Norton Shores Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Norton Shores

Cozy furnished studio apartment perfect for short or even extended stays. Close to beaches and events in Norton Shores, Grand Haven & Muskegon.
You will have your own entrance and cozy studio amenities (living, dining and kitchen essentials). Bathroom with shower and sauna are also within the unit.
Our neighborhood is friendly and active. It is not uncommon to see or hear kids playing in the cul-de-sac.
  • Had a lovely time staying at Jessica's place with my wife. The hosts are very friendly and quick to respond. The sauna in the unit was so amazing after an evening of sailing on cold lake Michigan!! Their dog is the cutest! Go Blue!

Safe neighborhood minutes from Lake Michigan, downtown Muskegon, Hoffmaster State Park, Lake Express Ferry docks, restaurants, pubs, shopping, theatres, churches etc. Private basement with comfy queen bed with memory foam topper. Leather Couch, chair & ottoman, flat screen TV with dish, wi-fi, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, fireplace. Bathroom with shower, use of washer / dryer. Oak table with 4 chairs, use of patio area and gas grill.
Private basement with all the comforts needed. Queen size bed, table with 4 chairs, couch / chair and ottoman, fireplace, flatscreen TV with Dish Network, WIFI, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave. ** Note ** There is no lock on the door to the basement, but I assure you I will NEVER pop in on my guests. I've had some complaints about the lack of a lock so I want to make that clear. Your privacy is guaranteed. Also - the bathroom is tucked way back in the corner of the basement far away from the living area, and behind the furnace, it has no walls but a privacy curtain, and a room divider in front of that. The water is hot, the lights are bright and the toilet flushes.
Safe and friendly neighborhood. A short drive or bike ride to area beaches.
  • Lurinda is very quick in her responses to any questions. House was very clean and we were pleasantly surprised how much we liked it. We had a very nice stay at her house. Drinks and coffee were very nice to have in the morning.

    Lori2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The space was just what I was looking for: privacy and good location. Lurinda provided everything that I needed and then some. She had spring water, muffins, popcorn, coffee, and tea. The accommodation was very nice. I had a separate space where I could relax and watch tv and also sleep after a day at the beach in Grand Haven. Lurinda's is like a home away from home.

    Regina2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lurinda's place is very well equipped and convenient. We enjoyed our stay there and reccomend it. We thought it was a gòod value.

    Keith2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This space is much larger than it looks in the photos. It's a finished basement, and it was very cozy and clean. I normally can't sleep on an air mattress, but Rindy is clever enough to top it with a memory foam pad, so we slept just fine! The amenities were nice (coffee, real cream, OJ, yogurt, etc). The location is very close to the grocery and any food you might want. All in all, we had a lovely time, and will stay again if we find ourselves in Norton Shores.

    Jessica2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • I didn't get to meet Lurinda since she was traveling as well, but she was very friendly and communicative through messaging. Her place is close to the ferry (where we were coming from) and was easy to find and get into. She had everything we needed, plus some. I would stay here again!

    Kyle2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • She was so easy to communicate. Made me feel right at home. Had everything ready to go and had clear helpful directions

    Jen2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Lurinda's place for a day. She was not in the house but she responded to our messages in a timely fashion. The room was in the basement and was clean. However the bathroom was like a makeshift one in a dingy storage area, it had no walls and only curtains. Also, the door to our room had no lock.

  • I had never used Air BNB before so I was a little nervous to book a stay! I had a lot of questions about the area and about her but she had amazing communication and fast responses before I arrived so I already felt better about booking the trip! When I arrived and stayed with brittinea and her husband, I felt so comfortable! They are super helpful when it comes to directions and going places, they make breakfast and take time to get to know you (if you're willing :)). The location is amazing, super cute house, very clean, and nice backyard. I'm so glad I stayed here! I'll definitely be back! :)

Temple House was built by a lumber baron in 1873, who is purported to haunt it to this day. The home is named for a former mayor who lived there, Ansel Temple. This historic site is home to artists and musicians who welcome travelers!
This unique space boasts hardwood floors, pocket and french doors and a hand-painted tin ceiling! There is an equipped communal eat-in kitchen and living room with a piano. Outside, there are butterfly, herb and vegetable gardens and a fire pit.
Temple House is a short walk from downtown Muskegon, about 2 blocks from Heritage Landing, a site for festivals in the summer. We are a block from the bike trail around Muskegon Lake and other bike trails. We are about a 15 min. drive from Lake Michigan and the ferry.
  • The temple house is a great place with a cool history. There are a fantastic selection of books and a cool old piano.

