The Eden Valley is the quiet side of the county of Cumbria in North West England, naturally beautiful quiet & away from the crowds of the nearby national parks of the The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales . Its not remote , is very easy to get to but still feels well off the beaten track.
  • It was a wonderful experience staying in the castle, beautiful room, comfortable bed and nice breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the evening by the fire.

  • What a great place to stay. Simon and Wendy aimed to create a refreshing change from a soulless hotel and they have achieved that aim very successfully. I will certainly be back the next time I'm passing.

  • Wonderful castle. A little smaller than I had expected for a castle, but overall it was wonderful. I'd definitely go again if I could afford it. Its a quiet and quaint area that has spirit.

  • We drove 5 hours up from London to experience life in a castle and it was absolutely worth every second of the journey. Wish we had stayed more than the night. It was an enchanting experience wandering around the ground floor of the castle which sports several recreational rooms, a mini cinema, a self serve bar and a big dining room. It was a truly unique, homely and comfortable stay, can't recommend it more!

  • We had one night experience in Augill Castle which was good. Wendy recommended us Orangery room which is good for couple who want to hide away from other guests. The day when we arrived, Wendy's daughter Emily gave us a fast tour and showed us the honesty bar. We met Wendy in the morning, she was also friendly and easy communicative. The breakfast was fantastic. Overall, it made our castle dream come true.

  • What a unique stay! Loved all the decor and the atmosphere of the home. We were put in the Middlesmoor room which had lots of light and could see out into the gardens. Beds were super comfortable and everyone was friendly. Will be back and most definitely recommended to friends back home - thanks again.

  • We had a wonderful stay with our family at Augille Castle. We got an upgrade to Derwent and Raisbeck, and it was totally a beautiful experience and very thoughtful. The kids loved the library and the collection of toys. The dress and play is a really good touch for the kids. The best experience one could have in a lifetime. John was extremely helpful in showing us around the castle and with our needs. Great English breakfast . Awesome job done by Simon and Wendy.

  • Phil's house is stunning and huge - there were 10 of us and there was still plenty of room. We had a fantastic time - the pool and jacuzzi are fab!! Phil was very helpful when we had any questions and really friendly & accommodating. Would defo recommend this house!

  • Phil and Kath have been the most relaxed and helpful hosts we could've asked for. They made us feel very welcome and at home. The house is amazing, the perfect location for a hen do of 14. We hardly moved from the pool and outdoor area. I would very highly recommend this place

  • We spent a lovely time ringing in the New Year at Phil and Cath's fantastic house. They were great hosts and gave us loads of information and help before we arrived and even more when we got there! The house and pool were perfect for us all! Great stay.

  • Myself and 11 other students stayed in Phil and Cath's lovely house for one night while we were competing at a competition in Castleford. Phil and Cath gave us a lovely welcome and tour around their house making us all feel comfortable and they were really helpful. We all loved the pool and jacuzzi, this allowed us to have a fun and relaxing night. We would all highly recommend this house to others. Thanks again Peter.

  • From my initial email to leaving the house on Sunday, both Cath and Phil were brilliant. Organizing a Hen Party is never easy, however they were extremely helpful with activities, places to go, things to do in the local area and were always on hand throughout, from booking to the weekend. Made my life as organiser easy. The house it's self was absolutely beautiful, and the pictures really don't do it justice. The entire group was blown away by the space and the amazing pool area. I organised a cocktail master class to come to the house and the new conservatory space worked out the perfect place for all us. I would highly recommend the house if you are thinking of a girly weekend away or hen party.

  • An amazing place to stay and the perfect way for us to celebrate a 30th birthday with all of our friends. Couldn't possibly find fault with the home or Phil and Cath as hosts, so accommodating and gave us brilliant recommendations for local walks and places to eat and drink. Would love to come and stay again in the future and would strongly recommend anyone considering a stay here to do so. The house really has to be seem to be believed!

  • We have just spent the weekend at Phil and Cath's amazing home and couldn't have asked for more. They were very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The house was so much larger than it appears in the photos (we kept loosing each other!). They were there when we arrived to show us around and made themselves available should we have needed anything while we were there. We really enjoyed ourselves in the spectacular pool and jacuzzi, relaxing in the comfortable lounge, eating together in the spacious dining area and partying! It had every amenity we could need, including a fab bluetooth speaker. What we didn't expect were the extras: seasoning/oil for cooking, lots of fresh towels, washing up liquid, a dishwasher with tablets ... we even used the washing machine! Phil and Cath really did think of everything and we will definitely be visiting again. Thank you!

  • I am so pleased to be able to leave a 10 out of 10 for Phil and Cath. Not only did they make every inch of our weekend easy, but with their helpfulness they also made it fabulous. I had so many annoying questions about location, food shop delivery, speakers systems and where was good for a party near by. They were always so helpful and made me feel like a guest even before I had arrived. The house is amazing. Being a big group of girls we loved the pool, massive kitchen where we could all play games and eat together. It was perfect for a big group of mates getting together. Near by there are some pubs-we had a great night out. Gotta say a huge thanks to Cath for having a good giggle with us when we first arrived, she made us feel relaxed and welcomed. Many thanks guys! X

Try one of our comfy camping pods in N Yorkshire. The Small Pod is ideal for 2 people, but you can fit in a child & dog too. Bring everything you would camping - apart from the tent! IMPORTANT NOTE: there are no beds in ANY of our pods. However, we hire out airbeds for £3 each.
Hillcrest Park is our 6 acre, holiday location in the northernmost of the Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale. Surrounded by farmland, it offers peace, tranquillity and beautiful views of Teesdale – yet is only 10mins from the A66. It is ideal for walkers, cyclists and dog owners (we have a dog walking field onsite) and is close to Richmond, Barnard Castle, High Force Waterfall, Raby Castle and a host of other Dales attractions. Camping Pods are solidly built, insulated wooden huts with good headroom and a carpeted interior floor area, with lights, a heater and an electric socket to power mobile phones, laptops and travel devices for that little bit of extra comfort. There is timber decking providing somewhere to sun-bathe, prepare food or hang your wet gear. The window and lockable French doors are double glazed and the Cumbrian sheep's wool insulation and fitted heater means that the Pod really is a year-round option. There is a cycle storage area on site and we also hire out camping stoves and mattresses if you require and can provide a breakfast pack with advance notice. You will have full use of our centrally heated amenity block with free showers, loos, hairdryer, hot water for dishwashing, fridge, kettle, microwave and hob plus a coin operated laundry. There are picnic tables/benches provided for each pod as well as hardstanding for barbeques. If you don't want to cook outside for yourself, there is a good pub a mile and a half up the road in Caldwell (the Brownlow Arms) which serves food in the evenings. But if you fancy a good walking destination, you can wander down to Winston Gate (15mins walk away) and take the Teesdale Way along the river Tees. All in all, the Pod really is 21st Century Camping. So why not revisit those fun childhood holidays, but this time with grown-up comforts.
  • Beautiful spot with all the amenities you need to a fuss free camping experience without the hassle of putting up a tent! Dog friendly is a big plus also!

  • Everything about our stay was perfect. The pod was really good, bigger than I expected. I'm 6ft2 and I could stand up easily in there. The toilets, showers and kitchen area were all kept very clean and were equipped with everything you needed. We took everything we would need for camping but realised the kitchen had everything we needed anyway. Kate and Ed were lovely when we arrived. Ed showed us to our pod and showed us around the site. Then gave us some tips for nice walks and good places to eat! Couldn't of asked for anything more. Will definitely be going there again.

  • Highly recommended - Great hosts and great place. Will definitely be visiting.

  • The camping pods are a great size, offering space for a double air bed and still extra space for your bags. There is a radiator in there that plugs into the socket. This really does help keep the pod warm. The amenity building is very handy with a kitchen where you can cook your food and a kettle for a lovely hot cup of tea. It’s just a short walk from the camping pods. There are lots of leaflets and information in the amenity building, as well as, hot showers and pots and pans to use to cook your food. The area is very lovely and the local pub (The Brownlow Arms) is superb. I would recommend going here for at least a drink! Kate went out of her way to tell us about the local area and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. If you’re not one for camping in a tent or if you just fancy something a bit different, I would definitely recommend staying in one of Hillcrest’s lovely camping pods.

  • After a friendly reception Kate showed us the delightful Pod accomodation which was clean, warm, comfortable & in a beautiful location. Kitchen & shower facilities were excellent and we enjoyed a quiet and pleasant stay. Highly recommended.

  • Fab camping pod in a great location! Will stay again.

  • This was our first experience of podding and we were not very well prepared. Our host was very pleased to see us and made us feel immediately at home. Sensing that we were novices she inflated our air beds and showed us around the site pointing out the facilities before asking us whether we had made arrangment to eat in the evening. She made a number of suggestions but in fact we had booked a table at a restaurant locally. We had an excellent night's sleep. When we left in the morning she asked whether we had enjoyed ourselves, made several suggestions of places to go in the vicinity and told us something of the history of her business. We certainly plan to go back when we have more time, hopefully later this year. In conclusion, it is a beautiful location and immaculate site with clean, well maintained services. The pod itself was warm and comfortable.

  • A lovely stay in a lovely part of the country. Kate and Ed were very helpful and friendly, and the site was excellently maintained. Would highly recommend :)

A completely self contained and private space in which to unwind. Quality vintage bed linen, towels and gowns are provided, as are basic ingredients for home cooking, garlic, herbs etc. Organic produce from the vegetable garden are available when there is a glut.
This is a unique opportunity to stay in our vintage showman's van set in mature gardens. It is a self contained open plan space consisting of a large double bed, a dining and sitting area, and a fully equipped kitchen with gas oven. The loo with hand wash basin and towel are in a separate hut beside the caravan. There is an outside cast iron bath in a secluded area nearby, heated with a wood burner. A supply of firewood is provided. There is a wood burning stove in the caravan, and we will ensure a good supply of dry firewood for your use. However, those wishing to use the bath more than once will have to gather their own firewood. You can of course bring your own wood supply if you prefer. Linen sheets, fluffy towels and bathrobes are provided. Fresh breakfast food is supplied. Requests for special dietary needs can be met if forewarned. There is ample parking space next to the caravan. There is a radio and ( rather patchy) internet connection but no television. Visitors are welcome to bring their dog, but only I dog at a time as the space is limited.
The village lies midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Hambleton Hills and Moors, ("the Golden Triangle.") Leeds, Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk are all within easy reach. There are two pubs in the village, both serve meals during the daytime and evening. The New Inn in the next village, Tholthorpe, also serves evening meals, and has a newly installed wood fired pizza oven. There is a small shop/deli in the village which has a wide range of interesting fresh food. Borobridge and Easingwold are only 5 miles distant, where all you could need is available. This is a walker's paradise with many historic buildings, abbeys and castles to visit within a radius of 20 miles. (Castle Howard, Fountains Abbey, Newby Hall, Benningborough Hall, to name but a few) Fishing in the River Swale is popular, and day tickets can be obtained in the village. There are several good golf courses in the vicinity. As the immediate area is relatively flat being in the river valley, it is great for cycling,
  • Great hosts, very relaxed atmosphere and very good communication in the run up. This was our honey moon and we had the best time ever, it was perfect for us. The caravan was incredible and surpassed our expectations.

