Vacation Rentals in Nubeena

Just booked in Nubeena

An original Tasmanian fishing shack, my lovely home features stunning views directly overlooking Little Norfolk Bay, 3 bedrooms, and a wood fire. Just 10 mins to Port Arthur, and 45 mins from the airport, my home has super fast WIFI, local artwork from Australian artists, and many good vibes! Pack some fire wood and a bottle of red, and get ready to explore the South East.
Welcome to my shack. Within an hour drive of Hobart, the house is the perfect weekend getaway. It is an old house with plenty of charm and decorated with love. If you want 5 star, this is not it! The shack has lots of natural light, is beautifully decorated and tidy. It can get cold in the winter, but we have a wood fire, heater and plenty of blankets. There are 3 bedrooms; 2 very comfy double beds and one sofa bed (a king single or small double) for extra guests, plus with a large desk, with fast WIFI.
The house is located on Arthur Hwy, with Little North Bay directly opposite, giving amazing water views and ease of finding the house. Things to do on the Tasman Peninsula: Nature - Pirate Bay lookout (before you get to Eaglehawk Neck from Hobart), the far end of White Beach is really pretty or drive out to Lime Bay (dirt road). If you want to see some Tasmania devils, there is the Unzoo a couple of minutes from the house. Active - there's a ton of hikes locally: Waterfall Bay (easy), Cape Huay, Shipstern Bluff (3 hours), The Lanterns, Fortescue Bay (4 hours worth it!), the 3 Capes just opened - looks amazing! History - If history is more your thing, Port Arthur convict settlement run amazing tours and is only 10km south of the house. Recommend the boat tour, and taking most of the day to explore. Also near Lime Bay is the Coal Mines, a nice walk if the weather is good. Food - Eat yummy fresh food; cherries (just south of Sorell is cherry farms, stop and grab some for the ride. The A9 heads south and is a beautiful drive), cray rolls (in Dunalley stop at the general store on Booth St and grab fresh cray rolls for lunch, yum. There's a viewing pull out over looking Dunalley Bay when you leave Dunalley - the sand ridges and turquoise water are beautiful), oysters (on the deck with a cold chardonnay), amazing locally made chutney, pickled fruit, quince (Nubenna op shop open Tues 10-3, Fri 10-3, Sat 10-1), fish and chips (Eaglehawk Neck near the pier, open late Sept - late May) Shopping - Op shopping is great in rural areas; Salvos (Station Lane, Sorell), Vinnies (Sorell), antiques at Murdunna (tiny old Post Office converted into a treasure trove of goodies), Nubenna (behind the petrol station, by the tennis courts), Dunalley (behind the community centre). Chill at the house - cheese platter on the deck, red wine by the fire, board games galore, read a book, and make sure you walk down to the jetty with some blankets and check out the stars… Hobart: MONA for the day (you can drive (easy), hire bikes (hard), or get the MONA ferry (fun - but an extra $20 on your ticket price), Tasmanian Muséum and Art Gallery is worth the trip, book an adorable and individual room at the gorgeous Hotel Alabama run by Kelly and Aeron in town, Mt Wellington for views, Criterion Street Cafe for breakie, or coffee at Betsys on Argyle st and say g'day to Charlie the owner. Extra time: Coles Bay, Strathgordon, Bay of Fires, Cradle Mountain, Trainee National Park, Bruny Island, Launceston gorge, The Apple Shed (best cider in Tasmania, and yummy cheese platters) plus great drives. *Please start your message with HOLA FRANKIE so I know you've read this!*
  • Lovely place! Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to meet Frankie but we truly enjoyed her beach shack. It is a welcoming space and clean/bright decor. We enjoyed an evening stroll across the street to Norfolk Bay. We had everything needed...just perfect !

  • Frankie is a very nice host. Her house is cozy and easy to access. Beatiful sea sight in front the house. My father likes to site in the chire outside and watch the stars. strongly recommand the house. Will be back next time.

  • beautiful beach line in front of the property, good star viewing location nearby, however the fitting is outdated and would need improvement for cleanness (ants in kitchen and restroom)

    Eddy2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Loved Frankies home, its so unqiue and happy. We wish we got to stay longer to embrace the location and home. Frankie was exceptionally helpful.