  • Nice, clean, private space in a quiet neighborhood. Accessible to lake, great location for walking and biking. Bonnie was a pleasant and responsive hostess. A great first airbnb experience!

    Lori2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay with Bonnie! We arrived late and everything was perfect and ready. Comfortable bedding, thoughtful touches like snacks and activities for my children and fresh tulips and fudge from a local candy store. It was like going to visit family! She really went the extra mile to make sure we had a great stay. Bonnie's is just miles from the beach and USS Silversides. Very convenient to explore Muskegon. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Muskegon and cannot wait to come back.

  • Loved this upstairs living area! It is so spacious with plenty of room to hang out in. It had a seperate bedroom area which helps break up the living area!! And Bonnie was so nice and welcoming and we felt right at home! We would come back and stay here in a heart beat. Not to mention you are in a cute little town right on the water!!! Overall it was the perfect stay for us:)

    Kathryn2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for our family. Our two small kids shared the room and we stayed out in the living area pullout. Bonnie was so friendly and responsive. Also had many amenities and supplies in the unit in case we forgot anything. Neighborhood was quiet and residential. About a mile from Marquette beach and a couple miles to downtown Muskegon. Only a couple blocks to the lakeside road which had some restaurants. Overall a great experience for us and would definitely stay again!

Our charming bungalow is located walking distance from downtown Muskegon and Muskegon Lake. Enjoy the quiet neighborhood setting while being close to all of the action that downtown has to offer. Breweries, restaurants, shopping, and the farmers market all await. If downtown isn’t your scene, the bungalow is a quick drive to Pere Marquette beach on the shores of Lake Michigan. Large, uncrowded stretches of sandy beach are the perfect place for a relaxing day in the sun.
There is plenty of free on street parking in front of the house.
  • Marilyn was a wonderful host, easy to get in touch with regarding an early check in when the weather affected our afternoon plans. The little house was perfect for our group of three, and we would most definitely recommend it to friends and family looking for a weekend getaway in Muskegon! Thank you!

    Rachel2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little house and surroundings. Wonderful communication with the hostess and close to main roads so it was easy to navigate, but quiet enough at night to hear the koi pond outside. This is a great place to escape for a few days and enjoy Muskegon.

  • Loved our stay! Marilyn's place is so charming. The perfect getaway!

    Kayley2017-09-04T00:00:00Z

This is a 34 foot Travel Trailer that sits on our private property. We are located just a short drive (15-30 minutes) to many fun activities/locations - including Grand Haven, Grand Rapids, Michigan Adventure, Silver Lake, The Lakeshore Lake Michigan. Muskegon offers many activities for families as well as a local farmers market on the weekend and much more. There is an area set up for grilling (grill included), a fire pit, picnic table plus a yard for kids to play in.
This is set up with full hookup just as if you were in a campground with the advantage of being in the city. We are on a private dirt road with only four houses so it is a small and quiet area.
  • My family of five only stayed one night. We basically just needed a place to crash. This RV was a great place. Clean and extremely well stocked.

    Lisa2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice trailer that is very clean. A great opportunity for a camping experience.

    Ray2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We were in the area for a wedding and thought we'd try out what it's like to stay in a camper. This was a great camper! Clean, cozy, and comfortable, full hookup so it had a shower, and more spacious than we were expecting. Everything we needed for our stay was there. The AC was more powerful than in most hotel rooms. There were just 2 of us, so we used only the front "bedroom" and slept the sleep of the just. :-) Jennifer and David were great hosts, and David offered to turn the grill on for us. Would heartily recommend!

    Alina2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Jennifer's camper for two nights. The price was better than any hotel in the area. They had a small fire pit, grill(did not use), and picnic table behind the camper which was a great surprise! Everything in the camper worked. It is the perfect place for a family with 1 or 2 children to stay that are looking for something other than a cramped hotel.