  • Margie's Caravan is simply a dream and very cosy and relaxing. We loved every minute and wished we could have stayed longer. Highly recommended and we hope to be back soon

  • I absolutely loved my weekend away here and was gutted when I had to leave. I wish I could come to this place every weekend! Completely tranquil, quiet and private. Building fires in the Woodstove and outdoor tub was delightful. And having their dog Dan as company every morning was great too (although I think he was really just hoping to mooch some breakfast...!). Will return very soon. Thanks to hosts for everything.

  • Maggie and Humph couldn't have been nicer. We felt so lucky to have enjoyed this unique and enchanted place. The caravan was gorgeous - beautifully kitted out and cosy.

  • We had an amazing time at Margie's and Humph's caravan. The caravan is very cosy and more spacious than it looks in the pictures. The bed is super comfortable and the caravan has all the amenities that might be needed. We loved the atmosphere of the place that the caravan is located. Margie and Humph are very friendly and relaxed. They kindly provide their help when needed always respecting privacy. The town is also very nice. We really liked the local pub and the restaurant. The highlight is definitely the bath. It was good fun and certainly made the whole experience more unique. We plan to get back there soon!

  • What an amazing place. Margie was a great host and looked after us well, she even helped get the fire going for us so we could have a bath under the stars. Dan the dog deserves a special mention as well. We will be back!

  • A wonderful, unusual and completely relaxing place to stay. The caravan is beautiful outside and in, with everything you need for a few days. Back to basics but with all sorts of luxuries as well - no hot running water, but so many ways to heat it up for the fabulous outdoor bath or the ingenious bucket shower, soft and cosy bathrobes to keep you warm, loads of space to call your own, and a gas stove in case you can't wait for the fire. We enjoyed borrowing the resident dogs for a walk in the countryside, cooking on the barbecue and relaxing in the bath under the stars (adapted since the pictures - the tap is now in the middle for ultimate comfort). Maggie is around for advice and a chat, but very discreet and although the caravan is quite near the house I never felt overlooked. We will be back - I hear bathing outdoors in January is pretty good!

    Alona 2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable and cosy place to stay. Friendly, welcoming hosts. I know if we'd had any problems they'd do whatever was needed to help. The outdoor bath was a unique experience that we loved!

  • Julia and Paul made us feel very welcome. Great location and lovely room. We had an emergency and Julia and Paul went out of their way to make sure we were okay.

  • The room was very comfortable, in a lovely Victorian house, and the atmosphere cozy and quiet. Even though we didn't really see much of the family and we didn't get to meet Julia, everything we could need was provided for and the communication was clear. We had a really good time in York and this room was convenient for our short stay.

  • Great location, wonderful hostess and a beautiful home.

  • Julia and her husband were very good hosts. The space itself was very nice and was as described. We had a bit of an issue connecting to the wifi, but Julia and her husband did everything they could to solve the problem. The large private bathroom was definitely a nice perk! Location was also good-- probably 10-15 minute walk to either train station or city center. Bed was cozy, and location allowed for a quiet night's sleep!

  • Julia was a great host and very accommodating! The location is great and only a 10 minute walk to the old city. We really enjoyed our stay!

  • Lovely house in an amazing location. Walking distance from York centre and just down the road from a quirky high street. Julia was very accommodating and welcoming - thank you!

  • Beautiful, clean room in a perfect location for seeing what York has to offer. Julia made me feel incredibly welcome and made sure I knew everything I needed to. The added ability to make tea and the provision of robes and a hair dryer were thoughtful little extras that made this place stand out. Would definitely stay here again if I visited York.

  • A very nice location to get into the city. A wonderful place just steps away for breakfast and very good coffee. The room was adequate for my needs. I recommend it for a moderately priced and friendly place to stay while in York.

Two double rooms and a cot available to rent. New kitchen & bathroom. Converted Victorian terrace in a bohemian area of hull. 15 minutes walk to the city. It is situated 2 minutes from cafes.
  • Really lovely house with a great vibe. Natalie has great taste and the decor is to a high standard. Our room was great - bed linen & towels were good. Would certainly book again.

  • Great communication. Very easy to find. Lovely place.

  • Great place to stay on a very good area of Hull surrounded by bars and restaurants. Lovely spacious house and lovely people.

  • Natalie's house is in a brilliant position for local shops and bars, it is a beautiful house and very comfortable

  • Really spacious, bright and clean place. Excellent location for lots of lovely places to eat and drink and a nice walk to the centre of town. Modern, bright kitchen, though no electric kettle, microwave or toaster but there was a nice coffee machine and the whistling gas kettle was fun. No normal tea bags but plenty of fresh coffee and fruit teas and milk was left in the fridge. Futon mattress was comfortable enough for a couple of nights though we were glad of an extra pillow we'd brought. The pressure and heat from the shower was excellent but it was just a showerhead over a bath with no screen or curtain which made it very awkward to shower without flooding the whole room. Natalie was just coming back from one holiday and was off on another the day we arrived which made some of the communication a little tricky. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, visiting some of the lovely food and drink spots around the corner, checking out the city of culture and would very much like to come back.

  • This is a very classy house with a beautiful decor. It is right by Prince's Avenue, a street with lots of restaurants, some bars and a cool bakery called Fudge. We ordered some takeaway from the Moroccan place nearby, which was delicious. The kitchen of the house is very stylish and comfortable for sharing a meal. We also went to The Deep (twice!), the marina, the Ferrers Gallery, Maritime Museum and a beautiful park right next to the house, with a pond, birds and a large playground. A wonderful minibreak in a house very stylishly decorated by Natalie.

  • Thank you for a lovely stay, we were meeting up with family locally, my grandad was from Newstead St so it was such and excellent location to do a memory lane walk. Restaurants close by and the house was amazing, I got some decorating ideas! I will come again when I have the next family visit :)

  • great little place with a cool vibe. Very close to good bars and ideal to explore Hull. We were made very welcome and Natalie was very helpful in accommodating our rather late arrival.

Very small tiny little 1 Bedroom cottage in the heart of Yorkshire moors, with many original features . Comfortably sleeps two. Perfect for a little getaway with no phone internet or television. Pub over the road, lots of walks and activities in the Moors National Park. Seventeen miles to Whitby and the coast. Please note the cottage is very small the living room is 2.75mX 3.4m with a kitchen 2mX1.14m. Bedroom is 2.8mX 2.65m.
The cottage is 260 years old and still has many of the original features including; stone floors, beamed ceilings, wooden spiral staircase and bare sandstone walls. This is not a holiday cottage it is my home when I am in the UK is very quirky so it lacks some of the standard holiday cottage features, their is no microwave, shower, internet or television. The kitchen is tiny but well equipped to cook basic meals. The cottage is tiny, possibly the smallest on Airbnb. The stairs are very narrow and steep, because of this the cottage is not really suitable for people with limited mobility, the elderly or couples with a baby or children. It is a perfect base for couples with a sense of adventure and a young outlook wanting to explore the moors and escape technology. Not really suitable for the over 50s looking for a cheap hotel room.
Castleton is a beautiful village in the Esk Valley, it is in the centre of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. 20 minutes in the car or 40 on the train will get you to Whitby and all of the delights it has to offer. Fish and chips, the seaside, shopping etc. Drive a bit further and you can come to Scarborough or York.
  • Just as people before us have said, James' dad made us feel very welcome - after a long drive it was nice to find a fresh loaf of bread, milk, eggs, biscuits (and all of the other bits and bobs you tend to forget to bring) in the kitchen. It's a lovely location and the locals are very friendly. The cottage is exactly as the listing and reviewers have described. For people who need to get away from the chaos of modern life, I would prescribe them a short stay in this great little cottage.

  • A totally brilliant experience. The cottage is tiny but very comfortable and full of character. Peter, James's father, couldn't have been lovelier, and provided us with fresh eggs and bread. The views from the cottage, and from higher up in the village are astonishing. Highly recommended for cyclists. Also, the Sticky Toffee Pudding at the Eskdale Inn is a classic.

  • We collected the keys from James's Father's house, Pete, and he took us to the cottage and showed us around, told us about local pubs, good places to eat and basically interesting things to do in the area. The main street looked really good, decorated with all sorts of things in yellow and blue for the Tour de Yorkshire Bike Race. Eggs, bread, milk and a few other things were left for us which were a lovely touch. The cottage was exactly as described and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time from start to finish, just away from it all, great having no TV. Pete said it was free on the day we came away so we could have stayed an extra night if we wanted but sadly had work! We will be coming back to stay here again and would recommend it.

  • We stayed at the cottage in Castleton four nights. We were warmly greeted by Peter Menargh, James father. He was extraordinarily helpful with familiarizing us with the cottage and town. Peter had stocked the cottage with all kinds of breakfast food as well as some beer which he immediately offered to us. The cottage is most conveniently located in Castleton village across the street from the pub (has wifi). and a few doors away from the local grocery store. It offers immediate access to multiple walking paths through the North Yorkshire Moors. The cottage is small and quaint and may not be for everyone but certainly all who are young at heart will feel at home and be charmed by cottage, village and moors.

  • Fabulous cosy cottage with great character. Ideal location near co op and pub. Very welcoming. Would love to go back for longer.

  • We were made to feel very welcome, and - after a cup of tea - taken to the cottage. It is *very* small, but cosy. The kitchen is tiny (if I had not lost weight recently it would have been difficult to get to the sink), but well equipped. The stairs are steep and the drop to one side a bit alarming. However, the bed was the most comfortable that I have slept in for a long time, and I enjoyed the stay very much. I also enjoyed reading one of the many books. All told, I'd recommend this very strongly, but those thinking of staying do need to take seriously that it is very small, and that the stairs are very steep.

  • Great stay and good location. Had a good day out at Whitby which only took 30 minutes to travel. Downe Pub was relaxing and full of locals who made us feel really welcome. Great overall stay. James and his dad Pete was brilliant and gave us all of the necessary details on how to get there and contact numbers.