    Caitlin2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Frankie's house is colourful, light-filled and has beautiful views of the water. The beds are comfortable and the house is very well appointed. Frankie herself was excellent communicator and helped make our stay a great one.

    Steve2017-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • The home has been a sensory delight at every corner. It was comfortable and spacious. Every corner of the space has been thought through and the little greeting in the bathroom mirror was a delight. I'm in awe of how tasteful the entire space has been made up, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)mable, if you're so inclined.

    Foong Wai2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriends and I had a lovely stay in Frankie's 1960's beach shack. Frankie was very responsive in communication and my girlfriends are looking to book again in the future for another girls weekend away. Thank you Frankie, for such a charming place and the bottle of wine to keep our cheer. :)

Wildwood Retreat is a beautifully appointed self contained one bed luxury apartment for couples offering city comfort in a gorgeous secluded rural setting. The Retreat enjoys stunning views of Norfolk bay with mountain backdrop. Bliss!
If you are looking for somewhere special to stay in one of the most ruggedly beautiful areas of Tasmania look no further than Wildwood Retreat! Wildwood Retreat is a beautifully appointed fully self contained one bed luxury apartment that offers city comfort in a stunning rural setting! Wildwood retreat lies in its own private kingdom surrounded by 50 acres of pristine native Eucalypt forest (on 3 sides) in the bucolic idyll of Koonya that lies on the banks of cascade Bay on the spectacular Tasman Peninsula. The retreat enjoys stunning views over rolling pasture to Cascade Bay and Norfolk Inlet with mountain backdrop. A 'perfect picture box scene' where the light and mood changes constantly! The retreat adjoins Wildwood (our home) BUT is fully self contained and enjoys its own private driveway, garden area and entry so guests can relax and come and go at their leisure. Importantly, there are only two of us the vast majority of the time and so its very peaceful ..... you won't even know we are there! The retreat bedroom is extremely spacious with floor to ceiling windows. There is a Kingsize Bed, BIR, contemporary desk and leather recliner. The bedroom also has a generous sized ensuite with underfloor heating, quality towels and soaps, heated towel rails, free standing bath and walk in shower. A hairdryer and robes are also provided. NOTE: The retreat is designed as a couples retreat however does have a double sofa bed in the upper level living area for an occasional extra guest. Though we provide a mattress topper for the sofa bed it will not offer the same level of comfort as a proper bed. There is a beautiful modern stainless steel and timber spiral staircase in the retreat lobby/entry area that leads guests up to the spacious contemporary open plan living/kitchen/dining area on the second level. The upper level living area has floor to ceiling windows that offer spectacular views of pasture, pristine forest and Cascade Bay in the near distance. Guests will feel as if they are literally floating amongst the treetops - a perfect place to relax, de-stress and commune with nature! The kitchen has stone bench tops, quality stainless steel appliances including a Smeg Oven and cooktop, a coffee machine, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and provisions include quality coffee and tea plus a generous range of pantry basics. The open plan living/kitchen/dining area has dining seating for up to 4 guests and a two 2 1/2 seater sofas one of which is a sofa bed (double). There is a flat screen TV and DVD and Bose Music system with i-pod connection, plus DVD library, magazines and a small selection of games. Wildwood Retreat also offers free Wi-Fi. Quality towels and Linen are supplied. Original art works also feature at the property. Wildwood Retreat enjoys a 7 star energy rating. The property is clad on the exterior in stunning spotted gum sourced sustainably interstate. Its entry door is bespoke and has been constructed using recycled timbers. Prolific bird and wildlife can be viewed direct from the property. PROVISIONS Guests are expected to bring their own provisions as the property has its own kitchen and cooking facilities. However a breakfast hamper may be available subject to availability at an extra cost (conditions apply). The retreat is not suitable for people with disabilities or serious physical challenges. The area around the immediate property is relatively flat, however beyond the garden area the land is steep, the ground uneven, there is an open dam, unfenced stone terraces and stone steps to negotiate. Special care needs to be taken in Tasmania's wild places!
Wildwood Retreat is situated in a beautiful and private rural/wilderness location. Koonya lies on the Port Arthur Tourist route and is about a 15 minute drive to both Port Arthur and Eagle Hawk Neck and local facilities in Nubeena. Koonya is central to accessing ALL activities and facilities. Many tourists choose to just do a day tour to Port Arthur Historic Site and they miss out hugely for there are many wonderful things to do here on the Tasman Peninsula. Here are some of my suggestions: 1. Visit Port Arthur Historic Site (perhaps even a ghost tour!) 2. Visit the Coal Mines Historic Site at Saltwater River … its much smaller than Port Arthur but is also interesting and free and is in a beautiful location! 3. Take an award winning boat trip with Pennicott Wilderness Tours that explores the coast from Eaglehawk Neck to Tasman Island: see seal colonies, giant kelp forests, whales (in season), albatross, sea eagles, the famous Totem Pole and the highest cliffs in the southern hemisphere. 4. Visit Port Arthur Lavender: browse the gift shop, then have a spot of lunch whilst enjoying stunning views of the inlet 5. Take a class at or visit the award-winning Mchenry Distillery at Port Arthur 6.. Take lunch at Garbielle's on the Bay at Taylor, Port Arthur OR award-winning Dunalley Waterfront Cafe and Gallery a 30 min drive away! 7. Explore Pirates Bay and other sites at Eaglehawk Neck including the rare geological formation of the Tesselated pavements, the convict 'Dog Line' and Officers quarters museum. Drive through the quirky doo town on your way to see the Devils Arch, Waterfall look out and the Blow Hole or enjoy some of the best fish and chips in Tasmania at "Doolishus". 8. Explore Tasman National Park - including the beautiful Fortescue Bay a large section of the Three Capes Walking Track offering sensational walks and views (2 phases now complete). 9. Explore the many coves and beaches on the peninsula including Safety Cove, Remarkable Caves, Stewarts Bay, Lime Bay and Sloping Main. 10. Enjoy some deep sea fishing or diving amongst the giant sea kelp forests 11. Para glide from the aerie at EagleHawk Neck - where many visitors and locals have seen (subject to the right conditions) the southern lights 12. Visit the Tasmanian Devil Park, Fudge Factory and local museum in Taranna 13. Just sit back, relax and de-stress with a glass of wine whilst enjoying the stunning views from the property …bliss!
  • Amazing building, views and location! Very private and secluded, the bath tub with a view was our favorite part. Great setup with everything you need in the kitchen and pantry. Thanks so much for having us!

