feel bad for whoever lives downstairs. The kitchen has enough pots/pans for you to cook with but bring your own cooking oil or spray. There's a Brita water filter in the fridge which makes it nice.

    Lily2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as it appears in the pictures. Not a bad places to stay - but be aware it's kinda far away from most amenities. If you have your own vehicle or don't mind ubering everywhere then no drama.

  • This is a lovely private brightly lit the space in a quiet neighbourhood. It's nice to have your own door, a decent kitchen and plenty of natural daylight. It's a bit of a walk to the Bart, but with Uber you can go everywhere very easily and as a low-cost. it's a bit of a walk to the BART, but with Uber you can go anywhere very easily and a low cost.

  • Thank you Jennifer I enjoyed my stay! I booked a six night stay at Jennifer's studio and I would definitely recommend. Its minutes away from Hwy 580, travel time to San Francisco varies (depending the time of day) 30-mins to 1hr 20mins. The neighborhood was quite during the day and night which is a plus for me, I was also always able to find street parking at all times. Jennifer's place was clean and had all the essentials for my stay. Food Trucks and Store-Markets are minutes away if driving, if walking distance would be 25-30 minutes. Jennifer did great in communicating and making sure I was having a pleasant stay, there was not enough blankets for 4 people and Jennifer right away brought an extra blanket the next day when requested. Note: the Living Room light switch does not work properly, you have to hold the light switch in place for the light to stay on (I notified Jennifer and she is getting in contact with the landlord) there are plenty of lamps so I was fine, just in the Living Room/Bedroom there's 3 lamps, during the day there is plenty of natural light that comes in when having the blinds open.

  • Suellens place was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. She is not only the best Airbnb host we've had, but one of the best hospitality experiences ever! Everything was as described, there was space for our own groceries in the kitchen which was awesome. Our cooked breakfast every morning was also fantastic! Would definitely recommend the secret garden hideaway, and would also recommend guests spend time getting to know the lovely Suellen!

  • Hello~~ Suellon !! i.m Thomas ^^ I was lucky to meet you on the first trip to America. pickup at the subway station and treated him for breakfast.Thank you so much again. ! • Suellen was lovely. She allowed us to check in early and told us all the good places to visit. And she also made us breakfast everyday. This is my third time using air bnb, and by far the best. If I ever come back to Bay Area , I will definitely stay there again.

    kc2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay with Suellen and I was just as comfortable and at home as the first stay. Suellen is a gentle, warm soul and makes you feel at home.

    Ashley2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great and a pleasant experience.

  • Suellen is such a gen of a human being. We felt so incredibly at home in her space. It felt like we were visiting a friend that we'd known our entire lives. Such a beautiful soul, with inspiring stories to tell about her life and everything. If you are a musician and have an instrument to play, suellen is a cellist who has such an interesting background and relationship with music and she loves to jam with other musicians for sure! It was such a treat for us to play music together! Breakfast every morning was a part of the day that my fiancé and I looked forward to every single day that we spent there. If available, we will always stay with Suellen when visiting the Bay Area!

    Kirabelle2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Suellen's house epitomizes the overused descriptor 'charming.' It's tastefully decorated, exudes comfort, and is the perfect size for 2-3 people (including Suellen). The room has enough space for two to do the dance of getting ready in the morning, and the bathroom is perfectly adequate. Put simply, the overall experience makes you believe in those slick Airbnb commercials. As a host, Suellen is more than I could have asked for. She stayed up till the wee hours of the morning to check us in and was smooth sailing from that point on. In short, Suellen hits the perfect balance of helpfulness and distance as a host.

Welcome to my new location in Oakland! This large 1 bedroom/1 bath is located in a charming 4plex within walking distance of Piedmont Ave, shops, restaurants, movie theaters, cafés, and grocery stores. Conveniently close to transportation, (Bart, bus lines) Emeryville, UC Berkeley, and a short BART to SF.
  • This one bedroom apartment was close to a lot of great areas. It has a light-filled living room, sparsely furnished. The kitchen was small but has the requisite stove, refridgerator plus coffee maker and Keurig machine. The bathroom is on the small side easier for on person at a time. The bedroom is a good size with closet and good light. Bed was nice and firm. Window treatments can be a little hard to control. We found the apartment to be a little cool. Fortunately, there was a small space heater we could turn on and leave on awhile to take the edge off.