  • Great little place - very quirky. James's Dad was very helpful and welcoming. The area is beautiful. Highly recommended!

Very friendly neighbourhood and in a brilliant location with great transport links to Leeds, Harrogate and York. The property is part of a brand new conversion on a popular residential street.
  • Everything i expected, has been refurbished to an extremely high level (wouldn't mind living there). Area was good, not to far out from the centre of town. Would definitely stay again.

  • The host canceled this reservation 13 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • We had a lovely stay at Tom’s place! The apartment is cosy and has lots of lovely touches to it, as well as only being a quick trip away from the centre of Harrogate. Tom was a really helpful host and was very quick to get back to us with any questions we had. The jacuzzi bath was much appreciated too!

  • Great place, not too far from the town centre. Would definitely recommend

  • Tom was a delight to deal with. You can tell he really takes pride in his customer service. Apartment was spotless, would stay again without a doubt.

  • Modern, clean, central, quiet. Couldn't fault it.

  • A really nice stay at Tom's place. We were missing some sheets on arrival but Tom was very responsive and organised some to be dropped off very quickly. It was a bit of a squeeze with four people - while technically you can sleep 4 (with the couch and a camping bed) I wouldn't recommend it as it was also a tight squeeze just sitting in the lounge. Other than that, a simple as easy stay. Thanks!

  • Perfect is the word I would use to sum up the expirience. Te place was amazing, the house was amazingly located to enjoy the area and the views were just astonishing. We will repeat for sure.

  • A great location perfect for a quick convenient business trip stop off place or for a family holiday. Lovely owners, who went out of their way to do things for us. We will return again.

  • What a treat !!! I didn't realise the cabin was so close to the water and the beautiful view - stunning. Perfect place for relaxing and having fun. The trampoline was a big hit with my 10 and 8 year old as were all the animals. My partner loved that he wasn't too cut off from amenities, that always makes him a bit nervous. The cabin was well equipped, I loved the sachets of sauces, salt and pepper etc. Beds were super comfy and central heating - we were up North after all. Extra bonus was the bath !!! Who knew a caravan could come with one - lovely. The location is ideal with the nature reserve on your doorstep. Would certainly recommend for all nature lovers, explorers and adventurers . Thank you Amanda for making us so welcome, Jessica will be telling all her class that she took a ferret for a walk this weekend !!!!

  • Very peaceful and loved the animals. Accommodation was cosy and had everything we needed (and was much larger than anticipated, too). Amanda is a lovely host, and we're already planning another trip.

  • Simply amazing place for any purpose you might have. For Airbnb this is topnotch

  • The photos do not do Amanda and Barry's place justice. This really represents the best of air b n b. Great value, peaceful and private place with everything you could need. Right on the edge of the marshlands surrounded by many different animals and natural beauty. Highly recommended!

  • This is a beautiful place. If you love animals, like us, Amanda's place shouldn't be missed. If you don't love animals, you should also come for the great scenery and very comfortable place! We loved it (and the sheep, and the ponies, and the birds, and the quail...)!

  • A serene location, very peaceful and quiet. Lots of animals enjoying a new lease of life with Amanda and Barry. Our two boys enjoyed feeding the ducks on the morning and playing on the trampoline. Amanda and Barry are great hosts, friendly and accommodating. A great pit stop to visit The Deep. Thank you for lending our son a coat that was above and beyond!

  • Fantastic! Super close to everything

  • Jelle is really a nice guy. Everything is perfectly good, especially Belle's room which is cozy and great view from the window. We would recommend it to our friends if they want to go to York for a tour.

  • Great room in a great location. Jelle was a wonderful host who made my very first airbnb experience smooth and easy. He was even kind enough to give me some suggestions of things to do outside the main tourist area. The room was perfect for what I needed. It was quiet and comfortable. The bed itself was very, very nice to sleep in after long days of walking around the city. I loved that I could see the wall from my room. I would gladly stay here again.

  • The house is very well situated in town center next to the city walls, close to all turistic attractions. House is big and everything was organised, even tips where to go, city map or free tickets. Even though we met Jelle when we were leaving, the communication was very good.

  • We spend one night at Jelle's house, Bella's room. We like the room and red paint in the room, especially. The house is close to tourism site in York and very convenient. There are tea and coffee in the room. Jelle provided very detailed information about arrival and also introduced the house and provided tourism information when we got there. The only thing about the heater. When we got back from dinner, the room was kinda cold . After talked to Jelle, Jelle helped to turn on the small heater in the room and it takes about half an hour that the room getting warm. It would be better if Jelle could have told us that earlier. The overall stay was great!

  • Brilliant experience was in a great location for the station and a lovely walk away from town. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

  • I was so apprieciated to his Kindness! next time i want to stay one more time in his home. really cozy and comfortable! Thank you very much!

  • good location,clean room,great host.

You’ll love my place because of location - found on Bridge End, you are 5 minutes walk from train & bus station & literally on the doorstep to shops, restaurants, bars, & clubs. The Apt' itself is special, set over 3 floors (Kitchen, Lounge, Bedroom & Bathroom) dating around 100 years, it has been modernised to make an ideal City Centre base. A spiral staircase connects all floors, the apartment is yours to use 'as your own' when you stay here. Wifi, Sonos speakers, iMac, TV on every floor.
The location & it being set over 3 floors make it pretty special The apartment is 1 bedroom, BUT can take up to 6, but ideally it would be for 2 - 4 people. The extra sleeping area being a sofa in the lounge & sofa bed in studio area of the kitchen. Please note the spiral staircase connecting lounge & bedroom upstairs is 'open plan' **Price is based on 2 only and any additional guests are by request and will be with an increase in the price to reflect extra occupancy.**
Everything is on your doorstep. Restaurants. Shops. Bars. Clubs. All so easy to get to so no real taxi costs to factor in! Great little bar just underneath (no noise heard might I add!) that is great to start your night off with.
  • Keith's place - nice 3 tier flat in the very hipster trendy area of Leeds city centre about 8mins from station - the flat is well kitted out for cooking and lounging / comfy bed and sofa bed - be aware there is a spiral staircase to living room and then upto bedroom - but not too arduous -not too much street noise. there are lots of bars and restaurants very close by if you want it. We went to Raymond Blancs Brasserie on the river which is just 5 mins away - very tasty - and also shear yard further down river about 8mins - also very tasty - The Tetley gallery and restaurant is just near to the flat which is also a great venue - All in its great - Elise

  • It is as described and is in the perfect spot. Host is very friendly and the place feels like home

  • excellent place, very modernised! Keith is a great and helpful host and we will definitely be visiting again if possible!

  • Lovely flat, great location and Keith was really helpful. Great stay.

  • Keith was easy to communicate with and was a great host. The flat has some interesting pieces and a nice layout.

  • It's a fantastic apartment and a fantastic host. Couldn't find a fault. Apartment is clean and welcoming. As a first ever AirBnb experience it's began with a high standard.

  • Absolutely loved my stay at Keith's apartment, the location was spot on Keith couldn't do enough to make our stay as pleasant as possible and was very help full any questions we had he was very sharp to help, defiantly will be making another visit

  • Flat was really great, easy to get to and right in the centre of town. Keith was really helpful and provided us with absolutely everything needed as well as meeting us with the keys and giving us a little walk through the flat when we got there.

  • Had a lovely couple of days in The Barn - Sharon was a perfect host very friendly, made sure we were well looked after and was extremely helpful. The space was perfect - everything we needed for our stay and the log fire was a great extra. Really very cosy. Would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

  • Stayed here with my girlfriend as a midweek getaway and have to say that the experience was wonderful! My only regret is that we didn't stay for more time! Sharon, our host, was brilliant, and as well as helping us when we got lost (due to my own error), she also recommended and then subsequently booked a meal at a local pub for us when I asked about local dining, at The Boundary House, which again, was brilliant.

  • Sharon has been very warm host. This place was much more than what it looked in the photographs. loved every bit of our stay there and would definitely recommend anyone visiting midlands to stay here. I hope we would be able to return to this place someday

  • We had such a lovely time at the Poplars. The cottage is welcoming, clean, homely and beautifully decorated, with a lovely fire, cosy bed and lots of board games to choose from! It's the perfect place for a weekend away. Sharon was incredibly nice throughout our stay and went over and above to help us on several occasions. It's a lovely place with lovely people and I'd heartily recommend it to anyone.

  • We booked the accommodation after reading the reviews and consulting the photos. We were not mislead in the slightest and enjoyed a very pleasant dinner in the garden before retiring to the very comfortable bedroom. The downstairs kitchen/lounge space was very welcoming and the breakfast had all we could ask for. Definitely another great stay!

  • Hosts communicated well prior to our visit. They were very welcoming and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The stay was fantastic. The barn is an annexe which gives you privacy. It was very well equipped and very comfortable. We had an absolutely beautiful and romantic night away there for our anniversary. Breakfast was delicious too. Everything about our stay was perfect. We couldn't have found a better place for us! Loved it :-)

  • I can't praise this place highly enough. It's immaculate and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Every day Sharon lit the wood burning stove and provided basics in the fridge as well as lovely touches such a gin and tonic which was very welcome! Sharon is available to help any time but also respects your privacy. I felt like I had my own little cottage for the week. Fabulous. I'll be back. Vicki

  • Had a lovely mid-week getaway at The Poplars! Friendly communication beforehand and warm welcome by Chris on our arrival. The rustic annex is very charming and has a cosy home-from-home feel. It is within easy reach of Leeds city centre but feels like it could be in the middle of nowhere! Chris recommended The Boundary House (5 mins drive away) and we had a lovely evening meal there. We arrived back to the fairy-lit garden and had a chilled night playing board games in front of the log burner. We were left a little menu to choose what we wanted for breakfast and the time we wanted it. After a sound sleep we had sausage baps, croissants, cereals, toast and juice delivered to the annex. All in all a lovely stay...and took some yummy jam home from the farm shop across the road. We will be back!