    Matt2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing place, where all the 'little things' have been taken care of. Be sure to take a bath in the deep tub and soak away your cares = bliss. The kitchen is well stocked so you can cook up a storm should you desire. Place was so well insulated that despite a very windy wild night we were warm and toasty.

    Amanda2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was a luxurious stylish stay. Everything you need in a secluded spot and stunning views. Great location for exploring Tasman Peninsula or a quiet weekend away.

    Penny 2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • The experience was 10/10. I was blown away by the view out of the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom windows. We just finished the three capes track and spent two nights relaxing. The bath was perfect to rest tired muscles. The kitchen was the best I have see in any air Bnb or stays property. Thoroughly equipped pantry. We had a beautiful time. I wanted to move in. Thanks so much. Xxxxxx

  • What can I say.... This place is heaven on Tasmanian earth;) The view is absolutely mind-blowing, you could just sit whole day and watch the clouds pass by, which I DID!! The apartment itself is beautifully furnished, it has a certain ambience of peacefulness and creativity. I did lots of writing in between my hikes, cause the ambience was just perfect for that. The wi fi worked great if you want to do some work, the BOSE pumped my music and you could cook whatever you want in the amazing kitchen. And then at the end of the day there is THE BATH! Location was great for hiking around Port Arthur and Three Capes and there are also some health food stores if you need to shop. Thank you Janice, I want to come back. Amazing. So glad I found this place. Coming back home recharged and full of ideas.

  • Absolutely fantastic; recommend it to anyone.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Wildwood Retreat; I honestly can't recommend it highly enough! The hosts have thought of absolutely everything and have gone above and beyond what one would normally expect. It is beautifully furnished, incredibly comfortable, perfect for self catering (you won't want to go out for meals because Wildwood is so gorgeous) and the view was spectacular. The hosts were incredibly friendly and full of excellent ideas about what to check out in the surrounding area. It is the perfect base to explore. We wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend it to all our friends and family.