    Patrick2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer and her husband were super nice and were available whenever we had questions or needed something. They tried hard to meet our needs. The camper is very nice with comfortable beds, refrigerator, towels, extra blankets, and many kitchen stuff. The hot water wasn't working when we were there but we only stayed 2 nights so no big deal. It's a great location with many things to do within a few miles drive. I would definitely recommend this place for a short stay.

    Olga2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay! Very helpful hosts-friendly, good communication! We were having trouble getting an internet connection, and they ended up getting a signal booster which solved the problem. The space was clean and comfortable. Nice location-very close to lots of things to do. We'd stay again!

    Kayla2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer and Dan were extremely accommodating and met us right away as soon as we arrived. The location is ideal for anyone passing. Through and doesn't really want to camp. However if you are looking for a trailer experience much like a camp ground you will be disappointed. However the trailer was very very clean, well stocked and worked well for what we needed it for. We were only in the area a few nights and didn't need the use of a campground so it worked well for us.

My place is close to the beaches in both Grand Haven and Muskegon. Family-friendly activities such as the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex, Michigan Adventures, and other amazing outdoor activities all year round. Restaurants and dining in the area are top notch. Make sure you try Hearthstone Bistro and Handsome Henry's both some of our favorites. My place is good for couples, and families (with kids) or business trips. This is our home and we love it here.
We have a big yard and parking for at least 4 vehicles. We are a few blocks from the Cinema or mall and there is a city beach right up the street. The highways to get to Grand Rapids, Grand Haven, and Traverse City are all also a few blocks away.
We are near highways, beaches, lots of shopping, activities such as Michigan Adventure. We're within walking distance to Cinema Carousel, a local bakery and an ice-cream shop!
  • Good Host

    Harish2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Gary and Laura were lovely hosts! Thoughtful and generous enough to offer us breakfast and let us know what was going on in the area that weekend. Close to downtown Muskegon and Grand Haven. Clean and quiet.

    Chloe2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Gary's home. They had a selection of breakfast items and toiletries available, the house and the room were clean, the neighborhood is quiet and very pretty and close to Mona Lake. It's a 10-15 minute drive to multiple Lake Michigan beaches, parks, and downtown Muskegon, and even closer to great restaurants and all your necessary stores (Meijer, Biggby, lots of local restaurants and ice cream). All this for a fraction of an in-season hotel cost. I definitely would recommend Gary's home without hesitation!

    Anne2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This house is in a prime location if you're looking to spend time in the Muskegon or Grand Haven areas. The house is spotless and very comfortable & quiet. We are already planning on returning for our next trip to Michigan!

    Jackie2017-05-28T00:00:00Z

Great waterfront restaurants are a good bet for your visit.
  • Our experience with hosts Roger And Marty was welcoming and restful, Roger picking us up from the ferry and helping us with our luggage. Their home is in a peaceful area of Muskegon, we walked into town along the lake walk, it probably took a leisurely hour. Bike hire at The Hub that was open until 8pm proved a smart move because enjoyed the taking in the sites and perfect September sun. We enjoyed conversation with our hosts which introduced us to some local history and regional attractions. The farmers market also displayed and offered quality local produce, very enticing. Highly recommend.

    Peter and Julie2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about our stay with Roger and his wife Marty. The room and private bathroom are huge and the house and neighborhood is lovely. Roger and his wife were very welcoming and very interesting people. They gave us self-serve breakfast, and lots of advice on what to do in Muskegon, which is a very nice community. We only wish we'd had more time to explore the museums, beaches, parks, etc. (Note: Double-check the museum hours--they're only open limited days/hours.) We enjoyed the bike paths and riding in the beautiful historic areas of town. The location is only blocks from the ferry to Wisconsin. It was a wonderful stay--thanks Roger!

    Barbara2015-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay my sister and I had in Muskegon with hosts Roger and Martha. We were there for our mother's 100th birthday celebration and both agreed that this was the high-point of our trip. Roger and Martha are engaging, warm and interesting people who have traveled extensively, so know what their guests need to be comfortable. They are very helpful, knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions. Their home is quite lovely and peaceful and we felt so welcomed into their space. Our room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was also clean and large with every kind of toiletry provided. The backyard is green and serene with a pleasant patio area. Our favorite spot was the pretty sun porch where we sat both mornings for coffee and conversation. A good continental breakfast was provided with cereals, breads, fruit and beverages. I highly recommend staying with Roger and Martha. Their house is great and they are the best of hosts.