A 19th century blacksmiths forge, newly renovated into a lovely living space complete with fully-equipped kitchen, large living room area, bathroom with walk-in-shower and a cosy bedroom located on a mezzanine floor with access via a spiral staircase The Forge offers a great location for a relaxing weekend in North Yorkshire. Inside, you'll find a large lounge area, consisting of a huge sofa and armchair with a widescreen TV and DVD player. In the kitchen, you'll find a new oven and microwave, dishwasher, fridge and sink as well as all the equipment you'll need for home-cooked meals, including table and chairs for a dining/breakfast area. The bathroom boasts a newly installed walk-in-shower and heated towel rail as well as all other necessities. The bedroom is accessed via an antique spiral staircase that gives access to a cosy mezzanine area complete with king-size bed. The Forge is equipped with a new underfloor heating system that warms up in no time! Original features of the blacksmiths have been maintained, including horseshoes, windows and a beautiful stone floor, offering a slice of history in Pickering! The Forge can be accessed easily by car or bike, with space for parking outside. Only a short distance from walking routes or a short drive to the Moors and Whitby, the Forge is a great location for walking excursions and relaxing trips. I'm happy to help guests with directions or finding anything they may require once arriving in Pickering. The Forge is a private building, so once the keys have been exchanged, guests will have exclusive use The Forge is located on an idillic, quite street in Pickering with quick access to all areas of North Yorkshire via car. Another added bonus is that the Forge is only a 2 minute walk from a nearby pub, The Buck Inn! There are buses available but they don't run very often, so it's recommended to come in a car. BT customers will be able to pick up BT Wifi. 3G/4G is also possible.
  • The old forge is a lovely, cosy place to stay in North Yorkshire - great location (especially with the Buck Inn a few minutes walk away). Bed was really comfy and big sofa if you wanted to have a relaxed evening in. Pickering not far - we hired bikes from the big bear bike shop which worked out really well.

  • Stayed at the Old Forge 4-6 November. The place is very quaint and in a great location to explore the surrounding area. Obtaining the keys to gain access was hassle free and the bottle of Prosecco in the fridge was a nice touch. The village pub was only a short walk away and did nice hearty food at very reasonable prices. In all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

  • About the Host: Sean was extremely proactive and contactable at pretty much any time. He left very useful instructions RE finding the Old Forge, key collection and using the facilities etc. About the Old Forge: What a wonderful little place to stay. It's in a perfect location under an hour from the coast and 20 mins from the wonderful town of Helmsley with the National Bird of Prey Center. The Old Forge itself is really well decorated and the stone floor is a nice touch. The Mezzanine bedroom does sacrifice a little headroom but it's hardly an issue given how comfortable the place is. The kitchen is very well fitted out and the bathroom is extremely clean. Overall for a short stay/long weekend in a great place within driving distance from some iconic Yorkshire areas it's perefect. Oh....and we got a lovely bottle of Prosecco! The only things to be aware of are the slight lack of mobile coverage (on 3 I got an okay signal in the bedroom but the stone walls don't let anything in across the rest of the place). There are ample blankets and a good warm sofa but the stone floor can be a bit chilly if you went in the cooler months so slippers would be a good call.

  • Great little hideaway! Perfect getaway for couples who just want to get away from the hustle and bustle. Warm and cosy with everything you need to hand. Would definitely recommend!

  • A lovely cottage surrounded by quiet countryside and good attractions. The cottage itself was cosy and tastefully decorated. We had no trouble sleeping as it is situated on a quiet road. The touches such as tea light candles and extra blankets were thoughtful. However there were a few downsides. The shower head, as I had read in previous reviews before our stay, had still not been fixed and was rather annoying especially when trying to wash my hair! Such an easy and cheap fix so did not expect that. There was lots of cooking equipment provided as well as a dishwasher but be prepared to bring your own washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets as none are provided - we would have preferred this to the free proscecco! The postcode provided by Sean did send us 25 minutes in the wrong direction and after a 4 hour drive, it’s not something you want so do check before setting off. Nonetheless we had a lovely, relaxing stay and with a few tweaks, would recommend.

    Amy 2018-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely and really charming hideaway for couples visiting the N Yorkshire Moors. Modern, stylish, open plan living in a characterful setting. Some lovely touches . The Forge is located about 2.5 miles outside the delightful market town of Pickering in a very quiet village. The only amenities we came across in the village was the local pub and, although not our normal style, it did offer excellent home cooked food. Sean was easy to communicate with and check in incredibly easy.

  • Small but characterful and true to description. Communication with Sean was easy. Great weekend get away location for a couple. Could be improved by a blind on the downstairs window, although this did not particularly detract from our stay. Would recommend bringing a pair of flip flops or similar due to stone flooring downstairs.

  • The old forge is the prefect weekend base for travelling to a number of locations (Scarborough, Robin Hood bay etc). The cottage is really beautiful and well kept and Sean was great at keeping in touch to ensure we had everything we needed. Love.y pub called The Buck inn for food on our first night. Second night we ate at the white swan gastro pub (about 10 min away) which was amazing. Would definitely recommend!

  • Jelle is a nice host, he provided the free ticket which is the York Minster, the main attraction in York. And his house is lovely and also has a good location.

  • Amazing place. We absolutely loved it, Jelle is an incredible host. The room is just as it was described. The best rest I've got in UK. :)

  • The house was lovely and conveniently situated close to city centre. We enjoyed the stay very much, and Jelle was a very responsible host. Thanks for making us feel at home!

  • The location is ideal: just a very short walk from train station and the main sites. It's on a quiet street which meant we slept undisturbed with the window open. The house is full of character and we enjoyed breakfast sitting in the garden area. Our top floor bedroom was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We really appreciated Jelle letting us leave our bags there during the day and enjoyed meeting him briefly. He communicated with us we'll before arrival. We'd stay there again.

  • Very decent location - 5 min walk to central parts. Lovely homely feel and quirky décor! Room was fine, a little cold but Victorian houses often are, and it wasn't too bad. The family are really nice. Just a chilled out place. Worth it .

  • This big house situated at a great location which is near to the rail station and the city centre. Jelle was very welcoming. The room is spacious and comfy. Bathroom is clean. It's a lovely place to stay when you are visiting York, me and my friend both find the house cosy and would love to recommend jelle's place.

  • its really a nice place . easy to enter and nice to stay . i love the vincent room.

  • Jelle is a fantastic and welcoming host. The house is in an excellent location, in a quiet neighborhood just a quick walk away from the city center. I had a great stay!

  • This place is beautiful. The cabin was so cosy and there was so much thought put into every detail, including the breakfast delivered every morning, which was delicious and fresh. It was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. The view from the windows of the cabin is phenomenal. Thank you for a relaxing stay

  • Mark and Suzanne couldn't have been more lovely! Due to my foolishness we got our car stuck in the mud (because I didn't read the instructions properly on how to get there - DON'T follow (Hidden by Airbnb) maps!). We were really embarrassed but Mark and Suzanne were so kind and towed us out! The hut is gorgeous, so cosy and warm and the bed is super comfy. Delicious breakfast too.

  • I can't recommend Serendipity highly enough. A beautifully situated, well thought out, cosy getaway with everything you need to escape & relax. Mark & Suzanne were a delight & helped me pull off a perfect birthday surprise for my partner, very accommodating & a pleasure to meet in person. And the breakfast, simply perfect!

  • This is a really lovely little cabin set on the owner's farm, right next to sheep paddocks and with a view out over the valley. When we were there it was a little bit too cold to sit out on the deck and enjoy the scenery, but we did like watching the baby lambs playing in the next field. The cabin was very warm and comfortable and was equipped with some basic picnic gear and a fridge. The owners were friendly and made probably the best breakfast we had while hiking in the national park! A word of advice to people arriving by foot - if you can, plan to hike in via the road, as the back entrance through the forest becomes very confusing!!

  • Great place to stay. Very clean and the finishing touches were lovely. A little home from home!

  • Such a warm welcome and the breakfast was great... v healthy, and with one of us gluten and dairy-free, all was catered for without fuss or issue. Peaceful and tranquil, we had a night of listening to the rain on the roof, and woke to glorious views of the sheep and the Dalby Forest, where we went for a lovely walk. Just perfect!

It is a ten minute walk from the racecourse, a ten minute walk from a great kid friendly park and a twenty minute walk to the centre of town.
  • My father & I arrived separately for our first air bnb booking at the Eco chapel (due to knee issues, dad via taxi). My delayed flight made for a great autumn sunset stroll through beautiful York with a roller bag. We stayed in the two bedrooms to the side of the main quarters, each with our own bathroom (mine ensuite). Loved the fresh updates (and heated towels) in our quarters, the gardens, and the craftsmanship of the metal and woodwork of our host's renovations--even more amazing than the pictures. Dad and I are kind of introverted (traditional B&B breakfast schmoozing isn't for us) plus had some father/daughter catching up to do. I think Ben sensed that and he and Presley gave us plenty of space along withs good bfast & pub recs (and help calling cabs when needed). Next time, hope to hang out more and maybe sample some of his gourmet cooking. I don't know how one person has energy for all that he does. Both the Chapel and host are the epitome of Cool, (I rarely dispense this label)--glad Dad and I got to meet both!

  • I stayed with Ben (and Presley) while I was working in York. The Eco Chapel is a beautiful, soulful space. It is incredibly warm and comfortable whilst remaining true to the original charm of the building. Ben is the perfect host. It is hard to be anything but relaxed in Ben's company.

  • Ben's place was really lovely, as is Ben - very welcoming and relaxed. I was in York for work with evenings buys too, so didn't have the chance to chill out in his lovely open plan living room, which was awesome. The room I stayed in was very comfortable with a cool walk-in shower in the en suite bathroom. I couldn't have hoped to stumble across a nicer Airbnb place. Hoping I'll have an excuse to come back for pleasure and would definitely return to Ben's if I do! Would recommend to anyone.

  • Ben is an excellent host! Easy to get touch with and easy to stay with. And of course, the house is amazing, Ben had showed me every room of this place, which is just my dream house! It's twenty minutes walk from the station, quite and comfortable. Since I have come back late from the designer outlet,Ben invited me to have dinner with him!Thank u for your kindness and delicious food again! You are a wonderful host and cooker!hope I'll have the chance to stay with u again!

  • This is a great place to stay! We highly recommend it. The whole place is beautifully done, and finished to a very high standard. Ben was a great host, very welcoming, and gave us some great recommendations for local restaurants. Also loved his dog!

  • I stayed with 6 friends for two nights at Ben’s home. The house was absolutely incredible and definitely exceeded expectations. The main room was perfect for cooking, socialising and eating together and we even ate lunch in the garden together. The Bluetooth sound system was also a real benefit. The accommodation was a good size for 7 of us, any more people and it might not be as comfortable, but it was great having 3 bathrooms. We paid the £150.00 surcharge per night for Ben to vacate and for us to have the house to ourselves, so this is an additional cost to note. The location was also great and an easy walking distance to the centre of York. The house could have been a little cleaner in parts, but overall the standard of everything was very high, we had everything we needed and we would all stay again without hesitation!

  • A lovely weekend in a lovely house with lovely friends. The house has a lot of features, and it's a good idea to get guidance on how to work the fire but it's very conveniently situated and comfortable.