A perfect stopover, the 1940's family holiday cottage has been renovated with new kitchen featuring slabs of natural timber for the benches. The home has a wood fire, polished Tasmanian timber floors. The guestroom has a double bed with cosy linen sheets.
Located on a 3/4 acre property bordering a creek, the cottage is conveniently located close to some of the most striking natural wonders that the Tasman Peninsula has to offer. The Pt Arthur historic site and the start of the Three Capes walk is just 10-15 minutes away by car. Shared living/dining space with wood heater. A vege garden to pick a fresh salad and herbs from.......you may lucky enough see the resident wombat and echidna down at the creek flat below the property. Your bedroom with comfy double bed, soft new linen sheets and storage for your personal items. The bathroom with shower over a bath and lots of hot water please be mindful of water usage as we only have rain water catchment tanks. There is shampoo, soap and fresh towels for guests.

There are pear and apple orchards nearby where fresh local produce can be purchased. You will find many of the highlights of the Tasman Peninsula close by, White Beach, Port Arthur historic site, Port Arthur Lavender Farm and café, Remarkable Cave, Roaring Beach, Mt Brown and Crescent Bay walks, Three Capes Walk (Cape Hauy, Cape Rauoll, Cape Pillar ) - all within 30 minutes by car !

Thanks, Deb!!

    Verity2015-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Deborah was an amazing host. Open and friendly, while still providing us the perfect amount of space to destress and relax. We enjoyed her conversations and generous provisions for breakfast. Deborah went above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay. Also, the pictures match the experience perfectly. Such a cosy cottage, we didn't want to leave!

Basic amenities in this house, ideal for a short stay to enjoy the scenic property and nearby roaring beach. Be prepared for little phone reception, bring a book and enjoy the view instead. The kids loved the scenic view from the bathtub and the coloured pencils and paper.

Only steps from a stunning white sandy beach. This spacious holiday home has a quality fit out and heaps of room. Perfect for a romantic getaway for two but being double story it's got loads of room for family or group getaways. Massive bath & loads of extras!
The picture just cannot do this place justice. Please contact the owner to discuss special one night rates Monday to Thursday!
  • Really beautiful house, right on the beach at Stewarts Bay. Less than 30 seconds walk and you're on the beach. Lovely kitchen and bathroom was luxurious with nice big bath, large showerhead, and underfloor heating. Comfortable lounge room. The main bedroom was huge. Other bedrooms were a bit small but comfortable enough. Only issue was there was only one bathroom (fortunately two toilets) which, if filled to capacity with 12 adults, could be a bit tight. Otherwise the host was a great communicator. Despite an initial booking error regarding number of adult guests, she quickly rectified this and sent people down with extra linen for the spare beds. She also allowed an early check-in and late check-out! Fantastic.

    Marcus2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning quiet location, steps away from the beach. Comfortable well equipped house. Would recommend and stay there again.

    Kate2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, we found the property to be stunning and beautifully styled. The towels and bed linen were beautiful, and the kitchen equipment well maintained and clean. We were generally very impressed. It was the small touches that made the difference (including underfloor heating in the bathroom). The kitchen could benefit from a coffee plunger (or similar). We didn't have our children with us but would have concerns bringing them with us - this is largely due to the open, non compliant internal staircase. It may be worth advising guests to bring a safety gate if they're bringing children. Unfortunately the main bedroom didn't have blinds on one of the large floor to ceiling windows - so it's worth bringing some travel blinds if you have them.

    Ruth2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place. Not many places actually suit having 5 kids and the space necessary for that, but this place did. Kayaks to use, extras like cling wrap and salt and oil, and lots of towels. Will stay here again if we come back to Stewart's bay for sure.

  • We enjoyed a nice relaxing two nights at this beach shack. It's a nice distance for a day trip to the Port Arthur settlement. We saw plenty of wildlife from the hut's balcony. The toilet and shower arrangement surprised the kids (and they're still talking about it) but it was a fun adventure for all!

    Nancye2016-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • we had an extremely restful stay in this beautiful secluded back to basics cottage. a good place to explore the tas peninsula from and really get away from it all.