    Rebecca2015-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Roger and Marty were extremely pleasant and helpful. Their home is incredibly clean and well appointed. They live across the street from a nice park and are a short drive from many local attractions. Book with confidence; they are great hosts.

    Robert2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Richard and Marty epitomize gracious hospitality. We enjoyed our stay very much. Their home is lovely, the private room we slept in was very clean and comfortable, and our too brief visit over coffee and homemade banana bread for breakfast was enjoyable as well. We'll certainly stay with them again next time we travel to Muskegon.

Enjoy your night’s stay on a small hobby farm. We have chickens, ducks, rabbits, and quail. Fresh farm eggs for breakfast! There is an organic farmer's market on Saturdays less than 1 mile away. We're a 6 minute drive from the beach at PJ Hoffmaster State Park with beautiful trails to walk through. 10 minute drive to Grand Haven where they have cute local shops, breweries, and homemade waffle cones with ice cream and more. 35 minutes from Grand Rapids with lots of events and activities.
The house is newly renovated and on 5 acres. The room is simple and cozy. We live fairly simply. We often enjoy grilling outside and sitting at the farm table for dinner. You have full access to the house, kitchen, bathrooms, living room, tv, grill, fire pit, etc. The birds are free-range during the day and all friendly. We coop them up at night. Please keep in mind the animals do make some noise, it's quiet at night but the ducks sometimes have a lot to say in the morning :). FYI - We don't have any roosters.
The neighborhood is simple. We have neighbors on both sides but the trees obstruct from viewing one another, except for the neighbors directly across the street.
  • If we could give them more than 5 stars, we would. We got to know them for 2 days and they already felt like family. Everything exceeded my highest expectations. So clean, so well kept, so amazing in every single way!!! Words cannot describe how much i loved it and how sad I was to leave. Will definitely be coming back soon!!!! You can mark my words! Thank you Dallas and Ashten for opening your house to us and being the best hosts ever!

    Juliet2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I spent an evening in Grand Haven and simply needed a room to stay in for the night. Ashten & her husband Dallas were amazing hosts from start to finish. The home was beautiful and clean, and the hosts were happy to share some drinks and conversate with us around the fire before bed. We had the freshest eggs imaginable for breakfast and got to play with the chickens and ducks before leaving. In short, Ashten's home was just what we were looking for and then some. We hope to return next time we are up north!

    Jake2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Ashten and Dallas were the best hosts that I could ask for. They were so friendly and great to talk to. Their home was absolutely perfect - inviting, clean, comfortable. And the yard with their chickens and ducks is so quaint. I didn't want to leave. I'll definitely be returning in the future. Thanks for the amazing stay!

    Melissa2017-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ashten's home is indeed cozy and quite comfortable. It is very clean and we had the use of every thing we needed. I loved watching the animals, and the chickens even sang to me. This home as well as Ashten and Dallas are a delight. Our second evening our hosts built a backyard fire and Dallas roasted marshmallows to perfection. I had the best nights sleep I've enjoyed in a long time. I would have to rate this place a 5 ! I want to return soon! Thanks for opening your home to us. Susan St Amand. Indianapolis.IN

  • Ashten and Dallas were fantastic hosts! They made us feel so at home. Their home is decorated so beautifully. It reminds me of what it would be like to sleep in a Target magazine!

    Katie2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ashten's place is truly a gem. Very clean, spacious, wonderfully decorated, and waking up to duck quacks is just my style. She was very responsive over Airbnb messenger and I couldn't ask for anything more! I highly recommend this place for anyone travelling through or to this part of Michigan.

  • We loved our stay! It was pretty clean and we really enjoyed the band who lived upstairs music! Definitely a place for artists and musicians! Faith was nice and communication was really good (:

  • Sorry, everyone, but avoid this place at all costs, no matter if you are young or not. It is not only old, it is unsafe. I left a full day early, due to many reasons with the property and the area.