  • The Eco chapel is a stunning building, really at the high end - an architectural treat. I would love to rent out the whole building and stay with friends. It felt very luxurious and value for money. Ben was charming and discreet, the perfect host. I highly recommend !

  • It's been absolutely great to stay at Jelle's in York. The house is beautiful, it's extremely central and scenically located, the room is perfectly equipped and the guys make you feel more than welcome! Jelle was more than friendly, it was a delight! I couldn't recommend more! I'll definitely be back!

  • I had a great time staying at Jelle's house. The room was large and comfortable. The breakfast (cereal, toast with Nutella), coffee and tea were great in the mornings. The location is also really great as it is right next to the city walls and only a ten minute walk from the train station and a ten minute walk from the city centre. I highly recommend staying here!! Super affordable!!

  • Great stay in York. A perfect location. Close to town, great vibe, good people. I'm going back in New Year.

  • My recent trip to York was a flying one but I had a perfectly pleasant stay at Jelle's house which is centrally situated on a lovely leafy street with a few of the city walls. I didn't actually meet Jelle himself but he was very communicative via text, and by email before my departure, and dropping off my bags before a conference in the centre of York was thus straightforward. The room is exactly as advertised with a good internet connection. The house itself is large with two bathrooms, which could be useful as there are a few people living in the house. Many thanks Jelle (and all)!

  • A pleasant room in a lovely area of York - just opposite the city walls with a large grassy area. Walking distance to all the sights. A relaxed host/house environment make it a pleasant stay.

  • Nice place, close to the center, a friendly house, do not hesitate to book it

  • Jelle's house is very conveniently located within the walls of York so it was great for exploring the medievJelle provided parking permits so that we could leave our vehicle outside the house.

  • This is a perfect location to live York with nice, helpful and very easy going people. Jelle was very patient with me and my bad english, and he cooks a good "spaghetti alla bolognese", even for an italian woman...

The 'Cow Shed' is a large room with a similar sized decking area and adjacent portaloo, at the end of our garden. It contains a real double bed, 2 single (memory foam) mattresses, and a vintage studio couch. Price shown is for bringing your own sleeping bags/duvets - but we'll happily supply our bedding (pictured) for an extra charge. BREAKFAST IS NOT SUPPLIED. Free parking, 10 mins from Scalby village, 15 from Scarborough, or Dalby forest, and 8 from the Open Air Theatre.
The cow shed is currently equipped with a double bed,2 single mattresses, 2 bar stools around a 'bar' area, sofa, coffee tables, bean bags, 4 outdoor chairs and table, and a free standing hammock. Electricity (if required) can be provided on a card meter system.
Our Cow Shed/chalet, is sited on the edge of the North Yorkshire national park in a secluded picturesque valley, on the edge of the village.
  • Fantastic experience, so different to any others! Would highly recommend to anyone!

  • The Cow Shed is a lot more than what is sounds. A large glamping pod with electricity and excellent views. The toilet is close by and new showers soon to be on site. Must remember to take your own cutlery, bedding, towels and a toaster . If you work on £1 a day for electricity this will be enough. Basic accommodation to escape the world. There is plenty of lamps, a fridge, kettle, a double bed plus a double mattress. Hosts were very welcoming and we will certainly be going again ( Two adults and Two children ).

  • WOW!! What an amazing place. The pictures alone don't do it justice, such a quiet and peaceful location, great surroundings and a very unique space to stay. The Halloween trimmings were a lovely bonus touch. An absolute bargain for the nightly rates charged and the host was so lovely and informative. We really enjoyed our night in scalby eating at the plough and calling into the nags head for a few beers. Will definitely be booking again.

  • Lovely and unique outhouse with lots of character ( loved the mannequins !) .The views are amazing and the hosts are accommodating and conscientious.

  • We spent a lovely two nights in the cowshed with our greyhound. The location is wonderful and we were thrilled to spot the barn owl! Lauretta & family made us feel very welcome.

  • Well what a totally pleasant surprise! i was expecting essentially, a shed. It couldn't be further away from that. This is a super cosy, insulated cabin, I only had to use one of the two radiators to stay toasty warm. The host and her little one were super friendly and welcoming, they instructed me where to park, orientated me to the simply extraordinary surroundings. i would thoroughly recommend the 'ghost walk'! The cabin had everything I needed. The host had even provided some delicious home grown tomatoes and a lovely tea tray with a delicious selection of 'proper' coffee, tea and biscuits (Rocco and I made short work of those!) The air bed was very high quality and very comfortable. Easily as comfy as a regular bed. There's a great folder with all the info on local eateries with menus, maps, places of interest and a fascinating history of the 'cow shed' and how it came about. There is a huge selection of CD's and a stereo, it was great to be able to browse through and reacquaint myself with various artists that I hadn't listened to for years! The mobile signal and 4G are surprisingly good. After being eyeballed by a big bunch of sheep I managed to stream 'Black Sheep' on Netflix without a hitch. You're far enough away from the main home for privacy but close enough if you need anything (which was no problem for the host but I wanted for nothing). The toilet facilities were better than expected. The portaloo in the poly tunnel was very clean and there was a large bowl with jugs of fresh water and anti animal testing soap to freshen up. Last but not least, the feeling of seclusion and the actual view was incredible. My intention was to find a retreat where I could work on a literary project but I was swept away, supping chilled wine while laying in a hammock on the fabulous deck overlooking what is simply one of the most glorious areas of the region. Me and my big ol' dog will most certainly be making a return visit. Outstanding.

  • I loved this hand built cabin. It reeked of the love and attention that had gone into building it. I stayed for one night with a friend and we decided not to use the electricity cards which are available and had an evening star grazing and drinking red wine in this beautifully secluded place. The welcome was warm and I highly recommend a visit. Thank you so much.

  • Our family have had a great weekend at Hey Brow Cow shed. The location, the accommodation and the hosts are fantastic and we love it.

  • Great place for a break away, 10 minutes into town centre, Helen is really helpful when we had a problem with the he water she messaged straight back, thanks for a great trip will be back soon.

  • Great location - 5 minute walk from the station and 5 minute walk from the centre of York. The space was perfect for the two of us, everything within the flat was to a good standard as well. We never got to meet Helen but the manual will answer any question you have regarding use of appliances, etc.

  • Great holiday! The apartment is exactly as the pictures show - stylish, clean and in the perfect location. Parking was super easy, right outside the building and it's a short walk to everything you need. I was pleasantly surprised by just how quiet the flat was as well! You wouldn't think anyone else lived in the building which was brilliant. We brought our toddler and there was plenty of room for a travel cot in the bedroom and great that we didn't have to worry about stairs in the flat - he could safely run around (apologies to the neighbours below!) Breakfast was also included and it was enough to last us a couple days on the go. Thank you Helen - we will definitely be back!

  • We had a lovely 1 night stay at Helen's flat. The place was beautiful, clean, spacious and is in such a fantastic location. We enjoyed walking along the wall into the city centre and breakfast on Bishy Road. Couldn't recommend this place more!

  • Really stylish space, very clean and well located. Friendly helpful host. I would definitely recommend this place.

  • Very clean apartment, short walk to the centre of York. Lovely outlook onto the walls, very comfortable throughout. Helen made it easy for us, arranging parking and great communication throughout.

  • Helen's place is situated right by the city walls of York, and was about a 15 min walk from York Minster. There was free parking outside as well. The house is superbly done up; everything was neat and tidy on arrival. Additionally, the equipment in the house was lovely, especially the appliances. Would recommend for staying in York.

  • This is a really nice AirBnb. The bed was comfy and the bath tub is HUGE. It was very clean also. The old Medieval Walls (and access to them) are just outside and you can walk around easily to the castle and other spots.

  • Aisling was very helpful and gave us really clear instructions for getting to the house- which was great because it meant there was no fuss or stress about getting there. The house was clean and despite the cold weather was really warm and comfortable. Its a good base location close to the little towns with lovely shops and there are plenty of attractions to visit nearby. The house is very tastefully decorated and well equipped with incredible views all around!

  • We really loved this cottage. It's in a gorgeous setting and quite easy to find thanks to the detailed instructions provided. The cottage was well equipped and very warm and cosy, with comfy beds. Communication with the host was quick and easy, and they were very accommodating to our requirements. We would definitely recommend this cottage to others and hope to stay here again soon.

  • Really nice place in a rural location. Both myself, partner and dog loved it! Despite the fog we made the most of it and there is some good walking routes direct from the front door. Highly recommended.

  • Good communication prior to arrival. Hosts were not at home during our stay but contactable if needed. There was no need because everything was in place.

  • Aisling & Rob were the perfect hosts, the cottage was lovely and clean. Bed linen and towels were provided, as well as basic cooking condiments and washing up liquid and soap - which is really helpful! All of which we topped up when we left. There is also a TV/DVD combi and a washing machine. Bridestones cottage is so secluded and peaceful, with amazing views over the hills down to Todmorden. Our 9 & 10 year old children & our dog had a fantastic adventure playing in and amongst the rock at the back of the cottage and in the surrounding field's of sheep, all separated by dry stone wall's. Lot's of fab walk's and only 10 mins away from the creative hub of Hebden Bridge - We can't wait to return one day!

  • Helpful and friendly hosts. Great spot. They even drove us into town for supplies when we got snowed in for the day after a surprise heavy snow fall, which the children loved. Thank you for a lovely visit!

  • The cottage is very comfortable, with fantastic views across the Pennines. Aisling gave us a friendly greeting and we were then free to enjoy the cottage as if it was our own home. There are all kind of walking options right out of the door. We had a delicious meal at the Staff of Life down below in the valley.

  • Aisling so generously picked up my brother and his partner when our travel plans were altered. My family was really happy with the house and it will be a strong memory for them when reminiscing about our UK trip.

  • What a great find! Had a brilliant time on the boat even for just one night. Felt really at home and the place was lovely! Highly recommend!

  • Absolutely beautiful place on a really love camp site. A little shack is just opposite for breakfast. Hosts very welcoming. The houseboat is fab, decorated to a high standard. The deck is a lovely area to sit with a BBQ, and is a sun trap with beautiful views

  • Jelle was a fantastic host . Very welcoming and nothing was a problem. We booked in earlier than 3pm and were pleasantly surprised that Jelle had made up the neighbouring bedroom for us to use as well as the one we had booked as it was free. This meant one of us didn't sleep on the put you up as booked. What a fabulous jesture. The location and The Ark itself far exceeded our expectations. The pictures didn't do it justice. The setting is ideal whether you want to chill and relax or want to use it as a base to explore York . We used a local taxi firm and Uber taxis , both £8-10 We shared The Ark with another couple who were also very friendly and made our trip even more enjoyable. We did run out of electricity but a text to Jelle was all that was needed and he was quickly on hand to sort it out . We will definitely be recommending this to family and friends and will definitely be booking again. Thank you Jelle (pronounced Yella) as I called him Jelly 🙈

  • We don't normally do shared airbnb but the chance to stay at Jelle' s houseboat was too good to pass up. We shared the space with a couple & their dog as well as a mum & her two children, overall really nice experience & very nice people. The boat was clean & comfortable & a short cab or bus ride into York centre. Was worth the effort & experience. Jelle was very accommodating & his team did all they could to make our stay enjoyable & hassle free. Thanks for a memorable few days in York.