    David2016-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The location was good to visit Port Arthur and bushwalking on the Tasman Peninsula. Visitors should keep in mind that the place is not close to shops and bring drinking water. We enjoyed the fireplace in the afternoons. Bed sheets and matresses need to be updated.

    Diego2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Everything went well, our kid loved the house and want to go back there in the "cabane dans la foret" (even though it is not really a forest). He explains the toilets and the shower to everyone and is very proud of it! The place is nice and simple, have a nice stay!

    Delphine2016-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this charming place, but be aware it's facilities are somewhat primitive! However, the basics are ok with plenty of hot water, gas to cook on and plenty kitchen utensils. The wood burning stove was easy to light and heated the main open plan area well. The shower is cleverly build in the conservatory, warm during the day! The place is basically without curtains in all areas including the shower and open air dunny, but its so remote that none of that was a problem to us. It is easily accessible by a normal car. Electric lights were bright and charging phones is no problem. The house is solar powered. It's situated in an area with plenty of nature around. We loved roaring beach.

Blossoms on the Jetty is a renovated vintage cottage just over the road from the popular Nubeena Jetty. Every comfort with heaps of character. The cottage has two queen size beds and two fold-outs (all linen provided).
The water and jetty views are amazing. Beautiful furnishings with quirky nautical features. Beds are so comfortable. Delicious white linen. Soft towels, modern fittings inside a gorgeously renovated old cottage with lots of natural light and sparkling water views.
  • A lovely little place, hidden away but so close to everything you could want in the area. Lovely and quiet, clean and quaint. Comfy double bed and lovely ambience. Perfect for an overnight stay or longer. We found it tricky to find after dark, until we worked out it was a one-way-street which meant we had to do a loop around the beachfront road to access. Then a 2 minute stroll to the local restaurant for a delicious meal topped it off. Overall a lovely and enjoyable stay. Thanks Robyn and Nick.

  • We highly recommend these cabins for other travellers. They were very clean and well priced, and close to the nearby Port Arthur Historic Site. The host was very helpful posting a few things to us which we left behind in our cabin. A note to other travellers, we recommend bringing food to cook in your cabin as dinner options in town are limited.

  • The house was exactly as described and there was a big pile of firewood ready to go, which was great as we arrived at dusk and it was cold. All the instructions, to get the key and on how to use appliances, were clear and easy. Vitali had also given us a fantastic rundown of where to shop, local places to eat, etc. The outside fire pit was a highlight. We sat around on a very cold night, with a big fire burning, and ate toasted marshmallows.

Relax in privacy in our two-bedroom open-plan cottage with all conveniences, 2 minutes walk to a beautiful white sand bay. A cosy light-filled beach cottage. Convenient off-street parking. Great views of beach and bush. Large sunny deck all year round. Roaring log fire in winter. Stepping off point for the many attractions on the Tasman Peninsula.
A very relaxing home filled with light from its large windows in every room. Perfect for families, couples and friends. The kitchen is well-set up to enable guests to cook up a storm. You can cook everything and anything with the equipment provided. There are even recipe books to assist with inspiration. Tasmania has such good fresh produce, it is a pity not to take advantage. There are two supermarkets in Nubeena (3kms) and Premaydena (10kms) has a general store that sells local produce, and many other things as well. There is a farm gate vegetable stall on White Beach Road that sells local and other produce. Lucky Ducks cafe also sells seasonal fruit and vegies, as well as serving up food made from local produce. Local markets occur regularly - the calendar in our house lists some. And of course, Salamanca Saturday market in Hobart is only 1.5 hours away. There are lots of books, a TV and DVD/CD player, and movies. The shower is walk-in, and gorgeous fresh towels and cotton bed linen is provided. If it gets cold, light the fire, but it can get very warm quite quickly. The house is easy to access and parking - for 3 or 4 cars - is off-street. Only a road separates you from the beach, so enjoy its pristine waters. A nearby jetty suits those who wish to throw in a fishing rod. We supply beach towels. Please use these (not the bath towels) if going down to the beach. Port Arthur is 10kms away. There are lots of bush walking tracks including the new and world listed Three Capes Walk (and there are two bush walking books in the book shelf); and Pennicott's Tasman Island boat tour is a must. Explore Eaglehawk Neck and the Tasman National Park. A week will fly by in this fabulous location!
This property is situated on the Tasman Peninsula, most of which is national park. There are many walking tracks including the world-listed Three Capes Walk involving three overnight camps in well-built huts. The area has abundant native wildlife and birds. The water at White Beach is crystal clear and warmer than ocean beaches, being about 21 degrees C in the summer of 2016. The bay is very shallow in places, making it ideal for children.
  • We enjoyed a lovely break at White Beach. The house was clean and cosy, and the wood heater kept the house so warm in the evenings. A great base to explore the peninsula from.