  • Ali is a great host. He's highly responsive and keeps his word; we agreed on a price and when we couldn't get the system to compute said price. I paid higher price and Ali left the difference (between agreed and system price) for me in the apt. The apt. is just as it looks in the pictures (except when I was in town it wasn't nearly as sunny). I had no issues. The apt is close to Piedmont and across the street from a great little coffee shop. Highly recommend the space and renting from Ali.

    Tracey2015-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient; not fancy but clean, functional, and well-equipped; super comfortable bed; easy access thanks to Ali's quick correspondence. Altogether a straightforward and successful airbnb experience.

    Virginia2015-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived earlier than expected but Ali gave us some great suggestions of stuff to do in the area while we waited! We were able to drop our bags off upon our arrival and the place was fabulous when we arrived!

    Jill2016-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Ali was great and accommodating. Would stay again.

    Frank2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is in a building with 3 other full time residents, it was quiet and we never saw any of the other residents except upon our arrival. Parking was easy though we had to be sure to move our car by 10 am. or it would be ticketed. Great neighborhood restaurants around the corner or up the hill in the Piedmont district.

    Nancy2016-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • The communication with Ali was great - he was very responsive in a timely manner. The rental was accurately portrayed in the photos and was quite comfortable for our needs. The location was great - a little noisy being close to Broadway but nothing that was really bothersome. It was walking distance to Piedmont Ave. - a wonderful street with shops & cafes! Parking was not a problem - we were always able to find a spot to park either on 41st or on a nearby cross street which was very convenient!

    Sally2014-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Ali's apartment. It is near many restaurants, coffee joints, and shops. Near to Bart as well. Apartment was clean and comfortable. Ali was easy to communicate with and was very flexible with checkin and checkout. Highly recommend.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BRIGHTEST ROOMS IN THE HOUSE. IT HAS A LARGE WINDOW AND VERY QUIET . THE ROOM IS NEXT TO THE BATHROOM WHICH IS SHARED WITH ONE OTHER ROOM.
THIS SPACE HAS HIGH SPEED INTERNET AND A DESK AND CHAIR. PERFECT FOR TWO PEOPLE AS ON BED IS A SINGLE AND THE OTHER BED IS A DOUBLE
THE HOUSE IS IN A QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD . MOST NEIGHBORS ARE HOME OWNERS
  • I wish I could say you are getting what you paid for, but you're really not, it took 45 mins to get in the house, and Charlotte nor her husband were at the door to greet us after we had let them know what time we would be there 2 hours prior. It also took 10 tries of calling her for her to answer, so the communication was horrible, and entering the house. Also made us late for the Kendrick Lamar concert who wants to be late to greatness? Not me that's For sure especially after the money I paid for those tickets. Professionalism could have been a lot better.

    CJ2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Charlotte is great. It was my best experience thus far.

    Barbara2017-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • The place was super nice and clean. The bed was comfy and they also washed my sheets when I was out which was extra nice. 7 minutes walk to the train so that's super convenient as well.

    Alex2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Good for staying for few nights. Host is friendly.

    John Youngseok2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, easy checkin, comfy room, overall solid experience, with stay again.

    Juan2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Good value

    David2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Good for the price. Location was 10 min walk to the BART so easy to get into downtown SF. No AC or screen on the window so either the room gets very hot/uncomfortable or mosquitos get in. Other than that, everything was satisfactory.

    Rebecca2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The room was very basic, exactly what I expected for the cost. The room had two beds as described. The carpet was new and prevented the door from closing easily. The bathroom was a decent size, but there was hair all over the tub when we arrived. Probably from another guest, there are several rooms on this listing. Overall, if you are looking for a room, in a quiet area, and with very little interference from hosts this is perfect. Plus I appreciated the late check in. But it is not fancy, it is literally the perfect space for someone who will be in the city all day, and just needs a place to sleep at night.