  • Amazing boat, huge and very spacious. The bedrooms / bathrooms are done lovely and clean. Will defiantly be returning

  • Well where to start, this is a absolute gem. Lovely room, clean bath room, cosy living room and very well equipped kitchen. This boats has been very well thought out even down to the Eco friendly hair products in the bathroom and docking station in the kitchen. Really can't fault this place or the host 10/10, will most defiantly be coming back

  • Fantastic place to stay, really unique setting in beautiful countryside and the boat has everything you could need. Approx 50 min walk to the city but this was enjoyable as along the river and the village of Bishopthorpe has enough amenities and is very scenic. Jelle was a fantastic host too, would definitely stay again. Perfect for friends, couples or families.

  • The Ark is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy what York has to offer. Superb equipped, and with lots of facilities, it provided a first class experience in a most unusual way. Jelle was an excellent host and the interaction with the other guests was really good too.

The ice cream factory, York Large room in city centre with your own private bathroom. Your room is on the sunny second floor with a double bed plus an airbed, comfy chair, wardrobe, large glass table and 40 inch TV with DVD. On the same floor is your own private bathroom with separate bath and shower. There is unlimited wifi throughout the house. Located within York city walls in a quiet street, our home was once a 1940's built Italian ice cream factory which we converted into a unique three-bed house. It's an interesting and spacious home, with a contemporary feel and we've tried to retain some of the special character of the original building. We are a few minutes walk from the railway station, right amongst the shops, bars, clubs and restaurants, in fact a short walk from most of York's attractions. We are 1.9 miles from York University, 1 mile from St Johns University, 1.5 miles to York Racecourse and only 10 minutes walk to York's Minster. On the ground floor is your own private mini kitchen with fridge, microwave oven, grill, toaster and kettle, plus a table for two. You get your own key, so come and go as you please. We are happy to chat if you need any help, but we also understand that you want your own space. Fresh bed linen and towels are provided. There is a secure garage on the ground floor, its £5 per day to hire but must be booked beforehand.
  • We chose this place because it was a great value for money with how close it is to the centre. It also looked very clean and modern on the pictures and it lived up to what it said on the tin. Mike seems to be always trying to improve and better the space to make it a greater place for any guest. He also provided a list of close pubs and eateries with what events went on there on which evenings. A very helpful host and an extremely lovely place to stay!

  • Mike's place was great! Lovely host and the Ice Cream Factory was such an amazing space. Close to everything - including his lovely little bar which we visited whilst we were there! We really enjoyed our stay.

  • Mike was very welcoming, and we felt comfortable in the shared modern spacious environment. It was quiet, bed was awesome, and you are walking distance to all center of town. We would do it again!

  • Central location but in a quieter street, stylish open plan contemporary space, separate bathroom from bedroom although just for your own use.

  • A good stay in Ice Cream Factory! Mike was friendly and stayed behind just to greet us on our arrival. Room and bathroom was spacious and our stay there was a comfortable one. Kitchen is available for guest's use as well. To add on, we could locate the place easily and it is within walking distance to station and city centre. We feel very free and unrestricted as we have the whole 3rd floor to ourselves. Definitely would recommend to anyone who wish to stay in York.

  • I've stayed with Mike several times. It's such a great place to stay, you're always assured of a warm welcome and the room/bathroom and amenities are fabulous. It's a great location too and York is a fantastic place to work and play. Couldn't recommend more highly.

  • Great location, great vibe and atmosphere in the house.

  • Great location, close to everything, easy walking distance. Mike was helpful at all times.

Unique and quaint gypsy caravan and cabin in a beautiful, peaceful and private setting on our farm. Open countryside views. A great place for both couples and families. Close to local attractions such as Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land, Castle Howard, Pickering Railway. A great base to explore North Yorkshire Moors.
Ideally located to enjoy the North Yorkshire moors, Deepdale Farm's bow top and cabin accommodation are situated on a horse farm in the most stunning location over looking open countryside. Peacefully positioned on the farm to enjoy your own privacy, the cabin gives you a cosy living room/bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and two masionnette single beds where you can holiday away from home. The bow top has a small double bed and coal stove. Choose to stay in the bow top or the cabin, or use both, the space is yours. On winter nights snuggle up and enjoy the electric log burning stove and TV with DVD player or on summer nights BBQ outside on the patio. We are just a mile away from kirkbymoorside which has everything you need - cafes - pubs - shops - take away. Just 3 miles up the road is a quaint village Hutton Le hole with a chocolate factory and folk museum and ice cream shops. Perfect for walking too. 7 miles east is Pickering which has the North Yorkshire Moors railway where you can have a delightful day out on the steam train to Whitby at the coast. Time it right and you will see the regatta or goth week! Dalby forest is just 12 miles east which is fantastic for Segway trails, mountain biking and go ape. You can spend days here. If you fancy a bit of horse riding only 3 miles east is Friars Hill Riding stables in Sinnington. For some fine dining we have the mitchellin star restaurant in Harome - The Star Inn or the Feversham Arms in Helmsley which has the fabulous vebenna Spa - well worth booking into.
We are two miles from Hutton Le hole which is a picturesque village with great local pub. We are also only 10 minutes from Pickering which has the North Yorkshire moors railway station and lots of lovely shops and walks. York is also 40 minutes drive away as is Whitby and Scarborough. There are also lots of lovely walks on our doorstep. Please see our travel guide book on here.
  • If your looking for something a little different and quirky then look no further. Absolutely stunning views, very peaceful and only a short distance to Pickering and Scarborough for day trips. Lovely decor, fits very well with the rustic outdoor feel. This lovely little lodge has everything you need and more, the hosts provided everything, even a loaf of bread, milk and biscuits which was lovely. Plenty of outdoor seating and grass for young children to play and onlooking goats and chickens. Enjoyed a nice cup of tea sat on the decking early morning with the company of a very friendly dog and cat. The gypsy caravan was absolutely fabulous!! Very cosy, lighting, heating and electricity in there too. It has a fun element with sleeping arrangements but in a lovely cosy lodge. Would highly recommend! Fantastic weekend away for money something different to a standard hotel night away. Would definitely love to come back.

  • Beautiful place to get away from it all, quirky and unique

  • A charming cabin in an idyllic setting. Our family of four loved our stay here. It was peaceful and amazingly beautiful. Really, I just wanted to sit and stare at the rolling hills. We were greeted by two friendly horses in their pasture and adorable goats in their pen nearby. My daughter (aged 18) fell in love with the bow top and enjoyed sleeping in it. The loft was comfortable for my husband and I (although the first time up and down was challenging we quickly got the knack of it). The bathroom was very nice and the kitchen had everything we could need.

  • Lovely, quiet space to rest and recuperate in the lodge with fantastic views of the landscape. All amenities that you would require and hot water in an instant. Plenty of room for the two of us with parking close and a decent path to walk on...I have to use a walking stick so ideal level access. The patio area is brilliant too for a morning brew and we hope to come back in warmer weather to make full use of the garden.

  • Just back from a weekend break at Deepdale Farm. Charlotte greeted us on arrival and showed us around the cabin. There was bread, milk and butter for us to use. The cabin was cosy, clean and warm. Views from the cabin are lovely. We followed Charlotte & James directions on how to find the farm and found it easily. We were a family of four with two young teens and found the cabin just the right size. I wouldn't have been able to get up the ladder and into the loft sleeping space but the children managed and we were happy on the sofabed. We didn't use the bowtop. We didn't really spend a lot of time in the cabin - just using it as a base for visiting N Yorks visitor attractions. On each of the two nights we were there, it was dark when we got back to the cabin, but I should think it would be lovely to go back in the summer and sit out enjoying the lovely views. Thanks Charlotte and James for letting us stay.

  • This cabin and caravan are located in a lovely spot looking over the Dales with great views, but overall the experience was more glamping than staying in a cottage, which I hadn't really appreciated. The cabin is nicely decorated and small - much more than 3 people and it feels cramped. The beds for the kids up in the eaves are fun but does get cold later in the night if the weather is cold and windy as it was when we stayed. The kitchen is very small and poorly equipped - we had hoped to cook some meals but that wasn't possible. This was not helped by the fact that the already cramped kitchen was made more so by a small oven with two electric hobs that was placed on top of the built in hob. I guess the original hob was broken but I am not sure as this was not explained to us when we arrived. The host, Charlotte, was not there when we arrived and the chap that showed us in was fine but didn't give a 'welcome' as such. (The week before we had stayed in a AirBnB in Berlin and were welcomed by the owner with a glass of wine and she went through where everything was so I guess my expectations were high!) Surprisingly, Charlotte didn't come over once she returned and we only saw her when we had to seek her out to ask for more towels and help with the toilet which was blocked. Apart from the kitchen the most disappointing aspect of the stay was the gypsy caravan. It is very charming but really not suitable for sleeping in. My friend and her young daughter slept in it. The door of the caravan was stable style and the bottom half was constantly blowing open in the night. Not great when the weather is unseasonably cold and the electric heater provided made little difference. In summary I think this would have been a much better experience if the weather is good and we were able to use the outside space more have a barbecue etc. However, the cabin itself is not as well equipped as many other places I have stayed and could be improved with just a little more thought.

  • We booked the lodge for the Pickering 1940s weekend and it proved to be a perfect location just a short drive from the town. My wife and I stayed there with our daughter and her partner. The lodge is small for 4 but we knew this from the accurate description. We all loved it though and found it very cosy and comfortable. Charlotte and James were very welcoming and friendly.

  • The cabin is the perfect place for a quiet and relaxed time with a great scenery. A much needed break from the city's routine. The equipment of the cabin is simple but it's got all the necessary to cook simple meals and the bathroom was even better than we expected. We loved not having wi-fi!