  • Really nice place in a great location. We only stayed one night as we were down to see the ghost tour at Port Arthur but would happily stay so much longer! Lovely wood fire, comfy bed, great BBQ and a good selection of DVD's made for a wonderful stay. Thank you Lisina & Aaron! Hopefully we will be back again one day

  • Lisina & Aaron's 'Love Shack' was a wonderful getaway for us. We felt extremely welcomed and everything was looked after. The property was exactly as described and our two dogs loved their large yard. We particularly loved their beautiful wood fire and extensive dvd collection when the weather turned a bit harsh. Lisina & Aaron went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and had a comfortable stay. We have already been recommending their accommodation to others and would love to stay again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

It was a beautiful area and 2 minute walk to some amazing sunsets on the beach! Easy to get to and close to other areas like Port Arthur, would definitely recommend as a base for exploring the peninsula.

    Erin2016-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, clean, tidy and plenty of space. Great yard for pets and kids and only a short walk to the beach. Highly recommended

  • Lisina and Aaron's place was a great little place to stay while we were in the Tasman Peninsula and we were able to explore everything we wanted from there including a nice short walk to the beach. Its a great place for a family to stay although we were just there with our toddler (who loved having some new games and toys to play with on our holiday). My only recommendation would be to make sure you do a shop before you get there as the local 'supermarkets' are quite limited and expensive.

The house is fully stocked with everything you need, beds are comfy and the kayaks are an added bonus! Definitely recommend Peter and Zoe's plus for an amazing, relaxing weekend in beautiful surrounds.

  • My family of four loved our three nights at Peter's holiday home at Stewarts Bay. Peter was a great host and rang during the stay to see if everything was ok. The holiday home was superb with amazing views of the bay. The luxurious home had everything you require (and more). Even in the middle of a Tassie Winter we enjoyed bush walking, fishing, golf and even canoeing in the local area.

  • I stayed at Peter's place in May/June 2017 for four nights with my wife, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. We had a fantastic stay. The house was immaculately clean and very well provisioned with a full kitchen, stereo system, satellite TV, blu ray player, laundry and BBQ. It has absolute water frontage with great views of Stewart's Bay and an amazing deck to relax on. We enjoyed fishing from the dinghy and canoe with the provided fishing gear, and had our catch for dinner one night. There is a foreshore walking track that takes about 20 minutes to get to the Port Arthur Historic Site (or a 2 minute drive). There was a good little supermarket and bottle shop at Nubeena, about a 15 minute drive away. We would definitely recommend to stay here and would love to visit again.

Small basic shack overlooking beautiful White Beach. 50 steps to the sand. Kinda newish kitchen and bathroom. Slow combustion heater. Quiet area with so many attractions nearby. Surfing, shipsterns, bush walks, Port Arthur, lookouts. insta#greatwhiteshack
Basic beach shack. 3 bedrooms, 2 double beds and 2 single beds (bunk). Newish kitchen and bathroom, cozy lounge room. Big deck with amazing view. Stones throw to the beach and calm waters.
  • Great location, excellent set up, great for family. Definetly be back was very relaxing.

  • We had a terrific time spending Christmas at the Great White Shack. The beach is super close by and the home is very comfortable. We had a few small quibbles: the house was rather stifling on Christmas Day (which was very hot), seating 6 people at the small dining table was difficult, and the steep gravel driveway gave us a few heartstopping moments in our big rental van. The pros outweighed any cons, though: we were visited by echidnas and kookaburras, we enjoyed the games, books, toys, and paddle board and view. Nearly everything we wanted to do was in easy reach. Jye was very helpful and everything went very smoothly.