Private entrance, your own living room, bath, queen and single bed, access to laundry, microwave and refrigerator, large deck with view, 2 minute walk to one of Lake Michigan's largest and most beautiful beaches. The space is on a separate level from the rest of the house, but guests also have access to the large deck, with grill, table and chairs, and lake view. There is a bike trail right in front of the house which goes through a woods, along the Lake Michigan lakeshore and all around Muskegon Lake. We're happy to get to know our guests, but also want them have their own privacy, if they prefer. Our neighborhood is positioned on a strip of land bounded on three sides by water (Lake Michigan, Muskegon Lake, and the channel which connects them). There are wonderful trails to hike and bike, and a shoreline where you can walk for miles.

My family and I were only in town for one night for a brief visit but we would recommend this location to anyone that wants to see the beautiful Muskegon waterfront. Quiet yet close to Lake MI ( 1.7 miles). Fun to walk in this neighborhood to view the 1930s charm of small houses
  • My mom and I take an annual trip together every year and were so happy to find Ed's place in Muskegon. The home was in immaculate condition, with no detail forgotten. The two bedroom house is instantly welcoming, definitely a home away from home. Communicating with Ed was always quick and easy. I would absolutely recommend doing business with him. We checked out three beaches in the area, Kruse, Pere Marquette, and Muskegon State Park, all beautiful and close to the property. Ed had bikes to use, lots of great riding paths around. There is a lot to do here, including absolutely nothing, which we enjoyed in the quiet neighborhood in the mornings. Also, check out Righteous Cuisine for amazing tacos, about 20 minutes away.

Quiet 1875 Italianate home. 2nd floor bedroom w/ private bath. Walk to town. Sample local brews at Pigeon Hill or Unruly. Try wood-fired pizza at elegant 18th Amendment. Eat perch, walleye, trout at a marina-side eatery. Healthy: yoga, smoothies at RootDown. Rent bikes at City Hub, cycle to Pere Marquette beach on L. Michigan. Quick drive to dunes, woods, rivers, lakes for hiking, kayaking, canoeing. Relax on patio and in backyard. Enjoy kitchen, sunroom, formal dining room, salon, and library!
The St. Mary's Room. Very comfortable temper-pedic queen sized bed with private bath. You will hear soft chiming of the St. Mary’s bells each hour.
The Lakey House is located in the heritage district of Muskegon, across the street and a few doors down from the Hackley and Hume Homes museum. William B. Lakey lived in this house for many years, and was the owner of the old Lakey Foundry which was situated on Muskegon Lake. It was also used once as a music school. This circa-1875 building was designed in the lumber era by architect John O’Connell in the Italianate style. Look for examples of this style around town – typified by a low or shallow roof-line, tall, vertical windows, sometimes with a cupola, and double brackets supporting the soffit. The house is located within walking distance of the old downtown, which is currently being revitalized by a spirited group of business owners and residents. We welcome visitors to come and enjoy both the remnants of our industrial past and the remarkable natural beauty of this small city. Muskegon is situated on Muskegon Lake, a deep-water port. During the temperate months, the Lake Express ferry from Milwaukee can be seen pulling in to Muskegon, as well as two new Great Lakes cruise ships. Welcome to the Port City!
  • The pictures don't do this place justice! The space is wonderful, and Sandy is a great host. We had a lovely time, and she anticipated every need!

    Amanda2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy is a great host and made our stay easy and memorable! The pictures did not do the place justice. Her home was a great base - we went kayaking down the Muskegon River (Guy's Ultimate kayak service), swimming at Pere Marquette beach (thanks Sandy!), hiking at Muskegon national park, and discovered Grand Armory Brewery in Grand Haven - all within 20ish minutes of her home. We walked to breakfast every morning (Carmen's Cafe, excellent!), the local farmer's market, and Pigeon Hill brewery (awesome place to relax). We appreciated the historic feel of the town. The house was comfortable and charming. There is plenty of space to hang out in the back yard or inside. Sandy is as engaged as you want her to be (that's our impression anyway) and totally cool to chat with. We stayed in Room #1 and the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was very nice (don't forget your toiletries). Very clean. Sandy did a nice job of making us feel welcomed and oriented. She is only a text away and very responsive. We would stay here again, no doubt. Thanks Sandy!