Peaceful old house in Dewsbury, with fast WI-FI, easy access to motorways & on direct train line from Manchester Airport, and to Leeds and York. Space to park inside our garden. Public transport to Yorkshire Moors, Huddersfield, Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Ossett & a walk from Red Brick Mill.
You are all welcome of course, not just arty people! We live in an old Victorian house, built in 1872, set in a private crescent, so away from traffic. Jorge is a cameraman and editor, as well as our technology Mr. Fixit! I (Elaine) am the artist and wedding photographer. Between us we speak several European languages: Greek, Spanish, German, French & Italian. Dewsbury is near several major towns (Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford, Wakefield, under 10 miles apart) and has easy access to both M1 and M62 so you can explore from our home as a base. We have super fast WI-FI, and in house techie (Jorge). The internet password is in our house manual which Airbnb send you once you have confirmed your booking. If you like walking there are several lovely walks and woods nearby too, I am veggie but my husband is a carnivore so if you would like to share a meal with us, just let me know. We often travel with our wedding photography and video work - to all sorts of places abroad, so understand how important it is to feel at home when away from home...much more fun than a hotel! See our guidebook for bus and train station locations: London (189 miles), Leeds (10 miles), Bradford (10 miles), Huddersfield (10 miles), Wakefield (6 miles), Sheffield (30 miles), Manchester (40 miles). Happy to meet you from the train and to either walk up with you to show you the footpath, or to pick you up by car if we are around at the time you arrive. Message me if you'd like help checking best public transport routes, as happy to look them up for you. If you fancy a bike ride to get around the various Greenways, and Canal tow-paths in the area, you can borrow one of our mountain bikes if you like too. You will still need to go up at least one hill to get back to us though I'm afraid, but if I can do it, am sure you can too. No worries if you choose to push it for the last bit though of course! xx Elaine & Jorge
We love the peace and quiet, set among old Victorian houses. and easy access to main motorways East-West (M62) and North South (M1), large towns nearby for interesting experiences and night life, and quick access to open countryside and Yorkshire Moors. Dewsbury itself is an old town, with buildings in the centre mainly from the same era as our house. Market days are Wednesdays and Saturdays, where you will see a variety of stalls selling clothes, food, and electrical goods. Apart from several large supermarkets, the town centre is mainly pound shops and charity shops so for serious shoppers Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield or Huddersfield are more likely to be of interest. Crow Nest Park is an easy walk away - about 10 minutes - and features in some of the photos on our listing.
  • Great host, took me in from the dark and dreary leeds, into her warm cossy abode. My stay felt dream like, something from a book, where out of nowhere the character in taken in by a kind and wonderfully cheerful person, saving him from his captors, in my case the cold and the rain :)

  • Elaine and Jorge is the best host we have ever met in Airbnb. We are so lucky to have the chance to live in their lovely house. No matter considering from the indoor facilities or other aspects, they are so thoughtful and amiable. Elaine picked us from the train station and brought us to supermarket the first day we came. The dinner party is so happy and unforgettable, which forms a really good memory for my entire experience in Europe. English muffin impressed me with totally different and good taste. If I have more chances to travel in England, I will definitely choose their place again, again and again!

  • I had the most fantastic evening I've had in a long while... Elaine is just a really special human being. I can't remember when I last met someone who related to me straight from the heart - no agenda, no airs, no 'what can I get in return', no positioning, no posturing... Just Elaine. And she made my room so comfortable - extra fluffy towels, Egyptian cotton duvet cover, warm heaters, an electric blanket, all sorts of teas, a kettle just for me - the list goes on. I react to perfumes and when I initially contacted her I asked if it would be alright for her not to use fabric conditioner on the items I'd be using, nor have candles or room freshners in the room I'd be using. Not only did say that that would be absolutey fine, she even went out of her way to consider getting a washing powder that was fragrance free!!! Now, there was absolutely NO need for that, as I've never reacted to a washing powder before (so I told her that); but the fact that she even **cared** to consider this, for someone who was a complete stranger to her, shows you what she's like. I couldn't have enjoyed my stay with her more. She FAR exceeded my expectations. If there was a score higher than 5/5, I'd give it to her! Highly Recommended!! Not just the best Airbnb host I've stayed with; she's the best B&B host I've stayed with (and I'm no spring chicken! :))

  • Good location. Victorian house interesting with Elaine's art. Easy to park our hire car. Elaine and Jorge very friendly and helpful.

  • Elaine was very welcoming and helpful.

  • Very comfortable room and great hosts. Thanks very much and kind regards

  • Elaine is a wonderful host, her house is like a gallery, the room is tastefully decorated and equipped. We enjoyed our stay very much. Highly recommended.

  • Best place to stay outside Leeds if you have a free and artistic spirit.Elaine place is just so relaxed and life affirming. Elaine and Jorge both dynamic artists with a warmth that makes you feel instantly at home and part of the family. Truly delightful came away feeling inspired too.

You’ll share the main entrance and stairs of our home with us, but it’s self contained once you are up in the loft. It’s more like a studio flat than a room! The house itself is in a quiet suburb south of the centre of York. It's not too far into the centre - a 10 minute bus ride or a pleasant 20-30 minute walk along the river Ouse.
A lovely attic space, recently converted with a big airy bedroom, a good sized bathroom and a little kitchen area. The loft room has a modern fresh interior in grey, white and brights! There's a lovely comfy king size bed with a non feather duvet, pillows and a cotton blanket. The room is big enough to also fit a small single bed (stored under the king size bed when not required). Again non feather pillows and duvet (and a quilt). There is a television, dvd player and dvds. There's a hairdryer too. The bathroom has an electric power shower over a full sized bath. The kitchen has a fridge, kettle and combination microwave. You can borrow an iron and ironing board, just ask. The room has a beautiful view over the back garden and our neighbours' gardens too! It's the best of both worlds as it's a quiet suburban area with leafy streets. Nearby there are pubs with decent food and a row of shops for essential supplies. There's a cycle/foot path at the end of the street and it's an easy 20-30 minute walk into town along the river Ouse past the Millennium Bridge. York is a beautiful city with lots of history and loads to see! Plenty of pubs, restaurants and nightlife.... There are buses into town, and onwards.
Peaceful green suburbs with easy access to the 'Bright lights'!
  • Theolyn provided helpful responses before our visit and was lovely to meet. The loft is quiet and is relatively spacious with a very comfortable bed. The kitchenette was well equipped and Theolyn took care to make sure we had croissants and pain au chocolat. At the other end of the loft are 2 comfy chairs next to a large window overlooking the garden. There is a large TV and plenty of films. The room was very clean and the bathroom nice. Milk, ample tea bags and coffee were also provided. Unfortunately the riverside walk into the city was flooded but we know that it is a great walk from previous trips. Nice neighbourhood. Would very much like to stay here again.

  • We loved the room in Theolyn's home. It was spacious and bright. She was lovely and kind, brought us breakfast and croissants. It's as lovely walk by the river to her house from the city. We definitely recommend it.

  • We absolutely loved the warm welcome from Theolyn and felt really at home from the start. Our cosy loft room was immaculate, with bright super clean bathroom and plenty of space. Our son loved the dogs, the garden view and a selection of DVDs! We enjoyed a lazy morning with coffee and croissant, just what you need when you away from home. The place was so easy to get to and is in a blissful residential area with plenty of great little places to eat. Very highly recommended and we definitely are coming back.

  • Theolyn was very welcoming and helped us to settle in. The room was very cosy and had everything that we needed for a short stay in York.

  • Staying at Theolyn's was a real pleasure! The room was clean and fairly private from the rest of the house. The location was about a mile from the town center, but walking along the river toward the city was one of my favorite parts of my stay! Theolyn was incredibly nice and provided recommendations on where to spend my time. If I'm ever in York, I would definitely stay here again.

  • Lovely room, plenty of space and facilities were great. Theolyn was really welcoming and location was perfect....quiet as it was not in the city centre but just an easy 20 minute walk into town. Will definitely stay again!

  • We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. The room was lovely and the description was accurate. Very comfortable and really clean. Nothing was too much trouble and local information was given on places to go and ways to get around on foot, bus or taxi and details provided. Nice neighbourhood on the edge of the city with easy access into York. Very quiet for a good night's sleep in the large comfy bed! Tea, coffee and croissant's were appreciated! Would definitely stay again......

  • Theolyn's loft room was fantastic, very spacious and with a lovely private bathroom. The family were very helpful, and we took them up on one of their restaurant recommendations, which was fantastic.Thank you!

There is also a small indoor campers' kitchen, with fridge (with freezer section for your ice blocks), kettle, toaster, microwave and basic hob. Wi-Fi is also available on site, for a small charge.
The friendliness of the people, and the stunning, long-ranging views.
  • Had a lovely stay at the pods, accurate description of site, accommodation and facilities. Well organised, freindly site, will definitely recommend to others. Thank you Kate and Ed.

  • Had a great stay in a pod,lovely clean place,lovely helpful hosts

  • We all have had a lovely stay at Kate’s. This was my sister’s first “camping” experience and she absolutely enjoyed it. It’s a very dog friendly place and the onsite toilet, showers and kitchen were very clean. There’re also a lot good walks nearby and we went for a 2 hour walk where Kate had recommended after check-out. The scenery as well as the 762 year old church were magnificent. To conclude, it has been a great experience and we’ll definitely go back again ( very soon) !

  • Super campsite in County Durham where we stayed to break the long journey to the Highlands. Kate and her husband were very welcoming and happy to show us around. Our pod had excellent views over the hills towards Raby. Local pub offered tasty dinner and local cafe a substantial breakfast. And local river offered welcome exercise and adventure for the kids!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Hillcrest farm, the pods are fantastic, lovely and warm and easily slept four adults. There's a lovely picnic bench outside and the views are stunning. Good kitchen and toilet facilities too. We went to the Brownlow arms down the road for dinner which was nice. Kate was really welcoming, hope to go again soon!

  • Had a really great stay and would definitely recommend it. Very friendly and helpful without being too 'in your face'. It was everything it stated in the write up. Well done.

  • Kate and Ed were so very accommodating, especially was we arrived rather late in the evening. The location is perfect with so many places to visit. The morning view from the snug pod in the morning was lovely . A lot of thought has been put into the over all stay with a simple but highly functioning kitchen, we brought up a meal and reheated it in the microwave. Each pod feels private with a deck and positioned such a way that you feel on your own. Lovely dog walking field. Over all an amazing experience, first time for us in a pod.

  • A friendly welcome, a warm and well-appointed pod (just as described) and a beautiful location. We even got advice on where to swim in the nearby river! Recommended.