  • Beautiful place. Well presented, clean and quiet. Loved the binoculars and book and movie collection. Also loved the wood fire. Well equipped kitchen, lovely bath. Only minor issue for my partner is that it was a double bed in the front room rather than a queen but I found it all comfortable and cosy. Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday. Remember to read all the instructions they give you in advance as you need to get supplies and take firewood with you.

    Robyn2016-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a lovely time staying at Jye's place. If you are looking for a secluded get-away I highly recommend it! It is so peaceful there and you are right across from the beach. My husband and I took advantage of some of the great hikes that are just a 30-40min drive away along with some of the best Fish & Chips at Dunalley Fish Market and then on our way to Hobart we stopped at Bangor wine and oyster shed - if you like oysters this is a must! Thanks Jye for letting us stay in your place - we had a lovely time!!!

  • Great White Shack is in a remarkable location. White Beach is a very special place. The shack location with veranda looking over the water and the comfortable accommodation makes for a great visit especially if you enjoy the beach location and all that the Tasman Peninsula has to offer.

    vicki2016-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first experience with Airbnb and it certainly was a positive one. In my opinion the accommodation was better than described. The spot was peaceful and pretty, and the shack was very clean and comfortable. I liked it that there would have been plenty to entertain ourselves with (books, videos, games) at the shack in case of rainy days (which we didn't get, by the way).

    Louise2015-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great location with fantastic views, spent a long time on the couch can gazing out the window. Simple, well stocked house. Wasn't anything else needed. Host was friendly and touched base via sms to make sure we were comfortable.

    Daniel2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • My feelings about this place are a bit mixed. On the one hand, the view from the cottage/porch is absolutely stunning, and the location is perfect for exploring the area (Port Arthur, the National Park, etc). In those ways it lived up to our expectations. But on the other hand, the place is a bit run-down and fairly cluttered. A nice place, but it could use some care and attention.

  • Sue was a great host responding to our questions very quickly she gave us sight seeing ideas all of which we followed and enjoyed! Her cottage was the solitude we needed. We loved sitting on the porch watching the sun set and also enjoyed using the fireplace

  • This humble little cottage is beautifully cosy and very well equipped. The view from the verandah is just lovely, with very comfy sofas perfectly placed for enjoying the view with a sunset drink. The fireplace makes for warm, snug evenings and a relaxing ambience. Great little getaway spot for couples, families, or groups of friends. Lots of little inclusions that you don't necessarily find in holiday rentals.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in John and Diane's home. They are very friendly and so accommodating. John gave us a great run-down of local features, which enhanced our experience of the area. We weren't expecting to be served a lovely breakfast of cereals, toast and fruit each day, so we were very pleasantly surprised by this additional comfort. The beds were comfortable, the location was super quiet and the views were really spectacular. Our daughters (11, 9) particularly loved the pool and the sweetheart of a dog. Although we did feel like we were sharing their home, rather than having our own "apartment", this did not bother us in the slightest, as John and Diane were very respectful of our privacy and were in no way intrusive. We were also lucky enough to stay on the weekend of the "Taste of Tasman" in neighbouring Nubeena, which we absolutely loved. What a rocking community and beautiful part of the world!