  • Though our stay was brief we very much enjoyed Sandy's charming and spacious AirBnB. We especially loved the back patio and garden. So peaceful. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

  • The artsy feel of this old house yet some modern features as well, make this place just wonderful! The communication was super easy and Sandy accommodated me with a same day reservation for my spontaneous trip. My bedroom with bath was very large and the bed super comfortable. It was so thoughtful that they provided gourmet coffee, fresh fruit, granola bars and muffins- yum . I will definitely seek this location out again in Muskegon and highly recommend to other visitors to the area!!!

  • Great historical home in a unique and charming neighborhood. Walkable to beach or lake but far enough away to be quiet. Beach was just amazing-- wide soft sand, not super crowded.

  • A great house that can accommodate guests of all ages, located near beautiful beaches: we couldn't have asked for more! We loved how there was ample room in the house to spread out and read, play games, cook dinner, or watch a movie. And we especially loved our trips to nearby Pere Marquette beach, an absolute treasure that we mostly had to ourselves. We'd do it all again in a heartbeat! The host was super helpful and responsive via text message without being intrusive. And when we forgot a few of my son's items at the house, she mailed them to us right away: a wonderful personal touch that went above and beyond expectations.

    Christopher2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This house is great for families! It was very clean & provided us with everything we needed, & more. The owners were very prompt when responding, always available via text & allowed us complete privacy during our stay. The neighborhood is very quaint & quiet; we felt comfortable there & the alarm system provided an extra sense of security. The location isn't immediately beach front but the walk is a very easy stroll that we made daily in under 10 minutes ... when combined with the price, it's a steal. The beach that is right there is so nice & provides 'extras' like trails to the lighthouse, a little ice cream shack, a nice restaurant/pub, boat rentals, etc. If you're looking for a very peaceful, home away from home, relaxing family getaway this place should be considered!

    courtney2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a fantastic time! The house was perfect with plenty of room for everyone. Everything in the home was extremely comfortable and thoughtfully designed. Laurie was very sweet and made sure there was a baby gate and outlet covers for my 11 month old. I would absolutely stay here again!

  • This house was the perfect place for a relaxing Michigan vacation! Situated a few steps from Muskegon Lake and a very short (5 minute) walk to Lake Michigan's pristine beaches, I fully recommend staying here to anyone looking to enjoy Pure Michigan. The house was clean and spacious, and the owner was fantastic at communicating. The location is absolutely perfect if you are looking to relax at the beach or make a short trip to many of the beautiful lakeside towns that are nearby. Michigan is one of my family's favorite places to visit, and we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Max2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best houses we have ever rented. As soon as you walked in it had that cozy & warm feeling. From the location, to all the restaurant & activity brochures, the cleanliness of the house, the campfire site, the BBQ grill. There's just so much, you will have to rent it to feel the same way. This is a must rent vacation home.

    Rose2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • House was exactly as listed. It is in a great spot between Lake Muskegon and Lake MI. Very nice, quiet area that is great for families. We had a 3 mo old and a 9 year old with us plus adults and this house was perfect for everyone!

    Rachel2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were traveling with toddlers and Laurie our host made sure there were safety plugs in the electric outlets and a baby gate for the stairs. We really appreciated that. The house was decorated and furnished like a nautical beach house even though it wasn't directly on the water. There were lots of beach toys and a wagon to pull the little ones on the walk to the beach. The upstairs game room was well equipped and would have been really handy had the weather been bad. The kitchen was well equipped, but we decided to make spaghetti and couldn't find a colander, but we made out OK without it. We also made use of the fire pit which made for a nice evening. A portion of the upstairs bedroom was unfinished entry to an attic area which only had window blinds covering it, maybe should be closed off. The bedroom with bunk beds, top bunk person has to be careful if ceiling fan is running, but she did warn us ahead of time. With so many of us we really needed 2 bathrooms, but the upstairs bath water flow wasn't very good and tub wasn't very clean. There was a lovely large screen TV and we made use of the WiFii and coupons for the area our host left out. We were close to Michigan Adventure Park which we visited, and close to the beach where we flew kites and build sand castles. It was a little cold during our stay for much swimming. We basically had a lovely time and our family from out of state enjoyed the visit to Michigan.