Cosy up in the hut with free ranging hens and ducks for neighbors. There is a full size double bed, large desk for writing/ eating/ painting, a microwave, kettle and water storage. The hut is very well insulated so it's easy to heat up to toasty temperatures with the electric heater, or you can go old school and use the wood burning stove. There is a hot and cold running water and a loo close by at the farm. Nosy at our farm on insta @cronkshawfold
The Shepherd's hut provides a comfy double bed which will be made up with bedding and blankets on your arrival. Other facilities include a fold out table hidden under the main table and chairs which can be used inside or carried out onto the spacious veranda so you can easily write/ paint/relax/work indoors in the cosy hut or outside under the shade of the trees should the weather be sunny. The hut also has a woodburning stove for heating, an electric heater for instant cosyness if you don't want to bother with the fire and two side boards with cooking utensils and crockery including a microwave, cool box, storage container for water and a small kettle. The cabin is basic with only one double plug socket. There is no running water - there is a large container of water in the hut for you and more water can be found close by along with toileting facilities. The Shepherds hut provides the perfect simple get away for those on a limited budget wanting to get away from it all and live the simple life. Guests who will be arriving in the dark/ in winter time who aren't keen on navigating in low light should bring a torch to find your way to the hut as the path to it is unlit. This is because we have an abundance of rare wildlife on the farm including bats and owls (which you will likely see) which need the dark to be best able to hunt for their dinner. Useful things to bring: A flannel/ wet wipes for washing and a towel A torch Wellies
You've hens and ducks for neighbors. Within a 15 minute walk we have a local italian, Ana Capri, and with 30 minutes walk an Indian restaurant - The Mala in Holcombe - and a British pub - The shoulder if Mutton in Holcombe - all of which serve great food. Our local pub, the robin hood, serves free cheese and crackers on Fridays from 5.30pm. Its a dog friendly pub and has 2 fire places which are usually lit during the winter months. The locals are friendly, they will want to know who you are so do chat with them!
  • Fantastic couple days break! Lovely host very helpful, nice renovated shack. Will definitely book again thanks

  • ... I wish I could extend my stay indefinitely...

  • A beautiful place to return too!

  • Lovely quiet place to get work done. Comfy bed, nice hosts, nice views if you go for a stroll.

  • Just as described and very cosy, lovely little hideaway. Directions to Dot’s place were spot on and parking easy. A delight to wake up with the chickens😊 For those who want a five star hotel then please book a five star hotel. This is a fun, alternative, secret little cabin, basic, as described with a very comfortable bed and lovely views. Thank you Dot, pleasure to stay.

  • The farm was easy to find and set in a lovely location with local shops nearby in case you need anything last minute. We received a very warm welcome when we arrived and the host was very helpful. The hut is quaint and private and the fire makes it feel homely and cosy - but no lock on the door for anyone that may find that an issue - we didn't mind though as we were left to our own devices. It might be difficult for anyone uneasy on their feet as it's set out of the way and if the grass is wet it's quite slippy walking up the hill to get there. All in all though for us it was a perfect nights stay :)

  • Me and my dog had a great time at the hut, it was super cosy even in below freezing conditions. Dot was a great host, replied quickly and even invited us to sledge with her. I would definitely stay again.

With amazing views of the Yorkshire Dales this is a perfect romantic retreat. With battery operated lights and music and big comfy bed you can relax with your loved one. Shower, toilet, settee and dining set. The fridge is prefilled with breakfast items.. you can choose cold ham and cheese breakfast or hot bacon and eggs! We happily cater for allergies and vegan/vegetarian guests.
The treehouse has one main room and a bathroom with shower and toilet. The kingsize bed is very comfortable! Table and chairs for eating and drinking. Kitchen area with 2 ring hob, small oven, fridge, microwave, toaster kettle.. also suppled are tea and coffee etc . There are breath taking views of Nidderdale from your tree balcony.
It's a peaceful location with beautiful walks in every direction and some lovely quirky places to eat. Nidderdale has so much to offer and we are right in the heart of it.. 3 miles from the town of Pateley Bridge... 5 minutes drive or a beautiful walk along the river side. Around Pateley Bridge there are cafes, bars, restaurants, pubs, a leisure centre with swimming pool, Nidderdale Lamas, Bewerley Horse Riding Centre, Brimham Rocks, How Stean Gorge, Stump Cross Caverns, Studfold Aventure Trail and so much more! PLEASE NOTE THE INDIAN DELIVERY SERVICE HAS CEASED TRADING.
  • Me and my fiancé stayed here for a night for his birthday, it was great! Lovely spacious tree house with a balcony to sit out on, which was wonderful because the sun was beaming down all evening. We didn't know where to eat but Emma was so lovely and explained the local places to eat or to get an Indian takeaway delivered to the treehouse .. we opted for the Indian, which was very tasty. A lovely relaxed evening in beautiful surroundings , and the added bonus of Emma's cows which come up to the treehouse to have a nosey at who's there!!

  • All as described. Best part is the view and peacefulness!! Will definitely go again!

  • You have to stay here! At least when I'm not claiming it. Emma and Ian are wonderful and interesting folks who have made a marvelous cozy perch on their working farm, Harewell Hall, with the best of views out across the valley from the hut's little front porch. What a find! Stone walls, sheep baaing in the meadow, trails all over the place along the river, up across to the moors and even over to Pateley Bridge to the pubs and shops... This would make a great base for wandering across the Yorkshire Dales or even a way-station as you trek from bnb to bnb. Wine and cheese at my elbow, I sat and read late into the evening enjoying the darkening sky, then watched the stars from the comfy bed, comforter tucked under chin. That and then a special breakfast Emma leaves in a basket! Sigh... WHEN CAN I GET BACK!?!

  • Our experience here was perfect and we fell a little bit in love with the treehouse! The location was beautiful and easily found with Emma's detailed directions sent to us in the post. Emma was very welcoming, helpful and stayed in contact throughout our stay. The treehouse was cosy and clean, and the breakfast provided was lovely. We would both recommend this treehouse to our friends and family and would not hesitate to book again!

  • The tree house was perfect for our mini break. We spent 2 nights there during 'storm Brian' so it was very very windy and rained pretty much the whole time but the house was sturdy and cosy and we felt very safe inside. There's a lovely bathroom with a fab shower! Emma provided some homemade bread, spreads and juice for breakfast which was yummy. The location is perfect for those wanting to escape civilisation but close enough to amenities (we drove to Pateley Bridge to get fish and chips one night and they were still warm by the time we got back). All in all, it was a wonderful weekend and we will definitely return one day!

  • Just returned from a night in the treehouse. The tree house is beautiful and the view is amazing! Emma was a lovely host and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely return. Will be recommending to friends!

  • Lovely little tree house with open views across the valley. Farmhouse is set behind so there is nothing to spoil your outlook at all! Very secluded and has the bare essentials. Fridge kettle and toaster. The shower works wonders and the faux wood burner stove kicks out a lot of heat of you happen to arrive on a cold night! Top tip - take a couple of extra torches or battery lights incase the candles run out and have a meal at the The Birch Tree Inn. Reasonable prices for spectacular food and very friendly staff.

  • Everything about the treehouse was lovely, to sit on the balcony with a glass of Gin and Tonic after a long week at work was just what we needed. Very relaxing and definitely highly recommend, everyone should take time out to stay here, you have a great place X

A unique and very spacious self contained apartment in a Grade II converted Georgian House. Located in Hull city centre, within walking distance of most of Hull's attractions and events during Hull's year as 'City of Culture'. The apartment sleeps 6 - 7 people, with flexible sleeping arrangements, so it's ideal for large groups or families. The very large kitchen-diner/sitting room comfortably seats everyone and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking and dining.
Sleeps 5+1 1 Double Bedroom - Kingsize Bed 1 Double Bedroom - Double Bed + 1 Single Bed Common Space - 1 Single Bed The first bedroom has a kingsize bed, and has a very traditional feel with some antique furniture. If required, there is space in this bedroom for an extra single bed or travel cot (which can be provided) A highchair is also available. The second bedroom has contemporary decor. It has a double bed and a single bed. There is space also in this room for a travel cot. In the sitting room, there is comfortable futon for 1 person. There is plenty of storage space for your belongings. Towels and fresh bedding are also provided, and beds are made-up ready for your arrival. You'll find a welcome basket on arrival with some breakfast provisions, tea and coffee and a small bowl of fresh fruit. Our ground floor apartment has period features, including an enormous 19th century roof lantern/atrium above the kitchen, original sash windows and high ceilings. Rest assured though that it provides the modern conveniences that you require, such as a fully fitted and equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom with bath and shower above bath, large flat screen TV and free, fast unlimited wi-fi. The kitchen, dining space and living area is open plan, and provides a truly stunning space for relaxing and entertaining. In summary, our apartment is unique (well, we think it is). We understand (on good authority ) that the original pair of semi-detached houses were built by Mr Barclay and his son-in-law of Barclay's Bank in the mid 18th century. It's likely that the apartment was originally the 'Drawing Room', and entertained famous and infamous guests during its' day!
  • Louise and Co made us feel warmly welcomed and taken care of. The place was absolutely splendid and provided a perfect place for our short stay. Highly recommended!

  • The apartment was well located for the centre of Hull; parking was close by. The main room had real wow factor, though slightly diminished by a number of light bulbs, the clock and two of the heaters not working. The two main bedrooms were lovely. There was plenty of hot water and a good shower; although the apartment was slightly cool when we arrived, it warmed up quickly. The kitchen was well equipped though we didn't do much cooking. Providing some starter items and a store cupboard were nice touches.

  • Louise was a wonderful host. She was very understanding of our needs and ultimately made our trip a success. The apartment was great too, lots of open space and natural light through the sky light. Everyone also found the beds extremely comfy. I would definitely recommend this apartment and would re-visit again

  • Louise is the perfect host. She picked us up at the train station, even though it's only a ten minute walk. The apartment was very good for our family which made our stay in Hull nice.

  • Louise was an excellent host; readily available to message/email and help us with our stay. The apartment is lovely - a huge living and dining area allows for a very relaxing atmosphere, that feels spacious. Place was clean and Louise had left a few pieces to help us on our way (as well as thoughtfully managing a corner shop out of one of the cupboards - for anyone who happens to need anything). Would definitely recommend as a place to stay with friends. Great experience, thank you.

  • Lovely flat and very professionally run.

  • Louise made every effort to respond to my questions and requests as quickly as possible and seemed a lovely person. The apartment is outstanding and the photos don't do it justice. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there were many store cupboard items that could be purchased via an honesty box. The apartment was easy to find and parking was very straightforward and cheap. We were only staying for one night so didn't get chance to explore but if we had it's location would have been perfect as it was only a couple of hundred yards to the centre. We were a mixed group of ages and all agreed that it was lovely and we would definitely use the apartment again.

  • This apartment is huge and in a great location (if you ignore the boarded up places nearby ;) as it is so close to Hull's major attractions. Being picked up from the station was a great birthday bonus - thanks Louise!