Close to all the fantastic things for which the Tasman Peninsula is famous, 'The Outlook' is perfect if you're looking for a place to really chill, with expansive views and a sense of unhurried time. This 5-acre permaculture property is here to serve you as a springboard to delight and inspiration. * Homely, relaxed feel * Design-focused furniture * nbn Wifi * Wood fire * Choose a book and snuggle * Farm setting
Available December 2017 onwards: Perhaps cheekily described as 'Quirky Chic', 'The Outlook' has been designed to enjoy the views over Norfolk Bay and adjoining rolling farmland hills, the eclectically furnished dining room, lounge, kitchen and the deck all provide connection with the landscape. The front of the farmhouse has been architect-designed as an addition to an original vernacular 1920's farm-house of modest construction...where 'getting on with the job' was the order of the day. It's a home that's nurtured many children over the years. It's a cared-for environment but it's not an urban apartment. Some things are crooked, the joinery in the initial years is 'relaxed'. It's a place that combines generations of lifestyle, circumstances and uses and it reflects that. It's a place that asks you to guess it's (URL HIDDEN) evolving story. It's a place that encourages you to relax, slow down and to choose your level of engagement or connectedness with the outside world. Enjoy the break from TV...Read a book from the library, play board games, enjoy a wine on the deck as you savour the view to Norfolk Bay and the rolling hills that extend to Eaglehawk Neck, walk around the property or chat around the fire or dining area table with your fellow travellers or family. ...The main bedroom with built-in wardrobes has direct access to the outside from an original rustic door. The second bedroom has morning sunlight with expansive views and no wardrobe. Stuart is away from the property at present but will include photos of these and the bathroom on his return.
Up on the hill-top from the Premaydena hamlet, you are no more than 10-15 minutes from all the very best of what Tasman Peninsula has to offer. Drop down for a quick dip to Norfolk Bay less than 2 minutes drive away or to the long sandy Slopen Main beach with views to Mt Wellington. 4 minutes drive and you are sampling the delights and convenience of Nubeena township with two supermarkets, a Post Office, a Bakery, a Police Station, Cafes and Lucky Ducks well-reviewed cafe/restaurant specialising in using much of the produce from their own garden. 15 minutes away and you arrive at Port Arthur or the start of the Three Capes Track. Stuart is happy to suggest much-lesser known but fantastic rainforest walks and if he's available he is happy to serve as a guide to national and international guests. There will be literature available but something else to definitely keep in mind is to call into visit Ange at the wonderful Premaydena Store near the beach before driving up to the property. You'll discover an extraordinary range of organic and alternative local fresh produce as well as some pretty exotic treats. You'll also be able to experience some super-helpful staff to offer you typical warm, country service!

  • The cottage is clean, comfortable and also has a lovely garden with seaview. We didn't meet Jodie in person but a smooth self-helped check in was well arranged in advance. Quality linens were used in all beds which was much appreciated. The spot itself is beautiful and the location is great, close to all major attractions and several nice beaches. The kitchen provided no cooking materials such as salt etc. but all essential utensils were provided. All in all we had a lovely stay. Thank you Jodie!

The cottage has a fireplace, all cooking equipment, so you can easily feel at home. We had a great stay with only a 5 minute drive to White Beach it was perfect for our little family get away. • Attractive, rustic cottage, well located for the many attractions of Tasman peninsula. It's a good size and well equipped, only the tiny hand basin in the bathroom is annoying, with bench above making it impossible to lean over. The fireplace with plenty of firewood was a big plus, though it wasn't cold when we were there. Very congenial hosts.

  • We were made to feel very welcome, they booked our Port Arthur trips and gave us great tips on what to see around the area

  • Marje and Colin made us feel very welcome from the first moment and until the end! Both are very friendly and kin(URL HIDDEN)This is such a fantastic place which was perfect for our couple, who really wanted time for ourselves with comfort and scenic nature. The hosts gave us a map with possible places to visit and eat. We only stayed for a night so we couldn't make it to most places, however the places we visited were great like it was told. I think the unexpected highlight was the fire place located in the living room. Turning off all the lights and illuminating the house with fire place created such a lovely mood and scent which seemed perfect for a holiday getaway. We would definitely revisit the place with more time. Thank you Marje and Colin for the place care you gave us! : )

  • The cottage is great with nice docoration. it's too big for just two of us as there are 2 rooms with two queen size bed which are very spacious. We have a nice shower with the heater on. the only thing we would like to put on suggestion is that there are not much cooking facility in the kitchen. anyhow, it was a great nice stay in Marje-Colin's cottage!

  • The couples cottage was an incredible experience. A beautiful rustic cottage, with a wood fire, lounge, kitchen and absolutely picturesque surrounds made relaxing easy. Simply, Marje and Colin were perfect hosts and our only regret was staying for just one night. There's also a cafe on site that makes some fantastic coffee.

  • Lovely rustic quiet clean self-contained cabins set amongst trees. Friendly and helpful hosts. Convenient base for Tasman Peninsula walks. We will definitely stay again on our next Tasman Peninsula trip.