  • Great place and very close to the beach. The beach is just a 5 minute walk and is beautiful. This home is very clean and is well kept. We had two families and had plenty of space. I would definitely recommend this home.

  • This is an ideal house. There is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The outdoor patio creates another great sitting area in the summer and the house is in a great location. There is no AC, but she provided fans for every room and there are plenty of windows and shade to help keep the house cool. It was a great experience.

  • We very much enjoyed the stay. It's a perfect spot for us married couples who enjoy some time at the beach.

Tucked away in historic Bluffton neighborhood, my home is a 5 to 10 minute walk to the sugary sands of Lake Michigan. Walk the other direction out of the gate, you will be on the bank of Muskegon Lake where you can drop your kayak or paddle board in for a sunrise cruise. If you have a boat, there is a public launch less than a mile away as well as a public bike trail along Muskegon Lake. Finally, my home offers a large and private backyard with a fire pit.
Third Coast Cottage sits in historic Bluffton neighborhood right off of Pere Marquette beach. The house is comfortable for up to six people with three of the five bedrooms outfitted. In addition, two large living rooms and a large kitchen space offers plenty of room. A dining room is available that has seating for six. There is a full bathroom upstairs and a half bath just off of the side porch. As for washer and dryer, they are located in the basement. Just watch your head while going down the stairs, the ceiling is quite low. Finally, the backyard offers plenty of space within this small neighborhood. It has a large fire pit and offers nice privacy to relax.
Bluffton is a historic neighborhood known as the Actors Colony. In the early 20th century it was the vacation spot for Buster Keaton, a silent film star, and many other performers of that time. There is a walking tour held that highlights this era and the people who lived in the neighborhood. More information can be found here: http://actorscolony.com/
  • House was right on the lake and all the neighbors were extremely friendly. We had a great time at the house and it really is just a nice place to go relax with your friends.

  • The beach was very close to the property, which was extremely beautiful without much people on the beach. The neighbor was also quiet, and the firepit behind the house was also great for getaway from the city. Definitely recommended!

  • Delightful stay that was comfortable and relaxing. The location was convenient and if I did not drive the bus route was close by. Lake proximity is perfect as well for anyone wanting that experience, and who wouldn't? When we arrived there were delightful seasonal decor that added to our experience. Spacious, comfortable and full of character. Definitely would stay here again!!!!!

  • Very nice and clean house in a good quiet neighborhood. Big enough for 4 to 8 people comfortably, but only 1.5 bath. Big backyard with fire pit for bonfire. Kitchen must be recently remodeled, very clean and well-equipped. Host is very considerate and provides quick responses. The house is only a short drive to a long white-sandy beach where you don't want to miss watching sunset.

  • We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our family of 6, there was plenty of room for all of us. The house was clean and comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The location is central for traveling the west coast.

This 1600 square foot house is perfectly situated on a peninsula one block from a park on Muskegon Lake (easy to carry kayak or use kayak roller) and a 3 mile pristine award winning Pere Marquette Beach on Lake Michigan. The house is next to the yacht club, one block from the party store and in a low traffic historic Buster Keaton neighborhood. (tours are common and can be requested.) Currently a documentary of Buster Keaton is in the works, will we see his fan Johnny Depp?
This is my summer house and summer headquarters for Dr. Michigan founder of SharklessSea ( (See on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) ) ) It is in Bluffton neighborhood (a peninsula between Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake) famous for the actors colony and summer home to Buster Keaton. It is one block from a small Park on Muskegon Lake where you can kayak across to the Muskegon State Park sand dunes and and see all the sailboats and the ferry to Milwaukee and maybe even a Laker (Great Lakes freighter.) I like sailing, I have a 15 Supercat on the Lake Michigan beach and am working on my old sunfish. The Pere Marquette beach regularly wins awards for best beach in West Michigan. This area is probably the perfect place for sailing in Michigan with a protected Lake and access to Lake Michigan....and the world. My house is a blend of original and modernized. I tore up the carpet and the floors are wood and have not been refinished yet which doesn't bother me personally but eventually I will finish them . Most rooms have new paint. What's nice is the living room has lots of open area. We have games for the rainy day and a small yard to play in and for the kids to camp. We have a wagon to tow to the beach and a two person sit on top kayak and the single sit inside kayak.
The closeness to two beaches MapQuest my address to see we're on a peninsula between Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan a couple of the rooms have a view of Muskegon Lake and one block away you can watch the yacht club race sailboats regularly. The bus stops right in front of the house. We're about a half mile away from the ferry station that goes to Milwaukee. Our neighborhood is known as Bluffton ( the name of NY Times bestselling book about Buster Keaton Here is a little video of Buster Keaton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UomDfJKzyJ8&feature=youtu.be
  • We enjoyed our long weekend at Mark's home. It's comfortable place for a family or larger group to stay and spend time together. Mark explained things well, with a welcoming note and we appreciated his hospitality. Muskegon is a pretty community, and we look forward to staying here again.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Marks house. We used his Kajak for a kajaking tour with our kids. He even provided life jackets for kids and boogie boards for a fun day at the beach. We also liked the atmosphere of being in a house that's actually used by the owner.

Adorable 2 bedroom vintage beach cottage steps from Pere Marquette Beach! Relax on the beach all day, then grilling out, and end it around the fire pit! Newly renovated, this is the place to create amazing memories!
Steps from the beach, Bailey beach cottage has everything you need for your vacation....fully equipped kitchen, gas grill, beach chairs and toys, sand box for the kiddies, high speed internet, smart tv with netflix, back deck, and 3 season front porch with wrap around windows. Two bedrooms, one bath (bathtub shower), and pull out couch. One bedroom has queen bed, and the other has full/twin bunk beds. Sleeps 5-6.
It's the Beach! Pere Marquette beach is the large, award winning (because it's so clean!) public beach in Muskegon, and Bailey Sands Beach Cottage is just across the street. Walk to the playground, the BBQ beach bar, or through the woods. Walk the boardwalk or on the pier to the lighthouse. Bike paths very close and only a mile from the ferry landing.
  • The location was A++. The beach was right across the street. The cottage was cozy and comfortable. A great time was had by all.

    Jim2016-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We throughly enjoyed our stay here. It's in a prime location and the cabin couldn't have been more cozy.

    Eric2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here the last weekend in September. The weather was fantastic, and the cottage was in a perfect location for beach walks or bike rides. Despite being close to the beach, the cottage is in a very quiet spot, making it easy to relax after a day of activities. We plan to return in the future.

    Brian2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an wonderful time at Bailey Sands! The house is so lovely and right across the street from the most beautiful beach!! Tara made everything simple and easy! We can't wait to stay here again! 5 stars!!

    Kristine2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage worked very nicely with plenty of areas to just relax and enjoy spending time. It is just across the street from an incredible beach. Bring slippers or sandals; we found ourselves running out to the beach and in and out of the cottage to the fire pit or the grill quite frequently and slippers worked well for these activities. We had an excellent time away, but were also close enough to do many activities in The Muskegon area including kayaking and taking an excellent tour of the lighthouse. We had a bonfire nightly and enjoyed card games, drinks, and roasting marshmallows. Between the kitchen, grill, and the fire pit, we cooked most of our meals at the cottage, but also recommend the Deck restaurant which is on the beach.

    Saundy2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tara was absolutely sensational - welcoming us into her cottage, sending us detailed information beforehand, and assuring us all along the way that our vacation would be restful and relaxing. Tara is an excellent host: communicative, comprehensive, and very kind. The beach cottage was even better than we imagined: great location, cozy living, sufficient amenities, and the right amount of privacy, activity, and electronic accessibility while still trying to "get away." I'd definitely recommend this booking for anyone who likes being active (parks/recreation/shoreline walks) as well as anyone who likes being lazy (beach/campfires/front porch reading). We brought our dogs and the dog beach was perfect, too.

    Katherine2015-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here and would definitely stay again if we came to the area. The neighborhood was great and right across the street was the beach and a great park that our children loved!

    Brianna2016-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was exactly as described: quaint, cozy, steps from the beach. Tara's restaurant recommendations were lovely and the hiking trail behind the house was really cool. My favorite part was sitting on the front porch watching the Lake. Wonderful weekend getaway.
